"Quarterback he's the number one quarterback how that's how you doing. He's playing better right now and the answer. The question is, who's right now how can you say that Okay Russell Wilson was playing better right now but he's not better right now who didn't make any sense what you set was completely oxymoronic I could argue it was more Roenick but I'm just going to say it was oxymoron. Best. So Wilson is better than Patrick mom? And at Worse Russell Wilson does more with less than Patrick, Bomb Best Russell Wilson is better than Patrick Mahomes it worse right now Russell Wilson does more with less than Patrick Mahomes. Los Angeles Deputy Saved Partner's Life After Ambush Shooting While Injured

"Tonight. We're learning new details about the shooting ambush that left to Los Angeles County Sheriff's deputies severely wounded. Let's bring. Sarah, she's on the scene for a Sarah one of the deputies actually saved your partners life while she was bleeding from face wound. Tell us what happened. It was absolutely incredible. Both of the deputies are still alive partly because of the reaction by thirty one year old mother of a six-year-old, both deputies still here in critical but stable condition. And incredible show of bravery, a thirty, one year old La, a sheriff's deputy profusely bleeding from a bullet to the face is seen helping save her twenty four year old partner. She applies a tourniquet to his bloodied arm and helps him move behind a pillar to avoid taking on more fire. Both have already been shot multiple times. Surveillance video shows the ambush a shooter fires into. Their car while they sit in their vehicle outside a stop and calm ten female deputy after getting shot both of them four five times her with a broken jaw in the face stepped out gave a tourniquet to her fellow deputy who had been shot in the head is well, probably saved his life while calling for help she and her partner had just become deputies fourteen months ago. I'll pointer the mother of a six-year-old is seen here. She proudly graduated from the Police Academy and Twenty One thousand nine hundred as they are recovering from their injuries at the hospital a callous call for their death by a gathering of about I people outside the hospital. The leader of the group that calls itself L. as Africa town coalition says he hopes the shooting is in retaliation for the shooting of black and Brown people by the. The most recent shooting sparked protests in Compton when deputies shot Dijon, Kizzie for an alleged bicycle. The family says Kizzie was shot in the back and investigation is still underway visit star of retribution. Very. Good start. The Ell ast has faced serious controversy over the years. It's sheriff convicted of lying in twenty sixteen was fired and jailed. There has also been a lawsuit brought accusing deputies of forming a gang inside the department. The most recent accusation and a complaint by a deputy whistle blower said in a deposition deputies formed a gang called the executioners incompetent. He says, they supported the same tattoos and used excessive force on suspects me being a field training officer. Supervisor and I have to. report this this behavior, this sheriff Deputies Union responded to those claims, the accusations of there being criminal gangs within the sheriff's department. That's ridiculous. But Union Representative Hernandez and some longtime content residents say the idea of retaliation like this is sickening to the to the people the group that came out here and and screamed we hope you die that in itself is also pathetic maybe not. As bad as the guy that actually pulled the trigger, but it's just as bad. We don't want those police officers to die. You know we don't want that. That's a tragedy and our prayers go out for those officers and their families. Yes. As the issue you know we, we believe that there should be some kind of reform police department. You know what to make it better for everybody.

Manhunt intensifies for gunman who shot two deputies in LA

"Tonight the manhunt intensifying for the gunman who ambushed to La County Sheriff's deputies, shooting them as they sat in their SUV, critically injuring both the sheriff's department releasing surveillance video of the shooting. We're about to show you in a moment. There's a warning that it is disturbing. Sarah. Ner. Is Out Front. This is the moment to Los Angeles County. Sheriff's deputies are ambushed. The shooter walks up to their parked squad car and Fires Multiple Times. Both are hit at point blank range outside of metro station in Compton. act. the two deputies were doing their job minding their own business watching out for the safety of the people on the train and. Seen some just walk up and just start shooting on them it. It pisses me off. A thirty one year, old mother and her twenty four year old partner a rushed to the hospital. Both have only been on the force fourteen months. The Sheriff says both were shot in the head. The female deputy was able to apply attorney came to her partner who was also bleeding from his arm recklessly they both survived. Outside the hospital, a small practice of just five people are so appears screaming at police. When says he hopes for the death of the deputies? iphone. The protester holding the phone identifies himself as a member of La's African town coalition a group not nationally known before he set out, he took to facebook I've been depressed, but this right here lightens my heart right because you know share department has murdered too many of our brothers and sisters matter of fact, law enforcement throughout the country has murdered too many of our brothers and says, this is the start of retribution. Then I think this is a very good. Starr's office the Mayor of Los Angeles. Reacting Strongly to his palace comments there's no place in civilized. Society for anybody to draw arm to shoot our law enforcement officers that put their lives on the line and I won't ever let a couple of voices that not only are uncalled for but it's important to say something like that both president trump and democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden weighing in on the shooting trump express his outrage to supporters in Nevada on Sunday you. So video of that animal that went up to the car did everybody see that There's animal this animal goes up to the car to unsuspecting fine people there was fine people. I mean they're in very grave condition as you know, Biden responded with this statement acts of lawlessness and violence directed against police officers are unacceptable outrageous and entirely counterproductive to the pursuit of greater peace and justice in America as are the actions of those who cheer such attacks on those who perpetrate these crimes must be brought to justice and if convicted face the full brunt of the law. And we spoke to a member of the community here who's lived here his whole life and he said as as a black business owner here he says, he absolutely is disgusted with hearing people say they hope that the deputies die he says absolutely no in this community truly believes that and they are praying for the deputies as for what is happening. But they are still in a major manhunt scenario looking for the person responsible for shooting these two deputies have they have just now up to the reward from one hundred, thousand to one, hundred, seventy, five, thousand to anyone with information that leads to an arrest. All. Right Sarah thank you a horrific.

California Wildfire Takes The Home Of A Veteran Firefighter

"Devastation in California from deadly wildfires is historic so far this year thousands of wildfires have devoured more than a million and a half acres an area more than three times larger than Los Angeles where I am the Lmu lightning complex fire is now the second largest in the state's history and the flames did not spare Andy Stan Dana's home. He's a twenty three year veteran with the South San Francisco Fire Department. He spent decades saving other people's homes A-. Lost everything as he put it less Wednesday, his farm, his home, many of his animals but he and his wife are safe and he and his wife Sarah Hawkins join me on the line from winters California about an hour northeast of San Francisco. Thank you both for taking some time for us. I can't imagine what you've been through. Thank you for having us. Anti I WANNA start with you, I mean as I said, you've been a firefighter for twenty three years your own property now, hard hit by this fire just talk to me about this fire if you've ever battled anything like. I have not in not many people can say that they've battled in fires or been in fires or experience fires. Of such size and magnitude and at the speed that this move. Seemed unprecedented will yeah I mean talked to any Andy you at home asleep and off-duty when when it came your property and can you take me to the moment when you realize that it was this out of control? We actually received multiple phone calls back to back from our neighbor than they lost everything also, but they called US woke up and said Hey. We've been giving notification from their son who is a local firefighter that it's bad. Up I went outside and did a quick assessment of what I could see and I could see The Ridge linked to behind us. All aglow and we're talking miles and miles of miles from my right to my left as I looked out the back door I hurried in and woke up Sarah. We quickly got dressed through a few things in bags. Made sure we had identification with us in a little bit of money in made sure the cars were pointed out I then went out to kind of assess what was going on based on my training and years of service saying what am I seeing and I've never seen a fire front of that size coming towards off sweep had fires back there in the past than it seemed like everything changed the winds picked up it turned ninety degrees on US instead of coming out of the West that came out of the north. and. The Sarah had joined me to kind of just see what was going on and by that time we turned around and realize there is a flaming front coming behind us. From our north and it was going to flank our exit we ran for the cars and we got out of there with flames. Close enough that I had to get in on the passenger side of the truck instead of the driver's side because it was too much fire on that side of the car to get in and we. Got Out it just came so quick. Well. I'm so. Relieved that you tour safe? Sarah what. was going through your mind I mean, did you feel like you were going to get out of there somehow? Lows pure adrenaline when we had gone out to assess where the flames were coming from where the fire was coming and all of a sudden just hear this roar from the North was kind of shocking that it was coming so fast and the flames were as high as they were they should not have been that high. And it was like we gotta go and I ran in the house and grabbed the dog and just I had to literally throw her into the car because she was so panicked at the flames and just. Get Out. Have you been able to assess what you've lost in what condition the properties in. We've lost everything. But our barn Oliver farming equipment, our greenhouse, the house, the house is just. A six inch layer of crumbled drywall and shattered tile. And We lost all of our Jeanne you're. does that we were retaining the GO-TO you're talking about him in Europe prize? Breeders? Should say. What are those goats mean to you? Have worked really hard on my breeding program and every year we have babies and I bottle feed all of them so that they'll be friendly and I know all of them I know all their names I delivered all of them there. It's It's not just a place obviously Sarah this is your livelihood and your business already we were in a in a pandemic in a faltering economy I mean how have you even begun to think about how you move forward and what's next now? Just, barely spend an hour or two just looking through. Shirts at a donation place and like shoes and supplies. We don't. You know we have a couple of t shirts and we have a couple of pairs of shorts. There's so much to do. Just regarding the house burning down. and. Trying to figure out next steps because there's not really much of a handbook on. When you're houses burned down where the two of you know I take it you're safe now. Yeah. We're currently staying with a friend best friends people ask if we're safe and we're like, we are safe. Now you know we do have a place to stay for now, but we can't stay here for six months. India are you go back into to? Fight these fires again soon or are you going to get some time away to deal with? What's how might department? My Department was Gracious. Enough to. Extend, as much time as I needed I I was able to take vacation for the immediate tour after it happened. But? Yes. I will be going back to work. Soon enough and will be there for the public as a protector in. Twenty years in the fire department another eight years before that on ambulances. So I've been serving the public for over thirty one years and continuing until. Retirement sometime in the near future. Andy. And Sarah Hawkins I'm I'm just glad you two are together and safe and You know we'll be thinking about you. Thank you. Thank you so much.

A Look At The Soon To Be Launched Statamic 3.0

"We are working on static three We announced it I think I was six. I was I just learned to ride a two wheel like and I said. Virgin threes, coming. In fast forward. Thirty one years here. I am It's how it feels as I mean at the at the one inch yard line. That's not doesn't make sense at the one yard line fourth and inches ready to I don't even watch a Lotta sports why using sports as a metaphor we're almost done and every every Monday. It's like, all right. We're GonNa Watch on Wednesday and then on Wednesday that close throat like probably, Monday? Yeah we're that close like we are so close that maybe Maybe, before this episode is live were launched. Nice. So you don't know what is the current status like the today is Monday three, ten pm eastern time yes. Is this a we're launching on Wednesday moment right now? No, no, no, no, no, no, no no. So on Friday I thought it was this next coming Wednesday, and then at four thirty, I found a section of the site that had been completely missed by my redesign and. Now. It's not just like it's not a lipstick page. It's like it's like a whole you X. thing. So I, have to spend a couple of days to work through that and when it affects the ability to buy something. Yeah. So it's bringing me next week pregnant next week early next week that seems like a good time to launch something. Yeah. Early next week sounds good I mean unless unless I like fall into a bucket adderall or something I think the only just GonNa take some more time. Yeah. Well. That's cool I. Hope you get it out then because that'll make for for some interesting podcast fodder for sure. So I guess like, got us this page that you discovered on Friday what else is kind of in the In the Tornado of launch. Launch Madness. So I mean there's there's a lot going into the relaunch. So it's Not just version bumper you click upgrade you know. We're changing the business model a little bit. The pricing structure is different. We're going like full open source. We have a free version that you can use for whatever okay you want what's the pricing difference? I'm always always loved to talk about pricing. So let's talk about it because it's it's too late to do anything about it. We already announced it. So here it is. What is it now like? Yeah. So right. Now as of August tenth at three twelve pm, it is a one, hundred, ninety, nine bucks one time for the life of the line. To like however long US v two. That's what it costs We have a free trial. You can use it like in Dev or for staging sites, but to launch site on ninety nine, that's it There's no other that's it So with V three, we are kind of going both directions. So we are pushing the price up to two fifty nine and we're adding an annual renewal that gives you support and updates. So that's fifty nine bucks a year. Per site, but we also have the free open source version for like Solo like hobby projects, personal site. So like a lot of people that are like Oh God I don't WanNa spend another fifty nine even more while probably don't have to pay anything for that site and it's gone really The sites that are higher of importance or have clients have teams working on them like what's the difference between one ninety, nine to fifty, nine, Yup. That makes sense to me. So. What's the difference in the Free Model? So currently, it's like free in development, right? So like running on local host, your building the site, you don't need a license to do that. But what is like the heuristic now for like you have to pay the two fifty nine People can use it for like what does it mean to use it? For quote unquote small sites or whatever. Yes. So we have like in the code, we lock out some features. So you get one super user account. You can't have multiple users. So you don't have permissions you don't have user groups you don't have all that stuff You don't have some of the more workflow team based features like revisions like you have different versions of content. So you can like you know schedule and publish you know like yet. So this version it's you've just had selective about trying to differentiate between like. kind of simple and sophisticated customers sort of choose. Things. Sophisticated people with budgets need that other people don't need. Those real time collaboration not that useful when you only have one user count, right? Yeah I would just. Turn that off also the get integration in the control panel so the assumption would be. that if you're a solo person, you're probably the developer right? Because if you only have one person on project, you should be able to code. and. So you don't need to control panel get stuff. So that will also be a pro pro feature.

Lamar Jackson seems to welcome Ravens potentially signing Dez Bryant

"Dez Bryant Free Agent Wide Receiver reportedly in the Baltimore area for a workout with the Ravens Lamar Jackson was asked of a possible playing with three time Pro Bowler we've got a lot of great receivers in the team right now it's up the phenomenon but seeing desperate on instagram stuff like that running his routes competing against quarterback he's looking pretty good on social media if the. Front Office Lights, and we'll have to see when he gets you Brian has made it clear intrigued by the possibility of playing with Lamar Jackson quite the fall from grace from Desmond. What star he was he's thirty one years of age. Where do you think I'm GonNa come back with the Ravens for Dez Bryant I you know I think the issue with Dez has always been. When he goes outside the system, I mean, remember this is a guy that you know the cowboys wanted to take a pay cut to let's go back. Remember I think he was making sixteen million. I could have the numbers com wrong but it's in that area and he was clearly not playing to that level. He didn't have any bursts at the top of the route. He didn't separate his hands where we're really inconsistent, which is an indication of players, loosener legs he. Didn't he's not a guy who's to line up at multiple positions and still function really well because he needs to have a kind of like he needs to be a one place he needs to have his routes. He's not as a thinker of the of the game as he plays. You know he's a slower processing player. So for me learning a new offense with this guy, you know he's worth putting on the team from an executive standpoint if I signed Dez Bryant. And he's not my starting extra my starting see what am I getting out of them so okay, let's go through it. So if I sign them to say a minimum deal, two, million dollars. So I'm on the hook for a million bucks. Okay. If he makes the team on the Saturday of the before the opening game I guarantee salary for a year I got no flexibility there. Right. He can't help me at all in the kicking game. So unless he starting playing in the three receivers set, you know then he's not going to be active. So now I'm paying millions of dollars for a guy that I'm not gonNa have active now if he can. And he's GonNa make a big difference to my team. You know we drafted two receivers one in the third one in the six you know. So those two guys gotta take a back seat. They're cheaper labor force like none of this adds up like if you told me, you want sign Antonio Brown and you WanNa take on the game suspension young. Okay. Because I promise you Antonio Brown walks onto the field. There is nobody on Baltimore steam as good as they think they are at receiver and they have good receivers. There's nobody on that football team as good as Antonio Brown but he's the best player he's the best receiver on the team, but if Dez Bryant walks in. You know is he better than Hollywood? Brown no is see better. The Miles Birkett are Chris more or Willie snead. You know they drafted the dump Rene Texas they drafted the poor kid in the sixth round. So they got two young kids that they drafted like, where does he fit and then I I'm exposed at a million like these are all things like this is called second. Order thinking like it's one thing the media makes this big deal with says, bright. Well, you know does Bryant. Five years ago was a good player does Brian today may not be a good player just because he's a named certainly has from the past that's a different story as to how could translate this season

Kodak Crashes 85% from Recent Peak

"Kodak. We've been all over this for the past two weeks. Right I told you they got a seven hundred and sixty five million dollar loan to get into the drug. Business Kodak the Film Camera Company getting into the drug business. Turns out in their one hundred thirty, one year history they actually were in the drug business for six years from one, thousand, nine, hundred, eighty, nine, hundred, ninety, four, it was a failure they got out and it's notable that they got in one thousand nine, hundred, eighty, two years before the recession set in right typical top of the cycle de Worse vacation kind of acquisition move for for a company is being managed into into the ground so. That's where it to the reason episode again and and we're back in the drug business with this seven, hundred, sixty, five, million dollar loan from the government I thought that was just kind of crazy enough all by itself because sent the stock soaring from to sixty two on a Monday to sixty dollars at the peak on a Wednesday in you know the third trading session of the week that week. Just insane. That was crazy enough right. Then what are we talk about last week? Well, they granted themselves stock options the day before announcement like that's not fishy like. Crony capitalist move, you know to just try to rake some of his money off the top of the management team. Okay. Now. This Week There's well other stuff going on. So so since last we talked the SEC is investigating this thing. And the loan from the. International, the government agencies called the DNC, the Development Finance Corporation the DNC loan is on hold. And the stock as I speak Ios below ten bucks again, and if you look at the stock chart of the last several days, it looks like it was flatlined. You know like somebody whose heart stopped and then wham the hit it with the paddles and now it looks like his heart stopped again it's a ridiculous episode but I feel like I need to clarify something because of at least one feedback email I got in this case. No, it is not okay for these executives to get stock option grants it's not okay and it wasn't okay for them to get them. I don't believe even back in May. Right I put together a time line I wrote a whole piece about this for the stands very digest and I put together a time line and my timeline showed that the order the executive order from President Trump. Was May fourteenth. Two days before that Kodak moves seventy million dollars from a Chinese subsidiary to a US subsidiary quote in anticipation of an intercompany transaction and quote I believe starting up a new pharmaceutical subsidiary constitutes an intercompany transaction, right? So that was actually made twelfth may fourteenth. Trump is used the executive order and invokes the defense production act and says, Hey, you know, let's lend money to companies so that we can produce drugs domestically because too much drug production is overseas in places like China and India by the way if you research that, it's not completely true. We'll talk about that. Maybe another day Kodak made the director option grants the first time on May twentieth today their annual meeting. So, eight days before they're moving money from Chinese from a foreign subsidiary to to a US subsidiary anticipation of a major transaction. Then trump invokes this defense production act, which is just appropriates money for national security right two days later, then six days later, they grant themselves these options at premium prices. Then approximately may eighth according to an interview with the CEO Kodak, and this government agencies start talking about its new drug business. Then on July twenty seven, these idiots grant themselves more options. Then July twenty eighth and it leaks out stock was up twenty, five percent that day the news leaked out. and. Then Twenty John Twenty as the big announcement right? Seven, hundred, sixty, five, million dollar loan to Kodak the shares were up four fold that day July twenty, ninth the stock price hit sixty dollars. And the volume that day is like a hundred and sixty times the previous day and the previous day was twenty, two times the David were that. Next Day July thirtieth a fellow called Mike or non gap thoughts. Which is a a newsletter that he writes on sub stack non gap thoughts. He writes this article citing these suspicious option grant dates when and strike prices next day July thirty fourth. Wall Street? Journal publishes an article citing the potential you know ninety, they said ninety five million dollar windfall for CEO Jim Continente. And there were others on on the Management Team received the options to August. Fourth Wall Street Journal publishes an article citing a new SEC investigation into the disclosure of the loan and the option grants right because it looked like the the loan with the news of the Lomas leaked out on the twenty seventh I think is really what they were concerned about. But the whole thing stinks and let me tell you something what I alluded to earlier when I said I need to make something clear about this. This is not the way capitalism is supposed to work. A corporate management team is supposed to make a lot of money. They're supposed to get ninety five million dollars for creating a business that has performed well for a period of time. That has generated you know for ninety, five, million bucks. You'd better be generating you know at least a billion or more couple of billion hopefully in free cash flow over a period of time consistently, right a real sustainable business for that kind of reward. You don't get paid that kind of money just for getting a loan to be in a business that you were in for six years out of your one, hundred, thirty, one year history and sucked at. Okay that's not the way this is supposed to work. This is the ranking crony capitalism, the EST crony capitalism. And crony capitalism is when you get paid for no in people, right it starts looking suspicious back in May when they're moving seventy million bucks from China to the US, it looks like they already knew they were going to do something and then Oh, two days later trump invokes this this executive order appropriating these loans for this kind of stuff and then up six days. Later, we start granting ourselves options at prices that suggests we know the stock is GonNa take off like a rocket ship. Then we do it again on July twenty seven just to show you how utterly stupid we are. This is not the way it's supposed to work they basically what they did here was. They just took money from well, you know this government money. So you could say they took taxpayer money and they said how can we get way too much of this money in our own pockets? Oh, I know let's grant ourselves a bunch of options. Okay, your stand. Now, I don't have a problem with option grants in general I. Realize people need to be incentivized. It's just the way. Things are nowadays right to to attract good management. You gotta pay them. What looks like way too much money a lot of the time, but this is not that. This is a management team taking money from taxpayers and really taken ultimately from shareholders as well. They're given themselves equity for free that the shareholders have to buy in the market. This isn't the only episode of this. You'RE GONNA see there was a smaller episode that I I kinda filed this way I didn't think I was going to mention it but there was a guy. David? T hines in a story in the Washington. Post. July. Twenty Eighth I mean it's all allegations so I don't know I'll just say this poor fool apparently borrowed four million dollars in this federal PPP paycheck paycheck protection program it was part of the cares act. Right. The cares act was that two trillion dollar corona virus bill that was signed into law in March and included three hundred and forty, nine billion in forgivable loans for small businesses to maintain operating expenses. Mostly payroll, right? That's why it's called. PAYCHECK protection program. So you can just pay your employees even though maybe you're running a restaurant and they have to stay home because of the cove in nineteen, right. So this guy gets four million from this program and then a week later people see him riding around. Miami beach in a Lamborghini. A brand new Lamborghini Lamborghini. Hurricana. Which I guess. That's an electric Lamborghini costs more than three hundred, eighteen, thousand dollars again, how stupid is this guy? That's like granting yourself options the day before the loan announcement. And of course, these things are ripe for. For, this kind of abuse, this is what you get went when the government starts literally like throwing money around all, this is done very very hastily right because we think we have to act we have to act now. and. So this is what you wind up with. You wind up with Kodak and you wind up with this poor sad sack who who thought he wasn't GonNa get caught when he use P P peabody to buy a fricking Lamborghini. It's you know somebody's going to include that in some kind of TV you know some kind of fictional TV show because it's just too priceless. So that's where we are that. That's where we are in. You know the state of of all things financial in August of twenty twenty. Boy Twenty twenty is the weirdest fricken year. I mean things that I won't even get into some of the things that that people I know have been exposed to this year, but it's just. So it's also utterly weird when you shut who who'd a thunk who'd a thunk when you shut down the global economy because you're afraid everybody's going to get the flu or whatever. That all of this stuff would happen that you would get people you know in Lamborghinis with government money and you know Kodak Management taking money out of taxpayers, pockets would have thunk it. Anybody. With a brain is the answer to that one anybody with a brain. And what what you do about what you do about it well. Look we told I told you to avoid Kodak because. People look at that kind of action and the knee jerk. The thing that's built into your brain you know that's that's been kind of evolving for hundreds of thousands of years in complete evolved for hundreds of thousands of years completely different circumstances that have nothing to do with investing. So immediately, as soon as you see that surge Kodak you want hit the buy button but I'm telling you it's deadly and wrong every single time

Final Derby Dress Rehearsals

"The favourite for Saturday's travers stakes is the Belmont stakes winner Tis the law, the owners of the law, a group of fairly regular guys from the Saratoga area they go by Saka. Toga stables are the same guys who owned funny side the winner of the two, thousand, three, Kentucky Derby and preakness they showed up to each triple crown race in a yellow school bus, not a limo. It was a scene to which many of us could relate but I'm going to give you a comparison of two other. Owners of horses running in Saturday's travers they are and Lori Hall who owned the Third Place Finisher in the Belmont Max Player and Orlando and Jonathan Noda who liked their travers entrant I line are the longest of longshots George Hall is the founder of a Hedge Fund, the Clinton Group that company's assets reached a high of five and a half billion dollars in two thousand, sixteen. Orlando Noda is a thirty one year old trainer who co all of his horses with his brother. Jonathan who's in the car business? George Hall and his wife Lori sold a six level. Manhattan penthouse in two thousand seventeen for somewhere around thirty eight million dollars. Orlando notice biggest return on investment so far has been the horse not loves a fight who not claimed for ten thousand dollars in May of two, thousand nineteen and whose win a month later represented his trainers I ever. T loves a fight won four races for his trainer and finished second last week in the John Morrissey at Saratoga. You. Get the idea Max player for George and Lori. Hall won the withers stakes back in February and finished third in the Belmont. STAKES IN JUNE FIRST LINE FOR ORLANDO. Noda just earned his first win in four tries and he's returning on only ten days rest to take on an imposing field. But if his trainers story is any harbinger, don't count first line out and we are pleased to welcome to win the game for the first time the trainer of First Line Orlando Noda what went into the decision to turn this horse around in just ten days. The horse came out of it good and I nominated him prior to even run especially. Like figure that especially wasn't GonNa go I was I was GONNA test my luck there and restaurant him because. The horse had shown me talent ever since I had him and I think got strike while the iron is hot right now and everything is just clicking on all cylinders. So I. Think we're just going to give it a go is not every day that we can have a three year old peak at the right time via because of this corona virus that maybe I might might just be able to pull off the upset and get my derby points that that I high horse up about the beginning. You would said to a couple of racing aficionados over the winter that you had a derby horse and first line what made you think that then Oh no the horses super talented it from the first time that we breathed him. We knew we had something special. I'm not the lightest of riders and horses just noting on track with me and I just can't picture it. Any other way because everything has played out to where it should as he broke his. Maiden here in Saratoga and I think the past two races, six furlongs, it was just the the too short for him for his long strident. He just went comfortable and those fractions buying the mollering Nathan not many horses hold up biting the whole time that they are at the top of the stretch hometown in first line and they've been at it. Right from the START I line on the outside pokes ahead and front hometown continues to battle down at the rail. Now, they're at the eighth bowl it is first line and hometown go to battle for a mile and a furlong here first line hud and front hometown not giving up they come for the finish and first line is first under the wire. Race I'm wondering if he's even cooled out yet from that race, I mean that was affirmed and Alydar Rier Dan Against Jaipur was neck and neck for a mile and an eighth I mean, how do you think that part of a racist going to affect him the ten days notwithstanding? Even fresh I'm not doing much with him and. Keep Afresh to the to the race. Then you gotta show up on the race checking in, and that's how he is all game once it gets onto the track. IS A. Very level-headed. Once once he gets into training just like train I'm just giving just. Keep them -freshing raider fire. For for the drivers.

"More sad news. Today also marks seven years since Glee Star Cory Montas passed away. Corey was just thirty one years old when he died from an overdose in two thousand thirteen. I. How to Be a Vision-Driven Leader with Michael Hyatt

"I was in the coaching conversation with the business owner, the other day and we were walking through some of the powerful questions that every business leader should be answering questions one was. Why do you exist as a business? And they had the answer that question question to? What you stand for as a business, and they were able to answer that question as well and then the third question I asked him was wear. Is Your Business going and I'll never forget? They looked at me and they said I don't know. From the Ramsey network is the entree viewership podcast where we help business leaders themselves, their teams, and their profits I'm your host Alex Judd and the answer to that question of where are we going is found in your organization's vision and today we talked to someone who's both a practitioner and teacher on this topic of clarifying and executing on a crystal clear vision today. We're talking with Michael Hyatt and Michael. Hyatt has had a lot of success in the arena of vision and growth with the company that is currently running. It's a lesson that he actually learned from a failure when he tried to start his first publishing house at thirty one years old. We started back in nineteen, eighty six, and we had the good fortune of publishing oral hershiser's biography. Now he was the themed Pitcher of the dodgers, and they had just won the world series. He was a household name. Everybody'd heard of him. The book rocketed to the top of the New York Times bestseller list and it was there for seven months. And so it brought in a ton of cash a lot of notoriety and thinks that happens. Is you become successful as you start attracting a lot of opportunities, but if you're not careful, opportunities or distraction, show up on your doorstep, and you can't tell the difference between opportunities and distractions so distractions masquerades opportunities, so it happened us, so we decided you know we were bulletproof. In everything we touched turned to gold, so we thought we'll publish. Reference Books will publish. Gift books will publish children's books. We've been published a large Bible project. The problem was it fractured our focus it. Our resources and that business went bust. And, the reason it happened was because we didn't have a vision that we're starting with. It would be akin to deciding. You're going to add an addition onto your house. And as long as the Home Depot truck shows up and keeps unloading lumber and sheet rock, and you just keep building adding on, and that's exactly what we did. There was no blueprint. There was no plan and we failed for lack of vision, which is exactly interestingly what the book of proverbs says that without vision the people perish. That is so fascinating and I think it's one of those things that. That in leadership, courses and classes and books. We read about it all the time. You have to have a vision. If you're going to be leader, but so often, it seems like they dismissed. Thing that no one knows what it actually is, so can you? Can you set the record straight right now? When you say you need to have a vision as a leader? What are you actually talking about? Not. Talking about is a vision statement. You know we've been told that we need to have this short. Brief almo, slogan or motto that we could put on a coffee Mug or that. We had put on a bumper sticker. Can't. That's not robust enough so when I talk about vision. I'm talking about a vision script, and specifically I mean at this way. It's a written document. That's three to five pages in length. Okay, so it's going to be more robust and pithy thing but something. That's really thoughtful. The describes a future state. It outlines a clear, inspiring, practical and attractive picture of your organization's, future. Here's it's fun. It describes reality as you see it. Three to five years from now. And it's written in the present tense as though it's already happened. Now when you begin to do that, will you begin to visualize something like that? Right in the present tense? That's the first process of creating anything. And I basically learned this process the big idea from Stephen, Covey who said begin with the end in mind. And so to start a business or even a department, that's a part of a large organization without a vision. Is kind of a fool's errand. Leadership leadership presupposes that you know where you're going. You're going somewhere. You know where you're going. But if you don't know where you're going, right, how can you lead anybody there? Yeah. It's gotTa start. With vision. You jumped into this four terms already clear, inspiring, practical and attractive. I want us to jump into kind of the tactical of what those words look like. You're just a bit, but I love the fact that you say that this is robust, so it's not a pithy statement is catching that vision. Is that something that comes from? Is it a skill that can be developed, is it? A wiring is a gifting as A. A personality trait because sometimes we call people visionary, and it just makes it seem like okay well. They're visionary, which means if I'm not a visionary than I can't do right. That's a lot of people. Give up before they start because they think of somebody like Steve Jobs. That's right, you know. He could stand up and not only hold the stage, but I mean he. Had you totally into that reality distortion zone. Actually vision you know. His wife famously said at his memorial service that Steve Not only saw reality clearly, but he saw what reality lacked. And why it was imperative to bridge that gap between what he saw, and what could be so every other cell manufacturer saw that the market was saturated that every cell phone that could possibly be invented had been invented besieged, said Nope I got a different idea, and it was the iphone. As we know it today,

Apple forces the industry down to one-year web browser certificate lifespans

"February We talked about apple's surprise announcement during the CA Browser Forum. That in the future. And this was just unilateral that in the future it. First Affari on all of its platforms would rejecting any web server certificate having a not valid before date, which is technically the way the the date ranges stated, so it's very clear, not valid before. Date after August thirty first of this year of Twenty Twenty! And, which has a certificate lifetime greater than total lifetime greater than three hundred ninety eight days, so in other words starting just two months from now that is to say from September first on all CA certificates issued for use by web. Browsers must be issued with a one year plus thirty three days lifetime or shorter, not longer so this is the death of the more arguably convenient two or three year web server search that we've traditionally been using. Essentially sort of apple, biting the bullet and pushing an issue that the various non certificate authority participants in the so-called. The CAB forum to see a browser forum had been asking for for a long time. Google had put forth this issue. This measure for a vote at at the prior meeting and it had been in voted down. In a partisan vote by the certificate authorities said No. We don't want to shorten. Server certificates to a year. Well, Apple said okay tough. We're just we're just knocking on. Accept any and arguably safari is strong enough that Basically. They forced the issue so. When I talked about this initially in February. I discussed the many implications of this in great depth and detail so I'm not going to go into all that again if anyone. has joined us since then or wants a refresher. It's back in February. The reason this is back in the news. Is that now? The other two significant browsers in the industry, Mozilla and Google. Premium based offshoots of of Google's chrome browser have also announced there exactly aligned policies yes. Roy. Resting Wow. Yes that'll Ryan sleepy. Yeah he posted in. As sort of like they're, they're equivalent of things. We're going to change in the chromium blog. He said in force three ninety eight day validity for certificates issued on or after twenty, twenty, nine, a one September first of this year, and then the body of the messages enforce publicly trusted t LS server certificates have a lifetime of three hundred ninety eight days or less, if they are issued honor after you know September first twenty twenty and he said certificates that violate this will be rejected with an and the error. is error certificate validity too long and we'll be treated as miss issued. And also following up. Mozilla is Kathleen Wilson posted. Limit Reuse of domain name verification to three ninety five days and that was. A pound two. Oh six. And I think she did say three ninety five. I copied and pasted so that they're off by three three ninety eight. I believe that because our member three thirty one year plus thirty three was. That's just sort of give people a little bit such room. So. There is a long and very interesting discussion for people who've like such things. among the industry insiders who are the ones who make these essentially earthmoving decisions so I've included the Google groups discussion through a link in the show notes for anyone who's interested. I. Mean It's you know it's back and forth and a lot of discussion, but basically it comes down to well. You know this is what we wanted. Thank you apple for a biting the bullet. I. WE'RE ALL GONNA. Jump on board, so I mean so. And you know th the certificate authorities will end up changing their model rather than like for example you having to have a a cash transaction annually. You'll be able to. Purchase some block of time that you WANNA have certificates from them. And I imagine since that does create a little bit of lock in that they may extend that. You know they may say. Hey, we know. Stay with us, com-, commit to staying with us for ten years and we will lower the per year cost of certificates, and then it'll be like you know you log into your account, and basically you re issue a certificate before the one you have expires. What this will also do. We always run across instances where people are forgetting or sort of. Like it laps, or maybe it's a holiday, or it's a covert nineteen event one way or the other server certificates are expiring, and they're finding out only when people are screaming that they can no longer access the website, so maybe it being an annual thing, and it's as opposed to for example every three years, which maybe you're more likely to forget. That might help prevent that

Thirty two Facebook pages and accounts were working in concert with. Each other to do something now what that something. Is was it meddling or is it attempted meddling. In the midterm elections in November there's a suspicion that yes that very likely given the. Timing of the creation of the accounts has to do with why they were created at this point Facebook is still in the investigative phase and they have been in an investigator phase throughout the platform for months now really since the Cambridge analytical, scandal came to light since Mark Zuckerberg the CEO and founder was on Capitol Hill earlier this year was called on by lawmakers to, do more you're hearing more of those. For these thirty two fake accounts yeah they said there were things. That. Look similar, to what they saw with ROY Russian IRA influence in the two thousand sixteen election because there was that influence on Facebook Ben. They said there were similarities, and connections but at this point there are no Russian IP addresses associated with, these particular accounts they went, to great lengths to conceal even more so and that was some of the interesting point that Facebook made is that the bad, actors are getting better and better that they are a determined well funded and a constantly changing of their tactics bunch, which is what makes it more complicated business Facebook's. Argument that makes, it far more complicated for Facebook to do anything but to your point about congress I mean if you.
