Are Republicans Harnessing This Opportunity? Alex Marlow Weighs In

"Ask, I want to ask another question here, which is, do you think Republicans are handling or harnessing this opportunity correctly? Because this could be a once in a generation wave where we could win in places we would never able to win otherwise get really amazing mag America first people into office. Do you think Republicans are handling this correctly? I think that what happened with the then trying to cave on red flag laws, for example. And trying to buckle on gun control is an example of them not handling it well. It's very clear from my vast audience at Breitbart News and the Breitbart News daily show that we have and from our social pages, people don't want any compromise to Democrats right now. Write it out, they want to wait for November. They can't wait to vote. They're going to vote almost all of them out that they can. And then maybe we can talk about what's next. But they certainly don't want any sops to the gun growers. And that we all know what red flag laws are going to they're going to turn into. They're going to turn into people who don't have your political worldview, getting targeted. Or on their Second Amendment rights. And yet you got what was it 14 Republicans supporting it in the Senate. That's appalling to me and that they think this is good calculus shows me. They haven't learned all their lessons from the past 5 or 6

Stacey Abrams Compares Russian Invasion to U.S. Voting Rights

"Stacey Abrams is on The Daily Show You notice how they keep pushing these candidates of the far left The daily schmo The Daily Show And I want you to listen to how people are so glib about what's taking place in Ukraine and then project themselves into the situation because they are so self righteous Stacey Abrams cut 7 go We are a stronger nation when we allow people to participate And if we ever doubted that the war that Putin is waging against Ukraine president zelensky said I'm going to paraphrase him and probably poorly He said this isn't a war on Ukraine This is the war on democracy in Ukraine When we allow democracy to be overtaken by those who want to choose who can be heard and those choices are not based on anything other than animus or inconvenience then that is wrong So in other words ladies and gentlemen your Putin and the Russians attacking Ukraine sees Ukraine She self righteous She just wants more people to vote She is a fraud and a huckster As is Stephen Colbert they're a joke

Stacey Abrams Compares Russian Invasion to U.S. Voting Rights

"What Stacey Abrams told Trevor Noah on The Daily Show? This week, I hope you're sitting down, you want to think this woman is normal? Stacey Abrams, the queen of rigged elections, she's suing the Georgia election commission. For the 2018 election, now I want to know how the media is going to cover Stacey Abrams lawsuit. Because I thought you weren't supposed to challenge the outcome of an election. Or you were a traitor. Or worse. You got to hear this exchange. Here's Stacey Abrams talking to Trevor Noah last night on The Daily Show. We are a stronger nation when we allow people to participate. And if we ever doubted that, the war that Putin is waging against Ukraine, president zelensky said I'm going to paraphrase him and probably poorly. He said, this isn't a war on Ukraine. This is the war on democracy in Ukraine. When we allow democracy to be overtaken by those who want to choose who can be heard, and those choices are not based on anything other than animus or inconvenience, then that is wrong. Wow. So Stacey Abrams compares Ukraine's invasion. To voting rights in America and. Is the media going to say a word about it?

"And I am reluctant to get too far down the road with the whole Joe Rogan thing Yes we have a problem with corporate censorship especially when they're under the control or at least direct influence of the government And that's exactly what we're seeing with Joe Rogan Because we've literally had elected officials say that he needs to be censored Now yes I know they didn't pass a law but we've learned haven't we They don't need the past laws You show me the law in your state forcing you to wear a mask when you go on public transportation or in a show me how the legislators in your state wrote debated and voted on a law about masks and mask mandates and you won't find it because it was all done by governors under the auspices of a state of emergency Those aren't laws my Friends Those aren't laws And so they don't have to actually make laws to censor When you've got the Surgeon General and the White House spokesperson and other elected officials talking about how broadcast or streaming entities should really be silencing and censoring one of the people who use their platform it's basically like the mob walking up to your door saying hey a really nice house here to be a shame for it to go up in flames That's a really nice streaming service you got there to be a shame for there to be some regulation that might get in the way of you making money By the way if we mention we really think you should censor and silence and take down podcasts by this one guy

Larry and Roland Martin Debate Hillary Clinton's Character

"Many of you have talked about the debate that I had in 2016 before the election with a left wing host named Roland Martin who used to work at for CNN as a pundit. And now he's on YouTube with his show. I think it's a daily show. And so he came out to Inglewood, black church, full audience. I would say 95% of them were hostile to the great elderly, but I didn't care that I was on hostile grounds. And I went to the debate, and we had a very lengthy debate, for crying out loud, rolling. We have a binary choice, a choice between Hillary Clinton and a choice between Donald Trump. And don't get me started on Hillary's character. This is a woman who maligned all of her husband's accusers. A woman named juanita Broderick claimed she was raped by Bill Clinton and two weeks after the alleged said that Hillary verbally intimidated her. There are at least two well regarded books, one called hell to pay and one called no one left to lie to that describe Hillary hiring private detectives and getting lawyers to dig up dirt on her husband's accusers knowing full well that she and he had a deal that he could do whatever he wanted. All to malign the accusers so that the Democratic Party were able to get votes. And don't get me started on Bill Clinton. That's today. He is still a serial cheater. Colin Powell said he still blanking bimbos. And when Bill Clinton entered the room, he gets a standing ovation. You are full of hypocrisy. You love Bill Clinton? But Donald Trump is too immoral to be

"the daily show" Discussed on The Suburban Women Problem

"Can you believe it? I can not believe it. I know, right? We spent 32 episodes of amazing guests at incredible conversations. But before we start waxing two nostalgic about season one, there has been a lot going on in the news lately. Oh, so Amanda, Jasmine, what's on your mind? We're gonna take a deep breath there first. I know. It's like so many things happening all at once and it's kind of like, can we take a breath though? That's my question of the day is I can't even take a breath. I think one of my favorite things that happened and not because I am a fan of arson by any stretch of the imagination. I know it's gonna be the Fox News Christmas tree going up in flames. It's about Hanukkah. Wait, no, it's not. But if anyone has not seen, is it The Daily Show? I think it's a daily show. Yes. Oh my God. It is hilarious. Pine tree 11 never forgot. You have 11. Because pine 11. Yeah, 9 11. You have to see just the sincerity of their idiocracy. They are just so sincere and they're like, we're going to rebuild we're not going to let this destroy us. And build back better. They are going to build back better. They cared more about a Christmas tree in New York than they do all of the fires and all of the West Coast. Or a whole terrorist attack by domestic terrorists at our state. At our U.S. capitol, like come on, they're like, oh, this is horrible. This is a travesty. This was America's tree. I'm like, oh, but American government. That's cool. If that goes up into flames, it was just everything about that. Yeah. Yeah. It was like everything they said was written by SNL writers. So you can't believe that they were serious about it. But on a serious note though, it was awesome. It was set by a mentally ill man, and I just find that ironic in the sense that they don't want to provide medical care for people. And so that they can have the medical care they need. And I don't know. I mean, maybe that's looking too into it, but it struck me as a tad, ironic is, yeah, and yeah, we give mental healthcare if you're in prison. So basically, once you have a knife or a gun in your hand, you point at someone, then you get mental healthcare. Yep. And I know here in Georgia, literally our prison system is the number one mental health provider of our state. The number of mental health provider. And I could go down a whole rabbit hole about how horrible access to mental health is whether you have insurance or not. Like it's just really difficult. So, you know, this all of this stuff ties in together. So yes, while that Fox News reaction to their tree going up in flames was absolutely ridiculous..

"Were first documented in pennsylvania in two thousand fourteen. While they aren't a threat to humans are pets. They feed off seventy types of plants and trees in the four years since they first showed up at vine crest vineyards and winery in pennsylvania. They've caused hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of damage. You see that we want you to identify. We want you to squish okay. Whoa whoa whoa. Whoa whoa whoa. Whoa you conscious. Tell untrained civilians to go insect hunting. It's going to end in disaster. People are gonna be out on the street killing innocent butterflies. Shit what have i done. I'll just say it was affiliated with isis. Does that work. I mean i will say though. This is a nice change of pace. you know. Usually the government's always telling us. Oh you have to save this animal shave that animal and now finally we have an animal. We're supposed to kill. I think it's good to have that balance in life. You know yeah you wanna save the spotted owl but then you allowed to squish this little shit. I think all rule should be like that like if we're required to wear. Mosques should be allowed not to wear pants in public that's balanced. Cnn yen so basically it's up to all of us to stop this invasive species from destroying everything. I'm not how confident i am guys. Because judging by our current track record coming together to stop a deadly threats. I feel like we're only a few weeks away from the world being covered in these spotted lantern. Flies you can't make me stop on the land flat. This is a free country. Throw off so much to live on our top story. The corona virus pandemic. It's the second war. America is losing in twenty twenty one. This pandemic has been making life really hard on a lot of people restaurant owners students horses who just have to get used to being full of worms now but perhaps nobody has been hit harder than nurses early in the pandemic whenever seven pm rolled around wheel stopped doing would our windows and we would clap for the nurses every night. Unless i was in the middle of a really good show or something like tiger king you guys remember target king man. Damn that got us through some of the tough times. Yeah give it up tiger king king. I love it but the point is we all recognized. The heroic sacrifices that healthcare workers making during the pandemic and then at some point. We'll stop clapping but nurses never stopped sacrificing and right now. Things are as bad as ever a grim picture. As the delta variant grips the nation hospitals across the country overwhelmed by the unvaccinated right now ninety seven percent of the people in the hospital with cova de nearly all the cova deaths being reported are among the vaccinated exhaustion. Turning into outright anger for some healthcare workers treating unvaccinated cova. Patients were frustrated or aggravated. This could have been prevented a we could've avoided this whole wave. If more people in our country had gone and just gotten to shots when they're all these people are dying who didn't get vaccinated are wishing got the vaccination is wearing and it makes us angry. Yeah people i don't blame. These healthcare workers one bit for feeling fed up. They're being forced to deal with completely preventable crisis. That's not what they signed up for. They signed up to treat people for things that we don't have vaccines for and to pretend not to judge you when you got where things stuck up your but like nurses don't have a problem treating people that were rescued from a burning building. But i think what would annoy nurses though would be treating people who intentionally ran into the building because they saw tick talk. That said fire. Can't burn you if you're in your thirties. I mean think about how frustrating has got to be this pandemic could be under control by now and it should be under control but now they have to fight it all over again. It's like if when world war ended. Everybody said hitler's dead. Let's go home and then one guy was like no. I fixed them guys. Know he's angry then ever understand pissed off right now and no matter. How dedicated you ought to a profession. Everyone has a breaking point and nearly two years into serving on the front lines of this war. A lot of them are starting to update their lincoln's some hospitals experiencing critical staffing shortages as frontline workers. Say they feel like they're underwater survey during the pandemic found that sixty two percent of intensive care. Nurses are burned out burnout stress grueling hours there are multiple reasons. Career nurses are choosing to leave. Mississippi has at least two thousand fewer nurses than it did. At the beginning of the year in kentucky more than twenty hospitals report critical staffing shortages. In hard hit new york. There was a four hundred percent increase in nurses looking for new jobs. People just still honestly do not understand how severe this is. How bad staffing for nursing is a win. Tom's are tough and things are getting rough. They'll have a pizza party. You know you gotta spread really really thin and we can't get new nurses but here's pizza. Okay no people. No you cannot solve a nurse shortage with a pizza party. In fact it's probably gonna make the problem worse because it's the last food you want to feed someone who needs to stay awake for a double shift i mean. How many times have you had a pizza. And then gone on to run a marathon. Never that's how many times you fell asleep on the couch covered in pepperoni grease using the empty box as a blanket which is surprisingly won't but obviously nurses quitting is a huge problem because it's not like filling most of those positions. I mean who would want to become a nurse now in the middle of a pandemic. So why do you want to be a nurse. I get to hold the bags of p. Well you're the only person who applied so congrats you got the job. Look man nobody can blame nurses who decide that they just can't take this anymore because people quit jobs for way less way less. I once quit a job. Because i forgot my computer password and i was not in the mood for another wedgie from it but for those who do remain the dwindling number of nurses means that their job is only getting harder and as an extra insult. Some of their colleagues are abandoning ship for much stupider reason. At a time win they're already staffing shortages. Some nurses are threatening to quit air force to get the covert vaccine one hospital upstate new york. We'll stop delivering. Babies after workers resigned over vaccine mandates houston hospital system has fired or accepted the resignations of more than one hundred and fifty nurses and other.

The Days After 9/11: Will Things Ever Be Funny Again?

"On amazon music or with one plus in the days after nine eleven it really did feel like nothing would ever be funny again. Welcome to the late show. This is our first show on the air. Sense of new york and washington were attacked. Even the men on late night had abandoned their post. Then shuffled back. One by one cowed by their lack of words to describe what had happened. Letterman came. I watching all of this. I wasn't sure of that. I should be doing a television show because for for twenty years we've been in in the city making fun of everything making fun of the city making fun of my hair making fun of paul well. Conan came the next night. I will be very honest with you. I have no idea how to do what we've been doing. I know i have no idea how we're going to get back to doing this again. That's how we all feel. And then jon stewart two nights later. I was a producer on the daily show. Then standing just offstage with the rest of the staff feeling like someone had pulled the parking brake at full speed. Our senses of humor had dropped right out of the bottom of the car. So we're we're gonna take a break. And i'm going to stop slobbering on myself in the desk and we're going to get back to this and it's gonna be fun and funny and it's going to be the same as it was and i thank you. We'll be right back. I just assumed well. We can't do humor todd. Hanson was the head writer at the satirical newspaper the onion at the time. Everyone on the staff assumed that and so we cancelled it and we just went dark and of course who cares. It's just comedy right. But here's the problem the onion isn't just a scrappy. College comedy thing anymore. They have financial backers they have payroll. They have add biased fulfil hell. They still have to pay. They might be giants. Healthcare is backwards. Luckily there's forward a new approach to primary care that surprisingly personal and refreshingly straightforward.

"Outrageous. Everyone is mad about this. So me joining. You and being angry isn't always going to be the best way to inform and educate and present again like bill say-say flip it to the other side and show a different way through the topic and that's where you're able to find a lot of new comedy and you know. I think that behind a lot of anger is hurt so if you can fine hurt you can usually tap into what people have filling without matching their level of screaming and yelling. I when i joined the show back in the day pretty under john. Pretty classic correspondent rule. Which it's irony. i'm this heightened. Dumb white guy version and irony is the number one thing you have in your tool belt and any what's been interesting over the last five. This year's one leg. Trevor came in as did donald trump as did like a seismic change in a bunch of stuff and like over the course to trevor more interested in bringing your own personality to that thing so like a straight irony wasn't lane as much or simply because that felt a little bit dated partially because donald trump was hyperbole in of itself so it was hard to out trump trump and you felt that skill set and the correspondent sort of shift and i went away and i played a high high-concept character will point and then also did shows as myself but i feel like even now like coming back and doing stuff on the show like you still play with irony. You still play with being the dumb white guy and that character. That is there but i think donald trump has stripped away of their bs. And now you just versions of yourself in some way and so. I think that's part of that. It was really fun to play too. I see myself going to rallies. Now in it's it's not that on some dummy talking. Ironically i can use that tool here in there more often than not what people respond to is like they see yourself within that character. Because that's kind of comedy is right now we wanna see authenticity. Even if you are using other comedic tools you have to be able to show them what your point of view is underneath and not just lived so far away from what the point of view. That person who's experienced some might be at makes us in in jordan. I gotta say man. I have respect for you. Because i love the interview. Did with adam schiff or were you got him to say bat shit on camera that was you know a lot of a lotta season. Journalists have tried to get powerful people to swear but what you do is if you stand out in the cold and you really go at somebody for long enough with stupid questions you'll get them to swear and then you will put that comedy central and you earn your health insurance for a week. So there's so. Is that a thing. They something for yellow cross hoping that the thing.

"They're all going to wear a bunch of hats It's your not just somebody who does one thing on the daily show you do a bunch of things and so i do think that's part of the reason. This show has thrived during this because it's asked him everybody like where a bunch of hats be as creative as you can work fast. And luckily that's been the job since day one jordan. I wanted to ask you a particular. I mean you've crafted the space where you're going out talking to. The trump is your. He went to the attack on the capital We just saw this piece where you talked to some of the people who are still out there is this comedy central his way of getting rid of you. Wild in a head designer. They they they. They can't get rid of me. They've tried to cancel their website. Has made it really easy to attempt to erase me but I'm i'm here to stay baby. Seventy in the middle middle coleman to budget of business And i will come back with some content. I tell you that much. I mean i do i i mean i love seeing you. Sorta interact with these people but Is easier danger of having to make pieces. Were you know the the focus of it is the lookout crazy these people are. I just can't believe how crazy these people are. It's it's wild to see the way folks react but to be honest like that is that i think if people are shocked. What happened on january six. We've been chronically in that since day one. I do think like what i am proud of is like we go there. No offense any other late night shows but they weren't at the capital it being attacked by insurrectionist and talking to folks who i'd seen at other rallies talking about the same. Bs that they push their while they push there because the strongest most powerful man on earth is giving them permission to do that. And so i do think like it's been scary since day. One and you know there's always the conversations about what are we giving air to. And what have you i think when i go to those rallies. It wasn't us just trying to find the thing being said what were tapping into what was being said at those rallies like these are the conspiracy theories that are going on these are the the mindset this is the misinformation that's only coming from somebody like donald trump who has all the power but it's coming from media outlets like fox news o. a. n. that'll crafting this narrative. And so. I love finding the comedy in that. I love going places and seeing what people actually think actually being there but i do feel like it's important for people to see that it's not just one crazy guy in the oval office This this point of view spreads it's out there and it's become ideology and it's become identity and it's become an american identity that that sometimes we have to. We have to grapple with and we're not just going to grapple with it through one election so i'm going to ask a question that may be controversial but i wanna know who sucks up to trevor's the most amongst all you and does that really get more of your pieces on the air. Does he me. I just have to say. I think what trevor is doing during this moment in time is just unbelievable. No one can start a conversation. Like trevor noah. I am never seemed talent. Or intellect like that ever before in my life and a i am looking for a raise right about now though seriously i i did want to ask you. I love the pieces that you do that. You've done about fox news both the fox planning and you know talking to your janie. Piero in it seems like fox. News is kind of interesting. Is that an interesting point. Now it's at a kind of a it's having a crisis of identity it's got two major competitors for the first time. What what's your sense about where that is going. And what kind of comedy do you think you maybe can mind from that. I don't. i'm very curious to see what they do from here on out how fox shifts its narrative. I think in a way. They might get crazier because they've got to compete. So i mean. I don't think fox news is going anywhere In terms of lake you know the spinning the crazy narratives. And and yeah. I know that they've got some some competition lurking but You know my conservative family members. Don't know how to find those channels but they do know how to find fox news. So i think there's still a base there i don't know i mean i'm very interested in all of that and saying how it plays out. You know what it feels like. It feels like when mtv expanded to Mtv too and so it's like interviews. Where like the older geneticist went and tv too was the wilder crazy. Espn to look like that's only. That's what those networks feel like. They feel like the world. That's really extreme. And i think that. That's probably the clippers point about trumpism. He's created competition for fox news like that's that's unheard of adults. I wanted to ask you. I mean once again where this moment where a black women have saved us from oblivion and You know i have. We shown the appropriate. Thanks to stacey. Abrams kandla harrison and ao. See for pulling us back from the break of oblivion the way they have and you never will you can now kamla. We give her flowers as often as we can. Stacey abrams from home state. We we try. We can but at the end of the day. It's start looking for us to pull us out. That's the thing that is like 'cause i did the piece about you. Know black wounded alabama. Saving them in our talk about black women. Did this black women did that. Sort of people looking at black woman to save them but they're not doing anything and not put themselves in a situation in the first place also would benefit we give Who's hoping that because it's like women for somebody. You need to have justice for briana taylor. That's what you need to do. Infrastructure emphasizing blend. That's what needs to have some putting us in these situations. Make an essay is like it's like i don't want to be superman. Stop making me getting tired of the side of a build. Okay with messed up with these super villains danger and have to help you. It's it's it's a weird place where just like we know. Black women saved us again. Just like we didn't do it for you. We saved ourselves you. You were udrea. Collateral benefit added. Wake up being like up happen. I make sure that everybody else is moral. Cayden me wants the say that we've got the child. Molester was being an officer alabama because he's a monster that's what we did we'd go to give people out in the vote doing all of these things the whole time. We're just finally not getting recognition for it but for now waking up. I didn't wake up a hair makeup on the pasta de willing to interview her. Hang a broadside akasa from the daily show with trevor. No ears edition is brought to you by the.

"Families and it's it's brutal tiny apartment. I live in queens hussein. I lived together in queens out in here is absolutely right. Because i was shooting for something. And they're like oh. Can you shoot somewhere else in your show and i was like no. This is my house. You get deceive. This many people have asked me. Is that a bathroom carton. This look like a bathroom to you. What are you talk about. You don't shower curtain. Don't play yourself like that but it has been a lot of money and see that conversation been full when you watch them on. This is a fresh from amazon. Not playing yourself like that I made this terrarium. So that's been the main thing it's because i would always i always talk to crew. Could i wanna know what it's like. I'm like this who was just do how you hold this. Might what's going on for me to be in here doing this. I'm like going to go to school for this. I'm a theater major. i have a degree in. None of this stuff happened right here. I didn't i. Didn't i understand that i'm talent fish. And that's that's that's what she came for which he was born to do. All this other stuff is. It's been a lot. I mean i'm glad to learn it Because i know all the technicalities took the rations but grocery done unless over here man it is. It's it's a full on family affair. My my husband is often holding the camera. Unlike prying the scooter from my five year olds hands. So that i can setup dolly shot like we are it is all hands on deck at all times. So it's We're definitely learning all angles et in after the lockdown happened. You guys were forced to work from home. They talked the extra fifteen minutes on the show. So what was that was at. What did you welcome that because maybe might give bits on or or does that make it even tougher because you you've got more time to film it's not one. It's not tougher because a lot of that. Fifteen minutes goes to trevor being able to go deeper into being trevor and exploring the conversations with with the guest. And you can tell you can just watch the interviews and thirties versus the forty. Fives and trevor is really pursuing his curiosities with the guest. The thing is that as we got better at this time and kosta can bow for me on this. Where the time to turnaround time from idea to conception to edit it from conception to air got shorter and shorter insurer it will be on monday. Can you shoot this thursday. What type of equipment do you have and somewhere around november december. It was ever gonna shoot this tomorrow now. You might get you might be emailed a script at ten in the morning that shoots at one time on the show that night and figure it out. I know you babysitters hiding candidate. They can get the vaccine. So you've got to bribe your child. And costumed clipper in a different situation because they have infants. That don't understand english it so i'd say with the forty five. The show is now reverting creatively back to what it was when it was in studio where we could be a little bit more reactive to news in the immediate but because we have the tape figured out we know how to do everything now so now. It's it's tougher in a sense that things can spring up on you and you're still juggling your regular life while this stuff is happening. That's pretty amazing. Look at as as one of many correspondents. I think we all welcomed the idea that there'd be more show and more opportunity for our pieces to be a little bit longer prior to forty five minutes. There was a thirty minute show but there was a lot of stuff that landed on the cutting floor so we can extend some of that stuff now. People are all at home trying to watch content so forty five minutes is good if they consume more of the daily show In roy's right as we got better. I mean nothing fazes this show and i don't say that as i'm part of that when they said that that this show is going to go on despite the pandemic. I thought everybody was insane. I thought the executive had lost their mind. How can we possibly do. I don't even know if i have skype. It it it all seems impossible and yet they took two days off three days off of air and we were the first ones out airing broadcasting the show immediately. And that's a testament to the staff the leaders and also trevor. who's like. Why are we stopping. Let's keep going and i. I was reluctant at first. And then seeing how they did it and they'd nothing fazes them. They just kept going. There's not enough credit. Given to the folks who who are constantly creating around the daily show like the correspondence. The writers obviously trevor a trevor give him space and he fills it with his curiosity and his intellect since i think that is a such a sweet spot where we have a digital team that is that is constantly creating things twenty four seven Pulling things together old clips making new ideas pulling things from the show adding things to the show feel department that has had to figure out how to make stuff work in. Somebody's apartment but also how to reinvent so that doesn't get boring with green screens to see what like constantly working with. Cdc require mississippi where we can shoot how to travel to those places. Even a few field shoots were able to do. I feel that. I could only talk to humans if there was a body of water between us and so i literally interview people between boats and and i do think that is the spirit of this show is. We're gonna make tv tonight. Out of whatever happens today. Get the smartest people you can. They're all going to wear a bunch of hats It's your not just somebody who does one thing on the daily show you do a bunch of things and so i do think that's part of the reason. This show has thrived during this because.

"Say they're not doing that now. Rest assured they're going to do it after they sit us. So i i know i know it's early days again but Do you have any about how comedy might be different in the post. Trump era has each changes in a way that even though he's not setting the news agenda the way we talk about. The stuff is going to be different. I think people want us to think that things are going to be different. But the formula of comedy hasn't changed destruction of comedy hasn't changed to the point where things are gonna become brand new so you know. Now it's just gonna be making jokes about another old white man who's the president said. This one's not trying to kill everybody. So i think the only big difference is going to be. It's that trump was a reality. You know name rally star 'cause like in the grand scheme of things we shouldn't have even known who he was he real estate and had businesses. There's plenty of people that do that in new york and in their name is on buildings. We don't know nothing about him. he wanted to shine. He wanted to get on. Want everybody to know who he was it. Now you're down as the only president who's been beached so congratulations but when it comes to comedy the structure of comedy the bones of comedy hasn't changed is just now we don't have to talk about this man who was taken up so much bandwith because that's what he wanted. Now it's you know like was saying he was a parody of parody and now it gives us the opportunity to really just do the parity has everything was before was we had to reverse engineer. What he was doing because this is outrageous. This look normal to then make it funny. Now it's others regular funny so if anything to deal with the nonsense anymore. I do think there's like a conversation that i know i'm having with producers in the field and other writers and other correspondents is like in this period of time. We do talk a lot more now. About how much publicity. We might wanna give something that there is even though we're here to tell jokes and we're here to shine a spotlight on issues. Like is their responsibility in talking a lot about cunanan or talking about like should we be giving certain subjects. Pr is there. Is there a balance. Is there like a a way to do that. In a funny way without necessarily like heightening the movement or the momentum of something like that you know those are in. And i don't i don't have an answer for it but they're certainly conversations that were having in this new era now in. That's interesting to me. Because like that's a conversation you'd expect to have like a outlet. That's a conversation. You would expect like cnn npr. To be having like i was. Your job is just to tell jokes but it's adding that you they you take on that responsibility and worry about giving cunanan or giving a trump because that's what that's what everybody's asking us journalist. Can't you ignore trump. Now that he's out of the white house. I think we start with what we care about and It's very hard to shoot down a pitch even though it happens every day if the correspondent or the producers are passionate about it so there are always jokes to be found. I mean maybe not every piece You can find jokes. It's too serious too sad. It's kind of like with clever was saying now. That trump has gone is kind of nice because we can pitch a little bit more about what we care about. As opposed to just reacting to the headline or the tweet i think i mean. Let's not kid ourselves. Trump is gone. Trumpism is here like even today. The news today is people arguing about how insurrection didn't matter. And you can't hold him accountable. In fact the senate is not going to hold him accountable and they just gave half of an entire party gave a pass to acumen spewing lunatic in the house who says her space laser starting wildfires. Like that's happening today. So just because donald trump's gone that's that's that's out we talk about you know following going out on the road and talking to other folks and you might not be talking to trump supporters. You're now talking to future house candidates and other people that have now been infected by this been given this misinformation and are now attempting to be a part of the culture in a different way and so there might be less of a focus on donald trump. But that doesn't mean the militias are going anywhere doesn't mean the power of lasers like the keepers isn't gonna pop up in effect folks. It doesn't mean josh holidays anymore. Shit at i think because of that comedy will arise. The show changed a lot. Obviously when the lockdowns happened and everyone had to work from home We could see on the screen with that was like for for trevor But what was it like for you guys when the show We have a lot to house. Everybody had to work from home and you had to figure out how to make things happen in a different way. I think the main thing was the tech aspect of it because it was alright right. We're going to see these lights. The these phones edited it. Because i will tell you that. Somehow she connected her iphone because they sent us iphones to film on because the easiest maneuver dizzy somehow connected her personal asphalt works phone and then some how cost the connected. His phone system work account so the does so he was getting like pictures. Debbie's son it now. Pasta win debbie's parents anniversary. Is this whole work life balance boundaries anymore. Beyond the tech. Eric was figuring out the performance within this box. In how as a correspondent. We have certain commute tools. And you start you understand. How much being in the room with. This person helps to create some of the tension or awkwardness. And you lose that on zoom so. It was figuring out ways literally in how to work. How do you go through this conversation in a way. That's still funny and tracks. All you're seeing is this and you start figuring out ways to kind of walk out of frame allen giveaway all the tricks but we over time started learning that and then you know well you know what if i could do that. Then maybe i could put up. A green screen give hates it. Everybody green screens and injure buki is giving us references. Oh microphones and condenses and sound dampeners. So it's definitely been building building the plane in the air but thankfully everybody started off at the same place in a nutshell. It took a global pandemic to get actors to actually appreciate the tech. I say i have never had more respect for our crew and how many people it takes to put together a tv show. I mean it is. It's so hard. That's so funny. Because now that i'm doing it i've never had less respect for. So when michael drops out that somebody on blogs update because they got upset there are huge hurdles technically. There's also huge hurdles emotionally. I mean we are in our homes. I don't wanna show everybody my bedroom. I don't want to show people where i eat. Dinner with. My family was after that bit. That they'll say did what she's looking at everybody's backgrounds man upraised. I mean obviously you re back and buries the book that says race baiter saw. That's my book. By the way. I knew that everywhere. Zoom with my friends back home and in michigan and their background is a pool or tree in la. They got like avocados behind. I mean this is new york. We're all in tiny apartments with with with.

Something's Wrong With Apple Podcasts

"Is apple. Podcasts still having problems well some. Publishers have reported that some new episodes taking many hours to appear in apple podcasts. Sometimes as long as seventy two hours we wondered how widespread the problem was of apple. Podcasts simply not noticing new episodes so yesterday we asked you to let us know if you to have seen this issue. We don't many emails in response. So here's some of what we learned one podcast host reports around five customer complaints day. Where it's been more than twenty four hours. Their feet is valid. And then you episode is everywhere but apple podcasts and it does take some convincing customers that it isn't the podcast host fault and other publishers says episodes of taken a full forty eight hours to appear in apple podcasts. For another their record is seventy two hours now. Few have told us that. If you log into apple podcasts connect and change the frequency of your podcast in the interface that appears to get apple to rescan your feed although they do say that sometimes new episodes appear and disappear a few times before being there permanently a few hours later. And we've seen that happening to in our testing podcast which is called pulled clock now apple is seemingly aware their support team has responded to one publisher saying this was an issue on our end with our service. There's nothing your end you can do to prevent it from happening again. It shouldn't happen again but if you do notice. An episode not live on apple podcasts. After twenty four hours please reply back. Longer and more pained feedback includes one person contacting us saying i have a daily podcast and at least once a week. My episode won't release on apple podcasts. It appears everywhere else. I've written to support about it and they refresh my feed but also say allow up to twenty four hours episodes to appear. This is a daily show. A why does this only happen on apple podcasts. They can't answer this but the following day both the episode that didn't appear and the new one show up apple had better start taking podcasting seriously. They can lose their once seemingly insurmountable lead.

New York City Will Require Vaccination for Indoor Activities

"We have a story today that it makes my blood boil. And if you guys know me and you watch my show or follow me on instagram. Many things make my blood boil but this one is definitely very dramatic and in my opinion because it is something that is taking away freedoms from americans but the horrible part for me is that there are so many americans who are totally fine with their freedoms being taken away and they do not care so. This news story is new york city or acquire vaccines for entry to restaurants. Gyms concerts things like that so they are now having a quote unquote vaccine passport for. Lots of different places you go to. Yeah and we talk about this a lot on our daily show but what happened with this whole lockdown and covert nineteen is that the government wanted to test how controllable and how easily it was to condition the american people. We prove that with the lockdown because we went over and we allow the government to lock us down to lockdown our economy to tell our kids. They couldn't go to school to tell us that we couldn't go to work. And now that that lockdown has been quote unquote lifted We're going to enter a new series of regulations and mandates where they test. How far can we really push this. How much americans really value freedom. How much do they value liberty. And i guess the answer right now is not very much because we have cities like new york city and now we have la who was thinking about doing the exact same placing limitations on our freedom and people are doing nothing about it. Let's look in new york city for example. Because they're the ones who are putting in this vaccine mandate you know their seven day average for cova. Dessus it is six people. People think that like. I did this video. I went out on the street. And i asked people how many people have died from cova. How many people have gotten sick from kobe. They're thinking all like hundreds of thousands in los angeles like hundred thousand people under the age of seventeen of died. I mean and it's like not even close to those kinds of numbers but again. It is the mainstream media tricking people into giving up their freedoms by telling them that it's for the greater good people. Don't trust anyone who says that something is for the greater good people who say that something is for the greater good. Are the people who you know. Have some sort of agenda okay as individuals. We should be looking to protect our individual liberties our individual rights our rights that are given to us by god that the founders

Just want me to give short Pity any questions. You want me to speed up. You're gonna talk fast or no. No no no please. Mr president i will not i will not purposely filibuster but sometimes i will have applause as i'm formulating my thoughts as you well know l. Michelle has been speeding up my auto my audio book. So you know. I guess you can press a button so it played by one point five one and a half where you are one and a half guy you one and a half was a little offended by that. But that's okay that's fine. It does doesn't communicate the depth of feeling with which. I'm doing the reading but it's okay. How do you like being referred to just as a human being. Do you like mr president. People call me barack but then sometimes some folks feel awkward. Doing it obviously my. That's what my friends call me. So i consider you a friend but you may feel so no no no the people the people will feel like like even africans will. They'll write me letters saying how dare you. This is my for to get you in trouble. So you can say mr president. It makes sense you can call me. Porous my favorite one was abysmal. That was my favorite. Please call me that

"Weekly shows. You'll often just there's a. There's a tried and true formula. You record you produce you. Release you record. You produce you release to do that with the daily show you know. Some people can do it. It may be a recipe for burnout. It's that's a lot to do every single day. So there are ways around that you can batch your tasks that is going to be the theme of this day is you can get all of you. Can you can do all of your writing. You can do all of your content planning and record multiple episodes in one. Go so one. One example of that is in the center here batch production. You have maybe two episodes of new content. You have one episode. That's just evergreen that you can run anytime you record all of those together. Do all the production at the same time and then you have three episodes and it's less time planning less time scheduling less time. You know getting out all the equipment. It's a little bit faster but of course not every show can do that. Some shows are more timely. Some shows are new shows so a solution to that might be kind of a blend you could do. The record produce release schedule for those really timely episodes that need to come out tomorrow but in addition to that so that you always have daily content. You could also have some evergreen stories that you you record all together and you have multiple episodes in one recording and production and session the for a science. Show what we'll do is a lot of our content is evergreen but will also cover things like you know the the venus missions that were just announced. You know we will. We can pop in and do a timely story in this process. It's it's very flexible but if you're not a science show like we. Are you know a news. Podcast could possibly run a primer on. How the electoral college works. During every election season or a comedy podcast could re run a segment where like a running joke head originally started so everybody can like here that that little bit of history. There's there's a lot you can do to have content for every day of the week and yet still have time to create the stuff. You really wanna create.

The People vs Britney Spears

"Zoe. Thank you so much for being here with us today. There is obviously so much to talk about. Yes great here. Yeah so we've covered brittany's testimony on our daily show rich and daily last week but we really wanted to talk to an expert about the case. Yeah we definitely need someone to break things down for us and our ritchie's okay. Happy to see what i can do. Yeah okay so we're going to just jump right in. So britney said a lot of shocking things in her testimony but for me. At least the biggest bombshell was that she was forced to have an iud inserted even though she wants to get married and have another kid and worse. It turns out that it's completely legal. Can you talk a little bit about how that's even possible. Yes sure When a person is under a conservative ship or guardianship the court has taken away that person's right to make their own decisions about their life and in many cases that includes decisions about reproductive freedom and so it appears that in this case as as in many conservatives ships and guardian ships the court has given the power to make decisions about brittany's reproductive choices to her conservators so there were definitely some other. Jaw droppers. one thing that was crazy to me is that britney said she felt like she was being sex trafficked because she had no control over her life in you know as we all know she'd been forced to work and had no input into how her money was spent she even talked about being forced to take lithium because she objected to something. Her managers requested. Now those seem like very extreme circumstances for someone to live under. What are some of the typical arrangements in conservative ships. Are these things normal. One of the things. That's really difficult about this. Area is that there's so little data and so little oversight so we don't really know what's normal and what's not but we have no idea what's happening because that's sort of built into conservative ships in one of the real problems with them. Is that the control over your life. Your body your choices. How you spend your money how you make your money is given to someone else. And there isn't much or any review of of how the conservatives making those choices or what choices the conservative is making for you and about you

"Is so great to be with all of you. This is incredible. This is absolutely amazing because it means we did it we lived. I'm alive thing. I didn't think i'd make it. I didn't even get cold. But i'm just not to survivor. That's the how anybody i know would describe me. I'll even tell you what a year before the pandemic right fully. Before the pay. I was walking in. New york is looking at the sky. Love my life looking up being happy. And i stepped off her. That's all that's happened so far. I stepped off the curb. And i stepped off. A bird is not a dead bird. Okay this bart was also walk around. Pay attention loved his life. We just collided with nature humanity at once and so i stepped all the bird. The bird and i freaked out and the bird. And i made the same noise that is not so by that survives global pandemic if you can match the pitch of a pigeon out of fear the no no one is checking for you in the max movie. You died in the first five seconds in that montage about what went wrong with the world as you at a bird like how it ends. This is insane. Global pandemic last year was crazy because it was the first thing that ever happened. That happened to everybody. That's while that even happened in the world wars and they're named after the world you know there were some coaches like this. Y'all seem to be working out over there slowly become a little. We don't need to be dusted up to mass. Some people thought it was the end of the world. Which is why. I'm pretty sure that in all that. Promoting A Team Member To Customer (You Know, Firing Them)

"You have to promote a team member to customer and yeah. I guess it's a really nice way of saying you're fired or you let go and it's never easy to do no matter how righteous it is or how needed necessary. It's not fun thing to do when you think about things like the the apprentice show or we all sat there and just just couldn't wait to see who was fired next and of course it was reality. Tv wasn't really realistic. By any means. I get all of that or how the movie up in the air with george. Clooney were his job. His company that he worked for was to help other companies downsize. Could you imagine just traveling around. I know again. It's a movie but those positions were real might still be real that they pay other people to go fire people in other companies. I can't even imagine being in a company like that were. They couldn't do that on their own front about it. Can you just imagine if that's what you did. Is you traveled around ending other people's careers. You could grow yours because really firing starts with the leader in the sense of the word from the hiring process the on boarding process coaching daily. Showing your team. How to win Do you even have a structure for people who aren't performing before you just cut them. Loose is it's easy in a sense for example on a sales team because you have really hard data that's immediate. They're either hitting a sales quota or not were. Maybe some other jobs are a little harder to quantify and say is this person really effective or not so. Do you have a structure in place that really encompasses what they need to be winning in order to say. Hey you're effective. You're you're making an impact in our company or not and when you don't do that if you don't really address it because you're you're worried about. Hey who's going to do all this work or a. There's such a great person and all that other kind of stuff did you create a quinton stay mindset with a lotta people

"Coronavirus pandemic is the thing that is both almost over and somehow worse than ever even as vaccines are making everybody safe. It is clear that covid nineteen is a lot like benefit in that. It has never really going to be over. Which is why. New breakthrough in testing for covid is getting a lot of buzz. Dutch researchers are training bees to detect covid nineteen infections in samples. And they say that it could cut the waiting time for test results from hours or days to down to just seconds beasts having unusually keen sense of smell and the bees indicate a positive test result by extending their tongues to get a reward in the form of sugar. Water takes about a month to train these bs. Researchers say that it could be used parts of the world where there is currently no cova testing

Late Night TV, Politics, and Donald Trump

"Behind the desk the story of late night is sponsored by noon. Donald trump was winning. He was winning all the counties that at he was winning the electoral college. I remember thinking. Wow it's real now. That moment for me was when the daily show with. Trevor noah started a lot. That was new started at that moment. An avalanche of politically charged humor came tumbling down late night television because no public figure since the start of late night in the nineteen fifties at ever ignited that combination of comedy inspiration and pure rage that donald trump did when he descended an escalator and ascended to the presidency. I'm bill carter and this is behind the desk. The story of late night in this edition. We're going to talk about. How late night got in a lather over. Donald trump and politics always attuned to whatever issues were dominating. The news with the president like this late night. Comedy found a new political gear full throttle and trump humor pretty much dan the late night landscape this morning. Donald trump asserted executive privilege over the mall. Report executive privilege of course is actually trumps favorite privilege right after a white male and mar-a-lago handicap bathroom was. You might expect. Trump has been tweeting a lot today. And you can tell. He's getting word because one of his post said they're finding biden votes all over the place in pennsylvania wisconsin and michigan so bad for our country. Do they're not finding votes. They're counting them briefly over the weekend. People started to notice that his hair is suddenly now white. it's completely white. "York. We have three got pigeons rats cockroaches So you need. need. Inspired and moved by all the natural beauty around me. But it was bittersweet to learn all the things Namibia had that America doesn't oh constitute his provision for the fundamental human rights, especially the rights for women. So your country has equal rights protections in the constitution now. No, we have that too. Okay. In america. The equal rights amendment was first proposed in nineteen twenty one to give equal rights to all regardless of gender seems like a no brainer. Right. Not exactly congress didn't even pass it until nineteen seventy two. And then it still needed to be ratified by thirty eight states. But it's been met with resistance at every turn to this day. It's still one state short of ratification one believe that we're still working on it. Namibia might be one of the youngest countries in the world. But they've had equal rights for women from the start, and they're strong, female leaders have already inspired a whole new generation of polycyclic students, but they are living it up like I did all six years of college. Instead, they're focusing on something bigger myrow modal was always the prime minister. And makes me hopeful that evidence happened heard can also happen happen with me compared to other nations. You guys are doing great. It is a good start. But we went young women empowerment, yes. In as a good thing. There's a forty percent representation in parliament. But we want more. It's not just a quality its reputation in key positions. Have you been here the whole time I have. But as we haven't been conversation about equality amongst when and so forth. I've sat at the latest. I don't you think you should slow down a little bit. It took America a hundred twenty eight years to get one congresswoman won the fest of the better, the faster the better. You really are in college stat for your party bed to relate with our and love this idea. Starting your own party in college. I started a ton of parties cake parties toga parties he'll pop in parties. Rachel palooza that one was for Rachel do you ever Rachel here? No, no. This is a political party. We need to make a change. But these inspiring young nerds weren't the only Namibians joining the conversation on gender apology, indaba Palani and brigid started the feminist podcast heard not seen after realizing that none of their favorite podcasts about women's issues focused on their part of the world, the whole point in feminism is trying to figure out what women need to of equal and fulfilling by so it's not going to be the same everywhere. It's just about being a bit more aware of different cultures and different realities, a constant thread through all these conversations. We have is really thinking about approaching it from an intersectional framework looking at how race plays a role looking at how cost plays role looking at how. Location. Plays a role. Right. So intersection -ality, man. Oh, you're just going to run in the bathroom real quick. Siri? Google intersection. -ality are we talking about? Oh, right. Intersection. -ality I believe the term was coined by legal scholar. Kimberly Crenshaw in an essay that is that anti discrimination law feminist theory and anti-racist politics failed because they each focus on you know, a single factor. You did Google visa some of the principles that we're trying to get through with our conversations like side of burning your bra because it's a symbol of patriarchy in Mike constraint that super great. But for some people like you only have the one broad needed senior saying that different people from different parts of the world have have different ways of expressing their fabulous. Yeah. It's good to know what people are actually experiencing. I would carry Dopp was words with me back to America along with the baby rhino, I disguised as an emotional support dog Namibia has so much to celebrate generations of women who fought for their space. And occupied the shit out of. They know that listening to others is just as important as making yourself hurt. Do you think you could be prime minister one day? Do you think you'd be president one day? Why do you have a prime minister and a president? Anyway point is you can be both not at the same time. So where did all with my hard work at us? And where am I going next watch Deadlight abroad on the comedy central app and watch the daily show, weeknights at eleven o'clock comedy central. This has been a comedy central podcast..

"Because I realized that that wasn't enough time to have an in-depth conversation with somebody, you know, five six minutes, what can you really get into? And so oftentimes what we do is. We'll put the highlights of the interview on TV, and we'll tell people look go watch the full thing online because I don't like the idea of bringing someone to the show, and then jumping straight into what feels like an ambush all it being a softball. Just because I only had the time say, hi, how are you? You don't. So. So I started recording the interviews long putting them online. So you can see the full context of everything that was said, I'm not trying to make you look bad. I'm not trying to make you look good. I'm making you wait you all. For twenty twenty though the plans are to try, and I think recalibrate the telling of the story that is America. You know, I think for a long time we've become inundated by Donald Trump, and he's really fantastic at at at sucking all of the life out of the new cycle. You know, he just he absorbs all of its, but it is an interesting time in America's history where America will have to decide who it is. And you know in the previous election, we saw people just didn't vote people would like it doesn't matter Trump and Hillary it's all the same. And you like is it. And so now, and so now America will have to decide and so what's going to be interesting for me for twenty twenty is this new narrative in this new discussion around the Democratic Party because for a long time. It's just been one story line. And that's Donald Trump Donald Trump is and then it would be whatever action follows. But now it's going to be like who are the Democrats? What do they stand for what are their plans? How do they cope with each other? Is it going to be a civil war amongst themselves where they destroy each other before they get there or will they find a cohesive way to come together. And then put up. You know, a legitimate. Defensible rather challenge against Donald Trump. And so that's going to be our journey on the daily show is figuring out how to inform you on. What's actually going on? Because that I won't lie. That's one of the biggest things that frustrates me in America. Like when I watch cable news, no offense to you in particular. You know, I like your show, Jake Llosa's great. But one thing that frustrates me on cable news, a lot of the time is that I don't know what's going on. I I came from a country where like we didn't have like panels. We don't have there's not a pinion. It's just the news is reported. That's that's it. And then when I got through America, it was very much like wait what? Well, I think you know. I think this is going to have I think that Democrats needed to do. Well, if you look at they need to do it's like, well, what is what are the facts, though, everyone has an opinion on what it should be. And so and genuine I joke, and I said for real because Jake is here, but I have appreciated like your interviews. I like to learn about what's happening. I want to know what the candidates plans are. I think that's what votes is should be doing. They should be informed. It shouldn't be about. How you eat a corn dog? It should be about how you're going to treat Americans who eat too many dogs with healthcare. And that's the important thing though, is the is the corn dog. Of course, the dog stays. I mean that I've accepted in America. I understand this. Yes. But I think that's that's really what I'll journey is going to be now is accurately giving you a journey and a story of what is going on, you know. So that if you watch the daily show, at least I would like you to be able to go to your to your voting station knowing what your candidate stands for against. That's the one thing. I would like to do is focus on on policy. You know, it's it's affected versus offended. That's that's that's the thing. We always say tweet the show..
