Apple Launches $99 HomePod Mini Speaker

"Ninety, nine dollars for the home pop mini. So humbled is much smaller homepage just a little ORB finally, enough very similar to the new design of the Amazon Echo, which is also circular. I love when this stuff happens you know like thus cylinders now the will balls and that's where we we're at this point we're candles. One of those candles you light to like drive mosquitos away or something exactly or like a little coca looks a little coconut. Coconut mini. I think that it is clear at this point that price point when we all draft pick was under two hundred because we thought maybe one, nine nine why was? Ninety nine as the price that's I was surprised now as a had some people out to me. Is Forty nine dollars. So I like apple still offering this at a premium price, but for apple and the P- the home pod. They they've come a long way is what I'm saying go to ninety nine dollars. Connected Home Product is pretty pretty big for them. Look he's Prime Day today you can get an echo dot for thirty dollars right Lakefront but this is today by the way. I'm day one and everyone out there listening happy Prime Day. But I think the point here that we're making is they are selling this product at a much better price point than we would expect half of what you'd expect, which does mean that they're at least attempting to be competitive in the way that apple does this wasn't the homeport. The original home pod was always significantly overpriced right compared to what it was going up against and I think it could be fed to say that you know th and also the echo dots you can get for like twenty dollars old ones. And Amazon have new ones coming. And yes, they will be cheaper than the homepage but again, this is apple right? Is this what the home pod should have always been should the original homepod ever should've existed? Yeah I mean, this is I. Think this is one of the questions. This is apple. Learning a lesson like the the existence of this product is apple learning a lesson from what happened with the relative failure of the home pod which I think. We've all known for a while now with kind of over engineered and really overpriced. So they are they seem to have learned a lesson. Which I think is interesting that they've done that. I'm also interested by the way that this is the homepage. and. The homepod appears to continue to exist, and that makes me wonder if perhaps there is still going to be. A home pod. Like. Are they going to take another crack at that of like a higher or is this going to be you know product range whereas in the end going to be the only one that's out there I'm curious what what they are thinking about this and where they go from

Should You Boost Your Ads or Just Use the Ad Manager?

"Or super committed to your success online. We've worked with them to a special offer just remarking school listeners all you have to do is go to dream host dot com slash marking school to learn more and get your website online today. Welcome to another episode of Marketing School I'm Eric Su, and I'm Neil Patel and today we're GonNa talk about if you should be boosting your ads or just using the ad manager but I I think we should define Neil what does boosting ads or the ad manager mean on I'll start with boosting ads. So boosting ads is a button for facebook specifically and other platforms have added a very easy way to promote content. But in the past you'd have to go into ads. Manager Find Your peace maybe you're on their page to find what you want to promote, and they don't take a long time to start promoting it. Now, you can just hit a button. I'll call it easy mode for promoting her stuff and that's boosting odds. But when it comes to using ad manager but I was talking about earlier, you actually have to go into a separate section inside of facebook ads, and then you have to go into the AD managers and if you don't. Know how to use it it can actually be daunting. Let's say your small business owner. There is a little bit of a learning curve there. So to me boosting ads initially super simple to do ads manager is a little more complex question is which one should you be doing and I think I'll started off by saying look if you are a small business owner and you don't have a lot of time to learn things right now and you don't have the resources to. Hire someone full time for this just use boosts and boost around. Let's say I'm a bakery shop owner and I deliver like cakes you. Okay. So I would just boost around my area and then boost coupons things that I can do is try to drive people to be aware of Mike Cakes that you can order on delivery. Neil I would recommend is like Eric mentioned. If you have time, you can get Wimmer Granular ads manager and you get more advanced, which allows you tend. To get a better Roi while I tell people is most people aren't going to have the time their knees boost feature. When you click the boost feature, don't just accept the boost you need to adjust the settings and then go from there. So with the boost feature, you can end up selecting things like your region, your budgets and all these little settings and I would recommend that you go through them before you just click except I think a really smart thing you can. Do I started doing this recently is you know we are pumping out a lot of content like this, for example, and so you know whatever content I tend to like on market to my teams. Hey, let's go ahead and boost this and here's the framework. The framework is let's say we do a video might say, let's put ten dollars a day to it for the next three days. So that ends up being three hundred dollars. You can spend a dollar a day. Okay. So It can be thirty dollars but I spending ten dollars a day on it, and we only boosted to our middle of the funnel pages. So people that are perhaps visiting our case study pages or people that are visiting our services pages or have filled out a consultation for trailing for something, we're trying to get the more doctrinaire in our world. So let's say they don't end up converting but then for the next three days are getting all this content around marketing score leveling up. And for that money spent that actually does drive more leads and we've seen an uptick in Leeds as so oftentimes, you'll hear from people. Oh, I see videos everywhere or I listen to your podcast all the time. Right. You're trying to drive that type of we talk about being everywhere we talk about being on channel. This is an easy way to do it, and so I like boosting in that respect. Now for talking about conversion related things, you'd probably have to go down her. Dude I have barely ever seen conversions from boosting no matter what industry the point Neal's making to, as you should be aiming for reach and you want people to watch your stuff and

Testing Chromecast with Google TV

"We reviewed the Google, the crow cast with Google TV. This name continues to me You got one and you've been using it a few days joe did the review and he said that Google just won the living room. So tell us about what it's like actually plugging it into a TV and using the thing setting it up was pretty simple. You had an option for setting it up in the Google home APP or setting it. Up on device the way most android TV's are setup a setting up through the girl home map actually didn't work for me. So I had to go through it manually and then of course, log into all your APPs manually that's always fun but once you get things set up the Google TV interface for the most part is pretty easy to work your way through. So long as you don't have some as long as you have something. At least general that you're aiming towards if you just turn on your TV and like I have no idea what I wanNA watch it can still overwhelm you a little bit. Talk about that experience so. It's recommending shows from different networks and And services over the top services what do you see when you first log in? That's? From say an Nvidia Shield today. Well, it's recommending stuff from services that I don't subscribe to. So every time that I had turned on my Google TV since I got it on Tuesday, it has popped up with a recommendation for love craft country, which is hilarious since I hate horror but also hilarious because I do not subscribe to Hbo Max and I pushed the APP as far down as I could because I. couldn't completely uninstall it or if I have I haven't found the setting for your. Okay. So it's it's pushing you things that you don't currently have subscriptions to at once to up sell you in some way, but it's also giving you. Recommendations on content from services that you do have like Netflix like Disney plus. Is it a better experience today, and it's early incarnation than Android TV on the you know on a nvidia shield or one of the android TV experiences built into an actual television. For the regular user. I think. It is a better experience for people who are persnickety in particular about their experience. The way that I usually am it's different but I'm not sure if it's necessarily better Thursday Google TV definitely is missing out on that other injury TV's half. Okay. So let's talk about that because this is the. From Roy understand this is the de facto android TV experience going forward in a year or two. Basically, every android TV product will have the Google TV overlay and. There's a couple of questions here. The the question is, why is Google doing this? You know we know the answer it's pushing services that you don't subscribe to can upsell you and grab thirty percent of the cut but. Google also thinks that it's just a better lean back experience and the you know the other thing is that this is Google TV. This is Google's flagship television experience and separate from Android TV as the platform that developers can can build experiences for so. Walk us through what you think. Google's rationale is for building. Explicitly Different Overlay for existing Andrew TV hardware I. Think they wanted to consolidate the experience and have it be something that is easier for them to augment and improve as time goes on because right now for updating the home screens on a Goulty on an Android TV, it'll take months for it to reach most models assuming it comes to most models at all as evidenced by the fact that them injecting adds onto the home screen has not reached the majority of Nydia Shield. TV's because nobody is very protective about what software pushes out to their their set top boxes. But at the same time, I mean. It's a different perspective and I like I like the fact that Google has recognized that Oh. Hey this one feature that we had in the Google play movies and TV APP for four years we can use that on TV to make it easier for everybody to watch what they want to watch. 'CAUSE as long as we've had for several years now google play movies and TV. If you go to a movie listing, you can see whether or not you wanNA watch this in Google play movies on TV or Netflix or who or whatever else it's tied into. And the fact that they've expanded that in turn that into the launcher for injury TV now is useful. Maybe I'm a conspiracy theorist. Then maybe maybe maybe I think everything every company does not just google that's connected and has a user interface is all about analytics. This this included. Look at what Google knows by using this new call it a launch guess. It knows what services you don't have. Is You do. What services you've looked at because you saw content you liked what type of content you like when you look for content to consume. That's all valuable stuff for partners it is but I. don't think it's learning as quickly as you would think, Jerry most because I've spent. Of, the things that I've watched on my in on the android Google TV since I have set it up, the majority had a majority of it has been reebok runs for s few and yet every time I log in the first row recommendations is mostly Disney plus in Netflix. and very little from really well. Well No. Because I've. I've watched maybe one thing on Netflix in the last two weeks in Disney. watched. Two or three different things in the last. Week and a half to three weeks and it didn't recommend either of them. I hear you and also I I guess I should have said. The learning part is secondary. The primary part is data collection that I will agree with. But I'm also somebody who is I'm also somebody who hasn't been clicking on recommendations through Google TV APP I'm still somebody who I prefer to go into the APP itself and pick what I WANNA watch. So that might be why the data collection hasn't quite caught up on me yet. Yeah I mean look there's. Google is learning from the experience of running. Algorithms. Its main approach is main product is Google search. It is run by an algorithm that adapts to you and your browsing history. Youtube is just one huge algorithm recommends content so that you will keep watching this feels like. This is Google doing the same thing in a lean back experience that you. You basically queue up a whole bunch of content and once you're finished something, you may be likely to go with a recommendation based on what you've previously watched and because Google is the only company to have gotten Netflix's through the through that barrier of consolidating all of its content into the four use section apple famously couldn't get Netflix. To agree to terms to be in its TV APP. So if you're sitting in watching your apple TV, you will not get Netflix's recommendations in that APP, and that makes it a pretty bad experience because. I. Don't know about you. But half of the things I watch are on Netflix at least. Yeah. So with Netflix content imbued into the lean back for you experience, I feel like as long as you subscribe to a few different services. Hulu. Netflix. Disney plus you know maybe peacock or Hbo Max you will never run out of things to watch and if you can learn about your watching habits well, enough it will do for. LEAN BACK TV watching for over the top services, what it did with net with Youtube and It's exactly what makes Youtube so addictive I haven't been able to use mine yet because. My Av receivers ancient doesn't ever knew enough hdmi standard and it's encryption thing. It's just me with old junk and I don't have anywhere else to plug it in. But what I've seen of it I think I'm GonNa like the interface. It's you know maybe it needs tweet errors telling us it's not perfect for her and. You know I'm sure it's not look look how bad even the APP store was for a year or two. About finding you content you actually cared about, but I, liked it. It reminds me enough of the net flicks. Experience on a big screen that I really like. That I think all also like it on this. Google. Not The chrome whatever they end up calling it. You know overlay whatever. But maybe not today I I haven't. Got To buy new stuff I hate buying new stuff. You can do that next week if it's only fifty bucks than you know it's it's actually that's the other part of this conversation. Right? This is only fifty dollars it's. Thirty dollars cheaper than the chrome cast ultra when it came out and it does not on the hardware doesn't support fewer standards. It's still a four K. streaming device in fact, I've seen. Evidence. That apps on this look better I mean it's not it's no surprise that Youtube for looks better on the chrome cast with Google TV than it does on the Apple. TV. But it does and it's important that it does because net because in addition to net flicks, youtube is a very popular lean back TV experience right now and Google has the new. I. Think it's The v one Kodak on there. It's just a better quality lower bandwidth experience if you're watching it on chrome cast. Right and the price you hit you hit on their that's important. It's going to cost me more money to buy the cables. I need than it did to buy. The device that would just work if if I had a normal setup. So that that's that's important you know Google has went on the record saying it knows that times are tough for a lot of people in that you know hardware prices, matter and service prices matter and them releasing something that. Is. This best been as well received as this has which tells me that it's good at the Price Day they have it. You know. Anything under fifty bucks is still an impulse buy for most people. Yeah, and this'll be going down to forty dollars for prime day and Black Friday I believe based on some leaked information that we saw it Andrew Police last week. So at forty dollars, this is really just google subsidizing the hardware so that it can get you to subscribe to Youtube TV which we didn't even talk about are like live TV is a big component of this product and it is very prominent on Google TV? In a way that it isn't in the ANDROID TV experience.

Chromecast with Google TV can finally take on Roku and Fire TV Stick 4k

"Veiled the guys last week and got a little lost in the shuffle with the nest audio and Pixel. Five debuts. So what's new what the chrome cast? So the big thing with the crown cast is that it now has a remote and an interface. Those are two long awaited features. You no longer have to rely solely on your phone or tablet or computer to take Netflix's Surg, Youtube and put it onto your TV and I mean, talk a little bit about some of the features on that remote, as well as the interface what what is new about it and is it was it like to us? So I guess we'll break this onto two things we'll start with what's new a google system is very present on the new chrome cast. There's a dedicated assistant button it actually is in a different hue on the remote stands out. It's Pretty active as far as being the interface as well, and you can actually control most of the chrome cats functions with Google system, which is great it really it does a nice job as far as what else is new beyond the interface remote that really covers the bulk of it. There's also Dobie vision and they'll be utmost if you have a compatible TV and sound system. What about that Google TV experience I know it's a revamped version of what they previously called Android TV what's different about it like how and how does it work? So it's kind of new for you page. So the big the big push with. Google TV is a new interface it a new layout that looks more like a Amazon's fire TV. than the old way, which had you basically scrolling through each apps now there's Content in the four as opposed to each APP having it's own separate. Column. Ero-. and. It makes it a lot easier to use it. It's designed to help you find things to watch. As. Opposed to mindlessly scrolling through. Netflix. And then scrolling through prime video or HBO or any of the other many streaming APPs that are available a lot. This seems like upgrade or anything you don't like about this thing. So I had a couple moments where it lacked it wasn't as fast as say Amazon's fire TV, stick four K., which is a similarly. Priced. Streaming dangle. That has Alexis Google Assistant. Random issues where assistant where if I asked to watch them a big marble and so I'd asked to watch avengers infinity war and it would start playing on. Youtube. TV through TBS which has the broadcast rights or the cable rights rather as opposed to recognizing that I subscribed to Disney plus and playing it in four K. on Disney plus subscription. So it just doesn't assistant doesn't always know right now what the best way to watch a particular show movies. It also had a weird issue where unofficial. Weird issue. But you can't actually power this or I wasn't able to power this off of the USB port on my television. I had to use the included seven and a half. Watt Power after which I don't know about you, I like plugging these things directly into the TV running off the USB power it's less cables to see it's easier to to install not having to find an empty outlet. And the fact that this at least with my lg Ola that I was testing into couple years old the old lead, but it's still a fairly recent TV. The fact that wouldn't power and function off of what was provided from the USB port was a bit surprising. Yes. Someone who has his roku plugged into the USB poor of his TV, I can definitely appreciate the need for something like that because it cuts down on the number wires behind your TV. And living in a household with multiple kids you WanNa have as few wires as possible. So that's kind of annoying. Setback. But you know that that that's not the biggest deal you talked about Google assistant and how it's front and center in this Did you find when you were using this? You're using Google system a lot more or were you reverting back this year? The traditional way you'd use remote control, right just the using the standard volume channel of Buns or like how how did having assistant on their control changed the way you interact with this change in the couple is so. Big in the ANDROID. Google TV. Sorry interfaces for you page which I guess it's a personalized page based off of shows and movies that you like and. Content that you traditionally watch and what is recommending was actually pretty good. That's the default homepage. Ties in necessarily to the assistant the ties to some that personalization aspects I find that to be pretty useful as far as what Google is doing there, and for the assistant director part the voice portion of it. I found myself constantly using assistant to open APPs or two. I was using TV and fan. So just to switch between football and the Yankee game saying. Okay Google the key game in having automatically switched to the right channel. Was Super Helpful and it was doing this regardless of whatever APP was in. So I was watching something on Netflix are on regular youtube and I wanted to see what was going on the Yankee game I'd say Okay Google hold the button down okay Google go to the Yankees game and it would do that. Sometimes it took a few seconds to do that at one point I timed. It knows over ten, which for live TV is pretty bad. Ten second wait between when you want to go somewhere say you WanNa go somewhere and when it actually appears. that needs to improve tremendously, and it wasn't that I had a bad internet connection I have couple hundred megabits per second more on testing. So that needs to improve at otherwise the assistant has been great to use an pretty surprised to say that because voice assistance on these streaming devices. Has Been At least in my experience a bit more hit or miss. So taken together with all these new features, their control and just to clarify. Cost, fifty dollars and that's that's more than the previous rate it is. Go to models previously, there was a chrome cast macroom castle tre. So this does pretty much everything. The chrome cats ultra does the higher end I believe it was seventy dollars model that now's only available in a stadium bundle for now studios actually coming to. Chrome cast with Google TV, this new device, but it's not coming until sometime officially in the believe first half of twenty twenty one. So sometime, next year. So this is actually cheaper. The matter is more expensive than the HD, only chrome cast but that for I believe it was thirty dollars, lacks the interface lacks a remote lacks four case for twenty dollars more you get all that plus the ability to run all these APPs without having to rely on your phone computer tablet. Got It. So taking all together, the price, the new features, the remote control, how does this stack up against similar option from Roku, Amazon through its fire TV line so that's a great question. It really depends on what world you live in. That's how look at this. If you are somebody who has a lot of Amazon devices, I'm not gonNA say the word because I don't want to trigger things. If you have a lot of those devices and you're very much in the Amazon World The fire TV stick four K. is excellent. It's faster than this. The election degration sorry said that word is not as strong as Google, assistant. But it is a very capable, very impressive device. If you have a lot of apple devices roku streaming stick plus which is forty dollars is an equally compelling option especially when it has play which roku announce, the other week is coming at some point soon. So it really depends on where you you find yourself if you just want all the APPs and this has hbo Mac, which is something that Amazon, Roku currently lack. This is not a bad option. Yeah. That was the fault question there because there's been a lot fusion about which streaming services are available on in which dreamers. The generally, the chrome cast is pretty much covered for all your services, the croome cast with Google TV, because they're still regular chrome cast being sold. This one has I would say out of the major ones ninety, nine percents of is missing. Apple. TV plus. Is available on Roku Amazon, and of course, the Apple TV if you want something that currently has everything you have to get an apple TV. Apple TV. For K., but those I think the Apple TV fourcade currently hundred eighty dollars or so. So you have to pay a sizable upgrade plus some pretty old hardware at this point has been rumored to be prepping new boxes of some kind. Were to do that for a while maybe comes out your maybe it doesn't through kind of all over the map there. But that's the only one that has every major streaming service Google has everyone but apple TV plus roku Amazon have everyone bought Hbo Max so it really depends. You S reviewer I'm just curious how you put these things which pesos what is the review process look like especially when you're doing this at home It's a lot of watching. TV. And a of watching movies and seeing how it performs. In a variety of different settings. So different TV's different picture options with different content sources so Disney plot for example, on the Google TV doesn't stream currently until be vision but Netflix does have some content available in dolby vision and will be. Available on the chrome cast with Google TV. So it's it's comparing different things. It's comparing the performance of those content sources to how a roku streaming stick plosser Amazon Fire TV stick for K.. Would handle playing back that particular movie or TV show or piece of live. Content TV's sports. And just comparing and contrasting to watching that sounds like a really tough job. Ultimately is worth. Fifty dollars I think. So if you again keeping in mind that. The exact situation will vary if you like Apple TV, this is not the option for you. If you have a very big Amazon household you wanted to tie in. Really. Well to your rings. And to some of your other Amazon devices. This isn't the option for you. if you want to do airplay, this isn't the option trio. But if you want something that's simple that has a solid interface that has really good remote and isn't that expensive at fifty dollars is a pretty good choice.

"Linked in just named better dot com number one on its list of top fifty startups, which means they're hiring like mad. The company is the sleeper success of the mortgage world. Undoubtedly, you've heard of its huge rival quicken loans, the largest mortgage lender in the US, but despite the eight billion dollars in loans, better dot com issued. Shaw Garg tells a classic origin story in two, thousand, thirteen he and his wife were shopping for an apartment in New York City finding the right place at the right price was hard enough. Then they applied for a mortgage it was so much harder than it should be like horrendously bad guard told linked in writer Devon boundary. Their mortgage processor was so slow that they lost the apartment and get this. They weren't exactly slouches when it came to understanding Finance Guard was professionally managing billions of dollars in mortgage backed securities in his wife was a banker as battery reported guard thought if it's so bad for us, we'll how bad is it for everybody else? That's when he decided to start his own mortgage company one that would do things better. BETTER DOT COM launched publicly in two thousand sixteen like quicken loans better is an online firm that allows customers to apply for a mortgage and complete the entire process without speaking to a human being. Choose for the most part algorithms decide whether you get that loan or not, and what it will cost better. Dot Com sells the loans to institutional lenders a common mortgage industry practice. The big piece that guard changed industry-wide loan officers operate on a commission not. So at better, the company says its model freeze it up to match the right loan with a customer rather than incentivizing staffers to sell you the most expensive they can in addition customers say that commission fees as well as some other fees that guard wrung out of the process once launched better dot com did fairly well given the scads of competition out there, but it's the pandemic economy that. If it succeeds, the company will be valued at about four billion dollars. That's an insane amount of money for someone who used his apartment down payment to fund his business launch. That's right and his wife never bought that New York apartment. We're betting that they're glad they didn't, but and there's always a but right as high flying is this startup is it's a mosquito on the back of quicken loans and rocket mortgage both owned by the rocket companies together those two companies earned almost six and a half billion dollars in revenue just in the first half of this year both are household names unlike their smaller rival rocket companies went public in August in what the information says was the second largest IPO of the year, it rocketed to almost two billion dollars. With the economy faltering again though rocket share prices down ten dollars from its high of thirty dollars at the end of last month questions abound about how long the housing boom will last.

Swim at hotel pools with Daycation app

"All those beautiful hotels and all those beautiful pools and probably thinking I'd love to just go spend a day at the pool but I don't WanNa stay overnight 'cause it's in my neighborhood. What if it was a station? What if it was a daycare while matthew bones got a new APP called Daykitchen that can arrange for you to just go over to the pool and hang out for a for a small fee matthew. This is the apple of my dreams tell everybody about it. Thank you so much. Thank you so much for having me on Truly appreciate it, and yeah, that's A fun time for us to see what can happen with patient obviously lots of things size of negative in the external environment but we're making our way through happy to tell you about the company and how it started. We'll basically just just the fill everybody in for twenty to thirty dollars. You can go to a local hotel and go hang at the pool for a day, right? Exactly. Yeah. That's the idea instant vacation in your pocket on the quicker Biden whether you're living in the city. Or in the future traveling on, you can click a button and hang out at the hotel for the day. Enjoyed a pool, enjoy all the amenities and you're primarily in Florida right now. So. Yeah. We have hotels actually in over twenty five cities we started in Miami we have over twenty hotels in. Miami Beach Miami proper by now we're we're expanding really rapidly. You just find were hotels one in Greece just last week, and then two more and in South America this week So it's been been wild to see all the new properties coming on you know I waiting I'm waiting for Los Angeles absolutely yes. We have many people waiting for Angeles and why here our launching a number of new properties here, which will be great all socially distanced and with the covert features that we put in to to make sure people stay safe as well. This is a tough time because they don't want too many people too many people to pool, but eventually, Kobe will be behind us and we'll be able to go do the dream vacation tell everybody how you cannot with the APP. Your or thing Always had a passionate for hospitality of I grew up working in a small Boutique Hotel in Right next to Jackson. Hole Wyoming. and I had this dream of one day dubbing developing luxury hotels around the world But as a starter needed to use something a little bit more creative to get into the industry and so my family and I. We're on this trip to Cancun Mexico and we're walking up and down the beaching resolve. These beautiful hotel cools all these people having fun and enjoying themselves and we thought no, one would be great if we can just go in there for the day and walk in and out of them if we could done the day enjoying the amenities said, no. You can't come in unless you haven't overnight room and so. I was sitting in my dorm room at Brown University Are Studying economics at the time and this idea hitting I thought wait a minute. Now, what if we created this system for all these beautiful hotels around the world sell more than just the overnight room and so we created vacation to solve that problem for hotels empty space that they want to sell and those people that are here on vacation looking to try new hotel properties or adversity. Now, all of those locals that are looking for a way to take on quote vacation or station on their sted one of some of the twenty five cities that you're him. So at some other cities, include Miami we are do have ocal here in Los Angeles for obviously launching more we have stuff in New York. We have a number of hotels throughout the Caribbean we watched up in Chicago interestingly enough places. In. Arizona Hawaii. Texas work kind of goes on. New Alexa products may be shown off soon

"Heard apple we heard from Samsung. Now it's Amazon's turn Amazon stymied to have their event on Thursday September twenty four announcing a whole new slate of Alexa products I'm here with consider he runs the voice dot ai blog and weird and have some fun talking about what we might see. Now last year we had glasses. We had the ear buds. We had the fancy speaker that sounded better than any Alexa. Speaker ever sounded the studio. What do you think? What do you think we could possibly see this year. I think it's going to be light on hardware. Actually I. THINK WE'RE GONNA see a lot more applications and services this year it just seems like that's the way they're headed right now we're starting to see them call their portfolio a little bit I do expect to see an upgraded. Amazon Echo for example, because we're a couple years since that last updated So we might see that we might see an echo plus update and we could potentially see another round of updates to the smart displays because they've been updating those each year. but for the most part I, think the stories are GONNA be around. Is and features. Okay. Would you say the New Echo? That's the entry level basic of seventy, nine dollar. Speaker that started it all. That is the one and eight. When it started at all I think it was one, hundred, eighty, nine dollars when it first launched might have been one, hundred, ninety nine then they brought it down. So yeah, it should be somewhere between seventy nine and ninety nine dollars. It's not the echo dot, which is the one that people will see for twenty to thirty dollars when it's on sale but that is really the flagship of the of the portfolio and it's due for an upgrade. What could they do what they do to make it interesting To make it interesting. I'm not sure. I mean the the most recent one was actually quite good They could increase the audio quality a little bit more but then it's GonNa be in competition with Echo Studio, which was a device i. know you like a great deal last year I expect them to potentially have some do safeguards at a hardware level around privacy that would be something that could do with. Better Processing Power they might announce something with performance and speed. In fact, most likely they will I'm not sure that that will be specific to the device though probably more likely will be impact based on the cloud processing and ultimately the natural language understanding layer of the Alexa Service. Now, what I think they need to do is really put a lot of effort onto video and the echo show which. You know as we've moved to everything's online, every trade shows online every classes online all of our work is online. That Lil unit has been left out of the equation. We should just be saying Hey Alexa start my meeting and they did announced that there can be working with zoom on one of the units but I think they really need to put a lot of effort into putting video I what what's your thoughts? Yeah I I suspect that we're to see some services along those lines although you have to look at what Amazon has to bring to the table. So Zoom is a nice integration. It's it is available now and echo show not as tight is the integration as they have for the conference room they already had many people don't know this already had integration with zoom for conference room setting. That was Alexa for business, and what they're doing now is available for consumers because that's a new swing on the way things have changed recently, people need that at home more I'm interested to see what they do with the television. So I think that that's likely to be a more fruitful area for them to explore the use of video and the integration with Alexa. So bring zoom and Google or whatever whatever program into the into the fire TV edition. Yes. Okay, well, that sounds like fun. I have one of those in my living room and it sure would be a really convenient. Well if you think about it too like people are using these devices now. To talk to loved ones right and so we have an echo show and I, and I gave one to my parents first edition when it came out of him to my my brothers. So we can. We can all get together and we can have these one one calls with each other. They're Nice. But the ECHO show is like a small screen even the larger ones are small compared to the television and in it's not necessarily in a place where it's easy for everyone to sit around the television. Is actually much better setup for that. If you'RE GONNA do family to family calling and I. Hope that will allow you to be able to do a multi-party calling for that as well. So zoom allows multi-party calling very useful feature for people during the pandemic they WANNA get get together with people. They can't see echo show is one to one right now, and so if they could do multi-party off of that, that would be a big step up if they can do it through the TV even better.

COVID-19 Transmission is Solvable

"I wanted to star. With a really dumb obvious question, which is, can you describe to me all the ways in which you can look for the presence of virus that you would be? Well, that's not an obvious question at all. Within each virus viruses just like. Any other thing they have a genetic code, and then they have a bunch of proteins and the genetic code of a virus is Arnie, which is akin to a human's DNA, and so the same way that you could do a forensic investigation of a crime scene and use DNA defined if there was a human specific human at the crime scene, you can do a forensic investigation to look for Ra to know if there was an inside of a person so. That's one way and that's this tool that these molecular tools that we call PCR, and then there's a different way instead of using the genetic makeup and the Arna to look for the virus. In this case, you could actually look for the proteins that make up the virus and that's where these antigen tests really shine. So you can either look for the genetic code or you could look for the proteins I like to call these rapid antigen tests, transmission indicating tests. There's one other major way which is a quickly and that's to. Look for the immunological response to the virus, because humans are good at making immune response to viruses. So it's a different way and that's antibody based detection but that's I put it in a whole different category because it usually comes after infection. Yeah. So the first way looking for the aren a is the kind of gold standard that's exactly right and so if I go to the hospital and get a today, get a Cova test, the looking for giving me the using to see if I have fires in my system that's right and what's the cheapest that a PC tests could produce result that actual price of tests can be done for about six bucks maybe. Even less so it can be really cheap, but the differences, the whole infrastructure around PCR test they have to be done in labs. So you have logistics of transport you have all of the people working in the lab robots and and so generally, it really drives the cost up and as we've seen the average test costs anywhere from thirty dollars at the absolute low end up to one hundred and fifty dollars for some labs that are charging in contrast be CR, two antigen tests. How do engine chess? What do they look like? What's their cost in time profile they? They look like a pregnancy test and they work like a pregnancy test actually they can be made. A little piece of paper generally speaking. You put some of the sample whether that be some swab that's been mixed with some saline solution or saliva onto a paper strip, and it shows up with a line turns either for example, red if it's positive or blue, it's negative and those can be made in the in huge numbers. They don't require instruments they don't usually require. There's a few on the market right now that to get the. Sensitivity at the FDA wanted they have some instrumentation associated but in reality, these are used for malaria strep for all these different infections they've been around for very long time and they can be done just on a piece of paper and five minutes and they could get down to you can produce them for fractions of a dollar and they might be sold to the public or built by the government for. A dollar apiece or something along those lines. So you're you've been a the perhaps the leading public proponent public health proponent of. Using Antigen, tests much more broadly to fight this. Derek and I wanted to the first time I. Heard you give this argument you convince me about two minutes. And I still don't understand why why don't we have this system because I can imagine a world where if it's this if they're cheaper easy, then you know every kid before they went to school in the morning. Would take one of these fifty cents or one dollar tests, and if they were positive, they would say home in their negative we would know that could go to school like. If, I want to go to a restaurant, why can't I just sat stand investable the restaurant take test and wait for my response and if I'M If I'm negative I get to go to the restaurant it just strikes me as. This is a way to get going again. Why are we not doing this? Can you explain that I can I have a few theories I. mean they're not just theories. They're they're. In the middle of this. So these tests because of this whole sensitivity issue early in March or really in January the world decided that was the gold standard for these tests and I don't think and I that this will maybe come. We'll come across wrong for some people but there hasn't been enough thought place into what exactly does the PR test mean, and is it the right gold standard? The only pathway that we have to evaluate tests like this in the United States are medical diagnostic pathways there pathways designed specifically to ensure that a physician like a detective is getting all of the information they need to diagnose a sick person in front of them so it's really been. First and foremost a regulatory hurdle we have so devalued and de funded public health across our country and really across the world. That we actually didn't, we don't have a regulatory pathway to approve test whose primary objective is is one of stopping an epidemic verses one of diagnosing sick person and that has really led. That's everything up all of the companies that could be producing these these really rapid tests in the millions and millions they have been sitting on these tests trying to hone them trying to get them just a little bit better just a little bit better so that the so that they can pass FDA standards as a medical diagnostic. It's not just slowing down their approval and getting them out to the public. It's actually bottle necking the company's into creating tests that are not going to be as scalable because they're having to use more expensive reagents they're starting to put them with instruments and package them more. They have to actually become more expensive, highly manufactured tests. When in reality, they're just these little pieces of paper. That if we can do the cheap version of they can be made very fast, but they just won't get through the FDA at the moment

"So I just found out that the fresh prince of bel-air the mansion in La they airbnb manage. So you can stay in it for night and Kinda live. Same mentioned the fresh prince taped fresh prince of Bel. Air. But this is my problem it sold out already thirty dollars. It sold it as thirty dollars a night damn Bertha I I know for a fact that envy is not reading the other stipulations. There's no way that places just thirty dollars night it's got to be more to celebrate at thirtieth anniversary is thirty dollars. And the money is go into odd I, believe the boys and girls club something like that. That donate all the money but thirty dollars was to. Do to keep it like you get to keep it for three days. pood- at one night exactly like how long do you get to stand there for thirty dollars? Does it matter? Says Dole. That's like. Mint Mobile launches cheap unlimited cell plan

"You know. So many of us per stretched and we're trying to make our budgets last through the month at a time that for many people incomes are down. So one area I'd like you to look at is how to attack your monthly expenses and one that a lot of just pay because that's what we pay is what we pay for cell phone service. So I want to give you a couple of choices on cell phone service that comes with unlimited data from two different companies one geared towards an individual paying for his or her own bill. In the second for people that are joining together with others. On a plan to save money. Let's start with the one for individuals. There's a company that runs really cute TV ads called met mobile. There was. So as a reseller, they bake pass the from the big three cell phone players, and then they sell their own branded service under the meant mobile name. Meant. Mobile is doing a deal right now on unlimited data plan where you've got unlimited talk text and data for a flat thirty dollars a month. But there's some hoops you have to jump through. So let's say you WanNa do this thirty dollars a month plan you could be on one that's significantly higher with others if you're doing unlimited data. What you do is you pay meant mobile for the first three months when you port your number and so you give them ninety bucks and it covers your cell phone service for the next three months. You hit the end of those three months. If you're happy with mobile, you can then by the next year from them at the thirty dollars a month. So, Ye end up having to give them three hundred sixty bucks. But then you know you have no cell phone bill for the whole next year is for the quality of the network with mobile. I never get complaints about that. Now that I've said that Oh hear from people who have complaints, but it is an alternative that can give you freedom from worrying about data overages. or data caps and no you're paying a flat thirty bucks. The other alternative is from verizon discount on a lot of people don't know verizon has a discount operator and people known for years. that. T mobile has metro. And Cricket is at and T.'s discounter but horizon acts like visible doesn't exist. But visible does exist is verizon's discounter and they have a plan called party pay. It's designed for two people together three people together or four people together. On a cell phone plan, but with a twist. If you just get a buddy or a relative or whatever to join you on visibles party Pay Plan Each of you were billed individually. So one person doesn't have to pay the whole bill and then chased the other people to pay them their portion of the bill each month. All they got to do is stay with visible together on their party. Pay Plan. So, two people get unlimited talk unlimited taxed unlimited data for thirty five dollars a month each three people, thirty dollars a month each and you got four people together twenty five dollars a month each. Again this is RISA NHS discount honor. You won't see it on Verizon's website. If you went to a verizon store, they wouldn't know what you were talking about. If you call verizon customer no service, they wouldn't know what it was. You have to go to the website visible dot com. And then you're in the money in the savings on for is network on a variety plan, but from their discount brand called visible.

"Hundred thirty dollars to win a hundred that makes them the largest favorite in the history of the wildcard game which dates back as an and twelve so booker you at this idea that you brought up this morning gifts that you think they're homefield advantage should mean more with it better record should mean more and a onegame playoff scenario then just home field the he's at a sixgame better records that you believe the twin should have to win an extra game i think when you look at the situation is an unfair advantage if you the better team year yeah they give you home field but when you've been the better team all year you should get an advantage and only have to win one game however if you the twins you the worst team only should you go on the road but you should have to win two games i don't like the idea of a onegame winnertakeall while car situation especially for the yankees because the one thing about these yankees especially with joe girardi managing joe girardi gets a little tight and little nervous in somebody's big games he's got to get one of the best pitchers in baseball tonight and not to get to base bali right here but it'll be very very key how does joe girardi handle me tonight because i think he's probably third fourth fifth best pitcher in baseball somewhere near depending on how you look at his stuff is outstanding slaughtered change past policy electric let him pitch they should have an advantage tonight not just a one game series in the book you down they should be able to say you know what we have the luxury says we were the better team we can have two games to win one if you the twins unique two games to win two hashtag too far tuesday for me and we're gonna come up against the end the hour here so we'll talk about this off the top i do like the idea of increasing the advantage to me that would be going a little bit too far personally i have a love hate relationship with his second wild card and i've i've talked about it over the years both with bud n with manfred and we'll do that as we continue much harder to go as we roll on just getting started on a tuesday mike.
