For Authors, Regrets Are Part Of The Job
"He regrets. You're part of the job when it parts of being really really sucks Well you have to make decisions on the thing. I don't care what kind of what if situation parallel world. You've got going whatever eventually. You're going to have to make a decision on. Sometimes you have to cheat to win character over another. Sometimes you got. That's a cheese went flat Passover another and where did you understand the reasoning behind. It is not initially. It'd be one you're going to be one hundred percent happy with and you realize that well there's always can be situations when you're right you're not gonna be one hundred percent happy with you. Have Nathan decision that you're the most happy with and that's not always going to be hundred percent. Yeah I know it's aggravating Shinwei. Anthony drive you crazy this way. She allotted writers occasionally basically be. What is your alternative danger. That sort of thing. It's not just one that you but sometimes it's a necessary. Necessary Catharsis is something you need to do to get that thing out of your system and see how it played out in normal circumstances. That's fine if you have the time to do it definitely you go for it. Sometimes you're going to be finding yourself exploring should be interesting tasr and it's going to be some interesting suffer the readers especially if they have been collected into their own separate book. Warming Up Before Your Workout
"Sure all of you will have heard this before. You need to adequately warm-up before going the full throttle into any workout will that be weight training running any sort of sports and so on and more often than not this advice this falls on deaf is so why is it so important to ensure your warm up properly before you exercise. A warm up is a period of time prior to being doing physical activity which consists quite often of light cardiovascular exercises and quite often stretches as well and a woman activties serves two major purposes ready to enhance performance when we first gets help to also prevent injury now. What is really interesting to notice that Mike? With many topics in the health and fitness world there is contradictory advice out there. Because I'm sure many of you will have heard that you should did stretch before warming up as stretching spores exercise helps you to increase flexibility. It helps increase the ability of joint to move for. Its Fru range range of motion. But I'm here to say today that there might be some clues lifting evidence on stretching before we start doing size but before we talk about this contradictory trade balls dot that I should say. There are different forms of stretching. There's static stretches which of those where you're standing or sitting or you're lying still and you hold a single who position for a long period of time and these differ to dynamic stretches while you're performing genital repetitive. Movements perhaps like leg swing weh Edwin gradually increases the range of motion of movement but it always remains in the normal range of movement. Another example might be doing like chocolate cake Jorgen between each each one. But you're doing an open and close. The Gates Foil in an outer thighs are looked at up. If you're not sure I mean there but it has more movement involved rather than just being static taking sedentary as you'll doing the stretch so all of heard in the past is that regular stretching is thought to increase flexibility by making all muscles more supple and by retraining the nervous system to tolerate stretching further however according to the National Strength Conditioning Association a growing body of research has shown that pre-workout workout or pre event static stretching may actually have a negative effect on force production POW performance strengthen durance reaction time time and running speed in fact. Several studies said stretching before a workout or an advantage the race or a weightlifting competition. Whatever it may be has been shown to reduce performance went up to three percent? Dr Ian Schrager. A sports medicine clinician researcher and associate professor at the Department of Family. Medicine at Montreal's McGill University. Christie said that research now suggesting that stretching before exercise actually makes your muscles weaker and slower but it does help to increase. You'll range of the notion professor. Robert Herbert is a senior principal. Research Fellow Wave Neuroscience Research. Australia found that most of the evidence strongly suggest adjusted static. Stretching before exercise does not reduce the risk of injury and even a little bit quite negligible I mean study called a pragmatic randomized trial of stretching before and physical activity to prevent injury and soreness found what they called to be. A hint of an effect on reducing injuries like Ligament Tasr has muscle strains and sprains. So where does this leave. As if we've been told allies to do stretches and static stretching before exercising what shall we actually do. What free exercise warm up should we do? If there's a point in doing one at all so according to Dr Sharia your decision to stretch not distract should be based on what you want to achieve deep if the objective is to reduce injury stretching before exercise is not helpful. Your time better spent by warming of your muscles with the light. Aerobic Nick Movement. We talked about light cardiovascular movements getting some light joining in for example and gradually increased their intensity whilst of your objective is increase your range of motion so you can more easily do the splits. For example this is more beneficial doing stretches then doing a cardiovascular joke for example the purpose solve warming up has to prepare mentally and physically for your chosen activity so typical warm up should take at least ten minutes and involve the light Arabic movements we talked. What about with dynamic stretching that mimics the movements of the activity? You're about to four form unless as we said you're about to perform a split for example or something like the way you might want to consider static stretching you should then gradually increase the range of motion of these movements during the warm up to prepare the body for more intense versions of those movements that occurred during the sport itself so by doing this. This process will raise your heart rate. Increase the blood your muscles thereby warming your muscles up. And when he formed to muscles up less stiff they work more efficiently than has more blood flow. That's enabling your muscles two or more oxygen to reach your muscles and produce is energy and the woman also activates the nurse signals to muscles which can increase your reaction time so what is better recommended then. It's a combination Asian. Really if you're going to do a sport or weight training all a run. For example of dynamic stretching where into being cooperating some lights cardiovascular activity tippety as well as some more movement and Joe stretches raw than holding them in a static position so this episode might be very contrary to what you've heard before about stretching but I hope it has helped shed some light on pre-exercise war ups and what we should be doing What we should consider depending on what our objective
Understanding 'church and state' in Brazil
"Today's show. We'll look at a couple of places which is and politicians make pretty unabashed best use of each other and at one country where a critical mass of the population seems to have grown tired of the arrangement. We'll stop in Brazil who's new president. Cheyenne Shaya Bolsonaro. One power on campaign heavily geared towards the least generous impulses Brazil's traditional Catholic believers and it's increasingly influential and rather less tolerant evangelical converts joining me to discuss. This is Antonio San Pyo research associate for conflict security and development at the International Institute for Strategic Agents Studies. Antonio I'll start with the very basics generally right now how religious a country is Brazil. Well Brazil is a very religious country. People's religion is quite important for their dentists. Mostly although obviously in the big urban centers in the southeast where people are wealthier and more connected to coacher and things this tends to be a bit smaller but resists to a very large Catholic country. There are a lot of. Catholics is by far the majority the Evangelical Population Elation Brazil has experienced tremendous growth in recent decades and it is estimated now that there are about thirty percent of the population identifying themselves as if Angelico but this population is divided in several different nations different churches but these population tends to be extremely conservative -servative in social terms in terms of controversial social freedom issues like gay marriage abortion and other issues. We'll come back to the van Jellicoe presently because they are a relatively recent arrival certainly in the Brazilian political sphere at least to the extent they now operate if we look at the Catholic Church in particular which is as you point out historically the root of Brazilian faith. How politically active or influential? Have they been. The Catholic. Search has been relatively modest or discreet in terms of politics in never officially endorses. Any candidates TASR assumed for itself a role as an actor and a supporting pillar in the more impoverished communities in Brazil Brazil as a country with large areas that are extremely poor and marginalized It is very important in urban areas. Where the poor resort to religion as an escape scape from the realities from the marginalization that the broader society and the broader economy regard them with so it is an important factor in social terms but politically medically? It hasn't had a lot of influence in Brazilian politics at least in this current era of democracy since the mid nineteen eighties. So is it fair to say. Even the evangelical more explicitly politically ambitious in the Catholic Church. was they want to take more direct role in Brazilian politics. Absolutely I believe and have been by far more active and more proactive in seeking political influence the Evangelical priests in their churches especially those of the biggest searching in Brazil such as the Universal Church of God the occasion of your cell to Hanes deals led by Juma do it you must see a do also owns a very large. TV Station in Brazil called record TV and he hasn't being extremely vocal but he has given even some public comments supporting able scenario the far-right candidate that ended up winning the elections now. The president of Brazil and there are several media reports showing how even though the public indoctrination or public mention of candidates and support in the church during ceremonies themselves themselves are quite discreet or sometimes completely absent on the margins of the religious ceremonies in the way that people talk and discuss with each other. They are quite supportive of what is currently the far right movement in Brazil the talk phone crime conservative in social terms so this is a very strong movement. Many Brazilian a majority of the evangelicals showed support for Djabel scenario by some poles seventy percent of Brazilians who identify as evangelical voted full. Oh Bolsheviks what's your sense of which way round the horse and the car were there by which I mean were evangelical voting Wgir Bolsonaro. Because because they think he's the guy always Bolsonaro going out of his way to convince evangelical that he's the guy so the interesting thing. Is that Djabel. Sano is N- aunt and oven jellicoe. He doesn't follow jellicoe religion his Catholic however his wife is of Jellicoe and he has demonstrated several policy positions nations and other philosophical points that are very aligned with evangelical concern so for instance the transfer of the Brazilian embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem Jerusalem. He stated publicly during the campaign than closer to the election. He showed that he wasn't sure about it. And now he continues to tiptoe on that however it was a point that is widely supported by the fans Alecos because of their belief that the Jews should return to Jerusalem and rebuild their temple so at the second coming of Christ would come to believe that is very widespread evangelical community at least in Brazil and other points such as publicly stating certainly in the pass on to some extent the president also stating opposition to gay marriage to the presence of gender and sexual education in schools that evangelical bellicose think is beyond unacceptable for their ultra-orthodox views. Sold these points. jellicoe symbols on auto are very well aligned. There are some voices in the oven. Jellico community that worry about the long term implications abused for the Evangelical Movement as a whole for its future because at the same time that there are very comfortable. Alliances of positions between both scenario and the evangelicals Bono also states some points that are quite violent excellent and points regarding public securities. Such as shooting took you criminal supporting torture off. Criminals suspected criminals and these tend to afflict particularly the poor and particularly poor black men which is also the constituencies the demographics that tend to be more heavily. Evangelical John Jellicoe so it's not a complete harmony of thoughts but so far the social conservatives mobile zone auto and of the Jellicoe movements have become quite aligned. Wind is it a challenge for President Bolsonaro or any Brazilian politician to try to manage the The expectations the hopes and the energies of both the van Jellicoe and the Catholic Church. Are there points of difference between them at all. I believe that it is a challenge to acquire the political political support of these different communities while also attending or respecting the less conservative positions of the rest of the Brazil's population. So the reason why this balance between jellicoe Catholic hasn't been very prominent in recent years. Is that the Evangelical Movement has been quite divided politically whereas the Catholic Church doesn't explicitly get involved in politics. The evangelicals have been involved but in a very fragmented way so they haven't really supported a single presidential candidate or a single political party. Brazil country with around thirty parties represented in Congress and it is is very fragmented and there are evangelicals in many many parties. Do Workers Party that is now. The main opposition the arch enemy of Bozon Otto and his right wing wing movement. The work aspired self aligned itself with the Evangelical so during Duma rousseff and Duma Roussev went back on some policy proposals to provide sexual education gender education schools because of Evangelical Influence Tube. Resilient political fashion diva jellicoe movement. Woman has been quite versatile and adaptive in align itself to whoever is in power in order to increase its influence and tried to block some of the moves against its philosophy and its main driving influences main driving voice has been against social freedom issues abortion gay marriage sexual education schools and things like that so just as a final thought then if as does seem to be the case. Brazilian politics has become more conservative. At least if we think think of that phenomenon as being personified by the current President Dawda extent is that being driven by religious faith whether it is the more traditional oh Catholic faith or the the new genetic evangelical faith. I think a big part of this right-wing shift of Brazil and the growing conservatism servicemen. That has been demonstrated by political leaders is being driven by evangelicals would just saw that the number of evangelical representing Congress rose by ten percent in the lower chamber of Congress in the October elections so their presence in politics has been increasing. It's just not something that is to the dominant can't power. Its shares power with some all the conservative sections so for instance in Brazil there is a faction of Congress that is called BBB so for stands for bullets bowls or cattle and Bible so the agribusiness influence is very strong as well and they also have a conservative view view. Those that support the more freedom to bear arms also tend to align themselves with the social conservatives of Jellicoe so these forces allied lied to themselves the form of important source off conservatives and to some extent swing shift in Brazilian politics Antonio some thank
Women to close out WrestleMania for first time
"WWE is going to make a little history with wrestlemainia this go around at outta MetLife. Big. It's a big deal. It's a huge deal for the first time ever. It's an all woman main event, it's a three way match, you know, with Becky Lynch, Ronda Rousey, whose champion were raw women's champions around the rousing shallow flair and Becky Lynch does the freeway match. It would be the main event. Some would call it the final match while from us. Call the main event Seles match. Yeah. So. You know, some folks thought maybe Brock listener. And Seth Rollins will be the main event, it's not universal title. This is for the raw women's championship. And you know. It says a huge deal. This is great not just for the business. It's just for the restaurant business, but it's great for women's wrestling because women's wrestling over the past several years has come such a long way, not just from WWE other companies to and the women aren't just looked at as as it used to be years ago. When it just I candy, he's a legitimate athletes. These are legitimate performance legitimate WB superstars, and these three ladies Shala flare rows and Becky alleged. They're gonna tear it down. It's going to be great. It's going to be great. And to do it at MetLife. Another just we're wrestlemanias. Always at these big big stadiums. Just like the SuperBowl, isn't pack them. Okay. You're gonna have close to eighty thousand people. Okay. At wrestlemainia people from all over WorldCom. And that just makes me so proud like as a former wrestler, a former wrestling broadcaster. You know, how many years it's taken? But it's finally like I was saying during the break to you and Andrew bogusch. Not really awesome. How so many worldwide mainstream sports verticals in sports, broadcasts companies, and and worldwide entertainment companies supporting with w w pro wrestling does on their websites on TV just a little while move says, you know, you're going to have Roman reigns. And all ladies the ladies in the main advantages named ought to be a sports center on ESPN on TV. I mean, so and and they're going to be doing suffered ESPN they did stuff last year too. So I'm just saying I just so it's just so refreshing that it's the the entertainment value is respected by the sports world. And the athleticism is is respected by the bulk of the sports world. So, but this is a huge thing. I mean, this is huge. And it's it's happy for I don't be rude. I'm happy for Charlotte flair and Becky Lynch of these ladies they paid their dues a lot of years. Lot of skin in the game. A lot of. A years. Lots of years, okay before WWE, Rhonda Rousey, she's new to the game. She'd been paid dues and the wrestling business. Great great MMA. She's a UFC hall of Famer. She's a amazing grand champion judoka. Which is a a junior champion. So amazing athlete and she brings massive stop power. But I'm old school wrestling traditionalists, and those two other ladies paid a lot of dues flair and Lynch, but Ronda Rousey is helping draw draw the helps draw the main event, obviously because I'm a stop out. Yes, she does. But not as popular as the other two amongst wrestling fans. No rescue domino. You said and you're right. And the reason is because bring name power put the wrestling fan or fans of Becky Lynn me the reason is because of respect. Yeah. Because they know like I just said the wrestling fan knows that those ladies paid a lot of deuce and Rhonda hasn't. But that's not the main reason she she's her character, which is good. They have for doing this more out of health the fans and a bunch of nerds in their basement. She's going that route which is called cheap. It's easy to do that works. It's fine. So that's helping hurt that helps her as a heel as a bad guy dead girl, get that heat. But the fans also know when she talks on a Mike is just terrible is no juicy. There's no other way to put. She's yes. I'm sorry. She's great, and my disrespecting handing she's done athletically, or what she means in for the WWE attached. But I mean, I just look at I look at the other two is just better overall. When you put everything in place. I, you know, I look at them as better overall women rested. And I just want to say this to like anybody who thinks wrassling. I listen, you watch any stuff leading up to the smack just for example, what Shala flare Becky Lynch, Ronda Rousey, go on YouTube goal. WBZ's website watch the physicality that's happening with these ladies. Yeah. Okay. Watchhouse fifties kicks and punches are that will watch. And so anybody who thinks any different is a dumb ass. It just doesn't stand and they have this archaic thinking, and it's it's sad because that's kind of like uncalled Alec. It's like wrestling's embraced now. It's it's sitting here on a national sports radio show. And we're talking about this. You'll have you'll have broadcasters here on CBS sports radio. Talk about wrestlemanias that leads to on WFAN here. Locally to know wherever you might anywhere anywhere. You live right, right. Talking about this. Because it like I said they're fixing to be on ESPN. Right. It's it's clearly it's clearly more mainstream and has got more mainstream as we've gone along here. And I, you know, put all that, you know, everything you said is true TASR. I just think you look at the growth of the women are the women's wrestler. The woman wrestler in professional wrestling is just remarkable. Because you mentioned in terms of now, I remember the days of sable, right? And not even not even go back where you know, you mentioned candy and everything was calling that stuff. You know that birthday. We'll see. So. So it's so significantly different the way that they're treated and appreciated now much significant. Yeah. And they've earned it. I mean, and they do a great job. I mean, we've interviewed you know, we interviewed Charlotte all week. That's right special winter, she was doing stuff a special, which is which the WWE designate job their outreach into the communities, and helping those that need it, and she talked about that. And and we know how big of a star Becky Lynch's and Ronda Rousey, she's got some work to do in terms of. I don't know if it's ever gonna get there with her on the Mike, but we know how great of a of a physical specimen. Well, then the thing is I do think like just a my opinion that I think they if if if if something McConnell McGregor happens would w w at wrestlemania guy the table set here, you get this main event here like we said earlier, I talked about this earlier. And I'll talk about more on my podcasts on the tashaun get deeper in the woods on the wrestling. But the thing is like you got you got one of the girls listing Becky Lynch and who's probably gonna win the championship. At wrestlemainia, and for those that don't know harmonica. Her name is she's the man so speculates as you know, Muslim. She's the man that's like the gimmick. And 'cause she's the man, but she's a woman. But it's it's just a gimmick. Right. But anyway, she's from Ireland. Okay. We know Conor McGregor is from Ireland. We know Rhonda rows economy McGregor offer ends. I could see something happened where I would strongly predict if f Conor McGregor gets involved. You know, and everybody's gonna hack this for me on this radio station. Just throw some credit over here to task. I would think that Conor McGregor helps Becky somehow some way maybe if he's involved win the match that'd be cool and win the championship. Because then they could go down the road where Rhonda's pissed at McGregor, and they could do something potentially further down the
C.J. Anderson says Todd Gurley was 'more hurt than what we thought' when he signed with the Rams
"Then we go out to Los Angeles and interesting a little bit of clarity surrounding the Rams and Todd Gurley. And you know, listen, we set at the time after the NFC championship game. And certainly with the lack of use in the Super Bowl. Even though there was the great smokescreen at the Todd Gurley was a great get a tremendous work in the Rams and were telling everybody that that he was. That was surrounded at game being a CBS event as we saw it that it's going to get his normal workload he didn't. And now we have a little bit of clarity is a C J Anderson attitude yesterday TASR by basically, saying, no, sir. Uncertain terms that you know, he was brought in Gurley was hurt worse than they initially thought. He was. L, and I've talked about this a lot as you said when this was going on in a poll season what NFC championship the Super Bowl and all this jazz. Girly weren't getting a lot of burn, you know. And I I'm not confused. But it's interesting to me that C J Anderson would say this publicly what a cameras face when you. Show McVeigh wouldn't say this like nobody else's was saying this after the Super Bowl after you've got your rear end kicked by the pats. Nobody was saying this about growing and that for him to say, I have no beef would CJ innocent. I'm just confused. Like, why wouldn't it's more about McVay? Why wouldn't the head coach status or the organization or Todd Todd Gurley? I understand you want to make it look like an excuse. I got from the athletes perspective. I think that's it. But usually the head coach will take the heat. He'll he'll sort of the athlete doesn't look soft. But let me say it. How do you come out after you told Gurley was said tell tell everyone all week long thou Gurley was healthy. Then how do you after the game? Then say he was what you gotta say that violation of NFL rule, you gotta figure something we've seen guys kind of finagle with this a little bit. They say things certainly there's ways you could skirt as you know, you got pre-game me a little banged up. Whatever I mean, he's got some soreness in wheel in something. Something's got. Had to be surprised at CJ. Girly and say, wait a second. You you couldn't run the ball because you were sore or your compounding the problem. Are you not? I mean, he lied to begin with right, right? Because girly clearly was hurt. He the the the whole notion that that Anderson was a better match up. I mean, it's hot girl. He's a top two running back in the sport. I mean, they had some some guys say, well, even at the Rams bay none as somebody had McVeigh talking about the matchup of C, J Anderson when you just gave girly what forty five million dollar extension, or whatever it was that was it. So I mean, you mean to tell me I'm gonna take a Jim Brown out of the game. Sanders out of the to get the backup some work because the fact that it can more north-south runner. No that that to me made no sense. So we all knew what the truth was tasked. But I don't think the Rams after they told everybody at CBS after they told everybody during the course of the week leading up to the Super Bowl that Gurley was a okay one hundred percent healthy after girly basically said as well after McVeigh said at that after the game after once again having little to no work or very limited work that saying well, listen all week long. Is he was about sixty percent. Well, listen the week. I don't think they could do that. I understand they face a massive fine. I understand what you're saying. And you're spot on you are. But the thing is, you know, this the week going into the Super Bowl the narrative Rams camp was loud and clear. Yeah. That you know, what I'm going with this Todd Gurley was going to run the ball. Todd Gurley was tweet now. But she loved the team everything he's rarely go, blah, blah, blah, talk girl talk girl Todd Gurley. And really he didn't do nothing touches in the Super Bowl. He did not. But isn't that TASR when you look back at a is not a case of gamesmanship could be it could be. But it could be it didn't work. I'm not telling you that could be right because why gave the patriots an advantage in their preparations. When do you want to make sure that everyone's a ok and one hundred percent healthy you want to sit in the notion of the pats have to prepare for one hundred percent Todd Gurley. Even though the Rams DOE that he's not. I mean, let's say what what Anderson said is basically what we all thought. I mean, there's nobody walking around gonna get a lot too at Starbucks and saying listen Anderson was I can understand why girly to got limited. No use. I mean, he was one hundred percent healthy. I mean, we we all thought that game. I I don't want to I. Yes. But for me, I was a little bit. I'm going to be honest. I know out here talking. I was out a little bit confused. I wasn't buying into the injury thing. I wasn't. I wasn't. I wasn't buying it. I think I said that here several times, I remember we serve as me. I wasn't by. Now, if CJ is telling the truth, and I was dead wrong. Now. I'll be wrong. That's fine. I felt like there was more to this than the guy's got an injured knee got guys hurt because there were clusters. They were burst. He would get on the field in the AFC championship in NFC champ should say in the end in the Super Bowl where he girly looked explosive. Looked awesome and bro. Nobody nobody. I didn't see maybe I'm slightly exaggerating. The bulk of those two games I did not see any member of medical staff on the sideline near Todd Gurley. And he was the thread of the broadcast. He was the conversation from the Rams offense aside where commentators for both those games will talking about girly. My point is I we've never really sure camera autumn a lot on the sideline, but we never saw trainer or anybody from the training staff talking to him. I'm not saying it didn't happen. But we never saw. Reported see that. But I mean lot there's I mean tasks we we've all watched girly run the football. We've all watched Anderson run the football would be a case of, you know, you're taking a top three players position out of the game for guy that just came off the cow graph. Yeah. No, no. I agree with you. Thanks. I know you know, that I know I know I it's just now I believe now we have regardless of what the motivation is for CJ and got some clarity. And he even said, you know, let's girlie one say, but it was the same knee that he got that. He suffered that he had the knee injury with when it came back to college. Right. Our it's the it's that day believes spring me. I mean, they brought him in. And I understand Anderson. Ran the ball. Really? Well, he did. And he's gonna get himself a job in two thousand nineteen in the National Football League and great for C J Anderson took advantage of an opportunity, but tasks we look at that game. And you say we'll house type girly not getting touches and it very similar a not not very similar. But when you take a starter off the field as we criticize the patriots two years ago in the Super Bowl when they take a quarter off the field. That's played in your saying. Why is he not play crown on a Sunday, and no clarity about that? Right dogs act. We we still don't know exactly. What went wrong there? And everyone says it was the match. Yup. That's nonsense. What a corner bells. Defensive place that doesn't play in the Super Bowl. You look down with girly. At least we have a little bit of clarity in terms of where that me wasn't where he was. And you're right. I I guess I'm just being thick-headed. But I don't think we'll go out and lie with do that. I don't hear is nothing a game for that. You know? I mean, he's actually protecting a guy that he's competing against that was on his team. You know what? I mean, the girl he's not going to be getting excuses. Right. Well, I respect that too. And here's what here's the other thing. It didn't come back to what the Rams, you know. Why didn't because Goth was brutal? Yeah. He really was. And you could say we want Cup. Cop wasn't there? You could say anybody can say what they want about Cup. And that and I know they have great chemistry. Goths gotta be a player with or without Carly or without some. I agree with you. And that and that gave them some cover. So I mean as bad as it was that scene girly on the field TASR. There were throws a GOP needed to me. And he was clearly undone by the defensive scheme by the

"I am gonna go. Drew brees. And this one that doesn't mean I that doesn't mean I'm saying essentially gonna win the game. This is a one v one. I do think that breeze. We'll have better numbers and outplay Jared Goff quarterback to quarterback this Sunday involves. Yeah. Know we're ver second day in a row, we're going to be an agreement. You can't really compare the careers in any way, shape or form between the two. And Jared Goff is still in the early stage of his of his embraces on the back nine as the cliche would say of his and he's going to be a first ballot hall of Famer and the pro football hall of fame in canton, Ohio breeze. Although. And now forty years of age. Historic season. I mean, thirty eight to five touchdowns the interceptions over the course of the year. You look at the completion percentage. Mike Thomas is an absolute stud at one of the whiteout spots hitting Alvin Kamara coming out of the into the flat as well and running pass routes. He's like he's got one all star Pro Bowl caliber receiver after another. He's got a lot of talent around him. And he's done a great job of orchestrating and running that offense. And when they need to pick up big third downs. There was drew Brees on Sunday once again against the eagles. The concern. I have with golf is you know, the way that he closed out the year, you know, going into that, you know, forty Niner game was out the season. Tasr thrown an interception in in four straight games. The four interception game on the road in Chicago against the bears in which that bears defense had its way. You look at the way that the Rams knocked around the Dallas Cowboys it wasn't on the arm of of Jared Goff. It was on the legs of full girly and C J Anderson. Yeah. They ran for nearly two hundred seventy yards as a team. So I look at where they all right now. I think McVeigh is a brilliant play caller. I think Sean Payton, so brilliant, play caller. But I'm looking at this one V one matchup. It's hard for me. Not to the side with the old, man. The forty year old in in drew Brees. And think that I'm gonna take him on Sundays a better quarterback better player not for just for his career. But this year he's been a veteran quarterback and a better player McVeigh and McVeigh's done a wonderful job Jared Goff. They're just not on the level of drew Brees. So I'm signed with you drew.
Ex-Steelers OC Bruce Arians says Antonio Brown isn't same player Pittsburgh drafted
"Of Antonio Brown. And he was the offense coordinator at one point in time before leaving Pittsburgh. And then joining the staff of Chuck Pagano in Indianapolis, and then becoming the colts interim coach as he battled cancer Picado dead and successfully thanked out and it became the Arizona Cardinals head coach. And now as the town. Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach. And that is Bruce Arians who said that he would not be interested in in Antonio Brown that he's too much of a diva. Antonio Brown is is not the same player. That the Pittsburgh Steelers drafted not physically we're talking about. Now. We're talking about everything else that comes along with Antonio Brown. Besides his ability to help you out and special teams and catch the football as an NFL wide receiver. Yeah. You know, Arians, basically said he's heard a lot of stories about as recent how he is speaking of Antonio Brown. And he said he plays as hot as anybody on Sunday. He practice really hard to. But you know, he's he's basically said as a paraphrasing. He's got him. He totally Brown's gotta make better decisions off the field as far as his punctuality and stuff like being being on time and whatnot. That's we said, so it's pretty interesting new head coach, you know, you've been in the broadcast booth for a year your new head coach of the box. This guy's a Steeler kinda. And I honestly coached them. It's you know, it's interesting to hear him say that about him. So it doesn't sound like Brown be going to Tampa Bay anytime soon. No. It doesn't sound like that. And that's the concern. I mean, you know, you can listen to every former NFL player, whether it be Jerry Rice and others say that he wants to be a San Francisco forty nine or that's great. I may it's great. And I do we both are in agreement TASR that Antonio Brown's gonna get traded this off season by the Pittsburgh Steelers. OB fascinating the team that he does go to am. I telling you that he's a losing player. Antonio Brown can help you in football games. But I will say that there's a lot of headaches now Brown and distractions. Yeah. Great point that Antonio Brown brings to the table that I don't know if there's a lot of NFL head coaches that are going to go out and look to embrace it. I really do. And that's the issue. I have with Brown is I don't want to deal with the nonsense. I really don't as Aaron said, you know, there's the little things that he doesn't do shop to shop to practice on time show up to meetings on time. You know, you're asked to run a hot return a walk-through run the run the hot read. What are you? What are you doing here? I mean, come on. Exactly nervous. I understand what you thought. I was going. I remember where it was funny. I mean, honestly, I it's not that difficult to it's not that difficult for Antonio Brown to handle his responsibilities. Yeah. I completely agree. I've never heard that before I was refunded. Agree with you to moves by. Yeah. Yeah. It was great. Yeah. Man. You know, I think you're going to get some coaches that are that will some teams that will wanna take that chance because how talented these days. We've all in all careers separately. You and I coming up in in all world separately. Right. I'll separate worlds. I'm sure you've come across the state me. All you've heard of guys that you may be going to do business. What guys or girls that you're going to do business? What that you've heard a lot of negativity about. And what's the first thing you said yourself? Well, I okay. This person's talented. I'm going to judge them for once. I get to know them. You give them that. You know what? I mean. I, you know, my wife always taught my son that you might hear things about someone judge them. I from how you judge them. Okay. Take defamation here. But a lot of times it could be hearsay on the advice. It is with this guy here. It's been a like him himself. He's combustible. He's tweeting stuff. Meaning it's Brown. He's been doing a lot of stuff. He's creating he's adding a ton of gasoline to these little fires that war with the Steelers in Hammond Tomlin. So if you're another coach, my point is that I do think some of the coaches or a coach will say, okay. This guy's really talented. He's a superstar. He's going to put as we going to put people to seats in the building. Okay. And and these stadiums role big he's a draw. He's going to draw people. He's a star. I so we've heard all this bad stuff about them. Just like Erin said, I've heard the stories a younger coach hypothetically might say. Well, I wanna to take that chance. I've heard the stories too. But I'm going to judge Antonio foot for what what I see we're going to take a chance on him. And that's what then you gotta hope for the best because he's gonna end up somewhere. Most you know, he's just too damn. And that's a fair way to fair way to look at it by also think that if you're having issues with a player friendly coach, Mike Tomlin, see, I I think there are guys that can't work and play for Bill Belichick. I think there are guys that can't work and play for other disciplinarians like a go back a couple years go back years ago. Bill Parcells right there. There are guys it just it just doesn't work. Now, if you can't play for a guy like Mike Tomlin, who's bent over backwards to placate you over the course of your career as you've changed with the success as your personality is changed with the money. All of that is well deserved because it's earned. I'm not talking about his personality all the money that comes his way. Tasr? I also have to look at that. Same of you have issues with Mike Tomlin, what the hell are you gonna do here? Yeah. Yeah. I mean, Mike cobblers a really is he's apprentice coach player friendly code. But there will he will be playing in the National Football League next year, you'll be making seventeen eighteen million dollars a year. God bless, but there's there's a lot. There are other guys as Bruce Arians said, I think there are a number coaches to say, I don't want daddy. Deal with that. I don't want that toxic person in your locker room. That's what you don't want. You know, you don't want that. Like, I'm a bills fan as you guys know, and I I love all young quarterback. And if we gotta Antonio Brown. I think that'd be amazing. Be awesome. But I would worry that he would like inadvertently mess. What the Josh out? I would worry about that. And I think that's a fair fair concern. But I think that a lot is coaches will judge him. For what they think and and meet with him Suez heads out, and let's just I just play a little bit on Antonio Brown side. He's been with the same organization right out of college. Right. So seven eight years, whatever it is sometimes difficult to paint. Sometimes you you'll be in better behavior. When rental the people a change of change of environment sometimes could help, and maybe that's what he needs, and maybe things will change. And may maybe

"We go right up until nine o'clock eastern six Pacific here on this Wednesday morning. A good new year to one at all the anniversary the one year anniversary of the towers of the Meuse program. Yes, we launched January second two thousand eighteen so happy anniversary to us on this Wednesday morning, and we've got the three company away. But later on in the program. We've got my Johnson back roads sports network. Join us talk a little Alabama football. Oh later on the program as well. As I mentioned going into the top of the hour break Antonio Brown's, but a huge story we kicked off the program there, and we'll get to that again once again low bit later on. But now the coaching searches for teams in the national football. League that that got rid of their coaches, whether it be Sunday night with Dr cutter and Todd Bowles with the jets whether it be a Monday Vance Joseph Marvin Lewis just to name a few of those Steve Wilkes out there in Arizona. That now teams are looking for new leadership for two thousand eighteen and beyond one of those names that you thought a lot of thought might be a guy that they could chat with would be Lincoln Riley from Oklahoma. Although he made it perfectly clear when Jason Garrett was going through his struggles before the Cowboys started their season around Tasman that. And he was linked to the Dallas Cowboys when he was asked about it. I would probably say November maybe even earlier than that late October. He said, you know, I'm perfectly happy right now. In beta college, football coaches, a young guy said he'd never closed the door on that challenge. But right now, he's happily happy as an Oklahoma sooner head coach. And now they get to the national semi final. They lose to oak. Tune Alabama forty five thirty four being the final there and Lincoln Riley gets a contract extension with the Oklahoma Sooners, so Lincoln Riley is not going anywhere and no one really anticipated him going anywhere now. But I'm sure there would be teams that would be interested in chatting with the office of mine from Oklahoma. He's a great coach is a great mind, and it's thirty four thirty five thirty five years old. I mean, you know, and so basically he was the offense coordinator gino's Yosi there. And he took over a being promoted when when Bob stoops base replacing Bob stoops twenty seventeen and he's just. I've been great in two seasons. Rally would with the Sooners twenty four and four wreck at sixteen and to Mark in big twelve play. So he is the real deal. He's an offensive guru as you know, moose. He's a fun guy to watch coach. I know I've talked to JR about them. You know, Jim Ross was very connected to the Oklahoma program. And they all love them from the players of the parents to the alumni, they love they love Riley. So he's. Love love easy. You could just see the way he runs an offense. And what he's done what guys like Baker Mayfield last year and would Calum Murray this year does a tremendous job. So that's great for the Sooners man that he's staying put because he is a guy that you know, definitely could have been in one of these seats in this coaching caresource. We see that's that's fixed to go down as we saw these guys unfortunate lose their jobs, which we Sunday Monday. And and fortunately that was the case, I yeah, I think at some point the NFL will be something he'll be interested in I think he'd like to win a national championship at Oklahoma. I I think they've got to emphasize some sort of defense at some point in time. Not just in Oklahoma. But in the big twelve conference overall, he's a wonderful offensive mind. And and TASR really that's kind of the the sound of the times in the National Football League of of a bringing in of getting your the lien is go offense. That's what makes the Chicago Bears different. The Baltimore Ravens different in in the NFL playoffs is they are really good defensive teams in in the big twelve at Oklahoma. We saw how good collar Murray was in the regular season. But we also saw the difference between a overall great team and a great offense in the national semifinals the Oklahoma Sooners had a great offense. They were not a great team as their defense is atrocious the Alabama crimson tide or a great team. And I think that's something that teams in the big twelve needs to get back to the drawing board a little bit of Oklahoma needs to get back to the drawing board is it's. Great to win fifty five fifty three games in the regular season. It's going to be very difficult to win a national championship that way because if your offense has a little bit of an off night or you get off to a bad start as they did against Alabama. And you're down Twenty-eight nothing. You're just not gonna get enough STA enough stops over the course of the game for your offense to get themselves back into it. Yeah. No, no. And I agree. And I understand. I mean, that's been a lot of a lot of the narrative on on the big twelve is defense and theft. That's definitely ruffle homeless very lopsided as far as the super high octane offense that Lincoln Riley crew had up there. Let let up by column Murray. But I think I have to say, I don't think last night Georgia and Texas at the Texas, you know, and they got that win. No one. No one expected that Texas won the game twenty eight twenty one and their defense showed up. I mean, I I was very surprised Georgia didn't have a good night. It was just a bad night the play dead and Georgia played bed. And I was shocked moose I was because. That defense looked good last night for the long ones against a super potent Georgia offense that a lot of folks including me for Georgia should have been in that final four as opposed to Notre Dame. But then you also get into motivation is that the really Georgia attended last night in the Sugar Bowl down in New Orleans. Well, that's, but that's the that's the issue with the playoff here is that having games where LSU they beat central Florida sixty five or six defensive starters. Don't play. Gang left. Michigan gets routed for their best players didn't suit up is there preparing to play in the national. They're preparing themselves for the NFL draft process. So it's hard when you look at these bowl games TASR in in terms of the interest. And and what is real and what's not ear? Right. I mean for Texas and top Herman saying that they are back following their performance. It's a hell of a performance. There were fifteen point underdog going into the game. They win the game twenty eight twenty one it was a bigger margin of victory than that. They were by far the better football team. They did play defense in that game. And I'll give a gift Texas credit. But I don't know how motivated Georgia was as a group going into it. Because that's not the same Georgia team that we saw all season. Why? Returned the ball of a lot. Jay swear. All right. I mean, Jake Frahm will kid I'm a fan of at quarterback. He was twenty one hundred thirty five two hundred twenty four yards three TV's and one interception. I mean, he he played good. But he didn't play great just a whole team. I'm to the point you make. And I don't know if it was a motivational day for the BULLDOGS or what? But that's what great teams. Do you play? Great all the time out sounds difficult because it is. I mean to you gotta you gotta play great in big spots. I know ballgames people say are bullsh-, mall, whatever. But you know, what love Georgia was not putting that final four. This was their opportunity. They go into the game ranked fifth in the country right outside that top four. And you gotta make a statement. You just saw Notre Dame get their doors blown off there. You got a chance to take a number fifteen ranked longhorns team and make a statement in the sugarbowl at night, and you didn't put honestly task do you think the nineteen twenty year old kid, really? Thinking about that thinking about what did they could? Well, thinking about Notre Dame's loss thinking about almost they are. I don't think they are. They are wider Georgia play. So I think the fact that played them, and they just they they came. They were a little uninspiring they had a bad day. But at that the kids they were uninspired, they weren't smart uninspired, but the nineteen twenty year old I am it's tough to stereotype all of them. But I know my son was on a college team last year that they were making a run in a different sport. And and they will looking at guys that teams are ranked above them, and they were motivated by that and these one thousand nine hundred twenty one worlds, and they were very motivated by that extremely motivated on. But this is a game the game is I mean for all intents and purposes is is relatively meaningless. What I see? I don't I have from the national semifinals. The bowl games are our rights meaningless as far as what does it mean? Like football players, these families, these coaches, I know you didn't say this. I don't know if you're saying this. But it doesn't seem like you're saying it's it's meaningful to them and to the fan bases. Because anytime you get to know seniors. This is the last time they gonna play unless the NFL not all of them going the NFL these I just talked about this last week when when when ABC for you we were talking, and I got it this way a little bit. This is a big deal to me like because these games of big deals to these players to these coaches these families. I know maybe for us that covers sports is a ballgame. Don't mean, not unless it's a national championship or whatever. I mean, that's kind of a I don't agree with that. I look at it any time you get a chance to buckle it up. It's a big deal. I think the results would say to the contrary I think when you look at bigger programs when. When they're not playing for a national championship since we put in this system before. Now have the college football playoff system. Tasr? I think you've seen Dow performances by teams in bowl games from bigger conferences, where they realize they're not playing for a national championship. I think on the whole if you look at the results of those teams they've underperformed I have not played to the level that you saw in the regular season. And I think the reason is I'm telling you that they don't enjoy playing the game or that seniors are not, but there's a different level. There's a different level of intensity. When there's something on the like, I don't care about the Sugar Bowl. I mean, they're they're trying to win a national championships. I completely disagree with you. Walkway disagreement. Why do you guys that's playing up? What was those guys that are gonna and I'm not saying I agree with that? But those guys that are going they want to go to they put themselves out there. They don't wanna get hurt. They saw it worked for guys like McCaffrey and guys like four that you know, they sort worked for them. So they tell me that they don't the game does have much meaning, but it's no hold on a second. But it's unfair to if you have one or two guys on said program that does that it's unfair to encapsulate the whole whatever seventy five man roster, sixty five minute, whatever's on it's unfair to say that about all those players, and those families in those coaches, it's very important to these people. Hence, why the stadiums are usually packed. Hence, why guys are getting injured these games because they hate and hard their plane holiday training, odd. I it's tough to answer the question your answer. No like well. Why does it? Why does sometimes the better teams not play as well? That's a tough question on anything. Game. Georgia BULLDOGS last night where a two touchdown favorite moves. And they played like they were basically playing a scrimmage game. I didn't play their performance stock. And I I'm I like Georgia. I thought Georgia was gonna smoke Texas. I did. And I was surprised that they didn't played good. But I don't think they didn't try. I don't think that the coaches, I don't think kurban small. Is nothing. That's that's. I just saying well the argument that I'm saying is that the same intensity is not there. There's a reason why. And it's I think it's I think it's a problem for bowl games. I of four months you look at the new year, six balls. I if you get the major bowls fiesta bowl the Sugar Bowl, those are pack. You look at some of these other balls earlier on the game. The games are not packed games. Are packed in mid-december. There's there's barely anybody. There that the games, and that's fine. You have so many ball games. How many bowl games this year thirty eight tons? I mean, there's so many bowl games. And that's fine. And I think the game I guess for central Florida thirty nine I guess right for central Florida taking on LSU. Yes. I think it certainly meant something for central Florida and LSU fell behind early again pushed around, and then they all son rallied, and they won that game by eight or nine points and were the better football team. And I'm not saying that happens there. But I do think there are specific examples of teams in games was that the same Michigan team against Florida with. Their four four their best players know also people say, well, how did how does Jim Harbaugh based on one game against Florida? How did Jim Harbaugh get to a Super Bowl or how? Well, how do you have the success at Stanford? I mean, come on, let's be realistic here..
Red Sox beat Dodgers to win 4th World Series in 15 years
"In four eliminate the Astros in five eliminated. The Los Angeles Dodgers in five games. They'd be two hundred win teams in the regular season never faced elimination game. Even with all the issues that at one point in time, you thought they had in the bullpen and that was alleviated by Alex Cora. Using the starters like porcelain sale as you saw closed the game out last night and native all the become a red sock hero with the way that he was used in this postseason and pitched very very effectively even in the extra inning game. What he was called upon after he pitched the first two games out of relief. It's just a remarkable performance and your hammer that point home, TASR fact of sale was not brilliant in the series Kimbrell was not brilliant to this. The series. JD Martinez was not brilliant in this series was brilliant in this series. I mean, look at the the big stars of the Boston Red Sox that if think about and he didn't really get one of those with to sensual series from either one of them are really for the most part of the postseason. But if you look in the World Series, you just didn't at all. And there they were celebrating last night in Los Angeles. Yeah. And you know, look we've seen David price ride. The guy was he in this postseason as opposed that in past previous policies, he stunk this one here. Unbelievable for the Red Sox. Unbelievable. And you got to tip your cap to him. He was spectacular. And and he's proud as a peacock about it. And he should be felt good for price. Yeah. Man. Really? Because he he had it rough dude he had real rough. I mean in the past, you know, but he he looked last night. Seven innings. I believe a seven innings of work three hits a Iran and five stri thrives Shrek outs to walnut walks up tremendous. I mean, you gotta tip your capital guy who really really redeemed himself. He did and was talking to himself himself up on the mound as well. As we saw over. The course of the game last night in Los Angeles. It was just a quintessential price performance. He doesn't throw the ball ninety five ninety six miles an hour anymore. We know that he's had issues with the Red Sox media. The Boston media up there and being touted one point in time. And he's put that in the rear view mirror. And it was great last night, regardless of whatever happens with the rest of his contract and the contract that they signed him to he's not worth it. But they signed it to him nonetheless. You win a World Series for the fourth time in the last fifteen years. The Boston Red Sox are World Series champs. And it's amazing everything that's transpired since their comeback four against the Yankees. How before that? Whatever could go wrong did go wrong. They come back from three games to down in that two thousand four AL CS first team in professional sports history to do that in baseball. And it's a remarkable remarkable comeback. They win the World Series that year, and they've just become aside from their failures past two postseasons, they become the preeminent winner baseball. They are the team and they used to be as a team that expected failure in the postseason. And now they
