"And 94 W Spike, asking in studio with us a 12 30 looking for talking to spike about six years. Hoops and And just, you know, sports in general on the way back, and it is coming back in. Less than three weeks we're gonna have if we're going to a Phillies game in 18 days, we're gonna have the sixties and flyers right after that as well. Today's Twitter poll question today is brought to us by the casino with Delaware Park, which is open with limited hours for slot machine game and only visit Delaware park dot com For details. Lottery agent for the Delaware Lottery, You must be 21 of play today's question. Will this be as you projected forward? Will this be a legitimate were illegitimate? Baseball season. You can vote at sports radio w P on Twitter a legitimate be illegitimate. Now, I would say the phone lines have been pretty mixed so far today, John, I know only split totally split, and I know you believe that this is Going to be an illegitimate baseball season. For those just tuning in. Perhaps your reasoning for why you think it falls into the illegitimate categories. What biggest reason is 60 games 60 games, compared to 162 games? We're talking about 37% of a normal season. If this or the NFL they'd be playing six games less than six games. Prior to the play offs. That doesn't give you an accurate picture of which team is best, which teams are best, which teams are most deserving of a playoff run. I do like that. They're doing the playoff run. But the teams who will be there will not be the right teams in most cases, not to mention the fact that the players who are playing this season could be few and far between The Stars may or may not be part of these teams and and one game counting for so muchmore because the season is truncated. You miss a few stars. It changes your whole outlook. I can't believe that you a traditionalist feels like this is a season like any other. Well, not without an ass, not saying it's like any other. It is asterisk. It is not right. It is a food Gezi season. That's not say I'm not thrilled way have base I know. Look, here's the thing and again at two on 559 to 94 94. Everyone's got a chance to weigh in here as a fan of sports is a fan of baseball. Whether you see this as a legitimate or illegitimate season. Here's why I say it. Ah, and I feel really pretty confident about this being a legitimate baseball season. First off, we're still going to judge players. Now, if someone chooses not to play, I'm not goingto. Have anything critical to say that everyone can make that choice but the players to play two months? I mean, heck, we judge on a week or two. I mean, if Bryce Harper Is hitting. You know if he's out of the gate and three for 30 we're going to judge him, and we're going to be aggravated about that. And on the flip side, if he's out of the gate, you know, 12 for 30 we're going to praise him. We will arrive at judgments based on good or bad on Harper on Girardi on who should play, you know, cigar or bone? I mean, like we're going to judge the manager Girardi, just like we would have judged Kappler. I mean from afar. We're still going to judge Kappler because he was here and now he's down San Fran. I mean, we will judge Things to me. That's number one. That's where it feels Normal. Second thing is I mean, and I made this point earlier. When, when? When people reference old school baseball and talk about years, like 43 in 1944 1945 during World War two. No one ever, says You know what, 1943 was an illegitimate season. Now look, Joe DiMaggio wasn't 154. I understand that. But the two best players in baseball, DiMaggio and Ted Williams did not play. I mean, they didn't play that this was rue players. You're talking about what it was, but it was so many more players were talking about. I understand it. But it was many, many more than two players. I'm just giving you the two most famous players. From that time who by the way and 41 Ted hits over 400. Jodie has this 56 game hitting streak in 41. So this happens right after that, and you lose the two biggest stars in the sport, you still have a season. You still have a champion. There's still in the record book. No one says whoever won 43 or 40 14 counts where it wasn't legitimate. It's just It's just it is what it is Joey. It's 60 games. I understand it's 60 games. That was 154 games. I don't care who was playing and who wasn't playing. You can. Yeah, I just can't get past 60. Here's what I come back 7% of the season and again. I'm curious where everyone's at it to 1559 to 94 94. This is probably more than anything else. Where I come back to the most. The world Siri's winner. Whomever that will be. Whatever team that ISS the world Siri's winner will earn it. They will play good enough during the regular season to make the postseason, Maybe at 33 27 maybe 8 35 and 25. I don't know what their records going today, but they will earn a spot in the postseason. They will then play excellent in the post season when they face the better teams from this season granite You might face a lesser than normal playoff team because someone snuck in there with only two months of baseball, But you will see excellence in the postseason where that team will go through a gauntlet of three or four rounds. They will. I guarantee you have fought through their own adversity, which will include injuries, which may include opt outs, which may include guys with Corona virus that has to sit out some portions of the season. I mean, they will. Whoever that team is will earn. The championship. It is still an athletic competition. There's nothing about Corona virus that changes whether it is or is not an athletic competition. It is. It's an athletic competition is a different Yes, it's different. I don't think it's illegitimate and athletic competition. It is the pre season in the NFL. Those are athletic competitions, but but you're not the same when you're not trying to win Ray, But you're but you're not trying to win those games. But there it's a food Gezi game. It is You're intentionally not running your best player. You're intentionally not using your best engine. It is. It is a far cry from what is expected it. Well, you're saying that we can't count the records that are aren't accumulate. I said that about batting average and iara. Yes. Look, we'll see where everyone's at 8 to 155 1994 94. I mean, think about it. As a Phillies fan is a baseball fan as a sports fan this baseball season. Do you see it as legitimate were illegitimate. Let's go to the phones to 155929494 against my guess, and coming up in a few minutes phone lines open for you, Brian and had in township. What's up, Brian? Saying second time. Oh, Khan. Hey, guys. Hi, Brian. Thanks. Thank you, sir. Um, I'm definitely on your side of insurrection. There's nobody that this it is the total for DC Seize it when your when you put it in perspective like that, And you said, it's only about 37% of the 7%. You know you can't You can't say that. This is a legit And legitimacy. You just can't write, and I'm thrilled to watch it, but so much. Yeah, it's it's It's nothing close. Toso. It's supposed to be Brian. Let me just understand. I want to try to drill down here on what you are illegitimate means. What does it mean? Doesn't mean it doesn't count. Does it mean that you care like what does it mean? Historically speaking, It's what Are we goingto gonna have like a by young award winners? I would assume we have not heard that We're not having them. I would assume that we will have him. Okay, if we are going to happen, That's what makes this whole thing. Just a big force. You can't have him here with with 37% of the season being clearly you can't It's just it's.

Can All Plants Be Preserved in Seed Banks?

"Today's episode is brought to you by Oregon. You know, when something goes wrong at home, and you just freak out. Protect your time and your temper visit organ dot com to say fifty dollars on your first mosquito service with the promo code brain. Organ home is where the bugs aren't. Welcome to brain stuff. Production of iheartradio. Hey, brain stuff, Lauren vocal bomb here. If you've ever heard of a seed Bank, the basic idea is this when the apocalypse is over and the forests are nothing, but smoking ruins and the fields Barron of grain fear. Not we can rebut the world thanks to our bench seeds stored in bunkers strategically located from here to eternity. These fall barred international seed vault in Norway, for instance, currently holds more than eight hundred eighty thousand seeds and has the capacity to hold up to two point five billion. Seeds are pretty amazing forms of reproduction. All you need to do is dry them out and freeze them solid and they can last for years. It's a comforting thought and ace up civilization sleeve, and the seemingly less and less unlikely scenario that we self destruct the UN's global strategy for plant conservation plans to Bank seventy five percent of all plant species by twenty twenty but hold that. Arguably comforting thought according to a study from researchers at the Royal Botanic Gardens Q, there's a significant catch they discovered that whole host of plant seeds just can't be banked, including Cotto ca cow and mango their findings which were published in November twenty eighteen issue of the journal nature plants detail, how a full thirty three percent of tree species alone are on this list, including oak and chestnut. Trees were still thirty six percent of our critically endangered species are also on bankable, and that's not even counting twenty seven percents of the regular old endangered plants or thirty five percent of the vulnerable ones. So why can't these seeds be banked apparently, not Alcides like the drying out process and for this? They're labeled recalcitrant seeds, which seems a little unfair calling. Seed stubborn just because it can't tolerate dehydration as a bit rich coming from species that can barely last two days without water. Luckily, there's a way out of this jam and it involves liquid nitrogen, which is always fun. Yes. To make sure we've got all our seeds safely tucked away in indefinite storage. We have to resort to cryopreservation dislike Ted Williams and all the other immortals being kept on ice. All one has to do is dissect the seed, priorites embryo and plunged into smoking cold nitrogen instead of storing seeds at conventional negative twenty degrees celsius that's negative for degrees Fahrenheit, going cry. Oh will keep these finicky seeds in suspended animation at a subglacial temperature of negative one hundred ninety six degrees celsius that's negative three hundred and twenty degrees Fahrenheit. Some researchers advocate cryopreservation for all seeds, even the cooperative ones because they'll last longer. Of course, a full out. Apocalypse isn't the only reason for banking seeds climate change habitat loss and the growing threat of plant pathogens are already threatening bio-diversity. So the time to preserve seeds is now though taking steps to protect habitats and slow climate change would certainly be good as well. Mike Trout finalizing 12-year, $430 million extension with Angels

"Now as far as trout goes with this deal. This is a no brainer for the angels. Because the angels are about to sign a three billion dollar television contract. They had the money, and I understand the long contracts and baseball usually don't work, but what choice. Do they have Mike trout is that good? You look at his numbers and his career. They are historic and Mike trout, you could honestly argue if you look at his wins above replacement, which is the highest ever in baseball among any active player. You can make a case that might try to kind of underpaid as crazy as that sounds Mike shroud is going to make an average annual value of about thirty six million dollars per year. So not only does he top the largest contract in sports history with the four hundred thirty million, but he also breaks the average annual valued record, which is currently Zach ranked you with the Diamondbacks. He's making thirty four point four million child about thirty six million per year. The contract. We mentioned Bryce Harper last hour trout's deal is more than thirty percent larger than the three hundred thirty million dollar deal that Bryce Harper signed with the Phillies on March second and it best boxers can no Alvarez's deal with zone. That's that new digital streaming service for boxing it beats dissolves deal with Canelo. Alvarez by more than sixty five million dollars. Mike trout is just twenty-seven. He's just entering the private of his career. And we already know. Mike trout is the best player in the game. There's a chance he's going to get even better. And pass it. I'm reading his story now on ESPN dot com. He talks about how trout is already arguably put together the greatest star. Career in the history of baseball. Think about that Babe Ruth Lou Gehrig, Jeremiah GIO, Ted Williams, Willie Mays Mickey Mantle. No player in history has put up more wins above replacement that new stat war that very analytical that people use to compare players do different hours. No player in history has put up more wins above replacement there age twenty six and then trout, sixty four point three. And you know, I've seen a lot of people talk about this contract. Disabled angels. Don't exactly have a great history long-term deals. Remember, they gave pool holes that ten year two hundred forty million dollar deal. Josh Hamilton got five years one hundred twenty five million. Both of those contracts are considered albatross. And rightfully so the difference with trout easy, significantly younger than those guys were when they sign those deals. And the reality is for the angels. The possibility of losing trout is too daunting for them. Right. He's the face of baseball. He's the best player in the game. He's one of the best players ever. How do you not give this guy everything because you need them? And Mike trout, his personality it fits the city of LA it fits Anaheim. You know, he's not on the dodgers. He's not Kershaw. He's not in the media and being covered nonstop like he would have been if he signed with the Phillies that say teamed up with price Harper where he's from. Mike trousers kinda even kill the does this thing and guy's phenomenal. And I think that fits the angels. Really? Well, the other thing is this. The angels are in a position now with that new TV contract where signing trout long-term should not prohibit them from still putting a winning team around. You saw what they did with Shohei Ohtani. They still have players on that team. That are good. Art. Marino has shown the ability to spent three billion dollar TV deal when that kicks in. That is when the angels could start trying to put together a winning team. That is when it all unfold. For my trap because it will be a damn shame. It might trap. Does not get the opportunity. To play in the postseason over the next twelve years. She's been once they got swept in three games that was it. That was by traps postseason, Ron. Two twenty twelve. Has not been back since. So Mike trout as great as he is for him to kinda get the the national spotlight that he deserves. He has to get to the postseason. But baseball's the ultimate team sport. Good as trout is he single handedly. Cannot take you to the playoffs. Aron Texas was winning MVP's. Rangers were finishing in last place. So the angels made the commitment to trout trout signed the deal. And now the commitment needs to be made for the angels to put some pitching around trout for the angels to put a winning team. But as far as this deal this deal to me for trout wasn't oh brainer. He's the best player in the sport. For the next two years. The rumors of him signing in Philly where he's from would have been amped up. And then something that would have been talked about nonstop now. Mike trout us four hundred thirty million dollars. They rip up the final two years of his deal. Give them twelve New Year's

Like, you don't tell we know you know, what I mean, we're on Newbury street. Yeah. And and your name is sully. I get it. You don't need the Red Sox hat, but all my brothers wear Red Sox caps all the time. And it's like they should just put them on. Squirrels in Boston. It's in a gang. Yeah. Take our gang but sent back for the two World Series games. And it's just it was the best of Boston. It was just. Yeah. People shown up super early. Everyone's got drinks. And right. I was sitting near the between the third base and left failed were on the wall in the you know, they have the outfield on world Syria. So poor guys like ten. Feet away. And you know, the Boston people they gotta start talking to them is a, hey, blue, you know, for nine innings the poor guys. Like God, damn it. I that's what he's yours straw. That's what he hears in his sleep is. So I could only go to one World Series game. Yeah. 'cause I was I've been working so much. But there was one game. And traveling and was one game. Oh, so in L A, and I didn't know is going to be a game five. What's what's going to happen turns out game five? So I take my son we go there. And we're both wearing Red Sox. Hats and jackets of got this great jacket. I got a longtime ago. That's like a vintage Ted Williams era who on ever Ted Williams story after this own until you, but Ted Williams era baseball the recreation of that Jack. Yeah. So i'm. Watching the game with my son. And then we get to the last two innings, and it becomes clear that the dodgers are gonna lose them. We're in Dodger Stadium. I was in there too. The Red Sox fan started moving up. I was one of them. Yeah. We had really good seats. And then we were like, screw it. Yeah. I said come with me. Boy, this is how it's done has all the other fans left. Yeah. And everyone they were like gonna in the Red Sox fans. Let me take it was and it was near back behind home plate for the last inning. But. This is the difference between L A and Boston. There's a lot of differences. But I'm there and Dodger's fan start to realize it's not going to happen for them. So they stand up they knees people with like their faces painted blue. Yeah. And they have dodgers shirt. Everything the hat everything. They stand up they turn. They saw me and recognized me. And they saw my Red Sox. Stephanie say. Well, Conan it's not gonna work out for us this year, but you guys had the better team, graduations. And then they shook my hand. And then they'd be like better luck next year. As far as authentic city along. This green diamonds sports, which was Ted Williams. Sons company. However, the Ted Williams and also Joe DiMaggio. The past five years has really decreased immensely so a baseball bat even with that great CO away from upper deck. You're only looking at maybe six hundred bucks box five years ago. It was the over a thousand bucks why why have those autographs decreased? Well, I think Diane. Everybody's got him. Yeah. Everybody's dying. Don't know, you know, the younger people don't know where they were. But the thing is though Mickey Mantle has really decreased like Ted Williams and Joe DiMaggio. I think that there were some big let's say Ted Williams collectors, and they have died or also some of the collectors change interest. So maybe they're buying all this, Ted Williams. Joe dimaggio. Then all of a sudden, they kind of get tired, and they changes something else. Maybe they want to buy. I don't know Roger. So all right, Joe decreased in value a little bit. It was worth more. "Follow him on Twitter at Bruce underscore Jenkins. Bruce, how're you doing today, sir? Good. Everything is great. Hey to start this conversation off with with bomber. But angering wall passed away yesterday. And and you know, everybody's memories of him. And what he meant to him was was pretty cool here NAT and we had a chance to talk to Cuco yesterday. And and it was cool. It was awesome. You've been around this game for a long time. And I'm sure the person you knew and for sure when you heard you passed away yesterday, it was it was a bummer. Yeah. It was. And you know, he was just one of those rare individuals who was a total professional completely self effacing. But the ultimate y'all metro in his job with just a fabulous sense of humor. You know, he he had his he would always say you're gonna have a bad game. And amazingly ride all the teams he covered only one of them went to the postseason that was the eighty nine giant. He's he happened to miss eighty seven working the Yankees. But he saw a lot of bad baseball. But he said there's no excuse for a bad broadcast. And he would he would entertain you not in a not in a way with just to put the team down wicked vicious stuff. But just, you know, tasty funny stuff and that related to the game or maybe he just drift off on a little bit of a tangent to keep things going, and he was he was one of a kind and really it's it's a big loss. If you're gonna listen to bad baseball, the person who's describing to you best be entertaining. And. You have to do that. Bruce. I was talking. I was talking about sitting in the booth. Thanks a lot. I started at sports phone sixty eight at night because he was doing the games solo Lee Jones, always said, you know, sit in the other chair Henkel kind of have someone conversed with I didn't talk on the air, but he had an audience of one there. So he could see what he was saying was funny if I was laughing or whatever, but I loved whatever book he was reading would come across in the broadcast. He gave me Atlanta's book about Ted Williams called the hitter. And I learned so much about Ted Williams. And and you know, he got closer to the end season. They were talking about the MVP race. And it went to hey the year DiMaggio had fifty six game hitting streak. Ted Williams hit four hundred they voted to Maggio MVP because they were writers that left Williams out of their top ten because they hated the guy. I mean, you know, so Hanks weaving in the middle of kind of a giants Novarum season. And I was kind of on pins and needles waiting for the next part of the story and admits amongst the giants not scoring and losing three to nothing or whatever. Yeah. It was just it was just brilliant. How he did that and on a bad team? The sport of baseball the history that giving someone interesting and Ted Williams growing up in San Diego, and then being a fighter pilot World War and just he was weaving all this in in the midst of kind of nothing baseball games. I was like, man. This guy is a a master working at his craft. It was just great to be around that. Yeah. That stuff is so invaluable to have historical context, and there's so much great fascinating stuff. That's happened in baseball going back to the nineteenth century. And I just remember travelling with the teams that I was on the beat. You know, Hank would always be, you know, checking out a bookstore somewhere. Where's the best bookstore in town? And he'd be there for a couple of hours and extremely well. Read guy always had tons of notes that he'd bring with them. And and he'd save, you know, he'd save everything he thought was worthy of going on the air for a time when it was exactly. Right. It it might be a month from now, but he'd clip out stuff from the newspapers and take notes from his books. He was just a marvelously well prepared guy, which is a great lesson for people in any business. We are talking to Bruce Jenkins. Find columnist for the San Francisco Chronicle and SF gate dot com. What's what's been picking your interest in the very beginnings of this NBA season? Well, there's a lot of things going on. Of course, you know, the war. The warriors stories are we're reading about them. And you guys are all over that. I thought it was interesting that trae young went off the other night for thirty five and ten or something I watched every almost every game I could of his Ed Oklahoma. And I sorta got increase increasingly less interested as it went on because they were sort of finding him out and warming him. And, but I'll tell you the guy keeps coming, and, you know, he he's he's he's like hurry in the sense that he'll pull up from like thirty five no problem, stole eat alone. Then we saw that the other night. And when he when he takes offer the basket, he's a great passer. He's got a little floaters, and he's never going to be great defensively. And he's gonna have some tough times. I think they play Dallas in Donncha tonight. So that'll be interesting. But you know, that's one of the things just to see, you know, quiet Leonard is back with with it hundred looks like. He's one hundred percents now as we know it's always really about what's happening next year. Right. Bob, all but who's going where next year and sure enough the Butler is going to team up with with the clippers. And does anybody wanna play with never slow wherever Kawai is playing next year? It's going to be a lucky team. Yeah. Well, Bruce, what I'd like to do is Rodney I'd like to have dinner with you tonight. And during that dinner, I'll we'll talk about as dinner next Tuesday. The table. What what the the trae young things interesting because the Don sick trae young trade, essentially, and our friend Travis link did that in Atlanta there, we're going to watch those parallel careers and see man, you didn't wanna look, and you really believe in in trae young. And what I find really interesting is the man who drafted Steph curry, Larry Riley is a consultant now in Atlanta, and he helped them with that draft. And so they may have seen some curry like traits not just for what trae young can do, but the impact of that perimeter shooting and how it affects all the other players on the floor. See that's the thing that gravity towards staff makes Durant better. Klay better dream on better Damian is getting wide open dunks because five guys jumping a curry all the time. And so maybe young has that kind of effect down the road eventually with Atlanta. Yeah. And the great thing it's not like, you know, jimmer for debt or way back Rick mount or these guys. Trae Young's have very good passer as his curry. So you gotta you gotta watch out for him. You know, you wanna double team him? But he'll get rid of the ball. If you leave him open, he'll shoot from anywhere. But he, you know, he sets off to the basket. He can kick out or hit somebody underneath is very very creative guy. And I just love how he just keeps coming. No matter, you know, in college in the pros, you you can't you can't break his spirit, and he he's going to be around a while this it's it's tremendous thing to see, and, you know, Travis link is I mean, the Larry Riley, and and you know, the the picture of trae young and lots of draft picks coming up. He's trying to of build the warriors. You know in the in the south, of course. Yeah. Not a bad way to go. No, no. That's not a bad thing to try and emulate when I woke up this morning. I didn't think we'd get a Greg Ostertag reference on the show. I sure as hell didn't say Rick mount reference on the show. So bruce. The obscured by basketball player of the day award. It'll be in the mail. Made the cover of Sports Illustrated. And he's made the way after he made the covers Sports Illustrated. The World Series before we let you go. They've already played a game. But I still want your prediction of of this World Series between two clubs. We were just talking about this a while ago. They are put together similarly the Red Sox, and and the dodgers young talent playing well right now, but they're both monied clubs, and they've spent a lot of money to go along with that at young talent that's playing well it's going to be evenly matched. But to me the Red Sox are just relentless with that lineup which I thought. Yeah, I didn't have anything in in print for public. But I you know, I did pick the Red Sox just you know, in my living room. Because they're just you know, I I like the dodgers I think they're they're a fun team to watch it very entertaining. And they got some villains on the team. And you know, they've got a lock on the National League West now. But I tell you. I mean, the Red Sox are just they're so loaded. Garlic bogart's. A shortstop is tremendous tremendous player Benintendi out in left field. I love that kid and he gets four hits. And then you get back to the to MVP candidates, you know, with with bets and JD Martinez. And it just it goes on and on their kid Evers is a tremendous left handed hitter. They've just got you know, there's and they're built their rotation is built around starters, which you know, I'll take that over Liam Hendriks. Call me crazy. But. I'm a little bit of a traditional isn't that? I don't wanna see nineteen pitchers every night. You know? I'm just funny that way both teams are like that in a way. But I don't take. We'll see any complete games. But I do like. I do like that. They're both teams are built around the starters. But I I just think I think the Red Sox just have too much going. It'll be interesting in L A to see if they bench Benintendi or Jackie Bradley to get Martinez in the in the outfield. Excuse me Martinez is gonna play. He's he's unbelievable. But even even with the one of those two out feelers on the bench. You know, they're available later in the game because it's an actual league game. And he hit for the pictures and everything else, but they're deep and they're young, and and they're veterans, and they they are compelling. It's what every team would like to be before. We let you go Martinez is going to play and they're gonna put him in that outfield. I don't think it's going to be Vladimir Guerrero playing the outfield and the two thousand ten World Series in the giant says hit balls at flat whose knees were just shot and couldn't move. I don't think it's going to be like that for the dodgers. But she might as well see because there's that outfield as it's currently constituted in their part is great those guys they make spectacular place. They all have arms. They all have have ranged because they're athletes. They don't give away outs. Matter of fact, they'll take runs away from you. But if Martinez is out there and he's not up to snuff. If you can just flip that bad boy out to him and see how that works. I I would think the dodgers a smart that is. Absolutely one of your plans of attack when when you get back to Dodger Stadium. Well, there's no doubt about it. I mean, the drop off between that's two Martinez and jailed massive massive. Yeah. I remember that throw that's made in the LCS. I do Bruce. I was watching that game. In around. Forget who hit it. But he's he's taken off for second. Figuring. I got this. And he just didn't know listen, my my knowledge of the Red Sox, and the understanding of how good they are is purely informed by the fact that they went and beat a Houston team and look bad in the process..

Well from Alvin Texas you don't play until he was forty seven years old throughs last fastball ninety five miles an hour at. And I think there's just a lot of things about his psyche and his mentality his toughness both physical and mental Are to be admired House this house was his pitching coach with the Texas Rangers for for. That period of time there was a couple of guys on staff pitched well into their forty s I think a lot of those guys would credit townhouse for having. "This is a way different subject, but there is a PBS special premiering tonight, in fact, called the greatest hitter who ever lived as documentary about none other than Ted Williams as part of the American Masters Series. And interestingly, there's a young man who kind of in a weird way played Ted Williams in the documentary. They had some scenes where they needed a guy, kinda swinging a bat and looking like Ted Williams, who was the stand in for Ted Williams. And it is Irie how much the Astros rookie outfielder Kyle Tucker looks like. Did we ABS? He's got that long. Thin billeted had especially early in his career. He's got that left handed swing. He doesn't wear batting gloves. The whole thing in this is how stupid I am. So he comes up to the big leagues, George Springer yelling at us. Do you call him Ted, you call him Ted and I just thought, okay, you know he's tall and skinny. He's a left-handed hitter, Ted Williams. Got you. Got you. Okay. Instead I didn't realize that he actually has been Ted Williams and will be a stand in for Ted Williams on this PBS American Masters Series tonight on Ted Williams. I can't wait to watch it. I bet it's really well done. Now. There was a coal store in the New Yorker about the the background of talker being involved in in basically the the producers of the movie are are looking for somebody an Email contacted MLB just saying, we're having trouble finding somebody resembles Ted Williams immediately. They should back note. Look at this Astros prospect, he's six, four hundred ninety pounds. Ted Williams often mentioned in his scouting reports and look at his slow MO swing in this video, and they send the video and they were like, that's it. That's the guy. That's perfect. So pretty cool thing for college Hooker newly promoted to the big leagues. Cal Tucker, no less. So a lot of cool things going on his realm. These days Richard, it's a new week. What do you watch in this week? I'm going to start tonight. I'm gonna watch the dodgers Phillies tonight. I wanna keep watching Manny Machado. I wanna just watch the evolution of the Phillies they've been. They played great lately won thirteen out of twenty mclintock's going out and trying to get him some pitching. But this is a good week. You know, the nationals Burs play. We keep waiting for the light to go on with the nationals. The Rockies come home and have to against the Astros and then a series with the as they play great lately. So it's it's a good week of baseball yet. I'm just a hyper focused on the trade market right now. So paying attention. Cole hamels start Monday night against the Atlantic's. Obviously a very good team playing well are the as and hamels is one in two with a nine point, five, three era. In one point, eight, eight, whip in his last four starts that's not going to get it done. We know hamels pedigree, postseason pedigree that is so because see him go somewhere where he's got a shot at a World Series rang, but he's got a pitch better quite frankly. So we'll see a small samples. Can be a big deal this time of year. So we'll see how he rebounds. If rebounds tonight we'll be back on Wednesday for the usual funding gains with Richard Justice. My thanks to him. Thanks to Anthony komo's for joining us today and to our producer Mersa Morris. We'll be back soon. Have a great day. Everybody..

"To the things you really understand and buffet uses an analogy of ted williams and laboratory this ted williams is a ambitious oh definitely not told you this i ted williams was a hero when i was a little kid is a baseball player in baseball in based on your exit baseball player in baseball this this ford of people every year that he had surveyors where he pipe baseball pretty i he did well all it was the most valuable player in baseball it with the most valuable player he would sometimes have a batting average of over four hundred which is an almost impossible that means every four times he came to bat he got hit and then of course they walked him some times and and so he was on base probably maybe six times out of every every ten that he went to bat which is crazy so anyway he said the ted had a theory of of hitting what he did was he took the strike zone which is the from your chest to your knees and the width of the play forget as it's a box and that's called the strike zone okay and he found it seventy seven baseball i don't why it's not seventy a but seventy seven baseball's fit into that square for him his height where his knees were all that seventy seven baseball's would fit into that rectangle so baseball sized spot and he memorize he'd be that each chart plotted like look in a game films all of the places where if he swung when the ball was there he would hit four hundred.
