"Got twenty pounds. But i got like ninety eels with me. it's non-negotiable you have those exact measurement. Fret they're they don't make you'll change either. You can have sixty one years because you have to pay four. Ill storage when you're there to eel to go. It is weird sixty eels because that's two sticks and a portion of another stick Yeah we are two fifths of a stick to two fifths sticks sticks Next year questions are still a student. That i feel like. You've been in this hustle. Before i'm not going to answer that i wanna leave you just wondering a little bit all right okay. I respect i respect in ag- matic man but you make a really great point. Max because there was this family the wyndham family of that sounds so familiar. Get off exit. Eleven here on highway. Four hundred and you'll find windham. Maybe it was their family. Oh my god connecting the dots. But they were felber hall and they've really did have a hard time collecting the payments because people were hurt paying. You'll rinse anymore. Sorry we don't. We didn't dry them this past autumn. You know for lent the way we were supposed to because of the whole naughty thing but yeah sorry. We don't have any eels but we do have the thirty pounds right so they thought like what we can see from the wyndhams is. They felt like they didn't want to change the old ways. It is possible that this was a lent thing. Elian t for them but it may also be possible that they were super into ill. Pie is where divers just for a second. So i'm just sending you guys a picture over rs. Zoom call today about pie. Mash and mails pie mash. And you'll shops have been in london. Since at least the eighteen hundreds and they served stewed or jellied eels. Oh i desperately want to try it out. What are you what are described picture. The second one. I said i have these saved on my computer. Sometimes i go ahead. Oh man ben. League recently have been saying. I'll try everything. And i'll try this with you buddy but this this disgusting. It's like it looks like ice cream. that went bad. Got like gooey on top and just matt takeover think he'll isn't the upsetting part. It's the jelly is alley. Yeah it's just so slippery and it's just so gelatinous the in transparent and you could seal the deal. Bits in between the jelly parts yet. But i do again. I do want to point out. It comes with sides. I don't know why that was the saving grace. It's a combo meal. What do the sides look like. Oh nothing thus far is really add. Appetizing appreciate. It's just parsley and lemon lincoln. Potatoes gate mash. Yeah you get mashed. Potatoes look like that the cover with the same sauce though. I really wanna try it. So sorry guys folks ridiculous historians please please check out jellied eels or let us know if you've had an experience with them We'd like to hear your take. Here's the thing like you said you were prescient. We talked about firewood right. Payment and firewood carrying over to the early united states or the colonies in the early days of what would become the. Us people also liked old yield pie. They just didn't like pain. Ill rent so today. Sushi may be the most common use of in the us. We talked about the very top noggin. But if you go back just a few centuries ago you'll pie was the business people were all about Yeah and we got some great info here from libya karnal. Who wrote the american plate a culinary history in one hundred bytes and she is discussing. Just how big. Ill was everywhere. A cape cod huge local streams all over the place and they were so sought after. Imagine this you guys. They were using lobsters. As bait to catch the eels. What i mean come on. You're you're to tell me you. I imagine jellied lobster. I don't i don't think that much better. So if you're going to prepare your eels in that way Really prepare anything in that way. And you'll lose me but the thought of using a lobster to catch. An eel just frustrates me back in the day. Lobsters didn't have the same reputation they they enjoy in the modern age. And just to be clear here. That's because they were served to people often disadvantaged members of society in a really gross preparation. They weren't shelled. People didn't take the meat out. Crushed it all together and made it like this kind of gross soupy thing so d- delicious while you're fine as long as it's not jelly Yep i am this crunchy cool cool slurpee in a not good way. No thank you slurpy. i like it. Yes so this deterred into a little bit of a gross food episode for some people. But but i definitely want to try this like you said you were hot commodity. But something happened. There was a decline in the supply of ills. There were no longer as plentiful as they were. Once upon a time in this led to a decline of interest in savory l. pie and overtime ocado notes people in the. Us started to move away from eating animals consumed in their natural four. Like for instance. A lot of us listening to the show. Today have never killed a chicken that we ate. We've never slaughtered a cow or dressed. Dear we've gone to a grocery store gone to a restaurant or something like that so ocado argues that maybe that's what happened. Maybe people got further and further away from the natural state of the creatures they were consuming and the smithsonian notes. That il has seen a resurgence in popularity driven by the rise of sushi but that lack of supply that dearth of supply continues to be an obstacle because today the eel has been classified as endangered on the international union for conservation. Red list of threatened species because the sea food supplies run low in asia. There's also been more poaching in the us further depleting resources. You know that makes a lot of sense. If there aren't as many eel around and people are kinda changing their tastes and then eventually. The eel are protected. We're just not going to be eating them in the same way but it make me sad that there isn't some even if it's not ill. There's some kind of one to one like that. That would be valuable enough. They can't there can't be a rat infestation in somebody's rental home. And then you take out all the rats you get a sticker rats and then you can use that to supplement your rent I mean you can imagine it kind of in the way like a pest control service would cost x. amount of money so you may be able to work that in if you're good if you're a good negotiator but It's not the same thing as having a stick of eels. Yeah yeah we would need a perfect storm of economic factors to make to to create an animal that could be used as a widespread regional currency. Right we would need a cultural mores that not there. Yeah we need we. Yes we d. Cultural war eels We'd need some authority figures. Say that there was some necessity behind food stuff and then we would also need For we would need for people to not reject the idea of eating it It would also need to be plentiful. Rats are plentiful but people generally in the west. Reject the idea of eating rats for sustenance. They're seeing mostly vermin sometimes as pets. Not as not as like. You wouldn't need a okay. Wait no it's toward the end of the week. I'll ask a weird question. Matt max given the choice. You had to eat one. Would you eat an ill pie. Or a rat pie o. Eal by bill. Yeah i worked in restaurants for a decade. I know how discussing rats are like no not actually had some in a rental home that i lived in and caught around thirty eight rats the whole estimate. But here's my problem. And i think i may have told the story before kind of an idiot. I didn't understand how rats function and how adept they were at finding their way back even if you take them away a couple miles. I think i'll kill them. I did not want to kill them. They weren't hurting me in any way. It was just gross. So i would trap them where you know. There's a live trap. Were just closes behind them after they go for that sweet sweet peanut butter and i would take them away we. There's a large airport near me. Who i would release them out into the wilds out there where there's no civilization thinking. Oh they'll find a way to live over here you. I caught thirty eight. Because i'm pretty sure i caught many of the same rats like three or four times. The rest going back there like you got locked up for a second. But i got peanut butter note. Peanut butter were that this guy gives you peanut butter and he drives you back. Wow you might be a legend with those guys. Glad i moved out well. I'm glad you made it here to matt. I am super glad you able to join us on the show today the stories. Thank you for tuning in. We want to hear from you folks especially if you've lived in the uk or visited. Have you tried. you'll pie and mash is in good. I you know. I think our our crew. Here's a little bit of collectively. Were a little bit dubious on whether or not this is worthy shot. Some people not going to name names on zoom ball might play it safe and get some fish and chips. You know what i mean. There's nothing wrong with that. Those are delicious. "Shortage. Did you guys see that. They still have that in my area. I don't know about you guys. Yeah i'm not sure. I haven't been to home depot in a minute and probably should be but yeah i. I do. Remember that coin shortage completely. There's not enough coin. Well in medieval times there also was not enough coin There just wasn't there. These are precious. Metals being pressed sometimes individually sometimes in mass. But there aren't that many coins that are metal going around so a lot of places a lot of landlords would accept these things that they would call in kind payments in in-kind rent so it could be eels it could be other things that could be ale beer lagers. Those are really popular eggs grain. Really anything that household could make use of and firewood was also very very common that firewood as a whole other episode. Which could we could continue into the americas into the times of you know the sixteen hundreds in prior to that when you could pay all of your rent with firewood just because of the harshness of the weather and the the winters and the nights anyway. We're talking about today. Yeah we're talking about heels ills. Were not some especially rare animal. At this time they were fact incredibly plentiful. If you went fishing in english rivers around this time in history you would see the ills were about twenty five to fifty percent of the fish in the water. fishermen caught them all the time. Spears nets wicker traps. You know you would have a damn near your mill and then you would be literally cleaning out ills every day and the lords of england the rulers at the time. They wanted their cut. They wanted their big know. So if you look at if you look at the ten eighty six domesday survey. You'll see that. They had more records of rents being paid in elle's than they did have rent being paid in corn. And like this was nuts. If you lived in the village of harvesting for instance in lincolnshire then your community collectively would oh earl hugh of chester seventy five thousand eels per year. I like the usa per atom. Though matt that's on so much classier i sure. Yes but listen to this again. We're talking crazy numbers. You're seventy five thousand dollars to all earl. But by the end of the eleventh century there were more than five hundred and forty thousand deals being paid as rent in england per annum. Yes so they have see per annum. It's just smooth. Your smooth guy so landlords. What did they do with these deals. Well the eight some of them but goes back to the earlier question. Max matt and i had which is would he do what you do with all these ills they also a landlord would kinda cycle these out in their own sort of economic system. So let's go back to those ramsey monks. They had tenants and their tenants collectively gave them more than seventy thousand ills every year and the monks couldn't need all of those they were. They were probably at some point sick of eating ill if you can believe it max can't believe it. He's a big fan and and and the what they would do then is they would use the eels that their tenants gave them as a way to pay for stuff they needed at the monastery like they send a thousand years a year to ralph and later his widow and they agreed to pay four thousand eels. Each spring to peterborough abbey for the right to take stone from a quarry nearby that the abbey controlled so ills could be literally money that you eat which i feel like i feel like it's crazy that it that long because if you could just eat like if you could just eat a greenback right now the world would be a very different place and it's very true. Anti greenback is oh. You're talking about the papers slash fabric stuff that we use as currency. Yeah the coup. Yeah audit literally eating money. Yeah i guess that's the same thing. Well that this is a good way to get into about some already brought up. These are not fresh. Eels usually not the ones that are coming straight out and they just speared june twenty fifth live on. Dot com these are actually preserved. Eels we kind of joked about you. Know a drying technique but yeah salt and time and smoking. Drying all that kind of stuff was very common. It was a common practice to do that to these eels. And then trade those so you you actually would have got imagining chests in some wealthy landlords house. Just chests of ill that are required. It's like the medieval. Mtv cribs where was dated tour of the abbey. And then some guy who has like the celebrity you know host of the abbas is like ethnicities i e il room. Stacks and stacks on stacks or should we say sticks on sticks on sticks because when the deals were dried and preserved they were bundled into sticks. That would be about twenty five miles per stick so that was the definition of balling. How many ill sticks do you have. You know what i mean. I'm so i'm so sad that there wasn't some equivalent of poetry or hip hop bragging about the amount of eels people ad. I wonder if it would hold up. I listened. I listened to that. Mix tape once. How do you yes. That'd be in my car right now. I wonder if they if they had like quarter sticks. That was a quarter stick in. Just it's five heels just kind of wrapped up but some kind of maybe red trousers. I dunno it's really weird man. We know this. Because there's historical record of who paid. Who what and what that currency was in. The currency was sticks. Every that's how you know it's a stick of ill. So let's there's a quote here from an article x mill o'dwyer abby z sticks of eels per year. But really what. What does that mean. And then there's another thing here when you're talking about taxes because you know in medieval europe as everywhere else you always had to pay the king in the case or the rulers a little bit of that. He'll off the top. How much ill did they get off the top. And how do you figure that.

Young gates wrote a biography of her father. Brigham young who was the second president of the church of jesus christ of latter day saints came out in nineteen thirty a row of the Kind of tribulations. They experienced in this way just as the crops. Were giving promise of a much. Needed harvest swarms of crickets hovered over the plowed lands like devastating army darkening the earth for miles around eating off every blade of grass and every growing thing terrified again really terrifying and a lot of this language does have that kind of you now biblical kind of weight to. It makes a lot of sense. It's kind of funny to think of crickets like as You know the sound you hear when like a joke doesn't land. This is a much different. Sound this sort of been like an absolute just cacophony of buzzing and you know just crunching and really really scary stuff. A jittery susser. S i i do. I have to tell you no one of my first questions in the research for this was the following as a guy who was eating crickets in the past noam. Not alone here. They are a food. Source like the reim- protein other people. The original residents of this part of the world had probably eaten them in the past right. Like note max. Have you guys just went. I'm very curious. Have you guys ever eaten crickets. No i have. Not but i i would try. I would definitely do it. I just have never been the opportunity where someone's like. Hey eat this cricket. But yeah i give it a try. There's a really good talker here to atlanta called l. soro and they include a crickets as an add on to any of their of their dishes. Tacos i have not had them. But i know that they're very popular in mexico and Other parts of the world and very very common sources of protein. Like you said and you can put a nice seasoning. Blend on them and they are probably really crunchy and delicious. I'm all about it. I just like mac said haven't really been in that situation. That's not sure. I've i mean i've been to the taco place and i thought about it but i think i decided not to but you know what after the story next time i will. 'cause you gotta wonder ben. You're right the The native american population that lived in this part of the world prior to the lds Community kind of coming and settling would have eaten these Absolutely would have been a very reasonable staple food for them guy right. Yeah absolutely and now. I know where the three of us are going to go. Hang when we when we get For when we get together for our first in person kick session. You're you're absolutely right. A lot of indigenous residents lot of native american. Forgers were not just eating crickets but they were eating insects of one kind or another. According to utah. Archaeologist david madson there is an array of ethnographic death ethnic historical data on how they were eating these insects how would capture them how they would prepare them and then how they would ultimately consume them in. What's interesting to me about this. Is you know ridiculous. Historians as you may or may not know we're all based here in the south in the southern parts of the. Us there is one culinary rule. Which is you can fry anything. So i i bet like the early settlers would have been able to fry stuff. It just didn't seem like food to them. Cold dry right. Yeah and instead they went for the wolves which would have probably been quite greasy and gaming It's almost like they missed the boat on this. Right ben yeah. Yeah because the thing is now what they were getting was if it were not for these this cultural unfamiliarity They were getting a kind of extra side dish. even an entree. You know now you could have grandkids with your grain and it would have been super super easy to harvest these mats and has this great line. Where he he looks for comparison and he says i estimate that if a wail fell out of the sky. You could get more calories just eating crickets than you could cutting up the whale. Which i think is that if that feels like hyperbole but at the very least it gives you a sense of just. How many crickets. We're talking about right. I guess the argument is that like the crops. The crickets were devouring possibly would have generated less sustenance than the crickets themselves if they had only kind of looked at it through a different lens realize like oh this is actually good. Mood could be food I think that's a. I think that's a good point right. 'cause they're protein-rich rather than carbohydrate rich but there's another thing here we know the lds members at the time were not clueless the new that the native populations would forage for insects. And you can even see notes again in those journals where there are people who are saying look you know. The native communities here have used insects as a food source and According to some reports some of the more desperate or i guess we could say open minded settlers would even eat a couple of bucks now and then but they also said this was a last resort and they felt like the themselves were vindictive. Little demons were. I mean especially when you read all the language you know around this and all the accounts like they did look at this almost biblical plague. And i imagine that they were going to stay with associate Those crickets with some sort of malevolent force or at the very least like the hand of god and maybe probably not a good idea to eat them. You know like possessed with some kind of you know bad spirits or something like that But in may of eighteen forty eight after this you know epidemic of crickets. The pioneers were severely malnourished. They were not looking so good. They were very hungry and they were desperate to the point where they would have eaten anything so again. It's just kinda shame. Feels like a missed opportunity. But the doctor a pretty meeks who was a pioneer doctor. He described the winter of eighteen. Forty seven to forty eight for his family like this. He said my family went several months without a satisfying meal of vittles. I went sometimes a mile up jordan to a patch of wild roses to get the berries to eat which i would eat as rapid a hog stems and all. I shot hawks crows and they eat. Well i would go. And search the meyer holes and find cattle dead and would fleece of what meat i could and eat it and then talks also how they would eat wolf meat and roots and officials in various unpleasant things. They could just get out of the earth but not particularly tasty and then he goes. Finally the crickets came so thick. It made the earth blackened places and it did look like they would take what little we had growing which look nice and flourishing now everything looked gloomy are provision giving out and the crickets eating up. What little we had.

"The first of these solar storms struck and we have accounts of at least two people who saw this disaster firsthand in the telegraph office. One was e w colgan. He was a manager in pittsburgh and he said the currents flowing through the wires were so powerful that they almost melted the platinum contacts they used and streams of fire were coming from the circuits from the machines and one guy was actually almost electrocuted. That's right a telegraph operator. Within the frederick w royce got a nasty shock to the forehead actually because a ground wire that had been knocked loose kind of brushed against him and some onlookers noted that it created an arc of fire. The jump from rice's head to the telegraph equipment itself and other telegraph stations. Similarly reported massive powerful power surges that caused The telegraph paper itself to just catch. Fire go up in flames and disintegrate. I mean it's a hectic day at the office already if you work at the telegraph factory. That's not true. These telegraph stations telegraph. Factories would actually make the telegraph's. But i like the idea and as you can imagine people thought this is gotta be the worst that can happen right. Stuff is literally catching fire. Good thing we made it through. But they didn't. They were wrong because on the morning of september. Second the mayhem and chaos resulting from that second storm made even more problems for telegraph operators. The american telegraph company. Employees arrived at their office in boston around eight. Am and then. They discovered that nothing was working was as though some gigantic invisible switch had been turned off and the atmosphere in the area was so charged. The operators discovered something astounding. If they unplugged their batteries they could still just based on the atmosphere charge transmit messages to portland maine from boston massachusetts at thirty second intervals. Just using the auroral current. That's pretty crazy. Ned make you wonder how much of that stuff is going through you right. Luckily it didn't last forever by ten. Am on september second the magnetic disturbance had quelled at least enough so that stations could reconnect their batteries. But for the rest of the morning transmitting messages was still a dicey proposition. Oh and also wires on poles had enough energy caught enough energy at least a light themselves on fire. The damage was pretty serious by the time. The storm was over millions. Millions of dollars in damage had been inflicted on the telegraph's and we say millions of dollars. We mean millions of dollars in eighteen fifty nine so if we do a little bit of inflation calculation will get a sense of the damage. Tuten i think her calculators feeling a little melodic today no i with only take me on a trip. Yes it's perfect. Let's let's i hope it does that. Get in the future. Well here's what that lovely little too resulted in one million dollars. Eighteen fifty nine is equivalent to over thirty two million dollars today and remember. This is multi million dollars worth of damage in eighteen. Fifty nine yeah. It was absolute chaos. Very very disruptive. And we're going to get so what this would be like today. A little later i mean thankfully you know. This was was referred to by historians sort of tongue in cheek italy as the victorian internet. Right this network very rudimentary technology. But it really did kind of tied the world together. In many many ways in terms of being able. Because you know it's important how quickly you can transmit news that gives people the advantage in many situations. It's very important. Think of how many movies the plots in the twists wouldn't have even gone anywhere people could only pick up the phone and make a call. They used to be the world. Used to not be able to let anybody know about anything any quicker than like sending a letter or like you said the carrier pigeon would have been the quickest route. Oh yeah yeah. For more modern example one of my favorite things is the cell phone problem of seinfeld. Great show the very lucky. They wrote it when they did. Because most of the most of the plot complications in episodes of seinfeld would have been easily solved. Had someone had a cell phone number sent. There's probably lots of other examples of that in pop culture and so as we said. This disturbance was catastrophic but temporary. The telegraph system was not extinct to is just damaged. It did eventually come back online. And so you'd think maybe things would calm down but nole if feels like it turns out that the telegraph people more panicked when it started to work again in the land of diamonds mervyn king maker queen with a gorgeous nervous diamond before you go down on one knee visit movers. Oh no doubt because like we said the speed at which this news was. Traveling contributed to the panic itself because they were filled with these very elaborate. Descriptions of this light show that was going on in the sky. All of the chaos that people were witnessing in terms of the sparks in the arts. And all of that. Let's not forget that the telegraph network was what fed news reporting so once it went back online you started getting these headlines popping up in newspapers across the world from literally like europe to australia and there were all these descriptions that were now starting to kind of get into the public imagination. You had one report from the charleston. Mercury the on south carolina from a woman on sullivan's island who said the eastern sky appeared of blood red colour. I'd seem to brightest exactly in the east. As though the full moon rather the sun were about to rise extended almost to the zenith. People really spoke well back then. Didn't they've been. The whole island was illuminated. The see reflected the phenomenon and no one could look at it without thinking of the passage in the bible which says the see was turned to blood. The shells on the beach reflecting light.

"Silverado. In one thousand dollars seats never made it into the ovens so judge. Patricia kaas grows. She has a reputation for being very tough on sheriffs in in ohio who have been engaged in corruption and she is no nonsense and she questioned reader from the bench. During the judges questioning. Sheriff reader did his best to explain his more motivation behind his actions. Why did you cut open these evidence envelopes and take the money out and some cases you put back although newer caught because the envelopes had been unsealed in seal again improperly end. The denominations did not match what was taken at the crime scene from those individuals. I guess why did you take the money. I took the money in mind you. This does not excuse the from drug dealers that took it from parents. Very poor people in this camp that money regardless of what the and what the media has claimed in the past years of a gambling problem and that money being used for gambling was used when there was a tree planted in the name of the shelton boy. It's at the in terms of western high school to the left. As soon as you pull in. Nobody can pay for that treat. Nobody offered to pay for that tree. A drug door did when schools had cheerleading or peewee. That had car washes and such. I would have our cruisers taken down there. My men and women did not make good money so some of them would give them two dollars five dollars. I took money from that. And i provided it to those people in psi the presents the gatien the psi officer. Notes that there's no documentation that you use it for those things. I did not document. He didn't produce any receipts to back. These claims up. And we're still stood process by which those are tracked and you have to produce An accounting of all of that money so he claimed that he was essentially a robin hood. And i can have a card in my name that my wife is so i could be at one machine and she can be at the other and the money that she spends the money that i spend. "Interesting slash disturbing slash however you want to put the adjective in article that came out in The New York Times and hi Mike you just can't make this stuff up you guys you can't make this stuff up this entire article is talking about the interview two different couples who had terrible honeymoons all because of Instagram yes the title of the article is honeymoon hash tag hell and I will I read a whole book on comparison living called love your life not there's a came out I guess about four years ago now is that right step four I guess it's been four years of and the comparison and social media trends had been popping up for sure though you know five sixty five I was years ago when I was writing it now it's a whole new level I'm literally like I don't think I sold any copies of the book I don't know if you want with their comparison problem because it is rampant okay and we all struggle with comparison right we all struggle with this idea of we have this need to care about what people think I mean that that's a night in the human spirit and who we are but there's a there's a healthy side to it and there's a super unhealthy side and I don't want to blame social media but I do think it's the vehicle that takes us down this road of comparison because the old saying that you know keeping up with the Jones as keeping up with the Joneses thirty forty years ago you actually had to see the Joneses and person to compare your life to felt like you had to see them pull their new car into the driveway you had to see them at a party or at church and you had to see them with your own two eyes in person to compare your life to them we're fast forward today two thousand nineteen you carry the Jones is around you in your back pocket on your phone and you're seeing every glimpse of their life and some people are over shares nature everything about their life and usually it's the best parts right we always laugh and say social medias everyone's highlight reel it is the best part of everyone's life and not to be Debbie downers in this whole subject but when I take the stats of Americans and their money today a seventy percent of Americans live paycheck to paycheck means majority people are broke in our country today they live paycheck to paycheck literally paycheck to paycheck so you see this and it's like man people are not able to afford the life that you're seeing and so the Joneses are broke and when you compare your life to broke people it keeps you broke and so why we play this game of comparison living is it's beyond me and I was and I've been stuck in it to you guys like I'm guilty of it too but this article New York times let's talk about these two couples one was in two thousand fourteen they went to Aruba on their honeymoon and this is what the guy said he said the entire honeymoon was like taking it was it was like a photo shoot for some magazine that would never exist he described the weeklong vacation with his new wife Natasha Smith as a sunset nightmare because of how many dang sunsets she made him take photos of her in front of and she said as a digital marketers G. thirty four years old I had to prove to the world that I was having a great time on my honeymoon and so she spent half of her days shooting editing and planning Instagram post then not according to the not dot com a survey in two thousand sixteen seventy seventy percent seven out of ten brides post on social media throughout their honeymoon and they had an expert come into the article and talk about how couples on validation from their followers and their friends and how social media can be a great part of your honeymoon to keep up with family and friends but sometimes it can turn disastrous and so this couple they go on and on and on and on and on about what a terrible honeymoon they had because of her I mean that was heard those with articles saying and she's she's not denying I'm shocked that they were even interviewed for this article but and she's talking about how miserable their honeymoon was so they came back from their honeymoon and they almost separated because of this and they said it wasn't just because the answer phones but other things and I'm like yeah we all have major major problems major problems when you're only motivation on your honeymoon is to take Instagram photos we'll be live in and then there was another couple the interview that they spent two weeks in the countryside in England or somewhere where they like they both loved but it just she went through her mind and thought literally was motivated by the idea that it would not have a great aesthetic look on Instagram and so they decide to spend not two weeks away that they could afford in the country no they spent five days in Italy exits only thing they could afford and they ended up in some terrible apartment but they rented and they didn't have air conditioning but all the restaurants they went to she had to make sure that there was great items on the menu I mean it was just it was insane I would lose three nothing like you can't make this up you can't make this up and I'd like to think that people are not that shallow and that crazy but they are and so it's just a wake up call to say you may not be that that insane I pray you're not but but but all there there's a small percentage of that that drives us in our motivation of why we buy things why we feel like we need a certain level of lifestyle what we post and so it's just a war warning to you guys that that social media cannot be your motivator other people can not be your motivator of doing why you do the things you do because if you care of people think it's really hard for you to sacrifice your lifestyle and go down and lifestyle to pay off debt really hard for you to become content to be really hard for you to get when you just care what other people think all the time I was talking to my dad about this I'm reading about some of this in my new book which is not announce the entering of this is that I'm just currently writing it before the baby comes knocked over but but there's so much motivation of of fear of what people think that it runs so deep in armored my dad was like you know that just that just knocked out of me when I file bankruptcy I suddenly that was my moment god gave him like I don't care what people think and there's a place you have to get to that like when other people are your motivation miniature external motivation to buy the things you buy live the.
