With 'Raya,' Disney has their biggest animated action hero to date — and yes, she's still a princess

"Chang says the new Disney film Riot, and the last Dragon is not just for kids. He calls it a gorgeously animated fantasy adventure with a hopeful message. For this moment, the movie began streaming on Disney plus today. Ryan and the last Dragon is the lovely moving surprise. Its big selling point is that it's the first Disney animated film to feature Southeast Asian characters. Like so many movies that break ground in terms of representation, it tells a story that's actually woven from reassuringly familiar parts. Didn't mind that in the slightest. The movie directed by the Disney veteran Don Hall and the animation newcomer Carlos Lopez. Estrada brings us into a fantasy world that's been beautifully visualized and populated with engaging characters. And it builds to an emotional climax that I'm still thinking about days later. Story is a little complicated as these stories tend to be It takes place in command Ra and enchanted realm inspired by various Southeast Asian cultures and divided into five kingdoms, named after a dragon's body parts heart Thing, spine, Talyn and tail. Before they became extinct centuries ago. Dragons once roamed the land and served as friendly guardians to humanity. Their magic lives on in a Jule called the Dragon Gym, which is kept in a cave in the heart, but the other four kingdoms covet. It's mighty powers. One day all five factions come together and try to reach a peace agreement. But tensions erupt. Ah fight breaks out, and the gem shatters into five pieces that are scattered across come, Andhra. This opens the doorway to an ancient enemy called Bedroom, a terrible plague that turns people to stone. Actually, a hero must rise and save the day. Her name is Ryan. And she's a young warrior princess from heart voiced by the excellent Kelly Marie Tran from Star Wars. The last Jedi. I Ryan manages to escape the drone, though her father, her body whose leader of heart isn't so lucky. Now Ryan must recover the pieces of the Dragon Jim, reverse the damage and banished that room for good. This is the first time we've seen a brave young character embark on a quest for magical bottles. And Ryan and the last Dragon is rooted in traditional fantasy lore with the Lord of the Rings and game of Thrones being just the most obvious influences. Movies, Intense scenes of sword play and hand to hand combat. Give it a tougher, more grown up field and most Disney animated fantasies. My own young daughter had to cover her eyes a few times. Some other recent Disney princesses, including marijuana, and Elsa Ryan has a bold, adventurous streak and isn't all that interested in romance? Unlike them, she doesn't even have time to sing a song. That said the movie still has plenty of lightness and humor. Screenwriters. Quick win and Adele Limb have provided the usual Disney array of cute critters and lively supporting characters. None of them is more colorful than see Soo Ah friendly water Dragon who is magically resurrected during riots journey. She's the last of her kind, and she has a crucial role to play in the story. She's voiced delightfully by Aquafina doing one of her signature chatterbox comedy routines and selling everyone of ceases and naturalistic wisecracks. In one scene, she touches a piece of the dragon Jim and magically Lights up. Which riots sees as a hopeful sign. You were glowing. Oh, thank you. I use Alan Rivers climb. Maintain my know this'd my little sister office magic. I got that glow in your little sister's much jack. Yet. Every dragon has a unique magic. Okay, What's yours? I am a really strong swimmer. Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait. You touch this gym piece, and it gave you powers. You know what this means? Right? I no longer need a night light. What? No, you're still connected to the jumps. Magic, not means you can still use it to save the world. If we can get all the other Jen pieces, you can reassemble it and, well, the drooling away. And bring my bar back and bring all of commander back Ryan and sees his journey takes them toe. All five kingdoms of command ra all of which are so vivid and transporting, I found myself wishing they really existed. More than I could have at least seen them on a proper movie screen. There's the town of talent, which is built at the edge of a river and the desert wasteland of tail where Ryan and See Soo must enter a cave of obstacles straight out of an Indiana Jones adventure. As the two of them search for more dragon Jim pieces. They, of course, pick up a few friends along the way. There's a street smart boy who cooks a mean shrimp Con ji and a toddler pickpocket, whom I found more creepy than cute. The movie's most intriguing character is no Mari arrival. Princess from Fang, who's voiced by Gemma Chan. As a side note. Chan and Aquafina both appeared in crazy rich Asians, which, like this movie was co written by Adele Limb. Mari and Roya used to be friends until the fight over the dragon Jim rip them apart. Now they're bitter enemies, and their emotional dynamic is fierce and complicated in ways that relationships are rarely allowed to be in Children's animated films, especially between women. Contrast, See, Sue is all feel good vibes. She's a dragon, after all, with little understanding of how treacherous humans can be. She doesn't get by riot and the Mari distrust each other so why they can't just set their differences aside and defeat the drone together. It's Caesar's sincerity and purity of heart. That makes the stories finale so unexpectedly stirring, especially now. Our fates are closely bound together. It reminds us as it builds a case for forgiveness, reconciliation and mutual sacrifice. The emotional power of riot and the last dragon sneaks up on you. Its lessons aren't knew exactly, but it makes you feel like you're learning them for the first time. Justin

"I super seriously. What's on your mind? Yes. Hi there. I just wanted to congratulate Mackenzie Kelly. Um I just hope that the City Council Isn't bullish tow her like they were tol in. I remember a few different times when Alan was there that They were really not nice to her, and it was very upsetting Talyn and I hope that doesn't happen because I think Mackenzie has some really good ideas and needs to be heard. She's got great ideas. She's pushing back against that de funding of police and she's gonna help. You know, she got some really great ideas when it comes to her homeless crisis, But I don't want to go easy on her. This city council going tough on Ellen Trucks, Claire made her tough. She showed how strong of Ah political force she truly is. And Mackenzie Kelly is that as well. She can. She could stand her own stand on her own 2 ft, and she'll be just fine. Susan, You're not to worry about that. She's not gonna be pushed around by this city counts definitely has her work cut out for that's for sure, but thank goodness. Thank goodness we got somebody in there. Listen, we have all kinds of stories all across the country. Oh, by the way, let's give him some business news business. Yeah, of you know Tech companies Movinto, Texas, many of them move in Austin, Texas. I mean, there's just been a wave of big companies, little companies, medium sized companies. Relocating written that U haul and come in this direction. And some of the reasons why they're fleeing places like California is because California health inspectors well, here's just one example. They got an earful yesterday when they showed up to Nick's The Greek restaurant in Ventura, California, Okay, yeah, the owner is Anton van happening and well, they didn't know why he could not service customers when Costco has hundreds of people inside their store desk down the street in a question, And I mean not just mind their groceries but actually buying the groceries, walking 20 ft over to that counter to buy pizza and hot dogs. "I love Graham Harrell statement He was asked. Why didn't the running game do very well? And he said, Well, we went 17 out 18 through for 250 yards and five touchdown. So run game. Why me? Worry. Alright. Do you care how you move the ball? You know, we talked about the importance of being able to have the run game to help balance of said that takes the pressure off. Of Keating, But we also know that we're going to take what the defense gives us in and last game. We really hadn't seen that much man coverage since Utah last year to be honest with you and well and it was not anticipating, and when we got it, we said Whoa, and we finally got the opportunity and it was consistent. Ah, lot of cover one cover three loaded boxes. Credit, Graham. I mean, that was part of the deal when he came in was coach Understand we're going. We're gonna be an execution based offense. It takes what the defense gives us. And if they they support system throat every time we'll throw it every time. Um and be able to do that. We just want to make sure that our Russian game when we do get those advantage coverage is that is that we take the pressure off the quarterback. And really quickly on the other side of the ball. You were able to move Who Fong go around a little bit. You could move some gay got movable parts where guys could play different positions is that kind of you know, go with the hottest hand put your best 11 guys out there at any given time. Well, that was our dime package and is primarily built, you know, for the looks that we were getting, especially they were entirely 10 personnel team for widespread the field if they're two by 23 by one each and every play Um and you know, so we wanted to match their athletes way have a base nickel and dime package in the dime package fit the best to be able to put the athletes out there, especially with the slot receivers. They had, um that where I credit a guy like Talyn, Noah. Who did a wonderful job, You know, he has safety, athleticism, DBS athleticism of physicality as a linebacker to S O. I knew we knew he could cover but but also to be that box player and get kids down and provide the pass rush that he provided to get the quarterback office spot really had a nice cape and the package was something We had worked in training camp first time really, to be able to bring it out. So it was on scouted. Look, and it was at the right time, Coach. Let's go get him today. See on the postgame show after it's all over the big game, Esteve, you see l A Here we go again. "They're on there after I mean, Talyn is that you know, all of these other agencies of the government normally have briefing books and presentations that they are going to deliver and presents to the incoming folks. Brian Transition team. So Brian's transition team as experts in every area of government, whether it's education, health services, defense, etcetera, and normally, they would start getting briefed by the outgoing people at those agencies. Now that is definitely not happening on DH. Normally, it would be by now it is, you know, particularly particular concern here. Obviously, the corona virus where you know the biter. Folks want to handle the virus. Very, very differently. The trouble, folks I know that they would let the biter folks would like to have more information. About what? How the virus you know is being addressed by the government right now, and they're not getting that so that you know it is a unique situation that we're heading heading into this winter with Numbers of infections dramatically riding all of the country and a realistic from the Trump Administration to start briefing the buying folks. So how will we know if she was she again? We're waiting for her to just open a door or to put a package together. This this woman again. Her name is you just gave it to me. Not only working family Murphy again, she she's happy running a sort of anonymous agency. She's a contracting experts She's not used to being, you know. In the limelight at all. Yeah, but I mean, say, but she just has to sign paperwork, and that's it so her signature could turn over millions of dollars overnight. It's basically a one page form letter. That's been the same for quite a while, and she has to sign it and again that's happened. Within hours of other previous presidential elections. Can the good Can the president actually fire her? Or would he have to fire somebody that would fire her or no gunfire? She she's She's a nominee of Trump's, and she's frankly one of the few Agency had Jews made up the whole four years. I mean, they look so far on turnover in the Cabinet. Yeah, well, the cabinet has much, much higher turn over there while the cabinet tabs and she has, you know, for the most part Just done her job and kept her head down and did the best he could, you know, mostly stayed on the news. Much chicken. Also, It is not a comfortable position for I'm sure Interesting and it's and it's worrisome, Jonathan. Great stuff. Thank you so much for your time. You stay. Well, I'll thank you to you. And that's Jonathan O'Connell from The Washington Post. This just into that bar has authorized the Department of Justice to probe quote substantial allegations of voting irregularities despite little evidence. Of fraud. Substantial allegations. You know what that is? An allegation is something based on, um, a person's opinion. I allege. But there's no voting irregularities. That's what you investigate. You don't investigate me. Trump can call for investigations and the state's Khun say. What? What? What? What do you want us to look at? You can. You can request a recount, but he don't have the money. I mean, he wants it. He says he wants to do it. And by the sea he lost by 20,000 votes in Wisconsin and hey, wanted by 20,020 16. He lost by 20,000 and 2020. He's going to lose by more than 100,000 in Pennsylvania. What do you want to look into? What were some of the voting Very large? What? What are It's going to affect the outcome of that race. Arizona. I don't know what he's going to win Blues by their maybe 5 10,000. I don't know They can ask for a recount there if he wants to, But here's the kicker about Arizona. Arizona's continued to count And the Bible's lead is whittled down. Just is that was this is what happened in Pennsylvania. Do you see the irony here? It's okay in Pennsylvania. It's okay in Arizona to keep counting votes. And this is where the protesters were getting confused in Arizona, Then one count that vote in Pennsylvania that won't stop that vote. The president is in a psychological straight that threatens the entire country. But that's not what pisses me off. What bothers me is McConnell and Graham and Cruz and Rubio, the same fab for The limited soul and values of these moral repugnance. Continue to cast a shadow on this country's progress against not only covert, but this recession. And foreign adversaries like Vlad Putin, who is a ruthless murderer. Who put a bounty on the heads of American men and women serving in Afghanistan. He put a bounty on their heads. This president. Never question Putin. He never stood up to Putin. When people doing people talk about the Russia hoax, I would say Well, tell me what the hoaxes tell me. Because all the evidence that came out of the mother report is there. If there's nothing there, why can't we read the fully UN redacted Mueller report. Why can't we hear Why the evidence that they had he was a total screw up. The FBI thought mother was going investigated and mother thought the FBI was going investigated. So they didn't They didn't attack the fact. Although all these all the facts and just follow the money, simply the money, go back and look at the YouTube videos. Of Eric Trump and Donald Trump Jr. Saying We get all our money from Russia now. This is why DeutscheBank? Well, deutschebank was loaning them money. But Frank was also laundering money in United States. They paid $100 million fine for it. Right, So Dorsett Bank is who they are Their That's their bad news. It's a bank that's hanging by a thread, and Donald Trump owes them $100 million. It just goes on and on and on and on and on. "Calling from New York. What's up, friend? Talyn. Misu. Good to hear your voice again. Thank you. It's good to be back, friend. Good to be heard in a while. You know, it's funny. The first time I was on ever you like called playback. Several months. Hundreds of pandemic it was some guy was screaming about that, Ryan, I'm just laughing. So, uh, but I want to talk baseball. I couldn't agree with you more a lot of things. You said it and it's just, you know, I feel bad for these kids that watched the game coming up today. It is so much more of a compelling game when his guys on base when you know the solo home run, just drive you crazy, But tonight was a great quest example. That bunch and that spring a base hit. That's how baseball should be played. He has a beautiful that's how baseball should be played. It's a simple approach. You move guys and he didn't try to do too much. He hit the ball right in the middle of diamonds, and that won the game, and that's Ultimately, the most important thing winning the game, not the big home runs every swing and listen, I watched the Dodger game to now Will Smith Homeland was fantastic guys on base, right? It was no pressure. Small talk about little time. The pressure pitches You know, it's just so much of a betting game to watch. Yeah. Look, I love it. I love watching the game. I don't love watching strikeouts and home runs. I want to see the game. I want to see drama and strategy and build up to it. And you're right. You get guys on base, then a big home run. Yeah, that's exciting In the heat of the moment, If you have all these solo home runs, I don't know. I mean, I don't mean to be complaining about everything that baseball does friend because I do love the sport, but it's completely change from the way that he used to be. So it's good to see a little bit of that sack Bonnet base hit, put the ball in play. It's good to see that being, you know, put in play here with Dusty Baker being one of the managers, but it's also good to see it having positive results and then winning a ballgame. He and I grew about Dusty. I mean, I for my, you know, I sort of look at the Astra like like Monica Bonds or any rock. They didn't need to do what they did they you know, and how how great would spring a look and blue and orange. I mean, God, he's just such a wedding. You know this is such a winning ball player. You know, He's got a great attitude, too. I love Springer, and he's clocked in the postseason. Yeah, I think the Mets that would be the one Friend that if I were the Mets, and I'm going to go spend money on one target, Forget Bauer and even forget real moto who have loved George Bring. It will be the one guy and I think you put him in center field and away you go. You don't worry about it. You made another point there. Oh, yeah. You're the point was a good one with comparing the Astros to bonds and a rod. You're right. They don't have to cheat. There were that good anyway, but good. Steve Cohen. Let's hope not Just one guy. I mean, you know, Well, yeah, but you don't want to build it. Yeah. You don't want to know, I know that And thanks for the coffee, and you don't want to build a team like that, though. And I don't think they're going to. I don't think Samuel, this is going to do that. You know, it's going to go out there and get Bauer and real Moto and Springer. Take him all. Yeah, I wanna know who else I don't think that they're going to do that. Nor would I recommend doing that. I would like to see them get a real catcher, a defense of catcher. I'm a little nervous about really moto because you're goingto pay Big, Big, Big, Big, Big, Big Big money Forum and I think he's on the wrong side. I think he and I we had a good year Shore year. But something about him makes me nervous. This is not Gary Carter. You know that you're getting into trade from the Expos. I'm a little nervous about Rio Moto. Somebody's gonna give that money back. Maybe it is the Mets and maybe has some great years. I just feel like I'd I'd rather build the team and I know he's great defensively as well. But I don't need to invest that much money in just defense. I'd rather go get the best defensive catcher possible. I think Perez from the Indians will be on the market. Potential. I don't know There's a team option there or not, but I'd rather get the best defense of catcher possible. And just live with that and then build my offense. Every world. And I spring it would be the guy looked to invest in Isaac is calling from New York. What's up, Isaac? Wait. If it not Isaac, How are you, sir? What's that? It's if it not Isaac. Oh, I'm sorry, says Isaac on my screen. No, if it from Massapequa and after and after I tell you the right thing to do with your niece or the sneaky walk thing, pray the autobiography that's coming out that you've got to get. It's going to be a best seller. You can look the guy. I'm looking forward to it. Okay, Tell me what I tell you. A bestseller Here is the thing that you need. The right thing to do is to go see the thing the whole deal and make mine bets on all your football games. And all the money that you would have lost. You give it to your niece. That's a great idea. And that is a great You think I'm killing you. Gave my no. My bet. Is that the best thing especially when it comes to betting sports. Holy you know what? Yeah, but how do you what you So you're just saying? What in your mind? Okay, would have done this. Oh, my God. If you only knew how you think I'm kidding you. If you knew I haven't been sports since 1986 when a bullet between Billy Buckner's legs If you knew how I had the Red Sox huge with reverse, but it's huge. Beyond huge four calls. You had the Red Sox in Game six of the 86 with our World Series with four college football teams at all one, Okay? And I had huge beyond used. Molly's if speaking, if it If this if reverse bets. Oh, my God Discredits the last time I bet sports but the truth, So I mean that that could certainly be a knockout blow. I mean, that's an old, It's an all time B. I wish that made me stop everything else but no sports. I have a bet, and it's so great to mind. But do you think you got locks on Sunday and you go? Oh, my God. Boom. They, Lewis and I will tell you if it I have done that right? Because I've had some issues with, you know, losing money, and you can't do that gambling, so I have. Okay, Let's say you get to a point where I got to stop, and then I'm watching the game thingy. Okay, would have done miss And then I watched the game play out, and it's like men, even even if the result is when the stress of getting there Is not worth it or you see the team lose. It's your right. I haven't done that enough, but I think you're I think you're onto something there. Unfortunately, there's not much more exciting than gambling. So let's put it that way. But the wrong thing to do And then you gotta let me give you this guy's about the autobiography you got to read. The wrong thing to do would be to go, of course in the morning. "Weekend on guarding a nest egg. With my cluster of Talyn Wealth management, Mike, I imagine you as a kid being kind of like a little Bart Simpson running around like, I'm sure I feel escape. He wasn't the one by the way they did that. It was the little. That's right. Like the mean kid. The bull? Yes, it was. That was definitely not you. I just mean bar had a good heart. You've got a good heart. But as a kid, I could see you. Skate around the neighborhood, maybe stern stuff up a little bit. He sort of thie Bart Simpson's kind of a plan. Dennis the menace like a sort of a new version had always say little oils watching the Dennis the Menace movie that they made Not too long ago. Yeah, it was a while ago. Now it's 20 years ago, but but that's new compared to the original Dennis. The Menace is very new compared to the original, and my four year old was howling, laughing when the flaming marshmallow Mr Wilson on the forehead. Oh, my gosh. First thing ever that is the minister. The original black and whites I used to love those. Mr. Wilson was so irritated all day long every night and Dennis's Kallick back in the black and white days. And that was a lot of product they put in there I tell you, we've been wondering a lot of things in the last couple of months. One's life going to be completely normal again. Number one, and I'm going to stop watching TV as much but number three if the economy is really struggling Why has the market kept going up? For the most part, Jeremy single of the Wharton School of Business recently gave his take on CNBC 90% plus of the value of the stock. Depends on earnings more than 12 months in the future, So that's why you can have AH, you economy, you could have a W economy and you can still have a fee stock market. So does that mean we should pay less attention to the market and more attention to something else, So he's correct markets and stock prices. It's all forward looking, and nobody knows exactly what's going to happen in the future. But also a lot of people us included Christian We're trying to predict, right. What is the probability of success in the market meaning? What's the probability markets go up? What's the probably the markets go down. That's why we're having conversations here recently about elections because we do a financial show. We know that depending on November 4th, who's president, it's goingto likely have an impact on all the markets. Now there's a lot of different ways that this can go. We can have a situation where Trump is president again. And he has very little power because you know the house and the Senate. Herschel divided right, but at least not much changes, and that's probably good for markets. We could have a situation where you know Trump's elected and he has more power because he has more control in the house in the Senate, and you know his will, and certainly he's very, very pro economy pro business. Pro limiting taxes. That sort of thing's probably good for the economy. We could also get in a situation where Biden's president But he has very, very little control right. He has all of these things that he talks about, but he doesn't really have the power to do anything about it. If he doesn't have enough control, you know with a house in the Senate, so that could potentially not be that bad for markets. As bad as his rhetoric is, when it comes to You know all the taxes he's going to put on businesses and individuals. Everything's goingto unwind might not be so bad. But it is potentially not great for markets and not great for the economy if he actually meaning. Biography actually got into office and he was able to make changes. That could be a problem. Not a problem for everybody. But it's certainly a problem for our clients, potentially because our clients are individuals that have Worked a lifetime to build a nest egg. They've grown that account. They're looking at retiring soon, so they're either very close to retirement or they're currently retired, and they're trying to find a way to make sure that their nest egg last the rest of their life Since the guarding your nest egg radio show, that's what we do, and we sit down with individuals every week to help them with that. So we've got to be very, very focused on what markets are likely to do. Moving forward. I can tell you that. Certainly I'm watching the TV and listening to the radio. I'm probably just a Zirin stated as everybody else with the rhetoric, you know the back and forth. Here lately. The most recent thing you've been watching is that the dig on Trump is well, Hey, it's not a V shaped recovery. It's a K shaped recovery ever. Yeah, I have it with my name being Christian. I'm kind of oddly excited about it. But anyway, Kristen we don't want to conquer every that means Only the rich people are benefiting. I find that hard to believe. But let's not get too political here. Let's just dig into How we can help individuals that are concerned about their portfolios, because right now together has been some recent volatility. But right now, chances are if you got good advice in your portfolio, and you've got good investments in your portfolio, you're probably have recovered, if not completely, mostly from the cove in 19 interruption that we've got, you know, back in February and March, you had to stick to your guns. It was tough, but if you got good advice, you're probably okay. Now you're wondering what's next with this election. So you got to be careful. So what I won't explain to people is, yes, markets or forward looking. But you're going to need a plan moving forward. You need to understand. How your portfolio is likely to react if we get very, very little changing government. Okay, So let's say Trump's president again, and things stay pretty much how they are right now. Where as you know, he could do some things, but he doesn't Isn't able to go out into everything he wants to do, because he's getting some pushback, right? What if that happens? Well, you need a plan for that. What, if binds, elected right? What defines elected? There's a big change. And what if he is able to implement some of the things that he's talking about when he's on the podium or when he's in a debate here in the future, or you know what if he could do that? How does it affect Your portfolio. How does it affect your retirement house? Effect your taxes? How does it affect your incoming return? These are all very, very important things so many things that we're doing right now Christian, and by the way, we don't even talk about this before the show, but in a lot of markets right now, So we're doing events, so some of the places that we work, you know, we are able to get together in groups and sit down. We're doing advanced specific to Trump versus Biden. What does that look like? Financially in the future? One of the big differences. We're also talking about it here on the radio program. I'm more than happy to explain those differences and the analysis for you personally, But I think having what we call a Christian, you know, plant a, which is.

"And we also have structured the wealth tax Es O. That avoidance is not a simple as moving to another state. And that's where it gets a little scary. He says Residents would be forced to continue paying at least a portion of the tax for 10 years after leaving California. Clearly, they're determined to get every penny they can and what's most terrifying. To me. Mike is not only does this affect your client's in California, but you've clients across the country and there's a saying It as California goes, So goes the nation. So, yeah, scary for California listeners, but really anyone listening in any state? I mean, Christian. That mentality is in minutes awful to say to someone that we like to live in our state, and you can build a retirement and you can work and you convince pure Nest egg and all these things, and then you decide to move to another state, because, frankly, you don't agree with their tax laws at some point in time, But they have some sort of claw back provisions that by the way, if you if you moved to another state, then we're gonna I'm not politicians. Christian has to help the stuff. Yes, you are. I would be shocked if first of all, he could pull it off. Here's the thing. It's scary. That is scary. And if I've spent my life working in California And I hear somebody talking about that. And I'm getting pretty close to retirement. I get a little nervous. Absolutely. Yeah. I mean, that's not why you're doing it for However many years you gonna just keep calling back, so let's take a look, You know, really, really close. And regardless of whether you're in California or anywhere else, I mean, we have states in the nation where there are state taxes and Politics or maybe a little different miracle but more aggressive, one way or the other. If you're moving into retirement, you have to make the decision whether or not you're going to continue to live where you are, and just go ahead and deal with the taxes and how it works. Because you love it so much or move to states that are more favorable tax wise. I mean, So why do people move to states like Nevada or Florida or any other state where they don't have state taxes? I mean, why wouldn't you night, right? I mean, the weather is pretty good. Things were pretty nice. Some retired upcoming nest egg. You know, looking to be successful in retirement. We define that as maintaining your current standard of living, adjusted for inflation and taxes, moving forward. That's nuts. But I can understand how people could be concerned about it. And this just goes into the entire financial planning process person we most people think and rightfully so. We think about financial planning when it comes to our portfolio. What is our performance going to be in our portfolio? How much are we going to earn every year? How much risk are we taking? But when we get into the state taxation on things that are going on with the government, we have to worry about how am I going to be taxed on those earnings? And that was my Cost of living going to be And if your cost of living is less somewhere else, obviously, you're going to be may be interested in doing that, as long as it's I don't know You're not too far away from your family, and it's a big apartment. So all things being said, understanding taxes and what they're likely to be moving for understanding your portfolio and how it's like it's before moving forward. All this insert streaming important and this is why we encourage individuals toe understand. Their portfolio. So for a lot of people were talking to every single week person that's just there for one K or therefore three. Be there. IRA accounts are sort of a thing. What's likely to happen, moving forward. How much risk are you taking? What's your average Anna return going to be? Is that risk reward matrix in your best interest. In other words, I want the highest rate of return I can get. I just don't want to take more risk than any do to get that return. All these things are very important and then you have to put it into a financial plan. So For anybody who's listening. Whether you're in California, you know, a state that potentially is higher taxes. Whether you're in a state with maybe you don't have any state taxes. It's all important and it's all you know, potentially likely to change moving forward here, you know, come November forward, so If you want answers to your portfolio, and you'd like that written financial plan. Just give us a call. We can set up an appointment with you personally, We can do it Virtually, however, you're most comfortable every most comfortable. What we can do it where we get you a Analysis of your current portfolio and a complimentary financial plan, and we can do that for you pretty quickly. Kirsten. If you'd like to take advantage of that again, however, you're most comfortable to make sure that you are prepared when it comes to the what ifs with the election taxes and how they are affecting your retirement or potentially could Reach out to Mike and the team and get that plan A and that Biden plan If you're over the age of 50, and you have a 401 K, you are exactly who he and the team help Talyn Wealth management every single day pound to 50 on your cell phone. "I'm sure more to come. It's now considered one of the most influential TV shows of all time. And we appreciate you listening this weekend to guarding your nest egg with Mike Lester of Talyn Wealth Management. I'm a Star Trek fan. You obviously have to be a Star Wars fan. I mean, you named your son, Luke, and I believe there's been Halloween costumes for the family involving this may be my son, Luke. For a long time, eh? I love starts. You do I do. I don't know that I do. Love Star Trek could go down that rabbit hole but also start worse is great. And but I did not Christian. Oh, not name Luke Luke, because I love Star Wars Mohr than Star Trek. Well, we have a mutual friend Robert and his son is named Luke and their dog is named Leah. I'm just saying people do science included two. Let's go this way. My last name is Lester and I just thought Katie and I got together and said That's a cool name. Luke. Lester at this school had zero to do with, um, start. I do not have a daughter named Leia and I have to just you know. Well, his is a dock. But still I just for dogs. I don't have a dog named Leia. Either. You can't make assumptions. This is what I'm learning today, folks and wait here. You can catch up with Mike of the team anytime. In fact, there's some pretty cold videos that include Mike and his family. You can see his wife, his kids and kind of how they lived their life and just get to know him better than I do. Apparently at guarding your nest egg dot com. But let's get serious. Let's talk taxes. I mean, remember the story about California lawmakers proposing an increase Their income tax rates. Well, they were just getting started. Now Assembling man. Rob Bonta also wants a statewide wealth tax. And he tells Fox business. He's not worried that wealthy residents might try to avoid the tax by moving away in California. We've had taxes on millionaires. In the past, We raised taxes in 2012 by 3%,.

No charge at all, And you can also set that up and find out more by visiting guarding your nest egg dot com. So as we talk about all these different options that we sometimes face think about this. Which would you prefer to investor retirement money in companies that are hopefully going to earn you the most money or to invest in companies because you feel warm and fuzzy, and they support a particular social are environmental cause Okay, I get it. Yes. You want to be a part of something good, But this is a question that's at the heart of an ongoing debate about retirement plan administrators. For some reason. Now, the Labor Department is proposing a rule that would force them to go with the higher rate of return. Seems like a no brainer to me, Mike. I want need more money. It's not greed issue. It's my retirement. I need to provide for myself. I mean, the social and environmental causes. I care about that, but not at the risk of hurting myself. Christian, I I agree with you. I think most of serving our clients. I think most of them agree on occasion I get somebody will see me. Listen, Mike. We want to make sure that none of the investments that were in invest in a particular Country. I mean, one that's come up would be China, right with everything going on in China, and they say, Listen, we really, really want to work with you. But we want to make sure that none of the investments that you put us and have anything to do with China ever any time in a million years. Well, can we build that? But for the Christian Yes, we can. But I agree with you That also kind of distracts us from this idea of active management distractions from this idea of Looking as fiduciaries for our clients to get them the highest rate of return possible NEDA fees and working so fiduciary just means say, Listen, if there are 10 or 20, or 100 investment options out there. And all those investment options. Let's say 10 of them essentially did the same thing. Okay on, they all had about the same average rate of return. But one out of the 10 had the least amount of risk and least amount of fees as a fiduciary. We're required by law to promote that investment to the client, because technically it's the most efficient investment. Okay, so a fiduciary or a fee based advisor Works for a fee to help you manage and grow your portfolio. I share portfolio does well, we do Well. If your portfolio is poorly, we do poorly, So we have a vested interest in our clients doing well. So if we, you know, start looking at this. I don't know the first thing that comes to mind when when we do this Christian, and I'm stretching here a little bit. But you know, AOC and the green new deal and we're going to electric airplanes. And I mean, sometimes it just doesn't make any sense. Right now. There's just no common sense behind that. It sounds good. Right. And I I I'm just like anybody else. I like the warm, fuzzy feeling of, you know, not polluting and I go out of my way to in a small way that Hey, listen, if you know there's a piece of trash is not mine. I pick it up in the garbage can. I mean they're little things, But when it comes to my my nest egg and my livelihood and everything else? No. I don't want to invest in companies that are polluting the earth or poisoning. People, you know, are cutting down the Amazon or something like that. The water's could get really, really muddy. If you spend all your time trying to avoid every single thing that might be bad at some point in the environment and realized Christian, the phone's going to ring in about two seconds about you. It's that really, really small percentage of the population that really hates what I'm talking about right now tonight. I think most of us can agree. We want to do the right thing. But we want to do it in a responsible way for our own personal economy and our own personal best interest. We don't want to hurt people. What we gotta look for the most efficient investments. Essentially, that's what we're doing. We'll look at the bottom line when it comes to investing. How can you get the highest rate of return with the least amount of fees and the least amount of risk? We don't want to hurt anybody We don't want to do, including along the way, But if you spend too much time worrying about whose toes you're going to step on, it starts with a little bit of a problem. So happy to have a conversation with you about how weaken save the planet may have an impact on your portfolio. We could do that. But for the most part, we're going to work as fiduciaries. And do what's best for our clients. A lot of people are wondering about entertainment investing, and that being a trend we're going to address that coming up next. But if you would like Mike and the team to dive in to what's happening in your portfolio, if issues like that are important to you, they can look at it. But most importantly, they're concerned with your personal risk versus reward and making sure that your efficient with your portfolio now and moving forward your fees or reasonable for what you're receiving and value. And that you're able to pay yourself to the lifestyle you've become accustom or that you're looking forward.

"And even a couple of opportunities, and we will look at K through 12 and higher education in southeast Wisconsin and throughout the entire state. Of Wisconsin. We begin on the health side of it. It's at the forefront of everything when we discuss education and what's likely to happen in the next month or so. Luis Wilson is the state school nurse. He's a health services consultant for the Department of Public Instruction, and she has concerns and issues and began our conversation. So when you think about what's likely to happen in our classrooms and in our buildings beginning in less than a month from now, what's it the top of the list of the things that you're concerned about? Well, obviously, at the top of my list is making sure that students and staff are safe and they you know, in today's world means safe from the cold and virus are really as safe as possible because there is no truly way to be safe from the virus as long as there is And he spread and as long as there is in town, you know any vaccine or viable treatment. At this time you say, stay safe from the virus, and I know you've been working with district's on that. Are there specific things are there specific touchpoints, other specific areas of concern that you have when you think about a classroom or an educational setting. Well, yeah, you know the guidance that the department public construction has been given giving eyes always in conjunction with the Department of Health Services because I am of the department public instructions only health care consultant at the D P I. So where we work very closely in conjunction with that with VHS and therefore, you know, we're going to be saying the same messages and the things to keep people safe are the same mitigation measures that you've been hearing from public health and that Mom is again the use of physical, distancing the use facial coverings proper and hand hygiene and cough etiquette. Removing sick individuals or people who are exposed, keeping them out of school, sending them home from school. They need to be keeping them in isolation until they're no longer contagious. All those measures and particularly than you know, kind of extra cleaning precautions. All those measures air you know what's going to be required to make the school environment as safe as possible. As a health care, professional and closer to the data and the protocols and all the rest of us. Do you believe 100% in person learning can happen safely today with where we are? There might be parts of Wisconsin and I'll just, you know, keep my remarks to Wisconsin parts of Wisconsin, where that might be. Ah, possibility again. It's going to be looking at what The community spread is how many people in your you know Talyn Municipality County have cooled it 19 and how it's been spreading it in your community and then also just really on the physical. Status of your building. Are you able to do social distance? And there are some schools where social distancing and because of the number of students have their enrollment? It's not going to be a really difficult deal to do social distance In some, you might not have very much committee spread. But you're and have students really crammed together. So you know, it really depends on the situation. I think you know not only the spread of the disease, but also how you're able to set up your building because they And social differences, obviously using official covering something that that everybody can do with exceptions, and and again, I think people conduce with hand hygiene and coffee at a kid and cleaning, But you know, if you do those things, I think that it is possible to do. In person. For some situations, it's not going to be and for some individuals or students and staff, it's just not going to be safe to do in person instruction again, while we have cool in 19 and white circulation. Louise. I want to play a clip from you. We submitted questions or rather receive questions from some of our listeners. I want to play this for you and then ask you to. It's a comment on the police. Listen to this for us. If Children cannot transmit over 19 between themselves very readily and has even shown that Children cannot transmit it to Gulf. Very readily. The only question that is far astern. Officially, Grace will specifically would be teacher to teacher. So isn't it really a small number of people that released abilities concentrate on as faras the transmission in grade school? All right, Louise. What are your thoughts on that? You know if what he was saying was true, and we knew that to be definitely true, I would say yes that we wouldn't need to concentrate more on school staff. The reality is is that we don't really know. There are several studies out there the latest We're not even actually the latest but one of them. The South Korean study, which with a large study kind of refuted that and said. That you know, transmission does happen among younger Children. I know that some of the county public health on department mediums I listened to and see their data. They are seen transmission and they are seeing younger Children under age nine. Get cold in 19. So I don't think that that we know that we could say that that It does not happen, in course, as we're seeing in the news with, you know, some of the summer camp and what's happening in Georgia schools with it being transmitted. We just don't know that.

"To set up that complete financial plan. However, you're most comfortable found 2 50 keyword nest egg. And any time at guarding your nest egg dot com. You're speaking of taxes and retirement, Mike. I came across something that was a little surprising. An article said that retirees can still put money into a Roth IRA. We were just talking about Roth IRAs only count would have something to do with in complaining. Let's start let's here but at the same time I thought that you could only do that before you were retired. So I'm confused, but What it's still paid to move retirement funds into a Roth even in our sixties and older, though, so it's a great question, Christian and this is getting really, really popular. Now. With a few minutes ago, we referred to Cove it and all the stimulus and What are tax rates going to look like in the future? Listen, we all know we have to pay for this. At some point in time. I can't get to 26 trillion and national debt and just have it keep ticking up now, politicians like Keep kicking this You can down the road and down the road down the road because it's going to be uncomfortable for anybody to address. But let's take a look at it this way. Let's say Donald Trump wins the presidency and he's got four more years and he's not going to get four years after that, right. We only get a everybody knows that Taking the time to tackle something like the national deficit. National debt in your second term is not a bad idea because you're not running for re election again. So whether it's trump or whether somebody else who has to address this issue it's goingto have to be addressed. And if we wantto relate that back to Roth accounts versus non Roth accounts. That's where you would look at it. Because Roth accounts are not going to be taxed. It doesn't matter what tax rates are one year from now, two years from now, five years from now, 15 years from now. Once that money is in the Roth account and growing, you never pay tax on it again. So back to the original question. How does somebody who's retired? And what that means is you don't have earned income, so the key for making contributions to most retirement plans that initial contribution Whether it's a Roth accounting diary account before one K account. What have you is the earned income Now you're retired. How do you make a contribution? You do what's called a conversion. And so the nice thing about the conversions As you can go from for one K to Roth Ira, you Khun go from traditional IRA to a Roth IRA. You don't have the same limits that you do for contributions. So somebody who's over the age of 50 could make a contribution of $7000 to Roth IRA or a traditional IRA, and they may want to go ahead and do that. But somebody who's retired Christian, It doesn't matter. I mean, they could have a $1,000,000 sitting in there for a one day and I could call me and they say, Hey, Mike. I don't want this for. Okay. I'm worried about taxes in the future. I want to pay taxes at today's rates Move my 401 K into a Roth IRA account. If they ask, Can I do that? The answer would be yes. If they asked, Should I do that? The answer's probably No. Because in doing so, you just got a $1,000,000 worth of income, all that distribution of status, ordinary income. And you probably paid a lot more taxes than you need to. That's why, when we work with Roth conversions, it's a process. You know, we control the whole thing that maybe it's you know a little bit each year over Siri's of years, depending on Other sources of income that you have sweetmeat the tax rate low, but probably a good idea to take a really close. Look at that, particularly if you're an individual, and by the way, I did extent fall into this category. If you're concerned about what tax rates are going to be in the future, and you don't want to get stuck taking required minimum distributions on something as taxes, ordinary income taking a look at this Roth conversion is a good idea. Give us a call. We'll do a complete Roth conversion analysis for you along with the financial planning, and we'll let you know if you're a good candidate for it. It's really easy to do that you'd all pound to 50 on your cell phone. When you're asked for the key word. All you do is, say nest egg and you will be immediately connected to Mike or another team member off the air to set up that complete financial plan that CF $1500 value. But you will get another team member ofthe Talyn wealth management, not a call center off the air to set up that complete financial plan. Frankly, I Just a couple days ago, I had a conversation with Bonnie and she said, Hey, listen, I've been working with this adviser have been paying him a fee. I asked him attacks question and they just told me to go call my Sita. But she didn't like it. Not that her adviser is attacks professional, but she wanted her advisor to have the resource is to provide the answer or the solution. Not just say, You know what? That's over my pay grade even though she's ma'am. You go find that answer out for yourself. You just didn't feel like she was getting the service of all that that she liked. "Sarah can look, I'm a minority is only 15 million Jewish people in the world. That's it. I'm a minority, so I'm set up with the African Americans. That hate Jews, and they just say it and not know it immediately. Okay, listen, and don't think your comments are respected and don't think and you're not alone. You and I would defer Andi, I could understand if there was punishment by Philadelphia and there hasn't been. I think they realized its war ignorance. I just don't think he has. Don't think it's ignorance. He knew what he was saying. I don't give him a pass. Just like a white person doesn't get a pass when they say something, even not even near to an African Americans get fired immediately, So I'm not giving this guy a path. Okay. All right. Towards my Jewish communities in he incited violence. This is quite serious. Oh, there's no question. There's no track record. There's no one No, no, no, You're no no, I don't mean to argue with you. I just mean to write something else up. There is, words are hurtful. The actions are even worse. But here's the thing. Listen to me closely. The comments are absolutely 100% understood and respected and you were right about the hypocrisy and the double standard. A. Somebody like Charles Barkley could say whatever she wants to say, and he gets a raise out of it, or he gets another job opportunity out of it. Although I find him very entertaining. He doesn't bother me that because he's this is the way some entertainment is today. And, yes, I understand if you take some of the words that were said by him or anyone else, literally. You could be very offended. I think Charles Barkley is a humanist. I think he doesn't have hate in his heart except for Michael Jordan. But you know what? I'm talking first of all your comments are respected. And I thank you for making them and God bless you. I'm sure there are many, many Jewish people. I just I don't think he understood what he was doing now. Maybe I'm totally wrong. And maybe I'm ever just being too too easy going about the whole thing. It's all it was awful. Just absolutely the worst, referencing Hendler and Louis Farrakhan. And but I don't think he understood. I am giving him the benefit of the doubt there. However, if he got fired, I would understand it if he got suspended. I would understand it. What I want to hear if there is no penalty, no consequences to what he had to say by the Eagles, and the Eagles came out with an organizational statement. You know his opinions or whatever. It was deplorable and inexcusable and hateful, and we're not that kind of an organization, but they haven't fired him. And they have a cut him and then the NFL. What are they going to do that I haven't heard or read anything from the NFL about what he had to say. And even if they are not going to suspend him, I'd like to know why. But personally between you and me, eed. I don't see any track record of hate. I don't see any any track record other than what he had to say here. And the bottom line is, I would I just think he is ignorant. You want to put a stupid stupid is, you know better, And you do something stupid like I would do or anyone would do. I think with the ignorance, he just what doesn't have a clue with where he was going, And I think he needs to be informed and educated. If he is willing to go through that with members of the Jewish community and the Philadelphia area, then I would feel a lot better, and I think he is willing to meet With a number of Jewish officials representing a number of Jewish organizations where they might be able to change his mind about any kind of posting with anything Farrakhan or referencing Hitler in it, But can I understand the outrage from some Jewish people are not just Jewish people. There have been a lot of there have been reaction and response from a lot of other people who are not Jewish. About how awful the whole thing Wass. I just don't think he's the brightest light in the room. I just don't think that he had any kind of awareness of what he was saying. And listen and I and I certainly respect those air going tto feel different about it and have Ah, We've already taken a couple of calls from some people who want to see him fired. And reprimanded over, But so far the Eagles haven't done anything true him and I'm anxious to see and what, whether they do something, whether they find him whether they suspend him. I think they may also realize that ignorance prevails here. More than hate. And I think the Jewish community in Philadelphia is willing to extend themselves to educate and inform will see how that goes. 18773 The 18773376666 number to call in the Fan New York Talyn Fair, tired Connecticut's largest.

"Be connected to Mike or another team member at Talyn Wealth Management That's pound to 50 on your cellphone, keyword nest egg. Guarding your nest egg dot com. Mike, this is something I'd never heard before. But Kiplinger says one of the principles of investing is that once you win the game you stop playing. In other words, Once you accumulate your target amount of money for retirement, there's no need to stay in the market. Does this make sense to you as a financial advisor? Well, depends on your goals. So you and I were talking about this a little bit for the radio program and my wife and I are very different when it comes to investing. Certainly we have Gal's together, but she has her own individual goals. When it comes to investing in retirement, her sort of number she wants to get to. I have my number I want to get to overall we won't accomplish the same goal, which is Maintaining our standard of living in retirement. Adjusted for inflation tax is moving forward, but I have a very, very strong belief in what markets Khun do for me and our investments over time. She. On the other hand, if she gets to her number right and the number that's in her head, she'd be happy, getting 5% for the rest of her life on that number, as long as she knew that 5% was always coming in, so I believe personally, I can do better than that. In markets. I'm going to take on more risk and there's gonna be more volatility, but I do believe long term. I could do better. Here's the great thing about financial planning, particularly when you're active in the management of these plants. There's actually room for both. Okay and Katie can have what she's looking for. I can have. What I'm looking for is long as I have done the planning to make it work. As long as I've been the planning to understand our investments, a song as I understand taxes and inflation probabilities moving forward. We'll have a successful financial plan, and I think that's what most people are looking for. When you get to that number, or at least you think it's that number. You just want to know that you're on the right track and you've got the right plan, and we can do that through financial planning. So whichever way you want to approach that you still need to know the numbers and where you stand. Ah complete financial plan. Helping you if you're retired, or 59 a half older find out. If this type of active wealth management could help you be more confident now.
