"We'll talk about miles gaskin. He'll be on the losers list next week. I'm sure Jk mike davis. I don't know if you've got anything on this. But late in the game he hobbled off in the fourth quarter. I think in the final two minutes. So we'll check on mike davis but wayne goldman's they handcuff now but nyc davis didn't matter before he held off true and zach. Wilson is expected to miss some time with a knee injury. Hope you stash the bengals. Dst they get the jets next week. A little buyer sell and then we'll get into the winners and losers again by cell. Toronto taylor who may or may not play next week will revive. Brandin cooks is season cooks. Had twenty one yards on seven targets. And that's forty seven yards and three of his last four games so he's really struggling. Gets the rams next week so by herself. Tyrod taylor will revive ran and cooks this season. i'll buy it. I just hope that tyrod doesn't come back next week. The texans take on the rams next week gotta feeling that even toronto plays brandin cooks his knocking to have a very good game. Despite what khalif raymond did against those vaunted rams regardless after that rans game. it's dolphins by titans jets colts seahawks. Jags like brandin cooks. Season is going to be just fine. No matter who the quarterback is. I think all right calvin ridley is still a great bilo. After twenty six yards and a touchdown ten targets. Calvin really is still a great bilo buyer sell. I still think it's a. I think he's a good bi-lo and i think you can start to think of trying to buy even lower on him now than for this game. Do you have his asia in this game. I don't know if i do. Let me see if i can find. I saw a lot of short stuff a lot of short stuff with him. Because that's the problem. And everything. I saw two kyle. Pits was twenty five yards cow. Was there outside like x. Receiver today at least for the season was ten point eight. It was fourteen point three last year with me one second. I just don't like even if he's getting ten targets a game. It's almost like it's not. It's not the juju role but he's moving that direction. Kyle pits is eight. Dot was eighteen point five yards comedy routines eight six point eight. Where was i said. Weeden hearst in relation to thousand eight holy cow. That's terrible russell gauge he hidden hurts. Were higher. Ed like forty yards on one. Play right all right. So what are we doing buying or selling that. He's still a great bilo because he look. He's still getting double digit targets consistently. I'm holding calvin ridley. I'm selling that. He's a great bilo. Okay that's a good way to put it by herself brandon bolden seven percent. "Showing Here is Biden just openly lying to you again like the media is lying to you about there's a vaccine mandated Fox even though they know it's not true Here's Biden saying a $3.5 trillion bill is not only now he's doubling down on the likes he has no respect for you Not only is he saying it's going to cost you nothing Now he's saying this is great Not only is it going to cost you it's going to be a tax cut You're going to make money off this Here check this out Cost of the build back better Bill in terms of adding to the deficit is zero Zero Zero Because we're going to pay for it all In addition to that half of it is a tax cut Okay go eat something I don't have a cut coming for a while I want surprise you I promise When I see your head yeah you got some You got some time here Whatever you eat there go grab some Looks good Is it what a burger That's all I want to know It's not chicken fried steak when you are a Texan now Your New York bona fides are done Don't even go back to New York They won't even let you back in It's a good thing consider that a badge of honor So there he is Biden openly lying to again and as I said in the opening segment of the show you don't lie like this to people if you respect them If you care about them you only lie to people like that when you have a hatred in your heart for them You have zero respect for them right Now Biden knows full well that the $3.5 trillion percuss bankruptcy Bill which will bankrupt a bankrupt us and cause inflation like you've never seen before in your lifetime It'll cause a flood of 3.5 trillion brand new printed dollars in digital dollars to chase goods that don't exist I'm just asking you liberals out there even though your skulls are quite thick For a second to just digest something kind of in a common sense nugget If you're already acknowledging we don't have stuff It's locked up in ports because Biden couldn't figure out how to get people to work and truckers the truck and longshoreman to do it because he's anti supply side and supply side services If we don't have a lot of stuff now and there's shortages Do you think printing 3.5 trillion more dollars to chase stuff that doesn't exist What do you think that's going to do

"Field, stays on the practice field is able to get the reps, I mean, look, I don't think he's gonna be in all pro this season or pro bowler. I don't even know if he's gonna start for this team this year. But he has potential to be a starter. I think at left or right tackle, sometime soon, if he keeps developing and he his feet were unbelievable, he you can make the argument that he's one of the most athletic tackles that they've had in recent years. I think that Nate soldier was a pretty good athlete. I think that could just has better feet than solar did, soldiers a little bit more powerful. But when I see just out there, I see Michael orr from the ravens. I mean, that's what he looks like to me and Michael orr was a Pro Bowl level right tackle. I think that Ted Keras did a lot for himself in this game. He even cooked up a couple pancakes. I love it. Syrup on my pancakes in the morning. Steady teddy was really good in this game and you know that he's tough as hell. Not the most athletic guy. But I think he put himself in a mix. So I think with those two guys and I think Haran did Haran did well in this game. He did much better for him. So maybe he's a better left than he is right. I don't know. I was gonna ask you that I think that those guys could just cares and her on have now put some of the starters on notice and, you know, when you're talking about when you're talking about a wenu that if they don't get their butts in gear if they don't raise up a level and play where they're supposed to be playing, then they're going to be put on the bench because the Patriots have other options now. All right, there's one thing I wanted to ask you about. Actually, two things quickly, they kind of go hand in hand. First of all, your thoughts on Josh McDaniels play calling in the red zone and his play calling after the punt debacle by Houston. I still don't know what the hell that was about. But McDaniels, I thought, you know, it's time to give Mac the keys in the red zone. It's time to, you know, allow your quarterback to do more that the three straight screen passes was absurd. There's just some of these calls, you know, running on first and second down and getting stuck in third and long and then running a simple play on third down. That's not going to get you the I mean, there's some of these things. Again, big picture, I think McDaniels put this team in this offense in a position to succeed on Sunday. I just have issues with that red zone area Greg. And some of these sudden changes of possession, the.

"Book for over 25 years. Greg, we got to talk about this, Houston, Texans game. It was awful in the first half. It was better in the second half. I want to start with three things that you feel better or at least good about. Yeah, so let's just start with the passing offense in general, Nick. I did I did feel well actually, let's make number one just the offense in general because I think that I think that they're performance has been sort of undersold. I think that I think that they were efficient. It wasn't perfect and we know this. And we know the deal with the offensive line going in and we'll get to those guys. But I mean, you're talking about an offense, and they are going against Texans, I understand. And I don't just look at, you know, who they're playing and in the bottom line production. I look at other things like, you know, basically, are they executing? Are they executing better? Because when things don't work in football, it's because the players are not executing. People love to talk about play calling in this and that. But they're just really, are they blocking the guy in front of them? Are they running the right route? Are they catching the ball? Is the quarterback making the right decision? So look, the Patriots, you know, get the ball after the defense can never get off the field and for first quarter. They go ten plays for touchdown. The next drive, they go 8 plays and Damian Harris fumbles on, look, I thought it was a crappy call. I mean, I don't know, even on the all 22, it's not clear where he fumbles. To me, he I don't know how you overrule the call in the field, but I'm not really, I'm not one to complain about officiating calls. Before halftime, they do go 9 plays 42 yards getting position for a field goal. Jacoby Myers drops that pass. Yeah. That there was one there was one defender there. I doubt that he scores, but I do think he gets inside, say the 15 yard line at least. And now you're talking about maybe they have a chance. There's plenty of time on. So I think there was like about 50 seconds left when that pass happened. So now you're talking about an opportunity.

"This is the Greg bedard patriots podcast with Nick cabins powered by bet U.S.. All right, so before we get started, I think we'd be remiss if we did not congratulate the Boston Red Sox on getting to the ALCS, both Greg and I are big baseball guys. Congratulations to the Red Sox. Greg, did you think there was any chance this team was gonna make it this deep? Past the Yankees, yes. The rays, I thought it was going to be a long series. I thought it was going to go down to it. But this is a team that before the season I had to dig out my tweet, but I said something, I think it was on opening day. I was like, I think there's I think there's a little something to this team. You know, I was definitely excited about this team. You know, I'm a big Alex core fan. So I think that whatever the patriots, whatever the Red Sox might not have on paper, I think that he can make up for it sort of similar to Belichick. I hold Alice in that sort of level of head coach, you know, I think that what he's done with the Red Sox in a short time two trips World Series title now I think is almost Belichick in. And so I was I was high on them not high, but I was expecting more than a lot of people were. And, you know, look, they stumbled down the stretch in the regular season, but I still thought that they were a good team and I think that I think this is another this series with the rays Nick is another example of Moneyball just doesn't work in the postseason. It works for it's designed by computer nerds over a 162 games. And it works for you, but it's really hard to win, it's really hard to win much in the postseason because it gets shrunken down and the smaller the series, the tougher it is. And I think the numbers go out the window and a guy like Alex Cora and when you pluck players.

"As always by Alex barth and Alex, the title of today's show says it all. And this is where I want to start and you can decide, do we go with the positive takeaways from Sunday's game first or the negatives because this was an ugly game for about 34 35 minutes for the Patriots. They end up closing it out with a comeback victory over the Houston Texans in a comeback that felt totally necessary to save their season. You can't drop the one in four. So the Patriots save their season by coming back against Houston, but certainly a lot of negative takeaways from this game as well. Well, let's put it this way. We said all week that the Celtics were gonna have to escape from Houston with an ugly win. They escaped from Houston with an ugly win. Over the last two weeks, did I say Celtics? You did. I wasn't gonna. We were talking about the new Celtics floor before this. I'm sorry. We said our week, the Patriots were going to have to escape Houston with an ugly win. They came to Houston with another win. Over the last two weeks, the Patriots have put together one winning effort in one not so winning effort. They're one and one with those games. In those games, everything is going exactly the way we say. Don't look any deeper than that. I guess it ended up spear away. We can say that. I want to start with positives because I'm in a decent mood today. And let's start with the positives. And then we can get into some of the negatives. The biggest positive takeaway on the authentic side of the football for the Patriots. I guess you could go either way with that. One I think what you continuously see from Mac Jones is really encouraging. And I wrote my film review, took some shots at some people that are trying to downplay what we've seen from The Rookie quarterback through 5 starts because ultimately, I think that a lot of these people that are saying that what mat Jones is doing is not good enough or not impressive or they don't want to crown them yet..

"So the question really boils down to now is knowing that there are likely going to be down multiple starters on the offensive line is how do you still move the ball on offense with a patchwork offensive line? I mentioned the stats for the Texans against the run. 31st in dvor against the run 28th against play action passes from an analytics perspective. That's the way that you move the football on the Texans is to get under center, put the fullback in the backfield, run it on their four three over, and then put hit play action down the field. That's how teams have had success really for the last two seasons against this Texans defense. Now, there is the Mac Jones is better in the shotgun spread and we've been certainly banging that drum all season long. So there is that element of it too. Now the Texans are to me they're one of the most predictable defensive schemes that I've watched all year long..

"I'm Evan Lazar joined as always by Alex barth and Alex. We got a bunch of things to talk about today before we get into the game against the Houston Texans, the Patriots. Obviously, there's so much to get into in that game. The Patriots obviously traveling down to Houston on Sunday for a game against the lowly Texans. So we will discuss the game here in a bit, but we want to start with some of the bigger picture topics that happened on the team this week. Mainly beginning with the Stefan Gilmore trade in the Stefan Gilmore trade fallout here. I wanted to discuss quickly the sports radio topic right now Alex is about Bill Belichick and maximizing assets, right? And his failure in a couple of different instances over the last couple of years to get the most out of his good veteran players. Guys like Gilmore, I certainly somebody like Jimmy Garoppolo's name comes up every single time. We get into this conversation. So there's that angle of it, and there's also the angle of the domino effect on the Patriots defense and where the paths go from here, specifically, I would say with JC Jackson, but starting with the maximizing assets conversation. The Gilmore situation, I feel is very different than some of the other situations that people are comparing it to. And I'll tell you why in a second. But first and foremost, going back to Jimmy G, Brady's name has been thrown out there. Gronk's name has been thrown out there. To me, those situations were different because Bill Belichick was hanging on to those players to win football games with those players. And in a way I think he did the same thing was to find Gilmore as well. Bill clearly is prioritizing having those players on his football team for as long as possible over maximizing trade value more than the public that wants to come out and say, they should have gotten more for Jimmy G, or they shouldn't have led Tom Brady walk and only get a comp pick back. Clearly Belichick cared more about sucking a dry with Brady for as long as humanly possible than a trading the greatest quarterback of all time to get a first round pick back instead of a third round pick. And I don't really blame him for that. With the Gilmore situation, what I blame him for on this or second guess on this is not, I guess overrating his team, right?.

Carlson asked that question last night and has apparently repeatedly invited governor abbott on his show. Evidently governor abbott has declined because tucker keeps asking the texas governor. Why are you not deploying the texas national guard. Why are you standing up to the incompetent. Inept utterly failed biden harris administration on this issue. Here's a. Tucker carlson said last night we opened the show with horrifying pictures. What's happened at our southern border. Which is completely open in. This country is being invaded. No that's not an overstatement more than a million people this year expected by the rest of the world. It's been going on for months. And we've asked texas governor greg abbott many times to come on this show to explain why he hasn't called the national guard to seal the texas border and protect the rest of us from this invasion. Greg abbott has refused to come on repeatedly so pretty soon possibly tomorrow we plan to invite his primary opponents on this show to describe what they would do if they ran texas. That might be an interesting conversation. Governor abbot one. More chance to come on sincerely. Please come on and tell us how you plan to save the rest of us. What is happening in your state. "Is even more horrifying And we have the Montgomery County judge here in Texas, which is near Houston. Who posted on Facebook yesterday, the day before. I'm not sure if you saw it where he right. He wrote out the 2000 Texans that were benefiting from the treatment that they had put in place to have a clinic or set up there to run these mono monoclonal antibody treatment. And it was successful. And this is where the vaccinated and unvaccinated and then now you've got the Democratic leadership in Washington coming in and saying no, no, no. We're going to step in and interfere with the market and create a problem that didn't really exist. And I look, I wrote a letter to the HHS on Monday, lighting them on fire about this and raising this issue up the flagpole and then load the whole We get 24 hours later, they were gonna have a briefing on Friday. We had that briefing today, Mark And I asked twice. I got cut off. And then I got back in Q asking a second time. Hey, how many, Uh, doses do you currently have a supply? How many can be made per month and what's the demand? You tell me the numbers. You show me how there's some massive national shortage that you've got to interfere, and they would never answer the question. Literally, he said. Well, we'll just have to get back to you. The numbers to wait you're stepping in and rationing care. Rationing what Texas can get, and you can't even tell me what the numbers are its political. They started off of saying seven states have 70% of the demand on this stuff and get never mind in January. It'll be 10 different states Mark because we know how this virus works. And yet that's what they're doing. It's political. It's purposeful and people's lives at stake. And they're doing it because they don't want to talk about treatment. Not just this. That's gonna come out in a few hours here. The thing that really is kind of a question here is are the texans going to be able to run the ball in short yard situation and they were not doing that. Very effectively Whenever you saw them platoon three y three tight ends at once marking room. The only one getting ball at that time and most of the time whenever it was third one or or in the goal line situations they were getting stuff on all of them. I mean he had. I believe it was four carries for you. Know or five carries for four yards in those situations got stopped on a third-down couldn't punch it in the goal line. Sometimes that that's going to be one of the biggest issues here because this is the jaguars. Defense such struggle lately and they had to restructure the entire front and they had to manufacture those yards short yardage situations to be able to get the minimal yards that they were able to there. If you're if you're going to found the offense on a ground game to open up everything else whenever you get in those situations. They're going to your guys not able to do it. That's going to be a problem And you know tyrod. Taylor did get away with a couple of throws mean. It's very first throw was authority out outside. That almost got ticked off like they were instances that they played clean football. But are they going to be able to overcome those things whenever they're not picking up first down whenever there are..

NFL Picks and Predictions Ahead of Week 1

"About the nfl week. One right around the corner where you been doing. Our nfl picks podcast tomorrow. But is there any sort of early liability that you're already having to move numbers a little bit just based off of where the actions coming in. I've seen a number of small road favorites even non conference road favorites which typically red flag. But i'm having trouble talking myself into some of these dogs as a as a senior trader. Is there something you're keeping your eye on there like an eighty twenty split already that you're you're seeing so you don't like the lions and i do to live not not to win outright but san francisco strikes me as that team the forty niners that is going to ruin everyone's survivor contest. Everyone's three-team teaser. They're just it's too easy. I've been gambling for too long and al and you know as as the guy works behind the book bets like those. It's too easy dangerous showing you. I mean you're talking to guys who are considering the texans one mixture of lawrence and three point road. Favorite team was more than fifteen last year in survivor pool. You have to go those routes if you pick the same stuff everybody else that's gonna pick you're never gonna win. Need those good teams at the end of a chance. Someone all so i don't this respect. Respect the texans. But you know i think basically when you go into week one you know what sides are going to need right. We're going to need the lions to beat parleys. We're going to need bears games interesting. I think that we'll we'll see some decent sharp action that's been driven up. They still have the shawn watson we know. Travelers is gonna be good but peyton manning threw how many picks in his rookie season a little rough. So i don't think that's a slam dunk. Our road road favorite. But yeah i mean you know who are gonna need the near the bears against the rams.

"The texans like thirty to one to win the division if that if that comes out there like what's the extreme of the neighborhood center applying if if watson is gonna play like something comes out that like likely that this is going to be held up until february watson's gonna play this year goodell's knocking suspend him under whatever caused it is and we could see watson actually play this year for houston i man. You're talking about a situation. that's so like narrow. I think it's quite possible. We go into the season thinking that he will play. But we're never going to know that it's like definitely season. Because i just feel like the commissioner hammer is gonna drop at any time if we get to that point right like it's such a pipe dream thing to be like commissioner says definitely not like next week would have to be when this happens. Commissioner goodell says definitely no punishment for watson this year. He has free to play the entire season. Basically i just want the optics of that are horrific. That's never gonna happen. I think it's at least gonna linger if anything and to be like. You're not wrong but like they have they've bungled stuff like this. Oh sure but it would be a bungle. I think we agree on. That wouldn't be like this. Be our tactical cincinnati rats. Yes so i think it's just like the watson positive outcomes cloud things if it's if it's possible that you could receive word that he was going to play the entire season i do think thirty two one is like i mean people are gonna laugh but like that's how crazy it is. I mean. what would you rank him among starting quarterbacks right now in the league like ish me like tier six to seven that okay if you have a guy in that tier no matter what the roster is around him. The team can win the division. And we'll just can't actually at one point one percent chance right there. It's a combination of that and the price. Like if i tell you that and then you're like they're two to one. Okay then. i'm not interested thirty two one. Okay let yes like. We have to leave that door open. "Projecting them to win seven more games than to go under six and a half this year. I think trevor lawrence is too good. I think this is not a roster. That's devoid of talent like they've got talent caught up on both sides of the ball. I'm not insinuating. This is like twelve point. Team got contend for afc championship certainly not contend for super bowl championship. I don't think that's going to happen here. I think the team is too good and plays in this division to go under six and a half wins. If you told me we would switch the jets and the jaguars and yuba jacksonville in the afc. East with miami new england buffalo under all day every day but in this division here with the tennessee team that i like but is flawed very flawed. I think defensively could be flawed in the run game with derrick henry like historically unlikely that continue the dominance. He's had on the ground with the colts being a team. Can that you and i think dumpster fire potential the houston texans being a team that everyone with a pulse thing says dumpster fire potential. That leads me to want to go over on the jaguars when total of six. And a half and you know. I like that. Division bet as well for the reasons outlined at plus fifty. I want to quickly touch on three receiving props here. We don't have running back props because we don't know what's gonna happen with robinson and high with e. t. n. out for the season. Dj shark eight. Seventy five and a half. Marvin jones said she wants marvin jones. Eight twenty five and a half and la viscous chenault eight hundred and a half. My favorite of these three receivers in terms of upside is chenault by a long shot. What we've seen though thus far in the preseason and training camp is that chenault is unlikely to play unless it's three wide receiver sets and then you're going to see viscous journal. I don't know if he's going to be one of the starting receivers into wide receiver sets. We don't know. Dj charge is going to be one of the starting receivers in too wide receiver sets. So i think there's too valuable best to be made here. As far as the receiving core goes with the player props. Dj under eight seventy five and a half as easy as it gets for marion reasons. Urban meyer is talk crap about chart this off season. I don't like dj shark this year under for him. You can't bet chenault overrun. I like the talent but like is going to have that role to go over. And i think he's going to run the ball a lot. Also and marvin jones with daryl babble the familiarity. They're coming over from detroit. I think he's going to be lawrence's number-one option so chuck under marvin jones over twenty five and a half gallon for some receiving props for the jaguars. Yeah no love. That hadn't heard that analysis going in the player props quite as much as you didn't know that the chart urban meyer relationship was that was that chart literally said like chart played small last year finger injury now like i. It's up to be bullish on chocolates. You're just as he walked around. Walked around the keyboard michigan outfits. Does i just really not a deer himself to coach all right. So that's the jacksonville. Jaguars two hours down two more to go on this monday. Power hour still come all our beds for tonight but two days three days continues next with the broncos and.

"John the short answer is we don't know the nfl doesn't know to shawn. Watson doesn't know and the texans don't know that's our own sara barshop on outside the lines acknowledging just a few of the unknowns in the disturbing saga of deshaun watson but that number twenty two as in the twenty. Two active lawsuits filed by twenty. Two different women is why those questions have only just begun today. Why the f. b. i. is involved in this case. Why watson's accusers say the. Nfl is asking the wrong questions. And why the superstar quarterback is still showing up to work for a team that he wants to escape. I'm pablo torre. it's monday. August twenty third. This is espn daily. Sarah barshop. you're our houston. Texans beat writer. Thanks for coming back on. Espn daily thanks for having me back. So the texans won their game saturday. They beat the cowboys. Twenty two fourteen. We're going to talk more about how the teams looked in a football context and a bed but the most notable fact of the entire proceeding. Sarah is the fact that texans quarterback to shawn did not play was surprising to you at all now. It wasn't because right now. The texans are kind of acting for the most part that he's not really part of this team in terms of him being on a football field in playing in a game and david kelly. When he talks about the quarterbacks he's mostly talking about the other quarterbacks on the roster. I mean they really. Don't talk about shawn watson in football context so he didn't play in the first game against the packers he didn't play against the cowboys and i'd be surprised to see him in the preseason finale against the buccaneers david kelly. Of course the new head. Coach of the texans sarah and yes to shawn watson sat out against the packers. The texans had one that preseason game also for whatever that's worth twenty six to seven but watson and how the team talks about him and his absences. How would you characterize how they do that. It's very much avoiding the topic. And from the very beginning. David kelly if he heard john watson's name really kinda of deflected the question and would say not much has changed. Or there's nothing new with watson even if that wasn't really an applicable answer to the question nothing new on the sean nothing new today on and last week for the first time. He talked about watson more and elaborated on him. Johnson here Again every day. He's here to in works he does. He does what we asked him to do. And you know he's here today but it was never really in a way of okay. He's gonna play in these games. So what we talked about with you on this show back in march. Sarah is still true today. Which is that. The shawn watson faces more than twenty lawsuits filed against him for sexual misconduct and sexual assault. That is the story here. There is a separate criminal investigation. That's going on involving several of the same women in those lawsuits but just to clarify for everybody. Here shawn watson still has not been arrested on any criminal charges and so he is allowed to play into practice. Is that how all of this works. Basically at right and for training camp the nfl came out with a statement. Basically saying we done some investigating into this but we haven't completed our investigation and deshaun watson is eligible to take part in all team activities and the texans first of all didn't really know if he was going to report training camp. They weren't sure the night before. They weren't really sure that saturday night and when he did report they still thought maybe the nfl with them. Put them on. The commissioner's exempt list before training camp practices. Actually start in. That didn't happen yet from a four sarah. All of this looks not just awkward but deeply uncomfortable for everyone involved shawn watson included his employers included. And i'm just watching from afar. But it's hard to avoid the fact that this is a star quarterback who was very publicly famously wanting out of the houston texans and so the idea that this same quarterback who is now facing more than twenty lawsuits for sexual misconduct and assault is showing up reporting to training. Camp i mean what were the consequences. If he didn't do that because it sounds like he kind of had to write. How do you not reported. He would have been fined. Fifty thousand dollars per day of training camp and this is a little different under this new. Cba that fine can't be forgiven by teams so we've seen in the past where someone would hold out. There was on a new contract or the issue is resolved and those fines would be forgiven. That's not the case with watson. And so he felt the need to show up so he's not fine. So here's the shawn watson showing up to practice but doing so kinda sporadically. It seems like like he's there some days he's not there other days or maybe he is but he's somewhere that reporters like you cannot see him. Maybe sarah just walk me through a day of covering this team. What that's like for you because you show up on site. What's the scene like in terms of the media gathered here covering the story what happens so day one of training camp. It was a very large media group. I don't know how many people thought he would actually be there and be reporting but there is media to see whether he would be and since then. It's been a lot of local media. I think the attention is kind of died down even though the story has changed a lot during camp while when colley talks before practice and said he's not gonna address whether anyone is practicing it kind of avoids that question until the next morning availability so we talked to david kelley and then i usually walk over to where i can see the players entrance and we can see the players. Walk down the steps and into the practice field. Keep an eye out for shawn watson. i'll usually take video or photo as he walks by oppose that video and then i'll update twitter. Say whether he is. They're not and then i'll walk over to the other practice field in watch the quarterback's throw in the started practice. And so that's how we get a moment like the one last week. I presume sarah where he snapped at reporters because obviously the media does have this lingering curiosity about whether he's even going to be there on any given day right and i think because the story has changed so much right. It's not like he's been there every single day and there's a video of walking every single day that's not the case. We are there to see if he's practicing and so as we were recording he walks by and says. Why are you guys recording. It's the same thing every day. And he walked off into the bubble and didn't seem too happy and that was the first time he had spoken to us at all during training camp and really since the end of last season so just to be clear than it is not the same thing every single day. It's actually quite the opposite as you have experienced it. Yes absolutely and it seems that it's followed some sort of pattern because for week one. He took part in all four practices week to he didn't take part at least where we were standing for any of them the third week he was there for all four and then the fourth week which was last week. He didn't take part in any practices with his teammates. But on thursday we did see him on the side field stretching in working out with a trainer during practice. And sir what is he wearing in terms of wearing his uniform wearing the red. Don't hit me on a quarterback jersey. What is this whole thing. Look like so those two weeks weeks one in three of training camp. He has been dressed the same way as teammates although he has had that red jersey on when we saw him last thursday when he was just working out on the side field he was just workout. Clothes was not dressed to participate in practice. The one thing collie did tell us last week. Was that deshaun. Watson is getting his work done he said just. Because you're not.

"Sports. Talk seven ninety. We will continue this. The shawn watson talk and you guys can take where you want to now that he showed up for training camp which i suggested on friday that he should or would do on our morning show pre before he did it. Because i didn't think i mean why wouldn't you. Nothing prevents you from showing up to camp. Don't get fined. Don't cut off your nose spite your face. Show up make them deal with it and get rid of the fine fifty grand as that gets hefty. That's a lot of money. No matter how much money you make and here he is now. It sits solely on what the texans are going to do. They know he doesn't wanna be there but he's there to your practice or do you not try to trade him which there's talk that they are now open to trading him. What's the commissioner to do. What's going on with the legal. And when all is settled as the shawn watson still want to be there and even if he's not traded and he's not and he's allowed to go to camp even though he doesn't wanna be there will he just decide to keep playing and keep collecting a paycheck and doing his thing until they decide to do one thing or another with them and until he decides i'm done but apparently if they run them out there with reps during camp will he show up if nothing's done and opening day starter for the houston texans if nothing else changes between now.

"They rolled off the tongue. But the offense, the Jets, the Niners. We know the team two other ones, Maybe on the outside looking in that are Somewhat connected as a distinct possibility to acquire released. Try to acquire the shore. Watson from the Texans one team now that's beginning to emerge, and I went so far as to actually I saw a proposed trade would be the Las Vegas Raiders, All right. The proposed trade was such now the Raiders would just get Watson, which is obviously a lot. He's great Top five Top six quarterback the Houston Texans would obviously get their car. They would get Darren Waller, one of the top 34 titans football. No grants we had on the show the other day ice I agree multiple and two first round picks. Whoever said that is is doesn't know Jon Gruden. There's no way in hell. They're getting rid of Darren Waller because we know that that tight end position when you have that guy who is that decided, mismatch who you can move around and play with wide. That is a tight end. The X, which is the outside receiver or the Z, which is the slot receiver dare wallet can do all of those things. There's no way you're getting rid of him. So sounds interesting, but I don't think so. Well, now if there were other pieces Yeah, I'm gonna give up. Sure, but their wallet's not going anywhere. All right, maybe your substitute. Maybe they don't love rugs. We know we know what he runs but didn't have a great rookie year. Maybe the Texans say, Hey, we're gonna lose wil Fuller. No ties, no ties to rugs. No doubt about it. Look at one. Go and let you go. Even though you might be getting rid of a guy who develops into a star in the second season, A lot of rookies have problem especially smaller, wide receivers. They have problems with the speed and the physicality. At the NFL level, but you see pretty quickly the next year they they've got to figure it out a little bit better. Given the pedigree, you know the new recent pedigree of Alabama wide receivers, I'd say he's gonna be really not really is coming. Like the last 10 years or so, because Julio Jones Mark Cooper has been some great wide receivers have come out of you have been released. Pretty good. Ridley is very good, right? I mean, I would bet that he'll figure it out. But it's not a guarantee. But I agree with you bt if if, if Dare Wall is not going anywhere, But if you want to move drugs, I'd be open for that if I was the Raiders, But here's the thing Like okay now Have on the Texans. I not That course not good. He's fine. Yeah, he's above average. He's a top 15 quarterback in the NFL, but he doesn't do anything for the elevation for for accelerating the rebuild for me, if in my opinion if I'm running the Texans now That's why, you know, maybe two was more appealing. If you like to. Ah, certainly in its second pick. If you want to strike a deal with the Jets, I could pick whomever on one outside of Trevor Lords. I could even trade down and take another quarterback. Get more. Get back more pics. Like that, like that. That doesn't make any sense to me. And even if the shore Watson's on the Raiders, right if they don't seriously upgrade the defense because the offense is not the problem, they score points, man. He scored 40, I think was 42 against the Chiefs. When they beat him like they score. They just don't stop anybody. Yeah, The issue is the is there's not that difference maker on the defensive side of the ball. Don't have players over there. Um, but none that air you know, you're looking at going. I'm scared of that guy. Um, And so I mean, that's true. That's true. Then he said, No, That's right. I was thinking maybe maybe Abram Abram. Yeah, but he's gotta get healthy, Be consistent, and he hasn't been I've been there, You know, doing that last game? That's what that's what Gruden was talking about. He's like I just need to see him play and be consistent and show us why we drafted him. Um, I guess Max Crosby is probably their leader. Their defensive end. Who's a good boy? Around? Pick a player gets the quarterback over overachiever. Without a doubt. He's the kind of guy you love to have on your on your squad. We just I don't want to be in the best of my defensive line. That's that's exactly right. Like you need guys like that. But if he's your best pass rusher and disruptor than you, probably middle of the road, and that's not a knock on Maxie College. Excellent. I love the guy, but they need they need someone who is walks in respects. Everybody in the league respects that he's gonna Eat there, but every weekend, they don't have that guy on the defense side of the ball. No Max Crosby, remember, he was great in hard knocks. I love his journey. Smaller schools Ryan, There is kind of overachieving. I guess you could say he's gonna wind up having a 10 year career and Probably having 100 sacks in the neighborhood and be like, Look what this kid did out of nowhere. I have so much respect for people like that, and then the sport and then he walked a life but like I just need to know I need to know. No. What they're saying I need to know what the Texans air thinking. I would love just one shot right after they get the vaccination, then rejected with truth serum? Yeah, I want to know if they really believe like they if they are Never used the right word. I don't want to know if they are naive enough if they are naive enough to think that they can change the short Watson's mind. Like if they again I know what they're putting out there for public consumption. I don't need it..

"Give her the big old middle finger to let's let's like inexperienced tiny banks raise as baldwin bass right he fees on that blitz bill check This was the stat. He was in this game five hundred for his career. So this'll be the last time it'd be five hundred right. Sure because you'll never 'cause he goes on his massive win streak and he'll never lose them in a row so Not only was he five hundred but he was sixty nine sixty nine. Ooh nice so so. Yeah i mean you can watch this game just for that. If you want times damon that stack comes up in our question tonight. Screenshot and i'm like i did go back and find out how the highlights on the website true. It should be right after that. The possession. Tom brady throws a stupid pick. It's our twenty nine so like if the patriots added just play like a bunch of assholes would've won the game easily but they just turned it over and terrible times on so lucky killed drives and just let the texans hang around and actually take a pretty good lead right so instead of like putting the game way. They're like the the each side of the half score. A couple points in the middle there and being up by a couple of scores because they went into the halftime ten three could been thirteen three and then like score. Get on the second half now. Europe by t. scores instead picked off. Texans start at the patriots eleven. I think it was like two plays later. Under johnson and a touchdown so now it's game ten ten good about themselves but then brady in true brady. Fashion gets the ball back in storms. Right down the field again in like fuck you mode. This is where he hits. J stokes to get inside the ten yard line one yard bomb. Yeah that was that was j j stokes snapdragon siding. Yeah of the game. It's going into brady sack on third down the last player the third quarter so fourth quarter starts viteri hitting a short field goal which actually makes so off the schneide again kind of an hour in the fourth quarter and this is where ships kinda of goes a little wild because it's ten ten at the end of the third in this game ends twenty. Three twenty in overtime left in overtime right so and vegetarian just kicked a field goal to make it thirteen ten. Just this quarter. You know you don't need to see. Yeah that's what i'm saying. So skip to the fourth quarter. We'll talk you through all of it you should. We should mark what time that starts so does get the video started. F you should buy lots of forty five minutes probably is it just started the second half but yeah and the game is on youtube can find on the website posted a link in the show notes to the websites you can find all this stuff dynasty dot info. That's right where i used to think. It was a lot when you first started this website. die nasty. It is like nasty. And all like he didn't say dynasty is like peaches dynasty nasty nasty and the dynasty. But they're forget year. I bet you did well. I mean it is because you can't read probably so that's what you want out. Boy steve.

"Things that bother me as there tends to be they were i learn new trick or they were told to do this but they loved telling you what. The defensive alignment was. Don't patriots out four all out in a four six. The they're playing dying or nickel you know. Is it five percents of backs for texan. Say no but they didn't like us that information for anything useful. They just like told you. We were goes. Oh that means. The texans are expecting pass. But they didn't even do that. They just like all the texans come out in the three four like well. I guess some of us here in the smart enough to know but at times he was like. Oh they only have to doubt. The texans only have to down lima. Like that's cool like expand on these are the only two teams in the holy plane with before. So he's making a comment on how to defenses are some of the only two in league and stroke of luck. Who's coaching the team. Don't capers who ends up. You know playing coach with the patriots. He doesn't it can call unlike their defensive. Coordinator fangio was a car broncos head coach. I didn't know his the dc yup and he's not doing great head coach whether or not it's the broncos situation or him clean air away they're twelve and twenty two years there which is a three seventy five win percentage for those of you keeping knows better his first two years in nam. He's he's improving from defense coordinator for stint head coach. I in about the same. Yes but they were also talking about how given an he had scored an overtime touchdown against the broncos or something which i don't he just mixed up the games us talking about the miami game like oh yeah in in overtime against miami well tribe is like no actually no given caught the overtime touchdown against the broncos i know they haven't been in overtime against the broncos since whatever he's thousand game was intense you know it felt like it overtime. Game with the fake with the intentional safety. In jeddah i guess but had the had the drama intensity of overtime. I don't know and lastly on commentator shitting on the commentators section of the podcast by andy brown I believe it was rainy across the talking about the the patriot. Biggest problem was that They had so many starters that They will dilute their own pro bowl votes. They won't have anybody going to the pro bowl because they've.

twelve first two years two teams andy brown twenty two years two five percents broncos three texans three seventy five texan fangio miami many starters four six thousand game jeddah

"And Touching on that wing played. Played us. he this was the first time the entire season having a hundred yard game. He attuned six carries one hundred sixteen yards and one touchdown he was. He was definitely the reason that when he let me change that he's not the reason that we lost but he was definitely a huge factor in why we lost the game and I would like to shut him down on. This is one of those games where Carlos high needs to be stopped John. De'andre Hopkins under Shawn Watson. That's a big enough three headed monster to beat some other teams here in the League. But it's just that's not firepower for the chiefs especially coming off the bye week and Andy Reid. Big Red is twenty two and four after bye week including the play offs and look. I look for that to continue. I'm sure you do as well. The big question is I wonder what spags record is coming off the bye week with all of that time for him to prepare for one team. I guarantee you that the SPAGS hasn't tricks up his sleeve as well and also given the fact that he's scenery the Texans once already this season we we basically know know what to expect from these guys. Yes and I look for. This is a scenario which we'll talk about a little bit later on. I'm going to bring it up right now. How I do want to talk about the chiefs? Home winning percentage since two thousand and three at seventy lead seven thirty two is winning percentage at home since two thousand and three that near tops the league and and I figure that that's obviously obviously Arrowhead Stadium Home Field advantage and as that going to be another scenario that we can ride on here in this divisional playoff game. I believe you know. Every seat will be packed in that house. And I hope to not see Texans Fan. What do you think Chris Homefield advantage here? How much does that affect this game? Well you're touching on the home field advantage let me throw a couple more stats. So this the Texans Dr Seventeenth on the road in points allowed with nearly twenty four a game. They're last on the road in yards allowed as one of only two teams allowing four four hundred or more yards also last on the road yards per play an line of rude.
