What Is Charlie's Take on Juneteenth?
"I saw that turning point USA is not having off as a federal holiday for Juneteenth. Why is that? What is your perspective on Juneteenth? So last year we came out pretty, let's just say publicly against the idea of making Juneteenth a federal holiday. And it's rather clever by the left, you have to admit, Juneteenth, as it is properly understood, of course, is something worthy of appreciation. It is the day the news of Emancipation reached Texas and that news started to spread. That is not at all what's going on here. Let's stop being naive. Let's stop looking at things as they tell them as they are and really what's going on here. What's really going on here is a BLM holiday to try to focus on alleged systemic racism to resurrect a propaganda campaign to try and focus on racial differences and to try and have a point of reference right before July 4th, by the way, intentionally summertime holiday. To have the worst people you could imagine, ibram X kendi being one of them. And Robin diangelo and Nicole Hannah Jones give them a day where they could become incredibly relevant to talk about, well, yeah, of course, Juneteenth was nice, but really we're more racist than ever. That's the exactly the wording they're going to use. It's like, oh yeah, whatever Juneteenth day that what's really going on is Juneteenth is the show that look at systemic racism and inequality and inequity. And some Republicans will say, oh, no, no, you know, Juneteenth is a conservative day because it's about the freeing of slaves. Of course, if we weren't talking about another political movement that wants us to try to have a federal holiday where they can corrupt the American flag done, Tempe Arizona, they took down all the American flags and put up BLM Juneteenth flags and then have an unnecessary unhelpful entire massive propaganda campaign that will be happening on TikTok on Twitter on Facebook on Instagram. All about how races are country is.
Ask Metaxas: Where Do You Go to Church?
"This one's off. Two parter, where do you go to church in New York and where should I go to church in New York? I'm assuming this person lives in New York. It seems that way. So are they saying that they don't go to church? There's a lot of churches. Well, I find myself in a strange situation almost every weekend now. I am traveling and speaking this weekend I'll be in Tempe, Arizona, I seem to be in a different church around the country every weekend almost. So my church attendance in New York City has fallen off dramatically when I am around I go to visit my folks up in Connecticut and so I'll either go to church with them or go to church up there. So the New York stuff, I mean, there are a number of good churches. So let me simply say that if I were you, I would visit, it kind of depends on what you're looking for. Central Presbyterian, which is on 64th and park, fantastic church kind of traditional Presbyterian evangelical, wonderful worship, really a delightful church. We went there for many years before the COVID. But central players paying just a terrific church. There's a church downtown worth the trip. King's church, our friend David englehart, is the pastor there. I have actually been there a couple of times in the last month or so, but king's church, downtown, is fantastic. And then my goodness, there's so many other Times Square church where I met my bride as we say, and where I've had the privilege of speaking many times Times Square church, how do you come to New York and not visit Times Square church? I don't

The Archeological Dig of Gobekli Tepe
"When close schmidt began his excavation of go. Beckley tempe in nineteen ninety-four. He had no idea what he was going to find. And by the way the name go beckley tempe in turkish means pot belly hill. The spot was a hill. That had been previously noted in an archaeological survey conducted by the universities of istanbul in chicago in nineteen sixty three. They noted the presence of stone tools as well as some stones sticking out of the ground which they thought were gravestones based on work. At previous sites schmidt realized the stone sticking out of the ground might not be headstones but could be ancient monoliths as he began his dig. He realized that his hunch was correct. The stones work gravestones but were in fact carved ancient monoliths as the dig progressed over the years. They discovered a much larger complex. There were multiple monoliths with elaborate carvings on them. Some of them had pictures of animals and people. The large megaliths stood about fifteen feet or five meters tall. These were surrounded by circular walls. In the at twenty of these circular enclosures that have been discovered so far. The largest megalithic which has been discovered is seven meters or twenty three feet tall and is estimated to weigh fifty tons. The entire complex is located on the top of a hill which has a great view of the surrounding countryside and it isn't near any source of water. There were cisterns found at the site which were designed to collect rainwater. Whoever built this clearly had some form of societal organization in the ability to move large stones in addition to doing artistic carvings. If this was all there was to beckley tepi this would still be incredible find however there was more much more. They found embers from cooking fires on the site and did radiocarbon dating on them. They were also able to date. Many of the tools found at the site. What they discovered was astounding. They were dated as being eleven thousand years old.

Soy and Cancer: The True Soy Story With Dr. Neal Barnard
"One of this podcast series. We learned about the wave study and the promising results that it offered. And then we also learned as i said that soy is a huge part of the study but i would imagine because of the prevailing theories about soy that. There are a lot of people who are going to hear about this study. And they're going to be like it. Sounds pretty good. But switches makes me nervous You do hear these miss quite a lot in the the big one is this. Soy products have eyeso- flavonoids in them Natural compounds but maybe those compounds could cause breast cancer because they might adhere to the estrogen. Receptor if you go online you'll see lots and lots of writing like this and which also means it. Scientists have had a lot of time to study it and see what it is Chuck let me show us a couple of slides really quickly if you don't mind because it's important to look at the data on this sure In two thousand eight researchers did a meta analysis. And that's where you combine the results of prior studies in this case it was eight prior studies and the groups that they really focused in on where people who consumed a lot of sorts. So he could see. Is it safe you Quantities tofu soy milk me so tempe every day. So they looked at asians asian-americans and what they found kind of blew everybody away. The connection between soy cancer was it. Soy reduced the risk of breast cancer and it did it quite a lot by twenty nine percent in other words. The women could suing the most ahead twenty nine percent less risk of breast cancer compared to women who kind of neglected soy so looks like a preventive but they went further a at least five. Different studies have looked at women who had cancer treatment already and in some cases they avoid so afterwards in some cases they continue to have it. It turns out that those women who who continue to have soy those having the most soy greatly reduced their likelihood dining of cancer.

The Mystery Of Houska Castle
"The most famous legend about host castle says it was built over a gateway to hell if that's true. Unfortunately there's no way to prove it. The question of whether a fiery afterlife exists is better left to theologians and philosophers but host gay isn't the only place that allegedly hides a portal to the underworld take for example. The stole cemetery. Otherwise known as america's most evil graveyard. It's a burial plot in remote. Kansas on the surface it's a bleak creepy looking necropolis. But according to legend it's much more just beyond the graveyard an abandoned church looms over the headstones and grassy walkways. Perhaps at one time it was elegant and beautiful but any hints of its old majesty have long since faded away by the nineteen nineties all that remained or a few crumbling brick walls without a roof. The church is significant because it supposedly sits atop a gateway to hell local legends says that in eighteen fifty lucifer himself emerged from the underworld afterward. Rumors suggested satan would rise in the graveyard twice a year. Once at midnight on the spring equinox and again on halloween and for decades locals apparently gathered for parties to watch the devils entrance only to be disappointed year after year when he never showed but while there may not be any satanic sightings inexplicable events have happened around stole cemetery in. It's church for example even though it doesn't have a roof the house of worship is said to always stay dry. Even when it rains people have reported seeing floating lights shadowy figures that vanish into nothing in rings of flame that appear out of nowhere these fires hovering the air. The aptly named devil's gate dam was constructed in nineteen twenty two control flood waters coming down from the san gabriel mountains. The structure was named after a nearby odd-looking rock formation that vaguely resembles a horned devil face but before the dam was even built dark myths and legends suggested this stony shapes weren't the only demonic influence in the region in the nineteen forties. A man named jack. Parsons became convinced. That the devil's gate dam held other worldly power today. If you're interested we've covered croly and order tempe oriented extensively in our show secret societies but for our purposes. Here all you need to know is crowley was an extremely controversial occultist and magician once labelled the wickedest man in the world and he allegedly referred to the devil's gate dam as one of the seven gates of hell giving cronies association with the area. It comes as no surprise that parsons is said to have performed magic rituals at the devil's gate but some believe persons may have opened a portal to another dimension or to the afterlife itself. This sounds difficult to believe. But there's evidence to suggest that something strange was happening in around the dam in nineteen fifty-six a thirteen year old boy and an year old girl both went missing while biking through the area.

Does that concern you would all do you think the lack of urgency could hurt him or they're just waiting to turn it on? Come playoff time. I think they're waiting to turn it on. Come playoff time. I just think that when you're a team that wins the Super Bowl, and then you have all the covert stuff and everything else going on, I think it's just a different type of season. And offensively, they haven't been what I thought they would be this year. I think they're turn it on in the postseason. What we saw in the post season last year. With all those points and coming from behind, and teams unable to stop him. I think that's more of what we'll see in the playoffs. Not what we've seen in the regular season, Pete how much of a threat do you think Buffalo poses? I know Kansas City took care of the bills. In the head to head matchup earlier this year in the regular season, But given how well the bills have been playing specially the progression of Josh Alan, do you think they really could give Kansas City a scare if they meet in the NFC title game? Yeah, because I think that's the kind of team that will give him. A scare is one that can keep up with him. You know, we saw it last year, The Tennessee went in there ran the football couldn't keep up with him. Had the lead couldn't keep up with him. I think the teams I can keep up with them. A team like Buffalo will be the one that will give them problems. And you mentioned that Josh Allen is Playing outstanding football should be mentioned in the M V P conversation. That command of the offense in the line of scrimmage is amazing, and people are just Shocked that he's made this transition to what he is, is a quarterback. I'm not on Dhere was my top quarterback come in and out of that draft that year. I love them. I know he had bad staff and people said his accuracy was bad. But when you look at his numbers that the receivers dropped a ton of balls, you know I would joke around. He's playing with bouncers and bartenders at Wyoming, and now he's playing with real receivers and his first couple of years in the league. You didn't have a great offensive line and didn't have great receivers. So now you're seeing what hard work in a big time arm in a big time quarterback and do Be a sports calm and CBS Sports H. Phew. Let's talk about the Patriots Cam Newton's future part to discern go back to what happened this summer. Every other team passed on him, including Ron Rivera's former head coach, You could have used a potentially in Washington. I don't think Cam deserves any blame for what's happened this year. I think his body is just falling apart. Is there real chance that if he wants to play next season, he's gonna have to settle for a backup role. Yeah, I think it's gonna be more along the lines of a backup role. You know? Amazingly, he can't throw the football right now, which I don't get it. I mean, you saw last night there were a couple opportunities. To hit some passes in the middle of the field. He skipped him. I don't know why he just hasn't looked comfortable throwing it yet that one game at Seattle early in the season when everybody thought, Okay, we can do this back to being Cam Newton. But he isn't and maybe all the wear and tear on his body. Have taken a toll. Remember? He's had a bunch of injuries. You have to shoulder on Gwen thing about Being hit the NFL on a constant basis. I don't care how big yard he's the biggest of the big When it comes to the quarterbacks who run around that's going to be a problem down the road. You have to be able to play the game inside the pocket. Um and you have to be able to move to throw not moved to run, and I think for much of his career, he moved to run and that's a problem. So I think he's back up next year. I don't think he's a starting quarterback. Pete. How about the Patriots moving forward? They know Jared, sit him better than anybody else, and they could have made those starter any time they wanted to. We saw him get into garbage time last night. How do you think the Patriots address the quarterback position in the off season? We gotta fix it because I don't think the answer's on that roster, you know? Well, they explore Matt Stafford may be making that kind of move. They don't have a ton of money, so that's gonna be a problem with a look into maybe, you know if there's a domino effect, let's just say the Jets are ready to move away from Sam Darnell's, which now might not be the case. Then maybe the 40 Niners take Sam Donna because I think you'd be perfect in their offense. And they let Garoppolo go, and he ends up in New England. So I think that could happen. If not, you gotta find one. You know in the draft, and you know, it's a tough thing to do. You got lucky one time when you got a six round quarterback who ended up being a hall of faith. And you can't count on that on a regular basis. So this draft you look at it, You know, Trevor launches going to Jacksonville. What do the Jets do it too. Maybe they stay with Donald. Maybe they don't but that were, you know, you end up getting some of those other guys in the conversation. Including fields and Wilson, and maybe Trey Lance down the road. But if you look at that group of quarterbacks is New England and have an opportunity to get one. That's the million dollar question. "Out of the self driving game. The ride hailing giant has sold its autonomous vehicle research unit to a startup. It hasn't quite given up on the idea of robo taxis, but it is recognizing it can no longer afford to spend billions of dollars on the technology. NPR's Camilla Domina ski reports. Uber has always aimed big. It wanted to operate around the globe. It wanted to replace personal car ownership. And when it came to self driving technology, uber wanted to play a starring role in that revolution and make a fortune off of it. After that deadly crash, Uber pulled its test vehicles off the road for a while, but research into self driving software continued. Self driving could still be part of Uber's future and years to come through partnerships, but the company won't be developing the technology in house. This is a shitty jik vision, but ultimately going to really play out. They were gonna need to sell this business. They could not support that level of our he needed to make this successful. All that expertise is heading to a startup named Aurora that's working on self driving trucks. Uber isn't getting any cash in exchange. How do you say balls in arabic and they would say whatever whatever it is a by dot by that and so i came up with joke or go by. That sounds like five. That like you know by my balls. Whatever it was. I had a joke about it so that another time if i would run into show there's an arab in the audience and he says by that i already have the punch line seems like came up with it but i have the punch line. Okay but the beauty of it is. You're still to walking on that tightrope because you might get an answer that you don't have you know a joke for or sometimes. That answer is a gift. So in the special as i'm going around how do you say balls. How do you say falls. Heidi balls all of a sudden. Some lady from the back goes sign language. I go what she goes. Yeah how you say. Balls and silent. I'd i had no. I'd never seen it before. And i go show us and she just goes to goes like this and i go. Holy moly tell the cameraman. I go make sure you get that. That's balls in sign language that i it sounds like you're saying elephant bulbs or like you sit up saying you're in the moment and you just throw it out you know So yeah the comedy store really taught me a lot of that stuff. That's really cool. And i had seen you. Maybe it was always a flappers where you were talking with armenian guys and you're asking them what their names were and one was like carpets and oh like carpet lead you pointed to the carpet so it's so cool to see the inner workings of that in here about that too was going to ask you. You're going to be here in tempe november twelfth to the fourteenth and i was just thinking it's a week right after the election and i being in the moment i was gonna ask. Do you have for your material. I know that in immigrant you did have some political points and Very astute and you're able to make them funny as well. Which i think is like the icing on the cake. But i was gonna ask. Have you prepared anything or you thought about alternate endings like or how are you thinking about approaching it. I am a little intimidated by the whole thing. Because the truth is the unfortunate thing that's happened is because of the pandemic we haven't been able to perform as much as we normally do so whereas i would normally be getting on stage five to ten times a week and really working out my jokes over and over and over and over again..
Arizona Might Be A Key Battleground State
"Of the elections, most pressing questions may be found in the new battleground state of Arizona. It has many of the key voting groups that will be pivotal and a host of close states and an early voting system that has been tested in the past and has been tabulating votes for two weeks. Meaning we'll know who the bulk of those voters picked by the end of the night. Joe Biden has enjoyed a small but consistent lead in Arizona since the summer thanks to suburban women, seniors and Latinos, which suggests the one time home of American conservatism could be changing in the same way the country is becoming more diverse and mohr educated. But Democrats thought that in 2016 to That long line of green envelopes who see marching together contains just some of the record number of completed mail in ballots from Arizona voters. First, their process through state of the art machine. Theun. They're sent to ballot tabulation centers for counting Arizonans of both parties have been voting safely and easily by mail since 1992. This election For the first time, state officials started tabulating ballots 14 days before the election. As of tonight, millions of early votes have been processed. The results sit in secure servers, those red and blue machines that are sealed, transparent and not connected to the Internet. And no one knows what those results are. We're allowed to post results an hour after polls close, so a PM on election night here in Arizona, Katie Hobbs is Arizona's secretary of state and chief election officer. On election night. How much will it be an advantage that you will have been able to start counting for 14 days. That's a huge advantage, particularly over states that are seeing a huge increase in the volume of voting by mail and statutorily aren't able to start processing ballots until that day. We're certainly going to be ahead of them. That anyone is holding their breath about the outcome of the race in Arizona is notable. It's a long time Republican state But it is changing. Seven million people now live in Arizona. Spurred by America's fastest growing county, Maricopa County, the home of Phoenix and Tempe. It's also known for its blooming suburbs. It accounts for 60% of Arizona's vote, and no Democrat has carried Maricopa County since 1948. Traditionally would we be in Ruby red part of Arizona. Maricopa County is the largest county of that. Trump won the last election. And so this is the center. Trump Bill in Arizona. If Arizona turns Blue will be in part because of voters like Yasir Sanchez and his wife, Emily, conservatives who live in the Maricopa County suburb of Gilbert in 2016, they never saw Hillary Clinton sign in their neighborhood. Now the streets by their house are dotted with Trump and Biden signs poking from the alternating beach towel sized front lawns. They've added a new entrant in the sign wars. Arizona Republicans for Biden, Yasir and Emily are voting for a Democrat for the first time. So how's that going over? I've noticed people coming out of the woodwork. But, interestingly enough silently they'll come and say, Hey, I see that you're supporting Biden. I am, too. But I can't really tell anyone or I can't tell my family so people talk about shy Trump voters are they're shy Biden voters, absolutely the

"Lawyer. I thought I was the August surprise. Hello, Gato Know you're not the August surprised. I mean, who would have thought that on a Monday we would be graced by the presence of our governor coming up in three o'clock now, Becky Lin, we're carrying that live at three. We are Is that correct? Yes, it is. We've got reporters down there because this is a shocker that it is absolutely unbelievable that it's happening on a Monday. I mean, what a gift. I mean. What a wonderful way to start the week. Do you think he's doing it? Because he felt bad that he didn't deliver all last week? There was no check the box Thursday. Don't check the box. Do you think he'll give us two this week? Oh, gosh. I hope not. I hope this one is about five or 10 minutes, and then we could just move on to everything else That's going on in the world. So what? You were being sarcastic. Oh, I can't believe it on the show Starting right out on Monday. I'm being highly sarcastic. All right. So we've got to check the box Governor Doug Ducey press conference. Kind of, I don't know. Is there like a sitdown thing She could have graphs is going to be all that crap. He's going to be talking about compliance with, you know, we've got some bars that were shot down, okay? And also you know that the flu Okay, It's going to be coming back here in a few Mara. So do she's going to talk about the flu and why you should get vaccinated. And he's also going to talk about the bars and the clubs. Couple of them got shot down. Shut down, I should say, And I think there were three of them. They were in Scottsdale one in Tempe. They couldn't even last a weekend. By the way, I mean, it's unbelievable One couldn't even make it a night, son. It's Mary's who couldn't even make it through tonight. All right. So do see it. Three will carry it live on. That should just be. AH should be fantastic. All right. So let's talk about what he's going to talk about. We've got we've got. We've got some bars that open and then they can't my goodness. They can't even behavior a single day. So three bars were shut down this weekend. So let me let me even shock you, Mohr and this is not sarcastic Becky Lin A TTE leased the governor and the governor's office isn't waiting Three months to close that some of these bars down, that's a positive. I thought you were going to tell me you went to all three of these bars. I know Lloyd that is in my eyes in my rear view window. I used to love the bars and the clubs when I was young, and you're still a man about town. You just say you do it responsibly. Well, I'm not going man about town Snitching. You're probably one that called him all in. Oh, I love it. I hope they got snitched on. I think that'd be fantastic. So hey, honestly. Honestly, good news is you shut these places down because they're not acting properly. The last time Governor Deuce. He had a chance to do this, He said. Well, everybody else is doing a good job. Remember that good actors bad? Why are we only talking about the ones that aren't doing a good job? Hello because the ones that are doing a bad job or spreading cove it and you should've shut them down months ago. So I think this is actually a good sign that maybe they're paying attention this time around the learn So, Lloyd, This is awesome. You actually have inside information now? You are not a bar Hopper. You never have been. You don't go to the clubs, you know, Like, you know, Pablo likes to go dance and all that stuff and the ladies love young zonal. That's san. I'm a loser. No, I'm saying that you don't go to the clubs. You're saying I'm a nerd. Saying I'm not real cool. No, I'm not saying I need to get a life may be a little bit, okay. But you actually know a few of these. What happened at some of these, Claudia? I always have inside sources. Okay, So what? What happened Because some of these clubs and bars are belly aching that Hey, we got screwed over. We were doing everything right? But the state is saying No, You don't have any social distancing? No, you don't have any masking knowyou were day Everybody was dancing on top of each other. Table occupancy. Throw that out the window. What happened? So that was the two in Scottsdale That was bottled blonde and Casa amigos don't know about them, but the one down in Tempe on mill. Glo shots and cocktails. I am not familiar with the establishment. But I was talking to our intern today, all right, and she mentioned to me that she was down on mill. It like 11 o'clock on Friday night. I was down there a little earlier. Not very responsible because she's very response. Okay, she said she went to glow shots in cocktail. Yeah, that's responsible, And she said She's like I walked in, and I immediately knew I wasn't going to stay in there for like, even two minutes because she said, nobody was wearing masks, she said some people she backed up and she said, some people were doing the the mask under the chin. You know that moves, which is not wearing a mask properly. You're supposed to cover the nose and the mouth, not wear it on your chin. She said that it was so packed in there that she had to walk sideways to get through people, which is like a typical Friday or Saturday night in a bar on mill, Not a place that's supposed to be 25% full at Max. So she said it was that pact, so it was not 25% full. Yeah, she talked to somebody in there who is waiting 15 minutes to get a drink. Do you really think if it's 25% occupancy, we're gonna have to wait 15 minutes to get a drink now. Now glow shots and cocktails. Try to fight this on instagram, and they put out a message saying the liquor board shut me down for this 25% occupancy with food 10 people standing is what did it And they took like a video of the place. That is not at all what my intern described to me and I gotta be honest. I'm taking my interns word over the word of the person who posted that on Instagram. So they were trying to say that they were doing everything right? Yeah. They posted a picture that made it look like the les mis place to be. Here's the thing. You've got a business, right? If you have a business and you want to stay open you've got you've got to act responsibly and three businesses apparently did not act responsibly and my thing would be do you guys just want to go out of business? Like Do you care about making money? Do you care about keeping anybody safe? Because, apparently no. Like, why would you go for one big party and let everybody in and do their thing. And now you shut down again. What good does that do? If you're a business owner doesn't do it. You just shot yourself in the foot. I bet they thought they were going to get more strikes that they would get warnings like they could push it to the max. And somebody would come by and give him the do that. Do that Knock? Knock thing that you're so good at Yeah, that they would show up. Do that and say like, Hey, you're breaking the rules. You better watch out all in this case. They took the liquor license right off to get and suspended him. I'll tell him. I'll tell you. I'll answer the question. Why would they do it? Because they think that Governor do sees just this this, you know, empty set in the sand. It doesn't doesn't care didn't care before doesn't care now. You know again for you know for Governor Do see, I'm over it. He's over it. Hey, you know, I'm just I'm so like done with him. And I'm not..

He said this violates the students. Code of conduct and possible discipline ranges from warnings to suspensions and expulsions. All right, so maybe not a fine. I think if it's the Tempe police, it's a fine, but as who isn't going to find you, they're just going to either spend you if they find you at a party. And that's what they might do. We're well. Neighbors probably called Oh, yeah. Neighbors saw it happens. I saw that movie in the movie Neighbors. Yes, with Ah, You know those people? Those big stars, big stars. Can't remember that. So what you were doing something wrong in the studio snitch on Beverly if he would probably difference, But that's different. Like you would want to capture me if you're like the aliens because you're not get anything for me. Him. He'll give it up. Readily. Right probe you get, you're going to get something for you. If he was taken like we're in the we were somewhere far away in the land where people don't like us and they grabbed him and they grab me. They're like, man. We beat the crap out of this was the land that people don't like He would be like, Let me tell you something. Whatever you guys want to know, I'll tell you everything. Just don't hit me in the face, Be a snitch. Get free tuition. This is how you keep kids from partying. It's a fantastic idea. I'm totally behind it. And you will be great, duping the pariah on campus your entire four years and making it worse and Everywhere you go. Like other snitch, kid, there's a kid that's not paying tuition. Not talking much kid was at the party took the picture. Oh, yeah, we'll give you free tuition. Sorry. You can't go here too. So now you ditched and you got found out that you were at the party and I'm going to rethink my idea, John, You're horrible. Get around thinking it's I'm starting to think it's not the greatest idea. So I'm gonna I'm gonna work on it. And now you're starting to think I'm starting to think maybe it won't work. But we'll see nine parties in Tempe. You know, you snitched you get free tuition. What you WanNa do is take the tempe and you WANNA cut the campaign half and so do that cut it in have the with wise so so that it's ready to be cut almost into fours so you have four that will each go onto each sandwich Because, you're going to be making four sandwiches and so if you want four roles, you can do it that way to keep it simple or go with a huge sub sandwich, and you can cut that into fours, whatever suits your patsy whatever works for you and then So what you can do with the tempe is we want to marinate that and So once we've. Cut that up, we're going to set it aside and make the Mojo sauce here. So combine the oranges and or the orange juice with or you can squeeze one orange if you don't have orange juice. I'm developing more empathy as well Came from you know directly from my experience of losing my parents Since it's been about two two and a half years now within But you know my mother almost almost your life you know at at that time looking in my late twenties at that time and Life is just became very very difficult. I think that when you are in a situation where you're about to lose a think a very important person in life And you're not sure where that pendulums Swin It's almost like life concedes up and just become very where you just have very heightened awareness of yourself Your interactions with the world. The people around you and not in starts to come see it. It's not such a life. It's not a near life experience for me personally but it was more like You just start to become very hyper aware and I think during that time I experienced a lot of other people suffering through illness. You know my mother put her in a hospice for awhile. Because she just wasn't get an investor at that time was I go to work six. Am in the morning. And then I'll get get out of work around six PM. A hospital Tempe until the kicked me out. You know In you know you'd see people just waiting to die people who just need help but you can't help them any. It's very helpless feeling. I think that at that time I was working opposite. Just wasn't Saddam me in any way shape or form and you just become hyper aware fact that you know. I don't have wherever I was in late. Twenty S. How long have left to to do all these one do another ten years? Twenty thirty bucks. Michael Very big number now so is definitely put me in the state of awareness Does she have a terminal illness? No my mother Luckily she she did recover to the point where she didn't need to be in the hospital where she's just Heart failure so It was very touchy though. And that's GonNa last with us for live maintenance fee monitor for us for life But yeah that's that's pretty much just a bit. She's still alive today. Yes yes yes very very grateful for what mom you know. She's not going to be able to be mom. She was before flat on grateful again. Hyper awareness right. You just grateful that my mother's alive and that's very very important to me. In the way that you set that up I was like oh my gosh what what is going on. I'm trying to sort it out my head. I thought you said I had to do with losing my parents of like you lost both your parents at the same time in two years. Hold my gosh. So did you lose your dad or I did. Yes so just around the time of about mom back a stable position to be at home. He Edge Rearrange. The Bima sisters Arranged alive like my mom can't be on her own It's not that's just not going to happen But that's fine like I said I'd rather have my mother live and spin and be with her and spend time with her then then want to have anything else But a year from that. My Dad died Again very suddenly Knowingly expected this and so I in a way I kind of lost in both in in one way or you lost the mom. The you'd new in the now she kind of have to help her to care of her and she's no longer going to be the caretaker view. Right yeah I think that you know even though I think that you know obviously all adults and you don't need our parents to take care of us and that can wait you tensioness going home appearance job retention this holidays when people are like. Oh On see dad. I'M GONNA go see mom or my mom went for what you'd miss the little things and I think that's again since a piper awareness but also fuel for the work because you you get into smoking feels very singular. You know you don't have that person call on phone became an advice or hey dad you know whatever the awesome. That's just Kinda gone. So I think you know again. This bit heartache articulate because I think I'm still very much in that process of understanding my own kind of needs and wants and had fulfilled them but luckily I think a career path. That is very fascinating to me. You know being able to dive into work and have a great sense of empathy for the clients that work with A governor standing to needs and wants and also at the same time it gives me fulfillment and joy. You know. Perhaps I am in a way lacking at times because I'm still trying to navigate through this process

How We're Maintaining a Healthy Plant-Based Diet with Limited Food Options
"Cova is actually forcing us to stretch and expand and creative new recipes because we have such finite and different ingredients that we have to love Ridge. So there's some silver lining I think. Yeah Yeah Yeah. That's a great story. Like no no I. Actually I agree with you and really even outside of Cornell virus or Cova Nineteen I. I love it when we're at home. And we don't have a lot of the ingredients. We would normally have to like hit up. Are you know kind of stable recipes And we're forced into experimental doing something a little different. I actually really like it when that happens. And it doesn't happen all that often normally in life because we go to the grocery store once or twice a week and never really run out of stuff so it is Kinda you know. It's kind of Nice that we're the least. Katy and I are being forced into thinking outside the box a little bit when may have all this pantry? Non Perishable stuff that But not as much fresh food as as normally would yeah. I've been talking to a few of my friends like going at town in the kitchen and not known as real quick you know. They're getting so much more because they have that extra time and actually diving more into the plant based world too because it really is. There's so much more variety if you think about it when you replace plant based meets instead of real meat it's like you got tofu. And you've got vegan sausage veggie ground got lentils and Tempe Elvis other stuff that you can really adventure out with now if you haven't been Vegan or haven't been plant based Over the last few years like us. So Yeah I've got. I've had a few people reach out to me and say I've tried Vegan back and cheese. I've tried you know veggie ground for the first time and I think that's pretty cool Do you WanNa go through like what? We're what we've been eating in the quarantine like a great idea like what? How have you have been approaching food over the last the last week or so? I'm really excited because I recently discovered a new green technically. It's a precarious. I think there's a lot of Moss on the rocks around my house and so even talking to eating boss even be that bad boulder right. I mean surely you know I'm a little bit more terrified and probably my neighbors. You guys 'cause You know as you know. We've got a new baby coming this week writer in the next week and And so I'm really trying not to go to the grocery store and like even packages we get from Amazon. Like I wear rubber gloves and I put them into quarantine in my garage. Four days hoping the virus will die in the event. That like the mailman was sake right. Like I'm I'm really taking it to an extreme because you know the the The stakes are little higher for us. Of course I'm going into the lion's den into the hospital with my wife so that's really disconcerting and a whole different subject but no. I haven't started eating Moss but given what we know about algae right like I perhaps you know. There's there's I can senator scientists complement and see what kind of long chain fatty acids might exist in Moss Moss called. Yeah that you've been saving going out and and grabbing this off of your auto no so disclaimer for Julia and anyone else who didn't realize freaking out. Do not eat the mosque on your property. I don't know what will happen. We'll probably find a new PSYCHEDELIC as a result of this podcast. Someone's like the coolest looking towed. I've I've not actually. I'm standing in my office right now. Looking out across a ravine see this giant rock with a ton of Masan it so I was just thinking to myself like if I had to go forage. That'd probably be the first thing I look at. You know yeah okay. So if you're not eating us what what are you eating? You can go first Julia Ghost. Okay so I mean. It hasn't changed a ton but I wake up and make a big green smoothie so I actually just posted a smoothie recipe on my website hooked on plans with compliment in their complement proteins. Medicinal Mushrooms too and I always just pack it to the Brim. With Greens not loss. I've got Kale and spinach. And even through some sprouts in there sometime sprouts are really good especially now because they boost your immunity tons of antioxidants in there. They last quite a while in the fridge too. So stock up on sprouts and then I have a bunch of frozen bananas in the Freezer at all times in Ziplock bag so throw a couple of those in there and a cup or two of frozen berries and blend that up and then if you need a little sweetness he can add a couple of dates or something like that but I always have like three big smoothies throughout the day. That both Davey and I sip on so it's always good when you when you're hungry but you need a little boost of immunity and really good nutrition so always a smoothie. I go for my run still. I know that we're quarantine but there's nobody outside in our trails. So do that and then come back and have overnight oats and it's just something that I've fallen in love with. I actually had a breakfast cereal before. Now I'm not doing that anymore. But it overnight notes with buckwheat oats and Macha and dates. And what else do we throw? They're a little bit of Maple Syrup. And then I just soak overnight the easiest thing in the entire world with whatever your plant milk favorite is and then you top it off in the morning with some coconut yogurt and a bunch of fruit. So that's super feeling and delicious and have a match or something to and then lunch. I kinda snacker when it comes to let j love like Hamas and veggies and some kind of yummy crackers or something like that or even like Romaine dipped in Hamas super crisp Romaine and apples and dates and I just love snacking at lunch. I don't know why maybe it's like a kid thing that I've always had and we've been trying to get out and do something in the day away from people so something outside when is beautiful and sunny outside because it's just like you know everyone's a little bit anxious right now and you just need a little of that extra boost of energy and like feel goodness so we're not on. Full lockdown were quarantined away from people and getting out and going for ski tour in the mountains or go for bike ride or something just feels so good at man for dinners. That's like that's when you can get super creative and like I was saying my friends are just exploring the whole vegan realm a little more so I'm helping them out but just last night name off one meal we had passed out with. I actually need like a kind of the bean sauce to thicken up the tomato sauce. So out of white beans you just add that to the blender you add some nutritional yeast and some kind of like a spices garlic and onion. And what else do a little salt little museau paste in Dijon and that makes such a Yummy creamy kind of sauce and you could use cash used to but I liked the lower fats lighter version and then he can add that to your pot of like red pasta sauce. I just I had it from the can or from the jar because it's just easy. There isn't past sauce in there through that extra bean sauce in there. It's nice and thick and with some sauteed onions mushrooms and a few extra vegetables and then you can add in some cooked lentils or we had some Eve's Veggie ground round so it's not as whole Foodie but a little more fun for the quarantine veggie ground grounded on meet kind of thing. Yeah Yeah so. Throw that in there and then passed Got this kind of passed a Bellona's that's Kinda creamy and delicious. It was so good. Yeah we've been doing a bullying as as well with by with lentils and Like cashew cream tomato sauce. So frigging good I. I don't know why we just discovered that it was a recipe from Isa. Does it just discovered not that long ago? A couple months before all this happened. But it's been actually something we've been talking to a lot because you know lintels are are easy dryden we can cook them up really easily and then just add some tomato sauce and a little bit of cashew cream and so good
