"There is an opening at that outside linebacker on the outside linebacker. Outside cornerback position. Can he take that job. And say cam sutton you were signed. But they knew they they're going to use you on the inside. Can he do it. I have to think that some of these players were drafted. Last season are just chomping at the bit to get an opportunity to show extended repetitions. Carla's davis anthony mcfarland. These guys didn't have a preseason last year and so that is going to be big. These games are going to be big. And we're gonna talk about the second half of the show this preseason willoughby a good test. We'll talk about that but let's get into these individuals so i said earlier. I don't think we've learned anything really about the team. But i do think we have learned even in this small sample size a lot about certain individuals and i broke this down four on defense. Four on offense. And i'm gonna just go one by one talk about the player why i feel like we've learned something about it and we're going to hash this out together so to start on defense. Wanna start on defense one of the individuals that i feel like we've learned about is antoine brooks junior someone. I brought up six round. Pick out of maryland. Twenty twenty nfl. Draft and. I have to be honest here. I didn't have really high expectations for anton brooks ginger coming in at twenty twenty one. This is a player that did not make the team out of training camp. Last year he was cut didn't get picked up. They sign him to the practice squad. He ends up getting elevated any sticks with fifty three man roster for the rest of the season but now all of a sudden they have him being the heir apparent their words. The media's words not mine the heir-apparent to mike hilton. He had a tremendous interception earlier in camp of ben rothlisberger. Keep that in mind. It wasn't mason. Rudolph or dwayne haskins joshua dobbs. It was ben in now all of a sudden he did get banged up a little bit on sundays workout. They said it's not serious. He's considered day to day. He should be fine but still antoine brooks junior. My goodness we've learned something about this guy but not just what we've learned about him we've learned about how the steelers are planning on utilizing him. Maybe i never thought as a safety when they drafted him. I was told that he was a box safety. Love to play the line of scrimmage. You did well. I didn't think that he was athletic. Enough to play the slide. We'll see we shall see arthur millette going to get a shot especially if brooks is out for a little bit. So we'll see. But anton brooks we have learned a lot about him as an individual cam sudden. Maybe cam sudden but how the steelers are going to utilize. We know cam. Sudden kim son's a veteran at this point to sign a new contract is second contract in the nfl. With the pittsburgh steelers in terra lawson spoke with media on sunday and he said that the plan right now is for the steelers to keep cam sudden on the outside. That's the plan. He's that kind of change. If there's someone like james pierre or just lane step up then they'll move cam back into the inside. He can play the nickel he can play. Time will see but as of right now that the steelers plan and we've all wondered this throughout the offseason. How are they gonna utilize cam sutton right now. He's opposite joe hayden as the as the number two cornerback or the other cornerback. Maybe don't maybe number one to here's another player on the defensive side of the ball. Roberts splaine now if i were to have written an article. When i didn't do this i thought about it. I thought it was in poor taste. And that's why didn't do it. If i would have written an article that said these and then number say four players. That benefited from the retirement of vince. Williams could have written that article. It would have probably done great and we'd probably a a lot of pages. But i said you know what now vince williams has been good with our site..

"Steelers fans. What's going on. This is jeff. Harbin senior editor behind the steel curtain dot com with you for another episode of the steelers training camp recap. They have four days in the steelers are about to have a day off but it is a situation where it's time that we go over. What happened on sunday. In regards to the pittsburgh steelers when they are they were at the. Up rooney's sports complex on the south side of pittsburgh. When they returned to practice on tuesday they will be at heinz field. There will be any fans in attendance until wednesday but the pads will be coming on when they report to heinz field and dad should be exciting for everyone that's going to be an attendance So far so good and from the injury front there have been some injuries of noble. Talk about that right off the bat. The steelers are really struggling center. Basically the fact that jaycee has now or did not practice on sunday. He was seen wearing a knee. Brace walking around they said or. I'm sorry that mike tomlin said that he is listed his day to day. Also zach banner. Who's coming off of an acl tear in week. One of last season he has not been dressing. The last few days tomlin hinted that could change once the pads come on Kendrick green who missed last practice on saturday with a personal reason was back so was. Bj fitting antoine brooks junior left practice early but was described as having nothing major so the worst of injuries to deal with in. That's part of camp is part of game as long as you don't have those season ending. Acl's or achilles ruptures. Then you're good for the most part now the the one rookie in it's kind of surprising. When you think about the rookie class you would think you would be hearing a lot about nause harris. I'm sure we will hear more about him. Once they put pads on. I typically when running back shine. Not when they're in shorts and but really we haven't heard from harris today. You hear a lot about pad fryer mus- second round. Pick out of penn state. Marco volley of the athletic says quote steelers. Rookie tight end. Pat firm. youth has been really good all summer including the past four days of camp. He's passed that test but it'd be going big one awaits next week when the pads come on and what mr kabbalah is talking about is his blocking ability fryer muse can run routes. He can catch the football. That's not a problem. He's very athletic. But blocking kenny due to the nfl level we will see also another reporter said that one of the standout place. Today pat farm youth ran a fade into the back of the endzone made impressive toe tapping grab when asked about his impressions of fryer. Me's mike tomlin says he's been impressed in farm. Youth has been readily prepared each day. So good news so far from the second round. Pick out of penn state terra lawson was. The he's the defensive backs coach in a senior assistant for the defensive staff. Vivas of coaching staff. He was asked about ben rothlisberger deep passing and he said quote. Oh he's still got an arm so that's good news when it comes to ben rothlisberger czar. Speaking of the secondary austin said that he wants to keep cam sudden at the outside cornerback position for now and see how the slot position pans out with brooks and arthur molet. He didn't rule out a significant jump. By someone like james pierre. Justin lane changing those plans and putting sudden inside so he's not ruling that out but as of right now it sounds like cam sutton is at least gonna start on the outside of that defensive secondary trae turner was also in front of the microphone today the first time the media got a chance to talk to the newly acquired guard and he spoke glowingly about how he likes the aggressive nature of the offensive line heading into twenty twenty one Talked about adrian klemm at canada. Good news so far on that front. But he also talked about david decastro. When asked about replacing to castro. He said quote. I just look at it like it's a new era a different time different places. Everything has an expiration date at some point quote. Decastro is a great player. And i wouldn't necessarily say. I'm replacing him. I'm just the new right guard and quote so a lot of respect from turner decastro as he takes over that right guard position. Speaking of respect he gave a ton of respect to one former steeler. That's about to get inducted into the hall of fame allen janika who he called quote a living legend and turner hopes his fellow. Lsu tiger will come and see him play he said quote. I have nothing but a ton of respect for mr flannigan admire his game. Been knowing about him. Since i got. Lsu in two thousand eleven. Hopefully i can make him proud and quote so pretty cool to see the lsu tiger connection between new guard trae turner and informer guard allen. Fanta Other news really was that There's been some new wrinkles. Put into the offense of guess. You could say the playbook. They're utilizing so far in camp. Derek watt at full-back a lot more brook prior. Espn was cited. That her favorite player. Today was ben rothlisberger hit. Derrick watt a fullback wheel route. They don't often use the full back in the passing game but nat canada will feature fullbacks more often. That was something that broke. Prior asked mike tomlin. He said to be determined. So like i said that kind of wraps up the first ramp up part of training camp there were no pads no hitting no contact they did team drills but there was nothing that was physical and hitting. That's going to happen in the upcoming week. They have monday off so there will not be any training camp recap on monday. I will be back for this on tuesday. But i have to tell you. Be sure to check out my. Let's ride podcasts. Every monday wednesday. Friday as well as all of our morning. Podcast that includes a live. Just ask him to just do the online thing again. I'd rather be at home, not learning and be comfortable than being the classroom uncomfortable and not learning. That's basically what we're getting. "Next news radio 600 Coco. This is the Gemayel report. The fight continues. All right, so it again We're gonna not just use the show to inform you as to what's going on each day. But we want to give you, uh, vehicles opportunities. We want to let you know about projects. Campaign's efforts that you can all get behind to make it impact here in San Diego in Southern California. In California as a state and yes, from time to time. We are going toe bring up ways for us to engage on a federal basis. In national politics. What I want to do every day, though, is is turned this into very much so like him for working meeting Remember, this show has a super Pac that we use every once in a while, too. Take political action and to do mailers and door hangers and defeat tax increases and endorse candidates do voter guides, etcetera. We've got volunteers out there who are part of that? And so we've got a vehicle that we can use. We can link up with other groups that are doing great work. It will bring their work to your attention if you want to support them and want to be involved. Um and I want to hear when you do engage on something. It doesn't have to be something that we brought to you. You can call in 806 100 Kogo 806 105 646 at Carl Tamayo. And say, Hey, this is what I'm doing. So, for example, I know a lot of you are doing the recall petition. Against Governor Gavin Newsom. Carry on. Keep doing it on. We'll give you updates and you can call in with the what you're seeing on that project, But there's other projects that were involved in it as well. So here's the thing we just heard from Joel Anderson. So what he said was he got a resolution passed at the county Board of Supervisors on enforcement. And what he said was. What we're gonna do is we're gonna force the county toe publish the science on a website. For all the draconian lockdowns that they have. And we're gonna warn businesses and I'm telling them that they've got to apply the rule. Big businesses as well. A small businesses I know Joel Anderson. I endorsed him in the last election. I I agree with the sentiment that he's trying to raise. We've got to do better on this enforcement stuff and be fair and be in the mandates have to be logical and justified. Here's my only problem. When I see so many Democrats like Nathan Fletcher and Nora Vargas And Terra Lawson Remer, the three other Democrat, county supervisors voting for a resolution. I know there's a catch. Right, My my, my, my, my, My little Spidey senses automatically go up. So in this case The science that was published on the website. I just tweeted it out. You can get it at Carl DeMaio on Twitter at Carl DeMaio on Twitter. The link is there you can review it for yourself. And I said just moments ago, San Diego County says this is all the science they have to support their draconian covert light 19 lockdown bands. Pretty weak sauce. Lack of science is why judges are tossing their mandates out. Hashtags. Show me the science. So what you conducive is you can share that. So your friends can look at this. And when you see it, you're going to sit there and say this is all they have. They have a few articles in Public journals. For all the articles that they come up with, which are not many on this site right now, Um I can show you data. Showing that the lockdown states are faring worse than states that they didn't do aggressive lockdowns. If you really want a good scientific test, that's a good scientific test. Control experiment If you will. I can show you Mirror lawyer Lori Lightfoot coming out, saying that the lockdowns on restaurants and bars backfired actually caused Marco Vid, Then it's saved. And so your first homework assignment is Take Joel Anderson up on his offer. Check out the science review it And then let his office know whether you think that it's it's appropriate and whether it's sufficient and if your business I want you to contact Um Your trade association. Your business groups have them get in touch with lawyers that represented Cheetahs. The strip clubs that won the case back in December for re opening restaurants in San Diego County and reopening bars and outdoor dining and indoor dining. On the basis that they don't have the science to back up the lockdowns. That's your assignment. If you're a business owner Because I do appreciate what Joel Anderson's doing. He is saying, Let's force their hand to know what we are actually fighting against. And you think about it. I love the idea of thinking about it a zoo card game. What's really interesting is trying to do is allow us to look at the hand. But the county hands By forcing them put the science on the website. Now what we have to do is challenge him. Go into court and say, Well, Judge We asked for science a month ago, they didn't have it. And you rightfully, Of course, um, decided to throw out the mandate on outdoor dining and indoor dining. And now all these other businesses air having to comply with these lockdown orders. And you know, Joe Anderson finally got them to put the science science on the website and look at the science. It's so flimsy. It's a flimsy It's wakey. And so that's why we're here. And if the county says, Oh, no, no, no, no, We have more science. Well, hold on a second. You said you had your science disclose through this resolution. And you can turn the media and say, Well, either they had the science or not. Get what he's trying to do. It's still going to be a challenge, but it's the starting point. Coming up your next assignment. And if you have any questions about anything that any projects that you're you're thinking will help us in the fight to make California safer. More affordable. Make government accountable. Get the jobs created that we've lost Make our schools better. This five o'clock hour is going to be our meeting. It's where we're going to get together..

"And so then the question becomes like how all those people break. If there is a huge democratic wave seems like Todd glories in a really good position to ski to serve that In and if if if there's a lot of discontent if Ta Gloria's scene is sort of an incumbent type figure and the undecideds break instead for this opposition It's different. Thing that she's put together then it could be a really interesting night. So I think the numbers were just I could stare at them in the different cross tabs. The hours have the undecideds. Who are they? What do they think? You know, If they're there's a large number of them and they're going to essentially determine who wins this race. Who are they? 38% of the undecideds are Democrats. So Todd Gloria is winning with Democrats and the largest share of undecided voters are Democrats. That sounds good, right? 34% of them are independence, and a quarter of them are Republicans. Here's the problem, though, for Assemblyman Gloria, I think, um, the overall electorate with which he has just a four point lead is 47% Democrats, 30% Independence and 22%. Republicans. So it is true that he does well with the largest group of people that make up the undecided voters. But it also is a share of Democratic voters that is far lower than the electorate as a whole, where he doesn't have that large of a lead that he can coast too, You know, and it's a It's a first past the post system so whoever gets one vote over 50% wins. So he's got to find a way to essentially get 14% of the votes before Barbara Bree can get 18% of the votes in the thing that undecided share. And you know, the composition of the undecided suggests that he has He's going. He's going to do less well with them, as he did in the electorate as a whole. Right. Well, that obviously was just one thing we tested so cool to have numbers like that so cool and great story by Andy pulling together different takes on how the race is going to play out again, Barbara Breeze put a ton of money. $550,000 of her own wealth in do the final few days, probably more to come as she makes that final pitch that final effort lot. Nobody's leaving anything on the table. The other race that we've been watching and talking about for months now is this district three county supervisor race, the county supervisors, the future the county supervisors in the balance on this race. There could be led by the most conservative board it's had in recent decades, or it could be led by the most liberal board it's ever had, and that is all resting on the district three county supervisor raise There's an incumbent, Kristen Gaspar, and there's a challenger, Terra Lawson rember a Democrat who, if she wins, of course, takes it in that liberal direction. We have numbers on that that are a lot more lob sighted than this mayor's race. Terra Lawson Remer is at 42% of likely voters, saying she would get their vote. And then 31% say that they're in for the incumbent. Kristen Gaspar. Sara Jesse Marks did a great piece on the realities of this race. And it seems like overwhelmingly the Democrats effort, very undefined Cult by the way to connect gas bar to President Trump has been very significant and influential in this Yeah, We've certainly seen races before. Like the City Council race in which Laurie Za was ousted, and she had no real connection to Donald Trump, other than being a member of his party. Whereas that's not the case with Kristen Jasper. She went to the White House. She's gone on Fox News to defend some of his More provocative comments, So it's It's not a hard tie, but it sure seems to be a real mistake. Teo cut that ad for Trump steaks. God, Yeah, and she's been kind of acknowledging that and she she seems like she's trying to have it both ways in terms of defending Um Those decisions and saying, Well, I did it because I'll work with anyone, including Nathan Fletcher, trying Tio paint herself as by part of then. And then in the same breath, you know, attacking. Liberals and Democrats. So it's Seems like she might be flailing a little bit of and the poll numbers kind of bear that although this is another race where there are a lot of undecideds remaining, you know, I was just today going through our old voices of the voters posts. Um Where we survey people who are voting on election Day back when that was the way most people voted, Um, and four years ago, when Gaspar was first running for this seat of so many voters told us, you know, there was a really hot congressional race. With Carol. I said being challenged and they said, I really didn't. I don't know what a county supervisor does. So ah, just going to leave this race alone. Couldn't tell you who these people are, what this job is. So that was kind of some interesting perspective. As we politicos have been watching this race really closely and I don't know if you know this people in the last four years have learned what a county supervisor does. Knife, and But even then she was able to oust and incumbent though an incumbent who was just be deviled by a bunch of scandals at that time, Dave Roberts of the alone Democratic that time on the board. In 2016. I'll remember famously that night. Andrew Bowen from KPBS asked Kristen Gaspar if she supported Donald Trump the president in the race, and she said she indeed bid and that was it. I believe that was in the primary. Yeah, Yeah, That's right. I sorry. Timing is I have no sense of time anymore. It's been completely obliterated by age and Is pandemic. But yes, that's exactly what happened. And I think there was another similar dynamic to the marriage race in this race is well. When we asked how the county is going, we asked people if it was going the right direction or wrong direction. The people who said it was heading in the wrong direction tended to support Kristen Gaspar, who's part of the governing Bored of the county and then the group who feel like the County is going in the right direction, supported Terra Lawson Remer, who's trying to oust one of the members, who's leading it. Again, It could be confounding logically. Or if you have a perception that the county is headed in a sort of progressive direction. Uh then you might want to support the liberal Progressive who's running. Four. And if you if you do you know, and Christian Gaspar as an incumbent, has presented herself as somewhat of an outsider looking in a critic of the direction in some ways. And so it kind of makes sense. She might she might gain those voters. I would add. I think this maps onto this well in both the mayor's race and the county supervisor's race, you saw the same dynamic with people who approved or disapproved of the County or city's response to the cove in 19 pandemic, those who disproved disapproved of the counties. Approach to the pandemic are going for Gaspar. Those who disapproved of the city's approach are going for Bree, Those who approved of the county's approach or going with Terra Lawson Remer..
