Some Players Aren't Convinced by US Soccer's 'Identical' Men's and Women's Contracts

"So. This story arose on tuesday afternoon. That us soccer has offered identical contracts to both the us men and women On the surface you would look at that and say oh well the. Us would have been asking for equal pay and it appears as though they have achieved that they do not see it that way. No they don't they issued a tweet from their. Us national team he eh. So players association us pr stunts and bargaining through. The media will not bring us any closer to a fair agreement. In contrast we're committed to bargaining in good faith to achieve equal pay and the safest working conditions. Possible the proposal. That usf made recently recently to us does neither. Now here's where we have a problem. what i would say is knowledge vacuum. I don't know what was in that proposal. I don't know the ins and outs of the pause. meg From the athletic. Who just great on this she tweets. Us soccer just issued a statement on the us women's national team on us mnt cba's it states that usf has offered identical contract proposals today proposing single cbs structure with revenue sharing usf believes best way to achieve these important goals is by the us women's national team players association on the us ns tpa negotiating together. That's the men's association however this quote marks this is from us soccer if the players association's choose to continue to negotiate separately as they have to date us. Soccer will invite the us women's national team to sit in on the negotiations with the us ns and vice versa in the interest of full transparency

That's all I needed to hear. So that sound a lot like Moose statement. I wouldn't Held at the University of Miami. Hey, was my coach for two years, and that's kind of what he had me doing, but he may be blocked up. Yeah, and you could do it all that Obviously you went on to play for Coach Parcells and Bill Belichick was on that staff. And you know you're you're most known. I think for your great performance and Super Bowl 25 21 carries for one or two on the touchdown. But I want to go back because we are in the Bay Area, obviously, and we are the flagship of the 40 Niners to the game the week before and the NFC Championship game and the game plan that that Bella check had To stay in the nickel the whole game and that obviously which did the K gone and you're a big part of that. Just taking the air out of the ball and running it down their throats and playing keep away But just tell me about when you look at the game plans that you you're a big part of And the defense executed tiptoe win the championship game at Candlestick over the 40 Niners and then come back two weeks later and do what you did to Buffalo is, you know, two of the greatest offenses and you are a big part of that. So just tell me about those the championship Sunday Win and Super Sunday, Okay? Well, you know, way have played 40 minutes early that year, and we kind of had an idea who we're playing again, saying I'm not mistaken. I don't think there was any touchdown school in the game. At least I know we didn't have into three Monday night game 7 to 3. And then the second. I think we school field goals that whole game and you know, and I think the highlight of that game was when Gary Riesen did that fake punt. I think that changed the game and put us in a position to possibly win it. And then having Roger Craig, one of the finest running back you've got planned for you guys. You know how to hook up where Eric. I'll hit him in the ball came loose and large, was able to recover it and gave us a chance to keep the winning field goal. But it was a tough battle. Man. We had always played each other tough. We knew each other. That was a mutual respect between the two teams is Forrest Talent level. We always equal if you look at, uh every position had Individual that can make plays, even though you have more name players on your team, with better and bigger resume that our offensive players had, but But we just played in the team. And when we got lucky, you guys we're going for a three peat, which had never been done before, And it was. It was history to be great. Auggie Anderson is joining a Super Bowl week continues here on the sports leader. So you're trading for the ST Louis Cardinals middle of the 86 season in the state with the Giants through 92. So it was obviously, as you talked about those battles with the 40 Niners or some great NFC teams. The Chicago Bears. What was it like just battling with all those the Redskins those historic teams? In the regular season in the playoffs. Yeah, well, you know, the regular season is one type of intensity. And as you get into the playoff it changes in each game of the playoffs brings a different type of intensity level. That concentration has to be second in on because you want to go home, so you have to really concentrate and focus and after We'll decide that that night life are that extra curricular activity that would normally go on during the regular season, and it was his business a zone Lee where you had to just concentrate and focus on your job, and And we're about part and everything else after everything's said and done. Yeah, We don't have to worry about that this year. That usually is a concern, but we're in the middle of a pandemic, so I don't think the guys he's Kansas City's flight in the night before the game. J. But s so go ahead and tell me about Super Bowl 25. That was right after The first Iraq war. Whitney Houston had a thrilling national anthem and that's one of the greatest Super Bowls in history came down to a field goal. But again, your your game plan was so well executed. Coach Bela check and silencing the K gun and you running the ball. So what do you remember about that First Super Bowl champion when it was Bill's and Giants back and Super Bowl 25, Where do you have that Super Bowl M v P trophy? Down in my man cave for sure. But what was unique about the two game plans. I'm gonna give you the defensive game plan, and then I'm taking off. There's a game playing different game plan was that a gun was by far the highest Most opponents office you can face so I was like that miles back in the day running Shoot, man. I'll say this. Miles Davis Shelby, you gambit back then with Kelly. Yeah, the USFL. Yeah. Even make that same type of setup and you notice under that system, they don't run the ball, the floating ball. So Della Chick The last we were blessed. We're gonna rush. We're gonna pair rushed three. We're gonna drop nine. Wow. So that, um Protect against the past and make every throw. He makes. Make it underneath. And then we just go knock the heck out of receivers that we first implemented that philosophy Banks and T and little martial air. Kyle would pepper There was not feeling that because you're saying let them run and thermostat rough over 200 yards, but You can't beat us by running killer can't be this with his arm. So they had to buy into that philosophy. I did. Then you take the slip of that, then, uh, there for ourselves and my position. Coach Ray Handley and an office coordinator. Um Run Erhard to listen. This is what we want to do..

"Madonna vaccine could begin shipping lawmakers clear away the remaining obstacles for a covert relief package, according to a report. A compromise was reached late last night, allowing for the final touches to be put in place for a $900 million deal, A spokesperson for Senator Mitch McConnell said With the hurdle resolved, we could begin closing out the rest of the package. To deliver much needed relief to families, the report says. It's anticipated, among other benefits. The deal will include a direct payment at $600 to Americans who qualify, lawmakers are expected to sign off on the agreement. Sometime today and Christmas. We could change everything. Both the Powerball and mega million jackpots have now rolled over again, so Tuesday's mega millions will be worth at least $330 million. Wednesday's Powerball at least $321 million. That's the latest I'm Lisa Taylor. This is the business of sports from Bloomberg Radio. Thanks so much for joining us. We're here each and every week for you at the same time talking the biggest names in sports and Jason Kelly along with Mike Lynch. Michael Barr is off this week. Let's get back to our conversation with NBA Deputy Commissioner Mark Tatum. So, Mark what one stakeholder is it were that we haven't talked as much about is the corporate side of all of this. The sponsors. Of the league. They obviously are a partner in all of this is well, you worked in the corporate world. You've worked in sports leagues other than the MBA. Given the upside down nature of this world we're living in, you know, not as many fans in the stands toe see advertising different sort of consumption. How does that sort of corporate sponsorship of the MBA change? How has it changed? And where are we? Now? You know the corporate partners have been incredible, particularly during this time we have Work so closely with them. I just think back to the bubble and the fact that we created the the virtual fan experience. That was a partnership with Microsoft and part of our new partnership with them where we went to them and said, How do we Come up with an opportunity to give fans a chance to experience the MBA in Orlando. Even though we knew we could they couldn't be there physically, could we do that? Virtually, and it was that partnership that where we came up with the Microsoft together teams mode? To be able to implement in that way in the arena, you know, a TNT is a partner and with the launch of five G, now able to do hologram interviews from the bubble with during the NBA draft was incredible. You know, partners like Gatorade, who really focusing on content, they created their own. Hydration trees that you may have seen in the bubble and now in arenas where instead of people going up to the gate re cooler, they each have their own individual hydration tree next to their individual seat. So again adapting to the Times and Creating solutions for our game for the time. I also think from a technology standpoint, in viewership standpoint, our partnership with Facebook And bringing the virtual reality experience to fans. You know, one of the things that we're able to do in the bubble and that will be able to do this season. With fewer fans in the building is create different camera angles, different experiences. The rail can gave you that courtside seat experience, and that was a partnership. Of ours with Facebook and Oculus. And so those are the same the same way that we have this partnership with the Players Association. We also have the great partnerships with these corporate partners and marketing partners, and we generally go to them and say, Hey, here's an issue that we're trying tow solve. Can you help us solve it? And those air? How I think the best ideas Those were the best ideas come from Well, clearly a lot of the attention this summer ahead of the restart, and during the research in the bubble was around Social justice. Let's listen A bit to what your boss Adam Silver had to say about player empowerment. Players know in the N B. A community knows there's there's a long history in this league. Of fighting for social justice for racial equality. And it seemed appropriate so it seemed appropriate and it clearly I think it's appropriate for us to talk about the fact and all sort of echo something that Lynch, he said earlier. It is indisputable that player empowerment is more welcomed. It feels like In the NBA than it is in other leagues. There's a comfort level there that exists. Tell us about that aspect, especially in the bubble because there were some Tense moments. You know, the Milwaukee Bucks and the rest of the teams essentially walking off the court, not essentially walking off the court negotiations about coming back. Help us understand what that was, like Mark. Yeah, well, you know, they didn't walk off the court. They never came out. They never came out the port for the game. Exactly. And you know, and I have to tell you again, the relationship that we have had With the Players Association and the players during that time was so helpful we when we went into the bubble we, collectively with the Players Association, and our board of Governors agree that one of the primary Functions of the bubble was one keeping everybody healthy and safe, but also to ensure that the conversation would keep going on the fight for social justice and racial equality and on those conversations continued every single day throughout the bubble and following Milwaukee's decision not to play. We had very candid and productive conversations with our players with our coaches and with our team governors. Well, how about how the further called our collective efforts and actions in support of social justice and racial quality and so coming out of that?.

"And honestly? Could this Sonny We've all fall that labor relations with those other two sports, But that's a conversation for another time. What? How How are you able to have the best relate business relationship between ownership league and players compared to Emily? But anybody else and don't be modest about this now? Because it is well, Mike again. I think it it takes two. It really takes to and And again, I think over the years we've established this trust with the players association that we truly are partners on the way that our agreement is structured is set up that way, where we are, in essence, 50 50 partners on the revenue, and so there is an understanding Here that these air unusual circumstances and that everyone in the world is being affected by this, And so the players understand that, you know, One of the things that we agreed to do here is Despite the drop the projected drop in revenues this year that we're gonna keep the salary cap the same Azad last year and that going forward in future years we're gonna set a minimum. Um, salary cap number so that players will continue to be paid at that level. So there won't be a precipitous drop if you will, because of the drop in revenue, and so we're going toe over time. We've worked out an agreement with the players where we'll be able to recover that money so that neither side is paying more than their fair share. So that's a that's a business conversation that we've had with them. They it's an understanding of each other's business is and how were impacted by that on day as partners. You know, we're just able to work through those issues and have those conversations and whether it's this issue or issues that we've had to deal with them In the past. We've always just taken that approach of Being good listeners of being open about the business and being on the same page with respect to how do we continue to grow the business together? Because if we grow the business and we grow the pie Been everybody wins, all right, more ahead of our conversation with NBA Deputy Commissioner Mark Tatum straight ahead on Bloomberg Business of Sports. And so coming out of that Those serious of conversations a day after with Milwaukee, Bucks decided not to come out is we established this Social Justice coalition and we agreed that we agreed to establish the Social Justice coalition that would be focused on increasing access to voting promoting civic engagement. Advocating for meaningful police and criminal justice reform. And so we wanted to Convert that feeling that our players in our coaches in the league had into action. There's no question you guys have been leaders in in in in so many different areas that we've discussed during this conversation right here. My final question to you is heavier, built in Dates and the schedule should some players a number of players test positive and they can't feel the team that they could make up. The game like baseball did on like footballs have to do on Tuesday and Wednesday night games. Yeah, thank you. For that question, Mike..

"What they did. That's the deal that they caught. And so if you go into an alternate universe where he doesn't make that deal with the players and does the investigation without the cooperation of the players, I'm not sure we get all of that information. And if he tries to impose a suspension, you could bet your you know what The Players association is going to fight it. So, look, I think some of the things, he said. In describing what the Astros did. The piece of metal comment about the championship trophy. I get all that I don't think you handled it perfectly, but To continue to say it said So often, it's just repeated over and over again. Joe Kelly got eight games. This guy got a game, but the Astros got nothing. Let's not ignore why the Astros got nothing. The Astros got nothing because he made a deal with them to get to admit what they did. And if he doesn't make that deal, I'm not sure what the investigation comes up with. With that said I love the commissioner. But I also I strive to be fair, no matter how much I dislike a commissioner or Lovell, commissioner or dislike a GM or love a manager. I just want to call it like I see it. I want to be fair. And I think that's fair when talking about what happened with the Astros, and certainly with the idea of a hub city or the idea of a bubble. Baseball was in a very different situation than the NHL in the N B. A. And I'll give you an example. Michele Roberts. The head of the MBA Players Association. Made a comment to Zach Galba on CBS Sports Network and ESPN in which he said, we may need a bubble for the entire regular season next year. Okay, That's what she said. I understand if we don't control the virus makes sense. It looks like it's working. But when the follow up, was asked by Zach Really? The players would go for that. She laughed and said, Well, I didn't say that because the answer is they wouldn't go for it. But it's one thing to tell 22 N BA teams in which a bunch of them are going to be gone after a few weeks. Let's be honest. Come to this bubble, no long regular seasonal playing eight games to tune you up and then boom, the playoffs start that is a much easier sell, then saying play an entire regular season here. So I just don't think the bubble was ever A serious thing. Let's see how this thing unfolds right now. Things aren't looking. Very good. Rangers are down. One hurricanes are on a power play Henrik Lundquist between the pipes for this team Igor Sister Kin. If you didn't hear was deemed unfit the play, so there's an undisclosed injury. It's not cold but related, according to Larry Brooks, but there is an injury. That is for Sister Kim to not only not play, but he's not dressed for this game. Georgie office, the backup for King Lundquist will continue to keep you posted. Come right back with your calls. Talk little basketball coming up at one o'clock with Jared Greenberg. "And when people ask why I'm a Democrat I tell them the story as a kid my dream was to fly fighter jets in combat but the law didn't allow women to do that it wasn't until a democratic president was elected with the democratic Congress that the law was finally changed that's when I learned it was Democrats who are committed to giving everyone a chance to compete fairly on their own merits talents even still as a woman in the military I've had to fight the establishment my entire career it's why what we're going through is so important people who have been locked out and left behind from Kentucky's biggest cities to our smallest towns are finally being heard the system is broken and we need a country that's fair and works for every I'm running for Senate and I approve this message because my life would have happened if Democrats hadn't given someone like me shot it's while never stop fighting for you paid for by percentage broadcasting live twenty four seven from the Tom Drexler plumbing electric studios this is news radio wait forty WHR read a full day in the ville is checking what's going on in Chicago Ryan burl baseball or no baseball flip a coin oh boy you know this is a bit more like tennis because it's just been back and forth and back and forth we talked earlier this week that there may be a deal in place for sixty game season I remember the owners said the commissioner the Players Association they all kind of made this agreement to the framework that the players association executive Tony Clark went back to the players and is changes seventy games they would like to do seventy games a fifty game they're sixty games is not enough they want to see seventy games they did agree by the way to us some of these things that include universal D. H. which is a cubs fan kind of hurts me but not over if they return to the field and some advertising patches on the on the Jersey as well expanded playoffs for the next two seasons sixteen teams but it seems as though games are the sticking point right now we've we've heard now for maturing and nothing I can confirm at least through ABC but it sounds as though Scott Boras got involved and maybe kind of one of the big factors in all of this and remember he's got about fifty clients under hand some of the biggest names in baseball and makes about thirty million dollars said he and you know various profits from these players and and every year so that you know he he does have a voice in this it sounds as though it sounds like that's right in there talking to them that their talk about a seventy game season starting in July nineteenth which sucks we were also hopeful for July fourth but what are the things that I'm reading it would it would be into this would be a a cash pool for the playoffs depending on how many rounds are played as a fifty million dollar cash pool it would that be split depending on how many games each team wins how does that work if you heard anything about this poll no I'm I'm not familiar with that I know that okay one of the things that the the MLBPA is seeking is a fifty fifty split on TV revenue remember that yeah orders just sighed this nice billion dollar deal with Turner sports said to air the the baseball games in the players want their cut of that to the playoff games and the players want to kind of that so Ryan and and all the talk about money and number of games were forgetting about the obvious thing they've apparently agreed on health protocols but covert could kind of derail everything depending on how they handle it what are some of the things they're talking about their if you now yeah I mean it it sounds as though both sides agree that it's it's not going to be a hundred percent full proof you're not gonna be able to guarantee people's health one hundred percent they're not doing the bubble city format like the NBA's doing where they're basically telling all the players look you have to live here you're going to play here so he did it say it doesn't seem as though that is a big factor in these discussions anymore it is really about money and course the big elephant in the room is that twenty twenty one collective bargaining agreements that you know obviously this deal will kind of set a precedent moving into those negotiations Ryan burl for it in Chicago with ABC news but you know what we think about the the the U. S. the strike shortened season in NFL a couple of years ago no one no one really talks they always talk about well the chance not to be with the champion of regular season know what talk about the Redskins were the champ that year in the NFL no one cares like it was like it they were the champ I mean baseball did the same thing that whoever won it that year that was the chant we don't talk about it so this is an opportunity for someone the NBA's gonna do the same thing somebody's going to steal a championship and No in ten years we're not gonna talk about well that was a short season so they every game is it the sort of the season is Ryan every game is going to mean something this could be kind of cool yeah you you certainly don't want to get off to a rough start in a potential fifty sixty games season that's for sure I mean you could see one of these out wire teams make a run get hot at the right time and end up winning the World Series out that being said I don't necessarily know if you're gonna get a ticker tape parade it right you have your your downtown metro area but it would it would be that would be fun for your city to win a World Series title I suppose and even a fifty game season you're part of the deal were we you're talking about is the clubs going to be allowed to sell ad patches on the uniforms for twenty twenty and actually twenty twenty one kind of like it bad news bears they were Chico's bells bought bail bonds but is there going to be a limit on how many patches I mean it does what did that happen when I come to this part of this agreement I don't know about that I rarely speak to anyone about this but all such a like you all let you guys know is the will Smith my nephew is the starting catcher for the Los Angeles Dodgers will Smith so I wonder if Will Smith my nephew could wear a patch say like Bernal's pizza is there going to be a limit on how much space you how many patches they were on.

"Club medical staff all of our medical committees certainly our partners at the NFL Players Association and their medical staff as well as all of our research partners in engineers at email just people that help was basically touching and and and not helping to execute all the things that affect health and safety of players throughout the week when you start to look at the NFL's plan coming up this fall and I know it feels like each week a lot happens if we look back where we were three months ago who knew we would be where we are right now and where we're going to be in two or three months so is it your job to sort of look down the road or do you have to stay in the moment of trying to adapt to whatever we're seeing on a daily basis with this virus well I think there's some of both Janet and you made a great point which I've been telling people I I say it feels like about five years since we all started quarantining and sheltering in place it's actually been probably about a hundred days and that's the same time there we have to announce at the start of our season so you think about how much we've learned how much more awareness we have the new technologies that are emerging respect all that's going to continue to put us in a different place so I think what we have to do is make the best decisions we can't eat straight the knowledge in hand but also try to prepare it and remain what the phrase happens take everybody what's going to happen because in this situation where we're going to be adapting also the coronavirus not ours all right so it's it's it's crucially important that we have that mindset of flexibility adaptability and using that new knowledge along the way what's your biggest concern this football season I think like everyone we're dealing with a novel virus that no one can really predict and so I think that it's impossible to know which direction it's going to take this and and and I think that's true not just for the NFL but for the country in the world so I think that's why we stayed very regular contact with public authorities see see what the White House task force with with public health authorities in each state and each of our club markets we just have to work in a very collective fashion as we do what's best for not only just yet available to the public at large are you one hundred percent confident we're playing football this fall you know I don't think any of us can be a hundred percent coverage of of anything with regard to this virus I would say that I'm very optimistic that we're we're tracking we're moving in that direction but I think throughout this day and we said look we have to be cognizant of what's happening a public health standpoint the NFL's nine is going to put our head down as they were charging or no matter what I think you saw that with our draft right you know there are a lot of people that said what we couldn't or shouldn't do the draft but we said look we've we've got these sort of things we'd like to do how can we do that and do a concert with what the current public health recommendations are and I think we wind up with a with a really unique and special event that also raised a whole lot of money for very needed relief effort so that's the same approach we've got it we gotta take here we've got to take really careful look at and work very cleverly get with your service station there by public health authorities and make the best and safest decision all of our stakeholders are players coaches fans everybody that's in the NFL family what do you think of the NBA plan you don't get a very regular contact with chief medical officer of the NBA all sports leagues we we share with each other regularly are learning we're all confronting the exact same issues and I think that notionally we all have the same basic approach to that they're obviously since subtle nuances and differences from one state to another just based on operational issues but I think that again the NBA's try to do just what we've done which is be very thoughtful to to really be cautious so it's a work in a stepwise fashion to keep everybody safe as possible and and again we're all learning from each other in this we talk not only to each other in North America we talk to sports leagues around the world the Bundes Liga the Australian football league we're all trying to share collaborate and learn from each other and we keep talking about well not me but the the experts keep talking about the second wave and I said you know let me know when the first wave ends because but like we don't we don't know this dock with when does the first wave end and then that second wave if it is coming back so how do you prepare for that yeah I think you're exactly right you know there's a saying in the medical community that all models are wrong some are actually useful and I think that's true here you know that it's really hard to predict what's going to happen again I think we just have to be flexible and adaptable we have to make the best decisions we can with the knowledge enhance any and as you said that that that's very hard to predict and it's also varies from region to region you know what's happening in one part of the country may be very different from the other part of the country so I think as I said we we want to make sure we were hand in glove with our players association with public health authorities to make the best decisions whatever the situation on the ground maybe at that time you had Ezekiel Elliott some other cowboys some of the Texans who tested positive if this was the week of a game what would be protocol van with Zeke Elliott and some of these other players of now what what does safeguards would be in place here and how long would they be out so I think obviously I can't comment specifically on any case but but in general what are protocols are moving towards this we want to identify anyone who's newly infected at the earliest possible moment and get them isolated from the rest of the team environment and again this isn't just about players coaches athletic trainers strength and conditioning staff anybody in what we're calling that CVR system we were identified at the earliest phase inspection remove them from the rest of the environment get in the appropriate treatment and then watching monitor that recovery start protocol will detail exactly what we do each step of that it's also really important we cleared them appropriately to make sure they're not affected when they come back indiscreet things like some of the cardiac complications that can happen after code section so we'll have all that detailed out again we're working hand in glove with the Players Association on what that protocol looks like what would be the minimum that somebody would have to sit out if they tested positive well again I think that's that's based upon public health guidelines in in their certain guidelines depending on what you have symptoms when the last time your symptoms or what your test status yes it's hard to give you an exact number but I mean I think you're looking at someone missing at least a couple weeks time after a positive test it's not going to be test positive one day your back three days later it's going to be a time interval and there again our knowledge on that may continue to evolve a little bit but but I'd say at a minimum it's going to be a couple weeks time what will face mask look like this this is us season will they be any alterations to them.

"Essence L. eighty so called listen to players led by Kyra Irving in the Brooklyn nets a navy brat at a loss as Lakers those who believe they have a responsibility to take on a leading role in exploring answers and solutions for fellow players that the group believed to be justifiably reluctant to speak for themselves that's a statement as sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski ESPN NBA insider what exactly the player in this coalition really want when it comes the NBA having a restart by July thirtieth I think this group number one I think they really the the really determined to get a message to people that they are trying to be unifier is here they're not trying to divide the league and also the one element that I think they want to kind of have that conversation with the league you know the players association owners the idea of what is going to be that kind of the point of action what if the league does resume in Orlando what's good with the investment of the resources and ideas among the commissioner's office owners team executives front offices are in the players I know Carrie Irving Jonathan was elected vice president when it comes in every player's association by the way he was part of the union ratification vote on June fifth that puts this plan in place with twenty to reach twenty two team reached on a Landau curry Irving no matter what you think about him as a right to raise his voice but on the NBA player do you really want to trust a follow that guy especially what we have seen and heard from how he's changed his mind this suit his own agenda before employers have conversations you know this all the time and if I was one of those players Jonathan hood I would raise my voice I kind of read in that way I like that he's trying to take on this possibility of that he's taken responsibility was sued this do be trusted with that kind of responsibility despite being elected as a vice president of the NBA Players Association that's the question I would raise all the player would kind of go wait a minute what what is your end game here and house is really going to benefit everybody and not just you well flat earth kind read means well I think that he looks at it forty from the standpoint you've got to understand that we can be able look at societal issues and watch what happens in basketball at the same time the feeling that he had it just based on him on that call with so many others around the NBA was like Tyree said well if we play basketball will be distraction what's going on with George Florida what's going on in our society right now no actually I could look at both I do have I have multiple TV's in the cave I could be able to see what's going on of my favorite news channel and I can also watch them at the same time yeah I could do that you know entirely get understand that's okay the basketball not be distraction as much as I love the NBA it's not going to take my eyes away from everything around me like you know breathing walking and chewing gum you know just a normal thing that could be able do those things but here's the bigger point though that Tyrese got understand and we've got to bring it out here tonight Freddie and that is a veteran player like lebron James he's fighting that they're only the rest of the NBA not just the clippers he's fighting for father time that's why you continue to hear lebron first and foremost say well how can we get back on the floor I could go back before because it's itching right get back on the floor because he knows that tomorrow is not promised and so for curry said well maybe we should be out there lebron like no no no we should because I think lebron season opening here even in this odd season we're having right now an odd kind of way lebron probably sees another championship that's always itching to try to compete again yet to many guys gonna father guys like lebron James and curry Irving because the N. B. is going to play there too many dudes like lebron James yet another global that want to play and I wonder if Kyra Irving was not injured how much of this will be going to be all the way saying Hey I voted for this we got to get out there and play he may have some stroke with some players and I get his past with what's going on outside NBA but I also believe it's by these job the hood if if it's M. as in Freddie Coleman on Freddie Fitzsimmons and ESPN radio if the protests were not happening I don't believe carry over to raise his voice about this if Congress Irving was actually having a chance to play if he was not injured and out for the season I wonder how strong this coalition that he if they re Bradley of leading to speak for those who are reluctant to speak for themselves I want to convert Irving the Brooklyn nets were having a chance to compete in the playoffs how strong this would be from a guy that's been very very flighty not my words an email has an on property development when you have a cell ESPN NBA insider he said you know what hi res intelligent and smart but he's been flighty we've seen and heard Tyree Irving B. one way one day and the other way the next day if he was part of the play offs if it seems a contingent of plant and he was playing I don't believe that for one second he would be trying to have this kind of stroke that he's trying to have right now with the players who are reluctant to speak up for themselves he is with his needs is a kind of an odd duck that that's what he is Kyra answered because we have so I I just I find it interesting that he looks out for the the well being of players throughout all this and and here's why we come to learn and we seem like we're learning stuff every week about what the NBA's plan is I I said initially I want sixteen teams I just want I want to race to the playoffs let's go that you could tell this summer once the added star power of having a possibly resign there have published it with the spurs so you're adding a little bit of flavor you and me what with the playoffs be without the trailblazers I get that but at the same time we got a look at the big picture the big picture is that the NBA's gonna return if some players not cover with that they can be replaced we know that we're still with their players wait in the wings to be able to be part of this if they can and by the NBA has not exactly been tone deaf when it comes to issues outside their league if I'm a player nothing against the protests but I wanna make sure I'm gonna play in the NBA part of that restart that I'm going to be safe that's to be paramount more than anything else if I'm a player right now because all that all those other things yeah there's a time and place for that I think I read Irving has a long time in the wrong place he John hood if he if it's M. as in Freddie Coleman on Friday after the seventh back to baseball offenders so we'll speak on where oh where has often they'll be gone that's next on ESPN radio.

"The Players Association Scott Oberg join login Louis yesterday and although formal proposal hasn't been sent to the players he seems to be encouraged that baseball will get going here sooner than later I think a lot of people are certainly optimistic that we will see baseball this year we haven't necessarily gotten any official proposals just yet I think they may be coming in and they're closed so I'm not exactly sure what the particulars of that is going to be you know it is a big industry that the government just the players who knows a lot of coaches staff members trainers scalp Pires media you know you name it so the health and safety issues that were going to be a big role in all this and you know from my understanding so far things are looking good and while some push back from the players is to be expected specifically on the financial split between players and owners there appears to be plenty of support for the universal designated hitter something players have wanted for a long time pushback from the players in the NBA seems less likely when a proposal is set forth by ownership that's because Chris Paul president the Players Association got a phone call going with lebron James Anthony Davis Kevin Durant Yanis attentive poke why Leonard Steph curry Damian Lillard Russell Westbrook according to Yahoo on Tuesday and on that call they discussed the ramifications of the corona virus pandemic and everyone seemed to be in agreement that taking the court with proper safety measures once the league receive the green light to get going again will be met with player support that's sports operating crystal in Keighley news radio when the Broncos bus Rockies.

"Director of the Players Association had invited him to the executive board meeting importer Rico to make his case to the unions player we call it his freedom flight he needed the union to support him through this process Marvin Miller was very honest and he said Kurt you realize if they don't elect to have a free agent and change this around you'll never have another job in baseball Flynn argued that the players only hope to break the owners iron fist control was unity after hearing his impassioned plea the player reps voted unanimously to back flow January sixteenth nineteen seventy filed a civil lawsuit against commissioner Q. challenging baseball's reserve after that unanimous vote he felt the players would be there with him he realized after they were witnessing the way he was being treated and the pains that he was going it might not be a good idea to step out and follow him closely let's get started in the spring of nineteen seventy former major leaguers Hank Greenberg Jim Bronson and Jackie Robinson only three players ever appeared in court to support and I'm a bit regretful about I think we could have done a better job at supporting Kurt I never said that and I but I do feel like that because in essence he was by himself that's a heavy burden after sitting out.
