"Well, the silence would have gotten it anyway. Okay. Least with the most award and I- disqualified Andrew Wiggins from consideration. Just because I think he may have already lapped wrapped up the lifetime achievement award of for this. So those just too obvious. So I went with someone else. But who did you have Wiggins definitely gets consideration? I'm still frustrated marquees Chris's and better defensively. But then my top two were calling Sexton Sexton is e you could argue that he's more overrated. But and he is he is good fiscal tools. He could be a much better defender than he is. And he's been awful like he was bad in high school from what I remember. He was batting college. He was terrible in summer league. And these been bad in the NBA, but my number one a guy that I actually it was fun when we went back into that draft recap piece. I had written about how I thought he was going to be he wasn't going to be as good at defenders people thought, but Taurean prince. Hey, we finally picked the guy. Hey, yeah. Like Taurean prince looks like he should be a much better defender than he is. And it's it's frustrating. And yeah, I mean, a forward isn't usually the focal point of teams defense, but he's not helping things and he should be helping things. Yeah. He is on academic probation hawks university right now. Now, I'm trying to think of what players with dreadlocks are actually better defenders than people think like is there is there the reverse pair like because I mean Kenneth freed was overrated for years. Maybe tomorrow Carol's underrated at this point. Yeah. I think he was you could go back to Rinaldo. Both men. I we're really getting off the rails here. Let's wrap this up your anything to talk about for go. Yeah. So my off season preview series, which will eventually be all thirty teams will start at the ethic. It started with the Washington Wizards shortly after they fired Grunfeld it continued with the Minnesota Timberwolves. And then basically the pieces will be ruled out as teams get eliminated. And then the five lottery teams are going to be. After that or after the lottery happens, so those will be rolling out the athletic dot com slash cap space. I think the leaks to works and also real Jim radio. I am. This is one of the rare occasions where I'll say who my guest is because we're recording it immediately after this. I'm going to have Tim Bontemps on ESPN talking primarily about the Eastern Conference. So that'll be a lot of fun. And I have some more your stuff that is in the offing. "Just an invisible office a player at times and we've seen him go through flashes. This year where he has been able to play off the ball. Not need the ball in his hands to feel engaged and included in the offense and be able to make the play when the ball finds him in the right opportunity. But for my opinion across eighty two games. He hasn't done that often enough, my guess outside looking in my guess is. Is you know, the hawks are not terribly hot on him. At this point. You know, as we were do some work for peace to who said beginning the season, we had a round tables and one of the round table questions is make a bold prediction for the season. My prediction was that. He would be traded before the two thousand nineteen draft. And I think that is still a possibility except for well, the one challenge there is what's his value at right now just because he hasn't consistently played at a level that would make him extremely marketable. Although he does have a skill set. He can really really shoot and what he wants to. He can really really defend MandA, you know, and get him in the right environment. Get his head straight. Get him turned the right direction of focus. He could be a very good player on a team. But if you prioritize what Lloyd prayers thinks is important about his team culture is paramount. And Taurean prince is a bit of a challenge from a culture standpoint. So the hawks have some real, you know, thinking and talking to do about the path forward with terrarium Princeton, whether he's in their plans or not. Yeah. It just reading it from the outside in it. Looks to me like the message to Tori and has been hey, it's up to you. If you're going to be here or not. But if you want to be here, this is what you have to do. You gotta stop being a ball stopper. You gotta play defense every game as etcetera because what you know, if you're going to start a back court in the future. We'll trae young and Kevin hurt her. What you need at the three is a big defensive player that can provide some offense value in even though de'andre Brimberry doesn't have the length. The prince has. No, it's not nearly as bulky as France. He's had he had hand and wrist injuries both of his first two seasons. So it was tough for him to work in the weight room to add some bulk be he still will take bigger players than. Taurean well and do a better job defensively. Now, he now on the other side been be struggles to bring offensive value. But when he's able to attack is defender with a gerbil, he asked them value. But when he's when the matchup present something that's harder for that. We'll see. But it's interesting to me that you know, they're both drafted in the same draft class. Taurean went in the lottery of the difference between twelve and twenty one is is Matt massive and most draft classes. But you know, it does seem like memory is a culture fit where prince is just kind of an aunt ball. But the thing for me is there are certain players Greg that will play Balat harder on defense when they are on a team that is likely to win more games. And there are guys are like well for only a win thirty games not make the playoffs. Why should I bust my rear in the court? He he would not be the only player in the league of that profile. But that doesn't really matter turns out of the hawk see his teacher because they're demanding that everyone else on the court every night, and he should be the safest interesting. I don't think there's any chance he gets extended. I think you're right. There's some team comes calling on draft night. And the hawks could move up and get a player that they really like there have to be teams the league that just would desire a big shooter. I mean is released point is tough for differences the deal with he's got the wingspan..

"He wants to be in the playoffs. Yeah badly. The question is though Gore's has a great affinity for Andre Drummond. And I don't know where the grizzlies are on Andre Drummond that would potentially be the trade. I mean, polarizing player. Yeah. And he's twenty seven next year is almost twenty nine the year after that like the grizzlies it's stripped down and build around Jaren Jackson junior. And when you're doing that in in a tiny market you want to be cheap. You you don't want big bloated salaries on that roster next year the year after that? And so that to me drum and just doesn't make any sense for the grizzlies. Well, that's maybe why won't get done. But remember Ed Stefanski who is now running the running the pistons was in Memphis for five or six times. So there's the pistons from the word jump, they just don't fit. It's amazing. They've done as well as they have this year, honestly, because they're pieces don't fit they haven't all year Blake Griffin's playing point forward. Anyway, and doesn't do minimalist. Actually, he's all it's been a really good job. I wing Casey. But they're not they're not compelling team. So Detroit's out they're being very aggressive trying to figure out someone Memphis. But not my think, you should watch Atlanta. Who by the way is playing pretty well right now, they just they just had a really successful west coast trip by their standards trae young. Who has been swallowed up by Luca Danni pitch. Trae young as head a terrific last six weeks. Great numbers. John Collins who was where where was he? He was like he was in the teens wasn't. I don't think he was in the lottery they loved him right from the jump. They were talking about him in summer league in Vegas. How much they loved him. We'll use the day star this year. He just had a thirty five point game over the weekend. These Powell nineteenth nineteenth pick in two thousand seventeen. And that's why Travis Schlink got that job, by the way because of his role in helping you know, he was out there on the front lines when they write draft. Great rain, drafted Klay Thompson and stuff like that. So. So. Let's say I'm going to read you John Collins is numbers. Nineteen point seven points a game shooting thirty seven percents from three fifty eight percent from the line averaging almost ten rebounds a game. Pretty the percent from the floor from the floor. What did I say? Right. You said sorry. Dynamic. He's still great numbers are dynamic finisher who who stressed his range out at three point. And I'm telling you that the hawks they are my sleeper league past favorite. There are fun to watch team. Trae young has been absolutely spectacular for the Lao? Like Like you said. you said about the last six weeks. He's such a fun passer. The red had rookies is a nice player. They're they're a couple years away from. Yeah. They're a couple years away. Late a playoff team for sure. So they are in the market. Jeremy Lin is out there. I think is a good chance. Jeremy Lin's gonna get traded. To somebody who needs a. Quality guard. So I think Taurean prince who was the apple of there is a couple years ago. He got hurt this year. And that's what kind of opened the door for her and some of their other young guys Taurean prince vailable. I'll tell you the teams. Yeah. He's still on his rookie deal. A team that makes sense for prince. Is Oklahoma City? But I don't know Oklahoma City has to trade their out future. Picks their payrolls enormous. The Sixers for Taurean prince, maybe I also thought lasers although the blazers just picked up Rodney hood for relative cheap yesterday. But can't as more has been rumored. But I have not heard doesn't mean I'm the most plugged in guy in the world. But I have not heard worried about Kemp as more in the last week. They've been shopping him forever and ever and ever because they want to get off his money for next year. And that's the same reason why it's going to be really hard to move. It's funny. The hawks we're talking about how well they've been playing, and it's all relative. But for a for a rebuilding team. They've really been playing well for six weeks or so now they've been playing better than than was planned..

"Here's here. Oh, yeah. We are interested in both of them and Taurean prince. We are willing to listen on prince no for a player like him. You know? We'll definitely be willing to include a first rounder. Did didn't you already miratec went to Portland? No. That's why we're still interested. I see hoof. Yeah. I'm not sure if your own first rounder, you know, if we could get that twenty twenty one Miami first runner. No. I mean, we like Taurean prince just fine. But but we're not partying with that pick unless we're getting a star another star. I see I mean, so there's no other additional considering you don't really have any bad contracts that we could take back. Right. I mean that would help there. You know, we we kind of figured Marquel. Faults would be going to you in this trade it as part of the positive value for you. We understand that it's diminished, but we still think especially without the pressure for him to be able to work behind trae young. You guys aren't a long term plan. We we think it'd be a good place for him. That's a little tough. I mean, we don't want to undermine young. We've got hurt her at the two province are Celts. It's not undermining anybody. Well, but okay. I mean, it's still it's still a distraction. It's still the number one overall pick previously. So there's still a thought that I mean hawked university of maybe we could build them up, and he could be we do need some more scoring off the bench. And that's an interesting one. I mean, if it were me, I would think very seriously about this deal of like if you're including Foltz and your first, and we probably have to include Chandler just to make the the numbers. Work. Well, owes because you want to you Lyn. Also, maybe maybe we would do it. Without Lynn, you know. Yeah. I mean, so just false for deadman and prints work. So maybe it makes more sense to do it without Lynn. Yeah. And you're you're unprotected first round of the season. Yes, medically impossible. It's just just do it dad. Yes. Don't miss the playoffs. If you want to clear roster spot new wanted to take cork Mons. Okay. Get out of here. Maybe though, man I will. So if we're going to make prints avilable and deadman, we've still got Lynn out there. Are there any other contending teams that have some interest in those guys? It's Philly really the only one out there. I mean, we can always just hold onto prince to him, and he's still a part of this team in theory our future. I mean, Sacramento had interest in prince, but we've filled that's about with class. So there were scenarios where Utah would have been interested. But we already used a first year NASA to get Mike Conley. So we're we're pretty good for now. Well, who's out there still is a buyer because maybe I mean, there's been talk of how there are no sellers. It seems like actually are plenty of sellers right now. And we don't have that many buyers left. So maybe we should just look at who's a buyer and Philly. I mean, I know you're you're interested in some of these guys since you're still a buyer. But I mean, there's Miami is is looking to move mcgruder and Ellington, Dallas. We're looking to move. Barnes, a an old Phillies IBM parts, but Wes Matthews. You know, some of our other just briefly before we get into the buyers. There's I as Brooklyn I wanted just touch base with Minnesota to see whether sharp and Robert Covington are on how you're feeling about those guys because we'd be interested in them. I in. We've you the we've you them as part of our core. Okay. Just wanted to know him. Okay. That's good that probably anyone anyone other than Charlotte, Covington and towns would probably be available at this point in time. But I don't think we're really desperately looking to to make a move unless there's a think there's so many Memphis is still got temple into Michael Green out there as well. So I mean, if there are really no other buyers out there besides Philly and the Lakers. Well, Denver Denver's interested. We basically will. We're trying to do is. We have some a little bit of space where six million below the tax. We we have trade exceptions. We can bring in somebody. But we're not really giving up mentioned the wave assets..

"The tort Taurean prince. No, no, no, no. It was how does he L out rebound? Yeah. You know, you're right. Is it was Taurean prince? That's right. How does Yale out rebound Baylor, which is gave us one of the top ten ever ever press conference moments at instantly tournament, and there are good ones almost every single year. But the amount of disgust after defeat, and Tori, and prince's voice to that. Reporter who deserved that kind of answer. To me is his classic as Bryce ruining it for valpo, nineteen ninety eight that was just an all time moment, though, he says how how does Yale out rebound Baylor without taking into consideration that yell was actually rebounding team the bay they're all season, and so Tory and princes like, and I don't remember it word. He basically defines what a rebound is. So the ball comes off the rim. And then you grab it with two hands and you come down with it. And that's a rebound. And they did that more often than we did that it was just terrific because stupid question any answered it, so brilliantly and his tone words were perfect. Yes. The tone was perfect everything was about. It was perfect last thing on the big twelve you casually did mentioned TCU, which is eight and one coming off a twenty point victory Sunday afternoon. Your Indiana state sycamore had, you know, Indian state was rocking the Larry Bird throwbacks as well. And TCU wanted nothing to do. With that one. By twenty wasn't even close. I thought the best three point shooting team in America with the great back court in Jordan Barnes entire key. Well, they combined for twenty points and key only had three and three point range Indiana state regress to the mean harshly. I mean, we're talking got the Benz three of sixteen from deep and yes, TCU quality team going to be in the tournament with ease. Eight one gets a good win a simple win at home. And it is now also defeated SMU on the road had no issues with USC overall TCU actually has a lot of comfortable wins. And I'm be interesting to see what they do. Once we get in league play. It's a quality team. But I wanna see them play a little bit better competition, but they've got a solid resume so far. And we'll see what happens, and this is what year three I think, Jamie Dixon, which it feels like it's been longer. But this is only the third season. He's been there. It's just like I've been saying for a while and people underestimate of this around. In the country in state, MRs Jayco to more than people realize, I you know, what you're right. And it was I was foolish to think. Otherwise, I'm gonna carry this into with me into Christmas and potentially into January. So they can setting straight doubts to Jake Odem before we get out of here. I wanted to touch on something that I thought was interesting Kentucky honored its nineteen ninety three final fourteen that was coached by Rick Pitino on Saturday at Rupp arena twenty fifth twenty fifth reunion. Obviously and predictably Tina was not there mostly because it it's unclear how you K fans would treat him. Or maybe it's crystal clear how you fans would treat him. And so that's why doesn't showed up but Patino did tweet about the reunion said, hey, congratulations to the ninety three team. And in that tweet. He said, thanks Cal for reaching out. It was appreciated and so it was pretty clear that Cal had at least texted called something. Rick Pitino to see if he wanted to come to this game. And so Cal was asked about it afterward. And here's what he said. He said, quote, I just told Rick look you need to get up here..

"He is like a good, man. He's a good guy. Good guy that we on the program, and we had when you're school like Baylor. You're like this could be this is good PR that this man. I don't know every three years we go to the Sweet Sixteen. That's good for us. What I'm saying is Scott you kinda has become like the defacto like Kansas team. That's like, well, maybe Baylor has a chance to beat him one time outside of west Virginia's, maybe Baylor could beat them this one time. He's like herbs index. You know, it's not really a threat, but they're good enough to maybe if they put things together that could be good. But the last time that they were picked ninth to finish in the big twelve which is ten teams again ridiculous ridiculous made me so upset they got pick ninth. The last time in two thousand nine two thousand ten season. Yes, what happened that you? Yes. And they lost the Duke. Yeah. Team. Did they should have played that year when yell beat do or beat Baylor? And then they played Duke, of course, all say. All this is your line. Baylor is going to have a good year. I believe when Scott drew is doubted scotch rue rises to the occasion. When Scott, and the great thing up, the great thing about you say Baylor is going to have a good year is that we have no idea. What a good year means in Baylor basketball, terms, exactly twenty one. Top twenty five twenty one told you it was a good year. We'd sixteen they're going to tweet at you'll be like you dumb ass, you said Baylor have a good year. And you're like doing 21-game that, Tori. Taurean prince clip from two years ago moving on to another big twelve big twelve team with ten teams the team that was picked to finish last. Right. I'm calling him the huge ten. Yeah. Oklahoma state, the reason Oklahoma state in is ahead of Baylor. And not the other way round is because of the FBI stuff. Okay. Is that what is this is the first time in your life? That numbers do lie. These numbers there is no we're just like put it Oklahoma state's finished predicted to finish tents. But the intrigue in the interest is all there because Kevin Durant talked about on this off season. You see that he said that it was tough places. He had ever played Marcus smart did not agree. But. Is there a more feast or famine, I guess, it'd be the term I would use environment in college. Thanksgiving. Is there a more polar opposite? What whatever the you know, what I mean, a bigger Dakota me between an environment and not then Gallagher arena. Like when that place is rolling. They're playing Kansas. And they know they're gonna win. They're going to get the Bill self special and Kansas ranked number one in the country to places packed. It looks like the greatest environment in college basketball, and you're like holy shit. That is like how how does Oklahoma state ever lose a home game? And then you're you watch them like on a random Tuesday night. They're playing TCU, and you turned the game on and it's just empty seats everywhere. It's very strange me. They're not trying to tackle all mistake fans. I'm not either it because I'm sure there are a lot of reasons to our crisis actors. That's part of the Bill self special hires all the fads that come in for the the Kansas gave a little I don't know the place like it's one of those arenas the atmosphere. Looks awesome. And I really wanna see I've never been to a game there. But I also want to commit to going there because I know that I'm going to pick the wrong game. And I'm gonna go, and it'd be like this is terrible. Would what was I thinking? So I don't know. I I would like some answers on why this is because every blaming the thunder. Do you want to blame? Russell westbrook. Yeah. Or who? Yeah. Someone with guys named Royce. Whatever that writer that most. Yeah. Oh, always blame Okla. There's like five Oklahoma people. So people point at one, and they blame them feel bad for those guys. My one thing Oklahoma stages in general is a program. I hate that. Everyone has forgotten about Eddie Sutton, have they? Are we talk? No one talks about him. I don't hear him talk. I mean, they don't talk about Eddie sudden, they don't talk about John Lucas, and they don't I mean, I don't get the history..

We had some roundtables we did in one of the questions was, you know what bold prediction when you make for the season coming up and my prediction was, I thought Taurean prince will be traded before the two thousand nineteen draft. And it definitely was a reach at our time coming up with what would be a bold prediction. I'm not a bowl predictor. I'm not. Neither of us are hot take guys, but I do think Taurean prince from a personality standpoint is a little bit of an odd fit. Think that he's he's been a little bit quirky. I think that his coach ability is been hot and cold and you know when things have gone. Well, he's been very excited when things have gone. Well, personally, he say Mr Ben, very excited. Whether the team was winning or losing. And when he struggled, he's seemed to be a little more frustrated or reserved standoffish. And I like to see young players who play with the same passion and energy, whether they're playing well or not playing, well, things are going well. It's team not going well. They're giving it everything they have. You know, it definitely see that personality, John Collins. So I think for our impressive comes back to tangible 's and what level of mental physical commitment is seeking to make playing for Loyd Pierce. If they changed his role to take the ball out of his hands, if they ask him to be more of a fourth option on the court, if they give him dig different different assignments, how is he going to handle that? Is he gonna have the attitude of whatever the role coach Pierce gives me, I'm gonna give it everything I've got, or is he going to sort of disconnect and play a little bit less than gauged basketball? If his role is a little bit diminish. At times that will decide whether I think that he could thrive playing four a better team and that to me what is side, whether he has a future in the Lloyd Peirce era. For me, it was also a little bit weird that he was the one player on the team that was openly outwardly disappointed, seats, white train it. The only one, the only one. So here's what I'm looking for for this year last when when Brad Rowland had on lockdown hawks, what three weeks ago now seems like he asked us who's going to be the best player in the team. I think we all have set John Collins believe us by this year. And then Brian mentioned not going to be shocked if it's Taurean prince, you know, I had said is if Taurean prince is the best player on this team this year. That's so you very, very good because it's going to going to mean that he's become much more consistent and that's really year three. I think a very fair area by tak-taking to really say needle really needs to move in terms of consistency. And what I'm looking for is not a give us fifteen to twenty points erasing big game, but that's not what I'm looking for. What I'm looking for is in games in which he scores twenty one points than the game in which he scores say, ten points. He's made generally the same impact regardless of like what that offense of counting stats are because of what he's doing, moving the ball because of what he's doing on defense and those sorts of things. And I. Recap for Easter hoops. Third game of layer preseason, they got blown out by. Okay, see, but it was a plane. Retrea young was talking early in the shot clock and print saw Bo Stephen that of the Paul, George kind of from the top of the floor looking to try to get to the rim and cut up trae young, and it's a race down to the basically the restricted area and just blocked both of their paths. So the ram and there's this little thing like that..

"They will be to college park, which is a suburb just South south. of Atlanta last year one twenty four loss fifty eight off its a rating, twenty six serrated twenty-first net. Twenty six. They were fifth and assists percentage. So they were Jenner easing ball, bu-but generate shot at temps despite not being raised accessible an offense. But second highest turnover percentage wasn't all industry. There are a lot of guys like, say, Taurean prince that we're had had ball handling responsibilities for the very first time in their career. For example, shooting the ball twenty-second, effective field goal percentage. Twentieth true shooting percentage, three point MAB seven thousand attempts so they were still trying to get a lot of attempts up. Fifteenth percentage. Ninth in makes that's why they were. That's the single reason. They were not bottom five offense defensively. They gave up the fourth most attempts third-best percentage in the fourth most makes that was the biggest issue. They had start to finish last season. Milwaukee Bucks fans keep an eye on that. Taurean prince, Greg, fourteen point. One points a game. I don't think anyone predicted him getting close to fifteen point game score. After that, a lot of that came in like thirty five to forty percent four point performances at the end of the season when a lot of teams were playing really not NBA lineups shot thirty eight and a half percent from the three point line and five point six tenths per game that has to be the most positive belt last year apart from. Stuck down right next to getting John Collins nineteen and seeing the way he played as very young rookie. We'll get to him in a minute. Want to look at, you know. Thirty eight point five percents, how how did he do that? So. Spot-ups fiftieth percentile. Okay. For you. A guy that that earliest career, but you'd think a. Close to forty, percents shooter Leadbetter spot ups, pick and roll eighteen percent. He was earning pick and rolls for the first time in his life. ABA deepens this last year. We'll see how much he gets to do this year. Offscreen sixty one sixty first percentile. So you see a little bit of that some floppy and pinned down action that he knows how to operate in. But gerbil hand off and the hawks went from high pick and roll too wide. Debris NFL action last year seemed to suit him. Well, eighty fifth percentile. There sixty three point, nine percent effective. Philo percentage in DA chose. The hawks will continue to run the h. o. so we'll see if he's able to sustain that and use that action. He knows how to use as linked to get separation and get clearance for a shooter on drives. The first half season was pretty awful. He had a tendency to drive the ball all the way to the basket. No matter what the defense was presenting a hand twelve to one assist to turnover ratio on drive. So as a passer, he's driving to the basket. Once he was able to make the read, it was better. The second half of the season, he tended to be able to recognize, hey, I can't get all the rim here. So he I'm going to find five to ten foot shot and got better there. But Greg Taurean prince z. an average start small forged charter yet or does he have more work to do? I guess we're gonna talk about the defense, whether it's more like rookie year, sophomore year, but do you expect him Bisher to play like a league starter at the three? I am one who is skeptical about Taurean prince in his growth last year office simply. You know the opportunity for him to have the ball and get shots up was really wide given the fact that he was playing on such a gung inexperienced team in somebody's gotta take shots. So when he put a big big numbers, he played with a me first attitude..

"You need to have those cheap, especially role playing role playing guys who can grow alongside Europe, more established plate pieces. I think trae young is really the only guy with upside to be like a legitimate star on the roster. But I wish they had a couple of more of these like middling moral tation based guys who want to contract because they're guys, I like like Anderson memory, but they're not going to be around on that long. What's the hawks decided to make another investment in them? I don't think there's a ton of conversation that we need to have in terms of who is better worse than popular perception is because the hawks have been so under the radar. That it's, you know, it's kind of a little bit of everything you brought a face more. I think he's a good example. He had a really nice year last year just in a smaller visibility issue. Somebody I'm very familiar with because I covered him early early in his career and so happy with with what he's been able to do. I mean, earning the contract that he did and everything else, and I still would. I still think he's a better defender on one's than twos, but as he's getting a little older, I think that's shifting a little bit and he's he's also gotten much smarter and everything like that. But what I want to get into because I'm genuinely fascinated by this with the hawks is thinking about how is gonna run this rotation. And so not every team uses ten guys, but I think that's a healthy way of thinking about the hawks. So kind of like what the starting five would be and then who the next five would be in the rotation? It's very, very interesting. I think the starting five will almost certainly be a Dwayne deadman. John Collins, Taurean prince can't bays more and either trae rejoin million. I think it will be try young just for a number of reasons whether it be, you know, he's the. Face of the franchise. Now top five pick this team's not trying to win, etcetera, etcetera. But those six guys are the absolute locks to be in the rotation in prominent roles is the starting five plus Jeremy Lin after that gets a little bit more tricky. I do think Alex Len is probably the safest bet for his. We talked about earlier the investment in him. I think he's going to be the backup center from net from night one, and that makes sense. On a number of levels, the rest of the rotation is really up for debate. I think you know, in terms of guys who I guess the organization should prioritize the most. I would lean towards Kevin harder because he's the guy that just invested in the first round pick his very talented with that said, if they were trying to win earlier, if they think her is not ready to contribute early on, it wouldn't blow me away if he was not necessarily a prominent role in October because he he miss summer league's rookie all that stuff. And everything else is offered a bait, like they have fence Carter, for instance, like Vince Carter might be their best option at as a backup hybrid forward. But do they wanna play? Vince Carter every night at forty. Two years old on a team of three building. I have no idea. I've asked that question. He wants to play. He said, all the right things that his intro press conference when he came and I don't think he is interested just like never playing, but his age is a very interesting factor there. We talked about Justin Anderson. He's someone who I think should probably play, but we'll see a Amaury Spillman is like another guy, you know, first round pick Amar Spillman if they want to develop him should be on the floor this year. But as you most likely to be on the floor in Atlanta, reasonable likely to be on the floor in the g. league in Erie because he's not ready to play. So I didn't. There's like a definitive top seven that I know we're gonna play..

"That should be the magazine soon. Actually just had a cover story last month in the where are they now issue catching up with Sammy Sosa. Been in exile for a longtime from Chicago. He seems happy. I mean, he's also kind of as happy as can be when they're not been to the city where they made their fame in like over a decade, says it's kind of like strange saga, and he looks very different as anybody knows who's seen him recently. And he's kind of living this international life where he can go anywhere, but Chicago. So I always look for stories, always look for stories that are grounded in sports, but for which sports is almost an excuse to tell a broader story that has implications for people in the world. You know, outside the lines as they say. All right. Let's turn to some closing questions on my first question. I think we've probably already know the answer to, but I'll ask it anyway. What was your favorite sports moment? You know, I'm not gonna say the when you think. It was actually waiting for this for so long. But when Yale played Baylor in the NCAA basketball tournament a couple years ago, we've been waiting for them to make the tournament for like ever because it's always Princeton Penn, more or less. So we went up to providence where they happened to play, probably would have gone if it had not been in your father than that, and they beat Baylor, and we were there in person. You know, Taurean prince is not in the hawks of the star Baylor. He was furious afterwards, but I don't know. I don't want to say I'm jaded, but I go to a lot of sports games and I don't tend to have like emotional reaction to them too much, but that when I was a big one, right, what's your biggest pet peeve as a baseball writer? I tend to travel the northeast quarter or quite a lot, which means I tend to take Amtrak quite lock so well, I wouldn't say I'm a quiet car enforcer on Amtrak. I kind of leave that to, you know, usually older ladies to tell people to shut up or move to another car, but talking quiet cars, like one of the most annoying things you can do to me, I'll. Second that on the daily metro north, what's the riskiest thing you've ever done. It's not like personal risk. But I think in some ways, writing this book as I did, it was a significant risks. I'd never written a book before and Harry m signing on to write something that was going to do. Really, my professional reputation is going to Penn depend on a lot, and I'm going to have to trust myself to be able to write this book and make it good in essentially three months, and I'm gonna contractually agree to do this, and it was really a new world for me. So professionally anyway, you know, writing this book is certainly the biggest risk I've taken even though and some ways it was kind of I had no choice because fate seemed to command it. What teaching from your parents as most stayed with you? I mean, it's not like an aphorism or anything, but really is just, you know, I'm trying to say it in a way that it's not. That's not like a catchphrase, but just, you know, kind of treat other people as you as you would wanna be treated yourself, perhaps no great insight there. But I think it's very easy, especially. In our current environment, our current political environment to not use that as a as the golden rule. But you know, for me, I try to what information do you read that you get a lot out of that other people might not know about? You know, I tried to read academic journals when I come across their often cited in news reports like, oh, a new study says, this new study says that it's kind of quickly summarized and maybe three hundred words or something like that. Usually that's not all there is to us if there's one that I might think can apply to my work or when I'm just interested in, I'll try and get a hold of the full article and it is true. They're hard to find like you can't find them on the internet like you usually have to subscribe to journals that are very expensive unless you happen to be a member of university or something and have that access..
