And I was a I'm looking at it and I'm saying, wow, that was nice of them. People I do not hate. And I said, it's not a lot of them. Yeah, that came about. I was saying, because I said I hated some of these, I don't even know who they're like, all you do is hate everybody. Yeah, right. So I said, all right, fine. I'll compile a list of people I don't hate. And it wasn't your right teddy. It wasn't very long. No, I mean, that was the thing that made me feel good. You know, kind of. By the way, Dave, how is I don't know how teddy Atlas does and have a barstool collab of some sort. You couldn't have a more honest truth teller on your team than the legend teddy Atlas. It would seem. We talked about it a little bit and then COVID hit. And everything like everything we started doing, we stopped doing basically. So that was the first time we kind of had to pause, which everybody did at the time. But no doubt about it. I'm actually, with what, I'm sorry, I didn't plan this. I didn't put them up to this. I'm sorry. We're not even recording. Davey's gonna yell at me afterwards. No, it's a no problem. I can't believe what the amount of UFC in and I don't know what happened because teddy, I've known about you forever, but there was a time this before we met where you were, I feel like every big fight would get in your reactions on ESPN like within seconds and they were going viral you and Steven a were doing a lot together. Yeah, we did. And then I haven't seen as much of that light. I don't know what. I got pushed out a little bit without getting to the long haul of it. I used a word that when quite frankly, when Aaron kind of took over the box and came to them with a new idea of doing exclusive top rank stuff and then he's getting like 90 million a year from ESPN. Again, if we're going to talk, we're going to talk about going to either shop my mouth or talk to truth. And sometimes maybe I should show my mouth to be quite honest. But he came along and 20 years of me doing what I was doing and everything was good. He came along and he's got to deal with the SPN and one of the fights, one of his fights, big fight. It was in Australia. It was a huge fight. It was Maddie Pacquiao at the later part of his career. And I used the word corruption. I said, this sport is corrupt. And once I said that word, he made it his business to move me out because, you know, I was just stoned, again, I don't want no medal. I was doing I understood. I made my choice. I understood not everyone's gonna love that word. But it was a word that I thought needed to be said because for me it was the truth. It was the truth. And so I used that word and then next thing you know, you know, it was told to me that aram has his $90 million a year deal with the ESPN and he went to the powers that be at that time, a guy named John skipper was not there anymore and you know he had his own problems, whatever. And then next thing you know, he's saying, you know, I can't have him there. I can't have him saying this. I'm making money over here. I can't help him thrown around words about this sport of corruption. And next thing you know, no more teddy Atlas, at least. Yeah, that's crazy, because as much as like you, you're saying you're a dinosaur with a flip phone to whatnot, you're actually made for this your reactions are made for. Exactly. Or for this world. So I guess something had to happen because it is, I mean, that dynamic, and he's great. Like, I don't love it. Everybody at ESPN, but Stephen a also I tremendous, tremendous. Listen, light joke with me is my brother from another mother and all that stuff and you know, he's great. I love Stephen a and you know you guys had a great dynamic. We used to have a good time together. We had a good time. And his sister loved me. That was the best part. He's got a few sisters and his sister said, you better stop yelling at teddy. You better listen to teddy. You stop yelling. He said, you got my sister after I said, well, she's smart. I appreciate us. You should listen to what Stephen. So some of the best stuff I did.

With that thinking that obviously outside the box thinking and really, I wouldn't even give you credit outside the bus, but it's common sense thinking. I mean, what do people want? And if people want it, that's give it to them. Where did you come up with the pizza reviews? Because obviously they've become a big part of what you're doing pretty famous. Yeah, so I was about 7 years ago. I started them in Boston. Our company relocated in New York, but it started myself another guy, big cat, who's huge here. We're going to debate one day. If you're going to eat one food, the rest of your life, anything. You have to eat at breakfast, lunch, dinner, what would it be? He said burritos. I said pizza. He's going out breakfast burrito and stuff like that. So we did it. We did it for like a month. Every meal, everything pizza has eaten so much of it. People just be like, hey, is it any good? And my art, I'll score real quick one bite, here's the score. And just right away, it's what you said that you can tell what people want. For whatever reason, people wanted it. I think they were reacting to it. They were engaged with it. So when we moved to New York, I said, I'll try every place in Manhattan. I don't think I thought I'd be doing it for 7 years. But, you know, a lot of people, that's all I know about me. I don't know anything else. They think a lot of weeds pizza, that's all he does. Well, there's a lot more to Dave portnoy than pizza. And mozzarella. I can tell you that much. But I tell you, you got me in a little trouble, and it listen, I don't ever blame nobody else for anything. I mean, I live to be accountable for my own. I think that's part of the problem with the world. Now people are in accountable for themselves. They want to make excuses. But in all kidding, a little bit of kidding. Anyway, I got myself in trouble. You were nice enough to invite me on one of your pizza reviews and we did it in Staten Island. We did it in a place called doll and I can't tell you I can't go anywhere out to eat anywhere in a deli anywhere anymore without somebody coming up to me and saying, we saw you on a piece of it and said, well, I've been doing boxing for like, I've been in boxing 50 years. I mean, not for nothing. Everyone's got a little eagle. I said, I've been boxing. I was on ESPN 25 years. You know, I did other things, too, other than Dave port noise. Peter review. And yeah, yeah, but that was great. We saw you on the pizza review. And all my Friends saw you on the P and everyone in my school. And it was great and they loved it. And then what happens? I go out to one night and me and my wife was sitting there, guy comes steady. I talked to you. I said, yeah. He said, you know, friend of mine, and you know how to start on his day. You know, your friend of mine from yours, friend of a friend of ours. Who are your Friends? And he comes up, he says, Ted, you know, we got mutual. Friends. And friend of mine, he has this pleats of place you did a review, and you didn't give him the best score. You know? In the world, is there a chance maybe you could you could fix that? I said, fix what? You know, if you get a shot out there, maybe to do another one, you could give them a little better score. Because, you know, he makes her good pizza tight and your score was a little low and you know, he said, I can't believe it. Teddy Atlas came in my place with Dave portnoy. He gave me a bad score. So I said, oh, that's the game. Listen, new to the place, new park pizza. I did commit the people, it's a very famous spot. People didn't like my score. I'm getting death threats. They're like, you have a step foot around here. People think that I'm telling you, and Staten Island. I mean, everywhere, go now. Now I've been out since then, you know, I would say 5 more times. I've been around. Teddy. We got friends. I said, you too. I got a friend. And he just said, maybe you get a chance to rectify that score. I said, listen, buddy. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I didn't mean to hurt anyone's feelings. I knew what this. I didn't think a 6.8 was a bad score. I'm sorry. Oh, 6.8. What are you trying to bury them? Yeah, the score is very bad. I used to, when it started, I would go down a two, three, I didn't care about it. Yeah, I did. I took it serious. I took it serious. I was like trying, I'm thinking I'm saying, well, the source a little different. It's good, but it's a little tougher than that. All right, I'll give it 6 8. You know, I was trying to take a too serious. People were taking it back. It's kind of like the De Niro movie in Goodfellas. The guy says, he says, Daniel says to you insult to them a little bit. That's what I'm good. You know, Ted, you insult to them a little bit. Just a little bit. So with terrible now I get the only thing they come out, they watch the review of the standing there. It's like, but I gotta be, I gotta be honest, that's why people like them. That's what the highlight of the pizza review is. The highlight is that you're gonna give them the score they get, no matter what. I love them. And then they are. I'm like, oh, this is gonna be good. How did you get the old president Monaco? When I started barstool, I was in a debate with one of my buddies, just busting balls. And I forget what we are hearing about. But I was like, I think I.

"Japan before? What silicon is that? Yes, I was in Japan. As part of my amateur career, but it was a long time ago. It was over 20 years ago. I took part in East Asian Games there. I figured with all those fights, I don't know, correct me if I'm wrong, but close to 400, I believe. You probably good chance you wouldn't Japan. I figured that. Paparazzi is a new prophecy. Yeah, you have when will you and you set it right at striking fighting in Japan for a lot of reasons, because obviously you want to be treated right, you want to obviously know that judging is going to be competent and correct. And you want to make sure that you have time to acclimate to the time difference. When will you break camp here and how much time will you give yourself to acclimate properly over Japan? You can handle these things. What are you feeling now? These years later, about those two fights. Obviously, I had to figure one on both. But express to me and to the audience, how you look back on those fights, I know you go forward, I get it, but and why do you think the judges did not give it to you? I mean, they made it a draw the first one, which was a robbery I felt. And then a robbery, the second one. "With a guy like that. You can't make mistakes. Because they are instinctive. They are talented. They are athletic. They do have reflexes better than other people. So you can't make a mistake. You can cooperate in any way and give them that advantage that spot. That's all they need is a spot. So he's going to look at this Whitaker with his trainer. And he's going to say what I said. Okay, when you used to jab and you got in the right position, you did good. You backed them up. You didn't leave an opening where he could counter. And when you drove tight punches from the right position and you put defense after them, you did good. You did good, but when you stayed there a little too long. When you got a little greedy, that's when you gave them what he needed. That's not given to him again. That's not given to him again. That's why if I'm putting some down with my bookie, I'm still going out and sign you. I just, I think that he's, he's just more talented. He says more and that he's just supposed to have most of the fight is going to be in the striking area. I don't think at the end of the day, it was going to beat him purely striking. Here come close, but purely striking no. I think he's going to have to get him to the mat he's going to have to do some of that, get his hands on him and that kind of way. I'm looking at the added sign. I like him to win, but I don't know if I want to lay that much wood so what I'm going to do is I'm going to go with the ova. Over four and a half rounds. I'm with you. We talked about it before, but for those who didn't see it Cincinnati getting four and a half at the rams in the Super Bowl. Who do you like? I like the magic of Joe burrow and the claws of the Cincinnati Bengals to guess the rams. I am taking a four and a half listen. I will make the concession that the rams on paper are probably the better overall team, but sometimes there's magic in a year. And I take them some magic going on with this young Joe burrow, the quarterback from Ella's you when he knows how to win. And you know, he knew how to win a national title. He knew how to get his team to the Super Bowl. I have to be in a league what? Two years. This is second year, right? I'm going with the points. I'm going with the bagels. I also think go ahead. I think if I read it correctly, he could be the first quarterback to win a national title, a Heisman Trophy and a Super Bowl. I may be wrong, but I think I read that somewhere. But that'd be quite an accomplishment in two years to win a national title, a Heisman and a Super Bowl. And I think so. I think that'd be a little bit of an accomplishment just a little bit. Especially if he can win it with sensei who's been a perennial doormat, no offense, but they've been bad. And now to have drafted to get the number one pick, take your oh and for us overall pick on top of all his other accolades to get the first overall pick, get that guy in two years later in the Super Bowl. This is like story book. This is like a movie. That's legend stuff. That's legend stuff. The way legends begin from stuff like it's hard enough for anyone to root for Joe burrow given all the things that he's accomplished, by the way. Adesanya and the over the parlay, if you take them both, pays plus plus money plus one 45. Wow. Do you have to lay a lot of wood to take Izzie at minus two 75, so the plus one 45 for the Izzy and the over might sound like good value to some people. Yeah, I like it. If you like. Yeah. I like it. All right, a young Israel out of Sanya looking fit and ready from the first matchup and Whitaker coming off serious serious stomach ailment caused by a staff infection. Is coming off a win over Kelvin Gastelum for the interim champ. So the interim champ, the interim strap is without a Sonya in this fight and it's Bobby Whitaker's first fight back after I said that serious very serious stomach surgery resulting from a staph infection. And you see serious mistakes earlier already. Reach it in there by Whitaker. I know he's trying to take the legs, and that's smart. But that's not smart. When you start reaching in like that, with a great counterpoint truck, great striker, you know, a guy that can catch a coming in like Adesanya has two quickness, the snap, the power, you know, to hurt you coming in. You don't reach. That's one thing you could do all the things don't reach. That is the worst thing you can do. You should jab jab to the chest if you will to go to try to stabilize them a little bit so we don't pot shut on the outside and at the same time you don't make yourself available. But that's the thing I've noticed in right here, Ken. That was a good chip. That's the punch you should throw. Not a punch where you're looking for a power shot and you reach it. Because then you're going to put yourself right where where to go want you. Like that. Even though he didn't get caught, that's a mistake. And you know what that is? That is something that is going to the computer of either signia. He just computerized that. He just mocked that. He's reaching. Okay, now I'm going to know what to start looking for. And in the next round, you're going to see that that information is going to pay off fighters again. He didn't get caught Whitaker, but he made a terrible mistake forecasting his punches. Reaching in with his punches. And again, letting out a sign you get that information for the computer to use later. That's what I'm noticing right now. Even though you can even say Whitaker's wooden around. Doesn't matter. You win battles you lose the war. You want to win the war. And you know what he stopped doing the thing that the one thing that I noticed that would stop doing. Kick it to the Lake. Well, he tried to kick to the head there. But I'd like to see him use more leg kicks. You know, he's the man who's good with the kick in his good with the ground game. He's good on the floor on a mat, either sign used to king when it comes to striking. Take away the legs of take away the legs of out of Sonya a little bit. You know, if you are him, if you're with a car. Because don't let him be so comfortable standing and striking. You know, do a little bit, take a page out of the book of Poirier when he fought the rematch the second fight with McGregor. He knew McGregor was a great counterpuncher. A great striker. So what do you do? Took his legs away, so he couldn't set himself. Well, I'll tell you right now. You talk about my bookie. I wish there was a line whether or not it was going to do more leg kicks. And next fight in every match. Because I'm guarantee you that after watching this the way we'll watch it, he's going to do more leg kicks. Try to take that pace away from out of time. You take those wheels away. Look at the way out inside you walk so it moves around the ring. You know, uses the ring. So gracefully, so easily. And he's like Joe DiMaggio in the outfield. You know, he tracks those fly balls down like he's not even running. Like he's just. Every time I see out a son, you fight, I can't help but think of Roy Jones, just how he's slightly unconventional, but so athletic he can get away with all kinds of things that mere mortals can't get away with. Yeah, that's probably because he's saying about 5 times. I'm sure. And he does. He's probably true. Yeah, and he does remind you of Roy Jones, because one of the things he had such great athletic ability, but also great timing Roy Jones. Great confidence, calm, and great instincts, where great reflex is still. And that outer sign has all of that. And one of the great attributes of drones and is going to sound funny and I decided the same. He could make wrong right. He could do things you're not supposed to do like pull back. Like he just did there. Pull back and get away with it. Like, Ali used to do. You know, he would make long right. You're not supposed to do those things in a box in one O one textbook. Or in the MMA one on one textbook. But guys I gotta sign you. They can do it. And they can make it right for them. And he's doing it here, Paul back. See how he uses his legs. Oh, look at that counter punch. He clipped him right there, teddy with one second to go in the first round out of Sanya drops Bobby Whitaker and you can tell he's on queer street there his legs are wobbly back to the corner. He's lucky that there was no time left because that definitely would have been the end. He's in bad shape here. We didn't need and you don't need a weatherman to tell you that thunder's coming, right? You don't need a weatherman now to tell you, hey, there's a lot more rain coming a lot more lightning coming, you know, that was just a flood of the storm. "Very nervous as always like that. I'm always very nervous. You know, the people can watch me like smiling and everything, but you know that moment where you are almost there, the octagon, I feel very, very enabled. So I was like, welcome to the octagon, watching all the Mexican flags, all the energy, and I feel like, oh, my goodness. This is huge. But I remember too, when I made my first step to the octagon, my mind came back to my body and again, I was in the correct spot. You know, I mean, I feel like in the fight it was like completely I don't have excuses at that point. But it speaks, it knows because you're a fighter. You would never. You're too genuine you to honor too much of a champion. Savva make excuses. You're too much of a good person. And you are, and that's one of your strengths. Is that character? But it's the truth. But what I'm saying is that you might not even know it. And so we just talked about it now. That I think it did carry you. I'll make the excuse. And I'm not making excuses. I don't need to make an exude for Brandon Moreno. World champion. But I say it from my perspective from my almost 50 years. In a fight business, that sometimes that happens that that can get you a little out of your game plan. It can get you to be a little more aggressive than that mix, that nice mix of cerebral and aggression, where you know you're aggressive but you're also fainting a little bit of moving to the side a little bit. You're mixing that part that quite honestly made you a champion. And maybe just maybe as you think about it now and that feeling that you just brought up, that was a unique feeling, a different feeling of feeling of my goodness. Look at this. Wow. You know, maybe that did impact you. I mean, maybe something to think about something to think about because what's this business is all about? It's about control. Exactly. It's about control. And controlling yourself before you can control anybody else. And if that took you 10% out of control, that's 10% that you can't allow to take you out of control. Yeah, you know, about do you know what the obviously I don't want to use that again? Because it's something that can happen from here to all my professionals until the end. All the people there in the arena put in all the energy. And I really, this was different. Because Brandon Marino was the first Mexican born world champion getting into the ring for the first time as the world champion. It's different. It's different. Can you imagine what it would be like in Mexico? Well, the crazy so in this arena, all the people were in the arena was like almost 18,000, I think so. The arena Mexico City is like 22,000. I think so. But I believe I can like throw out all the arena in Mexico, you know? They are hungry to in a pay per view event there, because the fierce two events in Mexico was pay per views. And the next one was just finite. So they want to see big stars there. You want to stay on a scale like huge fights in Mexico? And that point is, I'm a little bit sad and I live a little bit disappointment because maybe for this, for these laws, UFC want to weigh a little bit more from Mexico City and they had to rumors about UFC going to Mexico in June. I don't know how everything changed with random I don't know with no belt. So I don't know. I need to weigh, but I'll be pushing to get my belt back and of course you will. This is don't worry. I want to talk to you about the whole Mexican thing in the pride the fans have and you because it's incredible. I mean, you're the Canelo of UFC and I'll come back to that. But the first thing I wanted to ask you about the figueretto fight is you talked about it and being a bully and I think that that's kind of how he was known. And it's not a knock against him, per se, like that's his style, right? But I noticed in the build up to this fight, especially the weigh ins and stuff. He was trying to get super aggressive with you. And I watched this with my children frequently they're like ten, 11, 11, ten 8 and 6, and I said, look at how this guy is handling himself. This guy's pushing it shoving and this kit Brandon is giving him like a heart sign. I said, you don't have to feed into this bully mentality. Were you surprised that he was trying to be so aggressive? Knowing your personality wasn't going to engage in this silliness because it's like, I just feel like you rise above this stuff and it's like they're pushing a rock up a hill trying to get you off your game because it doesn't seem to phase you. You know, you know, what's very weird that moment because for example, I remember the press conference, the guy was like, saying every single thing they arranged in the arena was very weird because he was the one seen with different crazy things and the French media was asking a lot of presidents to angina so all the press conference was very awkward. But I don't know. I don't understand why fear things he can go to my mind. I mean, he won and Congress. He won the decision, but I promise don't was because he was in my mind or something like that. I don't care. Obviously, it was weird because was my first time fighting with a guy who was like saying a lot of trash talk and going with the finger and everything like, okay, that's weird. But he never was like in my mind because oh, this brown Reynolds recipe because he went to he want to knock this guy out because he was very, very vocal in the press conference and stuff like that..

"You know, live my life is doing my thing. And then long story short one day, I got a phone call at my house and the basically like you owe the money by tomorrow 1 o'clock. I said, what? Are you gonna find out? So I literally hung up the phone. I'll tell you. Exactly what I did. I hung up picking back up and got a one way flight in Vegas. The crazy thing is it wasn't even about the 1500 if it was $25. It's still once you give it to them, you're given all the time. 100% 100%. For people who don't know back in the 8 70s and 80s in Charleston and south Boston they had to like series of unsolved murders where guys would walk into a bar full of people, shoot someone dead, the cops show up ask 200 people in the bar. What happened in every single person says they were in the bathroom. And it was like the unsolved murders like the big highest per CAPiTA murder in the country at the time. It was like all Irish gangland slayings where no one would ever say that a fear of like these people. So when they say that you owe the money, you better run pay or scram. And then you knew you couldn't call the police. You know, it was like it was the unwritten law that you couldn't call the police. And then you end up finding out later that whitey was in with the FBI and knew anybody that would call the police on him. That's right. Yeah, exactly. Pretty isn't it funny thing of how life you know has those twists and turns out fate can be decided by something like that. Who would have thought that by forcing you to go to Vegas that it would turn your life around and create what it created? And the timing, everything in life is about timing. I was eventually going to go back to Vegas, but I definitely wasn't going back to Vegas that soon. And if I didn't go back at the time that I went, you know, none of this shit would have lined up the way that it did. You're absolutely right. It's incredible. It really is. Do you ever sit back and think to yourself because I'm sure there's a part of you like everyone where you think I'm just a regular guy and things just went together and now if you like Dana White you speaking at the Republican convention, your Friends with the president, regardless of your politics, it's still unbelievable that you're on speed dial with a president of the United States. Does it ever, do you ever sit back and think to yourself like holy shit I did this and like take a minute to soak it all in and enjoy it? Yeah, you know what, every once in a while, Lorenzo fertitta and I, whether we're drinking or whatever it'll be, we'll end up calling each other and going when you start lining up everything the way that it laid out it's fascinating. Fascinating unbelievable. Yeah, super happy to see super happy to see someone from Boston. It's almost very relatable where I'm like, you're a couple I think you're a couple years older than me. I just turned 50, but I look at you and I'm like, man, that guy just took the took the opportunity and kicked out all the way to the top. It's awesome. I'm really happy for you. So I don't want to be in too much of an ass kisser, but congratulations. You know what? That's Boston, baby. That's fucking Boston. You know, you know who of all people. You know who called me and tells me shit like that all the time is bob Kraft. Bob craft. Yeah. I love the fact that you're a boss a guy and you did this and you did that. I got bob craft telling me that. I'm like, you've done pretty well yourself too. You know what I mean? Yeah, no, that's Boston, man. That's how Boston people treat Boston people. Half of them will celebrate the other half will wish death on you. Pretty standard. For that Dana since there was a certain name that was mentioned a couple minutes ago in the middle of that conversation. I obviously don't know you. Well, make you a couple times and know who you are. But you have a trait that I did have. I believe you have that I do admire. I think it's one of the most important trades actually for a person. It's the trade of loyalty. And early on with the UFC's infancy there, there wasn't a lot of places that would allow you in. Into a venue with the UFC. And quite frankly, you won't allow the commissions in New York would allow the fights. I remember when I was going on and different places. And Donald Trump allowed you into if my memory serves me right into the Taj Mahal. And you never forgot that. I mean, you obviously was very helpful to you. To bring you in, when other people were closing their doors to the UFC product. And you wound up obviously campaigning for them in 2016 and then later on when he bid again for the reelection and you've been loyal to him since. Talk about that. Yeah. So, you know, when we first bought this thing, this thing had such a bad stigma attached to it, that venues didn't even want.

And for happy new year, I'll get right to it. Well, first of all, before I get right to it, I'd like to. Thank my partner here for not using the opening that he's been using. And omitting that for this one time at least a way he usually says the voice of MMA. So he usually says teddy Atlas the voice of MMA and I'm just Danny, you'll appreciate this. You can imagine the responses we get in the comments when I go ahead and now join us always by the voice of MMA teddy as the fans, the hardcore fans, they go crazy. They can't get the they can't accept the joke. They're like, is this guy crazy? Is he a moron? And I'm like, deal with it, dude. We're taking over. Teddy's taken over. Anyway. I love it. I'm glad he admitted that. Listen, as I said, thanks for coming on. And congratulations for the last 20 years of building the brand of the UFC to level that you have. Thanks. I appreciate it, brother. Man, it's pretty extraordinary. Pretty extraordinary to be honest with you. And you've done something that quite frankly, I didn't think it was possible to do. You've surpassed boxing in the ratings and you know I get a lot of people that get kind of crazy with me. People like some of the some of the network heads like the guy over at showtime, whatever his name is. And he's a jackass. I mean, you know, they get all kinds of bent out of shape. Oh, no. It's not accurate. Is that that he shouldn't be saying that? And it is accurate, because I say it within the realm that is the proper realm. I say it on a week to week basis. You have surpassed the UFC as the past ratings for regular bugsy shows. Now, look, I'm not talking about the universe where a Canelo fight a triple G what are those fights? Or if the fight never happened, but a few he had for Joshua. That's at the universe. But as far as and you guys do pretty damn big, beautiful versus when you go on those big pay per view cards. But I'm talking about on a week to week basis. You have you have leap as boxing with the rates, listen, the people that get mad shouldn't get mad at me for tone what I see because it's a simple formula. It's not that freaking complicated. You're putting on competitive fights. Every week you know you're going to get a good competitive fight with a favor. Could easily lose. And it's on a regular basis where a guy with 5 laws of 6 laws. It's not a dead sentence. Like it is in boxing. Those guys have learned how to fight. And what it means is they can compete with anybody in a freaking world. And they do. And the problem would the problem with boxing is that these networks with their promoters, the promoters really the network is like a sugar daddy for the promoter. It's kind of I ate to talk that plane in that honest about it. And that rural about it. I'm sorry. And I know people are going to be all pissed off at me. And that's okay. Won't be the first time getting line. But they go and they sell what themselves in a way that they connect with the promoter and the promoters put on a's versus B's. The house fighter would the opponent. And most of the time you know how that's going to end. Not only the house fight is going to win, but it's not going to be competitive. And people get tired of that. People don't want to go to a movie when they know what the end is going to be before the movie starts. So they get tired of it. And what do they do? They go to the UFC. So I just wanted, I was just wondering if you agree with that and what your thoughts were. Yeah, you're a 100% right. And listen, at the end of the day, you and I both love the sport of boxing. But you and I are both brutally honest about all the problems with the sport of boxing. And everything that you're saying is reality and these guys don't want to hear reality. The truth of the matter is we have the largest pay per view provider on earth. And when you talk about showtime, showtime is a very, very small universe. You know what I mean? Those guys, showtime, and all these cord cutters now, not a lot of people have showtime. So when these flights happen, they're on a lot of people that are watching them. I'm on ESPN. You know? And there's a big difference. And you're absolutely right. Every week we put on fights with the best versus the best in the world. And many times, the massive underdogs in this sport win, which means a Pena. Fun. Exciting. You know, you get these holy shit moments. And more importantly, it makes it very fun to bet on too. So I agree with everything you're saying without sounding like we're smashing the sport of boxing. We all love it. David, bugs in my life. I've been in almost, you know, sometimes I hesitate to say it, but almost 50 years of my life. I don't know what hesitate because I'm embarrassed by it. It's been good to my family. It's been good to me. I love boxing. It's my life. But you have to, you have to tell the truth. And you know what? All these problems, teddy are why we've been able to overcome boxing and beatboxing. I saw this shit over 20 years ago. I saw all the problems. And I wanted to change, you know, everything that I thought they were doing wrong in boxing with the way that we ran the UFC. You know, for the years that I had the platform and ESPN, I'm not putting a metal on myself. I got paid to do a job. But at the end of the day, I had a choice to make. Do the job get my paycheck. Get the figure out of there. Or, you know, once in a while, try to help to support it because you're in that position where you can do it. A little bit, a little bit, no hero stuff over here. But I went to Congress and I interviewed, I went to Senate and Congress I interviewed senator McCain to try to get a national commission. Where all the other majors have. To get some accountability with these promoters. To be able to just make things a little better for the fighters and for the fans where you wouldn't just have one or two power brokers in a position where now it's probably three or four. But in a position where not really caring about the sport, they only came about their little piece of territory. Not to support all. Now you listen, you're in an advantageous position. You know, I've called you a dictator before. Not a bad dictator. You know, not a guy that chops heads off or anything like that. But sometimes we need a dictator. Not literally probably not. But I get it. I get it. But at the end of the day, you know, you could call parents dictators. If they're a good parent, at a certain point, they're going to be a dictator. I mean, there's got to be somebody who's in charge. And what you do is you do it obviously for yourself, but you do it for the benefit of the sport. And everyone benefits. You want the brand to that sport to be the best again. And it has become the best because you're formula because your philosophy. Because you're in charge, because you say, hey, listen. These are the fights we'll put on. We're not putting fights on that really quite frankly. Shouldn't even be sanctioned because you get those fights too often in boxing. And because of that the brand has grown. And there's so many situations in boxing where azar a national commission would be needed to just put the sport on attract that it really belongs if it's going to be the greatest sport, which I think is the greatest sport.

And I will echo a teddy set about the fans in that. When I get messages from you guys, honestly, I tell them my wife laughs all the time 'cause I'm like, oh, I'm so emotional reading this. Listen how kind this person is to me. They don't even know me. They don't know what a difference these things make. The nice comments, not so much, but I will say that some of the fans are not nice. It means a lot and it never ever. We never take it for granted. I never read comments and think like, I can't be bothered to reply and so thank you to everyone. I hope you guys do have a great Thanksgiving and we appreciate you like teddy said. And one of these days, I promise you, we're gonna do a live event, and we're gonna get to meet a lot of you guys. Maybe they're in Vegas or New York and we'll do it up right now. You know what I just found out? I just found out that I meant to tell you and rob. So now I don't have to send you a text. I can't wait. I'm so nervous though I don't. There's a part of me that is like I'm fighting myself, I'm so nervous when I'm like, oh my God, how many weeks left? I'm already getting butterflies. I want, obviously, Dustin pores, our friend. And you know, I don't have to tell you. You know when you have a friend fighting, it's like, yeah, it's exciting, but it's hopefully gets the win. And then you can really celebrate and feel the wave of anxiety lifted from your shoulders. But yeah, that's that's gonna be a good one. You know what I said to him? He told me about this on a great Ariel helwani show. He talked about he said, you know, the Hawaii brought up how he's Friends with you and me and how he comes on the show and blah, blah, blah, and he's talking about and he goes, you know, yeah, I just got a text from teddy the other day in training camp. And this was a while ago because the other day in real time now is whatever month ago whatever it was. And he sent me a short and sweet text and he said to me, one more mountain to climb. To ensure a view for a lifetime. Yep. And he said, that's just, you know, that's what it is, because the view for a lifetime is having a world title. And of course, you've had an internal title. He's beaten a great, he's beaten a great, famous Conor McGregor twice, but now there's one thing left to have a world title. And as much as we respect all of her, don't get us wrong, we do. We know of course. That's why we're nervous. We don't have that guy. How dangerous that guy is? And to get the title, the title that he's been able to so long Poirier as we say, he's going to really have to earn it from this guy. We believe you will. But we also know that it will be. It won't be any easy one. No layups in the UFC, and it's not surprising to me that the team at the UFC. Those guys are first class about everything. The way they treat us, I mean, even the head of PR there is invited me out to the apex when I'm gonna be out there for some of these smaller fights, which is forever grateful, but I'm not surprised that Dana and the team over they want you at the events. I don't know how much I'm twisting it takes for them to get the powers that be over ESPN to greenlight it, but I'm sure if it was up to the UFC, they'd have you there at every event as they should, being the voice of MMA. But I get out there. The first thing I hear, the, you know, you think it's either going to be boxing, right? Or again, you don't have to be the major question. It's got to be the boxing or UFC MMA stuff I hear. Nope. Nope, tell Ken, good luck in the next maritime. And tell rob. Okay. All right. That's fun. Same thing happened to me at the New York marathon every single cop at the start line. Tell teddy, we said hello. Tell teddy. I'm like, all right, guys, let me focus on this race. "He was in the fight early Porter, and again, taking nothing away from his effort. Brilliant have it. But he was in it because he was being controlled. He was being impatient. He was it was being enough shown enough caution to not completely make himself available to those abilities to count upon state Crawford as that he was going. He was only given him spots, but you kind of knew that it was an effort on his part to stay contained the part of port, of course, to stay contained to stay controlled to stay within himself. To not get too far out there and he was it was a battle to do that. It was, and so that's what I mean. I didn't think he was so much winning as that he was finding a way to exist. He was finding a way to survive without running. He was doing what he had to do, but at the end it wasn't going to be enough. It wasn't going to be enough to just try to find a way not to have to have a trapped on you. You know, you have to find a way to be the hammer, and he was never going to be the hammer. I'm sorry if I disappoint people put again. I try to lay it all out there from what I think as my experience of being in his business to the point of almost 50 years where I it was just a matter of time before the spider lord the beetle into the web and at the end of the day you just ain't win it. The Beatles now win it. You know, he's been a little careful where he walks. He's been a little thoughtful about what that sticky stuff up there looks. What it might be, what the hell is that? What is that stuff there? You know, he's been a little careful with, but sooner or later, despite his getting them in a freaking web. And despite a was a guy named Crawford and, you know, he if he has to fight with you in the trenches, have freaking fight with you in the trenches. But his style is to keep this a little bit and make you pay when he's got a guy like Porter, who at the end of day is one dimensional. He's gonna get to you. I mean, at the end of the day, that's what he's got to do. What I'm saying is, how am I gonna think a guy really winning? How am I gonna take a guy really got a chance to win a fight? At the end of the day, 12 rounds is not 6. It's not 7. It's not 5. So how am I gonna think that a guy has a chance to win when he has only chances attached to being an aggressive? Attached to going forward. Attached to our working a guy. That I know that to go forward. He's got to go through bad neighborhood and there's a guy ready to mug them to go through that neighborhood. How could I think? In my mind, in a way that teddy Atlas looks at things. That's all I could be responsible for. Me. How can I think that that guy could win? I never taught. If I'm commentating on a fight, I'm sorry. Something wouldn't like, but I say, I can't see how he's going to win because he's got to go through that neighborhood before the night ends. And as a guy named Terence Crawford, who's gonna mug and he's waiting to mug him. You know, and he's a good guy, terror so I'm not trying to say that he's a bad guy. He's looking among them. He's looking to mug them in a place you're allowed to mug somebody, okay? Inside a boxing ring. And that's what happened. And that's what was always going to happen to me. And when the fight was made, and so and I always talk about geography the geography was was obvious. It was the outside that had to be owned and controlled by Crawford. And the inside that had to be gotten to. And on the controlled bipolar and one of the tweets I put out there early on to rob was his aggression against counterpunching. You're getting to see, you don't, you're really getting to see a class on that. You know, when you take a class you take a video of you pay money to get a video of, you know, how do you make money, you know, in the financial world, or how to conquer blackjack? Or how to how to play Wall Street, you know, or how to be a marathon runner by can write out and rob more, all right? That's coming soon. That's coming to your home soon. I know it. So this was aggression versus catapulting. Who wins? How does it play out? This was that. This was that one O one. It was a video of that. And in this case, there was only going to be one winner counter punching, because he's that good at it. And as mechanical flaws and porters aggression and aggression is more risky. It's fun to watch. It's lovely to watch as my great brothers and sisters across upon would say, you know? It's lovely. To watch. But it's a little more risky. It's a little more whisky. And on top of that, this there was flaws, mechanical flaws in short, not as hot. That in his will not in, you know, what he wanted to do, but in a way he did it. There were mechanical problems. He reaches. He leans forward. I'll tell you another thing that hurt him in a fight. He didn't use his job enough. When you come in aggressively use your jab, put bugs on the windshield like I used to always say on ESPN then I say in that over there now are they. I think they left out one alone. Of course they are. I didn't even know you want to call them fights here anymore. I thought I heard your words almost every other week on ESPN. That's disappointing sometimes, but I mean, listen, it's okay, at least saying the right things. But they don't have to take my things. They know the right thing. To me, you get just as much water what they do. They don't have to. To me, you get just as much credit when you footnote the person who came up with the saying because it's very hard at this stage of the game to come up with your own analogies in general, but if you notice, if you can attribute an analogy directly to one of your peers and predecessors, you get just as much credit for saying, hey, as the great teddy Atlas would say, put bugs on the windshield. Let some air out of the tires. Well, when you don't, it's too close. But you know, I'm not. It does get a tight. You can bother someone human beings who are not perfect. We get bothers sometimes, but such things. But in the fight, one of the things besides leaning forward that heard him and made him prone to leaning forward was when Porter did use a job, because when you press, if you least press behind the jab, you keep the counter puncher occupied. You keep them stymied. You keep his punches and his hands in his pocket so to speak. You keep them from getting off so easily. You know, you're blind them a little. And he didn't use a job. And then when you start leaning and leading, I would right hands and big punches power punches. Well, then you make yourself more available and cooperative to account upon you because now there's space. Space the mes, and space to get counted. So those are some of the things for the analysis of this fight to break down at this fight that took place. And then, of course, on the winning side of Crawford, it was, again, as IQ, his understanding of what he needed to be. That he didn't lose faith in the approach..

"Congratulations on the big teddy Atlas, doctor Atlas foundation dinner on Thursday last week in New York. Yeah, we were blessed. Thank you, successful. I mean, everybody nowadays is concerned in the New York area, I guess in all areas, really, but concerned about downsizing their events to charitable events even canceling some of them going virtual. I felt we needed to get off the floor after having to go virtual as she is, so to speak, and we needed to get out there and do what we do to raise money to help people. And so we normally put it this way. We had to everybody was talking about all the horror stories of dealing with it right now and we had to add like four tables. We were sowed out beyond sought out as I said we had to make more room. And you guys flew in, and I appreciate you guys very much. Showing why I do the podcast with you guys. You know, it's not just because of your efficiency in television work and because the words that come out of your mouth, but it's because of a club of your heart and what's in your heart. So I appreciate you guys. I appreciate everybody that came out and made it beyond successful. I appreciate all the celebrities Tracy Morgan. The great event the Holyfield, the great John stalks the great area of Hawaii. The second biggest voice in MMA Ariel helwani behind teddy Atlas. A lot of these. We had the voice. We had some good we had some good laughs about that. He said he enjoyed when I call you the voice of the voice of MMA. Yeah, yeah. He's a good guy. He's a great guy. He's he is the master out there, the voice is to some really good voices, you know, out there, of course, with MMA, but he's right up there at the top of the list, then he doesn't absolute gentleman. Tremendous respect he has tremendous knowledge and appreciation of the MMA sport that he has and he, you know, he's the man. So you guys are going to it was I'm glad you were there and I'm glad you were able to join the night as well as support the night. And I appreciate everybody. I'd say thank you to everybody. There was a recording was there. There was just so many so many people that as difficult as the environment and at times are, they found a way to be there. They got all of them at the end of my art and are there for one one collective reason to help people and to fight for people that can't fight for themselves. And will be able to now continue doing that for artists here and beyond. Because of that night because of the people's charity and does goodness of their their giving. So it reminds us, you know, I didn't know when I first started to dinner 25 years ago for the charity. I didn't know that it was I really didn't. I didn't consciously really put a lot of thought into it being a week before Thanksgiving. The Thursday before Thanksgiving. And now it's time goes on everyone knows that it is. And it becomes more clearer. It's just a reminder to me. To all of us, what were thankful for and how thankful we should be an appreciative we should be. When we are reminded right in the face of the problems that others have, the big problems and the little ones like they can't sit down with a Turkey dinner with their family that we just, I don't want to say we take for granted, but we just know we're going to do it. And so I guess, I guess there's a purpose for it falling on that day. And, you know, the Saturday after the Saturday after the dinner, we did what we always do. We had that at a thousand turkeys and all the trimmings, the people that otherwise wouldn't have it traditional Thanksgiving dinner. And I'll leave it with this. People say, you know, you're telling the purpose to it is so people don't go hungry. Obviously that's part of it, but I've got to be honest. I was thinking again, Darcy is all these people coming in to get their turkeys and all the trimmings. And as much as is to satisfy obviously a human need D as that you can eat anything. But the reason that this is important is that everybody feels equal. Everybody feels that they matter. Everybody's able to sit down and have a Turkey dinner with their family and feel the dignity that that brings somebody. That they could have everybody together, no different than anyone else. No matter what they have and they don't have on that day. They can sit with their family across the table, and enjoy a traditional dinner. And feel the way everyone should feel. On a special day, that dead together. Anyway, thank you, everybody. There's part of that. Let's move forward with this. The show and thank you guys for always being here on the show. Adam colonoscopy gets a rematch against robert helenians which was a bit of an upset when robert beat him. The first time. I at least i was surprised crazy. How crazy is that. That whole lenny. Who still big dog. A pretty sizable dog shows you. That sometimes these guys like when my heavenly eileen for sonny liston and lists seven seventy one favorite ally you know obviously stops them and then the rematch listens to favorite store and i mean it happens. It happens but people gave no credit lettuce and look at what he show themselves to be. He's shown themselves to be just a tough guy that was given really you know was given opponents that will favorable to build a record or gambian very nice. It was given those kind of poets. I mean i know that he beat he. Beat harry all was forty four years old. But that's and. Chris gave a tremendous and kudos to chris. What a warrior he gave a tremendous effort to ruiz against ruis but still Ariola had been through a lot of losses a tough times you know. Obviously he's past his best so he beats ariola slugfest and and then he gets he gets stopped by eleni is and then they go and they make karakia favorite again. We're dead not seeing what kentucky is not. So you thought i was gonna say kentucky is no. They're not seeing what he's not. He's not a fight with would probabl- properly defined skills with good technique. He's he's like wilder. That's i mean really. We speak the truth here. It's a shame what. I look at my. They sit in the middle of they will say something that they think is gonna upset somebody. Why the not that should job. But it is case they will right they will right now he was he was trying to get he was trying to get out and and he was one of two things but he's trying to get out but the other thing is as trying to obviously hurt the guy. Slow the guy down from doing what he's don't told me you see. Only have so many punches in them that they could take Is you know. It's like a rock. You hit a rocky hit a rock. It doesn't go anywhere. You hit the rocket the rock and and then maybe on your five hundred fifty thousand strike on iraq a piece chips off and that's what that's what. The endurance leveled the capacity of hits. The rock had on it. You don't know what that number is on. Human being. Everyone is different and that number is a little different for with people like george foreman and maybe people even maybe we'll find out down the road that's when you find out maybe even people like water. I am i really from my heart. Congratulations you made us proud. You made me proud with your effort. Tremendous time to twenty nine. I believe i was your time to twenty nine tremendous. I mean that's that's pretty incredible. And i would like i. I hope that the fans over they gave you the love that i asked him to give you because you would have asked for it but i i know you become an internet sensation. Dulling out there that people send their love out that way. But i'd like you to just give us a quick synopsis of what what that experience was like. Can you know going going across the pond racing and such a significant race with so many runners. Just give us quick walkthrough please. Yeah i always great to see so many of the fans as i was in the staging area. Now it's probably forty thousand people at this race and i was in one of four staging areas and i went to warm up and as soon as i walked out of the area to get onto a sidestreet by myself where i could just run up and down for a couple of miles to loosen up. One of our fans was there and just called ultimate. Hey ken and i was like yeah. I don't know anyone in london. I don't think that's here. And he's like oh. It's me luther. In a guy had sent me some messages on on instagram and it was just nice guy was like man. I can't believe you here. And i was like i can't believe someone recognizes me. Thank you you made my day so it was nice to see all the fans. I bought a lot of nice messages so regarding the race. Yep i lost by just under a minute. Just man. In hindsight i would of we kinda got separated from some of the other guys in the race. I thought we were all going to start in the same area and this is on me. I didn't realize some people would start in a diff- there were three distinct. Stop area so i took off. I was leading our start area at three miles around three and a half miles. I think it all merges together into one. I was leading by a lot. I couldn't see the people behind me. It was just me and the motorcycles. Unbeknownst to me there was another runner up the road. Just about fifty seconds ahead of me. I didn't realize it. So i ran slightly defensively in hindsight it had i known he'd been up there. I would've liked to have known that. So i could try to use a little bit different tactics but it's on me. I should have known that there might be a possibility that someone else was up the road. Nevertheless i am. I did the best. I could iran to just under two thirty and that guy the other guy ran two twenty nine four and yeah when i finished. I thought i won. I didn't and i'm pretty disappointed. It's a long way to go. You know i appreciate everyone. Second place is is is honorable. But i went there specifically to win. I didn't win and you know. I'm a little bummed out but that's life and if and if if you knew you couldn't fail at doing these things then i probably wouldn't have gone and tried to do it because this is what testing yourself is all about. I'm too old to get punched in the face at this stage of the game. Although maybe with some of these cards i can get back in there. But you know it was It's something that keeps me. Motivated gets me out of bed in the morning and it's something that no one else has any influence over. Just me and i appreciate everyone's kind words. I thank you and rob for all the messages of support it was. It was a great experience. And i wish the result was slightly different. But all i can do is keep it moving. I know our family of of fans supported. You're on the internet through the internet. I am grateful for that. I thank them for that. Not even show where we begin with this if you have a problem with some of the substances on the list that time to get those substances removed as before you're fighter test positive for them not after the fact and then allow them to fight anyway. Oscar valdez convicted of having some kind of stimulant of banned stimulant in his system.
