I can always tell when football season's clothes because my my email and twitter people get nastier and meaner and angrier. Why because we love football more than other sports so everybody gets crazy and unglued so the to the quarterback in the league. I've been very critical office. Too of miami. Oh i can't believe it. Your own team tried to trade furnish shawn watson. Your own team in miami has questions about two we talking about uh uh for the second. One is the raiders. And i've said this. I would never give john gruden's personality a ten year contract. There's a lot of businesses. You can be out of for ten years post office. We're to grocery store not nfl coach or silicon valley. And i have. I have felt from day one. I still don't know. What the raiders are. I don't know what they are three years into this rebuild. What are they. They're not good defensively. They don't have a pass rush. That just lost three starters in the offensive line. what are they. Well here's an example. Because i've said when you give somebody that's highly emotional and that's gruden ultimate power. Jim harbaugh's a little bit of this. Is that if you surround them would too many yes men. "I still don't know. What the raiders are. I don't know what they are three years into this rebuild. What are they. They're not good defensively. They don't have a pass rush. Just lost three starters on the offensive line. What are they well. Here's an example. 'cause i've said when you give somebody that's highly emotional and that's gruden ultimate power. Jim harbaugh's a little bit of this. Is that if you surround them with too many yes men. They become their own worst enemies. Well here's a story today. Joy taylor has it on players. They just cut so they just waved. Twenty twenty third round. Pick tanner muse. Who was a linebacker from clemson. Never played a snap for the raiders because he missed the entire last season with a toe injury. So this is the second of their third round. Picks from two thousand twenty. They have moved on from the raiders before ever playing a regular season snap for the team and add insult injury. Today tantrum uses birthday so now he'll probably picked up by somebody. Third round picks usually get way they get picked up by somebody so they move they had muse and lynn bowden junior who was trained to the dolphins prior to the twenty twenty season. So he the other one that they've already moved on from brian. Edwards was the other third round pick who's projected the start at wide receiver. But yeah they're they're drafting has been a lot of mrs. Yes allah and the thing that always jumps out to me. When i when. I see a team get taken over. Do they have. Is there a plan. This is always been my thing. I never judge coach on their first year. But i got to see a plan. And i knew when i didn't buy into the raiders plan when they talked about we gotta get high character guys in the draft so they overdrafted players who are nice guys and then they started sound like antonio brown richie incognito who can play. You wouldn't classify them as high character guys. I'm not saying they can't play. And there's a space for both those guys in the nfl. I i got no problem with richie planner antonio plan. But you can't tell me your plan is high character. I think baez perfect got brought into. It's like timeout. Three of the guys that you would not define his high character. So what's your plan in. What's happening with the raiders. John emotional an emotional people. Wake up. everyday's you got a new plan. You got a new idea. You got your hot and cold on personnel. I have never liked coaches having a big say in personnel coaches coach. Gm's gm owners own quarterback quarterback john. Now i think in harbaugh had this at michigan you simply gave a highly emotional player person way too much power and they become their own. Worst enemy will he. He has power yes say but he also has a long runway. He has lots of time all the time in the world the most ever because he has that contract so you can't move on from him so if they don't these draft picks don't perform if they don't take a big step up then it's going to be mayock who's moved on from not jon gruden so i have the raiders. Teams are jets. I feel strongly about texans.

"Podcast throughout the week. But if you haven't make sure you check it out right after this today. I'm going to give you guys some injury. Updates recap in the biggest news. Stories of the week and sprinkling in a little preview of sunday's game against the san francisco forty niners with that. Let's get to. It will start things off with a few injury news and unfortunately there's not a lot of good news report as a handful of guys went down and very few returned. I mentioned this last week. But richie incognito suffered a leg injury and the final joint practice against the rams other than knowing. It's a cash rain. We still don't know the severity of the injury. But the athletics. Sean reid reported that incognito missed all week. The veteran likely wouldn't be playing this sunday even if he was healthy. So it's not terribly concerned at the moment but incognito calf is certainly something to keep an eye on as we inch closer to the regular season during his press conference after the game in la head. Coach jon gruden so the team hosts the guards ready to go week. One against the ravens quarterback qissan nixon exit the game against the rams early and was held out of practice this week. There haven't been many updates on knee injury so we don't know many specifics about the injury including the severity of it. I'd imagine nixon is comfortably on the right side of the roster bubble as a key contributor on special teams and should factor into the cornerback rotation this season so i don't think he necessarily needs to play on sunday. If the three year veteran is held held out of the game look for isaiah. Johnson who recently returned from an entry david ornette and or amick roberson to step up and take advantage the extra reps. I mentioned last week that it was a rough one for the raiders linebackers. And unfortunately this week. It didn't get any better nik. Witkowski missed practice again this week and there have been little to no updates on his. What's bothering him. In fact discussing the injury sue as linebackers during a press conference this week gruden even said that he's not going to give out any injury updates until he absolutely has to. The good news is the coach. Did seem somewhat confident. That could cousy will. Back in time for the monday night season-opener similar incognito nick moral also went down and practice in los angeles. The people in attendance made it seem like morals injury serious and gruden while still not giving complete info reinforced with everyone was saying the coach said that moral will be out for quote unquote. Awhile and there's injury was more serious than fell linebacker. Jason whites grew. Did say that white will also be out for a while. But to be honest this might be the best of a worst case scenario for white for those missed it the. Unlv product injured his knee against the rams and it looked like he was in a lot of pain as he got carted off the field. Personally i was worried that he tours. Aco but the raiders didn't put him on injured reserve. So that's a good sign. That white should return to the field. Soon in the meantime look for Linebackers tanner muse defined diablo. Max richardson to take advantage of the extra apps. Running back jalen rashard sill out and definitely with a foot injury so obviously he missed practice all week. Defensive and cleveland barrel and guard denzel. Good didn't practice this week though. No information was shared about their injuries. If an update comes on either of those two we to let you guys know about it moving onto the news of the week we'll start things off with a few roster transactions to get down to eighty players the raiders punter corless weightman park guard. Parker anger cornerback russell. Douglas wide receiver marcel. Eightman linebacker daringly and defensive. Tackle darius stills weightman anger come as no surprise since las vegas already has a good punter in aj cool and have plenty of depth on the interior of the offensive line. Douglas was a bit of a surprise since he's a veteran. Cornerback in the silver and black or rather inexperienced at the position but as he missed a few tackles during the game. The athletics victoria for tweeted. That douglas has been having a rough camp. Also it's been a few years since the five year pro has been very good though he did get picked up by the houston texans already after putting together. A nice performance in la was a bit of a shocker. To see eight and get let go granted. His game against the seahawks wasn't pretty. And i even said that i think is days later renumbered but the organization was probably doing a favor by cutting him sooner rather than later as eight minutes entering its fourth season in the nfl and was a long shot to make the final roster now he gets a chance to explore the open market a little bit early and potentially see if things work out somewhere else as for lee he was one of the many injured linebackers on the rosser. And we'll be reaching an injury settlement with the organization to be honest. I think this will likely mark the end of his career. And if it doesn't. I be surprised if he sticks around in the league. Much longer stills with another injured player who got the axe this week and this one is probably the most disappointing of the bunch a lot of people including myself thought he was a steel as an undrafted free agent signing but unfortunately he couldn't say healthy and i think we all know how much patience jon gruden has for. That still did clear waivers and was placed on the injured reserve so his tenure with the raiders on hold but far from over. Las vegas did make a few of the roster this week as well the i was resigning undrafted free agent dairy hamilton on tuesday. Hamilton started training camp in vegas on the non football illness list before getting released on august. Six but the raiders are in desperate need of a fourth tackle so the do product has a second life a decent chance at landing spot on the final roster or practice squad not a bad situation seeing as he didn't have an nfl home the last couple of weeks. Finally the team traded with the carolina panthers for linebacker denzel perryman in corresponding move cut to kuni. Who was only in the building for about a week. Th- raiders gave up six round pick and got back seventh in addition to payment from the panthers. That's an excellent trae for the silver and black who are in desperate need for his linebacker and only needed to swap a couple eight round picks and make it happen. Pyramid does have a long history history of zone. But las vegas needed somebody for the short term in the former. Charger has some familiarity with gus. Bradley system having played under him for the past. Four seasons and other non-roster related news legendary raiders wide receiver cliff. France was named to the pro football hall of fame. Senior committee nominee. That means the committee will vote on branches hall of fame candidacy next february. And if he gets at least eighty percent of their votes he's in being named the senior committee. Nominee also means branch will not be going against any other competition and traditionally the senior committee nominee gets voted in. And that's how. Ken stabler was elected back in two thousand sixteen..

"You're the linebackers coach rate there you gotta be fired up. That's exactly what you're teaching and that's teach tape material right there. Hell if you're the dvd's coach you might be seeing if you can get him in a lower number and seeing what he can do at strong safety at this point you know. Obviously i think that's going to be a little bit similar to what his role will be on the team if he ends up playing a lot more kind of that hybrid linebacker safety type because that's what he was in college. He actually covered the slot quite a bit in college. So i think we're starting to see those traits start transfer over in the nfl. What unfortunately his injury left a really sad note on the game for him you know when he was down on the ground it looked like he was quite a bit of pain. He ended up having to get carried off the field and then and it was on the car going back to the locker room with a towel over his head looked like he was in tears. So i genuinely hope he's. He's okay for several reasons and it was just more the scare in the moment that was going on and not a serious injury. Because i do think he would have been able to contribute or he will be able to contribute for the raiders. This year. if i'd say healthy so i mean hopefully we'll get some good news in the next coming days that it's not serious and it was you know he'll be back soon but definitely definitely a damper on the mood for what was excellent game for jason white. The other linebacker. I wanna talk about. It's going to be tanner muse. Now i wrote an article about him is up on silver and black pride and he's an interesting case because you know being a college safety you think he would be good coverage at the linebacker in that would of be the most natural position for them but on saturday it looked like he was struggling to cover some of those drag routes right in similar to what i was talking about with white is. It seemed to happen a lot on play action. Where maybe he's overplaying the run a little bit. Maybe kinda overcompensate from system in college where he was a pass first player and now he's just being a little bit too aggressive so it'll be interesting to see how he kinda continues dynamic target with marcus. He wasn't as high on musing coverage. But i have been really impressed with what i've seen some run or at least the growth that shown against the run and i think he's been way better about using his hands. He looks bigger. You know i was watching one a press conference the other day and he a lot thicker than he was in college any stronger at the point of attack and i think he's doing a better job of getting off blocks. You know still has room for growth but for a guy that this is the first time. His seeing nfl action. You know. i think you have to like what you see from him as run-defender it's just weird that we need to see more for him as in coverage but i do think he might have found a little bit of a niche and i noticed it a lot this game and a little bit in the game before to as blitzer you know he has nice speed to come off and close on the blitz against the seahawks. He came as a free rusher. Got his hands up and got a pb. You at the line of scrimmage and this week. He showed a nice little coffeehouse. Done on a mug from the raiders where he was able to go off and actually finish with sack so i think that can be a decent role for him in on this defense. It's just a matter of how stiffer tip. Hips are and how he can you know. Increase that change direction to help stain phase and coverage and then use those great ball skills that we know he has now moving on to the group as a whole. This is a very very rough. Read for the raiders. linebackers. I mentioned the white injury you know. That's the guy who i think it'd be a contributed for them this year. Quick hausky also went down more went down on the practice with the rams that one apparently looks bad and he's expected to miss some time darren lead went out. This group is getting thin really quickly and it's not that deep to start with. Obviously there have been some rivers about k. J. right potentially joining the team. Well it was at this point they might have to up their offer because things are getting kind of desperate over there and raider land and it is not looking good at that position and it sucks. Because i think they have a lot of talent there but it's not going to do much fell. All of them are injured. Moving onto the raiders. Pass rush which i honestly felt was pretty underwhelming overall especially start. The game at seemed like a lot of guys. Were struggling a win against one on one blocks then they started working in more lying games than even that really wasn't wearing working and i felt like gus bradley kind of to dig into his bag of trips to help get some pressure. Know just with you. Showing that coffeehouse done that ended up working. But i'm not sure that's the look you wanna show at this point because those are best when you can catch them by surprise right the coffeehouse the reason why it works is it's an unusual. Look you know you get the linebacker. They get the offensive line to fall asleep for a second. Lose that linebacker. And then he's able to be a free rusher so that's really not something you can rely on a lot during the game and i don't mean to like speak for gus bradley but i can't imagine that something he really wanted to show at this point this season however.

"Right as promised now everybody. It's the return of the special teams. Were daddy. He has not played a snap in one thousand nine months but he is hungry to give back into action on the field. And that is you. Raiders linebacker tanner muse. Now joins the show. Thanks so much for taking the time to join me here today. I wanted to bring you on first of all just to ask what has been like for you getting in this off season and being back with the team os grade. I'm loving every second of just being able to compete again as i love to do. I'm here and Truly just fell in love with again out there with the guy's been runaround show off what what i didn't get to do last year so i'm just just happier. Never yeah when you have that toe injury at setback. What did you go through in on your own. Just thinking about all the build up for yourself and being ready to join this team and then to have that happen. Yeah it was. It was devastating issue dream. Just go into the process of getting drafted a team taking a chance on you and you're just so excited in something like that happens but I don't question it at questions journey. Just keep on a step by step and just keep looking for the next day just getting better better every single day well the next stages so far looking like you're getting some first team reps. You're working a lot with those guys especially on the outside linebacker position What has that been like for you. Moving up to that level in the expectations that look like are therefore you right now. Yes been going. Great plan low outside linebacker in the base packages so it's heavier personnel again. My hands dirty. I like being around. The line is teaching me. A lot of new tricks. "You must be crazy. Use a d. o. g. And if you was my man. I would have been kicked you out of my house by now. This is what had happened. Thank you for that you know. I was watching the washington playoff game and they were showing that they spent first round. Pick on a defensive lineman for years in a row. Only the second team to ever do that but that was one of the reasons why washington defense is so good. You know young and sweat the other guy and i was just thinking about how bad cleland furloughs and normally. I don't do a poll on twitter. Because it's basically i need attention but i was just curious so i was watching the game and i just threw it out there until the raider nation. I said hey. Would you trade him right now. For a third round pick leland. Feral choices were yes. He's a bust or no he'll improve and so it lasts twenty four hours One hundred and seventy five votes Forty six per se es yes. He's a fifty four percent. Say no hill improve. Now if you're asking me what i would've picked. I would have picked no not so much. He'll improve but no because the raiders have three first round pick last year and they are all basically nothing i. One they've picked was a guy that was traded before camp started to miami. The second one bryan edwards is a guy who's a big tall receiver but had a handful of catches and it's basically the fifth string wide receiver. And the other guys a safety. Linebacker name tanner muse from clemson. Who didn't play the whole year as he was hurt. So what's the big deal about a third round. Pick right now. So if there was a third choice i do for myself would be. He's a bus but hold onto him one more year but anyway an interesting thing almost half and it still. This was an election no hill improve would be the winner but it was close almost half out of one hundred and seventy five people who that my little twitter poll said Trade them right. Now is a bus for third round. Pick all right i. Maybe that'll lighter fighter. Under but armored tittle see tomorrow thanks for tuning in and it'll be nine. Am down Hope we don't have brain damage.

"Strong second year so far he's doing what the raiders. Have for the most part have asked him to do and I think he's going to continue to get better. You're right about VACS crosby I would like to see the tackles up a little bit more. But Hey, if you're going to sack every game, he's he's got four, four, four, three, five games I'll take that. You you you know when that when you when you figure that out. When you play that that's a lot of sacks. If he continues on that on that pace I'd like to see him be a little bit more of a complete Blair but but he took a step he's been taking a step in the right direction I think nick. Wykowski Gets the defense organized. He's he's. Made a big impact. So and that secondary as you said Sam Hey, man, you know they did the best they could against a really tough opponent and a and some really tough match ups and it's banged up. So two weeks off your hope that you know Damon are net can come back and kind of complete that unit but for passing grades for me for the secondary against the cheese. Absolutely. Absolutely especially in the second half and then let's about Molin credit. He's been one of the better defensive backs in the League so far through the first month of the season thought Jonathan Abram on Sunday was physical. He played with an edge he he made he didn't make every play that there was to be made, but he was making place he was flying around he was active on Nevin Lawson. Admirably. It continues to fill an admirably. He was much better on Sunday that he was last week in in that unit I mean, it's. It's one half. Is Is. There's a long season. There's still some good quarterbacks that they're going to have to face some good receivers with us make no doubt about that. We understand that when given everything that we've seen to the first five games of the season to be able to put together a half like that on the road in a hostile environment against that group of show position players in that quarterback best quarterback in the NFL is a massive massive victory. Passionate mahomes finishes twenty to forty-three. In passing barely fifty percent of his passes. That's not what we're accustomed to seeing and the secondary deserves a lot of credit. For making him off his read off a second re getting him out of the pocket coverage. Allowing. Passwords to do its thing and get him on comfortable. So a really a tremendous second half. If they can put together, even seventy five percents that or eighty percent of that as a union moving forward I think. They're going to continue to give themselves gracious to win games against other teams. Yeah. They're not going to be playing Patrick mahomes every why dude I mean just spectacular player when you watch them, there's no as long as he's got an inch of grass to work with. All bets are off the dude can make. With you know looking behind with is behind his back it's just craziness how much pressure he puts on defense but the raiders managed him as well as you possibly can by the way game ball to mic Mac and I'll tell you why Chris Smith and Dante Jones, who, who are you talking about Stones Dante And Dante Jones. We'll tell you about Christmas and Dante Jones. These two players better and players that the raiders quietly signed during training camp with no expectation that they were going to actually make the team. No. That's not why they were around. There is seven spots this year that you are allowed on your practice squad that can be used by fully vested veterans in other words. Typically. There's rules for who can be on a practice squad. You can't just put any old guy on the practice squad. Do you WanNa Patrick Mahomes on the practice squad? Obviously, you wouldn't, but you couldn't because of the years that he has invested in this league now because of Covid, anybody could get put on the practice squad and you know what? For a guy like Dante Jones Christmas there aren't jobs out there necessarily for them in the NFL but. Okay, I'll take twelve thousand dollars a week to be on a little bit of a taxi squad. So if you need me a veteran player that that, you know what you're going to basically get I'm here I'm practicing with you I'm ready to rock and roll. If the be will guess what the raiders needed Christmas Dante Jones to veteran solid players that have been on the practice squad just waiting in case they were needed Mo. Collins goes out. Collins goes out. and. Then obviously, Mojo I with with goes onto the covid nineteen less instead of going out on the street trying to quickly get something together or turn to a practice squad guy that's probably not ready. You know there's a reason why those rookies around the practice squad hello they could turn to Chris Smith and Dante Jones and guess what both of those guys delivered on Sunday in in the pretty extensive time given the injuries that the raiders have been dealing with. Research Kobe Nineteen Christmas tackles, and a sack a big sack by the way so. Mike mayock doing his job making sure that there's some coverage there in case something goes down something went down and they had some solid veterans at twenty. One hundred and it was a total cohesive effort. Those veterans were tremendous. We know this is a young team. We know that this is a inexperienced seem all things considered having those guys understanding look? They're professionals. This is professionals veterans on the progress Wad, but they came in prepared ready to make plays against if a fantastic offense against a great offensive line and a great. quarterback and they made those plays and what they had to do and Again, like we talked about now you have a week you reset reset you could get healthy you can figure out. Okay. What worked what didn't work nature necessary adjustments and then come in with a with Tom off rested recovered ready for a crucial game against him Tom Brady's Tampa Bay buccaneers so. You really can't I mean again. Having this conversation I cannot cannot continue to emphasize higher impressed with the raiders they were eleven and a half point underdogs eleven. They win the game our anybody any. Take the Raiders Mommy today, I can't imagine they did. But if they did, you know that bad boy. Tremendous effort all around offense defense special teams, flag whoever had the guts to do that? Enjoy your money enjoy your stock because you you earned it. You earned it. So anyway, like you said, Sam a couple of weeks off for the bye week. Hopefully guys like Richie, incognito tanner. Muse Damodar are net There's some guys that are that are some really talented players that are on injured reserve right now. Just waiting to get right and this extra week is going to give them some extra time to able to get right. So we'll see where the raiders are physically and that's on top of you know Mullen Mr Tough Guy Dude that's as tougher football players I seen in a long time he got banged up on Sunday on a hit where he just did not show any mercy for who he was hitting or himself for that matter Kinda struggled off the field I thought he was done came back and had a good solid game in his return but. Okay, so just to reset a huge win for the raiders forty, two, thirty, two over the Kansas City chiefs, they had to the bye week three and two they're sitting pretty with with I think they're going to be the second best team in this division that can get them far the easier part of their schedule is coming up, and of course, we're going to be all over it We'll be we'll be back with you next week in spite of the by we don't take a bye week. Do we have? No, we don't take a bike the raiders. So we'll be, we'll be back to talk about it and to set it all up. Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay buccaneers or headed to allegiance stadium the following Sunday night Sunday night football. So that's pretty cool. allegiance stadium will get a a nice a nice showcase in a nice stage at flex. For the rest of the world. So we will talk to you next Monday enjoy the week I know Raider fans are GonNa be..

Also Brian Edwards Hey, is out Sunday with the ankle injury. So there's your two top rookies there. Damon Arnett. He's going to miss up until early November with thumb injury. So another first round pick number 19 this year. Our readers really banged up to say the least. Ah, Richie incognito already out with the Achilles injury. Ah, Rico. Gafford is actually questionable. Maura, that receiving corps. I'm not touching on Nick White House Key. Marcus Mario has been out Tanner Muse. I mean, it's just been AH, list and, of course, losing Tyrell Williams there, number one receiver early on before the season even gets going and then on the offensive line, guys like Sam Young. He's now questionable on Sunday. They got him to have some depth. The next thing you know, he was pressed into the starting job. But now Simpson has stepped in there for incognito. But boy, I'll tell you, it's hard when you when you are just trying to get chemistry with a lot of new faces and lo and behold than you have, you know a bunch of the on new ones, and some of the older ones all depart. You know, within weeks of each other. It's hard for coach Gruden in this stuff, just to understand who the heck is on our roster. That's healthy enough to play right now. Yeah, don't mean coming upon the offensive line to revive the blocking in the and the lanes for for Jacobs to Ah, to run because of the ball control is going to be important for the, uh, the Raiders in order to keep the defense off the field because within thine buffalo, I have some good offensive capabilities this year Assed faras. Josh Allen on the passing game goes, Of course they have. Ah, John Brown banged up a cz. Well, one of the receivers I think the Raiders are gonna have to do what? What teams? That's really what they used to do in the old days when the run set up the past these days in the NFL, the past really sets up the front of the Raiders, and I happen to have an effective running game because they are going to be short handed in the passing game. Of course, I take nothing away from the lost last week at New England. They were in a bad situations you put mentioned you're going up against Are you leave the greatest coach in the history of the NFL and certainly the greatest coach in the NFL of the past two decades? Who takes away what teams liked best. Of course, Lalo was the key for that Emilio Belichick at a plan designed, uh, I I like McDonald's Buffalo coach. He doesn't quite have the experience and very few do have the experience and the capabilities of village so I expect a better effort out of the offence. But that's going to be incumbent on the offense to take time off the clock. So the defense is him out there all game you go. Yeah. McDermott Shell McDermott doing a nice job there for Buffalo. Matt when I throw it Ia's Faras looking at this game, Singletary has been a beast in the backfield. Moss a little bit, banged up the youngster out of Utah having trouble getting going as far as running the ball in less than three or to carry. But the acquisition is Stefan Diggs. That's a nice when you have Colby's like he's a little bit banged up, should be able to go this Sunday. A guy that's very reliable came up with a big reception against the Rams. In that last drive on a I think they need 11 yards on a third down. And they came up maybe even was 1/4 down. They came up with the 12 yards a guy that you can trust to go long enough to move the sticks. John Brown is, as you said, a little bit banged up, but they have Gabriel Davis's well, they've got, you know, Josh down who's playing at a very high level the youngster out of Wyoming, and there was a lot of skepticism when he was taken by Buffalo. A lot of folks did not think that he had the pedigree, even though he was highly touted going into college but coming out of Wyoming, they're saying Well, who's gone against this? A mountain West kid? What's he done? To do what's he doing? He's throwing for 374 yards game. 10 touchdowns, one interceptions. The interception, has been sacked eight times. He's rushed for a couple of touchdowns as well, but when he's getting outside the pocket, he's making things happen with his legs, and he's also thrown very well now on the run, and the Raiders have to try and contain him inside that pocket. Tell you what, man. I'm so happy that Josh Allen is a Buffalo bill and not a Denver Bronco because that's where I had him going in that draft. I really thought that the Broncos should have gone after Josh Allen, mostly because you look at what he did in Wyoming. Wild is one of the couples places in the country to play. As far as the climate is concerned, we all know what it's like up there being in a mountain west down here in Vegas, and you know it can get crazy there in Denver with the way that that mountain climate comes in, I thought with his side, his athleticism that arm of his. He would've been a perfect fit for the Broncos, and I'm glad that they went a different direction and passed on him. Because I think the technical jet man, you just you mentioned all the intangible that he has. He can make every throw on the field, and if it's not there, you can pull it down and run And he's not afraid to do that. And that's the scary thing about this guy is he has the ability and he also has the mentality to just go out and get this done. John Brown not being there this week, which it looks like he's going to be out. You know, we don't want to see guys injured, but we're not upset if we miss another top receiver coming into a legion stadium this season, But men, I mean, I don't think the secondary has been bad at all for the Raiders this year. I think they've done pretty well against the path. They've held up pretty well. You know our net not being there this week for the next two knows how long seven or eight weeks is big. Do we see Mick Robertson this week? Is he going to step up? You know, but it's It's on this defense is weak to contain Alan and slow this team down as much as they can. Um, you know, I like the idea of the ball control and keeping keeping Alan in this offense off the field. But I think the Raiders going to have to start getting bigger chunks more often if they wantto have any sustainability with their offense this season because These these long drives When teams like the Patriots of Belichick start taking away what you do Well, you've got to find another way to chunk plays out..

"Orleans I gave you New England gave you, Casey twice gave you Denver. And gave you Cleveland. So those air games that I think they could. I mean, I took Buffalo. That's a game that could go either way and indie again. Can they sweep the charges? I think they can. I think they're good enough to sweep the Chargers always tough to to sweep the team inside your division. But I gave Casey the sweep. And like I said, Super Bowl hangover, Yeah, but moans is a different animal. But I do think That the Raiders air hungry and I think the chemistry there by the time they played Casey the second time which will be here on November, 22nd. I do think the Raiders will probably have what it takes to beat this Kansas City team. So that's where on that, shorty. Go ahead, man. Tell me eight. Nate, Where do you have the eight losses? Here's where I have the eight losses. Okay, I've got Ah! Really quickly. I definitely think they were in the home opener against New Orleans. But as far as the losses, I think the first loss they have on the season they start out to know I'm going to chalk up a loss to New England in Foxboro. Okay, and then I am going, Teo. Give them a win against Buffalo. So the only loss I have so far week three at New England, Okay? I've got them getting swept by the chief. So that's two losses right there that century losses for the Raiders. I haven't splitting with the Broncos, so that's four losses, right? They're okay. They're actually have them losing to the coal. So that's five losses there. And here's why you made a great point. I think the Colts are much improved team. They are perennial power because I believe New England's dynasty is coming to an end. But the thing with that is reason why I say that Katie is Philip Rivers still know these Raiders inside and out. He plays him twice a year for the last God knows how many years you know, I don't even know how old he is giving them a loss. Okay. And then after that, I've got the loss to Tampa Bay and then Cleveland. I haven't winning that. And I believe the last two losses I have are going to be against the Chargers have been splitting against the Chargers, and then I have them losing to the Broncos in Denver. So those are my losses for the Raiders. Okay, because because here's the thing. I'm just wondering why people think this Coltsoffense is going to be that great. I know Rivers, is there. Look, Moreland Mac decent running back If Jonathan Taylor, who's There there, pick out of Wisconsin. I like him. The jersey kid If he comes on, I think that Yeah, there'll be a little bit more dangerous. I like the pick up of Michael Pittman. Junior. I thought the kid was outstanding. Got to watch him play and and loved in a college. T Y. Hilton is a gamer has got to stay healthy. So had his problems over the last several years, Staying healthy Paris Campbell, he started to pick the game up, so the offensive line is pretty good. Ryan Kelly, now the highest paid center in the game, Anthony Castonzo. He's done it for a long time. Quentin Nelson. I mean, you're talking about Ah, granted offensive line so I can see that offensive line protecting rivers. But I also see the Raiders offensive line, you know, with Hudson and incognito and guys pretty. You know the look and gave gave Jackson Khun Step These guys, we're going to take care of business. Trump Brown is a game are already and I like this team. I just think there's a lot more to the Raiders toe like and when you look at what they've done transaction wise over the last several days when you cut a guy like to Marius Randall, who's got a ton of experience and is versatile enough to play corner and safety, but he was hurt. He was banged up. He only really got one good, solid practice in there. You can't do that with coach Gruden. If he's got a roster of depth, he does not like that. It's not that it's not that he doesn't want to give you a chance. Same thing with Gary and calmly a couple years ago. Look, how can I gauge how good you are? If you're hurt every two days? I can't do that. And so, yeah, it's thoughts. And in this time of The cove it and all this stuff and the virtual meetings and and practices and whatnot. You don't have a lot of time. So to cut guys like a Muka, Maura, principal Tomorrow and Randall that shows me the confidence of Nayak and Gruden with the young kids, And when I look at guys like tray von Mullen, who got a year's experience, Lester and Jonathan Abrams again were betting on Abram. As Faras. On the come. We're thinking that okay, this guy, you know, Okay. Lucky seven. Lucky seven. Lucky boom. No, but he showed that he's got that moxie. He's got that intangible we saw during hard knocks and for the limited time we got to see him. Plus, if you watched him like I did it at Mississippi State, there's no doubt this kid knows the game and he's a hard hitter now. Like you said, you read. Hey, I gotta tone it down a little bit. Can't play every play like it's the last play because in the NFL, if you do that, you're not going to be around for the whole season. You've gotta kind of pace yourself. And I think Abrams good enough. But when you look at the other guys they picked up you grabbed Jeff Heath, who could step into a starting role now as strong safety Eric Harris had a great year last year. Looking forward to him. You've got Isaiah Johnson and Marjorie Harper. Look, I don't know a ton about these guys. But I do know that there's other guys still around from last year, like LaMarcus Joyner, who You know, with an IQ Robertson coming in from Louisiana Tech. I think that's solid right there and then the linebacking corps and you mentioned little tennis. Quiet. Toschi, Nicholas Morrow stepped up Nice last year. They also grab Raekwon McMillan into trade from the Dolphins last week. I think this guy's got potential Tanner muse. They're high on him the youngster out of Clemson, Damon or net. Yes, we question Who the hell's Damon Arnett? Sure. I knew who he was because I watch Ohio State and you know, but everybody knew Cuda was the main guy was to shutdown corner there. But this guy has turned heads in practice that they're thinking this kid may be able to step in and start sure they're going to make mistakes, but I think the depth that they have You couple that with the defensive line with Cleveland Pharaoh getting help now from Carl, Nassib and NASA is going to push him and they're both going to play. I talked about the leak. Collins coming over from Dallas, Marinelli solid coach guys saying, Hey, we're Marinelli is that we want to go. Max Crosby, give me anything like you had last year play with the same motorcade looking forward to that Mo Hurst. Love his heart. Ah, heart. They thought that was damaged. Sent him home from the combine Two years ago. Jonathan Hankins Still there. Death wise, Ardent Ki. What do you got? Ellis? You kid. You got to show it this year. If you want to play for this team, you got to show it. This is your three. You got to come through with flying colors. Oh, and I almost forgot about Colton Miller. The left tackle out of the way when we all said what we do and grabbing this 69 kid or whatever. At a youth is kids play left tackle. He stepped in. He's done an outstanding job. So now guys like Zeta Jones, Nelson Agler thes guys have NFL experience they need now with William's going down to step up. Guys like rugs and third Brian Edwards out of South Carolina. They're going to get their shot. Hunter Renfroe has already proved to me that this guy's durable, He's got solid speed. He's a possession receiver like the old Steve Largent, but he's got better Steve speed than large and there's a couple other guys. Enrico Gafford, killing Dawes That could make places well, Marshall eight men, the Oklahoma State kids still on the squad, not fast, but uses his body really well. I loved it. I loved the depth on this team, and I like our kicking game If you give me Carlsen not last year, second half the year first part of the year last year and the year before, Give me that. Daniel Carlson. I'm good there, and I love a J called the third Cause this kid can flat out punt the ball. I love our roster, Shawn. I do, too, and then you know, just touched on special teams. I'm not word in that regard. I'm gonna focus a little bit more on the defense, but I'll touch on both sides of all here real quick. I'm more excited than I am skeptical with the defense of side of the ball because you said it, Katie, you know you got the death. You got Eric Harris? Jonathan Abram in the secondary. You know, you've got to get the nickel backs. Their joint is gonna be a big roll..

"The raiders for the Las, Vegas Review Journal, and I'm joined by Sam Gordon. My teammate. Also covering the raiders this year he covers unlv normally Abbott because things aren't happening over there. He's come over to the raiders beat the dark side. How welcome to the dark side by the way happy to be here. To Saddle exactly lots to talk about obviously the raiders made a trade for a linebacker yesterday. A little bit about who who they traded for and I'll try to put some perspective on why they made that trade to add the inside Linebacker for the Miami Dolphins Ray. Khan. Is. Kwon Kwon McMillan. Yeah. Requirement Miller. Chef Tag. Fans out there. Yeah. There's there's there's you know when you're a sportswriter, you're getting used to some odd not odd names but just different names nowadays, you know Ray Kwame McMillan one McMillan the raiders ship out a fourth round pick to the Miami Dolphins in exchange for Macmillan A fifth round draft pick and McMillan is I mean let's break it down a run stuffing linebacker. That's what he specializes in played quite a bit for Miami the last couple years productive player and fits in I mean. Now we're GONNA see like you like you touched on any, we're gonNA see where he fits in in that linebacking core that revamp linebacking core a reworked group and. You know he provides a skill necessary important skill in today's game and I think he's going to be a solid fit. Just it's understandable why they go out make the deal there's no doubt about it, and before we go, any further were presented by Sunday ticket Dora Dash and favor shot. Yeah. Here's the thing I thought about it was a good trade. They also got a fifth round pick. They basically flip flopped fourth and fifth round with the dolphins for draft coming up You know when you look at what the raiders have done in Linebacker, they signed Cory Littleton, they signed Nick Wykowski and Free Agency two major upgrades to what was. One of their biggest weaknesses year if not their biggest. Last year but there was also a spot open in their base four three defense at you'll alongside them and Nicholas Morrow has been in the running Jason White from from UNLV has made a little bit of a push tanner mused the rookie from Clemson. Is a guy that you know the raiders remain high on but I think he's going through a bit of a transition here going from safety and college at Clemson. To linebacker they signed kyle a manual. You know. So it's been kind of a they've brought in some guys and obviously now they bring in McMillan and I think it's a sign that he's GonNa Compete probably win that base four, three linebacker spot alongside Littleton and quick. Hausky. But I also think that you know when you look at Littleton and Cook Hausky one thing that jumps out at me they're not that big right they're not. That big. And yes, that helps in pass coverage. Both of them are sideline to sideline linebackers I think chasing down running backs in the run game. They're okay but I think you know when when you're talking about Smash Mouth Football where you're in in run defense where you're coming up in in in your run fits and making stops at the line of scrimmage. You need some beef and McMillan Definitely Brings Abi Yeah. He certainly does he certainly does and I wanted to touch on something. I. Saw a few tweets yesterday engaging with fans. You talk about the raiders based four three defense. Can you break down just what? What s what this trade means? How much? How much in today's football where you see? So, much passing so much spread. How often are the raiders going to be in that four three? Would you imagine and what type of opportunities does that provide for? For Way Milanesi me a first and second down linebacker? Do you see him being out there on some third dollars or two or what does that rotation GonNa look him in the feds? Obviously, it'd be situationally. The team that I covered last the rams. Base defense and they were three forty events. Sure. They were in base probably thirty percent of the time. So it's not a lot and it's getting that number's getting smaller and smaller with the way offenses are now spreading things out and forcing you to have. To cover guys all over the field, and that puts a lot of pressure on your linebackers to keep up in pass coverage and not everyone has that skill set. You're just talking about a it's a math problem you know bigger. Bigger, guys that way more are at a disadvantage when they're asked to cover guys don't faster and quicker and more athletic dinner. So as a result. You know teams are are shifting. More and more out of that base defense to bring in an extra safety to bring in a extra cornerback to be able to provide that coverage. That's where quick Husky and Littleton are so valuable. They are three down linebackers. They're good enough against the run and they're, but they're really good in pass coverage especially little. That's one of these one of the best in the League at doing that. So you know a guy. Like McMillan will come off the field known passing situations typically for an extra quarterback or our safety, and as we know when you take a look at some of the numbers, pass coverage is certainly not mcmeel strength right? In two thousand, eighteen quarterbacks had a one forty, six point two passer rating when targeting him, that's I mean you can't do much better than that and then even last year one, hundred, two point so. He can be exploited in passing situations but I think the way he fits in here with that defense and with Paul Guenther and what he wants to do. They're going to be you're going to be creative and they're gonNA put him in position where he's going to be able to be successful. He has this very specific skill. He's young. He's physical twenty four years old entering the prime of his career and he's the kind of player that defense didn't necessarily as as as much as it's improved. They didn't necessarily have somebody like him at the point of attack on first and second down. Yeah. If this was the nineteen eighties early nineteen, ninety s this guy would be a one of the top linebackers and the game because football was just so different than you needed that smashmouth big tough. GNARLY kind of middle linebacker type of a guy that that was just going to be on the field and making run meadow. Yeah exactly. So and and like you mentioned you know the raiders don't have that commodity right now. So they went out and got it. Now isn't an indictment on quick house-key little littleton people that take it that way I don't think it is i. just think that it's a recognition of what they don't necessarily bring. He compliments what they exactly and and you know. When you go to his past coverage, numbers, it's not good. But there aren't that many perfect players I mean think about it. You know the perfect players are in the hall of fame. everyone pretty much short of that. You'RE GONNA. Have things that you do really well, and the things that you don't do so well, and you have to as a coach, you have to maximize the strong suits and try to protect the the aspects of the game than a guy might not, and that's why it's important to diversify your personnel and have guys that are good in different kinds of situations, and this is what this does for the raiders from any period. Yeah. Exactly and so so I think that that was a good trade for the for the raiders at adds a component that they didn't have or didn't feel comfortable that. They had no trade also happened on Sunday with with the player that the raiders were definitely interested in definitely connected to, and that's defensive end a young Yanic in GAAG way from the Jacksonville Jaguars who ended up going to the Minnesota Vikings for a fifth round pick for a second round pick and a conditional fifth round pick from what I understand that fifth round pick based on I'm sure playing time and numbers, and all that can can could become a third round pick So so that's why Jacksonville could potentially get as a second and third round pick in the twenty twenty one draft and I think the twenty, twenty, two draft. is how it plays out. So I know there's probably some disappointment from Raider fans that that they didn't get Janaka guy that they could have definitely use. Yeah and understandably. So if there is disappointment he's twenty five years old he's in his prime he's one of the best. Pass rushers in the League eight.

"And as promise what we have for you right here at the top here of this segment is an interview with a Meek Robertson who will be joining the raiders. Coming season he is so fired up to join this team This guy he really has I think the right mindset when you look at what you want when you're building a team culture and trying to get people that the team can rally around. Will I think definitely from what I've heard in this interview? Cassie Soto Amiga Robertson Has All that fire? He's got all those things let's see if he could put it together here on the field when it comes to be time for him to get out there on the gridiron. So let's go ahead here from a Meek Robertson who spoke with cassie. Soto it starts out here talking about what it was like getting the call from Jon Gruden being a raider. It was a wonderful moment. May you know it was a lot. I was so nervous about the caller thanking. That wouldn't get to call but after talking to mail fin. I couldn't even explain you know. Just hearing his voice mess a moment. I'll never forget the moment I know. Forget well did you know that. The raiders were interested in you at that point. I honestly didn't on my agent at all. You know he always talked about. I mean he always talked to me interested but I talked to a couple of times by like twice but it wasn't a lot a lot by like five time. I only talk to them twice so when I got the call from. John grew newest like it was. It was shocking. You know like Jon. Gruden is just just call my phone like it was just a wonderful wonderful feeling well after you were drafted and make you said that. The raiders got the best DB in this year's draft class. Why did you say that? Why why are you so confident in yourself that you can be the guy? The raiders truly need a mccovey person because I work hard know our God than everybody you know. All the thing is I was in with man was the height. I I was blessed with talent. The work ethic you know and I'm a guy that can really depend on the shooter organization. That can make a mistake now. Wall fans obviously didn't get to see you on the field at this year's combine because of an ongoing joint injury that you were suffering and working. How are you feeling now? What's the recovery process? Been like for you. Will John next out through. I'll say men coach critically you know when they asked him. You know from from a scale term. I'm not one hundred percent kind of Paul what I'm like. I'm not one hundred percent. I'm one hundred and twenty percent. If was to have a game tomorrow Rob Zoo one hundred Robertson feel like nothing like nothing happens for fans who really do want to get to know you a make. How would you describe the kind of person you are off field very genuine? Got Guy like I said that depend on that you can count on team player you see on. I love my family. Loves YOU KNOW SEMI GALLO? Bear my family to deport me no they. They helped me get to. Wow man not meant to date so on like I say mom great person overall you know in an I gotTa say before got it. A jaw dot came to pin down. Yeah well I recently spoke to Tanner Muse. One of your other draft class Guys and he's never been to Vegas. Have you ever been to Vegas? I have never been to Vegas. Never Been My mom and my dad is like you know. Stay away from the casinos. I'm like this is tricky business. I'm all I'm all focused. I'm not worried about the the bright lights and like I'm not saying this is this is by us all right. Well besides the bright life so I got ask you. What are you most excited to see? Allegiance stadiums probably up there. But there's got to be something about Las Vegas. You can't wait to see. I don't know honestly like I was number. One will be the stadium. I just can't wait and see the stadium teammate. Says as well you know the practice can't get to the facility and get to work because I will live there like I will live out when probably never go home. You know we live there. Well you say right there. You can't wait to meet your teammates in these weird virtual times. Are you doing zoom or skype calls with your teammates? Kind of working to get you. Integrated into the Raiders Organization. Well I've been interacting with giant mayhem close to you. Know Ma'am go way way back home just trying to kind of catch milk because the rookies having really started virtual mejet on in a coaches are looking for four to us like look like I think recall the virtual means a Senate us we just go of it like we are in the in the meeting but it's basically narrated to weight win over so United States go Latin. I mean it's it's the hope you know guys like John has helped miss as anybody. You're excited to me on to recall many. You call me the after the draft would drop me. Call me was like you know. You're grateful ballplayer ready to play with you. You know you you you got it. I can tell loved the game. You're you're passionate you know and I can. I can hear his voice the game as well so guys like that. You love the final ones for you. Here what's a fun fact about you or a hidden talent that you have one sank about a meat? Roberson would definitely be. My name is my mom named bill back was her name is Kema. My name is so spelled. That was fun. When you aren't playing football what can fans find you doing this whole because everything I do I would. I would say my family. I would have been. I wouldn't say workers our got a lot but I would say if I was to say look into the is going to be. My Dad would see spend time sending my family to date. They very important again. That was a meek. Robertson Raiders cornerback. Who joined us here with? Cassie Soto on the show. You can catch the full interview on Cox Channel Fourteen. We had that episode air just yesterday with Meeks. Oh the full thing is now you can head to Vegas. Nation DOT COM to check that out but as I said earlier on the show I took to twitter today and I spoke with some of the fans about what they're looking forward to most opponent wise when it comes to this season with the raiders and the consensus. Wouldn't you know it is really the chiefs chiefs and seeing if this is the year that the Derek Carr can get that you know pass the chiefs. That's been his biggest hurdle. It seems that he has just been struggling with especially in Arrowhead. Derek Carr has two and ten record against the chiefs but not an arrowhead so that is something. I think. The fans mean here. When they say the cheese chiefs Tampa Bay. I think comes in second when you look over at the big tanners. Great named by the way great handle he says. I'd love to see Casey early this year. We have to kick them in the mouth so earlier. The better Tampa Bay on Monday night football. Let's do that. I don't know if that will happen. But that was just one of the tweets that I got out there from Raider nation. So I wanted to get your take on whether or not this is the year the Derek Carr can go into Arrowhead and really get this done and get over that Hump. That seems to be the biggest thing when it comes down to criticism of their car Vinny you wrote about their car. And how the raiders of stuck with him through everything but eh I I wanna go to you and get your take on what car as far as getting into Arrowhead and winning would need to do. Well actually it's the other side of the the lion it look. I you have to see when they play there again. It I the it's under fifty degrees. You've lost the last ten eight. The team has even you gotta see. When let's say window when you know good weather and Fowler offensively to score you know mid twenties issues to stop the are ending on the year. Really well they could lose only two third. I mean they. They're issue they have to stop at quarterback. I mean they can maybe score more. Sending the raiders definitely better off this year. I don't think it has to be a deer are maybe the. Weather's you know others dad. You played at issue with cheese is the quarterback. Yes Not Mahone. Then you can play really well off until well matter so. I think the cheese Aaron I go to the other side wines. Better playing defense or some whatever defensor. It doesn't matter how good there are plays or not Vinnie. What's your take on that? I think that obviously you wanNA chase down the kings of your division the chiefs artistic kings of the AFC kings the AFC conference in the national football league champions. And I think that it's noble to want to To close that gap in the raiders are trying to do that but I think more importantly than that is is dealing with thirty other teams in the National Football League starting with the Denver Broncos And then the Los Angeles chargers in your own division. Try to set yourself up as preemptive second-placed team in the AFC west get into the playoffs. Beat those two teams beat everybody else. Adeel that everyone else in the AFC in the AFC. Those are the teams that you're dealing with competing against to get to the play offs and the teams that you're playing in the NFC south this year so take care of business in that regard. It'll eventually that gap will start closing between the the writers of chiefs of but I think it's a little too soon to start thinking about beating them. Of course you WanNa win when you wouldn't play that but overtaking them being the best team in the AFC west. That's great to think like that more more. Realistically the raiders have to take another step before getting to that point as dealing with everyone else in their division just edged aid to throw this in just texted a sportsbook director in Vegas and ask. What's the line Raiders chiefs and he told me probably fourteen so Traditionally that's about about eleven percent or fourteen hundred win in the NFL but the actual wind probability is somewhere around four percent So yeah sure they can wear absolutely they. Could anybody can win in the NFL? But that'll be among the point. Spread Jalousie The Scott got it just going to say that's three people saying very simply And thanks to the tweet. It will be very hard to expect him in the head. You mentioned the cold weather there. That's something the cars obviously struggled where he still has yet to win. When kickoff is under forty degrees so That's something to keep note of when we look at the schedule but for today that'll do it for us here because we are. "Saad Feld up for big time trade up somebody to get them right trying to try trying to trying to get them ready trying to get them ready trying to get them right and if he shows up for like three or four games if there's a preseason he he kind of like has one of those awesome performances he he can go look a couple of other things that just kind of stuck out to me as surprises. Josh Jones. Falling all the way to the third round. I can't figure out what that was about like. I mean obviously this is a different time because without pro days and those things that we haven't been tipped off on some things that we would find out like sooner rather than later and the fact that this is a guy that we talked about being a fringe first round pick. He goes in the third round. That was surprising that was bigger surprises. So I'd Oklahoma and I'll tell you why thank I'll tell you why. I think what might have happened. Josh Jones played. I believe a little under three hundred pounds when he was University of Houston had four. Different offense align coaches for years within his workout was was very average. He came in at three hundred. Nineteen pounds. Sir. I think too big. I didn't think he moved well on tape. He was very athletic at the combine. He moved the same. He is what I saw on tape so I think he got too heavy. He didn't move as well. His workout numbers were were. Were just kind of average. There was nothing that really stood out about it as a now all of a sudden you had this athlete on tape that you don't see this. He was just average at the at the work. I think that may have heard him some. Also I don't know if there's anything else if I if I did. I would say what I could but I I don't know of anything. Here's where it could hurt him last like the last couple of years. We haven't seen as many coaches venture down to the senior bowl so the first time. The coach have had exposure to Jones by depending on the common. He was good at senior bowl right. He's good three hundred in one thousand nine hundred pound guy that didn't move will at the combine that first impression. Sometimes it's hard to get out of your mind particularly when guys are looking at tape whereas if they watched him at the senior bowl have been around him and then it changes how you view him in Games and and how you View him coming into Europe guys. I want to get to some of the notable storylines here that we saw develop through rounds to in three and get into that here in just a second. But can I give you? Maybe the most non surprising pick of night. Anybody have any guesses? The most non surprising for me was Devon AC- acid going to hatreds. When I started watching it took me like seven. Plays like this looks like a big athletic. You know I'm GonNa give you at pick number one hundred. Mike mayock selects CLEMSON's Tanner Muse. The safety you blew up the combine with a four four one forty two thirty pounds. Come on you. Do it was happening. Didn't you come on man feel feel right into it and so ran for four one? He was everything like he lit up. He was the DECAF elite of the weekend at the combine and then But man third around there runs normally not like five six. That's all you normally not win when you do that. But he's getting. He thinks he has Matt Milano. Is that what he's thinking? Some of that has always been the right away. The raiders would always take like big big and fast you can be drafted exceptional qualities and He's good but you're right man. They're they're loaded with Alabama clemson got a lot of. He's got a lot of former teammates on that squad. Basic Chemistry in the continuity is gonNA be great because they're all our buddies from high school. It's all t you know. He was ticked off at AJ. Terrell went and before he could get them all right. How about that? You wanted to add to the mix too no doubt. I just thought that was fun. Okay so some notable storylines here and I want to start with one. That was kind of a little bit under the radar coming into the night here guys and it was in the second round. We started to hear some rumblings of the Trent Williams deal perhaps coming to fruition with Washington. Maybe engaging the Minnesota Vikings in trade talks here again the Vikings Riley Ref- left tackle. But is this. Is this an area where they would have tried to bring in tremblings? Well it turns out that as they are working their way down that the board here in the second round and coming on the clock at fifty eight overall. They decide what? We're not going to do it. We're going to just take as Cleveland. The offensive tackle from Boise state winds up being the. Let's see that was on the set. Are We counting Robert Hunt as a tackle regard? I'm counting Amaafuza Guard. I think he's going to have to start off as a guard and they've got a right tackle. Worry now there you go so we count is R-. Cleveland is the first tackle on day two in the seventh overall. I just thought that was an interesting storyline ear. Because here comes the redskins are just are still saddled with this. Absolutely disgruntled player. Who sounds like he has no intentions of ever playing for them again and are they. Are they asking too much? Is it just? Is it not a situation that teams want to get involved in with him not playing at all last year and so I just thought that was One of the interesting story lines here because we have not seen an actual player current. Nfl player traded at all in these. First three rounds. And that's something that we've seen in recent years. Yeah that's normally what we see more activity. This would be when Gaza become the dump off the players that were disgruntled Ghazi. They WANNA move on from. Yea All those other things and it's been very slow this year but maybe maybe all the activity will happen on day three because now when you make the trade union we can give you something in twenty twenty one We can't give you one of our topics this year and maybe teams will be more likely to accept that. It's just been it's been an interesting thing. We have seen some trades but certainly not as much movement as we are accustomed seeing overdraft weekend nine to these guys. We're talking about it in a way and Williams. They've also hurt their team in terms of leverage to get a deal done so a potentially you know for sure but potentially and so you got to be able to if you're a team who's asking for for whatever and another team smells blood because they know that that that players disgruntled on twitter and they think well we got all the leverage the Jacksonville Jaguars don't have the leverage we're not paying paying what they're you know what they're asking for for quake and make it a little bit more difficult. Trent Williams situation. There's no secrets air. We know what the deal is on that one. I think they've got to move off from Williams. They gotta get some. Yeah they gotTa Internet for Williams one way or another. It's gone on long enough. They've gotta move him and get him in it at some point after draft and chase on the Jaguars are probably going to have to get out of the building and let him go somewhere else but You know as far as far as any other any other storylines that that stick out to you. That's all you know I. It's hard for me because I look at it as the way I look at it is. I want to see how the flow of a draft works so the floor of the draft. I like looking this was I knew it was going to be probably tackles maybe quarterbacks and it actually tackles fell back a little bit and then guys are drafting best defensive players available. I thought there was a big rush to to to pick corners that maybe didn't belong in the first round and then you get a different flow which included. We're not. We're not going to get the pocket quarterbacks and so we talked about that frothiness and that was one of the huge story. Yeah and and honestly when I when I wrote the guys up I do radio shows and Buckeye. You probably were ask question to okay so outside of the big four. Give me another quarterback that you think is a real sneaky good starter. That's it's not there. It doesn't exist in this draft. I can give you an answer if you WanNa play the game where we do. Okay tell me a late round guy that you can develop them. I don't know James Morgan. Jake Luton I mean. It's this is a four quarterback draft for the most part. I think if you're talking to us it guys you have a chance to be dudes there because everyone is looking for the next government's you or something like that now. Say That's an anomaly. Like the way he was able to go in there and not only make the team but supplant. Nick foles is starting quarterback. This that doesn't come around often. I actually thought that the the Jack quarterback they have shown little to no interest in finding their quarterback well but they got three picks in the fourth bucks. That's what I was GonNa ask you next. Do you guys think that they say they're not going to. But once you get to the fourth round this is backup territory are are. We sure they're not going to take a look at frahm or Easson number. One forty like their quarterback is in twenty twenty one trevor Lars Justin field. Yeah why is another guy to the room when you know governments? She's going to be a guy and you can get maybe a cheap a backup option for him well. The price has fallen considerably on Cam. Newton and Jameis Winston at this. Because like now I mean the musical chairs even trying to slot those quarterbacks the only place we Cam Newton in my mind is New England and for James James says a tough road to Hoe In terms of the backup quarterback job. Because we're working. He go like he can't go to green bay anymore. Like I thought would be the Jacksonville. It's tough so that is a story line to follow as we enter day. Three you know guys is where does Jacobson in DUB words Jake from end up in? What kind of situation do they end up in? I think is even more interesting here. I was with a couple of guys on the radio. That were more surprised than the two of you tonight to see those names still out there really. There really surprised jake from. Yeah Yeah really were brock. You're among them Does right Brooke sweet spot? Does that make sense? Yeah okay well good reasons you know so anyway. You know another story line tonight where the running backs and as we mentioned our Guy Daniel. Jeremiah has been doing a great job on the joint broadcast with. Espn and NFL.

"I mean my God Oh true freshman number even try just any now that sides down over there. Let's keep going. The one over here on anywhere else can go somewhere else and I taught honestly watching tape or brow. Kirk I thought eighty-eight I thought Galloway he didn't play a ton this year obviously for for Clemson but they need that tight end h back to that can attack the middle and they did it. I drive and it was a huge game. How long did he got like forty yards on that first? Big Point Twenty fifty yards on that I put I agree. They didn't have an answer over the middle of the field and an traversed Trevor's insane arm strength in the dude can throw it anywhere and you've seen his ability. You know. Next year I think the next progression for him to is more touch. You know more more touch over the middle of the field more layering the football and I I think they'll give him more routes kirk everything they run that offense is high degree difficulty. Throw and I mean there's just there's not a lot of Gimme and Joe on twin eighteen to twenty yard outside third and eight thirty nine and I and I think that's that's tough. I I do think this go ahead. David Finish up. Because I WANNA last thing I was just gonNa say Joe Boroughs throwing a million slants and a million easy throws that. Are there bunnies. That should be caught in that. Move the sticks and you get another crack to go to go down field. I think they could do a little better job of more. RPO Games in more easy plays more easy completion. The more pop passes when you do have a guy like. At and they can run the football and trevor overlords ability to run the football. Now you can really kill the middle of the field and then I take my shots. Deep on the outside of the field and they lose higgins. WHO's coming out early? Ross's Ross's back the they have those two young freshmen that are really talented Ten into that that have similar BILBO. Both the guys are kind of Long Galloway. Oh have a year to get ready in the off season. We saw glimpses of what he could do in that game. and then Amaury Rogers Gers. I think it'll be a big key in developing is David talked about between Galloway and Rogers and it goes to coming on. We'll be as important as anything for Trevor Lawrence you lose. I'm assuming come out is. He hasn't decided yet. That's that's the big. That's the big one. I'm a crippling. Is it fair to say. Ah The deadline for that. Is it next twenty okay. My assumption is he's gone and if and if he is the way they recruit they're always going to the players. Li Lin j Dickson is a very talented player he's just not an et end. ESPN is is the key to their whole offense. He's whether no he's catching the ball to the backfield. Running the football yards after contact guy can do so much so if he decides to come out that that's not like oh no problem just bringing the next one. And that's that's a bit of a setback there that spot with the way the CLEMSON's restocking reloading. We know they'll be back and so so. Let's say four senior offensive line and offensive lineman left tackle Jackson Carmen. And if you follow recruiting. They're defensive class their defensive line class they just brought in is going to be stupid so Davos targeted next year by the time that rolls around to the playoffs. Because they've they've already had you know a good solid thirteen fourteen by weeks. And they're going to be you know scrimmage that a couple of scrimmages and they'll be ready to rock and roll and ready to reload and and it really if you look at their defense. Every one of those. I think Thomas Xavier Thomas going to be better next year. I thought he got heavy. I think he'll he'll tail. Drop some weight here. David you can relate to one point your career your lighter than you thought maybe tell us about how you went from being light making a lot of plays for whatever reason you wanted to get bigger than you went back down to being lighter. I think he's going through that a little bit himself. I think he wants to get down and wait to be a little bit more explosive off the the edge they have Rudolph back there foster back. Tyler Davis to freshman Jordan Williams fifty nine so all those guys return along with. Is You just said that new wave players coming in. They lose Chad Smith. They lose Isaiah Simmons. Cave on wall is Tanner Muse. But everybody else is back. I I'm guessing is. Aj Terrell announced anything with what he's doing an ounce he has neither the other way. It's Simmons has an either GonNa do it together. I did a couple years ago. Yeah Yeah they pay all stayed and came back and then spent Bama. Yeah I mean they they all have till the twenty two sides so they got four days in between and you you mentioned the schedule for them of course. ACC But circle November seven. Th You guys they may be making a trip. You know to to Notre Dame because Clemson Jason taken on Notre Dame that that would be a fantastic match. We'll see how that plays out in November summit of the year after that Clemson starts really out of conference scheduling is going to be awesome for them. I mean they're gonNA they're gonNA start amping it up big time and we've seen them in the past take on Auburn and we've seen them take on am and they got Georgia in the future. They're they're doing their best to amp up their schedule as well. I'm looking at the twenty twenty one. They've got South Carolina State Wyoming in Yukon. And we'll see if they could add some more later on before the vote we go. This has been great. You guys breaking down the game. Appreciate that I just one thing I wanNA bring up here because he has said anything to you or me Herbie but somebody somebody I know was eating at a fast food restaurant recently. "Mike you're in New Orleans. Lsu just won the national championship. What was the walk from the Super Superdome to your hotel like I think just by merely walking through that I can no longer claim sobriety as a part of this podcast? At this point my goal junior is a college football analyst. You can hear him every weekday morning on Golic and Wingo on. ESPN radio I saw LSU fans writing double decker bicycles bicycles. There's a lot of noise. I saw indoor fireworks tonight all in all. It's it's about what you'd expect for the biggest party for the best team in college football in this as particular city so for a game that a lot of people predicted correctly would become a bit of a score fest. The championship actually really began pretty slowly because of the two defenses Mike Lsu got pinned next to its own endzone twice. Clemson struck first with quarterback Backtra Lawrence. Running in for a touchdown still talks tigers. Draw the superdome the LSU did score in the first quarter but at the end it was only seven to seven house. Clemson able to bottle up Joe Borough early on it was yes and I have to give our friend and colleague Dan Orlovsky credit for this a set of star wars level blitzes from Clemson defensive coordinator Brent Venables the job that he did going into this game and we were certainly well acquainted and people getting ready for the NFL draft will become even better acquainted with Isaiah Simmons and what a great chesapeake is. But I think within the first two drives of the game he may have lined up at every position on defense and coached a few downs. And that at level of movement of complete mastery of blitz packages from Brent Venables really had joe borough kind of searching for answers. That weren't there. He wasn't very well protected really throughout the majority of the game and so that adjustment period. I think really explained a lot of what we saw that first quarter so Mike Clemson actually actually pulled ahead. Seventeen to seven at one point. That was the score this football game at one point. Seventeen to seven but then Joe Borough and the LSU offense caught caught fire like we've seen them do so many times this year and scored twenty one unanswered points. What got them rolling? Exporting matchups I mean Jomar as and Justin Jefferson. We know has been great all year but seeing Clemson really go back to what their bread and butter was that five widespread out personnel canal. Getting Clyde Edwards allaire great running back and pass catcher out there sort of is a chesapeake to give information back to their quarterback out near the sideline figuring Out Okay are we going to get Isaiah. Simmons Their Safety Tanner Muse one of these linebackers running with him. So the Joe Borough could see what was going on with the rest of this group up front again. The protection really didn't improve much over the night but they were able to get. Jim Are chasing some pretty favourable matchups on the outside and it really for the stretch run. I think changed. This game was as simple as the LSU receivers being able to win their one on one match ups on the outside and Joe Borough doing what he had done the entire season. Especially Ashley in Big Games which is put the ball in unbelievable catch run after the catch physicians for his receivers and let them make plays. I agree with you that the protection didn't really improve as the game went on there. Were so many plays Mike where you know. LSU was an empty and Joe Bro seemed to be Justice split-second from getting being drilled in some cases he did get drilled and at halftime. He was on his stationery bike. A visual that I imagine made hundreds of thousands of Cincinnati Eddie Bengals fans collectively Keel over. We were hearing reports at one point. Then you might have a rib injury. He was just close enough for me to touch as he went off the sideline right and he was gasping. Like that's my sound effect for you. He could not catch his breath and I overheard him saying to somebody. I hope I didn't just break a rib on the field L.. Coming out of the half. Did you see any signs. That Bro was hurt early on. Oh Yeah you could tell a definite difference in the way he was carrying self really going all the way back to that quarterback draw that was called on third and ten with no timeouts left at the end of the first half where I think that was the shot that he took and there are reports that he came back over. Go to the sideline and was really short of breath at the start of the second half we saw. What would been all year a fearless Joe Borough a guy who had moved around so deftly in in pockets as they're collapsing navigating? All these bodies start to actually look like he was taking his own safety into account for the first time and you kept waiting around to see. What the adjustments were instead? The adjustment was this kid's just going to go out there and be tougher than everybody. I think one screen pass was about all we saw that indicated that Joe Brady and the rest of this offensive. Coaching staff were maybe starting to think of ways to get the ball out of Joe's hands quicker other than that. It was more of the same and a quarterback just continuing to add. Add to the folklore. In that moment right he continued to run the ball in the second. Half which Mike no one is going to say this. But he's sneaky athletic. It can screwed so the second half was a story of total domination not only by. LSU's offense events but also the defense which really stifled Trevor Lawrence. I mean he had a number of uncharacteristic overthrows and then ultimately fumbled with less then four minutes left basically putting the game on ice. What impressed you about? LSU's defense. I think just how fast they looked at every level of that defense and the story of their defense down the stretch of the season especially in the last five to six games had been the health of that secondary overall. I think that units prowess on the back end their ability to be physical with these clemson. Wide receivers big. Long bodies like t higgins and Justin. Ross we saw get pushed around a little bit in the Ohio State. Game in the semi final matchup got a little bit of that same action from this group in the secondary and then allowed Kaleva on Jason and the rest of this group up front to events. Start to get some of that pressure you imagining towards the middle and end of the second half there when they really started to tee off and make trevor uncomfortable on the pocket so the speed of Lsu Su secondary again being able to make these wide receivers uncomfortable and get off their timing was beyond impressive. So Joe Burrows said a number of records tonight. He threw the most passing touchdowns in a single season in F. B. S. history. He's responsible for the most touchdowns in a title game period and also through the most fjords in a championship. Basically every record like do you think this will go down as the greatest season by a quarterback in college football history. Theory and spoiler folks what will the Cincinnati bengals beginning in him if they draft him first overall. Yes starting with the season as a whole well. That was really the talk of basically everyone leaving the stadium everyone associated with our network and otherwise was did we witness wire-to-wire the best college football season. Maybe maybe a by any player ever forget. Just any quarterback and I know we've had this discussion a lot lately about what Cam Newton put together with that Auburn team back in two thousand ten just having so oh little around him I think is the difference in terms of overall production. It's so rare to see anything like this and mean and we see so many of these spread offenses the air array principles that have really matriculated their way up from college to the NFL but to see the the pinpoint accuracy that Joe Borough brought to the table that lethal defoe level of being able to put the ball in uncommon places for a college quarterback. especially I think really separates it the numbers I mean no. SEC quarterback had thrown throne for even forty five hundred yards in a season. Before we saw. Joe Borough did with over fifty six hundred this year. So I think it is one of the most singularly dominant the seasons by any player ever at the college level and so what Cincinnati gets is a bit of an anomaly. Right we got a chance on Golic and wingo talked to todd mcshay. One of our draft analysts who said there're some personnel departments in the NFL. That are pretty blown away by what they've seen. A lot of people might have had around a fifth round grade after last year season. And now I think they got a guy and what's going to shine through throughout the pre-draft processes just the intangibles that you get from him. Everyone you talk to around this program said that in addition to knowing you're going to get incredible production the not so sneaky athleticism that we saw displayed time and time again you got a level of feeling of always having a chance in the fight because you ahead nine on your side and I think that ability for a franchise like Cincinnati who is trying to break away from anonymity. You're looking at a guy who seems to have that ability ready to lift others up around him and I think that's got to be exciting as a potential future growth point at that position for the Cincinnati Bengals or any other team. That would be lucky enough to have them. Thanks Mike Catt go join the celebration but stay away from the inside fireworks. I can make no promises.

"The defense isn't quite as dominant, but the stats show otherwise, yeah, they've been destroying opponents and giving a fewer points and fewer yards this season than they did last season with all these quote-unquote Talent. It was a lot of talent don't get me wrong, but they've plugged and played these new guys in there and they're showing up to play and they are absolutely ready. For Primetime. I have no questions of Defense. Yeah. That's what I remember. We were going to the game and you're you're telling me like FSU can put up some points. I was looking at their scores and like they have and we get out there and watch the game and like they look like a high school office out there. Like they just couldn't move the ball at all. Like they had no chance throughout the game and they just got destroyed it was they looked terrible. It was now it's all because of Clemson absolutely. Absolutely. They were home. It was an ugly ugly game for the Florida state offense and they only finished with 253 yards which sounds better than it really was because second half. Yeah more than half of those yards came. Fourth-quarter because I remember looking up over at the during a commercial break looking at the Jumbotron the gym botron know and Florida State had fewer than a hundred yards in the third quarter. Are you kidding me? Yeah, it was it was a Beatdown beautiful. And of course in the fourth quarter Clemson gave up a couple of big plays their second third and fourth fifth and sixth eighth string players gave up some big plays. But again overall there's you can't say enough good things about this defense. They only gave up 10 first downs Florida state was 2013 on third down and I guess it really the only negative I have here is that Tanner Muse is terrible at celebrating. I got terrible dancers don't even know how long I remember during the game watch them. Like what just happened and watching on T after like what? Yeah, I get I was still like what just happened. I'm not exactly an expert on the history of dance or modern dance club. But is that a dance? I don't know what he was doing go back and watch the game. He was just like stomping on the ground oddly. Actually then later in the game. They showed a kicker who the backup trigger. I forget his name and it must be some kind of team celebration or something that we don't know about but it looked kind of fun. That's for sure. But it was just a bad overall day for Clemson dance package is and I guess that's a good segue into my final point my final take away and you've been making fun of me for a couple of weeks now but BT Potter man..

"They just look a little bit out of sync right now with forty one seconds left, really. I'm you say that they have so many explosive plays. Didn't do it in a blur. This looks like a shootout. Do you want to take advantage of every possession? If you can forty one seconds to go in the half long play count here down to five on the play clock to a direct snap back to pass up to the Crockett doubt takes off running for the near numbers and ducks under a hit at the thirty one with Tanner muse the safety back in the game in hot pursuit four yards. Short of the first down Alabama might have your thought process Todd. They're not stopping the clock with all three timeouts and the clocked out twenty one seconds to go. And if I'm Clemson, I am putting my safeties back deep. Now. I want everything that they run a player. Throwing I wanted in front of me. I don't even think Alabama's gonna wanna play. Now, the defending national champions. Taking a knee here. They will snap it. Again. Dan, the half that war. You here is the very well represented. Clemson Tigers stance. Fans going crazy to our left which is the end of the field of which both tunnels are the teams departing the field end of the first half. And wanted entertaining. I f get was the score is Clemson thirty one Alabama six Dave now. Here's Mark Chester shirt down the field where the autozone. Halftime report. Jon and Trevor managed with me we are in that northwest corner where clemson's players are exiting through the orange engine purple plaid fans, enjoying this Alabama. You guys mentioned it. We're down thirteen nothing last year before they wanted overtime against Georgia. They find themselves down fifteen here at halftime this year, Alabama this year the entire year only trailed for fifty three offensive plays coming into this game. We've now trailed for thirty seven of the forty in this contest before we get to our halftime report. I would Trey wingo years. Mike Golic guys. This. She's a big time.
