"Where it ranks on the fun factor, those three 89 matches of flair and steamboat are right there. They're right there. Nothing's above them. The first one's an incredible pay per view, the shotgun rumble, which you can watch along with JR that free shows dot com this month. Casio is going to be on Conrad. We're bringing casio in at no expense very no expense. We're paying him in hot links. And he loves it. The second match in this flare steamboat trilogy is a two out of three falls match at the clash of the champions. It's going to be head to head with Russell mania 5. That one happens at the Superdome. We've talked about that one in the archives. And then of course, we'll finish up at wrestle war and Nashville in May. And of course, as soon as we're finished with this one, flare is moving on to work with the incredible Terry phone. These matches are, look at that picture. Such a great shot. Go check it out. Grilling JR on YouTube dot com. JR's facial to Eric's or to Terry Fox facial is just hilarious. On the heels of this trilogy though, it feels like we're in a similar spot because flair is once again back in the title picture. He's moving on from steamboat. He's now paired with funk. So what does that mean for steamboat? Well, not a bunch of return matches because now flare is working with Fox. So instead, he's going to challenge Lex Luger for the U.S. title. Which, no matter how we slice it, is a step down from the world title, and it's a step down from an in ring opponent, from flair to Luger at the time who was still maybe a little greenish. The great American bash is going to happen in Baltimore, an incredible show, July 23rd, at Steve mills going to lose by DQ, and then his NWA run comes to a close. And think about that now. He just came in in January, and here he is in July, finishing up. What was it that was what was steamboat missing here? You always go back to the two culprits, Conrad, the two Cash and creative. I'm not sure about the cash component. Ricky was being paid well as I recall, I would involve in the payoffs and stuff like that at that point in time, because the guys are essentially on salary. So that was something they would negotiate with their represents. They introduced themselves and whoever was running the company at that time. This case of late Jim hurt, so it just, it's always cash of creative. You can decipher suck it right down to that. That's the bottom bottom line. And I know Ricky was not pleased with this creative. How do you follow up on through the greatest matches ever with arguably the greatest pro wrestler ever? How do you follow that up? Right. It's an insurmountable odds to recreate magic with somebody else. And look, I have great respect for Lex Luger and the man he's from and the things he's overcome is health wise, he's a, he's a great success story in my view. And I think the world of him. And I think of him often. Because the journey that he's on in the ups and downs twists and turns. But there's no way it's not fair in Alexa say the same thing. You know, it's a step down for steamboat. Skill wise, the matches are not near going to be nearly as good. And the irony of it is, if we could just got through it, it would have made it would have made steam, but would have made Luger a much better pro wrestler. Yes. The more match time, the more in ring stuff, but Ricky did not like the direction. It was Anne, but look, what is she going to do? Who are you going to booking with? Comparative flair. Well, there's nobody that can do that. Right. So, and I'm not kissing players to ask the second kissing his ass, but he was a top of the mountain. There's nobody, it's made it tough, booking once. But I think also Ricky, you know, strong family man, I think he kind of probably I'm sure like a lot of guys and gals have some guilt when they're way too much from their children. That is her first responsibility, being a parent. Not being a baby face. So I think he got a little burned out. And he was ready to get off the road. I think as much as anything. And that's what he did. It's just amazing to me to think about his career in terms of when he's fresh off of the greatest WrestleMania match in history, two months later, he needs time off. It's never the same. He's gone several months later. Now he's fresh off the greatest trilogy. Anybody's ever seen and a former world champion now. He finally made it to the top of the mountain. A couple of months later, he's gone. If nothing else, our man was principled, he did it his way. And I can't help but wonder if that may be potentially hurt his standing in the conversation when people talk about all time greats because it feels like they always say, well, it's Shawn Michaels or Ric Flair. But man, if steamboat had worked continuously and not been so principled and taken some of these breaks and walked away when he felt like he wasn't getting a fair shake instead of powering through like flare more often than not did. He'd be mentioned up there with those guys. What do you know? Of course, yeah. A skill, build a bell, yes, Conrad without a doubt. Bell to bell, comparing steamboat of comparing many others a bus to vote would be absolutely erroneous. Not even close.

"Hello, my name is Shelby. I'm from Orlando, Florida, and I have been listening to MTA since 2013. I became a long distance runner as I was healing from an eating disorder in college. I stopped weighing myself and started fueling my body for performance instead of restricting to be as soon as possible. Running gives me a better relationship with my body and has been extremely beneficial to my mental health. I hope to be a marathoner for the rest of my life. Thank you so much, MTA for being such an inspiration. Hi, my name is Britt, and I'm calling from buffalo, New York, and I became a long distance runner because it makes me feel free. "Shortly before he had surgery for the amputation, Terry had received an article about dick trom, the first amputee to finish the New York City marathon, and Terry was so inspired and challenged by dick, doing this undertaking, that after he recovered from his surgery, he embarked on a 14 week marathon training plan and he went on to finish the New York City marathon in last place. People were cheering for him. Of course, it was very inspiring. And then he announced that he had bigger plans. He wanted to run across all of Canada to raise money for cancer research and it was kind of a shock at the time because there wasn't really the prosthetics that we have now. So Terry's started his trek, he called it the marathon of hope. It began in April of 1980 at the Atlantic Ocean in St. John's Newfoundland. Unfortunately, he had to stop at day 153 due to his health, but by that time he had raised $1.7 million. And yeah, the media was following him. Yeah, it was. It was. He was just so inspiring. And his health had deteriorated to the point. I believe he was having lung problems, and he realized that the nation of Canada and the world at large was about to see the consequences of the disease. And he really hoped that might lead to people giving more generously. So in the following months, he went through multiple bouts of chemotherapy, unfortunately the disease continued to spread and he fell into a coma and died in June of 1981 at the age of 22. The government of Canada the time ordered flags across the country lowered to half staff, which was an unprecedented honor that was usually reserved for statesmen, so this Terry Fox run is an annual one day fundraiser for cancer research goes on to this day and it is raised over $800 million. So I don't think you probably ever realized what he would start and how many people who inspire. All right, so a little history, a runner that all of us should know, Terry Fox of Canada. So Dave is going to describe his run, starting at the Terry Fox monument in Newfoundland and then running all the way to Victoria, British Columbia, Angie and I have traveled in Canada quite a bit. I mean, there's still a lot more we haven't seen. It's a huge country. And beautiful. Exactly. And then one more quick note, we actually lost the first 7 minutes of our conversation, Dave's computer started updating and boom, like the call was dropped and the recording was lost. But the best part of our conversation was preserved, especially the stuff around what he calls the vault, sort of his metaphor for what is allowed into the mind when he's out there running really good stuff, just a masterclass, I think, in the endurance mindset as you're going to hear. And before we play this conversation real quick, thanks to our sponsor, athletic greens makers of AG one through the years people have asked us what supplements do you recommend for runners? That's right and we wouldn't recommend something that we don't use and love personally and give it to our kids and that's right. Anyone who is feeling even slightly less energetic, like have you had your athletic greens today? Now it's like the cure for everything. When the kids come to Angie, they know they're gonna hear. Drink more water and take athletic greens. That's right. So yeah, if

"Canada are largely behind what the truckers are trying to do here? So the first part, the stereotype of the polite Canadian saying sorry. And by and large, I wouldn't say polite. I might say prone to subservience or prone to deference to authority, where the U.S. for and I will say for good, but some will say for good or for bad is the wild west. You know, it's history was built on defying authority. Ours was built on being a subject to authority. Now, I don't know how that plays out exactly because maybe it's 'cause I'm second generation Canadian that I don't have that historical baggage and I'm a little more oppositional by nature. But even this protest self a protest of what we feel to be government tyranny is the most peaceful, beautiful protest, the most polite protest you've ever seen. I walk the streets literally looking for things to complain about that the media would run with. I saw one act of vandalism, which was paint that said freedom convoy on a pillar in front of parliament. The protesters are literally putting their garbage in garbage bags. They're literally shoveling the sidewalks to keep them clear because of the city couldn't do it. The media ran with this narrative that the convoy was defecating or urinating on warm monuments, defaced the Terry Fox monument. Everybody knows who Terry foxes. The defacing of the Terry Fox monument consisted of putting a flag in his hand and a banner on his chest that said freedom. And when I got there, that wasn't there, but there were flowers in his hand and flowers on the monument. It's the most polite opposition to government tyranny. You could possibly imagine. There were groups of indigenous peoples doing a prayer dance in confederate park. I met people of all walks of life all gender gender identities all races all religions. And somehow people are running with the idea that this is an extremist violent anti semitic racist, whatever is you want to add convoy, it couldn't be further from the truth and a little optimism. I know a few people in my immediate circle who now realize they say that they can not believe the lies versus the reality. What was the second part of the question? Well, our Canadians behind this. Do you think public opinion? So this is a tough one to answer because I may be living in my own silo where I think everyone's gung Ho. I've seen in my milieu, some people say, oh, they shouldn't protest just do what the government says leave stop obstructing the people I met on the street in Ottawa said first of all, it's not that much of a disruption pretty much for anybody except perhaps the people who live there and hear the horns honking. Even then you go three blocks down from the convoy. You don't really hear much honking. My impression, this is only my impression, but it's the impression I get from actually having spoken to the police officers on site. You get that sort of wink wink nudge nudge were behind you, but we're just here to because we're told to. When I asked the police officers, any acts of violence in the acts of destruction, anything that you find over the top egregious, they said, no, they've actually been quite nice. So I get the impression even the police are behind this. But I have met very few people who are actively against it and more and more who are turning for it. And just for our American listeners, Terry Fox was kind of like a Forrest Gump type figure. Forrest Gump was a Terry Fox figure. He ran coast to coast to raise money for cancer research. And just know what he thinks he wasn't on Forrest Gump and intellectual capacity. He was diagnosed with terminal cancer and then decided to just run, raise the Terry Fox movement. Some people who were alive then are comparing this to that in terms of the international, the national pride that it is causing to swell up in people's hearts. The amount of people I spoken to who said that they have not had a moment of optimism like this in the last two years, I can't count. But it is really it's awakened something in the Canadian spirit and it's contagious to the rest of the world as we're.

"Think there's Edwin star anywhere in that equation but there you have it 888-876-5593 That's 88 88 rally We're talking about Groundhog Day which is coming up in the morning as a morning thing And so it is that news nation's morning show morning in America You watch that don't you We'll have wall to wall groundhog coverage from punxsutawney Now it's the only national morning show live from the original groundhog celebration The only one that matters and punks the tawny And so if you can't go there yourself you can just tune into morning in America on news nation and see the wall to wall coverage And I guarantee you no one is going to drop the groundhog on its head That only happens in New York All right so 8 8 8 8 7 6 died by the way 7 6 5 5 9 three Donovan is in Vancouver Welcome back to WGN So it started the trucker convoy started in Vancouver How did it go there Well it went I'd say pretty well although I don't know exactly what happened but apparently somebody either vandalized or was hanging some sort of flag on the statue of Terry Fox Who is the fellow who lost his leg to cancer and decided to try to run across Canada back in 1980 And did And did run across he didn't even make it He made it to thunder bay Ontario before the cancer spread to his lungs and he had to stop But it was quite a major historical figure especially here on the West Coast because he was from not too far from Vancouver Right right I didn't realize he only made it to thunder bay I remember when he was running all that sad Yeah He made it to thunder bay and I think he passed away a few months later He was somebody I still look up to as a hero Right Canadian hero And I overheard something over the weekend about there's something done to his statue And I know once they got to Ottawa people were jumping on the grave of the unknown soldier And there were some flags that probably shouldn't have been there like a Nazi flag and confederate flag So again a great people have the right to protest But my question would be who were those protesters Because a lot of these protests have been infiltrated And a lot of them that you scratched the surface and you find out that it was absolutely nobody involved with the actual protest So you hate to do it because there was a small faction who wanted to come in and not try to overthrow but temporarily suspend the government So echoes of what we heard last year in the capital and the states but that seems to be put to rest There's still there They're not willing to leave What you'll love this in the midst of all this Justin Trudeau says he was exposed to COVID and had to isolate and now as of Monday tested positive for COVID So perfect timing for him I just wonder when he's going to apologize for getting COVID just like he apologizes for all his other gaffes You know I figured it was a way for him to just get out of town I have to go somewhere else So you've done a few things like that this year And last September it was our first annual truth and reconciliation day to honor the indigenous residential school survivors And Trudeau rather than going to the site and cam loops where they found all those unmarked graves flew right over it and went to holiday on tofino and Vancouver Island Oh no Oh no And there was another one in British Columbia a saint eugenie which was horror horrific what happened there So interesting stories Thanks for the update I appreciate it My pleasure to be interested in this before I sign off but hang on Just hang on You got to hang on because nothing waits for the news So we'll pick it up right there on WGN.

"You know i found myself in a position where you know addition was taken over my life. You know alcohol drug abuse Risky lifestyle all of that stuff and dream of being a hockey player. Left me when. I met a grave. James and i think I didn't know why. I didn't know what was happening to me. Couldn't explain it to anybody because it happened so long ago. You know twenty twenty. While i was fourteen at the time so you know thirty years ago and over thirty years ago you know. We didn't talk about this stuff. So i remember the fear of telling anybody who's gonna believe me because i've been this trouble making kid that you know the drunk and that's the way i visit and so anyway. I remember when. I saw graham when i got traded from the detroit. Red wings to the calgary flames. And i saw graham outside. The locker amuse coaching calvary Diamond and i saw him the young kids. I just need myself. My life was out of control at the time. And i just knew that if i didn't do something a i needed to stop him from hurting other kids and i needed to save my life because i was very suicidal and And my wife was pregnant with her daughter. Ryan at time i would never be the father and the parent and husband that i wanted to be honest. I dealt with this stuff. So that's how i told my story. I didn't think anybody was gonna believe me. And i remember getting to the point where It was in one thousand nine hundred seven. I was canada's newsmaker of the year. And i remember looking at the newspaper. There was terry fox. Rick set recanting of prime ministers and so forth and then i was newsmaker of the year ninety seven. I thought to myself Done anything here. So i'm going to put on a pair of rollerblades rollerblade across the country. And i gotta say perry late probably the thing that kept me going across. This country was all the disclosures in the support. And the people the chemo. Keep going keep going. Thank you show them. And i can tell you that i visited there was communities. And i remember going into col- non-member golan like you. Don't we visited in a communities and first nations communities average communities across this country I remember being drummed in having ceremonies within ranks. I remember people telling us. This rink has not been filled in years and years and years and years at a time when i think we came together not just me personally but it was the first time that i didn't feel alone and i think it was an and that's what i was given when i was welcomed inductees communities but also I think what i gave them was voice Around issues that how they'd been hurt And men not just the women but also the man and i think You know being able to connect the dots around residential school. You know. I think the incidences were different. But one thing that's really stuck with me is. The impact is very consistent. And that's one thing that i will never ever forget that. And that's the most relatable place for conversation is that you know the time the place the person is different. But but how we were hurt can how were impacted. What what we were left with Deliver lives with because of what happened to us was very consistent. I think that was the most commonplace for conversation You know that's i went across the country and we had conversations like that perry night. You know what. I remember. When i i told my story it was not everything. Just didn't go away. I had a. I had a lot of wreckage that had to do with the damage of what happened to me. And i remember. I went to a treatment center. And and i managed to get sober but i was really struggling with spirituality. All the story to you know. And i ran into a friend of mine who worked at the medicine mountain Sandy lake and we went on a four athos out in the area And was a place. Where actually. Because i think when you're abused you lose your ability to trust because you're hurt by somebody that you trust right and that's a big deal. That's a lot bigger than people think. Because how are we supposed to trust in the spirits in crater for somebody that you know you're not trust belief that's about right and so for me. That was a huge part of my recovery. It's still is today because it gave me that. Trust brought in brought the spirits in for me to actually believe that. I'm not alone right now is really important to me. That's a very powerful powerful dialogue sheldon be about trust in healing and keeping going hearing the disclosures. Rollerblading cross canada. I time not feeling alone. And giving first nations people avoid because what you describe experiences that experience a lot of people who the residential schools it was physical abuse mental abuse sexual abuse starvation And now we lift you up for leading like that again. You're the you're the example of optime mc now you're in hockey and that's sports and there's also the abuse of power like you talked about the the trust between the coach and the players and and this goes to any other sports sporting event or activity. You know how. How can we look at breaking the pattern of abuse in. Sports are in any place where there's an imbalance of power involving children and sports itself is yes. There's abuse there but as good sports really part of the answer too. Yeah well. I think you're you're sitting right on. This is not just hockey issue societal issue. I think you're right. It's bound to power. And i think our best defense in what we how we tried to go about. This is to build coffins around of these issues and clarity and an ability to have the conversations to speak in when our guts are telling us Need to be able to follow that. Follow that path and to be able to ask questions in a not. You know but i think right now. We're not sure how asked these questions because we're not really sure if it is or if it isn't in my talk about confidantes irony it's about. We need to be very clear on what's right and what's wrong because a lot of times. Look at these issues all. I can't step in there. I can't step in here. Even though you know i know i know this kid is at risk and no we do need to step in. We need to know how to do that. And it is our job to their children. And i think you know sports if we look at a lot of the most impact i mean the the leading contributor to mental health issues in our country stem from adverse childhood experiences stem from kids being hurt for for suits for long periods of time traumatic experiences which we know offset those kids up to live a certain way all of anxiety into the rest of their lives. How do they manage that anxiety. How do they manage that. You know that easiness within cy. And i think one of.

It doesn't end up as well but as the whole thing with no holds barred tie in from the movie was phenomenal And they and. I really enjoyed that. I i wasn't ulta or your fan. Loved the big blue cage match with ravishing rick rude Thought they did a really good job with earthly hoping that the time and then of course ninety one rolled around. I think the match everybody talks about happened right here in new york city. And that was mr perfect and brad heart and that to me made me a fan of both gosh whereas beforehand were kinda after thought so they weren't really what i was tuning into c They got my attention. That might not only that i. I look at it as a lot of people. talk about. Savage steamboat at wrestlemania. Three as the first great wrestlemainia match. And i think that hogan perfect match was probably the first truly great summer slam match. And really you know ric flair yeah really elevated network player and really elevated heart and bernhardt was still really cool there and he was like james dean or something before he came overly whiny and overly got an whatever he is but he was still i look. I watched that last night. And i was just thinking to myself man but flair are bret. Hart was really really cool when you just kinda i dunno. Sometimes the more he talked to west cool he became. But yeah i seven. I think his work seven is second to nine. Yeah i agree with you i i. I agree with you on that Many of their favorites aside from from the obvious ric flair Yes whereas performers absolutely I grew up a huge terry fox. Fan even have more appreciation for now. Obviously dusty rhodes I don't know that you could have been a kid in the eighties and not been a big hole. Cogan or macho man saying But they were up there as well so You know it's kind of a a routine answer but macho man hulk hogan terry funk dusty roads and h so for those of you who are listening to this for those people who listen to the show and probably want to know how did you. How did you meet ric flair appearance and two thousand thirteen and we hit it off and traded numbers and I'll have people still think he lives in charlotte but actually lives in atlanta. Which is too terribly for from huntsville. So i i learned. The most of his friends are actually ensure handful friends there in atlanta. Most of his friends were still in charlotte but he was dating. See the french french-made and she's you know with their kids in atlanta so he's there So it was just convenient for us to hang out with a couple of hours away so You know go over this place. And i would be a good person to help him kind of keep the conversation going and get comfortable. I first episode. So that was the plan He liked it. Cbs liked it. So we kept going for guy if you ever done. Radio jude in college or anything. We did no sir i. i'm completely amateur hour. Have no background or training or skills or nothing as a as twenty plus years in the broadcasting and radio and stuff you really nice job is small for a guy no background you keep things moving you give everything seemingly you know. The right amount of time was something important. You go deeper if it's not you you try to move things along. I think you do a very nice job. I appreciate that and I don't know that your chance to check it out. But i think the best podcast for wrestling. There are people who are listening to this and that includes me new Is the new something to wrestle with. Richard it's on the immel w radio network. It comes out on. Fridays at noon And we've had three episodes so far. The brand new episode of that just came up. Yesterday was about the nineteen ninety lex express situation. What happened well supposed to happen. What almost happened. What didn't happen. is all discussed in great detail a week ago. We talked about The macho man and hulk hogan and how the mega powers exploded between wrestlemania. Four and five and then ask the question that everybody wants to know about macho man and his departure from wwe and then two weeks ago we covered when dusty rhodes. I left jim crockett promotions and went to new york in nineteen eighty nine. What was that about. How did he work out with Events how did he leave. What was a real. What wasn't a rib. Whichever all that in. Great detail So if ric flair show. Maybe isn't your cup of tea. Checkout something wrestle. With on fridays. On the immel w radio network. I think you do a nice job with that. I mean was richard. You don't get to be at the top of wwe and Vinci's right hand man for as long as he was without being very judicious in your answer. Shall we say. And i think you're very good at trying to pin him down and try to get more out of times that he might be playing to To give. I think he'd be very very nice. Job there with with bruce With burs yeah. It was richard. I think i mentioned see when you when you ever get a chance Ask him about. Lloyd lee who He lived with hidden tom when they were. Oh yeah in california Lloyd is a personal friend of mine. And i mentioned this to you in charlotte that We were we just happened. To go to the tacoma show night that they had the big. Wcw main event the infamous. Buff bagwell booker. T. match and we just by chance. We're gonna go see him just for loyd full-time sake to go see his friend and we ended up with the wrestling history on accident but Bruce could not have been nicer and Yeah what a really great guy but yeah. He's old california days with with tom. And yeah bruce and everything so yeah lawyers lee who lives in portland now. He might be. He might be listening but he's a guy that goes way back way back with the very cool story. Yeah and by the way. I'd love to have Roussin john if you could make that happen that would be. That would be great. I'd love to love to talk to him but he's anyone to talk about texas and california wrestling. You didn't seem to hip on that. This might be outlet to to make him happy and then to help your show as well so something. He was just f- why he was only doing that to elicit a response from me and he got one. I'm interested in in every bit of history that he wants to talk about but We have a good natured. Ribbing about us he thinks that You know everything that came out of. W was hot garbage and as a fan. I disagree So just naturally since. He doesn't like what i like. I don't like what he likes and that's houston wrestling. So i it. Every chance i get i take a dump on houston wrestling. I'm paul bausch. He's a young man. How dear dear and that's that's versus cinema. "We left at vague intentionally each and every time this has come up. I have said i draw. Distinction between terry fox fell rick hansen and the man in motion tour and competitive athletics. If you choose not to go right ahead they get peaks of their own on like to me. They're the sports unitarian. mount rushmore. Right totally or even dropped the sports just humanitarian. Canadian mount rushmore. We are not trying to sell them. Short story they get thrown mountain for the bottom line is neither marathon of hope. Emotion tour was a competitive event. Now rick certainly race competitively at the paralympics but so i put them in a class above. If you will a separate distinction and look christina's his graduated on my mount rushmore gretzky. How do you not have gretzky. I have steve. Nash and anders gonna fight me on this but for me the nba's the hardest league in the world to make you not only made it. He was twice the mvp of it. Donovan bailey who. I mean hockey vote against a two time olympic champion in what is as competitive event worldwide as anything run fast one hundred meters and i've got christine cleaner. I would have had a hayley wickenheiser over the years of bob. Your clerk you cindy klassen. You know there's tons and tons of great potential name sir. Larry walker's jenkins larry walker. Certainly if you're going the f. penny The bass the baseball route You know. Benny quickly moving her way into this league. How you have to at least consider but in my world. She's probably not there yet. Despite that was an ancient although she probably will be. When it's all said and done at least one more gretzky. Nash donovan bailey and christine sinclair user. I would vote. Yes to the poll question. I think the body of work the longevity the the greatest goal scorer internationally in the world's gain and yes. That's a massive part of this discussion. But i just think the depth of her body of work the character the trail-blazing the inspiration for a generation that stood side by side with her on the pitch like we watched a sheet. Her living legacy was helping her win gold medal last week. And i love that julia grasso. Nineteen twenty years. Old right loved the gold medal ceremony. Where you know. There's christine actually putting the metal around a teammate. That's half raid. And then she turns on. The same thing happens with another young team. It's putting gold medal around her neck. So yeah. I think she's in that conversation. I think she's included in in that group and gretzky to me. Seems like no brainer. At that point you know. I wrestle with these things because you as you laid out like..

"I love that. That's always the go-to i who do we know who has something like that we can use. Let's just go exam. And had sean fuck find in. We had the crew get ready to go. Go light and set up and i had no idea what the fuck we were gonna do. And all just as i said down for a few minutes came up with something and got. Sean talked sean. We just did it. Obviously. it's a bad spot for everybody. But i'm sure in in a weird way it's not ideal they'd love to have a regular payoff but brad probably had to be excited about working sean right. He knew it'd be a good match. Yeah i mean yes. I don't think that it was so much that is it was the pay-off waller story point and that was kind of disappointing. There's a famous story that maybe this matched it and have everybody involved in that. Actually we saw that night. It's breath easy for me bruce keith. Brent ruined owen brew brew keeping. They all innovative own own. Own own heart on in ruth shawn michaels the blue knight the red knight and the black knight. The blue knight was greg valentine. The red knight was barry horowitz and the black knight was jeff gaylord nothing. He gave a shit but originally one of these nights was supposed to be someone else right. Well actually there were. There were couple of someone else's on this evening one of those. Someone else's was gentleman From knoxville tennessee by the name of the len jacobs was possibly going to be one of those nights. I think as the rumor. Innuendo goes those also discussion about perhaps one of them being jim the anvil nine heart. And maybe a third one that was pretty famous to will the one the one that was flown in for it and actually had the outfit and a maps built around was Gentleman that Went by the name chain saw. Charlie was supposed to be in that damn match. It's crazy to think about that. Terry fox story catch everybody up. They wanted i think the original creative was he was gonna lose and Maybe didn't like it or maybe. That's just a coincidence. Because some around the same time. I think he got a report from the ranch that sadly one of his horses had had fallen sick right. Yeah okay yeah we. We were laying out some different ideas. One of the ideas was. Since we had greg valentine and terry funk two major names and night heart was thrown in there as well But you had major names. That would be a part of it that as they were eliminated they would be unmasked and it would be like oh holy shit. That was great. Valentine's all holy shit. That was the annual holy shit. That was fucking terry faulk. Oh my god In in going over the match over several drinks the night before brett might of Told terry this and terry who's they carry was fine being a night. But i don't think terry was fine being unmasked as being a night and had had the added stuff therefore him and terry folded up the the outfit and i think he gave it to you brett or one or the other heart members. left me a message. Pritchard gago mike horses. Tell vince my forces sick. That's the best part Tell vince yeah. Well the matches a fucking train wreck They go nearly thirty one minutes. Meltzer would say it's way too long and it just didn't work. They tried to plug michaels into the lawler spot and claimed michaels had been insulting the family all this time and anyone who actually watched the tv new better michael's just couldn't carry interest and the knights came off jobbers and ray combs as the announcer totally buried bruce and keith to the tv audience acting like they weren't even wrestlers It's it's a bad luck star and a half. But here's the deal after the match is when things really cooking owen comes back out and starts arguing with brat to start his. He'll turn as his mother starts to weep and it's all the backdrop to oh and losing but the big question. I guess we should ask is how did everybody feel about bruce and keith being on a national stage i mean we all know and love brenton owen but bruce and keith. This is sort of their cup of coffee in the big time. Well you know it was a heart family so just along with their last name. Notwithstanding their talent they had credibility with the audience because they were members of the hart family. And the hart family was as much a part of this entire thing as anything else. So yeah i am. They didn't embarrass themselves. By any stretch of the imagination. It was just unfortunately hadn't been in the ring in a while. styles clashed and the match was got awful but again as you say it was all kind of just the backdrop to get to the jealousy angle with a winning bread. Why do you think oh and did here. I mean brett is really helping elevate his brother in this storyline but they do such a great job. It's going to become arguably the premier feud in the whole company. And this again. Let's talk about the magic of har- he starts this year. Ninety three is the champ. He loses it to Yokozuna controversial fashion but bounces right back three big time performances becomes king of the ring and immediately starts a hard hot angle with lawler. Lawler gets himself in trouble. Well he beats the rap but either way it's unfortunate. We don't get the payoff. But.

Yeah this isn't sort of an abstract idea. This is her. Papa who's in this home right so you know mccarthy's had a lot of these window visits over the past fifteen months or so as we know luckily here in ontario things are starting to open up for for residents and their families but for melanie the flower farmer as you remember she she'd been hearing all these stories about family separation and that's really what motivated her to start this program in the first place and that's really because she has her own story of visiting a loved one in long term care when i was eighteen months old. My mom was diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer. The same type of bone cancer. That terry fox had and she had to have an operation. When i was extremely young that resulted in her being paralyzed from the waist. Down so from the time that i was eighteen months old. My mom was actually hospitalized for over twenty five years and then she spent the last four years of her life in a local nursing home. I grew up in the hospital with my mom in so many senses. And i didn't know anything different. The nurses were an extended family to me. I grew up on hospital vanilla ice cream and jello from the cafeteria and it really gave me the opportunity to truly understand what other people are going through four years ago. My mum made the move from the hospital to a nursing home. It was a really challenging. Move and it really opened my eyes up to a different aspect of long term care. Hospital setting is so much different than a nursing home. I was able to visit her for dinner. Bring her dinner. Spend the day with her. I was very to her and to the community in the nursing home. My mom unfortunately passed away two years ago. This was just before cova did. And i honestly have thought during the entire pandemic every day about the people that are still in the long term care homes. I was fortunate enough to be able to hold my mum's hand as she passed away. And i know that so. Many people have lost family members during cova and haven't been able to spend that precious time especially at end of life with their family members. So it's certainly been top of mind for me over the last eighteen months. Which really quite something i mean. We've we've all been talking about this but if anybody can really understand what the residents at.

But there are also available for streaming on music sites. Like spotify and i tunes in google plans so under. They're all out there. And i taught myself out. Take the recording and get it launched. It's not that difficult. Some of your listeners. Might no i'm not. I don't work for them. But i did really well with the site called. Cd maybe they will for ten dollars. They'll put your song up there. And nick and distributed to all the sites like spotify and so on ten dollars and ninety percent of your sales and in return the collect the money for you for whatever small amount of money. It is to get it out so i figured out how to that. So that's another way. My my my songs are out there and youtube but people can stream them or download them and so on final thing about the album. It's actually cd here. But you can download the hallway album off any music streaming site and half of the sale. Price cuts have identified dollars. Goes to the terry fox foundation. That's canada's largest cancer. Charity terry fox was a great figure who decided to draw attention to cancer in nineteen eighty one by trying to run across canada and he had the same cancer as my son. Oxygenic sarcoma in the same place in the leg. And he started in the far eastern part of canada newfoundland. He got about sixty percent of the way across before cancer came back. He never made his total journey but the fox run this all over canada. It's run every year and has become the largest cancer charity in canada. So if you download the album half goes to the terry fox foundation for cancer research. Nice slowly.

"And there's the beautiful thing about facial acupuncture you see. We can needle neuro muscular junctions on these muscles to reset them so if they're too tight loosen or if they're lax sagging they tighten up so you can get results without covering up your feelings like the bow. Talks does and in fact. Some patients actually have emotional releases while we're creating more circulation and stimulation in the areas. Where the emotion has been semantically stored in the tissue itself. And that's an interesting concept and there's there's plenty of research out there that demonstrates that emotions can be stored with in the tissue of the body and that's that's fascinating stuff but certainly not something. We can go into too much more here. But i will say that this really does allow for a lot more authenticity for a person. We're we're not stifling the emotion. We're actually helping that emotion express at so these these facial muscles in this feedback loop brain. This is this is important stuff. A good example of this is there is a british study. That showed that botox injections into that process area inbetween. The eyebrows stifles the amount of pleasure. That a woman feels during orgasm now in traditional chinese medicine. We actually have an explanation for this. That area of the face corresponds to the liver. And the liver meridian. Just so happens to encircle and connect to the sexual jenna tale you now by paralyzing the liver area. It reflects in the marine channel so it reduces the amount of cheese and blood flow in those areas or if we want to talk about the brain getting feedback from the facial muscles or not contraction in that area with those muscles being paralyzed. The brain gets less stimulation and thus one feels less pleasure so we have a poison that we inject into our face. That's masking our feelings of depression urination frustration and dumbing down the pleasure of orgasm..

"You are a very multifaceted kind of person. You're you're a yoga instructor therapist. Your life coach. You are very knowledgeable about essential oils. How did you discover your strengths to did these things just kind of fall in your lap or how did this all come about for you. You know it's so fascinating. I think like when you hear. Somebody's resume or their out. And you're like wow like. They're an expert at xyz or whatever and yet at least for me which i would imagine. This is true for most people. It's like a journey. Along the way we start picking up these interests and facets of what is drawing your attention and for me. It was all from my own personal healing journey. And if we were to rewind the clock like eight years ago you would have a very different mary. I was about eighty pounds heavier than i am now. I was dealing with like really extreme anxiety and depression. I wasn't a marriage that was just not healthy and not ultimately life-giving and i really had no sense of purpose. No sense of identity and was dealing with autoimmune staff so it was like the culmination of somebody who has totally just lost themselves and i was almost like sleepwalking through life is what it felt like in so there was this moment. I can remember so clearly where it was like. Okay either this is going to go to a bad place really really quickly and it was already kind of spiraling in getting to that point. Or there's got to be more to life than this. Like surely little flicker of hope shirley there's more to life than this and thank god. I listened to that voice of. There's there's more here and started this journey of self discovery and started to come into. What made me come alive. And and authentic and learning about myself and learning about my own feminity and my own just essence as a woman and so little by little. I started kind of adding these different tools to my toolbox <hes>. That me to do my own work. Further and then ultimately as a life coach now be able to give that gift as medicine two other women who've been on a similar journey so it's kind of like my own work that now gets to be given to others your podcast. I've tuned into a couple of episodes. You're actually right now at the time of this recording. Your your theme for the month is femininity. Yeah and i think that was one of the reasons why i was like okay. Wow when we're here on the get foxy show. That's one of the things that i felt like i wanted to do for my listeners. Was to help them. Learn more about cultivating an amplifying their own divinely given feminine entity and so. Oh mary she's she's she's <unk>. Needs to be on this show. so what. What have you been discussing on your podcast over the last couple of weeks hot. Oh my gosh. It's so juicy. It's like literally my favorite month so far and i feel like every month. We talk about just amazing topics around self-discovery and mindset and so to end the year as we're recording this in this this topic of feminity is so beautiful because there's all different ways of looking at it. i mean the reality is. Is that this. Concept of femininity. In and of itself is deep. There's a lot of different ways. You could approach it and so on the pike cast. We're looking at that. we're looking at. How do you personally define your own femininity because we're getting all these messages from diet culture from the fashion industry from the porn industry. On what it is to be a woman you have to look certain way you have to behave a certain way. Even on google like the definition of femininity is like agreeable and pleasing and cooperative and quiet. It's just as outdated one dimensional definition of what it is to be a woman so on the show. We're getting to explore like okay. If i could look at the totality of myself as a woman the essence of what makes me divinely female. What does that even look like. How do i even begin to experience her. And not just from what. I've been told from childhood or religion or culturally. You know i know that <hes>. Especially now as even tricky because we are more out there than ever as women and working were raising children. We are in unconventional relationships. We are in a way trying to do it all. And it's exhausting us. I mean it's really depleting acids burning us out and so it still trying to figure out. How do i define this in a new way. That isn't like in the confines masculinity like. I don't have to work like a man. I don't have to produce like a manner achieve like a man was. It looked like to do that as a woman. So those are kind of the the surface level things that we're talking about on the show and then we're getting into all the fund woohoo staff about your menstrual cycle and the moon cycle and astrology. An archetype. so it's like real a wide range of different lenses in looking at feminine entity. that's fantastic. Yeah i will put a link in the show notes to that specific episode. And it's it's one of the episodes that i tuned into law. You guys are talking some very fascinating stuff that you mentioned how inner in our culture were to a point now where women are trying to do so much and where so many different hats that they're beginning to experience are have already experienced burn. How do you help someone recover from this and really kind of start embracing taking care of themselves. You know i think. I just xfl because like it really is something that is so prevalent right now that just depletion that deprivation an of self care and taking care of the needs that we have and it's bread. Ns almost taught to us from a very early age to give and give and give and give and be yes women to be people pleasers to do it all then you mix that in with like okay now. I'm feeling liberated. And i'm feeling independent in so i want to achieve all of these things and be the best version of myself and the reality is is that no human male or female can keep up with that kind of twenty four seven all in kind of demand for their lives and so to me when we can begin to look at first of all where my feeling deprived like i think we kind of have to almost diagnose the situation i and figure out where we're feeling exhausted. What's exhausted in our lives and get really honest. First and foremost about what's draining ass. What siphoning off our energy because no amount of self care can sort of cover up win we keep in the same patterns that are going to deplete us like that piece has to shift in order to experience something different and so i is identifying where am i at you know from a scale of one to ten on the burn out scale. Where am i am. I am handling it in my functioning. M i barely functioning am i to the point where i feel like i could have a mental breakdown and blow up at any moment which i feel like a lot of us are at that place you know. It's like the covid fatigue. The twenty twenty fatigue is really setting in and our bandwidth is is not what it normally would be and so i think the first step is going okay. I'm i'm really exhausted here. I'm struggling and from that place. Then we can look what needs to shift and starting to identify those warning signs that come into play that are ever so gently to the point. Where it's that little twinge of this is to match and say yes. And then oop i'm over committed and we say more and the point. Eventually we're most of us get total. Burnout is where it's like. Our body is shutting down our adrenals or shot are cortisol levels are depleted our vitamin d is depleted like everything within our physical bodies emotionally and just from a health. Standpoint is gone like the reserve has gone. So that's kind of like the the level ten on that scale. So let's look at where we at been. We can think about recovery replenishment and rejuvenation from a very holistic point of view.
