"You didn't episodes. There was an episode. There is an episode. it's season seven. It's called sub rosa by many counts by many people they would say it is the worst episode of tng okay. It's a beverly crusher episode where she goes the like some scottish colony kind of like scottish disneyland or something. I don't really know how to describe it but her grandmother has just died and turns out like there's this ghost hanging around this is sucking the life out of her grandma and now this ghost is like attached itself to beverly. But it's this romantic relationship that they have hot. But it's really this parasitic go sucking energy off. It's weird it's not good. He's weird pay. You know given how you feel about a lot of episodes because everybody else you might love it. So every episode is somebody's favorite. So you know that one might be yours buddy so no. I don't think so. That's why this episode is not your favorite. There is no guidance and there was no wesley. That's why it's not your favorite very true. And i didn't go back and think it all the way through but going into this episode. One of my first thoughts was man. I hope they don't leave anybody out of this episode like anyone major like made like that'd be the weirdest things like we're gonna have the series finale and he's not going to be right or something like that but like they brought back tasha yar. They wouldn't even back. Wesley didn't bring recklessly breath. Guinan even like in three time periods. So it's not like oh he's off something here. You went back in time and too far back in time. But as they showed us from season one reiger you didn't even need to bring them on set out and we'll talk about that when we get to that part of the episode. Hey do you have questions. Well i gotta tell you for me. Personally i'm on the way opposite side of you..

"To the point where everybody was oh. Yeah. Of course, I need to go talk to an expert I. Mean you know when my when my kidneys not working right I talked to an expert why wouldn't that be the same thing for when my brain is fucking with my suspension isn't working quite random here in sounds and my car I go to the mechanic I'm feeling thoughts that I'm having difficulty dealing with A. A therapist or a counselor or psychologist There's absolutely nothing wrong with it and I think that might be a legacy of religion I know that in the some of the news things that we cover on the nonprofits is people saying that if you're not going to God with your problems, then you're worshiping Ano- Shannon cutic- video about that Thought was really fantastic about this stigma against secular therapist that is to say actual therapist that used scientifically proven methods to help with mental health issues as opposed to some kind of a a pastor who is going to turn to an ancient book that that. That has very antiquated views toward. Women and foreigners and things people like that. But no talk to somebody. I I'm not going to advocate for the use of illegal drugs. All right. Just for the record. Don't do that if it's illegal where you're at however with that said, I, have some friends who have experimented with different kinds of substances that has helped them get through some of the anxiety ridden times of their lives that helps gives them a little bit of clarity direction that helps them shoot that curl again I think it's a little dangerous to. Do it, but they found it to be very helpful and I know that the the scientific research behind that is ever increasing, and so hopefully, within the next ten years will have therapeutic uses of hallucinogens or other kinds of drugs that will help people maybe reset the chemicals in their mind help them see the light at the end of the tunnel when it comes to that black pit of death that we're all headed toward supplies don't watch this show just before you're gonna go to bed watching the bright in the daytime. Something Circuit My my my point is It's not it's it's more like an inconvenience not an existentialist problem might my life is is okay and I action managed to three the team, the symptom, and the voice, the voice, or simply by listening to audio books or something with Minded, preoccupied with the results of this study and I get over it and it has a lot. If you have someone who love gone and you can cuddle it, I'm just saying that system is gone and I can work around it. Easily the problem I. my question is this the of aeneas I am I fucked up boarded a be. And I understand you're answering. Thank you very much. The talk not you're you're you are as. As all of us Yep you. Question. May I have another question? I'll will allow it. Let's make it quick. 'cause we got we got some really great callers on here and What do you got okay. I ended up very quickly is. So how does funeral SORTA eight they? How funeral service foreign atheists should look like? How does it look out there? There's no, there's no. There's no answer to that. The funeral for an atheist could be whatever that atheist once it could be whatever that atheist family wants As far as I'm concerned, you can cut me up into pieces parts, give them to whoever and forget about me of if you WanNa do something have a little party and and if you know by the way if if I'm going to be expected to carry out, for example, my parents wishes with regard to religious funeral on their. Behalf, I'm going to do that because that is their wishes I'm going to respect their wishes and it's the same thing that I would want to happen for me and so I don't that there's no set atheist funeral. There's no right answer to this What you should do is write down whatever instructions and guidance you want for your thorough and make sure you get that to the people who think are going to respect it other than that. I don't know that there's anything really add. Yeah. Say You know Whatever you think would be meaningful to the people who survive right Some people want them to want themselves to be remembered in a in a very somber serious. They were important person way you know I guess honor the wishes of the deceased with it with a mind of making it Making. The survivors appreciate who this person was but again, it's it's whatever the deceased wanted and if there's no guidance, I would try to frame how important a person was in your life I hate to mention Star Trek again. But but when Tasha Yar dies at the end of season one, they have a little. She leaves a message behind a to the different people on the bridge of the Enterprise Captain Picard. You meant so much. You're like a father, a mentor data we slept together it was. Awesome in your really swayed you know Reicher your bad, ass you know whatever will convey that person's life so that we can really appreciate because you know we can. We can wish that these people continue onward after death we can wish all we want. But the fact is they had an effect upon us and we want to honor that effect so that in life it ends but are effect doesn't end it trickles out into the universe and so there's no right way to do that. Whatever seems right That make any sense you at a gourmet. Yes. If I may I I. Don't think I express myself. Correctly my question was how how was.

"You know what I'm going to have to frolic with the wallet because it had that little in. Ira's I like a lot going on my mouth so that one at least handle the different textures. That had not gone on and by always said you mean since the start of this episode. Yes it's like ten minutes ago. Okay Yeah Yeah Yeah so I I'll frolic. I'll follow liquids nut off with that Wallet One. It's going to be instant regret. I might not even make it through. It might just be like a quick hand holding them like you have cooties. It's GonNa be a quick nut. It's a very quick now. The quickest yeah and then I'm GonNa kill the sesame seed because closed `same then just of them. It does look like something that is dead and rotting. Yes and something that you would find growing in your toilet. It looks like the tar pit that killed Tasha Yar on Star Trek the next generation spoilers. Okay right so that's thirty years old. I don't care I I was just GonNa Watch that one season one anyway. So it doesn't matter the tar pit that got the Sabertooth Tigers spoiler alert. Okay I am going to kill the walnut. Is the one that reminded me the most of my old age of like dogs like? Oh when I'm old and I want walnuts. It's basically like already dead like imagine when you're dead and you're craving nuts. This is what they feed you. I don't know if ghosts do there. You don't know that they don't you know what I don't. Maybe that's why some of them are in a bad mood because they can't get nuts now where you're like you know what I could go for a walnut. They see the nutcracker yet here you got Angry else you talk about reminiscing rank and you ever like you're with somebody and they break your heart and you long for them omen. Somebody else comes along. Who like kind of reminds you of that person who really wanted? And you're like I bet if I squint hard enough and have sex with you that it'll be like the person who I loved ever happened to you. I don't think most people are that like self aware but yet neither am is never happened but imagine a thing that could happen at imagine. It's a thing that could happen. And that's how I feel about Lack sesame and my beloved sesame noodles if my sesame noodles left me forever and I was really really missing them and I saw this I would be like. Oh you remind me so much of sesame mills for this moment is GonNa feel really special. But then you're disgusting. Get begun and that will be my frolic. That's why I'm frolicking with the sesame and My sister's in chance that his team I said very clearly that it never happened to me. I was imagining. I was wondering if maybe it had happened to them. He was talking about amy just lead. Ver- family can say that absent. The love in the NEAR LOVES IN THE REMIT REMINISCENT EVERY WEEK. She saying about transferring feelings from one person to yeah just project like this is sideways. You look like people. I love laid sideways. We look dead anyway. You just talk about giving us the side again that happens and he's GonNa marry the old and decrepit. This is the one I want here with me if I ever get to a point where I can't chew peanuts or peanut. Butter is just too dry. That like I can't manage to swallow it but I still like like I'm on a liquid diet and I still need peanut butter. This one's going to be here for me through all of those trials and don't worry about because as long as I'm around I will blend Reece's for you well if you don't like when you need it you don't that. I'm not your manservant right now but day when you need but someday you'll be my man servant. God I did just say that. Didn't you kind of remind me of somebody can? Yes.

"Yeah like she absolutely would totally true. Although I do feel bad having never thought having never given this more than eight seconds of thought I feel really bad for Tasha Yar having to kiss data when he has no. So what is that like? Oh she's using a mouse with no saliva would feel like a leather couch right. Yeah it's like kissing tongue kissing a cat is you gotta do is actually rough. Yeah man paper in their Dherinia and Shit that Iranian Mesh. Yeah it's like making out with the whole of the enterprise can't feel good know. Some people must be into that though you imagine ration though I mean rock-hard oh yeah derain hard and for as long as you like All right let's move on Picard and Troy Room over a child that she lost named Fad Picard promises that he sold. You're going to be out of their hair. As soon as he figures out their next move and Troy is understandably worried about her daughter. Yes this is the other side of Reichstag as long as you want. We'll batten down the hatches. And repulse any invader and troy's like Actually you know our daughter worry about her you. You haven't seen apparently so here's the thing about being a broken person. Reicher Troy. He's only visited two times as far as I can tell since the series is over the movies are over like He he he and he forgot one of The Times. He stopped by when dad was just a baby Bright it's so weird to he. He just phantom of the opera everybody on his Chateau in France Yeah I mean I think it. It adds a little color to the whole scenario. Like you under you. Start to understand more. About how broken of a man. He must have been at point. Because we haven't really seen the aftermath of star of the federation like saying we're not gonNA use our starship to help you out anymore. Yeah we we saw the immediate aftermath. But psychologically we haven't seen the fallout right So moments like this. I think shed a lot of light on the demand card as is GonNa say I I love love. Love this moment where troy sort of steels herself before she walks into that room It says so much. In that moment she is closed. Her eyes takes a breath and then puts on you. Know a happy face essentially. She says they're fine but she's clearly like fighting back tears. It's yes I don't think he ever get over that especially since it. I don't think it's been more than a couple of years in the past. It doesn't seem like yeah Not sure how long it's been win win win. Did the sense attack. Fourteen years ago but they said that would have been eighteen. And I don't know these timelines straying. I was thinking that is going to be eighteen. That means Reicher and troy had like a toddler in the nemesis timeline. I don't remember them mentioning anything about it. I've only seen that movie once. Yes I think. That's how the time line would work out unless I'm mistaken. You can have kids on starfleet chips. Now they said that Our kids grew up on starship. That's why they invented this home world now that I I enjoyed that When I didn't enjoy in fuck you for making me now not be able to notice this but you're right the music on this show just the baseline first of all. There's too much of it. Yeah it's like wall the wall and it just follows the emotion. The scene so close comes off as cloying and I don't know how to explain it like like just individual turns of expression on actress face makes the key gopher minor to major or it reminds me a lot of like Forgetting Sarah was up forgetting Sarah Marshall. Jason Segel's character. He composed music for the Shitty. Like syndicated crime series. Parodying like all he does just like Meyer. It's the most generic. It's not even generic. It's IT'S IT. It actually detracts from to seem. Though 'cause I noticed kept on noticing it like It it's like the show doesn't have the confidence and maybe maybe rightfully so to just say like we're going to let this moment stand on its own. Yeah we're GonNa let you get through the performances and the directing what you're supposed to get emotionally out of the scene. It's like punch it up. We need we need something here because it's just not working. Give us a music. Cue and I thought a lot of stuff here work as far as from an emotional from an acting from just affection for use character standpoint but I do think the dialog wasn't helping them out and a lot of different. This seems fine but the one later on choice talking about positive traffic matrix and all that Yeah we'll we'll get there we will So we go back to the US arena. Where Riaz realizes they're being followed by Someone Eric. And they decided to shake him There's a Romulo snakes ship. Apparently yet. Yeah you get snake leaf. You got snake this. The twenty th century is obsessed with snakes fan. Sure yeah he gets the snakes in the grass. I Dunno smoking state grass so Girardi expresses some second thoughts about being on this mission. She wants to go home and trying to figure out why roffe offers to get her some some Dank snake leaf or or cake which whichever works for Giradi. She's going to be making some snake snake. Leaf butter okay. There are a couple of things here. We're GONNA write that cake that I just. I cannot abide okay. First of all Romulo Visit Cubes Man. This fidget spinners are such a fad. That have already gone out of starter. You're showing your ass already As far as aging yourself. This is like putting Romulus pogs into the show. This will not be a thing ten years from now. No Kid will know twenty years from now. What a fucking fidget spinner which might actually make it cooler like if he dislike has this thing. He's fidgeting with all the time and you don't know what the thing is it's more alien right. I guess like as opposed to like Romulus playing alien you know Ronald mah-jongg and Romulo Briggs cubes three dimensional chess worked for me. I don't know what's a game of three dimensional chess while he's Paiva. Yeah or some. That would impress me. Maybe haven't hit that snake leaf. Pipe make it work. This is endemic scourge. That's like it's like the opioid crisis in the twenty first century. As snake leave sweeping the galaxy yeah In the snake leaf gutters the other thing about this scene which blows my mind. Is that really makes a big deal about Eric or the ship. Just being barely out of sensor range like just on the edge of their sensors can't quite get a lock on it. He's doing such an amazing job. Piloting the the boundaries of where they can detect him and they show a shot where you can see. He's can't be more than a kilometer away. we'll get our sensors that can only sense kilometer away men so rarely star Trek. Is this noticeable? But like if you take a shot every time WARF says ship is approaching. Its three hundred thousand kilometers away and then they show the external shot and they're like five football fields away from each other. Okay and it's the idea of like zipping around half impulse power which I always understood is like half the speed of light like elmo Guinea sub light combat in Star Trek should just be like a blur. No one can see anything going on. But instead the ships are due any stately banks and slaloming and taking these slow potshots at each other. But yeah it's really. It's very obvious when they show a shot from underneath their ship and by and they're making a point that like he's just outside my age. It's stupid if he had. If you had a space rear view mirror he'd see the right. You can look out the back window. And so here's a question I've got. Why doesn't Nerik ship cloak? Because then then they could do a whole bunch of stuff like you know Rio says I because I believe the real ship has got like military grade stuff these price souped up because he starfleet former command officer and say how bad asked US SNAKE SNAKE. Leaf ship his. It's true and then. Why wouldn't it be a equipped at the cloaking device and he could be getting tacky on disturbances that he's you know the last few times. I've made a minor course correction. I've seen this off the thing. And but now they just have him noted feel too much like a star Trek Old Star Trek episode. Yeah yeah the use their brains to solve problems instead of the broncos. Yeah no I see. I've got the actual solution here. It's because the cloaking controls are on the left hand side and he's just fidget. He can't he can't put that damn thing down right right. You can't reach it with. His other hand has got crippling. Romulo CD right. It's really inter- for me. At the performance of his job do this. He needs to get some some help. He's a check himself into this disturbed wing of the glow the Borg Cube. So then we go back to car trying to keep Reicher from knowing too much about the danger there. In as Reicher makes pizza regular introduced himself to so g than her and cast her head into the woods after. Soji learned this language in two minutes which causes breaker to use that the towel. She are after her because she's data's daughter and then he warns Picard. He can't control the dangerous situation quite the way. He used to Sweets wood-fired Pizza of GAM. They're really really like go into that. In like a breaking bad here as much as as much as they can What did you think about so jeeze? Data trademark data head. Till like. There's been none of this before you're right. You're one hundred percent right. I don't I don't know how to explain. She would suddenly have this tick is going to stop using contractions now to like. I suddenly cannot use contractions captain. What's what's happening. Yeah little on the nose. I mean honestly she. She just dropped the fact that she read a whole fucking book in two minutes. Like you don't need to do the the head tilt I don't understand well. The head tilt was like I guess. Reicher must be familiar with synthetics in general to know that there would be a distinction between the way the data tilts his head in the way that a regular synthetic tilt his head. I don't know because what does that even mean. That's all just that those were all just a personal quirks soon. Gave the data right. It's that's the thing that tips. It's not like if you have a positron brain. Your head has to tilt to the left at four. But that's the thing that tips off that it specifically data's daughter or has dated DNA which whatever the fuck that raid. Yeah it's yeah it's the. I'm just saying the metaphors. A little bit muddy doubt regular knows about the practical Naronha cloning and shit like come on because I mean that's the thing I guess I would believe if he was really up on android because died and that's kind of alert. Maybe he's like okay. He's like Nick Nolte in Lorenzo's oil. He knows he's got a fucking medical medical degree in his. Very niche niche per piece of science. Speed a niche with a fuck you Lorenzo's oil Lorenzo. No yeah it's like Nick. Nolte's got a kid that Scott this very rare degenerative brain and it's a real life story about these parents who did all this research about different therapies and there's a particular of oil that health re sheets mylan and dog studies and they were one in any way they got it. Yeah Lorenza it's Lorenzo's oil. And I I can't remember if that actually was a big deal to help people or it was snake leaf oil and didn't ver- moving no motion picture nick. Nolte's best film. I I do love this scene Just the Reicher and Picard interplay. I mean this entire episode. It's fantastic and picard and troy like there's so much to love about these reunions Reicher. I appreciate how much not none of them have. Lost a single stamp like Ok p cards quite a bit older Picard is not the same man he was but when he's around his old crew he sort of starts to step back into that role a little bit with their product. And I think that's the thing that always made star Trek. So good to me is how everybody worked so well together And Fed off of each other. Yeah real collaborative It's all over these scenes. So then troy gives so g her first non replicated tomato which makes her question the validity of Ron Existence. And they talk about languages that Thad made up that a fight over five minutes about whether it's tomato or tomato right that's deleted scene and they talk about the language that had made up and then the disease that he had and it turns out. It could have been cured by Cynth- but they were banned. And then so jay explains that you can't trust anyone because of what he did to her and gets pissed. When card makes a point about living with suspicion Then troy totally lays into picard for fucking up. That interaction tells him just be the Old John. Lucar that everybody likes not this ridiculous French accent. Having Shit bag there nobody likes. Yeah stop this sinister sinister right. I don't know there's A. That's some good techno babble to the whole the trek new babble..

"Katherine Kathy Garett died. I'm like okay. She's she's going to be stuck on that ship before they discussed the senseless deaths thing and I. I was thinking like yeah. She's going to be. They're going to have to escape quickly. So she's GonNa be stuck on that ship even though they can be things instantaneously but whatever that that's just what's going to happen and yeah her death will be able to mean something but like show show have play a part but still be gone out of this time line right right and I I like what he says they can kill her rights so Tasha goes to see gap Ricard's request a transfer to the enterprise. See she tells picard. Guinan told her and that she doesn't belong here. There's no logic in the race request. Because she's going to die anyway but at least if Tasha is tactical they're going to have a chance to defend themselves well. She had a meaningless death in the other time line but now she has a chance to have a meaningful death and that's all picard. Needs to hear permission. Granted I do love this idea. And if there's a message that I can pull out of it and I don't know that the writers were intending this particular message. But it's one than that. I like I like doing do something well finish. Well perform. Well do do things well right. And she was like if we're going to go out in a blaze of Glory. Then it's going to be the brightest blaze you've ever seen in your life i. This is a doomed mission. Then damn it. We're going to do it. Great and this is GonNa be amazing and we're gonNA give it all. We got to go through like I love that idea. I love that that piece of listen. We're going to go. We'RE GOING TO DIE. That's fine But this is GonNa be amazing the way we're going to do it and it hearkens back the things that that. I like the movie three hundred. I don't know if you've ever seen that like it's doomed thing. But the way they went out was all you know what I mean like like I. It's IT I can't think of other examples off the top of my head but I know I've seen it. Where so Armageddon Armegeddon you know like like the sack where the sacrifice is just awesome and and so you have something like that so now anyway over on the Sea. Castio seems to be getting the ship in order when he looks over. There's Tasha Yar reporting for duty Sir. She'll take tactical. Seo doesn't want her there for obvious reasons but she isn't backing down so casteel backs down in tells her to take her station as he assumes the captain's chair and it's basically what I expected at that point. So hey listen all. The pieces are set for the final. Act of the of the show Let's get to it. Acts Five and in the words of Kim Grey poupon. That's act five done. Yup that's really all that five was face battle. Yeah Yeah it was just our action sequences we well. I shouldn't say we don't get a lot of ice. I haven't seen much of though you're right. We don't get a lot of these there but not not really to this not this extent however I will say when they planned for this episode. This was the episode that they premiered during what they called sweeps week. I don't know if you're familiar with that term. That's the way they figure out the ratings and stuff you put your best episode out during sweeps week this so that's the one you pump your money into an all your special effects and everything but anyway for for sake when we actually do it properly hugh the cool orchestral war music. The KLINGONS are closing in on their position. The Enterprise d could outrun the KLINGONS but their mission is to protect the and make sure that they get back through the rift. Let's make sure history. Never forgets the name enterprise and I'll stop right there at that line right there. Please do yes. I had to stop and think like wait. Is that the deadline. He used in the intro. Our show Mats Bats. Yes that is the line that we originally had in the INTRO. Music of our show. Okay I turn. If you four you have heard it before and I had to because it's such a great line. Yeah let's make sure history. Never forget the name enterprise except this is how it happens in the show because you gotta pull the clip right orchestral music swelling. Very loud in the background sounds of war happening all around and this is how he goes. Let's make sure history. Never the name enterprise okay. So that was. It was a very hard to put into like Abbott clip from everybody yes. He channeled his inner Kirk. And but but did there's there's the music behind it and I'm trying to like on a production level for us like I'm trying to put that in a bed over the under music that we have playing thoughts. I I totally understand. I just like I heard this before somewhere. I think Oh okay right. Because that's such a great line. Let's make Shaw history. Never forgets the name into this and I mean nobody can deliver that line. Like Patrick Stewart can't like that is that is just a so good? Reiger is back at tactical and they engage the klingons pretty cool nineteen ninety space battle ensues which consumes ninety percent of this act. The Enterprise D is having an effect. But it's also getting its tail whipped. We're just two minutes away from warp core breach but turns out the only needs fifty two seconds to enter the rift so more explosions happen. Reicher dies card hops the banister and takes tactical for himself and spry little fellow. Just the the hop. Oh Hey idea. Just as fire erupts on the bridge. They managed to hold off the KLINGONS. Just as we see the enterprise C reenter. The rift flashback to the bridge of the D. Oh Hey this is the bridge of the D. That we know this is the bridge of the knee that we love. It's bright it's warm. It's cheery and there's a Klingon back tactical turns out it was just a little blip on the scriptures. Oh well it's time to move on guidance. Calls Up to the bridge to make sure everything's okay. It's all fine guidance. Good she smiles as she sits down to have a drink with Georgie Zeh. Jordi told me about Tasha Yar the end but this is even more questions so so it works both ways for I I either don't know enough for just don't remember enough. Button has Guinan actually met Tasha. No no the diaper. They didn't have an overlap. They did not. Guinan came on at the beginning of season. Two Tauscher was killed off in episode seventeen or something like that one. I think when we first saw guidance we possibly the idea like windows guide and actually come on the ship like maybe she's been around with just not gone to that part of the ship yet. Exactly no and actually I think they said very clearly in this episode. Like I'm not supposed to know you or I don't even know I'm not supposed to know who she is. That's kind of why I think they are. They've brought very well especially for people who have been following the show the entire time right. Wh- when she just says you know she says Hello Tasha the in the first time And like Tasha doesn't necessarily think it's weird but Guinan kind of gives us that inflection and say. Oh that's weird I'm not. I am not supposed to know this but I do and And so from from that moment in which was really Kinda reiterated here at the end when when she's asking Jordi up to tell her about Tasha. I didn't I was trying to figure out what she should know what she shouldn't. And how weird this actually is so then like when she brings up she's dead or should be dead. It's like okay. I guess either way. She would know that she could have heard stories about the former officer who died shortly before she came onto the ship or whatever but then I was wondering actually started. Wonder More Y. Guinan didn't bring that up to the captain. Says I thought for sure in my mind like Tasha eventually did kinda mentioned it to the captain and he had an odd reaction which I'll get to in a minute but I thought Guinan was going to bring that up sooner. It's like hey there's this theoretically dead girl on the ship like I thought that was gonna be her more proof to Picard. It's like I need something more I ne- because like right. After I beat something more conversation they come come down and it's like oh there's Tasha like she gives her that look like that's your proof. Go to go again and then when Tasha brings it up and specifically card like she thinks I'm supposed to be dead and he s is reaction. It's like oh she thought it was okay to tell you that or she thought she should tell you that by he knew already right. And who's there always had problems with that line like? I'm not sure what what Picard means. When he says she thought it was okay to tell you that. Wait a minute what what exactly. What are you inferring by that? You know I'm I'm confused here so now I'm with you on that but you know again. I think you're having all the right questions that somebody who's watched this episode for the first time as opposed to have okay like all the okay. What is what is she doing. Get what did we learn here? What is she? I gotta go back and watch this episode again so I can catch. What's actually going now that I know what's happening. I can up on the first half of this episode going back a second time. He's going to be a whole different watch right so all right all right two more production notes Matt and then that's all the things that I have So you know Reicher died. Notice like he had like it wasn't just a plasma and like he had something like embedded going on they they definitely made sure he was dead. Right we knew he was dead so originally he wasn't the only one that was supposed to die. Data and Wesley were also supposed to die Data was supposed to be electrocuted. As say how do you how do you kill an Android selectric Udom? Okay and Wesley was supposed to be decapitated. Oh Yeah can't show that on. Tv. Well for budget and time constraints and all the sort of things and censorship but in the script it actually. That's that's what happened to those two and then I think this is the very first time I've ever actually pulled this out. But there is a goof. The end of this episode. Oh boy there's a continuity error things all right at the very end. When Guinan is talking to Jordan? Which by the way I understand why it couldn't have been more what I really want it to be wharf. I want to book in the episode with her talking to war. Yep I fully expected to be worth right although I do like the idea of seeing Whoopi Goldberg talking to Lavar Burton. Who Lavar Burton was instrumental in bringing Whoopi Goldberg onto the show? It's it's the little like he got last week whenever I talk about locks on a troy talking to the computer. It's her talking to herself share. It's just that that little thing for me anyway Did you notice anything funny about what Georgie was wearing It was short and I I. I had other questions on my mind so I probably didn't notice too much. It was the uniform from the alternate time. Line play so just just a just an error on their party near and it was just like five or ten seconds seen in so I don't think he even necessarily set anything no I Don. I think yeah I think so. It's like Hey Georgia. We need onset for a second or just. Just sit here. She's going to say her line. Wh wrapped hey somebody commit Georgia. You're not doing anything anything. Yeah you know. Rikers got you know. Frac- says the the makeup thing going on? Yeah that's it man. That's that's everything I've got on this show so I feel silly and asking this but I do it every episode. I'll do again. You liked this episode. You're GonNa Watch it again and you understand why this was definitely a.

"Up to buy a car or buy online star Trek Star Trek mugs. You jobs and so my entire I want to say it was probably a good like two or three year stint of me mowing lawns and washing windows Owen cars. I would do anything dude. I was like a drug habit any I know like I need to get the Star Trek Book. Somehow and Yemen even in my freshman year of High School in Virginia. Which is where I started high school. I would legit bring a star Trek Book to school. I'm that Guy Dude so for me. I was like man. Listen like not beaten into submission but especially in Virginia like for high school. I was like exhausted. I think is the word I was just like. I'm tired I'm tired of keeping up with you people. I'm tired of caring. I'm tired of all this stuff. I'm going to what I liked about. The high school I went to in Virginia was at during lunch. You could pretty much go wherever you want it on campus. You didn't weren't stuck to the lunchroom. You can go outside so I would go outside to buy a tree legit. Eat My lunch retard. Heaven to me that's awesome. It was heaven and that was the better part of my freshman year was like nearly every lung. You're sneaking stuff into your house like under your coat and your mom's I think he's doing drugs like no no green star trek books. They think the book is hollowed out has a crack pipe in it. No it's a legit book. Might leave me alone. People in Van trying to get star Trek books exactly scratching my neck. You've got any of those star Trek mugs. That's awesome. I got three of these. I've already rented. Have you heard some of the about some of the things that were inspired? Inventions our inspired by Star Trek. Don't even get me started real life technology so I was something original series. Their communicators weren't on the badges. And it was like a hand held device that you would flip open up to activate to them talk on fast forward cell phones. Modern cell phones flip phones. Yep that's how they worked and the notion of. I used this to communicate with pretty much. Anyone whenever I want on my person I can get a hold of them around. Want Motorola even had a device a model car they didn't have rights to the Star Trek. They called it the STARTAC. Yes smart move and it was like had that was an hill. Yup Yup and take it a step further. I mean you don't you couldn't were you. Don't wear them on your chest but the watches now these these apple smart watches are so small and they do take phone calls so you could technically tap your watch and start talking to someone with the thing. That's so small you wear it on your lapel. Where there's the tablet? Yes flat screen towelettes. Dude were next generation. That's where those the next generation if you look at the thing because I had the technical manual bro. I bought the technical manual. It goes into the the fiction or design the cross section. Yes Yup it shows the cross sections it shows like the layout of the I think the acronym is a while. I want to say that and I forgot what it meant. I want to say L. A. R. S. Whatever they stood for anyway the next generation of remember looking at the panels. When when they've obviously those were glass panels had graphics on them that for the filming of the showed. Look with a little bit. But then when they did an actual shot on a certain panel sometimes it would actually change depending on what was going on like digital effects team would actually make the panels a little distance. The notion of dynamic screen was a next generation thing because think about it in the eighties. All the buttons. We had did one thing even if it was an LCD display. It wasn't touch sensitive. It was only showing you what it was but nothing was what I would dynamic display. You hit a button and it changes all the options on that screen. So dynamic display was the next generation concept. That's awesome and then I remember. It was like the early two thousands we. We bought a printer for my work and it was a dynamic display. The buttons. Your options would change based on and it was all and it was all LCD display. And I'm like this is the next generation. This is what I've been waiting for this whole time. So when I when I look at an iphone even now like this next generation technology. Right that's awesome. That's like that's what you dreamed about under the tree at school when exact lunch exactly. Oh I couldn't wait for the tech of Star Trek to start coming true that one of the things that kind of got you excited or white white people count like it's the yeah. The technology and the positivity I guess do yeah. I liked that problems that we have now weren't problems for them. Yeah and it seemed like well. That's Kinda how our technology works. I mean like you know one hundred years ago. Vaccinations weren't a thing. Sure and now. Polio goes away. You know what I Mac. Even now. You know the phone you talked about iphone. Yeah that iphone in nineteen ninety the processing power and the capabilities would have been tens of thousands of dollars correct. And it's in my pocket. Yeah yeah a thing that you charge at night by. Your bed was a thing that would fill up an entire room. Just a run you know. And so Yeah seeing those things. I'm like oh well we like. We could be that one day I I don't know about transporter stuff. That could actually be a thing well. I'm sure there's concepts. There's an episode. I watched the original series where the transporter gets screwed. Up and divides Kurkin half. Oh yeah he has the kind of the nice loving Kirk and the angry aggressive kirk yet. Have that combine them back again and so weird and so they have the Kirk. Caster William Shatner has to act both ways which you gotta be difficult Super Passive Karan angry and on that one. That's funny Dr McCoy. He's treating Kirk or somebody with this. His High Tech Little Hydro spray thing and then he reaches down and grabs. We'll just a regular spray. Bottle starts spraying. And with this disinfect. Oh no I've got to look that up. Yeah Yeah. It has the Cocker Spaniel with the Horn on the front row. Talk about again. This nineteen sixty six. You gotta understand that. A limited budget alien creatures that they had like do like you said the monkey with Ram Horns. Yes yes isn't any good? I don't think they got better later but at the same time I understand they got a little bit of a budget so so I can think about the time even the timeframe I was like. Come on guys really so for me the next generation. The silliest time I was like Oh gosh what are we. What are we doing guys was in the episode? They killed Tasha Yar. Oh Yeah which. She should never have left that show. What was that woman thinking how she thought she uses Big Star? And you go make a ton of money and then someone gotten her head man. She's on season two of that show and I need off and it's like what yeah like. I don't season to date. They killed her in season two. She was there for a full season and then season two and So season two. There are some weird like tar monster on a planet and I forget all the stuff but it's basically like just a hateful things off of evil or something like that. Yeah it's ghostbusters to slime and it manifests and humanoid kind of form and it's clearly some guy in some tarp covered jar and it just looks it. Looks like a guy covered in tar under a tarp. And I'm like that looks really bad. I don't care what anybody says. And so it was Kinda like He. He like that and next to the rate of the original series. At least for me the Cocker Spaniel with Horn. It's hilarious one of the ones. I thought was funny. There's an episode where it's called the Horta where like trapped in a cave and this cave monster that looks like it's made of rock. It's supposed to be made a rock or whatever and spot communicates with it and has like an emotional reaction but the effect of the creature basically like this blobby looking thing with a person under it and they're kind of crawling around as this rock thing and at one point spot gets up on trying to kind of like communicate with it and just the cheesiness of is enough that it's like it pulled me out even as a kid that doesn't age. Well I guess I don't know but I guess when you're getting the eighties you're like it's a space thing. Plus you're an actor and I think about people whose job it is it's like man. Your job is not to like wonder you. GotTa Act Your Butt Off. You gotta wonder what they're thinking. Yeah I would be curious like what are we doing here again? Yeah this is a guy under a tarp and we're just GONNA spray some oil on him. Yeah okay I remember. The Not much ineffective doesn't affect Colfax though practical effects. I'll take he got the crew got kidnapped. This planet were dislike the kid and it is a Kid. I think it was Ron Howard's brother actually little child king but he was actually like an adult because he had the voice of grown man. So it was basically Ron Howard's brother lip synching with a guy like Haha. After I brought you to my planet over it was dubbed over it sounded. It looks so bad. It's like watching those Japanese movies. They dubbed English over your. Yes just doesn't work. It's like a six year old face and body with like a grown man talking over. It was awesome again. They're they're really trying to tamp stuff. And Yeah coming up with these storylines and I don't know how how they came up with some of the stuff but it's again pretty groundbreaking like you said Star. Wars kind of snot stole but borrowed the concept. You know travel space and all that yeah. I think it's but I think people may be can connect with star trek better because it's it's our air quotes here. Our time liner. Yeah yeah exact- our oranges far away. Not even humans. I mean there's no the word humans not in their point. No one talks about humanity. There's no earth you know and so what I like about you know. And we said it a million times. It's not a big star. Wars is like space fantasy and a merger of those two. I think and you can call it science fiction too. I'm not that guy is going to have you. But I like that for Star Trek and I know this to be true for the first and the second series..

Are we going to have the same results of that? Bulkin Romulo in war is Trump par own ceramic. And if logic does win, we make leftist go through the the colon are. Am I saying that right? Sorry, I'm not a Trekkie more of a Star Wars fan or do they get their phone planet. You have taken this to a level of nursing. Not that I can't. It's not that I can't go there. It really it touches on a real, a piece of disappointment for me, which is that they never actually circled back and figured out if that Romulus and chick was tasha Yar like they, they dealt with a little bit like maybe it's talk yard broader or something. They said of the biggest question in the entire next generation, and it's got nobody cares that we care. And beyond that, I'm not going to answer that question next. I was introduced one thing, the one thing about Star Trek that I know had is really important do based on the Hornblower novel. Yeah. If you haven't read the novels are the greatest adventure novels ever really not never owned my you would love if you start reading Hornblower novels, we will see again, you will be whatever happened. Have been knowingly. You'll love him to death. They're, they're Shogren a bunch of fiction recommendation. I bought some of. I would also second that they're really great books, and I think that you can get them on your kindle for free because of the way that copyright laws work. They're so old that you even have to pay for them anymore. So check that out Ben. So some of Andrew. Harsh out question comes from subscriber. James who wants no Ben, assuming Trump keeps on the similar trajectory to his first two years. Are you planning to vote for Trump in twenty twenty? Yeah. Her not about from if he continues on similar trajectory. And I've said this before I had three chief concern with President Trump when he was candidate Trump. One is that who govern conservative because he said a bunch of crap all over the place. There was no guarantee of is going to be that has been alleviated. He's governed extraordinarily conservatively problem. Number two I had with him is that he was going to the Republican party and drive them to embrace positions and ideas that I found about some of that has happened, but it's already happened and it's not gonna be alleviated again by not voting for him because what happened is happened and now we're already there. So it's a little bit like, okay, now now the cars in the river. Now what you do Same the same thing. fairness that has been far less of the arrest Verschoor for sure. So I was worried that that the entire party was suddenly going, brace, tariffs and entire party was going to suddenly embrace the idea being soft on Russia or take the worst aspects of his rhetoric and then apply those broadly. And I don't think that that's been the case in most Republicans. In fact, I think most Republicans correctly Trump as more of a vehicle for policy priorities as thought leader, which makes sense because Butler's thoughts that always really, especially of young people show that this is not how young people think. So that's been alleviated and then concern over three is the one. It's still very much on the table and that is the toxication of the Republican brand by President Trump with growing demographic groups in the United States, it's obviously truth women, it's not quite as obviously with black folks, Hispanics. Well, it might be able to evidence there is kinda skimpy, but at the very least it's not really the question is deepening damage that already existed with those groups. Maybe maybe not with women, certainly with young with young people, young people do not like President Trump. I mean, this is just a fact millennial generation folks are not fans of President Trump. Every poll of millennials ever shows the Trump very, very poorly millennials. Again, the question is, is the damage done in the answer there is kind of, yes..

"Com to subscribe and ask your questions in our chat box. Evan wants to know to the God king with conservatives being based in logic and liberals based on emotion. Are we going to have the same results of that? Bulkin Romulo in war is Trump own ceramic and if logic does win, do we make leftist go through the the Cullen are? Am I saying that right? Sorry, I'm not a Trekkie more of a Star Wars fan or do they get their phone planet. You have taken them to a level of nursing. Not that I can't. It's not that I can't go there. It really it touches on a real, a piece of disappointment for me, which is that they never actually circled back and figured out if that Romulus and chick was tasha Yar like they, they dealt with a little bit like maybe it's talk yard broader or something. They said of the biggest question in the entire next generation, then nobody cares around that. We care. And beyond that, I'm not going to answer that question. What's next. "Tax from iheartradio. Remember standard data and message rates apply. First thing I want to start with here before we get to the circus is an Email. I got yesterday from a fellow who is listening to my show in Madison. Hang on. Let me pull this up. I put this up on my Facebook page because I was just I was I was simultaneously amused in appalled at the same time. No, it's not from a liberal. It's just a really short note from guy named Ryan. That says this happened about fifteen minutes ago. I was at a stop light in Middleton, Wisconsin and got yelled at and videotaped for listening to your program. I have never been so happy and so proud. So that was the amusing part is that he was psyched about that. The pathetic part. The appalling part is that you're just sitting at a stoplight. Listening to my show or a conservative talk show and someone starts yelling at you. And whipping out their phone to record you what possible purpose does the recording of someone serving. Shame him on Facebook. Are you going to say this guy was listening to Vicki McKenna? And at the time, I was talking to tell you what I was talking about the time. I was talking at the time. This guy sent me the Email with a friend of mine who's been on this program before as well Jim troop is he's a judge about Jim's trip to NEW GUINEA, and at the very moment she's screaming at this guy in videotaping him. We're talking about these women in this village in NEW GUINEA who are outcasts the tribe has turned them into outcasts because they're they're men abandoned them, and we were talking about the progressives claiming all of these Handmaid's tale imaginary scenarios about, you know, the non existent war on women in the United States. And contrast it with the story the real story of these women that my friend. Jim troupe is met on his trip to NEW GUINEA. Who were outcasts who not even we're not even given. If there was no scraps of food left. They would not even be given scraps of food. That's what the person was flipping out about. That's what I was talking about. When this guy was listening had his radio on and his card is windows down and got yelled at and videotaped. You know, you left this our psychos you understand. That's that's just that psycho stuff. That's that's that's crazy stuff. That's unique medication and therapy stuff. That is you should not be let loose to roam in in in a mixed society. You should probably just become a shut in and take drugs that's complete societal dysfunction stuff. That's what the left has become. They've allowed themselves to feed on the endless buff Fe of fake outrage. So here's this liberal sitting next to the guy got imagine this, right? It was a woman I think who is sitting next to this guy. And he's got to listen to a couple of people contrast. The the nonsense about this nonexistent war on women with a story about really oppressed. Women women who are cast aside from. A tribe in a subsistence hand to mouth existence. They're cast aside, and sometimes they can find food and sometimes they can't. And if they have babies with them their babies are left to fend for themselves as well. Can you imagine somebody who has been feasting on the on the buff Fe of phony virtue, signaling an outrage having to to even in the back of her head be bothered with this idea that she's full of crap? I love it. And she loses it, and how dare you listen to that person. I'm going to videotape peo-, that's psycho stuff. Those are the kind of people that you cross the store to avoid. They're the kind of people you'd you'd move away from in the restaurant. They're just they're just the kind of people who are nothing. But. What was the name of the of the of the episode of Star Trek? Remember, the episode of Star Trek the next generation the one that claimed the life of tasha Yar and they encountered this blob of black goo and the black goo was the hate and the ugliness and the misery in the viciousness that the race had poured into this black goose so that they could try to try to a radical, but it from themselves. That's what the left has become. They like the black goo they wanna bathe in it. They want to they want to scrub their armpits with it. They want to steepen it. Nothing else explains. This or well in real life that we're living in right now. Not.

"Oh, my gosh. Well, I read that there was one area of Geordies life that you thought was like the representation of that area on, you know, was lacking on the show and you said it was his sexuality is romantic life? Yeah, it always rubbed me the wrong way. If you really look at it, Jordi is a black man was the only member of that crew that wouldn't have in sex? Right? Klingon was having sex. Troy was having sex Reicher had sex with everything moving. That's true. But card was always getting some data had sex with tasha Yar Jordan couldn't get any for me. That was a sub-conscious omission. Yeah. We all have our native biases whether we are aware of them are not. And on a writing staff and creative staff of all white men did it surprise me? No. Do I believe they were conscious of probably not. What do you think that viewers would have gotten out of seeing. Jordy in more romantic situations, they would have, I think, gotten some of of that unconscious information that that sexuality is a normal part of this man's experience to directed a lot of episodes of deep space nine. And I happened to direct an episode where we had a romantic seem, then it was really important for me to portray this moment depict this moment with tenderness and Loveliness and ease and grace and humor. That was an image of black love that I hadn't seen enough of in in my television diet through of my life. So I want that to be a part of the lexicon. I'm wondering what images did you see growing up that you, you know that you saw but wanted to sort of move beyond or correct for when you were thinking of your portrayal of Geordie? That's exactly it. I didn't see a lot of positive images of black masculinity. In the media growing up. And so I felt it was given an opportunity, my responsibility to try and create some. It's so key that you said black masculinity, because when I think of Geordie, I think if somebody who is an actual leader, I think somebody who has a sense of humor, somebody who's highly capable, but also somebody with a kind heart and it's rare that you see all of those qualities together when you think about media portrayals of of black, masculinity and I think it's so key that you made that specific distinction. It has been one of the joys of my professional career genuinely playing playing this character. Sorry. I'm just like, I'm having all these memories of be walking around my mom's headbands over my eyes..
