Harvard Professors Unite to Protect Free Speech!

"The good news that I've reported to you over 100 Harvard professors have started a group to protect free speech. One final. Two final sentences here that are very interesting. One of his fellow co presidents philosophy professor Ned hall, that is president of this new council. Said the council quote is resolutely nonpartisan. It pulls members from across the political aisle. Some people will read the expression of academic freedom as code for right-wing, but it simply not. Isn't that interesting? That when you have the words free expression, it is assumed to be right wing, even by people on the left. Isn't that a compliment to the right wing? According to fire survey, only 14% of students would feel very comfortable expressing contra controversial views with peers. And three quarters of students are at least somewhat worried about reputation damage. If they express an unpopular opinion.

Dick Morris Analyzes This Moment of Existential Crisis for America

"That we're talking about a president of the United States behaving in a way that is treasonous, this is unprecedented. This is absolutely, this is a moment of existential crisis for the United States of America. Yes. It is. Even if the election hadn't been stolen, it certainly is. And what we need to do now is to understand what China got. We know now that they gave, what did they get? And what did they get? I mean, let's talk about it. We're speculating, but I would put high on the list. The fact that nominally to appease the green movement, the entire American economy has been slowed down and China's accelerated because they don't have any restrictions for global warming at all. And we have a ton of them. Who is the architect of this satanic schemes? We know that bumbling Joe Biden is not it. He's a puppet for other people. Who is behind this? Well, I believe that you go back to dinesh d'souza's theory about the roots of Obama's rage. Where he basically says that Obama sees the world not in terms of U.S. versus the east or freedom versus communism. He sees it in terms of colonialism. That is the domination of three quarters of the world by one quarter. And anything that evens up those odds that lowers the power of the one quarter and raises the power of the other three quarters in his view is just wise and acceptable. And that's really where you have to look for. So you believe that Obama and company are behind what's really happening. Oh, yes. Yes, absolutely. That's why that's why Susan, that's why Powell exists.

Rep. Scott Perry: Biden Has Maxed Out His Credit Limit

"We have reached our credit card limit and of course president Biden with the normal Obama kind of viewpoint thinks that we should just increase the credit card limit and just keep spending us into oblivion on things that we don't need. You know, I don't know whether you know this or your listeners know this, but during COVID and stimulus, we spent three quarters of a $1 billion for prisoners for prisoners for their stimulus. I mean, that's the kind of crazy stuff that, you know, it shouldn't even be discussed in Washington yet D.C. yet this guy and The White House says he's not going to negotiate. Well, if he wants to default and if he wants to crash the markets, it'll be his business because I think that we have, look, we should not celebrate this time. We should not celebrate the fact that we've got this debt ceiling raise, you know, essentially paying the bill for what has already been spent by the left. But if we can get these systemic foundational changes, especially the mandatory programs, including the spending caps, we'll get a $1 trillion out of the first year and savings. And four and a half $1 trillion over ten. Now, you never count on what happens in the out years. I know we've been burned plenty of times on that before. But with a $1 trillion in the first year and knowing that the appropriations process is right behind the debt ceiling vote, we have the opportunity finally as Republicans to drive the cost curve down and bring this thing back into balance. Now inflows is the story in this most recent quarter. Tell us what to turn that around. Yes, we pleased result report for the third quarter we have seen inflows of 7.7 billion within the third quarter. It's of course with the backdrop of a difficult market environment that we're operating in and we continue to operate in. So very much driven by cash inflows in the third quarter. We saw outflows previously, we had seen those come back almost entirely nearly 18 billion of cash inflows. But outside of that, we look very much at the diversification across the asset classes and where else we can kind of draw in that income. And in addition to cash, we've also seen inflows in alternatives with continued to see consecutively actually for each quarter in 2022 with an inflows in alternatives across real estate across liquid real assets and previously also across infrastructure. So a good result for the third quarter, we're very pleased to report that cash continues to be very volatile, we've seen that come back in the third quarter, but really consecutively we're seeing strong inflows from alternatives as well. And that's what we very mindful of because that's very supportive, of course, in our management fee margin and in supporting revenues. "You can with the minimum of ten K, investors have access to funds. You know, that have a pretty stable kind of return cycle. Anything we can do to use technology to broaden access to investments and financial tools that were previously only for the super wealthy is great. If you've ever had no money, the bank treats you like gum underneath their shoe, and then you have some money and then the nicer to you. And if you have more money, they're like, Alex come in. And that dynamic is ever pissed you off. Technology can't help kind of flatten things more quickly, which I'm excited about. But Natasha, did you just say expensive NFTs cost thousands of dollars? I did. This is my biggest issue with them. Is the issue that you're off by a factor of a thousand? Because they cost millions of dollars. Okay, fair. That's so true. I mean, I feel like that is what we're overwhelm by. Like on Twitter, that's what pops off. But you were a really good piece this week about low cost NFTs. I haven't seen one. So where are these? I've made two NFTs and they're both low cost because no one else wants them. NFTs are neat, I think. I think it's cool to see innovation and people playing around technology, having a good time, enjoying themselves. Well, I don't like as much are the endless we are going to make it. They're not going to make it kind of like tribalism from the crypto kiddos. Calm down. I know. I think it's actually like a unintentional slash intentional tactic to overwhelm people from ever trying to understand crypto. Which is so backwards because if you're a crypto believer, you should be really rolling out the carbon and being patient. But there's no one in my life who is less patient with me than people who are big into crypto and disagree with me about a thing. And yes, I am subtweeting Bitcoin maximalists there entirely. AFT's are cool because they're a neat way to think about art and music and so forth in a digital context, I'm always here for that..

"They have raised 8 $7 million fund for climate tech startups they plan to raise a $20 million fund. Overall, and this is the first time I've ever seen a PR firm get into investing in their clients. What did you think when you saw the news? Because I wrote about it, I want to just hear your thoughts first. But I just did was very rudely stopped paying attention and went to my inbox and just search for VSC. Yes. Turns out I do know them. It turns out they've sent me a few emails. My first thought is, I love it. Because if you're going to do a lot of the work, or are these a trunk of the work of helping a startup, establish its brand and build its mind share and grow market share and really just develop as a company, why do you only want a fee for your labor? Everyone wants ownership. And so why not tie in some capital from an external fund? And then you have a little bit of the upside. You have a tighter relationship. I mean, people always talk about aligned incentives. And then people always complain about how their PR firms incentives aren't aligned with theirs. Well, good. Here's some stuff. Align those incentives. Let's just put the chips in the same direction, right? 7 million isn't the world's biggest fun. That sounds like a trial number to me. We have some capital from folks who know, see how this goes. But the PR firm, if VIC is good at picking the right clients and they're discerning enough to make the right selections, why not write a check as well? To me, now that I've heard this, I'm shocked we haven't seen more of this already. If that makes sense? Yeah, that's the thing that's getting me is like it both feels warranted because we talk about media and VC so much, but it also feels unprecedented because we don't see PR firms try and turn their clients into portfolio companies..

"You shredding, scratching and strumming. Alex tell us what this is sort of is all about. If you're worried about shredding scratching and strumming, don't worry, this is about music. Mike is a band that you put around your wrist as far as I can tell it costs. I think a $119 according to its website. And it tracks your motion and converts that into music. And in their little hide video, they show a person playing piano on one hand, but air piano and then the Nick ticker mic take can kind of tell your hand is and create piano sounds based on where your hand would be on a keyboard. They showed another video of someone using their hand to strum a cello again an air cello. And so what they've done is built a piece of hardware that turns you the end user into a multi instrumentalist. And to me, as someone who grew up playing music and someone who occasionally planks on the piano in his house, poorly. This is awesome, because one thing that's bad about music is the on ramp to accessibility in terms of playing music. Most people listen to music, right? But actually play it. It is pretty tough. And it's not very interactive. Music tends to be a little bit static. It's like podcast, and you kind of sit and you listen, I'm curious the Natasha to how well this works in the real world versus in the hype video. Totally. I mean, I do recommend everyone who's interested in the startup to watch the video because I think that's where it clicked for both of us. But yeah, I feel like my big question was like, it doesn't feel like the kind of company you would use to learn how to play piano. And it doesn't feel like the kind of company you turn to if you're an expert and love the craft so much that you have a piano in your house. So it feels like the middle and I don't know who the middle is.

"Hello and welcome back to equity, a podcast about the business of startups where we unpack the numbers and nuance behind the headlines. My name is Alex and I'm joined today by my colleague in arms Natasha masculine. Hello, how are you and why is it too cold in this world? It is too cold in this world, but it's the volley, so there is. Lights all over my apartment and I am so happy to finally be celebrating a holiday. Look, any excuse to light candles is a jam with me because I'm an enormous fan of scented candles. I like raspberries into candles. I like rose into candles. Evergreens sent to space for everything that's really good. I'm big on it. But briefly before we jump into the tech stuff, for folks who don't know, tell us what dwell he is. Yeah, a lot of people know it as the festival of lights. I think the part of it that's really inspiring is it's a celebration of triumphing darkness with light. So it's a lot of joy, India goes hard for it, but in the U.S., marketing efforts have become super mainstream like Costco is selling blood due boxes, which is just like sweets. And it's kind of crazy to see how far we've come since I've grew up and you know, it was a very small celebration in the courtyard neighborhood. No, I'm super high. This is one of the best parts of living in America, frankly, it's just like because there's so many folks here from Sony places and some different cultures. We get to kind of have a sampling of everything. And I'm into it..

"<Speech_Female> In general i think <Speech_Female> wage growth has been <Speech_Female> pretty <Speech_Female> minimal <Speech_Female> for a long <Speech_Female> time which is why <Speech_Female> eat out. These rents <Speech_Female> are harder <Speech_Female> for people to reach <Speech_Female> <Speech_Female> You know we're <Speech_Female> talking about people spending <Speech_Female> what over <Speech_Female> a third of their income in <Speech_Female> rent. That's <Speech_Female> typically <SpeakerChange> not sustainable <Speech_Male> from his people <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> and so <Speech_Male> we'll we'll see what <Speech_Male> happens. But i think <Speech_Male> at the end of the day <Speech_Male> i think we're going <Speech_Male> to find <Speech_Male> is that <Speech_Male> this is going to be <Speech_Male> a record setting here <Speech_Male> you know <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> and <Speech_Male> and you <Speech_Male> know we'll see <Speech_Male> how that how <Speech_Male> that equates into next <Speech_Male> year the one thing <Speech_Male> about. Oh that's <Speech_Male> pretty interesting. Right now <Speech_Male> is that we are <Speech_Male> getting more <Speech_Male> high <Speech_Male> quality job growth <Speech_Male> and <Speech_Male> that's going to drive <Speech_Male> rents to and <Speech_Male> the biotech. <Speech_Male> That's being built <Speech_Male> downtown. <Speech_Male> That's going to be an <Speech_Male> interesting thing to see <Speech_Male> and <Speech_Male> really drive <Speech_Male> those <Speech_Male> those downtown <Speech_Male> areas. And the <Speech_Male> periphery <SpeakerChange> areas. <Speech_Female> <Speech_Female> So <Speech_Female> it'll be interesting <Speech_Female> to see. What type of job <Speech_Female> goes you know san diego <Speech_Female> again. It's is <Speech_Female> only two hours from <Speech_Female> los angeles. It's <Speech_Female> a very still <Speech_Female> somewhat <Speech_Female> affordable area <Speech_Female> until then compared <Speech_Female> to orange county in l. <Speech_Male> a. <SpeakerChange> So <Speech_Male> we've <Speech_Male> got a lot of people <Speech_Male> come from san francisco. <Speech_Male> I mean a lot. <Speech_Male> I have <Speech_Male> a client right. <Speech_Male> Now that <Speech_Male> you know was <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> a <Speech_Male> longtime <Speech_Male> san francisco <Speech_Male> investor and still is <Speech_Male> keeping the san <Speech_Male> francisco assets that <Speech_Male> he has. but he's <Speech_Male> divesting <Speech_Male> and relocating. I mean that's <Speech_Male> i don't <Speech_Male> know what number that is <Speech_Male> of someone from san <Speech_Male> francisco. That's coming down <Speech_Male> here now. <Speech_Male> But it's it's a lot <Speech_Male> and <Speech_Male> so we're seeing more and <Speech_Male> more that same with <Speech_Male> l. a. We're seeing <Speech_Male> kind of a big migration <Speech_Male> out of la to <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> and hopefully <Speech_Male> the <Speech_Male> the los angeles <Speech_Male> and san francisco type <Speech_Male> jobs hit this market. <Speech_Male> You know <Speech_Male> and if <Speech_Male> that happens. I think <Speech_Male> that's. That's great <Speech_Male> for for the city. <Speech_Male> Great for the economy. <Speech_Male> So we're <Speech_Male> gonna continue to track. <Speech_Male> This <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> will report <Speech_Male> on that fourth quarter <Speech_Male> of the year end here <Speech_Male> when when that <Speech_Male> ends in january <Speech_Male> and we close out the <Speech_Male> year but <Speech_Male> the direction <Speech_Male> <Advertisement> that things are going. It <Speech_Male> <Advertisement> looks like we're gonna you <Speech_Male> <Advertisement> know we've had this <Speech_Male> <Advertisement> massive <Speech_Male> <Advertisement> record breaking year <Speech_Male> even through <Speech_Male> all of the things <Speech_Male> that have been going on and now <Speech_Male> we're seeing a little bit <Speech_Male> of a slow down <Speech_Male> which <Speech_Male> is kind <Speech_Male> of normal for this time of <Speech_Male> year. The question <Speech_Male> is how long <Speech_Male> and how far <Speech_Male> does that dip go. <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> So thanks <Speech_Male> for listening today. <Speech_Male> And we'll continue to track <Speech_Male> this and <Speech_Male> <Advertisement> keep you updated <Speech_Music_Male> <Advertisement> on any new information <Speech_Music_Male> <Advertisement> that we get <SpeakerChange> <Speech_Music_Male> <Advertisement> this. So the question becomes is that sustainable right and is that a good thing now. National city was one of those areas that was really hot in the south and that would be considered like one of san diego's more affordable areas. And that only rose. Five point five percent over the month of october so that area which was like an area that was attracting a lot of people that starting to slow as well so when you look at these areas that north county the fifteen corridor north county coastal the beach areas. I mean it's been pretty crazy it has and it's unsustainable in rents are already incredibly incredibly high so i think that to have a little bit of a slow down a little bit of a readjustment seems pretty reasonable. I don't think it necessarily mean very much to be completely honest. I feel like we're still in a hot rental market and things are still flying off the shelves faster than faster than they probably ever have and ice. We still get calls daily for people that are like can we get on weightless. What's the process to. How do you apply for an apartment. That's even there. And i have great credit. I mean i- i- filter still many calls like that. 'cause i mean some of the highlights to yeah it's crazy and some of the highlights. I mean something to think about so this is from again that coast are and they're tracking net absorption too and that's basically a change in occupancy right absorption for those of you that are familiar with the real estate lingo is basically you know what when empty and what got least right and so so the net. Absorption is about ten thousand two hundred units which has led to record low vacancy rate. Two point two percent. It's a two point to stabilize..
