Now gabbert held a press conference alongside the Tampa police department and said that he originally thought it was a crew boat, but it turned out to be a helicopter that lost power approaching a nearby airport. The helicopter was carrying a family of three. The youngest kid had just came up and said he was pinned in there and I asked if anybody else was trapped and then I called 9-1-1, tried to remain as calm as possible. But no, it all turned positive. They were healthy. And then he detailed the rescue. I got two on my jet ski, my brother's got one. The pilot was still in the water, and that was when you guys pulled up and I dragged him a little bit towards the boat, and he got on and luckily enough we were probably 250 meters from the beach. So we got him to the beach. The fire department was there every day was there and the rest is rush's history. And then he gave all the credit to the police and fire department and says that he and his brothers just so happened to be at the right place at the right time. Originally it was just a Thursday evening jet skiing adventure with his brothers, but for former forty-niners quarterback Blaine gabbert, who's now with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, a tour around the Yoko Lok club turned into a rescue mission for people who are in a helicopter that crashed in the water nearby and gabbert alongside the Tampa police department held a press conference earlier today. I vaguely remember hearing a faint noise, and so we turned around, left the yacht club, and I just remember looking to the west and seeing it almost looked like a crew boat in the water that had broken up into about four pieces. And I vaguely remember seeing like two yellow life jackets. So I was like, all right, we gotta go check this out. And what appeared to be the crew boat ended up being a helicopter that lost power while approaching the nearby airport, the helicopter was carrying a family of three along with the pilot. Tampa police chief resigns after dodging traffic ticket
"The chief of police in Tampa Florida has resigned her position. Accused of abusing her authority after a traffic stop in a golf cart last month. According to the conversation on a pinellas county deputy's body cam video. On November 12 he pulls over Kevin O'Connor, who's the husband of the temple police chief. We went to the club. It was closed, so we went over and picked up some. Is your camera on? Who knows? I left the police chief in Tampa. Mario Connor asks the deputy. Hoping that you just let us go tonight. Oh, okay. Say thank each other for their police service and the O'Connor's drive off. But the Tampa police department launched an internal affairs review and determined that Mario O'Connor violated department policy using her position to avoid a ticket. The mayor who used to serve as the city's police chief said O'Connor failed to abide by ethical standards and failed to lead by example. Tall, and the difference between the two is a five story building. And these guys have to get towed out by jet skis. How close are those rocks and the cliff to where they are surfing? That's what that's another thing that I'm interested by that. Nobody ever just ends up thrown right onto those rocks because it looks when they shoot. When you see the pictures. It looks like the right there. I mean, the pictures that they take from that tower up on top. It actually looks like the wave is going to crash over the whole entire tower. That's up on a little mountain, so that place is beautiful and the people that that that surf those big waves It is, uh, you must really love doing it because you're willing to risk it all for a great wave. It's visually stimulating. If you're bored this weekend or even tonight, and you just want to look at something really all inspiring and pretty While at the same time marveling at the daredevil is, um, if that's even a word of these guys and ladies, by the way, Uh, it's well worth the watch. It didn't exactly finish like I thought it would. But I think the message that they send home in the last 10 minutes or so is pretty outstanding. Which point in time. Mr Olsen's wife. Now widow put her hand on his chest to kind of hold him back. Mr Reeves allege that something was thrown at him. Was that the phone? Is that what they said? Or try to point out in the video that he threw the phone? Adam? I believe so. And at that point in time Mr Reeves pulled his weapon. Shot through Nicole Olson's hand. And through chattel sins, chest. And killed him. And that was seven years ago. Now the reason I brought it up today was because They're opening up in that movie Theater, The Grove Theater Wesley Chapel this Friday. You could look of states like Florida who have been the most open of out of all the states and had the least covert to deal with and that doesn't get discussed. It isn't getting, you know, wrapped into their fearmongering about what's coming. We're told all this was coming, but it never never does. It's not as bad as they say it is. "There's one thing that you will notice primarily above all in these crowds. There's not a person over 30. I mean, if you look at these pictures, you can spot a person over the age of 30 years old and he's in these pictures. So the very basic notion that this poses like a massive health risk to the United States because a bunch of 25 year olds are walking around without masks. 25 girls were not dying of Corbett. So unless they're going on in there, infecting Granny, This really is not a huge issue, frankly, because again 25 year olds not knowing of covet. In New Jersey, right, very down on them since the beginning of pandemic, and I think there's some justifications the idea that if you're getting together in close spaces without masks, and then you are transmitting the virus had high rates that has to do with personal behavior. But the media completely ignore that when it comes to people who are also getting the virus and disproportionate rates at no point have. They suggested, for example, that disproportionate rates of Cove it in the black community in New York, which is a thing that maybe that has to do with personal behavior as well. It's their personal behavior or systemic racism for each But the way that it works is if a bunch of Jews get in New York that is called personal behavior and a bunch of black folks get in New York. Then it is all about systemic. Racism is the way that this works well, Now you have The New York Times justifying black people refusing to get the vaccine. Now, If this were a bunch of white people refusing to get the vaccine, it would be about Cuban on and trump support, right? But Charles blow over The New York Times has an entire piece about why it is that many black Americans are not getting the vaccine and he's attempting to justify or excuse it. Which is crazy, Okay, Because the people who need the vaccine the most presumably are the people who are getting it at the highest rates. This is what we have been told that the people getting it. Getting it at the highest rates are people of color in the United States. So why would you be making excuses for bill Opting out of that? That's that's exactly. This is like the fifth editorial He says that black Americans are justified in not getting the vaccine because they don't trust the government. Which is a weird way for that. That's weird argument given the Black Americans are voting in the 92 8 clip for a party that wants to expand the size scope in reach of government. Tampa Bay I know one thing you've been focused on is our elderly community here in the Tampa Bay area what steps are being taken to make sure they're protected as they're the most at risk for the most severe symptoms from this disease yes without a doubt so yesterday we went to all of the nursing homes and assisted living facilities there's eighty eight in the city within the city of Tampa and we had personnel from the city of Tampa from city of Tampa code enforcement Tampa fire rescue in the Tampa police department visit each one of those facilities and provide them with the information from the CDC about monitoring visitors if they're allowing those jurors monitoring for when they come in to make sure that they don't have any signs or symptoms of fever shortness of breath coughing those types of things and then also the simple steps that they could take to keep all of their residents say the majority of these have been employed it was more of a reminder than anything else but we also wanted to have that face to face connection with the the supervisors in each of these locations so that they have that point of contact if they had any questions or any concerns whatsoever that they'd be able to reach out to the city of Tampa and and get those questions answered those concerns taken care of we're talking to Tampa mayor Jane castor about Tampa's corona virus preparations when it comes to look at a closing schools or canceling events things like that that we're seeing in other cities across the country how does that decision making process work is that up to you is that up to the governor is that up to you health officials at the federal level talk a little bit about that well not at the federal level clearly the governor you know it is declared state of emergency and and he can make decisions for the state but most of the decisions are being made locally and that's something that you know I have to wait two things one is that the health and safety of our citizens which is paramount but I also have to balance that with our economy as well and think about those individuals that count on these events and these conferences and so forth so the health and safety will always of our citizens will always win out but I also have to make those other considerations and ensure that we're not canceling events unnecessarily and you know there's no nobody has a crystal ball but I will always make decisions that are in the best interests of our citizens the NC double a tournament obviously March madness now to be limited in terms of who can attend those games going to be basically essential personnel some family members people like that when it comes to St Patrick's day we know New York and Chicago New York and Chicago are the latest to cancel their parades what's the St Patrick's day situation for Tampa are you still on for now I don't intend to cancel that unless there's changes in the next you know the next day or two by Friday and clearly that's a local event and so I have the the liberty of waiting till the last minute if you know of other cases arise in our community then that's clearly something that that I would consider but also you have to look at these events to if they're bringing individuals from out of state or individuals you know that are coming in on flight into our city the St Patrick's day parade is a very a very local of that and small in size compared to events in Chicago and New York City but I was on a phone call just an hour ago with a number of individuals here in the city of Tampa that other officials and also individuals that are handling these large events including our convention center and talking about those conventions as conferences that are coming some of the hockey game there decided a couple of cities have decided yeah the play those games without stands and so that's clearly an issue that the lightning are looking at very very closely but it's a it's a very delicate balance but again the health and safety of the citizens well will be
