One of those priorities, at least in the Senate, is funding for Ukraine. The bill does not include aid for Ukraine, but lawmakers agreed to take that up at a later date. House Speaker Kevin McCarthy brought up the stopgap measure and over the objections of conservatives got it passed in the House with the overwhelming support of Democrats. He says he had little choice after exhausting other efforts. If you have members in your conference that won't let you vote for appropriation bills and won't vote for a stopgap measure, so the only answer is to shut down and not pay our troops? I don't want to be a team. part of that The legislation extends government funding through November 17th on Capitol Hill. Mitchell Miller, WTOP news. National AFGE president Everett Kelly says the federal government employees in the union want lawmakers to settle their political differences without the threats of government shutdowns. Shut down is not the to way deal with these issues. You know, face them head on, deal with them, and do the job that we elected you to do. At Fort Washington National Park, Dick Iuliano, WTOP News. And after passage of the bill, AFGE national president Everett Kelly applauded members of Congress for passing that bill. Before the House of Senators voted on a continuing resolution to keep the government open, there was an evacuation of a congressional office building after a fire alarm was pulled. Turns out New York Democratic Congressman Jamal Bowman is the person sounded who the alarm even though there was no fire. Louisiana Senator Bill Cassidy thinks he be needs held to accountable. He should be, suffer the consequences. It's sophomoric, childish, but it's also illegal. You shouldn't do that. You're a dadgum congressman. Bowman's office confirmed the congressman pulled the alarm and regrets any confusion he caused since he did not realize his action would trigger a building alarm. "Wire to get started. Also, one of the biggest differences between Christianity and Judaism is the way in which topics like lust and adultery are approached in episode ten of Jordan Peterson series on the book of exodus. Dennis prager addresses that topic head on. In addition to Dennis, I joined Jordan alongside a group of esteemed scholars, theologians and artists to discuss. One of the most seminal books in the Bible, here's a little bit of it. I am less interested in the interior person morally speaking than you are. And probably any of you are and it's largely I do believe because I come from a behaviorist law based religion. We care how you act. That's why we don't have a claim that if you look at another woman with lost, it's as if you've committed adultery with her. I am, as I said yesterday, I thank God for America's Christians. And my monitor said if it weren't for Christians, the world wouldn't know about the Torah. So I'm a big Christian fan, but obviously Christianity and Judaism are not identical religions. And we have no equivalent that if you look upon another woman with lust it's as if you have committed adultery with your heart. There's only one way to commit adultery and Judaism and it's with a different organ. And I'm not being cute. I'm being very realistic. The discussion in Jordan series is really fantastic. It was a pleasure to take part in the discussion. New episodes are coming online every week exclusively for a daily wire plus members. Join now, daily wear dot com slash subscribe to watch exodus. Well, the attempts at indoctrination, they bleed down, but they also bleed up, meaning that it's not just at the K through 12 level that people are worried about indoctrination of their kids. They should also be worried about that at higher levels of education Stanford law school, for example, just saw this massive controversy in which one judge a federal judge appointed by Donald Trump went to speak there and was essentially shouted down by an entire law school body, including the head of diversity, equity, and inclusion. You know, what's amazing about places like Stanford is that the ideology so predominates there that education is being completely lost even in some of the best institutions in the country, theoretically. The number of actual employees at Stanford is that they actually have believe it or not, more than 10,000 administrators who oversee 7760 undergrad and 9565 grad students. So that means totally you have like 17,000 kids and you have 10,000 administrators. There are another 2200 faculty members. So you're now talking about almost a one to one ratio of administrators to students. And that's because you have to hire all of these diversity folks whose job it is to basically indoctrinate your kids in stupidity. And that's how you end up with the bizarre spectacle of the DEI a person named Tyrion Steinbach, yelling at a federal judge at Stanford law school. This person now has a piece over The Wall Street Journal saying, my participation at the event with judge Duncan has been widely discussed. I was asked to attend the event by federalist society. My role is to observe and if needed deescalate, Duncan entered a room, a verbal sparring match began to take place between the judge and the protesters by the time judge Duncan asked for an administrator to intervene, tempers in the room where he did on both sides. To defuse the situation, I acknowledge the protesters concerns, at one point during the event, I asked judge Duncan is the juice worth the squeeze. I was referring to the responsibility that comes with freedom of speech to consider not only the benefit of our words, but also the consequences. Again, there's an entire indoctrinated apparatus apparatus that is designed to destroy minds and tell you end up with people like ever max Kenny being treated as intellectuals, by the way. He has a piece over the Atlantic today that is titled the crisis of the intellectuals and the crisis apparently is that not enough people think that ibram X kendi is an intellectual mainly because he's not. Mainly because he's an unbelievable grifter who has never written a cohesive argument in his entire life, but has been able to claim that he is antiracist by dint of the fact that if you oppose his agenda, this inherently makes you a racist. Okay, so what is the solution to all of us? There are a few solutions. Solution number one is now being pursued in at least four states, and that is universal school choice. So according to the Washington examiner, a universal school choice Bill is now headed to the desk of Florida governor Ron DeSantis. After the state Senate, passed the legislation overwhelmingly. 26 to 12 on Thursday. Once the governor's signature is affixed to the legislation, Florida becomes the fourth state this year to enact a universal school choice program after similar bills were passed in Utah, Iowa, and Arkansas. Legislation expands an existing school choice program to all K through 12 students. It allows families to use state funds to pay for private school tuition home tutoring and other school expenses. It was HB one, the number one priority for the house. The state house bill passed this week on an 83 to 27 vote. By the way it's a lot of Democrats who are voting in favor of that. That is not just Republicans who are voting in favor of that. That is a solution. This is, in fact, the way. And it is a good thing. Parents need to have their education back. They need to take control of the education. There's a reason why teachers unions combined with the media combined with the federal government are very interested in being able to indoctrinate your kids in whatever they could possibly want. And that is the shift in power to centralized apparatuses of power. And now, speaking of the shift in power to centralized apparatuses, the fight back has also begun against social media for kids. And this is a good thing. So Utah has now signed a sweeping social media bill that would be governor Spencer Cox. It's a sweeping social media Bill that could dramatically limit youth access to apps like TikTok and Instagram, potentially upending how many miners in the state use the Internet. This is a good thing. This is a necessary thing. Kids are not just being indoctrinated by their teachers and public schools and not just being indoctrinated by IM jazz or whatever. They're also being perverted by apps like TikTok. Again, TikTok is banned in China. The American version of TikTok is banned in China for a reason. TikTok in China features people doing math. TikTok in America features people trying to trans your children. Utah legislature passed the measure this month despite opposition from tech industry groups and civil liberties experts is the first state law in the nation, though prohibit social media services from allowing users under 18 to have accounts without the explicit consent of a parent or guardian. This is a good first step. Other great steps would be legislation prohibiting the use of smartphones in the classroom. You just can't use it when you're at your school in a public school. That would be a good thing as well. All of which raised the biggest fight of the day yesterday, which was the CEO of TikTok visiting Congress. According to The Wall Street Journal, U.S. China relations results in other blow is lawmakers at a house hearing pummel TikTok chief executive over the popular appetites to China. And as Beijing said it would fight any U.S. attempt to force the company sale by its Chinese owners. So first of all, that in and of itself demonstrates that TikTok is in fact a Chinese front. Why would it endanger a U.S. China relations if TikTok were not a Chinese front? Why would it matter? The hearing on Thursday peppered with withering attacks on TikTok from both Democrats and Republicans ran for more than 5 hours. TikTok CEO shao zhizhou, he did in front of U.S. TikTok executives and popular stars on the platform, sought to reassure lawmakers.

"100 years, and it's what Cedar Sinai means when they say we're right here back again, with left right and center. I'm Josh Barrow on the right is Rachel Bovard, senior policy director at the Conservative Partnership Institute. On The Left is Elizabeth Breunig, staff writer at the Atlantic and our special guest is David from staff writer at the Atlantic author and former speechwriter for former President George W. Bush. Tech industry groups are suing to block enforcement of a new Florida law signed by Governor Rhonda Santa's that aims to limit technology companies ability to censor moderate or algorithmic, Lee curate political content. Laws, a reflection of conservative frustrations over social media platform policies, including their banishment of former President Trump. Among other provisions, the law would prevent platforms from banning candidates for state or local office from their platforms would also prohibit them from blocking content from journalistic enterprises. And it says Cos they're supposed to let users opt out of algorithms that determine what content is shown to them and how technology companies say the law violates their first Amendment right to choose what content they will and won't host. They also say conflict with federal law, the famous section 2 30 of Communications Decency Act, which says tech companies can't be held liable for good faith decisions to remove quote. Obscene, lewd, lascivious, filthy, excessively violent, harassing or otherwise objectionable content. Of course, the phrase otherwise objectionable. Contains multitudes. Rachel What's the case for this law? So what I think Rhonda Sanders has done here is very instructive because, you know well, I think it's being framed as a response to conservative bias and all these things that you know, ratchet up people's attention spans. He's made to really clear distinctions about what these platforms are that I think are important. And the first is, you know that we constantly talk about these platforms, a speech platforms, but what they really are our digital ad agencies and they're the biggest ones that exist in the world. And I think by You know, bracketing this bill around political candidates. He's acknowledging the role of these platforms play in our political speech, and he's saying Look, it's an actual Unfairness if you block one candidate and not another, you know when they're trying to reach voters because this is almost now a critical piece of infrastructure and reaching voters. The second thing I think it does is by allowing users the ability to appeal to these companies to sue these companies in certain aspects. It gets up this notion that there isn't really any sort of claim users can bring against these companies. Right now. There's no transparency. There's no balance of relationship. So I think he's getting it to really key areas that I think you're going to drive the debate that are already driving into debate in Washington, and I think if there's more state action on this front, it's really going to be the tail that wags the dog in some respect. You know, pushing federal regulators to get engaged lawmakers to get engaged in ways they currently haven't I want to hear from both Liz and David on this because what ritual laid out there if we abstracted away from Donald Trump and from the specific complaints that we've been hearing from conservatives over the last few years about how they're treated by social media companies. This idea that basically you have powerful corporations that do too much to shape the way the public conversation happens that you need government regulation to step in and ensure that that conversation is fair or complete or or whatever your values are. That's something I would typically associate with the left rather than right. And so, David, I I'm sure that you oppose this law and I'm interested. T hear what you think The problem is with it. Liz. I'm interested in hearing from you about do you do we need some sort of framework like this? Is this something that that you should want from the left and what do you do to ensure that it's actually achieving your goals rather than some other set of goals that some government bureaucrats or lawmakers who oversee it? Might achieve s. So let's let's start with David and then list. I don't even oppose it because to oppose it would be to take the law more seriously than any of its authors do. It is not a law, it's It's a posture. It's a It's a statement. Rhonda Santos is brilliant insight. Is that the Republican Party primary electorate wants a big culture war bully. And they got that in Donald Trump. But what he also understood is that leads only to failure in office and to defeat at re election. So you have to find some way to propose is a big cultural or bully well, actually being a fairly conventional. Bush Romney, Republican S Oh, that's that's his inside. That's what this law is. This law is unenforceable. It's obviously unconstitutional. It's not. It has no future as a matter of legislation that it's a big part of the wrong to Santa Story the same way with this absurd idea that he's going to ban cruise lines from checking that passengers on cruise ships like major vector of disease are vaccinated. He's not gonna wait. He doesn't. He's not gonna win that fight. I don't think he wants to win that fight. He just wants to be seen fighting that fight to say that the primary electorate I got all the attitude of Trump but a little more brain. Jealous and I think this is part of the issue when when liberals have tried to come up with these sorts of regimes is that you have all of these enforcement issues that David describes there. So it's not clear even if you think that some sort of regime is is necessary like this. You can actually put it in and make it work. Yeah. You know, I don't have, um, unanswered here. I don't have a solution that is to say, but But I do think that the problem is very clear. And that's in a liberal democracy. You need fair elections that are accessible to you know every qualified candidate. Um, And what we have is a private, um, you know, Election hearing apparatus in that the way that elections are carried out is through these private companies, more or less that Have rules that of largely excluded regulation by um, the United States by the people. So fairness essentially goes out the window, and there's no way for the public to Oversee. Um, how the elections are managed in that respect, And I think that's a pretty serious, pretty glaring conflict that we got by with not dealing with for a long time because the technology just wasn't readily available, but Now that it is and it's playing increasingly important role in our daily lives. I think it's something that's going to be have to be dealt with. At some point. I don't know how, but I see the conflict and I think it's serious. Rachel is is David Wright that this law is basically stage fighting. I mean, in addition to the what I think, are significant constitutional issues significant issues of preemption by federal law. Also a lot of the stuff in terms of how you would actually implement some of the rules around. How algorithms can and can't work I think are impractical is the intention for this law to be enforced? So I almost think success isn't really the point. And what I mean by that is, you know, think about the last time the federal government took a big swing at these tech companies. It was in 2018 with the passage of Foster's Esta, which was getting at the sex trafficking problem where these companies were using section 2 30 is a shield to protect them from having to do anything about the sex traffic and go miners on their platform..
