"The Tampa Bay Business Journal says all 74 pilot bank employees will remain with the new entity from Bloomberg. I'm Steve POTUS Kfir NewsRadio Doubled U F L A From ST Pete to Brandon. This is am Tampa Bay. The talk of Tampa Bay AM Tampa Bay on this Thursday, June 17th Ryan Gorman in for Jack Harris, with Aaron and Katie, and it's time now for our dope. Of the day and we've got a good one. There's there's no shortage of dopes to turn to every morning for dope of the day, but this one in particular, I think it's pretty interesting story. You know, I feel bad for her. But you know what? You have to learn the lessons the hard way. Sometimes. So this 18 year old girl found herself locked out of her home. It's happened to the best of us. We've all probably been locked out of time or two. But the typical route to get inside is usually not to go through your chimney. That's usually not how you what do you mean? That's how Santa does it? Santa and only Santa Santa has magic in him. This 18 year old girl did not carry Santa's magic, Unfortunately, because she got stop just above The flu. I don't really know what the flu isn't a chimney, but I assume it is the part almost to the end. So I think she almost made it and then got stuck. Now this we laugh about this, and we make her a dope of the day. This happened to a kid a couple of years ago, and he died. They found him. Like days later he went missing they could not find him. And then they found him in an abandoned house chimney. He like he tried to get into the house through the chimney, and he died. Very sad story. Luckily, that did not happen to this girl. Fire fighters had to come rescue her and like you said, very embarrassing. Just break a window or something. If you really have to get in right that second like you can't wait. Break a window. Don't don't go through the chimney. It's just not a good idea. Do you think as she was stuck in the chimney issues thinking herself, Santa can make it through. He's fat. Joe. How come I can't? She was probably thinking I am an idiot. Why did I do this? Yeah, That's what I be thinking. And I wonder like at what point the firefighters came like, Did the parents get home and then found her in the chimney, And then they called me just scream for help. And the neighbors called. I want to know how the firefighters got called because I I know she didn't whip out her cell phone from her pocket while she was hanging in the chimney and be like, Hey, right, I'm stuck. So I just just imagine that though your let's say your parents do come home and you're like how good they're finally home like you've been waiting for a while for them to go. At home and you start yelling for help. And then they're trying to figure out where you are. And where are you sound like you're in the walls? I'm in the chimney. Don't ask questions. Just get me out. Absolutely. Never going to live that down. Good. Now do we have a picture of her? Is she? Uh, a bigger Like could really fit like could you do you think you'd be able to? I would never make it through the chimney. Three of Katie's could go through that chimney at the same time. Really? You think so? I don't think I could, but I would never try. I don't know how narrow that gets. I don't know She's 18. So let's see if there's a picture out there. You sure you don't want to try, Kitty? That would be interesting with viral video we could do. Honestly, we had firefighters nearby. I would probably try it just for the heck she's like, I hope I get stuck in. These firefighters have to come rescue. I wasn't even thinking that. Yeah, if you get a good some good looking firefighters will definitely try it. But I just met. I don't want to die inside the chimney, and I would like someone to be there to rescue me. But I mean, if they're good looking, that helps to wonder how they got her out of they have to break down there. You haven't seen the pictures. I saw the picture of the Train and lift it up. But no, I didn't see that. Hang on. I got that from both sides. I'm okay because I saw the picture of the firefighter underneath the chimney. At the bottom. Looking up. Why can I only if I Oh, okay. I thought those were marks on her arm. Okay? Yeah, it's the it's the firefighter looking up. Do you think this happens often? Because they looked like they jumped into action like they were ready to go like you like a cat getting stuck in a tree. She was all covered in soot. Probably. Apparently, the firefighters said they are trained in confined space rescue confined space rescue. Why do I feel like there's a reason? There's no picture of this girl like I cannot find a picture of her anywhere? Because it's embarrassing. She wasn't rushing to take a selfie and put it on instagram. Not after that. Can we take your names like absolutely not just get me out of this thing. Uh, that is a great dope of the day. All right, Coming up Next here on am Tampa Bay will do some quick takes with Reed Shepherd. Also, we have to find out what's trending with Katie. "It's six eleven on AM Tampa Bay and we've been running poll on our Twitter site here, which is at WFL a news and asking you to choose who you would like to see as mayor and how the poll results look right now Katy. You know, every time I have to go find these. I realized how much stuff we post to Twitter, and it really is ridiculous. I can I'm scrolling and I'm scrolling and I'm scrolling and I'm two days ago. And I just don't see them. Oh, you can't find the result. I'm getting there. They're here somewhere. I was just on it a little bit ago. I can tell you that Toepfer Morrison's. Cal. I'm not sure if they think that the I some of them might believe this is actually the the voting process where like if you win our Twitter poll, you are now mayor that's not how it works. But even a good push for Tofa to razz. I know that he was losing in the beginning. And then tow for followed us and all his people jumped on it and Aaron's, right? I mean it took off. Well, the Tampa Bay business journal poll and the last time I saw the total number of responses as far as their readers are concerned. And Jane castor is way out in front with thirty two percent. Harry Cohen at sixteen percent. Those two are running up against each other in our poll and Jane casters winning sixty two percent. Sixty to sixty two and Dickie Greco in the Tampa Bay business journal poll is at eight percent, oh, then to- for Morrison twenty four percent. And like you say, I think some readers of the Tampa Bay business journal on line decided to jump into that for toefl and David stress and only five percent. Mike Suarez at four Ed transient at five percent. And no answer three percent. So gene caster the favorite. Yeah. Jane in in. This case is way ahead really thirty two percent to Fers twenty four percent. I don't know how big a chance he has of winning this thing. I think one of the things Toepfer was talking about some time ago. See the talking about gondolas around town or something like that. Don't remember specific. Remember that conversation though. I don't remember if it was him on gondolas Phil we had dick Greco up get up against ETA ranting, and they actually tied. So we have them tied for fifty fifty like I said Jane casters leading against Harry Cohen sixty two percent. And then I have David strass against over more than like, Aaron said topers, people hopped on nine got him a lot of votes. So he's leading Seventy-three percent. And yes, you're right, Jack, he was behind the gondolas. And that's something they're about to install at Walt Disney World, you're putting in gondolas. Now that will take people to different parks and to some of the hotels, and he's an aerial aerial transit. Yeah, I I like the gondolas idea. And there was a guy over in Clearwater somebody. Who is in the limited power over. There was talking about putting gondolas from landside to Clearwater beach park, your car and then hop on there. And you don't have to drive across the bridge. I guess and then the expanded that and said, we'll just run them all around downtown Clearwater to will the view from the gondola in downtown. Tampa would be beautiful. Yeah. That'd be fantastic. I love the idea. It's not too practical for just moving people. But the sky ride is one of my favorite thing at Busch gardens, and this is like a giant sky. Right. So this just sounds amazing to me. That's all I think is like a giant sky ride. I like it. And again, they're going to put it at DisneyWorld. They want to have it there too. It's six fifteen on AM Tampa Bay. And let's go to the newsroom. Yeah. "What's your old pitch going to be talking about here in a couple of minutes? He was left alone. Like Aaron is in the kitchen. It didn't turn out to get. I can only imagine. And I don't think he would like that being in there. Anyway, bills him for NBC. News Radio reporter joins us right now. The big issue seems to be aside from the eternal Muller investigation, which I hope they ended in my lifetime. Like to know what the outcome's going to be. But that aside the other big story is are we going to have another government shutdown come February fifteenth, and they'll what's your take on that now. Well, I mean, we have this conference committee that hasn't been assembled now that has been given the job of coming up with something before that deadline that number one the house can pass a number to the Senate can pass and most importantly that the president can sign so this group Jack got together for the first time yesterday seventeen members of the house and Senate eight Republicans nine Democrats, but these are all people from appropriations committees. So these are the people that do these things negotiate these things they do this all the time. So I if anybody can do it, I would think that this group can now there there is a little bit of a caveat here. The president has already said to them if it doesn't include money for the barrier wall along the border, then they're wasting their time. But Senator ROY blunt from Missouri. Who is a Republican has said that doing our job by definition means nobody gets everything they want. So the question remains will be able to come up with something that the president will sign or will we on February fifteenth be talking about another government shutdown and a possible national emergency declaration, my feeling is that this group Jack will get it done, and we will be able to get something the president can sign whether it includes all of his demands remains to be seen. But I really believe we're going to avoid another shutdown or a national emergency. And one of the interesting things. They're not calling it a wall. Now, they're calling offense offense barriers barrier. Yeah. They're they're they're using some other terminology now other than other than wall. I, you know, perhaps the research has shown it's a little more palatable. So yeah, a lot of different terms for it. But. It's still something along the border there that that the president wants, and and it's upper negotiation now in this group if anybody can get it done they can get done. And is that really what it is? It's all of them together deciding we're going to change the verbiage on this because of optics or is it just separation within the Republican party? Well, that's a good question. I mean, I the Republic that's going to be the key to this. Whether or there is a growing group of Republicans in the Senate, especially that that say, hey, you know, we're getting a little out of hand with this whole thing, and we need to get something done. And if they can convey that message to the president as well now Mitch McConnell, I think is trying to do that is over the last couple of days has talked about the negativity of government shutdowns, and and the job that congress has to do. So we'll see what kind of solidarity. The Republican party has moving forward here. And like you say the possibility of that shutdown. Looms very large these days, and and again, the people who backed president are getting upset because he can't seem to get it done. And it baffles me that he had two years with the Republicans, and they never got anything done. I'll I'll never understand that one. Yeah. I know and Jackie you have to remember a little over a year ago. There was a there was a proposal on the table that would have provided twenty five billion dollars for a border wall that the that the president didn't like because it included provisions for Dhaka as well. So it seems like maybe there were some opportunities here. Yeah. And of course, now, he's ready to make some concessions on DACA in order to get the wall. But I don't think that's going to be good enough for the Democrats now. But in any way, Bill thanks for joining us on AM, Tampa Bay anytime. Thanks Bill ZIM for NBC. News Radio reporter here on AM. "Theatre in Clearwater. And thank you for joining us on AM Tampa Bay. Have a great one warm up here. It's eight twenty eight on AM Tampa Bay. AM Tampa Bay. Weekday mornings from five to nine on News Radio. WFL a meeting in Tampa Bay business journal online about the many Donut factory which has been growing here in the Tampa Saint Pete area. But apparently, it's in trouble and Ashley criteria joins us right now. She's the one that's been covering the story for the Tampa Bay business journal and nationally. What's the story on this? Are they going to be shut down? They are shutdown currently, and no one knows when they will reopen one of the investors in many Donut factory has to the owners saying they're in defaults and oh close to a million dollars. Well over nine hundred thousand dollars. How does how does something like that build up to that point? Nobody finds out about it until now. Well, I think these things happen at the they happen quickly. They they seem like they're happening quickly, but it was probably happening behind the scenes for several months and in the terms of business nine hundred thousand dollars. It's not a lot of money. There were two separate promissory notes. So we're executed for over six hundred thousand dollars each and at the time they were opening the Saint Petersburg store and that was well behind schedule. So it's just not hard to imagine how they got behind. I I don't know if they're lease began before they were open. But if that did happen, they could have been paying rent before sales started. So I know it sounds like a lot of money, but in terms of business and how quickly things can spiral. It really is that well I have never eaten their donuts, but somebody told me they're fantastic. And would like to see him you had them. Oh, yeah. Yeah. About you. Jeff. Have you tried the doughnuts ever from the whole the donuts the holes everything they're really good the mini Donut? How many can you fit in your mouth at one time? Can you send your nose is? I got a big mouth. I can probably do it. I've eaten there probably thirty forty times in my life. All right. And oh, wait, I understand. I have you have at the metropolitan ministry. Fantastic. You're right. Have you had actually? You know, I have I've spent a lotta time with toxic and route and Zora rebel. We did a big story on how they're they had an incredible success in two thousand sixteen after they took over that business. We did a story on how that success was so stressful at almost drove them to divorce, and I spent probably five or six hours interviewing them talking about their marriage, but business, so yeah, it's it's from a consumer facing standpoint, it has a very fun business. They're very cute. They're delicious little donuts, but businesses business, and it's very challenging. Oh, yeah. Undoubtedly, well, let's hope they make it through this financial crisis and expand here in the Tampa Bay area because they are great. And and I did have somebody tell me about him. I wasn't aware. "This is from the Tampa Bay business journal the electronic shared scooter pilot program that the city of Tampa hope to launch his earliest February has apparently hit a road bump. I don't know how I miss this. I was not aware that we were doing anything electric scooter. I don't know. Excited about I heard all about it. A lot of people were excited about it. I don't know how I missed that. I don't know where I was what I was doing. I when I saw this today. I'm like, I don't think we've talked about that. I don't know where I was. It was heaven. I don't think we have city leaders decided to reissue the requests for applications. The reissued requests means that all the companies that originally submitted an application in mid October. When it was advertised are now going to have their applications tossed out. Sucks for them. The new application deadline is February eleventh the city is still seeking applications to select up to three operators to provide motorized scooter sharing services in designated areas. As part of a shared, motorized scooter pilot program city officials will provide the recommended three vendors for city council approval at the March twenty first council meeting, and they expect the one year pilot project to get underway by April. First the original proposed program stated that vendors were to supply a total of eighteen hundred dacas scooters that would be placed in different areas throughout downtown and kept in Corrales the motorized scooters are not legal to operate on public roads. But users can ride them on sidewalks and multi use paths scooters and go as fast as a five eight miles per hour. This is this is very similar to the the bike sharing program. And I'm familiar with that especially in Chicago because it's really the bike sharing is a really. A big deal in the city of Chicago, which is kind of crazy because half the year. He can't use them. It's too cold out, whatever this is so much better than bikes. It's cool. I have a lot of friends in DC that are obsessed with the it's a huge huge huge craze in DC. I always see on social media. They're renting them and writing them around bars, and it lay it looks like the most fun cool thing ever. Yeah. You know, I've been a big proponent of the segway. I love this. I thought it would be great to have segues zipping all around Tampa segues are expensive drive now causes. A little more problems. They're a little they're a little more expensive. They're also little faster. Yeah. That that could do some damage, and and I don't know how easy have you ever been on an electric scooter before? Now, I haven't okay, I haven't either. So I don't know how easy there an operator. That easy on the most part. I know once you get on the segway and kind of adjust yourself a little bit. It's very easy to use. And you're not falling off of it. So that's why I thought that would have been a good took a segway tour once that I fell off my segue. Thank you built. So you don't really, yeah. I ran I was making attention. I was segue towards are stupid because you're looking at the scenery. So I'm looking at the scenery, and I bumped into the tour guide and we collided and I went off. Yeah. This edition of blonde moments with Morgan is brought to you by. All right. The the scooter pilot program. It depends. I think we're their place. Like they've got to be a lot of these in downtown because that would be a great option for you to go from life armature works in that area to sparkman war down the river. Walk this way. You don't have to keep moving your car, you could park like in central location. And by the way, I've talked about this before they need to add more street barking and Tampa. There's a lot of space that aren't being used for. What reason I don't know they they got to open up some spaces. But you could you could essentially park in one area, and then you could use scooters to get around downtown. So maybe maybe for a night out. You wanna do dinner at you Lali? And then you wanna hit a Franklin manner for a couple of drinks and then swing overdose. Sparkman warf. Gotta be careful that you could get a DUI. Yes. Yes. You can't you can't get wasted. That sounds right. But but theoretically, very cool. It could be a super cool concept. Right. You could maybe you could go up and down the river walk. You know on a scooter. I don't know exactly. They're pushing it back trendy right? This moment you to like jump on it quick. I know. And the problem that I think we're gonna come across. When this rolls outs. Is the fact that they're going to be used on sidewalks and multi use paths? Yeah. So I just have a feeling pedestrians and scooters is going to be a lot of clashes. Oh, yeah. I remember. Walk to class trying dodge bikes, and yeah, it's gonna take a little getting used to. But I I like that a lot more than bikes. It's probably takes less effort takes certainly takes less effort. It's a little faster. I think I just not a big bike sharing a sweat. It's like a whole workout. If I do the scooter thing, the one thing, I will make sure I have on me. When I use one hand sanitizer because they're going to be pretty gross. Yeah. How often sledding how often are these things getting cleaned off? City officials going around in Lysol in the handlebars top priority ASO going to need some and sanitizer for that the Tampa Bay times. Did a great story. The other day. The Tampa Bay is source that you love to hate. And they listed six it. I thought each one of them made a lot of sense the first one on their list, we'll kind of run through the lesson. We're putting it up on the website too. So you can see pictures of the eye sores in case for whatever reason, you're not familiar with them. They're all pretty well known places in the Tampa Bay area. WFL news dot com. Just go to the PM Tampa Bay page. The flour mill in downtown. You know, the one. Huge the thousand square feet. I didn't know this in the Tampa Bay times story we're going to link to it on the website. They give a little bit info about each of these places and the flour mill grinds, wheat and ships one point five million pounds of flour a day. That's a lot. Yeah. That isn't a lot of work is built nineteen thirty eight. It's very very. Ugly. Yeah. And never knew I never even knew that. It was a flour. Mill. I had no idea what it was just some beef seen it before ya off the off of the Salman, but it's going away because Jeff inex- companies development company they purchased the mill for thirteen million back in October is actually going to move out of downtown ten acres near Apollo beach by twenty twenty one. So it's not gonna be there much longer because downtown's looking really nice with water street, and all these new things, you know, you to keep it beautiful and that mills not not a great look there. The sulphur springs water tower off I seventy five. It it looks like a big old tower. I don't necessarily know that this one such an ice cap. I think it's interesting. Yeah. I don't I never knew what this was either. I pass it all the time. Five and I never had any idea. What it was? Yeah. This aren't really care about as much because it's not doubt. It's not downtown. It's not exactly, but it's far enough away that it's just kinda like you're driving on the highway interesting the rivergate tower in downtown Tampa also known as the beer can building in the Sykes tower. That is an eyesore. Yeah. That isn't it is just not a good looking. Yeah. It's easily to me the ugliest building in downtown. This is nothing attractive about it. Now, it it's I don't even know if there's anything you can do with it. As is like the color to me is ugly. If you painted a different if it was a gray. Would it even? Outdated on the does. It looks very it looks very outdated and old. It's it's it's an ugly building downtown. And as we keep getting these nights or buildings. Yeah. It looks worse. And worse there's anything we can do. But somebody wants to tackle that problem. The the Gordon between Curtis six in park and rivergate tower. I don't I mean, I don't know. I guess because I've been to this one. I've never really like walked through it and been like God, this is charitable looking. But it's it could be a better garden. Yeah. It's not very gardening. No. We're in Florida and critics in his such right ice park. You can have all kinds of different amazing flan. You're in Florida. And it's it's just it's brass, and it's not the there's there's a little bit too, though that I didn't know the architect designed the garden in the thousand nine hundred eighty s to complement the rivergate tower, which is also ugly. So it it is a perfect complement for it. Neither one of them are all that great. And apparently the architect wanted to create what would be geometric design that would connect all the elements. According to the cultural landscape foundation, the checkerboard pattern seen in the garden is based on the financial sequence. I had no idea. Learn something new every day. Still kinda ugly. Number five on this list there. Six total on the list. The skyline building the seven storey circular building near downtown Saint Pete. This one's not the worst. Does it bother me as much? I think this is the best out of everything on the list. And then finally number six Tropicana field. It's an ugly ugly building its giant dome has nothing. I mean, there's really at this point inside and out there is nothing about it. Nope. Not too much. So I think that one certainly deserves its place on this list of Tampa Bay eyesores. You can see the full list and check out the pictures. If you're not familiar with any of the things that we talked about we're going to have it all on the website. Just go to W F L A news and check out the PM Tampa Bay page to check it out. If there is like a monument or a building or an area that you think should be on the list. I mean, I'm trying to think off top.

And if you want to keep up with a lot of great stuff going on around here, check it out online. I wanna go to George in Tampa who has a comment to make on the financial cost of immigration. What's your morning? Yeah. According to the the website federation for immigration reform. Yeah. The yearly costs about one hundred and thirty five billion. Did it costs the country one hundred thirty five billion? You were you're talking medical education policing. And that's per year. So people the websites, fair US dot org. Federation for American Immigration Reform. Yeah. We broadcast with them up in Washington DC. It's a great organization and they've got their they've got their focus on protecting America protecting America protecting our border. We're one of the few countries in the world has come on in folks. So it doesn't matter if your criminal or whatever you wanna do I've got an idea then what's that at the Mexican border? Let's put up on our side. Welcome to Canada. On they'll get confused and go back, maybe. But it's interesting. Hey, we're we're here. Let's go back. That is crazy. And we're we're giving the we're trying to get five billion for the wall. And we're not going to get that much. But we're giving ten point six billion to southern Mexico and the Central America. And like he pointed out we're paying over one hundred billion to take care of these people educate him and clothe them and feed them and all that kind of stuff we're a stupid country, really, and what the Democrats put down, and it's gonna add zero zero money zero dollars for funding the border wall. That's not gonna happen. Oh, yeah. The billion for securing the border that doesn't include money for the wall. That's going to play into Trump's hands though in four or two years when he's running. Well, we didn't get the wall done. So that's what I'm running on again and that'll get him through this same boats in. Yeah. And it's just falling into his hands. The Democrats are playing, you know, they're going to be some bad things happen down there. As a result of not getting that wall. But the Republicans had all the control and nothing happened. I know Republicans aren't worth squat. You're not much better than the Democrats. A chance to get it done did nothing. So the voters can say, well, yeah, we we know you want the wall President Trump. But it's not as easy as you think the Republicans aren't going to back you. So there's no use in having Republicans in congress, Democrats aren't gonna do anything different. As far as the wall is concerned. Let's quickly go to Michael in Tampa. And Michael, you got thirty seconds. What's up mandatory jail time for anybody to hires? Anybody illegal? I don't care if it's sweep your sidewalk, and they say, they're starving with three kids. The illegal immigration will stop within twenty four hours. Your president might be in jail. Then he's hired a few illegal. Okay, presented is it lemon? The wrong. Am I wrong? You're right. He did hire some illegals or is people hired some illegals down in Palm Beach. Whatever is places call. So is he did hire some? But I don't think he hired him. I think is people. It's not me making a slight on the president's telling the truth is what it is. Yeah. Pelosi does too. They all have some o- on they'll do. And he's right though. They ought to people ought to be fined or jailed for hiring illegal immigrants. They should be like criminals.
