Super Bowl 54 Recap
"Kansas City Thirty One San Francisco Twenty air it. It is Mitchell as he's been waited his whole damn life to make that call and cheese fans. They've been waiting fifty years for their team to Hoist Lombardi and it finally finally happened on this. The second of February two thousand twenty the Kansas City chiefs are the super bowl champions after that thirty one to twenty win over the San the average Cisco Forty nine dollars a game in which they were down like they were all their postseason games by double digits. This time in the fourth quarter and yet Patrick Mahomes and company would not not be denied. Dan Heads here the around the NFL podcast presented by little caesars. And yes I'm coming to you from a hard rock stadium that is filled with heroes mark. Sesser Chris Wesseling and Greg Rosenthal. What is up boys? Hey Dan still filled with some chiefs fans and employs employs. Usually I feel like we start the taping after midnight. got going a little quicker like there's still an MVP chant going on the exciting. These fans. Don't WANNA leave. They've waited. You know half a century for this. Yeah usually when we're here it feels like we're ghosts like passing passing through a stadium and and and you can't. You're not sure if you're humid or not until you get back to the hotel but in this case where here. The field is is covered in confetti. Where on the third level the really Nice hardrock stadium here in Miami was great Super Bowl Week? A lot of fun a great city for a super bowl the eleventh and Super Bowl in this area which is most just past New Orleans and If you're a cheese fan this was the dream come come true and I got to watch the second half of this game in the seats With my cousin Matt and I just you know watching an older gentleman guy looked like he was in his fifties with his wife Cheese FAN IN JERSEY. As that game it became clear. After obviously the Damian will even before the Damian Williams run that clinched it it was becoming clear then the Williams touchdown and then there was this release. Like Oh my God the chiefs are GonNa win the Super Bowl and it was a well-earned win and one that didn't look particularly like it was heading in this direction even halfway through the fourth. That's quarter the chiefs to me. Their players and coach Kinda remind me of the fans. It's been so long since they got that Super Bowl in Randy read. It's been so long a guy like Frank Clark find his way there. Honey Badger finds his way to Kansas City to make this happen. Terrell suggs is lucky enough to come along for the ride at the end of the year. A lot of I just find their way to Kansas City and end up winning this one and you're right fourth quarter at midway through the fourth quarter forty nine hundred ninety five point six percent win probability. I know that's not your stat. The latest evidence that people need to stop talking about win probability it means nothing other than a twitter talking boy. It means it means it's unlikely the other team's GonNa win and now know Kyle Shanahan. Would it peaked at about ninety nine point wait. Six percent against the Patriots early in the fourth quarter always had ninety five point six percent. The percentage. I don't think takes into account Patrick Mahomes uh-huh it just doesn't or the chiefs offense or Andy Reid like the way that you have to dominate Patrick mahomes and make his life. If uncomfortable for sixty minutes I think is the hardest thing to do in the NFL. The forty niners balled out on defense. Not Unlike I believe the the Seahawks balled out on defense against the broncos. They did so many things right for the first three quarters. I think in a lot of scenarios and with a lot of quarterbacks that game would have been twenty seven to six at with eight minutes left in the fourth quarter and they're never could've been a comeback but mahomes got out of a lot of plays blaze. That could have gone worse. He had a lot of negative. Plays the chiefs defense. Did just enough and it just shows you. Yeah you can. You can do a lot while. They held him to five point three yards per play which is a very very low number for the chiefs and she's still put up thirty one points in nine drives. They barely have the ball. They still went over not surprising. Because that's what they've been doing for for months and months and if we had one kernel of information going into the for the last two weeks to to base our analysis on that the chiefs and Patrick Mahomes I would open the third quarter with back to back picks by Patrick Mahomes and that the niners would be nestling a twenty two ten lead minutes into into the fourth. You would think this is a perfect setup for San Francisco to run away with this thing but if you give Patrick Mahomes even ten minutes to operate and it gets hot. Aw everything's off the table. Fifty fifty two and a half minutes of game time the niners down day and I remember thinking as has the game was reaching as it's ticking through the fourth quarter and they have a twenty two ten lead and thinking what made the chief. So unstoppable all when they were humming the regular season but especially in those two comebacks in the AFC playoffs it. was that big play ability. That the niners there's through their dominant front four. Were taking away. Mahomes running for his life just by his brilliance kept the game close because is almost any other quarterback decided. Lamar Jackson has a couple sacks. Fumbles and the game gets away. Like what Von Miller Cam Newton a few years back but he was able to stay on his feet. Keep the game from getting away and the what really sticks out to me at that moment again. Midway through the fourth quarter after the tyreek hill catches is overturned on review. And you feel the entire building is psyching up. It feels like the niners are about to make the big play. Plays away from winning the super. Aw It is third and a miles third and fourteen. I believe third and fifteen and I leaned to my cousin Matt. I said the most likely play. Is You get try to get half of this back and then make a manageable fourth-down fourth and five and get it done. But no that's not what the chiefs do that's not how they operate and even a game where they never made any big plays with the season on the line mahomes dropback. This time found tyreek Hill West on a busted coverage and that changed
Chiefs' plans for Terrell Suggs bigger than keeping him from Ravens - Kansas City Chiefs Blog
"The Kansas City Chiefs play their last road game of the season Sunday night of the regular season at Chicago taking on the players she should get a little fan on the defensive side of football defensive end because some injuries she three will make a little move this week claiming a veteran Terrell Suggs off waivers from the Arizona Cardinals guided to pretty productive member the Baltimore Ravens for many years on their defense and no cheese Rabal to **** him up here late in the year chiefs head coach Andy Reid talked about getting Terrell Suggs CarPlay player just see how it feels amazing goes he's he's a straight shooter is tell you how he feels worries out so then we'll just take it day by day like that but tell you off the tape he still can play and loves to play me loves to play the game is one of those kind of guys so we're we're glad to have him here maybe he's kind of got a slot in certain situations right your

"This game and so everyone is talking about on a national level. I one way the in chiefs Ravens Patrick Mahomes Lamar Jackson on. Espn Michael Vick reiterate. That again the seems is beat the Ravens twice. They'd be them last year when the mob junk fairly getting into his group but this year they beat him early in the season. And you know Patrick. Mahomes has got to attack all areas of the field. And I know this is before they got Marcus Peters but when you got a guy like Patrick Mahomes who can do it all then every defense offense can be put up on the rest so I think they're the biggest threat to the Ravens. The Ravens face quarterbacks packs from home so I'm eager to see with this matchup going to look like it might not be at home for Catholic Kansas City because that's what both of the winds took place it'll be on the road to me. It's getting more and more obvious that the chiefs are the number one threat threat for the Ravens. Do you think they're a bigger threat to open it up then even NFC teams right now. I have a hard our time bidding against the chiefs right now in. Maybe maybe the saints. I mean the saints are pretty good. Contender there Patrick Mahomes. When he's on is going to put you in that football game you are going to have a very good chance of winning? That game is going to go down to the wire and I would have a hard time bidding against Patrick Mahomes against against anybody so yes I think the are the biggest threat. I think the saints are pretty big threat to a former chief. A friend era had pride. A brother of starting right tackles of the Kansas City chiefs. Mitch Ward Jeff. Schwartz was asked about this situation on the heard will their pass defenses. Here's a big difference. Pass pass defenses top five. They're excellent the past which has been different than they have. Some integrators really been there. They're the ones that can be Baltimore. My opinion in the AFC because they can score points sights will often focus on what Lamar is doing. He's been great. You'll be the MVP. It's a hard offense to stop but if you can score points you put them in uncomfortable situations. They have not been in a lot this year. They've I have not been behind in Games. They haven't had to keep up with someone else they blitz lot pam homes is great against the blitz. A bunch of guys get beat man coverage you know hell and Kelsey and Watkins and Robinson and Hardman. You're so deep in that situation in that in that situation that the chiefs I think are the best option to beat the Ravens. I think they're the only league team in the AFC that could put up a lead on the Ravens where you see game at the beginning of it. Where maybe the chiefs can come out score touchdown all of a sudden as Jeff Schwarz's looting to their pass defense steps up? They stop the Ravens either on third down and they kick a field goal. Or you know John Harbaugh Harbaugh. Maybe they stopped on fourth down and all of a sudden it's fourteen nothing and just like that the game has changed. You can change the script a little bit and force them into a situation where they've gotta be more aggressive passing assing down the field and I mean I if you WANNA turn it into a passing competition. Patrick Mahomes is going to run circles around Lamar Jackson and it's not going to be close us Here's here's some stats. Someone was tweeting this out earlier. Lamar Jackson Scott Thirty Games under his belt. Four thousand ninety yards passing thirty nine touchdowns Patten homes has played twenty eight games to less eighty six hundred forty seven yards in seventy one touchdowns when it when you isolated in in the perspective perspective of the passing game. Yeah it's not close so with the cheese can get out into a lead. Potentially I mean we're talking about this game like it's happening tomorrow but that's the situation. The the the cheese can get out ahead of a team like the Ravens. It's it's going to be tough for the Ravens to Kinda hang with them and I it's it's it would be huge. I think our own Ron cop made a good point this week where everyone always talk about this potential matchup and everyone always mentions well the ravens. Are this different team. Who's really good now? They're well improved sewer. The chiefs writes the past. Defense Tehreek Being back in the MIC Grundy's too obvious and the chiefs are the cheese too and against Baltimore when when the market access the quarterback. I WANNA see Lamar Jackson in this offense. Go through some teams that have seen him twice. Because that it doesn't seem like the chiefs of seeing the Lamar Jackson twice now. Obviously the offense is a little bit different laster than it is this year. But they've seen him twice. They beat get your questions in right now for a live mailbags six nine three zero six. We're going to have one more around the nation this one comes again from. ESPN A den or loss. Key and Rex Ryan weighing in on this matter honor clearly. This is the biggest threat to the Ravens. They beat him head to head earlier in the year however the Ravens added to corners. Okay Marcus Peters and they got Smith Breath back so I think that's gives the ravens a an edge and I think you're going to get bad weather and we see that the chiefs look great in that bad weather but it plays into the hands of the Ravens. I think are the best team. There is no way that anyone wants to play the Kansas City chiefs chiefs the defense. This was the question all off season. I sat here six weeks ago and said Man Patrick Mahomes GonNa throw for four hundred fifty defense. This was a super bowl. Favorite eight Britt. That now has a defense. They're fast on the defensive end. They're getting turnovers on the defensive.

"Film analysts Craig's doubt in just a few moments we're gonNA continue with some I'm Terrell suggs. Talk and Andy. Reid was at the podium today. The cheese didn't put your house. Hugs there so it was hard to hear him in the locker room. But Andy Reid you could hear loud and clear here or his comments On Terrell suggs and read was I asked about whether or not we could see him as early as this week on Sunday Sunday night. Football play by air to see how he feels as it goes. He's he's a straight shooter. He's anti where it feels where he's out so was just taking day by day like that. Tell you off the tape. He's still can play and loves to play. I mean loves to play the game. You one of those kind of guys and you know so arguably a future hall of famers were glad to have him here and coaching before the pro. Oh Warner goes against him. But he's on our team right now in your chance to talk to him about his excitement level about coming into spotlight this the team. He's excited about you. Know he's just right. Now he's just kind of getting his bearings he just got physical. Does all all the things you have to do before you ready to play calling. And they got situated now meetings and here we are so interesting we'll practice. And so he jeff bring a voice into the defense with all all his welcomed experience and the what do you hope you can add as a voice. You're talking about an experienced guy who's been there and done it. He's won championships. He's he's been leader throughout his career. You know last long in the League if you're you're not all the player and person so he's he's a that's what that's what he brings to you a plug and play option for Sunday running now so he does know stuff. That's bags does They were together at the Ravens. And so I would say plug and play but there are things that you also have to go back and review and he is meticulous notetaker and studying I. I mean he's very passionate about making sure he knows everything play but how he goes about his business so he was digging in this morning born and getting everything down and make sure he's got all the INS and outs of the defense take. This is this is so Brad stays on top of that. You guys know that that he's relentless and fearless that way. So he's trying to do what's best for the team and he checks with. Somebody made sure he checked to stave and Stayed Goes Guy lows football. He's a great teammate. That's all bread lead here. So the rest of 'em From your experience in working when you make a move like this this leading to see how much does it come to not just the highlights put the tangible person. How much of that is waiting for the decision? Were you make a claim you gotta make sure they can play. I mean that's that's important. And then how do they fit in your locker. We've got a good locker room and we have some good leaders on this team. So how how do they fit into that. And you WanNa bring something getting disrupt where you're at right now so Brad Brad Look at all that spags here. That tyron knows them. So that's a rat or stags anybody. Could you ate them committee. I talked to him. He's not familiar with us so that I tell them about what's what's going on here and they want to hear it. Sure you wanted to know what was going on thorough guy but then I have to put the hammer down on or anything. No you have some questions and which guys do about around and and I think he liked what he heard us. Fired up wasn't recruit recruiting type Situation Kansas City chiefs head coach Andy Reid talking about Terrell suggs in what the addition means and just how the process works. You heard him there saying there was a phone conversation which you understand. I think sucks being thirty seven one to know the situation in Kansas City and it didn't take much convincing but I think it did take at least a little to get him to calm the end of the day. I don't think he was gonNA turn down an opportunity to play with Patrick Mahomes. No because because I think this this situation undoubtedly presents him an opportunity to win a super bowl. I compared to anybody. I think you could put it across the landscape. I don't think there's has anybody that has a better situation. I'm putting the Ravens in that mix too. I think that she's a right up there with anybody. The only thing that they have definitively the ravens is a guarantee almost of a homefield advantage. Let's bring in our defensive film analyst Craig Stout to hear about his thoughts on Terrell suggs. Craig what's going on man. Hey not how much guys how we doing tonight. Pretty good talk to can't a little bit before about his initial reaction when he heard about this. We'll ask you the same question when you first heard okay. Terrell all sides going to be a member of the Kansas City chiefs. What was your thought? I was excited. This was a position of need for the chiefs with foregoing down. Honestly so you could argue you know even before that with odd but going down. They needed a little more depth. They were able to find some but with the Mown Harris ten of passing those coming along but honestly honestly they needed a veteran presence. I guy that was strong against the run and Guy Kinda could go out there and have that ability ability late in January basically no window turn the switch on no with you know what the offense is going to do them kind of play a more well rounded game that we've seen of those young guys they may get there. But they're not there yet so I was ecstatic. But even before I turned on the film I was ecstatic. that the chief forgetting a player player that had that sort of translatable ability. Yeah let's talk about the film because you were so diligent Craig being ever. The overachiever goes right to the film. Film you can catch his article right now. I'm GonNa read the title of it for you. Terrell suggs film review Iq and experience and power will make an impact tacked on the defense. All good things. What did you see when you turn it on? I expected to see. It's real sucks a little slower than I was used to. which is the case? That's definitely the case. He's thirty seven. That's not that old guys. It's really not that old but it is old and football years and he he's a little slower doesn't quite have the same agility doesn't quite have the same bin but he wins with power. Still he is able to bully tackles around the field in a lot of the ways that we talked about defensive ends in the past Kinda doing and he wins with his supreme football. IQ It's such a quick. You know identifier of the play when he sees a tackle fire on a specific way he knows which gap to attack. He knows where to dip and get himself into the backfield to while he may not have the same burst and speed that he has in the past he more than makes up for it in his ability to quickly diagnose and quickly get to where he needs to be in order to you know from four some tackles for loss in sacks and things of that nature. I don't think there's anyone may be in Kansas City. Who could answer this question better than you can? Because you watched every snap of the Bob Sutton defense offense we any offseason new. The chiefs defense was a a grand weakness. Now here we are week sixteen to two today's to go. The chiefs are certainly one hundred percent headed to the postseason. We'll see what seed they are. But you got Frank Clark and Chris Jones suddenly Terrell suggs. Do you you have tire and Matthew want thornhill playing. Well the quarterbacks surprisingly playing really well did you ever in a million years expect this would be the defense and the look headed into the NFL. Playoffs I mean absolutely. We all did never any criticism of Steve Spagnolo at any any points. And you know we. We're we're all shocked. We're obviously also that they were able to turn it around this quickly. I said before the season the hope was that they would be a top fifteen points per game defense and they were. They were fluctuating around there for a lot of this year. Load a a little bit Kinda come back up. They are top ten right now playing against two you know bad offenses coming up. Frankly so they have a chance to really kind of vault himself yourself even further up their you know their way of their indeed as well playing really well I get a pass. They are getting better against the run. And Terrell suggs is only only gonNA help with that. You're particularly in January with the teams are going to see so this really has been a surprise that it was able to come together as well does it is but when you watch it on film you understand why you saw some of the growing pain. How close they were but they were finally able to make it? Click and everybody play together there. Be On the same page and that led to what. You've seen the past three or four weeks craig. I want to circle back to Terrell suggs a little bit real quick Alex Force Kinda had nothing down year. there's been some good moments for him. He just got placed on the I. R.. Obviously do you think Terrell suggs what you've seen is an upgrade over trails over Alto Kuffour whereas you about the same. Oh well the past two weeks the four Alex Okafor. A guy heard this week and the week before Alex Okafor was playing like the player that I think we all Kinda hoped that he was going to be a key made an impact rushing the passer and he said a good hard edge earlier earlier in the year he did not teams just ran away from Frank Clark and found success at that side of the field whether that'd be locavore. Can't passing now Emmanuel odd. Although Oslo is a little bit better in that regard so in that regard Terrell suggs is better than early season. Alex for one hundred percent percent just for his ability to set that good hard edge and to be able to collapse the pocket with power. Chris Jones and Frank Clark are going to be you better players simply because he's over there. You're not allowing a quarterback the ability to escape out the back side of the pocket and then the linebackers will be as well because he can set that goodhart edge and funnel things back inside where these lower linebackers can clean up the job a lot better. That is the voice of Craig Greg Stout you can catch him on twitter at barley hop. You can catch his fine work at ARROWHEAD PRIDE DOT com. We call him. The renaissance man have a good night..

"The chief of Arrowhead Pride Dot Com Rocco's working on some things behind the glass and I'm joined Bharat by our lead film and draft analyst. Hit Swanson after the chiefs. Defeat the broncos pretty soundly we we had the post game sound of Von Miller a broken and defeated man hate to see it as we do each and every week we are going to get in system chiefs news. Let you know what's going on with the injury or a huge acquisition by the chiefs this week in Terrell suggs. But first let's go back to that game. This is something I like to do. A twenty three to three win. Now that it's had a few days to marinate for you can't you've been able to swallow it you've been able to talk to your fellow nerds Craig Stout who will hear from later Matt at Lane. How did you feel about this convincing? Win for the chiefs It's it's about as good as I felt coming out of a game and that's including the Patriots game and I know that's weird to say but I think what you saw is a dominant performance on both sides of the ball. I the chiefs came out and they showed some really explosive plays they Offensively look like they're starting to click a little bit. I think they kinda shut it down as they typically do late in the game the the second half they just kind of shut it down and working to show too much but but I think you gotta feel good about where this team is heading. Because mahomes looked as good as he's is he has a long time and the defense continued to dominate. And I mean they gave up less points points this time around. They did the first time. And we were really encouraged watching them. Play the broncos on thirty on Thursday night football giving up six points I e across the board you just you got to feel great about where this football team is going. Yeah I I look at this year and you go through it rights right so you you look at each quarter good start at a little bit of an up and down stretch in the middle and now you're starting to come into your own again. I think what jumps out to me is for the first time in a long time at the end of the season. You're starting to feel really really good about the team. Like their wins at the beginning right but in the Jacksonville Jaguars game mahomes hurts his ankle and he doesn't look right the rest most of the way and you lose tyreek Hill. You weren't sure when Chris Jones was coming back. Lose Frank Clark for two games. I think seeing that a game on Sunday with Tire Matthew leading and actually really good defensive unit and against the chiefs and special teams not making mistakes. Patrick Mahomes finding tyreek Travis Kelsey being Mr Reliable back to Patrick Mahomes and the fact that he looked and he had the swagger of the MVP we saw last year. You hadn't seen much of that this year. There there's been little moments where you're encouraged you see the glimpses of the things that made him the MVP last year but the adversity that he specifically Patrick MOMS has had to to face this year. Going through a variety of injuries with the high ankle sprain early then you know the dislocated kneecap coming all the way back quickly from that in it. This team the cheese with Andy. Reid of always peaked at the worst time. They never looked like they're playing their best football ball late in the season. It feels like they might be trending to playing their best when it matters the most that that that could ultimately be what pushes the team over the Hump finally and I think the the competition in this game mattered as well to just a it was almost like a state of the chiefs organization right because pre Patrick Mahomes. Alex Smith was there. FOR PART OF THIS THE DENVER broncos continued to dominate this division dominate dominate dominate dominant. Until Peyton manning finally retires and then all of a sudden things open up and you've now beaten the broncos nine times in a row and you just look. Look at how demoralized von Miller was. I mean look if you really think back and if you are a hardcore fan you remember it. Von Miller smiling having fun every game Broncos going on the runs making the playoffs every season. That's where this team is. They are dominating the division there a sure bet to win it every your time. And that's exactly where you want to be in this game against the broncos are against the chiefs meant something to the broncos were talking they were energized is by drew. Lock Portland Sutton was talking about how they were going to shock the AFC west and shake things up in the AFC west. You saw how defeated like you said. Von Miller was this game meant something to this football team and they got obliterated and it could have been worse. It could have been worse so you gotTa feel good about where we're the cheeser rat right now as they build towards January and the outlook of this of this division they own this division. Now it's fun fun. It's it's well deserved for cheese. Fan Base that hadn't seen back to back. AFC West titles. Now they got four in a row. I said this on the mid day today with bank and this is something I'm starting to see and I just wanted to bring it up for. AP Radio as well your member your royals fan to Ken in Twenty fifteen when these guys start saying seventeen thirty eight and every enter they start getting on base and motioning towards each other. They're smiling. They're dance in there laughing. You saw Patrick mahomes sliding being on Sunday in the snow and doing a little Shimmy shake you see these guys doing snow angels before the game demarcus Robinson is throwing snowballs There's genuine fun being the hat. And it's GonNa be a fun ride because these guys not only believe in each other they like each other and again as we said. They're playing while at the same time. You're starting to get that fifteen. Take the crown type VIBE. I feel yeah and you got your Ben Zobrist because tire to hopefully potentially I mean maybe not the same impact because yeah I mean suggs is a good player but I mean that was that was a significant one but as you got that lay energy that push that that little that little jolt towards the end that you know help help Kinda take you over the top like the royals. Hopefully this is what the thrill slows can do for the chiefs. Those are our thoughts on the game. Let's get into some chiefs news. The first thing is first. And that's the injury report chiefs playing the bears on Sunday night football just a few days away so far Andrew. Wylie was the only player on the fifty three to not doc practice. Today he solicited with an illness an ankle and shoulder. The third chief now might have Frank Clark Guy Damien Aiming Williams battle that he was held out of the game. I don't know if it's the same exact illness but widely supposedly held at because of his. He was ill sill dealing with some injuries. And then Mojo clayborn and Rashad Fenton. They both returned to practice albeit limited. They've missed the last two games Damian Williams back in the Miss Nicks after the sickness. Sicknesses no longer longer listed. So he's still just limited with the rib injury everyone else was a full participant including Terrell suggs. Before we get into that which we will in a second here good to see the cornerbacks I think think back in the mix. Yeah I mean any time you can add a little bit of depth ear. They had to bring on Alex Brown from the practice squad to try to provide depth with shod in Morris Claiborne. So you've got that limited participant. Obviously we're GONNA need to monitor how claiborne and fit and go moving forward but you definitely want these guys healthy and ready to potentially contribute or provide depth for this football team towards the stretch running. It looks like these guys are heading direction and the chiefs are winning without him. Six PRO bowlers. Also named to the chiefs Frank Clark McColl Hartman. tyreek Hill Chris Jones Travis Kelsey and Patrick the homes too obvious snubs in Tire and Matthew and Mitch Warts Mitch Schwartz get snubbed every year and you can't leave a player entire and Matthew who will be a legitimate candidate for defensive player of the year. I'm not saying he's GonNa win it but in the mix for that you can't leave him out of the pro bowl. That system needs to be fixed. I don't think there's anything really else to be said about that. I one thing Tom Pal. Barrio did poll twenty five. GM's Today for an article that he released article deigned tr- Tire Matthew. So you got one defensive player of the year but they go I mean there. He's highly regarded. I don't know how you can. You can get rid of him. He's been playing greatly. So that's the injury report we know about the pro bowlers WanNa get into Terrell suggs. We know the story. Now last week released by the Arizona cardinals seem like a mutual thing puts out there that he only wants to go to the Baltimore Ravens playoff teams out there. They hear that as a what do you mean the going to the Ravens. Are you talking about so the chiefs amid a claim remembering okay. Alex OKAFOR's out. For the year he just tours peck. So the saints and the Seattle Seahawks and the San Francisco Forty niners. What does does that tell you? This guy can still play. He can still be an asset to the team. Those are three teams super bowl aspirations and then we're not just talking about. Oh they may be in the mix and kid go on and run the playoffs. No these are teams that could feasibly and almost expectedly will be in the mix there in the NFC. So the chiefs win suggs because of of their titans lost and the titans actually beneficial Ryan. Tannehill can't your initial reaction to hearing suggs wearing the red angle. I think this is a as has good of an edge player as you are going to be able to to get this late in the season. I think that's the reason that she's fans should be excited about him. You know what were the options going to be. If they weren't aren't able to make a claim on a guy like Terrell suggs was five and a half sacks. This season has not played less than forty snaps in a game that he's played in the first thirteen so he's durable. He's a guy that's it's good against the Ron. He's a guy that can disrupt the passer. You weren't going to find anybody like that on the market out there in in free agency street free agent wasn't going to provide that same kind of jolt. This is the guy that's won a ring that's got experience has got a lot of experience. I don't see any downside. I think this could really help this football team this home stretch and I I think he could make an impact on the field to this is this is a fantastic move. You have to be excited if you're a chief's fan because this is as good as you were going to get this late in the year. It's a fascinating story you too. I mean you'd think about it here. It would almost be equivalent of like Tony Gonzales wanting to rejoin the chiefs at the end of his career. Here but he ends up going to New England because they claimed him and now he might prevent the chiefs from going to run. It is a fascinating story. You could imagine that moment in the AFC title game in Baltimore. It's a war. Where Terrell suggs keeps Lamar Jackson out of the end zone? It is going to be a huge thing. "They hit the move minus. He's he's got he's got five of those on the season Thursday. If you WANNA leave us a five star review you can't the good. The news is about Terrell suggs. He can't wear fifty five so at least that. Matty do you have anything to add on Terrell suggs. The big thing to say is adding adding chill sucks. Just means you don't have to play Tato Paseo or demo- Harris as many reps as defensive while both those guys have had pretty good years. They've definitely helped the team out and everything. You're not being forced into playing them all these extra ups anymore. Terrell suggs doesn't need to play forty fifty sixty snatch the chiefs. You can cut that in half you're just gonNA use him at situations. Let him get some run. He's good to help the rotation. The defense events does not like demoniac harass passengers. Much which is we may like. They're kind of progression this year. It's not like either guys are starting level players right now so just adding suggs helps keep everybody fresh in the that helps them all. Play a little bit veterans. The game was on the only reason I could see Terrell suggs not wanting to come here is just afraid of his pack tearing because it's been the trend with the defense events for this football team. Obviously this move is massive because Alex Okafor was placed on. I are in a move to to go with this because he tore his pack. I don't see any downside. We're GONNA ask the first question here though. Just because chief England ninety five how does the addition of Trill suggs EFFEC- The defensive line rotation for the rest of the season. You kind of already alluded to it but maybe just help us figure out the role for Terrell sucks. Yeah well the big thing that you're going to get for Terrell suggs. I think he fits a little bit better than Paseo as early down defensive end in he's a little bit better against the run..
What are Chuck Pagano's plans for the Bears defense?
"Now Chuck Pegado he replaces Vic Fazio who went from Chicago to Denver. He is the new defensive coordinator of depth buyers trademark me your thoughts was well. This is the one that this this instigated the article <hes> thinking about Chuck Pagano because you lose Vic Fangio. Who is I think along with Wade Phillips the most most respected affected defensive mind in the game right well bill belichick sort of on an island up there by himself but you know throw in Romeo Coronel is another guy who's respected but we don't really we know what Chuck Pagano is? He had one year defensive coordinator with the Ravens where they finished third in defense with Ray Lewis Ed Reed Terrell suggs and then he went to the the colts and he never really had much town to work with on defense now he's token over a defense that is almost sure to regress to the mean just because they had a sky a high turnover rate loss very few games to injury last year and cannot and fifteen percent of drives with an interception like they did last year especially especially That defense every week to make up for their offense. I felt like an if you're if you're in the situation Pagano. You're going to get blamed from their earliest part of the season. It doesn't go well. Why would I want to take over some for someone who floundered before me you come in and you look on the other hand when you have a chance to work with Cleo Max Akiem Hicks Roquan Smith Dan Danny I mean they're absolutely loaded Jackson Kyle? They are loaded and yet. I think it's a tough spot to go to for for Pagano.
"terrell suggs" Discussed on The Adam Schefter Podcast
"On this week's special bonus addition of the Adam Schefter podcast, we sit down with the Baltimore Ravens. Hey, coach John Harbaugh whose team has endured a tumultuous off season as well as the Houston Texans. Ed coach Bill O'Brien whose team is suffered some losses of its own. But I the ravens head coach John Arba quite an off season for the Baltimore Ravens. I did not expect to see that much turnover. I have to say did it surprise you. How much your defense in particular has turned over the thing? Adam that you learn after many years is that never be shocked by being shocked by what happens at because you never know. You know, you never know who's going to get paid or or who's going to decide they want to go somewhere else, or you're gonna have an opportunity to bring in you know, it's just crazy that way, and it was that way for us this year. Look, no, Terrell suggs knows Daria Smith. No, CJ Moseley. No, Eric Weddell. How many those guys did you think had a chance to come back? Why didn't think we'd lose Terrell? Suggs, you know, that's the biggest thing in Quetta was was the decision that was made by the club for cap reasons. You know, so a love both those guys and they're not here. And that's just moving forward. How about CJ Moseley that was was going to be tough maybe to keep it just depends on free agents. He's a great player, you know. And there's there are a lot of guys that a lot of cap space, and and whatever the number you think is right or wrong. It really doesn't matter. It's what he's able to get you can't blame CJ for for taking care of his family way, did, but we just didn't have the kind of cap opportunity that jets, and we talked about this where it seemed like Ray Lewis past that defensive mantle leadership to Edry who passed it to Terrell suggs. And I thought she g motza who gets does it Thomas your new safety takeover. They will have a mantle, you know, the Manto is not something that we have in our building anywhere. So I like show me the man. Leader, John who's the defensive leader whoever Burgess, you know. And it's it's that that's the great thing about it. I mean leadership is not something that's bestowed on anybody. You can't pass a mantle onto it. So they have to earn it. And I think all those guys over the years of the guys that took that on earned it, and we're respected for the reasons they were respected and a yo certainly do that in the in the jets, and and somebody has some number of guys will do that for us. We have a lot of great leaders. I mean, Tony Jefferson jumps into my head is a guy that leads, by example, and works hard. And I think we have a lot of guys like that. What is your Thomas going to bring to the defense? He's not bringing a mantle. He's he's. But he does. This guy he roams afield e we all know what kind of player, so he brings all that to us. I was excited to get him thrilled to get him. Eric went brought so much to us. I mean, I love Eric what I love his family. Love the way played. He allowed us to play defensive certain way last year. We were able to do some things on the field that other teams are not able to do we were smart enough to understand how to build a system that allows a guy like that to thrive and we're going to build on that system. And we think Earl can thrive in that system to in his way. And I think he's smart and tough and you'll figure out how to make adjustments for. So we'll Tony other guys will have to take that mantle on and make those kinds of judgments force in real time. But hey, Earl Thomas is a different player than Eric. Well, so he'll do it his way. And we all know what that way is. And I'm looking forward to seeing it on the offensive side of the football. How did you see the development of Lamar Jackson over the course of his rookie year? And what do you expect me to sake near perfecting a big jump?.

"If your team is in and where it will go on Sunday, six eastern three Pacific on CBS. But my favorite days of the year selection Sunday. This is not some kind of newsflash, right? This isn't exactly breaking news. Rich folks, get over rich folks, by their way, in and out of things, we know this. But this story is just so awesome. It's so awesome. How Jack up it is. Did it actually worked that? This went on for years. And that these red flags somebody caught this. It's just so absurd. Dan, Wetzel said it's one thing if you've got a kid who played high school sports was good at that sport. In might have been on the fringe might have been on the borderline or might have been one of those kids who maybe could walk on these kids get in a scholarship athletes in sports that they never even played ever on any level. And that this guy could get their main by doing deals with these coaches and administrators and that the money would go to his company in the form of a charitable contribution. And the parents did this and again who are they doing it for are? They doing it for the kid because they want to give that kid every advantage. They can or they doing it for themselves and their look. Yeah. I got my kids. My kids got into USC my kids got into Yale. And how much was that worth is some parents five hundred grand a mill one point two more than six mil to one guy. To say they got their kid. Now check that to say that their kid got into that school. It's insane. Dear jim. Aunt becky's. Youtube star daughter took recruit team photo on a rowing machine. The Trojan long snapper, wait, a buck forty the soccer coach and water polo coach and associate athletic director were all taking stacks of cash after the school already have been hammered by the NC double A. Why don't they just set the press conference in higher urban Meyer already fight bleep in on Matt white fish? That's so true terribly. The great air. Do it takes the the best way to do it. USC USC fan. USC alumnus y'all look horrible today. The school looks bad really bad. Why not just roll? Herb out made the announcement right now. It's considered a misdirection never mind that it would be falling in line with everything. We're talking about right now. Go ahead. Bring the gun right now. I forget to do it. Just do it today. I'm here for it. Iran. My sources tell me Odell Beckham might not even be the biggest name that the Browns bringing this offseason signed, Adam Schefter. Dresden seatown war. The freaking Browns. There was some noise about Earl Thomas, maybe ending up there too. But he goes to the ravens speaking of which Jim. The ravens are making insane moves in the NFC north Earl Thomas, Mark Ingram. You look at moves like that. And you wonder what the hell they're going to find the cap room. Where are they gonna find the cap room and the savings one answer the dental plan signed Terrell suggs is ginger Vitus? Get that Phil. I don't get that. Phil. You're not the guy. Yeah. I remember you fill. So did you not call me on eleven twelve thirteen personal appearance day? I think you did. I just wanted to chime in on all Terrell. Suggs, no forgotten a million dollars. Jimmy, you think this can make a trip to the dentist at least one time of year. I mean, he has the gums the size of an elephant and teeth the size of a mouse. And just blows my mind. I can't get a check on the dentist one time of year. But that really hurt him too much. Blows my mind. Phil did six years later, you're selling the same crap on this show that was eleven twelve thirteen. And the only reason that made it to air. The only reason I even have tape of that is because it was eleven twelve thirteen so I allowed personal appearance as show fodder smack for a period. The only way you're your take about this guy having gums like an elephant and teeth like mice ever saw the light a day. Today's not that day. Phil today is not eleven twelve thirteen. So why are you still bring that crap around here? At the outrageous tweets Wetzel, made a good point about these kids online footprint Alvi has more game tape on YouTube from his high school basketball career there. Most of these kids, whatever that means, it's true. They do have an online footprint. He's kids all have social all you have to do is their instant page, and you'll see it believe me, if these kids play sport and played at a high level, you will know, you will know because they'll be all about it. And so will their parents, their parents will be all over Facebook with it. So safe to assume if there are no picks of that kid either on their account or their parents accounts, dominating whatever the sport is they don't play that sport. Otherwise, they'd be all about that life. All right. When we come back. I want to talk about the giants. We've already hit on the Browns. And you know, where I come out on them. What exactly the giants doing? They signed Odell Beckham junior to this huge contract less than a year ago. Paid.

"To know upcoming week, welcome now into the film room. Brought to you by Roz back to the executive director of the receipts senior bowl four times. We were bocce Scotty, Jim now, you take me through some non quarterbacks from the senior bowl start with Montas, sweat, some guys that may be able to make some noise. First round Montesquieu was a guy that he didn't have to come down to prove. He could rush the passer because he's done that at a high level in the SEC back to back years double digit sacks what he needed to prove through the season. And then again at the senior bowl was what he's going to do is run defender. He's a big long, buddy guy. He is strong is powerful is he going to anchor and he's gonna play the run like that. And he did he showed up in the game, really more. So they even practices against the run. He made some plays at the point of attack. And the also when you see this covered wait till forty this week at the combine this guy is going to run really fast. He doesn't always look like it because he's a long strider. But you see this guy cover grown. He can really chase. Okay. So let's get let's get guy. Maybe a lesser no name as we go through this whole draft process from Louisiana tech defensive in Jalen, Ferguson. Yeah. Jalen all time leading sack leader in college football. Forty five sacks matches number forty five broke Terrell suggs record. So what he's got him a little bit to last year's player from the senior bowl, Marcus Davenport came into the senior bowl kind of early second round pick and shot up the boards all the way to fourteen in new ING to New Orleans, and Jalen kind of the same way. But he he's a looser rusher. He's got a little more shape to his game. He's got really heavy powerful hands like Devonport did. But Devonport was a little more straight line is an athlete and Jalen came down in the game really really caused havoc as a pass rusher in the game into the big dogs, real quick and North Carolina State is worried from a center Garrett bradberry. What do you think you don't say? Say this a lot with an offensive long Garrett was really fun to watch this fall. I mean, you put on the tape immediately. You see it his initial quickness and his lateral quickness in the run game reach in and pull in his mobility is off the charts. He really in terms of that initial quickness in that snap to step. It's as good as I've seen in a long time. So somebody's going to draft this guy to come in and start next year year one is rookie starter at center..

"Has just consistently gotten pressure, and that's been the difference here because Hawaii's offense which normally puts up a lotta yards. And a lot of points is really struggling to get things going as we sit here with only seven points on the scoreboard for the rainbow warriors were late in the third quarter because they just don't have time to throw and when you're a passing team, and you're not really able to establish the run you've got to be able to to pass block to have success. And they can't do that tonight. Play clock stopped at six now, resets to twenty-five some confusion there. Ferguson, by the way was mobbed by his teammates on the sideline. He's currently on a headset. Talking to coaches upstairs. The punt is away from guardian of Hawaii right to left field signals for the fair catch near side of the thirty five had makes it just outside the hash marks. Kevin normally with an offense like Hawaii has you know, what only down ten points still three minutes plus a fourth quarter to go. This plenty of time. And there is plenty of time. But this is a big driver the white defense because of Louisiana tech can run out the rest of this quarter and tack onto that lead especially a touchdown to make it a three possession game. The way this Louisiana tech defense is playing I don't think Hawaii's coming back from three scores down. I think it's really important that they blow up here at the very least don't allow more than a field goal with Risi an attack. Once again starting off a good deal position. It's been a fourteen nothing. Third quarter favored Louisiana tech, which leads seventeenth seven. Smith of the shotgun. Dancy to his right. The snap to Smith. The hand off cancer running up Fouts's off his own Lima touch. It back to the right and his taken down from behind a VP with a tackle setup. Second down. Meanwhile, Jalen Ferguson shared a kiss with a fan of the front row to Louisiana tech. Jacket, perhaps a member of the Ferguson family on hand for this historic night. Two and a half sacks. He is the all time epi s sack leader surpassing Terrell suggs in a statistic kept officially since two thousand his offense working toward a second fund spread. Collapsing and gets the snap set a screen up to feel hit up high and dropped after again, maybe a yard and a half giant set. A toll at a tackle. We wind the clock tour. Two minutes of a third and a third down is upcoming birdied four. Yeah. Because of what I just said the importance of this drive for not just Louisiana tech. But for Wii this is a pivotal play. I think in this game coming up because the first down here in Louisiana tech at the very least will be able to run out the rest of the sports Ray receivers are to the right party to log into the laps left to right, go to BULLDOGS from the far side half. Late clock at six MC wants to snap gets time to throw a short pass bobbled and caught hardy fifty breaks a tackle forty left sideline. Thirty cuts it inside twenty back to the outside. Run out of bounds and side the ten yard line big play for Adrian hardy, the leading receiver on his Louisiana tech team. I in goal coming up for the BULLDOGS in a waiting moments of the third quarter. Yeah. Nice throw. And catch the ball was released quickly was thrown on target. But after that, it's just yards after the catch Hawaii vista tackle early in that run. And then it was just off to the races. And right now. Hawaii in a lot of trouble. Louisiana tech a few yards away from going up sixteen or seventeen points. Fifty four yard play sets up first and goal for the four play clock at four dance emotions out to the right? The snap the scripted to keep her up, the gut. He goes and he waltz his in for a touchdown. Jamar Smith delivered a touchdown and a fifty eight yard screen pass last possession. This time. He calls his own number runs it in from four his third rushing score the year. Louisiana tech is an extra point away from a three score leave everything working right now for this Louisiana tech offense. And look the three turnovers in the first half kind of obscured. What a nice offensive game. They've had because those turnovers have been in Hawaii territory. I mean, you go back to the beginning of this game pretty much from the from the outset they have been taken the ball. Even when they haven't scored they had driven across midfield had the ball in Hawaii territory all night long. Sure, they should have a lot more points than they do. But at this moment as we await the extra point which would put them up twenty four to seven they've.

"Day Sunday. Are you leave me hanging, man? I'm bent back. When I what I would describe what the weather looks like it's still cloudy and dreary looking outside. But the temperatures is up going to get around seventy eight don't matter. It's a what it's still a game day. It is that that's all. We wanna do. We got to wait for show show. Coming up limb clock. They are going to be or actually I should say. Yeah, we got Wendy was just here show come up at night. We'll probably our our why are you looking at me funny like. And I'm thinking, wait a minute. You look at me funny sometimes and just like makes thought just go out of my head. I don't do that. Don't do that. We got. We got STAN Randy. Yep. We got Andy Andy. And we got Wendy, and they're all out there. And we've got big Mike and his crew there are already out there. So if you out there on your way to the game you tailgating hit it to the falcons game today issuing say Hello by by who knows what they may have for you on your way into the game today. We tease nine the game. We tease this and we will get back to it. And that's the Kareem hunt situation from this past week and him. Being I put on the Commissioner's visit exempt list. And then let go by Kansas City because the video has surfaced having to do with the situation took place Betty back in February will get to hear him speak to his hotel like Mickey Mantle he had an apartment in a hotel. Wow. Live like that. Anyway, you've heard the story. And if you have it it's online, but basically he kicked and pushed a woman, and then tole kind of a fear if you will to the NFL investigators, but the story and the bigger picture is what Mr. Crenshaw brought up a second ago was since February a child could have been born and the NFL said they were negotiating from from jump, and they never got this video. But yet TMZ did. And I would imagine TMZ Harvey Levin doesn't have the deep pockets the NFL does. No. I mean, they're they're fairly deep as deep as the NFL. But like you say, there's something you gotta wanna do you? Gotta sit out. And say we wanted to get to the bottom of this. And to stave off having what's happening now. People looking at the league the way it does Sunday morning instead of talking about football today. They're going to be talking about this on the pregame shows. Well, Kareem hunt is actually going to speak at some point this morning. I don't know what network and don't know when exactly but he is going to speak. I guess before those games. I'm sure we'll have the sound here. It's sports radio ninety two nine game. I let meantime, we do what we normally do on a Sunday morning before falcons game to get you guys rating and give you the thoughts of the coaches from Orlando falcons. We start off with coach Dan Quinn who joins us weekly here. And the first question is these guys asked them Donohue was how do you prepare for two quarterbacks? Yeah. A lot of people that I think here's what I can tell you. It's a lot different. And you know, sometimes maybe let's talk first game of the year in Philadelphia today who went to fold until the system really would look the same depending on who was running in this case, it is quite a bit different in terms of how they feature Joe and how they feature Lamar. So. That part of the game planning. You know, you gotta make sure you have, you know, your stuff together in terms of how will play in the details that go with it clearly with Lamar there's an option element that goes with it. They don't do you know with Joe. So that to me is probably the biggest difference knowing who's in the game. And sometimes they claim both in and then at that time. No play, you know, one of them at QB kind of reverts back to who's in who's not talking with the head coach Dan Quinn as we get ready for the ravens of the pockets of Mercedes Benz stadium on Sunday. And we look to the other side of the ball to. And that is Baltimore. We just talking about it coach built on defense. And that linebacking core, I mean has been around Terrell suggs been around forever, but Smith and mostly I mean, those guys can bring the heat. Yeah. I've been it really seems like they're in tune with their style. Moseley really can you know, play sideline to sideline fat guy? And then so, you know for a long time, and he's really had to not as Russia and still bringing energy and juice to the to the teams don't they've got a good offense for sure and we'll keep attacking until we're just as difficult to match up with offense. So it'll be helpful battle all the way across but definitely a good package and definitely brings unique challenges in terms of pressure and how they use their guy, especially at linebacker. Could this be the best defense you faced all year? Well, right now statistically, you know, that's the case because of where they're at from scoring five different guys. You know that you each week have different challenges. And how does this guy match up to this player and whereas one team strength? I think from camp point they play, you know, everything well near explosives have been down some teams may be really strong. It's pass or not as good against the run. So he's got consistently are playing at a good level. And so it'll be important for us. Although the numbers from you know, takeaway standpoint, aren't there for them this year, they are in some ours? Over the last few weeks has not been what we want to that the big emphasis for us. I think the ball and the turnover margin will have a real impact on his game. Like, it does all talking with head coach Dan Quinn as we get ready for the Baltimore Ravens third down and short has been kind of an issue lately. Coaching? Is it a technique thing? Is it a surge thing is it a one-two thing? What's been kind of the issue there? Yeah. Definitely not a case of want to. I thought you know in in the game guys are playing hard and not all situations that were playing well. So it's up to execute that better. And you know, when it third one or fourth in one or third or fourth and to have in our ability to convert those plays extended, the drives his our offense more opportunities to go get it. So we're continuing to work on it and find you know, the smallest edge in each week. You know, the team that you're playing has a different format they go to yard too so room put the plan together. This week. That's really all our focuses right now. John just all in on this game this matchup, and you know, which way we can go and attack 'em Protais. Devante Freeman health wise. You know, making progress as far as the recovery goes as we get closer to the date where he could return to practice, you know, a better assessment then. But that's where we're at right now, you know, when we get to that window where he could begin some practice reps. I'll have a better assessment for you. But he's on course, in terms of the rehab that goes along with that surgery. And you know, like I said in the next couple of weeks, we'll give you a good assessment of you know, where he's at. And when the practice period begins for him. Leads to the what has been a weekly question about Dion Johnson his status. Yeah. And whereas encouraged we've been the whole time. So we had a good practice on Monday. And he's gonna get the full reps starting today. So man, he's chomping at the bit. And after Monday, you know, certainly look good as we get into today and tomorrow, I'll say by tomorrow afternoon weather, real about where he's at all arrows are pointing in the right direction. That's good news to hear otherwise the team south is okay. Yup. Teams helped okay Derrick Shelby still battling with a groin injury. And so that's one that we're still working through. But for the most part team wise, it's getting back and energy to Dion brings back. We'll certainly licensed sparked too. So we're hopeful that we have a chance for him this week, but we're gonna make the best decisions for him as well. Talking with head coach Dan Quinn ahead of the ravens game against the falcons coming up Sunday at one at Mercedes Benz stadium. I know that last week you had some difficult decisions on the active roster and how because you talked about matchups coach and matchups against the saints defense versus matchups against say. The ravens defense those decisions that you have to make on that active roster. The the the final decisions about who's going to be going in the game. I would imagine last week. Did they were somewhat difficult in this week? They presented a sort of unique challenge in their own. Right. Correct. That's right. And so as you're going through you're just looking for which match ups, you know, you can help create some of it's going to be you know, related to special teams. Who can add to that? And then hopefully, if we get back in the mix, you know that changes from roles for some guys too. And then oftentimes, it it depends on the team that you're facing, you know, that they, you know, really featuring a passing caq, and you have that every Russia, you know, you can think of to go or if it's a team on the other side, you know, were offensively you need, you know, a certain package to go attack with but we try to get those decisions out as part of the game plan going in for Monday and Tuesday night. And then as we start going in through this week, we try to feature those guys in practice those decisions for the most part are made summer due to injury. But for fortunately for us this week, you know, with the exception of Dion more, just you know, best chance to win the game talking with head coach Quin about the ravens and the falcons, and I'm gonna guess at this week. There's maybe a little bit of focus on. I don't know hanging onto the football that had to be were you at any point of the game just going. Oh my God. Really? Well, yeah. Would you have a turnover margin? Like we did and being costly in the red zone. So it was big topic for us, you know, as we got back and went through Monday. And it wasn't just from this game. Are you know, the turnover Mark, you know, why I love talking about it too much because it's the whole defense the offense. It's special teams all connected together to get in the plus we've got to have the ability to create sound. So in that game only getting one and giving up four obviously that was a big difference in it, and you know, a few those in the red zone. So no doubt about it. We know how to take care of it. And you know, over, you know, we're trending in the right way. And so we gotta get back to that. That's going to be a real key to this game. I just know I will tell you this much the kind of the good news in that in that stat within that stat is we we see found here in town, or at least you found. Dan, Quinn, drafted the kid out of San Diego State and. And we said when he was coming out of college that he was a ball hawk. Boy turns out he is a serious balk. Yeah. He's really got a good instincts. You know to make plays and the style that he plays. You know, those are things that we knew was always a part of the game. In fact, we saw on special teams forced a fumble last year at the gun or he hadn't really played gunnery put him in a playoff game. And the fumble out Los Angeles last year. So he always has his mind set for the ball. And that's an important thing to have because as a player when you have that mindfulness for it. You'll take more shots at the ball. You'll be more aggressive to try and create turnover. So he definitely has it, you know, much like Dion does where they're thinking about it quite a bit. Just a one kind of final point. If I can't coach. I mean, we all know what this season is in the frustrations of the year. But the fact remains and Hugh, and I were talking about this on the show. It's not over yet. I there's some people seem to think. Okay. All right now, your four and seven, but you know, what it is not over. I mean, you're still hanging around here. All you gotta do you get hot like you did a few weeks back. Right. Well for us. It is just man. Like, we know what the big picture is. And yeah, we're frustrated into and all those things at times when you have the, you know, three losses in a row. But I also say this man is just aiming you know, as strongly as we can just into this game. And that's what we have to take care of first. And that's the mindset that the team, and we will fight like crazy for one another for the fans for the city. And so we can't wait to get a rocket again here Sunday afternoon. Yeah. It's gonna be a big game. And they come in hot team is going to be a good old. Classic matchup of styles here between the ravens and the falcons that'd be really a fascinating game. Thanks coach to appreciate I appreciate you guys. And yeah, it'll be a great fight. And we're looking forward to defend you guys and everybody else here Sunday afternoon. There you go coach Dan Quinn joining Hugh and John this past week here on sports radio ninety to ninety game. Yeah. Industry game winning streak losing streak. Get a win. And we'll talk about. Maybe if they get some help get into the playoffs. The thing is some help. But right now, they can only handle who they got in front of. We'll talk more about coach Quinn's comments. And some of the things that we touched down with dealin up next radio ninety nine a game..

"If you want to compare them again to Randall Cunningham random cutting on his first start was in his second year as a pro at the eagles. He threw the ball only twenty one times. But he ran the ball fourteen times for one hundred ten yards and then eased down from there. He still ran. But never fifteen times a game. Yeah. I if he's going to run I just he needs to protect himself because when we met him he slight, you know, he's RG three slight. And we saw what happened or G three when he would take on defensive players. You know, he didn't do. Well. Yes, mclovin. He said he was only hit once or twice and he carried the ball twenty. So that's why I was surprised, you know. But maybe that's really tagged. Now, I'm gonna guess you you get popped on just about every play. But there are times when you get really tagged Yarmuk look out of the ravens still have the best defense in the NFL their number one again. I mean, those guys Terrell suggs has been there since what the Ray Lewis. Yeah. Unbelievable. They just always reform in a good. It's weird. William in Virginia joins us this morning. I weigh in Woody have. Hey, guys. How's it going? Good, sir. Love the show the Patrick Mahomes thing. Maybe the reason why everybody's not buying into him. So much is I I kind of feel like maybe he might be kind of like that Prescott first year. Now, I'm not comparing to Dak Prescott. But you know, the first year that came out just crushing it. Nobody know what to do. He was making plays running around throwing the ball. But then the second year everybody started get sale Monning vice started seeing than it just kind of fizzled out wondering, if maybe Mahomes may be the same way because you know, nobody's really seating other than this year. So I see it differently Mahomes was a guy and thank you for the phone call William that the chiefs went up to get him in the first round Dak Prescott fell into the Cowboys lap. Because Jerry Jones wasn't taking Dak Prescott. He liked Connor cook out of Michigan state. So they nearly took Johnny Manziel. So they they didn't plan on Prescott. Andy Reid knew what he had in Patrick Mahomes, and Patrick Mahomes is. Is a very unique talent. Whereas in this was the game plan on Prescott it stack the box in making beach you now he had Whitten and he had Dez Bryant who he had a couple of veterans that he could go to. But now when you have to win games. And now there's more pressure on back Prescott. And I don't think that he's that. That's the kind of quarterback. He is Patrick Mahomes is that kind of quarterback but understand this Mahomes has all pros at running back and wide receiver and tight end. Deck Prescott doesn't have that Prescott has a great offensive line. And he's got his equal Elliott, but he's got pedestrians as wide receivers. Whereas tyrod kills the fastest player in the NFL. Maybe the most dynamic I got Kelsey us. The best tight end. You throw in Kareem hunt. I mean, that's such a great nucleus for a young quarterback to have. Yes. But club I'd argue though that that wide receiving core is a lot better with Mahomes than they were with Alex Smith. He's Alex Smith loved Kelsey, loved, hunt and liked hill. But I mean, they they sell the same core of the wires rebbe didn't have touch. They were good with Alex Smith. Good. They're great with Mahomes because now you use that big arm. Yeah. It's both. It's kind of helping each other fact. Yeah. Alex Smith didn't have that. He didn't have that arm. That's why they want all in on Mahomes because Alex Smith was coming off a good year. And the fact that he went we're going all in because we want Patrick Mahomes told you everything about Mahomes that he had the arm, and that's what Andy Reid wanted. And he got his quarterback. Reggie miller. Will join us coming up next more of your phone calls as well sixteen after the hour..

"He was heard a couple of years ago, I think is monumental. So I thought it was encouraging. This game is tough. It's tough to play quarterback in fail. So I still like what I see is far as him being at the podium still being who's iast still having that that rare smell that we see from quarterbacks after the game. Listen, I the sack on by Terrell suggs on that play. I'm not gonna hold that one against him because he's also said we didn't play the clip that deep shot slow developing plates, third and seven. You are going to need time for that play to work. He tried to roll out a little bit, and this is why I mean Terrell suggs is they said in the broadcast, he is a hundred twenty five crew sex for a reason. The. Colt also were without their starting left tackle. I think it was Jack Doyle tried to chip Terrell suggs but did not do a great job of it. He comes around the play in everyone's focused on that and the interception I agree with you also that what he said, it is encouraging. You can fall on his throwing shoulder that way and feel fine about it. But what was my biggest concern with Andrew luck coming back? How much has he learned from being the most pressured quarterback overs I three years being the most eight quarterback in the pocket over the first three years about getting the ball out quickly and his final play, and I think we were able to put a clock on it. The last play he took, I mean, league averages two point, seven seconds to get the ball out. I mean, he's at four by the time he's touched now that's not a play. People are focused on because he's not thrown to the ground. He's not injured on it. It just he's in the grasp, but they pointed out good from the other angle on the broadcast. He had his running back coming up, open the flat. You can kind of see it there. He had another option. That's the type of thing that angel has to avoid. That's the play that was more concerning to me than the troll suggs play, which is going to happen. He had ample opportunity, get rid of the football there and did not do it. Is that rust c. is that just getting the feel of the game back to you? Or is that just a fundamental flaw guys play that way that have played without an injury? So we can make an excuse and say, it's Russ, it's part of playing the game in that situation. There Nick talks about to its third down a little bit longer. He's trying to because everyone everyone in football's like, get to ball your hand, get the ball out of your hand, get the ball to your hand, but also there's a certain play call that there might not be someone open, right? Does offense of linemen that have to do their job, this blitz. They had a blitz right here. It was his own dog where they brought three guys and they drop one guy off of his left. So he was trying to make sure that he knew where he was going. And if he does throw to the running back, he's gotta throw right over a six, five guys. Hit. So we just can't be too consumed with get the ball out of your hand, protect yourself. If nobody open because other people have things to do. So we have to be careful in get the ball out of your hand and trying to run the offense. It's third down. You have to hold the ball sometimes a little bit for guys to build a get down the field. I think when he runs with the football out of the pocket is more of a true measure of, has he learned his lesson from what's happened to him in the past anything besides staying healthy, taking the sack by subs? Did you see anything encouraging in a way he's throwing the ball in his blossoming anything in any of the part of his game, I can speak to the throwing motion better than I can. But you talked about going into the first preseason game that that's something you were going to watch the and then after the first preseason game, you thought it was the same motion that scene from luck, Fred, Stanford is first year up until the injury it to my. I, it looked similar as well more plays downfield. Did you wanna seem listen. You wanna see more plays down the field..

"What Harissa thing came? What team started to do this? We'll let the running back have ten yards fifteen yards slugged just one shot at your quarterback von Miller. Just one of these shot into quarterback. Is that what you want? Dak Prescott is just about as big as Terrell suggs. He those, but let me tell you what they're not used to doing taking that kind of punishment. Like a running back. You don't want that guy and that's what broke. That's what got rid of the song read. Okay. Yes, that's fine. All it looks good, but when they start it because you gotta realize that quarterbacks runner, he never takes a step back. So he's always a runner so I can hit him even after he gives the ball, do you realize he's writing and deciding with best running back in football? So Mr. suggs and elders going to have to make a big. Decision. Yeah, I'll let Zeke go. I'll just let him go. 'cause I wanna shot at the cloud that feed j. Moseley outlet. Luke Keithly. Okay, I'll let them worry about that. But in the meantime, I want my defense vans. I want you to put that helmet up on the up on the Dak Prescott chain. That's what I want to do. Because remember, scale gonna run it to put his helmet up under Terrell. Okay. Okay. Well, I'll see how it works. He's two hundred and fifty pounds, and he is solid scam. I'm understand that knock on wood, but. Water backs are not Bill to take that kind of punishment down in in down out. I gotta tell you, this man is big and strong and has underrated acceleration because it's effortless acceleration. I'm not saying he's a blazer. He's not RG three. He's not Lamar Jackson. He's not those guys, but they're not him either because RG three as much as I loved him was a little willow. He little for. Oh, for little fragile. Two hundred five pounds baby maybe and he he just couldn't figure out how to slide. He's so athletic that he couldn't figure out how to put feet first and slide because the game is rigged quarterback. If you get down, it's over the plays over slide. Everybody has to stop. Okay. So Dak Prescott. How many times did we seem roll out last year? Not nearly enough because when he did roll out as we saw in the Zona game, I don't know if we have that play, but remember the throat of Bryce Butler. Yeah. You like you like you like it, you go through your progression. Okay. One. The two. That's respraying. There's nothing there. Okay. Throw about, but you know what? He is very accurate on the run. So do now this is our peo-. This is run pass option where you roll them out. And if it's not there, just let him run from five or six or seven yards that works. That works to me. If you notice all the quarterback that that was a heavy, they, they got the design read Cam, trying to graduate him from that Russell Wilson. They graduated him from that. I don't know if the guy's already in a graduate class and they didn't do a whole lot of that. Why you want to remediate him and put him back in that situation. Skip Dak Prescott is at a situation now you, they put a lot on his plate, not not. Well, let's say a lot. They put enough on his plate. His rookie year. He showed he can handle it. The added a little more, but they Zeke away from him. So now he has Zeke back. I think you start to put more. On his plate as as bars passing the football. I'm not saying you don't say that. Look, we're gonna make you a purely pocket passer. That's not what he is. That's not what he's never going to be, but but to put him in harm's way by taking endless unnecessary punishment by zone reading him, I'm telling you skip defense, vans. They love that. Well, do they love quarterback draws? I don't know. I'll take a quarterback drier air thing ever. It all depends. You might see a quarterback draw skip. If say, you're at the five yard line goals. Yeah, yeah. Oh, yeah. Yeah, you go see something like that. Yeah, I got no problem with..
