Yeah Y- with the stars producers anonymous dancing with the stars producers toll page she's lying. We would never ask her to do this. She asks us to be on it and we set up all. This shadiest response from like an officials I mean, we know this is coming right from them because from like. ABC for sure. Darren claims she's been asked joined the cast many times. However, we have never asked Taryn to be part of the show her representation attempted to pinch her her representation attempted pitcher to us a while back we kindly passed. So her claim that she was asked to join Douglas Stars once never mind many times is completely false, and then they say her thoughts that the contestants consist of has been seems to be her own projection onto talent we have asked to cast. Like to thank God for the story, the rest of today's news is just like such a bummer. I just in has been sponsored content for a robot that carries her groceries. It's good spawn like it's not a bad of partnership for her. It's literally like a chic Italian, Rosemary Shane, it's extremely shake. Mike Gemstones Collins could be so lucky to get such a partner just sort of like out even just to how heavy like if I'm walking with Gita, could someone just run up grabbed my Gita and runaway. Keita's not on a leash probably. Keita's is a freak off leash is what Kida is. I do like that. It's a cool or what if I was carrying? What if I was carrying my mirror ball trophy in there? What if I wasn't? What I was leaving dancing with the stars and I put my mirror ball trophy in my data and. Follow me home someone could just I just WANNA spend thirty two hundred dollars on the -squitoes just on the off chance that could happen interaction wherein I'm walking around with Gita you pass go hey, what's Gita up to? That's fun right? Eye Naming. GITA. Aura and then like Gita. Then explodes. I definitely name Gita or. Also, could be Geeta. But we'd call her Geeta because it would rhyme more with. Rita. Yeah. One of the one of the questions. Keita's website is how fast as Gita, go get operates walking speeds at the six miles an hour can get a follow me indoors doors. The GITA doesn't use ups volume indoors and outdoors, and then is Gita safe. Says it safe. Could run you over to lightweight. "Is Charlie hedges on the next Chapter Charlie and talking with we're having our quarantine conversations and my first one is with my dear dear friend Taryn vogue at who is A Renaissance Woman In colloquial that's Gypsy but she's Done so many different things in one of the things turn has done. Is You listen to the first half of the PODCAST. You could see the the extents the extent of her corporate activities but she has an idea of genius that we talked about maybe over a year ago and and I think that's worthy of rehearsing. Talk to me about your concept the genius Taryn well the concept of genius. It's really evolved over time but I the way I've really come to understand. Geniuses would number of different things come together but I just taught a class on genius And the way I said the name of the class genius is a VERB PEOPLE JUNIOR. The now like Oh. She's a genius or over he's genius or oh that's genius but really. I think the way the better way to think about genus. Oh genius thing her. Oh she's genius thing. It really is a verb. And the reason I say that is because jinx about ultimately it's about focus it's about focusing on something to the extent that you're great at it or genus added and then those moments are those epiphanies are those others or the brilliant ideas in those Com as part of the process of Genius Sing But I love I love Michelangelo. You know the same sculptor and painter his best. Coda us all the time and he said if people knew how much work this was they wouldn't call genius and he said that he is being chapel right. I was like that so true. I wouldn't call it genius And I I think that's such a troop thought about genius. I mean you look at anybody whether you know the great geniuses of our times like the Elon. Musk swimming mean these are people that are so focused on the thing Connotations than a genius Would you say if would nealon Moscow? It a nealon. Musk that in this definition. Well so if I go back to. Jean has verb right. And you gotta think well. Then what are you doing when you're genius thing and what you're doing when you're genius thing is a couple of things is you're you're operating from some level of passion? You're excited about the singer. Cases excited about electric cars rocket ships and engineering and You know in other people's cases they're passionate about painting or dancing or accounting or whatever. The thing is right either some level of passion and then the second part of it when you're genius thing is there's all these components of what I would call strategy right like you're good at strategy and strategy has two sub components under it You're thinking about it in a way that maybe someone else isn't that is unique to you. My sister for example is a really quite a genius Baker and she's got a a bake shop and the way she thinks about it. She is operating from goals around baking. That are just so interesting you know like she wants croissants to be artisan looking. She doesn't want them to look all uniform. She wants him to look homemade but like it just came out of a fringe of it. You know. And so she's just operating from sort of own set of goals for what she wants something to be that are different than most other people's And so then there's a whole sort of budget other things around like I've noticed patterns and genius and sort of other pieces of strategy. Which we we've got into an another show we go back and listen to that but then I think the third part of it is that when you're operating from passion and you're and you're doing all the things that sort of are the patterns of Genius Become Intuitively Then the third party. You have those moments where you're really channeling something higher than yourself. You're sort of opening yourself up to something bigger in idea to come through an moments or like when you're painting you're really letting something move through you. And that really is another component of genius. And so the way I come to really understand geniuses that you know how those prisons like you know when you see a prison like a glass prism and when the sunlight shines through it It can often be enough power to create a fire because it's focusing a ton of energy from the sun into a laser like focus. That's really quite strong. And and I think that's such a great visual for what I think that the act of genius thing is is that were the prism or taking the infinite creative potential of the universe and we're focusing like a laser light through us like we are the prism and our excitement is what creates the laser break. And that's why I've come to think about genius and so like Keep Looking. Balon muskets such a great example of genius you know. He was considered crazy for the early part of his career with electric cars. He's almost failed a number of times. No one thought he was a genius. Electric cars up until the stock price at eight hundred and fifty dollars a share recently. And then all of a sudden. Now he's genius and what I would say is if the only a genius when cars are selling when he came up with the idea and nobody believes him that the problem is as a society. Really terrible at recognizing genius in the early stages Yeah you know he was. He's genius look at the look at the writers genius riders. That never never never became famous until they died. And at what point were they genius long before we recognize it but they were genius. All right Sounds like tearing? It sounds like it's it's something about a an intention. Oh and conscious it's to access yourself and your own beliefs rather than leaving believing in the beliefs of society and the believes the beliefs of culture and truly the the boundaries and dare. I used the the word. Now the quarantine we quarantine our brain into thinking that that croissants need to look a certain way or the biscuits need to learn to look a certain way rather than creatively and interestingly which she had two break a boundary she had two break a barrier in order to do that and that in and that gives an opportunity to make genius of verb is win. Emmanuel Jones one said we all have secondhand beliefs. Because we believe what's been told us to believe rather than search ourselves and investigate ourselves and search literature and find out what we really do believe ourselves that it that it is our our system. It doesn't have to be in line with anybody else. System is that. Would you think that has to do with genius? I think that those are the there. There are people that that have really pushed us to the next level in terms of inventions Or in terms of art or something right. I mean you look at who invented the first airplanes or the first microchips or you know some famous artists that really push the edge so I think sometimes genius is about really pushing the edge to something new but I love the idea of the everyday genius the people that are the most fantastic servers at a restaurant you've ever experienced. They're just genius way about serving you or You know a local chef that is just genius at what they do in their craft. And so I think that there there are genes that push push us to a whole new height. But there's also those that are just so exceptional with the day to day and they're really the everyday genius Everyday Genie. So they're really. They're really is in a sense to the traditional sense of genius. But you're talking about Jeanson everyday way that all of this all of us have access to and all of us do in some way you know. We're we're operating from a place of passion and excitement and joy and we're focused and we care about something like that is the energy of genius it just may take us a while to reach a level of mastery. But you're gina saying all along if that makes sense is this. What you're doing now is a genius. You're you're you're you're you're trying to. You're trying to hide your Gypsy your Gypsy self under the guise of.

"I'm Brian Bettas and this is no and insight a podcast about life with chronic illness. First off here's another quick reminder that I have a Patriot campaign now our which is a really simple way for listeners to support the show financially on a monthly basis. So if you've been enjoying the show and you also have a couple of bucks despair then then I'd be so so grateful if you'd sign up as a patron at patriotic dot com slash. No end in sight this week. I'm talking to Taryn Gilligan. About a whole lot of things but particularly about traumatic brain injuries lime disease allergies. PTSD and finding a lump in your breast. I also have a couple of content notes before we get to the interview so I this interview basically begins with a head injury and this story definitely sat me into precinct copy which you will find out pretty quickly if you listen to everything but if you are extremely squeamish like I am and I think we we know who we are. Then I'd recommend jumping forward almost a full nine minutes after you hear Taryn say women. Soccer is brutal like really. No exaggeration. admirations nine minutes. And I'm going to give you a super simple takeaway for squeamish folks Sorry for the spoiler gas but terron got a major concussion while playing playing soccer and had difficulty forming new memories and then she had a second soccer related head injury right at the end of the nine minutes that I'm telling you to skip so that's the big picture and if you're mildly squeamish than I just get ready to hit the skip button a few times beginning at the same point so beginning when she says women's soccer or is brutal. I listen to stuff that way sometimes. Just ready to skip any moment that I think is GonNa Freak me out but still wanting to hear it the the big details. So that's another option. Anyway Darren also talks about her experience with an eating disorder and the story is a little bit harder to just extricate the way that I did with the head injury but if it's something that you'd like like to skip then you should be able to do that by jumping ahead a bit as well as soon as she mentions it while she's in college so it comes up after she gets to college and I and it's it's pretty self contained so this part of the story does not have as much detail as a head injury. If details are something that are what you prefer to avoid it and if you have any feedback for me about content notes I would be so happy to hear them because everybody is sensitive to different things and I realized that therefore we start. Here's my disclaimer. This podcast is not intended as a substitute for professional medical advice. Diagnosis or treatment. Make sure you talk to your doctor doctor about any questions or symptoms So I like to start by asking people. How is your health as a kid? Ed I in retrospect having gone through all that I've gone through. I am very grateful to say that I feel like for the most part I had quite quite and I'd be like piled hood especially with my health I was pretty just like healthy. Hardy Kid I played a lot of sport and I. I was out and about constantly. Just very active I. My whole family has a bunch of environmental and like seasonal allergies. So that definitely something that I dealt with but typically only like one or two weeks may or something like that The other exactly the other thing that I kind of dealt with that. It was just kind of a quirky thing that happened is I would get strapped like up upwards the seven times a year like just any any type of cold that that took too long just turned into strap or like anything just like turn into strap while take a lot of antibiotics for that. Yeah Yeah I whatever. The bubble gum medicine was like amoxicillin or something like that. Okay constantly talk yeah and then I also also. My parents used to joke that anytime. Go over like a major hill or anything like that in the car. I might use a popular get an ear infection so those were the two things that just they were quirky about me. But it didn't. I didn't feel like it was like when I think back my childhood. They weren't things that like totally took a ton of my time or like. I don't know I didn't don't really think about them too much. Yeah I mean ultimately ended up when I was fourteen or fifteen. Got My tonsils removed but that was more so because it got in the way of Like some hobbies that I had and I was like you know I'm so tired of this. Let's just take him out so all the time time like I'm kind of just over it. So we ended up getting him out and made a huge difference which is great but other than that. No I mean childhood why why is especially like before I became a preteen now I feel like overall like it was a pretty great experience. Thank goodness had those memories like like back on now and so it sounds like things started to change. So what was that like. Yeah so middle school Again I was pretty normal. The only thing is shot. Like my menstrual cycle. Okay I got my period very in early at least for my I feel like all my friend group and stuff like that. I was ten. I just turned ten and That was fine but until I hit around maybe like thirteen thought it started getting very heavy and I was having cramps that were so painful about like I would get get sick or I just like couldn't get out of bed and I also would gain and lose like fifteen pounds like every two weeks. Okay and different pairs of pants. Yeah exactly Yup Yup kind of like working with my after ovulation in rural as the I would just like all the way up and and I had two pairs of pants over that being in middle school like a tough thing because as much as I feel like other people probably didn't notice I certainly noticed noticed and I also like with getting period early. I was already basically what I what I look like now like when I was thirteen years old though Meteo is just so yeah I was also a giant. I feel like in comparison. 'cause I grew so quickly but Yeah I think that was tricky for me but I went the Obgyn going on with my mom because like it was getting in. I had too many absences because of it and like you know you're pretty young but it kind of sounds like pm amd though at the time they're like we're going to put you on your house. which I think is around anymore? I think there's a lot of issues with ASD. I just remember. They were in every magazine for a while. They had a really aggressive advertising campaign for a short. I think it was the reason I did. That is because it's one of at the time was that's one of the only birth controls dot had diuretic properties in it so it kind of helped level out all the water retention than I regain every two weeks which which was really nice and so I ended up being on that and then it turned into Biaz because again I think that there was some like legal issues with like blood clots or something like that? They had to change it but I was not for about eight years and during that time I feel like I was pretty pretty solid with my symptoms. Held up at pain pain and weight regulation where the big things right for sure and like I was at my cycle like every first of the month it was super easy Luckily I mean one good thing about my cycle regardless like a beyond birth control it was always consistent insistent and this was a lot. Yeah so other than that. It was pretty much so that wasn't an issue for me for a while But then kind of going chronologically Then I got into high school and an important thing to know is I like I said it was very active in into sports all my life. I I played soccer like ever since I could walk. I played premier. I play like a local town levels and for school and everything everything like that and I played your round traveling around and it was just like a huge part of my identity by love to do and so I was is on my high school soccer team and I was goalie And I was yeah I think I. It's funny because I you had written about this fire and I think it was like September twenty first thousand seven It was an early game in in the season and we were away and so what's tricky about this is i. Don't remember like about two years of my life so all all of their say. It's the ads like I'm like an unreliable narrator technically like in my own story but these are all they feel like my memory which is such a weird thing to say other so vivid. But I think that's because I've adopted on my own I think bits and pieces. I do actually have the memories but most of it I think is a Moshe. I remember the emotion of a moment and then create kind of more of the visuals and the experience like in my mind if that makes any sense really does because yeah. Yeah memory's unreliable anyway with. It wasn't the same but like yeah that but more exactly so where I go from here. In terms of from the smelt man in September. Two thousand seven up until Powell be like the end of my sophomore year of high school. These aren't technically really my memory. kind of sharing like what. I don't know the story of my life. I guess what happened to the best of your knowledge. Yeah exactly so so with that being said I. We're in an away game. I was in goal Apparently a girl kicks the ball to another girl. Okay she kicked it. It didn't go as far into the boxes that she expected it to And so I go down to pick it up. I kind of like with both hands on the ball like pushing it towards my chest. I'm kind of crunch hunch. Down on the ground a little bit this girl these that it's in my hands and female soccer. I feel like we always assume that like men's sports are more aggressive but like women's soccer is brutal like brutal and so Jerry Jerry sees it in my hands. She knows that I have already. And she goes and she slide tackles me but her cle- catches my left left temple. Yeah so that's why I'm like. This could be a little bit. Yeah and this is one hundred percent where I get a little bit squeamish to say at all. And if you'd in writing my own absurd squeamishness Mercer like no worries the she apparently hits my my left hand bowl..

where she was going into that double and where she is now we're seeing her in a whole new light on we're talking about an whole night and as a nicole fan as someone who was assaulting dear nicole has been a fan and ecole pretty nice to see i will take yeah let's say it's been such an impressive run where sure the odds on favourite to win right which is crazy i mean honestly think about just like the roundtable from last week and where we were basically saying like she's got to win something or else she's never gonna win this there's no way because the main argument going into the end was well well nicole hasn't done anything for these ago right exactly that's the thing is it just it everything is different now i feel like everyone's account nicole nicole hose the winner she's coming into the stretch like melissa draft whereas like a couple of weeks whoever wants their draft sucks so i hope nicole pulls it out because she is the only remaining person who may draft you know i it's been such an impressive turnaround greenlee i'm so happy and mila side you have to commend you on your draft the incredible job to land mccall in brown it was all me i i knew she was going to be the last one i knew that i was gonna get her it was all knee just to reset that was that there were two people left on the board jess and nicole i had the fifteenth pick whoever i didn't pick was going to go to melissa and i said boy gesture nicole nicole lock your parents in the basement i'd like to river but it just seems like a more normal person and the call i can't i can't see you take good luck with nicole lewis and i was like no i like their video video up at a little video clip of it has been kind of circulating around on twitter today and it's just it's so embarrassing 'cause i'm like i didn't pick her i don't want her now go to call you got this you're by doesn't matter if it's victory nonetheless if ends up coming in for the call okay but we'll talk walk through all the scenarios for the game a little bit but let's just talk through what was going on in the episode clear we started with everything going on with tommy he was feeling sorry for himself and he ends up saying that okay i am going to end up coming clean to macbeth to jackson accident holly and he ends up telling the backstory of him in christie that they knew each other yeah so i love the way they set this up on the show because i feel like it was pretty much the exact same thing we were seeing on the feeds on saturday and it's one of those situations where they're just just talking so much smack about christie his face and he's just sitting there and taking it and taking it and then you just got i'd i just need to get defensive now and just kind of also blamed christie by association just look hey i knew her coming in at the play the cards i was dealt it's not not my fault she kinda lost herself like this is just this is why this happened and i loved it it reminds me of a situation on a movie where you know there's a group of the people and their talking a lot of smack about this one of the personnel burden comes as well i've been dating them secretly for three months so what do you have to say about that now nice well well if you think what you guys had to say is bad you should hear what my aunt had to say about her because i'm i'm sure yeah i'm sure my aunt was even she was even go after worse drag her so yeah sure the aunt has some breakup jersey i mean you never wanna go to hard into with the break-up stories because you don't have to break up is gonna take but here in in this instance since i don't know if tommy in christie you're gonna get back together after the season is over melissa yeah and i mean the way that this was put on the show did not make holly look great it made her look pretty bad and pretty mean and she's like i mean i sound download the mean girl right now and like no one says anything like no one says no you're not being it was just like tom he's kind of like it's okay i understand but it just did did not look good for holly i feel like today's at it wasn't great for her i mean this whole time she was kind of able to remove herself from this like bullying mentality or whatever whatever like this mean girl mentality and because she was always able to say like well i didn't have any part of it and it was it was in my heart and like i just felt like i had to go along with it for the game the christie's out of the house this is a game at all it's just like the smack jog somebody this is a great point about holly and i really feel like we've all been going back and forth of what's going to be the best move for nicole and forklift going into thursday and i have to say i think i feel more adamant than ever especially when we're talking about tommy versus holly holly has started to become so unimpressive puja off i almost i feel like i don't even see a scenario where holly ken win why would cliff and nicole wants to get rid of her yet yeah it's talking to parallel to nicole going from poppy not winning anything to now being the front runner is that holly coming into the week was kind of everyone's like like chalk okay if she makes it there she's got everyone beat she might have to work a little bit against jackson but she's got this going where why are they being picked off right now why holly being looked at right right now it just comes down to the fact that holly and mickey are jackson as we call them or a pair dr jackson yeah yeah that was so great by the way i didn't think of it we'll do all the comics and a little bit just basically basically comes down to the fact that they got rid of a pair it was a three way standoff of three pairs and now this is another pair and now there's an opportunity in front of them to maybe take take that one down we've all talked about at length of how impressive jackson's run has been since the blow up of forty four and here we are now and he could run on it to the end and this is something they see as handicapping jackson it boils under that yeah have you weighed in on on what you think cliff and nicole should do know because i got on the update the day before all this went down so my viewpoint from the get-go was it's a two out of four with the pair of nicole and cliff and then you've got a singular tommy a singular mickey if you're why don't you mickey out of nowhere jackson accepted yeah it's happened finally watermelon seed planted in your head i wish it was seedless those are better however yes so if you take holly out here these to see each other as biggest threat to win at the end they fully believe it at least that's how i'm taking it so my belief was coming down if they get to the final four these two are going to go after each other they're going to want to target each other even though cliff and nicole are sitting there as a pair why because even if we've just seen nicole when two competitions out of the last four in the last six days that's impressive we've seen cliff come out of nowhere when competitions when no one bought it was possible he's had his moments but jackson's run is unparalleled his competition wins have been ridiculously insane outside of here he's pretty much want everything that he's been really good on the flipside tommy has not not been a slouch in these cops he's coming second in a lot of even this one right now would-be comics so they go even if they win their have to look at taking each other out so that's where i stand is holly going out is better and i'm not gonna lie i wasn't one hundred percent in because everyone has said this is one of those ones where there's no rude winning pick either works i think as the days have gone on here and just the game we've seen just the conversations we've seen it's getting more and more clear that holly going is the move here okay melissa i'm much more in the tommy should go camp because i think that tommy i can see him winning competitions here down the stretch and could tell me this is crazy could you see tommy winning the final goal three h. o. h. and potentially taking jackson to the final two is that crazy to imagine that i think that it's possible however i mean like i don't know i don't think it's crazy but i think that the odds are he wouldn't because first of all well if he does that i mean he already knows that holly would vote for jackson so that automatic probably receive oh automatic jackson votes and then that would cancel out his chris evokes his christie does like the one like yes christie is gonna vote for me so then renders christie vote kind of move and then you know i i just think that he i don't think he would take jackson just because i think that he jackson are automatically has some votes associated with him uh-huh whereas nicole and cliff it's up in the air we don't know who's gonna vote for nicole and clip tommy as the argument first of all against clip that like i've been working this whole time i was in these all these alliances blah blah blah and i'm the last man standing from the alliance nicole and clifton do anything the whole game yeah sure they like you know they could say that obviously i disagree i think cliff i've

Key to treating epilepsy is talking about it and community engagement: WHO
"This is my well as you're news. Epilepsy affect some fifty million people around the world and eight intent of these live in low to middle income countries. The World Health Organization said on Thursday in interview with you News's Samuel moon guy. WHO's Dr Taryn Dur explains how to help sufferers and what the strategies are that are being put in place to reduce stigma faced by those with the condition. So one of the reason for the high stigma associated with epilepsy is because of the presentation, you had those recurrent body movements. And sometimes, you don't know what are they happen in your afraid about it because it seems you don't have control of your body. And that's why people think that it may be a form of, for example, due to a devil, or things like that. And that because these are unpredictable it when are they going to happen? And so people are afraid that this would mean that you would not like to be interacting, or working closely. It's people like that. And that's the reason for plastic method PC so emergent before there was an what to do during. Ability seizure. What shouldn't you do? So a few things that you should not be doing that to get stressed about it between stop by itself. So I think that's a very important message the other things that are in terms of, don't do his put anything in the mouth, people feel that you might swallow your tongue and so that is impossible. So don't put on drive to open them out. Don't try to restrain. I think these are some of the important don'ts in case of epilepsy. When someone has a heart attack an appeal of see both of them involve convulsive seizures. How could you tell the difference between a heart attack and seizure? This would mean that you would need to do some special tests to understand what is the cause of the person is having these abnormal movement. A good clinical history that is the most important to understand because if you have hard tax, you don't only have abnormal movement, you have other symptoms. For example, you would have been you would have sweating and some of these things that are not seen in a person with epilepsy. Then you would need some these diagnostic tests, less for example, in. Case of heart attack, you would need to electrocardiogram in epilepsy, you would need to do electrons flow Graham, so it is diagnostic investigations can also help you. So how big is this problem epilepsy? So epilepsy is a rain disease common across the world, it affects around fifty million people worldwide and if I look into the numbers, exactly between one in one hundred or one in two hundred people across the world will have epilepsy at any given time. So these are substantially high numbers, it affects people, both sexes all ages. But more common in children and older adults. So what are some of the strategies both in the community legislative wise and into workplace that are being taken to make more awareness of decision. So the most important is having an awareness and advocacy campaign to reduce the stigma around epilepsy. It is important that people with epilepsy should talk about it. I think that's extremely important. What we need protective legislations and policies. For example, people should be allowed to marry. People should be allowed to drive there should not be discriminatory. Employments children with epilepsy, should be allowed to go to schools. So these are very important legislative policy community based intervention strategies that can be undertaken to decrease the stigma and discrimination associated with epilepsy. What it requires is also working together with civil society organizations people with epilepsy and their families because they are the ones to tell you about it that this is a condition, not to be afraid on, this is a condition which requires social inclusion.
Franco-German divisions laid bare in Brexit talks
"To delay. Brexit from six months overriding the objections of French president Emmanuel Macron and setting a Halloween deadline for Britain to leave the block lettering. Con talks to Alex Barker and Gotcha Zan about the considerations informed. The discussions. Onyx? It's the often after very long Brexit summit. We left the building around four o'clock in the morning. We had a result. What was it? So it was Otto thirty first Halloween is the new day for Brexit. It was a difficult discussion. The second time that you leaders of come together in the last month to extend Britain's membership in the union and its controversial because there were very clear differences of you typically between France and Germany over the merits of Britain staying within the union, and it became very clear through the course of the night way. You had the French president Emmanuel Macron taking a very tough approach initially, especially making clear that he wanted a short extension in may or June to keep pressure on the UK to force a decision about this to avoid the UK taking part in European elections next month. For parliament. They want to leave. And at the other end, the majority of you leaders who wanted something that was longer that would take Brexit of their agenda for up to a year and Angola Merckel was one of the strong advocates of that approach in that group as a summit seemed to go on we had to raise may coming doing her dress. But there's only one leader that was the focus of events. And that was mR Macron became out telling us that he was happy with the best possible compromise. And remarkable also came out and said that she was very happy with the result guy. What was the role of the charter in getting Macron into medium extension territory, the, but he's happy with and she was happy with what was have influence over him. I think she had a kind of moderating influence over Macron. I think you had essentially French president with a very tough hard line approach is is is described and you have the other. The camp that wanted to sort of extend it much further out to possibly as far as April next year. And I think Michael was trying to edge towards a compromise that was satisfied both camps. And I think it was very important that she talked about the e use historic responsibility. This is an abiding feature of the kind of rhetoric that Merckel uses on Brexit. She believes that people in twenty to thirty years time. We'll look back and judge the EU on how it handled Brexit, especially the whole concept of a no deal Brexit. She thinks that history will judge the European Union extremely harshly. If it allows written to crash out without a deal. So I think that is her overriding priority in these negotiations to ensure an orderly Brexit one that doesn't damage the version Konami also doesn't damage the European the German economy. So we're left with this Halloween date and. Effectively splitting the difference between the two council were ended up equidistant, but October thirty first the beginning of November is also quite an important moment in the political cycle. Alex. Why does it matter in a year of quite big upheaval that we're in October toiletry rather than say December? What does it mean in the us life cycle post-election world? It's a big transitional year for the EU all of institutions will have a new president appointed in the coming year. And November is a time when the European Commission leadership will change and Brown's had worried that Britain's continuation as a Member State would start kind of pollute the normal day-to-day business of the EU, and it retains all the rights and powers of membership yet wants to leave this union and November's the point where it would have been potentially nominating. A European Commissioner. From the UK and would be taking decisions about shaping the club in the future. Even when Britain still intended to leave. And so this provides a bit of security about those concerns by limiting the kind of influence of the UK would be able to have their will other commitments given. But it's quite hard to do it legally because alternately all the voicing powers Britain has would still be there. I'm gonna Mirka when she walked into the room. We saw laughing and joking one diplomat described demeanor as quite relaxed on the other hand you had Mr. Macron for whom the stakes were very high. He walked into the room telling us that unit his project, the sorts of of the was a stake in the end we managed to come somewhere in the middle. But was this a seminal summit for the Franco-German relationship were talking to someone an expert on the think tank in Berlin softening who made a very interesting point, which is the really in a way the difference that we have between France and Germany on this issue of delaying. Brexit is actually indicative of much bigger split between Germany, and France, which is their attitude to reform the EU, I mean Micron essentially has this idea that Brexit is a big distraction from as you put it the European renaissance, and the sooner we get rid of this destruction the better so that we can get on with the task. Of reforming overhauling the EU. Now Merckel is very very cautious. We know that. But she's quite conservative. When it comes to big rolls of the dice, reforming the EU. So actually for her this issue of Brexit being a distraction is actually less relevant because overhauling the EU is also less of a priority for her on. It's actually becoming increasingly difficult to persuade Taryn party the Christian Democrats of the wisdom of doing these bold reforms. So in a way, she is much more supportive of these sort of incremental steps and also in a way, she's trying desperately to ensure that there are no big cataclysms that will hurt the EU and could actually lead to the disintegration of the EU. That's her main concern is keeping the EU together. And I think she feels that Brexit is potentially such a destabilizing thing that needs to be managed incredibly well in order to keep. P- a you cohesion to maintain aid. You you should not sexually top priority. Alex. He's been in Brussels long enough to know that the Franco-German relationship has been through a few ups and downs. How would you judge where we are right now given that yesterday or last night very apparent the mR Macron was pretty isolated an even though Michael bottom around. He seemed to have backed himself into a bit of a corner is that an ominous sign for how these two partners go ahead and future. I mean, the French president had a bit of support in the room. But clearly he was in a minority, and it's very rare to see such clear differences in public while public as a summit gets voiced clearly in such a sustained manner over something that's as important as this issue, the French and Germans tend to keep their differences private or try to always huge divergences in outlook of many big policy areas. But. It's more and more creeping into the public realm. They're more comfortable about speaking in opposition to each other and use that to some extent last night, some of it was tactical considerations. Should they go short and keep the pressure on the UK to make the labor party feel that there was a no deal imminent that it was time to really compromise. Or should they go long take it off, the EU agenda give the UK time and possibly make all the Brexit. Who think a no deal is a good thing. Think that the whole Brexit may be lost in it's time to compromise and do a deal. So that was a legitimate question there, but underlying the differences between the French and gyms was more fundamental difference in outlook about the European interest over Brexit in mccombs view. It is in the European interest for this to end as soon as possible and potentially for Europe to continue without the UK. In the view of Berlin. It would be better for this to resolve itself in his consensual away as possible and ideally probably for the Brits to stay in. That was the fundamental difference in outlook, the orientated both leaders last night and actually caused all the trouble in the room. No leaders last night ruled out another extension pasta. But which means we could be back having this clash of philosophies again. And it'll be interesting to see whether if we're back in Newton, Macron's vision might win over the longer ones. But. We'll have to wait and see very much guys.
Breast Cancer, ACP And Dr Taryn Rula discussed on KNX Afternoon News with Mike Simpson and Chris Sedens
"Nearly two hundred seventy thousand American women are expected to be diagnosed with breast cancer this year. This comes amid debate and conflicting recommendation. For mammograms sixty five percent of women forty and over have had a screening in the past two years. And now there are new guidelines for some women CBS, Dr Taryn Rula has more. The ACP says evidence shows annual mammographies can lead to more harm such as anxiety over false, positives and unnecessary testing. And that annual mammograms versus biennial show. No significant difference in breast cancer death rate. The new guidance is meant to provide clarity to existing and sometimes conflicting screening recommendations. The ACP also said Dr should not use clinical breast exams to screen for breast cancer. The American college of physicians recommends the majority of women getting mammogram every other year beginning at age fifty and younger women should speak to their doctors about the

Kamala Harris's presidential campaign kicks off with a rally in Oakland
"Rolled out her campaign for the democratic presidential nominee in two thousand twenty for more KCBS and chronicle in center field matere and former San Francisco mayor Willie Brown stopped by the chat with our STAN Bunger and Susan Lee Taylor about this. Kamala Harris has an official launch this Sunday in Oakland. Why go to the trouble of doing that what's important about an official role out in Oakland? She is I think trying to make sure she identifies with the place of or. For her career. That's where she was born ways and started a DA career on that side of the bay. And it's a good thing after all she's had an incredible week. You would think that it was George Clooney making his announcement petty running everybody of screener lack of superstar and go into Oakland. I just hope there's a crowd. Yeah. Because that's going to be the first judge. I mean, they picked Oakland in part because she was she was born there. She didn't grow up there. She grew up in Berkeley, which is next door. And then she went to Montreal. And then she was a DA there. But they picked it in part because it fits in with the narrative, it's not same. But but but also it was where Barack Obama held his big rally in California. Now, the question is can she match that because everybody's going to say, okay? If you built book a room, and you book, applause, it you gotta fill it. And the question is whether the buzz is gonna fill it or whether they got the operation just don't recall, Barack Obama's before you even got his wheels rolling in his campaign facing trouble from the left the way Harris is on this issue of is she sufficiently liberal as a prosecutor. Well, a and that will unfold itself as things go on because after all she not gonna get elected just by being on the left. Bonnie Sanders has proven that not work. And therefore, she must be what she is. And believe me, the rollout is not phony at all. At is. Yeah. It is true notice in the whole roll out. You're not mentioned anywhere said not phony. You're not in the book you were. Her rise. You you put her on commissions, you dated her when she was a DA. I mean, mayor Brown. Until she got better days. A lot of people in the league. I better taste though. She didn't indict, you know. No, no. But she did threaten me once said you tell him jaywalking is a capital offense in my DO sticks. Well, so she wants tough on crime. So from the left running in order for her to get through the democratic primary process. She has got to appeal to the lettuce. Tight rope on that. She is her team is trying to position her through social media as the progressive prosecutor. And what they're trying to do is say yes to those people you're talking about while still throwing the word prosecutor in there for the middle of the road voters saying top would in fact, you know, there's a back and forth on that. She's got an incredible talent to grab a phrase and make it work. I could not have conceived of combo Harris for the people that's how she always had to announcer itself as the DA in any case, the Willie Brown film, Macaire stand Banga for the people. It is such a great phrase. It's as good as make America. Great again. It'd be interesting to see which one they pick. But it's going to be. It's the rollout. I think the biggest thing she's got going for her right now is that Joe Biden and the others aren't in the race. Is it you're still out there with the preliminary people, so you get a buzz, but buzz is not boats. Would have been the Taryn
"taryn" Discussed on Rob Has a Podcast
"We'll say all right. Jonathan Bennett Taryn that was your first pick in the draft Jonathan I thought how solid night other than potentially going to be up on the block when he loses a competition to lock day. He had the best tonight of any of them until the final thirty second. When turned out to be potentially the worst night of all of them. So you know, fortunes rise in fortunes fall. But I thought he did pretty well apart from the twists. Yes, melissa. Do. You agree that Jonathan did everything right up until he did the wrong thing happened to him. Yeah. I mean, I feel like he was he wasn't as over the top as I thought he was going to be in the house. I mean, it's possible. They weren't showing us a lot of his stuff in the house. But I was very nervous. He was going to get in there. And just be so out there that people are going to get turned off. But it seemed like people seem. I really like him. I mean, he was picked first for the competition. So that's gotta means something if you go by elementary gym class, and you know, I just felt like he I loved his reactions in the beginning. When various celebrities were coming in like when the mood came in. Oh, my. Yeah. The whitest is I've ever seen. I really liked that. Because you know, I always thought that in the like backstage when they're waiting to be called on that they were kind of mixing and mingling with each other like or at least could see other like, oh, hey, you're here, you're here. Okay. Cool now, we're about Talgo on. But it kind of gives me the impression. I mean, it's possible that it's just totally fake. But it gave me the impression it's possible that they're handled by handlers separately. And then they bring them in wanted a time. So that really is the first time that they see each other on that stage. Turn what do you think you think that that is how it works? I think so I mean, there's no reason to not do it that way this if they want like big reactions, which I'm sure they did. So I don't see any reason to to doubt that also Jonathan had the sickest burn on the OJ and Kato kaylin of the night tonight. I thought they don't fail in is going to be a tough one to keep survive. "It just came through me, and I kept tuning into the gut sense and my instincts about what to do next and the timing of them all and that's really what led me here. And how would you describe the class because it's pretty unique. And it's a prising in that it's called the class. And there's you know before you go into the class, you're like, okay. This is going to be like, really, woo, wound spiritual. And there's an element of that. Which is really powerful. Like I've cried during the class. But it's also like, wait. I'm doing jumping jacks. Like, yeah. That's the last thing. I would expect from what I know about Taryn to me. And how cathartic this experience could be it's crazy that jumping jacks can do that for you. How what led you to integrating? Yes. Such simple calisthenics into the class. And how'd you describe? The experience of being there will the class. It's it's a music driven self study through physical conditioning. That's that's a long sentence. Yes. It's all music based and were using the were intentionally creating discomfort in the physical body to see where the mine goes to study yourself to get to know yourself. The reason why the movements are what they are is because we don't in the whole design and the teacher training of the class. We don't speak about things like spirit or soul until you have gained the trust of the room by using music by using the cues, you can do it or don't you can't do this wrong. You're welcome to leave. You can lay down you give people permission to do. Whatever they want using those places. They do it. All like, okay. I'm not being told through something. There's no approaches is yelling anything anyone that feels comfortable the movements are done. Because when I mean, I loved humping jacks of love purpose. I like long bridges like working, my dominoes. I like push ups. I like all of these things. So the way that we do is we work one most per song we start from Seoul's effete work the way up the body only after you've gained the trust. The room in the mirrors are fogged over and you've engaged fire deep fire in the physical body. That's when the teachers able to offer out things like that is your brain is in Oregon. This is your physical body, and you have a spirit that has chosen this body, and your spirit embodied feel it and only then you bring it up..
Sir Philip Green: Non-disclosure agreements explained
"This week's main good news was dominated by nondisclosure agreements on Wednesday, the Daily Telegraph splash, a permanent businessman had spent half a million pounds on an injunction to stop the paper putting allegations of sexual harassment and bullying the rooms of who this was exploded on Thursday when Peter Hain use parliamentary privilege in house of lows to feel that it was syphilis. Green the retail top. Shop Mogo d do the right thing and do nondisclosure agreements. Need for forming Saran degree let's begin with specifics of this case the Daily Telegraph being conducted an eight month investigation into cer-, Philip green. It's spoken to lots of people would put forward allegations about his behavior. Green denies all these allegations, we should state, and they wanting to publish this nece, some points activators legal team spent five hundred thousand pounds on high powered lawyers and gotten in junction, the junction was not about the Dita's the story, but it was about the nondisclosure agreements signed between the people putting allegations and the retail mogul himself. So what happened next? So having had an extraordinary from page of the telegraph this week with the blackout shape saying we've been prevented from naming the senior business man who's been accused of these inappropriate workplace behaviors you then had what became a bit of a sort of game of parliamentary. There as to who was going to use parliamentary privilege, which is where MP's amperes or allowed without redress to say things in parliament without being sued, for example, and that will room even Wednesday around PM queues at an MP was going to name the individual concern that didn't happen. But then yesterday in a moment of kind of high drama in the house of lords Peter Hain, the former labor minister decided to name Philip green as individuals of the telegraph had been trying to go after and the individual who had spent all this money on what was popularly seen as gagging. Clause to gag the press and also to gag the complaints against him. It's way more complicated than that. However, two out of the five complainants actually supported the injunction, and there's been a major backlash since Peter Hain took this action against his decision to do. So because parliament privilege where you're actively say all legal system has got this wrong. And so is opponent Taryn decided to speak out about it and overrule the courts is very very very rarely used and should only be used an extremist, and there's been a serious amount of criticism even from other former home secretaries against Petain from his own side. And there is historical precedent for this which was doing the host Sufen junction era. John hemming who is a liberal Democrat MP used parliamentary privilege in the house of Commons to name Ryan Giggs football for having a super junction again about details of his private life. And when it happened, then when it happened with Lord in this week this respective speakers of those houses will very unhappy about because parliament privileged should only be used in those extreme circumstances. And it will be interesting to see whether this injunction is still how because they were now in this ought situation where everyone is reporting about the green, but the details of the allegations sto cannot republished because the injunction is those standing in the Telegraph's co. On so Philip to drop the injunction, but still no sign of that at the moment. That's also what's weird about Peter Hanes decision to use paunchy privileged to name Philip green. Which is that the actually the legal had not yet been exhausted. I think that's a really crucial point to remember. So yes, indeed. The telegraph is still sort of stuck in a slight publishing limbo about the details of the story. And meanwhile, whistled of all plunged into this quite interesting debate about the role of NDA's in commercial life. Whether they're actually being abused not to

"Yeah i'm pressed with how boring is taryn that's another way to put like his pain the boring game but it is the long game sometimes if he makes it past the double vic shin coming up i really feel like he's going to have a lot of pool in a house given the fact that he sort of a free agent right now the cayman baddie people that were really not seeing that much off through sometimes you've got to be a sleeping giant brent exactly you know play you all awake at just the the whole entire time we've seen some sleeping giants that failed madam site to sleep halfway through the season but they forgot to wake up and then they ended up just getting voted get an invicta and you know and they were kinda like just like a footnote into season so i hope he doesn't become that you have to you have to do it smart like a lot of people they think oh that's the game right you can just sleep in you have to do anything that's like got gotta be collected information and setting yourself up building relationships you can't just chill and do nothing at all for for every strategic sleeper like godfrey christine from big brother canada four who i bet nobody even remembers i don't know if i was gonna say won't say thinking about almost guides but somebody who also was low key and had potential and eventually went home and we're like oh.

"If you are a single on valentine's day and you are not happy about that fact then you're not going to have a very fun time probably speak directly to me taryn railroad a thanksgiving especially thanksgiving is even more about family i think than than even christmas look if you don't have a family or you don't have a good relationship with your family i i think especially if you don't have a good relationship with your family because then like like why why are you going to thanksgiving wh why why are you shunning your family you terrible horrible monster like why why are you why aren't you le loving them unconditionally seeing all of these social media post about people anxious about how it like managed by racist oncle older selfies is made me very thankful that we the thanked him he's not a thing of air so yeah that's one thing but i'm glad icon relates it well what about charles dickens day isn't that basically the same thing are there any holidays that you that you feel strongly towards positively mom come to my them each gave me time i could think of reasons why might i could be convinced to like them but now i mean is that holidays if you can enjoy them great but i think is kind of thing which if you have to be prompted then there's already in issues like if if you can enjoy that sincerely and without any motivation thus thus that's the whole point and if you had like put on this character to enjoy a holiday then this what what are you ready getting out of an ultimately yeah i'm gonna ham on that i i level out of the lake purely religious ones like i love passover which is a hot take casado cheese at billy don't like passover because that's the week where we can't eat bread or pasta or anything that taste good and by i really like it because you just gonna leave just like gather around the table have a big neil and just like tell the story of passover and it's like mary communal an everybody takes turns reading and stuff like that so i like ones like those because it's just like kind of like you do one thing well this unites pass over you do two things in then use.
