"So this has been a wild year. In the world of finance there were reddit users posting screen shots showing that they had made millions or tens of millions of dollars trading options on game stop and there were some really odd corners of the crypto world. There was a coin called doj coin which is named after a dog neem and started as a joke that rose twenty four thousand percent. There were artists who were selling these things called. Nf tease for tens of millions of dollars. There was a sense that i felt. I think a lot of people shared that money had stopped being tethered to reality in any meaningful way but even amidst all of that. There was nothing as intriguing as story that broke back in april about a deli in rural new jersey that had practically no revenue but had somehow obtained value of one hundred thirteen million dollars on the stock market. My name is jesse barron and a contributor to the new york times magazine and i read about finance and crime right after the story broke. In mid april a lot of magazines and papers started sending reporters to do some version of the same story business inside or on. Cnbc and the new yorkers talk of the town all sent reporters to the single-story concrete building read awnings in this town in new jersey to eat the chicken parmesan sandwich or the cheesecake and make some version of the conclusion that this sandwich is not worth one hundred thirteen million dollars and other reporters were trying to figure out the financial side and some people said it was a fraud or a scam. So i started digging into the documents. The regulatory filings and immediately things got bizarre because one of the biggest shareholders in your hometown deli was a hedge fund headquartered in hong kong another shareholder was based in macau the only place in china where gambling is legal. At first. no one was taking my calls. The finance people weren't talking to me. The deli. people weren't talking to me. But eventually i found the secret connection that i've been looking for between the small town in rural new jersey and the hedge fund in hong kong was one character a mysterious american financier named peter. Lee coker junior. So here's my story. The mystery of the hundred thirteen million dollar deli. Read by james patrick cronin. This was recorded by autumn. Autumn is an app. You can download to listen to lots of audio stories from publications such as the new york times the new yorker vanity fair and the atlantic in a letter to his investors. This april david einhorn founder of the hedge fund greenlight capital and a well-known short seller complained that the stock market was in a state of quasi anarchy as one piece of evidence. He pointed to elon. Musk whose commentary on twitter einhorn said amounted to market manipulation. The laws don't apply to him and he can do whatever he wants. On hor noted as another example. He cited a restaurant in rural new jersey. Called your hometown delhi which despite making thirteen thousand nine hundred seventy six dollars in revenue last year had somehow attained a value of one hundred thirteen million dollars on the stock market later that morning. A pdf of einhorn's letter appeared on the financial news website. Value walk soon. The bloomberg journalist. Joe weisenthal tweeted a link with a screen. Shot of the part about the deli. What the hell he wrote. Hundreds of people re tweeted him. The story took off. Your hometown landed on the front page of the financial times. In the new yorkers talk of the town on npr and in the business section of the new york. Post your hometown deli. In paul's bro. New jersey was just an unassuming sandwich shop. Cbs news reported. Now it's a wall street mystery. It was the sort of mystery that seemed to be everywhere in the pandemic year a time in which money many people felt stopped making sense within the end times atmosphere of cove nineteen strange financial instruments were appearing offering dubious chances to flip a stimulus. Check into overnight. Riches already user posted robinhood screen cap's showing game stop options worth. Enu coins mattered. More to your household finances than your income your rent and what you paid for food. Your hometown sold cheese steaks and chicken parmesan in a concrete building. With red awnings about twenty miles south philadelphia. This would not seem like a high growth business model but since it went public in two thousand nineteen the delis stock price has risen twelve hundred percent to thirteen dollars a share in regulatory filings. It announced an intention to franchise your hometown deli plans to feature homestyle sandwiches food items and groceries and a casual and friendly atmosphere one document in addition to ready to eat food. Your hometown deli cells co cuts by wait. A wide variety of beverages are also sold together with potato chips and similar products. Your hometowns chief. As marinas vice president marina was listed as cfo and treasurer too in his litter. Einhorn cautioned that your hometown seemed like a scam. Small investors who get sucked into these situations are likely to be harmed he wrote and maybe that was all. It added up to further proof that the us stock market had become hopelessly underregulated prone to meaningless whip sauce a place where individuals got smoked by random chance while billionaires enriched themselves with tweets exhibited next to game stop or does coin or a sixty nine million dollar j. peg cheesecake restaurant gaining twelve hundred percent in market value was not uniquely unbelievable but it was uniquely hard to explain. Some people had gone to the trouble of opening a small business in far western new jersey. That sold sandwiches soda and chips. They took it public then. They watched as its value climbed past one hundred million dollars or had they made it climb. Was the situation in. Paul's bro. An accident or.

"Keep your flexibility high so you can go where the opportunity is now long way. Take good advice. Take good counsel think and talk to people and take the advice of experts because if you talk to the experts the experts can help you to figure out how to do things smartly tax to to talk about how to structure things. There are a lot of people in this listening audience who have started a company or been involved in a and never went and sat down with a tax expert. Never went and sat down with an ira. Could i put this in my ira right. Your first question should be. Could i put my company era after all. I don't want to leave the united states and moved to or to do by. Just so i can have zero tax. Could i put my mo- my company and my the enter. Maybe yes maybe no but you should ask the questions and be looking for those things as teal did so those are things you can do be involved and the inside. Always try to find the community people who are involved in it right and a couple of weeks. I'll be in malta. ideally I'll be in portugal in multan a couple of weeks and i'm going there and looking into what's happening on the ground. I want to know what's happening with the cryptocurrency space. Now it's less promised seems less promising now at a few years ago but the island of malta in the mediterranean was trying to position itself as the crypto currency island. Well you should pay attention to things like that and say we're going. Silicon valley might work well for a lot of people. But i don't know silicon valley is the place right now But i i hopefully. We'll be in by later this year. Right i think dubai a lot going forward. If i were in the finance space. I'm much more interested in spending time in dubai than i am in in new york city at this point. Although there's still plenty of opportunity in new york city so look for where you think opportunity and put yourself in the way of it and then just be smart about what you're doing because you can model. What -til did you may not wind up with a five billion dollars in your roth. Ira you may not by the way this two hundred sixty three bothers me because like let me let me tell you why it bothers me. I wrote myself just to do this. Bothers me so much. The same thing like these worthless they have these worthless These were completely and utterly worthless Things about well if every person in houston texas all two point. Three million people put two thousand dollars in a bank. Still wouldn't be worth five billion dollars. Okay well what does that. What does that matter really. Human brain doesn't capture big numbers. Here it says assuming a modest six percent annual return no withdrawals his tax free golden egg could be worth about two hundred and sixty three billion dollars in two thousand eight. Eighty seven with plans celebrate his hundred and twentieth birthday. So i have a new baby. So let's say that i put in. I pay my baby to model for my business. And i put in two thousand dollars in to his roth ira by the way. Not saying newbie. Maybe it was two years old now but i put two thousand dollars into his roth. Ira and let's assume that Because of life extension -til thinks he's gonna live to one hundred and twenty. But i think that by then we're gonna live to one hundred eighty so if we start with one hundred and eighty years and we earn. I don't i think six percent is a little bit too high. But maybe he can only earn five percent on his investments then in one hundred and eighty years. Then you know my my son could have thirteen million dollars in one hundred and eighty thousand one hundred and eighty years by the way it actually kind of disproves. My points shows how spectacular is but what going to invest in my business. So he's going to start with this year he's going to have a million dollars. Give me a better man. He's gonna put a million dollars in his account today and then one hundred eighty years. You'll have six point five. What does this trillions. I can remain numbers so the point is that what is two hundred sixty three billion dollars just doesn't it doesn't no not mad at them but the point is these numbers. Let's extrapolate out the national debt. Let's extrapolate out the value of the dollar. We don't know we're all guessing on the future. We don't have any idea on any of these things that wasn't quite the spectacular show any nine -ticipant. I just wanted to say to you that it's a remarkable article but you can do it too. You can do this to you. Can use the exact same valuation.

"What's going on guys. It is monday april twenty six and today we're talking about j. p. morgan's bitcoin journey from worse than tulips to not my cup of tea to a new client product first. Let's do the brief. I on the brief today. Sports in crypto are definitely coming together in this cycle a couple of years ago. Nfl offensive tackle russell. Kun made a now famous declaration. Pay me in bitcoin. He currently takes half of his thirteen million dollar salary and btc and half in fiat. Kansas city chiefs. Tight end sean. Culkin is taking it to the next level. And we'll be converting the entirety of his twenty twenty one base salary. Nine hundred and twenty thousand dollars into btc. Culkin is going to convert his fiat to bitcoin. Salary conversion service. This is the same service that russell uses and it means that the paychecks are automatically converted which detaches them from market movements and allows coke in his own words to stay focused on the game for their part. The kansas city chiefs are aware but their contract is still denominated in. Us dollars about the deal. Culkin said quote for me it makes sense to get paid in the hardest form of currency. And it's something that's resistant. Inflationary pressures that. I think is very relevant in this current economic environment. That wasn't the only. Nfl crypto news today as the presumptive number one draft pick from later this week. Trevor lawrence announced a sponsorship deal with block folio the bonus of which will be paid entirely incredible out clearly. There is a mainstreaming momentum. Going on all right next up on the brief w is going on in turkey. I've been keeping you posted on everything happening in turkey but it's just gotten crazier on april sixteenth. The central bank announced that crypto would be banned as a means of payment. Effective april thirtieth. Two days later turkish exchange codex went off line on april eighteenth. The ceo of that company has gone missing and there are claims of massive fraud. Sixty two people with ties to the platform have been detained now for people have been detained as part of an investigation into verbal coin. Which is another turkish exchange. But none of this has stopped. Turkish crypto usage. In fact it's gone up sharply.

"thirteen million dollars" Discussed on Vegas Nation - Raiders Football

"Set yourself up for the next decade on on that side of the ball. Yeah and by the way we didn't also mentioned that If if somebody starts to fall prey on somebody's A need to get up. You know whoever that player that defensive player might be You know that that maybe not a huge need for the raiders but you know a couple of teams wanna get up there to to To to be able to lock that player down maybe you trade down a couple of spots and still get your shovel jenkins or even a darus depending on how You know the draft plays out so yeah. I'm i'm with. The i really like the thought of the raiders putting together a very young A young talented and And and and mostly with cult miller. Now you know getting ready for a big payday Much more economically manageable offensive line. Because now you know if you get that right tackle now you have a guy under control like you said for a number of years but especially for those first five years. A reasonable cost so you know. That's that's definitely something that the writers probably will and should Do before we get out of here. just wanted to talk real quick about the fact that It looks like the. Nfl is gonna add seventeenth the game. Yeah i'm for the season. Looks like the The raiders are gonna play the bears at allegiance stadium That's going to be their their their new opponent Onto the schedule. I think it's i think it's a good thing i know players are a little bit of you know Upset about it and real quick because a lot of people have been asking me. How does pay work for the seventeenth game because we all know the players get paid per game. You know you take whatever. The salary is divided by seventeen or sixteen games now And that's what you get each week you don't get paid in the preseason. You don't get paid in the postseason you get paid sixteen weeks out of the year on your on. Your game checks devout. You know your salary divided by those games while seventeenth game changes the calculus right and How how does that work. So did a little bit of detective work last night to figure out. Okay how does that. How will the pay be affected and kind of interesting salmon. It's it's it's it's a little bit like you know you're either in good your players who signed their contracts prior to The the ratification of the of the new collective bargaining agreement. Which is done last summer. If you sign your contract before the ratification of the new deal you get a seventeenth check That's equivalent of your. You know sixty nine checks so you just get an extra check in the amount of whatever it is that you get paid per month or forget right so if you're at aaron donald than let's say just makes twenty two million dollars a year. I got to see what it is but divide twenty two by sixteen and that's how much it gets per week. And then he'll get an additional seventeen. Jack that is not has no impact whatsoever on the salary cap. So if you're derek. Carr you're getting an extra check if you're anyone that signed their contract before last summer gets there gets that anybody that signed since their salaries now just get divided by the seventeen so You know somebody like let's say yada gateway Just his his salary has thirteen million dollars. Now get spread over seventeen games rather than sixteen games. So it's kinda like the timing of it is is a little bit like if you're if you're one of those guys assigned afterwards you know you're you're you're taking a little a shock to the wallet compared to seventy signed that. Yeah i mean this to me. I mean we got a new right. I mean all size pointing seventeenth game. This is necessary. Surprised has been has been talked about for years right decades. Frankly i mean there's always been talk as long as paying attention to football of possibly expanding the season the regular season adding another game so not necessarily now. Obviously there would be the trickle down effect as you touched on your story. Review journal dot com. Excellent informative piece by the way on writer touching on this preseason games right so you trink the preseason a little bit in you as a result you tack on that game. It's not a surprise. It's it's definitely not surprise. But this is something i mean like you talked about with a cpa. I mean those conversations add about the seventeenth game when the was ratified. An adjusted in the players did negotiate some perks. They did get a better deal for themselves. Know maybe not quite as good as they coulda got. I thought there was some things they could probably Bargained a little bit. More for less is better than the last deal. There is going to be more money coming in with this new. Tv deal got announced a couple of weeks ago too so Not necessarily surprise is my take this legal adjust. The players will adjust message. Kind of what. It is the. Nfl make so much money. The players as a result are going to see a little bit more that and that's a good thing in the cost of that is going to be an extra regular season game so It might be weird this year. But i think you don't a few years or we're not gonna have any problems That's what it's going to be. Yeah i think even with the pay. It'll all sort itself out like if you're in a negoti. This year was weird year. Like you said because the salary cap went down but once it starts And i think that's why players are taken shorter deals Right now With the anticipation that you know once the seventeenth game. is reflected in the deal which that's gonna probably be announced officially on tuesday in addition to the seventeen games You know the you're going to have a better idea of what those salary. Caps are gonna look like now moving forward and so if i'm negotiating a contract i would say you know. My thing is all right. I want you know x. Amount of dollars plus give me one more check like the equivalent of so whatever the whatever the new salad whatever you're negotiating for your client the salary is going to be reflective of you know of that part of it you know that there's now seventeen games in that sixteen games but hey I know there's there's positives and negatives everything but for us a one more real game. I think it's a cool thing. And i think the fans are gonna love it. It beats you know appreciate of meaningless. Preseason game so it'll be interesting to see how rosters are affected by that injured reserve lists. And you know Because it is another game and that's this is a violent sport and health becomes you know is always a factor so we'll see if they give teams A few breaks on on how they can manage the rosters. It's a seventeen game rather than sixteen and it was We'll see how that all plays out That decision is coming on tuesday. The voters on tuesday at the owners meetings Which are done. Virtually right now And we'll keep an eye on what's going on with the raiders. This week seve. They any moves in the secondary or on the offensive line. Whatever the case is we will be all over it and We'll see if there's a need for an additional podcast This week if so we'll see you then if not we'll see you next week. Same time. Both on one year deals but only gonna cost the team fourteen and a half million dollars in fact brady just cream jackson. If the broncos would have picked up his contract option last week and kept him on the team on his original deal his cap that would have been thirteen million dollars. Now you get both of these guys for fourteen and a half or izzak. We're getting a lot of listeners. Texting in about the about the one deals. You're seeing this throughout the nfl. But that's that's because the salary caps going to be moving around after this season correct exactly. Yeah and the veterans especially guys that want to still cash in one more time. Don't want to D don't wanna take take a discount for multiple years now. So that's why you're seeing korean coming back for five for five million. Seeing kyle fuller only signed for nine and a half million dollars because of these It's more prove it years when instead of getting a long term deal this offseason which you would typically from a veteran with because of the covid and the salary cap going down. It's because of that interesting. all right. So kareem jackson zach. I gotta be honest. When they didn't pick up the option. I thought kareem was gone. I was arguing on on twitter and social media about the fact. No no. he's not coming back. This is over because they're going to try to go elsewhere with his money. But the way george peyton is made it a little bit easier. Was this ever in doubt or was this kind of like a shelby harris situation from last year. It was exactly that it wasn't shelby harris situation from last year and it wasn't it was in doubt now. The broncos always kept that line of communication open. But said you can go test the market. They tried to negotiate with corinne before they declined his option And tried to get a restructure back but kareem didn't wanna take a discount so the broncos said you know what cream we really liked you but why don't you go see what the market is like for yourself just like shelby harris. Last year he found out the market wasn't as lucrative. He knows vic fangio system he's probably going to have the most success for a one year deal in vic fangio system now getting to play nuts to simmons again and now have a pro bowl cornerback with him to pair with With bryce callahan and ronald darby. This is something where all of these guys can look really good this year and then kareem's that'll only help him and his value for after this season..

It was a wrongful death lawsuit. I don't know too much about that. It was a wrongful death lawsuits lawsuit against the state and they got awarded. Whatever twenty seven million that seems strange to me they. They awarded someone. Twenty seven million dollars without waiting until everything went to try. I'll similar to j. in that regard right like the like like we didn't they. The exact same thing happened with oj like there was a wrongful. But it'd happened after the trial. Well whatever the oj was. He had a. He had a trial that went and was televised for the part of the year and he was the amazon. That and then we start the better part of the year better part of a year. Yeah no it was. It was like eight month trial for o j. It was really very long. Yeah very long trial and then after. "Broader chang and this is your daily charge. What does shed light on. This mysterious world is our crackle reporter rich. Never welcome rich anything's so let's get right into it. What the heck are nf. Teas that is a good question. And it's a complicated answer but nfc stands for non jewel token in their bisley. They work like a bar code and they're meant to authenticate pieces of digital Like a file or a or a or a video or a or a movie At what it does is basically it designates one version as the authentic version and everything else is just copy right. He gives you the examples of some high profile. Tease of some of the wilder. Ones have gone for lots of money. Sure so right now. There's this auction at the british auction. House christie's is doing ended today and the bidding last time i looked at thirteen million. And it's for a piece of art by by rs named people So that's kind of one at the crazy extreme end of it There were those one clip of lebron james of walking shot that went for like a hundred thousand dollars jack dorsey of twitter is auctioning off the first tweet And i think that one is at at more than two million right now home what. Let's let me kind of break. It down because i think this is where i'm having difficulty wrapping my head around. You mentioned the lebron james to drill clip. Which can easily be shared the tweet by elon. Musk that can be screened. Shot at or can be shared the the the christie's auction that that piece of our it's not physical. It's a digital piece of art. Which again can be copied and shared. Why would someone pay this much money for. I guess what is what is technically though authentic version of this digital asset but ultimately is still a digital asset that you can copy and share right right. So that's that's where it gets really really complicated because the people the people are work. You know that's me. That's in our story like the pictures in our story right and i didn't hate thirteen million dollars but it you know it basically comes down to perception and that's really why this is kind of a fascinating topic because at the heart of it it it. It's we're talking about ownership online and what that means And and so you. I was talking to one one. Berkeley professor for For the story. That i did and his his take was. You know. it's it's about bragging rights but it's also about more than that know like like you. You've got these these pieces of art. That are are prolific online right. Everybody seen i'm like like a meme And if one person owns that you can take credit for for owning this That people love but also you know it. it could also be kind of something deeper than that I liken it to a painting right if you it. It makes sense that you'd want to buy like an original basquiat versus printed and the reason might be because you you might feel closer to the artist if you were to own the quote unquote authentic version of the same go for for an

"The through the next couple of weeks. We'll we'll catch up with you next week. They i look forward to it. Thanks brady time and zak stevens. Vr broncos well. There you go now. The situation is interesting with vaughn. Now you have that the files. A against von were dropped. Charges will be filed. I guess i should say so. He's in the clear there now. It's all about football and what you wanna do going forward. That whole situation is bizarre colfax. We didn't get a lot of information on this. All we know is that vaughan's ex girlfriend i wanna say could it be ex-fiancee possibly ex girlfriend. They were breaking up going through issues. She became pregnant. It was You know we kind of found around about wave on wasn't crazy about that. I don't know how much truth there is to some of the tweets and texts. He sent or whatever. I'm not gonna get into that too much but then when it came to okay there might be some assault charges or something like that. She made it very clear on her own accounts that there was never anything like that ever. No physical altercations whatsoever was never that guy and then that was kind of the last. We heard of it other than the police officials basically saying. We're investigating it well today. It's dropped so i much ado about nothing. I don't know again. I i did. That's that's where we are at this point. You know it's the innocent until proven guilty. So i would imagine. We're moving right along. In this situation with vaughn. So now it comes down to well it does. It does come down to do the broncos. Just run this back. Pave on do they really want von miller and if they do do they just want for the year for a test run and that's a pretty expensive test run right eighteen million dollars and if that's the case okay we we stay here or you sign him for two to three years and you work out a deal but then you're locked in if von has hit that wall if he's hit the proverbial wall and he's not good anymore now. You're locked in to two to three years and you don't. You don't know if you wanna do that just yet. So maybe they go that route kareem jackson. His money is in the books right now. So i mean it shows the f thirty five million left picking up that option with cream. Do you work out a deal. Long-term deal where that comes down a little bit into this year we'll see phillip lindsay is the interesting one. What tender are they putting on if they put if he's at his original undrafted around that would pay him two point. Thirteen million dollars. If the broncos put an original undrafted round tender on him he would get two point. Thirteen million dollars next year and that also means that a team but that doesn't mean a team has a better chance of going after him for even three million knowing they don't have to trade a second round pick if you slap a second round tender on him that means that not only do. The broncos have to approve trade are proven pickup because they can match it if a team offers him anything. Let's say three million dollars. They would also have to give denver a second round pick. That is too expensive for phillip lindsay. Phillip lindsay is not worth a. He's not worth a a second round pick. I don't even know what kind of pick he is So ultimately if you go with the undrafted re first round or undrafted around yeah you open it up. He's going to get to see what's out there. And then denver. We'll get to decide if they wanna match it. I can't imagine lindsay at this stage getting much more than two or three million dollars. At the beginning of last season. I thought six million seems reasonable but his injuries his lack of production way down. He's not really receiving back. So i don't see him making much more than that and if you slap a second round tender on him he safe because no one's going to do that so i guess we're gonna find out you know alexander johnson. I like him. He's he's an energetic player. But he's not like a sound linebacker that's going to be. I think you know. He's a high energy. is he a sound kennedy. Cover these titans. That's what you're looking for. Because you've got a lot of tight ends in the afc west specifically travis kelsey so you need to find somebody that can help bracket those tight. It's that'll be interesting. Tim patrick tim patrick's really intriguing. Because he signed him. Suddenly you know you. Are you overloaded at the wide receiver position because courtland sutton is coming back. Tim patrick probably makes the least amount of sense for me. Just given the fact that you're getting courtland sutton back you have jerry jeudy you have caja hamler. Patrick might be over. All of those receivers right now save for courtland sutton twenty seven minutes after the hour lot to bust into today joker in the all star game we're talking colorado state big news for niko medved. We'll get to that and so much more coming up next. think your bracket can win it all joined. The whole shows bracket challenge and hear the latest in hoops.

Three dollars a piece. wow. I didn't realize that he will try. And he's still higher than they were pre wall street bets yes. They're like ten times higher more than that weren't they at three dollars. I don't know what they're where they scraped the lows at. That's a good question. I don't know yeah. I think they had been as low as five or six bucks within the last year. But i don't know at what time. Yeah now it's what ninety is in the ninety nine hundred one hundred or so or and i think it's right around one hundred so so the way to go as you pointed out. Nobody these are what are called paper losses meaning that he hasn't actually sold the stock yet. He's i mean maybe he has but he needs to hurry up. According to this shirt squeeze does not mean that the the company's gonna get better. Yeah it just means that you know you played the game better than shorter's for the moment from all this did make like enough money to maybe like do something with did they make any money. No only the only way game stop would have made money as that. They had their own stock. Sold it right when that. Well i mean they can always issue more shares of stock which that would have been a brilliant thing for them to do would be just to issue a bunch of shares of stock except the sec. I'd said that there was one company that was driven up by a short squeeze and did issue. Its own stock. And the sec's who've been saying that. That was a no no because they should have known that it was because of manipulation. And it's like this whole concept of manipulation is an absurdity. Yeah eah now. Because it's a you know you should be able to play the game and let the chips fall where they may government. That's how it's supposed to work government manipulates money and interest rates. All the time to you and they don't care about that. Yeah yeah i mean. They're always accusing china of of Of manipulating their currency value. And it's like well you know every fiat money government literally manipulates. The value of its currency ever time issues or does not issue more shots. The reason why they have a fiat currency so they can relate. That's the whole point of. Let's go to tessa. She's on the line in georgia and tessa. We do have a delay on your line. So conversation probably won't be very good but if you have a comment or question feel free to go ahead with it was going to say i have quite a bit of opposition to the decriminalization of drugs because i think it will ultimately lead to legalisation in. I think that could be a problem. Because we can't trust corporations to behave themselves now and they already put poison and a lotta the foods they produce and i don't want them being able to you know put drugs out there but the other thing going to say is another reason. I'm in opposition to become if it's not a you can't offer people plea deal if you can't do that. You're never going to find the people putting these drugs out there Well let me let me address. The first thing. I which is the drugs are going to be out there whether they're sold by a corporation and made in a professional manufacturing facility or whether they're made in my in my buddy jose's bathtub one way or the other they're gonna be made and they're going to get out there and if they're made my buddies bathtub then they're a lot more likely to kill somebody because he's an idiot the the dirty and the other thing that i would say is it doesn't matter who's putting the drugs out there because in terms of being able to track down criminally. Because they're not because of addiction addiction is not caused by drugs. Addiction is a condition that exists inside the attic. It is a condition. it's a. It's a failure to adjust to reality in some. We're looking at something. Yeah and the use of drugs is a symptom of that but if you but if he doesn't get a hold of the drug that he wants he'll do something else and if he can't get a hold of his second favourite drug he'll do something else and if all else fails go out in the front yard spin around in circles until he gets dizzy and falls down and still one way or the other. He's gonna find a way to stop feeling the way he feels. And until you deal with the condition that's making it impossible for him to be present in his life. You have not solved any problems new data. Thank you for the call. Go ahead with your comments. My friend who overdosed and died well one of the last things. He texted to one of our other friends was. He was just looking for any drug at this point because he couldn't find what he's looking for imagine if he could have just went to walmart and got the drug. He was used to doing the amount that he was expecting to do it. Because that's the other problem. Even though i do share some of tests concerns like i'm no big fan of bit mega corporate drug manufacturers right like fan but one thing's for sure when you go by aspirin off the shelf at the local drugstore or walgreens or whatever. It's never phenomenal right. It's always aspirin every time and the count is correct. You know exactly what you're getting the amount of milligrams of whatever acetaminophen or whatever in the product that you're buying and there's a liability on their part if they get that wrong so unless it's a vaccine of course which we've talked about but but but generally there's a liability with these with these manufacturers in the legal marketplace because there's competition and you know the supply chain you know where these things are coming from but that said. I do have some concerns about legalization but not for the reasons she's concerned with. I'm concerned because i want people to be able to manufacture these things without having to ask government permission and without having to get a special license or without needing a license to sell these things or to grow marijuana or whatever and that's what we've seen in every state so far with legalization of marijuana is there's a big regulatory structure that gets built up around it and that adds unnecessary cost. It adds taxation It adds bureaucracy and it makes it so that only a few players can actually have wholesale access to the marketplace and so it's a restricted artificially restricted marketed under legalization out. It's not as bad as prohibition so it's better than prohibition that most people who were going to jail before aren't going to be going to jail but if you still grow marijuana without a permission slip they'll still put you in jail because they're still enforcing cartel writes. This whole thing is a turf war between gangs. It's just not pitched that way. Yeah so if we could actually have total drug decriminalization meaning no penalties whatsoever. Total deep penalties. That would actually be better than having legalization. With regulations of texas. All we need is repeal. "Today and you guys talked about a bunch of ninety s and eighty s movies. And you're like it grossed. Thirteen million dollars. So it's like wild to hear like how inflation has affected the movies like their gross income and stuff. Because i wouldn't say this movie was a huge success by today's standards but it made like a hundred times as much money as some of the movies in the nineties that you guys talked about totally. I mean this movie made one hundred and twenty seven million dollars domestically which is not like a smash hit in you know nowadays but when you compare it to movies of the nineties where it's like it made eighty million dollars and it was the biggest movie in the world. Everything can be avengers endgame in this era and no. I think that's a good thing. Yeah oh yeah. But i don't know that a lot of studios agree with scott. I think they want all of their movies to be avengers. Endgame that to change ching and so the top box office for that year. worldwide number. One was captain america's civil war with one point two billion dollars number two was rogue one a star wars story and number three was finding dory notably all disney films. Yeah you're right now. I've never seen finding dory. It's alright it's alright the originals far better. Yeah i've never seen it either. But i saw the other ones. I like rogue one a lot. "As a coach they'd certainly respect him as a player so we'll see. I mean the people had to buy into mark jackson in oakland and they had to buy into steve kerr who also had no coaching experience. Very good guard. I think the winner here though really Besides harden are the rockets. You know and if you want to say that there's something going on in houston this year. Well i mean you gotta lean on some savvy vets and wall and nola depot and cousins. And i guy like christian would if he has a bit of a breakout season and you can nitpick whether maybe philly was gonna put together better roster a better trade package but if you know if you'd said james simmons was in it will then. Yeah that's bad but you know it's for rockets fans. It's still a kick in crotch. It really is This isn't how you wanted to go with the cavaliers. Though i mean think about coming away with jared allen and taurean prince allen was having Pretty good season so far. Averaging double doubles eleven points and ten rebounds two blocks and all they had to give up was dante. xm who is averaging three point two game so far. And so you got. Andre drummond is a free agent. Now you can move forward with a young core of concepts and various garland. I is like a coral and and alan. Cleveland got really sneaky. There to help facilitate the straight and as they should they help themselves. I don't know about taurean. Prince i mean. He was on a had a role on a team with legitimate championship hopes. But as i said the paths the pacers pacers get cares laverdure and round pick so they get something to show steve. Nash admitted that liberty a great starting player. You could also say that. Oklahoma city thunder wins because they have so many future pick that every trade affects them somehow the thunder on the rights to swap the twenty twenty one. "How about getting paid in bitcoin. We have our very first. Nfl player that wants to be a part of the revolution that wants to be a part of the hype that wants to be part of the future of money. As bitcoin people would tell you. Crypto currency the carolina panthers russell ah kong becomes the first nfl player to be paid in bitcoin and this is exclusively. Bitcoin fifty fifty. Okay and they actually. It's complicated. they had to go to the players. Union see if it was even possible or if it fit within the guidelines of whatever the player agreement is but also. It's not actually bitcoin. Coming directly from the organization to the player. There's a company called zap. And it's a startup. They have a product called strike and away strike works. Is it integrates with your bank account on your end and it integrates with whoever it is. Who's paying your salary. And what strike will do is immediately Create that conversion coming from the payment before going out to you and instead of processing it through the bitcoin network. They essentially front you the money so they can do it faster without the processing required through the network so they're an intermediary there I don't know they're kind of like a bank sort of their payment processor but and so this particular individual is not alone. There's there's been some more secretive athletes doing the same program including unnamed members of the brooklyn nets basketball team. You can probably guess who might be interested in brooklyn nets names like kyrie irving big internet guy. It's possible kevin durant on team as well Players from the new york yankees have begun on boarding to the program and so people are interested in the case of a kung. He'll be split. He distributed Did he do this like himself or do you think it's his like eight or man. No he's a real bitcoin guy and has been for awhile. Yep and Prior he i spoke about wanting to do this in two thousand nineteen but as mentioned was a complex process to get it cleared. Nfl into everybody involved and was into bitcoin. Even prior to that talking about Independence and not being tied to any one. Particular currency actually in enthusiast. Let me just break it down for you one more time. So strike says its processing into the seven figures monthly for volume and. They're not charging any money for that right now but eventually the idea is they would take a small piece right. And that's a tremendous upside if you onboard enough people to the process and it seems like they're attracting high profile individuals who don't want to have to manage those funds or to go straight to bitcoin themselves from their paycheck kind of makes the process easier transfers the bitcoin into cold storage on behalf of the individual. They don't even have to think about it. Touch it they can know that it's secure. It's a really interesting service. And they expected to grow amongst athletes and high profile individuals. We'll see how that goes. But

New York AG files lawsuit to dissolve NRA for "fraud and abuse"

"Here's the specs. The yacht is called illusions at first was I thought it was called the illusion or illusions. It's just called illusions talking heads. It's one hundred and eight feet long. It has a false staff also chef. It has four state rooms I think stay room in this context means bedroom. But I'm not sure whatever they are. Whatever state rooms are illusions has four of them. Illusions is a big enough boat that it comes with other boats and vehicles that ride on top of it. It comes with two jet skis and sixteen foot long jetboat. It's boat that comes with the boat. I do not know my way around a yacht. I do own a row boat but I don't know anything about you. Know the makings of a good state room if I laid down in one for a nautical nap. But I'll tell you for news purposes. You should know that boats that make the news they tend to have a paper trail online, and so I think this might be the boat in question. This might be illusions when you google illusions yacht at least this is the bad boy that pops up and it does have the the hike embedded jet skis and the vote and the fancy bedrooms and all the rest of it. The reason I went on a very pleasurable Internet. Deep dive for this today. Is that some good ship illusions some yacht of that name. has now been cited as evidence in a long long long long list of allegations of fraud and multimillion dollar self-dealing at the NRA at the national, Rifle Association in a lawsuit that was filed today by New York Attorney. General Letitia James The NRA as an organization is chartered in New York. It has been chartered in New York for well over one hundred years. As a New York institution as a New York charitable institution, it has to follow the rules and laws for nonprofits operating in New York. And according to the Attorney General's lawsuit, the longtime president of the NRA Wayne Lapierre often stayed on the illusions yacht without paying for it. Those trips were present from one of the NRA's vendors with Mr Lapierre getting the US you know the chef and the jet skis and presumably all four state rooms for free. What he didn't do was disclose his acceptance of what The New York ag alleges was this very, very expensive gift on the NRA's financial disclosures in that is something that is required by New York state. Law. From the lawsuit quote Mr Peres testimony to the attorney general he said that the reason he failed to disclose the use of the was for security reasons and because he considered the to have been used for legitimate. A legitimate business per best. But wait there's more according to the New York Attorney General Wayne Lapierre spent five hundred thousand dollars of the NRA's money. That's NRA donors right are members providing money to the NRA for its purpose is a nonprofit instead. Up here is taking a half million dollars of that money to spend specifically on private airplane flights to the Bahamas and back for his family at least eight times over just the last three years. The Attorney General says he spent more than thirteen million dollars of the NRA's money on a private travel consultant arranging additional private flights in luxury cars for him and his family. Over the last six years there was also at least one African Safari for Wayne Lapierre and his wife which the says they improperly accepted from another NRA vendor. The AG. Ticks off lots of fancy Christmas gifts for law peers, friends, and family and golf club membership fees and a twelve thousand dollars hotel bill at the four seasons not for weighing up here but for his niece. Over the course of four years, the lawsuit alleges that Wayne Lapierre was reimbursed for more than a million dollars worth of personal expenses straight out of the NRA's coffers. So. Your uncle with the NRA sticker on the back of his pickup. decided to put up there because it shows that he's an NRA member do-or-die he's been dutifully giving them their money. He's been like putting. Lapierre's niece up in the four seasons and flying Wayne in his family back and forth at the Bahamas. That membership money's been going to. The lawsuit filed today is over one hundred, fifty pages. The New York Attorney General Letitia James sets out in fairly stunning detail her case for how the president of the NRA and several of his top lieutenants drained more than sixty four, million dollars out of the NRA for their own personal gain over a very short period of time just over a period of a few years.

Brady: Spinning the QB Carousel

"Brady. And I'll start with this one I just. I would be stunned if he ends up anywhere else. So I'm going to say the CAROUSEL stops and he sticks rate where he is even if he also moved his house and headed out of state. He's not long for New England either way but for another year especially if they end up ponying up phoning up to thirty million or whatever and again the Patriots end it also gives them the opportunity like the colts to draft a quarterback and start developing someone this time though for real. It didn't work out Jimmy G. Because Brady just kept playing but this time they actually would be grooming a young kid for the future Brady stays annoying on who disagrees as who agrees Wi with you hundred percent. Think He. I think he wants to be wanted in. This process might address some of that and then have New England come out in a total pantomine show and say yes. We're going to pay you a a lot. Yes you know. The quote was weapons ad he wants stuff added around him. He doesn't want to be in last year's offense. I think all that New England is the best situation for him for him to seamlessly. Leslie not start over with a new playbook work with Josh mcdaniels and hope that you get it right. Probably the best for the Patriots. Are they really going to do better than him. I think it'd be difficult. I don't buy the talk that he's GonNa the idea that he could make a free agency and this has been on our network to and see what he's worth and then come back. I mean if you're talking about I want more weapons. And he wants the team around him to be good if he gets the the free agency and comes back they have to pay. Whatever Tom Brady is gonNA cost plus thirteen and a half million in dead cap money it makes no sense? I just can't see bill belichick operating like that. I I think the Patriots at some point. We'll have to be. We'll have to say if you reach free agency like we're moving on. They either get the deal done before free agency Z.. Starts or not because otherwise it makes no sense to bring him back plus thirteen million dollars of fake money He Lord knows knows he's earned the benefit of the doubt but I'm still floored by how much benefit the Dow. He's getting compared to other quarters. I agree and people keep mentioning the titans and if here the titans why in the world you've got Ryan Tannehill who you're probably going to keep. Who can escape pressure? Athletic and can hit passes down the field. And you're going to move on from him for the Tom Brady. Who played in two thousand nineteen? I don't see that only the only issue there is that any of the thirty one other owners would would sign up for scenarios like that many cases where Tom Brady changes everything. People think about your team for the next year from a coach angle. I do under like if the this is one where the insiders don't have a good read on it kind of like Peyton manning back in the day because it's such a big deal but if you believe that the insiders had a read on it really feels it's just chargers or patriots that there that there's not gonna be the level of interest by any other team and even that the chargers feel like it pretty big underdog in that scenario
