"In Seattle, northwest news times, 6 35. It's pretty normal to see cat videos on Twitter. It's not every day that video is from the Ukrainian defense minister. Yesterday Alexei resnikoff tweeted a video that smashed up imagery of Ukrainian soldiers operating American Bradley vehicles alongside cats attacking bears and ending with a thank you message to the American people. This comes ahead of an expected Ukrainian counteroffensive and amid reports of a spike in Russian combat deaths. Dan lamothe covering this for The Washington Post. He spoke with northwest news radios Taylor van Sykes. The messaging is all there, Ukraine is ready to press ahead, but how bad are things already for Russian forces, according to The White House. It's a rough picture. We're looking at something in the order of about 20,000 Russian combat fatalities since December and obviously the war goes back 14 months. So added all together and dead and wounded, were likely looking at about a quarter million Russian soldiers dead and wounded in the last 14 months. And what about Ukraine's numbers? How bad is their casualty count? Those numbers are also pretty horrific. Tens of thousands certainly dead more than that wounded. The best number that we've seen is something on the order of more than a 100,000 dead and wounded. We've spoken a number of times Dan about how that official number that comes out of Russia is almost never going to match up with what NATO countries or Ukraine estimates are going to be. Is there any confirmation at this point from the Russian government that things are going poorly for them? Certainly not on the order of anything resembling reality. That they put their number in the dozens for the town of bakhmut and kind of compared their effort to the Battle of the Bulge from World War II and in reality they are putting Russian soldiers in Russian convicts in particular. They've actually taken to use in Russian convicts out of prison and directing them to charge through the center of this town back mode. And that has really run up the casualty number in particular. I think one of the phrases you used in your report was something like throwing flesh at this effort. Yes, that was actually the words of John Kirby, one of the spokesman at The White House. As of now, the expected Ukrainian counteroffensive, it hasn't started yet, but if and when it does, what's the expectation? Is it going to radically shift the map? I think in terms of effectiveness, that's to be seen. What Ukraine has now that they didn't have a year ago. Is a great, great additional number of American and European combat vehicles. Bradley fighting vehicles, armored vehicles, European tanks, and they've assembled this into something resembling 9 additional armored brigades of soldiers. Whether or not they're effective, I think it remains to be seen, but they've been receiving training. And they've been kind of working up to this point. The question now becomes where does Ukraine prioritize what do they attempt to take back the Russian currently possesses? And how effective is Ukraine at doing so and holding it after? Dan Le Mans with us on northwest news radio from The Washington Post. His piece online at Washington Post is where you can find out all about the upcoming expected offensive and why Mahmoud is so important despite seemingly unimportant, strategic location in the country. So foods have to have a certain amount of the good stuff and a certain lack of the bad stuff. So it has to have nutrients of desire. The fruits and veg and dairy products that we are supposed to be eating. Meaningful amount of those. And then their new proposed limit is on saturated fat, sodium, and added sugar. So that added sugars piece is the first time the FDA has kind of weighed in on limiting that. And so if we use that example of healthy choice, for example, they've got so much money invested in that brand. What would they have to do to make their chicken parmer or whatever able to still hold that healthy choice label? Well, con Agra the parent company basically said, we can't do it. We can't make food that people want to buy and eat, and adhere to these rules. So we may just pivot and get rid of this healthy choice brand and do something else entirely. And a lot of the food industry kind of came back to the FDA in the form of comments and letters saying we can't make the food that people find craveable and adhere to these especially those added sugar limits. So at this point, you know, there's sugar in everything. It's not just in the drinks that sodas in the juices and pasta sauces and salad dressings and bagels and it's kind of name anything. They have added sugars. So this is probably going to drive a lot of food companies to reformulate and possibly to reformulate with high intensity sweeteners, non nutritive sweeteners into sub out some of those added sugars. I'm wondering how hard you had to dig to find a food producer that was happy about the proposed changes. I didn't find any actually. So even organizations that you think, you know, why do they care? You know, American cheese society basically pushed back and said, you know, the word healthy shouldn't be applied to a single food. You know, it's more of a lifestyle. It's how you're eating it with whom you're eating. It's the portion size. It's all these other things kind of fit together to make a healthy lifestyle. And that it's a little specious to point to this food right here and say, this is a healthy food, especially if the way they get over that line is by being fortified or highly processed and supplemented with vitamins and those kinds of things. Is that really healthy? The jury's out. And for that matter, does anybody really notice the word healthy on their foods? What would it do to your own shopping habits?
