And then that's one literally Had to shift my focus. And i started meditating more. I started back working out because it's like now a bit myself. Like what am i gonna do now. Then i went out to massillon. I have a salon here that i was using as literally might glam room for you know to get dressed for things like this. But they're not started playing around out there. Learn how to cut hair and learn how to make wakes and have been doing. Mario and then you know what what i realized through therapy is that i'm a creative. I'm a creative person to ball. "And i needed help. And so when i'm talking in berry all those moments that i thought oh i just water under the bridge just let it roll off your back. You know push through be strong though thousand traumatic moments that now. I'm having to sit with my therapist in unpack them and so i'm trying to help people. I don't want people to suffer. Just you learn that you do so. I've learned and i wanted to share my experience. So that others. Maybe they can cut through some of the muck that i had to go through giddy. But it's scary going through healing and unpacking trauma. It's very scary. And what. I find what i've been found learning so much. I'm not a doctor though. But i'm just learning so much at People usually when they are when they're afraid to change because that's where it comes fears. Fear they face those demons trauma. They usually surround themselves with trauma buddies. And i learned this from this therapist. Clinician j barnett. Who was all he's gonna be on one of the later episodes But trauma buddies and saw you surround yourself with people that remind you of that trauma and you stay there and you stay comfortable because on the other side is too scary but i just wish people just have freeing it is when you unpack all that luggage you feel so light it it is. It's totally liberating to say it out. Loud sometimes do you feel that there is though generational progress. We were talking a little bit earlier. That my dad also served in vietnam and i know he wouldn't an has not sat and said here's how i feel about. Here's how i feel about my childhood. It's just not something you really did. Do you think we're getting better at it and shows like you're certainly help but do you think we're moving in the right direction on it. Absolutely i think particularly the younger generation. They're talking about it more. You know and i think it's also too because like the parents we're starting to we have daycare ourselves. You know so. I do see a ship. I d c. Shed i for me the my area that i'm really focused on a really focused on right now as the african american male. Because there's still resistance there on. But i do i. I realized i'm seeing a shift in that though. I'm seeing shipping. Because you had charlemagne who has been very vocal about mental house for some time now And i'm starting to see a lot of african american male clinicians And become more public figures. I'm starting to see that. And i we we ha we did a virtual fundraising campaign or during the pandemic ninety three percent. Who signed up for the free services. We gave five services to.

"Absolutely i remember when i first launched the foundation and i went before congress to push legislature for mental health resources in the community in schools. And i remember. I was so afraid. Because i was like the headline the headlines. What are they going to say. And i just remember saying it's like publicly. I suffer from anxiety and depression. And then i remember a big sigh of relief and then looking around like whoa knows like it's it's such a burden to carry secrets. Whole secrets into suffer in silence is such a burden when you allow yourself to be vulnerable. That is the strength. there is strength and that's where the healing begins and the relationship with your friend. Tracy runs your foundation which you mentioned your longtime friend since seventh grade. That is a great dynamic to the show great. It's a great your mmediately comfortable. You know you to have known each other forever and you have sort of reverse roles where she was more open about her mental health. Way back when and you didn't quite get it back then. Is that fair to say. Yes you know. Because of the stigma around. We made fun of her. And i did as our best friend. And she didn't take offense he just took it. Because that's what we did. You know what she's still took our madison but You know and it's unfortunate because it's just it's ignorance you know it's just not knowing uneducated just don't know or uncomfortable and so Cut to high best friend. I suffer from anxiety and depression. Now she's like come here and all those years making fun of her but And that's why i feel like that's why we both felt compelled to do something on a broader scale scale. Because it's just information that we need to know in the more you know if you know better you do better you know for the teenagers like you know a lot of things. Are you know but a lot of parents like to say all. That's just it just being a teenager. They're just you know teenagers. they're in that funk and match usually around the time we're mental health issues are show themselves present themselves. And i just know that so many parents watching this.

"Welcome back we're talking about. Libya jade's apology on tabletop for her role in college admissions scandal. Would you think of joy when you saw it. Well you know what we know. That white privilege is everywhere. I mean kellyanne conway who was just deplorable for the past four years. Now getting a multimillion dollar book deal. The situation from the jersey shore after his stint in jail went right back to the jersey shore. Show off stewart. Got her gig back. She's now setting tables everywhere. So i mean not that i resent it. It's just that's the way it goes. And what i feel like is i understand my own white privilege i always have. I've been. I just think about things like that. All the time you know. And i was a schoolteacher. Let's remember that for a minute. Because i don't think kids in this country are learning our history They're not learning about slavery. Then not learning about jim crow. They don't understand the history of black americans in this country they did. They would then understand white privilege better so my suggestion is start teaching this stuff. It's deplorable again that word that they do not learn history period. I mean people who are young under fifty. Don't know who fdr was you know. They think that paul mccartney was part of a group called wings before they don't know you know what i mean. They don't know stuff and they need to learn. That's my diatribe for the day. We've got you ana were i'd rather spend my time talking about that. Tiny little wonderful hat on top of your head then talking about olive jade or whomever. These people are look. I think i really have no interest in talking about this entitled brat and her enabling parents looking to be okay you know. There's a lot of people making lines and food banks right now. There's a lot of people who've lost their jobs. A lot of people who've lost loved ones to kovin so really. I don't have the emotional bandwith right now to give a hoot olive jade wanting to have her platform back and be accepted by social media. Or whatever i'm with. Jada pinkett mom and i want to talk about your hat. Okay what do you wanna know about my hat. i lied. where'd you get right. Well fell in the toilet. Put it on the hatch. she's talking about. Oh my lord. Do you see everyone. Here is wearing these see. They're all wearing hats. Cat is wearing the hat. Everybody is in the holiday spirit. Like all of you know. It's all about having a little bit of fun everywhere you can find it. I just a little left. And i need a little left and he said i got my own tree. I got my little old. Tv thing on. I mean it's just thing and look at my tree you now and it makes sings cares as we go to break. I'll.

"Hope for the holidays after almost losing their young son. Welcome back now. Olivia jade sat down for red table. Talk about her role in the college. Admission scandal that put her parents behind bars but jada pinkett. Smith's mom wasn't really all that happy about it. Take a look. I feel like you white woman coming to black women for support when we don't get the same from them is just. It's bothersome to me on. So many levels are being. Here is the epitome of white privilege privileged to me. I never got to say. I'm really sorry that this happened. Or i really own that. This was a big mess up on everybody's part on see when it first happened. I didn't look at it and say oh my god like how dare we do this. Bears within itself that. I walked around my whole twenty years of life. Not realizing like you have insane privilege. You like the poster child of white privilege. So is she owning up to this sunny. Look i think that she didn't go far enough. But i do put most of this blame on her parents. They should have taught her better. I as the mother of student athletes. This story has always been very difficult for me to understand because while my children have certainly grown up with a certain amount of wealth. As i did not. We made sure to teach them. That cheating is never appropriate that they have to earn everything that they get. And when you look at the college admissions letter that olympia jadot. It is very clear that she was admitted as a student athlete as a student athlete as a rower and she also submitted fake photographs of herself. A rowing machine so the suggestion somehow that she didn't know any better is very difficult for me to comprehend. Because as you all know there were gabriel. A three sport athlete football swimming and track. I have had as a mother to wake up at five o'clock in the morning and drop him off for swimming practice and after that take him to school come to the view. I mean i've seen him. I've seen paloma in ice baths nursing injuries and for for many black children. Being an athlete is one of the only entrances to college and for a livia jade not to try to take one of those legitimate spots for of another athlete. I just think is deplorable and sheep didn't address during they just messed out. It was wrong but she didn't address that no she didn't sarah. What what was your impression of this Explanation it was a step. She had to take but she's got about nine thousand nine more before she's earning a respect back and i think that her actions speak louder than words. So let's all give her a minute to figure that out. But i don't buy the. I grew up in a bubble excuse. She's twenty years old. I expect more from my four year old. And and what i mean that i'm not making light of it is every program we show our kids every book we read. How did she sidestep every virtue. We teach young people every message about seventy street like she had to have seen something that showed her some of these things. She had to bump into a teacher along the way or a family member that showed her some of this. So i don't blame the blame it all on my parents but as a parent. I actually do blame them more. And what bothers me is. It's such a privilege to be apparent. I have so many friends that had to fight for their right with great monetary expense to be able to have children of their own and then bring infertility issues people that fight so so hard just to have a child. I think it is the most awesome responsibility. I've ever had in every day at the end of the day. There are conversations and disagreements about whether we're doing right by our children what's our intention. What's our in game. And what were they doing with this privilege. They had to not teach a child right and wrong to not teach them that. When you were born with a lot you owe a lot to everyone around you. That wasn't that lucky. The understanding you know what. It's like to earn something versus being given something. These were the lessons. My parents taught me and i as i walk everyday feeling i fail and i just wish i could ask their parents. What was the end game here because you sent your children. It's not good for them either. It's not only not good for the world. How did you expect this to be the right thing for your kids. It's heartbreaking well clearly that they hadn't expected any of this you asking people who have ended up in jail for cheating why they didn't teach their their kids better. It's kind of a crazy question but we'll talk more about it when we come back home..

"Hi. Welcome. To season two of bite. This is Tony. Till Auto. Parenting in pockets it's it's not the same way. You you know how it works any views usually two to four minutes long but sometimes, they can be a little longer. When you when you live long enough all kinds of strange things happen. Very right in saying that the Greek heroes the original superheroes. In. Part because of the hopeful nature of genes vision but also because of its message of diversity and inclusion. I had the pleasure talking with along with other reporters at New York comic con a few years ago to reach EP Henson who is on the television series person of interest. Augmon getting exposed to the whole thing that. Johnny. She has a she has a moral line she has to walk. To play that's gotta be awful. It is a lot of fun. It's tough though, but it's a lot of fun. It's a lot of fine them. You know it's Like I said it's great to be on his show I say this over and over again where you can totally trust the writers I. Mean I totally trust them I, just jump in with my eyes closed and I don't even worry because I know. I know that they have every characters best interest at heart. You know they really do and stuff to come up with. It's just hard. You know I've been doing this for over a decade received some purchase scripts and like especially on television you know stuff is sort of like bubble gum. It's you know and and when I got the script gotta remember in the in the pilot. Carter was barely in it but I just knew that it was something special. I was like whoa there. People are ready for this, and I at that time I, had no idea what was going all these incredible ideas. All I know is when I receive. Restricted red. Secret script that was hand delivered to me I had to sign for. Over. Like what am I signing here? But. It's just been a great journey. It really has a great I I. Actually I love to feature films, but I feel like I'm shooting a feature every week. And actually you don't. I so grateful to our actors because we give them. So little sometimes and they fill in the lines with things I remember the first seen tragic did in the pilot with Jim where she sits down with his character and she says, and the way she's talking to him you feel like she knows him or she knows someone just like him and and she made those connections right up front and that sorta became the special relationship and the show that's continued and was reminded of it again, this week on the set when I came and it was it was really cool I got a little chill. Flashbacks shooting the pilot was a nightmare. It snowed a hail everything I. Can't. Believe. It's great and these guys are awesome that they're willing to take that leap and accept that and say. Gray area in my character that I'm not sure about its still ambiguous to me but it doesn't. It doesn't them and we've been we've been really experience with defining Carter's back story. And it's something we want to get into this year. I think it'll be really rewarding fence. I always like say like what fans want to know something is kind of like. Do they really because it's like my wife, she doesn't want me to go where you WANNA. Go to dinner. She wants me to tell where we're dinner. She wants to be surprised once swept away and I think that's how everyone feels about storytelling. We'll get are these moods buddy you swear Accuser traffic. Carter being a single mother did that My life influenced that at all. That I, always wondered that I was like not even know about you. I guess you did no. Other name room that coming up I. Don't know what? And like you're staying with your grandmother tonight, that's like this sounds something. I wrote that own. So what do you do like? You're cop you're single mom do you do like thought about that scene coming up with FUSCO? Mike, how's he going to go out? He's got a kid. How does that work I? Mean you always gotta have childcare I. Guess. It's hard. You know and I think the sort of. Speaks more to the strength Carter's character understand that she can juggle all that and handle that. It just makes her that much stronger. was, sort, of saw your character as kind of the the compass of the show, she's actually. You've actually up to this point in the least gray character in terms of understanding where she's coming from what she believes about right and wrong whereas recent doing done some stuff and you know so but it's becoming very interesting about her character now is that. In. The vendetta that she has against hr is is putting her out on a limb and. You gotta like in a We would never have seen that from Carter I think in the first. Gentlemen that spoke during that interview with Theresa GP. Henson was the person of interest executive producer, Greg pocket look for person of interest I believe it's available on many streaming platforms. A must series really looks at a lot of different things including artificial intelligence for bite. This is Tony Talada..

This is the daily social distancing show with trevor. Here's what I'm feeling down. Nothing makes me happy of hearing some good news. Also PROZAC works but since the state says I'm no longer allowed to Roy prescriptions qualified. He has our good news for you and our ongoing segments array of sunshine. Let's kick it off with. We'd Aka Marijuana Jazz Spinach Nelson manned edibles for many people. It has been an important way to get through the coronavirus lockdowns but now it turns out it might also be a cure for corona virus itself. A study in Canada has prompted the idea that marijuana can help cure covid nineteen researchers at the University of left bridge and Canada applied multiple strains of CD to cells to see if it changed their ability to be infected by the COVID nineteen virus. They found that high concentrations of CB lowered the number of cells that the virus could attach itself to the study is a pre print publication. That means that hasn't been peer reviewed and detests haven't been repeated yet. Can you believe it it turns out your high school stone. A friend who was right. We'd really can do it all and man if this really works it kind of makes sense I mean the coronavirus is on the way to infecting your lungs and then it hits all the weed and all of a sudden the viruses like wait. Where was I going? What am I doing here? Wow if you're noticed how like I'm a virus also like a like a like a thing now before you order a costco-sized Doug keep in mind that this study was released before being peer reviewed which means it hasn't been confirmed right. You see all the articles that all CBD but it hasn't been confirmed you know it's always weird to me when researchers put studies out themselves. I mean you'd think somebody else would have to put up this thirties. But they just do it themselves like mixed mixed tape rappers. You know like those guys in the streets was a fan. You like science man you like science. You want check this out. Man has got some dope reviews in the control group and in the variable group man. You WanNA check this out man. Yeah check it out. Come on look. In my opinion people shouldn't be able to put studies out before they've been verified. I mean before. I realized that this wasn't peer reviewed. I ran out and I bought a bunch of weed. What am I supposed to do with now and another big caveats is that the study was backed by a CBD company. And I'll be honest with you. I don't know why we'd people are always working so hard to find additional benefits to weed. Isn't it enough that it just gets you high? I mean there's no methods out there who are like and try scrubbing some new car. It makes it really shiny. Now you see I like it right now. Maybe getting high. Isn't you'll vice. You know. Maybe you're into something else like gambling. Well if that's the case there's good news for you too because Vegas is coming back baby. We'll the Las Vegas Strip could welcome visitors back as early as June. I see a lot of social distancing. Tables will be six feet apart menus. We'll be paper menus or will be sanitized between each and every us so. There's there's almost without exaggeration.
