How're you doing tonight? I am very well and I'm glad you could spend a few minutes. Take take me back Joe. Borough was drafted April twenty third. How would you describe the demand for the Joe Borough Jersey since that night? Well to be honest with you. It started about a week before that we were taking pre orders for these and really didn't know what we were getting ourselves into. We ordered a couple of hundred thinking well. We older, too many of these. Are People really going to be buying into this? You know, and then you know we we. We were closed down for. For a couple of weeks we opened up last Tuesday morning and it was like Christmas morning. We had twenty boxes or burrow jerseys waiting for us, and by Wednesday, they were just about all gone bad. Oh, man, I think everybody's frame of reference is back to Curson Palmer D. do you have a rely recollection of anything like this when Carson was drafted? Not even close you know Carson with heisman. Trophy winner first round pick but he wasn't Jodhpur. Phenomenon either I don't really understand it fully, but the build up around Joe Burrell compared to Carson Palmer. Joe Borough Jersey there eighty, nine, ninety nine. There's three different Nike Jerseys if they make. This is the cheaper of the three and really nice. He's had a manufacturing issue. Because of covid nineteen, it had to shut down a lot of their capabilities where they make these jerseys so really there only able to do the cheaper one four now. They told us during the season. They should have more hopefully. Knock on wood. capabilities to make all the others. I just checked my twitter feed, and I have a question from listener. I think there will be that excitement again. So I think everybody in the city is open for that question related to the Regin Shogo Akiyama. If someone wants to show Jersey, does the back have shogo or does it have Akiyama? Well hockey on. Current, store, not. You can go the other way, too. That's beautiful I. Love the flexibility. Round pick of the reds back in nineteen, eighty managed for years in the reds, minor league system than the Yankees System whatever twenty one hundred games. He's in the International League Hall of fame. He went in at two thousand fourteen. He managed Your Cincinnati. Reds in two, thousand, three, two, thousand and five is always a pleasure to spend a few minutes with Dave. Miley how are you? My good friend. Good to hear your voice and me on. Argue well everybody good. Great what about you we're? We're hanging in. Their kids are going a little. Stir crazy, but we're good. I thought of you last night because you had sent a text in the middle of the show I had. I was talking with Rick Green last night, who made his Major League debut with the reds? In June of ninety nine, it was his only major league appearance. He pitched five and two thirds. Innings gave up three runs. He never got another shot in the major leagues. You Happen to be listening. You recommended the red sign him. You had him at Triple A.. You got to tell him he was coming up. What what do you remember about grade in that moment I'm tell you what he One of the best things about AAA managers you know televised debate leagues and he was. Granted access. We call the Minneapolis and also can. Be saw on Toledo Tigers, and then He was with the Milwaukee as his last year as a free agent and You know me and Buck always thought highly. Sudden reached out to To Jim Bodenham. News are indirectly time and they're recommended them. They signed him and did a job force and it was great that he got a chance to go. Especially, what Cincinnati boy as you said when you and you're probably so many stories over the years, but that moment when you're able to see the look on their face when you tell them, they are being called up. That's gotta be really cool. No doubt and I heard a little bit, and it gets to hold a conversation with him last night, but I. I do remember. when we told them on the road in Norfolk and evidently couldn't get a hold of his wife. Lady the BALLPARK and I. Looked at bucket. Grant Jackson Cohen. said. Well, thank you. She calling me for and then. You know I didn't want to tell her over the phone, but now she gave us. Rick. And it all worked out, but Yeah, that's definitely the best part of you know AAA stuff. You can talk to the guy that AAA manager You know having to release. Guys was the worst, but sending guys especially at first time like you. I remember Dan, balloons and guys like that of the world that they're going to the big leagues or something. To look on the face and. Coming through. You I earlier in the week. Ahead Eric Davis on the show. We were talking about the the decade the all decade team. The fans voted on. You you played with Eric all the way back in one thousand, nine, hundred one with you gene. You played within through the system, did did you? Could you see his his greatness unfolding as you were a teammate of his? Our I tell you what he? Probably wanted best athletes I have ever seen her plate with He. You know I don't know if they're told you. The originally signed shortstop and kind of like the Reggie Sanders story where. He made on how many areas and they moved in the Senate filled, and that was the year that that I the first year that I played in eighty one and. You know just the adjustment. He made out there I mean it just came so easy for them and You know like we talked to. It's probably been over the winter that last time I talked Eric but You know just he probably could have done anything. He wanted on high school. Basketball football didn't matter and Larry and was drafted him out of La and And you know that just tells you. How bad scouting back in the day. Before him! Side you mentioned Aaron. Boone and you had him with the reds, did you? Did you ever think that get the at the time? That guy could be a major league manager someday. What do you think of him? becoming a manager. Where you would, what is bloodline? You Know I. Never Given much thought that. That first of all aid money, getting that side of it and You know with the blood line with the. Grandfather Ray Boone and Bob and you know Brett playing, and all that kind of like the bell situation. Those guys! They were just around baseball so many times. Peres's guys like that. I thought Aaron did a terrific job. Obviously New York's not. That it's not the most easiest place to manage I'm sure but you know I think it helps them going into that espn side of it where you know the the communication and different things like that, but Aaron probably could have done anything. He wanted her baseball general manager, or whatever so very happy form talking little reds baseball with. The former reds manager member of the International League, Hall of Fame Whenever Twenty One hundred games in the minor leagues during his time. You also I forgot about this. I went back and it was looking this up. You had dion for about Twenty Game Stretch it Louisville in two thousand and one, and he was just odd, he'll almost four hundred for you and a twenty game stretch and got the call up. What was it like watching Dion? The baseball player right right He. You know we. We had a little past I guess it was around. I guess it was ninety three after after the Yankees and all that we were in Atlanta, and I got to talk to him for a long time, and hadn't seen him for a while and then Jim Jim signed him as a free agent and You Know He. He did twenty game stretch like he said he had most I. Remember about the is watching this guy go if it's not from first to third, but if ever watching them hit a triple, just amazing. But he I mean he had he had the tools and you know what he was able to do. On the football and baseball side of it and not miss a beat was. Just terrific, but he. Did you? Are you mentioned scouting and between nineteen, eighty, five and eighty six those Denver teams. You guys have Eric Davis Barry Larkin, Chris Sabo. Paulo Neo Rob Dibble. Some guy named Tracy Jones I duNno, whatever happened here, but. How about that collection of talented Denver in those years? Oh my gosh. Unbelievable they have you have just a physician players. At that time. and. That was one of 'em that I think we had five catches on that roster. At one time, it was alaniz nicely in and Keri McGrath and Joe Oliver Myself and getting anybody. Heck. Most time I got playing in catching I played who I believe. That's. The thing that you could be around. Just watch those guys that. They came in. You know like you said with Barry and. You know it was a lot of fun to watch and You know that was a that was a great summer. Those guys were very unique and it was great to watch him. Go on and help reg, do some. Great things and win the world series. What was it like as manager? The Cincinnati reds come to the ballpark every day and knowing you could write somebody like Sean Casey into the lineup. One of my favorites yeah. It was great. You know the toughest part. Probably. There was nothing about it I. Guess It was you know Bob who like I really had a lot of respect for is the one that that about doing was one that was fired when they brought me up as the interim at first, and we still had Aaron on the team, and just the way that Aaron handle it was you know it's something that I think about whenever you know when you brought up his name? That's the first thing he doesn't mind. It could have been you know could have been an awkward situation you know. We ended up trading them to the Yankees as a matter of fact and. I think that's the area that they. Run the beat the Red Sox gave a different. Governors. Out there you quick story whenever I would give him a day off? You know. He'd never shut up in the dugout and I'm like. I tell Jelly and and. You know mark various gadgets like this guy killing here. Anymore so in the National League on the double switches, so it'd be about the fifth or sixth anything like my kitchen change case gets you. Whatever and goes. Miles at that had the day off I. See man. Not Anymore okay. Out Danny Graves. That's That's beautiful. Hey, it is so great to hear voice I. I got such a big kick last night out of you text in the middle of the interview with. Rick, Green and It's it's good. We could hook up but I'm glad you're you're doing well and stay safe and opening. We can talk again soon all right. Pleasure you know, you can get a hold of me anytime. Buddy and hopefully we'll get through all this next time. Withdraw Cow, sit in the I'll be governed w and then sitting in the booth. Hey, that is a deal. Hey, thanks! They'd take care all right there. You Go Dave Miley. He's one of my favorites. Yeah, right in the middle of our interview last night with Rick Green. and Rick was talking about Dave and it was Dave who so I'm an recommended the red sign even and was pitching well at triple eight eight year in got the call and rick spoke glowingly of of Dave Dave sends me texts. Question Nineteen Eighty Five I love that movie Big Fan of Matthew Modine will ask him about the movie chance and get caught up on some headlines as well as We get up and running six nineteen. Thanks for being here. It's Arnelle carrier sportstalk presented by Kelsey Chevrolet seven hundred WWL W. Six, twenty seven seven hundred wwl wrol. Carriers sportstalk presented by Kelsey Chevrolet Lands, mcallister. Thanks for being here tonight. If you were here last night if you missed the rick, green, that's available in podcast form. Rick Green was a first round pick in the nineteen ninety-two drafted the Tigers taking sixteenth overall wound up in the red system, and in ninety nine was pitching well, and he got called up to the big leagues and he pitched. Pitched in one game in relief, five and two thirds innings three runs, and he was never heard from again. They rights had to send him back with the roster move. He never made it back to the big leagues and I asked him last night about making it to the big leagues pitching well in his one and only appearance, and then never getting another chance, the fact of getting to the to the big leagues far outweighed. Fact that I didn't have a long illustrious ten. Fully vested career. That's that's the bottom line Would I've liked to have ten years in the Big League? I would have liked to have a half a season in the big league, but when you look back at the fact that I'm only one of nineteen thousand, plus that have ever lived young boys, Dream, and played a sport like a game for my profession, and and made unbelievable friendships, and traveled the world to Cuba and Spain and Canada and just done a lot of. Of things that a lot of people have done I lived two or three life times already at forty nine years old, or even when I retired at thirty one that most people just don't get to do so talk about being extremely blessed and very very fortunate Lucky and proud and and just just a happy I was able to get there. Even for one game Rick Green last night on Sports Talk May, and now that was a that was good stuff last night. Easier Classic Cup of Coffee Story a guy who gets what opportunity then that's it but consider hundred and fifty plus years of baseball. Less than twenty thousand players have had a chance to play a major league game. He did it. He pitched well and the the perspective. Really really cool up next a tomorrow. Night is premier. Let's welcome in Eric. Cook Eric Lance McAlister. How are you? I'm doing great land. How're you doing tonight? I am very well and I'm glad you could spend a few minutes. Take take back, Joe. Borough was drafted. April twenty third. How would you describe the demand for the Joe Borough Jersey since that night? Well to be honest with you. It started about a week before that we were taking pre orders for season and really didn't know what we were getting ourselves into. We ordered a couple of hundred thinking well. We older, too many of these are people really going to be buying into this? You know, and then you know we. We were closed down for a couple of weeks. We opened up last Tuesday morning, and it was like Christmas morning we had twenty boxes or burrow jerseys, waiting for us and by Wednesday. They were just about all gone mad. Old Man I think everybody's frame of reference is back to Curson Palmer. Do you have a rely recollection of anything like this when Carson was drafted? Not even close, you know. Carson, was heisman trophy winner first round pick but he wasn't Jodhpur. Phenomenon I don't I. Don't really understand it fully, but the build up around Joe Borough. Compared to Carson Palmer. It's night and day. Thrill media is much much bigger so as you mentioned you are now. You're open right now. Is that correct? We are yes. We opened our doors. Turn the lights back on last Tuesday morning. We have all the safety measures in place, plexiglass masks, or required by anybody coming in, so we've been having walking customer guys last week. Yeah, do you? Do you have the borough jerseys in stock or do you have to order them at this point? We're still okay if you have if you're three XL. Or if you're a toddler or you side, we have those in stock. Still every other size. We ran out of like I said before, probably in a day or so we went through a couple of hundred, so we actually have more on order. They are telling us at Nike that we should expect him hopefully by the middle of June. Give me an idea of what say for an adult size something that I would wear. What is the cost of? Of Joe. Borough Jersey there eighty, nine, ninety nine. There's three different Nike Jersey that they make this is the cheaper of the three and really. Nike's had a manufacturing issue because of covid nineteen. They've had to shut down a lot of their facilities where they make these jerseys so really. They're only able to do the cheaper one four now. They told us during the season. They should have more hopefully. Knock on wood. capabilities to make all the others. I just checked my twitter feed and I have a question from listener. Only one of my listeners can have this question I will toss it to you. You see Chris wants to know. He has a Curson Palmer Jersey. Can he bring it in? Have you strip the Palmer off in so borough in yesterday? I had a feeling that might come up. Yeah, yes, we have done that before. We can certainly do that just happened. Get in touch with us. you know the great things about the Bengals? They love recycling numbers. You know it's not just. You from Rudy Dot in the center dent then Jeremy, Hill. That might be more of a cost effective way of doing the the Borough Jersey even buying new. Absolutely talking about Joe Borough Jersey. Mania, that has unfolding were at the epicenter of all of it with Eric Cook from Cook Sporting goods on Fourth Street downtown. Let me. Let me switch over to the reds. For a second. They had built up so much momentum in the offseason with so many signings did that translate into reds? Fans wanting reds jerseys this off season. You know I have a feeling it would. That's one of the negative things, and of course we have to keep everything perspective with everything going on in the world, but we were really looking forward to a bigger red season than we've had in a lot of years, and because we were shut down for a couple of months, we haven't seen it. you know which is a shame, but again I think whenever they do. Start to play ball again. I think there will be that excitement again so I think everybody in the city is open for that question related to the reds Shogo Akiyama. If someone wants a Shogo Jersey, does the back have shogo or does it have? Well I hope it has ocoee. The. Not. You can go the other way, too. That's beautiful. I love the flexibility. I've also always struck by this and I saw what I went to your website again today. You guys have been around this true. You guys have been around since eighteen eighty eight. That is correct, actually myself. My Cousin Ryan. Cutting Kathy word of generation, we're working there now, so we've been around for a while, not always telling sporting goods, but but you know we started with theater curtains and things like that and how we've evolved a bit over a year. You name it that those players there there's like a curse that those players then moved on for whatever reason to another team he had. Carson Palmer and then Carson was gone. Had Sean Casey Never Forget the day I had to tell. Casey that Sean Casey was traded to the pirates, left-handed pitcher David Williams that went that Jersey. We had a Jeff Clevinger Jersey and then he was gone. We got a T J JERSEY. Then he was gone. He's a big Miami Heat Fan. Hey Chris Bosh. He got Chris Bosh and then Chris Bosh developed the blood disorder and was done. Playing basketball had an Adam Dunn Jersey. He Got Traded Brandon Phillips Jersey he got traded. He had Lebron Lebron left in free agency from the cavaliers. He had a Kevin. Durant Kevin Durant la left. Okay see he had dwayne. Wade who left the heat and then came back the only one he joked he has had over the years that the player has remained. Is His guy ally manning. His favorite quarterback! I was reading who was it was Rick Reilly. Googling stuff on on Jersey sales today and I found Rick Reilly, pc written want to say about a decade ago on the rules of Jerseys and he had written wearing. Jersey used to be for kids now. People with actual jobs are wearing them. The wrote at six. It's adorable at thirty six deplorable women and jerseys fine, but dude you're really going to. You're going out with another man's name on your back to you have no male pride. I've got a couple of jerseys I've got I've gone to royal. Jersey going to king. Griffey Junior Mariners Jersey have an old Sammy Sosa Cubs Jersey I have my baseball. Heaven Jersey with my name on the back like wearing that out. But, he listed his Jersey rules one. He says you may not wear Jersey past the age of twenty nine. Well that seems rather harsh He says the exceptions a you're immediately related to the person whose name is on the back or be. You are the person whose name is on the back Jersey rule number two. You may not wear a Jersey without a shirt underneath it especially. NBA Jerseys. Number Four. You may not under any circumstances where a Jersey and a hat. I'm trying to think of I've done that I probably have a Jersey remember five. You may not wear a Jersey with your name on it if you didn't wear it on a real team wants. If. I weren't on my the Power Jacks Jack Billingham's team that was. Real as a team as it gets for me. I think that means I would pass the rule. Be Able to do. It rolled over sixty said you made our a Jersey of player who's been gone from your team for more than a year unless that player is a hall of Famer, I do get a kick out of. It's like a sport for me on Sundays at Paul. Brown Stadium Ke keeping track of the the odd bengals juries like the Ron Dougans. or or the Eric Cruiser or like? Wow, you really went with the RAW DOUGANS! Jersey in you still got it a Jersey rule number seven. If you have a nose, tackle body, you must wear a nose tackles jersey. Jersey number eight absolutely no cutesy wrong colored jerseys, no pink, no camouflage. Number nine? No wearing NBA shorts with your NBA Jersey at anytime. Ten No wearing your Jersey anywhere but a to the stadium or be at home. Well I violated that. If you qualify under all edicts. Then you must sign these waivers before donning. Jersey Jersey Waiver, a by wearing a jersey. You are waiving your rights to any sexual activity for the evening. No woman in history has ever said ooh. That guy wearing the Jersey of another man. That's hot. Jersey, waiver be by wearing a jersey. You are waiving any semblance of coolest well I disputed that I I have. The last time I wore one. What no more one on what would have been opening day around here? We're the Bronson Arroyo Jersey because remember we were. We were attending opening day, and there was an opening day, but we were acting. It was to have all the cool memories, and and I that was double violation because we're the bronze Row Jersey reds at that day. That from Rick Reilly was man. That's almost you know what there's should probably be a new one because I think he wrote that about. A about a decade or so ago. I would think the the growth of Jersey sales from almost a decade ago have been off the charts I mentioned earlier. We'll get into this. Maybe a little bit later on there is no. There was a proposal today. Actually there was a response today from the players to the owners. Nothing beyond that, but I would agree with Bob Nightingale in USA Today today who who wrote this paragraph about owners and players right now in major league baseball. He wrote simply stopping. Enough already he wrote. There are thirty six million Americans who filed for unemployment the past two months. Do you think they really care who is right or who is wrong? As owners and players debate, the economics of playing baseball without fans, the last thing anyone can stomach is listening to billionaires and millionaires. Arguing over money. There was a report today. I think it was John. Hayman of CBS sports that on the players side of this there was there was great angst that. Information was getting out. That was the information that the owners wanted out that was making. The players look bad. In a perfect world, both sides we go behind closed doors and keep quiet and we wouldn't have to hear any of this of how the sausage is made. It doesn't work that way because it's all about negotiations. Unfortunately, it's all about leverage and each side ultimately is looking for leverage, and how this is presented publicly all right, hang tight. Cincinnati has been way too long and I'm very excited to welcome in from the inquire. CINCINNATI DOT COM. He is all over all things FC Cincinnati. That would be Pat Brennan. How are you? Land some great. Your introduction is entirely too kind. It has been too long what it is great. It is great especially in these times. Cowboys Fan in my correct. I I am I correct in the pronunciation Yup stom- Yup. Right got it. Now to me that you're the you're the expert so I defer to you, but this isn't some just ordinary. Joe Hiring. This is a significant big time. Hiring is not. Yeah because one lance that would have turned heads across the globe today, and maybe tomorrow is the news cycle Kinda circulates eastern part of the world, but This is a guy that was a starter on arguably. The Best Club soccer team and Manchester United during their ninety eight ninety nine season one of the best clubs soccer teams in the modern era and he wasn't just. There for the ride he was a key player. He was a starter and he's playing career alone. makes him someone that is globally note worthy I think in in the global soccer community and he's had some. This is his first coaching job I think it's fair to say he's had mixed success, but he's had mixed success. In some of the toughest most competitive leagues in the world did pretty well for himself in the second division in England, which some people argue including myself is Skillful League in the world, but the one of one of the toughest, if not the top leagues in the world because you're fighting to get into that English premier down so. He did really well one season when he was managing a club called reading see. In that second division England so Yeah, this is he was. He was considered one of the one of the best defender in the game in his era, which is not that long ago? So this is a modern player. As you said, he's only forty seven years old and Yeah, this one would have turned heads all over the globe today a pet the. The the other thing that jumps out to me. There are some guys with the big name who'll just ride on their big name to me. I look at the resume and I. See Player I see. He spent some time as a scout. He was an assistant. He's been the top guy that's. That's a well rounded resume that to me jumps out. Is that fair? Yeah one hundred percent I mean Lance. I'm sure you've seen this in the news release, but. He had a coaching stint for a an academy team at albeit a academy, one of the biggest soccer clubs in the world, so I'm sure that team quite prominent in its you know age division, and for its among its peers, but he was a youth coach, and he and he doubts that as something. He's proud of his professional development. So yeah, this is this is a guy who did not just. Kind of appear at the top levels of the game because of his big name from his playing days. He really I think put his put his nose to the grindstone and works his way up and to be named obviously to be named head Coaches Cincinnati he would have earned that, but he's. He's. I think it's definitely fair to say he. He is He's earned everything. He's gotten in the in the coaching. Aspect of his career, and that includes his job today and I also think it's important to note he hasn't. He hasn't used his name kind of in the same vein Lance. He hasn't used his name to try to get into like one of these huge huge global giant soccer clubs. They've all been like you know reading. At C that's not exactly a household name. in these in this part of the world and you know even the the quote unquote big club. He coached in the Netherlands. That was a great accomplishment in that country, but these aren't necessarily global brand, so I think he takes on attainable job and He's good at them, so they're to me. That's suggests the also knows. Maybe maybe he knows his limitations as well and knows what he's capable of succeeding at which is you know that might sound? Simplistic but some people don't have that self awareness in the game. That brandon checking in from the choir since dot com talking about FC Cincinnati, they announced at the club's new head coach today. He'll be official introduced to the media tomorrow we'll. We'll see him on zoom tomorrow win. Here's the big question. When might he actually be here in able to get hands on with his new club? Really good question, my answer to you is I. Don't have a firm answer on that yet, but when you look at. The situation with the pandemic and some of the government rules and regulations closed borders. that. He's going to be facing. I mean let me let me I mean that's all part of this right now. And that for some people suggest today that, because maybe they announced the higher now because they've found a window or some way to get him into the country, so they can start the immigration process if that's true great i. don't I have to think probably not the case just because hot. How serious depend damage is being treated and most of the world's Nancy so. I think that You know. Challenge? I can tell I could tell him her answer yes. Looks. Just. Put It in perspective, you know. There were three players, three new players that FC Cincinnati acquired in the off season, and who they are exactly. It doesn't really matter and people. Will Your Cardio One Adrian right gets in FC Cincinnati. Was All not just see Cincinnati curbs route about less or having Longer than usual they were dealing with longer than usual processing times and timelines the immigration process just because. You know this isn't a political comment about I think it's was largely seen just because of the regime. That's Running our country right now, and that is what it is but that was so `immigration was already a longer process of these clubs accustomed to, and that was before the pants. Okay, so now you have to paint. Borders closed not just here in the places where you know in the in the part of the world where you off is coming from, too, so if it like, if if like people theorized today. If there's a window a way to get him in now to start the process awesome. where? That's possible at this time, so it could be a while, and it could be a situation, you know it's Kinda. Doubly concerning because it seems like mls has thrown all its eggs into this Orlando plan. Some people have talked about relocating all the teams to Orlando to resume practice like real practice, and maybe some form of competitive games, and if that planning gets off the ground land, it could start as early as June though we're talking less than two weeks out from that, so it's hard to imagine yourself being able to work. In the full managerial capacity, even in the best of circumstances, just considering the time line, he might be up against, so it could be a while but I think FC Cincinnati just like they said when they set out on this head coaching search, you know this is not about a short term, fix? This is a look. This is about a plan. Plan for their future so I think they have an eye to twenty twenty, one as much and maybe more as they do. Have as they have an IDA twenty twenty here now Pat Brennan checking in from the Acquire Cincinnati. Dot Com speaking of plans for the future any sense of what the future now might hold for current interim coach Yawn demet. You're you're bringing the heat tonight. Really good. Question I asked You I asked her about that last week. At the time, it had been approached with the assistance in the club I would assume so some progress towards some end has been made in the week since that interview took place with your camper general manager But it's a it's a really interesting situation now. Because Johan has been a team player club, first mentality put Cincinnati. Number one on the priority list in seemingly every situation he's been confronted with. Guided the team through a really ugly periods. That really wasn't. Any he really can't take too much blame for what happened on the field last year, and yet he he chose to preside over their head coach and. took some bumps and scrapes. That came with that so. That he really values this guy. You talk about prospects you know on the playing side, but this was a prospect for the coaching side and someone they want to develop. You know. As time has passed and she's been. Essentially you know there's really. Blunt way to say he's been looked. He's been passed over for the place now. In the meantime he's built up a heck of a little resume for himself so I. Don't know that he wouldn't have elsewhere my guesses. His inclination would be to want to stay around with FC Cincinnati but I think you had some saying that, too. Because just like in baseball just like in football in soccer you want to. It's not a it's. It doesn't mean you don't want isn't trustworthy. Yours a guy he just yup might want him to leave. Just because doesn't own, and it's as simple as that and he wants to bring in his guys. He's already bringing in one existent Any off just might want to have his speech around it by guys, and that's that's. That's a fair new head coach in any country. In the world so to determine about Yawns Ama. I think Cincinnati thrilled to find a way to keep him around. I think he would want to be around, but Yeah. This is a little bit different than when Ron hired and. Yuan was touted as maybe the next generation of head coach Cincinnati because who rod really quickly. Next generation is here with Yop. And I think the distant future, maybe even quite as clear for yawns as it was yesterday great catching up with you one more for you got about a minute, so do a Do a reset for us if you consider it. I know we were a couple of games into this thing when things were shut down, but from a roster standpoint, the additions locadia and others now GM in place coach in place is your sense that this club is on a solid path with a map that is taking them in the right direction. Yeah absolutely. I think they've got a lot of the. They've got more of the right players. they definitely have the general manager in place, and he's able to use his direct networks. Put some other things in place. In terms of players, now toys with the head coach, and hopefully this one goes better than last time, but there's a clear a clear plan I thought. Cincinnati already looked at light years ahead of where they were in terms of the play in the first two games. The club was. And when it was but I, think I think without question and this is the trade. Move in the right direction lance. A It is so cool to talk. Talk FC Cincinnati with the appreciate your making the time good to hear your voice, stay safe and hoping talk again soon. Absolutely thanks so much land. Talk to you again. You got it as you hear that and you think back, Gimme the Gimme, the emotions of just a spectacular run. What what stands out about that team in that run to you? You, know the things that jumped out. In that playoffs they had come from behind wins and four times with most goals. You know your your second point that I had there was. they played hard when it mattered the most you know the. You know with Cashman. Who played most of the year in the American League now? He's the assistant coach with the Washington capitals. Jason Joseph He's been eliminated by the cyclones when he was in Toledo not always in seven, and then in Vegas. No wait. I guess if you can't beat him. You better join them. With two goalies. That that that was a good man. Oh, man John, Hamill, checking in the outstanding play-by-play Voice of the cyclones ten years ago tonight, when they hoist the Kelly Cup and win the Cup for the second time in three years. We're GONNA be joined coming up in our next segment by Chuck Weber, the coach of that team John You sent me a a lot of notes leading up to this which I cannot thank you enough for and one that jumped out to me a Michael Jordan aspect of this. Tell that story if you could. Absolutely Obviously, he was the owner of the Charlotte basketball team. And when we showed up to the arena for game six, it was morning skate that day, and we were coming into the building at exactly the same moment. Michael Jordan was and. It's because we're coming in MJ. You know you know good luck, you guys. You hear playing very quickly. Guys win tonight what we go out and and didn't do so well. We lost three nothing, so my job at seven was to make sure he was nowhere. That's beautiful. Lover Steve Kerr when we need exactly exactly I mentioned. We're going to talk with a truck in the next segment, but let me ask you working with Chuck pre-game interviews around him all the time practice bus. What was Chuck Weber like? Tell me about the impact. He had on that team. 'cause man he. He had a magic time. He won one hundred and seventy seven games in four years here in forty five playoff games when he was here. He was spectacular the biggest. Capita can give chop. He was he was terrific with managing the people. He's one of the festive value raiders of talent that I've ever been around any sports and when when it comes, I worked with sparky with both Becker with huggins and John. Harbaugh I put him in that echelon. Both both for being on. The floor as well as being behind the scenes I mean just spectacular. I can't say enough. Good things I think the thing that media jumps out the most. You gotta remember. We had checks here for four seasons was really closer to five because in an E C H L season, their seventy two games in four years. He coached seventy one play. Man, unbelievable before. Let your catch everybody up. Kick Cyclone. Fans up! What are you up to these days? What what keeps you busy? Well I'll tell you what I bought. My White Tear with about a thousand stories from that. Kids in school also they. They fix a bunch of my time and I'm I'm certainly glad to be involved with that and you know. If. It's been a good run for me all the way around. I had eight great years with the cyclones. I can't think those people enough for everything they did to me. John this was a blast. I can't tell you how much it means you sent me an email. A couple of weeks ago, gave me a heads up, but I circled it on the calendar. I love on this data sports things related to this town. Our next guest guided the Cincinnati cyclones to Kelly cups in his four seasons, one, hundred, seventy, seven regular season, wins forty five playoff wins. It is a pleasure to welcome and former head coach of the Cincinnati cyclones. Chuck Weber coach. Lance McAlister. How are you doing great? Great to hear voice. It is great. Oh, everything is fantastic. I'm so excited to talk with you. When I found out that John said you were going to be able to join me. I wonder as you think back ten years ago tonight, the the sense of pride and accomplishment, and how magical that run was just just an amazing run wasn't. Was Yeah especially with us being the fifth seed in the playoffs, so it wasn't like the year in a await were basically the the leader right out of the gate to the finish line and you know. We went through so much adversity I think we went through almost forty five players during the regular season and with everything else going on, and you know we again. We were cheesy. One every what I probably hammered, so we want every even game the first two rows. Put put ourselves down three nothing against writing and and then came back, and then quick turnaround flute up Boise, Idaho. Wouldn't that would four games to one that was that was the easiest of all the series. Swell! Take take me back to the conference finals, and you delivered a speech. The just win a period speech. Tell me about that, yeah! I don't really think it was so much the speeches. The guys were a good spot, and it was it was. We had nothing to lose We were down three. You know we were in every game didn't get a bounce hereabouts there. It was kind of a weird. Because reading was actually the fifth see, but reading I. Think was the six or seven They had upset a couple of higher seats as well and We went down and you know I think just the you know. Our energy levels the first Toronto to catch up with us a little bit. Cinco de Mayo happens and. Most people at her. The urban legend is true. Our boys when I got drunk. And we had we had three days off or three forties off. Actually you could. Bon Jovi was using writings arenas Hassan check. System so we played three games, and then we've had I was like four days off so Cinco de Maya. The boys were like Hey. One glass of Danner have a couple of drinks I'm like that's fine. And they came in the next day reeking of like Ben Gay and big red trying to hide it. And everything else. Fortunately our guys out there, guys. and. We started chipping away. Yeah, we I just I said. Hey, you know a couple of people that are you get mad? You know they're drinking. It's the conference finals and guys were down three in, and you know a big speech or getting angry, trying to pull events Lombardi or something like that. It's not gonNA work and. Guys you know and we need to win a period know we're not going to win four games in the first minute of game for a period I think. Cam told me I. Think the remaining twelve periods. We were ten to kind of saying that we just started chipping away. We had a couple of tough lineup. Decisions some guy. It just wasn't working for you. Especially one of our guys, so I sat him, and that was kind of I. Think the guys in the locker room, or she's one of our leading scores and guys like Oh. Wow, chuck's really well. Sit early scores to try to win this and get whatever it takes, and he actually sat all four games that we came back. Played All five games in the finals, and I think their second or third leading scored in the whole playoffs, ready missiles sports, those are the four games, and we had a couple of hard talks and early on, and it just wasn't working I was like. Hey, you're not going tonight game four. He's just looked at me and I was like yeah, and then game five. He okay like no. You're not going tonight either. then. He realized he wasn't playing the rest of the series and he came after Game Seventies. Like Hey, I understand. And you know I'm you're if you got? If you need me and game when I'm like you're playing a game? Wow, well, you know. And they were all went from there shook. What did it mean you? You win it on home ice in front of thirteen, thousand, four, hundred, eighty three. What did it mean to do it there in and your sense of what it meant to the fans that night? It was unbelievable, especially going through it just two years earlier, you know in two thousand, eight, seeing the crowds, and you know the and stuff that we had for that for that Round Against Vegas To have that huge crowd come in and one of the things. We had some great crowds during the regular season. You know, ray ray hair are owner and Kristen and the whole front office had done a great job. You know and and John had done great with promoting the teams through his. You know with with him with his job and. It was just one of those. They just kept pouring in people pouring in and pouring in and especially when we went up to what late when Brett Robinson took the shot in, and everyone starts chanting. We want the cup, and then it started going. We want the cup again. You, you been in many different cities over the years. Is it fair to say that the city of Cincinnati holds a very special place in your heart it does you know my first head coaching job A lot of hockey over those four years. You know I take a lot of pride. In the standpoint, we went from my first year in two thousand six, never player. New Franchise. We were just starting up again. you know we had the brand name, but we have the team yet. You know so you know. When when ray brought the end. We feel that first year we lost in the division finals. Then we win it. We're losing the conference finals, and then we win it again. and then Jeez know three of the next four coaches fall played for me, skull the. For Orlando, Matt McDonald won a championship with me in A. Great Hanau with Mattie Thomas Coach against. Mattie for decades and you know so just the standpoint that the team has been so successful now. You know that's fourteen fifteen year stretch. I think they've only made me miss the playoffs one year. Or two years, and you know to win a cup I you know I think if you're GONNA look down. The history of Cincinnati pro sport is probably one of the most successful runs here over a decade and a half in Cincinnati history check I got about a minute. Listeners what are you up to these days? Where are you these days? I Am Coaching College Hockey Now I'm at Rensselaer. Polytechnic Institute, so for the hockey fans. How about that? That's pretty impressive. I, know we put at least separated. It was an unbelievable run. I think. We had a couple of ten win streaks in there and just. Made it so fun. You know that was my first year, so not knowing what to expect. Or how did this team really was? There seemed to be a lot of pressure on that year because they had one in seventy, and they didn't win and seventy two seventy, three got beat the division. With the mets and now. Everybody was starting to say I. It's the big red machine, but they haven't won it yet. So you know that started just relaxing, everybody and just incredible run from there on out and Doug, not only a special moment, because it was your first major. League home, but your family was there that not right. You, know they. They came up. Be Miles south so they would come up to quite a few games and. At the right time Doug I also I listened to that I found that game on Youtube today I listen to it and you were the star of the game, so I was. It was funny because you you. You sounded so young and so nervous talking with Nuxie in the post game. What a moment! That must've been well. You know those guys I've watched one of the kid growing. Into, the game, and then all of a sudden. You're the guy sitting in the dugout with Joe Nuxhall. I mean. If you listen to the broadcast the home run, he was more excited. I think than anybody. Yes, yes, and then s you get to know Joe you realize. Wow, that's how special guy he was not only was a great player and admired by so many people but I. Don't know of anybody that has a better name throughout Cincinnati history than Joe Nutso. To think about it, you're you're twenty four at the time you're from Washington. You're playing on a team that becomes the big red machine. What what a moment in your life. Nobody has built that bad. What. So much. So much fun with and but you know the great thing about it is anywhere you go and people say you're part of the big red machine without even thinking they can the starting lineup and I. There's not a whole lot of ball clubs that have people that remember the starting lineup. Except for the ones you know when their local fans but shoot, everybody can tell you who was on that team. They were like Rockstar it just so fun to be around. Catch everybody up before I. Let you run and manage great catching up with you. What are what are you up to these days? What keeps you busy well? He homered off Tom Hall and he was exactly right because I, listening to the broadcast I heard the moment that count went to three, and why he had tried to bunt earlier in the at Bat, and eventually took off the side of the fact. He tells the story was it was Johnny. Who told Sparky let the kid hit? And he did and homer the the first of his major league career, he would go on to hit six more in his major league career total of seven home runs. That was really cool. We'll take our final time out head down the stretch. Try to squeeze in a couple of more notes on this date in reds, history, darnall carrier sports talk presented by Kelsey Chevrolet Seven Hundred W. and. The music sets us on our way on this date in reds history to wrap things up. We go back to nineteen forty six. The reds are nearly stranded due to a nationwide rail strike coming back from Boston to Cincinnati they. Reach Buffalo before the midnight strike. They had to travel to Cleveland. The players did in taxi cabs. Then stay over and bust home to Cincinnati that courtesy of red leg journal, which is my source for most of this that I loved that book one thousand nine hundred. Eighty two the defending national champion dodgers ripped the reds for fifteen runs in the first inning. You'll blackwell's started for the reds. The reds used four pitchers in the first inning. Dodger's went on to win nineteen to one at ebbets field, nineteen consecutive batters reached in the first inning. Joe nuxhall pitched the final three innings, allowing no runs that was his second major league appearance eight years after his first appearance at the age of fifteen. And come to think of it, he debuted in eighteen nothing game. His second appearance was in nineteen one game this they nineteen, sixty three Jim, Maloney ties a team record for strikeouts nine innings with sixteen. He pitched a two hitter eight and a third innings beat the braves to nothing at county stadium. He struck out eight in a row. At one point, he won twenty three games that year, striking out two hundred and sixty five in two hundred and fifty days this date, one, thousand, nine, hundred, seventy, five, as we mentioned with Doug Flynn. The reds trailed Tom, sieber three nothing at Riverfront. They rallied to win four or eleven to four. They were twenty and twenty entering the game. They would proceed to win forty one of their next fifty, and the big red machine was on its way this date nineteen ninety reds over the cubs, four three at Wrigley Jose Real Beats Greg Maddux. A A message a DM on twitter, trying to get him on tonight. It was also on this date, two thousand and twelve in that game that Kaleb Lloyd. A local guy caught two of those home runs. He caught leaks home, run ball, and then Coz art very next batter he. He homered into the left center field, bleachers and Caleb Lloyd caught both of them. Actually the first one he barehanded, it bounced out of his hand. It stung in pretty good, but he picked it up, and then the very next batter Coz art hit one that bounced into his lap. He didn't keep either ball. He gave the League home. Run back to the reds to give to leak and the second home run. He gave to a friend who went to the game with who had given him the ticket for the game. Caleb Lloyd. Who THEY AKA Z Higgins? We're fresh off the NFL. Twenty Twenty drab. I have my co host with me as Boogie. But before he says anything. I just want you guys to take this second to check this out. My man was going so hard on draft night. He went so hard on the day after I was sitting in all of his eyes. And everything like that. If you guys got some time just going you to check out new stripe city Check out everything that he did because his draft covers on. It was amazing and he was going three hours straight each day without further. Ado The may the myth my co host Ace bookie thank you. Thank you appreciate that man and definitely had represented a die hard. I know that we were all glue to draft especially being what what took place which were pretty much about to break down but it was just an amazing time. Man Got to really get with a lot of people and we also supported bengals fan as well and also made a donation the cove in nineteen funds so we were able to also raise one hundred dollars for that might seem like a little bit amount of money. Every little bit helps any any dollar amount. That's a dollar more than with somebody else is a million people that ain't donate one dollar so right for that Just starting out. I mean I wanna I wanNA give you the Florida. Just give your overall thoughts out. I just came off of last night. I was watching the Jordan last. Dance right and this episode three and four and the similarities. I started getting inspired. I started looking up so much stuff. If any of you guys washed Jordan Thirty for thirty so far. It's been amazing but dissimilarities on how one may could change your franchise. Snowball are just like super super canning in his like unmatched like how the parallels for this thing are just like off the charts and are really falling in love with this thing and I got this tweet out. That says twenty twenty. The bengals will learn the triangle offense but in twenty twenty one twenty two is when they actually like let loose on. And if you watch the series you'll see how the bulls like. It took them a year so to to get into this triangle office. And I'm calling the office because now Just going off the recap of the of the draft we. We added some pieces in along the way the biggest piece was Joe Borough so with that. Just give me your initial thoughts like how do you feel about this leg going into this draft right now like I mean coming out of the draft right now going into this first. Ota going into this first all season. Like what are your expectations? How do you feel about the job? Borough pick like now that it's happening. Oh math feel great about it. I think it just was in some incidences not necessarily relief but it seemed like something that we were waiting for and finally took place in to just see the aggressiveness of the Bengals. After that right because that was pretty much a layup pick like everyone knew if you had the first overall pick you had to go with Joe Borough right and excitement is there because it brings to you a sense of the Super Bowl. Win Window opening right. We haven't had that in a while like when we had Andy Dalton as the quarterback there were some instances where I felt like man after twenty fifteen. I don't know when we're going to actually even get close to being a super bowl contender. But Joe Borough as soon as that was announced is like okay. Timer is on. When are we going to be going to the Super Bowl because that is the type of caliber prospect? Joe Borough is what is expected to happen when you have a quarterback taken like that then obviously after that we had to see how Zach really bounced back in his follow up draft to last year. Last year was almost kind of like a preseason draft him being that we had to wait until after the Super Bowl to hire him. He was behind the eight ball. He didn't really know much about the players outside of things that he discussed in interviews with the Brown family but he was finally able to digest a full season of this roster and make adjustments as he saw fit. There was one aspect which I'm sure touch on that I was not Completely satisfied with other draft but outside of that it was really great draft from me in terms of where he hit an people that he went after. What about shoes? Now I'm sorry I'm one hundred one hundred percent or more with you. Know like a lot of people as we go into this episode. And I'M GONNA try not to be long winded as possible but coming into the draft already. Knew jober like you're talking to a guy. I have a job borough Jersey right now. I've been screaming Joe Borough since November December. It was already a foregone conclusion so when you hear me talk about the draft honestly I look at the draft from the second round on and now did not take anything away from Joe. Borough like you just said is the alleyoop Slam Dunk. Easy like I did a live thing. My wife is in the background. She looks a little nervous and I will. I should've pan the camera with her. Because it's almost like these bogus stories kind of. Maybe because she came home when they was like. Hey they're senate in my Niger. Them like man is happening. Already believed this. I've created borough baby shirts already before this thing even happen so my mind is a little bit further ahead in that regard but I I live with that because I didn't want to take away from the greatness that pig is and what it represents for the organization I would be lying if I if I had if I said I didn't see it coming. I just always thought it was GONNA be there. What'S UP NOVA? What's up cutesy whistle? Zippy do day. We're going to try to get to some questions to man I thank you for Common Oi Curtis thank you all for coming shown as love every single time but overall draft was the excellent drive in. I feel like this is one of the best drafts that will have in a while. And it's hard to say that now 'cause they're all prospects the over the one thing that I do WanNa talk about before we get into draft out that ultimately drops Migrate Down. One that a great antidote like. That's the one that's the elephant in the room for me like The way that are processed information sometimes a lot of people say. Why don't you give it a a a plus because I my job is not to be? Some superfan adjusts rows everything. The bengals do my job is to keep it a hundred with you and keep it all the way like you know like what is supposed to be. They did not handle the antidote and situation correctly on both ends. It's not fair. What they've done any is not fair that they weren't able to give the fans what they need. Because I WANNA I WANNA show. Ya screen shot of the four round and if you're talking about what Eddie Don should've got or what. He was rumored to have been a offer from the bears or whatever like some meat. A bear's made a big mistake. Taking in the Bengals made a big mistake by not making that deal happen because of the talent that was there in a four round would make this draft like that that that could literally be the difference between a win this upcoming season in in the fact that they haven't moved them is a big big problem for me in. Just no I'm looking at the draft from that standpoint To and it's not just the place that we drafted. It's the one extra. That wasn't drafted. Do you have any thoughts on antidote thing? Do you feel like they like What's a realistic scenario? That you thought could happen from dollar well me personally. I didn't expect Dalton to get moved during the draft because I think that based on what we've been hearing I understand I understand. I definitely understand that for sure But I think that I I thought I think when they when they didn't make the move for trading him to Chicago right earlier on this season when they ended up. Chicago ENDED UP TRADING FOR NICK FOLES. I think when they decided to keep him they felt like at this point in my mind it was like okay the most value. You're going to actually be able to get for him. Via Trade is if someone goes down in training camp and I was like I hate for it to be that kind of situation or something like that but I feel like. That's what they're thinking is right now. Is Somebody likely isn't gonNA probably offer her anything for him during the draft. Because they got all of these quarterbacks out there jalen hurts in. All of these guys are still getting a roster together but I thought like they're probably aiming for it to be somewhere around preseason or training camp in their banking on an injury to happen so that someone has to give them something because they really pretty much tried to put on a poker face in Kinda got caught with their their underwear now like essentially as what happened to them so like right now. Most people are expecting them to just release. Andy Dalton in trade talks are probably like. I'm not gonNA give you anything other than a seven round. Pick for him. Because you're going to have to release them because you signed all of these free agents. You just drafted drove borough so. I think in terms of leverage the Bengals have no leverage in that area outside of that. I think I have to agree with you. Still though dat in those later rounds like the fifth in the six round I feel like there were certain players on the board when they could've addressed their biggest weakness which I feel like they're doubling down ourselves. I understand that they have confidence in some of the young players in this position group. But when you get guys like in a tiny moody there you got guys like prints teigen guys sitting there. You have to take now. I understand that they did address. Offense Alana did get one of a gym Turner's project players that he really loves. But you would have just would have thought that there would be more emphasis on keeping your quarterback upright instead of this false belief in him in the fact that you drafted how came with a fifth round pick and then you see fig a fifth round pick get traded for Trent. You see a fifth round pick in the third round picnic next year. Get traded from San Francisco for trick. It's like that was a no brainer for the bengals to do something like that. So when something like that happens and you see a tackle like I could get behind it if okay. We're not taking any tackles in a draft class that is deep at tackle. Okay cool I can get behind that if you sell me on we're GONNA trade this fifth rounder in a third round the next year to get Williams because none of these guys are on his level. I could get behind. That still shows that you are trying to protect your borough but to me I think that them not addressing a kind of concern me a little bit and this is the thing you gotta think the forty niners fifth and third is not Arthur member before Dr. We kept on saying this article James. My Boy James wrote an article say amid round is the is what everyone is saying now because trump has you know he's press them out to their limit where they know that he's not playing for them anymore so they gotta do something. Arthur around it possibly off. Four frown could a yielded. Trent. Where's because it's the very first pick is not like the forty niners fifth third round and? That's the other part of this that I'm like I really wish they would've pulled the trigger on that because now the only thing we're looking at as a possible the only reason that to me that we keep the bengals out of the playoffs. The difference between seven in nineteen ninety seven team is not being able to unveil the playbook and just cohesion throughout the team. In part of that cohesion is comes from a strong solid line group and people like trick. Waves don't need a whole season or half the season to get that on deck and so you couple that with the things that they did on defense to me. That's the difference between seven and nine and possibly ninety seven seven teams. Get in the playoffs to me. You know like now like granny all fans WANNA fix every single floor in the off season right but that's not the way it works and that's why I live at the beginning this thing twenty twenty. We learned triangle office. Twenty twenty one unleash hail on everybody right and I think I think that's out of Bengals our planet. 'cause the argument that you could have is that will a way it was is gonNa cost a good amount of money. Move before be you stunt the growth of the young talent that the bengals apparently really really really believe in for them not to make a move on the office of land into the sixth round draft so they have to have a lot of faith in these guys right there so that that would be the only counter arguments that you stunt the growth of someone that you got to move around or something like that some people in the comments. They wrote a they wrote in a different key. Because I believe is a great topic. some people in the Commons wrote I can't see how is president. A locker room affects boroughs development. Martin says Somebody says that Why can't they worked together? Because we don't. We don't need that energy. Its he's see meaning you like going facebook going to and stuff. There is a big group of people that really think that there's a need for adult as a backup in his locker room. You do not the number one draft pick in the NFL this prospect. That's come along to bless us just to have some guy that said A. He wanted to be out of there as soon as they put them to. The bench be believed. He's a starting quarterback in the NFL. Currently right now see his not won a playoff game. What could he possibly tell a heisman? Trophy winner that just came off the greatest quarterback season in bill. Sometimes in life is like a baby being born. You cannot tell apparent how to be a pair right from somebody else. That's another parent in. You're not going to tell them how you have to learn on your own. And Joe Borough is capable of raising his own borough babies on his own right because was never able to do that. So what could he tell me how to do Workout regimen stuff. Like that. I feel like Joe. Borough is a very smart guy and he could learn a lot of these different things so the people that are saying why doesn't exist. 'cause seventy million dollars for a backup cannot work restructuring for a guy like that. That doesn't have the same attitude that Joe Borough has currently right now no matter how you WanNa look at Dalton as a great person he does not have this attitude in this hunger. He's gotten beat up for seventy eight years in the League or whatever like though personalities don't match anything that he could have had that would have been positive taken out of him when he threw four picks in What's it called all the positives that would have been able to offer? Those are long gone and we have a concrete example of it being uncomfortable situation for Joe Borough when the media asked him right after he got picked they asked him about Andy and he clearly pivoted away from the question he said. Well that's not something that I can answer at this moment. That's more of a Zac Taylor. Question more of ownership question. So it clearly mayhem uncomfortable. No Randy Andy reached out to him to congratulate him. But I mean that's Andy. But you just don't want a situation like that you really don't want guy looking over his back especially as a rookie. Let's just say for instance Joe Borough plays his first game. He throws two interceptions. You don't WANNA pivot back to Andy Dalton or have a segment of your attic fan. Bring Back Andy Dalton. We are fully in on Joe Borough in order to fully commit to Joe Borough. We have to give him the next five years five seasons of undivided competition the same energy. We gave Andy Dalton where he had absolutely no one in his Reverend Mirror is what you have to give Joe Borough. There's no room for them. I think Jeff hops wrote this one time before they he wrote this article and I wish I could put it up for everybody but it just says they shouldn't even relieve a meat honestly by saying congrats and everything like that just shows the quality of person he is and I really believe in them. You know like as a person and I think that he has enough talent to go win somewhere else. He deserves another shot. Go somewhere else and a fresh start. He doesn't need to be pitching pigeonholed in a situation and burrowed like say borough comes out on those three picks in a game. He doesn't ever need the question of someone taking his job. He needs to have the full keys to the Lambeau. And let's crank this bad boy up if he went. Oh S. sixteen if he if he stayed predominant if he say pretty much on his feet most of the time I wouldn't say take him out one day if he was getting killed. And you're worried about your franchise quarterback. Then you're GONNA start to look at some other pieces or quarterbacks like Nola gallon that are backing them up. But that's a scenario that that's not even real like he's not going to go. Oh and sixteen. And that's the only situation I could see you even thinking about taking him up you get older and eight in the season and then now and he's getting killed. I got a preface it that way too. It's not even just losing. Because he could lose his stay upright most of the game. You weren't feel no type of way. I still say hey. These are growing pains. We're going to learn from this and keep moving. That's not happening. But if he was absolutely getting and killed. I don't want him to get killed and think that there's GonNa somehow say this in less ended with this if you are in the right now or you're out there saying don't it still should be. I would love this through. He doesn't offer anything from a mentoring aspect for a proven winner. Right for for Projo borough. That's just my belief but more than anything seventeen million dollars. That's it yes. Seventeen million dollars fit my corey. Turner in the chat. They just gave us a supercharge. Appreciate that Corey them. We got borough you right hope. We Win Hashtag Humble Pie so shout out the correct there. I believe shot them. I'm an idiot working here. He said he's at work. Did he think you don't want you to get fired? But we appreciate your listening right so moving. Onto the next big t higgins in the second round. I let me let me let me say this borough quick for you. This is what could have possibly got. Let me tell you about the foreground Sadique Charles the tackle from lsu Solomon Kinley. The Guard for Georgia's Choi Pie. Jillian the corner from Notre Dame a been the tackle from Saint John's your boy Albert Random. Four four to tighten. These are all brands so along you. You probably wouldn't even Don King David gaither because no linebacker out of human started. You go get to go get cigar with that. Fourth Round Pick. That probably could yield. Did you come back and still get a King David gaither? And that's what I'm about the the difference between one game right there and and it's not fair in day. Os explanation for what's going on with Dole and if they don't give it to us better give it to him because he deserves that but put off at work but all those years whether I like them that. Sorry that's going to t higgins. Yeah no problem before we get to see him as Martin said that he wants a shirt like minds. If you are looking for this Joe Exotic t shirt that I'm wearing for all those listening on the podcast. If you follow the Youtube Channel New Stripe City we do. These shows live through there. But for those who can't see I have. I happen to be wearing a JOE exotic tiger king tee shirt. I if you are interested in it if you check the description there is linked to where you can purchase it and we also Borough Jersey from my man ace's looking late. Holdup that Borough Baby Jersey. If you really want the Borough Jersey also is well you WanNa preorder yours and get it shipped. You can check the Lincoln the description through fanatics. You get you can also get my man t Higgins Jersey that we're going to talk about next so great point about the bengals having extra four round pick but let's talk about where this draft is really kind of exploded odd thirty third pigs so the bengals had twenty four hours. You know all of these picks come off. They're still guys like grant. Villepinte guys like Josh Jones there. There's a ton of guys that shouldn't have been there that were there and the whole town. Everyone Thinking Denzel mems Josh Jones for me personally. I'll you guys. That have been listening to this. Know that always envisioned that second round. Pick being offensive tackle For me wide receiver wasn't a immediate need. And when I say a media I mean for next season obviously in twenty twenty one season there is a need for a receiver there but I felt like we could get by. When when t higgins name was brought up. He was the only guy at receiver that I really considered and would have understood the bengals. Taking because in my mind t higgins was a first round talent he performed at Clemson. When you look at Clemson's track record in terms of wide receivers. You can't complain. Because you have the Andre Hopkins. You Got Sammy Watkins. You have Mike Williams. You have all of these notable guys that came out of Clemson and the fact that the bengals had the Kahane's big Kahuna isn't Harry Cohn as to pull the trigger on T. Higgins if you guys watching you see. I loved that because to me. There is no way that you should have picked Denzel. Mems in my opinion over to Higgins with t on the board if you were going to go receiver so I immediately loved the pick and I initially Kinda thought. Is this something that we can we can work with. Is this something that is going to be able to be something to give this offense the joke that it needs and I think that it does and I think that you also keep John Ross. Look there's no reason to get rid of John Ross. Because it's only gonNA caution money. Why give John Ross to another team? This is a guy that has shown and that was one of the main reasons that I was so pressed about office tackle. Is I understand John. Ross has had injury has right you guys know from Day One? I wasn't the biggest Ross guy but come on after what this man did in the first two weeks of last season that showed you that there is something there with John. Ross and he did that without. Aj Green and without Joe. Berlin quarterback. So I wanted to see if they're just imagine these guys go five. Y It's potentially scary now Z. Higgins what are your thoughts if you are listening to this. I changed my name every single episode. And today I'm C. Higgins but I like Y'all WanNa give them who they fired up. Talk about why receivers. That's one thing we did our first mark. It's a couple of guys that are in here that when we did our first mark I went t- Higgins showing highlights. That was my pick and I gotTA talk now. Let me calm them. But when t higgins went across the screen it totally shot me. It was clearly the best player available on the Bengals bore whether you agree with it or not whether you feel like they should address them other knees but a lot of times we talk about best player available before the draft and afterwards I see a lot of people say who is you. GotTa tackle you. Yes we need we are. I WANNA be a lead position. But if you're thinking and I said this a bunch of times on the part and I think probably says some stuff to this this intimate to John Ross. If he has a good year this year right. You'RE NOT GONNA be able to afford them the year after because you gotTa Pay Green if he has a bad year John. Ross project is over. You don't pick up fifty option right which are banking on was on. Ross's a third round compensatory pick at his highest form because of his first round pedigree. Losing him a free agency if he had a good year right. And that's the play with John. Ross so you keep John Ross because he could yield you back a third or fourth the following your anyway so there's no scenario where you should trade him for anything because you wouldn't get what you potentially could get anyway. You have the right song right now and just let them play out this contract. Somebody said what sizes is. Jersey is a medium The next thing is that I asked this question before the draft was named me and I I try to get prizes out and everything. Nobody could do it. Name me a number one quarterback that was drafted in the NFL that had this many weapons at his disposal day. One the only team got close to and I saw. Did he tell me did he? Is the only person that told me on twitter. There has never been a person. You Argue Maybe Cam Newton. That had these weapons year one and CAM. Newton had Jonathan Stewart. He had the other runabout. Olsen Steve Smith a young Brady Louisville and probably like another hour to and that was before I said t higgins came to the Rosser Nazi Higgins is on a roster. I would argue this. My new contest is this what wide receiver core is better than the bengals were receiving core right now. I hear a lot of eagles of heard a couple of bucks I don't buy. I've heard I've heard I've heard say cowboys cowboys heard it. The only the only thing I can ask about the rookie quarterback weapons thing player did this player to have played his rookie year. Yes number okay. So that I was GONNA say we're GONNA go with home. But Penn Mahomes didn't play his cowhand it was. He was taken as an insurance pick. So a lot of the angst and a lot of the reason why I asked that question because I always have a meaning. All these questions is the meaning wise because the people that are scared to death of picking a quarterback in a in a quarterback failure they always go to the people that failed before them Jameis Winston. I wouldn't even say James Winston failure but anybody that you can name David car. Like worse case scenario Ryan Leaf Right. They're always point to lie. Mandated like these guys. Did the people that you can name. They never ever had these resources. Nobody ever had that at their disposal as the number one pick. And that's the one thing that I will say. And that is an unbiased bengals. I look I look I went to I went to. I went to everybody. You could take a budget teams. That always had one guy. I remember some players before this whole thanks for no players that I'm in contact with. They were all members saying Cam. Newton Cam Newton. The players really want candidate Newton. That are on the bengals behind the scenes right. They WANNA cam. Newton in the argument. Was the campaign. Never had these types of weapons or whatever and I said. Yeah Joe Borough a never seen yoga. Lsu was on fire out there. Whatever the weapons that he has right now. Are you serious like when you hear from a national standpoint on the bengals the LSU has so many people like yeah? They had a bunch of play. The headlight with nine players drafted or something like that. And they had like we have a whole. Nfl Roster like you know what? I'm saying so compare collegiate team to NFL roster. There's made it through this step in their career in we're talking about pro bowl talent tolerable. John Ross eight touchdowns and once. He's in whether you believe him on that there are players that have played five six years in the league. It hasn't even sniffed eight touchdowns and we're talking about at his lowest form. This is the best why receiving core in the NFL in his. Never been another quarterback. That's got drafted at this spot and been able been thrust right into it so a lot of these stories where your point to and say well. This is why quarterbacks don't work we should just wait. We should just do like no. This is the time the time is now. The guys are there. Joe Mixing their the players. Are There the coaching staff? Is there in? The resources are given the Joe. The one thing that we're gonNA talk about as we go through recap is the line. The Knicks pick t higgins. Was that was amazing. Pick if I didn't speak on that as much but I'll get fired up while PUA receives. I was on the Hague war. The only thing that scared me off a little bit with speed but then but cool. Let's get into it more laws for for me though. I think when you turn on the film though he doesn't look like he has a speed problem. Like I know people get caught up in forty air. Right exactly is there. I think we saw some similar to how a boy. But moving on to third round. Pick Logan Wilson. Not a surprise for me. This was actually a guy that I wanted. I just didn't like how early they took him. I'm I'm not a because you never know that he was actually one of the first linebackers outside of Markets Bailey. Believe it or not that I looked at because of and I liked Logan Wilson And I I'm not mad at them for taking him in the third round because there was a risk that if you get to the end of the third round or middle third round somebody could have taken But I loved the pick just simply because it was a linebacker. I mean bengals and third round linebackers. They love him. I honestly thought that they would go. Josh Jones and should have gone Josh owns but I couldn't be mad about them going to get a linebacker either at the same time. The only thing that makes me feel good about not picking Josh Jones. Cause remember it the talk before he was hit as collectively as a nation. We also mims or Josh Jones. The night before right. So what did the NFL tell us about Josh Jones? He wasn't worth a second round. And then he falls down in the third. So that Kinda got rid of my angst athleticism and everything was there but the things that I'm here back From like people within that are connected to the sports world or whatever or just feedback that you see online is just like p buying into the dogging him or anything like that which I. I'm not sure I don't have to be honest with you if you were washing. The reaction to Logan Wilson. The Logan Wilson pick they kind of kept hitting at the without exactly especially saying. Why didn't you pick Josh Jones? Because he was at the senior bowl. Zack in a way now I can't. I can't say that this is what he meant. But this is how I took. It seemed like he said that we were there with all of the guys at the senior bowl and we knew that Logan Wilson essentially wasn't lazy. He had this drive and stuff like that to me. It came off almost says he wasn't. He was kind of saying that Josh Jones might have had some kind of issue there and that might have been the reason why they go. Josh Jones is something there that we don't believe this. This is the one thing that fans got realizes that bengals have a system in place. They're going to run it the way that they want to run it. There are players. That probably don't meet up like I'll tell you the thing that killed me is to see Willy Gay go a couple Play picks right before I've been so from the bengals that they they didn't even have willygate on their team. I mean on their on their board at that spot. And Logan Wilson was the next guy. Georgia Brooks was the guy that they want that got picked. Twenty seven from the seahawks didn't want. Willie gave so and also the linebacker from that the Raven. Sook I heard was also on their radar. I can wait quitting. Yeah I mean to me that that's the reason member we had these argue not even arguments discussions before the draft is. If we stay in the spot it will have to be because excuse me a guy like queen just falling right into your lap in when Queen didn't fall right into your lap. I'm like okay so but this thing it was so much talented right here in a second I I. There's no way anybody WANNA trade up because it's like who are you trying to trade up to go get what all of these guys still there? Because the first round yielded. Seven eight guy. I've had no business going in the first round according to anybody's mouth so a lot of a lot of fans I wanted to send this message. A lot of fans a lot of fans say what about the line? What about the line? It were truly talking about best player available. If Josh Jones was it lit like we thought he was in. Some of these other guys didn't warrant the second round pick. You cannot be mad at the fact that they went with the best person available. Who I truly believe. We're probably going to get picked the next pick. Or the pick. After that and T- Higgins by the time we get down a Logan Wilson. If that's the number one linebacker on your board and you see right after it. No linebackers in the linebackers that came off or whatever it took a while so there was a clear. Divide in the bengals did right on it. It contracts loose APPALACHIA. He comes on the board. Nobody cares right. It's just a it's just a that is a reach as you can see the reach because no run were start. No picks later yielded another tight end close to that spot. So Logan Wilson wasn't my guy. My Guy Matt Mimic shot out the Matt Mimic. If you guys haven't heard of stuff he does some chalk. Talk Style on. Says he jungle? Which is amazing. But he was always on the Logan Wilson Train and he told me about that the night before. I did a lot with him. We were at one o'clock two o'clock in the morning and he was talking. Logan Wilson's a guy that we should get and we also looking at bond. But I say all that to say this. I liked that Pitt. But the pick after. That is the pick of the draft to me. That's GonNa that's GonNa make this whole thing pop like when we start talking about like long jeopardy at Logan Wilson talking about play makers you WanNa see. Highlights you WanNa see Monday night. Football the fourth round pick is the guy that is going to do that force. Let's talk about a km Davis. Get this guy this guy. We gotTA talk about that. This pick was amazing because it showed that the bengals realized the linebackers trash and for me. This is what I've been wanting to do for the last couple of years and to see them finally do it. I was highly excited in. Really Kinda. Got My mind jogging. Because we know later on they also picked up markets Bailey. Does this mean that the bengals are moving to a three or four? I have no idea but they have a hell of a lot of inside linebackers linebackers that can do other things that reason that also like Akeem Davis gaither is because he's so out of the mode of what the bengals usually go for it right there were only about one or two guys. When I went back in retouched problem I did find someone that was two hundred and twenty five pounds but generally they kinda tend to stay away from those prospects so Santa bingles go out of their boxing and grab a guy like came Davis game through that can be used in multiple positions. Where you can actually. He's he's Even line the back corner before he can line up in the box. Come on that safety. You can run him off the edge. This guy is a weapon. You can literally line him up and use him at any position but I will be doing an injustice to keep talking so this is the first time I ever heard of a keen Davis gator. It was from my man's Zim Higgins Zim. Let me know what she thought about. The team Davis gave her pick. Just just a back story on this. I have a friend. That's from Greensboro North Carolina. And as always told me about you know he's mentioned to me before whatever that's where King David gaither from if you all don't know I I lived in North Carolina. I went to NC state. So that's the backstory as the draft starts going along. I'm watching something and I'm just saying this guy like popoff go crazy. I figured out a way I actually speak tool. He told me that his interview with really will with the bengals. So I knew that in the back of my head the whole time. So that's the thing that I never disclosed at anybody. He said. I think it went really really well like really well. So when a four star at all the and this is another thing couple days before I have messaging I even wrote like one of his pages or something like that said get ready to you know to get it because somebody else told me something else too and I had a feeling that if he was on the board but these are the type of guys every year that we talk about like the guys that make plays where we were in free agency and I was really really wanted. High Clinton Dix is because I watch I watch guys like tyrod. Matthew in these guys aren't the greatest and coverage or aren't the greatest at maybe one thing. But when the lights cut on something clicks for certain guys and a lot of Pittsburgh still I hate the reference. Pittsburgh steelers here but there. They have a lot of guys in a very very good at this. The measurable don't really match up. That will a lot of times. They they got a lot of head scratching picks there are some picks that I I mean they do you belie I wish we would have got him very rarely but a lot of times they do. This really really good job of finding guys that perform well in very very very crunch scenarios. I don't know what do from scouting standpoint but Dave is gate like. I don't know if you guys have seen the punt blocks they even had them return and stuff like there's so many different things and he has a knack forgetting a ball interceptions slightly undersized was made me feel like the bengals might not go with it but somebody had talked to him and just say go get a playmaker and figure out what to do with them in lieu anteroom who. I have all the faith in the world is going to figure out something to do with this guy. Your parents them up. You're not just sitting them out there and I don't even look at them as just a primary linebacker. I just feel like when you go. Play the raiders. Like that's the answer. That kind of got that guy. Shor short tackling like McKenzie Alexander von Bill guys on a perimeter Even a kid that we're gonNA talk about this that I didn't. I wasn't a big fan but setting the correct age. It having your linebackers go a seek out the quarterback. It picked the correct angles. The worst thing the linebackers in previous bengals in the last decade the biggest flaw in a knick vigil is picking correct lanes. Finally you have. Oughta a measurable is in the world but shedding blocks in different reason. I didn't want Kenneth. Murray shedding blocks is a big thing. A habit in being able to and get low in figure out ways to get into the back will figure out ways to meet a running back out on the flat figure out different ways to be where ball needs to be. There's some players that got it is some don't indicate Davis Gate. Their one hundred percent has it. You WanNa talk about like the the reason why we complain about some players. A lot is because you don't see him do anything and when you do see them is in a negative light. I promise you there's GonNa be a play or two every single game that you're going to say Dan. He broke that play up. He was in the backfield on that concert and players. Just got it and when you watch the highlights and you just you don't have to be deep guy like my guidemap mimic. I rely on guys like that to give me all the measurable and make it. Tell me what he's good. And what is bad but just watching highlights just watching the things that we know. I just believed in him so early and I and I I would to my own horn. I'm going to tell you about a guy that I don't really believe in a little further down like as far as like a impact on the scene currently right now but a cave is there is a guy that I believe. We'll have an impact day. One he won't be thrust into the starting lineup. I think Logan Wilson will automatically like day. One you guys gotta think we got jobs bonds to like. This is lit somebody. Somebody say Chris Various if we scored thirty points a game. It's a failure. My my mark will be twenty eight if you score twenty points a game with this team. One hundred percent ninety seven ten to six. Take that to the bank Nova says that we should have absolute we run. I Y but if we can't is going to be the line I didn't know if you want to go through some of these questions but right now we're always miss. It is play making in. I think myself included until I correct in my prime. We talked about how small came David. Gaither was and I kinda got annoyed with some of the the media kind of just constantly asked him about that. I don't know if you watch the recap video when they kind of talked to him but they add some weird questions in there but the bengals have in a sense taken a linebacker his his size before in the past and they did it in two thousand four Kayla Miller He was a third round. Pick as well would there round. Pick not fourth round pick But he was six three to twenty five so he was a guy that was weightwise down there. And it's Kinda crazy because the bengals apparently were trying to go after that position at a smaller way way back in two thousand and four before it became the trend but it why the only thing why. Why weren't they interested in Devon Bush last year though right right that's what that's what? But they they could have been. Then we don't know the steelers did trade in front of the Bengals to make sure that they took him so it's no telling whether they would have went with Bush or not because he was taken pick before. I guess we'll never know but I think we're still good with Donna. Williams all right if you could take John Williams and King David gaither. I mean I think that you take that any day right but outside of that I see a lot of people talking about my guy in the first guy. That was at top of prime. Logan Wilson was second. The first guy was Marcus Bailey right immediately. When I saw this guy I went to the highlights and I was like all right. Who is who is this guy in. I know I skipped some rows. Well I just wanted to talk about him because I know in the comments they've been they've been making comments on them but they talked about markets. Bailey I looked at him and immediately on film. Guy stood out to me and with me being ignorant and obviously not watching and Keeping College Football. I went and posted his stuff and I was like man. I'd take a mid round fire on a markets Bailey and then come to find out he's had two SEO injuries and stuff like that but outside of that this pick really reminded me of the Rodney Anderson. Pick because you're getting tremendous value of a guy that is completely amazing. When you watch him he could easily ended up being the best linebacker of this group that we picked no cat no cap at all like his boss. Skills are amazing. This guy can do everything. He's very smart He played at purdue. I like what I saw from him in anybody. That's Ohio State Fan. Understand who markets Bailey is so that was good to see that they went after I got. I come from Ohio which I honestly didn't even know that he was from Columbus Ohio That guy is. I think he's going to be possibly the still the draft I can confidently say then. I feel like Marcus. Bailey is GONNA be distilling the draft because we got him in the several around. But I just had to say that real quick because men as soon as I saw that guy was just like wow and then people kind of let me down when they were like. Oh he's he's got his knee. Injuries is probably not going to happen with the federal still took him in several around. I can't wait to see him. Pick off Big Ben. I feel like I have to be dead until existence because if you watch. This highlight tape is nothing him. Like picking off guys and he picks to Dan together like grow with Pratt with Josh bonds. Like that's why I'm wondering. Are we going to switch to the thirty four? Like I'm going to have to do some more research for US. But that three or four looks like is it could potentially happen people. You gotTA intimate. Dj Reader came from a three four guys. Picking a lot of them have overlap at the same position so for me. I think that that's it but moving back in and going back to the fifth round. I believe that was the pick where we took her. Kim Or was that Corinne was it. Kareem or hurricane is hard. It's hard to say is colleague. Karim Khalili Kareem This guy immediately. I saw him. I had never watched him. He was pretty decent all prime for me. When I saw him I saw playmaker the highlights and looked at when I look at highlights always look for who they are planning against. Are these big games. Is He planned Ohio State? Is He planning to Alabama? What is he doing in this game? Is he making plays in those games and for me? I saw playmaker and when we went live and we were kind of discussing it. I love the comparison to Wallace. Gilbert San oldest guy looks like Wallace Gilbert. At first I was kind of like. I don't know how this is GONNA work out. But the fact that he can be like was bearing be deployed in several different positions. I love the fact that he also coached by my man. Larry Black that you might remember from hard nuts. That was on the BENGALS AHEAD. That ankle injury. He coached him. I'm confident in the coaching that he put into him. And I'm going to be reached out to Larry to see if we can possibly get him on the show but I love the pick afterwards at the time. I didn't love it. I thought it was like men's this is a mistake. But after looking at the film in San where he can bring to the table if this guy can be somewhat like Wallis Gilbert and ended up developing into a guy really at his trying to death. Who that's that is my ceiling for him. Twenty Eleven Jonathan for nine eight. And if you don't know who that is go back and watch the twenty eleven season. John was linked mustard if you look at if you look at Bengals guys. There's more like a frosty rucker. Bilberry these guys have stay around for a while and you noted they give you production. I do like it from that standpoint at the time no in and again. I'm not on on the BENGALS STAFF. Then my dad had to be a consensus thing. They say okay. We can tackle guard right here. But this guy isn't GonNa beat out Jordan or this guy is going. I think the conversation had to be and if the guy is beating out Michael Jordan or the guy is beating out Xavier Fellow. Then why are we picking the right there and I guess that's how the conversation good win but I felt like our biggest weakness on the team. I just felt like that was a prime spot. And only time will tell if that was if that was the correct pick. I will say this this Guy Khalid Kareem. I don't think you're ever going to see a bunch of snacks. A lot of different highlights is like he's making he's making plays with his motor is calling. He's causing a lot of disruption but the reason why I think it's tax low His Ex pretty low on a junior or was it. The same here is because there's a lot of highlights where he doesn't get all the way to the quarterback and when he when he is there he he might cause a fumble every once in a while. You see a lot of pressure in just a set the edge type of guy and I just don't believe from a bengals standpoint like the Gaza they already have like Andrew Browns at a world or And I'm grouping all of our fruit together now because you're going to see these different five in France and they're going to be mixing it up all over the place so or Game Day. Only ten are going to get carried on a on on Game Day right and I'm just doing quick math. Who's the guy out like rid like they kind of whip pretty they invested pretty high. Realize you like there. There are some guys quick question for you. Renault ran are just hoopoe because honestly like to ward off today. I'm just saying if if if you're going out there and you're not gonNA address more than ten on on the front. Who are one of these guys that we already have like an ED brown glass? I call them young. Yeah I call them young glaze. 'cause that's his name will instagram. I let her name but these guys that they've already invested in that they do like where does Khaliq re? Who Does he pushed off the field? Because you already know lawsuit Hubbard Reader Atkins dunlap. That's your file right other guys saying we already have five. Sitting now ED's debt is really really low and I liked it for the future. I just thought that was a prime opportunity to tackle or guard but more especially with Moody on the Board. I think everybody wanted or prince or print. I'm Moody to go the next pick like right after fingers picked. I just think with the sturt the Moody the film that I've seen him knocking out. Pancakey people all that type of crazy stuff. We don't have guys like that debt whereas on the line now so we're talking about somebody that's going to impact again right now. I would. My bet would be on Moody. I take the You know in a one on versus you know like this twenty two one on Khalid Kareem like I just I think for me. Those were some of the downs of this draft like I. I hear people saying that you know everyone gave the Bengals as and we're not knocking them right but don't last year a lot of people get a bengals as to so we saw how that turned out. I didn't I never felt like I if you go back to my draft for last year I created a C. Plus B. MINUS. Like half the time and always. I'm not giving this one. A just ought to break is because they did not move on it to me. That was. That's a part of the draft me like that's the story that goes until and I'll never forget the talent that was there in the fourth round. 'cause we are having a conversation about is Khalid Kareem to pick right here. You got the luxury of doing it right there in filling in debt if somebody goes down and camp immediately we'll probably say well. Khaliq remove glad he's going to fill but I just don't see I don't see who never dressing more than ten on on anterior for I mean you know in the front so I just for me. Impact playing right away. Accuracy Logan Wilson all day off the break. Then I go in the NFC. Akeem Davis gave at the very minimum special teams all day in a dime packages. All Day. Right now two hundred three hundred snaps and minimal first year Khaliq Green. I don't see how he gets on the field right away unless I'm not seeing something in that goes into our six round pick on time. I can't remember. His last name is pronounced a certain way. We're GONNA call him. Mr Haquin. Flu Hakeem Dingy for me. I think that this was a pick that could potentially main something in a few years. He's the guy that has a lot of potential Matt Mimic who will follow on twitter. Coach Mimic. I think is very high on this guy. There were some other writers around the NFL that were high on this guy. Seems like a guy that with a high ceiling if they can get that potential. So I'm not mad at this pick. This is a guy that will come in at the guard position and compete in. I think that for us not really having much there at the left guard and Right Guard position. I would love to see the guy. Be like a trade hopkins kind of guy come in end up no making potentially a run at the start position so I wasn't mad with that at all. Yeah I love that pick. I I actually did. I didn't know too much about him. I started watching the highlights. Like that's what that's the Guy. I didn't have an opinion on a new today. Had to get a lie they had to get some line somewhere and if that's their guy in a in a drop down to the six zone and hey that's awesome. I just like some of the time like Moody. I I really think from. An impact standpoint compete in day. One I just think he makes the room better. And that was my thoughts on that this guy. I think he'll do really well I think he'll be somebody that they can keep around for a while and who knows. He might be the sleeper of the whole entire draft for me. I'm always looking impact because fans get impatient. You know I'm patient enough to know that right now. We are building some crazy blocks. I think two thousand twenty this draft setup two thousand twenty one season like more than anything not this season but two thousand twenty one. I feel like it's going to give them free rein to do anything. They want the animal that they want if they come if they get close to the playoffs or just make the playoffs and say they get one win or something like that. I think it's going to be for throttle. Come Two thousand twenty one where the whole league is scared to death offense in it really set it up like that and John Ross is GonNa have to figure out. What is he going to? You know what is his role a hack any make impact on his team and if he can it. That's the difference to me to making this whole thing work because as we're highlighting a lot of this deepens and then we get now. We're getting into the depth and you kind of talked on The the kit for purdue a little bit I'd just feel like the young talent. That's there is just so so so special right now and really buying into the four year window of a quarterback so one thing that I just found on twitter here is I may have realized why the patriotism not traded for Andy Dalton as of now the ten top ten teams with the least cap space post draft. The Patriots are number two. They only have a million dollars right now people. So that could be the reason the hang-up of why they haven't traded for anti-dumping Zags got clearly there sixteen million dollars short. Whatever the JAGS doesn't say unfortunately they only showed which this list neither of these lists included us so it seems like we in Jack's must be in the Middle Aberdare tweeted the top ten teams with the most cap space post draft and then he also tweeted the top ten with the least cap space post draft so apparently apparently Jacksonville. It's probably what I'd say over over the CAT DOT COM. I don't know this was updated. I'm not sure when this was updated but Team cap space on the last updated. One I have is eighteen Five eighteen million five hundred eighteen five. Bengals say no for the JAGS. They had yet. They probably do have a right now. What thing that I've been throwing around the hold it because I mean and then you gotta think they're gonNA move. I think we're moving yet. They're gonNA move on it but I think this is the this is what you have to think of. Would you rather have a Trevor Lawrence Andy Dong? I think they'd rather have Trevor Lawrence. I think the jags are doing exactly what Miami tried to do last year and what. We ended up accomplishing and I think they would feel like now they do have Jay Gruden there. So that's a great point but I don't think that they're trying to win this year and I think like I think they would be better off because if you bring any don in obviously once we got to the Owen eight spot he got he got us a couple of UH. I think once we got the only way. We're going to get him down so that he doesn't mess this up at all and the last thing that you want to be is in a position where luckily Miami looked out because to a goes down has the injury so he still got your guy but imagine if they wouldn't have right so the last thing Jacksonville wants to do is bring in a guy like Andy Dot net could potentially get them wins. And then you lose out on Trevor Lawrence. That's the only see. I Love Jacksonville until I realized that they were just straight up. Tanking like Jacksonville. Straight up to get rid of trading away Leonard for now see that was when we started off the show. I thought winner for Net and I thought Eddie. Don't we'll get traded after day one. I really thought I don't know why I felt like. I just thought I will wake up and see dinner right. You had talked about our seven round. Pick from perdue has some good information on them like like. I Say. Earlier like every highlights. I'm talking deep interceptions. In the scene I think special teams a one. Google Marcus Bailey in. Its Marcus with his K. M. A. R. K. U. S. Bailey highlights and. Just watch them. Do you go I if you wanted to go. It was a lot of good questions. Someone just wrote about mixing right now because someone was asking me this earlier to we had a prime opportunity to get some big time running backs. Do you think the Bengals made a mistake by not going and getting a running back and this Dr not at all because I think when you look at it and I think we kinda talked about it too with them signing quiz Patrick and already having riding the Anderson is already having Trivia on Williams and Giovanni Bernard and Joe Mixing. That really wasn't a need for them to reach in and take a running back right because I rd realistically outside of position like linebacker stuff like that. Running back probably wanted strongest positions on this roster. It's not like a linebacker position. It's not like often to tackle position and so for me with them. Having less stable of run AMAC set there and in my opinion I think the biggest leap at all of them is really Rodney Anderson. Seeing what he did last year there really wasn't no reason for them to take one in. I mean last year they doubled up at the position so for me. Obviously those guys Zach believed in and so for me. It wasn't really a need for them. And say you know the biggest lever and all of this all running backs this season. I mean coming up who. Geo Bernard because from pass protection standpoint. The one thing that Joe Mixing can't do block and that's been ill in Geo Bernard is going to be on the field. We're talking five wise sets and all this crazy stuff like that Betty O'hare geos out there. That's funny because it's funny because I've been doing my man my man thing and someone kept saying why has geo out there so much because we're going five one that's what's GonNa Happen? Zim pointed all like he's the best passed protecting running back in. I mean you pay them out of that money he's gotta he's gotTa earn the money Madden dragons says the legend of King becomes the legend of Dalton. And Sean Lee says. We're almost beating the steelers. Aj Dot Wednesday game easy talking about twenty fifteen. Okay all right. I'm trying to get into the Shali. Says I'm a leg at them away from two so proposed talking about Carson Palmer and Andy Dalton going down. He feels like those were two are a couple of injuries. That kept us from super bowls. Getler Huda who says I think a B plus only because of the uncertainty with the last week Picks and I guess that kind of gets me to the point where I was going to ask you. What would you grade this whole draft? I will have to give it a B. I'm going to give it a solid B. I was thinking be plus like. If I'm being on optimistic side I would probably say be plus but for me as a be just simply because there were times where they could've addressed the offensive line and they're in that could it be a number of ways whether it was just picking a certain guy at a certain place especially Moody Kind of comes to mind when I think about that. The most whether it's taken at pick that you pick with Hakim which was a fifth rounder. Impairing that was third rounder to get Trent Williams to me. Those are things that they could have done now for me when I look at this offensive line. Yes it has Joan Williams coming back. I am excited about John Coming back. But there's still a lot of question marks. We have to remember that Xavier. Suwa fellow was a backup. He wasn't reserve in. He did have some up and down times before he got to Dallas. You have to remember that. You also have to think about Bobby Hart Manning that right. Tackle position is bobby. Hart the Worse he said boy he no. He's not but he was at sometimes inconsistent last season. You lost cordy Glenn. Even though we all were upset about cordy Glenn the matter was he still was obviously one of our best linemen that we had last year that we didn't have and we won't have him this year. You look at Michael Jordan. Were really depending on him to take the next step next year. And we're also looking at our Manfred Johnson who we both like. But when I talked to Austin jail. He didn't seem to be as high on Fred. Johnston as all of our families was. But these are guys that were betting on and I just think when you have a guy like Joe Borough coming in yes. It's nice to get him. New Weapons T higgins and. It's nice to get guys for that Defense Forum in the gladdened free agency and get these guys. But I really just would've liked for them to do a little bit more on offense align. So that's what makes it a b from zoom for me. I gotTA GO A B two. I would I mean if you would've went just rows one through four. That's eight plus to me. I really I really felt like Logan. Wilson Fits Dany. Would this new defense in King? David's gate there is the is the playmaker that goes along with it that I just think we'll just go so crazy. I just didn't like the one thing I will say and I don't take away a great just because I didn't get my guy but to see Willy Gate come off a couple of picks right before it kind of changes it because say you get willygate right there. Then you don't have to get Davis gave because essentially coverage. You're getting the same thing for Milan back in court and you don't WanNa be undersized too much to smaller linebackers so I just thought that. That was the won. Miss that right there that other miss. That was the only one in the third. Misstep was the the Khalid Korean. Pick the timing of it when you see the board the Moody all these different things around that I just. I felt like we could have went a different direction. Because the number one macho for the whole entire season is by all cost protect. Joe Borough Right. I have to agree with you on that. And shut off the Doug in chat. Doug Make Menem mcmanamon. I'm sorry if I'm butchering that in appreciate appreciate that In appreciate your kind comments on us being spot offer analysis but yeah. I agree with them. I think that I saw some people like overrating. Its hand if this was the best bengals draft for all the time I I was excited coming out of it but I did not share those sentiments. I'll think is the best of all tax. I mean I try to take my personal away from it because in my mind every time I saw poor like even even a hindsight I stoop probably look at the second round as much. As I'm the biggest proponent of wide receivers and play makers office like just give me firepower I I watched the cheese had the most average defense the corners in say cheese. I don't think I believe Mr Defense Wins Championships Guy. I don't believe I don't think I realized how bad off they word the year prior and then they added a couple of pieces but their number one defense is their office. Your office is your defense steelers. Fan of scare. We have a steelers fan in our midst. It looks like any blanks Eddie. Money for the borough era any any. We're GONNA WE'RE GONNA cook you up. I hope you guys who George Foreman is over there because we put you on the skillet young man sir able to but I say that to say it's not about me getting my guys. If you could show me a plane and then I can buy into it and I bought into this plan that they have. I couldn't buy into that plan. They had last year. And I think the groundwork for a lot of stuff is go is good. If you didn't get t higgins right then you would have had to get some type T higgins the year after. And what did I say the Pie right before I say I never want to be in a position and I don't look at stuff at the end result. Everybody says well. Tyler boy ended up in a great big salad. Boy was the most force pick at the time that I can remember because we just lost. Marvin aims new. It's a new at the time. All the guys they didn't want it. The willful is the treadmills. I Really WanNa Dotson and all these guys ended up being trashed right but we were. Everybody doesn't remember. We weren't looking for slot receiver and it as love Tyler boy and we were looking for that. We were looking for speed in and that was a situation that was. I did not like that. Pick in the second round now worked out in. I'll be. I'll be the first one to tell you. I did not believe in that. Big But solid boy. If we didn't do a higgins this draft. We would've came back next year. We're looking at Arbor Shen Judy next year in. Twenty in the twentieth taking the draft. Right or we would have been looking at. Somebody potentially like Higgins in the second fallen to us so for them getting it right now whether you like it or not. They would have had to do the same thing next year because once rows roles in they don't figure out this. Aj Green thing or if AJ green is injured or anything like that. You're going to have to do the same exact thing. Why not make one position group on your team elite and right now even if it's not the best is top three in NFL and right there that that alone gets you wins hearing big shout out to get low. This year be realistically knows them doesn't really like to get into this kind of stuff. But he has been censored dumbest. I kinda out to be honest them now remember. I was the first one that was talking about speaking things into existence with two in. I remember you call me out and you were like are you. Do you really want to do this to yourself? But then you followed it up with the borough so let's get into this record for me I can confidently say Nana seven. That's where I'm at with it. I'm thinking nine and seven I don't know with with them allowing more teams into the playoffs. If that means that we get this by but for me best off of this draft based off of free agency based off of teams having to adjust to Joe Borough. That's another thing people aren't GonNa have film him I can confidently say not at seven especially with all of this firepower. All of these improvements Zim. What are your thoughts? Let me shoot ninety seven. Gets you in the playoffs that I'm not sure because now that we have this this whole thing with the seventeen I think nine seven can get you win there but this is a tough division? We we get in the playoffs with a guy like Joe. Borough I'm telling you now all that all that that that that inks of getting your first playoff win. That'll be Lisa your words. That will be a wildcard team. Nobody wants to play a hungry. Young Joe Borough without a worried if he managed to get to a seventy year one by Kate. Imagine that you won't ever in this are like man is is easily GonNa be going to be an exciting season but with that being said we can go ahead and hold on. We're going to bring them back.
