Used to be. I think it was a Curtis six and park before they moved it out there. But anyway, you're looking thing. Yes, it is that Did you check it on? Googled. I've seen it before, but I'm looking at it now. Yeah. Doesn't say there. It's called the exploding chicken. Well, I just looked up exploding chicken Tampa and it's the first got it Looks like an exploding chicken. Why was it? Yeah. Doesn't really look like one. Looks like it's got so flat out. Yeah, I don't. I'm sure I've seen Oh, yeah, It's it is. It's in the middle of the right by your place there and working. Okay. Just I guess I've never really looked that closely out of that was just there the other day, but I didn't know that's what it represented. Like the chicken bones Throw away. Fuck. We could play a game like what do you see? At this sculpture. Putting chicken No Sean exploding chickens. So that's what I got named enough. But anyway, he's going to be joining us for those Remember? The good old days here when he had the Tampa Tribune and they Have many times in the evening Independent and the Tampa Times was the afternoon paper in Tampa and the Clearwater son. We had five newspapers here daily newspapers. Didn't include Leggo say done. Couple of other publications. There's any seven year olds walking around now going. What's a newspaper? Probably? Yeah. What's that? Always still got to Published edition is there out each week from the Tampa Bay Times. I don't know why I picked on seven year olds is very specific, not like kids in general. Like you got attacked by seven year old or something you got like a vendetta Vendetta against seven year olds rough here from a city still have daily newspapers. Believe it or not. Made out of paper, which now everything is online. For sure, By the way, the big question now is when is the Super Bowl championship parade going to be held? And, um Hmm. A mayor..

It's my love is there uh, is this your because I feel like this was my era and are now like 10 years older than you. I'm going to make you feel old, but from like, first grade graduation I listen to rap from 93 to 2015 27. Wow. Okay. You know, I thought you were younger. OK? No. You're an old man. I'm part of the 27 club. Hopefully not. Oh, no, no, no, don't do that. Don't do that. Um, I mean, you're literally above that, so I think I think it's good parenting. To allow your kids. You're gonna let your kids listen to hip hop and you should let him listen to whatever they want to listen to. Um, But if you see that they're kind of gravitating towards Ah hip hop music. I would say it's almost a responsibility as a good parent. To let them listen to some early nineties, mid nineties hip hop music because Like that, Like the forefathers of of modern hip hop, like, like biggie like to park like, you know. Ah Ah, God. You know, Mobb deep like you know Wu tang, like, you know, like early knives, you know, like so much good stuff underrated, bro. Not for me. It ain't Buddy. I already got that. I'm already memorized in the new album now, So Yeah, I got a new album. It's very good. It came out like two weeks ago. It's on Spotify get in. But Oh, yeah. You listen to that, And then you'll start to see the connection between some of the new stuff, you know, because a lot of that AA is still resonating with some of the newer cats, So it's good. I like it. I think everybody should listen to it. I think it should be a rule. Um, my computer is doing some weird stuff. Um, I still on there. Yeah, I'm looking at my monitor is like, Oh, I'm getting like our glasses on every every page of my case, Then I look at that I look at bone TV and hop hop. He's frozen like a statue. I'm like, Oh, well, they have a boy. Like a few weeks ago. You were talking about the government and then your Internet went out. Remember that? Yeah. Well, another time on a Sunday show, joking around. I was joking around about the weather on and then lightning struck my house and ah and knocked me off the Yeah, you Oh, no, It's not about religion that it was You remember? Yeah, and all said lightning in my house. My car, My bad J c. Dying about crazy, bro. You would think you would get the hand by bad mouth. God, God punishes you talk about Mother Nature. You ruin our once party, the Buccaneers watch party. You think you would learn your lesson, but no, You just keep going, doubling down, tripling down. Funny. Um so Thunder and lightning backfield makes 2 2021 Hall nominees. So let me explain what that means. Don't get too excited. There's 130 people that our nominees for the pro football Hall of Fame the way it works is they get dwindled down like they keep on voting in a day. They trim it down like 30, and then they they take those 30 and they trim that down to 15. And then that that gets Ah Finally down to five or six. I think Get inducted every year. Um, we have one Hall of Fame voter in Tampa. And that is ah, IROC. Hoffman. He's ah! He works with Joe Bucks fan now, but he's he was the Tampa Tribune writer forever, and he's been covering the Bucks for God. I want to say 35 40 years like a long time. And so he's one of he's one of the Hall of Fame voters. Um and he's been He's also It's his duty to speak on behalf of the finalists, so he he spoke for Derrick Brooks. He spoke. He spoke for Warren Sapp, you know, And you know, it's almost like a closing arguments in a court case like they get up there, and I got a few minutes to speak in front of all the other writers that are voters. To try to get him in. And he is he has been going to bat hard for John Lynch. The last couple of votes, and it just hasn't really gotten him over and he's doing the best he can, and a lot of people are saying it's going to be this year John Lynch gets in Because Ah, The Super Bowl is in Tampa. How sweet. Would that be to get John Lynch in the year? Two Super Bowls in Taba, Um, would be sweet. Yeah. What about Rhonda is Renee in rendezvous keeps on getting into like the final. You know, 15, but he doesn't He? You know, he just It's ridiculous when you look at his stats Like it's unbelievable that he's not in the hall and there's there's a lot of riders that air saying he was a system cornerback Shut up shut. The guy even played safety. After he got a little bit older and lost the step. He went blade safety at Pro Bowl level like Run a barber, I believe is, uh, he might be. The only player definitely was the first player that had Ah, 30 sacks and 30 interceptions. Like just all over the field. I mean, The greatest play in the history of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. It's him picking off Donovan McNabb to send us to the Super Bowl and in Ah Philadelphia closed out. That stadium the last game at the old vet picking his ass off, pointing to his name on his back as he's running across the end zone. Oh, my God, I get goose bumps thinking about it every single time. Ronnie Barbara should be in the Hall of Fame and, uh, the other one Simeon Rice. He makes it into like the conversation every year as an edge Russia. But this year Mike Alstott and work done. Thunder and lightning are in the 130 nominees. I personally think Michael starts a hall of Famer. Um, And that's not just being a homer. I think that guy was ah, hey, was a ridiculous fullback running full back. You know? And I think in an I hate blame Jon Gruden for anything because I know he got us a Super Bowl, but I think I think Jon Gruden calls Michael start the Hall of Fame because he just stopped using them. You know, like he just He didn't use them the way Like Tony Dungy used I'm sorry. Just didn't and man I just and any have the neck injury. But, man, he was such a damn stud. And he was he was. Ah, it was a household name like in the entire league. New and love my house. Stop! Yeah, That's my favorite favorite buccaneer of all time. Hands down. I still go back, like just before Every season starts. I just go back and watch his highlights every year and I remember being a kid and watching those and how much I really just enjoyed watching him. He was he was the best..

I know it was a solid battle plan but but we also know that You know a lot of that stuff's not going to happen but again we do it based on what we feel like. We would do with a general manager. And you know we don't want people to think that this is our prediction of what they're gonNA do. We have fun with it. This you know this is how we would handle it. If we were the general manager and We try to be as realistic as possible. Because I mean I can say oh. Yeah they need to go Need to sign You know he's trade for equal Elliot. How they got running game but they should go out and talk Walter Jones out of retirement and You know whatever it is you know. It's not mad at all right where you can override the trait. But I mean we try to be as realistic and forthright. We'll see how it pans out but I wrote about it in in in one of my calls this week. In the throwback Thursday with the worst reagents near history And I said you know the say really only second to the draft is four stands for and then I go back when I do this for a living. I love read right through the Bob enough number how excited I was hardy dickerson. I can remember exactly where I was up spring. The Tampa Tribune silly cited already. Thanks was coming to town. I was excited with Not so much eric rife or Anthony Collins but you understand what I'm saying so You know what I mean. It's really free these really. I can only do the draft it. It really people like more dot is bigger trapped. I thought God it's forever Even Paler is at this point. I really enjoy reading screen. It's Yeah I like. They're a little bit more before the legal tampering thing because it literally was we were sitting art computers with their own our hand. And he nells pulled up at exactly. Four o'clock start hounding agent. You know you know it was a lot more investigative now with illegal tampering deal. You know it's not as much of that is so Kinda it's Kinda like when your parents which at my parents never did that. I've heard of other people you get to open like one or two of Sun crispy you know what I mean not me I I wanna I wanNA wake up that morning in and everything to open and legal tampering period. Because it does you know kind of what's GonNa happen around four o'clock when the open but It's exciting to me. It's still. It's still a fun time of the year for being and I like I like the draft. I love being an airplane on Thursday night when the Bell Rings and and Roger Goodell walked up without first pick. That is exciting In in something that I love and I am so fortunate to have this job I really am and I hope people understand. I do as much around. I'm silly I do take this job extremely serious and I am very appreciative of the opportunity to be able to do this for a living. Because I've mowed grass I've I've underwritten insurance policies I've whereas I've shoveled Madurai. You know. I really cows that they probably know had every job you can think about working the mines for three months So this is this is a dream. "Jeff Howe is a former newspaper reporter and food writer at the Tampa Tribune now. He's the marketing and public look relations director for the Columbia Restaurant Group in Tampa. Jeff has lately become enamored of local mom and pop convenience stores around the Tampa The bay area and started documenting them on instagram. In his distinctive pithy and humorous style. You have embarked on this project that got our attention. We're you've sort of been documenting mini marts kind of seven eleven would be the generic term for it convenience stores. I like to call them. You mean stores plus the gentle term convenience stores of Tampa Bay and you have done a whole all series of the. Yeah you know. I started doing instagram post. I can't believe I'm doing an interview about Instagram Post. But I started doing them because I have this deep fascination for what they offer a neighborhood Especially the independence You know it's It's a reflection action of the people who shop there and the people who live around there because if they don't have what you need they don't stay in business you know it is it is very much. A reflection of of who their customers are and what their customers want is what they give them because they only have certain amount of square feet to do that very very very local extremely local the local to a group of streets even I. It's it's funny because you can go Even within a half mile of each other and find two very different and experiences and you know everybody talks about these food deserts where there aren't any grocery stores. Convenience stores and a lot of respects. Are The filler. That help people get through their day to day activity. And you know if you just happen to need Port cracklins and Lotto tickets and you know a giant twenty four ounce can of beer. Well that's okay too that's it. So you just summed it up right there. I mean it may not be everybody's idea of you know what should be filling food deserts. But it's what people want they know their audience and your style in this is so distinctive. You've got this think of it as sort sort of lovingly ironic. Because you are you are kind of looking at it like this is funny but at the same time you're sympathetic you know I. It is written totally with love and appreciation running any businesses. Hard much. Less trying to figure out what anybody's going to need on a on an impulse basis hum by I just I love the idea of juxtaposition and you'll go in one place and on the same aim shelf. There is a three pack of toothbrushes right next to a candle for Lady of Guadalupe. That makes me laugh and the choices that go into that. It's not meant to poke fun in any regard. It's just this is what we have to sell but it is funny. It is funny to see. The winter beanies next to the the big dill pickles. Michael you know what I am. I am more and more amused more stores I go into you. Go to the cash register and they have you know that's their last chance to get you and invariably we there's energy drink and like Iraq of knives and I'm like okay. You don't really want someone with sharp objects and eventually got to take them out of okay. That's really hilarious. It and just to give people an idea. I can't describe this doll but so I just I want you to read an entry. This is this is called the make you happy food mart but I have to say so the picture you do your own photography as well and the picture it was sort of like make you happy but the happy was kind of like pasted over with another sign or something for a baby. Yes okay so will you read that. Boris sure the first thing he sees you enter wild Irish rose. Fortified wine on a shelf sets the tone donen calibrates the senses plastic tip little and wild cigarillos on the counter patiently. Waiting for Artisanal handcrafted locally sources lending nuclear lavender instant sticks nearby are available for masking the blends in the wild Irish rose. Mismatch sign out front openly. Mocks the concept of curbside brandon giant jars on the counter with pickled sausage and pickled eggs swimming in a kool-aid pink bath next to a crusty eternal slow cooker full of hawks jumbo boiled peanuts open the lid and the legumes in their shells. Look like human cargo. Being smuggled in a ship's bilge snack chips deemed to rap stars. You Bet your boots. I left with a t shirt bag full of them occur. Make you happy damn straight. It made you happy absolutely. I came home with a bag. Full of rap themed potato chips when you say rap theme does not W are a rap star I'm talking about you know little Busey and and and All these great like migos all these great rap stars that are known for for their great artistry And they're pictured on the front. They're not selling chips. They're selling the rap stars and that's the currency in that neighborhood. That is great. So what is that pink stuff. I A half wondered that I used to see them at my local questions. Moving trader had those. Nobody reads ingredients when they're looking at a jar full of pink eggs eggs and sausages. Yeah but it's a leap of faith. Let's put it that way. I have to ask you. Did you try any of this stuff all the stuff like I came home with a bag. Full of rap snacks on my son is twenty. Four years old was thrilled. They just potato chips are just potentials with. They're very well done. They're sorta like crunchy kettle cooked. And they have great flavors in what I what about the ping eggs. Have you not had a pink. I've not I it's like an egg. That just happens to look. There's no difference and it was just it's all preservative Sort of a holding fluid to keep it from going bad. I guess just tasted fine. Yeah you know. And and I I remember growing up in my my grandmother kept jar pig's feet and the refrigerator. You know we land. I mean she she was the she was not. You know what I would call a Foods now by any stretch it was what made her happy. You know the thing about it is if you make anybody sick in your neighborhood and you run a convenience store you're done because word will get got around and no one will shop there It's a pretty delicate relationship But that's all impulse. Nobody goes you know. I have to go to the post office today. I have to to go buy a pair of shoes and I need pickled softening. It's it's just all impulse and you're just feeding your emotions and Lord knows I've I've eaten my feelings more than I care to admit well. was there anything that surprised you. We've all seen those those pink eggs or or pig's it's feet. was there anything that you want to focus on the pink noise. You know what I'm surprised at. How much care goes into what is offered and how? It varies from store to store. If you go to say a convenience store like I wanted to one down in Sort of in the area of parish which is in and South Hillsborough North Manatee County Primoz. List Primoz you go in there. And there's empanadas. That were made by hand. There's Fried Chicken there's fried pork chops and and it looks like Just what you would see the regular hot deli somewhere almost borderline soul food. But that's aimed at all the people who work in the fields and the agricultural areas down there because that's sort of near a lot of tomato fields and whatever agricultural fields You know and and you can go in there and fry I find You know Fried to lobby at some of these places you can find barbecue. Whatever it is that sells is what they they offer? So you know. I'm I'm surprised the variety but also how much care they taken actually making these. was there anything that you love that you thought you know what I could make a special stop back here to pick up this Empanada or whatever it was I I have to say I in the moment I don't go back Only because once you've seen it it's like you you've planted the flag on the moon. It's still going to be the moon. You might find some unique things here and there but I I go on a canvas was pretty heavily. Invariably I wind up leaving with a t shirt bag. Full of Mementos as it were. You know I've got.

"On. There's one thing. That's kinda disturbing a girl that was nineteen through a balcony off a high rise type thing in Canada. I don't know if you guys saw that video yet here. He didn't throw the balcony off the ball. My gosh. I'm sorry. Wow. That was so. I think. Yeah. That would be a little more interesting than Wisconsin of clicks, people think they're looking at something. But it's pretty disturbing. I don't know who recorded it. But it was just not. I would definitely go look at it. It's awful human being. Oh my gosh. Who awful human beings one sat there and record? It didn't do anything. But you're right. That happens today. In the first thing, you do is not go to hell or do anything. Like that. The first thing you do is grab your phone but getting the video crowded highway right below. So I mean that kills somebody. If and other people on the road, potentially cause of the accident, even if you didn't land on somebody that would definitely cause like a pile up or something if a chair, and then you know, I it was just I saw yesterday on social media. And then they were actually looking for her ever leave yesterday. And it's good to note that they actually caught her the rat sledge. This rat tried to go sledding with some people. I don't know exactly what it was trying to do. But it's really funny videos. That's actually Aaron last week up in Vail, Colorado. Leading would my buddy Ben the NAS Pinera has a double bread bowl now. So. Go check that out because it looks super good. How did the energy drinks ROY Nagai's life? He has rotting teeth right now pretty much all then he bit into an apple and his two frontier came off. I believe or layer of it came off had forty five energy drinks a week breakfast. First before you look at this one was this guy in West Virginia. Always in England. But I can tell you West Virginia people do have trouble their teeth shining example. Teeth are beautiful. Yeah. There's a lot to check out on there. So definitely go do that. And again, it's WFL a news dot com slash a EMT. We've got a couple of things today in history. I got a mention here. One of them. First of all today is the sixty four th birthday of WFL a TV on this date in nineteen fifty five they signed on for their first broadcast, and they were not the first station, and that was W S U N in Saint Petersburg UHF station, then a channel thirty eight which was on the air from nineteen Fifty-three, delete your I got here in one thousand nine hundred seventy. But then. WFL ATV was the second TV station here, and then W T V T came on the air. Just a couple of months later, April. First in nineteen fifty five and then W F T S channel twenty eight came on in nineteen Eighty-one ABC station. And don't have ten in there off to check ten out. But anyway, the other big deal on this date, and I say big deal because we were the ones that brought it about it was initially is actually tomorrow in history February fifteenth, I'm not going to be here side tell about it today. But the buccaneers became the official name of the Tampa Bay NFL franchise. And bring that up because we had the contest to name the NFL team. And we had people send in suggestions. And we got all kinds of names and everything from Mariners two boatmen and ever. I wish I'd saved some of those. I mean, they're crazy. But we let each of the we we brought in three sports writers, Tom McEwan being one who is very well known back then from the Tampa Tribune and David Alphonso from the old Clearwater sun. And I've forgotten the name of the guy from the Saint Pete evening independent. We let them make top ten list of what their favorite names were when they went through all of them, and she had three lists of ten which I'd given anything to save those and the only name that appeared twice was buccaneers. It was number one on Tom McEwan socialist, which gave it ten points. And it was number ten on David Alfonso's list, which gave it eleven points. So at one by one by one point, and you don't have that list anymore. Now, I didn't save the list get anything for that. I would love to have those. I'm gonna find that list. Would be mighty happy about it. But I don't think those lists are out there anymore. But we were the ones that name the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. But you know, what I find ironical? What's that today is a day? We give our heart out to everybody. Right because it's Valentine's Day, you give your heart to someone. Yeah. It's also national organ donor day. What does that mean? Today, man, cutting out Oregon, you your part, you give your spleen to some leaving my spleen out of your you. Give your liver to someone epi liberty happy liver day, actually, the hard thing a hard end really shape that way, get a real picture of a heart. That's not that who was the first person to draw the fake heart. I don't know. Got pretty rich. I guess there is a there is some behind that of looked that up before. I can't remember what it is. Well, check it out. Look it up again, Google it's seven twenty nine on AM Tampa Bay radio LA now streaming on your Emma's on echo and over two thousand devices via the iheartradio. Whoa..

A little past that. But Tampa times was around that was still around when I came here for longtime after I came here, we used to have a lot more newspapers. Here. We had the Tampa Tribune was the morning paper in Tampa. And the Tampa times was the afternoon paper in Tampa. And then in Saint Petersburg. It was the let's see Saint Petersburg times was the morning paper and the evening independent was the afternoon paper. I'd almost forgotten about that. Yeah. The evening independent, and you had the Clearwater sun. Which was a morning paper. I remember there. Yeah. They I remember having we named the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. And at our listeners all send in suggestions for names. And they're all kinds of the the pelicans, or whatever I mean, there are thousands of names that were suggested, and we had the people who decided on it was a reporter from the evening independent and Tom McEwen from the Tampa Tribune sports editor and then a forgotten his name David somebody who was David Alphonso with the Clearwater sun. And they were the ones who picked the name buccaneers way back then. Anyway, we're coming up on seven fifteen on AM Tampa Bay and time to check in here..

"Own personal experience theme. Of course, this week's theme being side of of comedy. We both got a plethora of tales to tell. What would you say was the time when you realize? I this is really what I'm doing for the rest of my life. Was it like from the beginning? Or was there a turning point where you were like, this is it I'm not gonna dry other shit. I would say from the beginning always loved it. But I didn't. Really think about it as an occupation right until I graduated from college. Where do you go to school, Florida? Am shots out pal. Pow pow pow. Lando to see was going on the plastic. Been drunk on. And every now. Oh, seven doctor Koop size school DP. Wow. So I got in the comedy. So rewind nineteen years old. I get arrested for stealing credit cards and buying blue jeans. That was my hustle like everybody had a hustle on campus on people could have some people's cell. We I was the closed, dude. If you need to close just hit me up. I go, you know, that's we might a mall and get that boost. So what was your inflation rate? All fifty percent. So I would charge you fifty percent of sticker price. Nice for a pair. Tommy James is hundred. I'm saying you will coming up dollars for nothing. That was guessing your freedom. Yeah. But you know. So I did a recipe for it. I think I'm going to prison and six months into my sentencing. I started doing stand up to deal with the depression of knowing that I'm going to prison. I get the sentencing and I get probation and I keep doing comedy. They didn't put you on a chain gang. They didn't. And you know, this is Florida where you facing years. Mandatory ain't no reason but good God that I didn't get jail. Really no clue to this day. Can't tell you. I didn't go to prison. My mom who is also a family grad, my father who was a legacy. My father's a former family, professor. Sheets. So that's what journalism. My dad was deep often journalism. My dad was like a reporter in the civil rights movement. He was on the first black radio station. Chicago, Debbie veal in my father explaining everything if you any pitcher you can find a doctor king a guaranteed to rows behind him as my father with a record in a note pet if it went down and decisions and seventies. My daddy was imbedded in Vietnam the whole lot. So my father was on that struggle ship. My mom was the same way. My mom is thirty years professor at a black college Birmingham is college. And before that she was the first black integrating class to delta state university of Mississippi. So they so some shit starters in my family. That's definitely been about that life. Yeah. And so that leverages the only thing that didn't get me expelled from Florida and Emma? God bless him for not doing it. Because I got back in school kept doing comedy and made the dean's list rested away. And then when I graduated. I've been doing comedy this point two and a half years in while. I was in school. Yeah. Never took internship than when I got out with my journalism degree. I couldn't get a fucking job. 'cause you'd never set yourself up to get a job in. But I never thought about it. We're never going guy. Did you do that? But I got gigs gigs. If I go to the Tampa Tribune to proofread the sports page every night. I can't do these kids gigs that only thing that I know for sure keep me out of being in a dark place emotionally. And at that point. I was too scared to quit doing comedy because I was more frayed of what my life would be without it. So I gotta keep doing comedy. So when I graduated I looked at the the two job offers.

And also, Linda McEwen who is having a birthday wanted to mention those things her couple of weeks ago. All you did at the bucks game. Oh, yeah. Sheesh. It's all the bucks games used to go with her husband. Tom course covered those game as she should be. She's treated like royalty there because she is royalty. Oh, you better believe it. Yeah. Tom mcewen's? Well, the widow Joseph Citra rotisserie got a sawed on messenger. And it was Jeff you'll like this talking about the guy that had two syringes and everything up his rear in. Of course, I love that. Well, if we said something about in his rectum and shit throw says damn near killed in rectum damn near killed Jovita. By the way, if you go to our Twitter at nine seventy WFL, we have a Twitter poll up right now. Are you a Tampa are Tanzanian or ten pain yo and on Twitter, we were called out by of course. Dennis Joyce from the Tampa Bay times, we mentioned Paul Guzzo that it was his article didn't mention it was the Tampa Bay times. I'm sorry. Yeah. Debutante times Tampa Bay times. Times have they it was Tampa Tribune, wouldn't it? Does still he usually writes in the Tampa Tribune, by the way, that's delivered. As part of the Tampa Bay times. So there take that two times. Got it. Hey, go down south. You know, if you drive down Bayshore now, they've already got the stands up and everything for Gasparilla saw that and..

"About shutting down the government, and they say all nonessential government offices will be closed, but essential ones will be left open. And he says if we have nonessential offices if they are essential. Why do we have them in the first place? And he says think bureaucratic. A Toshiba's app. Toshiba's? I'm not even familiar with that word, but. But he's right. You're gonna close non essential offices. If there are government offices that artists sensual, why don't we get rid of them? Got gotta suck to be told your non-essential worker. Yeah. You got off today because you're a non essential worker. But didn't you say they get paid anyway? And get paid anyway. I'd love to be non essential. What do you wanted to be? When you grow up a little boy, I wanna be a non essential workers get laid off and get paid your job means nothing. Yeah. Nonessential? That's very valid point. That Lionel makes why do we have nonessential workers you're very insignificant as a worker? Let's go to John in Tampa. Who's got something more substantive to offer right now. I'm sure what do you think? John. Yes, sir. Thanks for taking my call. Yup. I'm just wondering I'm just wondering what the difference between the Russian Facebook ads and the democrat Republican ad. That's all of them are trying to convince us to who to vote for. That's a very valid point. And I've wondered that all along how they feel that the Russians impacted the election by being on social media. Because again, the Democrats were on their the Republicans were on their the independence were on there. They were all trying to convince people to vote a certain way and the Russians were probably throwing out information leading both ways. But the that's why I asked Michael Bauer the question earlier, and you can hear that on podcast, by the way later on if you're the nine seventy WFL dot com. But what would the connection be between President Trump and the Russians as far as how that information was dispersed? Did he ask them to do it? Was there a deal done? If there is that connection. Yeah. That's something to look. Into but anything other than that. This is what the Russians did for both sides. Yeah. It's mean, a took our uranium and gave big money big bucks to Bill Clinton. I mean that to me would seem to have been more gracious thing to happen. But that was totally ignored by coma. In fact, Komi had all kinds of things that still blew my mind. Lace reports say they were fluency in the black people. Yeah. Didn't isn't he in their jobless reports the best it's ever been. So apparently that it was the truth them trying to sway things the truth. You're right. It worked out very well. Yeah. Because they've got the lowest black unemployment rate. They've had ever. I think I know it's very very low. It has been since Trump came into office. By the way, we're trying to get hold of what's the ones name for tabby business. Ashley gerbo Kritzinger. We'll get her in a little while a little later on here this morning gonna wake her up too early. But she had a good story in the Tampa Bay business journal. About how the widow of the Poynter institute founder Nelson Poynter is suing the parent company of the Tampa Bay times saying that they own the trust the pointer trust nearly seven point eight million dollars after defaulting on a promissory, note and. It goes on to talk about all the money, they lent them. And this all happened right before the times announced its acquisition of the Tampa Tribune, according to the lawsuit, and but going beyond that we've been told that they're going to be laying off people like crazy at the Tampa Bay times. And I was with Ernest Hooper last week in recording for daytime on channel eight and we were talking about what's happening yet the times after that. And he was saying because he's been doing several columns he replaced couple of other columnists that were let go. And he was saying he's going to go back to doing his one Monday column that he's done for years and years and years, and he's going to be working in sports and the same thing John Romano is being removed as a columnist regular columnist and move to the sports department. Tom Jones was taken out of the sports department after several decades couple of decades at least and he's been moved over the Poynter institute. So a lot of big things are happening. And I'm guessing the fact that they just laid off. Let's see how many I think it was about sixteen or so. Yes, sixteen were laid off from the newsroom, I'm assuming this is the slow, but gradual demise of the Tampa Bay times because why are dying all over the country. It's crazy to see this. We've been seeing for years now Tom Jones the guy has been there for years. And, you know, even though I don't agree with everything is put out there, a really smart guy. And I wonder how that went down how he ended up at the Poynter institute. I don't know. Yeah. I loved his columns up until he started pushing the.

"Yeah. Yeah. Second third. That's right. And that kind of the playoff change, which we were still in it. We are still you said you said that defense while I was getting ready to say I feel like we're not in it anymore. I mean, that's I build a clai we're the bottom of our division. And we're what three games behind New Orleans now. New Orleans is six or seven in one and we're three and five or three and five were five years behind. Oh, no, no three and seven is four four. Getting on pretty because I can't do math. Good thing you're pretty because that's how I like it. Marry you for your. Condition. Yes. Oh, man. I think man gosh. This is looking bad is look at that. But here's the thing. We're we say the defense got to step it up. They just got to get tough. Now. That's something all these guys know there. I mean these aren't hired softy and these guys have been playing football their whole lives. They're tough guys. They're just not coach to being tough. It's a culture there is not a not a tough culture. And so that's something that could change really really fast like between now and the. Yeah. So what do you do go in? There is smack Cup. Cousin face and tell him to step it up. Do you think that would cause any locker room friction? Oh, these guys want this. He's got these are these are warriors their soldiers. They wanna be tough. They don't want to be trailing. They don't wanna lose. They don't wanna get run over top of they want to knock people out. They want to win. So you just unleash. Mm right now. We've got a least we're we're we're we're restraining them with the schemes and the data and all that just let him play football to tell tell them tell them go out there and get some personal fouls. I want you tackling so hard you get personal fouls. You know, what I saw a headline. I forget who posted those it was actually a picture of a newspaper in Tampa. And it was a quote, I think it was the Tampa Tribune. It was a quote from Ryan Fitzpatrick that said he does his best basically when he isn't doing what the coaches are telling him kind of when a he's going off the script making his own plays. You you kinda go on your instincts. Right. Right. Yeah. And these guys they're instinct isn't didn't yarn. And we haven't had them in a long time. The last time I can think of it is when we had levonne Tae on Janas defense. Yeah. That was when we. We had a tough day. It was a land of defense are two thousand two thousand twelve thirteen. No two thousand twelve I would say that. That's what we had the the twelfth best run stopping defense in the league are secondary was getting history in history. Yeah. R s win Levada, Dave. And all that we had the tackles for loss stats, which was like thirty over the net the second place team. Yeah. The Lante David was killing it. Right. And that's what I'm saying Lante, David. So last time, then he really flourish. And then lovey came in and hit really do anything announcer spin it, and he hasn't really low Fonte is an instinct, I you like you listen to him talk. And he doesn't really come across. Like a rope. He's not a clipboard guy. That's a nice way to put in. Hey, we'd love you. He looks like a guy that just wants to hit other guy. And this what you want on defense. Exactly. And that's why he is so good. But they've got a leash on him. I was not calling him stupid. South. So all right. We got to do that who we got next week. I don't even want to think about it..

Worked in sports radio here in the market as well. Yep. And the other event that's taking place tomorrow night. The Tampa the sports club of Tampa Bay. I've talked about this before if you enjoy sports in the bay area. This is a group you ought to be joining and they're having a meeting Wednesday night, and it's going to be at the Tampa club, which is on top of the Bank of America building. You've got a fantastic view of all over the bay area there, and the speaker is going to be Joe Henderson who's Tampa Bay times. Correspondent those column in actually in the Tampa Tribune section of it. But he's been around. He was covering for the Tribune back when I was broadcasting USF basketball, we used to go on the road together. And all that stuff like that. Because that was the only major sport in town, then they.

You know, I can. I can tweet a bowl matchup and somebody's gonna fire back at me about something. So I. I don't read comments that much anymore. You know, I when I worked at the Tampa Tribune it, I would anytime somebody would Email me, I would always make a point that Email them back. I try to. I try to continue doing that. You know, people take the time to send you an Email on you an idiot, and that's when you, whatever. If they take the time to send an Email, I'll send him off, sent him a response. Obviously, on Twitter on Facebook, it just it. It flashed flows through so fast, especially on a story like this. I, I can't remember who mentioned it, but they said, do your your Twitter mentions? It looks like it's looks like coins falling out of a slot machine right now. So I can't really. I can't really look at them all if there's a lot of negative out there. Positive. I can't see it. All I know is the people that I respect the most and his opinions. I you the most of or or other people. In the media that I've known for twenty or thirty years, and then friends and family. And all I know is is the response that I've, I've heard from them and it's all been very positive. And basically I've been overwhelmed. I can't say that enough overwhelmed by other journalists reaching out and saying what a great job. This is, you know, journalism is still alive, tremendous reporting, and I think of all the all the different things that have been from other reporters media. I literally have only seen one negative reaction to me and I don't want to give the person. I don't wanna mention his name 'cause I don't wanna draw attention to him quite frankly, but he questioned on basically, he insinuated I wrote this article because I had been dead against Meyer. 'cause well, I never covered urban Meyer at Florida cover the university, south Florida. So other than that, it's been, you know, ninety nine percent positive from the people that I've are you there. Opinions are. I want to end with this. And had you been on the podcast, just sort of the story has come out? I would have probably done forty minutes with you on this. In April of twenty seventeen..
