It it didn't really make the impact on mobile that you would expect it. Although we talked previously about Intel's woes kind of getting products out the door. And that's just something that we had just totally foreign to anybody who has gone to any of these shows covered industry for the last five or six years when any gaming laptop period or productivity machine. Because so much of Intel's Technical Prowess or engineering focus over the last few years has not been about like upping the amount of work clock cycles so so much as they have been working on reducing the amount of energy consumed by the processor at all and the associated chipsets sets and everything else around it and they have a lot of fairly serious engineering accurate and tied up in that we think you know and part of the reason we think that or I think that is because you know until told us for years at the Pierre is not the big power consumer the CPR is not too big power. It's the screen. And then they get a massive Chains they just re architect it the way they handled You know the power of the processor and all of a sudden battery lice went up like fifty percent and it was just kind of like okay. That happened but to get back to where you were going. I think if if you can you get more performance but you have to. The battery life is becomes less compelling story. I think they have to deliver battery Park. That is comparable to the Intel parts or the battery. Life's for us to. I mean this is exciting though I really WanNa see whether or not you know. So that there's a central apparatus in Washington DC and in the state capitals, which would carry out Washington's orders that would provide a new deal for Americans that would wipe out any kind of climate menace. Now, this is insane on a number of fronts, but the most important for the younger Americans to understand. And I don't believe they will is that you are basically saying we'd like Joseph Stalin that come in here and run the United States because you cannot impose this kind of things green new deal unless you have to tala -tarian ISM UK. The government has to say this is what you're going to do. And if you don't do it. We're gonna punish you. So if you drive a car that we don't like you'll be fine. We'll take the car away or roller arrest, you if you eat food that we don't believe is proper. We're gonna make you pay for it not food, but the action of actually eating it. So it becomes a dependency and many many young Americans may be most are willing to sacrifice their autonomy for dependency. They want to be dependent on government to tell them what to do because then climate change would go away. I'm telling you, ladies, gentlemen, I've seen some pretty frightening things in my forty five years in journalism when I read the polls say millions and millions of Americans under the age of thirty five watt socialism want the green new deal think that will cost yo Cortez Baidoa Rourke, and the others are brilliant people. Of thirty five watt part is considered kind of like your high end typically even now but fifteen watts especially those the thirty five hundred you the thirty three hundred you could see those in some smaller form factors perhaps and sort of a similar thing to what you can currently find on the market with those ubiquitous core, I five thin in light, laptops. AMD announce availability of their Athlon processor with Vega graphics API users and based the two hundred g e series, although thus far only the two hundred GE is for sale anywhere that I've seen actually on new right now looking and I don't see the two twenty or. Just the two hundred. But what these are. You're basically getting dual core for thread parts with. I think these all have the same graphics core. They'll have a three see you graphic score running at one gigahertz. These are all thirty five watt parts. So what these kind of looked like to me is this this is in at thirty five watts. That's like high end mobile where you know, Intel's high end mobile stuff goes up to forty five watts. I think the h k or is it H Q parts. So this these almost could be notebook parts or small form factor. PC parts many PC parts if they're actively cooled, but certainly for some sort of lower power application, it provides some interesting possibilities in the market, depending on exactly what form factor, you're going. After what you're building with it. But. That's a nice little. It's a nice little option for only fifty five bucks for two hundred GE. And of course, you know, when they when they start, you know, pumping these things out, and it's going to be cheaper three point two gigahertz is not exactly extremely fast. But for the kind of application, you're looking at it's still going to be of decent gaming processor. It's. You know going to have graphics on there. I mean, if you want to build a little machine for mom and dad, then this is certainly something you can do and be extremely inexpensive. And I, but you know, still snappy. It'll to still have good three d capabilities and support you get up there with the two twenty in to forty. Yeah. Yeah. And the only difference is just the clasping team up was he goes up a little bit. You're paying ten bucks for two hundred megahertz base..

"That a little later this hour, we're going to have a great conversation about a completely different kind of light the light that you see from the moon cast by planet earth will be talking with Apollo eight astronaut Bill Anders a little later this hour, but first let's start with this conversation about super bright headlights on American roads. And joining us from Leith, New York is John blow. He's director of transportation and safety lighting programs at Rensselaer polytechnic institute, and he's conducted research on nighttime driving and the crash risk of glare for the federal highway administration. John below welcome to on point. Hello meghna. Thank you for having me. It's great to have you and thanks for joining us on Christmas Eve as well. I should say, so, you know, the Genesis of this conversation for us at the program was one of our producers brought the idea to the table and at first. No. There was kind of like a why should we be talking about this now? And then everyone kind of at the sudden said, but this is a real thing feels like as if in the past five or ten years headlights have been getting so much brighter on cars at night. So is anecdotal or have they? Well, it's the same question. I when I tell people I work at a place called the lighting research center, half the time. That's the first question that I hear is. Can you do something about those headlights? So I do think there are some things that have been going on with with headlight technology that have made that problem. Much more obvious to people, you know, what made it obvious to me. And again, I know their limits total evidence but a couple of years ago. I started finding myself squinting a lot when I'd be driving at night and there'd be oncoming headlights. And I thought okay. I mean, I'm not in my twenties anymore, but I'm also not in my sixties or even fifties. So what's going on there? And then there after not long after that it was for. Enough to take a European vacation. And I noticed that I was never squinting with super bright headlights or very infrequently in Europe. So is there a difference between what sold in the United States, and what sold in Europe, there are some differences. There actually are probably a little bit more of these high intensity discharge or H I D sometimes called Zenana headlights as well as light emitting diodes in other parts of the world, especially in Europe, and that in the United States, but like you said, those those systems are different in some ways. There are limits in the regulations outside of the United States that require a headlight that produces a lot of lumens or a lot of light output to have autumn attic leveling systems to and to have little washing systems. So sometimes these are actually little water sprays or even little mini windshield. Wipers on the headlight lens to help reduce glare for oncoming drivers. You don't have those in the United States. All right. So we'll talk more about that in a minute because that's really interesting difference here. But first of all tell us with these LED's that came on the market years ago in these high intensity discharge lamps that we're talking about as well, how much brighter are they actually than you know, the older halogen that we all grew up with. Well, it depends on how you define brighter in terms of the the maximum intensity or the peak brightness, the headlights are all pretty much the same. Whether they're using a halogen lamp, which is the the sort of incandescent filament that we were used to or a Zenana or an LED. But because these light sources like Zena LED are more efficient, they produce more lumens for the same number of watts. And so sometimes you find a thirty five watt H I headlight produces about twice as much light as a fifty five watt halogen headlight, which is on many of our cars now that light won't necessarily get put right down the middle of the road because the headlight requirements are the same no matter what kind of lamp you have that extra light gets spread out. More peripheral areas than we tend to notice that a lot more driving on curves or especially hills. Okay. So explain this a little bit more Jimmy. So like LED is one of the great things about them as you mentioned is that they put out a lot of light for less power..
