"Music, radio and podcasts. All in one, alright enough of the death and violence and maybe something onto a little lighter here to close out the show this morning. And that is that tonight? What a beautiful night at Starlight driving that's in Amelia, and the party starts in the party starts like it's seven o'clock now live band and all that. But there's a baby of a movie. A man you may have heard of called Marty Brennaman. He retired and the movies How we looking. It's about his His long, storied career behind the microphone and the Reds on radio booth. And he's on the show Now, Marty, my friend, how are you? I'm very well. Bologna. How are you? I'm hanging in there. I'm living the best life I possibly can. It's a great night, Teo. I was I was thinking, while the only thing worse now is like, let's have where they have rain on Monday night, but the weather's going to be perfect for driving tonight. Yeah, we're lucky I I've been paying close attention to the last four or five days and it looks like we're really going to get a great night tonight, and I hope that a lot of people show up. I think it's going to be an interesting evening without any question. And then for a hot minute, we thought the Reds may be playing a double header, which kind of would've messed things up somewhat, But you know, it turns out, I guess the Kobe Testament. And how about you know before we get into the baseball season You know, we speculated this. I think we talked about this a two beginning when they decided they're going to move forward, and I'm glad they did. I'm glad we released playing ball. But I don't understand how like the Cardinals have a chance. And now the Reds, you know, every team's got bitten by the bug. There's no doubt but how do you decide who truly is the world champion? If you're playing a limited number of games and then having that schedule cut down because the players are testing positive. You know, I don't know. I they, You know a lot of the criticism that's been levelled against a game and I've been one of them because I'm not a big fan of the commissioner of our game. But I think that a lot of this things that they've had to deal with a dealt with him on the fly simply because They've never been confronted by anything like this in the history of this country, apparently the ones that have been that are currently involved in decision making. Um and God forbid we ever have to go through anything like this again. So I don't know. But I think you would be ashamed if the Cardinals ended up playing 50 games and they're really gonna have to bust their butts to get that many and then they are one of the postseason clubs because of the winning percentage. And a team that played 58 to 60 games had a great year, but they don't get in because they're winning percentage is not good enough. I got a problem with that. I don't know how they can deal with it. But It's unfortunate. Marty is okay. Marty's on record now. He does not like Rob Manfred. I know you didn't like Bud Selig of the only commissioner that you work for in your curd that you like to still kind of some Atlantis. Correct? Yeah. Yeah, they're gonna be in the movie. In fact, I have a thing hanging on my wall with his name on it. I think Ford that's awesome. Well, if you hang around long enough, they make movies about you, but it's and I haven't obviously not seen it yet. Have you seen the final cut? I have not Okay. The guy who put it all together. Terry. Luke Meyer was over last week at our house, and he asked the man and I had you all want to see it. Manage that? Yes, I would like to see it. I said, no, I don't want to see it. And so you know, my my decision prevail. I have tremendous faith and in Terry's ability, artistic ability and decision making and What I see. Tonight will be the same thing that everybody else sees for the first time. So that's another reason why I'm looking so forward to it. All right. The live music starts at seven. You could drive up and still get a ticket. If you're looking for something to do tonight going, you know what? Let's go to the driving. It's a beautiful night. And maybe you know you can sleep in a little bit tomorrow. Work a little later. Whatever. It's certainly worth it, too. Last time I drive. When's the last time we had to drive And what do you see the driver? Actually, the red community fund. Yeah, Attorney ready freaking had that deal down. I don't know, weeks ago. Well today, two nights before opening quote, opening day and we went out there that night for that event, and it turned out to be very nice People do a great job out there and they're not too many good things that are coming out of this pandemic. I think one of them, however. Is for those drive in theaters that are still open and operating. A resurgence has taken place and I think it it will be something that will hang around long after we have a vaccine in this stuff goes away. They do a great job, and I'm sure tonight will be no exception. Last one last thing I started driving his independence Day. With Will Smith back in. Jeez, What was that, like, 96. I want to say. Where was it? You know which one was the what? Movie Theater or what? I think it was up near in Northwest. I think was near Toledo because we're living up there at the time. Yeah, Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Well, that's probably which was really a good one to Ah, that closed years ago, but this one is hung in there. They do a good job. Yeah, that's cool. Marty Brennaman is on the show this morning. How we lookin premieres tonight. The Starlite Drive in theater in Amelia. You get tickets. If you roll up there tonight, everything starts about seven with a band. And as you get closer to the school will start. The movie is about two hours in length. And basically, Terry and his crew followed me around for the for your entire last season. Well, he did. It was in and out type of thing. Thank you. I appreciate the fact that the club gave him pretty much the access that he needed, Um, to videotape things that he thought were necessary and For inclusion into the documentary, especially the last day on September 26 last year and Ah I ah, that would not have. I don't think the video the documentary would be nearly as good without Him having the kind of access that he had. And you know, he travel around getting interviews with people that he wanted to include Kirkirt streets of Buddy of Mine. They went to national Got that or admire up in Columbus and So they travel around, talk to a lot of people. And, um you know those people. I'm indebted to you because I appreciate the time that they allowed to be involved in it. Um, were you are you surprised at Terry approach or someone approaches that? Hey, you know what? We think your story is so interesting. Want to make a documentary about it? Is that Yeah, I was good. I mean, I You know, That's not something you think about. You know, you don't think? Well, you know, I've had a pretty good career. Maybe somebody will be interested in doing a documentary and the point I want to clear up for some people. Some of these Dumb ass fuel partner. Impression on Twitter have have have implied that I got paid a handsome so I could get one dime to do this. The proceeds from tonight's event. We'll go to the Reds community fund. So I want to clear that up to make sure people understand. I did not get paid..

"I've said this publicly a couple of times. I think that the chemistry that he and Jeff Brantley have already forged is really pleasing as a listener. But the first game happens. They're playing the Tigers. We do Ah, pregame show I get in the car after watching a couple of innings from the Holy Grail I get in the car. And it's not Marty. Nothing against Tommy. It's not Marty, and that's when it hit me. Not was 10 10 months after he actually called his last game. That's when it hit me that he was no longer behind the microphone. Yeah, and, you know, look, I mean, like, he said, I have gotten the absolute pleasure to know Tommy and I think Tommy is going to be fantastic. And I'm excited that he's He's part of the team. They're impossible shoes to fill. But if you also think back that you know on we touch on this, Marty had to fill the shoes of Al Michaels. So it wasn't like Marty came into an easy Unease situation to just, you know, be welcomed by red chance. It's something that he earned over time. And I think Tommy Khun do that. And I think Brantley, being his partner and sort of already earning that kind of reputation here in Cincinnati himself will play a big role in that moving forward. But, you know, Martyn, the re occurring theme throughout. This is that there won't ever be another Marty Brennaman and I feel like that that that would be The biggest thing Tommy could try to do would be to do another to be another Marti. And I think if he just tries to be Tommy will be fine, and that just makes us appreciate. All the time that we had with Marty because there's a lot of markets that aren't lucky enough to have a guy around that long. And for sure that, you know, I mean, he called himself a Cincinnati and he wasn't here. But now We've made him one of our own. And that's just the major out of the city is if we bring in, and we like it were Cincinnati for life. Josh need is with us the event Monday night. Let's Let's talk about that specifically Starlight drivin in Emilia. How we look in the world premiere, which is being presented by the Reds community fund Josh is with this is one of the producers of the film. All right. Everything that goes down on Monday take me from from from the beginning of the event to the end. So 7 p.m. I think the gates actually opened at six. But at seven PM there'll be live music from Catalina Wine Mixer. Just sort of said a nice little atmosphere for people is they're getting parts and settled in at eight o'clock. I will be hosting a Q and a with Marty and Terry Luke Meyer, the director. If you've seen 41 90 to the counting of the kicking the awesome P Rose documentary that was also done by Terry. So we'll have them and hopefully some special guests as well. Um, then we'll start the movie right at nine o'clock, and it's Ah, It's about two hours. It was very tough to get the movie down to two hours. We had so much amazing footage and if you go to our Facebook page for the movie You can see several of the outtakes, which I think are very entertaining, but also they're they're so good that when you see it, you're like man of thes did make the finals. They should get you excited to see the final. Yeah, I'm looking at the Facebook page right now. Marty Brennaman, how we look and check it out. It's on Facebook. Let me ask you this. If you cannot make the event on Monday, where, Where else might the film be shown? That's that's up in the air right now. So the next step for us now that the film is finished, is to try to find distribution. So we have no idea where that's going to be. We're going to submit it to some film festivals and obviously shop it around, and we think at some point in the near future, and it'll be on a streaming service or some type of network. Showing or maybe we'll just sell copies of it, uh, through the community fund, But that's why I encouraged people that want to see the movie. Any Reds fan is going to love this movie. If you can make it on Monday, it could be your only chance to see it for a while because it's just a one time sort of red carpet premiere 2020 style at a drive in on DH. I think I think people are really gonna love it. But it will be your only chance to see it for a while this month. Congratulations on getting the project done. Hopefully, Monday night is a success. I'll be sitting here working, so hopefully there's ah method of distribution that allows me to see it because I have Ever since the beginning of this when I heard you talk about it, I've I've wanted to see if the trailers the outtakes looks look awesome. So best of luck on Monday and then you know, keep me in the loop because toe toe when somebody like me can see. And after Monday night, okay? Sounds good, man. I appreciate it. Anytime. And Josh need I appreciate a man Thanks so much. Hiya, Marty Brennaman, how we looking it? That's the Facebook page. The event is Monday. Gates at six program starts at seven o'clock with the pre movie concert. Q. And a with Marty and Josh ate the films shown at nine o'clock, Starlight driving in Amelia. It does. I'm looking at the trailer right now. It does look awesome. 22 minutes after 10 o'clock. What was not awesome tonight was watching the Reds specifically Anthony Sclafani. We've got to talk more about that, and then Let's let's go back. We're almost 1/3 of the way through the season. We're gonna hit a mile post tomorrow. Basically the I guess in a full season, the 54 game mark would be the 1/3 mark. Tomorrow. It's going to be game number 20. Did we over? Inflate? How good this team was supposed to be. We'll get to that coming up after the 10 30 news on 700 wlw The news channels have been bombarding us with stories of doom and gloom. Because of that, maybe aren't sure about.

Terry first approach may? I don't know a year and I have two years ago. Whatever it was about the possibility of doing it. I was stunned on me. I had That's the last thing in the world I would have ever dreamed about making me the focal point of a documentary. But you know if if somebody's going to do it, there's no one better to do within Terry Luke Meyer. And then I was. I was shocked that I was also honored that he would think enough of the career. I had as a broadcaster in the big leagues to undertake a venture such as this and You know, you read his resume, and it's very, very impressive. And so I'm thrilled to death to be a part of it. And I'm really looking forward to the 17 Have you seen the finished product? I have not. In fact, Terry was we had a conversation. He and Amanda and I well, I guess last week and and I have not shown any interest at all in seeing it before everybody else sees it. I've seen the trailer, of course, and I've seen outtakes. He has sent some outtakes. I think In fact, I think he's posted some on Facebook. Um, but in terms of seeing the finished product, I've not seen one single bit of it. And that's the way I wanted to be I again I go back to his talent and his vision for doing things like this. I there's no need for me to see it before anybody else does, because I know that it's got his name on it. It's going to be top notch. So I'm going to be as excited as anyone about seeing it for the first time boy that that night, Monday, August 17 Starlight driving Emelia, That's going to be a fun night. Just not the documentary, but there's a lot of stuff going on. It is and I and I appreciate everybody involved. You know, the Reds way had the opening night. The thing that Randy freaking put on every year for the Reds Community fund, obviously because of the pandemic. So they did it Starlight a couple of weeks ago, the night before two nights before the Reds open, and everything was first class. The folks that owned that place and the folks had operated To a sensational job, and they bent over backwards to make that a success. And I'm sure this is going to be the same way. I think a lot of thought has gone into AA, making it more than just a night. To watch a video and they've certainly done that. And so, you know, we're looking forward to it. I It's something that I'll have How much longer The good Lord has deemed me being on this earth and breathing daily. And, um, I'm really excited about the prospects in and how this whole thing is going to turn out. Do you remember the first time you uttered the phrase? How we looking during the broadcast? God, No, I know. You know, people ask me about that shop all the time and how we look and not good and and Titanic struggle and all the rest of the stuff. And my answer is that just the wandering the medal and verbal wandering of a left, and that's the best I could say. I have no idea how the world that thing you give, began, and When he told me with the title of the documentary is going to be outside. You know what that kind of fitting that's about as good as anything you come up with the documentaries. How we look in the immortal words of Marty Brennaman. It debuts on the big screen. It's Starlight driving. Amelia, Monday, August 17th. There's some pretty heavy hitters in this thing. Talking aboutyou. I see Kirk Herbstreit and Urban Meyer and Nicholas Shay and Pete's there and I saw Bronson. It's a Who's Who talking about you. Well, it was awfully nice of those folks to make themselves available. I and they travel around, you know, they they had they could not. They could not maintain, uh, being in Cincinnati for the last year or so, and getting all the people that they eventually got their I know they want me driving to Columbus is not a big deal, but they went up there and they got urban up there. The folks that avail themselves of the opportunity of being involved in it. I'm very thankful for their their input and their contribution to it. And I'll always be indebted to them because I think you know the people, one of them one of the ones that I'm really pleased is Bronson. I think I got to know him a little bit better. Probably after he retired way I would seem at the ball park and we talk. And, um there's no one on earth that has more respect and admiration for the kind of career that that got carved out for himself. And the talent that he has been outside of baseball and to be a part of this thing. I was very touched by it. And and the same with urban Meyer..

"And see what you know are significant things in life in fear that because again for me is somebody that wanted to go on the sports broadcasting. I always like the humble beginnings because I think a lot of people take for granted like, well, they just did it, and maybe they got this opportunity, but you know, they came from somewhere and that fascinates me, and you know, finding his passions. And and he was going to be an actor in, you know, in college, and the anecdotes that are that are part of that. So just being able to mind that stuff and and say, here's a guy out of Virginia that did this forty six year career with the reds. I mean, it's inspiration. So much in the World Series. He had Tom Browning's perfect game. He had Pete Rose's forty one ninety two. So there's a there's a tie back there too as well. Breaking Ty, cops all time record. And there's so much other moments in there too as well as I think is what makes reds broadcast. Great is the stupid stuff that Marty? And of course, the late great Joe nuxhall. We'll talk about but also the cowboy to and that's probably going to be maybe a little tougher to catch to capture. The the Marty. And Joe saying, of course, it's near and dear to everybody. That's gonna definitely chapter Joe deserves a duck Mary on his own. Absolutely. But here's an opportunity for us to again show people that may not have remembered that incredible chemistries that they had. And you know, it's it's it's it's I hope at the heart warming emotional thing. Like, I said, it's not just going to be your typical documentary where we got a bunch of stats and famous calls from the heart and stuff too, right? Well, I mean, you know, you have the toddler years as you mentioned in the basketball years, the poofy hair fancy boy years. And then, of course, the short hair years old Marty short hair, your so you got the four areas of mardi there. Yes. Feeling like I said the Dragonfly. I mean, if if anybody's ever not seen the video of went Marty got his head shaved off of that bet. That's just an emotional moment. That's that's. Talk about that too mardi gras so much for our community and charities. It's just stuff that I I really wanna bring out and let people know to. Yeah. And deservedly so that makes him arguably one of the most well rounded people, I know Marty is a good friend. I Marty is he he is a a Cincinnati institution a treasure if you will so no one more deserving of Marty Brennaman haven't documentary, Terry, Luke Meyer barking, fish, entertainment. Hopefully, this'll be out in later stages of the season.
