Miranda Devine: The Media Is Still Avoiding the Real Hunter Biden Story

"This has been going on since the beginning of Joe Biden's career really I mean he's the center of the Delaware He won the election when he was 29 years old And from then on because Delaware is this unique state in America where so many corporations are headquartered there because of its tax laws but mainly the opacity of its corporations law He had really a lot of power in the corporate world and he was also very powerful positions on both the legislative affairs committee and the foreign affairs committee And he was faced by these corporations and these donors gave him lots of money and also other things such as grace and favor jobs for family members especially hunter And so Hunter Biden was given inflated salaries and from that money very early on straight out of college he was expected to pay bills for the rest of the family And so there were stories along the way and even The New York Times have stories I mean Byron York did some brilliant work which I thought in the book on Joe Biden sort of real estate purchases which were very dodgy back in the day MBNA which is a credit card company in Delaware board a house from him a lot higher than comparable houses nearby An executive of theirs And so there was there was quite a bit of reporting done not enough in my view But I think that influence peddling is a Washington disease

Joe Biden Will Reinstate President Trump's Remain in Mexico Policy

"There's some breaking news out of the Biden ministration. I don't mean to laugh. If you don't laugh, you'll cry. Looks like the Biden administration is going to resume Trump's remain in Mexico policy for illegals. They've reached an agreement with the do tell. Do tell, you know how hard it must be for them to say, well, Trump was right. And they never will. I can't wait to hear a circle back Psaki's explanation about this one. The Washington Post is reporting that The White House will soon reinstate the policy. Remain in Mexico requires asylum seekers to attempting to enter the U.S. by crossing the southern border to have to wait in Mexico until their cases are heard. Wow, that's just terrible. But they feel dehumanized too. You know? Unbelievable. One official told The Washington Post that the renewed version of Romanian Mexico will be, quote, fairly close to the previous version. Rep. Chip Roy Talks About New Defense Bill Where Women Would Be Drafted

"Explain that you text me about two things that drew my immediate attention Tell America what's going on Yeah well this week we've got two big bills that are going to be coming up The national defense authorization act which course is important for funding and authorizing our defense But in it is a new provision that we've never had before a provision that would add women to the draft The second thing that's up is the continuing Let's slow down on that Hold on let's do that one first Okay Add women to the drift You know chip I'm older than you And I remember when actually we would have a national discussion about these things before people get slipped this crap into these bills Now who put it in the bill Do we know and did any Republicans vote for it Well this is the exact point right The national defense authorization act the NDAA passed out of the House of Representatives with two thirds two thirds mark of Republicans voting for it with a provision in it that included drafting women also a provision that had red flag laws in it to go after guns of our service members as well as all sorts of garbage for climate training and diversity stuff But importantly drafting our daughters for the first time in history And so a lot of us have raised that issue It's gone over to the Senate and they're about to vote on it They voted on closer tonight Now good news They actually denied cloture Mitch McConnell and the Senate Republicans denied cloture tonight So I think there's a debate on the other amendments to the bill So I'm trying to elevate and I wrote a letter to Mitch McConnell and to Kevin McCarthy saying the official position of Republicans should be that under no circumstances should we vote for the national defense authorization act if it continues to include this provision to draft women or at least as an at least get rid of the draft

"The Salvation army's leadership team just created and quote international social justice commission Which has developed and released a resource to educate its white donors volunteers and employees called let's talk about racism It is search Christianity as institutionally racist calling for white Christians to repent and offer quotas sincere apology unquote to blacks for being antagonistic to black people or the culture values and interests of the black community Again dehumanization of the individual ladies and gentlemen were not all human beings Wanting the same things Deserving respect So no no we're communities While many have come to believe that we live in a post racial society but racism is very real for our brothers and sisters who are refused jobs and housing If you refuse a job or housing because you're right you have a tremendous federal civil rights lawsuit And you can make millions if you can make your case Denied basic rights and brutalized no press simply because the color of their skin one lesson explains There's an urgent need for Christians to evaluate racist attitudes and practices in light of our faith and to live faithfully in today's world Now when an accompanying study guide on racism to call it study guide on racism Salvation army authors explain all whites are racist even if they don't realize it Quote Sunday school curriculum that only uses white photography and imagery is an example given that perpetuates injustice says we must stop denying the existence of individual and systemic institutional racism They exist and are still at work to keep white Americans in power the lesson says

"the house" Discussed on Ace On The House

"Drywall from the ceiling. Beam will the plaster cover up crack later. The ceiling beam is the one with the hanging lights on over the counter not plaster. He's saint clair drywall. I think so be ax. Is that what he's asking about. Yeah all right. So what is he going to do is gonna go up be x. Is flax rome. Acts are sorry flex conduit with wires already inserted. Don't we just wanna punch a couple of holes in it and run the feed through and then patch the holes. What's he he's not gonna do the entire. I'm trying to figure this out. I will say this if you wanna run. Be axe through five eighths drywall. Ye enough switch. You're going to be about even with the surface. And if he tried to mud over it it's going to crack. I think that that's not gonna. I think punch a hole by the switch punch a hole in the sofit and then feed it all the way cry. I agree but his question is still. How deep do you have to bury the tax In order to make it work. Now let me say this. Biak's is flax with wires in it and it's around. Rome is flat the profile on romance depending on what caged wires but the profile on rome x. Is quarter inch and you can get the romance staple so theoretically and i'm just answering this question. Not recommending people do it this way but theoretically one could channel. Drywall put rome x. Up there with a staple and then skim coated with you. Know not joint compound. You need some sort of plaster fix pair. Then i wouldn't use fix all fix dress rock heart be and whatever but there's some plaster repair whatever gaps. It's gonna crack. It's terrible i. I i would. I think what you could do is you could channel it and then tape it with mesh tape over the channel. So much work. It's it's massey. Just make a lot of work and feed wire. Like electrician's do i agree. I'm just saying. I don't know if he can do it or how he can do it. Because when you make holes you can then go stud stud and patch another square and there or can use those metal patches cheap metal with them and just go right over that. It's so much easier by the time you channel drywall. Forget it's going to take days mass. Yeah it's gonna be a disaster you're always going to see it. yeah By if that's what i was still in i would go with romak staples mesh tape and plaster patch right or some version tangible and then you could skim over the whole thing with joint compound topic i would venture to say if he and i were racing and he did that and i removed all the drywall and just did it all over again. It would be faster you know what's drummer what you're on the challenge a race. A drywall. race all right. What do we got. We got another question if there man. Yeah we'll jump back over to the twitter and again please or tweet us at eight on the house and this twitter question says any ideas on how to repair my rabid dogs work on stairs. Wow we dog chewed off the corvette upstairs with like a. And there's like drool stain on the shag carpeting next to the transition which is horrifying. You could soak it out make a delicious broth out of that in my right. There is Oak the dog chewed on the okay. Got the side of the tread that was hanging over bowl knows. Yeah it's a disaster. It is okay There's only one way to do that. Yeah you've gotta get some of that Epoxy would mold stuff. Yeah and are you telling you mean are you talking about bondo. Yeah well yeah now. They have would repair j. b. weld does something well. Yeah and build cornerback up with a little form. You need to build the corner back up. I don't even know if you need to form it because you can kind of work it kind of work by by you have to kind of shape it you know what i mean and after build up that corners three inches in three inches the other way. And and then you need to very artfully take some like burnt umber something and continue the grain detail top of it and then you have to stain the whole thing that You know antique brown or whatever the hell that that is over there like it's never going to look good. It's not gonna look perfect. That's okay. Can i ask you another question can you had. Yeah i will tell you this. Because i have done this. If you work with a competent fo- painter. Yes they will make it work. Yeah now that ain't you but it somebody so along the lines of what you just said. Do we want to just sand the gristle off and make it flat and or round it out and just leave the wood and just stain it again to kind of look the same like do we care. Because isn't the dog. Then gonna chew the book the bondo or whatever. The hell we're using essentially go down and i have to put apple bidders dan into the old apple bidder. Binder stat plywood. I cannot tell. I feel like you wanna just sand it down and wound round right corner racket. Yeah yeah you and just start over with new stain. And that's it and you and move on 'cause the only other way to do it would be to remove that that bull nose piece of wood and put a new one in somewhere and breaking a bull knows could be routed into the tread. Well that's true. that's an advanced scenario. Can we have him do this now. I'm saying i don't know if you can pop the bull nose off. What i'm saying that you yeah. "Advice take in community so no ways traps arizona guy. I think so yeah. Escrow on september twenty fourth. Sweet looks slow. You shona hacienda. That's the kind of place you'd find a drug lord with with a linen shirt on linen and maybe even linen pants withdraw love that look. That's that's right. A horse on allah and one other follow up here. Now as i would never ever doubt any advice you give on the shell. Rick would think otherwise. Boy he says ace. Silicone does not work for mirrors. It will hold for awhile. Trust me it will fall. My crew ran out of mastic on a school workout room. They used a high quality silicone for the last mirror on the wall and it fell off within four months. Wait that's the place where the entire wrestling team had their genitals cut off by a fallen mirror. I heard that's a terrible story. Well i believe well first things first. I was looking for mastic and could not find any mass thick the hardware store and i was out in malibu. There's nothing within twenty miles I then looked up silicone. We looked up silicone for mounting mirrors. I do believe and they said it can. It can be used for that now. My thing is aita j. channel the mayor and then tilted the mirror up the wall so i really only needed that thing not to fall four and gravity was going to do most of the work and not holding the entire way to thing because the jay channel took that right right so i did that but yeah listen i would use master but i don't know we can look it up now. I thought we looked it up. I thought they said i'd never seen it. I've never seen it never seen selleck. Now well silicone is the kind of weapon of choice. The universe a weapon of choice when you're trying to hold shit. Sure i've done plenty of silicone ing a plywood and pictures and things like that. Like to a stucco all and that kind of thing but again i wanted to use the mastic i. It didn't have it now. But know like i said also you can do a little clip keeper at the top you really just saying. I need to sing not to fall for correct. And it's not. That's not gonna take a lot of adhesive for that all right question. Yeah we'll move onto our emails. You've course tweet us at ace on the house. You want to send us an email as on the house at adam. Corolla dot com. And if you wanna see pictures and whatnot. Go to ace on the roof. Dot com here is an email from brad. Ace eric get it on so my ten year. Old houses started to develop some mildew question mark on the limestone. The vertical sides of the house have never been pressure washed but the flat part in front of the door was done about five years ago to questions. I was going to rent a pressure washer. And take this off then sealed the flat portion in front of the house. But is there anything that could be done for the sides of the house. I'm assuming it's unorthodox to seal the side of the house. Sounds like it would be a pain in the asks and question to. Would you mix any cleaning solutions question. Mark into the water of the pressure washer. And that's brad in austin texas. I bet that that side of the house is the east side and doesn't ever get son so it's always gonna be prone to potentially getting mildew and not sure it is mildew because what if it's just roof runoff that's dirt and sits on that ledge. Yeah you know what i mean. That's pretty black for mildew. Okay thanks pressure washer. Good i you know went in doubt. Espn's good try sodium phosphate They have. I'm just kinda spitballing here. But stromer knows they have mildew additive. You can put to paint for like bathroom paint. Yeah fungicide thing. There is an additive for that so there might be something for the pressure washer world to not only remove existing mildew but prevent new mildew from growing so i would definitely investigate that I'm not sure. The question about the side of the house versus the back or front of the house but pressure washer ami sif they have mildew additives for pressure washer and and or mildew remover versus mildew retarded but keep in mind too You know we always have to remind the folks with pressure washers. You have to really be careful which tip you choose because you will literally throw lines an edge and you won't be able to get those lines out and this is the face of the house so definitely test the tip in an area behind bushes to see if it's doing that and creating some sort of a white you know it'll it'll peers like white lines as you're going back and forth with the wand so be careful which tip use yeah. Do not go with the fiercest grade. Correct hip yeah. Go with the least amount you need to be affect exactly. It does look like you go to a place like lowe's and they have additional additives and chemicals that you can play it but i would. Of course recommend you look at the pressure washer itself to make sure that it can handle it. Yeah yeah well. The pressure washer will be able to handle it. It has like a little container where you can do additives in in the container along with the out i got a little hopper. Yeah like two strokes yup exactly. Wow interesting yeah. I gotta catch up on my pressure. I love it. I use mine all the time in my own home. You know it's like a. It's just a great quick easy. You can wash your car. You can blast the house outlaw. Game mine's actually battery operated rail. Yes yeah yeah. How'd you know 'cause. I don't i think they're the only ones who make that. I'm not the only ones. But that's a rival via tool. Yeah and by the way. I never bought anything super cheap. Well yeah of course harbor harbor free talk well you know a lot of the time the good stuff you need like the great saws and cutting tools. You're never gonna cheap out but that stuff you know come on you know. I've had this this demo hammer this jackhammer now for almost two weeks. Eight shipping hammer is not. It doesn't come with a dollar. no okay. It would've cost me a seventy dollar rental fee per day. it's already paid for itself And i'll use it when it breaks. Throw it away. Get a new one all right right now. Call that being a glow america. That's true other questions. Yeah let's do another email one. This is from just in. Hey guys get it on question. How deep of a notch do i need to run the cable and then mash and plaster over the cable is roughly half an inch and three quarter inch of plaster over a structural beam running across the ceiling. My clients want to light in their family room. And i plan on jumping power off switch at the other end of this. Beam the contractor who renovated the apartment. Didn't use any sleepers or whatever else you would call the ceiling furring strip to separate the plaster..

Like what are we doing here. I know what you be. There's already a steel. I beams that have been in there forever. Basically it's just taking out a jack post which is obviously a temporary fix putting something in there. "Then all of a sudden four months five months later we still have all these shortages. I'm not buying a guys. I'm not and i. I know what's happening. is we go. There's going to be a paint shortage. And he goes out and buys the paint for the next six projects and sticks it in the garage. Now there's a shortage because everybody went out and hoarded it like it's toilet paper so let's be careful. Let's not get crazy because there's all these different things going on out there but my advice is careful treading for the rest of twenty twenty one on those big expensive projects. I think overtime the longer you wait the more patient you are the cheaper. It's going to get because once they see that happening once they see that. Oh my gosh. People aren't buying stuff. "Yeah so yes they do that another thing you ask you. Have you have a teenage girl. Who's menstruating in the house and go white. Would you ask that question. Will because that for some reason attract poltergeist activity and it's usually around. The time of the moon. phases can win. That happens if you if you if you record poltergeist. Activity happens usually happens around the moon phases. And that's why they ask if you have a menstruating teenager because teenagers have a lot of emotional backup. They don't know where to do it. And so usually it happens around the time with girls around the time of the moon phase and moon phases are usually attributed to the benzes. What you know it's going to happen. I know those are weird questions to ask but this is real. This is real cult. Paranormal i mean most of the time when i see people on. Tv do their investigations. I laugh at them because they don't know you know some of the real reasons why this stuff happens now and so they asked you questions or you have someone who seem poltergeist. And they go into these situations they go. There's a spirit in this house. Go to light. go to the light. I was on go stunt once and it is true story. I always tell the story. Because i think it's a great story I went on goes on with someone and it was. It was some poltergeist investigator. That i know who it was. Some one of those people who are the light and laughter enlightened rainbow type people who believe that they show up the ghost is going to flee into the light and so they go. Go go to the light. Trying to get the spirit to crossover and so i was in the middle of a ghost hunt. Once i heard a a light rainbow person. Say go to light. And i said can i ask you. Question is what's that i said. Why did you say that. Just because i want them to go line one crossover. I says why. Don't you go to the bathroom. And she goes what i go. Go to the bathroom. Because i don't want to go to the bathroom. I want you to go to. The bathroom. kept saying we're going go to the bathroom she goes. I'm not going to go to the bathroom. I says that quipped telling the ghosts too right. I said because you're not gonna do us any. I mean go sir here for a reason. Yeah i mean sure. If they felt that their life was finished. And they're going to jump on the the light train to the to the afterlife concentration camp and fine. They'll do that. Yeah but the the problem is is that people tend to think that they've lost their way. That's why they're here. And all of a sudden you have. The wisdom gavin was the beginning to all a sudden. They woke up one day. Oh the slight and rainbow hippie just told me to go to the light. i think i'll do it. Oh i see the light now But no and i told her i says don't do that and the reason why you don't do that is because most ghost if they're here they have something to say..

"These heating and cooling systems for clients. So he's very much in the trade you know. The two of them are sort of the yin yang of stuff and to get into that and to hear about these technologies. I mean it's miraculous. Right to hear about the progression of heat pump technology which is a good idea but never really worked in super cold climates. And now it's working you know. Below zero able to extract heat from more and more remote temperatures is remarkable sophisticated systems to your point where the the system learns and it balances itself you know the ability to send different amounts of refrigerant two different condensers throughout the house to help control The comfort in the house. I mean when. Richard you can see him light up with this stuff when you talks about assistant that so sophisticated that can tell that you know it. Midday does warmer on the south side of the house because of the sun's orientation and the system is able to capture heat from that side of the house and deliver it to the north side of the house and never have to spend energy to make to simply go and move latent heat from one side of the house to the other that a system could be in your house be that sophisticated and deliver that level of comfort and intelligence to you. It's marvelous it's absolutely marvelous. And it's one of the reasons why in our houses are more efficient than they've ever been why we're using less energy in ever increasingly bigger houses. it's transformational to the industry and that kind of stuff. We'd love telling that story. That's exciting stuff. It's exciting stuff. We'll kevin what do you see coming up on this old house. Anything exciting you guys have added the podcast recently. "Out there because that's not the point but there's people i've fought like ooh what's that. Oh that's cool. Sure and i had an interview that i'm like. Are you kidding me this. I was talking to a technology guy. And i've taught technology classes for hp but you know learning about products that can predict a electrical fire. A house that technologies out there. Now so it's it's really fun and exciting to see especially on the tech front where that's going we're just at the infancy of it now. But over the next number of years. I think the home tech front is going to be. It's going to make our lives more comfortable but a lot more safer as well. And i'm sure you guys are with home technology. It's got to be tough because you guys have such a history to the show to put something on there. That's of course tried and true even though it's new in trying to weave in we've and we've out a okay. This is a this is a real product vs hate. You sneak oil but there's plenty of snake oil out there as well. That's to be a huge responsibility. It's a little harder to do these days than it was back in the day because to your point about the sophistication of the technology how quickly it's being sort of put onto the market but also how new it is and you know you know. Tommy will talk about the benefits of a building paper tar paper you know. And it's and it's because he's had forty years of experience working with it before him people had decades working with and they can talk about it. They've taken apart houses and they've seen it still there. you know. So you have that sort of multi decade feedback that says it works and now they're stuff that was invented twelve months ago in his on market two months ago. And you're like wow it sounds like a really good idea. I mean could you imagine being able to replace all of the vent louvers on your forced hot air air. Consensual air conditioning system. Replace all the.

"Yeah faster potentially cheaper and potentially at a higher quality than if you did it over the course of three weeks given all the weather and uncertainty in those types of things quite type job potentially absolutely. I mean we. We were we were. I've i've got a buddy who works with me on on On the podcasts. Chris armies you know. And and he and i talked about this quite a bit and you know he's literally talking to some of these panels. Ation guys went down and saw one of these facilities bunch of old not old age wise but former framers who worked on the job site in the traditional way that you and i are familiar with who've now moved inside under roof to create wall panels in penalization company and he watched these guys pump out wall sections and is like they never bent over not once. They never knelt down bent over all of the materials. Were up a table height. All the tools were there ready to go and they whipped these walls out to a level of precision. You almost could not get on the job site and they whipped him out fast and accurate in a super high quality in a fraction of the time. We'll take to do it on site and at at at less than it would cost you or equally as expensive as doing it on site. Those things may be transformational and that might be the thing that attracts more people into the traits. You remember you remember growing up working on a job site part time high school or college. Whatever you know that age and you're the low man and it was almost a sport to see how hard they can make you work. Oh you know you know hump this stack of shingles up onto the roof. Go fast carry the and not just to make tough or bundles right. What are you doing right. You don't wanna time grab for those and get louder. Not ready for four bundles little on your body weight. But you're still doing great right in at the same time those guys would be like how come no one wants to get into this profession. Well i know it was fun to see how tough the kid was. But at the same time it didn't really make them feel great about the profession right. You know so you know maybe some of these people who want to put their creativity and their skill a little bit of computer this and working with their hands together. They may end up. You know making wall panels and panel association and have a big part of building america's homes and that can be and if that's a well paying lucrative job that challenges them and you'll get him into the working with their hands. That could be a pretty cool solution should has and you know what's funny in circle this background. It's interesting when i. When i talked to other contractors out there you guys kind of ended up as this old house is kinda the litmus test whether a product is real or not i know of plenty of remodeling contractors trades people. Whatever and if they haven't seen it on this old house in the past it's not ready to go into their home yet. It's kind of interesting to watch that with technology..

"You could understand. Richard to Who's our plumbing contractor has been on the show for forty two years. Ova has been on the show for thirty five years. I mean we're still working with some of the originals. And it's just the way we operate this is about. You know real homeowners but most importantly about real contractors performing the work that they do day in and day out on the only guy on the on the tv crew who doesn't practice a trade professionally you know and that's the hosts shop and the guy who asked the questions. I'm supposed to ask. Tommy and richard in jen mark morrow and heath. You know what's going on. And how do you do it. So that's a. We've got a culture that serves us well particularly today when the temptation to be assaulted with free stuff to talk about something because a sponsor has pushed it or paid for it. is rarely ever present. Were fortunate that we don't have to do that. Yeah it's great. It's great and is keeps the show very honest which i love because you know there's just such great information in there and all of a sudden it seems like you just joined that show the other day but to be honest if you look back the longest running host of this old house. It's kind of crazy. I remember when they asked me to to join the crew. I figured i'd be the shortest running host in fact. I told my boss at the company that i was leaving was like. Hold my seat album six months. Hope my name's not still on a chair in a cube at the bank because it's been nineteen years that's a blows my mind but it's also you know it's an honor and a thrill blessing to think that i get this still do what i do well and you. You started out as a homeowner ask this old house. That was almost a defunct kinda just trial. Wasn't you're there and they just all of a sudden you're now the host. Yeah it's true that was two thousand and three and the funny thing is asset. So house wasn't even on the air yet. No one knew outside of the production team that it was being produced new idea same guys but instead of big projects from beginning to end over the course of a year smaller projects were tommy Or rich would go and ring doorbell and saw the small problem for a homeowner. And that's what my wife. And i were doing fixing up a two family our first house right after we got married complete wreck barely livable working kitchen one working bathroom that kind of stuff and as soon as we ran into a jam having grown up. But the shows a kid like you. I you know. I don't know why we thought we would do it. "The extinguished it but as you might imagine if the fire doesn't get you the water damage does. Yeah so. She was out and she was struggling. You know she had to fight the insurance company for every penny and and went through a couple of contractors who thought they could do it but then couldn't and our job was to get her back in her back in quickly on a very tight budget into work within the confines of this existing three decker and it was a ton of fun because first of all. She's she was just great she was just a she is complete sweetheart but the house style itself is an iconic boston type of house. The three decker detached one floor over the other and it not just in boston or many urban cities were this house. Was the primary entry home for many many populations. I lived in a number of them. As i sort of worked my way through college in boston. And all that kind of stuff. Millions of other people did so we had some fun telling the story about three deckers celebrating the craftsmanship that went into bringing his house back. Man that is awesome. And that's that's a little bit different. You know it's interesting with you guys. And i don't know if everybody realizes it out there that this old house is run completely different than almost every other. Tv show out that you watch and no shade thrown up on the hdtv's of the world but many times when you're turning on a home and garden television show or any one of the other home improvement shows out. There were no matter what network on there are so many product placement pieces within that. And it's not really the history of this old house to be jammed. Full of free products at the home owner gets the homeowners are actually doing this project and you guys are working on their budget. And there's not a thousand products that our product placement within that it's true. The homeowners are on the hook for the entire cost of the projects. We don't sign up with them unless they're committed to pain for what they're asking the contractors to build or to renovate There are certainly lots of companies particularly in this day and age. Who want to throw product at us at the homeowners and it's permitted but because we're pbs. Were not allowed to show the brand name. We're not allowed to talk about them. In qualifying terms were not gratuitous about it and it's also part of our dna. Which is it's about the craftsmanship. It's about the right decisions. It's about finding the compromise between you know budget and what you want And that's our editorial focus and that has always been our editorial focus. Were fortunate that. I think we came up at an era before all of that. Social media and product placement so ubiquitous. And we're just fortunate that we work with the people that we work with..

"And golden. Can thanks for joining us. We've got a special guest today on the radio. We've got kevin o'connor host of this old house. Welcome to around the house my friend. Thank you eric. Great to be here appreciate the invite. Thanks man thanks for coming on. And man i do miss us catching up at all. The different trade shows and events that we cross paths with. It seems like it's been a decade only. It's been what sixteen months or something like that. I never thought. I'd say but send me to a trade show ready. I do crazy. I'm so tired of virtual seminars and that kind of stuff. I just want to be in person. I can't wait for the big one next year for the at least the kitchen about industry show is everything else. Tends to start going again with the. I'll tell you. I did a weird thing i did. I did a public event via zoom Which you can imagine exactly how that goes down at the end of it. They had a meet and greet line. And you've got to have your picture taken with thom. Sylvan myself on zoom meant which meant three people staring at a computer when someone said smile and they did a screen shot. And i was like this does not work. We gotta get back to do doing this in person. Oh man oh man. That's that's that's crazy you know it's it's and that's people ask me. Why don't i record these shows on zoom and stuff and quite frankly. I'm so burned out on microsoft team meetings in zooms. I just like going back to the good old fashioned phone call and have something here. That seems a little old school to mix it up until we're all back in person again. Works for me here we are. Oh yeah well you guys just are kinda wrapping up season. What forty one on this old house. See right guy. I've now become the guy on the crew of joined everyone else where i've lost track season. A forty one is airing now. We've wrapped the project. And it's going to be wrapping up on pbs. Soon we're about halfway through the episodes. We've already started the first project of season. Forty two for this old house in season. Nineteen i think of assis old house and for us a season is a year. So it's not like you do six season a year. This is forty two years of this old house. Nineteen years of acid house. You know. I have to give a lot of credit to this old house season two. Because i don't think i'd be in the home improvement design and construction industry..

"Money and I can buy any shape pasta and use any amount not just what's in that box from craft and I can turn any type of pasta into Mac and cheese isn't that brilliant and I can make quickey cheese sauce for again random recipes and I get the kind without all the junk in it and yes I know it's junkie to begin with but I get the least junkie kind. And there are a COUPLA brands out there in in different serving sizes I usually get the the one point five or two pound bag or container because it lasts longer. Have you ordered powder cheese. I'd love to hear know about it and so moving on to the led ceiling light with this is a good source settle in. The reason for this is because in my ricky old building, the light fixture in my foyer I mean that makes it sound grander than it really is. But what would you call that one and a half foot by one and a half foot patch of floor right inside the front door sounds better than you know well, front door area. Anyway I bought the led ceiling light because the light fixture that was there would no longer accept those Weirdo led light bulbs that are supposed to replace the regular good old light bulbs. You know the regular good old fashioned ones I miss those light bulbs don't you but anyway Oh and I found out that you're not allowed to manufacture them in the US anymore, but there's nothing against importing them. So you can go to like a dollar store or something instill by them. So sometimes I do that. But anyway so where was I All right. So the super finally came over replaced the light fixture and instead of fixing it, which is what I thought he was going to do. He replaced it with this led flush ceiling light, which was fine but after he left I turned on. The problem was that it was bright ugly white. So I'm a soft incandescent White Kinda girl in my house, and so the led ceiling light came in at about five thousand Kelvin degrees. That's how you measure color and just you know daylight is fifty five, hundred Kelvin degrees and soft white, which is what I prefer is anywhere from twenty seven, hundred to thirty, two, hundred Kelvin degrees and so when I left, no sorry when the super left. I figured dude, if he can replace the fixtures so can I I? Mean he installed it? So all I have to do is kind of backtrack, take it off, and then order one that's in soft white and so I requested that he leaves the packaging of the led light with me..

"Tiny cramped NYC apartment kitchen, and I use the various tools I've put into place to make certain jobs easier. I'm always so thankful I have them, and then I think I should share this info with the House of Lee nyc listeners right? That's you guys and you know I've been sitting on this episode idea for more than a year. It's a quirky show I know. So let's jump right in I. My main frontline tool is drum roll. pleased. Up PUTTY KNIFE What you ask? Yes a putty knife My refrigerator is so stunned stopped humming. Let me tell you why it acts as a gentle scraper for counter tops like no more scrubbing and rub into your forearms. Tired on. You know what I'm talking about. You've cooked and prepped up a storm and perhaps you didn't wipe the counter off as quickly as you thought you would. So then stuff gets stuck right? Even like little tiny crummy crummy parts, right? Little bits little I. I don't even know. What you call them, but you know all you need to do is sprinkle some hot water. Well, any water but hot water is better on the counter and then run the putty knife across the counter, a couple of times and every la all you have to do is wipe the counter off no scrubbing..

Keep Thinking <Speech_Female> what if they've got <Speech_Female> it on their hands, and then <Speech_Female> touch the package or <Speech_Female> would if they sneeze <Speech_Female> because I'll be <Speech_Female> honest with you. Some of the places <Speech_Female> I frequented <Speech_Female> before <Speech_Female> all of this going <Speech_Female> on <hes> <Speech_Female> they're open <Speech_Female> and they I've <Speech_Female> walked by and <Speech_Female> seen people not <Speech_Female> wearing masks <Speech_Female> while preparing food. <Speech_Female> so that <Speech_Female> bothers me <Speech_Female> and <Speech_Female> you know <Speech_Female> just like I went <Speech_Female> to get a <Speech_Female> Lotta the other day. Day <Speech_Female> from one of <Speech_Female> those big <Speech_Female> named chains, <Speech_Female> and even <Speech_Female> though they only had <Speech_Female> one person coming in <Speech_Female> at a time to pick up their <Speech_Female> orders, I saw <Speech_Female> the person handing <Speech_Female> them out. <Speech_Female> Wipe his nose <Speech_Female> and <Speech_Female> face, <Speech_Female> and then hand the Cup <Speech_Female> of coffee to <Speech_Female> the customer in <Speech_Female> front of me, I was so <Speech_Female> gross out seriously, <Speech_Female> and <Speech_Female> so that <Speech_Female> is what's preventing <Speech_Female> me from doing. <Speech_Female> Take Out, but maybe <Speech_Female> you're having <Speech_Female> a fantastic time <Speech_Female> with it I'd love to <Speech_Female> know that to please <Speech_Female> do share and <Speech_Female> reach out <SpeakerChange> and let me know. <Speech_Music_Female> If. I <Speech_Female> guess in somebody <Speech_Female> needs to do a scientific <Speech_Female> study. <Speech_Female> Or maybe there have been studies <Speech_Female> done well. I guess <Speech_Female> so studies <Speech_Female> show that you need <Speech_Female> the human <Speech_Female> interaction, <Speech_Female> and and <Speech_Female> the actual <Speech_Female> energy <Speech_Female> of of <Speech_Female> people in in your <Speech_Female> space right, <Speech_Female> and so <Speech_Female> that is what's lacking <Speech_Female> I mean you know <Speech_Female> my family, <Speech_Female> my husband, my <Speech_Female> child. "So. Yes, if you were to come over to my house I, would ask you to wash your hands during this this cove in nineteen situation and hopefully that will stick with you even after it's long gone because again, washing hands really does prevent a lot of colds, and so that is my tip for you I wish and hope that you're safe. You're well. You're not sick and that if you need to figure out how to make Santana sanitizer. That's how to do it now. You may be asking yourselves or me. Saint Lee why why? Why make your own sanitizer? So the reason I created my own version of hand. SANITIZER is because I cannot stand the consistency of the stuff that comes in the pump I just. Don't like it. It's squishy and. And so if I have to use it, here's what I do. Here's another tip so if you have to use the squishy pump hand sanitizer, put it in a Napkin. I and rub it into the Napkin like take two sides of the NAPKIN. Rub it into the Napkin and then wipe your hands off with it then it's not so squishy Nikki in my opinion. But again the best way is to actually just wash your hands and I could go on and on, but I think we've been inundated about corona virus, so I'll leave it there. I would like to share a shout out. That was given to me via house of Lee NYC Dot. com you can go there. Leave voice memo, and so I met up with dawn from I three bliss dot net, and so she left me a message. We met in the elevator. Actually she's got a creative intuition course at her website I, three bliss dot net, and again that is again is in letter I three the number, three bliss, or you can go to. The Bliss Dot Net, actually just go their intrinsic bliss dot net, and you'll meet dawn and to check her out anyway. Let's have a listen to what she has to say. Highly, this is dawn, so I was. Listening to your podcast and I thought it was really interesting that you thought that you said that I could go to your website and leave you a voice message, so this sounded pretty cool to me so I'm checking it out now and I'm leaving him a voice message I just really enjoyed listening to the episode where you talked about the book that you're reading. About basically embracing another you know I identity, or what have you on? That really resonated with me, so I'm glad I took that one, and you have such a nice radio, voice. So. Anyways, I hope you how to save travel back. Hope you have an awesome day. Thank you don for that..

"How to have a Christmas tree. When you can't or don't want to have one a rather, you want one, but you can't or don't want to have a real of physical three. D Christmas tree in your house. I. I would like to say. Thank you so much for staying with me. Tuning in and sharing the show with your friends and your family also I would like to ask that you continue to share the show that least two other people who you find might enjoy hanging out with us. You know that's you and me. It's so easy. Just click share in your favorite podcast, listening APP or just ask their permission to subscribe them for them with their phones. You know how it is. Or direct them to house of Leeann. WIESSEE DOT COM. Thank you so much. Lower. So today's how to for simple life for simplified life I should say is from my friend's Shantelle Burkhardt. She works for the Deutsches Haus at Nyu, and you know the Swiss and the Germans. They really know how to do Christmas and here's the thing, so. Chantal said that she was going out of town back to Switzerland actually and so her family here wanted a tree, but they didn't want. WanNa treat if you know what I mean. And she came up with a charming, simple, lovely elegant solution, and I'm going to post a picture of it on social at House of Lee Nyc, so please follow the show which means you're following me, thank you. And it's really this. It comes down to getting some garlanded of any diameter or length you like. War Or Green. Yarn, and Using it to create on your wall, a Christmas tree outline outline of a Christmas tree now tell used a hot glue gun. In my head, I was like Oh for a rental I'm not sure what that would do to the wall on the other hand. Hot Glue is just kind of dry rubber. Right in a way. I mean I don't know the the actual breakdown of it, but it seems like it might not harm the wall, but if you're really concerned, it was going through my mind thinking well okay if I were. Were going to do that on my wall? What would I use instead of a hot glue gun? You could use painter's tape. You could rip off a big strip a lengthwise rollet, so it becomes like a double tape kind of an action, or you could use those command strips right, and you could also use that poster putty you know depending on how heavy the Garland is or the yarn that you're? So it's really cool and I'm going to show a picture of it, and then the other thing is what chantal does in. Her House is on each day that the tree is up until Christmas is. She puts up an ornament inside the outline of the Christmas tree, and you'll see in the picture. She's got a couple of little charming, cute, little bell like ornaments on the wall inside the outline of the Christmas tree. It's so adorable Oh. My Gosh, and it makes perfect sense now I'd always. Thinking well, if you're like me and you don't have any real estate on your walls, because it's all tied up with pictures, and or maybe you just have a small apartment like I do. And that the walls are configured kind of oddly I guess. What you could do is you could take a piece of paper and make an outline of a Christmas tree. That way don't you think or maybe put it on a cabinet, and of course a fix? It was something that doesn't ruin the surface of whatever you're putting the Christmas tree outline on all my gosh. It's so cute, but I as one who loves Christmas. Really appreciates tip because there may be a time when you or I, we don't have the wherewithal to have a physical three d tree, real or plastic, whichever no judgments, and so this is a charming and yet elegant solution. So thank you so much. Chantal and I might add that if you've never been to Germany or Switzerland at Christmas time, you should really. Really, check it out because they know how to do Christmas and while I've never been to Switzerland. This is what I've heard. This is what chantal has mentioned, but I have been Germany several times as you know, my husband is German, and so the Christmas markets actually think originated in Germany and so they're so charming, and the lights are are so holiday. For lack of a better word or description so much fun, the holiday spirit is in the air, and so that is might tip for Christmas trees. If you want one, but don't want one and I would think that you could do the same thing with the Minora If you didn't have room on your table top for one or counter space, you could make an outline of one as well I guess you could use a gold or silver or metallic yarn or Gold Garland. That could be kind of cool. Thank you so much for listening today? I know that you've got other options and I really appreciate you hanging out with me and let him be part of your day and again. Thank you so much. Please do share this show. If you feel up to it, thank you. Take care and we'll talk soon. Bye Bye! And happy holidays. Bye Bye..
