"Welcome back this is the Ben Shapiro show self incumbent land there's some bad news out of Texas the Texas court of ours hospitalizations did surge eleven percent yesterday now it is kind of incredible that the media refusing to report on for example Oregon my Oregon is actually a pretty significant surgeon covered no one cares because organised governed by Democrats the way this works is that Abbott is bad and the sense is bad in Florida but Oregon never heard of it didn't even know it was a state of percentage base is the biggest search is actually not in Texas Arizona or Florida on percentage basis the biggest surge is in Oregon but again this is along the lines of Florida's bad free opening Colorado never heard of it because it's governed by Democrats in any case according to CNBC there are two thousand seven hundred ninety three patients hospitalized with coded in the state I'm from a two thousand five hundred eighteen patients reported on Tuesday according to updated data from the Texas department state health services total Wednesday March the eighth new high in the state in less than two weeks Texas coronavirus hospitalizations are now up more than eighty four percent since Memorial Day as the state continues to reopen now this is all predictable right I mean it is obvious that as you let more people out there will be a rising called it presumably there'll be a rising hospitalization the question always and forever was would overwhelm the healthcare system it is worth noting by the way I don't know point was New York ever fully overwhelmed New York is eighty nine percent available I see that they do not use one hundred and seven percent of available I see that and your thought just slam Texas is not in danger of being slammed it right now the shortage vice you bet Greg Abbott the governor says there's been an increase in reported cover nineteen since Memorial Day increase is likely due to people who didn't follow recommended social distancing practices is also some this is the state expanding testing obviously John Heller stat is the commissioner of the Texas department of state health services said Tuesday that residents believe is not important to continue practicing recommended health precautions and nothing could be further from the truth he said you have to continue wearing face coverings and washing your hands and maintaining a distance is it a possibility things could flare up again to produce a resurgence of called in nineteen it would be a stress on our healthcare system is still very real and that is real but again this was not meant like the the social distancing and all of us we were never getting rid of Comey there's no vaccine what can you do in daily life and also not overwhelm the healthcare system is a good piece from the editorial board of the Wall Street journal talking about all of this and pointing out that instead of looking at models we should instead look at actual ICU bed usage it was rituals as warnings about reopening states are also overblown so far well Arizona has had an up tick in hospitalizations about fifty nine percent of its emergency beds in seventeen percent of ICU beds are in use a month ago forty three percent of hospitalized patients have called it when the ice you know only a third are suggesting that earlier treatment is using disease severity which would help I mean there's all the studies that using a very common steroid reducing the symptoms of call that in Texas hospitalizations have also been climbing a weekly fatalities are down forty percent from a month ago nineteen patients occupy fewer than five percent of our hospital beds more than a quarter available even in Houston which experienced a big spike covered nineteen patients occupy only six percent of hospital beds more than twenty percent are unused okay nineteen patients take a small share of eyes you beds in most states that have been re opening including California sixteen percent Texas eleven percent Georgia ten percent Utah nine percent Wisconsin eight percent in Florida seven percent nearly all states have ample hospital and ICU capacity in LA I see what you do is Asians actually fallen by about fifteen percent in the last month even Gavin Newsom the governor of California said we have to recognize you can't get a permanent state where people are locked away for months and months and months on end he lives and livelihood completely destroyed he sounds just like me but only after six weeks right only after two months of this three months of this the models in wrong on this stuff consistently particularly ice you bad usage on the rise many originally suggested that New York would need a hundred forty thousand hospital beds and forty thousand ICU units it turns out that they actually required eighteen thousand eight hundred twenty five hospital beds and five thousand I see you unit they're only off by a factor of eight what's the house have been basically wrong but then you should stop being careful of course you should continue to be careful I am amused however I will say I am very much amused by the media coverage of the stuff because it is insane insane for example it was a disaster Andrew Cuomo Mr what wasn't covered patients to senior centers what we did that he defended that last night on ABC news do you regret now with the information you have now not shutting down New York earlier well we didn't have the information that do you feel responsible for the new Yorkers who died in this pandemic I think the risk new Yorkers who died did not die because.
