It marks the first time since nineteen forty, four that the world series will be played all at one site usually teams alternate between playing at home and on the road. But this year, the MLB wanted to cut down on the need to travel and allow players to stay in a so-called to bubble to avoid covid nineteen outbreak, and this will most likely be a neutral site. The Texas Rangers have one of the worst records in the league so they aren't expected to be playing in the world series.

Fresh update on "texas rangers" discussed on WEEI Show

"A year it's been for the box scores. It's been a honestly it's just a couple of months. 60 games, met with a lot of skepticism by some some of the biggest names in baseball analysts believing that there was no way they could pull this off. See, Jana Kowski was a part of it all. As this season like no other went down with the Texas Rangers and more and he joins us from MLB Network Radio. C J. First of all, How are you doing? How's the family? How did you get through covert? Appreciate. I'm good. Everything was fine. I got very lucky at a very mild case. It cost me unfortunately calling the last seven games that I had on my schedule but some mild symptoms for me and very fortunate. You know, I heard a lot of stories. A lot of people reached out after I had tested positive in their life. Yeah, I heard some pretty amazing stories even from some young, healthy people. So I think I got lucky. I mean, I'm not amount of Royal. Ah, virologist wherever it is that these guys do and tell you about what strain is which, but I felt like potentially maybe I got a pretty light straight. I was a little bit a key for a day. I still wanted to quarantine and everything else, but I felt like I could have kept working. But you gotta follow those rules. They have got to do it. So tell me, though, I'm sure you plopped your backside in front of a television. I'm sure you worked out a little and you just watched baseball 24 7. For the most part, I felt like I was in prison with the television pushups in my room, everything else and watching as much based on then, during the day, I think I was watching a ton of Chicago P D. Are you? What? Chicago P d now That was thie. Okay, That's the one on NBC. I got yes, it was on Yusa. So these were older ones. Yeah. This is like no General hospital for you. No, no, no, I'm not a robot. No young and the restless did know. Couldn't that would increase you want Chicago P. D. I know. But if opera I guess it's a soap opera with a little more action, and I think a little better at not much, but you haven't seen the There's a lot of action in Port Charles. Yeah, I kind of action. That kind of action, I think would interest you until I don't know. I'm just going to tell you, C J Tell me this, though. 60 games, it's there. There. Send in 16 teams to the postseason. Yeah. Do you believe the top seeds? Are very vulnerable, potentially vulnerable because of this crazy best of three type situation. I think a lot of them are vulnerable, and I think that's what's going to make this telly who you see. Exciting. Why would tell you whoever has to play? It depends. You have to play which we still don't know yet, right? So whoever whoever has to play the Cincinnati Reds, the Reds are going to be a low C right. They're going to assume they get AIDS right now. Yeah, And that could change. But right now it's the Braves on DH. So the idea like if they end up losing some of these other teams when they're sober tiebreaker scenarios, it's difficult to go through them all. But whoever has to play the Reds right now, because Luis Castillo was pitching like the Scion Canada. We thought he should have been the sheer. He ended up not being that guy, but he what he has been lately. Trevor Bowers. Real good, Sunny Graves really good. So you talk about three starters have been in a three game. Siri's That could be a problem. Now. The praise as an example of the one team that could slug is good as anybody in this league and so that lineup runs deep. And so maybe it's a braised fan. You wouldn't be as concerned, but it would still be bothering you. Especially think about what happened last year and losing to the ST Louis Cardinals. So they're a team that's vulnerable or any team that has to play the Reds or anything that has to play. The Indians are going to be vulnerable because of the depth of their starting pitching. In a short season. I would say a team like the Oakland A's right now who have played some really good baseball and one that division relatively easily just got swept yesterday in a double header by the Seattle marriage. They're a good team, but you look up and down the lineup and there's nobody. It's jumping off the page that you're saying, man, we got a void this guy this guy has been crushed the legal year. Then there's a handful that going on right now, I would say almost every body is vulnerable in the first round. Maybe the Dodgers with one team that you feel best about. Are you a believer that in like, like if I was to ask you 10 years ago. Do you believe that if I said to you, Hey, do you want superior starting pitching or a superior bullpen? Has your opinion changed in the last 10 years. That's a good question. I think I'd still take this. If you're talking about superior, then I was like top 45 in all baseball. Yeah, If I run deep enough, I probably want the rotation even though what's going to be difficult? No days off this post season will make that kind of tricks. You're do that. I think it makes no sense, though, in't it I have to think it was TV like TV probably had a lot of influence here. I'm shocked that we don't have any game schedule. There's a weekend in there. We don't have any game schedule, right? If you can avoid going up against college football, Nana fell. You try to the best that you possibly can in the postseason. That's happened year in and year out. Now, Sometimes you just have to pick your poison. You want to go up against Sunday Night football or Monday night football, especially during the world. Siri's. It's hard to avoid on so you have to wear it for one of those on hope that you have the better match up. And maybe there's a weak football matchup. But television as I think has a lot to do with it. They have the entire time. I thought, you know what Listen, you've given them or games. Maybe we could get some off days. But that's not the way that it went down. So that's the part that's going affected. This year was the general of starters. I talked to Jeff Frank or about it when the schedule came out, and I said And nationally nationally division Siri's American League Division series five games in five days. If you have to play all five, so that changes your your top starting pitcher can come back in Game five on three days rest. I mean, this totally changes the dynamic and I wonder if teams like the Braves and some others that have superior bullpens. If they can get to that five games, Siri's may find themselves at a huge advantage could be depends on how much they have to use Those guys like I'm concerned for the Braves, and how much did they have to push that bullpen? And what are you doing? Our guy's going to throw your top arms three days in a row. And then what do they look like on that Third day is going to be probably something that comes into play for a team that's going to rely heavier on their bullpen. Then they will. They're starting rotation. I think the Yankees are probably in That same situation. The Oakland A's are in that very similar situation, and they run deep, and that's why it's important to run deep. But when you think about last year in the way that the nationals did it, relying so heavily on their starting rotation, a couple of guys showing up in the bullpen out of nowhere that's why I have a tendency to lean rotation. But over the course of a regular season, there's something about Listen, if you can't have that rotation that build that bullpen, we've seen that work a CZ well, so I think you can do it both ways. I don't know if one way over the other because here's the thing with the starter right at the start. It doesn't have it that day. That game's pretty much done. Where if the reliever doesn't have it that day, you get him out of there and you go to another one. Right where you can't do that with the starter. So I guess if you're sitting there, especially in this scenario is a tough one for me. But when I rather be the Cleveland Indians, or what I rather be the Oakland A's right are the New York Yankees with their bet with their better bullpens, and that and obviously the Indians offense hasn't been very good. Is your better this year, But I'd be tempted with the depth of that rotation to pick a team like Cincinnati, Cleveland. I'm wondering what with C J. Nitkowski from MLB Network radio. Joining us here, John Kincaid show CBS Sports Radio What Baseball will keep From the pandemic season and what they will get rid of for 2021..

The National Anthem in Sports: What's Next?

"If you got an a time machine four years ago and set it for twenty twenty, your eyes would get wide for all kinds of reasons and the site of full teams superstars kneeling during the anthem with support from their coaches and owners and leaks. That would be one of the most startling. Players coaches. Game officials alike, all taking me in Orlando, our full moment before the game during the national anthem all of the players wearing black lives matter shirts most of them taking a knee including Naperville Central Alum Casey short and team made Julia. Earth's clearly emotions running high for both of them in that moment with a moment of silence here and respect pre-game in support of social justice seventeen different Texas rangers players took a knee during that moment including meadow door Robinson. Torino's NFL is kicking off tonight and whether you cosigned the venue of his protest or not Colin Kaepernick did prove something that both sides of the aisle can agree up. There is no ritual more sacred in American sports than the. Star spangled banner. It would be crazy to underestimate how it makes us feel. Fans as citizens on all kinds of levels, and if you're a musician performing the anthem, I'm testing the microphone check one, two, your the one who channels almost emotions and identities in that pregnant moment. Can you hear that John Batiste is from New Orleans. Say Julia. Grad. Who among many hats leads the band for the late show with Stephen Colbert. His latest take on the national anthem played before the first game of the NBA Restart in Orlando back in July. When players took the court amid questions of how they keep the focus on social justice from inside the bubble. Tonight's presentation of the national anthem has been recorded by musician producer activist and Louisiana Native John Booties. This great to be here. Thank you for having me. So I wanna know what went through your mind when you're contemplating how to perform this particular song at this particular moment. What did it mean to have this opportunity to remotely address this community amid a broader social movement in our country? Asking these questions of how we fit into society and what? Society owes us in what society continues to maintain the status quo have been questions that I've been wrestling with prior to. All of the social unrest that we're seeing. Wrestling with these questions in dealing with the dice, sport influences of black music and really chronicling my own personal experiences, a black man in America and as a musician from the south, and you know this this moment presented itself. And it really felt organic to step into it. The anthem really being this combination, this historical document if you will in our country. There's also there seems to be a flavor of like to my on educated yearly southern rap kind of feeling the beats that you put in there. There's the orchestra sound of drums. There's maybe some Hendrix. So I just want you to clarify what went into your arrangement. Era Pablo you heard a lot. So many strains of the black American experience. Me Bay from the south ahead of bounce being. That is something that I grew up here in all over the streets in New Orleans. I. Picked up the Guitar Midway through with this kind of nod to Jimi. Jimi Hendrix version from. Woodstock The Blues Music which came from sharecroppers and slaves that then evolved into rock and roll and RB. Adding that to the anthem with the classical timpanist and the cello being the counter line to what I was playing on the piano. Gives it this epic quality that I feel? I ask for a deserves. If. They were musicians. What kind of activism would my heroes portray in a moment like this o'hare? And Counter John Lewis. Out Gradually, but we wanted to be free now. mlk My poor little children. Will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of skin but by the content of character, I have a dream. Now, John Is there a particular rendition of the song throughout history that resonates with you. is so many but you have to pick Whitney. You know come on man. Yes. This was at ninety one super bowl at the beginning of the first. Gulf War. In ESPN history of that performance says the NFL wanted Whitney's version sped up and re recorded but. Whitney said No. WIT WITH KNEE HOUSTON. Sings the anthem the way that it should be saw. Law. John I gotta say the Marvin Gaye Nineteen Eighty three NBA all star game anthem that is the one song I have played at a party and people weren't immediately sure what it was, but they were down man it took like maybe ten seconds you realize wait a minute this is the star spangled better I-. Marvins version of the anthem shows you. that. You know. I will culture and tradition to make lemonade. You. Could take something and you could filter it through the black. Experience. And what comes out on other side is just as soulful and is refreshing and as completely dope as anything.

"You need. If you're not figuring something out, or if you don't know that. Ah, if you're not capable of safety, you're not capable of doing one thing that they want to do. Maybe they find something else. You can help this team win the I think Carol's one of those guys You can usually see. Ah, what he's done with it. You know, you look at the Any number of some of these. Some of these young guys are very impressed with the guy that the got a good relationship with his players and on DH. I think that's even more important. It has been in the past. You know, these guys want to know that they're on the same page. You used to be the coach. You know, on the Ah, the Mar Olympus of what's going on. And then there's the players and other assistant coach and now these guys don't want to feel like a team and and I get it from the young coaches. Understand that and appreciate it, and you see a trend towards young coaches in the NFL. And I think that's the response to Ah to some of the young guys in the league now or someone got weak now they they want to know that the coach isn't just some guy. Ah, handing out Ah assignment three coaches in the process with them, and sometimes it helps to have a younger guy there. You know, I still like the coach with a lot of experience Sandy retyped guy, but but you can see how it's probably smart idea. These guys A different breed of players. That was 25 years ago. "Here's Peter. It's 33 minutes after the hour Peter Greenberg here with his eye on travel returns on this last weekend of September. 2021, speaking to Jonathan Tisch, the chairman and CEO of Lows Corporation. John. They were just talking about. You know some of the big picture items here because we know that it's going to come back. We just don't know when or how really, but take a look at the airline situation. We're now up against a deadline, where in just just a few days. The the provisions of the cares Act, which required the airlines to keep everybody on payroll and fly their normal root system. Those expire. And so you have about 100,000 employees of the of the airlines that have already been given notice that they they face furlough. The airlines have already given notice themselves to the Department of Transportation and then forced to us. I'm going to drop as many as 90 cities from their root network. And they're asking for more federal aid to get them through March on, As you know, Historically, airline bankruptcies usually happen. This is pre pandemic in December and January were these airline just can't have enough capital to make it through the second quarter. Don't the hotel's find themselves in the same same ballpark. And can you get some federal aid here? Well, we certainly have. Work through our industry organizations that the U. S Travel Association and American Hotel and Lodging Association to discuss these ideas. You just mentioned as they relate to the airline, similar pine of relief for hotels that the airline Early on in the pandemic. Horrible he received some aid that got into today or tomorrow or the next day, as you noted in the hotel industry, because it's much more about individual property Small only Yes, you've got the big guy as we discussed, but they're there. They turn these reservation fee's marketing. He's interesting, and they don't on real estate. So it's very hard to be other than pee Pee pee. Very hard. He come up with a way Tio help lodging industry across the board with some part of the carriage back now in individual jurisdictions, Maybe you could Come up with something that works, uh, some local relief but it but it's hard and that's why to go back to our original conversation, the possibility of foreclosure or people losing their hotel Israel. That is a furious challenge that people in our industry we're facing that And then when you look in certain destination if you look at the Yes, our resort In places like Tucson, Arizona. Loes Coronado Bay Resort in San Diego Resorts are getting inundated with on the weekends, but you will know within from people getting in their cars and driving. And attend to have been in the warmer months. Obviously, it's getting colder now. That would be if that continues, so there is a bit of business out there, but it's a real challenge right now. And there are some things that we asked for. In terms of government aid. Maybe a tax credit for you to travel increase the amount of the business meals production, so there is something that our industry have discussed with our elected officials. But right now it doesn't appear that there's going to be any relief for the foreseeable future. It's going to be very, very tough on the travel industry. So what you're saying then? Based on that 34% delinquency rate, just even here in New York is we will see some more hotels close and never reopen. Absolutely you will. And you mentioned the large numbers of our team members that are furloughed on the maps are separated from various organizations. We've been travel that's really tough. At Loew's hotels. We had pre pandemic about 11,000 team members. We still have some of our value women and men that aren't leave of absence. But we have to also be respectful of our revenue sources where we see business going in the fourth quarter of this year in the first half of next year. On and we have to come up with a business model that may extend for the times that we live in and the revenue expectations that we have On it difficult, but this is where we find ourselves in and the frustrating aspect again. And believe me, we see this in so many areas of our time and so many segments Of the towns and the cities that we live in. Nobody did anything wrong. The travel industry wass vibrant, it was strong was still creating job. In New York City. We were hopeful in 2020 for our 11th straight year of increased in annual visit, the projection was for 67 million visitors in 2020. You look at some of the properties that we have in destination like Orlando, where we have our joint venture with Comcast, NBC Universal eight Hotel nine guys in room. And when you think about two hotels that we opened recently with baseball teams, there's our partner live Bilos. Arlington, Texas With Texas Rangers burner live by locating Louis with the same Louis Cardinals as our partner. With our 27 property, So it's going to be difficult, but we will get we will get through this. We will depend on the men and women who are the backbone of our organization. To offer the services that we are known for, and so many in the lodging industry are so good at what John hold on. Hold on to that thought. One more second, cause we're going to take another.

The Secret History of the Korean Bat Flip

"Icl Insane power right now. I don't know how I feel about this. Meantime, is a senior writer for ESPN and NFL analyst on NFL live and yeah, the former host of this podcast. I am the captain. Now you will feel how I want you to feel I think is how this works. People can't see this, but Kabul was doing the thing where he points his fingers at his eyes and then he's pointing them at my eyes and it's very upsetting. So. How did the story which I love so much actually come about what was I think the spring early summer of twenty sixteen, which is important because we are coming off of the two thousand, fifteen mlb playoffs where as I'm sure you will remember Joey Batista flipped his bat which feels almost like I'm understanding what he did after an home run in the Al. Ds. I was between the Blue Jays and the Texas Rangers, and there were much hand wringing and commentary and debate as a result of that critics called the BAP slip disrespectful not only to the opposing pitcher button. The game in general were a player. I wouldn't do that. The fact of the matter is what he did did not offend you just don't sit there and flip your bad especially in the seventh inning but throughout this time, and before that, there were these videos of backflips coming from Korea right where. Korean baseball players were flipping their bats as defiantly as Batista and with great joy and style and panache, and these videos had gone viral in social media. Turk. Looking, looking into it a little bit. There's a there was an account on twitter website called Mike Abo run by a Korean American guy named Dan Kurtz, and so he was sending them out and then they go viral. Asked him kind of how he got into it? He used to live in Korea he was huge. Fan Korean based organization. But then I asked him. Okay. So why why are they? So Common Korea is this normal there why our guys not getting drilled in the head and he didn't know and I was super intrigued by that. So I got in touch with another Korean baseball expert, a commentator for the Daniel Kim who is based in Korea, and he had so many great stories about backflips and what they meant there in how they were so common but he also didn't know why or where it started and he told me you should just come here and figure it out. So that's what I did. So, you actually go to Korea and this I. Remember I, remember it sounding like one of the great expense report boondoggles ever. But you actually go to Korea with Mickey and your story begins in in Bussan right and so what do you actually find when you travel across the ocean and get there So we went to Poussin, which is a extremely large seaside city on the southern tip of South Korea. So they have a very popular team, the low tech giants, and the first thing we do is we go to a game at stadium and. It was revelatory.

SF Giants Off to Successful Season Start

"It's a new world of Giants baseball. And frankly, it's been a very good week for the Giants and a continued last night as the Giants beat the Texas Rangers 7 to 3. It was a close game for a while. Look like it was going to be 4 to 2 of 5 to 2. And then the things happen a little bit later. And the Giants ended up winning the game 7 to 3 over the Texas Rangers for the Giants. After that, 1st 2 games down in L. A Things are much better for them. 43 runs scored for the Giants. They've given up 50 so they have a run differential of minus seven. But you start the season might is 15 after a couple of games and you see they have whittled that down. But for the Giants last night against Texas was men and boys, really the Texas pitching staff 11 walks And a hit batter for the Texas pitching staff. Last night, Jordan Lyles was all over the place and helped the Giants tremendously with all the walks that he gave up, and for the Giants, they took advantage of it, and it was really nice to see A ball club that is doing something offensively and To those of us who've watched Giants baseball for so long. You know, that offense has always been somewhat of a question for the Giants over these last 10 or 11 years of tremendous results with great pitching. But the offense has always been a question. Now. All of a sudden the offense is leading the way and the pitching is doing fine. You know, Drew Smyly last night. We'll talk about the game. But you, smiley I ended up going four innings than leaving the game with the discomfort of the index finger. So that means a trip to a Dr Scott Hampson. I'm sure and two of the hand therapists, Nancy And I know them both very well. And he's going for an M R I on that index finger, so ligament issue or something like that. But Smiley did go four innings last night for the Giants and continue that streak of no starting pitcher going five innings. For the Giants, and that's the longest streak in the history of Major league baseball. So today they look to Jeffs a margin to try to break that. See if he can give him five good innings today. But continuing with last night, 52 at our be eyes. For the Giants to out and they got the hit to drive in a run three for 10 with runners in scoring position,

It is a very striking photo and. Given! What's going on today? It it really has. Some residents and we're going back again to nineteen fifty seven as long way back, but it's. It's still echoes today. How did Sergeant banks treat others on the scene in advance like like journalists for example I mean this was. This was a noteworthy event. If a reports came around and start asking uncomfortable questions, banks removed them. Sometimes as he said with the aid of a Rangers boot, or he would threaten them with the rest, or you would tell them. He was going to take their cameras and expose their film. He was not friendly to. to journalists who were working at one point, a priest showed up and try to talk to the crowd about loving one's neighbor and banks escorted him from the scene. He didn't have to kick him, but he did escort in from the scene. I mean backs wasn't putting up with a nonsense. At these places he became. Good friends with The White Citizens Council which is. Pro Segregationist Group. Call across the south, but they had a branch and Texarkana. When it was all done the the White Citizens Council was so happy with ranger banks. They gave him a chicken dinner. know it's not so remarkable for local law enforcement to support segregationists in the south in the nineteen fifties. It is kind of remarkable. How sergeant banks actions as arranger were remembered and described in later media accounts. Tell us about that. was presented as a hero and. Was for these actions. Yes, it was. Again and again he was described in media reports as the man who. Kept the mobs under control, and and her kept the scene pacified and. helped. BRING PEACE TO A. Volatile situation well, the way he did that was as I, said Threatened to arrest. Any black students showed up and. Tried to enroll. There's an interesting postscript to this. That is very very recent. This involves statue of Sergeant banks which has stood for many years in love field, which is one of two airports in Dallas. What's tell us about this? Statue was Sculpted in the late nineteen fifties nineteen fifty-nine somewhere in there. A local businessman, a man who ran a chain of Cafeterias WanNa to have a statue, commemorating the Rangers, and as I said it's. J banks was a very handsome guy. He looked like ranger, and so the the sculptor used him as the model. It's stands about twelve feet high on its base. Lovely brass statue, and for many many many years it has. Has has stood in the lobby of love field, and for passengers, disembarking and coming down the steps into the into the main lobby. That's what the first thing they see is. Is this big statue of J banks? Now that the book is out, the city of Dallas has decided that this statue was going to be removed and I think they are removing as we speak. And what what happens to it? I don't know where it goes I. Don't know, but. The discussion has started. Doug Swanson is a veteran, investigative reporter and editor. His new book is cu-ltive. Enforcement Agency widely celebrated in TV and film, which discovers has a little known history of abusive conduct and racial and ethnic oppression. History of the Texas Rangers is called Glory. The Rangers had quite a history with Texas in WCTC didn't? Do factor to back in nineteen. Nineteen, which is known as the red summer across the country for all the. LYNCHINGS and racial incidents. And there was one in Longview Texas in East Texas. Nearly collapsed in a race war. So. The Rangers decided they had to do something about that. They were they were very concerned about. Racial outbreaks in Texas. But what they decided to do was forced the ACP at a Texas so again on the governor's orders they began meeting with. Police chiefs and sheriffs across the State Trying to figure out ways to infiltrate NAACP meetings, to. Stop Black oriented newspapers from coming in to Texas. They would talk to the post masters if you see entities papers like the Chicago defender and others tear them up. Don't deliver them. They talk to gun stores and told him don't sell any guns. Legally! To black people. Hand then they tried to break up the meetings where. They warned black people were trying to. figure out ways to get their rights. That was a bad thing back in one, thousand, nine, thousand, nine, hundred Texas as far as the Rangers were concerned. What was the impact on the EP? Well eventually. They were forced out of the state. This happened after the. Desegregation efforts of the nineteen fifties. The state itself the. Attorney, general and other powerful members of the state. TOOK THE NAACP to court and had them. For a while thrown out of Texas. They were seen as an illegal operation and the state of Texas. The ranger again were part of that, but just a small part. This goes back to the general theme which is. Yes there were heroic rangers. Yes, they'd done many. Good things, but they have acted throughout their history has the force of the White Tower structure and the state that's that's been their role and large part. I want to talk about the Rangers. Role in a farmworker strike in the Rio, Grande Valley in the nineteen sixties, but before we get to that, tell me just a little bit about the rangers his way of dealing with. Labor disputes. Well the Rangers have been as I, said the agents of the government, so if the government thought a strike needed to be broken, they often sin in the Rangers They broke up railroad strikes. They broke up Longshoremen strikes even broke up a cowboy strike up in panhandle. Longtime ago, so they had a long history as strikebreakers even before they got the farmworkers. Down South Texas in nineteen, sixty seven. I want to talk about this armor strike in the Rio Grande Valley. A key figure for the Rangers was a captain named a Y. Alley. He and before we talk about what happened in the strike. Just give us a thumbnail description of him and his style. Captain Allie was a beloved captain by his men. He would always go.

"Overview Jeff Wilson at the Fort Worth Star-Telegram steps in the batter's box talk all things Texas Rangers with us top to bottom free agents, the rotation the lineup upcoming prospects and pretty much anything to do with this team. Just a heads up. This was recorded about a month ago. We didn't have the news on math is Teresa's or even Woodyard. So just keep that in mind while listening all the other news is up today. And enjoy are going over the Texas Rangers the. Interesting team that they are down there. They had some really good years and recently, some really bad years some great players and some not so memorable players. We're going to start off with catchers there's four under contract. But I don't see any of them making the future. What do you think is the plan for catcher long-term for the Rangers? Long-term? I think Jose Trevino's the guy. That's that's me personally. He's a defensive wizard. He's won the she won't win it this year. But he'd won the past two minor league goals glows at catcher mean he's really really good mind. The plate easy came up for a low weekend at a pitch the season. And he did. Okay. I think that the defense is what you want from the catchy position, which it is. He's going to be the guy. Well, that's good. I I agree. I think I think there's two specific positions in baseball. You can throw away the offense category at center field. And and it's it's mind the plate. I think that they're both. You know, you need a good defense in there. And I think that a guy like him with fits he's I think twenty six years old if I remember Jose, tribunal Trevino's and his mid twenties. He went to it went to Robertson. Here's an infielder there. So yeah, it's taken a little while. But he's he's pretty good. Yeah. Like that will calm you can to that. And even if it doesn't of Barry good defensive catcher hard to come by. You look important is in the playoffs this year. And you know, he'll contract will be on the next two years. Then his are. So that makes sense. I'm assuming the other guys just kind of filler guys from now. And you know, that's okay. So you need that on a team. That's rebuilding. They're trying to transition into catcher he's got a lot of work to do in my dating. And then. A couple of guys who are thinking in class days that are figures way. But I think like I said, I just I look at Trevino's defense and how hard he works. And I think that the best gonna come around enough to to wear he won't be ally ability he'll deal to catch in and. I don't wanna say a florist that the pretty pretty steady guy for the pitching staff to throw to he's going to be in my opinion. What Jason Castro win healthy is a Minnesota. He's just a wall behind the plate. And he's gonna hit every now. And then, but that's what you need. Honestly. Whether it's a guys like, sandy, Leo not. Everybody's gonna be Joe Mauer. Buster Posey mean those guys are once in a duration players. Right. And then giving the two guys decided they just don't last very long. So exactly how to take what you can get. All right. Let's move to first base. There's actually only one first basement under contract, and that's Ronald Guzman. He's under team control. Anything have control them for the next four. Maybe even more than that years. What's your opinions on Guzman? Does it need do the Rangers need to get another first basement, which I don't think they do. I think is just fine. And he's only going to get better with age. Yeah. I think he's going to be under control for while. I think you probably five more years. But yeah, I I think they'll get a I think they'll go get a right handed hitting first baseman someone. They can you know against. Put it in the vix gift give us Minna break. He didn't have a great offense of season. It didn't pretty I think you got about forty the finished year, but showed more power that he's ever shown before. And the Keefer him is he can't he can't be monkeying around with a swing. He apparently this year did a lot of a lot of that..

"Home, ballpark of the Texas Rangers. There are conditioning weight training drills that are new to the Chinese players. Again, why. A look, trying China is way behind us baseball. They're way behind us in basketball, but in both of these sports, we bring them over here and train them and give them our professionals and give them our facilities and let them play against our competition to make them better. So then we send them back home to compete against us in international competitions and potentially beat us one day. We did the same thing with basketball and eventually got to the point where they started beating us where they're professionals, started beating our collegians. And so we got a little pissed and then we went to the NBA got the dream team and that kind of restored order for a while. But now it's gotten to the point where we've done so much training and so much for these international players that they're on a par now with American basketball, some of them, some of the best teams could actually some of the best players for sure can compete in the NBA and they do. That's why there's so many international players in the NBA now because we've been training we've been working with, we've been helping them. We've been funding them why we do it in swimming. We do in basketball. We do it in baseball. We do it in track and field. We, we do it in volleyball. We'd better not be doing it in curling. We are the gold medal champs, and we'd better stay that way or else. I'm going to start getting angry. I don't know, curling his such a dumb game that I don't know that there's much to actually becoming good at curling..

"I said who are they who the hell are the texas rangers well over the past century two competing images of the texas rangers have emerged both in scholarly studies and in popular thought there's the cartoon ashley brave an honorable version presented by professor walter prescott web of the university of texas nineteen 35 i presented an image of men who were quite deliberate righteous men who could be gentle unkind men who can also gays calmly into the eye of a murderer divine his thoughts anticipate is action and ride straight up to death men who knew no fear and called on unlimited reserves of courage yeah just regular nights and shining armor and then beginning in the 1960s revisionist scholars drew a darkly contrasting portrait they depicted a brutal lawless ranger one who as a soldier indiscriminately dehumanized and slaughter native americans and mexicans like a ruthless laumann who systematically practised late of wagha law of the fugitive in which prisoners were routinely shot while supposedly trying to escape hard cold racist men who shot first and ask questions later so who were they were they the preposterously virtuous heroes who inspired hollywoodproduced loan ranger tv series that ran from 1949 knife near fifty seven the 1989 lonesome dove mini series so my dad's favorite hours of television by the way were the men who inspired chuck norris has walker texas rangers ran for eight seasons from ninety three two thousand one and somehow managed a did manage to produce one memorable quotable line over 9000 television minutes f programming you don't hate but can't remember what exactly watched half an hour after watching it impressive in weird way or were the villains more came to the warden character and paul newman's cool hand luke you notice.
