And all you have is your phone and you scroll in your phone and you're just seeing somebody who looks like you, Your uncle, Your brother, your cousin and they're getting slain in the middle of street with you. No, no regard no repercussions. That is really close to home. And, you know, I just remember feeling so down, you know, like it. Just it just don't just seeing him and he's calling out for his mom. You know his mother. Who's dead? You know, it's like he. It's like he knew. You know, it's almost like he was in that other life like Dimension. State officials have told Taiwan based Fox Constance last year that it wouldn't qualify for the tax credits without revisions to the 2017 contract, given that the scope of the envisioned factory has been reduced. President Trump Herald of the original idea As a deal, I should say, is a sign of revitalized American manufacturing. ByteDance Says It Won. Trump Says Not So Fast. TikTok Continues For Now.

"Okay, here's what I can tell you. You can still use tiktok as of this moment president trump since we last spoke said he approved Oracle's bid for the US. Operations of tiktok quote in concept, and so essentially the US delayed the planned tick tock band by about a week as Oracle Walmart looked to take a twenty percent stake in Tiktok globals planned pre IPO round as well as of course, the deals to host talks us user data and computer systems quoting Bloomberg I approve the deal and concept trump told reporters Saturday as he left the White House for a campaign rally in Fayetteville north. Carolina if they get. It done. That's great. If they don't, that's okay too and quote the new company which will be called tiktok global has agreed to funnel five billion dollars in new tax dollars to the US and set up a new education fund which trump said would satisfy his demand that the government receive a payment from the deal quote they're going to be setting up a very large fund. He said that's their contribution that I've been asking for an quote Oracle plans to take a twelve point, five percent stake in the new tiktok level. While Walmart said, it has tentatively agreed to by seven point, five percent of the entity. Walmart's. Officer Doug Macmillan will serve on tiktok global's board of directors. The retailer said in a statement for of the five board seats will be filled by Americans according to the statement tic TACs. Owner Bite dance is seeking evaluation of sixty billion dollars for the APP, according to a person familiar with the matter Oracle and Walmart would pay a combined twelve billion dollars for their stakes. If they agreed to that asking price, the final valuation has not been set as the party's worked out the equity structure and measures data security. The person said terms are still in flux and the proposed valuation could still change and quote. Yet more about that flex in a second but more about that five billion dollar payment to the government. The president mentioned I. Guess That's the key money by another name that he was asking for all along except that seems to have come as news to at least most of the parties involved Oracle later confirmed it to a degree but quoting Dan primack on twitter. More about tiktok quote Payments Number One the Education Fund is not to fun trump's patriotic history project number two, the five billion dollar figure is not codified anywhere and no one expects it to be anywhere near that big number three, the five billion dollars to the Treasury is anticipated payroll taxes over an unspecified period. Of Time, there will be an education focused effort using tick tock short video format distribution tool, but there is no dollar amount tied to it with trump seeming to inflate the payroll tax figure with the Education Fund remember Tick Tock doesn't have five billion dollars at least not until its IPO wants to complete within twelve months and quote. So. Again has this all been Kabuki theatre make the president think he's getting his key money. Give a politically connected firm, a sweetheart deal, and even if the five billion dollars is really not going to be five billion dollars again, we have the president of the government forcing the investment of private property, giving it to favourite entity and essentially asking for a kickback exactly. What happens in Banana Republics Super? Oh and about that whole thing being inflex bite dance. This morning was asserting that it is maintaining majority ownership and control over tick tock global and will not transfer any source code or technology to Oracle or Walmart so essentially waving a flag saying they won. Quoting the Financial Times bite that set on money that it would maintain majority ownership and control of tiktok global contradicting statements by Donald trump oracle, and Walmart after it agreed a deal with the companies to continue operating in the US Oracle, the US technology group, and Walmart, the world's biggest bricks and mortar retailer said in a joint statement at the weekend that Tiktok level would be majority owned by American investors and quote however while they're state combined with the equity held by. Long standing US investors by dance might mean, American investors would be the biggest financial beneficiaries, direct majority ownership and control of the business is set to remain with the Chinese company in a statement released on January tat chow by dances Chinese social media platform. The company said tiktok global would be a quote one, hundred percent fully owned subsidiary. The company added that after raising funds ahead of a potential initial public offering, it would have an eighty percent stake in the company and quote. So maybe that wasn't a good thing to go spouting off about because this either means now the deal is really off. Because the Chinese side really doesn't want it or else the deal is off because the president isn't going to be pleased about that more in just one second or else everyone is just GonNa declare victory and. Meaningful has actually changed my money's on that but hard to tell at this point because to conclude. About thirty minutes ago. President trump. said, he would not approve a tick tock deal bite dance ceded control, and well I don't know.

Maggot farm in South Africa reduces food waste

"Most people would look at a mass of writhing maggots and see a scene that belongs in horror movie but Jason Drew Sees Opportunity. drew is CEO of the Insect Technology Group, which farms fly larvae at a factory in South Africa. The fly has an incredible future in helping US solve some problems. For example, fly larvae can eat food waste that would otherwise sit in landfills emitting carbon pollution at drew's factory the maggots munch on leftovers from restaurants and supermarkets. The law of I grow by eating that waste. That's their natural food. What they leave behind these compost we separate House Little Wrigley La, vie from the compost, and we process those La by into oil and into protein, and we apply that to fish farms and chicken volumes predominantly in Asia. That help solve another problem fish poultry farms often feed their animals fish meal, which is made from wild caught fish. We need to find ways of feeding those animals without imposing further on our natural ecosystems. The Maga me provide the new source of protein. So while farming fly larvae may sound gross the approach is buzzing with

"That type of stuff. The other thing on the Innovation Front that I. Love About FCS's I have a great relationship with our VP Josh Jackson he runs solution and Technology Group and I'm we're trying to really formulate that? It is customer zero, so the things that we are selling, capabilities and products methodologies that we sell to our customers or use it our customers, we use internally as well where it makes sense, and we've really start to build that practice up. Up over the last twelve months, and that's the part that i. think is really exciting. It's not just about running the enterprise, but we're actually doing things for the enterprise that we can have those qualifications and show that we do internally so when we talk with our customers, we can say yeah. We do that, too. And some of the examples I mean really small examples are we're. We're creating a chat Bot and we did a partnership with a company called. Called expressive, and we're building on top of service now and we're using it, you know we've twenty five thousand employees, so this is going to be an experience for our employees, but as perfect it we'll be able to with the with the call center that we use with many other customers offer it to them to but we're kind of proving it out internally, which is great so I call it drinking our own ip a but it's basically being no customer zero. And we did the same thing with the data center. We stood up a software defined data center next Gen Data Center. We use the whole. vm Ware Stack, and you know made a private cloud, and it's fantastic, and that's another example where we're able to a lot of our customers are dealing with that How how do they go to the cloud? Sometimes it can't be a public cloud, and we're able to show what we've done internally and and it's really proving out quite nicely. But it's interesting I'd not heard him drinking. You're on a very specific I e go. Everyone was saying eat your own dog food. Then there was drinking champagne I gotta go somewhere.

Uber self-driving car involved in fatal crash couldn't detect jaywalkers

"The US National Transportation Safety Board released more than four hundred pages of reports and supporting documents on the March. Two thousand eighteen crash of an autonomous Uber Car. That killed forty nine nine year. Old Elaine Herzberg in Tempe Arizona Hertzberg was walking her bicycle across the road in a place not designated for pedestrians so this was jaywalking. The report says the car detected Herzberg and her bicycle before she entered the lane of traffic five point six seconds before the car hit her. The system initially classified classified her as a vehicle because she was to the side. They're like Oh there's another vehicle on the side of the road. Then it changed the classification several times as it realized. Well wait a minute. That doesn't look exactly early life vehicle it did not however predict that she would change her direction of travel and cross in front of the car. Uber says has it has now made changes since that to its system that would correctly identify her as a pedestrian and anticipate that she might be about to walk in front of the car applied the brakes at least four seconds before impact. That is not what happened then because the system was incapable of doing that as was previously reported there was a safety driver. There was a human in this car but that safety driver was watching a video on her phone and did not see Hertzberg time. I'm to apply the brakes herself. The report also notes that the Uber Advanced Technologies Group in Tempe didn't have a standalone safety division or a formal safety plan standard operating procedures or a manager focused on preventing accidents. All the kinds of things that you might want to see to help prevent this sort of situation from arising The report is going to be used to assign a cause for the crash. They're meeting the. NTSB will meet on November nineteenth. The point of this report is two handed to the committee so the committee can look at it and say okay we. We're going to officially assigned the cause of the crash this this and decide what to do from then on but in the course of writing up this bit I changed my mind from blaming blaming the system to saying that is a perfectly legitimate state for the system to be in our cars right now. Aren't good at telling if there's a pedestrian we have to be those people that's why there was a human safety driver in this car And I think that that is the system that failed in this case in my opinion the and also aw I keep trying to put myself in the place of everybody in this scenario if this was just someone driving and the exact bike thing happened to me and my Volkswagen it sounds like one of those areas that was caused by the person on the bike. And I know that the whole point of the Thomas Driving is we're going to get to a place where cars are so smart. Even other mistakes that happen around the car can be accommodated for and react to those in a way. Okay that is the most safe possible way to react but in this particular case if somebody was just driving in this happen. I'm not sure the results have been any different. I guess what I'm saying is this is and other case where everybody's GonNa look at this and go see. This is what happens when you try to do these automatic cars and I look at it and go. I don't know I mean these things happen throughout history of automation automation. And guess what we make better seatbelt. We make it better airbag. We make it better Strut so that doesn't pop when you hit the front of the curb you know we're we're always iterating and building on it. Eventual outcome of this is more safety for everybody. We're just weighed things. KEEP COMING UP WITH UTAH. When I was researching the story I was like yeah not accounting for Jaywalking? I never really even considered a Thomas. Vehicles had to do that but of course they do because people are going to do stupid things. Sometimes they're gonNA Jaywalk they're gonNA THEY'RE GONNA dirt in front of you. I mean that's like one of my biggest fears as an actual human driver is doing that and me not being able to predict unpredictable behavior. That happens it's like us to predict that that's going to happen right right. Yeah and so. It's it's not unreasonable. Unreasonable to expect that an autonomous car. A certain point and testing development wouldn't be good at predicting this unpredictable behavior. It's not that it just didn't hit it that it hit and object it should have detected. It's that the subject was moving in a way that the algorithm couldn't predict and the answer to that is like well. Then you shouldn't have this thing on the road work could kill someone. It's like well we have to have it on the road detested. That's why we had a safety driver because we didn't think that this thing was perfect yet and that's why I go back to saying the safety driver system is what failed here

You can't just like throw a t shirt in this, and it comes out fold at the other end, you got to kind of help it along and says, it can fold a shirt and five seconds. I could see a future for this and places like retail stores or there's a lot of folding, and and this could make it more efficient and more uniform. So you're not paying a bunch of teenagers to fold your clothes at the gap or whatever but still prototype. I'm not convinced. There's actually not just a child inside this box folding clothes. Proven that to be wrong yet, the mechanical Turk of close full thing. Right. They say it will be for sale later this year for around a thousand dollars a piece and who knows if that's true. I don't see this thing that's more than the labor of a high schooler. Just just. Yeah. We're calling back to what I was paid to fold close when I was in highschool to be a lot of close your folded for dollars. Yeah. I don't think I first year. I saw this. It was literally just a like a molded box. There was nothing inside of it. And so I wonder what kind of stuff they've added in now because if to whatever years ago, it was just a just a box. I don't think. You just use the con- Maury method scary arms in that box. You don't want to I want to point out in the story. The tech radar story that Stephen linked to hear this this line made me just squeal with laughter, which is the company claims. It can also do shirts trousers and some sizes of towel. That's something. That's your list. These t shirts shirts trousers and certain kinds of towels, but not all tell tell. That's not hand towel. Stephen. I think you you win the award for finding the product that is on its third lap around see. Fantastic run around folded people's clothes thing, by the way. This is why you don't have to go to see every year. Go every third year gonna be like oh that thing again. Certain sizes of tells so I'm gonna I'm gonna do one that I think it made me laugh Sony is going to be Sony. They have announced a new format for audio called three sixty reality audio, which is a new surround sound format. You you're going to say to yourself. Well, don't we have formats like that already? Oh, yes. We have lots of them Dobie at most being a good one, but Sony has decided to make their own format and you're thinking to yourself. Well, okay, great Sony, but who is going to be your partner, and I'm not making this up Sony Sony, maiden -ment where Sony's technol- technology group announced that one of their big partners on this would be Sony. Vertical immigration is important people, and who but Sony could support Sony now, they say, they they have some deals with some streaming services to support this three hundred sixty degree audio format. There's a nice little. Demo little piece of art that shows a person sitting on a stool surrounded by speakers, which is not meant to actually happen. Anyway, I it made me laugh because what is what could be more Sony than introducing proprietary format that nobody but Sony supports it seems like they do this every year and Sony's in such a weird place. They it seemed like they were gonna ditch all the entertainment stuff. But now they're saying, oh, we're entertainment. All on board with us. They just issues whiplash following Sony. And they didn't really have any camera news this year. We're in past passers. They have just don't know. What's going on over there? Just seems like a confusing place to be. Yeah. I think Sony may be always been a confusing place to be okay, we have one more mini draft before we're done, and this is the worst. So before we got a little fuzzy puppy update at the end to turn things around. But I want from you the worst story of us twenty nineteen mica, what do you have?.
