"Welcome back to behind the numbers. I'm Dave bookbinder. And today we're talking about strategic networking with Glenn Crooks Glenn I segment and get a chance to ask you how people contact you so. Let me correct that mistake right now and make sure people know how they can reach you if they want to learn more about you how to work with you sure My email addresses Glenna at clinical dot com. Or you can. Google May and that will take you to my website and telephone number and email address for contacts. Well sounds good lot of ground covered in the first segment and I wish we could spend time here for two hours but we can't so let's try and cover as much as we can here in the second segment. I WANNA to talk first. We'll call it the practical applications of what you described in the first segment. Can you dive into that a little bit? Yeah I have a three step process that I call act sage so The first step is to become aware of everybody who was in your networks now. Currently I have some paper and Pencil ways that I can offer people to help do that and even that step has been enlightening for everyone. That's the step where they do find out that there's somebody important in their one of their networks who might be missing. And then they used their networking skills to find that person right so it could be somebody a childcare. It could be somebody for healthcare. It could be looking for a good trainer at a Gym. And so you connect with your friends to find the kind of trainer that you want to find. That's that's the first step. The second step then is to clarify what it is you want and need. What are you trying to accomplish now for some people? That's just make my life simpler but when I did this. I wanted to make my life simpler. I looked at everybody I was connected with and I made a list of all the people that I had to personally engage with. If I'm going to alter my clothes I've got to show up at the at the Taylor but there's another list of people. I don't actually have to manage myself. I don't take close to the dry cleaners. I don't have to pick them up. I don't have to stand in line at a at a post office. I don't grocery shop so I took that. Listen I created a job description and I networked with friends and I found somebody to help me out a college student who needed a part time job and needed to be flexible. I could be flexible. She removed all of that activity for me gave me an additional day in the garden every week. Which is where I do my best thinking so. It's clarifying that and doing this the next step. Which is that how you're going to change your life. This is probably the hardest thing for people to understand. They asked me all the time. What do you tell people to do? I don't tell them to do anything I don't have to. This is data. People have never seen about their own life and when they see it. It's a big reveal and they instantly see changes that they wanna make and so there's that whole kind of burst clear. The decks organized this in my own life. Now I have a sense of it and then they go on to build on top of that. In some cases it's more time with family in in other people's lives. It's more time for their career. But everybody uses the data in a way that optimizes whatever their personal checkups are. And I know you've done a ton of research and analyzed a lot of data. Is there an example that you might be able to share with the audience in near experiences? About where an existing network you'd one result but in rebuilding it so to speak. In retrospect what the outcome might have been health. Things might have been different. I'm GonNa tell my favorite story and it's about my mom. You know what they say about. How the shoemaker's kids don't have shoes. I never thought to apply this to my mom's life. She lives a thousand miles away. And although my brother and sister live nearby and that's a great comfort to me. They also travel a lot so my mom got sick and my brother and sister-in-law out of the country had no way to reach them and I- navigated from here with the telephone number for only one neighbor. No I'm happy to say that she recovered. But then I corrected mine mistake and gathered information about everyone in my mom. Mom's networks. We found three. That were sub optimal and one for example. She was her social network. She had really good friends but it was a small network so suggested that she joined a singles club which she did. And that was a good thing because Within several months of that three of those four best friends announced they were relocating to live near their adult children so that was a lot of her intimate networks. She lost overnight practically bud. She had new friends. She was meeting in the singles club and that was really important. Because it's an older person we know she's likely to be a lonely and loneliness has more consequential to your health than alcohol. Obesity or smoking thirteen cigarettes a day. Now here's the upshot. When my mom recovered from this illness there were people who thought she should go to assisted living. She didn't want to because we found these three networks that needed to be optimized. And she did. She also needed a trainer by the way she needed to regain strength so she joined a gym trainer. It's now several years later. We have probably saved her well over. Two hundred thousand dollars insisted living in addition to that she was becoming a frequent flyer in the ER and any minor symptoms and she was dialing nine one one. We'd probably save Medicare more than fifty thousand dollars in any our bills so that probably my favorite story and it's the kind of thing that I would encourage all of us adult children. And especially if where workforce that have jobs and especially if we're one of the forty percent of Americans who live more than seven hundred miles away from our family that we gather that information at have that available now if I call my mom and I can't reach her. I know six neighbors I can call and they run across the street and they can find out if she's Ok they you know and I can. I can build relationships with them so that we are all jointly taking care of one another even though I'm a thousand miles away and sometimes it's only by phone or by email. Tell us who are you? Typically serving clients what do they look like by? Clients can be individuals but they can also be companies and not only large companies but small companies. One of my firms was a small NICI firm myself and I'm very keen on helping those people who are entrepreneurs and small businesses. Because you know if one of US goes down because we've got a family emergency or household emergency that could well be a third to a quarter of our workforce so keeping everyone engaged and on the job has significant returns and that's ultimately what I'd like to do is to help people optimize the human capital that they have available to them to themselves within their networks so that then they can remain contributing members in their career or in their community. Is there a single piece of advice that you could offer the folks watching and listening as to if they wanted to get intentional? Starting today one thing that they might do to start thinking about their network differently than maybe they have in the past. I would say that when the day wraps up Many people think about what they've done what they've accomplished and whether that's matched up with the intention that they had for their day. I would say take a couple of days during the week and day or so on the weekend and as you're doing that match that up with all of the people that you had to engage with an order to accomplish that you know sometimes that's getting the shoes on the kids and out the door and sometimes that's coordinating a multidisciplinary team in our workforce on the job. Whatever that is become aware get to know that become mindful about the people who are in your life. Yeah mindful of the people in your life is The rate there because we kind of go through our day on autopilot and don't really fully appreciate that. Yeah and my research has shown that it's far more complicated than we know. We're we're interacting with a lot more people than we realise There is a limit to how many people we can engage with. Well that's called Dunbar's number. One hundred fifty children exceed that by first grade. And and what we'd be looking for are those patterns that perhaps fallen into mindlessly. So where is it that we're being encouraged by people or discouraged by people? Here's the other thing this is. Here's a little bit more if you once you understand that another thing to look at every network has central grabbing a learner's playing tennis if I played with a better player my game was better. Well the same thing is true every other part of your life so wherever you know whatever network you're an Start taking a look at. Where do you fit because if there are people in that network who have a higher center of gravity then you? They're more skilled patient. Whatever the characteristic is they'll pull you up and you and you will become more like them on the other hand. There are people who have a lower center of gravity. They will pull you down so understanding where you fit. You know the idea being if you WANNA learn something friend up. Yeah you're the average of the five people hang out with most right. Yeah you'll never make more money than the average of your five best friends go. We've about sixty seconds left but one make sure that you tell people how they can get your book. Tell us a little bit about where they can find it okay The book is the network. Sage realize your network superpower and it's available on Amazon and Barnes and noble dot com both in kindle versions electronic versions and print as well and it will take away from that book a lot of really great stories. And here's what else people tell me is that it's a gentle book in the sense that they feel like. I become their friend and I'm holding their hand on this journey. That was intentional. On my part this material can be a little overwhelming and since my goal is to reduce overwhelm. I wanted to make it easy for people to feel like they could go on this journey with a friend. Yeah and it will tell you as somebody who's read the book of the images were just mind blowing when you start to think about the map of what networks. Look like my. My head probably exploded a few times in reading it. Just really interesting stuff so thanks so much for joining us today on behind the numbers really appreciate you being here. Well thank you very much today. We've been talking about.

"Six eight what week what a week we had we had the house Judiciary Committee voted in the two articles of impeachment of trunk of use of power and obstruction of Congress all in all a long a very bitter bitter bitter party lines of a vote the full house is gonna vote in on Wednesday I think and then it goes to the Senate there's no chance of conviction the Senate but again it'll be party line vote the house of I think of some numbers and some members of the house will vote against it but the vast majority will vote for it it'll pass the other second thing is that the FBI report came out in the in the investigation of of the links between the trump campaign in Russia and the Faisal FISA court and there's something in there for everything for the for the Democrats the investigations of the results report said that the investigation was justified there was no bias against of of the trump in the FBI there was no specific no examples of spying on the campaign either electronically or by in person people of being planted there on for the Democrats there's numerous failures in the procedures by the FBI staff of particulars relates to Carter page and reliance on the the US steel dossier although they said that the investigation was ongoing before the still dossier anyway those two things came up we also want to talk about mega star with mark in Baltimore talk about the couple things number one the the carnage in New Jersey and now this one in Atlanta just does it ever end so let's let's go to mark in Baltimore mark welcome to the show yes good evening sure vocal about about one region although this is a happy Hanukkah which starts next week on Sunday evening this number twenty four in the evening is it a press the go through Monday during the day December th thirty of we have in the Jewish community here and elsewhere or rather a very green the what happened up in Jersey city absolutely we have a question I have a few questions to try blues and if anyone we know there was a shooting at a cemetery early we don't even know how for the cemetery was away from the Jewish deli and we don't know which was weird yeah because a policeman office there was killed do we know how that came about I don't know I know the only thing is that I had heard was that that these two I've the column shooters I think that's bad that they're killers are not shooters is kind of in the name but nine term though there are killers and those two killers apparently were also implicated on a kill of the killing of an uber driver the day before a couple of days before I haven't heard anything about it not the not a cemetery to the point of the matter is these two guys apparently we're targeting this Jewish up dressed up store Sabah market and you know just I don't know much more about it than that mark clearly there closely tied to the Jewish community by somebody although that will be a star this may really to know and very rarely do I watch television but I have to be somewhere Tuesday night downtown waiting for me to the store and I was watching him on TV the news and it showed a one hour guns one hour going far between these two pieces of yeah and the and the swat team where did the what and what actually one of the one we can't sit two guys it was a woman one man I don't you know I think they were to this I think that was that was two men a criminal about those my understand was two men but one or the other it was too short whatever whether they get all those weapons and bullets one hour this is unusual I have no clue I mean it you know one of my head and they are fifteen so that you know this was this was a war zone and I have no and and it wasn't just the the the police who had the the swat team that had the A. R. fifteen rifles one of the weapons of one of these shooter said was a there are fifty I have no clue how they got it but you know apparently they they could get them legally just I have no idea how to get him I truly don't I understand the one other thing I did want to make mention as well as what was interesting was strange one of the call was for those from Michigan made an error of thinking that at first when the first reports came out of the carnage that there there were white nationalists involved sand and she realized she made a mistake when I found when it was revealed with African American said this was a congressman totally yeah yeah I have no I don't know what you know they open to you know I thought it was very strange coming you know but anyway yeah I just want to say by the way we're not done I would I want to ask you what's going on in Israel this is gonna have to have another vote because the neither of that Yahoo or Netanyahu or the water is dirty Gantz could form a government so you got another vote coming up and what is real I was told that a vote could take place I think in March yeah that's what I it will probably be I don't know will probably be after a Jewish holiday apartment I was master the most on our day yeah I I mean it's on president all around I don't I don't know how many chances do you need a lot how many times the legal action that even try to get a government form the gentleman I have no idea it's just neither of your visits because betting yet Netanyahu couldn't form a government get sixty one seats in the in the Knesset then burning again so that it pronounce that he couldn't get it again yeah and then they then they open it up to say anybody else who want who think they can do it give it a shot nobody could so now they get another vote I think that's just how can you run a government how can there be a government when you know nobody can make laws that's just I have no idea we have a very unique parliamentary no yeah which means is expired you put twenty Israelis and really get twenty one opinion I can't answer that question I do I would urge that again in the Lexington schedule but I think people are tired of elections because a lot of money to put a lot together yeah really so this is joining the ache economy because most of the money and fortunate to have to go to what's offensive to get obviously understand so I have no idea just anyway it's it's I saw that this last week that that the the president basically said we got another vote another election because at the end what from what Lee the I read the Wall Street journal which is that's neutral of United people not great but it's a pretty neutral organ all of the the the the opinion page but that that's good sound right reporting and they basically said that data there's not a real lot lot of optimism that the next election will be any different that either party will get the collect coalition be able to form a coalition to to follow the guide I do know for fact is neither party wants to work with the members of the Knesset because the Knesset four hundred twenty six the absent from one thirteen cigarettes over ten baset woods on presidential and they do not want it need it will parties wanted to go shave we've all been there yeah and therefore which is a key part I thought I don't know what is going to be yeah because the other part of the problem was that that that the blue and white party won't even negotiate with the the Likud party as long as Netanyahu's a trail of that and he can't risk losing it because if he doesn't get indicted so that's what I mean I know how that works I do simply wanted safe from I do want to end on a happy note that's all I can say on that and I just simply want to say made made to members of the people that was slain than Joe see health will be remembered for blessing yes says hello yes and and the other thing is is is is hopefully the ravens can keep going on keep on winning thanks mark with the ship thank you hide in exile but all right well guess what the lines are open like his mother people's thoughts on impeachment on the F. B. I. report another big thing I gotta tell ya just describes the daylights out of me is first of all that bad credit turn Berg the Swedish girl that six year old Swedish girl was was named person of the year by time magazine for her work advocating for climate change and trump mocked her I mean it's cyber bullying at its worst and not only that that's not a surprise but what to me what really great me was the fact that melania trump the the president's wife her big thing supposedly was a campaign against cyber bullying and yet the number one site be cyber bully namely her husband she doesn't say anything when he bullies this young lady because she became the first of the year of the year and he was also considered and he didn't get it and apparently he's perturbed that he didn't get it and she did and he's mad and he takes it out on her side I tell ya I'm not a big fan of the first really not a big fan of the president but I've also not not a fan of all of the First Lady I mean talk about hypocrite cheese proposes the proposed promotes this thing except when it affects the cyber bull you're number one name her husband nothing I can say about her is that you know he makes a point of always wearing a different outfit every time she's she does the one thing she does frequently which is walk back and forth between the helicopter that White House on our way to to from Mar log and Florida so anyway I just like it some of us about her another thing that that well all this bad news for trump is come out it's too it's too bad because there's actually some really great really had so he in one way he had a really good week he got finally with agreement of the Democrats that he'll take full credit for it but with a grimace of the Democrats who got the the the new nafta Adam what's called the basically the US Canada Mexico treat treat three trade deal through and it's as one person said it's it's ninety percent after but it's the other ten percent is a significant improvement in certain areas so that's certainly a positive from the transfer prints for spectators secondly the US China trade agreement went through or he says it did although I gotta tell you there is something some PS involved in that in that the trump campaign they said and that they're quoting that that the church you should US says the China will by fifty billion dollars a year in agriculture well let me tell you a secret the highest amount of agriculture that the the China has bought from the U. S. was in two thousand seventeen and that was twenty three billion twenty three billion in in in then a couple of things have happened since the number one the Chinese economy slowed down so they're not buying as much secondly at least in terms of of of soybeans and corn and secondly the Chinese have found other suppliers particularly Brazil and I think Australia so this year they bought three billion as opposed to twenty three billion two years ago before please try these these tests in place so he got he got it went from twenty three down to about three now he's claiming that they're gonna buy fifty even though of there are other suppliers of stepped into the breach to provide for them so anyway I got a real question has there been a trade deal yes does it have some good things in it yes but I gotta tell ya the until you see it in writing and see that that of course is another side of that which we can get into if you want namely the issue of of trump gives twenty six billion dollars in aid to the farmers because in his truck of his chair of deal and then he turns around and they just decided last week's paper that he's cutting seven hundred thousand people off of the the of the of food stamps because excess cording closely sales a five billion dollars he gets twenty six the billion away because of his trade jail of his terrace rather is a well I'm gonna say five of that by cutting off the poor anyway the gifts it's not something that pleases me a lot of weird we'll take a break or what will take of we go take a break we'll come back we'll talk about the the Augusta from not from among we'll talk to Bob will talk about the time magazine thing anyway well back in the Tom more short for one.

As far as I'm concerned we talked about this and I thought it was already discussed in the mainstream media. No two three weeks ago now but now I realize it's only was discussed on our show. Apparently yes and we have a giving vigny trouble with some watching some of the news. 'cause I'm watching this thinking this isn't news. Yeah we all knew that vitamin E ACETATE was the culprit. Here they did mention as tickner reckoner discussing Also also that it was purely in the THC cartridges and our research. We went directly leads to the source and I went to Justin the drug dealer. which any news outfit could have done? But no they're not they're not because they're all complicit in ruining ruining the vaping industry. So that Philip Morris and what's that other company Fake name who that was used to be American Tobacco who bought jewel just to kill. The vaping industry wanted to bring in their heated tobacco. And there's an additional reason. You were talking earlier about Michael Bloomberg. All the Anti Jewel adds that his name is on it and I would like to know does Michael Bloomberg. I'm sure he does uh-huh I wonder what kind of position he has in tobacco stocks. I wonder if he has any position in that California in particular. It has a huge problem with people stopping smoking. I know this sounds weird. But they have a huge problem with people stopping smoking and moving to vaporize nicotine inhalation which I do and I don't smoke tobacco anymore and I have not died yet because I'm not falling for the stupid. I did my own research and I went to the drug dealers and I got the true story and here. It is being confirmed This is a From a Youtube Channel called Truth About vaping of this is Almost five years old this little piece of the clip that I'm pulling for for you so see little over-simplified you know it's one of these animated things but specifically in California but also in other states. There's a a big reason. The states themselves do not want tobacco companies selling less tobacco products. Because you don't get a very specific benefit as state when it comes to nicotine problem number one the more money big tobacco makes the more money. California gets in one thousand nine hundred eighty eight. A deal was struck between the biggest big big tobacco companies and forty six s stakes called the master settlement agreement or MSN. This agreement said that these big tobacco companies would make nearly payment to the states. Aides in exchange for the state's dropping lawsuits against them regarding smoking related deaths expenses. The amount of money big tobacco pays the states. Each year is directly dependent dependent on how much they sell problem number two. The state spent that money before they got it. Most of the states wanted all that money up front instead of waiting for payments from big tobacco each year so they sold bonds to Wall Street based on the amount they calculated big tobacco would be paying them but then something started happening. American American started smoking less New Jersey. Ohio and Virginia have already announced they have to take money from their reserves due to insufficient funds from the tobacco money and with the growing popularity of e cigarettes the smoking rate is declining. Even Faster California and New York are being affected the most because they have the highest populations and are road the most money by Big Tobacco under this agreement in two thousand thirteen. Cigarette shipments saw their biggest decline since two thousand nine and many financial analysts say the cause of that severe declined is so the truth. The state of California needs tobacco sales to stay high otherwise default on their bonds e cigarettes are getting in the way of it. Looks like the health of the public isn't the top priority for the Department of Public Health. Their top priority. Their wallet obviously propaganda pro vaping being video but the data is refuting irrefutable. And I don't know how much money this is. I'm sure we can figure this out. But this master settlement agreement was a big big deal though you look that up and find out is. I'm sure it's a lot. Yeah so there's everyone's against people actually stopped smoking tobacco and so they're all judy about this. I quattro thing that money. Yeah Yeah it's all about expect lung cancer Schmeltzer. I mean what's your problem. Long strong get out of here is great. Well that was a nice find but of course none of it should be surprising. Well no it's states like California New Yorker probably the Max corrupt states totally. Yeah it's like yeah I was listening to one of the financial shows In there were discussing you know. Trump's moving taking his residency to Florida where there's no personal income tax tax write but New York State of California. Does the same thing New York State Senate okay you can say you're a Florida resident but if you you know but if you wrote doing any business here on your best average year but in the past they're gonna go after he anyway it would take him probably five six years. I know a guy who did did this T- I know a couple of people. Actually that they've decided they didn't want their sick of paying California personal income tax which is pretty high. It's like ten percent or higher and they moved just across the border. He moved in Nevada. There's no personal income tax of adding you can go back and forth but date type dog Let's see how many days have been coming across. You're doing any business you making a phone call. You're hanging one of our towers. It's interesting you you mentioned that I had an LLC. Ten years ago in California Things Zulu APPs and it it it was dormant mm-hmm and I closed it and it never no money ever ran through it this year. I got the California Tax Board sent me a bill for over one thousand dollar saying at home tax and now I have to go fight. These jokes let me know. What do you mean no you tell you right now? You'RE GONNA lose that you have to pay but what just happened to us. So what am I gonNa have like an well. We had an employee wants and is years ago and then all of a sudden day. Irs she started the blue they ding us for some back. You know so security. This is for twenty two thousand eighteen. This is yes ridiculous but I haven't lived there in almost ten years. A company pay screwed. You don't WanNa pay but we were advised that we should just pay holy crap or should racket. That's crazy GONNA do well. I've just got to be some legal eagle way to stop this. It's GONNA cost you more legal fees than paying. You're kidding so they're just they're just looking at my federal tax return I guess somehow and saying oh well apiece that's gotta be ours probably will die Die California die and the only speak big states New York Newark. New York's probably worse because especially in New York City because in New York you have a state income tax and in New York City. You have a city income Tanno. I know it's nuts late as anybody put up with this. Yeah bad Sir Ben Rose just said perfectly let this be a lesson never live in California. Yeah I agree. I can't believe that you are you of all people who knows how to fight the system on these kinds of things his actually telling me to give up. Yeah so dollars a lot of money. I'm just telling you I know when to give up you. Maybe you can fight right a protest at least write a letter and see if you can get it straightened out. But we're going to bring you know otherwise you're going to know and we say it that way we we give them a call and be nice. Be Charming so so I have A. I have a clip. This a kind of clipped at mainstream media reason I listened to democracy. You now is because occasionally they have a gym and this is a very short. It usually go on and on really link at length of some of this. This is a little short clip. I got the biggest kick out of this because they had a video to go along with and I'll explain the video after we play this clip. This is the Glenn Greenwald Clip. Meanwhile a far right Brazilian journalist. I tried to punch Pulitzer Prize. Winning journalist Co founder of the intercept Glenn Greenwald after a heated argument during the live taping of a radio show the far right journalist Augusta newness had previously made insulting comments about Greenwald's family. All right okay. So so. They had the video clip of these guys. Talking this talk show Greenwald. See now I want you to do the following kind of this kind of like doing a play like a WHO acting acting. FBI actor so what is your face facing somebody career. I gotta get into somebody during your head completely to to the left as far as you can't put your hands about a foot in front of your face and then make a dog paddling motion fast as you can. That's what he was doing. That's kind of a fight broke out between these two guys was was this a hissy fight. This kind of what look glycol. My goodness take kind of a swing at him. And he ludicrous and then what a what a green world raft of that he did he fight back that he's no he's duck and the dog panel thing so wake Glenn Greenwald was doing the dog paddle. Yeah pretty much I gotta see this cliff. uh-huh yeah he's he's he's not as Comedians. I make it sound but it is pretty funny. I think those things are always funny to watch especially is on the radio show. It makes even better well. I don't know what the camera was doing on the radio. Show is one of those things where everyone had you know like. Everybody has a camera on him all the time. You know that is we. We don't do that. "Thousand nine hundred eighty eight.
