Ilyse Hogue, President of NARAL Pro-Choice America, discusses new book "The Lie That Binds"

"I'm Jim Taylor skinner, and this is the electorate on this episode, have a conversation with the hogue, the president of Nero Pro, choice America, and he joins me to discuss her new book. The lie that binds it's really an incredible book and it chronicles how abortion rights of all from being a non-partisan backburner issue to a central 'cause champion by conservatives in the radical, right. This is really one of those books that I have to read twice. It's that informative. So without further ADO, here's my conversation with Elise. Hogue. leasehold welcome to the cast. Thank you so much. You're. So before we jump into your book, I want us to talk about something because I recently learned that you were from Texas and that really my inches because I'm also from the South I'm from Memphis Tennessee, and I was reading one of your interviews where you'd said that you wanted to leave Texas because Uber afraid that you'd be bored and that was something like totally relate to. Manila it was sort of. Knew that there was a being rolled out there and I wanted to. It be challenged in You don't both my own horizons, but also different people different people think and act and. I am so privileged grateful to have been able to do that. You know I have to admit, and you may relate to this as being from a have A. Of defensiveness when it comes to people bashing Texas, they're such amazing people. They're they're such amazing within their and during such good work, and you can't judge inspired leaders. You have to judge us by Jordan Molly ivins in grammar yards and Janice Joplin for goodness. Sake. Now. There's just and that's true everywhere where there's adversity, there are amazing women trying to make a better future to Tennessee. It's true taxes in needs recognized. That is absolutely true. I FEEL DEFENSIVE ABOUT MEMPHIS TO MEMPHIS. Amazing. You know have Bill Street. Yeah. There's some things that I wanted to get to and that's where I connected with you because I was like, yes, I understand that needs to escape. But yet you know having these strong ties to my hometown It's. US You know and I always say at in calm from a reproductive rights background at came to it, and part of that is my experience in Texas in watching Texans in particularly poor people in taxes in rural people in Texas I'm being the canaries in coalmines of these rearrested policies that use reproductive oppression disenfranchise. So I really love this book because I've read some bit of this history in different books over time, and you just put it together into end. So well, right and I. I think one of the things about the Republican. Party. That happens I think we have these debates in the media when people talk about it as we just accept the Republican. Party. As is right without kind of thinking about how they got here or the illogic of their kind of overarching philosophy because a lot of it doesn't really make sense. Right. But you know when you read your book, the Republican Party today is not the way that it used to be like it's not recognisable from. Prior, to nineteen seventy right you at one Haley. How they kind of cobbled together this coalition of these disaffected smaller groups. You know these Democrats, who weren't happy with the passage of the Civil Rights Act and know some religious groups. So what were some of these initial groups in that coalition? Awkward it was a little bit. The opposite, right that every every political party has factions. There's no question about it, but you know as as the sort of book opens, you do see Jerry Falwell senior, who, subsequently passed and Paul and at small set a really fundamental as they call themselves dominion. It S, which means they believe God gave digging into white men over systems, elliptical, economic social systems, and. Our. Country, whereas before they had to do very much Mansi in short all the sudden is rich move mad. The Women's Liberation Movement is really challenging total control over power systems in the country and they mobilized to political action fighting school desegregation and. It's a long long story. You see throughout the book is that. An establishment GOP, which you still have any conservatives who still had social liberals in fiscal conservatives, they were not finding enough to hang together in related. People who hadn't been voting band goals were building over ten. Maybe we should add up and there was crew rate and they got more and more halt on a constituency within their electoral coalition that increasingly represented a small small action in the country in their views and they. Title, they were making deals with the devil and they. You know what? If anything can prince is that the artifice around abortion which seemed great to that at the time and I'm sure we'll discuss. Because one place where were toweling. Stream minority and they knew they didn't have public pain on their side. So it was a constant balancing act and what ended up happening is these radicals increasingly over to the party with each subsequent election, and trump is the ultimate manifestation of that.

"For coffee lovers today's mystery. Well, this industry Gabi Crockett on March six. Eighteen thirty six Mexican forces stormed the Alamo afford I like old mission in San Antonio where some two hundred rebellious Texans had been holed up for weeks, the battle was over in less than two hours leaving. Great. Texas heroes like Jim Buoy, James Butler Bonham, and William Travis dead among the defenders that day was Davy Crockett former congressman legendary hundred scowl, and teller of tall tales according to sell accounts Crockett died in. A battle that according to others. He was one of a handful of men captured and later executed what really happened while there's the battle and Aaron Lace, the myth and mystery. But exactly who was Davy Crockett he was born in Tennessee. Eight seven, hundred, eighty, six as a young man he was indentured by his father to pay off debts once they were paid in full he was finally allowed to leave home. Although he was voted into Congress, no one knows where he was educated yet he was articulate understood politics and could play the fiddle Crockett's true claim to fame prior to his death at or around. The Alamo was just a hunter in his youth tessie was still a wilderness out one time. He supplied food through skills of hunting for an entire army. While in Congress, he opposed add Jackson's argument to relocate local Indians. Congress. Crockett became a freemason. He spent time in his entire legislative career fighting for the rights of impoverished settlers who felt dangled on the precipice of losing title to their land. Due to the states complicated system of grants. He introduced a resolution to abolish the United States Military Academy at West. Point. New. York because he felt that it was public money going to benefit the sons of wealthy men. He spoke out against Congress giving a hundred thousand dollars to the widow of Stephen Decatur citing the congress was not. Empowered to do that, he opposed Andrew Jackson Eighteen thirty Indian removal act and was the only member of the Tennessee delegation to vote against it. Chief John Ross, sent him a letter on January thirteenth eighteen, thirty one expressing his thanks for Crockett's vote is what was not popular with his own district and he was defeated in the eighteen thirty one election by William, Fitzgerald and here's a quote. Femicide and the Forgotten Women of Juarez with Oz Woloshyn and Monica Ortiz Uribe

"For nearly thirty years, women in the Mexican border city of Juarez. have been disappearing many of them turning up dead in mass graves. We. Don't know who the killers are very few have been charged and fewer convicted. My guest this week. Our odds volition and Monica Ortiz Rebbe. Of the amazing podcast forgotten the women of what is the final episode two, which is now available, they are incredible journalists with an infuriating story to tell. If! You've ever been to war with disposing of bodies, Israelis. You don't have to dig to her dirt. You're digging through saying. Just across the bridge from El Paso Texas, hundreds of young women have been tanning up dead in Juarez Mexico. Many artists covered in mass graves. Some have strange symbols coughed. Some. have their hands bound with shoelaces? And? Everyone from the families of the victims to the United States. FBI has tried to uncover who is behind these crimes. But one thing is clear. The crimes are connected. They're not just random victims. The women were picked. They were selected I mean there could be an abduction in broad daylight. No one saw it. No one talked about it. These are like ghosts. The numbers started to rise, and then a lot of theories were floated up the gangs serial murder. The cartels organ traffickers the possibility of some sort of strange devil worship. It's been fifteen years since I first heard about these murders, and I've been haunted ever since. How is it possible? These crimes remain unsolved on journey to find out we talk to victims, families FBI agents and a psychologist who claims the new one of the culprits. We visit, the site of one of the mass graves and traveled to a dangerous part downtown. Where many of the women disappeared? I Voloshin, I'm one of the hosts of Forgotten Women of Juarez. The podcast explores what happens when this become targets, and when the judiciary is compromised, I'm fighting for bust institutions and freedom of speech. Sorry, not sorry I'm Monique, our three, they co host of the podcast forgotten. The women of what is I believe workers everywhere should earn a fair wage and women ought to live free from violence Nazari Period I. WanNa give the listeners some back story on what's happening in Juarez. How many women have gone missing in the crimes not being? Even really investigated by authorities and then go into why you felt it was important to do. The podcast I first started working on this podcast of several trips to the Texas Mexico border specifically El Paso Texas and In Mexico. And it took me several trips before I learned something that everybody in the region knows, which is that? Since the early nineteen nineties, hundreds of women have turned up dead in Horace, and many of them met incredibly brutal fates, which was evident from that bodies when they were discovered. That been five mass graves of Women Discovering Juarez since nineteen ninety five. And yet, all of this was happening right across the border from one of America's safest cities, a prosperous suburban Texans city, and so I was just very curious. How could this be happening? How could the crimes not be solved? And it ended up being this journey with Monica that open up. All kinds of other questions particularly learn things like the FBI had tried to solve the crimes, not once not twice, but three times. When the mass grave was discovered, and suspects confessed harder Crawford was the FBI special agent in charge of El Paso. Is Office was just a few miles away from the site. The mass grave and he taken a special interest in the murders of women in Juarez and was following this case closely as a potential breakthrough. You could sense that the pressure was mounting. Political pressure public pressure international pressure. The families and relatives and friends of the disappeared. Women were allowed. Those women would hold use. Mourning the deaths and George attention to that. That was huge. There was all kinds of attention from the international press. People like Jennifer Lopez. Eve ensler involved and yet these crimes remain stubbornly unsolved wasn't clear. Who was killing these hundreds of women, and why and it was a story of vulnerability, but also a story of the deep paradox irony of the border that many of these women were working in factories, which were American owned could see across the border into a Passo a city of. A Fred safety enormous safety by comparison and that Alpes Owens could see back into war as many of them had relatives there many of them. Have Friends there and yet. "The NFL. No more preseason games. Well, that didn't take long. Yesterday morning. At this time, I told you about a source who said, Hey, we're going to be Cutting in half. At least one preseason game might not be possible. But If you think about new coaches, you got high draft picks. You got quarterbacks trying to get acclimated with game situations. And even a new coach, Kevin Stefanski, in Cleveland, just to have that communication from upstairs down to the field in realty time. And Joe Burrow in Cincinnati job Burrows First pass could be his first pass in the NFL. And then you have players who might not be able to make the roster without preseason because they don't get a chance to really showcase their talents. You're gonna have inter squad scrimmages. But I don't know how much football we're really going to see. And by that, I mean, are you gonna have inter squad games? Could I have the Texans and Cowboys play one another? Could you have maybe proximity scrimmages? Could Tampa play against the Dolphins or Jacksonville place? I don't know what's possible. And I think the NFL is trying Tio figure out. "Today there was a report that the NFL and NFL PA agreed that there will be kind of separate I are list. Four players who get the krona virus? It'll be three weeks. Global Picture is that we are technically only two days away as we tape this from a couple of teams including the Texans, rookies are supposed to show up for training camp. The NFL owners have a big call on Friday in which I expect, there will be news about certainly those rookies, not showing up and you know very possibly training camp getting pushed back, but I think. The the biggest takeaway is here. There's they're pretty far away feels like an even coming to terms with how this will look at the same time that you know five six seven NFL. Got Michael D. Do you think in any way the NFL is approaching problems with teams potentially gaining unfair advantages in terms of like reporting facilities. I know the NFL has guidelines. But you also can imagine. People will try to circumvent said guidelines if they can in good morning. Well first of all Paul Good Morning. Second of all today is the first day that the NFL is walking into a situation where we'll be disparities between what some teams can do and what some teams can't do roughly twenty two. The teams are eligible based upon local and state guidelines to partially reopen their facilities. Today ten teams. Roughly can't which means that there are two sets of rules in the NFL. Hit been very adamant about cutting one set of rules having one approach and no team opens until all teams can open so this the first break from that and the NFL is smoothing out. The disparity by saying coaches can return to any team facilities. But as time goes by there will be more situations where there are disparities up to and including the ultimate disparity with they some teams playing in open stadiums and some teams playing an empty stadium protecting the. Nfl has to be ready for now. With all that said given the inherent disparities that will lead even if people are following the rules. I agree with you. There's a chance that there will be people who violate the rules. But as I said time and again with the draft I hope that anyone who takes advantage of this situation to their benefit that yields to that temptation to try to gain the system to try to get that unfair advantage that if they are caught they have penalty imposed upon them that is worse than any other penalties imposed. Because I think it's it's beyond despicable to take advantage of these circumstances given why we're here given how we're here and given the bar context of favorites happening around the world and if you're going to focus on breaking these roles twisting these rules violating these rules to gain a very very tenuous competitive advantage. You deserve everything you get for it. So here's hoping that I deal with the NFL wouldn't need extreme measures to ensure that people are complying. But here's hoping that there are security cameras that there's a keycard there's some footprint where if it's possible to determine whether or not people violating these rules about who can't show facility I hope it doesn't come to that. I hope nobody does it. But you know hey we know that the teams are always looking for a way to improve their circumstances even if it means breaking roller to the content at pro football talk dot Com right now. Spectacular specifically given we are in a bit of a football related abyss between the draft. And what's next? You know? One of the many compelling and intriguing submissions that PF T. Tony Dungy On the proposal to insist Incentivized teams for hiring black coaches for for those who missed it What did he share? Well and I didn't know what his view on the proposed enhancement to the Rooney rule. Was We invited him on the accident? Podcast yesterday with the specific goal of getting his viewpoint and getting his reaction to the proposal that among other things well actually increased by six spots in the third round the draft status so the team that has a minority coach ten spots in third round of a team. That hires a minority jam. Those enhancements come to Your Act. The higher is made. He's against it. He said teams shouldn't be rewarded for doing the right thing. He's spoken to African American coaches around the League. Who have concerns about whether or not that? She opens their accomplishment whether they are viewed differently in the eyes of their peers. Because there's this perception that the owner may have ultimately been influenced by getting that reward in return for making the higher and I've had something we'll say to me. Well it's really not that much of a reward. Okay well then. Why are they offering it? The mere fact they're offering it implies that has value so if they're putting it on the table there's a reason to put it on the table and they're putting it on the table as a way to create an incentive to enhance minority hiring so the mere fact that he is their shows that there is value in in accepting that benefit. So he's opposed to it. There are other coaches who are opposed to it and after he and I talked to three yesterday for about fifteen minutes. Paul we both Kinda came to the realization. Hey beginning tomorrow. Why does it have to be decided right now to believer in taking time conversations communicating thinks? And all coming to what may be a better approach a better conclusion and a better strategy for enhancing minority hiring without these artificial measures that could undermine the process he. F. T. What's the Mike? Florio take on pumped in fake no noise for games. Well okay. There's two different ways to look at it. It's Fox has been discussing it and they've been at the front of the David Hill. The former Fox sports chairman has talked about a joke. Boxes talked about the idea that the broadcast would be enhanced with crowds and a laugh track from a Sitcom and plenty of sitcoms. Don't have laugh tracks. Plenty of sitcoms rely upon the intelligence of the audience to know when to laugh and I think most football fans will know when to cheer when to stream went to curse Wenda Boo Wendell. Whatever weather watching a game? They don't need that extra and the sound. It's artificially added to the process but okay fine if they added to the broadcast. It's not gonNA BE HEARD IN THE VENUE. That's the other way to look at this and we talked earlier about the potential disparity if some teams playing at full stadiums and started teams. Playing an empty stadiums. Do you balance out that disparity by allowing the teams that are playing an empty stadiums to use fake crowd noise to use that same kind of noise. That teams will put into practice bubble when they're getting ready to play in Minnesota Kansas City or Seattle. And how the Terminal Decibel level? What's fair do you simulate what it would be like for a normal home? Game is there a baseline found? That is used because it really is an advantage to the home. Chaim what it does to the visiting team's offense it it disrupts their ability to go with a normal snap count and it takes away that split second edge. The sensitive line has over the defensive line when it comes to the start of a play. And when you're talking about trying to hold off a Khalil mack and Aaron Arizona or anyone else if everyone is acting on the movement of the ball the offensive line no longer has that that advantage that extra we know when the play is starting. You don't so there isn't edge there that these teams have. It will go away. I don't know how you replace it though. Effectively with with artificial crowd noise. That's and look again. There will be disparities. There will be unfair so this will be a season much. Like nineteen eighty two in nineteen eighty seven both were affected by strikes. The eighty two season had nine regular season games and eighteen tournament in each conference. Washington ended up winning the superbowl that year. Nobody puts an astros found that trophy. Eighty seven one game was wiped out three games. I believe were played by replacement players at the end of the day. Washington on the Super Bowl. Not Put an asterisk. Hot Trophy either. So there's GonNa be a season. Hopefully they'll be two fifty six regular season games and at the end of the day. Somebody's GonNa Horse Lombardi and nobody's GonNa put an asterisk on it no matter what competitive disparities may come up. During the course of the football season guessing now regarding things in September In May can be fruitless in quite honestly exhausting. But I'm GONNA ask Anyway. Where where the giants and jets GonNa play in September right? I don't know I mean look. I think that they can play at home and an empty stadium. Here's the question to ask and I can't even begin to crunch the numbers here and I don't think the NFL can just with any amount of certainty. But let's just say and I'm just gonNA throw a dart. Let's just say the jets play their home games in Miami Sharing Stadium with the dolphins now. Look Dolphins already have enough ten it is? I don't think they WANNA be competing with the jets in their own market. But you know what they may not have a choice because the ultimate decision will be instead of having eight. Home Games in New Jersey where no fans can pay to show up. We're going to go ahead and put the jets in Miami. It's GonNa be strange kind of here. We're going to have the ability for people in Miami to show for and they they may not cost as much as game but you have people showing up yet. People buy food people by drink. Chat people by programs you have people buy merchandise and your recapturing some that revenue. So that's what I think is going to be the ultimate question if there are some states where you can't play in open stadiums and where you can will the NFL say we're GONNA have to team markets so one year because we want we want to capture. The money comes not just from the people who show up. That's by getting in but all the stuff they buy when they come to the game and and That is one of these these kind of hiding in plain sight questions the NFL is going to have to address at some point And they're going to have to do it by having a much better way than you were coming up with the difference between you know playing your home games at home and play your home game somewhere else and how much more my you've gotta come through the gates because of that and last one. I got about a minute here Then you know from Earl Thomas through Dunbar Baker and obviously you know different off-field situations but players being responsible enough during the season to do their very best to knock it exposed to the virus. I mean that that's a major thing to right. Well yes and here's why I don't think the bio dome concept is going to be an issue for the NFL where you have everyone in one place and you have to trust. The guys aren't going to break quarantine by going out to the local strip club or somewhere else where they can potentially be exposed to the virus this ultimately is only going to work for the NFL if there is regular testing repeated testing continuous testing. Before they show up into the facility. Basically an airlock where you go in you take a test and if you are negative you go through the doors of civility for practice that day and on the way out because maybe you've picked it up during the course of the day and before we unleash you onto the public we're GonNa make sure that your negatives there it's gotta be testing and testing testing testing over and over and over again and because once you get out on that field it's going to be impossible to not infect other people. I know they're talking about face. Matt's Material Paul. That is made out of surgical masks to the and ninety five. I don't I don't know that you're going to be able to hermetically sealed like darth vader. Someone's head and keep them from getting the virus. You just have to do everything you can to make sure that the only people who are on a field at any given time or all negative and they've got to be tested over and over and over and over again and that's that's the challenge the testing technology up to that by the time we get the football season. Fantastic aggregrate week. I appreciate you say Mike. Florio profootballtalk dot com to begin the second hour on the soccer Tuesday Minnesota. Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer. Ball waste.

"Here with my co host and lead film draft analyst can't Swanson of a p Crispin Oh cerro helping us out behind the glass and right now I'd like to get a look at the other team entering this Sunday the Houston Texans and to do that we welcome in battle read Blogs Matthew West and Matt thanks for coming on with US tonight of course Jon so Texans ten points against the against the panthers than fifty three ah against the Falcons what when you when you watch this game went so damn right last week one really helps bad defense a lot of people don't realize how bad the alcohol because they say well it's Matt Ryan Jones statements three years ago how can they be this is bad last year was down she will force turnovers at the right time and this year there yeah the pastor show whatsoever except from great jared offense is pretty good but they can't rush the passer and then their secondary message were down which coverages are running they broke for just twenty times it's just like open guys ever free constantly and you're trying to Carolina's like a smart defense and we'll coach in rushing away the blood flow they ran stunned okay pressure area boulevards coverages that who account to the bench of the same sort of rock combination typically run and it's like it's with you said where did the on off each week so far the share and how much of a lasting doesn't sound sequences bad civil to tell they they get they play action they ran the ball fairly well you can pretty good run defense the way it has and the best way give the full off which other really stressed Falcon secondary create routes for four fourteen catches for fifty dollars let's return yards and three touchdowns but again with the falcons a really bad so it's hard extrapolate within your last week for future but you're good teams badges my law point you you do things like three points and again matthew was a ABC south opponent opponent and a you know the the team that the the Texans were going to be playing the very next week I'm sure you are Sunday night football you have to feel pretty good about the Texas chances this week after watching that game right it's weird because like she played beat the colts attack well he'll be able to create pressure you need to like survive homes being exerted like survivor that they run run the ball really well and like Houston doesn't win the ball inefficient did you crawl inside Hi Carrie six ers talking to excuse because Johnson's books big Ron Shawn Watson Greg shrimp the game they kind of inflates proficiency in regards to carry two and but you don't necessarily play it's hard to shoot gets a cheese and you don't thinks about best past offense a football game here's the Shawn Watson passed off time it's not as good as the chiefs and could you have out and so much smaller they that's what they're best at you it works well the ball again using hopkins in for an spe she shall watch it past the checking well that sort of thing if I like the way that she like a set started flying finally you mentioned Carlos Hi it's interesting because he spent training camp with the chiefs until that trade at the fifty man roster deadline is rushing four point yar four point two yards per attempt what are your impressions of Carlos better the day of like she years or so second year I think this is lashing San Francisco the fourth to Cleveland and just like with what works passes he said something like five receiver sets with you know the tie data's receiver tides three receivers without running backs out there all pro bowl garden do all the office in Kansas City we're just hoping maybe he plays next week with the offensive line going down with a few guys yeah I would love to see that well that is the voice battle read Blogs Matthew West and Talamante twitter it's m. b. w. nine eight seven battle read blog dot com is the Texans version of Arrowhead prides if you WANNA check that out that this week you should matt thank you for joining us man let kind of gives you a little bit of hope there you could tell that he wasn't buying into the fact that the texts dropped fifty three because he he basically felt like the Falcons stink well I don't know if he is seen the chiefs secondary and I know people are really just kind of given the chiefs Kandara Bass right now right because the run even so bad because the offensive line is so bad and everything else is so bad it could get real ugly for the chief secretary the next week very quickly because the things that the Houston receivers can do with Wolf challenged on the field vertically in Ti Andrea options oh by the way one of the best receivers in football highpoint of ball it could it could it could turn pretty ugly that's the second for the chiefs let's refocus on the defensive line with Chris Jones possibly facing some time out here Colin Sanders third round rookie is GonNa get some burn this weekend that we had opportunity to talk to him in the chiefs locker today here's our interview with Colin Saunders so because of injuries and whatnot and some of your progression you got extended time ask game what did you make of it now that you've taken it in gotten a look at some fell I'll just think that obviously a little bit of adjustment as far as the speed but You know I it was good to get out there and finally kind of just play and you know what I mean get acclimated citizen in general because I gotTa do in in order to you get acclimated as being on the field so I think that helped a lot in and you know it's like I say this is all about the speed of the game and and the justice who is so that's you're you're at when it comes to adjusting getting to one hundred percent I definitely a lot of room to improve I mean I think you know any I got coming out here this year got a lot of rooms improve no matter what pig you wear or anything like that so I think that I I definitely have a lot of room to improve but it was a good start getting the play on Sunday and like I said just give them a see how the blocks fo- unfold and how you know I get attacked from online and stuff like that and just getting a feel for a block because even beauty strongest guy or whatever you know it's all about technique at this level when you could potentially be the best guy on field and you don't know what you're getting what's coming at you in the best position so my main focus now is just learning how to identify stuff a little quicker it's not really as much of the physical aspect it was just more of like you know the mets aspect of the game coach daily help you with that helps a lot I mean I just spent on you know actually a couple of minutes after means onto him today actually about the Texans coming in and you know he breaks down the tendencies of them really well and they're just comes to me and coach so he i think he has a lot you know just him know his stuff it makes it easier on me because I can ask them questions and get clear answers and we know Chris is going to be out for a little bit here how helpful has he been as well or charisma helpful from a star as soon as I got on the team you know he was my messages and help me got me as far as you know nutrition sleeping schedules stuff like that like stuff outside of football obviously since we've been playing like a he on the teachers do his actions like you know he might not just tell me directly hey do this but he'll do some you know and then I ask them about it like why would watch film he'll tease me or tease me why he did it that's really what it comes down to why you're doing something like like I say it goes back to recognize what blocking you're GonNa get like what are you going to attack with so he's really good at doing that and teaching me you know how to block missions in Backfield sets stuff like that in college you were the guy how hard was it just having to watch for the first two weeks and I yeah it's definitely a challenging you know not not necessarily to frustrating because I mean these guys here you know that's just the reality of it and is really about your skill level if you're gonNA play Maso you know it was obviously I wanNA play but I wouldn't ready like this being quite frankly I wasn't ready yeah and I still don't think I'm just completely ready but I do think I'm making progress in the right direction and Good Luck State around Rookie Colin Saunders who will get a bit of time in lineup and you could tell he's learning on the fly here thirty three snaps in last game that was forty percent of the defense natural player who you can really tell feels like he's been thrown in the yeah you you hope he's Yuppies ready this week interestingly enough I don't know if they matched up too much but Titus Howard and Mac Scharping boasts putting on the offensive line for the Texans were at the senior bowl with Colin Saunders watching them do Phillips wash them do flips but I'm GonNa go see if I can find south anything on twitter then when we come back we'll find out what the national heads are saying about your chiefs plus we'll hear from you you can text us on the Protein House with a purpose nine six nine three zero six or tweet to arrowhead pride will do a live mailbag to end the show it's arrowhead pride radio presented by village West discounters.

"Build this football team because all those years when the defense was the stronger of the two units on their team yeah they were getting in the playoffs but were they really contenders. When you talked about getting getting to a super bowl and the answer was no right. They had to get better on offense. They had to get stronger. They had to increase and improve the quarterback back production brian hoyer of the world the brock osweiler's of the world it just wasn't getting it done for them and bill o'brien knew it and now they have to shawn john watson and watson has shown that you know what he's more than capable they've given him weapons at wide receiver they brought him another one here in kenny stills and they wanted to make sure they could keep them upright right than anything else and that's why they made the tunnel move and now when i look at the houston texans okay and i know they lose lamar miller to they've tried to piece it together. They made the move to bring in carlos hyde here just to add some depth to running back. I get it but if you're looking at the houston texans right now if you ask me clearly. I think that shift has already happened to where you're looking at more of an offensive first team and i think that's how you have to be. I think that's how you have to be and moving away from today's van clowney and moving on from him. I think also add some testament to that as well aided eight say e._s._p._n. Is a telephone number. "Dolphins never liked him to begin with while he was coming out out of the draft last year possible but i just think if you've already made these moves and if you've stocked up on all these draft choices you might as well see what this this guy has so then when you go into next off season you can then no one way or the other we need a quarterback or we don't need a quarterback. The ryan fitzpatrick thing makes no sense to me whatsoever. None whatsoever rosen may not turn out to be any good and a lot of sports. A lot about being successful is opportunity. Is it not josh rosen so far. He's not going down very good. Wrote say what you want about arizona last year. The offensive offensive line was garbage. He was not in a situation that was conducive to him being successful now. He's going to go to miami and trade away. Their franchise left tackle. He's pricing himself. Oh my goodness when i get on the field. Is anybody going to be able to block for me at all in the national football league so he's heading down a road which may not make him successful. This will may not make him a desired commodity in and around the national football league and there might be some underlying circumstances as to why it's not just on the player it was josh rosen going to go down the road of being another derek carr. "They can both maybe grow with the program at the same time. That's why you see so much. Roster turnover in the national football league specifically when you have coaching changes isn't regime changes like gavin miami and they've been adamant in the last couple of days since these moves happened that we are not tanking no way no how we're not tanking. You know what you could say that they're not taking. The dolphins can say that they're not tanking. I don't know what word you want to use. Who's as far as i'm concerned and try to win this year. I can promise you that. The dolphins are not trying to win this year so they could say that. They're not tanking. Hey if they win four games this year. I'd be surprised but they're well positioned for the future. Dolphins now have two picks in each of the first round in each of the first three rounds. I should say in the two thousand twenty drift. It's pretty good. It's pretty good good but sometimes all those draft picks. Don't necessarily bear the fruits that you hope they will. I always say when it comes to draft choices you. You can have fifty million of them but unless you hit home runs with those picks what good are they and if you're a fan if you don't have trust in the folks that are making those selections. What good are they. I mean do. I have to take you back not even too long ago. I know the cleveland browns are like the darlings of the n._f._l. Right now and everybody thinks that they do wrong and they're going to be in the super bowl here pretty soon but a wasn't that long ago where the cleveland browns have draft choice after draft choice after draft choice remember and then they swung and missed on virtually all them and they were like a joke around the national football league so so it serves as a reminder that yeah you can have all these draft choices that doesn't mean that you're going to strike gold with them and that's what you got to be careful with your the miami dolphins you know tunsil especially and i remember everything that happened with him on draft night and there was controversy that was surrounding him back on draft night with the viral picture and all the other stuff but you know what he's blossom into a pretty good left tackle in the national football league easily a top ten player at the position and if you're miami you know what that would probably be a position an area of need then now you have to go searching for because you had one and and you traded him away for draft choices. That's something you've got to be careful about and you know look. I wasn't expecting a lot what about the dolphins this year i really wasn't okay and clearly the moves that they made here in the off season showed you they had one eye towards the future but because of that that and you could say that they're they got an eye on to tongue of iowa and hopefully they're going to pick first or second and they're gonna they get their hands on the alabama quarterback either him or justin herbert of oregon or somebody because you figure they need to find out who their franchise cuba's while while why do you then go ahead and decide to start ryan fitzpatrick this week against the baltimore ravens ryan. Fitzpatrick is a good guy. He really is okay but you know what you're getting ryan fitzpatrick. He might pull a couple of throws at a you know where he he might go off one game but then the interceptions are gonna amount and he's going to revert back to the main and then you're gonna see ryan. Fitzpatrick has been the definition phoenician the enemy of a career journeyman. You have josh rosen. You made the move for josh rosen. Josh rosen was a first round. "You know is that adequate. I don't think so and by the way you're paying half his salary ellery so once again the seattle seahawks who i don't know if we're going to sit here and put the seahawks in the category of super bowl contenders in a team that you know you may think could go all the way this year they still got a lot of work to do but seattle and john schneider and that organization show you why they've been a well run team team over the last several years and they have a super bowl championship in the last decade and they've been competitive even as they continue to turn over this roster they continue to be competitive and they probably will be again this year because getting cloudy for what they got him for right as i said a couple of journeyman players and and a third round pick and you've got other team to kick in some of the money for the salary what's better than that what's better than that right now so if you're the seattle seahawks and it's another example of why they get it and why they've been so competitive if you think about the moves here dating all the way back to the off season season for the seattle seahawks john schneider they made the move to trade frank clark right they moved on from him and nisa centrally turn frank clark into today beyond cloudy ziggy ansah who they signed of course as a free agent in the offseason season l. j. collier who you drafted with some of the pictures you got in the frank clark trade brilliant maneuvering <music> by john schneider as far as i'm concerned brilliant maneuvering and that's why they get it and that's why you look at the seahawks and you can never discount their chances on a year-on-year route basis can't say the same thing about the houston texans. I mean houston more often than not if he asked me. They've benefited the last couple of years from being a division in which was kind of up and down the best. Am i right or am i wrong. They have a lot to prove here winning the a._f._c. a._f._c. south with a nine seven record granted. They weren't nine seven last year. I know that but in a couple of other cases they were and people kind of scoffed at it because you don't take it as legitimate and the only reason you're sitting there is because you have an inferior division and hey somebody's got to win it and remember that sparks all the conversation about whether that if you're an inferior division and champion whether you should even get a home playoff game and they want and fans want the n._f._l. To go about changing the way that it distributes playoff teams and awarding home games and so on and so forth. I'm not going that far yet okay and hopefully we don't have to deal with that moving forward but it is what it is and it happened okay so they move on from cloudy. They don't get enough compensation as far as i'm concerned but they don't stop there because let's face facts when you're talking about the houston texans their biggest commodity right now. Their biggest investment is shawn watson gave their franchise quarterback. He is the guy and they have. I've been looking for the last couple of years to essentially find a replacement for duane brown. The franchise left tackle and now they think they finally got one in en- laremy tunsil in a trade with the miami dolphins okay by all accounts. This is a pretty good move. He's under contract for two more years so you don't have to worry worry about the money as far as that is concerned and if we remember what happened to houston last year and specifically shawn watson to shawn watson got sacked sixty two times in two thousand eighteen they that's a lot of hits. I don't care if he's a mobile quarterback. I don't care visa strict pocket passer..

"If you ask me the texans did not handle this situation as well as they could have breath first and foremost when you talk about the role that this player was going to have for this football team this year all right. We know there are some easily easily. Some talented players on that side of the field for the houston texans a right. They've got some playmakers on defense. But what did you know so then you ask yourself a question. If you're gonna pay baby unclogging all this money is going to reap the rewards big picture for you and i think that when you look at some of the dollars have been thrown around to some other players like for example we just celebrated the one year anniversary of khalil mack getting traded to the chicago oh bears and you think about the whole that the raiders got for him and then the money subsequently that the chicago bears had to pay the player. I don't think i'm alone in saying that. Cloudy is not in the same category as khalil mack. He's not you know we thought it was. Maybe going to be the other way around coming out of college into the draft. We thought cloudy. It was gonna be superior. Player and mack was a guy who played at buffalo where the competition certainly wasn't as good as it was in the s._e._c. He made an impact down there but you wonder if that was going to translate translate into the national football league and it has and then some and he has become arguably the best pass rusher in the national football league clown. He's not bad he's. He's just not on that level so if you're houston. I think you have every right to say yeah. I don't think the player is worth what he was asking but then you better at least get it's something good in return and that is where we can sit here and examine. Did they get the best offer they could have and more importantly. Did they handle it the best way they could. Have you know you you think about the houston. Texans right. Now and cloudy had a little bit of leverage in this situation all right. He chose not to sign the franchise tag. He stayed away from the football team. He had every right to do so what the texans should have done here if they didn't want to pay him. They should have traded him before july. The fifteenth july fifteenth was the deadline of course. If you had a franchise player that was the deadline to sign him to a contract extension that is when the texans should have made sure he was no longer on the roster because he kind of saw this day ultimately happening because he wasn't gonna sign the tag. The team wasn't gonna give them huge money that is when they should've shopped them to make sure they got something to him and he couldn't be traded until signing the franchise tender and now look at what houston ended up getting in return for what twenty five cents on the dollar if that you know. Do you think that this player fire who still i think on a good day is one of the better pass rushers in the national football league one of the more feared players in the national football league you send them to the seattle seattle seahawks and you get a third round pick and a couple linebackers arkadiusz mingo who's been nothing more than a journeyman so far in his career. That's what you got form..

"Brought to you by straight talk wireless and this past weekend teams finalizing the roster lot of moving and shaking guys come in guys going as they all set their fifty fifty three to get started here for the beginning of this regular season and the team making the most news the last couple of days clearly the houston texans and the texans are an odd odd team in the sense that it's not like they've been unsuccessful the last several years under bill o'brien they have right. They've won three division titles under this head coach. They've only won the won playoff game and you can make the argument that the only reason they won the playoff games because the raiders were playing with a quarterback who was probably not equipped to start a playoff game that was remember when endeavor car went down with a broken leg on christmas eve so it's not like they've been a bottom feeder. They've been actually pretty successful. I think that a lot of teams and a lot of fans would certainly certainly sign up for what the houston texans of able to give them the last couple of years but they had themselves marquee player in today the uncloudy and you knew that eventually has contract was going to be coming into an end and your face with one of two predicaments you can either pay the player or you can look to shop him and get something for him. We know how everything turned out and we know today. The uncloudy is now a member of the seattle seahawks and we'll try to wreak havoc on the quarterbacks in the n._f._c. west out in the great northwest. But what about the houston in texas did they handle this the right way because not only did they trade today be on clinton to the seahawks then they go ahead and they make the move with the miami dolphins and bringing a franchise left tackle tackling laremy tunsil so there's a lot of things to unpack here with houston and specifically the way that they kind of just fine tune this roster over the last forty forty eight seventy two hours and make no mistake about it here guys. This is a team that is acting without a general manager but it is clearly bill o'brien show. He's the one one that is calling the shots. He is the one making the moves here for this football team and it's going to be his you know what on the line if the moves don't pan out now clearly the shape of the a._f._c. south has undergone a little bit of a change over the last couple of weeks with the andrew luck news that he was going to be retiring and the colts turning over the offense to jacoby percent. I get that but you looked at the houston texans team even when luck was figured to be part of the mix for indianapolis and he thought that they had a pretty good chance chance to do some special things here again in this division and in the a._f._c. but let's start with the cloudy situation here first and foremost before we get into the move it they made with the miami dolphins and when you look at what they did in shipping the player off to the seattle seahawks clearly they could not come to an understanding which davey uncloudy in terms of the value houston clearly didn't want to pay the guy what he thought he was worth so they were left with no choice but to send him packing to seattle here. Now look today began cloudy. Has he been a bus definitely not but his been the so-called..

"Kickers can choose they wanna go middle right or left hash and brett maher more often than not chooses to go from the left hash why why is that significant because he has an issue from the right hash so you know it's not a big deal. I guess it's kind of a big deal. I mean how you know it depends on the mood. You're i suppose he always chooses to go left hash and if he's making cookies making kicks but ideally you know there wouldn't be any hash mark that he sensed against <hes> trepidation whatsoever but so braemar look good. I struggle. I really do struggle and i'm. I don't think i'm drinking kool aid. I don't think it's any sort of prisoner. The moment sort of thing then i struggled to come up with the dallas cowboys player who played poorly against you know the houston texans it's hard. I can find a lot of texans that played bad <hes> but i struggle struggle to find what you michael. Gallup looked starman. Michael gal looks so good. He looks like he is going to take a leap and it's such a cliche shea thing to say this time of year but he looks like a rock star. He had that fantastic play that was called back because the holden penalty on connor williams not not ideal but michael gal looks good man and it's fun to imagine an offensive features amari cooper michael gallup zeke elliott tony pollard randall lacob jason witten doing his thing the cowboys offensive line and dak prescott however much you and arjun about that's up to you but there's talent on this team then there's a lot of reason. I believe that they're gonna do something special. Come two thousand nine hundred regular season and we're so close for about two weeks away and this was this was really the best dress rehearsal that the cowboys always could possibly have hoped for. I mean everything everything went well. Everything went right. Everything went according to plan and how often does that happen in a preseason game very very very rarely <hes> so good for the cowboys <hes> good for all of us. It's fine and <hes> hopefully. It's a sign of good things to come <hes> lastly. Obviously i think you know this is a cowboys podcast feed and by the way subscribe but we have to talk about injured lock right that that news broke during the game. I'm andrew log. Indianapolis colts quarterback retiring at the young age of twenty nine. Obviously angela has battled injuries in has had a you know really tough go about that of the last four years with the indianapolis colts missed all the two thousand seventeen season and man i mean i'm twenty nine years old old for a peek behind the curtain and so i think you know if you're at the very least twenty nine or older. I think it's a weird feeling when it's a weird feeling at first i remember one andrew relucant robert griffin. The third guy drafted twenty twelve. It's a weird feeling when you're like oh that dude's my age and he's a quarterback in the national football league. I know you think think about like i couldn't do. There's no way like that's so that seems so difficult. I couldn't handle all that and so now it's like oh wow now he's retiring. He played his whole whole career and so it's a really sort of stark moment in life. Angela is one of the best quarterbacks. I think you know that's overplayed in my lifetime so talented. Everybody thought he was going to be you know this this this next then he was going to be the guy i mean indianapolis colts went from peyton manning the him twenty one seasons from in terms of peyton to andrew one super bowl. It just shows how hard it is to win. When it's so difficult people point out obviously z. brett farve and aaron rodgers that air for green bay. They've only got to show for. It is so difficult to win a super bowl and it's so difficult to kind of put up with things when you you're not right when you buy is not right when you're fighting when things are are uncomfortable when things are awkward when things are frustrating for you and that's what andrew luck has been dealing with then. I think you know rappaport. The beneficial network reported that angel wants to travel the world. He's always been a really bright in a stupid person..

"At least one dallas cowboys related podcast every single day through the super bowl at the very least do the super wall. Do not want to hear that i mean. Do you not want to cowboys. That's why we're all here. We're going to get into some other things that are not cowboys related a huge thing. Obviously i don't think we could not talk about andrew lex retirement because it happened in the middle of this game but let's start right away and by the way depending on when you're listening to this if you are <hes> very early in god right here in the immediate moments of posting it it might not be up on blocking the boys dot com quite yet but i wrote winners and losers. I do this every week after a cowboys always five winners five losers and kind discuss who had a good game who didn't have a good game right and in thinking about this particular game that did not feel fair to the cowboys our because i could not come up with five losers i mean and sometimes it's a stretch you know you can come up with lose early etc but i didn't want to do that more importantly so i decided was we went with five five super winners and five normal winters because there was so much positive to take from this couch performance against the texans and i think that you know this so this is a big meal. You know it's kinda like ever go to like a barbecue restaurant and <hes> it's one of those places where you get all of the food on your plate and then you go pay. Ah you gotta you gotta gotta measure what you want and then they go and they weigh in they tell you how much it is this kind of like that because this game has to last status for two weeks because september is about two weeks away from now and we're not gonna get any real cowboys football next thursday <hes>. We all know that it's going. Maybe a light version of preseason football at that simply because you know it's the fourth the preseason you're taking every precaution in the book. You're not risking anything anything. We've we've seen the last of dak prescott and <hes> michael gallup and all the stars and the stars and even all the reserves. We've seen the last of them until the season opener against the new york giants so super winners from me. I mean you know there were a lot. It was difficult because when you win thirty four to nothing the cowboys scored seventeen points points in the first quarter they were fantastic. I'll say this. I think the player of the game the most valuable player the best performance for the dallas cowboys. Who do you think it was while you're listening. I'll give give you one second to answer. Who is your m._v._p. The cowboys game against the texans. That's interesting. Wow that's interesting. Take i don't know who it was but the answer is taco charlton and you know we're kind of living in a crazy world at that's what's going on with taco given the way his first two seasons where the cowboys have gone but taco geico to his.

Cowboys have the advantage of the giants. Twenty one to eight team Panthers. Thirty saints nothing for complete scoreboard line. Foxsports dot com. I don't know if you saw this picture is going viral all over the internet. It's actually a photo from September of nineteen forty-three all these people in Cornwall on the beach and just having a great old time. And again, remember the year is nineteen forty three. But in the middle, there's a man in a scruffy Brown suit. And he looks to be if he's pure into a smartphone. And so everybody saying, hey, look at the time traveller, right using mobile phones. Spot in the nineteen forties. All right. That's gonna be a long wait for an Uber ride. Don't you think and you say, ladies and gentlemen, just an example of all the fun facts that we pass along week every week on this. It's America's biggest weekend radio show. We talk about living the best digital lifestyle ever. And you can find us on four hundred top stations from coast to coast and around the globe on armed forces radio. And in case you're wondering why it's called the Kim commando show. Just happened to be Kim commando. Funny. How that works. In fact, it is and the phone lines are open one triple eight eight to five fifty to fifty four is the way to join us once again that toll-free number one triple eight eight to five fifty to fifty four and we go before we go back to all of your phone calls. Some interesting items that crossed my desk in my screen that you need to know about first of which is do you think that Facebook had know anything more about you anything more? I mean free to users Facebook makes us money off of advertising right now. It's one thing to assume that Facebook has a lot of data on us. Another thing to know, exactly. Just how much right when totaled Facebook can classify roughly fifty two thousand traits of each of accusers. Did you? Even realize that you had fifty two thousand traits thing about that fifty two thousand data bit all about you. Let's talk about streaming. I mean, streaming services used to be the way notice I said used to be the way to save money on those expensive cable bills. Well, millennials have signed up for streaming droves. "I don't think I agree. So let's get to the preview portion of this show. Ben let's go eagles offense redoing the Texans defense. Ben this defense this Houston Texans defense is going to be a bigger test than I think most expect and you're really hearing much about it, which I get your coming up a big win over the Rams, and that's the story right now. But looking past the Texans would be a big mistake. And that saying that the eagles are. But I think the media is a bit. We were gonna talk about this before the show you wanna dig into that right now why you think maybe it's not attracting maybe even with all the record. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Why is the perception of this game different than what we think the reality is to degree to which you might liken it to being a trap game. Michael. By the way, I'm calling this five percent trap game. Not not even until you the there's a likeness there that you you you sleeping on the Texans. Looking ahead. The character of the trap game is that the your perceptions about house being treated, you know, like in the media and impresses is vastly different than how we've you it. Which is why we feel to be a trap here. Looking that characterised the same? It's very different discrepancy that we're talking about here. The thing is this Houston. Texans game wasn't supposed to matter right likely vehicles. Beat the Cowboys. Then what you would have a sumo was okay? They lose to the Rams. And then this Texas game matters, Tom. They have to win to stay on top of the Cowboys to the division. That was what the problem fall was. Visit us the Cowboys like all right? Well, they're not gonna make the playoffs. Now, they have to beat the Rams in order to do it. And then if you the Rams which rerate microcosm for how the yeah. Exactly. If you don't this exactly how this has gone. The Rams and now the Texas game matters again. So because we had that week off of like are they have to win this one. And this has to lose that one after make sure they don't lose more than this week off between the Cowboys in the Ran's, we're now back into okay? So if they beat the Texans, and so very much. So the conversation we've been having up until now, which is Wednesday night has been okay. If they beat the Texans, which is not mulling over in steamrolling over how difficult would be the Texans. But it's just so much of over interested right now 'cause it's playoff push. Because the eagles are on the bubble the seven seed or whatever so much of the conversation. We're dealing with right now is just okay. What happens if they'd be the Texans? What do they need happen again to the playoffs because everybody knows that they lose the Jackson's if pretty much done right again outside shots, but pretty much it's over. So that's what we're talking about. Now, a time to talk about what it will be the taxes in order to be the Texans..

"As I said an old school Ellison the evening tonight and tomorrow night. All right. So once bashing tonight, it's great who's going to say. All right. So let's breath of fresh air for me on this side. Losing my mind last night. Rob was bad. I know I know it's we're in bizarro world when I walk in and Jack, and I are on the same page almost collapsed. I know it's not normal. And we're texting back and forth today about the show. And I got a third person Jack Fritz, that's nice. All right. All right now. I I work with Jack in a little while. Now back back in Fritz mode. I believe what I said was if you don't want controversy. You don't blitz. Fritz in the Mike. Yes. Roll number one WIP there. It is. There's this third person threats. Yes. So as I was going to say we're coming back. Your return music was a little big either. All right. Come on. Here's my question. Big buck two buck veto. This is bizarre that we're on the same page. Strange. Very very strange. Hey, by the way. Twenty one years ago yesterday. Do you know what happened? Twenty one years ago yesterday nine seven thousand nine hundred ninety seven. Eight years ago today was the miracle Meadowlands three correct twenty one years ago yesterday in ninety seven. No, Chris Farley. Really past the west away went to the big SNL in the sky. Yes. I really wish. I could. I wish I wish I could see what Chris Farley age like. See all stuff like Tommy boy, right? All the good stuff. And he was actually funny. I don't really find much old things funny though, he was legit legitimately funny. Sandler in his concert. Tori, this concert tour, the comedy tour, whatever we utilize is like all those guys Snyder. And all those guys were always in his movies. He did awesome. If you get a chance to YouTube. It's not safe for work. There's some black return. There's some language in there. But he doesn't unbelievable tribute to Farley. He he put a tribute song together where he it just him audit guitar. In front of an audience, and it's awesome. It's really good. You got check that out all time favorite SNL. Character is. I have to get back to you something with will Farrell. Are you think about that? I'll give you my top five. Here's my top life. We can throw this in mount Rushmore as a little aside. I don't do mount Rushmore. These are my top fives is my mouth Ellis. Eddie Murphy is my all time favorites. I know these are before your time. But Eddie Murphy is my Alzheimer Phil Hartmann who could do everything who was awesome is my number two Farley's my three will Farrell's my number four. And then I might go. Dana Carvey as my number five. That would be my. No, we'll know. He's four. Okay. Thank you. Attachment. I'm trying to make sure sure let's go to Mitch and east Windsor met you're on ninety four to pay. I'm mitch. Hey. What are you doing merry Christmas? Man, I've been pretty pretty well. Pretty busy. I got any mytalk. He was the man. Eddie Murphy movies. Yeah. There were great. You kidding me? Trading places. Beverly Hills cop forty-eight hours killer. Great and train place top three movies, Michael Cobb one. I watched that movie any time, I'm not fall for that banana tailpipe. Yeah. Exactly. Yup. I don't do. So. Well, but he does quite well. The capa-. I mean, he's Asian mean guy. You never know. We're gonna get with him fighting that he goes on the corner. You have mayo that you train all those picks. Yeah. Have to. Term maybe not as rich as as originally thought. But you gotta keep can't I think we're supposed to kinda walk in the him of flacco. There's gonna be an extra in quarterback. And then either you're gonna have to draft Ohio State guy even take a fly on column Murray. I think is quite interesting. I don't know if he's gonna play baseball or not if I'm him. I'm playing baseball. You're gonna make your body's not going to get shredded. It's true. I wish you can do both. But yeah, I know. The both playing both sports. Now, I I know Bo Jackson was able to do it. But it's it's this day and age man, especially at the position of quarterback damn near impossible. Don't forget the Sanders. Yeah. I mean, that's in bows era. That's that's a while ago. And neither guy was a quarterback. So that would be really really tough not to be able to start your season as a starting quarterback. Bo used to come in like week four or five as a running back Dion. So it's it was tough. It was a natural like Herschel Walker. Well, we'll disappointment any didn't get the whole thing. The whole thing like yell says with injuries so Kotel both their careers. I think he was just too tough. I think season ends this Sunday for the eagles. I think Houston's team Houston's interesting Mitch and thanks, man. Like, they're not if you watch them Saturday, and you've watched them this year in general. They're not a great team. You have to acknowledge the fact that they've won ten of eleven, but you start to look at exactly who they've been able to put this this run together against the Shawn Watson is a really really and he's just going to get better. And better the Andre Hopkins to me is I always say he's under rated because people do give him props. But it's like it's automatically and Antonio Brown or a Julio Jones when people talk about the best receiver in the game. I don't know why the Andre Hopkins. Name doesn't come up more. It should probably the best hands in the league. I mean, you talk about fifty fifty balls. You get anything in the same zip code is this guy and he's bringing it down. And you could just watch the jets game. If you wanted a couple of examples of that. So anyway, there are some guys you're gonna have to contend with on that side of the ball, you go to the other side the defensive line is ferocious. I mean. JJ watt has been the most dominant defensive player in the game up until injuries really curtailed. And I think it's Aaron Donald now. So we don't talk about a maybe as much, but he still has fourteen and a half sacks. You know, you look at this run. They've put together the Texans. They've split with the colts. The colts have turned out to be pretty good seeing. They split with them. They beat the Cowboys who have granted beaten eagles twice. But if the Cowboys are great team, they beat the bills the Jags Miami, Denver, Washington, Tennessee and other team that beat the eagles and Cleveland and not to mention the jets. So it granted they haven't played the most incredible teams but ten of eleven love they started the season off. Oh and three and now they're tended for. Joey Clerval, Joe you're on ninety four to guy Robbie my second favorite Bonner grad. What's up Joe? Hey, pal. Good. My man how you doing? Hey, great. I'm finally glad talk to you. You you're always on when I can't seem to call. I appreciate it, man. Thank you. Our my first day rebounder grad. Well, he's still in a toll booth down by the river. Nice Farley Radford's. There you work that in. Yes, sir. Love love. Let me throw one more thing. Rest in peace. The penny Marshall to penny Marshall study what a talent that scene in big. That was all her idea. Yes, I heard that. Yeah. It was it in the script. But it was her suggestion. Right. Right. And Tom Hanks pulled it off the ever, man. What a great movie great Robert loggia pulled it off. Robert loggia was good in everything he was in the sopranos when he played feats. Yes. Anyway, rob I'm calling. I'm. Just a quick reference. Clint Eastwood always said and his dirty Harry movies. A man's got to know his limitations. And I think that applies to Nick foles and Carson Wentz where Nick foles knows his limitations. And Carson Wentz is still learning. Interesting. You know, Nick foles, you know, he's he's not gonna go out of pocket. And if he does somebody's gonna catch him he but with Carson Wentz, he's still learning that. Yeah, I think Jack, and I were talking about this during the break, I think what you saw from Carson this year. And we didn't see it last year at all. He started to really press and there were specific moments. If you remember the throw in the back of the end zone in London against Jacksonville. The the the not dumbing down to the small Smallwood in the Carolina game. You really saw it in a couple of first-half scenarios before the injury. That's the first time we saw those signs, but you know, what that's part of the maturation process. You're right. I think man's got the nose limitation. Joe let me add to that. I think physically he's still thought that maybe gets through some of the same things that he could Pri injury that he can't quite now, and he might be able to do next year. But rob, which here's me as you were hearing about these back injuries that he had when he was in North Dakota. We're North Dakota state and I've had back injuries. And although I think I'm healed. They never go away. I mean, I can hurt. My back time my shoes. They never go away. So you gotta ask yourself. It's awesome. It's worrisome. Rob always a pleasure. Great, my friend, brother, take care. Thanks, man. Utah. The injury thing is real. And concerning. For for a guy his age. There's a couple of ways you look at it. It hasn't been a recurrence of the same thing. However, wrist in college, the rib thing was fluky is is rookie year. And he came back and played right away. But you're talking about a wrist. And L C L L. And now a back now which is a stretch stress fracture. He doesn't need surgery. That's good. Whenever the back. It's caught on. You get really really worried. That's not the case. That's the positive, but yeah, I mean, I think the organization the fan base. You have every right to be a little trepidation about this. It's been a lot of stuff for a short period of time here for him. Max Allentown max here on ninety four to be IP. Hey amax. Great topic tonight. I'm gonna start off on a high note and talk about Bill Murray because he's my Saturday Night Live guy. Bill, Mary, I you know, what backs. I love Bill Murray. But I like him more post SNL movie Bill Murray, not great on SNL. But yeah, I hear you. It is so versatile is movies. I mean, groundhog day stripes, ghostbuster Caddyshack. How you beat that? And you know, the stuff he's taken on in his in his older years to sort of broader roles and stuff like that. Yeah. He's also always enjoy Roby. So without being said, all right, Nick foles is not a backup quarterback. This are starting quarterback for the problem is how you Rosamund didn't trade him at the beginning of the year or let him be the starter for the beginning of this year. Let Wentz rest that's the problem. Because now we have a quarterback controversy. Now. It falls did enough to merit starting this year and playing this year. So it's a man. Issue. Even here's the thing. I don't see I wouldn't have just given them away to avoid a controversy. Like, you weren't giving them away. To me. I wanted to one forum, and if I didn't get a one I would rather take my chances having him here. If Carson can't start the season. I love that that that safety blanket there. I think that helps you more than just getting a three four, but it's the dynamic. It's the locker room. It's the controversy. And here we are both guys don't deserve this. Okay. Both guys are class guys. They're not gonna say anything, but deep down full foes knows his worth he knows. He's a starting quarterback. He should be starting and Wentz based on his play. He deserves to be starting..

"Oh man. Is it getting later Lee for the NFC east and loud early in New York and interesting weekend for all parties involved. That really came to a nice crescendo last night as we got to Sunday night football, lots to get to there in the NFL. We've already got some answers and major league baseball in the postseason coming off the weekends and some more coming up in cluding, Aaron, judge making a nice statement walking out of Boston continues to make this guy the premier Yankee in this franchise in the perfect Derrick jeeter substitute. Now we'll get to all that. Shortly after we talk about Sunday night football because the Texans beating the Cowboys on its own is note worthy. Texans moved two and three on the year. After a bit of a lacklustre start, you've seen this team rounding into form. But you look at what it means for the Cowboys and for the NFC east and what a strange year one where we thought. The Philadelphia Eagles would continue to have their stranglehold on this division would pick up where they left off last year, especially once Carson Wentz got back on the field and healthy. Thought that the giants maybe infusing saquon Barkley into this lineup, getting a healthy, oh, Beckham junior back. And of course bringing back a UI manning that gamble there would pay off for them and everywhere you look, this division seems to.

"It's a very high bar. But I think the issue is going to be like, like you're saying, it's it's what Dak and those receivers can do. And he has very weak receivers. And you know, I have been ragging on the Texans a lot where the Texans are gonna shine in comparison. It's going to be the offense. Obviously, they're gonna be weaker at running back and off into line. But I think the Shawn Watson is substantially better. And I think the receivers are as well. Dak Prescott if we can make him and force him to be the one to win the game for the Cowboys. That's when the Texans have a shot at actually winning and land in Collins, parking cars in the garage. I don't even know what you're referring to. The Cowboys played the giants, Landon Collins. Remember we talked about this, you know, he said, oh, we gotta make beat us. And that became like the right line. It was. It was it was obvious and that was why it was silly that it blew up, but it was a lot of fun. So to talk about right. And I think the, you know, when you have JJ watt, David cloudy on the same line attacking the quarterback, like there's a lot of impact you can make and it's easy when you have guys, they're that talented going at the same time at full health. I mean combined, they had five sacks last week. I don't see doing well. It's if he's putting the situation where he has to go out and win the game for you guys. I think the Texans will win. It's just really, it's gonna come down to how well z can run the ball, and that's all that's it sounds so simplistic and trivial. That's really all the Texans can hope for is stopping Zeke. And if you can do that, you've got your shot. You're well on the record in my on the record. I mean, our text message history. With saying and believing that the Cowboys should have drafted Jalen Ramsey as opposed to. Week, and obviously this tremendous player and provides a tremendous side of what the Cowboys can do. Ofensive Lii. And as you mentioned, he is the guy that you have to stop if you want to beat them. What are your thoughts on this? Because you know, I think people misunderstand. It's a allow when I say it's a bit arrogant to sort of have that MO to sort of have this, the guy to stop Zeke. Because if they do guess what you're going to lose. And you have every right to beer. Again, I feel if you can, if you can go into Houston on Sunday night and if everybody that's involved with the Houston Texans says, okay, it's our main objective. Our primary objective we're gonna stop the and if you can beat them anyway, then yeah, Pounder chest arrogant be whatever you want. It's just a really. I don't wanna say fine line to walk, but it's a really limited, you know, tunnel vision, sort of frame to try to dance in. You know what I mean? Well, I'll expand a little bit. I think our secondary is very weak right now they've been playing poorly, but they've been underachieving. So I think with an average secondary or an average performance from your secondary. You can stack the box to stop Zeke and you can with Dallas receivers, you can easily try to contain them with simple man coverage, only maybe to safety or a single high safety..

"Cushing who saw just nine snaps in relief on sunday said this is a team that now this is about the last thing they wanted to here in with the texans that are the the qb situation is up in the air i know in targeted so my friends in use them they're just hoping shawn watson determine and saved the day but when you start off with all the emotion that they had on sunday and you play the way that they did at home for an all those fans it so badly wanted to get their minds of what had happened with the hurricane harvey and all the the destruction that's going on in that city once you get into a whole in owed to auto threehole at the beginning of the season so few teams are able to bounce back and if you're houston you have got to find some way to to the right the ship here in and this is the last thing they needed but uh i'm with you if they don't get it turned around him your you're at a point right now with all their other injury concerns in the question marks the at the major positions than what's going to happen next i think there are at that point already this critical point in week two of a long season yeah let's talk about actually the thursday night football game tomorrow and our expectations because last night meena filled in and we kind of had a chat about which quarterbacks we didn't wanna make too many assumptions about based on weak one but when you look at the texans and the way that they lost and the question they have the quarterback position and now pushing out this is a team that it's hard to expect much better now he can't get much worse and the bangles did arles alone the bengals it also lose their weak one game um but you know this offensive line makes questions about who to start at quarterback much more complicated right because you've traded up to get clemson quarterback to shawn watson you've originally stayed true to the to the claim that you wanted tom savage to start to have his experience to have this millier de what the offense in place and.
