This is going to be like this is. This is the bottom of my tax all suit officer tax ranch for sure Not opening anything worse than this gets folded around to the big blind to believe is a rag who flats flop queen of spades five spades. Eight of clubs the big blind checks i think see strategy can go lots of different ways especially with the gutter like two overs to middle. I think betting third here is fine with your range. Think this hand can also go in like your big bet categories. Sometimes if you're playing a big bet and check strategy. I decided to check this one. I think i really want to get into details. I think like jackson with a spade. I would certainly Throw into the big bet. Category just the naked gutter. I decided to check back. I just realized yawned. While you were talking. The youtube audience just see sees me yawning. While you're talking about your betting strategy for what it's worth. I spent a whole day watching the braves play in the sun so i need a little bit of a nap. If you're watching me on youtube you can tell like i. Don't get in the son very much. It's pretty clear not that your commentary on your seabed. Strategy is boring on the flop precaution. I'll i'll let you have young. Have one young so you go check the attorneys at ten of diamonds. So you turn second pair now keep going on what happens here on the term big blind Goes with a pretty big thirty five dollars to fifty no way. I'm folding jackson. Here we have the best end if you don't have out to improve just lots and lots of for the big to pull from on this tour to tone on a very straight e board so Don't think i'm going to do anything else. But call with ten. Jack and i mean you need twenty nine percent equity to continue and there's just not a world where you don't have twenty nine percent with your hand against the range so pretty slam dunk easy mode call and now you river. The to pair. The final board is queen of spades five. Spades eight of clubs. Ten of diamonds. Jack of diamonds. So you're ever to pair and villain. Does this little ditty a little bit of an overbid here down light over but hundred twenty five percent about one forty eight and a one twenty one and now i guess. Tell me. tell me your line of thinking here that leads to this thing that you do okay so when i'm really tired so it's going to be a handle on this one. When the villain when villanova richer assuming his range is going to be just straits like nine x four value and a handful of bluffs like brick spades or you know six seven sorts of hands for his bluffs thought that maybe i could get him to fold nine next year. I just jammed given that. I know for fact that like he never has as king and i can certainly have as king Taking this line. The as kenya's for sure that i would check back on the slop and you know calling the bet on the turn once i have choo overs nut. Gutter is pretty reasonable as well. You know what. I'm jamming here like. I'm clearly like trying to like out nine some of the time. I don't know how often that happens. I'm like really praying. He doesn't have canine. That's like a big of a concern. Because i assume you just never ever full king nine. I just ripped it here with two pair trying to get them to fold everything

TSLA is The Chosen One Says Morgan Stanley, Price Target to $810
"Everybody rob power here and today. We're talking about a new note on tesla's stock from morgan stanley. They have increased their price targets significantly. Today after hours. We also have some news on the full. Self-driving beta report on monowai gross margins from china and some news that riven may be raising some more capital taking a look at the stock tussle. Today finished up zero point seven percent to seven hundred and thirty five dollars eleven cents that actually did trail the nasdaq which was up about one percent. But hereafter hours worth. Things have started to get more interesting. After morgan stanley released their updated tussle note. Tesla has jumped by about ten to fifteen dollars. One and a half two percent to read around seven hundred fifty dollars per share otherwise news on tesla was fairly light today. So we're gonna spend most of our time here looking at that note. And as i always say when we look at analyst notes a lot of this is just contextual and it gives us good jumping off points for discussion and things like this also gives us good perspective and insight into the kind of information. That's being circulated around the street. So right off the bat here. This morgan stanley note comes with a great headline. They title the no quote the chosen. One tesla industrializes internet of cars target two eight hundred and ten dollars and quote. That is a huge fifty percent increase over the previous price. Target of five hundred and forty dollars per share. They write quote. We update our forecasts and long-term assumptions. Following better-than-expected cue for deliveries sixty one percent year over year growth and five billion dollar capris raising twenty thirty volume to five point. Zero million units versus three point eight million and taking the price target two hundred ten dollars. Tesla is richly valued for a reason reiterate overweight and quote. Okay so what has changed. Here with morgan stanley's assumptions that has led to this fifty percent price targeted increase while they say they had better than expected volume this year. You four specifically. There's been a significant capillaries. And of course tesla was added to the s. and p. five hundred. So they beat morgan stanley's projection. They have risked and they've been added the s. and p. five hundred which has reduced the float effectively reducing the supply of tesla shares as for the actual changes to their model driving this higher price target. They say that quote the majority of the price target increase comes from the impact of our higher volume assumptions in our model and quote as i said they have increased their twenty thirty delivery forecast from three point. Eight million vehicles to five point two million vehicles and they say that they have now added to factories to their forecast for twenty thirty bringing their total tesla. Plant count to ten. I think that factory count is actually probably pretty close but that would only be you know. Five hundred eighty thousand vehicles per factory by twenty thirty. But it's become very clear. That tesla actually has ambitions of producing two million vehicles or so per factory per year. At least in the case of texas and dig your berlin shanghai. They've said one million plus so even just those factories plus fremont if can hit their production targets in those factories. Gets you to more than five. Point two million that jonas projecting here for twenty thirty as for their earlier year forecasts for twenty twenty one they have increased their projection from seven hundred seventy eight thousand previously now to seven hundred ninety two thousand and as a reminder just as recently as july they had actually been projecting just six hundred and twenty thousand four twenty twenty one so they've actually up that by about thirty percent in just the last six months for twenty twenty two the forecasting one point one five million. I'm not sure what that was previously for. Twenty twenty three. Then they are up from one point. Three five million previously now to one point seven million the fun thing about these increased volume targets from morgan stanley. Is that a few months ago. They did what they called. A great tesla rating. They started including things like mobility services as a recurring revenue from autonomy in their price target. So they're sort of having this ongoing opera moment this year. That as they now add vehicle volume into their forecast they now have to add additional services and revenue margin as well and that is where the game changes in terms of valuation for tusla. And the thing is you. Don't even need a fully autonomous robot taxi type of service to start adding that services revenue in when tesla's starts offering full self driving as a subscription. I think that is going to open a lot. Of analyst is to how tesla's business model is structured and will be increasingly structured going forward leveraging software. It's already easy to say. As i've said in the past that if you want to compare valuations show me another automaker that is selling a ten thousand dollar software option then we can make those comparisons but because that is all sort of right now lumped into the same revenue the same margin line on tussles earnings. People just aren't willing to recognize that yet as a separate line of business when tesla's starts offering full self driving a subscription even if they don't break that out on their earnings that forces a change in how analysts are forecasting and modeling tesla they have to start forecasting recurring high-margin revenue right. Now that's basically all just being pulled forward into that simple ten thousand dollar option which is great but it also makes it easier to ignore the other factor making it easier to ignore right now. Is that a big portion of that is still currently deferred revenue. So it's not actually showing up in earnings. But as tessa delivers more features this year less of that is going to be deferred tussles valuation in and of itself is playing a role here too because it has become so massive analysts have to cover this. They have to cover well. They're getting more and more resources to cover it. They're getting more and more questions as tesla's been added to the s. and p. five hundred those benchmarked funds managers. They need to know what to do with the stock so the coverage is just getting more and more intense and again because the evaluation hide they're going to be a lot of analysts running numbers sort of back testing against that valuation. Saying okay to justify this. This is what needs to happen for the company.
The AirPods Max Review
"Review time again but this time headphones specifically the airpods max. I'll stick to one review today to stand for all the others so as usual. I'm gonna pick the verge with chris. Welsh chris says the airpods max have a luxury design. They have terrific sound quality. They're very effective at noise cancellation. But they are heavy. The lack of a three point five millimeter headphone. Jack means these are not headphones. You can use anywhere for anything and his words here. The included case is an abomination. I about that case. And then about the headphone jack and then his conclusions about the headphones themselves quote far and away. The worst thing about the airpods. Max is their case. If you can call it that which i consider generous look putting aside all the memes about looking like a handbag or bra. It's a failure on every level at functionality. And i don't know what apple was thinking. It makes the airpods max easy to recognize at a distance. Maybe that was the main goal but in terms of doing case things. It's a joke that offers virtually no protection for your five hundred and fifty dollar headphones. I wouldn't feel good about throwing this into a packed bag. The earcups could get scratched since there are so many slits in the case and something could poke through that exposed mesh canopy and the case also picks up dirt and smudges in no time. This is bad enough. Misfire that it drags down the entire product. Everyone else gets this right and it's baffling. That apple could get it so wrong. I'd expect to see many third-party cases for the airpods. Max very soon and i predict apple will sell some of those directly because this thing is just untenable another downside. No three point five millimeter. Jack the airpods. Max only have a lightning connector. So if you want higher-quality wired audio or to plug them in on a plane you've got to get a thirty five dollar cable. No putting an oxford between two iphone. Headphone dangles won't work. Ouch i can live without the three point. Five millimeter jack but to not include the cable in the box at this price rude also. It's worth mentioning that there's no passive mode for the airpods max. When they're out of juice they stop working altogether. Even if you're wired you can't use the very good clear sounding voice. Mike's on the headphones plugged in either. But the cable is good for eliminating all latency. If you want to use the airpods max. For recording or monitoring purposes and quote then to his wrap-up quote these headphones might end up a hit lately. The earbuds they share a name with but they could also just coast by the same vein as something like the homepods. Another apple product that was priced higher than the competition when released and hurt by it. If you're the kind of person that knows you'll love the airpods max. You shouldn't hesitate to go for it. They sound killer for music and movies alike and they feel like they should cost even more money. They're about as luxurious as noise. Cancelling headphones get but not as expensive as they come. But there's still no world. I would recommend the airpods max to your average headphone shopper. Especially when the airpods pro offer a lot of the same features for less many consumers will be perfectly happy. Sticking with the tried and true options from sony bows microsoft and elsewhere at the very least. It's probably worth waiting for apple music. Hd or spatial audio on the apple tv. Or for god's sake a better case and quote
Here's a first look at Apple's $549 AirPods Max headphones
"I wanna talk to you about the airpods max. There was many rumors this fall that these were coming and being mid december. It looked like maybe we're not gonna get it before. Two thousand twenty one but no early on tuesday morning apple announced and released the airpods max. They went up for sale. I think it was like eight thirty in the morning and to everyone's shock and awe and let's just talk about now five hundred and fifty dollar price tag for the airpods. Max i would love to have your initial thoughts not only on the price tag but on the name. Because i kind of wish. They went with studio because the rumored codename airpods studio because they're over the your headphones with the cups. Noise cancelling airpods max. I don't know it sounds a little funny. What do you think william. I did as she laughed when i saw the name but only because apple keeps used to keep everything secret and now everything seems to come out but they hit us with a new name. We weren't expecting and that did the same with the apple a. m water. It is like there's a naming department that can keep a secret. I agree studios san sense better so these headphones they're very expensive. They're five hundred and fifty dollars despite that they're basically sold out until march if you try to buy a pair now it'll say twelve to fourteen weeks shipping time so even despite the price very popular you can actually go and watch him hd. And i just actually have these. They did initial videos unboxing and some initial thoughts. I'll put those links in show notes as well just kind of a quick specs. These are over the ear cups headphones controls on these. It is all physical controls. There's a large digital crown on one of the earcups that you'll use to adjust volume or you can press it down for siri. And then there's also another button to go from transparency to noise cancelling mode so they have a lot of the features of the airpods pro. They have spatial audio. They can do dolby. Atmos and seven point. One surround virtually in the headphones. So that's all very cool but a couple of the noticeable omissions will say no power brick in the box so with your five hundred and fifty dollar headphones. You do not get a powerbook to charge you. Do get a cable. You get a usb c a lightening cable so you can charge it with one of the twenty usb c charging that apple will sell you but it also does not come with the cable to physically connect these headphones to an audio source. If you would like that you have to pay an additional thirty five dollars for a lightning. Two three and a half millimeter cable to plug into an audio source and again the fact that they went with lightning on instead of usb bbc. I'm not sure i feel about that. But those are the omissions and again on that price tag at least put the cable in there. I don't know that's just me. What do you feel wind. Packwood's and i agree with you. That seems wrong. I know we got loose. Packers have old ones. So i don't know how much use they would be i. It never occurred to me to think about a physical connection with this their wireless headphones release anything else. But actually yeah. If i am a musician pro use a full who. This is a bargain but a worthwhile cost. I'm likely to want to better connection wireless bluetooth so yeah on quite taken aback. Especially if you cross into that audio file realm and one of things. I'm going to do with it I did order a pair though becoming tuesday. So i'll be able to talk about him on next week's episode personally but i'm actually a classical music fan. I don't think i've ever share this with amish on the podcast. But i'm a classical trumpet player. That's my wife degree. yes i love. Actually listening to classical music. Believe it or not and so. I'm very curious to see how these sound. On some of those mozart requiems and brahms symphonies at to see the audio quality is really up to snuff. But for five hundred fifty dollars should sound amazing. You know per se. Obviously this is in comparison and in competition with headphones. Like the sony w.h. Xm fors which usually cost like three hundred. Three hundred and fifty dollars was like attuned dollar premium for these and the bose noise cancelling headphones seven hundred are very popular. Those are around three hundred and forty dollars. So you're getting two hundred to two hundred and fifty dollar premium to pay for these airpods. Max so i really hope have to imagine that the sound quality is excellent. But you're also paying for apple's features like the h. One chips the ability to the noise. Cancelling connect your devices seamlessly switch just like other airpods and airpods pro another cool feature to the cups. The ear cushions that are on the headphones are actually connect magnetically. And so if you want to replace the earcups for whatever reason they come off very easily and attach very easily as well and hd shows that had his video looks pretty satisfying and you can also get replacement ear cushions again. Not cheap but seventy bucks on apple you can actually order them now in the apple store and on their website but you can get replacement cushions for seventy dollars again in the future if you need them and you can mix and match colors. There's actually a cool chart you know if you will have to get the space gray headphones and put some blue cushions on it. You can be fancy like that if you'd like but again you're paying a premium for all these. I don't know. I'm curious to try them. But these don't tempt you at all as i once used the bose actions that you mentioned don. I was very impressed on. I do like us. I'm more of a malla guide. The mets on no. It doesn't tempt me. Except there is one thing this one specification you've just kind of lewd to skipped a very good. That is crucial. What color did you buy on. I won't with space gray because the size of these. I mean they're large. They're over the ear headphones. And i like to be discreet when i'm around other people the rare times that happens and so white white was tempting. But i don't have so much you know every other airpod is white and i didn't like the green or the pinkish red color. Blue was the only other one that tempted me. But i don't know. I just went discreet. I want black now. You wouldn't touch. That's what it is so next day. Jiang at a party somewhere. Nobody's gonna notice because she didn't have blue headphones. That's what i would have gone full blitz. Obviously the blue did look very nice. i was tempted. Also attempt to engrave these. I've actually never engraved an apple product. I don't know why i just have never done. It and i was very close to engraving these. But i had a moment of. I don't know what to put on them. And i know shipping. Times are gonna slip. So i just four went the engraving and just sorta without. But i'm curious william. Have you ever engraved an apple product. No because of always thoughts. And i'm gonna pass it on somebody else or might resell it to somewhere right. So it's been like having a set to somebody on their name. Just you break up with something. It feels wrong in a weird way. It feels like it's studies the the pristine finish of the device as well especially if you wanna resell it. That definitely makes it more difficult but I know you have tons of tattoos. You have sleeves don't you. Have you have tattoos all over please. I'm not illustrated unless you know what you said about coming up with something to say. I know whatever. I had written on me. I would change my mind magic instantly and want to me. I did work with a young writer. Who said she was aiming to have some text for every significant part of her life tattooed on and i wished to long life and much fatness so that you have room okay. Well staying on the grieving for a second. I saw that in addition to letters you can actually engrave emojis on apple products. Now you can choose emojis if you'd like. So here's my question to you william. If you could engrave any emoji apple device what emoji do you think you would choose. Would it be the winking smiley face sticking out the tongue or would it be money flying away. What do you think is the money involved here with page to do this. I give you twenty bucks. Yeah i need more need more. I need a lot more needs to pay for the hedge funds and then i feel that's nice cost parlance I'm i'm a writer. I can't bear emojis next. Particularly i had a message from a singer songwriter. I profoundly admire but it was all in emojis. And i have no idea what she was saying. It was just. I think it's gonna start communicating with you william. I'm gonna do all emojis from now on well good by sending emerges did not sending me pat. That's where you're going wrong. You sending the wrong listen. Listen we'll see when that when the next ipad comes out the battery life on my ipad. I don't know what's going on but it is I don't know. It's a little rough. When i edit podcast. It's great at any at any other time. So that new model comes out. I don't know we'll see you keep playing this long game gas lighting me. I'll just send it off without even thinking about it.

"Cutting the cord used to be a great way to cable TV and save lots and lots of money. Then the big companies jumped in and muck it up. In two, thousand, seventeen youtube came in with a sweet offer most of your favorite cable TV channels, no equipment rental contracts it just thirty five dollars monthly since pretty great right? Well, that didn't last long in two, twenty, twenty, the platform raised its rates to sixty five dollars monthly. So this week when t mobile said it too had a cutting the cord package for ten dollars a month while I was all ears. The plus if you like channels like AMC HALLMARK MTV Nickelodeon, you'll love T. mobile's vibe offering because that's all it costs one Alexander Hamilton. Energy Plan Launched by Tesla in the UK, Short Shorts Update
"Everybody Rob our here and today we are primarily talking about Tesla Energy Tesla has officially launched its energy service in the United Kingdom, and with that they've shared a lot of interesting details on their plans in that market. We then also have an update on delivery for Tesla's latest product or add. So starting off with Tessa Energy, tussle today, updated their website in the UK you can actually access this from I believe any country as long as you just go to the drop down and ginger location. So in the UK on Tesla's homepage there now, featuring a new product quote, the Tesla Energy plan designed for homes with solar and Power Wall. And Quote Tesla also has a nice little two minute video. They're sort of running through the entire process end to end. But basically what this energy plan does is utilized tussle power walls to create a virtual power plant in which Tesla will utilize their audit or software to manage energy storage levels in different distributed energy storage products such as the power wall. This adds value in a number of different ways, but I think the simplest way to understand it is to think of it as somewhat balancing the grid out Tesla can purchase energy when it's really cheap store it in the distributed network of power walls and then resell it when energy prices. Are High that's all managed in real time automatically by auditor software that helps balance out the grid and then tested profit from the differences in though selling prices. This is, of course, in addition to the normal benefits of having a power wall, which would be to store your renewable energy so that you can use that energy when your power production is not that high, and then of course, having backup energy in case of power outage, what that virtual power plant functionality enables is for tussle to partner with an energy retailer in this case, octopus energy in the UK to provide tuskers that have a power wall with a much cheaper energy plan. Than, they could get anywhere else tussle on the website says it can be up to seventy five percent cheaper for energy than any other available rate. So we're going to go into the details on that but I there are a couple of unique things we have to understand about the UK energy market, the first of which being the terminology. So in the UK essentially, each energy plan is known as a tariff I think generally, we think of tariff as being attacks, and here for the UK energy market, it does involve pricing, but it's broader than that. Basically, an energy tariff here is equivalent to saying an energy plan. So the tariff involves pricing. It involves whether you're power costs are fixed or variable your provider, the energy source that you're using whether that's renewable, -able or something else all of those details fit under what would be described as your energy tariff. So if we focus in on pricing, there are a couple of different charges. The first is what's known as a standing charge that is a daily fee they are paying basically for actively and UK power dot co dot UK says that the average staining charge for electricity in the UK is twenty point, five, eight pence per day twenty, point five pence is equivalent to twenty seven US sense. So that doesn't sound like a lot. But over the course of the year, that adds up to one hundred dollars on average. So that's the standing charge and there is a unit rate. So you're paying per kilowatt hour. Think we're operating used to that and on average that is fourteen point four pence per kilowatt hour sources vary on this, but it looks like the average home in the UK uses about four thousand kilowatt hours per year, which would lead to you `electricity costs five, hundred, seventy, six pounds per year. That's about seven hundred, fifty US dollars. So all in standing charge plus the actual payment for the electricity you're at about eight, hundred, fifty dollars per year and probably higher. If you have to charge electric vehicle. So with that context, let's look back at tussles energy plan and affect you. It says, what are the tariff details? Tesla says quote no standing charge on your bill, a twenty four, seven import rates of eight pence per kilowatt hour for current Tesla vehicle owners and eleven pence per kilowatt hour for non Tesla vehicle owners the lowest flat rate tariff available on the market as of October twenty twenty. So at eight pence per kilowatt hour and no standing charge over the course of the year at four thousand kilowatt hours you're looking at three hundred, twenty pounds or about four, hundred seventeen, which will, of course round. Up to four, hundred, twenty US dollars. So under that example, you're saving more than fifty percent more than four hundred dollars per year or about thirty five dollars a month remember though that's for the average around four thousand kilowatt hours. If you have an electric vehicle charging that, let's say that's double eight thousand kilowatt hours that should get you ten thousand fifteen thousand miles per year from your electric vehicle. Then your annual electricity costs go up to a little over twelve hundred pounds or about sixteen hundred US dollars under Tesla's energy plan that same amount of energy would cost about six hundred and forty pounds or about eight, hundred and thirty, five. US. Saving about seven hundred and sixty five dollars per year or sixty, five dollars per month so that all sounds great. The energy on this plan is all renewable but where the rub comes in as you have to actually by the power wall and in the UK that cost eight thousand pounds, that's a bit over ten thousand dollars. So if you're saving sixty five dollars per month while the payback period on that is about thirteen years. So on the surface, this looks pretty attractive and if you happen to already have power while. In the UK it seems like a no brainer. But unless I'm missing something on the math here, this is a complicated subject to me. It's not clear that this is something that everyone is immediately going to be scrambling to adopt where things get a little bit trickier to understand her on the math on is when we switched over from purchasing electricity actually selling electricity. So in the UK, there are a couple tariffs on that. There's a generation tariff and an export tariff.

Is launching a new service for prime members free one hour grocery pickup at all whole foods stores in the United States to qualify orders have to total at least thirty, five dollars before today's announcement prime members could only pick up grocery orders at select stores. Big Questions about this guys I don't know if you've tried this service the whole food service through them. At the biggest problem I've seen it's a little bit of a rare misstep rams on but the biggest problem. I've seen is that they don't have a very good idea of the inventory in any of those stores. So you can order something online they may not have it in the stores and they substitute some pretty crazy things

If you're a Gamer forget it, you'RE GONNA lose in gaming competitions, but for every day. Internet kind of activities Web, surfing, email, video stuff like that music you'll be fine. And Verizon is offering it. It forty dollars a month if use verizon for your cell phone, if you don't it sixty dollars a month. which is much cheaper. Than what people have been used to for any kind of Home Internet. Now there's a second one that. and. By the way, this is available in at least parts of forty eight states. Heavily concentrated again in rural areas, what you want to look for. Is Very. Wordy name but it's VERIZON VERIZON WIRELESS DOT COM. It's Verizon Lt e Home Internet. WASP Documentarian Erin Miller
"I'm talking today to Aaron Miller. Now, Erin is not a pilot, but she is the granddaughter of a wasp that's women's airforce service pilots, and she has a fascinating story to tell. So Aaron, thank you so much for being with us today. Thank you for having me your welcome so What I'd like is for you to to share with us what what your grandmother has shared with you about her flying story, and then we'll get to your story of how you how you made things right for your grandmother. But can you tell us how she got her starting aviation? So. My Grandmother. Elaine. Dan. For harmon was born in Baltimore Maryland in Nineteen nineteen and she grew up in the city and was born at home in her house. And had two siblings and was very independent. sporty did a lot of rotor bike and very athletic growing up and she attended the University of Maryland in College Park. Maryland for college. and. She did lots of activities there as well. She was a cheerleader she was on the rifle team swim team. She was in a sorority in all kinds of things very active and her senior year of college. She saw an advertisement in the school newspaper for the civilian. Pilot Training. program. Which I'm sure your listeners are familiar with but it was a program in the nineteen thirties to have more people in the United States prepare to get a pilot's license and Senate was I guess subsidized by the US government and it was offered through a lot of universities and university. Of Maryland was one of them. And Anyway. So they had an advertisement for this program where you could learn how to fly and it costs thirty five dollars. Or forty dollars and you got thirty five hours of flight training and ground school and whatever. So my grandma thought that would be cool. So she applied and at the time which doesn't sound like a big deal you're signing up for a class nowadays. But back, then if you were a woman, they only accepted one woman for every ten men in the class. So you kind of had to I don't I never asked her if there were comp competition about this or she just happened to be the only woman that applied I don't really know but anyway. So, she asked her dad for the money and she also had to get a permission slip signed because she was female and under the age of twenty one and not married. So her dad had to sign a permission slip and that's how she initially took pilot training lessons West, through this program at the University of Maryland. Very. Cool. So after she got her thirty five hours, did she continue to fly on her own? Not Really she I think she did a little bit but she basically that was in nineteen, hundred forty, sue her last year of college. She got her pilot's license and then not too long after that, she got married in the summer of nineteen forty one. To my grandfather, and then as your listeners I'm sure. Well, aware six months later Pearl Harbor happened. So I don't think you flying around was generally something that happened. A Lot. So at that point, my grandmother and grandfather were moving around a lot to support the war effort they lived in Ohio at one point for a while and we're kind of working at different places. And and so how did she get back into? So in nineteen, forty, three, I believe there was an big. The Women Airforce Service pilots kind of became newsworthy and there was a little bit of news about them. Newsreel. The old newsreels are in life magazine, and so my grandmother heard about this program called the WAAS. And thought she could apply and she asked my grandfather. If he thought it would be a good idea and he thought it would be a great idea for her. So she applied and she kind of didn't really think she would get in because she really the most she had done was that civilian pilot training program she didn't have a lot of hours. And she kind of applied and thought oh well, we'll see what happens but they accepted her. So that's how she ended up becoming one of the Watson. Then she started training in April of Nineteen, forty four where did she go for Carini? She was in sweetwater Texas Avenger field, which is in western Texas. About an hour west of Abilene Texas. Now. Did your grandfather go there with her when she went there No. So my grandfather was an engineer and he later became a patent attorney, but he was not in the service because he had a physical defect so he was So, he couldn't serve in the army. But he was I think recruited I would say by a company to actually manufactured airplane parts called Jack and Heintz which some people may not because I've seen their parts in the in the warbirds He got sent to Asia to work on a plan to repair aircraft for the US military in theater in the Pacific. So the planes didn't have to be sent back to the continental United States to be repaired to save time. So he got sent over there to work on that program as a civilian, and so he was gone during this time when she was trainy. tweet water. Aircraft was she trained in? So she was trained on I think they were all trained on basic plane. So things like the the steersman PT, seventeen, eighteen, nineteen, eighty, sixes, bt, Thirteen's neither all planes that she was training on. And what did she eventually flawed she I assume she was multi current and flew a lot of different airplanes as wasp. Yes. So all the WAAS flu lots of different planes and there were groups of wasps that were trained to fly every plane that was produced during World War Two from little trainer planes all the way up to be twenty nine bomber. So not every wasp was trained to fly every plane obviously but they're little groups trained to fly like you know pursuit crafter bombers or whatever. So. She was trained to fly bt thirteen's to train men in instrument training. So that was her job after she graduated. So she was transferred to Nellis Air. Base. In Las Vegas. And with her best friend from the WAAS Maggie Gee and Magnesia was to- target pilot in Las Vegas. So they were transferred there and my grandma trained men on instrument training in the thirteen. And she was also has some time as a co-pilot on the B seventeen.
How Walmart Plus is taking on Amazon Prime
"Ben you the chance to talk with Walmart's chief customer officer about Walmart plus. What did you learn So what's interesting is I guess it's not terribly surprising is that Walmart is really trying to position Walmart plus. Something, for Walmart customers as opposed to, Hey, this is our our Amazon prime killer or what have you. So they're looking at it as like additive to people that are already getting groceries from Walmart or already shopping online from Walmart, and you know certainly curious to see if there's a market for people to spend a hundred dollars on yet another subscription service. Yeah. You bring up a good point because walpole walmart's customers tend to shop at Walmart to save money to get bargains. and. These customers to spent another hundred dollars a year is that you think that's an argument that that really works I. Maybe. I mean like, Walmart track record for subscription services is not great They've already attempted a few in the haven't lasted so. They are certainly making a big push with Walmart plus by There's a long way to go there. I would probably say the this is Walmart's argument for getting a Walmart plus subscription is that if you regularly get groceries delivered than this is a smart way to like just basically bulk your your. Delivery costs but at the same time, you know the perks are currently kind of meager for one hundred dollars a month just just for context. Could you run down some of the yes? Oh, it's it's three things. One of them is You know. As soon as same-day delivery, four orders, thirty five dollars or more that includes like general merchandise and groceries. And the reason they're able to get it to you as soon as same day is because a lot of those shipments coming from your local supercenter. So that's Walmart really taking advantage of the fact that they have centers that are located around major population centers and. Suburban communities, rural communities all over the place. So Hey, why don't we just convert these into a distribution centers in that way, we can compete much more effectively on commerce that's the biggest piece the other two. Nice. There's a fuel discount and then there's also this like scan go feature. In. The Walmart I think it's in the Walmart APP where you scan stop who've your in store and you can avoid the checkout line that way you just like scannon pay for it and You know. That's that's a nice to have. That's a nice feature obviously, especially during coronavirus bud is you get people to pay all that extra money for for scandal now so they're gonNa have to do more and they said just as much in the interview that I had with them. You know. So this is this is the starting. Gamble here and they're going to build from there. Ryan. Clearly, this is early days for Walmart plus you get a chance to talk to this executive about for the the origins and how they came up with like what did you learn? The ask so they they were seeing a lot of success with their pickup service I. IT appeared to me that they were getting some good traction on their grocery delivery service. So they're like look let's double down on this Let's see. Let's see if we can make this work to to really build this out But yeah again, like certain things that they didn't do are black stuff like prime video which like is so big and influential now that they win like Emmy Awards. So it's not just like some random catalog off crappy movies like they. They make a lot of their own original content and the reason I bring that up is that you know is Walmart going do something like that or they gonNA create their own studio are they gonNA create their own music streaming service that they're going to bundle in there. Obviously, they could go in a lot of directions here by the I'd Stein it's still not there yet obviously, they're still just starting. Yeah. Targeting it's it's. Really Walmart customers e think there'll be a point where they reach out to abroad audience really trying to go after those those Amazon prime customers. Yeah. Probably like you have to remember the Walmart is the world's biggest retailer the world's like have. You know one point, five, million US employees and Walmart customers in effect means like a ton of people. So traditionally, they have been known to. Support and serve a lower income population and. Laudable obviously people it. You know. Everybody deserves to get good deals by also Walmart customer. So I think that their hope is probably similar to Costco I would imagine that people would subscribe to prime and they would also subscribe to this perhaps that there are enough benefits. So it's not an either or type of situation. The problem is, is that a hundred dollars a month in addition to all the other subscriptions most people are paying? Is he going to be successful? That's obviously the big question here
Accumulation Time For Bitcoin
"We'll help you find a good a good start to your day. Look end of the month remains, we can have a look at the monthly charges and how chats about how I look. We have some good moves in the market of the non also he's thirty those in just. One Mind Bitcoin let me talk to the monthly. Well, let's just get there. That guy. South. Looks pretty good. Yeah. It does it in the month of September. We were down seven point, five, four percent. We actually went into that cried design and closed above that ten thousand mocks will very well ten thousand, five hundred was kind of a a pretty significant level they're. On many of the shots and the right now? We're above it and the monthly does look pretty strong. We don't have that wonderful uptrend. That I would like to say, but I'll tell you what it. It looks a heck of a lot better than I did a couple of months back. So Moose sitting pretty I'm not too dissatisfied. With where we are and yet as much as we close Dan we closed at ten thousand, seven, hundred, seventy nights a monthly close above ten thousand. Once again third in a row. Arthur. Lost three months salary talk about July. August and September have all closed above ten thousand, which is very, very quickly Dana. Yesterday's Margaret didn't do too much. It hung within the Ryan of die before would point five, six percent closing at ten thousand, seven, hundred, Seventy, eight wrought now well, just dive in. So we are very flat not much in the wild but unity, they're on Bitcoin from my point of view. But as we can sold I didn't here does pretty nice period of. Accumulation. Way Bitcoin sits in those Ryan remember the Greis scalise buying like mad they own something like three percent or something like that at the bitcoin supply. It allows them to allow people to get involved, become more bitcoin to become most kissed their full. When we do have some reason for it to move higher, it should move high at five last longer it takes to build it up the better. We should say a move come out of it depending. How the growth as with this market is so still so smaller like I was touching on yesterday the immaturity of these market. Is Real you know it really real it so we haven't got. Haven't got the big plays in just yet. We haven't got all the other investment taught Pagel. Long White guy still very large market caps for us at the moment. So bitcoin Golota dirty. Let's see how we gonNA. Theory of declaws yesterday are very flat. The died will literally fly. Threatened fifty nine dollars a night sense. I would like to see US move high there on a theory of detroi-, pull back a little bit but still three fifty non pretty much flat on the diagnose very lackluster performance on a theory lot except pay look at did the same sort of thing. There was not much that actually did it did closed down it was down point five of a percent closing at twenty four point one cents we have building building building much motorcycle that Bitcoin cash also I down point four saint closing at two, hundred, twenty dollars. Not a great deal of interest from me on the old bitcoin cash contract eighty still very saad, wise needs to push up. To get each Y. above to thirty five dollars if it can get about two, thirty, five, then we. got a much better opportunity that trend will bay and things will start to look a heck of a lot of bad up on to like a it was up yesterday I believe it or not yet it was up one point one, eight percent it's been a while. But did close up the security and the trend still not where I needed bay to have exactly what I want but. Off Forty six dollars and twenty five cents base via. Also Moving Pretty Wild Ryan jumping down you bet craig having another Thais starting out obey something or other I can't remember exactly what it is but. Wasn't positive. After moving heart move lower ended up closing down one point one off I percents are very, very, very little movement on the clothes yesterday one, seventy to sixty two with countless sitting Donna yesterday closing with a very believable candle out point two percent it's above ten scientists up one point two full percent already died, which is a pretty good start for. The mock we'll see how the guy throughout the Motte communities tried the. Bonnet. Yesterday's well at one point four percent ticking along doing wanna dozen doing it well. It's been pretty quiet on Bonnets as far as tried go. It's had some nice little movements and that trendy, certainly, there were upper twenty on Dole's flat on the nose on keeping off pullbacks tonight.
What were expecting in the PS5 showcase
"So Sony Holding this PS five showcase on Wednesday a week after Microsoft held its own xbox event. So Oscar, what are you expecting? Are we finally going to get a price that is de definite? Expectation with this show, there is obviously the big questions. When's it coming out and the price? So yeah. Those are the two. Obviously there's GonNa be some info about the launch games but yes, with this presentation, this is going reveal all it's gonna lay everything down and skin say here's what it is and get ready. So what are you expecting pricewise? Right now, the expectation is the. to a, there's a digital version of the PS five with no OPCO drive and the sort of standard version with the optical drives so. For the standard version, which should have all the bills whistle. So to speak that were pretty much were all expecting a five hundred dollar price points for the digital version were looking more like four hundred the really the only difference between the two the optical drives so far that we know unless soda comes out and make some other changes. But consider there's not much difference. We don't expect with go below the three ninety, nine 'cause w really big cut. into the into some profits, got it, and so let's let's stack this up against Microsoft which announced its own pricing last week. What are the xbox series X. and series s cost? Well, that was a big surprise last week it was a it was leaked initially than my Marquesa finally confirmed that yes, there is GonNa be to xboxes the S previously codename De la Carte is to ninety nine. That was the big reveal edit is a very big reveal. The KONTOS haven't been to ninety nine in quite a few generations and for Gen Gaming. It's Really a low price and every the ideal the strategy behind it is what we're thinking. Yourself said, Hey, not going to undercut us again like they did with the playstation forward. So we're just GONNA go right in with this three hundred dollar council. It's going to have next Gen graphics but does have an optical drive. has half the hard drive space and a can't perform get render as good. A graphics as the standard version would just five hundred dollars. So that is what? Microsoft with the big enough to saying, Hey, we got you covered if you need save money or if you want all the bells and whistles, you go for the five hundred dollars and they're both coming out November. Right and that that money equation I mean it's more important ever right now, right we were in the middle pandemic when the middle of a recession with millions of people are jobs money is tight. All around is a lot of uncertainty. So I get I appreciate that Microsoft would factor that into the equation with the pricing that said You know there, there are some drawbacks of the series s I'm curious with with some of those pricing in place and I know we don't yet have Sony yet confirmed but. The equation for you on which console you should buy or if you should buy any of these consoles this holiday season. It always comes down to the Games. That's really what is important. But What's interesting is Marcus Like I said in the previous previous podcast. They are shooting to be this all encompassing services service package so They want to the big. You're GONNA push when starts September twenty seconds. So the big thing they're gonNA push is this xbox all access, which is for the s twenty, five dollars a month you get the ultimate game pass. which includes Xbox live in game pass and the you get that and the series s for twenty five dollars a month for two years, which is a pretty crazy deal because. The Game Password. That launches. Officially. A It's it's tech lean. Beta will let me it's kind of the. kind of kind of fish lead launched not really kinda sort of we up doing it but with game pastors but hundred hundred, fifty games. So right at the box, if you do this process with the Xbox L. Access, you're GONNA get the game you're going to get you're GonNa get all these Games get the console twenty five dollars a month. And that's it. So and then if you WANNA go to step up that's that's thirty five dollars a month. So it's not a big deal.
Microsoft takes aim at Sony with cloud gaming service
"Microsoft Encarta that it will release xbox series s consul with a starting price of two, hundred, ninety, nine dollars. The company tweeted that will more details on the device soon, Lee commercials for the series as claimed, the console will offer one hundred twenty frames per second gaming up to fourteen forty P resolution and come with five hundred gigabytes of storage customers can opt to buy the console through the xbox all access plan that also includes Xbox game pass ultimate on that plan. The series s cost twenty, five dollars a month over twenty four months and the series x costs thirty five dollars a month over that same period both councils will launch a November tenth.
Mint Mobile launches cheap unlimited cell plan
"You know. So many of us per stretched and we're trying to make our budgets last through the month at a time that for many people incomes are down. So one area I'd like you to look at is how to attack your monthly expenses and one that a lot of just pay because that's what we pay is what we pay for cell phone service. So I want to give you a couple of choices on cell phone service that comes with unlimited data from two different companies one geared towards an individual paying for his or her own bill. In the second for people that are joining together with others. On a plan to save money. Let's start with the one for individuals. There's a company that runs really cute TV ads called met mobile. There was. So as a reseller, they bake pass the from the big three cell phone players, and then they sell their own branded service under the meant mobile name. Meant. Mobile is doing a deal right now on unlimited data plan where you've got unlimited talk text and data for a flat thirty dollars a month. But there's some hoops you have to jump through. So let's say you WanNa do this thirty dollars a month plan you could be on one that's significantly higher with others if you're doing unlimited data. What you do is you pay meant mobile for the first three months when you port your number and so you give them ninety bucks and it covers your cell phone service for the next three months. You hit the end of those three months. If you're happy with mobile, you can then by the next year from them at the thirty dollars a month. So, Ye end up having to give them three hundred sixty bucks. But then you know you have no cell phone bill for the whole next year is for the quality of the network with mobile. I never get complaints about that. Now that I've said that Oh hear from people who have complaints, but it is an alternative that can give you freedom from worrying about data overages. or data caps and no you're paying a flat thirty bucks. The other alternative is from verizon discount on a lot of people don't know verizon has a discount operator and people known for years. that. T mobile has metro. And Cricket is at and T.'s discounter but horizon acts like visible doesn't exist. But visible does exist is verizon's discounter and they have a plan called party pay. It's designed for two people together three people together or four people together. On a cell phone plan, but with a twist. If you just get a buddy or a relative or whatever to join you on visibles party Pay Plan Each of you were billed individually. So one person doesn't have to pay the whole bill and then chased the other people to pay them their portion of the bill each month. All they got to do is stay with visible together on their party. Pay Plan. So, two people get unlimited talk unlimited taxed unlimited data for thirty five dollars a month each three people, thirty dollars a month each and you got four people together twenty five dollars a month each. Again this is RISA NHS discount honor. You won't see it on Verizon's website. If you went to a verizon store, they wouldn't know what you were talking about. If you call verizon customer no service, they wouldn't know what it was. You have to go to the website visible dot com. And then you're in the money in the savings on for is network on a variety plan, but from their discount brand called visible.

"Nine. Back with Steve Holland discussing the mysteries behind the fees commissions or other cost that you incur when you're working with financial professionals, Steve when it comes to compensation, why is there any mystery about how different advisors charge us Meghan before? I get into all of that. I've got to tell you this story. Now, I I believe we told the story a couple of years ago on the radio, and I got a lot of E mail from it because people couldn't believe it. But I'm telling you this stuff happens all the time. Now, this is a real story. This is about twelve fourteen years ago, I'm going to change the client's name, of course to protect their privacy. Let's call her Mabel, this is a client of mine who's been a client for a long time. She came to me from a big brokerage house. She had four variable annuities and she had about two hundred and fifty thousand dollars in each one of these variable annuities and these annuities were so old. They still had regardless of the investment amount. They still had a thirty five dollar annual fee attached to them. So every single year Mabel saw on her statements, a thirty five dollar fee subtracted from her portfolio balance. All right. So if this wasn't problematic enough, Megan she happened to have a broker who was kinda kind of like, a Gordon gecko, you know, from Wall Street that old movie that came out in the I think it was the early. Ninety s you know, he had big big suspenders a big fancy two hundred dollar tie had his hair slicked back and treated the client like they knew absolutely nothing. Now, my client said, you know, dealing with this this broker he was tough. Every question. I asked him he made me feel like I was wasting his time. And he made me feel like every question. I had was a dumb question. And that's just really terrible. She said, Steve he was quite arrogant. I really didn't enjoy the relationship with him. I'm so glad that I transferred my account over to you. But let me tell you exactly what happened in. This is what gets me so flipping angry about our industry, and how some brokers some advisors out there try to hide stuff. So she had these four variable annuities again two hundred and fifty thousand dollars on average in in each one of them. She went to her broker, and she said, you know, I'm hearing about imp-. Blissett hidden fees in explicit fees. I I hear different radio shows talking about this. So I would like to find out more about my fees. I've noticed I have four thirty five dollar fees each year on my annuities are these the only fees? I mean, these are the only fees that that I see are these the only fees and the broker actually said Meghan. Well, do you see any other fees, and she said, well, no, I don't that's that's what I'm telling you. I don't see any other fees and the broker actually said, well, didn't you just answer your own question? In other words, obviously, these are the only fees that you have which was an absolutely crime to hear that. That was I can't even use the correct words I get so angry when I think about this. Are you going to retire soon? Are you already retired or? Or are you in a situation where you're not ready to retire? But you're ready to get ready to retire. "That's thirty five dollars a day. Wow. Okay. There's a better way to do it. Okay. If you're seventy five you might live another twenty five years. My folks are eighty going on fifty you need guaranteed income a private pension. If you don't have a corporate one and a rising income to combat the inflation. That's on the way. So here is the most optimal way to give. You a rising income with past performance being no guarantee of future returns to combat the inflation. That's on the way, look again at page seven of my article, the four asset portfolio for growth and income in retirement notice where it says for asset portfolio for growth and income. This is your maybe bucket, but it's the highest probability that we can find of money in the market that will last thirty five years with a rising income based on the research for a sixty five year old that's been at four percent off this mix. They came up. With a ninety eight point two percent probability. You did not run out of money with a three percent increase every year to combat inflation you need to add that to your forever bucket. But if you do that, plus your social security odds are very very low you're ever going to run out of money. Okay. Again, get a hold the articles if you're over fifty with five hundred thousand dollars or.
