"And oh my dear friends, we must turn back to God. We must come back to Almighty God through faith in Jesus Christ apart from whom there is no salvation. Jesus is the saviour of the world. The Lord Jesus Christ is the deliverer from sin. I read these words from John's Gospel chapter 2. Jesus said, destroy this temple and in three days I will raise it up. And the Jews of Jesus Day thought He was talking about the Jewish temple. But Jesus, Jesus was talking about His own body. The Lord Jesus Christ was talking about His crucifixion and His resurrection. That was the sign that God has given us, that a man came into the world who was pure, who was perfect, who was holy, who is raised from the dead by the power of God, who is alive today, who is seated on the right hand of the throne of God today. Father I just pray that you would bind the devil. I pray Lord Jesus that you would rebuke the devil and that these drums that he has sent to drown out the Gospel preaching, I pray Father that this would be silenced. Father, please have mercy on me. Please silence these drums that the Gospel would be preached. Why should Satan win, Lord? Why should Satan take the territory? Why should Satan drown out the Gospel? Father, this is your Gospel and Father, there's a war going on here, a spiritual war in the heavenlies and we wrestle not against flesh and blood. Well I pray that the spirit that's behind this drumming and this singing, Lord, I pray that it would be rebuked and cast out, Lord, by your power and by your blood, Lord, through the power of your blood. I pray, Father, that you'd have mercy on me. This Gospel must be preached, Lord Jesus. This Gospel must be set forth in the power which comes from God and I pray, Father, that you would ensure that the Gospel is preached here in Kidimins II and that your work and your word go forth with power. Oh, Lord God, have mercy. It's distressing to see the Gospel drowned out, Lord. It's distressing to see it drowned out by the spirit of Vanity Fair and of the world, Lord. I pray, Heavenly Father, that you would have mercy upon the people of Kidimins II, Lord. If this music continues, Father, then they will not hear the Gospel and they will remain in their sins and they will die in their sins, Lord. You say, no hope for them, Lord. Will you allow the word to be snatched away so easily by the birds of the air, Lord, so to speak, or just that the word of God will be sown, but sown to the wind, Lord. I pray, Father, that your Gospel would prevail, Lord. I pray that you would silence this music. I pray that you would silence this opposition, Lord, this valley of the drum, this poisonous intrusion, Lord, and I pray, Father, that you would have mercy. And I pray, Father, that you would deliver those who are playing the music from their sins. Father, I ask for help because I am weak. And there was a time, Lord, when I was a young man and I was strong and I could preach and I could exceed the strength of the drums in my own voice, but I can't do that anymore. You know that, Lord Jesus. Jesus Christ is the Saviour of the world and He will save you from your sin. And the Lord Jesus Christ will deliver you from the wrath to come if you turn from your sins and you believe on the Lord Jesus Christ. The trouble is that they've got a loud amplifier. They're quite a distance away, but they've got a loud amplifier and they've got it turned up full volume. But, Father, I'm not worthy that you should help me, Lord, and I'm not worthy that you should help me to preach your word, but this is your Gospel, Father. Father, I pray that the Gospel of Jesus Christ would be preached in this day. I pray, Father, that it would go forth with power, Lord. I pray that sinners would hear it, Lord. The drums mustn't win, Lord. The Gospel must prevail, Lord, and people must hear it and they must be saved from their sins and they must be delivered from the wrath to come and they need to find your salvation. They need to find that deliverance from sin, including the drummers and the singers, Lord. So I pray, Heavenly Father, that you would have mercy. In Aberdeen, many years ago, when I was younger and stronger, there was a drumming group that came and drummed right in front of the preacher when he was preaching the Gospel. And I preached in the Valley of the Son of Him and that was known as the Valley of the Drum because people would sacrifice children to idols in that valley and to bail. And to drown out the cries of the children that were being consumed, they would play loud drums. So it became known as the Valley of the Drum. But Satan is using drums again to drown out the Gospel and, well, only God can deal with that. I can't deal with that. And I'm not going to move either because if I move, then Satan wins. And if I go somewhere else, then there'll always be a drummer in front of me moving me on and moving me on. The Gospel is planted here in this spot. And I look to the Lord and if the drumming doesn't stop and if God doesn't hear my cries and hear my prayers, then that's His will. We've already spoken to one man and two girls about the Gospel and we thank God for that and others. But this Gospel needs to be preached. Of course, there was that group of young people who came back and they were holding the Gospel in derision. They know what it is. And that teenage girl who said that she was Jesus, which she certainly is. Jesus Christ is the Saviour of the world and He is the one that will save you from your sin and give you life. Jesus is alive today. He died on the cross of Calvary and He is raised from the dead. And He is the Saviour of all those that put their trust in Him. Remember that, young man, remember that. Jesus Christ is the Saviour of the world, the one who delivers from sin, the one who saves from death, the one who gives everlasting life, the one whose blood was shed, the one whose body was broken, the one who died to save liars, because the Bible says that liars, those who tell lies, will have their place in the lake of fire, the one who died in the place of thieves, those who steal will have their place in the lake of fire, the one who died in the place of the wicked, the sexually immoral, the idolater, the fornicator, the adulterer, the worshipper, the creature, more than the Creator. The Lord Jesus Christ came into the world to save sinners. He came to save the very worst of sinners, the very chief of sinners. The Lord Jesus Christ came to save sinners, just like you and me. And we cannot save ourselves and we can never deliver ourselves. We have nothing in us that can save us from sin. Muhammad cannot help us. Muhammad didn't die to take away the sin of the world. Jesus Christ did and he is the Son of God. Jesus Christ is the Son of God and the Saviour of the world. And the Lord Jesus, the Son of God, who died on Calvary's cross, who was crucified, who died in the place of sinners, will save you from your sin and deliver you from the wrath to come. Father, I pray for those Muslim women who heard that short Gospel message and I pray that the knowledge that Jesus died on the cross because Islam dies there, and the knowledge that Jesus is the sin-bearer and that he's the Son of God, would sink down into their hearts and into their ears and that you would lead them to everlasting life through faith in Jesus Christ and many others like them, Father. Jesus Christ is the Saviour of the world. You have an undying soul. Now this is very important. I must not strain my voice. I must not do that because if I do, I won't be preaching for the rest of the week. Very frustrated, very frustrated. So Jesus will save you from your sin and oh the love and oh the mercy of God. The Father that Jesus died to save sinners, that was those Muslim women who came past again. Father I pray that they would hear the words that you're a God who loves sinners and that word love would speak to them of a God who loves, a God who is near at hand, a God who we can know through Jesus Christ, a God who has sought us and who has brought us back from our sins through Jesus Christ. I pray that those Muslim women would find mercy, Father. Jesus is the Saviour of the world. The Lord Jesus Christ will either be your Deliverer from all your sin forever or He will save you and deliver you from the wrath to come. The Lord Jesus will either be the one that shows you the mercy of God, the forgiveness of God or He will be the one that says to you, depart from me, accursed into everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels. Everlasting fire, hell, fire and damnation. And we need to flee from the wrath to come and we need to turn from our sins. Abortion is the sin of murder. I say that again, abortion is the sin of murder and God sees it. He calls it the shedding of innocent blood. God's fierce wrath and anger is kindled against on account of abortion. We need to wake up. We are living in a generation where our streets are, spiritually speaking, awash with innocent blood. Blood that was shed in our hospitals and now even in our homes. Innocent blood, the blood of the innocents which God sees, which cries out to Almighty God for vengeance, for justice. Those children that never had life, those children who were so abused and so hated by their mothers that they were cut to pieces in the womb and aborted. Abortion is the murder of the unborn child and God sees it and God will judge his wrath, will be poured out on our generation because of the shedding of innocent blood, because of abortion. We need to repent of abortion. We need to repent of the shedding of innocent blood. We need to repent of the wickedness of our hearts, of the murder that has been committed and we need to turn from our sins and believe on the Lord Jesus Christ. I remember when I was younger, when there were troubles in Northern Ireland, there were many bombings on the mainland here in, many bombings on the mainland here in England, for example. Many innocent people killed, the murder of the innocents and those terrorists who were in prison were set free by the British government. But you see that's not how God deals with sin. They may get away with murder and the killing of the innocents but the Bible tells us that every sin and every transgression of God's law and I think even you would agree that murder is a transgression of the law of God will receive its just recompense and reward and we are a generation of murderers. We have killed the unborn child. We have set at liberty those who have killed the innocents in Northern Ireland, for example, but God sees it. They will have to account to Almighty God for their sins and we are sinners and we are guilty and we are under the wrath of God and we do not deserve the mercy of God but God has promised us his mercy. If only we will repent and if only we will turn and if only we will believe Jesus Christ is the Saviour of the world. Jesus Christ is the Saviour of the world and abortion is the murder of the innocents. Now what kind of generation do we live in when mothers, mothers kill their own children and do so on an industrial scale? 11 million children having been killed in the United Kingdom since 1967, for example, and many more besides who aren't in the statistics. And what kind of generation do we live in when mothers have no compassion, no mercy, no tears, no love for their unborn child? Well it is a godless generation, an idolatrous generation, a heartless generation, a vile generation, a generation full of murderous thoughts and darkness and foolishness and how can such a generation escape the wrath of God? How can such a generation escape the judgments of God? But you can escape the wrath of God if you come to Jesus Christ and if you repent of your sins and the Bible says come now let us reason together though your sins be as scarlet they shall be as white as snow. So even even the cruel heartless mother who sees the destruction of her own unborn child will find mercy and forgiveness if they turn to God through Jesus Christ. Now apart from Jesus Christ there is no mercy. Apart from Jesus Christ there is no forgiveness. It is appointed unto man once to die and after death comes judgment. Then you must stand before almighty God and you must give an account and you cannot stand before God in your sins. The Bible says whosoever was not written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire. That's hell fire and torment for eternity. That's eternal damnation. That is why you need Jesus Christ. That is why you must repent of your sin and turn from your sin and believe on the Lord Jesus Christ. Father I pray for those two girls who listened and then walked off and I pray that they would be convicted of their sins and I pray Lord that they would not be able to escape that conviction Lord until they find Jesus Christ till they repent until they believe on him and that you would have mercy on them and that they would then be filled with joy unspeakable full of glory and know the truth that comes from almighty God. Jesus Christ is the saviour of the world the saviour of all those who put their trust in him and he will save you from your sin and he will deliver you from the wrath to come if you turn from your sin. He is not dead he is risen he is alive today. Jesus said here in John's Gospel chapter 2 he said destroy this temple and in three days I will raise it up Jesus Christ was crucified and he died upon the cross and he was laid in the grave but on the third day he was raised he is not dead he is risen from the dead he is not dead he is alive today he is not dead he is near at hand to those who call on him he is mighty to deliver mighty to save mighty to redeem mighty to cleanse Jesus Christ today is seated on the throne of heaven and he will very soon be revealed on the clouds of glory in that glory honour majesty and power which belongs to God alone. Now you listen to these words from Isaiah and I'll just turn to Isaiah here Lord have mercy upon the people of Kidamons to those who are listening I pray father that the word of God would come with power it's difficult Lord but it is going to be difficult but Lord the grievous thing is that people have no concern for their souls that they have no concern for their salvation father have mercy upon them father awaken your church to pray and intercede that the people would find mercy and that they would turn to you and that they would so verse 17 of chapter 2 of Isaiah and the loftiness of man shall be bowed down and the haughtiness of men shall be made low and the Lord alone shall be exalted in that day on the day of God's wrath on the day when Jesus Christ is revealed on the clouds of heaven in all of the glory and majesty that belongs to God you will be brought down in your haughtiness in your godlessness in your rebellion in your unrepentance in your self satisfaction in your pride in your unbelief in your rebellion against almighty God the loftiness of man shall be bowed down in our sins we can never stand before God in our sins we must fall before almighty God in our sins we cannot stand God hates sin he is holy he is pure he is righteous now this is what the bible says you're going to do when Jesus returns if you're still alive when he returns and many many of us won't be the bible tells us a very great proportion if not 50 of the billions alive in the world today will be killed in wars before the Lord Jesus returns but when the Lord Jesus returns if he were to return today and you are still in your sins we read of those still alive and they shall go into the holes of the rocks and into the caves of the earth for fear of the Lord and the glory of his majesty when he arises to shake terribly the earth and those who've been following my online series on the salvation of Israel that sounds like the final earthquake and it's connected in the book of revelation in that day he will arise to shake terribly the earth in that day a man shall cast his idols of silver and his idols of gold which they made each one for himself to worship to the moles and to the bats all those idols you worship now your pop stars your movie stars your sports stars members of your family are your idols you love them but you do not love god or your religious idols that buddha statue in your living room or that buddha statue on your picture on your bedroom wall and so on and so forth they're going to cast their idols to the moles and to the bats because they're worthless and then we read that those who are alive when the Lord Jesus Christ returns on the day of God's wrath and on the day of God's judgment they are going to go we read into the cliffs of the rocks and into the tops of the ragged rocks for fear of the Lord and for the glory of his majesty when he arises to shake terribly the earth oh Jesus Christ will return very soon on the clouds of heaven the Lord Jesus very soon is going to be revealed in all his glory and you are not ready because you do not know him to the Christians such as myself the thought that the Lord Jesus Christ could return at any time is a cause of exceedingly great joy but what if he were to return today and you do not know him you mock him you hate him you want nothing to do with him you have no thought and no concern for your soul you have no thought for eternity you have no thought for the wrath to come you think that if there is a God then he is obliged to save you he says the wicked shall be turned into hell and he counts you the wicked and you will be turned into hell because you have rejected his son because you have not repented of your sins or turned from your sins or believed on the Lord Jesus Christ or found the salvation which comes from almighty God alone and so the bible says that you must turn and the bible says that you must believe on the Lord Jesus Christ for the saving of your souls and the bible assures you and it promises you that if you turn from your sin and if you believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you seek him with all your heart and you find him you will be delivered from your sins that you have nothing to fear from the second death which is held fire if you find Jesus Christ and you know him then and only then will you have nothing to fear from the wrath to come and from the judgment to come and then and only then will you know the salvation which comes from almighty God there is now another name under heaven given amongst men whereby we must be saved it must be through faith alone in Jesus Christ alone or not at all there is no other name under heaven given amongst men whereby we must be saved we need to be saved we need to be delivered from the wrath to come we need to know the salvation that comes from almighty God turn from your sin from your lies from your unbelief from your idolatry from your love of pleasure from your love of money and your worship of mammon turn from your abortion the murder of the unborn child turn from your sexual immorality fornication adultery pornography homosexuality lesbianism and other sexual sins turn from your blind madness in believing that there are hundreds of genders that is the height of madness turn from your sins turn from your evil ways turn from your lies and your unbelief and your godlessness and your idolatry turn and believe on the Lord Jesus Christ turn to the savior of the world the Lord Jesus Christ and he will deliver you from your sins and he will have mercy on you and he will give you salvation and he will give you everlasting life so believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you shall be saved to the glory of God the father amen father i pray that you would have mercy upon those who did here despite the interruptions i pray lord that conviction of sin would fall on people i pray that people would mourn and lament and weep lord that they would cast their idols to the moles and to the bats now lord while there's time that they would put away their idols lord they put away their wickedness of their hearts and seek the salvation which comes from god because we live in a generation distracted by music and by pleasure lord but no one has any thought for their souls lord but i pray that they would find mercy i pray lord that you would awaken them i pray that you wouldn't abandon them to their sins lord i pray you take away their appetite so they can't eat lord i pray take away their the the libido lord so they can't commit adultery lord i pray that you take away their their pleasures lord that they might they might look to you alone that they might cry out to you lord that they might seek you that they might find you and that they would find mercy that They think the preacher's crazy, Lord, but the preacher isn't. The preacher has salvation. The preacher knows the truth. I'm prepared for the day and the world to come, Lord, and I rejoice in delighting the Lord Jesus, my Saviour. But these are happy in their ignorance, Lord, happy in their sins, happy in their lies. Have mercy upon them, Father. Deliver them, Father. Have mercy upon them and save them from their sins. Awaken them to their lostness and their ruin and their damnation and bring them to Jesus Christ, I pray, Father. Have mercy upon them and deliver them. Oh, Lord, have mercy on this town of Kidamints. There are many other towns besides. Father, I pray for the city of Hull that you pour out your Spirit there and send them teachers and preachers to teach them faithfully the Word of God and deliver them from their oath to come. Oh, Lord, have mercy, I ask and pray in Jesus' precious name. Amen. Where is the church? Where is the church? Anyone would think that open-air preaching is a spectator support that the church enjoys from a distance and catches up on later.

"So Jesus Christ is the saviour of the world and the Lord Jesus Christ will take away your sin and the Lord Jesus Christ will give you life and He will save you from your sins if you believe on Him. Father, again, I just pray that this gospel must be preached, Lord. I cannot compete with the drums, Lord. Have mercy on me, Father. I'm just going to pack up and go home, Lord, if I can't compete. There is no point in me wasting my energy. I'll save that for the next time, Lord. But I want to preach the gospel, Lord. I want Jesus Christ to be glorified. I want His name to be lifted up. I want His word to be set forth. I want sinners to hear Him, Lord, and to know Him. So I pray, Father, that you would clear the way for me to preach the gospel and bring people to hear the gospel, Lord. I'm not here by chance, Lord. I'm here because you sent me. I'm here because this is your purpose. I'm here because you raised this work up. Father, I pray that you would use this work for your glory and have mercy upon me, a sinner, and use me. Jesus Christ is the saviour of the world and He will save you from your sin. God looks at your heart. He knows you. He knows your heart and He will save you. No, you're not. That's a foolish thing to say. No, you're not. Jesus Christ is that saviour of the world and the Lord Jesus Christ will deliver you from your sins. Now I'm not ashamed of the gospel of Christ. I'm not ashamed of this gospel. This gospel has been preached for centuries in this town of Kidderminster. But once again we have a generation where the people have forgotten God. They've forgotten the gospel. They've forgotten the Lord Jesus Christ. They've forgotten the saviour of the world.

"Well, I'm standing in my usual place and about 50 hours down there's a group of people with a loud amplifier who are doing karaoke in the town centre. Of course, I'm not going to interfere with that in any sense, but it could make it harder for people to hear the gospel or they might prefer karaoke to the truth. But I commit this to the Lord and the Lord, and it's a good time to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ. Father, I pray that you have mercy upon this town of Kidderminster. I pray, Father, that conviction of sin would come upon the people. I pray that a hunger for God would come upon the people. I pray that they would gather together to hear the word of God, that this world and its sidelines, its attractions, its music, its karaoke, its songs would mean nothing to them, Lord. That they would have a concern for their souls, that they would be awakened to their lostness, their ruin, their damnation. I pray, Father, that you would use the preaching today for your glory, and I pray, Lord, that you would have mercy upon those who are perishing in their sins. Lord, I pray that they would be awakened. I pray that they would find Jesus Christ. I pray that they would find mercy. I pray that they would seek Him with all their hearts and repent of their sins and believe on Him to the saving of their souls. And Father, I come in weakness, and I can't do this work except by your help and by your Holy Spirit's going on, and ask that your name would be glorified, that your grace would be magnified, and that your gospel would be faithfully, fully, and powerfully preached in the power of the Holy Spirit. And I ask for forgiveness of my own sins. I trust in Jesus Christ alone. I love the Lord Jesus Christ. I thank you, Father, for sending your Son into the world to be my Savior from sin. I pray that His name would be glorified now. Amen. Well, good morning. I pray that you would come crucified and to declare that there is salvation in no other name, under heaven, given amongst men, whereby we must be saved. Jesus is the Savior of the world. The Lord Jesus came into the world to seek and to save that which was lost, and that was sinners like you and I. We cannot save ourselves. We cannot deliver ourselves. We cannot by any means cleanse ourselves from sin or redeem our own souls We need a Savior, and Jesus Christ is that Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ. And He is the Savior of all those who put their trust in Him, the Lord Jesus, who came into the world and died in the place of sinners, loving sinners. The Lord Jesus Christ gave Himself for sinners, and the Bible tells us, for God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believeth on Him should not perish but have everlasting life. If you believe on the Lord Jesus, you're saved from your sin and you have everlasting life. If you do not know Jesus Christ, your sins remain upon you. You are lost and damned and ruined and under the wrath of God. Repent of your sins and believe on the Lord Jesus Christ. Turn from your sins. Seek Him with all your heart. He is not dead. He is risen. Jesus Christ is raised from the dead by the power of Almighty God, and He is seated at the right hand of the throne of God on the throne of heaven, and He will save you from your sin and deliver you from the wrath to come if only you come to Him. Now if you will not come to Jesus Christ, you cannot be saved. You cannot be saved. If you will not come to Jesus Christ, you cannot escape the fires of hell. If you will not come to Jesus Christ, then the wrath of God abides upon you, and on the day of His wrath you will be charged with your sins. God knows your heart. He knows everything about you. He knows your sins. He knows your corruptions. He knows your wickedness. And incidentally I should add, in a day when many people are becoming addicted to vapes, He knows your heart where you do not care about addicting people to something which is harmful to them. I say that because a man who owns a vape store opposite was listening. And vapes harm people. They've replaced smoking but they harm people. And they're addictive. Jesus Christ is that Saviour of the world who will save you from your sins, deliver you from the wrath to come, and give you everlasting life. This world will very soon end. Very soon. All the signs are that very soon the clouds of heaven in all that glory and all that majesty that belongs to God alone. God alone is the Saviour of the world and He is the Saviour of all those who put their trust in Jesus Christ. So if Jesus were to return on the clouds of heaven today and you do not know Him, you would be cast into hell for eternity. That is the plain teaching of the Bible. That's what the Lord Jesus Christ Himself taught us. Hell is a real place, a terrible place of terrifying fiery torment for eternity. Yes, that's right, yes. Well if you listen, if your swear words are foul, why should God allow somebody that swears like you into his heaven? God will never let a swearer like you into his heaven. You must repent and all the love of God is revealed in Jesus Christ. All the love of God is revealed in Jesus Christ. I didn't know children were allowed to buy vapes. I didn't know children were allowed to buy vapes, but there we are. Two very small children went into the vape shop. Am I okay? I'm fine. I'm preaching the gospel. What was that boy saying to me then? That's what he said. I'm not going to repeat it because it's foul. I'm not going to repeat that. Was it a bad thing? Oh yes, very bad things. People hate the gospel. They hate Jesus Christ, but if you find Jesus Christ, he is the savior of the world and he will save you. It doesn't matter what he said to me. He didn't like what I was saying and I'm talking about Jesus saving us from our sins. Okay, so say one thing in here. Okay, Jesus said, okay Jesus said unto them, this is in John's gospel in chapter two, he said, destroy this temple and in three days I will raise it up. Now there was this huge temple like a great cathedral in Jerusalem and the Jews thought that Jesus was talking about destroying that temple, but actually he was talking about them crucifying him and nailing him to the cross. Yes, of course. Okay, so I believe in God, but Jesus Christ is God, so we must go further and we must believe in Jesus Christ and if we believe in Jesus Christ, then we've found God. Now that there is one God, but there are three persons within the Godhead, God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. You won't find that in Islam. Jesus is God the Son and God's love was so great towards us that he sent his son Jesus Christ into the world to die on that cross, to be the savior of the world. Now I've got some gospels here, I wonder if you'd like a gospel to read. Sorry, my foot's stuck in there. I wonder if you'd like a gospel to read. Yes, of course. You can keep it. Yes, yes, of course. I give these out to people. So you can share that and that will tell you more about the Lord Jesus and what he did. Thank you very much. The Lord bless you. God bless you. So you'll hear the drums and as they started, those two girls were distracted from the preaching, but I was able to give them the gospel. Father, I pray for those two girls and for the man who swore and I pray, Father, that they would find mercy and I pray that they would find the salvation which comes from Almighty God. And Father, I pray that you would silence the drums because the drums are silencing the word of God. And I pray, Lord, that because you are the Lord of heaven and earth, that you would silence the drums, maybe by the batteries running out or maybe by heavy rain or something, Lord. But I just pray, Father, that you would work and that you would, Father, that this is your word. I pray that you would ensure that it goes forth to the glory and honour of the Lord Jesus Christ. For people are distracted by drums just as they were distracted in the valley of the Son of Him and when they were offering their children to sacrifices, to idols. So I pray, Father, that you would deliver us from the drums and I pray, Father, that the gospel will be faithfully preached because my voice isn't strong enough and my frame isn't strong enough to compete with the drums, Lord. And people are drawn aside. Lord, again, have mercy on those girls and that man. In Jesus' name I ask and pray. Amen.

Amen.

We've got great sponsors lined up like Riot, Marathon, GDA, CleanSpark, BitDeer, Lantium, Cormant, Compass, HTS, Crypto Power, Priority Power, Sunoda, and many more. Solidify your trust in the world of artificial intelligence and the world of artificial intelligence. We'll see you there. Hello, welcome back to the MiningPod. I'm Will Foxley, joined today by Rajeev and Varun from Auradine. Thank you so much for joining today. We're really excited to talk about the new ASIC product you guys are bringing to the market. How are you guys doing? Doing great. Thanks for having us, Will. Definitely. You know, the market's clamoring to know more about you guys. The first time I heard about you was from someone who reads into Marathon Digital's deep SEC letters that they put out there, their filings. And they're like, what is this company Auradine? What's going on with this? And people are wondering about it. And then we found out this summer, you guys were public, you guys raised $81 million and there's a lot of momentum around the product you guys are bringing to market. So that's why we're having you on the show today because people have a lot of questions. I'm sure you guys are excited to start producing a new miner for the Bitcoin mining market. So let's just start there. If we could get an intro for both you guys, like your past backgrounds, what Auradine is doing, and then also on the product. My name is Rajeev Kimani. I am a Silicon Valley technology executive and entrepreneur. I've been in Silicon Valley for 30 plus years. Have been involved in multiple successful startup companies, as well as being a C -level executive in public companies. My background is in computer science and engineering, and then also an MBA from Stanford. And this is my fourth startup that we believe is going to be bigger and better than those other companies before this. Yeah, my name is Barun Kaur. So my last company was Palo Alto Networks. I was in the founding team and did two more startups before that. And I started my career at Motorola after I finished my PhD. Awesome. Thanks for that background. Fortune just did a great piece on you guys for like detailing the company. And it started from the question like, how did this company raise $81 million just like on the background here? And maybe you guys have some disagreements with that, but that aside, I like the ending of the whole fortune piece, which we'll link in the show notes, which is, and you guys are coming into a crowded market and raise a lot of money based on your background, based on the things that you guys have built before and as exited from successfully. So with that being said, let's talk about Auradine, the product that you guys are bringing to market and where you see it fitting into the competition landscape. Yeah, we started Auradine with a big vision and the vision was to build an infrastructure company for the next generation of the web infrastructure. And we believe that blockchain AI and privacy are fundamental building blocks that will really revolutionize how we all work and play. And we think that as we started to look at these spaces, we started with blockchain Bitcoin being the biggest blockchain and the most successful that there is. And then during that process, we connected with marathon. And what we said is, what can we do that's innovative and different than what has existed before us. And prior to us, as you know, what has happened is that Bitcoin mining has gone from CPU's to GPU's to ASICs. And then all of the ASIC providers have moved, have essentially been Chinese companies. And so what we saw was two things. One is that we need to provide a very robust US supplier of this technology, which is very important, especially for US and North American miners in general. So that was a very important aspect. But the second aspect is, was to do something that is much more symbiotic and constructive for the energy ecosystem. And so we have done a lot of innovation in bringing out this product, which is our very first product. It's the first four nanometer ASIC in the world. And we've executed extremely fast when people look at us that literally within from start to getting a product out in the market is not much greater than a year. But we have executed extremely fast on this. As you can imagine, we have an amazing roadmap in front of us. And we have some amazing capabilities in our first product. So we are super excited to bring the Teraflux mining product line to market. Awesome. Yeah. So it's kind of going on that whole line. Tell me a little bit about like the market you guys are building in. I noticed that you guys are building within the US, as opposed to Bitmain and others who are building mostly out of East Asia. Bitmain of course has moved its facilities a lot of times and they're mostly out of Malaysia. But then even like the chips themselves are coming out of Taiwan or in the case of MicroBT, they're coming out of South Korea. Tell me about your guys' supply chain, where you guys get your ASIC parts and how you guys choose to manufacture your whole machine. Yes. So I'll give an overview and Varun can add to it. But essentially, well, first of all, we are a US company. So we are a US incorporated company. Secondarily, the chip design is entirely done in the US. So we are based in Silicon Valley. All of our engineers are based here. So that's a second very important piece of it. So all of the intellectual property, the second. The third thing that we are doing is that we are, in terms of the foundries, we are working with the leading foundries. But what we paid extra attention to is that whatever technology that we use has a manufacturing plant in the United States. Now, turns out the two leading foundries, TSMC and Samsung, both have US manufacturing locations. And we wanted to make sure that those chips could be manufactured in the US. Very, very important aspect for us. And so, you know, even though some of the Chinese companies have moved to other parts, the reality is that the US has restrictions about access to leading edge process technology. There are tariffs. Are those companies bypassing tariffs using certain corporate models or not? Those are questions that are yet to be answered completely. But that's something that we have to do that for the US vendors. Awesome. Yeah. So let's go into the product itself a little bit more. And I like what you noted about like the difference of tariff restrictions. I think the geopolitical issue with ASIC importation itself is an under discussed topic. So from what we're seeing from public numbers right now, it looks like you guys released 22 joules per tariff for this machine with a plus or minus 8%. Curious a little bit more about some of these details. You guys can take this question as you want. Is this on the chip level or the system level? What do you think about that 8 % deviation from the 22 joules per tariff hash? Is that like higher or lower than you're seeing from competitors? And then from there, let's talk about the four nanometer chip that you guys are working on. Yeah. So this is the first product is four nanometers. The specs that we've done are at a system level, not at a chip level, because at the end of the day, customers care about system level specs. And then the plus or minus 8%, what happens is when you're in the leading edge process technology node and you're building the silicon, when you're manufacturing the silicon, there's a deviation in the capabilities of the silicon. And so that is really to capture that. Now, in terms of our competitors, we've seen numbers that are plus or minus five, and actually in other cases, plus or minus 10 % as well. Now we are early in the game. So as we get more and more learnings from building larger quantities of products, we can refine those numbers, make it a little more tighter. We may be able to improve some of these efficiency numbers as well, but we are coming from the point of view of being somewhat conservative. Other vendors before us have tried to be aggressive and then have missed expectations. And we hear that from customers. And so our goal based on our prior track records is to try to see if we can be somewhat conservative and delight people on the upside. So that's our philosophy. Barun, anything? No, I think that's... Great. I don't know if you guys have released these numbers and it'd be curious to see if you have or have not, but hash rate and then power at the wall. Have you guys discussed those publicly yet? Yeah, the hash rates, you know what, the world before our product, which is up till now, is that typically people give you a miner that runs at a certain terahash rate and has a certain efficiency. And what happens is that today, if you want to be able to go up and down, people refer to that as overclock or underclock. That requires either a firmware change or a different firmware, or you have to change the control board, or you have to write software on top of it to turn on and off these systems very kludgy. It's really, I would say it's still in the dark ages, so to speak, relative to the rest of the technology infrastructure. And that's because Bitcoin came from being more of a hobbyist product to the data center scale product. And it has done a bunch of batch work along the way. What we have in our systems is we have built in from the ground up the capability to go up and down in terahash rates, all the way from zero to 185 in our air -cooled systems, in our immersion systems to much higher numbers, some of which we haven't disclosed. And you can do that very fast. And that's super important for people who want to work with energy partners to bring down energy consumption and take advantage of some of those curtailment related economics that we get in a very rapid timeframe. So we have all of those capabilities built into the system. We refer to that as energy tune. It's patented technology. And I think people are going to love it when they see it. So we've done that. But in addition, what we've also done is we've made sure that these systems keep operating at high temperature ranges, which again is critical, as you know, in certain parts of the country, temperatures are getting hotter than they used to be, and miners are shut down for 10, 20, 30 percent of the time. In our case, it will keep running and will keep hashing and keep providing the economics to the miners. Awesome. For the four nanometer part, I want to go back to that. The energy efficiency, there's this general idea that as we go down to the size of the node from eight to seven to six to five to four, it's supposed to become more energy efficient. Tell me a little bit about that and energy efficiencies you guys are capturing within your new model and also how it compares to the market as of now. Yeah. So today, most of the products that are shipping are in five nanometer or older process nodes. To achieve energy efficiency, you do need leading edge process technology. In addition, what you also need is design and architecture to enable that. These Bitcoin mining systems run at very, very low voltages, and to make that work at very low voltages relative to every other product is a complex engineering and technology effort. And so we have both of those things in motion. As I said, we started the company literally a year and a half ago, and we have brought to market a product in record time, matching the best in class that exists in the world today. We have more tricks up our sleeve as we bring additional products to the world at Halfing and beyond. And we believe we are going to be the best in the world, if not within plus or minus a few percent of the best in the world. Both now as well as we go forward. So super confident of that. Right now, as you know, the world is in kind of the 21 plus or minus in terms of deployments. We think it's going to get much better than here. But when we talk to customers, we see there are certain customers that are very sensitive in cost of the miners. Others are more sensitive in the efficiency. But both of them care extremely about the variability and the energy tune features, which we think is going to become a must have requirement going forward. So yeah, let's talk about the auto tune features that you guys have put into this. From my understanding, there's a patent around this. How do you guys look at this technology compared to some of the other technologies that are out there? I mean, there's definitely lots of different firmware options for controlling a miner and controlling its temperature setting. What are you guys sort of doing different when you're building this unit holistically? Yeah, very different. Very different than anything that has been done before. So in the past, typically at a single miner level, you could actually run it at a certain terahash rate or shut down the miner, put it in sleep mode. Then more recently, people have started to put together an eco mode, if you will. That's the state of the art that exists today. And what people have tried to do is solve some of these fundamental problems through putting software level turning on and off of the miners. Not the most efficient way to do it. What we have done it is things that are inside a miner. And so we have these capabilities that are unique, very different than anything else that's been done before, where inside the miner through API calls, the hardware is able to change and adjust the various terahash rates and so forth. And what all you do is you just give all these inputs to the miner, and the miner figures out how to do it and does it, rather than trying to do it in a crudgy fashion outside through some software mechanisms. So that's very different, and that's where we have a patent for the energy tune and autotune capabilities. As you might expect, things like Bitcoin price, energy cost, transaction fees, temperature, all of those are inputs into trying to figure out what is the optimal point for the miner to run. More and more variables are coming into the picture. And to top it off also, autotune has the ability to go to tens of thousands of miners and be able to do an energy tune on each of them at the get -go. And we are trying to get to a point where we can do it in a few seconds so that it is in line with customer requirements where curtailment can happen at that short period of time. Now, there's a distinct difference between... So the autotune is one feature and there's the energy tune is another feature. Now, the energy tune also to couple with what Rajeev mentioned, we are using a machine learning techniques to do dynamic voltage frequency scaling so that each chip can be tuned to get to the optimal joules per terahash. Mm When to sell Garza goes to work, she heads into the thorn forests of the Rio Grande Valley. Bucket in hand, she scours the dense, shrubby landscape for about 40 different kinds of seeds. Some of the species that we do collect for are Texas Ebony, Texas sometimes I pick them with my hand or sometimes I can use a stick to cause them to fall down into my bucket. Garza works for the nonprofit American forests, which helps restore thorn forests in Texas. She says the area is incredibly diverse. It's home to endangered plants and animals such as the Ocelot. But agriculture and urbanization have decimated the ecosystem. Less than 10 % of historical thorn forests are left and what is vulnerable to climate change. But reversing the damage is difficult because nurseries do not have enough seedlings for restoration projects. And then recently because of climate change and the increased droughts, some of our seedlings don't survive as well. So Garza supplies growers with seeds, including drought tolerant species, so restoration work can continue and thorn forests can better survive in a warmer future. A highlight from The Web3 Nonprofit Episode 3 - Black Women Blockchain Council

"We feel that as we're building this ecosystem, there's a need for so many different hands to be involved so that we can build it the right way. I see blockchain as a revolution. I see it as an opportunity to rewrite the wrongs of the past, or at least try to start with a fresh start and create opportunities for everyone and not just a select few in tech. Hi there, welcome to the Web3 Nonprofit, a special 10 -part crypto -ultrism podcast series exploring stories of nonprofits who are leveraging Web3 technology for good. My name is Drew from Crypto -ultrism .org. In this series, we will chat about the highs and lows of being a nonprofit in the world of Web3 and how organizations of all sizes can leverage this transformative technology to grow their impact. So let's dive right in. Welcome, welcome to the third episode of our new very special 10 -part podcast series. In each episode, we will be highlighting a different nonprofit organization that is innovating with Web3 technology. Now before we dive in and welcome our guest, I want to give a special shout out and thanks to Endowment for their partnership in helping bring this to life. So before we get started, I wanted to share a special message from their team. Hey, it's day. So as you know, Endowment lets you gift over a million US nonprofits and thousands more globally and you probably want to support a lot of them. You might be like, I want to support five different organizations. Does that mean I'm going to get five different tax receipts and have to bring them all to my accountant? And I've got something that I think can help. It's called a donor advised fund. You might hear it sometimes called a DAF. Think about it as your personal giving account where you can make one donation and get one tax receipt. Oftentimes you can write off the full amount and then take your time. You can grant to those five orgs, 10 orgs, however many you want all from one place. And because Endowment funds are all on chain, they're faster than traditional DAFs, they're way more affordable and they're transparent. You can follow the money all the way to its destination. So if you're ready to simplify your giving life, go to app .endowment .org and click the start of fund button. And now a word from Larry at the lawyer box. Endowment does not give financial advice that is a job for a licensed tax professional. I love that. Definitely head over to endowment .org that's E -N -D -A -O -M -E -N -T .org to learn about their incredible work. Okay, now the moment we've all been waiting for. For the third episode, we're excited to highlight the work of Black Woman Blockchain Council. An organization incredible with a mission to create a safe space that inspires, trains and activates a talent and economic pipeline of Black women pursuing professional and entrepreneurial careers in blockchain and fintech, including inspiring and educating the next generation of diverse and inclusive blockchain leaders. Today, we welcome to the podcast, Olayinka O 'Danneran, founder and chairwoman of Black Woman Blockchain Council. So let's dive right in. Okay, Olayinka, thank you so much for being here today on the Web3 nonprofit podcast. So excited to have you. Thank you very much, Drew, for having me. I'm excited to be here with you as well. Yeah, yeah, for sure. And, you know, really excited to learn about the fantastic work you're doing with Black Woman Blockchain Council. I've been following it for a while now. You're really doing some really great stuff to just build up, you know, inclusion and to make sure that it's a really positive space to build in. And so to start things off, I'd love to hear your story of how did you end up working in the nonprofit sector? Well, I have to go back a journey to how did I even get involved in the whole blockchain space, right? Yeah, yeah, for sure. So it was around 2015, I wanted to do a startup and I met up with a guy that I had reached out to simply because his name was in a magazine that I was reading about a local startup and she had referenced his name, so I was like, okay, he must be a great person to reach out to. I ended up reaching out to him. We met in D .C. and he was talking about Bitcoin and every time that we met, he kept talking about it. So it piqued my curiosity and I started going down the rabbit hole and fell in love with the technology more than the cryptocurrency and actually got myself involved in the ecosystem as an educator through Black Women Blockchain Council since 2018. That's been going as a benefit LLC, but more for for profit. We really wanted to build a lot more programs in this space to provide access and resources to the black community, especially black women in this space and young girls as well. And so we figured going the nonprofit route would make sense for us to be able to tap into our networks and get them to feel incentivized to donate money so that we can bring a lot more of our programs to life. And that's really how I got involved in 2021. We started Black Women in Blockchain and since then, it's been a great journey that we've been going through. We've had several great sponsors and donors of our effort and brought forth some programs and we're looking to bring forth some more. Definitely. And I'm excited to learn more about those programs, including the training and mentorship and stuff that you offer. I think that's so important and I'm really excited to hear about that. So maybe to start things off, can you please just like at a higher level, introduce listeners to Black Women Blockchain Council, including your mission and impacts? Yeah, so Black Women Blockchain Council, we're here to provide education and awareness about the blockchain technology. Our goal is to make sure that no one gets left behind in this ecosystem that we're building and that there's plenty of resources that are presented to the Black community as well as underrepresented communities within the space. So that way we can continue to grow and really create solutions that can be social impactful. I love that. And I want to dive now a bit more into your programs and on your website, you mentioned how your organization is committed to empowering Black women through comprehensive training, mentorship, networking opportunities, and visibility programs, which is great. Love that, super important. So tell me about the programs you offer. Tell me more about this. Yeah, so we have educational programs. We have a two -track certification program that we created with ConsenSys, which is part of the Ethereum Foundation. They're a huge organization out there and they're really diving in into helping a lot more people get involved in the blockchain ecosystem, in particular, the Ethereum blockchain ecosystem that they're working under. And so with them, we've been able to create these certified programs to allow individuals to one, understand the foundation of blockchain, two, dive deeper into the realms of being a developer. In this space, there's still a lot more people that are just understanding the basics, but not really understanding how to create the technology or build the technical code, I should say, the technology, right? So we want to make sure that women in particular have access to that. And our goal is to bring on board half a million Black women blockchain devs. And that's an ambitious goal by the year 2030. We feel that, you know, as we're building this ecosystem, there's a need for so many different hands to be involved so that we can build it the right way, right? I see blockchain as a revolution. I see it as an opportunity to rewrite the wrongs of the past, or at least try to start with a fresh start and create opportunities for everyone and not just a select few in tech. I love that. And, you know, that's something I've heard consistently when I've spoke with builders, you know, especially builders from communities have been like traditionally excluded from like traditional tech circles and those sorts of things is that like, it's almost like this feeling of like it's wet cement, you know, we can just kind of build from the ground level, have a say in the development of this new ecosystem and learn from the mistakes of web one and web two and build from that and build a more equitable ecosystem. So really appreciate the work that you're doing. I think that's fantastic. So let's say that there's someone listening right now that wants to get involved in that course or take part in the certificate program. How would they go about doing that? Yeah, they can go to our website, bwbc .io and click on BWBC Academy. That will take them directly to our LMS learning management system that we've created specifically for this course and also for individuals to interact with others who are taking the course. They can do it that way. Or they can go to community .bwbc .io forward slash sign up and they'll be able to quickly sign up for the course that way, too. Very cool. I love that. And so you mentioned earlier that you're a public benefit LLC, a nonprofit benefit LLC. Tell me more about the structure in the community behind the organization, because I'm you know, I'm not as familiar with this this type of structure. So tell me more about this and why you chose this. Yeah, because, well, the the it really starts with what the intention of the organization was. When I came into the scene around 2015, not a lot of people were talking about blockchain. And, you know, it was it was a tech space for tech bros. Right. And so you you got surrounded by that. And but then at the same time, you saw opportunities around 2018. There was a huge uproar about a Bitcoin conference and that created avenues for women to really stake their feet into the space and let it be known that there are women in here. I started seeing opportunities being passed around and my fear was that we were in the verge of recreating Silicon Valley in the sense that only a certain group of people were known as the builders of tech. Right. And so I didn't want to repeat what I feel was a mistake. I saw it as a way for us to be able to create an avenue, as I mentioned before. So with BWBC, the intention was really to go into it, creating an opportunity to be impactful into the ecosystem that's being built, as well as the black community. So our intentions wasn't really to generate money, but really create avenues that allow people to to gain the sources, gain awareness. And so the benefit aspect is really what drove that. And so we wanted to make it clear to people that we're not just a fly by night. We really want to have intentional, beneficial programs for the community to get involved. And that's where Benefit LLC came from. Yeah, that's amazing. That's really cool. And, you know, you'd mentioned around, you know, a woman building in Web3 and blockchain. You have a really beautiful piece of artwork in the background there that says the future is female. Love that. That's beautiful. So, you know, what advice, I guess, would you give to two women that are looking to build in the Web3 ecosystem that are maybe hesitant because of this perception of like, you know, that it is maybe reality to some extent, too, that it is, you know, just a tech bro dominated space. What would you say? What advice would you give? I would tell them not to consider it that way. I would tell them that there's a lot of women in this space. One of the things that I've been privileged to have in this space is surround myself by women left, right, front, back, you know, and they're everywhere. So I don't know that type of tech space where there's no women. I know the tech space where there are women because I've been fortunate to be surrounded by them. And I want to let other females know that we're out here. We may not be as vocal. We may not be the one that are pushed to the front, but we're the one that's building. We're the one that's educating. We're the one that's creating community because, you know, you can't have blockchain without community. And Web3 is solely based on community. And the people that are actually taking the time to build that foundation to make it sustainable are the women. And so there's a lot of us here and we're coming from various backgrounds. You could be tech adjacent. And when I say tech adjacent, you know, attorneys are needed more than ever in this space. As educators like myself that are in this space, you know, we have a lot of hackers going on. So if you're in cybersecurity, you're needed in this space. Policymakers are needed. So like these are avenues that women tend to, you know, gravitate towards. But for some reason, they feel that they can't be in tech. Yes, you can be in tech. There's a lot of opportunities and positions for you. And I would say don't let the fear stop you because you just may end up realizing that you love it and you love being here and this is where you need to be. Because right now we're still in the build phase. And so we want you we want all voices to be added to how the structure is being built and what type of foundation so that it can be sustainable. We have so many different, you know, negativity that are coming our way that we're trying to build something sustainable and impactful to society. And women are important in that. Yeah, definitely. And I think, you know, what you said there, too, really stood out to me around, like you don't have to be, you know, a developer, a coder. Right. And I knew that like a lot of people have this perception that you need to have a computer science degree or background and be some super coder to be able to engage and be successful in this new ecosystem. But I think you're 100 percent spot on that, like anyone, no matter what your background can find a place in Web3. Right. If you're a lawyer, an artist, an accountant, you know, a creative. Right. There's just so many opportunities in this space for you to join it and to have an impact, which is great. So I'd love to shift now, if that's OK, a little bit, you know, because you mentioned earlier that you've done some fundraising in the space to be able to raise funds to help get this off the ground. I'd love to hear about your experience fundraising with crypto and, you know, what advice you'd have for other nonprofits, whether it's, you know, a benefit LLC or a charitable organization that are interested in engaging in crypto fundraising. Yes, so for me, it was easier to transfer into fundraising through crypto because I'm in this space, I know how it is. I've been able to meet individuals like Alexis Miller, who works with Endowment, that was able to bring us on board to their platform, which made the exchange from, you know, crypto to US dollar really easy. So I suggest that, you know, this is not a plug, but it kind of sounds like it. You know, Endowment was a lifesaver. The fact that they had such a platform in place really was helpful. But, you know, it's it's just it's just preparing yourself for the future. Right. As a nonprofit, we got to think of avenues, different ways of, you know, fundraising and different ways that people are going to show up with their funds. There's a lot of people that, you know, a couple of years ago made a lot of money in crypto, knowing the IRS is now looking at that and they're thinking, you know, long term capital gains or, you know, taxes, the word taxes is now introduced into this space. A lot of people are looking to actually, you know, find ways to assist them in being deducting their taxes. But I want to say that they're looking for ways to donate, you know, to a really good program or something that's social impactful. So, you know, this is an avenue that a lot of nonprofits are missing out on because they're not looking at crypto. I think it's it's it's just being more sustainable in this space, you know, to be able to take different resources and different funds as a nonprofit and as a new nonprofit. You know, we we can't afford to be closed minded to the way the funds are coming. Any opportunity for us, we're going to research it. We're going to look at it and see if it's viable for us. And it just so happened that crypto was something that we definitely were able to receive. Yeah, definitely. And Love Endowment as well. Huge fan of the work they're doing. Excellent platform. And Alexis, I think it was actually who connected us as well. So shout out to Alexis. Thank you for the work you're doing. But yeah, that's great advice. And I think that, you know, like nonprofits, a lot of nonprofits that I've worked with are struggling to kind of like keep afloat and keep up with all the tech advances and everything and, you know, really relying on kind of their traditional donor base and everything. But that donor base is also really, you know, aging out as well. And, you know, they're really struggling to, I think, attract new donor bases. I think what you said around like it's a great way to like future proof and like, you know, I think, yeah, definitely spot on. And, you know, I think fundraising, too, is just one piece of the puzzle, right? When it comes to the benefits of blockchain and crypto. And so I was wondering, like, you know, beyond fundraising, what are some of the ways that other impact organizations like Charities, B Corps, whatever it is, can leverage blockchain technology to grow their impact? Yeah, I mean, like NFTs, non fungible tokens, right? A lot of people have heard of NFTs, you know, a couple of years ago when people were making ridiculous amount of money, all for what they deemed to be PFPs or profile pictures. Right. But these NFTs can also be a way to incentivize your donors by giving them something, an NFT, an artwork that are either created by the people that were impacted by that donation, by the program that, you know, a symbolism of, you know, a thank you for helping us obtain our goal. I think a lot of people will find value in using NFTs in a way that will be more commemorative of actions that donors have done. And yeah, and it could also be a way to make it fun for especially the younger generation, because they're all into NFTs. So, you know, imagine if a sponsor or sorry, a donor, imagine if a donor decides to present you with some crypto currencies, right? And you send them an NFT just simply as a thank you. That's really impactful for them. And also they will keep it within their portfolio or their gallery. And others can see that NFT. And once they see the NFT has your name, it's another way of marketing, you know, that's nonprofit. So if someone sees it, they can click on it, see the name and then decide to research it, look into what you guys are doing and consider donating that way. So it's it's an ongoing gifting platform or avenue or vehicle that you can use. Yeah, definitely. I know and I think NFTs are so fascinating because a lot of people like look at them and NFTs are just no JPEGs and whatnot. But I think that there's such a cool opportunity there for like nonprofits to use them to engage donors, like you mentioned, right. You know, to recognize and reward them. It can be like a really cool like badge of like a proof of impact. Right. Proof of impact, yeah. Yeah. I've also seen like dynamic NFTs where, you know, it can be updated, you know, as you donate more. So like there's some really creative use cases there. And you're right, too. It can also be a way for the nonprofit to tell a story or to raise awareness of the work they're doing, too. So, yeah, I think that nonprofits should definitely not be so quick to discount NFTs. I think they can be a very valuable tool for them in their in their yeah, in their growth. So, you know, obviously, a lot of nonprofit leaders are skeptical about Web3 and many rightfully so as well. Right. You know, there's been a lot of unfortunately bad actors that I think have kind of tainted the space a bit, you know, which has resulted in a lot of negative coverage, that it's a lot of scams and, you know, bad actors and those sorts of things. So nonprofit leaders are skeptical. So for those that are skeptical to get involved in this new and emerging space, what advice would you give to them? Oh, if you're skeptical, I would say, you know, read up on the technology. Right. Because I did come in being skeptical of crypto, one aspect of, you know, the technology and decided to read up and started seeing, oh, there's so many different possibilities in this space. You know, my background is also in cybersecurity, so I know about hackers and vulnerabilities and all that stuff. And I want to say that just to say that, you know, the breaches and incidents that do happen in this space is not only isolated to this space, it happens elsewhere as well. It happens with fiat, you know, US dollars as well, you know, so you're not really going to prevent all kinds of, you know, vulnerabilities. But however, that should not be the reasons why you decide to stay away. Another thing is, you know, regardless of the things that are happening when it comes to the vulnerabilities and the threats and incidents, so many different industries are already incorporating, you know, the different type of use cases. We have Visa, you know, that just stepped up, you know, their game again. They issued NFTs, now they're doing, you know, USDs, you know, stable coins. And so, you know, there's a lot of people that are slowly changing and things are changing around you, you know, you don't want that negativity to stop your progress into what the future is going to be. And the future is coming. The future is tech, you know, and it's female, but, you know, the future is tech, you know, and it's important for nonprofits to stay up to date. Every single time when people ask me, you know, about why should people be concerned about, you know, crypto or not using crypto, I always think of Blockbuster, right? They were a well -known company when I was younger, you know, used to be able to go to their store, rent out videos and all that stuff. And everybody thought that they were going to be here forever. All of a sudden they're gone, right? They're replaced. And the younger generation have no idea who they are only because they didn't change with time. So as nonprofits, we have to change with time. We have to be kind of one step ahead, you know, wear multiple hats. And I hate to say it, but kind of experimental, you know, in our approaches, in our marketing and in everything, right? Because if we get to the space where we're just stagnant and say, this is the only way that we're going to receive, we're going to be left in the dust. So you do have to conform to tech. You know, even A .I., nonprofits can't be close minded to A .I. is very helpful to a lot of people. The same thing with blockchain technology. You have to be open minded to it. Yeah, definitely. Wow. Great advice. Thank you so much for sharing that. Yeah, I think, you know, it's the future, right? And to stay afloat, to stay relevant, to stay impactful in the future, you got to, you know, stay up to date with these new technological trends and movements. So, yeah, that's some great advice there and great advice all around, some great insights. I appreciate everything you've shared and obviously weren't able to cover everything about the work you're doing. So for those that are listening and that want to learn more and get involved and support the work that you're doing, what's the best way for them to do that? Yeah, so you can go to BWINB .org, which is Black Women in Blockchain, and find out more about us. We are doing a fundraiser right now. And, you know, you can check out our fundraiser. Our goal is to raise money for programs that we want to implement. One of them is a mentorship program for the younger generation, high schools and college students. It's an 18 week course that we're trying to launch. And this 18 week course will allow these younger generations of females to be able to tap into careers in the blockchain space because there's several different careers and give them access to mentors within these different careers so that they can have the opportunity to maybe transition or look into the possibility of transitioning into these wonderful, lucrative careers that are happening in the blockchain space. And there's plenty of them. It's not just developers. You have influencers. As I said, you have regulators, policymakers, lawyers, attorneys, educators, so many different positions and roles. Yeah, definitely. Thank you for sharing that. And of course, those listening in, all the links will be in the show notes so you can follow along and get involved in this incredible movement. And to end on one final note of inspiration, if that's OK, I'd love to hear a recent success story or win that you've had at a Black Women Blockchain Council that you can share with the audience. Yeah, a recent success story was our ability to provide a fellowship program to college students to attend one of our conferences that happened earlier this year. It was the Women of Blockchain, the International Women of Blockchain Conference, which is an annual conference that we put together. It gives you access to different women in this space. As I mentioned, there's a lot of us. And you get to hear from them and what they're building, how they're showing up in this space. And it's a three day conference. So we were able to provide free room at the hotel as well as their travel expenses. And that's something that a lot of conferences don't oftentimes do. They will lower the price for scholar students. But I remember being a college student, you know, I remember not having the resources, but I want to attend. And so we made sure that they were that they had the opportunity to attend for free without having to worry about how they're going to come up with the money and gave them access to a lot of networking. And to this day, a lot of them are finding success in this space. So I'm really excited about that and the potential of what's to come for them. Yeah, totally. That's amazing. I love that. What a great opportunity for those for the scholars to be able to join that conference. And yeah, I think back as a student, I would have never been able to afford to and transportation hotel and, you know, all that stuff to go to a conference. Right. So that's so important and so inspiring for those individuals that we were able to go. So thank you so much for all you do to uplift and build in this space. And thank you for sharing all the fantastic advice you have today for those listening and definitely check out the show notes to follow along. Hopefully you can also support this movement because they're doing a fundraiser right now. So thank you so much for being here, Olga. It was a pleasure to have you. And thank you for the work you're doing. Thank you, Drew. Thank you very much for having me. A huge thank you to Olga for joining us today on the Web3 nonprofit podcast. Make sure to check out the show notes so you can learn more about their work and consider making a donation to this incredible organization. They're actually running a fundraising campaign right as we speak. A big thank you again to Endowment for their partnership in this podcast series. We couldn't have done it without them. So thanks for listening in and make sure to join us again in a couple of weeks for next episode. Also, feel free to head over to cryptoautism .org to learn more about our work and feel free to shoot us a message if you'd like to chat. Until next time, let's keep showing the world the good of crypto.

What Makes One City Better Than Another? Broker Ed Del Beccaro Weighs In

"From a broker's perspective, what makes one city better than another? Talk specifically about that approval process. Let's talk about that. First, we should talk about regional. So my workforce, we use what we call the phrase 360 commute shed. So depending upon the kind of tenant, so the original migration of tenants in the 80s and early 90s was from San Francisco to the greater East Bay. That's why you saw all the buildings built in San Ramon, Pleasanton, 680 Coroner, places like that. And one reason they moved is their workforce was there. So they followed the workforce in that case. So it wasn't that they didn't like San Francisco. So that's Chevron. That was Wells Fargo. That was B of A, Metropolitan Life Insurance, all the big users in that area. So they actually followed the workforce. And one reason why you follow your workforce, there's studies that if you have a one way commute of over an hour and 10 minutes or an hour and a half one way, you're going to lose 40 to 50 percent of your workforce. Therefore, I might love San Francisco or might love downtown L .A., but I have to go where I think I can get my workforce. And where's my workforce of the future? So first of all, it's a regional decision before it's a city decision. So even if I locate in a city as central as Walnut Creek, I might have some of my workforce coming from Fairfield, Benicia, Richmond, Oakland, South San Francisco and Tri -Valley. So what then? So therefore, the first question is, where is my workforce? Where is my future workforce? To answer the second question of where is my future workforce? I have a salary range that I can afford as a company. And the current insurance and banks are usually in the 60 to 130 thousand range. You then work that backwards. And if I hire somebody for one hundred thousand, one hundred twenty thousand, will that person be able to pay rent or buy a house in a given region? If they can't, if their average rental, if the average apartment rents are forty thousand a year, if the average mortgage is five thousand a year, five thousand a month, rather, then I have to move further afield. So that's why you see companies now leaving the inner bay, going to Sacramento and Austin region. Then within a region, once a decision is made that I can, my current workforce is in a given region, let's say East Bay. Then let's say the second thing is I know that I can afford my workforce over the next 10 years to live there and pay them the market rates. Then what city do I go to within a sub region? There, every city is the best when you ask the cities, but then we make decisions based on location to transportation, locations relative to interchanges, locations relative to barred mass transit. Because again, if I have people coming in from 360 degrees, 20 miles, let's say to 40 miles away from any given point, if I'm in Fairfield, how do I get to East County? If I'm in Fairfield, how do I get to San Ramon? If I'm in Tracy, how do I get to Walnut Creek? Or if I'm in Fremont, how do I get to Walnut Creek? So then we tried to centrally locate where most of those workers are. And then within that region, what cities have the better approval process? Because the new kinds of tenants that are coming into the region are not the back office tenants. That was pretty simple build out. Cubes, called them Dilbert Farms. That's what you saw the original migration wave. Now we have laboratories, we have more involved IT, more involved investment in infrastructure and more complicated uses. So then the question is, if we're going to grow and expand, what city next to a transportation central can best accommodate our strategy of expansion and with approvals? And then second, what's the business environment? Some cities, unfortunately, in our area have raised their business payroll tax to extraordinarily high. They're in effect, some companies won't go there. You go next door.

A highlight from Evangelism - The Christian and Prayer

"We are glad to see you gathered in tonight in the house of the Lord and we want to open by singing praises on to the Lord and that hymn is 577. Sweet is the promise, I will not forget thee, nothing can molest or turn my soul away and we want to really sing on to the glory of the Lord tonight so we'll stand after the introduction and worship God. Sweet is the promise, I will not forget thee, nothing can molest or turn my soul away. We know the night we are within the valley, the speed of the shining at eternal day. I will not forget thee or leave thee, in my arms I'll hold thee, in my arms I'll hold thee. I will not forget thee or leave thee, I am my redeemer, I will care for thee. Why can I show my gratitude to Jesus, for his love of faith and his tender care? I will proclaim to his lovers his salvation, that they may accept him and his promise shared. I will not forget thee or leave thee, in my arms I'll hold thee, in my arms I'll hold thee. I will not forget thee or leave thee, I am my redeemer, I will care for thee. Trusting the promise, I will not forget thee, onward will I go with songs of joy and praise. Though my friends forsake me, Jesus will be near me, that I keep my faith. I will not forget thee or leave thee, in my arms I'll hold thee, in my arms I'll hold thee. I will not forget thee or leave thee, I am my redeemer, I will care for thee. When at the golden portals I am standing, all my tribulations, all my sorrows past, I speak to hear the blessed proclamation, enter faithful servant, welcome home at last. I will not forget thee or leave thee, in my hands I'll hold thee, in my arms I'll hold thee. I will not forget thee or leave thee, I am my redeemer, I will care for thee. Amen. Going to unite our hearts together in prayer, thinking of those precious promises of the Lord, that he is our redeemer, he will never leave us, never forget us, that he will strengthen us in our hour of need, that he will protect us, that he will preserve us, and that one day he will glorify us. So many precious promises in the word of God, and therefore we want to come as the children of the Lord tonight to give thanks onto him for giving us his word and those precious promises that it contains. Our gracious Lord and our loving eternal Father in heaven, we do want to still ourselves tonight in this meeting, we want to honour thee by coming into thy presence in the name of our Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ. We thank thee for the one who is the sacrifice for sinners, we thank you the one who is the mediator of the new covenant, and we thank thee for the one who was sinless, perfect, pure and holy, who was able to bear the sins of others because he had none of the one who satisfied the wrath of a holy God and the one who declares his people to be justified. We thank the Lord tonight for the wonderful declaration of heaven for each child of God. We can say tonight on the basis of scripture, I am his and he is mine. What a wonder tonight, oh Lord, that we could call the God of heaven and earth ours, and what a marvel that he would call us his. Thank you, Lord, for being in union with thee and we praise thee, Lord, that tonight we're in the place of worship. Lord, we've come to this house tonight to lift up our voices in praise. We've come to this house tonight to open thy word and hear thy servant teach the truth that it contains. I pray, oh Lord, tonight that thou will give much liberty to her brother. Pray, Lord, you'll bring to his mind the words that are necessary for this moment. We think of the scripture that talks about the message as a nail in a sure place. Lord, we pray that people will know tonight that the Lord has had a message for them, and not only will they know that there's a message for them, but they will gladly and willingly and immediately yield to God's will. Lord, we do not want to leave here tonight untouched by thy word, unchanged by thy spirit, and therefore we pray that the one who knowest all things will search our hearts tonight, and should there be that which is displeasing, we pray, oh Lord, that thou will deal with it tonight. Bring it to our minds that we might confess it, repent and put it under the blood. Lord, we ask thee that in these days we will be clean vessels and meet for the master's use. Thank thee for what our ears have heard already over this weekend. We thank the Lord for the gospel which was sounded forth in the Lord's day, and Lord, how is the people of God? We've a much deeper appreciation tonight of truly what the Lord has saved us from, and we thank the Lord we're of the necessity of reaching the lost with the truth of the gospel. Oh, Lord, give us give us the ability to be faithful stewards. Give us, oh Lord, the grace that is necessary to be godly people doing the work of God. Lord, we remind it we must work while it is day, for the night is coming when no man can work, and therefore, Lord, I pray you'll burn our hand at the command of God. Bless our dear brother, we thank you for him and his wife. Pray, Lord, that these meetings will also be a blessing to his heart, and Lord, that even as he would return home, Lord, he will know something of enjoying the fellowship among the people of God here. We pray for those watching online tonight. We thank thee for them, and we pray, Lord, that thou would minister wherever they be in this world, and that the speaking voice of God will be heard in this place online, and wherever this message is heard, and that what happens after they hear the word, the results will bring glory to God. Lord, we leave this meeting in its entirety in thy hands. Remember those, Lord, tonight of our loved ones who are not saved. We'd love them to be in a meeting such as this, but they're not they're not mine, and therefore, we pray, Lord, tonight that even as we would seek to draw closer to our God and to know more of his word, Lord, please send thy spirit out after our loved ones. Speak to their heart. Call them, we pray, and may even this night at work be started in their hearts that will unite our families in the Savior. Lord, we've been called for such a day as this, and therefore, we pray that you will make each life in this room count for eternity. Don't allow us to get to the end of our days and look back and have to say wasted years, but Lord, cause us to fully surrender, to go through with God, and to know God's best in these days. Bless us, we pray. Watch over as we ask, for it's in Jesus' name we pray these things and for his glory. Amen and amen. Once again, it's good to see everybody gathered here. We thank you for being with us. For those watching online, we welcome you in the Savior's name as well. We've one more meeting, and that is tomorrow night, and the theme is the Word of God. The Christian and the Word of God are guidance, and how we need the guidance of the Lord in these days, and our brother will be opening God's word and showing us something of the guidance of the Lord. Also, tomorrow night after the meeting, we'll be having supper together, and therefore, we ask those who are coming to bring eatables, and catering team number two will be serving the food, and we thank them in advance for that. We welcome our brother and his wife once again. For those who are visiting with us as well, we welcome you especially, and trust that tonight we'll know something of the drawing near of the Lord. We're going to sing one more hymn and hand over to your brother. 623, 623, God is here and that to bless us with the Spirit's quickening power, see the cloud already bending waits to drop the grateful shard. We'll stand and worship God.

Ed Del Beccaro Shares a Broker's Perspective on Economic Development

"Going to introduce Ed DelBaccaro of TRI Commercial Real Estate. Why are we talking to a commercial broker? Part of that is because for economic development to happen, there are multiple partners and a city has to get the perspective of a broker because they are the ones that look for not only the locations for cities, but the time to approve permits, the possibility of zoning and the problems zoning may. So I think you're going to find this an interesting take on how does a broker finding locations for clients, creating employment opportunities for cities. How do they want to work with cities and how could a city better work with that broker? Thank you for joining us on today's Capstone Conversation. Ed is the San Francisco Bay Area Regional Manager for TRI Commercial Offices. He is personally out of the Walnut Creek area, but the region serves San Francisco, Oakland and San Jose among everything in between those three cities. He specializes in office sales, medical, retail properties and mixed use space. He has over 40 years in the space. He is the vice chair of the East Bay Development Association. He is a board member of the East Bay Leadership Council, and he is a member of the Diablo Valley Tech Institute, among other things that he could talk about in his background. Ed, do you want to tell us a little bit more about yourself today? Thank Yes. you, Jared. As you mentioned, I've been in the real estate space 40 plus years, whether it's a commercial broker offering commercial record services, I've also been in the property management space where I ran a property management division, managed some of my own buildings. I also do project consulting, and I also do consulting to cities and some developers or tenants. So I went to school out here, stayed. I was a philosophy major, which is why I'm in commercial real estate, married with three kids and four grandkids. Great. And if our audience is wondering, why are we talking to a commercial broker today when we've been talking to mayors, city councilmen, chamber executives? Today is to get a broker perspective on economic development and the permit process. How could cities work with brokers? How can they partner with the real estate community to learn and better develop their cities into the best that they can be? That's actually a very good question. My day job is to assist companies in either relocating into our region or retaining companies. And the second part of the day job is to advise owners and developers where to invest and put their buildings. Where are the economic drivers going? What kinds of tenants and tenants are different? A insurance company is different from a bank is different from a life science is different from a advanced manufacturing. So there's all kinds of factors that go into that decision, whether you're the tenant, the user, or whether you're the developer owner who hosts the building. And it's not just I have a vacant piece of property or a vacant building, build it and they will come. So therefore, we live in the future as commercial brokers. We're looking at I just got off a Zoom call with a major hospital that I represent and we're talking about 225 and 230 timelines as to when we move and plan. And then what are the parameters and what is what do they need in terms of infrastructure and where? So we literally live two to five years down the road, which is the horizon of several of the economic development directors, so we can assist with that.

And checking out the top 100 crypto gainers of the past week, virtually 95 out of the top 100 cryptos are in the green. Some of the top gainers include GMX, GRT, as well as CRV and NEO. And checking out the crypto greed and fear index, we're currently rated at 46 in fear, same as 37 in fear. So there you have it. How many of you are pretty stoked for this most recent pump? And how many of you agree with Stacey Herbert that this pump is due to Bukele's speech scheduled for this evening? Let me know, fam. And now let's dive into today's Bitcoin technical analysis. Check out the charts and what's popping with the king crypto. Bitcoin could see fresh upside volatility as the price action and the strength revisits a key level according to a classic metric. In a new post, John Bollinger, creator of the Bollinger Bands volatility indicator, says Bitcoin was positioned for a breakout decision. That's right. After hitting new September highs the day prior, Bitcoin has been challenging resistance levels out of reach since mid -August, according to data from Cointelegraph and TradingView. Now for Bollinger, the signs for Bitcoin are encouraging. Bollinger Bands use a standard deviation around the simple moving average to determine both the likely price ranges and volatility. And as Michael Saylor once said, volatility equals life force. Now, currently Bitcoin is putting in daily candles that touch the upper band. And when this happens, it can signal an imminent reversal back to the center band, or conversely, an inbound fit of upside volatility. Now narrow Bollinger Bands seen on Bitcoin recently lend weight to hopes that the latter scenario will now play out, quitting him here. And then there is the first tag of the upper Bollinger Band. After the new set of controlling bars were established at the lower band, he commented alongside this chart, the question is now, can we walk up to the upper band or is it too early to answer? What are your thoughts, chat? Let me know in the comments below. Now Bollinger characterizes the current mood among seasoned Bitcoin traders and analysts on the short -term timeframes. Despite the strength seen this week, caution abounds as various trend lines previously acting as support remain above the spot price. Now discussing the situation, we had on -chain monitoring resource, material indicators share the following. We have heavy technical resistance overhead at the key moving averages and support at the lower low. It is quite possible that we round trip the range. And with any luck, we'll see a legit test of the RS levels that will give us some clarity on where Bitcoin goes from here before the end of the week. And they also shared here in update number two, as noted earlier, it appears the Bitcoin bulls are gaining some momentum, but things are not always as they seem and goes on to share that sometime after last night's candle and close open, we've seen a new trend precognition signal develop on the daily chart and it seems to be bullish. I mean, we are breaking out. We are above 27 ,000. So let's freaking go. And also more strong foundation on the technicals. You can see Bitcoin hits yet another all -time high, which virtually means the network has never been this strong and this secure. Now I'm pretty stoked to tune into President Bukele's speech to the UN this evening. What do you think he has to share besides? I told you so. Let me know, fam. And again, welcome to everyone just joining us for the live show. Lots to continue to cover. So let's continue breaking it down. Next, let's discuss this adoption fund, which is a pretty big deal coming out of Japan. Let's go check this out. Japan's largest investment bank, Numura's digital asset subsidiary, Laser Digital Asset Management, launched the Bitcoin adoption fund specifically for the institutional investors. Bring it. The official announcement noted the Bitcoin -based fund will be the first in a range of digital adoption investment solutions that the firm plans to introduce. Now Numura is a Japanese financial giant with over $500 billion worth of assets, which basically that's half a trillion, baby, offers brokerage services to leading institutional investors. The Bitcoin fund launched by its digital asset arm will now offer investors direct exposure to BTC. The Laser Digital Bitcoin Adoption Fund offers long key exposure to Bitcoin. The financial giant has chosen Kamanu as its regulated custody partner. The Bitcoin fund is a portion of Laser Digital Fund's segregated portfolio company that has been registered as a mutual fund in accordance with the Cayman Islands regulatory authority. Now, Laser Digital Asset Management head Sebastian said the Bitcoin is one of the enablers of this long -lasting transformational change and long -term exposure to Bitcoin offers a solution for the investors to capture this macro trend. Now, the Bitcoin adoption fund might be the first of its kind launched by Numura and the digital asset arm, but the Japanese investment banking giant has been investing in the digital asset ecosystem for quite some time already. In fact, September of last year, the firm launched its digital asset venture capital arm to stay at the forefront of digital innovation. And also won Dubai's virtual asset regulatory authority license to operate in the country. The long -only Bitcoin adoption fund for investors in Japan comes amid a growing discussion around Bitcoin -based investment products from regulated and mainstream financial giants. The United States SEC approved two Bitcoin ETFs, even though there is a delayed decision specifically on the spot. Bitcoin ETFs. What's up with that, Mr. Gensler? Just saying. And apart from the US, Canada and focused investment products over the past couple of years. So there you have it, mass adoption, let's freaking go, especially on the institutional level. How many of you are in Japan? I know we have some in our audience out there. Let me know. And have you ever heard of this company before? Any plans in investing through them? Let me know how you guys feel. And now let's break down the latest. It gets more surprising and shocking every day with what all is going on with Bankman -Fried and FTX. Now his parents are involved. His parents are being sued by FTX. And it's just a nightmare of a mess, to say the least. So let's break down this latest story regarding SBF. Now, Joseph Bankman, the father of the former FTX CEO, Sam Bankman -Fried, complained to his son about the salary he was receiving during his employment at FTX US, turning the issue into a family matter. In a September 18 filing with the US Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware, FTX debtors filed a complaint against Bankman and Barbara Fried, alleging that SBF's parents misappropriated millions of dollars through their involvement in the exchange's business. And according to the court documents, Bankman's contract with FTX US should have provided a $200 ,000 annual salary following a leave of absence from the Stanford Law School in December 2021. However, Bankman seemed to express ignorance about the terms of the contract, claiming to both FTX US and his son that he was expecting a $1 million annual salary. What about all that property in the Bahamas, fam? What about all that? Hundreds of millions worth of properties? Just wanted to throw that out there. The complaint states that Bankman was putting Barbara on this, suggesting that SBF's mother may have been able to persuade her son to follow through with the salary change. Things get even more interesting. So according to the complaint, Bankman's influence paid off, with SBF later providing his parents $10 million from Alameda Research. Can you talk about commingling? A 16 .4 million property in the Bahamas, funded by FTX Trading, the ability to expense roughly $90 ,000 to FTX Trading on the island nation in the Bahamas, and options to purchase company stock. Now, when reached out to the legal team representing Bankman and Fried, but did not receive a response at the time, unfortunately, the legal action brought by the debtors was the latest in the bankruptcy case involving FTX and many of its subsidiaries filed in November of last year. Bankman Fried also faces 12 criminal charges to be spread across two trials, starting in October of 2023, which is right around the corner, fam, and March of 2024, right before the halving, scheduled for April of next year. And since the federal judge revoked his bail in August, Bankman Fried has been largely confined to the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn. Where's Brooklyn at? Before the start of his October trial, then on September 19th, a three -judge panel heard an appeal from SPF's legal team requesting the former FTX CEO to be released from jail in order to prepare for the trial, citing the lack of internet access and first amendment issues. All I got to say is this, I mean, how many people realistically have access to the internet in jail? Why should he? Million dollar question right there. But what are your thoughts, fam? How do you think this is likely to play out? And do you think that Bankman Fried's parents are just as guilty as SPF himself with the commingling and the fraud of going up north of $30 billion, making it the biggest scam in history that we're aware of? Hence why we call him Mini Madoff, because he made off with billions of dollars worth of investors' money, and Gary Gensler and the SEC was protecting him behind closed doors. So it's going to be very interesting to see how all this is likely to play out. Now let's discuss post halving. We all know there is a halving scheduled roughly six months out. We all know post halving, the price action is most likely going to reach a new all -time high and enter price discovery mode. Well, this analyst shares a very intriguing target. So let's break this down, shall we? And welcome to y 'all just joining us. Say hello in that live chat. Let me know where you're tuning in from. I stream live here seven days a week from Puerto Rico. Synonymous analyst Rhett Capital tells his followers on X that Bitcoin can rally above $80 per ,000 coin in the months following next month's event. For the halving, send it. Let's go. The Bitcoin halving cuts the Bitcoin miners' rewards in half, as we all know, expected to take place in April of next year. And while Rhett Capital is a long -term bull on Bitcoin, he notes that it is possible for Bitcoin to continue its downtrend before the halving, putting him here. Hang in there and make the most of any deeper downside in this pre halving period. You won't see the post halving parabola in the outlines here in this chart. It shows you in the yellow, the pre halving period, then in the pink, the post halving resistance, and then in the green, you can see the post halving parabola when we hit those new all -time highs. Now, Rhett notes that Bitcoin may repeat its 2019 bear market cycle when it traded within a triangle pattern before breaking out and starting off the bull market, as he shares here, if Bitcoin continues to form lower highs, could Bitcoin fill the CME, which is the Chicago Mercantile Exchange gap, at $20 ,000 later this year or in early 2024? So it makes a good point. There is currently a gap sitting at that $20 ,000 psychological level. And he continues, if so, the possible path could be consolidation to the apex of the black triangle before finally breaking out to close the halving. And you can see that triangle right here in this chart. Now, looking at the chart, he seemed to suggest that Bitcoin will confirm the triangle breakout in April of 2024, followed by a rally towards his long -term target. Now, let me know your thoughts, chat. How many of you agree that Bitcoin is likely to break out to a new all -time high, entering price discovery mode in 2024, the year of the halving? Let me know. And what are some of your targets? I'd also like to point out that the Stock the Flow model and Plan B, creator of that model, he suggests a $100 to $1 million range price for the King Crypto post halving. We also have some very other bullish predictions, which I cover on a daily basis here on the channel. But I'd love to know your personal prediction. I think we reached the cycle peak personally sometime in 2025, but I think 2024, we enter that price discovery mode. But I'd love to know your thoughts and your opinions in the comments right down below. And now let's break down our next story of the day and discuss the latest from the macro guru, Raoul Pal, who is suggesting that the Bitcoin market cap and crypto market cap as a whole does something between 5 and 10x for this upcoming bull cycle. Now, you do the math. We have a crypto market cap right now. I'm going to ballpark it at a trillion. We have a Bitcoin market cap. I'm going to ballpark it at a half a trillion, which is 500 billion. So hypothetically, if we were to 10x Bitcoin in and of itself, we're talking about a 5 trillion dollar Bitcoin market cap, which would be half the current market cap of gold. Now, with the entire crypto market cap, we can potentially hit 10 trillion. Now, also note, back in November of 2021, when we hit that all time high of 69 ,000 in November of last year, the total crypto market cap was just north of that 3 trillion dollar market cap. So he's so let's break this down and shout out to Raoul Pal. Here we go. Former Goldman Sachs executive Raoul Pal says the next bull cycle can bring an explosion in the market cap of all of the digital assets. That's right. In a new interview with Altcoin Daily, the macro expert says he expects a huge increase in the adoption of digital assets, and that can cause the total market cap of crypto to skyrocket as much as 900 % from its current value during the next bull market. Quoting the analysts here, obviously, I think we'll go well through new all time highs. I think the whole ecosystem of crypto will go from 425 million users where we're at today. And I think at the end of this cycle, there'll be a billion users by that kind of use cases in which we have talked about. And let's not forget, we have got central bank digital currencies that are known as CBDCs and stable coins. There is a lot going on still. So if this entire space is going to grow 2 .5 X in the number of users, well, the market cap of the entire space is five or 10 X. Send it. Let's go. Pal also says he is closely watching development of layer two Altcoin projects for new use cases, which could boost the value of their individual market cap, quitting him again. And then let's see how people value layer twos in this. We don't really know how layer twos accrue much value. Do we have to have a massive amount of transactions in which case then you need stuff like Ticketmaster with millions and millions and millions of transactions to drive value to those chains because they batched them and batched them down to Ethereum. So there you have it. And to watch this interview, he did Raul Pal, the macro guru with Altcoin Daily entitled best cryptocurrency investing strategy into 2024. Check the show notes, blow the video in the description and let me know your thoughts on his personal prediction. Do you feel post having that the market cap for the entire crypto market can likely 10 X from the current valuation along with Bitcoin surging 10 X to roughly a five trillion market cap? And hypothetically, if the macro guru is correct, where do you think that would likely take the Bitcoin price? Well, let's run some hypothetical math. Bitcoin was the 10 X from the current price action of 27 ,000. Well, that's $270 ,000 per coin. Take that. And as we all know, Bitcoin rises like that, the entire crypto market cap would go along for the ride, including the altcoin. So please let me know in the chat, fam, which altcoins, if any, are you most bullish on in the crypto market? And what are your thoughts surrounding Raul Pal being so bullish on Solana? A few months back, I read in an interview he shared that 80 % or more of his portfolio was specifically in an altcoin called Solana. So I'd love to know your thoughts. Obviously, he has a high risk tolerance as I look at that particular cryptocurrency to be very risky, especially with all that went in with the venture capitalists and SPF and FTX exchange pumping that particular all. So I'd love to know how you feel regarding all of that. And with that being shared, fam, now let's discuss Peter Thiel and his $4 million price prediction, as well as rumor has it, and I'll be covering this as well, that he dumps most of his Bitcoin position at the top of the market practically 30 days before the crash. So let's break this down because Peter Thiel was actually one of the keynote speakers at the Miami Conference for Bitcoin. And here's what he had to share as I transcribed his speech, and then we'll discuss him reportedly making $1 .8 billion cashing out on his eight -year bet around the time he was touting these all -time high predictions. So here we go. He says, the enemy's list is a list of people who I think are stopping Bitcoin. He says there is a lot of them. They tend to have nameless, faceless bureaucratic perspectives, which of course is one of the ways they hide. He goes on to share, we are going to try to expose them and realize that this is sort of what we have to fight for Bitcoin to go up, 10x or 100x from here. Now, just FYI, to give you some perspective, at the time he made this prediction on stage at the Bitcoin Miami Conference, Bitcoin was trading at roughly $43 ,000 per coin. So you run the math. 43 ,000 times 100x is over $4 million per Bitcoin. So you know that? Let's continue with what he had to share. The central banks are going bankrupt. We are at the end of the fiat money regime. How many of you agree with that statement? I agree there 100%. The first person on the list is Berkshire Hathaway CEO, Warren Buffett. Thiel put up a picture of Buffett with two of his most famous quotes about Bitcoin. One was rat poison and the other, I don't own any and I never will. I also like to point out now since then, Warren Buffett has much indirect exposure to Bitcoin through Bitcoin mining stock companies and etc. So go figure. If you can't beat them, join them, right? And he goes on. He opined, I think the direct in it. Yeah, and I say also Charlie Munger goes along with him. Now, feel further noted that Buffett has a bias and makes him long on fiat money system and money managers who follow the Berkshire Hathaway executives advice will pretend it's complicated to invest into Bitcoin. I think we call that FUD. Fear, uncertainty and doubt. Now expect nothing less from one of the wealthiest people in the fiat money matrix Ponzi scheme. You know what I mean? So just saying. The next person on the list of Bitcoin's enemies is the one and only JP Morgan Chase CEO, Jamie Dimon, or as Max Kaiser calls him, Jamie the tapeworm. They'll put diamonds picture up with the following quote. I don't call them crypto currencies. I call them crypto tokens because currencies have rules of law behind them, central banks and tax with authorities. Now you guys already know how I feel personally about JP Morgan Chase CEO, Jamie Dimon. So I won't go any deeper there. But anyways, we know he's an enemy of Bitcoin and always has been. The next picture he put up was of the BlackRock CEO, Larry Fink, with the following quote. I see huge opportunities in a digitized crypto blockchain related currency, and that's where I think it is going to go. Now just FYI, Larry Fink is the CEO of the largest asset management firm in the entire world, which owns a large share in virtually all the companies in the S &P 500, and that is BlackRock. They currently have over $10 trillion in assets under management. And for a long time, he was spreading FUD regarding Bitcoin. But guess what? Like I mentioned earlier, if you can't beat them, join them because they just most recently, a few months ago, they submitted their application for a spot Bitcoin ETF, which ultimately means they're going to be introducing this to the institutions which have trillions upon trillions of dollars as there's currently north of $700 trillion in total addressable market, and they want their piece of the Bitcoin pie. So he goes on to share, the PayPal co -founder added that Fink's quote is somewhat representative of the whole genre of Bitcoin attacks that need further context, stating that pro -blockchain is an anti -Bitcoin term, very typically. Feel then brought up the environmental, social, and governance, ESG standards, elaborating the following, the label they have come up with, and perhaps the real enemy is ESG. I think that ESG is just a hate factory. Also like to throw out there, Elon Musk, he stopped taking Bitcoin payments for Tesla, and he says it's because of the FUD regarding this ESG, and we all know it's not more than FUD, and it's already been proven that Bitcoin is more than 50 % clean energy. So the million dollar question, when will the world's supposedly wealthiest man, Elon Musk, when will he start accepting Bitcoin payments again for Tesla? Isn't that a great question, and wouldn't you love to know the answer to that? Maybe you should ask Elon and tag him on X and see what he says. Anyways, feel stressed. You can always ask the question, what's the difference between ESG and the CCP, the Chinese Communist Party? Well, when you think ESG, you should be thinking of CCP per H. Now, he also goes on to share, it is the finance gentocracy that runs the country through whatever silly virtue signaling or hate factory to them, just like ESG, the billionaire concluded. This is what I would call and what you have to think of as a revolutionary youth movement, and we have to just go out from this conference and take over the world. So there you have it, fam. What are your thoughts surrounding Peter Thiel's prediction that we are likely to 100X, and along with his enemies list, as it seems, a lot of the enemies have come around and now have direct exposure to BTC, but it doesn't stop there because around that time he was making this $4 million Bitcoin price prediction. He allegedly dumped most of his position cashing out and with over a billion dollars in profits for his fund. So let's also break this down as this is also very relevant. How many of you were able to watch the speech he gave at that Bitcoin conference? It was epic, to say the least. I recall it now. So here we go. Check it out. Peter Thiel's venture capital firm reportedly made $1 .8 billion closing out its crypto positions around the time when he was an early Bitcoin bull, still predicting the token's price to surge by 100X. And again, from 43 ,000 price action, 100X means over 4 million. Founders Fund had cashed out almost all of its bets on digital assets by March of 2022, according to the Financial Times report that cited people familiar with the matter. But Thiel was still backing Bitcoin, obviously, when he spoke at the crypto conference in Miami the following month. He went on to share where at the end of the fiat money regime, he said, adding that the token's price could increase 100 fold from its level at the time, which was reported at $44 ,000 per coin. That prediction was proven false and as rising interest rates and failures, the high profile firms like Celsius Network, Three Arrows Capital, FTX, Terra Luna dragged the crypto sector into the prolonged bearish winter. Now Bitcoin plummeted by over 60 % in 2022 and was trading at under 17 ,000 by the end of the year. And I believe the bottom currently for the cycle is 15 ,700. How many of you feel that that bottom is in? Let me know, chat. Founders Fund first started pouring money into crypto all the way back in 2014, when Bitcoin was only trading at roughly $750 per coin. So by the time Bitcoin reached its all time high in November of 2021, it had surged 8 ,500 % from that particular level. Not too shabby for a seven year run, wouldn't you say? Now Thiel has a long track record as one of Silicon Valley's most prominent tech investors. He took early stakes in startups, which include Facebook, Elon Musk's SpaceX, and ride hailing app Lyft, and even co -founded PayPal back in 1998. Thiel is also a high profile supporter of the Republican Party and continued to voice his support for Donald Trump since the former president left office in January of 2021. The fund held around two thirds of his portfolio in Bitcoin at one time, but now not has significant exposure to crypto according to FT's sources. So there you have it. Fam, what are your thoughts surrounding his prediction and him cashing out at around that time he was making those all time high predictions of 100X? Let me know, fam. How Does a Chamber of Commerce Work With a City to Attract New Business? Bob Linscheid and Judy Lloyd Weigh In

"How does the chamber and other business organizations work with the city to be that vehicle to attract businesses? Then maybe Judy, if you could continue and then Bob. So this is less about attraction and more about the things we're doing to incentivize businesses who are coming in. So we work with the town. We have a business marketing grant program that we work with on the, with the town. Any business coming into Danville would be eligible for, and it offers complimentary video and photo packages. And that's all town sponsored administered by the chamber. We could take up to 20 businesses. We're full for this year, but it's a program that we did last year and did a great job and they're all featured on our website. So every business that's a chamber member gets their own page, which shows their video shows their photos. And so that's an incentive for people to not only join the chamber and be part of our community, but to come to Danville. We also run our merchant to the market program, which is our farmer's market, which allows our businesses to display at the farmer's market. And we're actually looking to do some more things to expand the Danville farmer's market. So that's one thing. And then some of the other things we're doing that I can go into later, but one, I do want to talk about it a little later in the program is our new women's enterprise initiatives. So we've got a lot of different things. We work with the town on largely on grads programs, festivals. When I say festivals, I mean the lighting of the old Oak tree, which is the kickoff of our shopping season. So we work with them on some of the bigger events. We have health and wellness day coming up where we're going to have some local celebrities. So there's lots of different things that we do to showcase Danville for the beautiful place it is. Bob? Yeah. So to get fundamental on you for a minute regarding the issue of attraction, our mission basically is to attract, support and grow business in the Walnut Creek region through advocacy, inclusive economic and business development. Those are just words. But when you work with a city of our size that has a, an economic development team of three plus people, we need to be, first of all, on the same page. And so our first initiative is to promote Walnut Creek as a premier East Bay location for corporate and satellite locations, targeting finance, professional services and tech. And tech could also include medical because we have such a strong medical presence. We're evaluating and investigating the possibility of forming essentially a wellness corridor along Nayshow Valley Road as an example. We discovered that the two cancer centers that are going in here will generate between 120 and 150 ,000 additional square footage just as a result of those two functions. When you talk about business attraction, I think it's important to talk about jobs and economic development is defined as the creation or retention of jobs. So we're focusing on some of the bigger roles, even though some of the smaller retail efforts are real important. Auto, the new auto industries is becoming very prevalent here. We're going to see some different things happening with the Toyota area of Walnut Creek. And so these are all about business attraction, but you have to have a unified voice of what we are as a community and we're developing that with our cities.

142: The Meuse-Argonne Offensive (pt.1) The Lost Battalion - burst 2

"Charlie commands the 1st Battalion of the 308th Regiment in the 77th Division, aka the Statue of Liberty Division. The division commander is General Robert Alexander, and though a man of action, he's not the strongest leader or strategist. Indeed, his own superior officer, 1st Corps Commander General Howard Liggett, has actually wondered if Robert's promotion over the Statue of Liberty Division was a clerical error. Be that as it may, the 77th Statue of Liberty Division is now positioned to the right of the French, on the far left of the Muse -Argonne American sector, and this hard -nosed general is determined that his doughboys will drive the Germans back. Damn the costs. For Charlie's battalion, mostly rough and tumble Lower East Side melting pot New Yorkers, peppered with freshly arrived Westerners to replace their fallen, this means advancing a little less than a mile northward into the thick Argonne Forest, up the Charlevoix Ravine, taking the main German line, then pushing to the other side of the Charlevoix Valley to take a road and railroad on the next ridge.

A highlight from All-In? We're Out: Why the All-In Podcast is Bad for America

"Welcome back everyone, I am Cas PNC, I'm joined as usual by my partner in crime, Mr. Bennett Tomlin. How are you today? Well I was just able to get out of a position in some unvested tokens I wasn't really a fan of anymore, so I'm feeling pretty good all things considered. That's awesome news man, I hope it wasn't Cas coin. We are, he's bringing up that topic because we're talking about possibly four of my least favorite people in the entire world today. We are talking about the hosts of the All In Podcast. Now if you're unfamiliar with the All In Podcast, god bless you. You probably just want to turn this off and skip it because you know what, you should never ever listen to them and just move on with your life. However I think a lot of people, especially people who listen to our show, are likely familiar with the All In Podcast and the hosts who are, let's go through them one by one, Chamath Palihapedia, Jason Calacanis, David Sacks, and David Friedberg. Now I decided that we needed to do an episode about these gentlemen because Chamath has been an asshole on Twitter a lot lately, and that's it. He basically, he triggered me to force Bennett to discuss these fellows. So I'm going to go ahead and just jump into that, which was he tweeted at this guy who said, hey man, I'm not using exacts here, but this guy basically said, hey man, how's it feel to be a billionaire after having made all this money off the backs of retail investors and scammed a bunch of people with your dumbass SPACs? SPACs are Special Purpose Acquisition Companies, that's what it stands for. It was this, I guess it's still going on kind of, but it was a bit of a fad over the time, onto stock exchanges, whether it was the, you know, New York Stock Exchange or NASDAQ or whatever. And Chamath was one of the people doing it all the time, and almost all of them had basically just done terrible. So this person asked Chamath this question and Chamath's response was, I'm in the arena, as though he's a goddamn gladiator in Roman times, which is just unreal. Like, we don't know at all, like comparing any of our existences to what it was like for gladiators in the arena, especially a billionaire who's just investing in shitcoins and fucking, and crappy investments, like what an unreal statement. You're not allowed to say you're a man in the arena until you lead the Rough Riders in the Spanish American War, everyone knows the rules. I even read a substack this past week where someone who notoriously sides with venture capitalists, like a journalist who basically writes for venture capitalists, even he was like, Chamath, what the fuck, man, like got to apologize for this. Like you, you are celebrating, you're celebrating shitting on retail investors. You're celebrating stealing money from the everyman and you're owning it. Like you're owning it, saying it's fine and suggesting that like you are the gladiator for destroying the common man. And it's just like such a weird flex. Well, and just to kind of add on to that, did you realize just how much money he made from some of his specs? Oh, it's almost a billion dollars. Yeah, like he sold his stake in Virgin Galactic for $213 million. It's now down like 95 percent from peak or something like that. Clover, he had an original $25 ,000 investment that he sold for $290 million. And it's also down like 94 percent from peak. He made a ton of money on these companies, which the market seems to have determined as soon as he dumped his stakes were effectively valueless. And I know he was involved in SoFi or whatever, too, which is doing better than these ones. But it struck me at just how massive those numbers are. Do you remember during the GameStop mess when Robinhood closed down their trading for a little bit, he sent a bunch of people over to SoFi saying like, Robinhood is selling your order flow to Citadel Securities. You should come trade it SoFi instead. And of course, SoFi was selling all their users order flow to market making firms. Anything for cash. So I fucking fly home from Italy. From Italy. Get back in the arena. At 35 ,000 feet, I decide to troll the mids. We'll talk about that later. But anyways, sipping a beautifully chilled white burgundy. So that was his first kind of strike recently, recent strike. But then he did something that really fucking pissed me off. And this is you got to go on this show. You got to join Joe Wiesenthal and Tracey Alloway, who host the Odd Lots podcast, which if you're not subscribed to, fantastic podcast, go listen to it. It's really like if you're interested in any random finance topic, they probably covered it and you should find that episode and listen to them because they're super informative and fantastic. Someone said, because Joe posted, Joe posted on Twitter and said, one of Chamath's SPACs had gone down 93 % since he had shilled it. And someone said, oh, and someone, yeah. And someone said, okay, so Chamath, are you going to go on the Odd Lots podcast? And he said, why would I go on a podcast no one listens to? Which is just like, dude, not only is it obviously not true, this is one of the most listened to financial podcasts in America, in the world, but also is just so cringe to have that as your response. It's so like, I'm rubber, you're glue kind of fucking kitty bullshit that it incensed me enough to be like, we got to talk about these guys. I fucking hate these guys. So that's where we are. Where do you want to start with these fellows? Because there's a lot, there's a lot here. It's almost overwhelming to go over some of the details about these things. So I think we kind of just need to start a little bit with some of their backgrounds, right? David Sacks and Jason Calacanis are both members of the PayPal mafia, right? They were executives involved in various ways with PayPal. And when that was initially bought out, this group, including Peter Thiel, Elon Musk, Reid Hoffman, and a bunch of these other folks became very important in Silicon Valley because they were rich. And that's how you become important in Silicon Valley. Since then, they have two varying degrees and slightly different depending on which member of the mafia you're talking about, grown in self -importance to an almost preposterous degree. And what I think is especially striking about many members of the PayPal mafia is they have not shied away from using their money to get involved in other things, especially politics and other societal issues. For David Sacks and Peter Thiel, this dates back to the book of rape apologia they wrote in college. For Jason Calacanis, he's involved in a variety of nonsense political movements. David Sacks is contributing to a bunch of idiots in various political races that he wants to support. And broadly, many of these individuals have shared opinions that range from the stupid to the abhorrent throughout their entire careers with extra consideration given to these meaningless thoughts because of their wealth. And I think that's kind of really the issue with them is that they are given consideration for stupid objectively things because they are objectively wealthy people. Yeah, it's kind of a double edged sword here, actually, because I think that in some sense, these guys represent to retail and, you know, plebes like us, these guys represent, you know, these are the wealthy, these are the wealthy people, they're speaking on behalf of the wealthy people. And then on the other end of that, I think it's funny because it's not like, not that I think venture capitalists in general kind of suck. But the truth is that not all venture capitalists suck, and not everyone in Silicon Valley sucks. However, these guys, by being the loudest, most obnoxious people coming out of venture capital and coming out of Silicon Valley, they become the voice of all the venture capitalists. And so now they represent those people, whether they like it or not. And so here it is, it's this double edged sword. On one hand, you have retail going, oh, these guys speak for all venture capitalists. And then on the other, you have venture capitalists going like, I wish these guys didn't speak for us, but they do. And I think the other thing is just how much of their shtick is like just so clearly a performance, right? Like we're talking about billionaires and centimillionaires. I'm not sure if they've all hit the billion mark, Friedberg especially. But these are incredibly wealthy individuals. And in their last podcast episode, I think it was the last one, they spent 40 minutes reacting to the song Rich Men North of Richmond. And because of this, the top 20 percent, the top 5 percent have acquired an outsized amount of the assets and outsized amount of the income, as we all know and have all benefited from. And the vast majority of Americans that have been working, I have a question for Friedberg. Friedberg, do you think that we should implement policies to change the lines on this graph? That's exactly what I was going to ask. Yeah, right. Which is them.

How Pleasant Hill Plans to Boost Economic Activity With Councilwoman Sue Noack

"Development is always a question I ask, what is Pleasant Hill doing to attract new business as to the city? Whether a it's new restaurant, a storefront location or an employment center, what are some of the things that Pleasant Hill is doing to attract those customers? So really what we're focused on right now is bringing back the businesses from COVID, right? And we lost some businesses in that and some were struggling, and so we want to bring that back. So there are two things that we're doing with some of our IRPA funds. And one of them is this Pleasant Hill perks card concept, right? So if you buy a Pleasant Hill perks card for 100 bucks, the city gives you 50 out of our IRPA funds. And so you can only spend it on those organizations or entities within Pleasant Hill. So that's trying to bring money into our businesses that survive COVID and that still exist. The other thing we did is we use some of the IRPA money to provide grants to businesses that may have not had as much of an online presence as was so helpful during COVID. So we have a grant program so business can apply for grants to get assistance dollar wise and also connections to other entities to provide them with that assistance to make their online presence better. So those are two things. The other thing that we focus on is making our city vibrant so people want to move into our city, right? And that's keeping the roads nice. We have free parking. We don't have meters anywhere in our city at all. And that's a big deal. A lot of people like to come to a city where they don't have to worry about paying for parking. And so we get a lot of people from outside Pleasant Hill coming into Pleasant Hill. So those are some of the things we're doing that are more soft items, making the city just more pleasant. Downtown is being redone. Some of the owners of downtown are redoing a plaza to make it more friendly for people to come and take food and sit outside and relax and chat with people. So there's work being done there as well. So I think there's a lot of good work being done. We're never going to be a super big retail site. We're just not big enough. We have some on the edges, right? So the Coles Crossing area is a good shopping area and then up by Target and Safeway. Those are Pleasant Hill. The Sun Valley Mall is not, but further west of that is Pleasant Hill again. So those areas we want to make sure traffic can flow. That's tricky up there. We're 680 and Contra Costa Boulevard are, but trying to make those entities vibrant as well as making sure people can access them easily and get there. So those are our bigger retail areas. So, and we have an economic development person who spends a lot of time talking to businesses that might have an interest in coming into Pleasant Hill. And I think as everybody is facing, there's a change in how people buy things these days, right? Whether they go online or whether they go to the store. And so we have to look at those changes and see what services still require bricks and mortar. And that's what we need to attract.

Delicious Vegan Birthday Cakes Are Surprisingly Easy to Make!

"Art and I, my husband and I, have been married now for 41, almost 42 years, and we're both Virgos. Imagine that, two perfectionists. Aye. But every September, our birthdays roll around only 10 days apart. So this year marks our first birthday celebrations as vegans. So of course, because I am so enjoying this new culinary road that I'm on, I had to experiment with baking a vegan birthday cake. And let me just say, not only was it super simple, but the end result was, muah, chef's kiss, delicious. So there are a couple of ways of doing this, the made from scratch version and the lazy version. And honestly, I think it depends a lot on your mood and energy level, at least it does for me. I mean, there are days that I cannot wait to be in the kitchen, slicing, dicing, cooking, baking, blah, blah, blah. But there are most definitely days when I am exhausted from other projects and I just want to prepare something really quick and easy. The best part of baking vegan cakes is that you can have it both ways. So I'm speaking from experience when I say that I did experiment with both the made from scratch version and the super lazy version of this cake. And I will admit that both versions were really, really good. The upside to baking from scratch, of course, is that you can avoid all those nasty chemical ingredients that they put into the commercial cake mixes. And if you don't believe me, ooh, check out their label, their ingredient labels, eek. I mean, they are downright scary, but as far as taste and consistency go, either one of those versions would win a prize for moistness, deliciousness, scrumptiousness. I mean, they both taste really good. So what I did for my made from scratch cake was I took a simple white cake recipe and I substituted vegan ingredients, super easy. So for example, when a recipe calls for eggs, you have a couple of really great vegan options. You can use either unsweetened applesauce, like one ounce would equal one egg. And I did this way back even before I was a vegan. If I had applesauce and I was out of eggs, I could substitute applesauce really easily. Or you can do what I did for this cake and use one 2 .5 ounce carton of silk non -dairy vanilla yogurt. So you just take it out of the fridge about an hour before you start your cake so that it's closer to room temperature and it works great. It's super easy to spoon it right out of the container and into your mixture. I mean, super simple. So when a recipe calls for butter, I simply substitute vegan butter in the same measurements. I like to use Country Crock plant -based spreads. It's the one that you buy in the cubes. They're easier to measure when you buy the cube butter in the box. And then of course, when a recipe calls for milk, I just substitute almond milk. I've tried all the other plant -based milks and they're all good. But honestly, what I have found to be the closest in consistency to real milk is the regular unsweetened Almond Breeze brand. That's the one that is my all -time favorite. Now with this cake for Arthur's birthday, I have this really beautiful Bundt cake mold. And so I decided to make a Bundt cake. I don't usually do that for birthdays, but you know, this year's a little different. So the icing recipe that I've listed with the cake, with the cake recipe, is in measurements that are to make icing for a drizzle, to drizzle over a Bundt cake. If you decide that you want to make a layer cake, you'll need to probably double the measurements in the chocolate icing recipe. But honestly, making the Bundt cake was a great decision because it looked absolutely gorgeous. I mean, it was like a mountain with chocolate lava pouring down the sides. And when he saw it, he was just like, oh my gosh, look at that. It is so beautiful. And then the icing, I mean, the recipe for the icing, it is such a decadent treat. I use Confessioners, excuse me, Confectioners sugar, along with pure unsweetened cocoa powder, a little bit of softened vegan butter, some vanilla extract, and five or so tablespoons of almond milk. So if you're going to make a drizzle icing, you know, for your Bundt cake, you'll want to thin it out with the almond milk. If you decide that you want a thicker spreadable frosting, hold off on the almond milk and add just one tablespoon at a time as you're mixing to get exactly the right consistency that you need.

A highlight from Matthew: Emmanuel (Which Means God With Us)

"You know, there is a world of difference between saying to someone that I am for you and telling them that I am with you. These two things do not mean the same thing. There's a world of difference between telling someone, I'm for you, I'm in your corner, I'm rooting you on, you've got this. There's a world of difference between telling someone that and telling them, I'm with you. In World War I, there was a lieutenant. His troops were getting ready to go over the edge. They were ready to take on the enemy. They were ready to cross the trenches. And this lieutenant, he's anxious. He's nervous about what might happen, and he sees a commander coming down through the trenches. The commander looks at this man, and he can see the anxiety. He can see the nerves there, and so he comes alongside him, puts his arm on him, and he points out. He points out to where they're going. He points out to no man's land. And he tells them, when we go out there, I'm going to be with you. We're going to do this together. And that gave the younger man a sense of confidence. It wasn't the old grizzled veteran just saying, you got this, from a distance, and go do it. Rather, he was saying, I'm going to be with you as you do it. I'm with you in the trenches, and I'm going to be with you in the battle yet to come. As we said, it's one thing to tell someone I'm for you. That's easy. You can do that to anyone. It's another thing to say, I'm going to invest myself in the outcome of what you're going through. I'm going to enter into the crucible of your pain with you, at your side. There's a comfort when a commander or a general does it, but how much more so when a god does that. When god not only gives us a word and says, hey, you got this. I'm for you. I'm in your corner. But rather when he says, I am with you as you face this. There's something encouraging about that. In today's text, it's exactly what we see. In today's reading, the birth of this child, the one who had come from a throne down to a manger. In this text, we see that this one was to be named Immanuel. That this one was the fulfillment of Old Testament prophecy. And that his name literally means God with us. God with us. Not just God for us, but God with us. Verse 23 of our text will say, behold, the virgin shall be with child and bear a son. They shall call his name Immanuel, which means God with us. This is one of the primary attributes, one of the primary things that makes our god cool, that makes our god awesome. One of the primary things is because he didn't just create the cosmos, spin it like a top, and then go off and watch us from a distance to see how things would turn out. Rather, from the get -go, from Jump Street, from the garden, that which he created, he dwells with. He creates Adam, he creates Eve, and then he walks and talks with them in the cool of the afternoon. The pagan gods didn't do this sort of thing. They didn't pay attention necessarily to everything that was going on. The god of the deists, the people who think that God is just this aloof god out in the cosmos somewhere that has nothing to do with us, who wants that kind of god? Thank God that's not the god we have. Rather, we have a god who is with us in the midst of everything we're going through. This was true in the garden. It was true at Sinai. It was true in the tabernacle. It was true in the temple. That's true for even us as New Testament believers because where does God reside now? God is with us. Do you know how the book of Matthew closes? Do you know what the very last verse is? Here we see as Jesus is introduced, his name means, I'm with you, God with us, the very last verse in the book of Matthew, the very last block of text in the book of Matthew says the same thing. In the Great Commission, we see this. Go therefore, make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son, the Holy Spirit, teaching them to serve all the things I've commanded you, and lo, I am with you even to the end of the age. You see that? There's a bookend. The moment Jesus is introduced in chapter 1, the message is that God has come down from the throne to be with his people. And then prior to his ultimate ascension, he says the same thing because I'm going to leave my helper. Oh, and by the way, I am with you even to the end of the age. That's a God we can love. That's a God we can worship. A God who is not just for us but a God who is with us. All right, if you would, let's look at verses 18 and 19. We're going to talk about the God who is with us as we see of his birth. In verses 18 and 19, we're going to see what was going on with Mary Joseph, and then we're going to work our way through the text as time will allow. Okay, verses 18 and 19. Now the birth of Jesus Christ was as follows. After his mother Mary was betrothed to Joseph, but before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Spirit. Then Joseph, her husband, being a just man and not wanting to make her a public example, was minded to put her away secretly. All right, at the start of this passage, we see something just very ordinary, something as natural as natural can be. There's a woman, an individual who's pregnant, a pregnancy that will lead to childbirth. Very natural, happens all the time. However, in these verses, we see that there's something unnatural or at least unusual that's going to take place. Verse 18 adds an unordinary qualifier. It says that there's going to be a pregnancy, normal, but in this case it will occur without physical union. Now I'm not a physician, but I have studied anatomy and the like, and I know that's just not the way that this works. Well, verse 18, we're seeing the seeds for something that we call the virgin birth, and this is one of the most important things to understand with regards to Christ's birth, with regards to the incarnation, because this is not an average everyday event. Rather, this is a miracle, and it's not just a miracle, but it's a fulfillment of prophecy, because Isaiah said this is the way it was going to go down. Behold, there be a virgin who would give birth to a child. Now verse 18 clarifies it. It's not Joseph's child, and for these verses, we know this much. They're betrothed, but there's been no physical union then. Now if you've seen Fiddler on the Roof, you remember the matchmaker? Remember the matchmaker? Well, they had similar things throughout Jewish history. They would have a season in which people were brought together. This was tradition. They were brought together by matchmakers and parents and others. They were put into a union, and yet there was a year. I know you want to sing it. There was a year of time after they were brought together in which they were sort of betrothed. We might consider it engaged. It's not really a point -for -point analogy, but they were betrothed. They spent a year in this estate prior to physical union. That's what's going on here. It's actually much stronger than an engagement. This is a strong relationship that they have, and yet it has not been consummated physically at this point. And so, all of a sudden, out of the blue, Mary is with child. Uh -oh. Now, we have lost touch with the word scandal. We really have. I mean, dear heavens, everything is a scandal. It doesn't matter what news. Whatever you pick up, there's a scandal on every page from every direction. It seems like every aspect of celebrity or politics or athletics or what have you, scandal, scandal, scandal. We've lost touch with it. In fairness, it didn't always used to be this way. If you're watching a TV show, if Barney Fife stole part of Andy Griffith's sandwich, they can make a whole scandalous episode out of that. There was things in the past that seemed scandalous at the time that now it's absolutely nothing. We've lost touch with scandal to the point we look at this text, and we don't understand what Joseph's going through. And his culture and his time, what he and Mary were just experiencing. She's pregnant, and there's no father. There's been no physical union. He is betrothed to someone who's pregnant, doesn't know what's going on. This was a scandal of scandals. And in his day, based on an understanding of Deuteronomy, this could even have led to her death. This was not a small thing. This is a huge, huge event that's taking place. And so, in verses 18 and 19, we see Joseph in the middle of a conundrum. He's betrothed to this individual who has this situation going on. He doesn't know how it happened. He doesn't know exactly what's going on, but he has concern. Now, he cares for Mary enough that he doesn't want to see this become the public spectacle that it otherwise very well could be. And so he attempts to find some way to accommodate her well -being, but apart from being able to marry her, because he's a just man, and there's obviously been in his mind an infidelity that's taken place that would disqualify that union. Now, before he could act on that impulse, an angel intervenes. Let's look at verses 20 and 21 to see what happens in this intervention. Verse 20, but while he thought about these things, while Joseph thought about all this, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take to you Mary your wife, for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit. And she'll bring forth a son, you shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins. All right. As we said in verses 18 and 19, Joseph and Mary, Mary is now pregnant. Joseph is trying to figure out what to do. And in verse 20, we see that while he's contemplating, which I'm sure this took some time for him to work this through, but while he's thinking about these things, he goes to sleep. He's worried, he's anxious, he falls asleep, and in the midst of his sleep, an angel of the Lord comes to him in a vision, in a dream. And this happens at other intervals as scripture as well. And when the angel comes to Joseph, it's a simple message. It says, Joseph, what you think has happened is not accurate. But let me tell you, you're worried you should take Mary as your wife. You shouldn't be. Do not be afraid to take Mary as your wife, for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit. Now, I don't know what kind of theologian Joseph was at this point. We believe him to be older than Mary, but we don't know what kind of theologian he was. But whatever his theology was, he probably didn't fully understand that last statement. That which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit. Joseph didn't have John Calvin around to explain all the Trinitarian implications of this. And I imagine Joseph had more questions than answers, even when he hears this news. And yet he knew this much, even if he didn't have all the Trinity figured out at this time, even if he doesn't know what it means for the Spirit to overshadow her, even if he's still going, what does that mean? He at least knew this much, that Mary's pregnancy was not a function of her sin. He knew that there was not some other father in some tent down the street. He knew that the child that she was pregnant with was from God. And some way that he probably couldn't fully articulate, but he knew it was from God. And then God, through the angel, tells Joseph what to name him. Now naming rites in Jewish culture or any culture come from seats of authority. If you think about it in the garden, in the garden, Adam and Eve, you know, they're given the garden and all the animals are frolicking about as animals do. And Adam and Eve had a job, they actually had a couple of jobs. One was to take dominion over that which God had given them, and another thing was to do what for the animals? To name them, right? The greater names, the lesser, right? That's why parents named children are not children naming parents. Kind of glad it doesn't work that way. In this case, we see that God himself, through the angel, takes ownership over the name of his own son. It's not up to Joseph to name. He says his name will be Jesus. His name will be Jesus. We'll see that a little bit more in the verses yet to come. Whatever the case here is, the idea is that as this child is born of the Holy Spirit, this child comes with a purpose. His name will be Jesus because Jesus means what? It means the Lord is salvation. His person is yoked to his work. The angel identifies his person and his origins from God, the Holy Spirit, but he also identifies here's what he's come to do, and we're going to see that a little bit more in the verses yet to come. What we're also going to notice here, just a minute, is that when the angel talks about who will come to save his people from their sins, remember last week we talked about this. The people didn't necessarily have a problem with their sins. You know what the great irony is? You give someone a cure for a disease they don't think they have. If you come running up to someone on the streets of Gulfport with a vial of some cure, some medicine, or what have you, for a disease they don't understand they got, they'll just say, you crossed the other side of the street. They won't care because they don't recognize what you're holding is the cure for a problem that they have. The same is true with sin. The culture around us doesn't really think they have a problem with sin, and if they do think sin is a problem, they do this thing that's convenient. They redefine sin to be something that is external to them, a problem other people have. Whatever the case, when people had no understanding that they need to be saved from sin, if anything that they need to be saved from, it was going to be from Rome, which is what we talked about last week. Their fear, their concern, Joseph's concern, Mary's concern, the people down the street's concern was not so much that, oh, my sin is going to get me. And yet, that was the spiritual guillotine that was over their necks and ours apart from this child that was born. Every man, woman, and child has stood condemned under sin. You read the Book of Romans, the first five, six chapters, as Paul is condemning the human race and saying, well, this is our problem. Then, of course, he introduces the solution. Well, the angel introduced the solution too and says, this one has come not just to make your life better, not just to pour a little Jesus seasoning on things to give you your best life now. This one came to this end, to this object, to save you from your sins, to save you from a problem that you might not even understand that you have and that our culture certainly doesn't understand it has. That's why he came, and here's the thing. That's what the whole Old Testament said he would do. The Old Testament said when he shows up, when the Messiah we've been waiting from since Genesis 3 .15, when the seed shows up, he will come to save people from their sins, not what they were looking for in the first century, not what they were looking for in the 21st century. And yet the Old Testament prophecy said that's the guy to look out for, one who is not what you expect, one who will come to save you from your sins, one who is not going to come down on a red carpet from God, but will be born in a place like a manger. Isaiah 53, one of the most famous chapters that speaks to these issues, says this. This one would be wounded for our transgressions, bruised for our iniquities. The chastisement for our peace would be upon him. By his stripes we'll be healed. All we like sheep have gone astray. We have turned everyone to our own way, and the Lord has laid upon him the iniquity of us all. The angel got it, and he says in the manger, Joseph, and in the womb of Mary right now is the one that has come to do just that. And the cruel irony is the people won't be looking for that. As he gets older, they'll reject him. They'll reject what he came to do, and yet this is the one. This is the child. All right, let's take a look now at verses 22 through 25 and just kind of build on this case. Okay, verse 22. So all this was done, that it might be fulfilled, which was spoken by the Lord through the prophets, saying, Behold, the virgin shall be with child and shall bear a son. They shall call his name Immanuel, which is translated God with us. Then Joseph, being aroused from sleep, did as the angel of the Lord had commanded him, and took to him his wife, and did not know her until she had brought forth her firstborn son, and he called his name Jesus. All right, as we just said a moment ago, Christ's person is yoked to his work. The great problem in our age is that our culture doesn't do the same thing. At Christmastime in December, you just watch, people don't have a real problem with the person of Jesus so much. They like cute Jesus, even divine Jesus. That's not really the problem. The problem is his work. He came to convict us of our sins, to turn our hearts to God, to cause us to repent, and to rescue us from sins that most of us don't acknowledge that we have. But in this text, the angel spells it all out. He says this is the reason he's coming. This is the reason he's coming, in order to save them from their sins. And as he saves them from their sins, he will be the fulfillment of prophecies that said he would do just that, which is why even the angel quotes the Old Testament here. End of verse 23. Behold, the virgin shall be with child, shall bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel, which is translated God with us. There's a continuity you're supposed to see with that which is written down recorded in the Old Testament and that which comes on the scene here in Matthew chapter 1. God wants us to see that, and Matthew was desperate that his contemporaries saw it. Remember, their problem when they killed Jesus was they didn't recognize him for who he was. I mean, they had other issues too, but that was chief among them. They just didn't know what they were doing. Isn't that what Jesus said? Father, forgive them. They don't know what they're doing. Same idea. They had a Messiah on their radar that they wanted, and it wasn't this one, this guy. So at Matthew, when he's writing chapter 1, when he's writing to the Jews, he started with the genealogies we talked about last week, and he said, all right, this Jesus is going to be a son of Abraham, which makes him a Jew, and it's going to be a son of David, which makes him a king, or in the line of kings. His objective was to tell the Jewish audience who this Jesus was. Well, here, as chapter 1 continues, he gives the biography even more so, and he says that this one, this Jesus, which means God is salvation, is also named Immanuel, which is an Old Testament prophecy that means God with us. Matthew's making the case, even here in chapter 1, clearly in chapter 1, to a Jewish audience, that this is the Jewish Messiah. Now, would that be compelling? Well, to some, yes. To others, not so much. Now, the past 15 minutes or so, we've quoted Isaiah a few times. I think I referenced Malachi as well, but there in verses 22 through 25, we see the reference again to Isaiah more acutely, more specifically, and this is a reference that to the Jewish audience should have resonated with him, but again, as we just said a moment ago, the irony is that it didn't. The reason that's ironic is this. Matthew knew that many of his fellow Jews had rejected Jesus while simultaneously longing for a Messiah, and his objective here in chapter 1 is to say, hey, guys, they're the one and the saint. The one you rejected is the one you were looking for, and that's what Peter does in Acts 2. He tells the Pharisees, you know the one you killed, the one you nailed to a tree, the one you hung on the cross? That was him, and when they finally get it in the book of Acts, when they finally get that, what happens to them? Scripture says they're just broken to the heart because then they understand what they did. They understand that the light of life had come to them. They didn't recognize it, and then they killed them. As we look to wrap up, we're going to build on all these things as we head towards baptism, as we go towards the temptation, and the things that are going to follow in the book of Matthew, but as we wrap up, I want to return briefly to the word Emmanuel, which we've already established means God with us. Now, earlier I used the term, the term deus. Let me explain briefly. I know many of us know it, but let me explain briefly for those who don't. Every culture, when it comes to religion, there's two camps that they fall in. One, assuming that they believe in God at all, one is the camp of the deist. That camp believes God exists, but we can't know him. He formed the world around us, but then he went off and he does his thing and we do ours. That's deism. As Christians, we're not deists. The alternate is what we call theism. Theism posits that God exists, but you can know him, and what's more, he wants you to know him. You and I are theists, and if you drill into that term even more, we're monotheists. We believe in one God. We're not polytheists that believe in a lot of them. We believe that there is a God. You can have a relationship with him. There is a God and there is just one. Now, that's highly desirable because the alternative is you have a God you can't know that doesn't care about you, and that's what a lot of agnostics in our day do. They go, I think there might be a God somewhere, but they really don't think you can have a relationship with him. Who wants that? Who desires that? Well, the picture in Matthew 1 and throughout the book of Matthew, the picture that's painted here is completely different. It's not about a God who formed the cosmos and went away. Rather, it's a God who is ever -present with creation and undergoes the life experiences, the human experiences that we do up to and including birth. You have a God that can relate to you. You know, one of the greatest hardships or plagues on our age is the plague of loneliness. It's this idea that no one can relate to what I'm going through. The life circumstances have conspired in such a way that I'm going through something that no one can really understand, no one can really relate to, and then there's an isolation that comes with that, even a withdrawal. Maybe some people withdraw from us, and then we're left in this estate. Some of us, maybe many of us, are left in a state of loneliness, maybe for a season, maybe for a lifetime, and it's the hardest thing if you've experienced it. If that's you or someone you know, this message of God with us, and this word of manual should hold a special meaning. Others leave might us, others might forsake us, others might let us down, and yet the God who walked with Adam and Eve, when there was just two of them in the cool of the afternoon, walks with us still. Even we're just one of us. God is with us no matter what we're going through. He's not just munching popcorn, watching what you're going through this week. Some of us have a picture of God that He's up there in the clouds somewhere with a long beard, a long robe, and He's just kind of doing this to see what we do, and He's ready to punish us and the like, and He's there and we're here, and there's this distance. That's not the God of Scripture. The God of Scripture is a God who is intimate and close and wants to be close to you and wants your hand to fit in His. He doesn't call you a peon in the kingdom of heaven. He calls you a son or daughter, and that has meaning. What father or mother among us has not held the hand of our child and felt that proximity, felt that closeness, felt that bond, felt that unity that comes with holding your own? Well, that's what God wants with you. And even now, even if we've been fleeing from Him, His arms are open to this. He came as a babe and a manger, the most defenseless thing that you can possibly come. He came from a state of great glory into a state of great hardship, great difficulty. It would ultimately lead to His death, and yet He did it because He loves His people. He's not indifferent to us. He's not indifferent to us. The other problem that we can sometimes verge into is we can think that He's indifferent to me, but He's cool with other Christians, but I've done something that is so egregious or He knows my past or He knows the things I did yesterday because of that there's this gap. If there's any gap in your walk with God, it's not because He's drifted away from you. It's because you're pushing Him away. The God of this book does not withdraw from children, from sons and daughters, but He's like the parable of the prodigal son. His arms are open wide. Matthew 1, God with us. Matthew 28, God with us. Behold, I am with you even to the end of the age. Whatever you face this week, this book is not an abstract thing that just applies to other religious people or you on occasion. It applies to you today. God's with you as you face whatever you're facing, whatever hardship you're walking down, whatever valley you're traversing, God is with you, and that's a great encouragement of Scripture, and no other faith can present it except this alone. God is with us. We see it in Matthew 1. We're going to see it in Matthew 2 and the balance of the book. Let's pray. Join Dr. Toby Holt and Dr. Dominic Aquila for a tour of Israel in February of 2024. A highlight from LGM Podcast: Talking Football with Rich Brooks

"The football isn't going to change it because the mighty dollar is doing it all. The greed and, you know, let's face it, players are getting paid, coaches are making exorbitant salaries that make no sense, really, that make no sense. This is the Lawyers, Guns and Money podcast. Hello and welcome to the Lawyers, Guns and Money podcast. My name is Rob Farley. Here with me is my colleague Eric Loomis. Eric and I have the tremendous honor to have as a guest on this Guns and Money podcast, Coach Rich Brooks. His biography is long, but it involves being the head coach of the Kentucky Wildcats. It involves being the head coach of the St. Louis Rams, and most notably for us, the head coach of our beloved Oregon Ducks. Sir, it is a tremendous honor to have you here with us this afternoon. It's a pleasure to be with you. I wanted to start just by asking, I know that you live back in Oregon, and I hope that your place is safe from the fires. We have had a lot of smoke. I have a son that lives up the McKenzie River about 25 miles, and his house burned down in the fires two years ago, and the fires are close to his house again, but the good news is he can't get to it because everything else is burned around it, but it's been pretty smoky, and the wind has changed, and it should be a good day for Oregon football on Saturday when they open, as long as the wind continues from the north or the west. Well, let's hope so, and you know, part of the reason that we wanted to talk to you is this is such a transformative moment in college football right now. I mean, you of course coached Oregon for 17 years. You also played at Oregon State, and the fate of those two schools in the current conference realignment has differed, and Oregon and Oregon State, after playing against each other for over a century, all of a sudden that may not happen anymore, and I'm wondering from your perspective, what your thoughts are about realignment and the ways in which it's affecting these two schools that mean so much to you? Well, you know, people don't remember, but when I went to play at Oregon State, graduated Nevada Union High School in Grass Valley, California in 1959, and played freshman football that year, and then varsity football 60 -61 -62, and had the pleasure of playing on a pretty good team with Terry Baker, who won the first Heisman Trophy west of the Mississippi, but in those days, Oregon State was independent. It was not part of the PAC -8 at that time. The league broke up over money.

"Hey, I'm coming to you now from the basin. This is a special bonus teaching that I recorded just for you to break it down a little more, take it a little deeper. I hope you enjoy this overflow message. Let me know. Let's go. Sometimes you can tell how significant your calling is. By how much the enemy is intimidated by you. And you can tell how much he's intimidated by you, by how much he's talking to you. God said, I've tried to talk to you through an angel. That didn't work. But now I want you to go listen to your enemy. And Gideon goes down to the outpost, verse 11. I almost missed it again. This is the big verse, verse 11. And you shall hear what they say. And afterwards, your hand will be strengthened to go down against the camp. Did you catch that? God didn't say your hand will be strengthened when you hear what God says about you. Because the angel's been telling Gideon, you're a mighty warrior. The angel's been telling Gideon that God is with you. The angel has been saying, God is going to deliver the people through you. Gideon doesn't believe any of it. He said, so if you don't believe me, maybe you'll believe the enemy. Go down and listen to the enemy for a minute. And after you hear what your enemy is saying, your hand will be strengthened to go down against the camp. And then he went down with Purah his servant to the outpost of the men who were in the camp. And the Midianites and the Amalekites and all the people of the east lay along the valley like locusts in abundance. Ooh, there's a lot of them. And their camels were without number, so there's a lot of them. As the sand is on the seashore, in abundance, there's a lot of them. Everybody said there's a lot of them. Look, there's a lot of reasons to be afraid. There's a lot of reasons to fear. If you start listing them, you'll go crazy. But watch. When Gideon came, verse 13, behold, a man was telling a dream to his comrade. And he said, behold, I dreamed a dream. And behold, a cake of barley bread tumbled into the camp of Midian. Ooh, barley bread. Not very threatening, huh? And it came to the tent and struck it so that it fell and turned upside down so that the tent lay flat. And his comrade answered, this is no other than the sword of Gideon, the son of Joash, a man of Israel. God has given into his hand Midian and all the camp. You've got Gideon's hand, which is trembling. He's afraid. You've got Midian's hand, which has him trapped. And you've got God's hand, which is trustworthy. And God says, I am giving them into your hand. I don't know who this is for today, but God is saying, I want you to let go of what you think you need. I want you to let go of what you thought you were. I want you to let go of what you can't over. I want you to let go of it. I want you to go down toward the next thing I've called you to do. And watch what Gideon does. Gideon gets encouraged. He hears that. He's like, wait a minute. They're talking about me. I'm the barley. Yeah, that's not very impressive. No, no, no. It's not what the barley is. It's what the barley does. And he goes from trembling to tumbling. God said, let's go. That's the third one. Let's go.

"Everybody. So if you're a robot designer, right? One of the things like even back in his essay written in 1970, masahiro mori said, there's problems here with movement. There's problems here with the smile. It has something to do with the face, right? Yeah. And somebody else said, I don't remember who it was, but there always seems to be a lag time between how realistic a designer can make a robot and how realistic an engineer can make that robot look. Yeah. Right? And that disconnect, and Maurice mind was a big part of the uncanny valley, but he also seemed to focus on the smile on the eyes. And one of the things at stake, besides this just being like an interesting topic of discussion, like there are actual real world implications for this whole thing, right? Like if you're a robot designer, you want to create something that's not going to freak people out because the whole purpose of robots is to interact with humans and you want them to interact with humans, I should say life like looking at robots, right? Because like Ford Motor Company is ever going to buy an Android that looks human to just work on an assembly line when they can get the same thing that does the same job cheaper when it just looks like a robotic arm or something, right? The whole purpose of a life like looking robots because that robot is being designed to interact with humans. And if you are going to run into this spot, some people say it's not even a valley. Some people think it's insurmountable, a cliff or a wall. So if you're going to run up against this, you want to figure out how to overcome it because you don't want to creep people out with your creations. Well, and you don't want to spend a lot of money to develop a robotic Walmart greeter at every store.

"An animal reminder. People who are sensitive to that kind of thing tend to go off on the uncanny valley as well. And then people who are anxious are more likely to experience uncanny valley as far as mcdormand is concerned. Yeah, thanks interesting makes sense too, 'cause they're probably just more prone to be, I don't know, just have a reaction to a lot of things like this. Right. But we should say, the science and all this, the fact that the independent and the dependent variable are still not defined. The science is this, this is like the scientific equivalent of that backward over the head, half court basketball shot. Yeah. That's the level of science that these people are carrying out at this point because a lot of them, sadly, are conducting experiments based on something that, again, doesn't have a set dependent or independent variable. So how can you do that as my question? Well, yeah, I mean, because in each experiment, they're going to be using different stimuli, different faces. Right. Whether it's a doll or a wax figure or a CGI character and then they're going to be doing different things and have different expressions and each person has their own subjective take. So it is very tough thing to kind of nail down. Yeah, and I think some of them are actually trying to form the basis of this field of study right now. They're doing the groundwork. But I think some of them also are just chasing headlines. Like there's no better way to get into the media cycle with your study than releasing some findings on the uncanny valley. People just eat that up. They love it. One thing I thought was interesting was at Princeton. They tried this with monkeys, and they found the same thing happened when they had these realistic looking but fake monkey faces. The monkeys were like, ah, and turned away. It did make me think though, you've seen these situations where like an orphaned animal has a creepy puppet mother? Yeah, I know exactly what you're talking about. And they seem to like that.

"We're so used to uncanny valley now that it's hard to imagine eerie valley, but right. I think that was the issue. Yeah. Nobody's going to go along with that. So this graph, like I said, it starts off on that left hand side, and this is where you have things that are super robotic. A packaging robot and a factory. Right. Apparently, most people don't have fondness for it. I do because I love mechanical processes. Right, right. Okay, so there's part of the problem. It's like that's not necessarily the kind of feeling that masahiro Morty was talking about. He was like, yeah, you're interested in robotics and robotic arms and the industrial processes and you love watching how it's made, right? What he was talking about was more like how it resembles a human and then how it makes you feel in relation to its resemblance of a human, right? Well, in that case, it makes me feel nothing because it doesn't look at all like a human. Right, okay, so that would be at about the origin of the graph. It has no resemblance to a human, really. And it's not a listening any real affinity in you at all. As far as it looking like a human. Right. But lots of affinity as a thing. That's called props. So you go a little bit further on the graph, and then you have things like little stuffed animals and a no C-3PO is a common one that's mentioned, because C-3PO is built to look like a human. He does a great robot. Like a human and acts like a human, but when it comes to that face and as we'll see, the face is kind of the key to all this. For the most part, C-3PO looks nothing like a human in the face. Right. So everything's still good and people love C-3PO. Right, so if you're looking at the graph, C-3PO is going up in human likeness because he kind of, you know, he's got some commonality there. And we're feeling affinity for him based on that human likeness. So he's going up. Yes. Okay? We're going everything's going pretty well so far, right, chuck. That's right. Okay, so then we're going to start hitting some areas where things start looking a little more human, a lot more human I would say than C-3PO like say the characters in Moana or frozen Pixar characters, that kind of thing, where they look like they're supposed to be human, like they're based on human, but they have very exaggerated features that you would never confuse at first glance for in actual human, right? So they have big eyes, small noses, things that make them cute, right? And so our affinity for them is going up as the human likeness is going up. Again, things are going really well so far. That's right, because in Moana and frozen, they look a little bit more like people, and we like them a lot more for that reason. Right. And then, like you said earlier, out of nowhere, the whole thing, this line that's just been going up very pleasantly at a nice little slope. Just drops downward. And it doesn't drop just downward. It goes actually below the X axis. Into negative territory. And now, this is the uncanny valley. That's right. And that's why it has that name because it's a valley. Right, and this is where those things like really, really lifelike androids live. Or corpses live. Or zombies live because mori, he had the idea that if something's moving, is even creepier than something similar to it that's not moving. So we actually created two lines on this graph. One for things that are one for things that are inanimate.

"Sector, along with the world of tech? Well, first, I think this entire situation made it clear that entrepreneurs, venture capitalists, basically any business with a bank account. You do have to have a contingency plan in place. I mean, having a 100% of your money in one single bank? Well, it's now viewed as overly risky. Here's Eric bond from the hustle fund on the hustle funds YouTube channel with his take on this. It doesn't hurt to actually have your money in a few places where you are under the FDIC limit of $250,000. Just in case there are other kinds of runs like this in the future, which I think are highly unlikely, but you know, it doesn't hurt to hedge your bets to have just a few more bank accounts too. Okay, so maybe open up a couple of new bank accounts, what else? Well, for entrepreneurs, I think this also shows that there may be elevated risk and having your money at. I don't know like unconventional banks. I say unconventional for Silicon Valley bank because it's business model was such that it served mostly companies, not so much consumers, because of that, the vast majority of its holdings were in deposits above the FDIC insured limits. Dion rabbi of Wall Street Journal talks about this issue and others here in his YouTube channel. Silicon Valley bank had what folks on Wall Street call idiosyncratic problems, meaning issues that were unique to them. As its name suggests, Silicon Valley bank did a lot of business, venture capital firms, startups, and others, and Silicon Valley. Home of the U.S. tech industry. Tech investment has gotten battered this year, as investors have been spooked by tumbling stock prices. The fed's rate hiking cycle has been especially damaging for shares of tech companies, because many are relying on making profits far off in the future. Higher interest rates today eat into those potential future profits and make tech companies look less valuable. Plus, it costs more for venture capital firms and other investors to borrow money to put into these companies that are not turning a profit in many cases. So many of the firms and individuals who had money held an SVP were taking it out, rather than putting Marin. SVB also had invested big and mortgage debt. Much of it coming at the top of the market. And home prices have generally lost value since then. And the bank purchased limited market hedges like swaps that could have reduced their losses in the event of big downturns, like the ones we've seen. So again, these issues that we're seeing, they're likely specific to Silicon Valley bank, not necessarily an indication that banking in general is set to unravel. Even if, in this case, the government chose to protect depositors who were over the FDIC insured limit, there's no guarantee that can happen in the future. It may be a better idea to choose banks who are very well established and have its deposits spread between customers and businesses or maybe even skews more towards the consumer side. Or the smaller regional banks might there actually be more risk with them now, because they are smaller and maybe they can't withstand a bank run as well as the behemoth national banks. Well, Liz Hoffman, semaphore business and finance editor recently joined squawk box to talk about what she was hearing on this front. I've heard like slightly conflicting things, right? I was talking to a banker at a G sib over the weekend. It was kind of complaining saying that while our competitive advantage is that we get access deposits because people think that we will be here tomorrow. And that we're going to lose that to the small banks. The other side is, why would you have your money at one of these tiny banks when there's even like a remote risk of this happening again? So I don't know. I think it'll be very messy a couple of weeks in the short term running markets. So one of those things where we're just going to see how it plays out. But one thing is for sure. Entrepreneurs now are much more aware of banking risk than they ever were a couple of weeks back. And now I'm sure we're going to see a flood of FinTech startups and products blossoming, promoting FDIC insurance related features, and we're already seeing this pop up and I'm sure we're going to see a lot more of it. Well, crisis averted at least for depositors for now. Who knows what the future will look like. But yeah, if you had Silicon Valley bank collapsing on your 2023 bingo cards, I guess you could check that one off now. Yeah, what's next on the bingo card Michael? "So all deposits would be protected by the government, not just those under the $250,000 threshold. And this is a very big deal. Yeah, a big sigh of relief for everybody who has deposits in. That's for sure. Not good news for Silicon Valley bank execs or investors in the company. But I think it's a pretty fair tradeoff. No investment in any company is a sure thing. There's always risk, but when we deposit our money into a bank, we should be able to trust that our money is protected. So this isn't a wholesale bailout for all parties, right? But it was a government intervention to protect depositors, which I think is really the heart of the issue here. And so everybody felt a lot more calm about the banks at that point. You know that's not true, Michael. All right, yeah, yeah. I know it's not the case. In fact, it was on that very day that Joe Biden made his announcement where another bank signature bank a crypto friendly bank who was going through a very similar bank run announced that it would be shuttering. And would be taken over by the federal government as well. Yeah, and we could do an entire episode on signature banks demise too, but look, it's safe to say that despite the government stepping in and assuring depositors and money was safe, seeing two major banks collapse in a matter of days, particularly those who served a good portion of the tech sector, what's kind of leaving everybody a little shell shocked. As for what happens next with Silicon Valley bank, will the government essentially stood up a brand new company that servicing all of Silicon Valley's bank's customers. Basically, a brand new Silicon Valley bank. And that bank is being led by its new CEO, Tim mayopoulos, a very experienced banking executive who was at one time the president and CEO of Fannie Mae. But he also knows the tech sector very well. Yes, and he posted this open letter to customers, which I will read here. I'll do my best to make impression here. We are doing everything we can to rebuild win back your confidence and continue supporting the innovation economy. We recognize the past few days have been an extremely challenging time and we're grateful for your patience. We are open for business and hard at work bringing all the systems and solutions back online to support you. We're making new loans and fully honoring existing credit facilities. The number one thing you can do to support the future of this institution is help us rebuild our deposit base, both by leaving deposits with Silicon Valley bridge bank and transferring back deposits that left over the last several days. As stated in yesterday's announcement, depositors have full access to their money and new and existing deposits are fully protected by the FDIC. If you, your portfolio companies or your firm, move funds within the past week, please consider moving. Some of them back as a part of a secure deposit diversification strategy. We are also open for business for any new customers, reactively opening new accounts of all sizes and making new loans. Please reach out to your Silicon Valley bank team with any questions. We'll be sharing more updates as we continue to work and support the innovation economy. There it is, that was the letter. All right, so Silicon Valley bank is back and open for business. Well, yeah, I mean, at least while they try to find a permanent buyer for the bank. That process is still ongoing. Let's learn a little bit more about that from this Bloomberg segment. So what about Silicon Valley bank have they found the buyer yet? No, they haven't. And typically when the FDIC takes over a bank as they did on Friday, they very quickly moved to auction off the bank so that by the following Monday are all is calm that really didn't happen here and Bloomberg has learned that a combination of infighting between regulators and other issues really marred initial efforts to get the auction underway. What we do know is that there will be a new set of bids that will be due by the end of the week on Friday and that by early next week we could have some more information. We also know that with the fact that the vast majority of the deposits in Silicon Valley bank are outside the 250,000 cap that is covered by the FDIC, finding a buyer almost certainly another bank that would take on this liability is been difficult. We do know several banks have been circling to look at assets of the bank such as its loan book, such as its wine business. So again, bids do on Friday and we should have some news by early next week. So maybe there will be some news very soon and hey, by Silicon Valley bank and get some wine as a bonus, I guess. I don't know. Well, they're wine banking business. But yes, it sounds like other major banks are considering making offers. And we'll see where they end up. So what now? What does this all mean for banking? What does this mean for the world of tech? All that after one more break to hear from our sponsors. Welcome back, America, time for the insert report, Selena zito comes us from somewhere in Pennsylvania. She's on the road this morning on a cell phone. Good morning, Selena. Good morning. How are you heading to Wisconsin this morning? What is up in Wisconsin? Somebody declaring for president up there? No, that's state Supreme Court race. Oh, that's good. No one's paying any attention to that so you can tell us about that next week. I want to talk to you about David McCormick about the bailout of the Silicon Valley bank and about east Palestine and western Pennsylvania. In a nutshell, billions for blue bubble, venture capitalists in the Silicon Valley, the Biden administration won't give the time of day to each Palestinian and western Pennsylvania. People are going to remember that. Yeah, they're definitely going to remember that. It is this never ending snob and insult to the middle of America. Anything that's seriously anything is about 15 to 20 minutes outside of a major city doesn't have doesn't get the attention or it doesn't have the importance or there's not an urgency to whatever happens in those areas. It wasn't the people of east Palestinians have appreciated a response, at least even 50% of the response that the Silicon Valley bank got over the weekend. No, they haven't gotten at all the kind of response that they need. I mean, their lives are upended forever. Their lives will never be the same. And I've been spending weeks there and is Palestinian, but also in Darlington, Pennsylvania, as many of you may not know that these Palestinians right on the border of Ohio right across from Darlington, Pennsylvania. I mean, in all of these areas, the whole lives have been turned have been upended. Yeah, east Palestinian people are like the Starks in Game of Thrones. They hold the wall against the people on the other side, the Pittsburgh is coming over. I saw you interview Dave McCormick, he's coming on today to talk about his book superpower in peril. Is he aware of this? Did you talk about the casual disregard for western Pennsylvania and eastern Ohio demonstrated by team Biden and leader Buttigieg? Oh, he's definitely aware of what's going on. He's been, you know, he and I talked a lot about the interview went for a while and he talked about leadership. We talked about the importance of showing up and there's similarities in terms of leadership showing up between Afghanistan, what happened in the Afghanistan on August 27th and 2021 and not showing up for the people of east palestin from Biden and sort of the dismisses the dismissiveness of it and the lack of empathy. And there was one thing that McCormick possesses a lot of and that's empathy. He's a guy for all of his great accomplishments in the corporate world. He's a guy that is much more comfortable being at a bowling alley or the gun race and he is the sort of high end event..

So I didn't have much of a weekend. Yeah, that nor did anyone lobbying for blue bank and blue bubble, Silicon Valley investment capital and investment bankers. Look, the jenning element began the morning saying, no bailout yesterday, and they closed last night by bailing out the Silicon Valley bank, and there is no other word for it. It's a bailout. Now, it might be necessary. I was being persuaded in real time that regional banks faced runs on this, but the treasury people are talking like, don't worry, no federal money involved, not a bit. It's a bailout, Jake. I mean, is this the bailout? It's not a bailout of the bank. If it's a bailout of anything, it's a bailout of depositors because the bank has been put into conservatorship that is not going to exist at least in its current form, but depositors above the above the $250,000 FDIC insured limit are going to get their money out and we ask this morning we have a wonderful a really talented financial services reporter, Bret did Peterson, who makes the argument that what good are these rules, where if a bank screws up, there's basically no consequence and they get and people get their money out. So I think that's a very good question to ask right now. And I will say this you. You will not be looking, you know, the house is controlled by Republicans who have argued for less stringent capital requirements and banks. That's not a criticism. That's a fact. So I would not be expecting any sort of legislation here around Silicon Valley bank. No, but I do expect that my bank ramaswami's response will become the standard response, which is billions for blue bubble bankers and not the time of day for each Palestinian and western Pennsylvania. Because the two things are juxtaposed. They worked all weekend long to come up with there is no federal deposit insurance corporation limit anymore. In my view, if they've done this for SBV, would they dare not do it for any other regional bank check because the idea that you're only insured to $250,000 is not true if you've got lobbyists and a lot of VC people who have, I mean, this bank had its own ski chalet. So Roku, which had a half $1 billion with the bank of which $250,000 was insured. Roku, I don't know who they contribute to, but I'll bet you they were on the phone all weekend..

"That had become outdated. He carried very few possessions with him. None of them firs but he was still looking to trade. The man reached into the medicine bag around his neck and pulled out several sizable pieces of gold. Fred could hardly believe it nuggets. That size indicated a massive strike. Fred knew that the man probably wouldn't be inclined to share the location of his treasure trove but hoping to win his visitor over. Fred offered him a cup of sweet tea and a pipe filled with tobacco after some questioning. The foreigner would only say the gold came from noni valley. It wasn't much of a lead but it's sent fred's mind racing. Perhaps the visitor was a member of the legendary warmongering. Nah tried as soon as the man left. Fred wanted to abandon his post at fort. Lee hard and take to the trail. Even this vague. Promise of gold must tempting. But his better sense kept him in the warmth and safety of the fort. He'd be a fool to give up his steady job to enter a forest full of god knows what to chase down what amounted to little more than a rumor of well but as the years passed. Fred never forgot the strangers visit. He felt inescapably drawn to the promise of noni valley and fate was about to tempt him again sometime in nineteen. Oh three. fred. "Is our first episode on the noni valley a remote area with a reputation for evil at the turn of the twentieth century. When western settlers ventured into it to search for gold their misadventures and horrifying deaths became legendary proof of the valleys malevolence. Today will cover the chilling stories that have given the honey valley's most famous features their names deadman valley and headless creek next episode. We'll discuss why so. Many twentieth century prospectors died in hunt valley. The region could be populated by a homicide tribe of indigenous people or prehistoric monsters. Perhaps the greed that infects all gold hunters drove a few to murder. We have all that and more coming up. Stay with us long. Before western settlers spread into what is now northern canada. The indigenous first nations people populated the area although they split into many different tribes they referred to themselves collectively as dna which roughly translates to people. The denny lived throughout the harsh mountainous region but they almost uniformly avoided the stretch of high altitude river canyons. Now known as honey valley. According to legend an aggressive tribe called the nah used to populate this area the naja liked to sweep down from their mountain dwellings to the dna who live below some victims even claimed to see the naja eating the flesh of their victims. After years of deadly raids the lowland dna had finally had enough. They climbed up to a nawaz settlement intending to strike back when the warriors reached no high teepees. They rushed the camp but to their shock. No one emerged from the tents. The campfires crackled weapons. Clothes and food all sat in the shelters but they were no people. The denny warriors looked at each other unsettled. The air felt polluted with what they called bad medicine. So the group fled back to their lowland homes and they never saw the now high again from then on. No one ventured up to that particular area of the mackenzie mountains. At least no one advised it occasionally. Young reckless hunters entered the area and didn't return those who did rod home eerie tales at night hunched over a campfire these hunters heard wales off the craggy rocks of noni valley some claim to see groups of menacing woolly giants emerging from caves along the canyon walls. These monsters they said considered the valley..

"Around the turn of the twentieth century western settlers still hadn't explored the vast desolate expanse of northern canada. A few hardy adventurous and greedy men plan to change that they were prospectors. They had two ways to penetrate the wilderness on foot or by water. Impatient gold seekers preferred the much faster. More dangerous water route then. Tribes advised prospectors to avoid a certain stretch of the south donny. River in canada's northwest territories. Those who ignored those warnings realized they're potentially fatal mistake as soon as they laid eyes on a section known as the splits. The water gushed at breakneck speed. Giving the paddlers. No time to navigate around logjams submerged rocks and gravel bars surviving. The trip required a sturdy vessel guts and a whole lot of luck. The few prospectors who made it through this splits entered honey valley a foggy sub arctic gap in the mackenzie mountains. Anyone lucky enough to lay eyes on. It breathed a sigh of relief. According to rumors the area was packed with gold but the local tribesmen were in just afraid of getting past the splits afraid of the valley itself and the evil that lurked inside it..

I think not just for bay quirks ourselves because of the waco vid has affected all small businesses especially social enterprises nonprofits. You know we're really dependent on people supporting us at this point. In time i think covert has really shined a spotlight on the different and speaking small business and place like amazon. Where you out of. The small businesses are either closing or they're not doing so well right now so you know. It's a perfect opportunity to get gambled with any small business and places like big works thank you. I'm going to turn to you. Martha in ask of all of the horrible things happening in covid. "We have or don't have his moment and then martha over your years of working there in training folks to work at his other bake quirks. Could you share a story that you feel shows. The impact of his valley big works on our community. Yes i think. At the beginning. We saw that we were going to train people to be amazing kooks and overtime working with them. We realized that it was more about having a place to come to. Some of them have never worked so introduced them to the war forced into having france for example at work having a purpose in life that is very ordinary and just seeing some of the growth of those clients eight. It's just amazing. Like some of them. Come shy they don't talk they don't know what to do. And we time you see them in we all become like part of one family and for me some of the clients when we haven't seen each other for a long time in when they come back it's like i miss you so much and behold you of course before that he's amazing that's what i love about most about big words. Thank you nice story. How about you mark. You know it's just great to be able to see people from from backgrounds. Come together and be able to work together as a team. We recently had somebody working here. Who had been in prison his life and he was in his late fifties and he was on shift with somebody with developmental disabilities. You literally couldn't have who different people with more different backgrounds and see them work together in kind of work as a team and mentor. each other is just. It's just one of the most incredible things to see and it just goes to show is like you know if you meet people where they are. You know people can do a me thing if you judge people this out on so much of what you can learn from each other so it's being able to sleep. you know. Get their first paycheck that they've gotten in in years. You know like away saying just watching people grow. No oftens are our by and a little you know. They just don't know how to react. And how to work as a team or be a part of something that's bigger than themselves and people grow along the way is just you know it's just an amazing thing. And that's the impact that we let bay quirks and it takes a lot to get one person to get one person to grow into get one person along the way so it's you know it's always hard to explain what the impact is overall on community. You know because it's such an individualistic thing that we do here thank you. That was a good overview so mark folks who are watching are listening to this. How can they support his valley bay quirks. Obviously you guys aren't open so people can't just walk in like i used to once a week at least in by your amazing baked goods especially your banana bread. So.

"Your host. This episode is part of our series exploring covid nineteen impact on nonprofits and small businesses in the san francisco bay area back in april of twenty twenty when we decided to create this ongoing series on covid nineteen impact i or nonprofits and then on small businesses in the san francisco bay area. We like you had no idea how long the pandemic would go on. And what the health and economic impact would be in our community going into twenty twenty one. The pandemic is now killing more people shutting down more nonprofits and small businesses on with wiping out the livelihoods of families neighborhoods and communities. We will continue to shine a spotlight on the nonprofits and small businesses that make up the fabric of our community along with the founders and staff who are struggling to deal with the impact of the covid nineteen pandemic on their operations services is an ability until we can all get to the other side of the pandemic along the way we will also share with you all the amazing solutions that are nonprofits. Small businesses foundations and government leaders are working on to help us all get to the other side of the pandemic and come together to rebuild our communities with more economic social and environmental equality. We started a program the meals to work program and reached out to project homeless connect. So what we do is once a week. When they're having their drop in sessions for people who are looking for essential services we bring food to them for those days which is pretty amazing. Because if you've ever experienced homelessness or people who are aware or issues with homelessness.
