"This is a circus. I'm the ringmaster of the circus. Now I have a screener, Tracy, who's so wonderful, she may be the best hire I've ever. I thought Eric Hansen was the best hire. Then I thought Yuri was the best tire that I thought Derek was the best hire. Tracy puts them all to shame. Because she's this feisty lady, she's the lady you reach when you call 806 5 5 Mike. And we hired her because we needed a screener in our Tampa studios. And we put out an all points bulletin, we'd love to have somebody scream who knows the show who gets the show who likes the show and I interviewed her and she had this long career with the Tampa Bay times. The Great Seed Panic of 2020

"Just start from the very very beginning like set me in time Where should we start law. Summer people might be aware there. A story that bubbled in the media for a couple of weeks in the summer of twenty twenty writer. Chris heath noticed a strange national news story. It has been happening all across the nation including right here in our area is in most people's newspapers and it was on tv all over the place. What's behind this rather odd phenomenon. People across the country are getting unsolicited packages. Listen to this new idea where it came from. I didn't order it. People have been receiving mysterious packages that they did not order people. All over america started receiving. These completely baffling packages. They appear to have chinese writing on some of them. Seen here from the tampa bay times are usually marked with chinese characters and incite were packets of c- seen called mystery seeds and they have appeared in mailboxes and more than two dozen states. "We are in a difficult, difficult time. We're getting ready for a Democrat parties insistence that in the final nine days of the Trump presidency, he be impeached. Or removed. Everybody from the A. C l U to the Tampa Bay Times editorial board thinks it's a lousy idea. But of course, there is an a Democrat. Really willing to admit publicly publicly what they're thinking private privately, and it is a huge conflict. It has to be a gigantic Um, problem. For people. Who recognized That if they're coming for President Trump today They'll be coming for president whoever some other day The Tampa Bay Times is hardly a conservative newspaper. And they're getting a lot of flak. For an editorial over the weekend. That reads impeaching President Trump would be a mistake. The editorial board of the Tampa Bay Times again, not Conservative paper at all. The Tampa Bay Times editorial board says Bite will be inaugurated January, 20th and Democrats will control the White House in both chambers of Congress. But apparently that's not enough. House Speaker Pelosi and Senate Democratic leader Schumer were sprinting to remove the president from office in his final few days. How does it matter? Democrats threatened to fast track another impeachment proceeding. The vice president, Pence refused to invoke a never used clause. In the 25th amendment that allows the vice president and cabinet to oust a president on the grounds he is unfit. Even if Pence had the grit and the time to forge an alliance with the Cabinet, The Tampa Bay Times asks, How would that dial back the chaos? Same for impeachment. Democrats are hopelessly cocooned in a bubble if they think the majority of Americans want to endure a political show trial over Trump, especially now that he's packing his golf clubs. The editorial board of the Tampa Bay Times says on November 3rd Americans voted for a fresh start. They want less petty political sparring and more substantive discussions on how to move forward the last thing The exhausted nation needs is for congressional Democrats to overplay their hands and continue a pointless, immovable war with the outgoing president. Trump is who he is. Neither Democrats nor his supporters will significantly reshape his image or legacy over the coming 12 days. It's certainly when that was written, it was 12 days. Now it's nine. Our focus should be on the longer arc, the more important and difficult task Of rebuilding the fabric of a nation that over years not only this week was moved to turn on itself. All right. I'm gonna throw this out. Simply two people who believe that impeachment proceedings should begin. Because now is the time. Frankly, it's always my mantra, but I'll reiterate it today. When you disagree with me. I like to put you to the top of the line. Let's just get all callers for a few moments here in the relief factor dot com studios as we kick off a very difficult week. It's Monday, January 11th 2021 in a time in our nation's history, that is unprecedented. We are seeing things that we've never seen before. More and more videos being released of the attack on the capital one more horrific than the other. Every single last one of those people should be arrested and go to jail. Every last one of them. I don't care if you were putting your feet up on Nancy Pelosi's table or banging down doors or assaulting police officers and trying to I don't know, kidnap people with your stupid zip ties. Every last one of them should be arrested. And go to jail. And be accountable for the damage that they've done. Their damage was a lot worse than just breaking. Breaking things and hurting people. They damaged this country. Immeasurably. Immeasurably. And the damage is going to take many, many years to recover from. We all know that normal people know that Americans know that people who love this country know that so I want to start With people who are listening to me who believe that Pelosi and Schumer All right. I'm calling for the impeachment of the president now. Because they're doing that now. Right now. They want that process to start. What you didn't remember when the Senate returns to session.

"The Tampa Bay Times today, when they gave Kevin Cash, the manager of the raised the opportunity to kind of say. Mayor Copa My fault. They screwed up. I do it differently if I could do it over again. Do double down. And said he'd do the exact same thing again. Who? That to me? Is not only insane. It's stupid, but I mean in. You can only go by what you know in that moment, and I don't know a lot about a lot of things specifically baseball, but it seems as if this analytics method and following the numbers is what they have done the entire season getting them to that point, So it's kind of like, you know, leaving with the girl that you took to the dancer. Whatever that analogy is If that got you that far, why would in that moment you stray away from everything that got you there and then and then acknowledge that like to me right doing it this way. Makes the makes the pain go away a little bit, because at least you know you're dealing with a man who believes in what he's doing. Doesn't he sound like a big pussy? If he comes out the next day he goes. Oh, I'm so sorry. I don't run Oh, Tampa Bay. Forgive me. No, he doesn't have to say it like that. Especially not like that. But he could go. Listen. I got to where I am exactly what you said. I got to where I am using analytics. But obviously sometimes you have to go with your gut. And this is a classic case of I should have done something differently. The article is called for Ray's Kevin Cash a restless night. And the same decision. It was agonizing, he told the Tampa Bay Times before Wednesday's flight home from Dallas. A decision was agonizing loss was agonizing, the different thoughts that run through your mind the what ifs a really challenging Was it a mistake? No, I don't think it was a mistake. That is stupid. And I'm not trying to be hardheaded, he said. I was committed and felt good about the decision. I just hate the outcome. The outcome happened because of your stupid decision. Like I was ready today to go. You know what? We all make mistakes. We all screw up. It's what we do afterwards that determines our character. And this bonehead who's probably a very nice man to say you do it again. What When you say you do it again. Does that mean knowing what knowing what would happen? I do it again because that doesn't make sense. He's saying if I was back in that situation in that moment, I felt I did the right thing. Well, you obviously did well and Andy, don't you want? Don't you want a leader that's going to be sure of themselves and make decisions that they have faith in? I want a leader who goes. Oh, that didn't work that time. I'm going to try something different next time. I don't want a leader goes. Hey, guys, go run through that wall with just your heads smashing against it. Yes, sir. That didn't work, sir. My head is bleeding. Um, Hey, I got an idea. Go run through that wall with just her head, No helmet, but under but under this circle, I feel like when you say something like that. It's like you're talking about doing it without knowing the outcome. So in your analogy, it would be like if they ran through the wall. But you never knew that their heads got bloody there that they got hurt. I mean, if you don't know what's on the other side of it, he's still was doing what he thought was right. 77 579 to 5 to grab alive. Who are you? You guys. It's Tony. Hey, guys. Hey, I Drew you put you said I'm with you. Drew John. You said some great things. I gotta tell you guys, I'm not to blow my head up. But I am pretty much an expert on baseball. This was the worst possible. In fact, he did exactly what you shouldn't do. Writers know, just there's no justification. Mookie Betts was the batter. He cannot hit lefties. It was they were talking about that Blake Snell was pitching the best game of his life. He was on fire. You don't touch a picture like that. We're not discussing whether or not the decision was right or wrong. We're discussing him, saying That he stands by the decision. He's wrong. He went from being He went from being one of my favorite managers on my diehard race, and you guys, I I lost sleep over this, too. I almost think he's to get fired. There's something wrong with what happened. Well, it it blows. My mind might not be his fall. It blows my mind. But how could he do that? Knowing the Rays You know so much about baseball and five people are in my living room him out all five of us, But no. You know what? Here's the thing. I mean, you could like through Analytics. You could say the right quote unquote thing to do there is to take out Blakes now. Don't let the hitters get a third. Look at him. Whatever. But To know that you did that. And it was very unpopular. And then you lost the game to say afterwards I do it again. You're a moron. Like like, Like what? You frigging kidding me? You do it again. You take the ball out of Blake smells hands when he's having a vintage 2018 Blake Snell Cy Young performance. You are a bonehead. Best game ever. He was on pace for He is on fire, and the Dodgers can hit lefties. It doesn't and Nick Anderson when he came in, he has been horrible. And they knew that and they brought him in a night knew what the next case would be. I didn't watch Kevin cash because I was so upset. I envisioned him in my mind. And you just let me know I didn't know about this. What did you just say? I invented him getting on the year after the game and saying I made a mistake. All right? Learned he did now I learned he didn't I lost all respect. Love you guys. I love you, buddy. Take that cash to live alone. Hey, what's going on, guys? Every what's up, dude? Not much. I'm off topic that couldn't crawl in earlier. When you guys were talking about the old days in your face do do you remember when we got into it back, then went back and forth. I don't ended up yelling. Yeah, we went back and forth yelling and you falling hung up on me And he said Ah, If you want to make up the rules, get your own day and show us what you were yelling at each other about every photo. I could find it. Well, it was. It was a topic on You know, you know, no one likes it our word anymore. And But back then I think you were thrown. You were saying, like homo with something like that? I was trying to make the comparison. Because you say, you know, I don't mean it like that, and I was like, Well, it's not the same thing and we went back and forth and you hung up on me. And you know, In retrospect, you were probably right ever. I was much like Kevin cash in those days. And I was unable and unwilling to say that I was wrong about stuff when I was wrong about stuff, So you know if you'll forgive me and let me take it back. Take it back Thursday. You're probably right, buddy. That it was all about. You know, I was going to go with the back and forth anyway. So how about descended? Thanks, man. "A 99.1 FM. It's 7 23 on AM Tampa Bay, and we've got Bernie Jack joining us right now. The Republican political analyst for Respect from Bay News nine. And Bernie, where you as shocked as I was to find the Tampa Bay Times didn't have a single word of the story that was Blistering. Everything else yesterday about Hunter, Biden and his connections with Irishman with his dad and all that stuff, no mention of it in the times this morning. Well, First of all, Welcome back, Jack. And no, I'm not not surprised at all. I mean, you're seeing this concerted effort from both the mainstream media as well as The tech giant's the big tech to censor the story, and it's really a shame because this is the kind of stuff that they were accusing President Trump of this kind of double dealing. Which was actually occurring under Thie administration of Barack Obama with Joe Biden's own son, and and here we are having evidence of that. Coming out, and you can guarantee some of the papers and some of the big tech giants are going to be there doing the bidding of the Democrats as we had Ah, few days out from Election Day, is it It's sad, but I'm not surprised Bernie what your takeaways from the long day we saw yesterday once again at Amy Cockney. Barrett's confirmation hearing. I thought she wrapped it up very well. I thought he made a great impression to the American people. She demonstrated a very poised professional. Ah, image. And she clearly articulated her. Ah judicial philosophy of reading the law, as is applying it as it is and not making it up And I think the nation was very well. By her being there at that hearing. It's unfortunate that the Democrats still tried to make this very political. And I don't get political but personal coming after her, in particular with Senator Harris, you know running for VP and Booker T. Never miss an opportunity to basically try to call her racist. Um, And this was very, um, founding and I think I'm gonna have to blow back with the electorate. Especially since she is the mother of two black Children they've adopted. It's kind of hard to call somebody like that arises. Right. Imagine being a mom of a large family and then adopting two Children, two black Children from Haiti and, um, being called a racist. I mean that this is the world we're living in right now. And I hope the American people are seeing through this. And it is the playbook right? It didn't matter who was nominated that was going to be some kind of allegation that they're somehow racially insensitive, Not flat out racist and Leave it to some senators to still do it when, if a mother of black Children well, we're not going to see the the debate that had been scheduled for October, 15th But both candidates are going to be making big appearances tonight, and one's going to be on NBC. That'll be Biden. I think he's on NBC doing an hour and a half. And the president is on ABC, and he's gonna have an hour flip it delegates the other way around Biden on ABC and Trump on NBC. And it'll be interesting to see who draws the most viewers. I know a lot of people are complaining, saying, Why are they going against each other? I wanted to watch him both, but you have to pick your winner. Right. Well, we would have been watching them both. If it wasn't for the commission That changed the rules. You know, in the middle of the game, which I have been consulting the Trump campaign and just saying that it has to be a virtual zoom format debate. The American people would have seen them both tonight on the same stage. But here we are, And so, yeah, it is going to be interesting if it's anything like the rattle you where you have a job by it and attracting about seven people. And you've got the president, you know. Having basically the rock star status before the audience is concerned. I think the ratings will probably reflect what we've been seeing on the in person rallies. Oh, Barney, Thanks for joining us. "Next question. Diana Neuros Tampa Bay Times. Ryan. When did you know you were going to be able to play and how would you feel getting into this game? Probably confirmed this morning it morning skate. You know, you guys did a great job. All guys that have jumped in and played starting in Columbus, with four words that have come in and On the back end here the last four games, we switched to 7 11. It's credits everybody staying on their toes. It's sometimes it's not easy for a D group there to kind of stand. And flow of things. You're not playing with the same guy, maybe every time but No. I felt so good. It was great that we were, you know, getting really hard and forwards are working for us kept our game as simple as we could in the back end. It's a great feeling, Tio, help the guys win this seriously. All right. That was Ryan McDonagh and Andrei Vasilevskiy. Tampa Bay wins in two overtimes 3 to 2, Let's bring in Keighley Chelios for some thoughts here and boy Caylee. What a roller coaster game. Understanding. You're going to get your best shot from the Bruins. I thought they played really well. Ha Lock was outstanding in nets, but And keep in mind that the Lightning win this game without Steven Stamkos, their captain, and Nikita Kucherov for a good portion of this contest. They also go 11 and seven with Ryan McDonagh back for the first time in a few games. I mean, just that. A really good game by Boston, but I think it got C win by the Tampa Bay Lightning something they certainly can build on. For sure. And I was going to say when you mentioned a lock. It's tough for Boston, especially because I thought Lock had probably the best game of the series, so I'm sure that was rough for him to have Tio To see that out, and not one in overtime. But, yeah, I thought that is a gutsy when you lose Nikita Kuchar off your short forwards got 10 forwards out there different line combinations going out and double overtime. You know everyone's kind of blocking shots trying to take away the middle. It was kind of Little wishy washing in the overtime. There wasn't a ton of offense a ton of dangerous scoring chances either way, and you could tell the lightning really We're just trying to keep things simple. Move the puck from low to high and On the shift. I guess it's easy to say now where Victor Hedman scores the OT winner. You could just feel I think points had a great game also tonight, but you could feel him and point. We're just itching to get that puck on their stick and send it in. But Great job by them just moving the puck up high and Victor Hedman without Nikita Kucherov in the lineup, I thought stepped up and assumes more that responsibility for Creating offense and he was buzzing. You know when everyone else is starting to feel some of the fatigue said, and you could see him and I thought, Brayden point to especially really getting their legs going, making Boston chase them around in the defensive zone, and eventually it's Victor Hedman in that final shift a great shift for him. And point that puts one in and it's agree Siegel that ends up going in the back of the net. So ah, gutsy win for sure Best players have to be your best. And that's why when you look at the lightning lineup when their best players are there really, really tough team to beat. So it says a lot, I think From a fatigue factor not having to drive in the line up for them to be able to do that. Getsem closing thoughts of Caylee when we return..

A 6-year-old girl is now the youngest person to die of COVID

"Many kids are going back to school. Now, a six year old little girl has just become the youngest child to die from this my risk in Florida that according to the Department of Health in Florida Florida also just reported two new cases of Kawasaki Disease in Young. Children. So far, eight children in Florida have died from coronavirus pandemic began according to the Tampa Tampa Bay Times. Clearly, kids aren't virtually immune from corona. As the president has said. That's right. We know that children tend to get less ill than adults do but children do get sick they do become hospitalized, and unfortunately some do die and we actually know based on the statistics so far that the disparities that we're seeing in adults with corona virus are also mirrored in children as well. A city study found that African American children are five times more likely to be hospitalized Latino kids eight times more likely to be hospitalized, and we have to take this disease very seriously. Also recognizing that children may even be silent spreaders of covid nineteen.

"Then walk Teo, a bar area where staff asked him to sit down because he appeared intoxicated and he wasn't wearing shoes. So this guy, this guy's, You know, no shoes. No mask like nothing. Okay. He's not on any of the typical service rules when you go to an establishment This is going to be scarred for life. This is like, emotionally damaging self right here. The guy then hit. He tried to hit a staff member of the restaurant. Eventually, police showed up and he was arrested. Where were the what? It doesn't say here. Where were the parents, right? I mean, maybe they were just I don't have it. This is from the Tampa Bay Times. I don't have it in this story. But you would think you know if the mom or Dad were there like you go upto kid. You grab the kid in your You know, the face mask down, saying you have Corona virus that would lead Tio physical altercation. Right? And most there would be something happening before the police got there exactly. And what is it with some of these people? There was a story a while ago. We did. Where? I think it was out in California. And it was this older woman who coughed on a baby because the mother and the kid were too close to er. They weren't social distancing enough in line store. So she coughs on the little kid on the baby. Yeah, And then we learned that decides this hand less than six feet from you. And the mystery here, but she was a teacher. And she got fired over. Yeah, um good. All right. This This is a crazy story. This is out of Pennsylvania. When a cigar shop clerk told Adam Zebrowski that he had to wear a mask in the shop, The 35 year old refused. Instead, he grabbed to stow G's stormed outside. And then pulled a handgun and shot the clerk. What's the next day corner near his home? The guy allegedly fired a police with an AK 47 sparking a shoot out with the least seven officers that ended with him shot multiple times and under arrest. Oh, my God that has dilated fast. It's it's all being as to wear a face mask inside. Up a store. And then this final wants a local story. Former GNC employee says he was fired over enforcing local mask laws and he's filed a whistle blower lawsuit. Wilfredo Rivera was the manager at GNC on Howard Avenue. In a lawsuit filed in Hillsborough County Circuit Court, Rivera says he was fired after a shop called the chains, corporate offices regarding a confrontation over mask use, Rivera says in his lawsuit. I was told by a district manager of the company didn't want him to enforce face covering laws because stores would lose sales. This is what's happening. You've got all these stores. They say We're going to do a face mask mandate, then they don't want to enforce it because they're afraid of losing sales. Some of them they They say that they're you know, they're worried about their employees in the confrontations. Most for the most part, it's that they don't want to lose sail the person who wants to go in the store without the face mask. And GNC did not respond to emails requesting comment from the Tampa Bay Times. Life. Rivera's attorney told the Times. The chance's actions were form of retaliation because Rivera fought against the company's policy to ignore the masked orders. Employees should be allowed to say. Exam is their safety. If people were coming into the store without masks on, if they feel a certain type of way about it, they have a right to ask someone to put it on. All right, coming up. In a moment. I've got a bunch of Corona virus related stories, not mass story's different stories. I've got a couple of these that we've got to get to. Also, we have some on ly in Florida stories later to get Teo. Some involved the pandemic. Some Don't and Tampa Bay.

Epstein's alleged accomplice Ghislaine Maxwell set to be arraigned next week

"Maxwell. epsteins closest associates. And helped him exploit girls. who were as young as fourteen years old? Mental played a critical role in helping Epstein to identify the friend and groom minor victims for abuse. In some cases, Maxwell participated in the abuse herself. Okay if you thought the Jeffrey Epstein case was over after his apparent suicide in his jail cell last year. Thank again you'll remember that Epstein was the disgraced financier and convicted sex offender who socializes powerful men like Prince Andrew Bill Clinton and Donald Trump on Thursday, his longtime associate d'alene Maxwell, was arrested and charged for allegedly helping Epstein recruit groom, and sexually abused girls as young as fourteen years old. She has denied any wrongdoing. Here's more of what the US attorney from the southern. District of New York had to say about it. Max will and Epstein had a method. Typically. They would befriend these young girls by asking them questions. About their lives, pretending to be taking an interest in them. They would take them to the movies. And treat them to shopping trips. Maxwell would encourage these young girls to accept offers from Epstein to pay for their travel and their education. Making these young victims feel indebted to Jeffrey Epstein. Developing a rapport with Victims Maxwell then try to normalize sexual abuse with a minor victim. Joining me now. Our our sisters in Law Maya Wiley Professor at the new school and NBC legal analysts Barbara Maclead, former US attorney and MSNBC contributor and Joyce vans, also a former US attorney, and also MSNBC contributor so ladies first I love the all female panel, but I will say starting out I used to be a field producer for America's most wanted, and my beat was covering missing and exploited children. On, this and ask you if you could. How important is the role of the person WHO's The enabler? The person who is recruiting these young girls and my experience, that person was integral to abuse cases when I was a journalist covering these types of cases so. What what say you on that? Yeah. You're absolutely right, tiffany. This is this person and the person who plays the role that. Just Lane Maxwell accused of playing is a Predator is just as culpable as. Jeffrey Epstein or anyone else who sexually assaults anybody? The reason it's so critical to have a person play the role maxwell is accused of is because it's manipulation gain. We have three hundred thousand young people in this country estimated to be sex trafficked domestically, and what that means is finding young kids met male and female. We shouldn't pretend that it's just girls here. In this country who are vulnerable, who need help who need the support of a system hasn't provided it. These are young women who were disadvantaged in many different ways, and what the role that Maxwell played was to play on their need. Get them to trust and being a woman who does that is particularly important, because if you're a vulnerable young woman, you're more likely to let your guard down and believe that the person who is offering you help means it so her role. Is Pivotal in enabling essentially the victimization of a lot of young women and girls, and it happens all over the country. One of the things that so important about this arrest is that predators who are powerful too often go unpunished. So something I found interesting reporting coming out of the Tampa. Bay Times highlighted that this case is actually being handled by the Office of Public Corruption Unit so I. WanNa ask you, Barbara. What does that say about the scope of this? Nation is that. Link to anyone in the current administration. Is it possible that Labor Secretary Alexander Costa's entangled in this break it down for those of us who don't necessarily know how the inner workings of the Southern District. It's a really interesting detail. Tiffany of the press release that was put out by this other district of New, York. This is also true when the case was originally just against Jeffrey Epstein that the public corruption unit is involved, that's a unit that has specialized training and expertise to deal with public officials who get charged there a lot of nuanced issues that arise when public officials are involved and so it says to me that this case. Case at least touches in some way public officials. Now as you said we know that Alex Kosta had some involvement with this. We don't know that he is a subject or a target of the investigation, but his involvement in negotiating sweetheart plea deal a number of years ago. With Jeffrey Epstein could be a reason. We also know that Prince. Andrew has been implicated as recently as last month Jeffrey Berman. The former US attorney recently ousted. Ousted was demanding an opportunity to talk with him and Prince Andrew was a dodging that request to be interviewed. It may be that he is only a witness and not a subject or a target, but this no doubt touches some people who have positions of power, and that could explain why the involvement of public corruption unit or could be others as yet unknown I think four names I be looking at immediately or not public. Public officials, but enablers as Maya, was talking about. If you look at the plea non-prosecution agreement that was negotiated with the Southern District of Florida back in two thousand eight. You'll see the names of four individuals that Jeffrey Epstein specifically wanted to protect. Those are very likely to be people who were enablers recruiters I'd want to get to the bottom of their role. and I think that this case is not done being charged yet. I want to turn the Joyce. Barbara brought up Berman and his abrupt firing. Do you see any connection here with what the dismissal of Berman and the FCC case? So, Tiffany I think it's very hard to know. We know that. The Attorney General Poll Day late Friday night effort to usher Berman out the door, unceremoniously in the southern district of New York and that didn't work became public when Berman refused to go along and instead of having the Attorney General's political appointee in place. We ended up with a woman who was. was already in the office, a career employee, a career prosecutor who will hopefully be playing things straight up so it's difficult to make any sort of direct political line there what we do know is that this is the classic type of an indictment that looks like prosecutors aren't done. It looks like they're headed in further direction, and that's something that there could perhaps. Perhaps be powerful. People who are interested in shutting off when I say it's a classic indictment. What I mean is this indictment comes in six counts, and there's a I can't. That's a conspiracy count and the maximum penalty. There is five years, but there are also substantive counts and conspiracy counts of enticement and transportation of minors, and those counts actually range from ten. Ten years to lifetime sentences, and so as MS Maxwell, is forced to confront the potential charges. She's looking out. Does she want to go to prison for the rest of her life, or is she willing to cooperate and become a witness and look at lesser charges? Perhaps five year sentence that I think will give some powerful people some reason to sleep poorly. All right. Am I GONNA? Go back to you. What do you think that gain maxwell will do you anticipate that she? Said they say. It's hard to know. We're looking at a case as both Barbara Jo of a choice have said where there are powerful people connected to Maxwell and Epstein. There's the mysterious death of Jeff Jeffrey Epstein that has still raised questions in people's mind. And I think the question becomes. Where do you feel more vulnerable? Do you feel more vulnerable from law enforcement, or do you feel more vulnerable other ways we don't really know. We're not going to know, but the one thing we do know and I think is important to remember is this is an over for the victims? This is only the beginning of what will be a very deeply difficult. Possibly re traumatizing process that they have really bravely stood up and faced down despite the fact that I don't think there's any illusion for them. They will have to protect themselves from further victimization in the way, in which the defense will be mounted for Maxwell. So if there's any decency at all left in this woman, she will certainly spare them.

"Are so damn rich and owns. You know a majority of Tampa and and it is such a big figure that I think it's always going to get reported. But I think someone like him is like right on the cusp of probably have it be out of control when it comes to people wanting to know like, what the hell's going on in your personal life? Yeah, and I understand a natural curiosity, but I mean, they're so charitable. They pledged 20 million Vinik's We're talking about the on the, uh, Mr Vinick owns a lightning The Vin IX pledged $20 million to the community since Jeff bought the Lightning in 2010 and they've surpassed that amount through the team's community Hero program alone. In the three months since the outbreak of covert 19 Jeff and Penny Vinick has have donated nearly $2 million in relief efforts, including $1 million to metropolitan ministries for food and rent assistance. That's a story to me. I have no interest in their personal life at all. And when they when they announced that they were dated, announce it when it was brought up in the news a couple weeks ago. I didn't talk about it, not because I wanted to censor it. I just don't think it's anybody's business. But I do think it's great. And it is in the Tampa Bay Times today. That they have filed an abatement. To their divorce proceedings as they work on reconcile ing their marriage. A 90 day pause if you will. Now I realize this may fly in the face of what I just said about airing their personal Business if you will. But I just I really hope That they can find a way to work things out. He's 61. She's 57. And they seem like just a wonderful Couple of individuals. And I'm a big fan of people working things out if it could be reconciled. I think that's probably also that feeds directly into the interest on them as well is that I mean, you're talking about a man who is a literal saint. I mean, the amount of stuff that that he has done for charity and done for this area. I think just the way that people look at him. Ah, is kind of such a pillar of the community. When you look at someone like that, you don't think Oh, man, The marriage is falling apart. So I think that's probably the added layer of interest for someone like him. Yeah, I just really, you know, I don't know them. We've talked to Mr Vinick on this show once when Danielle managed Tio spring an interview on him before a lightning playoff game, which is one of my all time favorite radio moments. But I I just really, really hope they can work it out. Okay, Moving on to what? I tease before the break and I got somebody who messaged me on the on the drug lab alive. Facebook page if you are a Trump supporter I want to know how you felt. When he retweeted Parade at the villages. That featured an older gentlemen. Saying the phrase white power repeatedly How does that make you feel? I haven't seen anything from President Trump's since I read a news story and a very credible source. The daily Mail that's gone that Sze gone to many more places. By the way, That story is now out about everywhere. That After they saw that our President Donald Trump had had retweeted the parade. His staff was frantically trying to get ahold of him to tell him to take it down. But he was playing golf and he didn't have his phone on him. Which when you're playing golf, you should leave your phone like that should be your sanctuary. I I looked at mine a couple of times when I golf with Todd right yesterday, but I'm not the damn president. I don't fault the president for not having his phone on him. But from what they said they were scrambling to get in touch with them so they could tell him you've got to take this retweet down. Do you think that he didn't see or hear it? My battle with what really happened because I think there's two There's like two trains of thought when it comes to Donald Trump a lot of people, some people, probably the same thing that there are no accidents with him, Whether it's a dog whistle, whether everything is done in a very calculated manner, to make sure that his base knows exactly where he stands. And then there's a lot of people who think he's just a blubbering idiot who got here based on nothing more than luck. You can't have it both ways. Now I tend to think that he in a lot of social settings with a lot of things, he says, and does he's just not that smart and I know he's a smart guy, but I don't think that the common sense is always there, and I think he could be aloof about certain things. I don't think it's insane. I believe he didn't hear it. I'm not saying that That's definitely what happened, right? I just don't think for certain that we can say that he did, And he did it because he wanted to make sure that everybody knew he supported racist right like I don't I honestly don't know whether was intentional or not. I'm willing, certainly willing to allow for the possibility that he just saw that it was a parade in the village is of a bunch of people supporting him. And just threw a retweet on it to go. Thank you very much for your support. And then and then the problem becomes. You've got to take that social media following, you know, a little more seriously. I mean, when you're throwing things out there to a ferocious fan base that is waiting, And the same goes for the other. A ferocious, You know, a group opposing you. You've got to be on it when you tweet things out..

"The Tampa Bay times Tom Brady and some members of the Buccaneers holding workout informal workout today lasting a couple of hours Dan reunite side continues now I'm don Huff WBZ Boston's newsradio OJ is full radio can you hear me all right we're going to get right back at this okay so look I'm not a doctor I'm not a researcher I I simply try to distill information in what I do here's what I know what I do know is that this pandemic the courage we never would have thought about it six months ago it would get something out of a horror movie when you really think about it okay I mean can you imagine can you imagine could you imagine this six months months ago I don't think so anyway there's no time to do trials I mean there will be do you need to do trials there's no doubt about that but all the evidence that I have seen there's nothing that I have seen and I've tried to look at everything that would suggest that the early and prophylactic use of this drug which has been been available for seventy years is anything but potentially affect now all right if your doctor in and you want to contradict me on this fine I I will I will listen to what you have to say if you're someone who wants to contradict me on this it's something the problem is politics have been so infused in every aspect of our life it's it's horrific the way politics has been infused you have a sense at least I have a sense that at some point there are some people out there who is saying good let let let this be the demise of Donald Trump I am not a Trumper okay but he is the president of the United States he is elected I didn't vote for him I didn't vote for the other candidates either okay in retrospect I wish I voted for Jill Stein because I've met her a couple times and she's a lovely woman in that vote would have increased our percentage is a little bit but putting that aside the media as soon as Donald Trump said make the hydroxy Cllr Quinn might work the media turned on that not on him they turned on it immediately and you've heard people call tonight you've heard them call every night have done this people have said this drug has helped them so if you've had an experience with hydroxy Cork went particularly if it was used early the idea is that once this system this disease gets in your system the hawks hydroxy clerk when he's not going to help you okay although you just heard from the call of the last caller last hour from Charlie both he and his wife were hospitalized which meant they were in that that high risk group so let's just go to the calls let's open up I want to hear from everybody on this whatever your point of view as list started off with Daniel in Medford Daniel in Medford next on right side thanks for calling in what's your take on hydroxy clerk went so after hearing what the doctor is in like no this is not to say I've kind of taken a lead towards it even though I don't I'm not a doctor but I'm sixteen I'm not even out of school yet but if that is not as high ranking doctors are saying good things about it and I trust them but because you know I trust people who have you know what a training on this but I hope that they're telling the truth then they're being truthful about that well let me help you out a little bit okay first of all there are doctors on both sides of this issue so there was some doctors who are saying oh no no it's horrible and and the here's here's the deal the drug hydroxy Clark when is inexpensive okay it was developed for malaria and it was used extensively during the Vietnam War by our soldiers in Vietnam it was been used around the world I mean just millions of times it's an inexpensive drug it's available what it does is it reduces as I understand it swelling and and that that is what the the factor that helps help people who have coronavirus or covert nineteen now you heard doctor sleep yes she's saying that the studies that that other doctors have cited how that that it's a dangerous drug or or it does it's not effective hello the drug is not effective when it's used on people who are on ventilators it's like giving someone a pro that it's affected like ones like before any of her of her that well with you when your previous college I've heard that it's effective like before like when you just get like like within like what is it like a few weeks because your government but what you said again was if you are bent within about the diet will help you because you know because of the burglar thing well it would be well look at it like this let's say that you chose not to get a flu shot in in the fall in in September October okay let's say in January you came down with a bad case of the flu and then if you want you know to to the doctors had give me a flu shot it's a once you get the flu you know you gotta deal with this we can give you aspirin and all that sort of stuff that might be able to ease your symptoms but you got the flu the flu shot doesn't take the flew away the flu prevent the flu shot prevents the flu when it works also I wanna hear your I wanna hear your opinion on this trip he like I know they're about to undergo another bunch of anti vaxxers out there who know who don't want to get back in that all right should we force the entire doctors like to to to to get them back in the course of conduct to get the vaccine but if they okay so if they can't if they physically cannot get the vaccine that's fine but like that they're able to get the vaccine and they just refuse to get it so we force them to get the vaccine so that we don't spread the disease further well that's a great question and is very fact if you Google Alan Dershowitz my friend a Harvard law professor for many years he says and and Alan Dershowitz is a freedom loving guy who you would you know think would say oh no no no no unless someone really raises some deep religious reasons and I'm not sure that the religious reasons here would would work if people said no I don't want to but I don't want to get this vaccine according to Alan Dershowitz it is absolutely constitutional for the government to say you got to get the vaccine well to me it to me it's kind of like bio warfare to be honest it shouldn't look like I will be able to opinions but committed by Walker because think about if you're getting your getting the diseases that were a radic hated and in Arkansas but now they're coming back because people are saying all no no no the government doing this and it's gonna cause autism I have autism I got the vaccine and I'm not saying that the vaccine caused autism I've heard that the only other thing in fact I don't even know what causes autism I've I've only heard rumors about what causes so I highly doubt that vaccines cause autism well I can I can only tell you this there is a school out in south pearl it's called the New England center for children if you're if you're not familiar with it it's a it's a school in which you sound to me like they think you're doing really well okay that there you you know one of the things about autism is people are not able to express themselves when they really have full blown autism you express yourself really well yeah I I'd like to ask the resilience it's not very very bad it's just like no no no and that's a point that I I just want to make that point for the audience that that autism is on a spectrum so there are people who have a a light case which is called Asperger's and then there are people who you know have really full blown autism urinal I'm sure in the like category just because of your verbal skills but at the new incentive for children they've done a lot of research and they find no relation at secret ship at all that there is a coincidence autism tends to come on the first shown signs of autism as you probably know better than I do when when children are eighteen months old fifteen eighteen months it is a coincidence because children at that Scientologists buy dozens of properties in Clearwater, Florida

"Clearwater Florida there's been a quiet series of land purchases over the last three years a hundred and three million dollars worth made by the church of Scientology and its pressures a doubling of the church's footprint near its international headquarters that's the findings of a story in the Tampa Bay times it's headlined clear takeover trees McManus is a Scientology reporter for the paper she joins us now welcome hi Lou thank you for having us explain to me why the the paper hasn't Scientology reporter I mean how big is the church of Scientology where you are yeah that's a good question I think it's comparable to save it's kind of like if there were to be about again reporter in Vatican City we believe it's important to shed light on a powerful institution that's very controversial and plays a big role in our community so tell me about these land purchases can you give me a sense of the scale and how they we have have made this happen with the relatively little fanfare over the years it kind of started in early twenty seventeen we reported at that time that a handful of limited liability companies bought about six downtown properties and Scientology leader David Miscavige had presented a retail plan to to city staff officials and he was going to build an entertainment complex with Tom Cruise and he was going to recruit high and retail to some of the empty store fronts because downtown clear waters pretty depressed so we kept our eye on the downtown purchases once we dug into the data and pulled records we found that LLC is tied to the church of Scientology had bought about one hundred properties and the properties cover about one hundred acres and it's all surrounding the city's downtown waterfront who they buying from and how and how much are they offering brokers representing these companies were approaching downtown property owners many of the properties weren't listed for sale and our analysis found that these church officials were offering two three four times what the property appraiser said the properties were valued so clearly they wanted these properties a great deal why does this matter well our reporting shows that Scientology has a big interest in preserving its downtown campus flag is what they call it and it's the international spiritual headquarters of the church and it's also basically that financial nucleus of the entire organization there's prisoners that come here from all over the world to take courses in high level auditing that's not offered anywhere else the other side of that is flight is run by the sea org Scientology's full time work force these workers signed billion year contracts are paid very little work around the clock and Scientology has an interest in keeping that insulated according to former executives that we've interviewed what you mean billion year contracts the reason Scientology has such an outsized influence is because of the the cash and assets it has which is estimated to be three billion dollars part of the reason for that is because they have this sea org that works full time and is paid less than fifty dollars a week they keep their operations it's the type of servitude yes exactly and I guess the larger concern is that this could really thwart the city's plans for redevelopment if the Scientologists organizations are are going to have all this property that they're gonna keep for their own purposes right because the city officials have said that there's only so many factors they control one of the factors they do control is the waterfront land that's protected by city charter that they are in the middle of a sixty four million dollar plan right now to re design and develop into a park with gardens and a concert venue businesses might see this city project and say yeah let me take a chance on downtown and open up a business but now these LLC's tied to Scientology control the retail district they have control over what businesses of any come in what is the view of the local community I mean do they view it as helpful for the community at large to have a major religious organizations centered in their town or not you know Lou I spit from my reporting I've learned that there's a lot of mistrust and suspicion still in the community when it comes to Scientology because a lot of the residents here were living in the city one Scientology arrived in the seventies and they remember the tactics Scientology use just out of curiosity when you see the tactics that they use in the seventies what what were those Scientology arrive in downtown Clearwater nineteen seventy five they came in under a fake name to buy the fort Harrison hotel a historic hotel right in the center of downtown and the mayor at the time gave stars really raise the alarm he demanded to see their financials our board of directors he publicly asked why they were security cards with Billy clubs and mace on the roof and in nineteen seventy seven the FBI raided Scientology's had orders in LA in DC and then covered hundreds of thousands of memos and documents and inside those findings was a plan that Scientology operatives had had created and written to establish area control and the tactics they were using to establish Kerry control included infiltration spying smearing and a means it was a very turbulent time so the fact that the church is now buying up these properties through proxy organizations would maybe bring some alarm bells for the community because of what what has happened in the past yeah I think that the key here is the uncertainty we don't know what they're planning to do with the property is a lot of them are vacant lots vacant buildings empty storefronts we don't know if they're just going to continue to squat on them because they haven't done anything yet they haven't submitted redevelopment plans they haven't started construction or are they going to redevelop them and bring businesses and and contribute to a vibrant downtown

"Let me see here. It's just a very comprehensive list, one of the more comprehensive ones I've seen, oh, there's everything. So what went into what was the backstory in terms of starting this, because this is the first one that you guys have done. So what was the thinking behind it? Well, as you know, there's probably a half dozen to a dozen of these already in the marketplace in various level. Some of them really small like local chambers. Do it. Yeah. You know, other publications we decided to do to something massive for the entire Tampa Bay area and really make it make it big. And with the reach of the Tampa Bay times, John. Yeah. The winters, get significant recognition and hopefully gain new customers won't that's going to be big too, because they're gonna wanna feature that if win you know what I mean that they were the winner in this in this contest. And I think that's going to, you know, people see that it's going to mean something. Yeah, they have it's been hard to keep it under wraps. I kinda stopped trying because we have. A few weeks ago because we wanted him to have time to, to participate in the special section, and we started seeing it pop up on social media websites, and I walked down done Eden main street and done eating last week. And, and there was a giant banner hanging off of a building saying we were voted best of the best. That was kind of cool. Yeah. Eighty seven thousand votes. That's a lot of votes expecting that kind of reaction to this. We didn't know what to expect. So it was kind of like low, we hope we'll get over fifty thousand so we did. So there's a lot of sorting trying to make sure we got the, the, the math, right? But. Big spreadsheet for me to deal with. You know, I think that's a, that's a great number of, of, of painting. We're talking to Tampa Bay times. Marketing manager Marty Galloway about the twenty nineteen best of the best people's choice awards. It's going to be in the Tampa Bay times. It's going to be online. Well, it's already online. Right. Look at it yet. Okay. This Sunday is when it's actually going to come out in print yet pick up a Sunday Tampa Bay times, and it will be an insert inside. It's a beautiful colorful, section sixty four pages full of awesome things to do and places to visit. And this was just people voting on it. So it wasn't like there was anybody who got to go and eat at all the different restaurants or anything like that. It was people's choice though. We did not have our times food critic. This is what the people voted for and it, how did you guys come up with all the different groupings and categories? We looked at a lot of just lists of businesses in the area, and we tried to represent a good bit of each kind of thing that we thought people would be interested in. Was there one that you were most interested in? That some of the ones that were fun, where things like best place to have a birthday party or go, you know, best wedding than us. So the, the Florida aquarium actual actually won best wedding. Venue, was my God. Never went to have a wedding. Very cool. They did a an ad showing a picture of what their venue looks like for a wedding. So that was fun, so cool. Wow. You guys got so specific best Kinton era menu. You got. Dinna birthday parties. Exactly. And, and I think one that a lot of people are going to look at the best early bird dinner that will be a popular. I'm sure that won't be a popular one. I'm sure people have very strong opinions on on who won and who was nominated in that category. Why? Silver bur- best apartment. I just moved into a new apartment today and it got the silver award in this wonderful Tampa Bay times survey now there was were you aware that Morgan was moving into that apartment count playing voted? No. That people just knew. And because they knew I was coming and boosting the street cred. Maybe next year they'll get gold. They'll get tough spot..

"And Tampa Bay times, political editor, Steve Contorno. He can follow on Twitter at s Contorno. Steve are you. I'm doing good. How are you? Good. Thanks so much for coming in studio, and spend some time with us this evening. We appreciate it. So first of all, tell us about your ascension all political editor big promotion, Adam Smith, left, the Tampa Bay times after years of doing the job. And now you are in that role and it must be tough because there's really not a lot going on when it comes to politics these days. So you must be like fishing for stories. Florida's pretty boring. I don't think very busy. No. Adam and do the job for almost two decades and, you know, a sort of like a brand and huge personality for us. And to lose him was a was a big loss. But, you know, we're sort of retooling in a lot of places in the newsroom. So this is sort of an opportunity to step up. And I'm really excited for twenty twenty and what is the political editor for people don't even know what that means or what the job entails? Yeah. The name itself is almost a bit of a misnomer because I didn't even you think is like I'm just reading copy and directing reporters and stuff like that. But I'm actually sort of mostly, like the captain of our political coverage. I'll be doing a lot of reporting, I'll be traveling, the state, hopefully get into many communities sort of figure out, you know, how this state is going to go in twenty twenty s get a sense of how people feel about our new governor, and just hopefully get take people behind the scenes of what's going on in Tallahassee, how their taxpayer money's being used holder public officials accountable that kind of thing. And you are focused, mostly on Florida politics. And when you venture into national politics, it usually, has a Florida angle, right? I'm not going to report on whose when the steak fry this week or anything like that. Now, if in two thousand sixteen we had Jeb Rubio so that's you know, that was a huge part of our coverage was being experts on these two guys who came from. And so that meant going Iowa meant to New Hampshire and sort of following those guys around and seeing how they were doing and explaining to our local readers. How your former governor and how you're, you know, you're sort of Senator was ferrying the race and also trying to explain their personality to national audience. So Trump did a pretty good job of explaining jobs for snakes. No comment. Two words, low energy. And that was that a little Marco. Yes. Exactly. Now this time around it looks like at least on the democratic side, we're not going to have, you know, a bunch of big figures in the nominating process. But we do have the president who comes down to Florida all the time. Right. So how much do you guys focus on his trips when he comes down and goes tomorrow, Lago or, you know, there's a lot of rallies here too. Yeah. I mean he's he's probably going to be on the I four corridor, quite a bit. And so we have a sort of an interesting alliance with the Miami Herald, and they tend to cover him when he's in south Florida. And we cover him when he's up here, and, you know, we expect he'll be here quite a bit the Tampa airport snow so nearby. Makes it easy to get to a whole bunch of spots. He's been at the fairgrounds he's been at the convention center, and we expect to see him a lot over the next twelve months. You're mentioning his campaign manager the head of his campaign right now was was in Florida recently and we'll talk a little bit about what they're. Strategy might be going in twenty twenty and they'll probably going to be very focused on the rust belt. I think especially if Joe Biden wants to become the democratic nominee. But if they come to Florida the nominees, and they will on occasion, maybe not as frequently as years, passed, if the focus is, again, on Pennsylvania, and Michigan and Wisconsin and those states, but Tampa and this, I four corridor is usually where they wind up coming. Yeah. I mean it's, it's huge. There's so many voters here between here in Orlando is just, you know, sort of the fertile voter ground. So, you know, he said, we're going to be between Tampa and the Orlando area counties quite a bit. So that's going gonna be a lot of time here and it'll be interesting to see where their focuses and how often they do come. Because like you said the rust belt states, those are the ones that sort of people weren't expecting to swing four Trump. They were the Hillary firewall that, you know, got put out so he his ability to win those states again is going to be really critic. Title, he can afford to lose those states. But he can't afford to lose Florida. Yeah. Whereas Democrats, don't need to necessarily win Florida, right? They need to get back those states and hold onto Nevada and all these other ones. So it'll be interesting to see how Florida ways factors into this whole thing, it's got a really late primary. It's you know, there's no, no one from here other than, you know, the winter White House being in south Florida. So it'd be interesting to see. There's no new governor race. No Senate race. I I'm kind of curious what's, what's Florida are going to be like next year and how much will the governor do for the president. We know they have a close relationship, we know the president has a couple of big allies in the state, especially in congressman Matt gates, depending on the day, Marco Rubio, and then and then Senator Scott as well. So it's going to be interesting to see how Florida what role Florida plays in the twenty twenty election might be a little bit different than what we've seen in years past. We're talking to Tampa Bay times political editor, Steve Contorno. You can follow him on Twitter at s Contorno. You guys did. A lot of coverage of the recent legislative session. What was it that you felt like readers were responding the most to was there in issue, or a story or a Bill? That was really getting a lot of eyeballs. Yeah. I mean, the amendment for issue, young really's. We spent a lot of time on on this show. Yeah. We get a tracker of the web traffic on her stories and any time you put him in four and a headline it would just shoot. People were just following the developments of that really closely that in, and then the Bill about whether or not teachers should be allowed to carry firearms in school. So I felt like I felt like for us. It was amendment for it was the arming of teachers, definitely which we wound up talking about again, today with Hillsborough county sheriff check roster. And also the other two were the sanctuary policy issue, which makes a little more sense. This audience tend to skew more conservative. And then the texting while driving. Yeah. Was another one. Because I think everybody can relate to that. Yeah. We had a lot of that, too. We had a story that was like seven things you need to know about texting while driving. And just like blew up that was one. You know, I think people are just generally interested to see how governor to Santa's navigated this new session. He's complete unknown to so many people 'nigma. He was so different on the campaign compared to how he's been in office. Yeah. He came came in on a complete talking about the environment, which no one expected, you know, Republican to come in and do that. So it's it was that was a shocker and then some of the ways he sort of maneuver behind the scenes and stuff. I think caught some people by surprise you. Everyone was really used to how Rick Scott operate it which was a CEO mentality. You know, you all work for me. This is my agenda. It's my way or the highway and that chafed a lot of people in Tallahassee the wrong way. But at the same time, you know, he had a lot of power, and he had the veto pen so they kind of did have to go along with them. And instead. Head of that tactic to Santa's really brought lawmakers into the mix and really made the Republican party. United in a way that was difficult for Democrats to drive a wedge between them, you know, they'd have no power other than whenever the Republicans break down amongst each other. So without that. Any area where they could wedge in Democrats were just basically left out this session. And I think that's a big reason why such a big Republican legislative agenda got through. I mean, they cleaned up like if you're a Republican in the state of your conservative Senate, you know, for sin session, ended in really leading towards the end of session as these bills were getting past you should be very happy. I mean, Republicans and conservatives did really well the session. Yeah. It's probably the most consequential agenda since Jeb Bush. I mean where does the. The political power lie when session isn't going on. So where do you guys focus when it comes to Florida state issues obviously during session, the focus is on Tallahassee? Everybody's there. But when everybody goes back home, however you guys covering things. Well, our Tallahassee team is taking a nice long nap not bet because that was some late nights for them. I mean you can't possibly magin how much stuff is getting out there at one AM. I mean it's just nuts. And it's it's not very transparent. You know, I would say that I was one of the ones reading through all the bills, but it was really feeling. Actually reading them. But what gets frustrating is they change so much. So we think we have a handle on the sanctuary policy Bill, and then it gets adjusted or the house in the Senate come to a different green, and that's it. It's lot. And it's one of the things that was interesting covering it because like you go on the website and they try and update everything as much as they can. But then it's like okay, we'll talk about a one day and then I'm like, okay, I better go check again. Because like they'll change one thing, the film voting rights. They change the memo chains like four one day before we even got back on air, like, how do you, you and your team, keep up with all that, because like you have to turn out that reporting so quickly and being able to read, and digest everything? How does that come into coverage? You know, when I when I talked to our Tallahassee reporters with they're so good at is. They know what's going to happen. A lot of times before it happens. They, they are getting heads up in and they've got source got sources we need down. In this and it's going to go in this direction. So, and I think there's a there's a there's craziness chaotic as it isn't Tallahassee..

"On NewsRadio W F L A. We didn't get to this story last week. But it's too interesting not to touch on here on the show. The ex mayor of port Richey spent years smoking crack cocaine on a nightly basis and used meth according to court records of teen by the Tampa Bay times Dale massive paid runners to bring him illegal drugs scorning to the records and acted as the personal doctor for his pals suturing their injuries on his kitchen table, all Wally health. Let's guys. Those records also revealed what launched the investigation the lead to massive arrest on February twenty first and his subsequent resignation as mayor. He faces charges of practicing medicine without a license and attempted murder. The result of massive firing his gun toward swat deputies as they raided his house during the medical investigation. According to the Pasco county sheriff's office charge of conspiracy was later added because thority say mastered was recorded in a March third jail phone, call plotting with acting mayor Terry road to intimidate a police officer involved in the medical investigation. Is there anything criminal this? Now, former mayor didn't do. Roh was arrested on March fourteenth making him. The second port Richey mayor to be arrested in the span of twenty days. Rose was suspended by the governor. But hasn't resigned leaving poor Ritchie's city government, basically paralyzed massive defense attorneys have maintained their client is innocent. So smoking crack cocaine and using meth on a nearly nightly basis as. And then operating on people while you're doing do, you think he was operating like while he was under the influence of meth, and crack would assume so yeah, yeah. This guy sounds like type of guy that would do. We what was that story man that was a long time ago that was around the time the show I launched back a year ago when we did the very first story on all the different run ins with the law that Dale massive had had over the years. And this was information that even waited no this is no worse than we thought. The other story related to a local mayor Saint Petersburg, mayor recruits men cities, getting emails meant for the latest democratic presidential hopeful, Pete, Buddha, judge and most of them aren't very nice. The emails are addressed to mayor at Saint Pete dot org. Which is which is the correct address. You're trying to reach mirror Chrysler mayor Christman, but several emails have come in address to Pete Buddha. Judge the mayor of south bend, Indiana home. Then God Christman said the emails attack, the openly gay Buddha judge for a same sex marriage views and his recent criticism of vice President Mike Pence Christman says he knows Buddha judge is even campaigned alongside them for a local state house candidate. So. People are emailing mayor at Saint Pete dot org thinking they're going to reach mayor Pete's. Oh, my now. Now, I see the connection before I'm like, I don't understand how they stumbled on the connection, but you gotta be an idiot. That's bizarre. I mean, I don't even like. It says. Just because. In the Email address. But that still doesn't really make sense. And it's not like, it's one Email. It's he's saying it's multiple emails. Right. Yeah. Yeah. So it's it's one one stupid person has emails a lot of stupid people. Yeah. Yeah. I was just thinking like you. Did they miss type it and put as DP like? No. It's just that Pete is so named Pete and mayor is somewhere in the Email address. Thought they thought they were sending it to people. Wow. Good times for Christman over there. That's. Floor to Pete. Like, you're gonna have some people you need to win over here. Wrong, by the way, not happy with you start campaigning here. Wow. All right. Coming up next. We've been trying to keep you up to date on some of the bills making their way through the state legislature. We touched on this sanctuary cities related Bill was like a week or two ago. Our legal correspondent Felix vacant broken down for us. But now the ACLU has had something to say about it, which I thought was pretty misleading Felix will help break. It all down for us. Coming up here in a moment on PM, Tampa Bay videoconferencing Marine Corps vet and executive director of concerned veterans for America. Dan, Caldwell says he'd like more Americans to be informed on who they're voting for you. Should learn about where they stand on important decision. You shouldn't just judge them based on their party affiliation. That's why CVA is holding town hall events with politicians including one this Thursday in Houston that will allow the public in vets to talk directly with freshman, congressman and retired navy. Field. Dan crenshaw? I think people are going to be interested in learning about his views on how you should reform the VA and the long-term Caldwell says, you can.

"Only have it. But have it at the White House with the president what special treat, but there is kind of a flip side to this. Then I'll bring up. Because we like to cover all sides on the show. The president's personally paying for it. Right. The government shutdown. Does it say something about him that when he had the opportunity to to pay for a meal for this national champion team? He kind of went cheap with. Seriously, like like, he didn't order steaks from the nicest steak restaurant in Washington DC. He got McDonald's Burger King. And Wendy's is like how can we save a couple bucks on NASA? I love it. I think it's hilarious. And I bet you those players are. I bet you they're going to dig in and tear apart that fast food now if if. The lightning win the Stanley Cup. And they're invited to the White House, which is a very real possibility do cheerleaders go with them. I hope so I don't know. So if that were the case. Would you would you want something like this to be the meal or would you want like a fancy it would be a funny story meal? It would be a funny story. But no, of course, if I'm going to the White House, I expect to be treated like a Queen. Right. Well, that is that really any different from. Right. And and if let's say you went to the White House, and they were serving up this kind of food the president personally pays for a bunch of fast food for for everyone to eat. Would you eat it? Yeah. Because your pick. I I see what you eat. Sometimes it's not McDonald's hamburgers. Every now. And then if it was fast food Barat bought four me by the president of the United States. Would you do one of the salad bowls? Yeah. All right. All right. That's good. I think I think they're going to lie. I can't wait to see the video. These guys dig in. The statement is great. He blames it on the Democrats in. For the Clemson Tigers championship team fantastic. All right. I got a couple of stories that I want to get to and and I really want to paint a bigger picture here. So there's one local story and one story connected to. What's in the news nationally? These days. And and what this is all about is that we constantly hear these solutions to problems all kinds of different problems when it comes to politics, and we get on board with them or we oppose them. But either way. A lot of times. We don't realize how complicated the solutions actually are. So this one's from the Tampa Bay times. An examination of how the guardian program is being implemented across the state was done by the Tampa Bay times in university of Florida student journalists now if you're not familiar with the guardian program, we've talked a lot about it on this show. The guardian program allows certain school district employees who are not classroom. Teachers to carry concealed weapons on campus was created last year as part of the Marjory stoneman Douglas public safety act. Some small districts struggled to recruit enough so-called school guardians to keep their school safe. Levy county launched a program only to have nobody apply for weeks. Others had trouble with the guardians. They hired in Duval county school safety. Assistant get this was arrested for pawning a service weapon issued to him by the school district. So this guy's a guardian at the school. He's issued a service weapon any pawns it off for cash. In Hillsboro, we had a school security deputy resigned after exposing students to pepper spray in manatee county. A guardian was fired from his duties an elementary school in Sarasota after the brains in herald dinner at the series of controversial posts on his Facebook page. More than a third of the twenty four districts had problems in the program's. First
