"It was like he was happy that i was home and it was in that moment that i'm like i can't i can't do this. I can't i can't just let this kid grow up with quote unquote with a father. Because i was. I'm still there but really without the guidance of a father right like the things have to change. I have do. I have to find a better way to make all this stuff work. And i wasn't happy with okay. We have to downgrade our lifestyle. Right like i've i've provided a lifestyle that my wife was used to that i want my son to have things i never had. I want to be able to create experience. I had to create a better way. So i started to look a little deeper about as to how i can still do that financially while still being the father that i'm supposed to be in also support my wife and be the husband of supposed to be so it was it was some self exploration there for sure. Yeah the the the kind of before Story that you're telling reminds me of my dad has a friend Not just one. He has many friends. But the one i'm thinking of Is a do that. He knew that. I knew in high school every once in a while they would do these They weren't like official reunions. But it was a bunch of the guys in the class. reconnected especially in the age of the internet which is very easy to do There was one guy in particular he was like the chiefs something officer of a big defense contractor and every when he would show up to these events that they would plan. You're talking people traveling from various parts of the country to to hang out together He constantly still be working on his. You know back then. It was like a blackberry or something and I remember my dad being kinda like what's the point of getting into a job where you make that kind of money if all you're doing with your money is continuing to work and you know my dad's like in his sixties. So he was kind of like you know i get that. You're not ready to retire. But when are you going to enjoy this. This vast income that you're taking in I've got a curveball for ryan. My my biggest situation is that i converted my hobbies into my income so like i don't wanna stop their days. Just don't want to own my hobbies should do on my day off. Is the stuff that i make money doing. So that's that's where. I run into some of those problems. I you know ten eleven twelve two in the morning. i'm like you have it almost. They're like i got this done and there there in lies my problem. You're at what i would say to the. I would say number one. You're never you're never there right because otherwise you stop growing and improving on what you do and if you love it that much you're gonna continue to always push So i think it's really defining exactly what it is you want and then looking at your life right. I don't know. I don't know your life situation but if if you are married if you have kids you have kids rather it's like who do you want them to know you us. I think when you have that that understanding you feel listen. I want them to know me as the guy who created the next apple. Keep keep pushing. Keep that that's okay..

"What is on the verge of doing it of landing on the exact right way. You want to do dan as you pointed out. i think that's the frustration with kevin durant. Like if john is weighted any waited any waited and chris middleton got better and if yawn is getting away with chris middleton kevin durant could have one with russel westbrook if he just waited if he was just patient eventually want but you're basically saying that superstars can only live up to your standard of them if they work within the construct of this work environment that we can. All admit is bizarre that the city that you work in his pick for you. You're not allowed to pick it your coworkers pick for you. You're not allowed to stay there and you must stay there and do it in this way. Otherwise it's not really the same and lose but told lose too much lose. You gotta suffer. You have to suffer but don't lose too much because then we're going to crush you there too. I just love what he's giving voice to got. It's really unusual for him to be in a series with kevin durant and call him the best player in the world. This was something are dispute that though right after what we saw. i mean. It's hard but like we talk all the time about irrational confidence. Right like mario chalmers that he was the best player on every court that he was on. We assume that every nba star has confidence particularly the great ones. Right janas says every right to believe this is a league. Mvp every right to believe that he's the best player on every court that he steps on and yet has the humility to say well. Sometimes i'm not and actually it's kind of turned out in these playoffs. If middleton kind of continue to carry them towards the end of games jaanus is probably the. Nba's best number two. Because i think it's kind of been determined that he can't be your one and in terms of his specific skill set and the areas the game in which he struggles you can't rely upon him to get baskets at the end can be your number one. He just might not he might have some limitations that don't make him a closer. He's clearly the best player on that team. That one's not up for dispute. I would never call jaanus a number one but he needs help at the end of games and he seems to know. I'm more marveling at the ideas to got. It's one thing to think it. That kevin durant is better than you are other to say it. He said it. It's one to think that middleton is you're closer it's another thing to publicly give voice to it but to me. I don't think that there's any weakness in the admission. Even though i don't trust the fan base or any fan base with that vulnerability shack always did it for his sidekick shack who could be pretty insecure shack. Always would say. Dwayne wade is the best. Penny hardaway is the best kobe. Bryant is the best. I think it buys you something with middleton to be saying that kind of stuff publicly. If you're a teammate of his but the only way is confidence he feels like he's an equal think middleton necessarily needs read full games he does middleton's. He's got some bad shooting games. He had one earlier earlier in the playoffs. I was i think was game. One against the hawks. He had a terrible shooting gema but it. I'm not even talking about helping with the confidence. Because i think once you get to that level in sport. That's not what i'm talking i'm talking about. That's cool to play with the dude. Who would put his name on that after a game. And when you know how great he is because middleton is nobody's idea of an mvp when when an mvp best in the world type of player is saying no. This is my closer. This is the guy. I trust at the end of games when he says because it wasn't just that says if he asked for the ball he gets the ball when he wants the ball. The ball's his which is just an unusual way for superstar. Talk but you're talking about these guys. Don't need confidence but isn't like janas. Admitting this almost him saying that he does not have a shortage of confidence. But he's not as confident as everyone else on. The court is like acknowledging that someone else can do something better than you is not the height of confidence that you always assume that every nba play every top level athlete has this unwavering confidence right but yoenis admitting these things are not markers of confidence are markers of the opposite. Are they not. I think it's refreshing if a yacht is knows. He's the best player on that team. What he's saying. Is chris middleton. He is better at closing games than i am. He's got more shots. He could hit a step back three. I can't do that stuff. I tried it. I don't and now he's doing. I don't think janas has a confidence problem. I think he is fundamentally hugely aware and knows that he has a weakness knows that he has a limitation that was exposed in his suffering at the end of last season. And so he's saying. I need help over here. It's awareness. more than lack. Confidant kept out and work on the three work on the three work on the three. He's like. hey now. I don't have to work on the three as much. I had middleton. I have drew holiday of other guys. That can do that for me. At the end of the game. I think he's just supremely self aware that he can't shoot right. And like in the end of games. You need to have a jump shot. And he just has no confidence. He can't even hit free. Throws he's gonna hit a three pointer and a in a superclub situation. Is it awareness of like all right. I can't shoot. I gotta give somebody. Who can he suddenly figured out. The free throws out of nowhere though this this thing. I don't know how long he's been doing this. Ten eleven twelve second thing but he is suddenly making free throws in a way. Ben simmons was not always a six or thirteen last night while he can make them at home when he's not being taunton all the atlanta fans all the opposing fans have now kind of recognize that all right you can't really loudly try and get in his head and it appears to work..

MLB announces revised 2021 Spring Training schedule

"Major league baseball announcing this afternoon. A revised two thousand twenty one spring training schedule with times. Cactus league teams like the reds are gonna play twenty. Eight came across thirty days with two off days and grapefruit. League clubs will play a regionalized scheduled. To mitigate travel afford the reds. They will start now. A day later than was originally planned reds playing the indians in goodyear on february the twenty eighth. We are sixteen days away from that. They'll have a day off on saturday march. Sixth on monday march twenty second. Finish up the cactus league on monday. March twenty ninth. They'll have to off days and then open the season in cincinnati against the saint. Louis cardinals a lot of these games we are. I think used for the most part spring training games taking place during the day and they've had more games at night in recent years certainly the last decade since they moved to arizona. I as a sarasota and before then plant city. The number of night games was typically pretty small. And there's been a few more. In recent years there are more for instance that first week of games. They played two games during the day and then four games at six o'clock mountain time. Eight o'clock here and then after that one two three four five six seven eight nine ten eleven twelve thirteen fifteen games in spring training which is not usual in fact. I'm looking here at their home games during the week pretty much. All of their home games are going to be at night. They have three saturday home games and then they have to. One o'clock games that are played during the day. And my guess here is. Maybe and i haven't looked at this. Because i'm kind of doing this on the is you could probably tell his night games against the indians to this year facility with but i wonder if that's in part because they want the indians to go and not travel as much so they're gonna play day games. I don't know but nonetheless more night games than usual but the date you care about. First game is against cleveland in goodyear february. The twenty eighth twenty. Cactus league games and thirty days there remains the possibility that cactus league games at least in the early going are gonna be five innings or seven innings. Just because there's not going to be as many guys in camp. At least at the outset we will see we will see sixteen days between now and and

iPhone 13 Gets Thicker...

"You remember the other day. We were talking about that next ipad. Possibly coming out soon possibly coming out. I think it was march. Some people don't rush out and get an ipad pro right now because supposedly they're going to be doing this many. Led mesnier micro mini led ipad pro and the rumor in that for that particular device was that is going to have to get fatter to accommodate that new display tek possibly to house a slightly larger battery but that is going to be fatter. Which of course apple doesn't typically like to do to make it next. The next generation of any device fatter maybe they made things fatter on the eleven eleven pro. Eleven pro max. I can't remember but then once they did people really liked the battery life. Well anyways point being is this same situation is sounding likely to occur with the iphone thirteen. And that's right. Well we're talking about the iphone thirteen already. Oh because that's how these things work tech moves. It goes ten eleven twelve thirteen. Yeah i don't know it's crazy already mode iphone thirteen because you gotta you gotta start getting prepared setting aside your extra thousand bucks or whatever it is anyway. There's a couple things. Couple cool things that have come out of this particular rumor originating mac os a car. That's the japanese mac. Site that often shows up in rumor mill. Shoutout then reposted nine to five mac anyway. The details about the upcoming iphone. Thirteen is first off. They expect to keep all of the models. So you know how we've been a little curious on a mini side. Yes about the future. And fate of the iphone twelve mini or whatever any many going forward iphone. Thirteen mini just mini iphones. Your current rumor here is that it's going to hang around that the entire lineup is going to hang around it. The design will stay the same to you. Know they don't want to rework a whole design. They just came up with this flat edge shiny thing. Then what reworking hold design already. So it's going to have the same flat edges height and width of the devices remains the same but thickness increases by point to six millimeters. Yeah that's right shake your head. You can't handle extra point six this is out of control point to six millimeters. What does that too. It's like a quarter of a centimeter. That's right well. It's a quarter of a centimeter. It's something this device is so thin to begin with. It's something and so the idea here. Is that that may have something to do with the display technology. But the other part of the rumor is that it's going to have to do with the battery inside so we've been talking about promotion one twenty hertz on the iphone. Which isn't there yet. Well guess what happens when you go to one twenty hertz well promotion you start using a lot of battery

JRPG Report Episode 144 - The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Black First Details - burst 02

"Hello friends welcome back to the show. This is the g. rpg. Report episode one hundred and forty five little bit weird this week and we knew it was going to be with christmas eve falling on our normal release date and of course christmas the next day and there must situation My little girl's birthday being the day after christmas so yeah we get a bang bang. Bang three a craziness there. Obviously just mitt that there was really no time to reporter Record a podcast. Even before christmas was just too hectic so We're recording this on saturday. The twenty seventh just a couple days left in twenty twenty. Goodbye rents But we've got a lot of cool things to talk about today. I kinda wanna wrap up all the stuff that we've missed as it's been nine days since our last pockets. No i'm sorry that's not even right. That is fuzzy. Math is been eleven days since our last podcast. So we've got a few things to go over That have popped off. Since then. And i wanna kinda look look forward to sometime this week. Mean jordan are going to get together and kind of talk about What games we really loud from. Twenty twenty maybe even discussed some Game of the year options and then look forward to twenty twenty one as Right off the bat. We got a bunch of games coming out in the beginning of the first the new year. We got to tell you rods two. You've got bravely default to you've got he's nine And the newly Confirmed for some of five strikers. Just a name The the big big ones I'm sure there'll be others. That will be unfortunately lost in the in the way. So we're going to record that sometime this week and In lieu of any news breaking. I may just make that part of the normal podcast unsure on that. But let's get into it. I hope you guys had a wonderful christmas holiday I didn't have any games that i particularly wanted that. We're already out. So i just kind of asked Asked the parents for Email confirmation that beginning Today risa to when it comes out on january twenty six that was cool and i did end up much too. Many of your delight. Hopefully i'm finally going to take a dive into these series. I picked up. Yee's eight for only twenty dollars on the ps story. I could not refuse as the physical version just refuses to ever go down in price so i figured this was by far the best opportunity. Get in on. What many consider to be a very very good. Jr pg and at some point. I'll be playing. It don't really know when that's going to be but that's enough rambling We did have fell. Calm day Twenty twenty winter addition and we got a few tidbits of information about the new legend of heroes. Toddle kiro no koseki if you notice the thumbnail for this Podcast are the two newest main characters is a third as well but these They dig use some high-rise resolution images of the to unsure why the third one was kind of like ashaari pow We'll get you later but still no names for these two characters but we do have a bit of information stuff. You see that image. There's a couple other on our facebook and twitter feed of those two characters while they are. I say have that trails feel to them. I do kind of agree with what president condo said last time that at mediate Glance they don't appear to be trails characters. And i believe that lies in the fact that they are from calvert So they're going to look a little bit different and we'll talk about that in just a little bit. These illustrations were drawn by katsumi. Nama and the other characters are from alcom. Like i said the character's names were not announced to this game is coming out sometime in twenty twenty one in japan so those were the images. There were some other ones as well. If you'd like to see all those. I did put up a slide show video on our youtube channel. So you can check those out if you don't feel like clicking through pictures of via the website here is what we do know and i will just read this to you as this is the about for the new age of heroes karoo new koseki beyond the blue sky ahead of flashing light a land. A dawning resides cuba. There's no spoilers going on in here. This is all preliminary stuff in the news story arc. So we don't have to worry about that type of stuff the ladder this latter half of the trails. There is about to begin. The setting moved to the calvert republic in two thousand and twenty one foul calm release. Legend heroes kernigan the latest entering the trail serious as its fortieth anniversary rumors of work. The calvert nation is a multi ethnic nation experiencing unprecedented economic growth. Brought about by post war reparations. In a corner of the capital of a huge nation were immigration issues bringing about political instability. Okay well maybe. There are some spoilers in here okay. let's just get to the best. I'm sorry i read that. And i didn't think about it until just now okay. The command style action time bow system. You didn't previous trails. Titles has been revamped and that's going to set up an from a couple people. Let's just see what they said. Seamlessly transitioned from action oriented field battles to turn based commands battle to turn based command battle systems while making use of the unique elements the sixth generation combat or meant would try to pronounce his last time. I'm not sure how it is x. I f. r. x. i. p. h. a. z. Feel in a ballots to evolve from the previous trails titles. Okay so what does that mean. I don't. I don't know i really don't know how to had say seamlessly transition from action oriented field battles to turn based command battle systems I i mean obviously there's a bit of an extra element when you strike the enemies on the field in order to go into the turn based battle i. I need to see this in action to really know what they're even beginning to talk about would just have to wait and see You will feature many elements you laws. It's setting including a topics system which enabled together until such topics by communicating with. Mpc's out towns tra- gate situations in your favor when you act as a spray gun and that is the The character it's basically a detective. But they're calling them spring and alignment flame system. In which characters three alignments great and chaotic fluctuate depending on your own style influencing various status allies and adversaries and even scenario developments please look forward to allege heroes lowest entrance toasters depicted enrich expression by thumbs new original ingen. So that's that's pretty cool Here's what how they set up the situation and I get. I don't wanna get too much into this. The to emit the two people that you see in the image the one is the one call the speaker those are they say sometimes detective somedays negotiators and other days as bounty hunters. They're up for any job from any client. That's pretty cool And then the other one is Say to be a school girl wearing uniform. Prestigious school visits a rundown building located in old town in cowards capital. So that's the setting that's beginning of it. You can check out those images. Like i said there's a third character in the images as well with the two swords on his back and some long hair but we don't have any details. There is a battle scene that shows what looks like to be a craft or an art powering up but that from that snippet it does look to be turn based. So don't i'm so confused as to what to make. But i'm certainly excited about this one. But the lack of details and the promise of something new is leading to some question marks popping up. And i don't necessarily love that idea but it is what it is and until we learn a little bit more. It's just going to be speculation Unfortunately though that wasn't the only bit of information. And i'm sure we'll have a bunch more but Foul calm day twenty twenty winter. Also let us know about and this is not really affecting us as much. But they did. Say that a hatch marco koseki which is the one before this one and after cold steel four Clouded leopard entertainment will release a switch. Pc esteemed version of the game Sometime in summer. Twenty twenty one in japan in asia. I'm nearly positive. That's the same company that handled The transition for coastal three and four to the top of my head. So i came out for. Ps four in japan on august twenty seventh. So you know nearly a year later. They're talking summer to get that Switch pc version now. It handles the asian side of this and i s america handles the translation available. At least they have for the past two games In the cold still series in the west still no confirmation that that translation is ongoing. That have to assume that it is unless it's being handled by other parties I mean exceed did do the first two trills of cold steel games but at imagine that they are going to do this hedge amari as well and as soon as i hear something about that it will happen. It's certainly a good thing that this is happening and It could lead to a speedier at least for these games in the west. But like i said still no information on unfortunately. The last thing that they talked about was not briefly. Mentioned this last time the natto. noca- seki game. That is coming out in japan for For playstation four. This was the old Two thousand twelve least. Psp action rpg though some new details and images kinda showing the ps p version versus the Ps four version of it They're sent opposites gonna run at sixty frames per second on. Ps four with more vibrant graphics. Not being obviously these are things that you'd want to have updated from an old old system user interface options One thing that i thought was very interesting. And i'm not to say what they say. This game is not connected to the trails game. However the main character's name is now utah herschel now you trails players especially cold. Steel will know towa. Her last name is hershal So what they're they say there's no connection but then there's a connection is the protagonist and a boy from that island who attends and academy in saint elise. Those aren't you know aren't names that i recognized the from the trails series so it is very very interesting and i would be would like to know what that connection is at kind of read through it. You can read through the tales. Like i said before i am lower on the percentage scale To say of this game was actually going to make it over here or not. I if i if you say your day is gonna come today out outs. Action say no but would just have to wait and see. The original game did not look super impressive. So this isn't a game that i'm all that excited about to begin with but we'll have to. We'll just have to wait and see if that indeed happens for a lot of switch owners the next. Gop g they will more than likely be picking up is going to be bravely default to gain closer and closer to that february twenty. Sixth rolled wide release date friend square annex released new trailer for it albeit in japanese and have still not seen an english version of this yet so it talks all well. Supposedly it talks about wiz walt. The country established by those mejia's. They did it themselves to studies. The magic research institute But the the real kicker with this one and you can see it. Is this places overgrown. It looks like it was built kind of in the middle of it are on top of a giant tree. And there's just this tree just going right up through entire town is really cool again Trailer is how long was trailer of about three and a half minutes. Like i said in japanese so you can't really tell what's going on but it is kind of cool to see some of the visuals in action Four it but if you're elected shake those game out for yourself you can check out the demo for it It is now live on the east shop and One who feels the demo before its release will even pick up one hundred mine. Intendo platinum points here is the Short official description of the demo experienced the games at risk and reward system character strategy and stunning visuals in the latest braley default to final demo in this demo. The games four men characters are already other journey with jobson abilities at their disposal. I downloaded this. The other night. as if getting the switch away from my kid was hard enough with minecraft previously The kid did pretty good for Christmas and her birthday. And i now had to contend with her own copy of animal crossing so she and my wife can play two switches and who copies of animal crossing so they can will each other's islands. I know she also got the Spyro trilogy which. I really enjoyed those games growing up. So i can't wait to play those with her and relive those moments and she picked up mario maker to so. I'm not seeing that switch for a while. Maybe once she goes to sleep. If i don't have anything to play eck fired that demo. I would like to see how it is shaping up as will If you've got some free time and you're looking for d'you monster hunter rise. There are to say ten videos in total. Let's do a little no here. One two three four seven eight nine ten eleven twelve. There's twelve total. So i check. They were they were released in two packs. I take them all and made them into six long. Because it only about a minute minute long. So if you're one to check out some of the different weapons they go into monster hunter rise. You can do that going from Things like the switch axe gun lance hammer sorted shield heavy light bogue gun. Land is long swords and even the hunting horn. You check all those out over on our youtube channel. J rpg report dot com. You can also see a new second official trailer for the action. Rpg magnum lord Still no western released on this one yet. It is coming out in japan on march. The eighteenth for playstation four and switch said. This is the second trailer for the game. It looks pretty cool. I do hope that they bring this one. Over is from publisher. D three Developer felicia quite heard of them before. But still no word on it. I really hope they bring this over because it does pretty fun but yeah nothing Nothing quite yet. i'll go over some of these ones. That are just videos. There's a fifteen minutes of new footage from christ tales. This is previewing the present and future game play of it Remember this game got pushed back to early. Twenty twenty one. That's just the winner that don't into it's been Hit with a couple delays here lately. Not sure how much. Everything's pandemic related at this point but how much they just wanna fine tune things in. How much is really needed to make this work. Obviously you're doing with a system of past present and future while stuff can go wrong and working Just the way that you would like it to work New genesis the fantasy star online. To almost say reboot but definitely the new version of there is the opening movie for it and you should probably check this out. If we're looking at over fifty minutes of new footage as well mostly the character creation for its but this opening movie You know typically when you see these opening movies. They're using a pre rendered scenes. This was actually created using parts of the in game graphics. Engine which looks amazing Definitely if you're looking forward to this you should check it out sometime in twenty twenty. One is the release date Four it but again. This is one of those. Well not one of those but this is the faa gain. That i'm kind of just don't understand why it's not on playstation four. In the west it is in japan. But you've got to either play on xbox or on pc here in the west doesn't make a ton of sense but there's just things like that in this world that we gotta kinda get used to them. I guess we got three bits of sky news this week. i is. You can check out the fourth official trailer for six defiance of destiny I believe there's an english. There's an english version for this out. Now you can check it out. There was originally came out. There was just a japanese version but the english version shows off of really cool voices that they've got for the game. They got some good voice. Talent in this one in Very fitting for the series especially the little reincarnated pug services is awesome It's about seven or review of the game If you are curious about what's going on in this one changes that they've made this series. You will definitely want to check it out. Of course it doesn't come out in the west until summer. Twenty twenty one. Japan is going to get it in right about a month on january. The twenty eighth The other day actually. This was on christmas eve that this news broke New punchy released some new information screenshots for the game featuring and i hope i get these names right la haro aetna and flown Those were the original characters from the original the sky and they are saying that Basically once you beat the game you can Play a scenario with these original characters in it so kind of a you know. They're not in the main game this something post post content but the fact that they're in their would open the door to other characters popping up from other games as well. So that's a cool thing The world inside of an item. I m worlds have mended. Detailed in this article on worlds are divided into several fours slash layers and the items level increases with every four. That you clear says weapons become stronger as they level up. You can clear there either. Worlds to power them up once. An item is leveled up. You can get the same item at the same level from then on pretty cool feature of the sky series all these images i took input into a slide show. You can check that out on our youtube channel so you can dispatch companions into item worlds to research them. There's a new team attack system with up to ten characters in it. That's a pretty cool feature. New enemies were detailed There's a new horsemen. That's pretty crazy. So here's the Previous protagonist Oh here we go says not only will hear from. Our doctors appear the protagonist in heroines of the sky. Two three four and five will also appear in three d. The protagonist and heroines wilburs as downloadable content sometime after the launch of disguise six. So there's a from the sky to or i don't know in timika these pronunciations. I'm at risk of offending people. I understand how they're supposed to be pronounced So yeah they're gonna add them in there as as post content deal see. That's the type of thing. Like i would think you'd be okay with paying for because that's obviously not a part of disguise six. They are previous games characters in new content. So take how you feel about. Dlc that is that's one thing i think is is no k To do speaking of all those previous disguised characters they are all assembled in the rpg. Still feels like home. But i always full actually it with affective disorder pat a lot of anxiety and depression growing up and felt like i needed to live in a sunny. Climate ironically ended up getting rights. Our shift to play softball penn state which was not much better than i moved to orlando for ten years thinking that would give me some sunshine and it really just gives me a lot of like under storms and eventually made my way to san diego and one of the things that i have been doing for the past few years with reef which is a global beach brand looking the benefits of the beach on our brain health and performance. Can unemployment insurance be fixed?

"Thirty eight days a little bit more than a month gets you to the day. After christmas and the expiration of most of the federal unemployment programs that were passed last spring in the cares. Act that in and of itself is not good economic news. Neither to is the reality that there are no negotiations happening right now. In congress on more relief democrats and republicans aren't even talking and so according to research out today from the century foundation twelve million people who are out of work in this economy are thirty eight days from losing their benefits. Marketplace's nancy marshall genzer explains what that's gonna mean for them and for us without a deal. December twenty six will be a grim day for unemployed workers and a us economy andrew stenner with a century foundation. Says it's like twelve million workers and their spending power will fall off a cliff. Even if you thought you had ten eleven twelve nine weeks left. You won't get those weeks. You get cut off that exact week. Benefits for gig. Workers and the self-employed are ending as is federal. Help for most people who've exhausted their state benefits stettler says black workers in the service sector will be hit especially hard since so many of those businesses have closed. Kimberly austin is a black artist. Who lost her job. As a face painter at legoland near san diego she wants federal action now. The should not eat a political joke to anybody. This makes no sense. Jonathan Luff on Co-Founding an Incubator for Early-Stage Cybersecurity Companies in the U.K.

"I'm not by background attack person I come from a liberal arts background I studied politics in languages at university, and I was fascinated in international affairs I was always interested in history and politics. And that developed into a into a study of international relations, so I I studied. To universities in the UK Newcastle, which is in the north of England, and a Master's degree at Bristol University in the south and it was really. While? I was at Bristol that I developed. An interest in joining the foreign, Service Exams for the for the Foreign Service while I was at university there and I joined the British Foreign Office in in one, thousand, nine, hundred eight, and that took me on a fascinating professional journey, had the opportunity to study Arabic while I was in the Foreign Office and that took me to the Middle East. where I I had a couple of postings. Including some time spent his adviser to UK and US military forces during the war in two thousand and three, and over the course of my my government career over the course of my Foreign Office career I increasingly focused on national security issues. So you know things like counterproliferation, counterterrorism and Cybersecurity, and so that that really took me sort of further towards the the work that I now do but really my my leap into startup space, and and the work that we now do with with cybersecurity companies that was that was triggered towards the end of my government service, I spent a couple of years as an adviser. Downing, street a prime. Minister's Office that was two thousand ten eleven twelve, and around that time there were number of reviews taking place into UK national security, and that flowed some very interesting work around cybersecurity as a as a tier, one, a national security threat, and and you know I I was involved in some of that work. And after leaving, government decided to to make it one of the things that I would focus on. And so, what are you involved with today? What is your day to day like these days? Well since two thousand fifteen with my co-founder grace, cassie, who was another friend of mine from Foreign Service Days A. WE wanted to put in place. A way to support entrepreneurs. In the! Early days of establishing a cybersecurity company we had seen in our time. In government that the this was one of the most important. Challenges and opportunities of of the of the of the decade and we felt that weren't really any. Systems or structures in place to provide the support that was needed. This is fascinating complex area of technology and business, and while there were united some fantastic institutions in the UK there were already a number of significant companies operating this space. We couldn't see the number of innovative new companies emerging that we that we expected to say on the E. found in in somewhat more mature ecosystems like the US, and and to some extent Israel, so we started, Ceylon and Ceylon was A. In early days and experimental accelerator modeled to some extent on programs like Y combinator, but dedicated to Cybersecurity, so we initially Ranna three month program in London, and it's really grown from there and over the last five years we've. We've run ten programs in London and four programs in Singapore and we've had with one hundred companies come through those programs, and so we we spend our. We spend our day odd as in running those programs finding and supporting those entrepreneurs, and then, and then continuing that that support once they leave the program. Can you give us some insights on the state of Cybersecurity and entrepreneurship there in the UK? Yeah well I think it's developed. significantly certainly over the the ten years. That we've been really focusing on this and. Definitely we've seen that. Over the five years we've been running ceylon there really wasn't a a community of of of cybersecurity startups here in the UK back in in the first part of the last decade. We we've helped to capitalize that community here, and there is now a thriving startup ecosystem right across the range of technologies, but definitely in cybersecurity. And I think there are now there are some really quite successful companies that have been set up and developed here over the past five years, and it's now very much part of a a broader technology system here in the UK. And part part of the reason for that is that? The UK has a good reputation in this space, but it's also a a good place to to set up a business if you'll from somewhere else It's been a draw for talent. globally and we certainly saw that in in cybersecurity. We could see the talent. In cybersecurity was was very much distributed around the world. It wasn't just an isolated pockets, and and we found in. Many people wanted to come and. Join our program and get the business started in the UK, and as a result there now you know tens, if not hundreds of of interesting small companies in this field. Is there, even a geographic advantage of of being where you are. I'm thinking you're sort of you. Know equidistant to S- to some of the other important centers of cybersecurity. There's no question. I think you know. Greenwich Meantime has been a competitive advantage for the UK in many different areas of a of business and finance. Over the centuries I think it gives us a genuine advantages being as you say, in time term sort of equidistant between. The economies of the of the of the Americas and those of The Middle East Asia, and that definitely that definitely helps you know having the the economies of Europe on on our doorstep, and you know the last forty years at least strong connections to those economies has been helpful. London has been a melting pot for anybody trying to start a business seek finance and I. Think you know the world the world does come to London or at least it did until we were hit by the pandemic I. Think it will nonetheless emerge from the current crisis is one of the world's great global cities, and and so you know geography masters in Business and certainly been helpful to the development of the cyber ecosystem here.

Camila Cabello Continues to Apologize for Past 'Ignorant' Comments

"I don't think that the General Public Blake was aware of this quote. Racism facism scandal that obey. Oh had in her past when she was young she more than just rebe logged. Things things on Tumbler. I think there's also been leaked audio or video but don't quote me on that okay. That's why I think let's just say and this is a good way of phrasing. It okay in her past. There was more than just one isolated incident. There was a pattern of what some would call racist behavior or others would call racially insensitive behaviour or some which is called dumb and young but should know better behavior. So recently this twitter account quote exposed re brought to the public's attention a Re blogs that. She had done tumbler a long time ago once again. I don't quite understand the thinking here if I was her manager. Just like if I was Justin. Justin Bieber's manager when he did the same thing I would have said. Ignore it. You already apologize just like Bieber had already apologized. 'cause the general public probably wasn't aware of this. I mean this is what an instance when I think and actually I'm almost sure what celebrities like me like obey Yo lie and say. They don't really check twitter. They're lying because if she didn't check twitter then she wouldn't have known known Oliver Mentions and replies right she she does check twitter and she did see that this is going viral. Ish Not even on all of twitter waiter but in her twitter sphere it her world on twitter which is not the general public. It's not the masses okay. So she decided to release a statement addressing this expose again and she said I'm sorry from the bottom of my heart when I was younger I used language that I'm deeply ashamed of and we'll regret forever. I was educated at ignorant and once I became aware of the history and the weight and the true meaning behind this horrible hurtful language. I was deeply embarrassed I ever used it apologized and I apologize now I would never intentionally hurt anyone and I regret it from the bottom of my heart as much as I wish I could. I can't go back in time and change things I said in the past but once it's you know better you do better. That's all I can do. I'm twenty two now. I'm an adult and I've grown and learned an unconscious and aware of the history of the pain. It carries in a way I wasn't before those mistakes don't represent the person I am or the person I've ever been. I only stand and have been stood and have ever stood for love and inclusivity and my heart has never even been had any ounce of hate or divisiveness. The truth is I was embarrassingly. Ignorant and unaware I use my platform to to speak out about injustice and inequality and continued doing that. I can't say enough how deeply sorry and ashamed. I feel I apologize again from the bottom of my heart so I have a lot of thoughts but I if you were her manager would you have advised her to address this going viral again. No I would just let it die if she apologized before might sit there. I don't understand what I had heard. Now maybe you could correct me if I'm wrong but what I heard is over this past this week. She went and deleted some of this stuff. My question is yeah. Yeah okay. That's true so during the time from the original apology until now now why the hell wasn't a deleted during this time. That's what I don't understand like if you apologize for something before. Wouldn't your team say. Hey let's make sure sure your entire feed is cleaned up. Let's go back now as tumbler. Something you can't erase. Maybe that's what I'm not understanding. No you can it just maybe okay. So why wasn't there stuff taken down. I think laziness really you can but it isn't that well first of all I don't know how much and how often she was posting on. Tumbler and the search functionality isn't as easy as it is on twitter on twitter. If you said Dumb Racist Shit you could just type in what you think. Thank you said there are screen grabs of and that'll easily come up so you can delete and you could go back through your tweets. You can literally scroll grow back to the beginning of time if you WANNA get on Tumbler. That's the only way to delete it by scrolling back and like what I was trying to say she may. They have been very prolific on Tumbler and may have posted a ton and out of laziness. Somebody just didn't go and scroll through and delete all of inappropriate Ed's there'd be a lot of people getting fired on my team if that happened a lot of people after the initial apology. How how do you not have a social media? person goes back and says you know what that is my job if it takes me three days to scroll back it takes me three days. I'm going to delete everything. No I think the older person should fire than herself. Because that's a directive. It should have come from her. She should have told her team if she didn't tell her team to delete it. Then no nobody's getting fired and boo on you bitch. I don't know I think thank you pay someone to take care of that type of stop. I would think maybe you don't. Maybe she doesn't maybe with this. It's so sensitive that her team is like. Okay you they David Yeah. Her team thought like even you know asking her. This would be like opening up a wound or like if there is indeed a team. That's your job job to manage landmines. I agree with you as I said at the very beginning. I don't think she should have brought it up and then I'm sick like honestly there has to be people in positions of power that listen to our show. y'All me up I am going to start doing doing in my consulting business in two thousand twenty because this statement is adequate. But it's not great. Neither was Justin Bieber's let me explain. Explain why she started off with something. That's just bullshit. In the United States of America no matter how old you are a twelve year old an eleven year old a ten year old. They all know the history of racism and slavery and hurtful language in this country and yes Camille. I was born in Cuba but she spent most of her life in the United States. In Miami there's two things that she did not mention that she could have and and if she would have been that deep bet honest I would have been like. Wow Okay I get it. Behavior like the one that she exhibited that was not an isolated incident was repeated behavior. That is something taught or learned. That is something the thing that you hear either in your house or you hear from your dumb ass friends there say hey my blank. Hey my blank or are my blank or whatever. It's your environment whether it be your family or your friends. You grow up hearing that and you think it's acceptable and when it and then you tie it into and when you're young and you don't know better you're hearing those closest to you safe things like that. You think it's acceptable. But she didn't say that I think she did. I think that's exactly what she said. She was young and online. Culture is filled with stupidity. That's all that it is. I mean it's really dumbness. It's just a pile of dumbness. If you look at it and I think kids test the boundaries of dumbness all of the time and and I think they send dumb things to one another and I don't think they think about it. I don't think it's like I don't even think they know it's taboo. I just think that they're ten eleven twelve you. I don't think when you're ten eleven twelve you don't think of repercussions you don't even think it's a big deal because everybody's saying dumb things like that when they're ten eleven twelve twelve in testing the boundaries of language that I think she is kind of saying i. Listen I feel you win. There's no heart to it. There's no it feels kind of cold. They she could have maybe said look I was ten and ten year olds. Well Earl I need to set the record straight. Should 10-Year-Old Kids Be Kept in Juvenile Detention?

"If I think back to being ten all oh really in the moment right like he didn't think about the future I didn't think about the future are even other people necessarily like you just ate the last biscuit or maybe you would twenty-five audits in in one sitting so that's not super unusual for ten year old but I mean if you there's no laws against eating all the biscuit yeah yeah and apart from the stupidity of this Biscuit Metaphor that essentially the argument that a lot of experts in campaign is using it the moment to try to convince the government that ten is too young to go to jail. Oh the biscuits or or anything really I mean. Call it juvenile detention but it's more or less the same thing so we spoke to someone who's worked with the kids who assembly spices. Dr mccreadie was a pediatrician Parkfield Youth Justice precinct in Melbourne like what do you see when you walk up to that place so looking at a secure facility so as the doctor had take rs scan to get through the front door and get my bags chicken makes right and you don't see young people walking around the premises unaccompanied I need. They're in lockdown or in their rooms. I've not and win. They're in and I've been spicer supervised but it's certainly got the leave feel secure facility and what are the kind of rooms like. Is it kind of look like a kid's an owner Keith. That's right now. It doesn't the rooms what you imagine prison. Cells is television. The ruins a very thick secure door. The root of two room and most of the children are in single rooms is a few that were buying latching mushroom single renter not television elevation no cancels or anything else which could possibly use to is where things off to self harm with so certainly a feeling of deprivation when you walk into the roofs. What do you think it would have been like being someone. Is You nine ten. Eleven twelve live somewhere like that. I think gets an appropriate place. We've got to remember that in all states criminal responsibility is ten years of age and that means the children from the age of ten which could being grateful can be arrested helping the police cell before magistrate any pass Writing Prison Mark Environments and these we're talking about really young children at young age or the young ended now have reached ten year old boy. Mutt Life Eddie kilograms sentiment is so really talking about very small children and it's interesting for example. The World Children's hospital recommends that children schouten should be the cab boost to say to a hundred and forty five centimeters must ten eleven. We would still be small enough to be in a booster say on the community. How often would you see someone that young coming through the doors of facility might pop Ville supposed in across a stray the six hundred children a year under the age of fourteen in that detention. Most of them are remanded the number actually found guilty of a crime that six hundred children a year sixty to seventy percent of children regional United States so obviously tennis is the point at which courts will right. We can hold you responsible but how how frequent is it will. How uncommon is it to to see a ten year old coming through or or a court excising that ride once kids he ten eleven that we've recently saying key to attend charged edged they may not be incarcerated charged magistrates children's coats try to put him in protective scaffolding around around children but absent children incacerated because I got made by all conditions in the bio conditions because the way the style of Child Protection Shinnecock Feis them and because the char protection's gotten away the place in the magistrates do have the capacity to put them remains or radically for their it kitchen so there are efforts my to keep the ten to fourteen year olds should been charged with crimes out of the centers but sometimes the alternatives hundreds just out there right and it's like this is the first time that anyone has heard the argument that ten is on the young side to go to jail like Queensland and the Northern Territory have both been handed recommendations mendacious to raise the age of criminal responsibility to fourteen year but so far nothing's changed so last week a twelve year old original boy from the NCAA traveled to the UN in Geneva to the case Muslims dawn. I'm twelve years old. I'm from India and God were country. I came here to speak with you because Australia. Incumbent is not listening thus at Alz Nebulous and the kids like me but we have important thanks to say I'm the Stein and your documentary and my blood runs. House nearly locked up in Linden House lucky because my family had no rhyme smart they love me. They found a way to keep me safe. There are some things I want to see changed. I Want my school to be run BAB paypal. I want adults to stop curling tenure kids and Dale. I want my language. Don Cardin language films on kids. It is a bad dreams hopes and our rights. No. It's so it's like five acres. It's kind of it almost feels like a theme park at this point. There's like I think there's a mini golf course. If I remember correctly, there's a tavern. There's souvenir store. There's technically ally berry. It's right near the banks of the Huron river and everything it's really pretty there. I mean it's beautiful surroundings. High School To The NBA?

"The NBA is going to be helped by getting people out of high school. You wanna revisit that? No. I really don't want to argue with me, go Lou. I think that they will get fewer people than you think they're going to get a better. They'll be Darwinian affect that. Will cancel out all the stupid people that go, but the good people there will be Darwinian three p when you're a union, and you turn away good dues paying union members that you've invested in. They've invested for the some high school kid who can't play where Jack I get it. Union. Oughta be of set about a great many of them aren't smart enough will those it be that will be wait with. Nobody's going because you're a big star. You forgot about all the people behind you. Like, I believe in union. United States, Federal Reserve And America discussed on Clark Howard

"Huge percent of people who would have because of lifestyle changes having kids not having kids anymore coming empty nesters. Whatever historically people would sell their homes if they owned a home and move on move to a bigger home smaller home, moved to a condominium, townhouse, whatever. But the transient nature of homeowners has changed and the amount of time that people stay and dwelling, his increased we were very unusual compared to other developed countries where most developed countries when people buy a home, they stay in that home. That's it. That's their lifetime home for maybe even multigenerational of lifetime homes in the family in the United States for so much of our history. Particularly starting in the late forties forward. Up till about a decade ago. People in America headed cheat and would routinely go into what was referred to as the move up market. You might buy your first home or sometimes for two starter home. Go to next next next. One is your personal circumstances and family life changed. People just aren't doing that. And one of the principal reasons came about the decade ago, and that was after the banking scandals and the resulting real estate crash in the United States, the foreclosures and all that. The Federal Reserve went through a lengthy period of artificially depressing interest rates in the United States, including interest rates that usually they wouldn't have an effect on necessarily mortgage rates. So massive numbers of people have mortgage rates unprecedented pretty much in US history. And I talked to so many people who got a house in the last. Let's say oh nine ten eleven twelve thirteen fourteen who have a mortgage interest rate in the twos or threes. Those rates are so fantastic. And translate into a monthly payment. That's great. Plus the home there in if they bought it in the midst of the bust has likely gone up substantially in value. And that has led to something that I read occasionally in the financial press, but has not caught on as term housing lock. Where people stay in place. Because financially it's too difficult or too costly to move somewhere else. So one of the results of this is people are more likely to add onto a house or renovate a house or improve a house. They might add an outdoor kitchen or may add swimming pool or may add redo the kitchen redo the bathrooms or add a new master on things that in the past happened. But not nearly in the numbers happening now is people would say, well, I want a new new fancier place. So they just sell that when a move to the new fancier place, but because you'd have the higher interest rates all that people are stay. So that makes this really significant. There was a survey done by one poll survey two thousand homeowners. It's enough to get some meaningful data and the stunner. Is how many people who had a renovation done by their own telling in the survey say they got scammed, and it's right at half of homeowners who did a renovation or quote unquote improvement to
