What what's the difference between its emergency authorization. Now it's fully authorized. The difference is a very bureaucratic. One and i kinda understand and sympathize with what you were saying before. What's this really mean. i suppose the fda's role in all of this is the bear the ones who tell us when the thing is safe on the so this is them saying finally not that. It's just safe enough but it's actually you know as safe as as the standard needs to be and So what. I think happens next. Is we find out whether people were saying you know we were hesitant about the vaccine because it's not fully approved whether that was genuine or whether that was kind of an excuse evaporated. Yeah so we'll actually see people are going to go get inoculated now that it has the full approval which i hope they do. Yeah it's still a really good vaccine and Look data have been piling up for a while now and it looks like it works at safe and all the things you could really want an about seen all right now. You're the expert we. We are seeing an increasing number of people. Come down with the with co vid the variant the delta variant apparently even though they were they were already been fully vaccinated Is this something. That should be of great concern. What can be done about it. What is being done about it. Tell us about it. Yeah so this is kind of a measurement of how many people are still susceptible out there. So even with vaccination. You're talking about something like ten percents Who would be susceptible because the vaccines are around ninety percent effective. You've got one of the two does thaksin's now. And that's a good place to start with these but take childhood. Vaccines like polio. Typically i think we do four doses of that in the us and their other dosing schedules would break that up. Even more sometimes it takes a few more doses to get to a point where a vaccine will actually take hold and give you lifelong protection and the first two doses of the copay nineteen vaccine works roughly as well as the polio vaccine so it may be that We're on our way to three or four. And i would think of it more as completing the series Right now we just don't know how many takes to get to that number And that's what we're finding out but every extra dose is a little extra protection on. That's not a bad thing doll. Okay and what about kids. The the young ones who have not been approved for the vaccinations when they're already back at school and they're you know. Some of them are not wearing masks. And so forth right Still very much risk. And i would say to your kids at school. Are the wave of this. Fires can get into the house and it is definitely a risk and probably going to be one the sources of definitely not the only source of the current wave of virus Running across texas. And the us. What's taking so long for the vaccination for the younger kids trying to be super duper careful They stepping down and belaid groups. And we've seen some of these safety data already And effectiveness data for kids down as young as five if i remember correctly and it looked really good. They had lower side effects and just as Markers of immunity but they started these late and i think part of that was due to wanting to make sure there was enough vaccine to vaccinate the age groups that were approved. I think they've rolled it out for everybody all at once. You would have big vaccine availability problems and so in a way. That's caused another problem. We're seeing many parts of this country including miami with high test positivity rates so you have large gatherings with masking and social distancing that can be really necessary in terms of surge that we might see and so this fast reopening. That's a place really lead to increases in cases but most importantly hospitalizations and deaths mean we have about thirty two percent of adults that have at least one victim now but that still leaves a lot of adults and vulnerable populations that could potentially deal with the worst of this This fires and so you know now's the moment not to let our guard down truly. It's being referred to at the highest levels as a fork in the road. Miami as we know has the highest positivity rate of any metro area. And there's a new strain that we learned about this weekend the brazilian variant which was found a new york. One we know about the effectiveness of vaccines against the new variants right. When can we be assured that most of us are safe and when is our duty to start shipping overseas to happen right. So we're in the homestretch. We think that they'll be enough vaccine by may to start really unionizing the entire adult population and so now we have this fourth thaksin which looks to be just as good as the other three now. Likely the supply that will come in may about fifty million. Vaccines probably won't make a big difference to our population because we just had so much of the other three and so that puts a bit of pressure to think about how we get this vaccine to other countries clearly. "Up dumb. Right. Now, more than one hundred, seventy vaccines for covid nineteen or being developed across the world. Of, those six are in final large scale clinical trials. While the races on policy policymakers are. With two questions how much to spend on vaccines that may or may not win and how to ensure the winner or winners are distributed fairly, you cannot be no world where some people are saved another. It's an alliance that funds vaccines for poor countries the steps that need to be taken to ensure vaccines that distributed fairly Require. Collaboration and solidarity of the world governing has set up what's called Kovacs purchasing pool for several late stage vaccine candidates is that facility it has ninety two developing countries in it low and middle income countries, and it also has seventy seven rich countries that have expressed interest by bringing them all together we will have an affordable price of vaccines for all. We have risk sharing in the facility for all, and this will ensure that so many more people in the world who would not have had access will have access so to. So I'm experts think that the feasible amount of covid nineteen vaccine the will have by the end of next year is just about two billion dollars. In some vaccines actually are likely to require of course of dolls to work. So we're talking about nowhere near enough to cover even a minority, the world's population. So how much would be enough? How many those should countries be buying up at this stage? Just think that given the current mix of Seo game to the there is a ninety percent chance that there will be. Actually works. Now. There are several mechanisms that have been put together for countries to join forces and agree to a more equitable distribution also may end. Make much faster. So the World Health Organization has grown up guidelines of how that might look quite and according to these guidelines. The first supplies of covid nineteen vaccines should call to healthcare workers and social. Care Workers First. Then, the next batch should go to the fifteen or twenty percent of people in each country who are most vulnerable, most likely to from covid nineteen if they're infected. And then laces that are at the highest risk of outbreaks will we prioritized now whether these guidelines will be followed is a different story. It's unclear how many countries will sign up may have expressed interest, but nothing has been signed so far. So all told, what's your prognosis at this stage? Do you think the world will produce enough quantities of candidate vaccines and that they will be distributed in a way? That's even a little bit fair. Just likely that there won't be not vaccine to go around in the first year. Whether it will be distributed equitably depends on where the winning vaccine is made. If the vaccine is part of the portfolio, which is controlled by the global coalition backed up by the World Health Organization than we will see supply being distributed marsh equitably on the other hand if the vaccine turns out to be made in a country that doesn't want to share, it supplies before covering its own citizens. And it's a big country. We won't expect most of the world be covered equitably for a time. Now the solution perhaps is just to spend. More money on the current candidate vaccines, the Waza rating late stage clinical trials. Birth months to suicide My first wife took her life on Saint Patrick's Day a twenty one year later we met and And we've been picking up the pieces. This next couple has confronted death in their midst for the past six years disadvant- has been at the center of their family life over the now six years that I've been in their lives not survival mode. It has been the most hurt wrecking profound experience of weather my entire life. I they are now ready to live again. As a New Year's resolution the couple apple chose a word for themselves an espionage revive and I have a sense that Dick. She came to work with me so that together. They can transition from not dead to alive and from survival to revival this is where should we begin with Alistair Brown. She's not like anyone I've ever met. Which is why I knew I needed to get a ring pretty quick? I thought if I don't someone else's can sweep her off her feet when you say she's not like anyone you've ever meant well the depth the types the things that she that stir her her heart and her soul. It's refreshing. That's what drew me. Tour was her ability to go there to take you to take me there. It's caused some friction along the way because it's tough to learn when you haven't grown you to it doesn't come natural to you to me right. The two families and my stepmother was not particularly wonderful. Stepmother have Was Not a very nurturing person. And the understatement. Yes she she was. She wasn't a good person. You know She was very manipulative. She was verbally abusive and a couple times physically and then after they divorced. My Dad a had custody of me instead of my mom. So come The simple terms that I was told that I went with my dad was because she he wasn't ready to settle down and he was. There's a lot that's probably buried in that statement and and I haven't really wanted to know the why theme of children that are abandoned by their mother. uh-huh runs through generations fair Nice we have saying she wasn't ready to settle. Now you were and children you think were abandoned by their mother. Oh sure when she then by suicide absolutely. How do you think your experience with your mom translates leads into what goes on between you and your kids? vis-a-vis them I don't know that there was was a deep attachment with my mom. I might have got that up until the age of two but I don't remember that and then the stories I've heard with my step mom as as a three year old when she came into my life. My Aunt said she remembers seeing me. Try to crawl up and my stepmother's lap and you know pushing me away and so I had that being pushed away from her and then my mom just wasn't there for the first I know from age two to six probably so there's a gap there That I don't really remember much time with her. And we have two kinds of memory. We have explicit memory and implicit memory and explicit memories kind of conscious awareness of Thaksin but implicit awareness and implicit memory. Lives in our body and the body remembers the value remembers particularly when you try to get close to your wife. You connect those dots. You probably have. It's so clear. Same say more. I think that's the root of a lot is what happened with his mom and step mum the root of a lot of what disconnection between us for a while. I thought it was what happened. Happened with his former wife. But then the more I learned was kind of a like. Oh this isn't it just continued eared through her. He couldn't trust his own mother but the mother figure in his his stepmother so he built up a wall law.
