Philadelphia Eagles to start Jalen Hurts at QB over Carson Wentz

"Jalen hurts time in philadelphia and jalen hurts will make his first. Nfl start sunday against the new orleans. Saints so welcome to the league young man you go against a really good carson wentz back up her and while this seems crazy to all of us it's also kind of crazy to doug peterson i don't take carson wentz out of it. I didn't expect us to be in this situation back in april. So let's just start there. Listen everybody around jalen or around. Carson has to has to elevate their game. We can't do this. They can't do this alone right. They can't they can't do that. It's impossible to to attack. You know an opponent would just one guy so But i fully expect our guys. I play hard and do everything they can to try and win along perfectly clear here what's become crazy about. This is not the way that all of this went down because it became very obvious that a quarterback change needed to be made. But just the fact that here we are in twenty twenty and we'll probably see tastes hill against jalen hurts in this game i key. Let's start with you. What do you think of the eagles finally making this new well. It's about time. I think we you know a lot of the media around and been talking about this for weeks on of weeks but as they say better late than never and i think it's jalen hurts his job to lose and i'm talking about long term. I think when you look at the situation. And i've been around a lot of quarterbacks in my time in organizations and when you say here's a guy who has a opportunity on a two to three games sample that he could take this job and make it his own. He cannot be coursing wins. What i mean by that is he cannot play like carson with. He has to play like the jalen hurts. That was drafted in top fifteen picks in the national football league. That guy that we saw at oklahoma the guy that we saw a brief time in alabama. If he does that and he can ignite this offense. Then it's his job to lose. Come next off season. I think the philadelphia eagles are looking for the same things. I think when you look at it they say okay. If jalen does what he's supposed to do we go into the offseason with a quarterback battle. Ota's as many camp training camp. Give the up to carson wentz. Because that's what we're gonna do because you follow the money and then you put carson carson wentz carson jalen carson with a short lease. You say you got two to three games to prove yourself and if not we go snatch twenty one is hurts. His team were done which it. That is the way you do it.

"At Lambeau Field Green Bay after their win against Chicago. They're tracking right now to be one of the teams that not only can win the division but could be making a deep run into the playoffs. The Philadelphia Eagles right this second are a team that looks lost offensively. Off their loss against Seattle on Monday night. There 37 and one questions surrounding the quarterback. This is not an easy place to go when you're trying to get right again, Although Philly went to Green Bay and one last year Well, let's start with Carson Wentz, because I mean, I know in up in Philly. It's like most popular guy. The beat up on right now is Carson Wentz. I watched that game Scott he has no chance. I mean, that offensive line right now is not protecting. He's getting hammered back there, and I don't see any separation from the guys outside. And so everyone wants to jump on Carson wins. I don't think that's the problem. Not that he couldn't play better and make better decisions. I think he's pressing. I think you'd get hit a time. And with that, that's a bad combination. When you go play Green Bay because they got some good pass rushers. Impressive Smith. And is it Is it area Smith, So this is not a good match up? I don't think there's a good matchup on the planet right now for the Philadelphia Eagles, because you're not a very good football team with all the injuries and things they have going on Green Bay. I agree with the big question of Green Bay won't happen this week is can they stop the run? Physical teams run the ball and beat him up a little bit, beat up that defense a little bit, and that's gonna be the test for them Come playoff time. The Atlanta Falcons kind of shocked the world last week, beaten up on the Las Vegas Raiders. Now at four and seven, they go into New Orleans to take out the Saints. Saints e mean, they almost got by last week in Denver against the team without a quarterback, But at nine and two right now, the Saints can make the playoffs this week with a win and a Chicago Los and they're tracking toward a division crown. And right now the number one seed in the NFC? Yeah, when I was dominating, it's like, Where is this better? Hello. Um And Quinn might start his job. Thomas to be Trump might still be here. If you play like this. At the beginning of the year. I was a great game by them much tougher division rival obvious these team teams bad blood over the years, going back and forth. And so in the saints playing for, you know, working towards the playoffs, thinking about ceding right now and everything else Still no. Drew Brees tased him Taysom Hill back there. I'm still wanting to see the game. We're tasting Hill has to win the game, throwing it. This might be it because Matt Ryan and that offense they could score some points. We saw it against the Las Vegas Raiders If they score points. How comfortable Well, Sean Payton b with taste mail saying, Hey, we got to drop back 30 to 40 times and we gotta win the game with your right arm. That's what I want to see. Detroit Lions lost at home on Thanksgiving Day and fired their head coach and general manager. Now they go to Chicago to take on a Bears team right now is also in disarray. Detroit is four and seven. Chicago's offensive struggles continued, although the defense did not look especially good against Green Bay last week, the Bears or five and six. Yeah, I still believe in the defense, so they had a bad week. It's hard when you're got no help from the offense. Bears gonna go with Mitchell. Too risky again. I don't think they have the answer Quarterback. I think they're going to be significant changes is my guest and we've already seen the changes up in Detroit. So here's two teams bear still have a chance at the playoffs. If you look at the record, but the way they're playing, I don't think they have any chance. The Lions the just playing out the season..

"And that's why I'm very curious to see what he turns into, because I don't think it's a debate of who's gonna be the next quarterback of the Saints. You asked me this summer, I would have said Once you're Bree's retires, and I thought this was his last year, going into it. It was going to be James Winston. He was gonna get that opportunity, right? Well, now they just went to taste some hell. It shows that they don't believe in Jamis. Winston and James Winston will be elsewhere to find that next chapter in his career. So now it's gonna be tasting Hill next year starting quarterback for the ST And Drew Brees and Carmichael find a way to make him successful. Potentially I think it's gonna be long lasting success. Ah, Long run of taste the mills of starting quarterback right now, if you asked me yesterday l I would say no. But how about that? Take sizzling hot Take from run! Brady pup, Inga! Super Bowl champion linebacker. Jason, who already better than 25, or 26, starting quarterbacks in the league. And he will one day be in the same class. The Rogers My homes. Watson. Roethlisberger Wilson. Yeah, yeah. Take that. What a take. For some reason, Theodora may just repeating that I feels if that will end up one day on freezing cold takes once again, just a disclaimer. It's not my opinion. I disagree with the opinion. That's Brady for Pinkas. Opinion your on the record, so don't work on the record. But you never know. People just isolate that one clip and building. I know you said it, you moron. It wouldn't be me. You sure about that? No, I don't know. Looking at you through the glass right now. I could see you stabbed me in the back. 855 to 1 to four. CBS on the Zack Help Show Mark in California. Next up on CBS Sports Radio. Marky Mark. What's up? What's up, that we ain't talking Giants? We talking Steelers, OK? Oh, what about it was when he got from it. I think they're the biggest 11 0 fraud I've ever seen in football. Like they are my buddies, a huge Pittsburgh fan. And yesterday he told me that he thinks Chase Claypool. Is going to be the best wide receiver in football next year. Just how pumping you just said. You know Taysom Hill. Get out of here. Yeah, but at least Chase play pool. I don't think you'd be the best receiver in the league. But is he on the path to being maybe a star one day? Sure. He's having a very good rookie season. 10 total touchdowns. He's been good. You've been good, but the best known I literally went on record to tell my friend I was like, Listen, I'm gonna watch every single Pittsburgh game with you because if Kansas City were to play piss for right now, Kansas City wins by like three touchdown it below out later. I don't know if it's a blowout. But I say this without hesitation. I pick the Kansas City Chiefs to win the game because, for example, look at Chiefs and Buccaneers. That game was the block if you watched it, and it ended up being a three point game, So could something like that happened?.

"So if he's available, especially in any type of PPR format, I think he is definitely a must add, and he's available in over 50% of lead right now, so he's worth what someone to keep an eye on Michael Pittman for the colt. You guys saw that nice route that he ran, get his first NFL touchdown against the Packers. I'm sure he's been pretty good over the last three games. 18 tire gets really kind of He's kind of become, you know their biggest asset in the passing game, see what the y Hilton is no longer Really productive at this point, So I think Michael Pittman is somebody who's worth nabbing. Um Tim Patrick has returned from injury of late and He is somebody who is worth adding. If you need a little bit of wide receiver help, I'll say this. I mean, at this point casing Hill was the big story. If you're not aware of this point, he has lost his tight end eligibility. And ESPN leagues. He has Yes, yes, They did that this morning, and that was kind of expected at this point. The one thing I'll say is, if you want to get cute. I'm not sure. You can. If you're willing to just keep your lineup as is, I do believe that your lineup will carry carry through. So if you were happy with taste in house production, and this is one of those situations where it will create a lot of controversy amongst your league made You have to know what kind of league you're in. Go, you know, going forward, But if you really like the production you got from Taysom Hill it typing into women. And you're happy with your lineup for the week and you? You know, your league is cut throat and you know, however, it is set up. You could theoretically keep tasting hill in the tight end spot as long as you're willing to basically Abandon your roster and that make any moves. But in order to make any moves, you have to move taste in hell out of the tight end slot Well, and he knows where anymore you mean, what would literally any move on the roster? You'd have to literally really anything. Oh, yes. So it is, for instance, you wanna make a pick up? The ESPN will not let you go forward without moving Taysom Hill out of your tight end slot. So there's an actual loophole there where you could keep your lineup the same. Even though he doesn't count as a tight end anymore. You'll still have tight and distinction for this week. He's locked into the tight end slot until you move him out of there. So you know, grandfathered in now, now this That is the true definition of cheating, though I do think like that last week, it was different because he had tightened eligibility this week. If you leave him in knowing knowing that you're doing this I definitely think that there's an element of cheating into that aspect. But you know every league, some leagues and more cutthroat than others. So feel free to handle it. However, you would like I will say, I've seen people talk about tasting helping a viable option as a starter at the quarterback spot, and the running ability obviously makes you know gives him a nice floor. But I have a hard time putting him in the top 10 because I don't know if anybody watch that game closely. You even the big place that he threw he drastically under through Emmanuel Sanders and a completion that you know that really had no business being completed. There was another ball to Michael Thomas. That he just didn't seem to know where he wanted to go with the ball, and Thomas makes a great athletic play on it to make a catch. So I'm still suspect of using Taysom Hill at the quarterback spot, but The running ability that he gives you gives you a nice floor. Merkin men mentioned Julio Jones with that hamstring injury. Russell gauge is probably gonna be a little bit of influx of targets because Julio Jones Is likely to miss this week. I would imagine Jalen Reagor for the Eagles is somebody you know their first round pick who has been who's seen 18 targets over the last couple weeks and with a Nice matchup against the Seattle Seahawks secondary on Monday night. He's a viable option who is available in over 50% of leagues, So I think the key names but like 11, last thing I'll add, is we're kind of at the point of the season. Carm, where You know, we're closing in on the playoffs here. So I think you kind of have to look at which running backs who are like handcuff type players who are available on the waiver wire who are better than any options you have on your roster right now because you don't want to have to fight through waiver wires next week given injury happens to like, say, Delvin Cook this week and then Alex Alexander Madison immediately becomes the number one ad. If you get ahead of it, and you have the roster room, go pick up Alexander Madison this week and then if something happens to cook while you've got yourself an RB one when the fantasy playoffs are all around, So it's it's those kind of moves. That at this point in the season, I think, help you get a little bit of an edge as you're trying to close in on the play offs like it's smart. Start planning for the playoffs if you're in all right, great stuff. Melo will talk to you later. Thanks. All right, boys. Ocular. There's Jeff Miller at Jeff Underscore Mello. Remember every Sunday morning 8 to 9 right here on ESPN 1000 before the Bears pregame show. He's got a full hour. Ah, fantasy talk where.

"But as promised, right now we're joined by somebody. Who represents NFL media. He is the pride of cow. He is a gaucho parent, and he is host of the pass it down Podcast with Mike and Natalie Silver. We're joined by Mike Silver. What's going on My Cario. Great, Jim. How you doing? Good bye. Good. Great to have you back. Thanks so much Lots to cover my stomach. Just jump right into it. What did you make of Sean Payton's decision to start tasting Hill instead of Jamie's Winston. You know, it's interesting. I did talk to Sean a lot over the offseason when he's thinking about signing Jamie's and You know, he felt that when he got Jamis into his system and taught him the Saints ways that You know that turnover issue would be severely mitigated and you know, he's a former number one overall pick. This could be driven his successor at the same time, he obviously is intrigued by face and fellow is very high on a And around the time he actually signed J. Mrs when he extended Taysom Hill, and he was very open with both guys. And he just said, Look, this is the plan. If through goes out in a given game, we're gonna put Jameson and if he goes out for a while, like last year We're gonna give taste on the run. And with all of that said he told me last night that he wrestled with the decision a lot because he has been so impressed with Jamis Winston During this time he's had him so I think all of this leads to you know, aim or prolonged competition that likely will take place as soon as Tru Breeze hangs it up, which I likely believe will be after this season. And you know this was a chance for tasting Hilda to show what he could do, and John told me last night. I do believe you know, my instinct tells me that the quarterback of the future is on our roster right now. We just don't know which one of the two it'll end up being my silver from NFL media is joining us. So Mike also take me back to before the game started yesterday. You called your shot. You said that you thought that too, Uh, was going to have a problem with the Broncos in their defense is well is the Dolphins have been playing over the past month? What did you see? See that made you say that you know the last week on my show the aftermath, which airs Mondays from noon to three Pacific on NFL network. I quoted Ah, band near and dear to my heart, but I know you don't hate And that's the grateful Dead on the quote was when life looks like easy street. There is danger at your door from Uncle John's band. Had seen two was quote saying, You know, it's not the NFL harder. It's easier than I thought it would be. And just the way things have gone so well for the Dolphins for the last two weeks, you know, and Brian floor is that you know they're doing a great job. Over there and have injected themselves in the playoff race. But you know, Vic Fangio's automatically is a problem for even really, really savvy, experienced quarterbacks, and and I just had a feeling that too. It was gonna The things or think he was seeing things that he hadn't seen before. You know, every once in a while, I my instincts were right. So I did call that shot and I talked to Fangio both on Saturday. And after the game, I asked him on Saturday If he had seen to us quote he said, Yeah, I saw it. I said you're going to use it. You said not. We have so many issues over here. I'm just I'm gonna stick to what we need to do better, but Obviously I was able to capitalize on I'm guessing they did use that Mike Service joining us. I mean, one thing to think it If you're too up entirely another to say it, you might. The Packers lost to the courts and overtime. Yesterday you have peace on NFL dot com. In fact, last month about the relationship between Matt Leflore and Aaron Rodgers, the piece was born out of a conversation that you on the floor had on your podcast. What's your sense as to how that relationship Is this year compared to what it was last year. Well, you know, I always thought your two was going to be a potential job. And, you know, we certainly saw that like with Matt Ryan and Kyle Shanahan. One bat LeFlore was on that staff in Atlanta. S so ideally, you know, you're one. You're acclimating of the offense. You're getting through your stylistic issues, and then you have a chance in your two to make a jump. Obviously, this was the weird to stop season ever. But I do think they use the zoom sessions really well and with offensive coordinator in the saddle, Hackett and here's the other thing, Jim When they picked Jordan love and that bomb was dropped. I think it became very clear very quickly to Aaron Rodgers that that was not a coaching decision that was an organizational decision, but in this organization The general manager, Brian Gouda cuts has the power to do those things. And you know this was not that leflore saying. Hey, man, my guys old. Get me the next guy. Not that he was anti Jordan love, but, you know, I just think It's not. It's not the various or in city is. I just think that there's a very clear Us against them Bond and not like Oh, we hate our management. But just like, Hey, we're all in this together. Now you're our guy I and whatever management does Najma does. So I think you combine that with the way Erin's handled it all which is to Embraced your in love personally and kind of compartmentalized. All of that created a pretty good environment. Mike Silver is joining us once again. All right, Mike. I'm moving through it. But you had an amazing threat on Twitter last week breaking down what happened between Giants head Coach Joe Judge and the now former offensive line coach, Marc Colombo. What was the history with those two?.

"We were talking about tasting Hill a little earlier in the show, and I want to know whether you believe that Taysom Hill can be a full time starting NFL QB. Perhaps we're about to find out that's gotta be Raiders cheeses, a good game. It's going head to head against Survivor. Syria's by the W W E in my household. Maybe I have probably have one streaming on the computer and the other upon the TV. I've been using Survivor Syriza's blackmail against my son all weekend. You know, you wanna watch Survivor series. You want me to let you stay up and watch Survivor Series on Sunday? You better clean your room. You know that kind of thing. It's weird cause he's he's now at the age where I just got to the age records say stuff like Clean your room. I never told him to do that or until literally like yesterday. But that's a that's a marquee game in the NFL. I think the other big story line in the NFL today and and perhaps the biggest story line overall, it is tasting Hill if he is indeed going to start as Adam Schefter reports because there's a lot of question marks there, and whenever the Saints have said that he's their quarterback of the future, people have really doubted it. People have thought it's a bluff. People even think the idea that he might be starting is a bluff, and they'll actually go to Jamie's Winston, but they did give me two year $21 million contract. Do you give that to a gadget player? And you know Jamie's witches only on a $1 million.1 year deal. I think Hill has clear talent. I bet you Sean Payton's excited to see what he could draw up with Taysom Hill QB after having the boring Drew Brees quarterback for all those years, I kid, you know, obviously, they want to Super Bowl together and Drew Brees one of the best quarterbacks ever, but you know, even when you Have something good going when you've been doing it for 15 years or whatever it is, you want to change it up a little bit, So I bet you there is a part of Sean Payton. That's excited to see what he could do with Hill. The question is, can hill refine his passing ability enough for this to be viable? On more than a play by play or week by week basis, you know? Is he actually an option at quarterback going forward, He's only thrown 18 passes in the NFL. And none of them have looked that crisp to me doesn't look like oh, that those are the mechanics of a starting quarterback. But you never know He has everything else. You know he could run. He's big, strong. He could shred shut off tackles. I'm sure all of the options with Camaro and Thomas and Sanders are going to be difficult to guard with his physical ability. What can you do The precision stuff. Can you drop back? Boom boom! Let it go and hit that slant pattern, you know, or or throw to the outside to the sidelines. Can you do that? 55 to 1 to 4 to 27. Do you believe and taste them Hills ability to be a starting QB. Lets go to Brady in Windsor, Ontario. Brady, you're up next here on CBS Sports Radio. No. The morning Robin. The first of all condolences to John for losing his mom. I lost my mom 17 years ago in age 86. But when? At first I thought Hill was just dead. Eric. It's sort of out there is a gimmick, but when they find you that two year $21 million contract out there, you just don't find a gimmick player especially a quarterback for that kind of that kind of money, and especially to replace, um Ah, Ah Hall of Famer like breeze Now Ah, with Peyton being an offensive genius, you know that they'll probably be a lot of our Pio and wildcat and other sorts of Formations for hill, and I'm pretty sure he'll can probably do that, along with his strength and size and everything, but, uh, will be interested in seeing whether you know he can throw the ball downfield and And if he can, you know really a pass from the pocket. Of course, when you have weapons like Sanders and Camaro and Thomas, that helps a lot, But yeah, I'm gonna be interesting guest to see just how Hill does course They're not. They don't have exactly You know, threatening competition for the next three or four weeks in and health, too. So I think that's what what? That Peyton's probably thinking that they could get by with him until brief comes back and then you know, breathe Bay retire after this year because he's still be 42. I guess in January, retire after his injury, he remains left fractured ribs and a punctured lung, and that's it, But I probably would, too. And so with Winston only there for one year, and I'll even always older than with Winston. I think he's 30 and I know Winston will be 27 in them January. Maybe they figure that You know they can have they could have Hill be their quarterback at he could prove whether he is there isn't then if he isn't there. Quarterback, you know, I don't think that Winston is going to be so they could maybe draft one of these guys in the 2021 draft, but that's what I think. Is that Is that what Peyton's thinking? And thanks for putting me on Robin? No, of course. I agree with that. Almost all of that thinking, uh, I agree that you know you have to evaluate him and in real game situations. And if they had a replacement level Q B If let's say who is a good example of a replacement level Q. B in the NFL at this moment in time as something me right off the top of my head, Ryan Fitzpatrick to a little bit better than replacement level. So somebody a little worse than Ryan Fitzpatrick was coming in for the The Saints and they had their their schedule coming up. I think you say two and two Right, like obviously when a quarterback, but when they've got the Falcons twice, they've got the Eagles and they've got the Broncos. I think that's that's too into considering the quality of the Saints team. So it's a good time to bring in Taysom Hill. You know that that Would would put them if they were to into that would put them in nine and four with three weeks left to play Kansas City, Minnesota and Carolina to close out. I think you almost sure they could get one of those three games, which gives them 10 wins. What's almost assuredly, especially with an expanded field would put them into the playoffs. Now they want to hire see than that, but you get the point and this is the opportunity. Where you get to see you know what tasted Milken do and whether you know if Drew Brees is retirement is imminent. Let's say this is his last year in the league. What do you do? What do.

Now, with Peyton being an offensive genius, you know that they'll probably be a lot of our Pio and wildcat and other sorts of Formations for hill, and I'm pretty sure he'll can probably do that, along with his strength and size and everything, but, uh, will be interested in seeing whether you know he can throw the ball downfield. And And if he can, you know really a pass from the pocket. Of course, when you have weapons like Sanders and Camaro and Thomas, that helpful lot But, yeah, I'm going to be interesting to see just how Hill does course They're not. They don't have exactly, you know, threatening competition for the next three or four weeks in and help, too. So I think that's what what? That Peyton's probably thinking that they could get by with him until brief comes back and then you know, breathe Bay retire after this year because he's still be 42. I guess in January, retire after his injury if it remains 11, fractured ribs and a punctured lung, and that's it. But I probably would, too. And so with Winston only there for one year And even though he's older than with Winston, I think he's 30. And I know Winston will be 27 them January. Maybe they figure that you know they can have. They can have Hill be their quarterback. And if he can prove whether he is there isn't then if he isn't there. Quarterback you know, I don't think that Winston is going to be so they could maybe draft one of these guys in the 2021 draft, but That's what I think is, if is what Peyton's thinking. And thanks for putting me on Robin. Yeah, no, of course. I agree with that. Almost all of that thinking. I agree that you know you have to evaluate Hill in real game situations and if they had a replacement level Q B If let's say who is a good example of a replacement level Q. B in the NFL at this moment in time as something me right off the top of my head, Ryan Fitzpatrick to a little bit better than replacement level. So somebody a little worse than Ryan Fitzpatrick was coming in for the The Saints and they had their their schedule coming up. I think you say two and two Right, like, obviously want a quarterback, But when they've got the Falcons twice, they've got the Eagles and they've got the Broncos. I think that's that's too into considering the quality of the Saints team. So it's a good time to bring in Taysom Hill. You know that that Would put them if they were to into that would put them in nine and four with three weeks left to play Kansas City, Minnesota and Carolina to close out. I think you almost sure they could get one of those three games, which gives them 10 wins, which almost assuredly, especially with an expanded field would put them into the playoffs. Now they want to hire see than that, but you get the point and this is the opportunity. Where you get to see you know what tasted Milken do and whether you know if Drew Brees is retirement is imminent. Let's say this is his last year in the league. What do you do? What do you do? Oh, well, you've got to find out. If it's Taysom Hill, right? You've got to find out and is there any better trial than by fire?.

Want me to let you stay up in what Survivor Series on Sunday? You better clean your room. You know that kind of thing. It's weird because he's he's now at the age where I just got to the age records say stuff like clean your room. I never told him to do that or until literally like yesterday. But that's a that's a marquee game in the NFL. I think the other big story line in the NFL today and and perhaps the biggest story line overall, it is tasting Hill if he is indeed going to start as Adam Schefter reports Because there's a lot of question marks there. And whenever the Saints have said that he's their quarterback of the future, people have really doubted it. People have thought it's a bluff. People even think the idea that he might be starting as a bluff, and they'll actually go to Jamie's Winston, but they did give me two year $21 million contract. You know? Do you give that to a gadget player? And You know James, with his only on a $1 million.1 year deal, I think Hill has clear talent. I bet you Sean Payton's excited to see what he could draw with Taysom Hill QB after having the boring Drew Brees quarterback for all those years, I kid, you know, obviously they want a Super Bowl together and Drew Brees one of the best quarterbacks ever. But you know, even when you Have something good going when you've been doing it for 15 years or whatever it is, you want to change it up a little bit, So I bet you there is a part of Sean Payton. That's excited to see what he could do with Hill. The question is Can hill refine his passing ability enough for this to be viable on more than a play by play or week by week basis, you know, is he actually an option at quarterback going forward, He's only thrown 18 passes. In the NFL, and none of them have looked that crisp to me doesn't look like oh, that those of the mechanics of a starting quarterback, but you never know He has everything else. You know he can run. "855 to 1 to four CBS 855 to 1 to 4 to 27 coming up here next, and the Battle Royale, it coaches. I don't think anybody could get Mike Grable. I want to thank Joe Judge Marc Colombo personally. As I get to redo of fun topic. I'm gonna bring Connor and on it. It's gonna be a fantastic time I get to look forward to that coming about 1 40. PM Eastern. Wanna get Sean Payton and then I got to get back to better office Burger because there's two separate audiences that could here and I want to be able to say this in front of my home One first was Sean Payton. Boy. It better go your way tomorrow. It tastes of Hill. I think this is hubris run amok. I know. I know. Sean Payton knows more about football than me. You everybody out there listening unless Unless somebody out there less. Bill Belichick happens to be listening to this show right now, which he's not. He knows more about football than you do, and he knows more about football than I do. And he knows Taysom Hill. I don't know, Tasting Hill. I cannot believe he started tasting Hill in this football game. He compared him to Steve Young. I I'm flabbergasted. The guys over 30 years old Now. He has been injured before and he's a good story. I don't have anything against Taysom Hill personally. But to say that you're gonna start this guy. And have him run your offense and throw passes and do these things, Boy. You better hope you better hope it goes that way. Cause I think what Sean Payton is done. I think what Sean Payton has done has been pretty remarkable. Throughout his career, he has helped Drew Brees. Drew Brees is a great quarterback in his own right, but he has helped Drew Brees tremendously. He's worked with Drew Brees. Very, very well. He got Teddy Bridgewater, a second contract in the second lease on life, and Carolina. Teddy Bridgewater can help himself. I I do trust Teddy Bridgewater to take care of the football complete most the passes. I wouldn't trust him for a Hail Mary. But how many times do we see that? How many times do we need that Champagne is not a good jobs? Good football coach. Good offensive mind. This. This some skeptical of Like I wanted to see whether or not I was right on Jamous. Cause I don't know if you could do it twice. I don't know if you're going to re energize Jamis Winston's career, and maybe Jamie's still gets that chance, But now that Jamie's sits behind Taysom Hill, what are you going to do with Taysom Hill? That's gonna be so different cause I've seen tasting. He'll go in there and when he's lined up in the slot, and when he's lined up in the backfield and doing other things, he could do some some interesting things for an offense. Also seen him kind of flooded up. See them kind of mess it up. And I won't even apologize. I'm just not a believer in the guy. I'm not a believer. I feel that if you were that good And you're behind one of the all time greats. So there is a plausible answer for this because a healthy Drew Brees, you're not sitting for anybody. That's true. What you pay tasting Hill to stay and be a back up and be your quarterback and Be the guy who flourishes. I don't know if that's going to pay off this week. I don't know if that's gonna pay off over a given period of time. Hubris is a rough word. And it's a scary emotion. And I fear that might be playing into it. I know Sean Payton knows a ton. I know. He's one of the most powerful coaches in the NFL. You do as well. I just don't believe that this is gonna work for him. 855 to 1 to four. CBS with another quarterback that I think it's been working for has been better off this burger. And I have been fit to be tied with Ben Roberts Burger. I opened up the show with this earlier today, and I wanted to bring it back in this one because I wasn't on locally in Cleveland in Amman locally in Cleveland now and I have to be able to get it off my chest. Anybody knows anything about this show and Connor's gonna learn soon. I will speak to you as a fan. Sometimes I'll speak to you as an analyst. Most of the time and every now and then I take the headset off and I speak as a fan. And so I'll take the headset off and I'll speak to use a fan right now. That throughout my entire life, I've not been able to stand the Pittsburgh Steelers and I've not been able to stand Ben Rafa's burger while he's been a Pittsburgh Steeler. Part of that's my own damn fault for how I grew up. Part of that's my own team's fault for them, not being able to pull their head out of their ass to do something really, really great over the last 20 years. Has it been better office? Berger's fault hasn't been the Pittsburgh Steelers fault. But you know what? I'm a fan, and I don't want to blame own team. I wanna blame them. That's me. Talking to you is a fan and telling you how I feel about Ben Roethlisberger's of fan, however, and I've said it a million times as a fan and talking football only I have hated the Pittsburgh Steelers, and I've hated Ben Roethlisberger. But I must respect you to hate you. If I don't respect you, I don't care. And if I don't care, how can I hate something I don't care about. I respect the Steelers and I respect Ben Roethlisberger's play. And so because of that, and because I respected so highly because it stands right directly, in my way of my own personal happiness as a football fan, I have to hate him. I've hated him for a long time. And I've wanted to tear him that I've been waiting for the other shoe to drop my entire life. Because when I watch bedrock, this burger play over these last 17 years. I've been disappointed as an analyst Yes, As a fan. I'm fine with him only winning two Super Bowls. I'm fine with the Steelers only winning two Super Bowls. Over that time. I was happy to see them lose Super Bowl 45. The Green Bay Packers, but to talk to you again as an analyst Now I've been disappointed by Ben Roth Asberger's career. I think, with his size, his speed his natural God given ability. We talk about Tom Brady as the best quarterback to ever play the position. Whether or not you would argue that and argue for young or Otto Graham? Whoever might be that's not the argument I'm trying to have. But if most of us believe that Tom Brady's the best because he plays in this generation Then that makes me that much more disappointed in Ben Roethlisberger. Rafa's Burger 6 FT five. And his playing weight. He's probably the size of some offensive lineman in the league. Least in the past, he's been his foot speed has been that of top and tight ends. He probably would have a good catching ability if he needed to. He has the taste. Same type of size of what I talk to you about His feet will probably be a good as any left tackle out there and natural ability. This is a guy who's been a hybrid in his own right. We just haven't noticed. He's big. He's strong. He could stand there could take hits. He's hard to bring down He can move. He could do all these things. But we think of him as a statue s quarterback, because we know we've seen the arm. We've seen the delivery. We've seen the throw. We've seen the big arm. We think of it that way. But when you put his entire resume together, Of his physical prowess. One of the best prospects I've ever seen. And I thought the best example of this was the Tennessee game. Knew Ben. Not as mobile..

According to reports tastes, Um Hill will start at quarterback for the Saints tomorrow, and the Swiss Army knife has taken snaps all over the field, and it's four year NFL career. There's only thrown 20 total passes. Hill was given the nod over former Heisman winner Jameis Winston, who threw for over 5000 yards just last season, so work or shoot, even though Jay misses more experienced starting Taysom Hill was the right move for Sean Payton. Considering he has said in the past that should that taste of milk could be the next Steve Young. You know what Mm hmm. Yeah. You got Tampa Bay right there. I'm still going. I got to say work. Work, I would have said shoot, because if they had now they're the number two seed right now in the NFC. So you're not going to just say I willy nilly, whatever. And you could do whatever you want. Now, you're gonna have to do it and look at this. And in this case and say, if you lose a game, then you're seven and three Tampa Bay. Even though they don't want the tiebreaker, Tampa Bay would be seven and three with you. It has a possibility to be eight and three at that junction. So you have opportunities to lose and lose your division and then have to go on the road. This is hubris here. This is Sean Payton telling the world he knows more about football than we do. He knows more about offense, and we do. And even though I think tasting Hill has what 10 Total completions is an entire career. He's going.

"It's a bad situation. I'm not so what he's talking about this a whole story about stick to the script right. Now Bro misleading the franchise offensively by Michael. Thomas is not there. You still don't have a hall of fame quarterback can you stick to? The grass is not greener. We'll take some. He'll brother is greener if you wed. It withdrew brand. He let me ask. You can ask you. Just please please let me ask you really a saints. Alum a same great super bowl champion. Are you really telling the Horn of beating a one in three? At the time chargers team led by a rookie quarterback in his third start victory lions the same surmise super bowl favorite. So I just need to know Reggie tonight. Lower my expectations now because they won the game. That's what it appears trying to convince me to do. I mean that's the whole point is to win the game. What do you mean? That's who he played again. S The main point though ballgame spelled period the Seattle Seahawks. Have one of the worst has defenses in the league right now but they undefeated and that's off that matter right now so as far as drew brees goes though his job is to win. Football Games right. Nobody's expecting him to outdo a young Justin. Herbert who looks really good by the way if I might add. He hit a couple receivers in that game that I was like Damn. This kid is going to be really really good so. I'm not expecting him outduel just in her but I am expecting drew brees to bring along experience and leadership and that's what we saw in that football game. We saw drew lead his team back to victory stuff. I was other stuff I act- I saw Tastes Hill score the game time travel. But he didn't add that deal here really contributed to all of that. But let me ask you ready because I have question on this. So you have no issue if you're on a saints rookie year ball and just put yourself back there. You have no issue. Seeing drew brees a future hall of Famer Trot off the field on third and four with the game on the line biggest play of the season. You could argue at that point. In Time Reggie Bush have no problem with Tastes Hill jogging on and your future hall of Fame quarterback jogging true.

"Yahoo Sports is Charles. Charles Robinson reports at Norrland's is finalizing a one year deal with Winston. The former buck coming off a five thousand one hundred nine yards season thirty plus touchdowns three interceptions and immediately eyebrows. Raised the idea that Winston would stay in the division. Go to the Saints. Backup drew brees. He enters the mix with Tatum Hill. Who IS SUPPOSED TO BE? And maybe still is the heir apparent To breeze so it just leads to a lot of unsolved mysteries in its own right greg your thoughts when you heard the news that Winston may be and quite possibly is headed to the saints I I wasn't shocked because I I what I did. This hashtag setup into your own comet with a big way. Why why you made your Greg sounding you often. I got it. I wasn't gonNA say anything but then mark reacted to it and I can't help myself but go ahead. I did this Saints Twitter Pot. Podcast just knew that way wolf as podcasts. Him into my buddy Adam and they were saying they were hearing. This was going to happen before the draft so they got sources on the inside and and they ended up being proven right and it makes all the sense in the world of your Jameis Winston and makes sense of. You're the saints too. I think you get a chance to get Jameis. Winston in the building for a year probably drew brees his last year. We haven't heard any financial terms the Jameis Winston deal you know was reported on before the Taste Hill extension Came out and the money that was involved. That extension came out. Part of me does wonder. Is this deal for absolute sure does did Winston know about that before he he came determines but either way he? He should do the deal. Because if he can somehow impress Sean Payton or if he can end up getting in the lineup and being as backup like Teddy Bridgewater What better place to possibly learn because damis Winstons still has a lot to learn but he also has a lot of talent a guy that throws for five thousand yards can do things in the NFL and like there's no better place to learn. Other than to undo. Breezy and Sean Payton.

"The this we know no drew brees this Sunday on the road to face the SEAHAWKS. He's still out with the injured thumb who will replace him well that we don't know Sean. Payton Peyton has yet to name a starter whether that's teddy bridgewater or tastes him hill he does have Alvin Kamara and Michael Thomas on offense to help out whoever ends up behind center Chris Chris Carter can a staint saint. Stay in the playoff hunt without drew brees. We'll just GONNA be a tough task. This is going to be tough. They have to make sure that they don't put too much stress on teddy throwing the ball down the field try to manage the game because they should be able to keep this game fairly close with their defense the saints. Do you have a good defense. They're going to be able to put a lot of pressure on Russell Wilson. This is not one of the more sophisticated offenses Nick Not WanNa Nick rights favorite game teams to watch back even though Russell's one of his favorite guys to watch so keep the game close. The saints have tremendous special teams. Let Teddy get a feel for of the game because starting to gain is totally different. I do like the fact that Sean Payton old school. I'm not giving people too much information. I'm not I tell them what the game plan is. Lead peak heroin sweated out. Let Their defense this week. If there's one hundred defensive plays that they can have in practice we want them. The practice fifty four Tastes Hill and fifty teddy bridgewater compared to announce the starter on Tuesday allowing Pete Neum to have their game plan to be you know some ninety percent teddy and only ten on the backup quarterback so that advantage of not knowing is an advantage that Sean Payton. He is utilizing realizing that and they will have some surprises. I wouldn't be surprised if tastes hill played quarterback at least fifteen plays in the game. Typically you have sixty five plays. I believe fifteen plays Minimum Sean Payton get him involved not because he doesn't believe in teddy because he is a legitimate offense threat running it and throwing and whether he lines up under center for fifteen plays is one thing. I I would imagine he'll be on the there'll be a lot of plays where teddy and take some Hiller. We're on the field at the same time. If you remember last year there was a play where drew brees teddy anti some all three of them were on the field..

"Heineke tastes hill. Oh, baby. Now Taylor Haneke's throwing three touchdown Sunday. Calling it now. I will say it would he is very athletic. Like, he really roughly. He really the same forty times Cam sees these not these pretty athletic. Oh, he's. Yeah. He's actually pretty decent quarterback. Like, he's not. He's not Nathan Peterman. I mean, he's he's not Cam Newton. But he he's not bad. Like he threw for like eight hundred yards in college at one game. So to Kate knowledge doesn't count. Yeah. I mean, I know it was for Old Dominion, I think they were playing like division one AAA or some shit. But do we do we talk about on the show? Josh Johnson's play playoff stats are. I mean college that's now. We had reason to know. Maybe I did with Allah. No. But. Just because you talking about like his dad's Old Dominion. Josh johnson. His senior year at university of San Diego. On three hundred pass through forty two touchdowns at one interception tease. That's nice. Yeah. So yeah. More than ten percent of his passes for touchdowns average ten yards nine point nine yards per tempt after forty down forty two touchdowns. The wonder -ception. So. Yeah. Not bad guys. Gotta have more Super Bowls and Tom Brady at this point. Last his last three years in college threes, he started he threw one hundred eight touchdowns and fourteen interceptions. Wow. So. Yeah. Josh Johnson good for him. All that got him drafted in the fifth round. And he didn't really ever do anything until now. That's my favorite later. Bax state like they run these air raid offenses and they throw for four hundred thousand yards, and then they get in the NFL if they even get in the NFL and their Taylor Heinecke. Heinecke? Like, I just said with Josh Johnson through what I say forty two touchdowns on one interception. In his first season in the NFL. He threw four touchdowns eight interceptions. Yeah. You want a game last week? He did he shared a sure did late bloomer, Jack my opinion late bloomer. Jacksonville. So don't really count for that much. But still speaking things not counting for much. How about those score predictions for the Carolina Panthers and Atlanta Falcons game on Sunday. We're for sure gonna win. Yeah. Go ahead. John tell us what tell us. What you think your score prediction? We're gonna we're gonna win like. Twenty eight to thirteen. Yeah. But yeah, we're going to be like Ossie, we should be good. And then we're all gonna get mad again. Because it's like why do we do this all season? Brad what what is your score production? You know, I think we're gonna win too. Because of to raisins one, basically what John just said because we're all gonna be mad when it happens. Into because it will actually harm us because we're at the point where we need to focus on draft position more than making the playoffs because like we've said is not going to happen. So we'll win. This game is going to be an absolute shit show. It's going to be probably the most entertaining game of the year. And it's going to be one of those both teams or like, no you win. We insist and I just think we're gonna make one fewer mistakes than the falcons. Do. I think Taylor Heinecke is gonna come in and be Tom Brady to Cam Newton's Drew Bledsoe. I think that he's gonna throw for four burger as gonna throw three touchdowns. And I think we're gonna win thirty five to twenty. Holy fuck. Brad. That's amazing. Because that was almost exactly my prediction on the Falco Pollock podcasts. And that's exactly my prediction. Now, I think that the Panthers thirty five to twenty one and Taylor Heikal throw three touchdown passes, including at least one courtesy. And that was my prediction literally in our earlier, which is a mazing..

"Twitter is gotten to a point now where within like a half a day, I'll have just some awful tweets about how I have just crush someone's fantasy. The term is vulture in the fantasy industry, yes, in the industry. So hill. Getting look. I can handle Ingram getting a couple of shots from the one, but tasting hill vaulting that Kamera touchdown. I'll be honest bitter pill. So he then said to hang onto Alba Kamerhe likes the fantasy. Fifth, tight that type. So just in case, you're wondering what he might have thought. He hang up the phone. I pick up my phone about ten minutes later. He texted me a photograph, put up on the screen. It's a vulture. That he got from looks like what shutter stock, Google, Sean Payton, head Google, to photograph of vulture and just texted it. Man, I love that guy. But seriously the nine Texas next that come on Shawn. He said he'd even realized that there were a lot of plays. A lot of a lot of big big place, right? The trae Quant Smith record-setting touchdown pass. Turn out to be a touchdown, tasted hills, a nice young player. He doesn't need any touches inside the five. By the way, he if he had handed it off on one of those reeds zones, it would have been a fifty two yard touchdown for Kamera. So as I pointed out, I, you know, 'cause I've bought a follow Baldy bowling of film sessions that he tweets. Yeah, they're really done its. He tweeted out that he would have hit his head on poetry street is the words that Baldinger used some great. So pay some Hilton. Just Volker on the one volt from fifty is well on that record. Breaking touchdown, pass out. The command was wide open. The flats. Got it that way. Matthew Stafford's on tomorrow's show. "One hour One, hour, and forty two minutes, until the saints wrap. Up the preseason against the, Rams we were just talking about Bobby Mike bubble players in particular we'll, go through them there's a lot on too but. It's conceivable that they could end up keeping initially because you know, they tweak this roster one week one week two but initially they could, keep four, quarterbacks and tasting, hill doesn't count The council as a. Total of four but it's, really like carrying three quarterbacks because you gotta give teddy Bridgewater a little, time to learn this offense Tom savage might be. Of trade value two weeks one or two if somebody gets hurt Bobby or, you want me. To go no matter No, my my thing is because this roster so talented you. Might have been able to do that years ago I don't know if you can. Do it now because you got some, tough cuts, when you're talking about secondary defensive line offensive line I can't see them carrying for when look Because you see the numbers wise at some position so even if it's, the three, that tastes it does count, on your fifty three that's going to be tough to get them this what I think I think, savage obviously wants to play tonight because look good he wants to look good he wants. To still play in the NFL of now with the saints another team. But I think the saints Sean Payton might roll, the dice that drew Brees obviously stay healthy like he has for number seasons, you talking about a dozen years and they go with him hill initially as the backup whatever happened the drew it. Till, teddy Bridgewater could truly grass the often so I, would say the month of September are let's say up. To the by the teddy Bridgewater thing should be enough time then you can even. See him even in October of teddy, Bridgewater ever, came in the game to have a wristband Because people don't realize like oh teddy Bridgewater plane tonight would you want them to. Hand off realize how complicated NFL offenses are I mean I'm telling you. Remember I was so discouraged back in one thousand, nine hundred eighty three having to learn to run and shoot and maybe having, two or three options now have five or six options they didn't ask to be second nature and I was like On I, said maybe I might retire at thirty three years of. Age I was so discouraged what you. Kept you keep plugging away and then it. Clicks then all of a sudden you grasp what you're doing did end up making the Pro. Bowl so is that about the talent is to transfer the physical ability that you have along with those mental capabilities where it becomes second? Nature it's like a foreign language? Learning, yeah you are the, same but it comes out but, listen you gotta spit it out in the huddle exactly all the verbiage and what you have to say in the, huddle they get to the line and get, quake and then you gotta do this, bam, bam, bam where it becomes second. Nature that's why I, mean I think more than any other season that teddy Bridgewater is the future and they're gonna give an opportunity to be the future to replace drew, Brees but that's we weren't about down the, road but you could see the saints kind of covering their behind right now Going with teddy? Bridgewater if you look at it. Teddy, Bridgewater first round draft, pick with the Vikings the two, thousand fourteen now as like an early second. Round pick he was the last pick in the first round twenty eight, consecutive regular season games one postseason contest with, the Vikings if you look as a, rookie, in, two thousand fourteen he was. The sixty four and, a half completion percentage is accurate with the football he was rookie of the year all rookie honors and then you look at fifteen he was sixty, five percent and a half and he had, fourteen thousand nine interceptions and when you think of him as a runner I don't know if you'd say as really. A runner I think he can extend plays if you, look he had two hundred nine yards in. That rookie campaigns scrambled and then he had. One hundred ninety two yards he's not really taken off and running if he's kind. Of scrambling around trying to extend. The plate is still pass the football now you look, what he really did a big feathers cap the Vikings went eleven and five they. Won the NFC title and in. Two thousand fifteen season in training camp with the. Preseason naturally suffered that horrific knee injury so, overall you look at it thirty regular. Season games twenty eight starts sixty five percent completion So Mike. I think that's what we have in. Him got a good fit and then you look coming back with the Andrew where he. Did with the jets this year seventy four percent completion rating. QB ratings passer rating of one. Hundred five so he's actually done that's why we saw tractive that it looks like bridge Bridgewater and what he did in the. Jet you the poor preseason he's not affected by his. Knee and he's ready to move on Quick decision. Maker quick decision maker and good decision maker in the pocket Sean Payton talks about that all the. Time and he excels. In this offense does best short intermediate throws he is very accurate A really intelligent young man he, knows where to go with the football and my thing is watching him into preseason. You could see that he still, has that ability, to extend the play because that was the biggest concern. For me not if he could throw it, accurately because I know I've seen him at Louisville I've seen. Him with the Vikings What was then the play, and he did a good job and he wasn't. Playing behind no I team offensive line when he was in a game? Well if you can recall the AllState Sugar? Bowl when he was outstanding against the fourth ranked Florida, team they won, that game thirty three to? Twenty three he was outstanding he has a lot of touching the ball state routes take his pocket presence that all comes into play so just goes to show you, what have you done for. Me lately what you think of players that, they will I didn't necessarily think there's been. A lot of people Jared Goff well why did they drive him he's a bus for the Rams you look at, his rookie campaign and what he did you wanna talk about night and day compared. To what he did last year Do you know that last year Jared Goff. Was number two in the NFL on the road as far as higher passer rating now I'm Marie these names you look. At two thousand seventeen Jared Goff had a. Quarterback rating right at one? Hundred and ten drew Brees one hundred three and a half. Tom, Brady was one hundred on the road So Jerry golf. Got, it done so right place right time right at the Ryan coach right cocoa data I'm telling you, I'm not saying that Sean Payton will make teddy. Bridgewater hall of. Famer well he could be a hall of fame you, know we want teddy Bridgewater to be a Saito. Hall of Famer 'cause visa Sates all a favor then he's getting it? Done I'm not my bro- football if he? Just gets it done as a Seitz all of Famer, then he's doing, his job for the future?
