"Imagine covering the jets on a daily basis. Rich samini has been doing that for a long time. ESPN NFL nation reporter joins us on the program. House morale, rich. Dan, I have not been out of my house in literally a week, except to go out to get the mail and come back in. That's been it. So yes, I've been held hostage by this. What do you expect to happen today? I don't expect him to go on the air at 1 o'clock eastern and say, I've been traded to the jets for this, this and this. And there's still a lot of work to be done. I would be, I think there's a chance he may go out there and say, I'm going to play football this year, which he has not said publicly to this point. And I would like to play for the jets. I think there's a chance he might say that, but he's not going to announce a final trade. What do you make of the wish list by Rogers? I think it's a legitimate story. I think it's been overblown a little bit. I don't think he said, here's a list of demands. I have to have these guys to play for the jets. I think when the jets were out there in Southern California last week, they had a discussion on some players that he wouldn't mind playing with if he came to the jets and I think so it's more of a collaborative thing and Alan lazard who I believe they're going to sign is he's a legitimate player. I mean, even if they don't get Rogers, he's a legitimate ad to the roster. But then you throw in Randall Cobb and Mercedes Lewis, I didn't know Mercedes Lewis was still in the league, but do you think that what's the likelihood that they sign those two guys? That I think would be overkill. I mean, marcedes Lewis was 38 years old. I guess he's a good blocking tight end. Tight end is actually one of the jets better positions. I don't think they need a tight end. Randall Cobb 32, could he be a backup slot receiver and play ten snaps a game? Yeah, I guess he could, but that's usually a spot for a younger guy. So I think those might be stretching the limits a little bit. And as for Odell Beckham, I think at this point, that would be a luxury for the jets. I don't think the Jets have the cap room to accommodate him. $20 million a year. That's the reported per year salary. I mean, he's not going to get that, but even if he got 15, I mean, the jets, they're pretty much pressed against the salary cap, especially if they get Rogers. So I do not see that happening. Which plan B for the jets? Plan B is now starting for the New Orleans Saints. Derek Carr was their plan. Yeah, so they're one plan B I know there was a talk about Garoppolo being, the plan C I don't think the jets were ever seriously considered Garoppolo. I think everyone had him earmarked for the Raiders, which is where he ended up. I think they would be in serious trouble. I think they would probably look into trading for Ryan Tannehill. Maybe even signing a Jacoby Brissette. There would be serious trouble in serious backlash from a very angry fan base. What about Lamar Jackson?

"Opponents? Okay, who are the opponents? Okay, the rams, they had an 18 play 11 minute drive to start the game. And then last week, against Jacksonville, was the same stuff. Like they are demoralizing teams right now, just shoving the ball down their throats. I don't know if I would bet for them. I don't know if I could bet against them right now. It feels like something's clicking with the 49 rules. Let's talk about the rams game because that felt like it didn't seem like Stafford was helpful at all in that game, which we're going to talk about when we talk about Green Bay rams. It seems like Stafford's hurt. Rams can't run the ball. Nobody's afraid of the running game anymore. And defensively for that deniers got up a little bit early, and then they're one of those teams. They're like the colts, if they can get up ten, they're good to go. I guess we've Minnesota, one thing that I really like from them last week was they're just like, look, if we're going down, let's throw The Rock. Yeah. Let's Jefferson. You've got to go downfield 5, 6 times a game. We're just going to try to get you the ball. They really use their skill guys last week. And I thought the packers played pretty well in that game. It did. You know, they hit some big plays. They kept coming back in Minnesota. They kept fending them off, but they have three really, really high level skill guys. And cousins who, as you watch all these quarterbacks, the difference between Kurt cousins in the bottom 12 in the league is like a pretty big gap. You know, you think I'm any bad quarterbacks we watch last week? We can go down the list and it's like, all right, Kirk Cousins has two interceptions this season. And I said it on our show and good morning football. I'm like, we're talking about Josh Allen and dac for MVP is cousins playing any worse than those guys. Well, those guys win games and cousins has been fine this year and they've lost in crazy fashion to Cooper rush and to fumbling and then missing that kick against Arizona. They could very easily be like 8 and two or 9 and one. They could be two and three place. They could. And how about the maximum revelations? Oh my God, we love them. Tell the audience. We lose the big for this. Green Bay is minus one against the ramps. To me, this is a, I don't believe in the rams pick if you're taking the packers, which is why I wanted to talk it out. And again, it doesn't seem like Stafford southie. And it really does seem like the lack of a running game in a pretty mediocre offensive line. Makes me nervous. On the flip side, the coming off of by whole week to integrate Odell and I feel like this is a stay away, but I just wanted to point out the blatant lack of respect for the packers who I know. I think 9 and one against the spread until last week. Are they the best of the best record of the week against the spread week after week? People seem to be underestimating them. And that's why I mentioned Tampa earlier. At some point, we have to decide who we think is when in the NFC. And to me, it's either Tampa or Green Bay. And if it's Tampa or Green Bay, they should both win these weeks with under a field goal lines, and yet something scares me about the rams. I think it's a stay away. Let's talk it out. Yeah, packers come in hobbled and Rogers, you know, I said, it's worse than turf toe. What he had. He looked amazing on Sunday. He was so dialed in and he's throwing to lazard and Marquez valdes scantling and guys and equipment saint Brown guys who have not been having big gears and have been injured. He was clicking with them. I feel like I wouldn't want to face. And again, I'm biased because I talk to him often and we know I did the podcast with him. But I don't want to face McVeigh off a buy where he's had 7 straight days to build an offense for this game. And mcvay and Lafleur are very tight. They know each other, Lafleur got the best of them in the playoffs last year, but mcvay's beaten Lafleur in the past. I just would stay away on this one. I know that it killed Sean Toulouse like he did on Monday Night Football to Kyle Shanahan the forty-niners. And you're biweek, you know, do you want to go to Santa Barbara? Do you want to fly to Cabo? Do you want he stayed at home and was just working on this? And what that's good or bad? I would say, if we have a choice not to bet against them, I would say let's at least give them this week to see what he cooked up for Odell, because oddly enough, that was welcomed with a lot of eye rolling on like they need Odell. Like Robert Wright's out. They need Odell to be really good. And I know a lot of the week was spent on the offense and trying to build something that's going to make sense to be able to compete with the packers. And that's why I don't totally trust that diners game because Woods gets hurt right before that game. You're talking one above average go guy at that point on their team. Because Odell only played 9 ten snaps and Stafford who looked really hurt like he needed to buy. And I just feel like that was one of those weeks. I'm not going to overreact to it. So last one. This would be an anti Seahawks bet. Washington favored by one over Seattle. Wow, are they? Yeah. I think it's a stay away. I wanted to talk it out quick because it does feel like rock bottom for Seattle and, you know, they just had a bunch of bad drafts in a row, and then on top of it, they traded the two picks for Adams. "It is we're taping this at a little later today. It's 5 o'clock, Pacific time, p.m.. You can do this in the morning. I feel like that extra 7 hours really gained us an edge. We got killed a $1 million picks. We'll talk about that in a second. Action packed football week. I mean, wow, I talked about Rogers at the top. I know you talked about it on your show as well. I think we're both instant to see how the NFL handles that, whether they handle it this year, whether they wait, but clearly some rules were broken. So we have that. We have the Odell thing, kind of unfolding, where it seems like he's going to get wave traded, whatever, nothing happens. We had the Watson thing. Where it seemed like that was on the two yard line to borrow a football term to Miami and ended up not happening. And then and then your guy McVeigh goes and gets von Miller for a second and a third against Denver to pay his entire salary. Quick question. Is von Miller's still von Miller? Is he 70% of von Miller? The hope is that he is. And obviously, I can unpack this a little bit more that we're three days removed. They tried over the off season to get von Miller and the Broncos were like not yet. Let's see what happens this season. Season starts von Miller was awesome to start to see. And once he got in the field, he was second quarterback. Then last week, the rams traded Kenny young, who was like a good young linebacker to the Broncos for a 6th round pick and a lot of people were like, well, what was that all about? And in those conversations they're like, would you trade von and the Broncos were like, we might trade von? And then it's really funny that they play this game in Houston, the rams. And they don't have great Wi-Fi on their plane. So they take off leaving Houston and they have no idea what's happening in the late window games. They land in the Broncos had beaten Washington and the Chargers had lost to the Patriots. So now the Broncos are four and four, and a game out of first. And they're assuming ah, this thing is done. Like the Broncos, they're suddenly going to say, well, we can actually win the division to call up Monday morning and the Broncos Vasquez like a second and a third. We'll pay for most of salary, but if he goes to second and the third will do it. So they're doing it. And I think one of the reasons Vaughan wasn't dressed on Sunday last week, they thought he might be able to go, might not have been one of those deals. We're like, let's not risk this trade that we're going to be doing with the rams. So they win the game anyway. He's practicing. He looks good and I can tell you like the intangible stuff, which it's actually really similar. And I went to their game last night against the hawks. It's really similar to what Brooklyn's doing where it's like we sold out and we're all in, but like we're not done. We're going to get patty mills. We're going to go and get Aldridge. We're going to go and get Millsap and it's very similar where it's the lift that it brings the other veterans that they know that, wait, the front office, we're 7 and one recruiting, but the front office isn't satisfied. I'm told Leonard Floyd walked into the building. Wasn't aware and caught wind that they traded for von Miller. And it's like running down the aisle like the hallway. He's like, let's go. Von Miller, that's the cool stuff that hopefully it plays out and he's healthy and it's all good. But it's the Lyft knowing we're not just all in. We're all in all in all in it. We had Scott pioli, former patriots executive, and he was the chief's GM and I think we had him on good morning football and he was like, none of this matters unless they win. So we can celebrate their all in stuff. And I'm like, it's a great point, but the rams know that. They're very deliberate. They're like, it's Super Bowl or not. They know it's a failure, if not. And they'll deal with the cross that bridge when they get there. It's a cool philosophy and it's for veterans. Like the young guys, they'll have to deal with that when it's time. But these veterans, they love it, the coach loves it. And they're all in. It's an interesting parallel with the nets. I hadn't thought of that. So you think like, 'cause we saw this in basketball and I don't remember when it started. Sometime this century, it definitely was the last century of guys kind of doing the ring chasing thing. I guess maybe Mitch Richmond started it with the Lakers Lakers sure. And it's like yeah, and the older guys would kind of gravitate towards the teams of the superstars. So like, for instance, Odell, let's say Cleveland waves Odell. And could he look at it and go, I'll just go with the rams and try to win a ring and then I'll figure out my big contract next year. We certainly haven't seen it work in football. The paths, I think they're in the Brady Belichick the peak. They were always like trying to cherry pick the ochocinco, Albert haynesworth type guys. Trying to get him on small contracts with the thinking you're going to win if you come here. But for the most part, the football part is the time span is so short to make money. I think it's pretty hard to be like, yeah, I'm going to take the minimum for a year, just try to win a wing. What does it get you? Well, I mean, it's interesting. So Desean Jackson sort of did that with the rams and what happens to a lot of these football players. And again, I'll open the bag of what really happened there. He came in to McVeigh's office and was like, let's talk about my touches. I'm only getting 5 to ten snaps a game. I want to play a role in McVeigh's like, dude, you're in your hometown. We're 6 and one. You're getting on the field. I don't know. And he said, I'd like to explore a trade and Sean was basically in the front office. We're like, sure, like, explore a trade. Where do we go from here? So I think with a lot of these wide receivers and Beckham might be included. It's not enough to just be on the team. Like Lesean McCoy has two Super Bowl rings and is like happy to have those. But it was with the chiefs in the box. And I don't think that validates his career in any way. In the NBA, and it's less people in the NBA, too, where it's like, yeah. If you're in a 9 man rotation, the NBA, you're really playing. And NFL just 30 guys are playing? 32? It's like one of those deals where I look at the NFL and you talk about your friend who's a Vikings fan. They're three and four. They've got a lot of good players. They're not winning anything this year. They're probably not winning anything next year. It's like purgatory. And I was watching the hawks last night and they're good and they're young and they're going to be fine..

I think that ever played quarterback for any team in the late nineties in new orleans for two years We had everybody come through there and I mean mark bolger. And i were there That will has brought him in But dicker was a great guy. Great man you know one of those guys that literally you know like you and i and you can just call him still to this day and he's going to pick up the phone you know. He did everything a hundred miles an hour from spending money to coach in. You know plan game So it was impressive. Been an off. Every day of playing football for mike ditka. Even in later parts of my career where he was an analyst and i was in kansas city and one of the coaches from kansas city said college you might set about you think is trying to get me fired up for the game that he said you're right tackle not left tackle. "I think that might actually just happen organically and whoever gets it gets it. Tyler Johnson could catch the passing record for all Brady cares. I don't really think that he's going to zero in on one guy to make sure that he passes the path. If he's going to really stick it to the Patriots, though, it kind of feels like Antonio Brown catching that passes. A little bit worse than drunk in a way. But regardless, I don't know if he necessarily cares all that much about that, but I do think that he will, they will try to get Gronk involved in the red zone, even if he's not a 100%. He played ten snaps, right? And play a mall in the red area and try to get him in the end zone. But again, I come back to everything that just reading the tea leaves down in Tampa Bay, based off the practice, participation, but also just everything that you're hearing is that they're going to get a very limited Gronk if he does actually suit up in this game. They haven't done it up front as much, but you know, like when they rotate Jason McCourty and to keep JC Jackson and Stephan Gilmore fresh all right, so Joshua's coming off the edge against left tackle, right? Joshua chase played ten snaps. The left tackles played 50. Who has the edge in terms of endurance, right? And energy. And he's going to he's going to be able to come in the game.
