"Four years of that discipline basketball aggressive type plate, especially on the defensive end, it prepared me very well for the NBA. You know, if you had Marvin del, I believe Ron burrough on that team and yourself and you guys took that program to new heights and said, you know, I'm not big on pictures of individuals, but probably my two most iconic pictures that I always enjoy seeing. And I got to hear somewhere in my man cave, but I can't find it right now. If George gervin, iceman, sitting on a block of chair on ice, your picture on the front of sports illustrator would have two hands on through going like that. I have labeled that show them the funk, because it has underarms and all that matter, but that was made by the armor. But a great great thing. Your thoughts on that man. Yeah. Well, I don't have a picture of that. I don't have a photograph. I can't locate. Wow. I find it a lot. And I'm sure if I dug deep enough, I would find it, but I have signs so many. And what really it brings back memories of the fact that the program started a certain way and I never forget we played UCLA at the pit. New selling the pit. I know I'm talking about boy. And that altitude is just enough altitude there isn't it cool. Yeah. Jessica is definitely not the girl you all. Yeah. And you see LA they were this powerhouse team was not like the old UCLA team, so it's still a good thing to keep it down the waves on the team David Greenwood, Roy Hamilton. And we were just these country guards from Arkansas and we played in the pit. We advanced there. We were and we were just we beat them. We were all them like, why don't I say the other words? I went for everyone to like shit on stage from the oldest tip. And we ended up winning that game and went through the final four that year. So Arkansas, those were some great years. I don't think you ever recreate college. Even though I enjoy playing in the NBA, you can always at least I can always say the model of memorable games are still in college. It's not really the MBA, because you play so many games in the NBA, but colleges, you have a little small window in college basketball. Hey, did you listen to this show time with coop? We have sending my grief in the house. Sending this point of the stage. I have something I call poops lightning round. I'm going to give you 5 names, and you tell me as much as little about the names, okay? Okay. This one, Terry Cummings. Aggressive player Hall of Fame, skill set, had he been healthy and played consistently for maybe one team, for ten to 12 years. Hall of Famer, no doubt, tough kid, tough player, love playing with them. You've mentioned already coach Eddie Sutton the late Annie Sutton. Yeah, coach said, very disciplined. He loved his players. He had high expectations for us, and he if you play for coach, you were ready if he had the skill to play in the NBA. He prepared players to play that next level. Now, I play for Pat Riley, my whole year of a couple of other coaches. The pat ride with my main coach, I would love to have played for Don Nelson. He was fun. He was very innovative. He wasn't as flighty as people think. He was a student of the game, young understood the game of basketball. And the understood matchups. And he worked coop. He worked at his highest paid rally work. You all Betty broke in my career. We worked extremely hard and remember back then you could have two practices. And they could be full practices. You had no limits. And then you could have a meeting in between. So we were practiced really hard, have this meeting about the plays and all this different. You know, that might be sitting in there like, I'm tired. Just don't be the basketball. This is who. And then do it again. Practice again. So I can say quick right off the bad memories, the fact Riley used to do that. Practice meeting practice film after a soap. We didn't have the p.m. afterwards. So you all were no, we didn't have that Apple. Kobe Bryant. Coast to coast with the basketball and they plays. It was something to behold and the thing I love about LeBron James that people were look, he is extremely intelligent ball player. But we have intelligent players that didn't share the knowledge with their teammates. He shares knowledge when you call a player set. He knew what play you were in. If that teammate was not in the right position, he said, hey, I need you to hear thereby run this play. He was he was probably the best I have ever seen in the history of the game of basketball that I've seen. But not only understood the game, but also shared that knowledge with his players on the basketball court. That's a great insight that I think people have a tendency to forget about those little aspects, nuances about his game is letting his teammates know. And, you know, you play for some great ones. That was one of Magic Johnson's biggest strengths is about inclusive for the whole team. Everybody been on the same page because it takes teams together everyone achieves more to win basketball games and LeBron definitely definitely has that, okay. Fit was some of your favorite teammates. And give us a little bit of insight on some of them. Well, junior bridgeman, and Harvey catches, we came in, well, they kind of mentor me when I was in Milwaukee Bucks and we did everything together in the road. Good and bad. Just kidding. Also. Hopefully if I bob a study in church and knows that. They really kept me from maybe strain more than I would have. Because they were just all about business being professionals playing bucker. They were pros. They were just professionals. I love playing with bob Lanier because bob was bob was a rebel player at a high had a very high skill level. People in a lot of times feel the love that the basketball player. And you always felt you know how it is and so I could get you open. Don't mind he could get you open. Whatever was guarding you, they would no longer be on you when bob said a pig. Man, I caught some of them hips. I caught 7 hips trying to get around him guarding you. Elbows, whatever it took. To do that, Marcus Johnson was such a skill player. I enjoy playing with Marcus because Marcus was a he wasn't a complimentary player, but he could compliment you. He wasn't trying to try to outshine you because he was good enough to shine out on his own. And he also just fundamentally again fundamentally player his father mills were so good. He was a winner. I just like most of my teammates were winners. I really liked that Paul Presley was one of my great teammates because he could pass the basketball was very smart. He played defense and he didn't care who he got the credit. He just wanted to win ball games. I have some tremendous teammates, ma'am. I have. Thanks for a long time. Dave Meyers. The late day Myers. Yeah. They look good. They were one of my favorite teammates because he did all the dirty work. I watched him every before every practice and after every practice read religiously do his exercises worse back so he could be healthy to play the next ball game..

"Let's end with pessimism. Okay you can go first. Give me the let's pessimistic. Scenario klay comes. I guess this includes klay comes back. He's just seventy percent clay j. ready you know he's kind of. Jj rhetoric style steph. Doesn't have as good of a Health season as maybe. He did last season. That the young guys show no development. Which would be a major problem organizationally because what we haven't mentioned. They jump started their developmental staff. Kenny acts in the rabbit And so that would be a problem organizationally. If the young guys don't show development so young guys don't they they still sit in the play in mix and maybe they have another disaster play in and they don't even make the playoffs for a third straight season. Nick i assume your your prediction is like worse team in the nba worse than the thunder and then and then don't get the lottery picked fifth in the lottery right. I still have a hard time believing that this team if if steph even if he misses some time but if he stays relatively healthy that they are going to miss the playoffs i know there is some pessimism on some sides that they're just still not good enough i i don't buy that. I think they're going to the postseason but zach. This is why i have. I've always believed in the end. The warriors best chance for a title or or for this rebirth. Were discussing if were. We're putting our optimistic. Hats on comes next season. Because you see what clay is and you believe that steph. No matter what kind of year he has can still stretch out the prime that he showed he still in last year so no matter what happens this year as interesting as it may be. I think we're looking at a warriors team next year. That comes in with a better chance on top of the fact that you can get in. Maybe different veterans who believe they're closer inconceiva- clay looking more like klay after year back from those two injuries fair enough You guys both do an incredible job covering the team of your own style of your own voices in it. "As much magic michael jeter. I hated jordan healed us as he got older. I'm like i'm gonna miss seeing that guy. The him with o'brien. But i miss lebron that talked about lebron covered back to go into the lakers joke over if if he goes to the lakers and that championship is celebrated. Then you know what i want. You know what you know what they should do. They should literally have like the pre-game for that. Should literally like eighth graders playing first-grader football and then doing long fucking interviews with the eighth graders when they won talking about coming together as a team and all that type of shit. I'm telling you do like to go the lakers wearing where some stupid number. Like forty nine or something. You know what i mean like. It'll be just the worst. It's what sports is become. And your. I saw some more on trying to say that pylon teams are not a new thing. It was so dumped. He he's trying to sit there saying like talking about like those teams in the eighties and celtics like those teams were built. Built yet through trades drafts. The it wasn't like magic and james worthy sat on a yacht during the off season going. Hey man would it be great if we all played insane team fucking more on the guy this guy at the top ten sports myths and he tried to say that that was his put pylon teams were smith wasn't in go back and look at the teams that didn't win it in those areas. That were built. The i watch hardwood classics a couple of weeks ago. They had the nine hundred eighty five all star game on the milwaukee bucks had four guys on the eastern all stars. They won seven straight seven. Straight fifty win seasons all built through the draft in trades. And this is what the guy was saying though his justification that they were pylon teams. Despite the fact nobody piled on was that in the in the eighties the lakers the celtics. The sixers and the pistons were the only ones who won championships. Everybody else was without and he goes so it was. It was good for the league. And that's an complete bullshit because what they didn't realize was that despite the fact that the bucks never came through they had sydney moncrieff. Sigma terry cummings jack. Paul presi what jackson was on that was on the floor but no he came to the bucks in amid as tonics he was he was a he came to the box back then back then you had you had blockbuster trades like when moses malone went to the sixers there would be an or kareem. Went to the lakers. But there wasn't like what what happened in boston. Just overnight a. We went from the worst team in the league to winning the championship. And we fucking go. We got kevin garnett for nothing from kevin mchale. That should have been investigated the same way the way. The lakers got a power to jerry jerry. West was with fucking that who was was whipped to fucking grisly grizzlies. Yeah like both. Those trades were complete behind enemy lines. Bullshit and then we got round. That's why i wasn't upset. When ray went to miami. I was like dude. That's how we got him. He wasn't ours wasn't a celtic keeper. I still look at him like he's one of the great. The great staff played for the organization. But it's a different thing where he was like you become like a mercenary. Just bring you in a couple of weeks ago. Lebron had. There's this big news that he says he's gonna add an hour to the podcast. I'll end with this a couple of weeks ago. Lebron had this big news where he tweeted out his top three players of all times. Some big publication tweeted at him. Like hey brian. You've never talked about that. So everybody's like on the edge there see what's his victory so he named. I'm not going to be mad at the list in a way because it's hard. It's so subjective. Three players really. He said larry bird which i thought. That was pretty cool. Birds the greatest small forward in the history of the game. I don't know about it. Put it on the greatest three lists. He said michael jordan. Yeah that's great. That's easy dr j. I love dr j. that's great. Maybe that's not. But how do you tweet back to him. I go really. How do you leave. Karim off the list guy won six titles one of which in milwaukee to boot. That's kind of like a guy winning one in cleveland. Oh wow that'd be like if somebody wanted. Cleveland is what i said. I said he won one in milwaukee to boot won since that'd be like somebody one in cleveland. That's what i tweeted at. Jesus christ very clever way of saying well. Thanks for leaving buddy exactly so i. I like dr j. i loved. This is why because big thing with me is changing the game. Yes and lights fine. And i'm fine with his list. I'm so how do you leave karima. Cream with kareem. If i only had three. I would have to pick three guys. Who changed the game. So be jordan. It would be dr j. And then i would have to be somebody else that i. I'm not aware of from the sixties like russell. I mean i mean you get lost. Was it. oscar rahm through scott all the point. Yeah yeah. Oscar was great. People don't realize how great bob pettit was about it. Was i know that there's somebody from that era. Because that's that's one of those things with like stand up. We had like like what lenny bruce did took it. First of all you had the vaudeville guys. Whoever the first guys to do that then. You haven't lenny bruce. Did then you had what prior did. And what prior did i feel like. What jordan did what. There's just some guys the the genius at such a level that it's you it's you can't surpass it. Yeah it's they almost take it to the end. I would say like james brown. James brown the the music that he made. There's been a zillion funk bands after him but nobody ever took it to another level game yet. Never think jeb are. I don't know how you can leave tomorrow for you. Changed the game. He changed it he. He won six titles magic. Never one without it. How old how did he change. The game changed the game by well first off they outlawed dunking right but they would wilt chamberlain the because of well. Here's how he changed. The game both ends of the floor. He was russell. Russell couldn't do what jabbar did on the offensive end. You can say wilt chamberlain. Yeah he was dominant but because they moved jabbar away from the basket chamberlain couldn't do anything away from the basket. Jabbar developed the skyhook from twenty feet out and he was. He was russell on both ends at a court and a russell couldn't play offensively jabbar. It's not even close jabbar the fact he won't oldest man ever to win a finals. Mvp award that guy won the nba. He won the nba finals. Mvp at thirty eight. I mean come on man. In a young. I disliked karen like seriously. Like what's what's the name of your podcast by the heads court. Yeah if you want to listen to a guy really knows. Sports post to me being anderson call tomorrow former oriole brady anderson. I guy i gotta hit fifty so it should be an interesting conversation. Starting with the intensity the crowd how much it meant to them Being able to watch on tv you get a a great understanding of how passionate those fans are. Obviously the arena. Hold seventeen thousand. It's been fifty years almost fifty years since they've won nba finals and see sixty sixty five thousand people outside the arena screaming. What was the atmosphere like. What was the situation like compared to other finals. You've been to or been a part of yes because of what was outside and we did our nba countdown show kind of on a balcony overlooking that they call the deer district in twenty. Five thousand fans Earlier in the series and then it became they said sixty sixty five thousand opened it up opened up more space on both of it. It was unlike anything i've ever seen. Your toronto had the toronto had that outside the arena when they were winning when they won their championship. I think maybe you're to prior jurassic park right and so that was comparable. This was unbelievable. It felt like a college football environment like outdoors just The mass of people was incredible. I mean three times the amount outside and It was a hungry city city that was love that franchise has been really loyal loyal through a lot of lean lanier's fifty years obviously between titles. And you know they've had good teams in milwaukee through the years like you remember the eighties with you. Know sidney moncrieff and bob lanier terry. Cummings like they were a perennial playoff team that get to the second round. Usually maybe lose the boston philly when those teams richest better but this is just. There's this great law. Affair they are and phoenix was to phoenix. Obviously as they haven't milwaukee's been very good now for several years the honestly no way Phoenix obviously had been terrible For a number of years bought ideal really passionate fan base and there's great nba history in phoenix than had. Meanwhile they'd never championship they organization really until the last several years. Seventy nine years. Whatever it's been Where they've really fallen off. And all of a sudden devon booker. Chris paul monty williams change that and so it was really chew fan. Bases that hadn't experienced winning to this level hadn't been in the finals in a very long time and so Really i thought both cities it was. It was really remarkable. I think you feel it even more because we've been without fans for so long and we started the season we ended. The season with autumn started the season without him and it was pretty amazing to look around and we had adam silver on our show on countdown before game a four. I think and we were just talking about that about the fact that we went from fans to what was just a pretty rockets rockets environment. I definitely agree with you. I just wanted to get your perspective because you were there on the ground being able to watch. I got friends who obviously intended to gain Ex teammate pat who in now champion well-timed. I'm happy for him. Because i understand. The process is taken for him to get there being a baseball player. Being a rotation god second round pick gets traded and finds the initial championship caliber team where he's making impact place pet connotation i. I really didn't get a chance to talk about it on air. But i was talking about it. I've ever sitting there with jalen. Rose a few times I remember when he came in the league in portland with you guys. It came in the second round great athlete. I think you're the one who told me once. Or maybe david banner parole about like greg golfer could throw football sixty or seventy really throw a football and obviously we know a a big prospect in baseball and i kind of always thought maybe pat would play a year or two and maybe he'd go back to baseball and he is carved out an incredible. Nba career. He was a valuable piece for that team. And he was for you guys in portland too. And i think in milwaukee he really like you said you really. He had some big shots in that series. Create rebound remakes. Just makes winning. Plays and i know you. I know you enjoyed playing with them. And and but i thought he was to me. Let the real key role guys to help. Milwaukee get back in the series when they got down early. The i definitely agree. I i had to shut him out guy really happy for him and you talked about it. They can baby is gonna play a year. Maybe he's gonna play two years now. He's carved out quite a career in the nba. We'll obviously get an extension somewhere. Probably ima walkie. You had eight rebounds. Didn't score but made a lot of winning plays throughout the game and at what point was the leading three point field goals made for the bucks during the finals ryan. So shout out to him. But we'd be remiss if we didn't talk about some the star players obviously starting with What he was able to accomplish Not only throughout the season but coming back from that injury in on five or six days injury we thought was going to in this season and maybe put next season in jeopardy. Did you expect him to do he did i i can answer i i expect him the dominate but he took dominate into a whole new level of where he made fifty look easy. Absolutely especially coming off the injury you said. Cj he said it he thought his not only his season was over. He might be out for a year. They worried that he had a really injured that need to go from where he was when he went down and they win the last couple of games without him and get by atlanta to all of a sudden he's warm up game warning plays really well in game one and then just fully dominates the series from game two on loss game too. He played incredibly. Then the rest of the series forget it. he was That was an all time. Nba finals performances. And i mean it's funny. Cj you think back to just late in the season latte like he wins back to back. Mvp's people still ask. Can you really build a championship team around. You can go to at the end of games..

"The eighties Here. Pure eighties by Rocco Uncut 80 track. Yeah. It is another the beginning of another fiscal year. In this July 1st now to most people That don't mean nothing. But this day means something to one. Bobby Bania Bo. As it is Bobby bony a day It is the day that Bobby Bania gets. Hopefully, I hope he still goes to the mailbox. I hope he saunters to the mailbox. In a tasteful robe, holding a mug of tea. It just goes to the mailbox, and he opens it up, and he sees Check from the New York Mets, and he goes Like clockwork, because on every July 1st Bobby Bania, and he's gotten now 11 of these $1,193,248.20 checks from the Mets. He will get That large sum of money every year on July 1st. Until 2035 Alright, 2072 will be 72 at that point. It's pretty good, Pretty good. He's got 14 more of these checks to get yo. It was all because it differed some money and he does money. Yeah, but he's getting, but he got it at an interest rate, Didn't he? Before they had he? He agreed to the buyout. Because when they went through Was that there was the Wilpons and went to the fiasco there or the palms is the one thing. Yeah, they're messing around with Madoff. Yeah, you made off yet made up And so it was. Look, we need the money to do this. I don't know what, what they needed it for what the Mets needed it for. He said. Okay, but you're gonna you're gonna hook me up on the back end like I I'll give you what you want. But I'm going to get more out of it. It's going to take me a little longer to get it a lot longer to get it, But I'm going to I'm going to keep getting it. So that was the deal because they were kind of cash strapped at the time, because the Ponzi thing So, Yeah, he made out like a bandit. I mean, he's probably still got me probably get enough anyway, but damn and 1.1 every year. Awesome. She's like. I mean, he probably like forgets after it was like, Oh, damn. It's June 30th God, just but like the the joy we feel. When we find money in pants pockets or, you know in your car, you know you lift up the center console. You're rooting around in there for something? All of a sudden, is a $20. Bill. I don't care how much money you have. There's a certain joy you feel when you find money. That's why the phrase found money is People love found money. If you forget that every July 1st you get 1,183,002 and $48.20, and you're suddenly reminded that you get that Every year and you will for another 14 years. That dude, he must not even walk on these days. He just levitates above the ground because I don't know what could make you any happier than that. Well, you know, it's funny, though. It's funny because Dennis Gilbert was his agent. He negotiated this this little arrangement. And Daryn rivals got a pretty interesting tweets is on July 1st Bobby Bunny has deferred deal with the Mets gets celebrated as the greatest deal ever. But is it if Bania had put the initial money? In the average S and P 500 fund and got the average return, he would have made nine million more than he has today. Now it's like Shut up. You want to get away with doing buzzkill? Well, that's that's assuming forget that guy. It's not about making money is the fact that this guy is going to get $1.1 million until he's 72 years old court literally doing nothing does reveal have to pee in the Cheerios all the time. What he means by that. It's just that I don't care. What do you mean, if you had invested it? Smartly. Your money up front is probably a better deal than his 1.193. But you know what? What are than investigate? Smart setup is having somebody mail you a check first. Or why are you money on July 1st that totals one point 1,193,000 Ternate for $48.20. You know how to put the contract would have said they're going to. They're going to bring me over a big check like a big game show check. Every year. Just make a spectacle out of it. Yeah, just like why not as checked Big gas prices, right? You know what, even better even better if they're playing At Citi Field on July 1st. They got to give it to him on the field before the game before first pitch. Oh, that'd be nice like it re carpet ceremony. Dancing girls and Mr Met has to hand him the oversized check with his oversized hands. So he's his deal guaranteed him 8% interest. He deferred 5.9 million He will wind up for that. Getting 29.8 million off of what? So contrary with Darren Rovell said it worked out pretty good for well, No, he turned rebel, just saying he could have made more. The bottom line is that you have that kind of scratch. You can make big money, but Yeah, I mean, think about it, 5.9, and you turned it into 30 mil. And when the Who do you know they would have 5.9 million. And just let it sit somewhere for 30 years and not touch a cent of it This way. You can't touch it because you don't get it until the next year. That's the best part about yourself. Just like you won the lottery. A rich guy won the lottery. Yep. Exactly. Oh, no, It's getting a lot of money. It's more get more. You know, You don't know what you're gonna invest in. Athletes invest in all kinds of things, restaurants and all kinds of failed ventures, and they they lose huge sums of money. This just guarantees that you invested in something that was going to be a winner. And yeah, you could rebels right? He could have one more. But Bernie A was smart in that he basically he won You just want to win? Yeah. Careful, 30. You've won be careful about gone. The Mets a winner. I don't know if to be best Winter literally only done that once He's getting money every single year, though. That's the best actually got money from the words like five years after I retired there, The check wasn't nearly as much as this one at all. Then I didn't get it. Every year I got to like every year is like a regular paycheck like every two weeks because that was the That was the deal. Why don't get anymore Wouldn't like. I gotta interest. I just got what was old to me? No, I'm it was still pretty cool, though. I know. I know. I know. That's why you're laughing. But it was nice every two weeks to go out there. Go. I don't even play for these jokers anymore. Nice. Thanks a lot. I appreciate that. That was nice. I did appreciate. I mean, it wasn't It was a pittance compared to that, but it was so nice in it. Look any time. You gonna check? And you feel like you didn't work for it like you already did. You already worked for it. Like I earned that money. Residual checking? Yeah, but I was Sugar Ray Leonard. You got like a result wasn't earning it at the time that the dad, Dad, my earning part was over. Like I have done all the work and everything. And now I was getting the money. It was like, Oh, man, That was a sad day. I was in mourning last stop doesn't Oh, man. I'm off the door. Last damn shack. It's really sucks. And it was even more fun too, because I knew they had to pay me like God Dang, we're still paying. This guy didn't check Do you think they're still paying people that are no longer there? Are they? Have They clean that out the words. Yeah, Probably. They're not still paying. Terry Cummings are there. You know, Chris Mills probably has three more years left. He had the most ugly. Nice contract to think Ontario coming Still driving. That's the Chris Porter. Corey McGeady, Are they? Yeah. Oh, man, Uh, Bobby Sura is still drawing a paycheck from the Golden State Warriors. Somebody in accounting needs to be alert to better. Yeah. Who's this? Dude? I don't even know this dude. Is the inner team. Yeah, like there's a zarco Chip Arequipa, who is getting 500 grand? It hit the three pointer to stick the one but Yeah that that we came back in one. That and i'm saying we know i'm not the thirteenth man But yet it does feel that way considering a been cheering for the team since I was a kid i think. One of the last game seven playoff series we won. I think was like beating the sixers when i was in high school with like dr j. So wow day. Seven playoff history yet. Jack ma sydney moncrieff terry cummings parring gronkowski. Yes what bukowski was a little later. Paul mccaskey you. Our coalition center of of choice. I'm but yet it's been a pretty tough run as a milwaukee box fan over the years. Some maybe maybe there's light at the end of the tunnel this year. Just maybe that'll be really cool. I can't even imagine if you were a die-hard bucks fan what that journeys lake and then to see. If they could win a championship. It would be probably pretty incredible would be pretty cool. Good luck man. Good luck close to what. It's like to be in new york mets fan. I mean you like everybody else. You know they went with. The yankee went to the world series. Four or five years ago though they went to the world series in two thousand. I guess it's fair. Yeah all right. Best comparison look the mets. Are new york you know. "TC, otherwise known as Terry Cummings. And it was a good night for the admiral as well. Today is ground hog day. People have been celebrating ground hog day for centuries. According to folklore at the ground hog emerges from hibernation and does not see his shadow. He's back in the home. Signifies the end of winter is near. On the other hand, if the ground hog does see his shadow, he will retreat back into his burrow and winter will continue. For at least another six weeks. I asked the question yesterday, and I'll ask it again because nobody gave me an answer. Six more weeks of winter. We're exactly where and what actually defines winter isn't winter on a calendar? Yes, a certain exact period of time. I don't know who came up with the idea for pucks. A tawny Phil, but I do know that, like I said, they've been doing this for centuries. Is Ground hog. Marsupial or a rodent eroded. I'm gonna go rodent. Being The marsupial this fancy word for rodent. Actually, it is a rodent. It's not a marsupial. Sometimes ground hogs. They're called woodchucks. Which means charity one out. Give you the conquest Er about woodchucks. Go right ahead if a woodchuck Could Chuck Wood? That's it? I don't know. That's only God. How much wood would a woodchuck Chuck? If a woodchuck could chuck Wood? He would chuck he would as much as he could and chucked as much wood as a woodchuck. Would if a woodchuck could Chuck Wood you have that memorized? Oh, my goodness! Dang woodchuck! Quit chucking my wife. Exactly what you want, isn't it only takes one..

"What do you think of Browns game? And how much better do you think you can get? Because I he Me his. He's one of the real up and coming young players in the league. The I agree Larry's place. You know both sides of the ball. You know it, Z Plane at an all Star level and I die die Greek up. He's been there most consistent and best player. And it's been steady progress for him his keys. He came in really out. Those are rookie was really good, and he just keeps on getting better. Was funny with the Celtics that year. You know, unless you with Kyrie. They got two great start. He sat out and those other guys emerged. And then Carrie never stood back in. But those guys kept improving on some art Tatum, Jalen Brown. You know, maybe placed, um, carry with Kemba Walker. So they've got them kind of nice team, and I think they, you know Brad Stevens obviously coming from the college ranks, he's been able to incorporate a lot of the fundamental Um, you know, I wouldn't say college with fundamental skills of a good team and kind of make it a little more fast paced, Um, they've seen the good They do a good job of moving the ball. You know, trying to spread the spread the ball around for you? Well with potato in jail in brown, there is a beautiful perimeter players are on the league. And you know this to a child that I think that 10 and eight you know, you'd think they'd be a little better, but I think, Taylor Mr Bunch of games with the protocols and things like that. You know, Campbell was banged up, but he hasn't really gotten back out the full strength yet. Women when they're locked in, and they're clicking on all cylinders. I think they're you know, to me on the East Coast, 14, Milwaukee, Brooklyn, Philly and Boston. Depending on you know, the health and all these other things that are going to go into who find themselves. That's you know, it's the four best teams back there. So it's come here. Good, good test for the worst of all. I hope you guys don't mind. I wanted Tonto. Ask Chris about John Chaney, a great temple coach. You passed away last week. Did you ever did you ever run across that matchup zone? Do you ever have to play against that? Absolutely. He was the first one really good friends with coach Carnesecca. So on we played them any for my junior year. But this way I recently you know I was. I went back to ST John's and coach, and it was ah. A little Greek restaurant I was going to on the way home. Alone. Behold, you know, obviously name is Gus. Of course. He's a great guy from the O. But you know he was a manager, a temple, and he stayed there for like. Three years after his graduating was really close with coach Changed, We would jump on the phone every once in a while when I was in rehab anyway, so I called just to daylight. So the news and I just didn't I'm sorry to hear about that. I said to my condolences to his family, and I should just tell him I never forgot that we play. So thank you for we think the first round Of the infidelity tournament. And they were good team that Terrence Stansbury there was solid and we're up. We're up. I think we're up. We're up one. I get to the line at the end of the game. It's the one I wanted, and I think for the I was shooting really well from the season. I was having a decent game, so it wasn't even like that. It's like out. It's not be down. There's no three point line. Somebody knocked these two down. I'm out. And I missed it. I missed the free throw and stands very throws a shot from half court like our season's All of my do Like what? Like, Damn, I'm telling gust about this. You know, He's a younger kid. He has no idea what I'm talking about. Later on that night, he sends me, I guess on the temple. Website. Someone posted that box score. So you're seeing him aren't generally too much shit with Mark Mark. They go through the door. I said, Yeah, I guess I got apologize. I missed that free throw. You know, I'm a bomb. And now I know I've got to take full accountability by lost that game. Sorry about that. But, yes, John Chaney was one of those guys. You know, Coach concept was closely and I had a tremendous impact on his players. No well beyond the basketball court. I'm sure Iolaus was tight with him. You know, the whole silly connection? Yeah, just just a good old guy, man. So condolences impresses family. You know, we all wanted to see what would have happened if you two got to Calipari during that press conference, Chris Stood. That was insane. It would have been attempted murder their lives. You don't doubt my mind. If you would have got to him. He would have. You would have made good on that on That threat tried to be good. Hey, that was another that no, no, no, That was not a testosterone presentation That was righteous fury and anger. He was, Yeah, he wouldn't play and no, it wasn't like it wasn't like the NBA. Chris pretend about the envy and how guys when they swear up their bases squaring up, hoping Somebody'll come grab him from behind. They don't actually have to stand there for more time than they need to stand there, because no one wants to throw a punch in the embassy cause too much money. No one's as tough as they think they are in the embassy, and they don't want to prove it in front of a national audience or our television camera. Have you noticed? And we grew up in a different era to where guys actually were like I tell these guys all the time, but like I was afraid of anybody percent. But I wouldn't have been real happy to square up against Oakland. That would not have been my first choice. Maybe my millions choice but there was some serious dudes back Then, In the end, BA Rod mentioned Buck Williams is this Maybe the strongest guy I ever played against Terry Cummings on Anthony Mason. I mean, there there was some dudes that were legitimately kind of Coo coo and you didn't really you didn't really want to cross a digit No. Then then, And now, as far as Mr Rocca today, that's a good point. You know? I used to work up the next month, Charles. I mean, I've known for a long, long time is a great guy. But he had that switch man, and he did have an off. Switch it on switch. All right, right. No. You know what it was. It was a dimmer switch. So he was always on. It was just the intensity was you know dick did you turn to switch? Did you turn it up? Well, now you're getting slapped because you owe him money. You know, like when you when something happens in the game, like it might compare the fire, but Charles, You just compel it. Fires always burning like, you know. Chevron into class war, she said. Charles Guy's number years ago, Chris, We're I was in Vegas doing the shows from there, and I was sitting in a bar watching the Dodgers and the Cardinals was a playoff game. Remember looking and hey, just happened to pull up a chair, and I So we talked for a little bit. I mean, he's a super cool guy. We're tired. Of course, you know, we went off on the next and all that stuff, So that was kind of funny, But, yeah, he was just that dude because I had to battle against him. What? And you know he would get in there through the elbows. So I gotta throw the elbows. You gotta be a box him off and try to keep up the glass. Every once in a while one of the elbows once stray and it might hit him on the spot that you didn't want to hit him. He didn't mean to hit him, but he'd give me that look and you almost wanted to say Sorry, Mr Oakley. You okay? Yeah, I did that. That won't happen again. I didn't mean for it to happen. "I just can't see it. It's not an airtight case. No, but it's okay for me to stick up for my teammate but not him to stick up for his teammates. So again, I don't know it was said early I don't know what wait, Ellington said to the piston bench or said to McGruder. Maybe they sit next to each other on the bench, and he said something to him and McGruder was hacked off because they're getting their ass is handed to him. And he only had to come in for the last two minutes. That could be a part of it. I don't know There's a lot of factors. Ah, lot of factors here. Uh, I don't know that you need to say someone's gonna be out of lead in two weeks. But hey, that that I don't know that doesn't seem warranted. But I don't know what he said. So maybe I would have said, Hey, you go ahead, fire some shots If he said that I said that to you, it just we happen to catch clay on the microphone the time this whole thing This whole thing happened and then is far is dreamin again. Here's the look, you would do the same thing that dream. I'm going to stick up for anybody that wears a warrior uniforms, the that that you can bet and I don't know why it's OK for him to stick up for somebody. But not one of the Pistons and stick up for one of their guys that made no sense to me whatsoever. But as usual in these MBA verbal confrontations, because most of time, even if they did want to fight, they hold their fists up like the Jack dad. Nobody's gonna fight until someone comes Good prism everyone to come together and they wanted to look like they're going toe. It's like one of those fights where they like, kind of, like, hold their fists up there getting ready to fight, and they're like Somebody grab me. Somebody grabbed me and they want to get that kind of want to get grab. So looks like they're not backing down, but they kind of are back and they were not really backing down, but they don't really want to go through it. You might have the occasional dude square up. No one's going to hook off. No one. No one is going to throw a punch. You have far too much to lose money in particular. No one is gonna throw a punch and dead and dream on were in that situation. He'd be the loudest voice he'd be barking allowed us and you know what? He's not touching anyone, either. That doesn't make him weak doesn't make him a chump, but it makes him a smart None of these guys are throwing punches. It's always going to be a testosterone presentation. Always. It's always gonna be dudes. Chow jacket. That's it across the league, Okay? Maybe PJ maybe p. J. Tucker would choke a guy out. That's the only guy think of Tom. I have to think about that in the steam not alive. Tiny parent, I guarantee you this If you want to have a 20 man Royal rumble. Yeah, I'll take my here in the league in this area without a doubt. This is different. Oh, yeah. Do you call it I need it is Oakland. Mason. I'm good. Yeah. Buck Williams Way. Throw him in any ruling there one of them probably right, Terry Cummings in there Without a doubt get after James Edwards would come in. They're very stoically moving people out of the way. Yeah, we could take a 50 dudes. From your We could think of 50 dudes from from, you know the mid two thousands right now. Right now. No, not not not not not. It's all it's all about talking. It's all about popping your you know, just popular. Anybody fighting anybody, including Trey, Mama, Stop it! Stop it! Stop it. It's a great sound bite and it gives us nice. Nice stuff to chew on. But I mean, come on, guys. Take the high road. Take the high road. It's Rodney McKay. Well, now you know what guys talk about on the bench. Yeah, it does. That is close to you'll see it is you were you're going to get you know it was it was probably person like said it's probably Mama. Baby mama, something son thing again just flipped a switch. I don't really know until I know exactly what McGruder Said the only two points I will stand by is one. I don't care how good you are. You can't talk doesn't matter. You don't have to be good to talk. And then too. You can't get mad at somebody for sticking up for his teammate. When you just you just stuck up for your teammate, the same sound like you could matter to do for not sticking up for his teammate. That's what you get mad at him for the opposite now, So I mean, really, Here's the key to the story is want is kind of Anderson. Yo, man, What did you say? What happened there? "Lanka boosted the bottom of the hour. One thing I had my notes today you called a lot of his games 22 years ago. Today, the words traded with Charles Frere it'll the mix for John Starks, Chris Mills and Terry Cummings. Spree. Yeah, that was after I put a little mustard Must have Ah, e remember the trust very well. Very, very well from when he was drafted. And you know, when he came into the N b A. I thought he was the next er done. He couldn't score you could he could lock you up and right away. He was gonna be a Tremendous defensive player in the NBA, but his athleticism I He's a lot to me like in a Guard version more of it straight to of Kalai, Leonard. Where he didn't know the code. I would be this good offensively. Spree. I mean, right away, is a rookie. He averaged 15 points a game. What happened? Was he you know, he got and Chris Webber side of the locker room. And you know what? Hardaway tours a CL They decided together. And I lost that team. You know, it just became Hueber and spree. Well, and you know, on the other side was the rest of the guys. Molly and Tim was hurt. Mitch was already traded and It was. He was just, you know, you're talking about Dan Campbell. The tough guy. The trust free Well, was a incredibly tough guy. And borderline insane. I remember he had One or two attack dogs. I think they were government ventures, Maybe Rottweilers. And the dog bit his daughter's ear off. And shoes, a child, just a baby, and it happened that day. We had a pre season game that night and he comes out. He's no layup line. I forgot where we were Stockton or somewhere. Could not believe he was in a play. I've ever say no, I'm you don't have to play this game to take the game off. And he just that steely eyed Look and He played and he even He was tough. He was a top player. And then you know, obviously what happened with PJ Carlesimo. When I was gone. That year, I was already in San Antonio. So I just heard the stories from PJ and mainly from ST And you know how insane he Woz, you know, coming up to saints office and just tipping things over and it got it got bad and then they wind up. You know, because of the situation with You know, after he got to know, with Carlos tomorrow, I'm going up the state's office and basically was gonna kill P. J was gonna kill him. And they, you know, so they always the figure $68 million. He didn't get paid. And it was. It was bad. He got suspended ports. Thank God and all that, and No, he wanted up getting traded, and he did well. He was a good player with the Knicks, where it went sideways for him was the end of his career in Minnesota. When Forget to figure remember, he told Glenn Taylor, the owner, the champ, You got it right here. It's hard to feed your family. How many million eight, so he's coming off of five and 62 with the Knicks gets traded to the Timberwolves. Hey, was offered an extension for three and 21 so he's coming off of 5 62 gets offered three and 21. And he says, quote. Why would I want to help them? Win a title? They're not doing anything for me. I'm at risk. I have a lot of risk here. I got my family to feed it was like, but the line was it's hard to feed your family. I like 18 Million or whatever. It was three and 21. Yeah. So Yeah, he, uh And what was the he was in an ad? Uh, he was well after a lot of a couple of years ago, and he was key Got really heavy, didn't you? Yeah, It was a lot of what was that? What was that company was he was doing ads. We like walk by and he ate like somebody's french fries off the table or something. I don't remember. Exactly Remember. He was an idea that he was really He was really heavy. You got heavy. Oh, yeah. What was that? Oh, no, I can't remember. No idea what all this It was like. Is that literal spree? Well, like you just came out of nowhere. Right? It was like the trail spree. Well, commercial for Priceline. Was that one? The one? Yeah. That must have been it. But he got he got huge that you fire this up. Yeah. So anyway, he was, You know, terrific player. He really was. Yeah, I think it was. You know what else? I remember him when he was when Michael was out of the league. People started calling spree. Well, man, he was Mitch, but they referred to spree. Well, if somebody told spree Michael that spree Wells, the best to guard in the NBA. We were playing and, uh Two games, won one game again Chicago in San Jose. We're playing it safe to say that one year He showed up like 45 minutes late for the game. He walked in. Rick Adelman was a coach, and the score was like 28 before something Chicago. It's like spring. Where the hell you ban In a game may have tipped off. It may have been on national TV and you know he's got caught in traffic, like really, and he walked into the game. He Adelman never even saw because I could see him coming through the tunnel. And he just basically checked himself in the game. It was like, what do you doing? You're the head coach, and he shows up late. You may not know how to play the whole game and you're getting rolled anyway, so you may want to hold him out. But he was just out of control and one game. Michael had it out for him. And from the opening tip. Michael went to get him. You know what Michael would hike up his shorts real hide and get low on the ground and touch. The floor. Defensively is like, Oh, here it comes. The Dover man. He's gonna be out here all day. And I never turning of Arnett in a commercial, and I said, What did spree will do to piss off Michael Jordan. He locked him obligated. He did not Scott. He scored the whole game. It's got a head like 24 in the first half. Michael didn't even teach him score his guy his whole thing. Was just shut down spree well spree well, did not have a basket until literally seconds to go in the first half, he caught an air ball. You know the old line about air balls go to the offense. It was an air ball shot. He caught it and laid it in at like at the horn to end the first half, and that was the only basket. He scored the first half. For some reason, Michael coming out of the you know, two years away, playing Baseball something somebody said something that's very well said or something, and it just pissed him off. And he completely shut spree out. Just wouldn't let him breathe. Yeah, that would not be good. That was it. Every single time Something happened and then he was like, Okay, I got my motivation for tonight. He was unbelievable in there. I usually drop 50 on you Miss game would not. He didn't want to score. Let's Scotty score that night. He just would not. He climbed in spree Wells Jersey like, what is he doing? It was incredible when you wanted the guard like that. He was the best. All right, Caboose pistol time We'll do it coming up national here on the sports later. Did you know you can listen to Papa in London? Your Google home? Smart speaker. Just say play. Okay.
