"Other. Does it get any better than Ken squire, guys? Just incredible stuff. Love to hear him talking about it. I'm not sure why I waste my time trying to paint a picture of how great this day is when I could just listen and explain. I found him in New England. I mean, that's how I fell in love with racing, going to his race track, thunder road over from Vermont and listen to him, call the action down here and in the southern series. It's amazing. Yeah, just as voice is enough, but his knowledge is just incredible about all forms of motor sports. And he's just passionate about it. You can feel that in every word that he says. Kindling, we're thinking about you enjoy watching all the races on Sunday from your couch right, let's break down the Indy 500 a little bit. Boy Steve mentioned it, DJ, hard to handicap. I mean, this field is stacked. So what's impressed you from practice? Oh, I think the biggest thing is Chip Ganassi racing. Just every car. I mean, you put a rookie, even though he's a 7 time NASCAR champion and a car that runs so well and so fast and hand all that. That shows you the potential of what they have. But I've also noticed in practice as they get race ready, just how drastically things change and then other drivers come into the mix. And I mean, the guy, Scott Dixon, he shows up every single time there's a big event he can go fast and he's smart enough to know how to get to the end of this and give himself a chance. Steve, it's going to be a lot of talk about fuel mileage versus running up front. This weekend, so what do you think about that mix? Because that's going to be a topic, probably the topic during the race. Your face or likeness only gets put on the Borg Warner for leading the last lap of the Indianapolis 500. Don't let your ego confuse yourself for the other 199. That's my strategy. Fuel mileage. It's not exciting for some. It's not the lead storyline. People don't want to talk about it. But that pit stand must run the race, not the driver. The driver drives, it has to come from the pit stand. You have to save fuel. You have to stay near the front, but you can not get behind. It doesn't matter how fast you are. If you could take an extra tip down pit road or put more fuel in the last stop, day over. You and I spent the weekend on the peacock pit box. You have an under the radar pick. We're going to get our favors here. Okay, second. So I have two under the radar. I got an under the radar name and great equipment. Marcus Ericsson not many people talk about the sneaky Swede. But I believe he easily could be an Indy 500 champ, and then another gentleman who joined us all the time hasn't shown politely any speeds by himself in single car, but put him in a pack. He had a chance last year until the wheel fell off Graham Rahal. Wow. I believe he has. He has a lot of savvy. If you get up there and it gets dicey, you talked about fuel. Mileage, he can manage the day. We asked you guys on Twitter for your pick, so you guys, tons of votes, credit to our producer, Aaron Phelps, and he counted every one of them. Wow. Max first happened was your pick for Monaco, Scott Dixon by far your pick. I shouldn't say by far. It's got dicks in your pick. Jimmy Johnson was close second for the Indy 500 Martin Truex Junior. Our buddy Ken squire, we asked him for his pick for the Coke 600. He picked Martin Truex Junior. So I want to hear your picks, DJ. Your Hall of Famers get the tea box first. Give us your weekend picks. All right, well, I'm gonna go with the majority there and I'm gonna take max for to win the Formula One race. I'm going with Takuma Sato. I've always finds himself in the mix there and I'm going with Kyle in the 600. There's a couple comments. Okay, good. All right. It was hard. So I agree with everyone's pillow. I think he has some quiet hands. He can do it. And then Kyle Larson. I'll take the other cow. I took Leclair agreeing with diffie. Pillow is my pick would copy each other's paper and also Kyle Busch. Michelle on Monday we'll see you back here on Wednesday to recap all that happened..

"And I'm learning a race in back in 2007, 12 really challenging for the win for the one of the biggest and established the team and established a driver. I think we should be proud with that moment. And if I could do that, was it right equipment with right environment, I will have it next time. So that's why it's thinking. And then after one chicharron, yes, of course I reviewed a million times and then I would do differently. You know, definitely. And then I was just waiting that opportunity, learning, experience, and then just waiting for it. But always try to find the opportunity to come back to the 500. And 5 years later, yes, I had a final lastly at an equal equipment with the one of the top team in Android Osbourne. And then I had a Fernando Alonso teammate and Lion trail Alexander losses and Mark Andrew cheese and so on and so on. How do you as well? It was just great organization. I just believed I could do the job. And I just never stopped to believe in myself for that because of that. You won your two 500s with obviously two different teams, but also two, very different kind of cars, the ugly by the factory Erica in 2017. And then the car in 2020 with you had to learn the aerospace. Dale green, first of all, we initially, when I thought not clicking, this is honest feeling. But you just can't deny with a safety. The driver, especially for the open wheel cockpit, it be threatened for frying deadly all the time. Imagine they search as a two gram of the bolt in 230 mph. It is like a bullet. So it is really important to have I'm sure this is next generation thing. So we have also no option as well. So yes, we have observed it. We accept it, and then we go. If you save. And that's great thing. I think that's a fantastic thing. But the one hand, there is one thing on the driver lost ability is a field the wind. We need some very, very big parts of sense. Let me send the allies. So when he into the corner, your stream less than light is different. It's kind of jet stream, isn't it? Is it generalized? Is your inch away from the helmet? And there there about you can feel it. When you have a single car toe or double cut or triple car to all 15 cars toe, it's all different. And that's not just this come from the steering and the pure tie grid, but also the body feels the wind pressure as well. So that's I lost it. So I think initially I felt this is a very important part. And I was just kind of losing it. But for example, sports car program or other, the GTs and all the stuff also they don't have that sense either. So there must be the way you can redirect your feeling to connect reconnect with what you need for the driving the car fast. And then I assume just to be able to adopt it. But still some little missing part is just the airstream. And today I'm getting used to, but I still missing that one. I think that's for me, it was important. Nowadays, probably even I say important but just there's no way to come back. But I think the idea of school needs a great thing for the safety and you just have to live with it in how you go faster. Last word before we let you go Charles, anything you want to finish off with and ask to come up? I just wonder what the style of racing is going to be like and this Memorial Day. We're going to see a race where you're going to be able to make some moves, get some good runs with this car or you expecting maybe the racing might be a bit more follow my leader and the strategy might be the biggest part of the road. It's tough to say, strategy is one thing. But as I said, I think it's 500 miles race. Anybody could strategize. It is no point because by halfway through the yellow, it's all your strategy with Lumin. But maybe the last two distinct perhaps you can do a little crever things, but I believe still believe that unless unless it's a green truck condition, you will see it really tight bottle. Like last year, Alex and a Helio shoulder. And so did every single year. It is extremely difficult to overtake compared to in the past, but still you can't overtake. And particularly the first two guys be able to slap the position, relatively easy. So I believe in a white fluff issue you're leading the race. It's not guaranteed for the win either. So watch out the wind direction. And then watch out who you are racing, but you will have extremely exciting rest for sure. Right on, sounds like a exciting as 2012. Hopefully with a better outcome for you. Thank you. Well look, guys, thank you very much for joining us on the podcast today. First of our preview episodes and fascinating to start to get into what I think for many of our European listeners as well that are maybe used to a shorter format of a racing weekend or even a one day event just to start to the excitement that builds around this event and how it's much more than just a couple of days. Well, that's our first show done and in the books. Thank you very much for listening and make sure you tune in for the next one..

"Moves himself into the top five. What a great pass by Alexander Rossi. I was thinking Joseph New Garden on those Reds. The top four of blacks. Rossi, also of blacks and Joseph, New Garden, unable to take advantage, So move Alexander Rossing that fifth position back up front. Graham Ray Hall, your leader. As the exits turn Number seven. He has a four colleagues advantage over at Joe's Jack Harvey in third. So check The pace of Graham Ray Hall as we talked about a little bit more ginger on fuel, perhaps, but he has Jones behind him. And then it's Jack. Harvey. They are really spaced out right now. Let's call it three car links between each of them in the fourth place. Runner is Alex. Polo is everybody works their way cleanly. Now through turn number 10. Maybe what you think about that Move by Alexander Rossi. Yeah, Great. Great past. We've seen that earlier in the Indy lights raised by Kirkwood, where two drivers that kind of tangled up down there and turn one or 25 position. The third one just passing them. Both did a great job on that a little bit of a brave move, but he made it work didn't touch anything. Anybody leaders are exiting tournament three. Yeah, Everything's starting to settle down as Graham Rail has about four car length advantage over edge. Does Harvey's there and then it's Alex below. In that fourth position. Rossi fifth that it's Joseph. New Garden. Six Got. Dixon is seventh and a couple of Carl Expect to Takuma Sato. But grab rail guys thus far. Good. Restart. Good second lap as we went back to Green battle might be for second, though, Jake worry as Jack hardly started to pressure at Jones. Jack Harvey, looking in on edge, Jones call it to Carly. We keep an eye on that. Scott McLaughlin also Made a Rossi type move on that last lap coming into turn number one that got him past Potter award Significant from a point standpoint, that puts McLaughlin into the 13th position. Speaking of award more on him for Brian Marine Yeah, Jake. Just before he got passed by Scott McLaughlin. He came over the radio and said, We need power. Then McLaughlin pulled up alongside and past him and he said, What's going on? It seems that we're checking on it, but possibly something amiss with the power delivery for the five car, Michael. Here comes Alexander.

"J. C W. Johnson City, Tennessee, W M. R. E in Charleston, West Virginia and W I am A in Lima, Ohio. Davey Hamilton. Feels like this caution could have timed out perfectly for some not so good for others. Let's talk a little bit about the strategy. First of all, How do you think this affects our new race leader Graham Ray Hall? Well, I think may her grandma. Unfortunately, we'll just have to wait and see. Now he needed about six laps of fuel to get to the end of this race. If this caution goes six laps and may benefit him, it just depends on how long this yellow is going to be. Who I think it definitely advantage is the guys we talked about that went off course. The first lap Pelo Dixon Rossi Rosenquist because they were barely going to make it on feel barely with this yellow and helps them they'll just stay on their strategy. They already made their first pit stop under yellow. They just stick with what they're doing. It may advantage those as well. So because when we see that the ones that came in which was award dating power for those that fit again, they cannot make it to the end anyway, so they're going to have to put again. So what you're saying is those guys that thought they were being slick jumping on pit lane right before the caution, they still got to pitch again. And now they've lost all track position to Dixon. And that's right. They lost track position. You remember work still in 12. A lot of things can happen up in front of him. But I really think that with him having to make one more stop and majority of the drivers in front of them, including Ray Hawk and possibly with this yellow, like I said, it needs to be a long yellow grams, praying for a long yellow. I don't know that it will be because it's just too offs. But the longer the better for Graham, but the ones that may take advantage of Pelo for sure. Dixon for sure. Rossi Rosenquist heard of those drivers. They should just be able to stay on their normal strategy. Be okay for more on the strategy involving our race leader Graham Ray Hall. Let's go back to Pit Lane and Ryan Marine The radio channel. To this point, guys indicates that they do think this fits into their strategy. All right. They are having Graham save some fuel here Under this yellow. There's still crunching some numbers to make sure that they feel like this shook out the way that they initially thought, but If that is indeed the case, they are quite confident that this did fall into their hands. They asked Graham just a moment ago. How is the tire deg been, he said. It's been good, just a little bit of a problem with a slight bit of wear on the left front win on Reds. That's what they will keep an eye on. But all in all everyone quite calm and optimistic here in the hotel camp for Graham, Ray Hall, David how about the day for Joseph New Garden pitted four laps after Ray Hall, but still five laps prior to guys like below, and Dixon he finds Himself in fifth has Tim cigarette. Have they kind of worked a little magic here to get him up into the top five? Yeah, You know, I don't know if it's magic her luck because drivers being sent to the back and new garden was already back there. They made that initial pit stop early on to this race under yellow Elect 10. I think it was nine or 10. Then go back grain to like 11 or 12. So it right now, as I said, when I was going if it's state grain, and oh, man, this this is going to fall into all those drivers hands with blow leading that pack. I figured that he had a really good opportunity think he still does? But don't forget Jack Harvey is in front of polo. He pitted on lap 40. He's with this yellow. It may give him enough fuel to make it to the end with that one more stop as well. Yeah, your leader's They kind of cycle out based on how they pitted Graham Ray Hall pitted on lap 35 at Jones was able to go to lapse longer on 37 Harvey. With three laps longer until lap 40. And then you've got that group that is only alternate strategy. Starting with Alex below. Who is your points Leader as they run right now. Three markers over Pato Awards 16 over New Garden 38 over Dixon and 71 over Marcus Ericsson. Your top five here in the Grand Prix of Portland Grammar Hall, Ed Jones, Jack Harvey, Alex Below and Joseph New Garden as we work the second full course caution. We've had six different leaders today. Seven lead changes as we have also reached The halfway point of this event. 55 laps in 55 laps to go running at six. Joseph New York City's got Nixon New Garden runs in the fifth. Alexander Rossi is seventh. Masada was eight. Felix Rosenquist is nine. Colton Heard of is 10th some of the lap leaders today Pato award has led 28 laps. Grammar hall 18 laps on the day, Jack Harvey and Scott Dixon of both lead three laps at Jones with two biggest movers from their initial starting position. How about Takuma Sato? He is Plus 18 on the day from the back of the pack up to the eighth spot. Jack Harvey has had a nice day. He is plus 17. And then as we mentioned Joseph New Garden started 18th today, but he has found his way to the top five. He is plus 13 and fastest lap of the race so far has been turned. By Rina Speak a at a minute flat. The lights are off of the pace car. It was relatively quick cleanup Davey Hamilton, So it's just going to be fascinating to see the good news program Ray Hall We saw he could go long during that first stint. But ultimately you're saying the question is, Can he go long and make just one more stop? Or is it going to be tight to make two? He I think you'll really have to say fuel from now to end this race, but what better place to be in that safe fuel, But In the lead. Making the other other drivers try to catch you and passed. Everybody behind him has more fuel than if everybody, including second place as two more laps than him. Harvey and third place has five more laps than he does flow has four more so RAM could be in the driver's seat is all about feeling right now, they all have one more stop to make it to see if he could save a few on this yellow J Query Pace car is pulling away from.

Scott Dixon Felix Rosenquist Jack Harvey Takuma Sato Alex Below Davey Hamilton Graham Ray Hall Marcus Ericsson Alexander Rossi Graham Ed Jones 18 laps David Ray Hall Rossi Rosenquist 55 laps 28 laps 71 10th third place

"At Portland International Raceway is the Grand Prix of Portland. And we are watching a slugfest mid pack as Marcus Ericsson just past Jack Harvey and Harvey has got his hands full. Michael as Sebastian Bourdais, taking a look at the inside Sebastian board Day tried to get around, Marcus, Eric said, in turn number seven last time. But for whatever reason, these blacks are not to Jack Harvey's liking. He held on as long as he could for his first pit stop. And now he's stacking up behind him. Sebastian Bourdais. We'll look to the inside of Jack Harvey going into turn number seven, and he will make that pass. So now Harvey tried to defend make his way back around board A, but he won't be able to do it. And now the question for Jack Harvey becomes. Does that mean read his feet will be the next to bring him in until those tires are two. Jack Harvey's like it. Sebastian Bourdais has gotten around Jack Harvey that puts board a into the 15% position again. Keep in mind different sequences on track Right now leader is Scott Dixon with Alex Below, and Alexander Rusty running 2nd 3rd and Alex Wolff. The reason Jack Harvey is struggling because he is on cold tires. Moments ago, he gave up the lead to make a pit stop. And Jack Harvey relinquish. Leading the Grand Prix of Portland went off the Reds and blacks was an 8.6 2nd pit stop while meanwhile, counter daily is written for new rubber as well. He was joined as well by Oliver asked you this lap, so David now we're starting to see that second group. These are guys that maybe got hit with penalties due to blowing the first couple corners at the start of the race that topped off on lap number nine. Daily in we have seen Oliver ask you in. You would expect Scott Dixon as well. In fact, as soon as I say That. Here comes Scott Dixon. As well as Alexander Rossi. Dixon brings that PNC Bank car to pit lane as they run Ryan Marine. He is third in the championship, 44 points back. It's going to be a site exit for Scott Dixon, because Alexander Rossi is pitted right in front of him. Rossi slides to a home the crew helping Dixon clear him. They do so now the pit stop continues for Alexander Romney, both of them on the primary. Black tires pit stops complete, so pitting out appealing out, I should say Scott Dicks. Alexander Rossi, as well as Colton Herta has pitted. We anticipate Alex below Felix Rosenquist and willpower. Davey Win it all shakes out. Looks like grammar Hall is going to be a race leader. Yes, it all shakes out ramp should be the race later and Graham Award McLaughlin those drivers, they're going to be able to stay in the league for a longer amount of time. When you see that Dixon and upload Rosenquist guys just pit it, they can have the league. It's going to be important for a short amount time. But all they need is not feel to get to them. Radiation. That's where that's what they're counting on, may be ahead of the field, and here comes your points Leader Alex Pillow in front of Alex Wolff, Alex Blow goes on the black sidewall tires, Pond mate. Second pissed out. They've been telling them happy of the fuel mileage He's been giving. They are giving him a lap count and also a binding every element to take a drink of water. Looks like Oliver ask you Excuse me. Felix Rosenquist has pitted as has willpower. Those pit reports brought to you by speedway the official fuel and can be In your store of IndyCar and David. It does look like we have cycled all the way through. Tell you what, though, Michael Young. We're keeping an eye on that battle. Joseph New Garden, Scott Dixon. They can't get away from each other as they had to turn Number four. Yes, Scott Dixon actually came out in front of Joseph New Garden on that pit stop. Dixon's on blacks and Joseph Garden on Reds addiction, trying to get those blacks up to temperature and Joseph Gardner was all over that rare way when he made his way out talking about Scott Dixon almost passed him in turn Number seven. We got him later on on that land. Maybe While Elio Castroneves came back out onto the track you had heard him say earlier that he wanted to come out and get laps for practice. In doing so. He all of a sudden slowed up Colton Herta and as well Felix Rosenquist. Everything settled out there. Graham Ray Hall, as they can mention is back in the league award, and then Scott McLaughlin runs at third. Everything I think is settled out as well. Jake in the pit sequence, and the running order should stay the same barring any incidents here. For the foreseeable future. So let's go ahead and give you a full field rundown here with 65 laps to go to the Grand Prix of Portland Graham Ray Hall is your race leader by 2.7 seconds over Pato Award awards, starting to get pressured by a pair of Team Penske teammate Scott McLaughlin with a great run. He's in third Simon Passion. Oh is fourth at Jones runs in the fifth spot. Marcus Ericsson is 6th 7th. Sebastian board a. Jack Harvey is eight. And Ryan Hunter Ray and Alex Blow round out the top 10 Joseph New Gardens 11th. Scott Dixon is 12th. Max Chilton runs of the 13th spot. 14 is Don't tell at 15 Alexander Rossi 16th is Takuma Sato. Rookie Callum Ilott runs in the 17th spot. For whom goes Holly Racing. Jimmy Johnson is 18th Felix Rosenquist is 19th. But a tough day for Colton heard us he runs in the 20th position, counter daily. 21st willpower has had to have some repairs done to his Verizon. Chevrolet. He runs in 22nd position. Oliver ask you got spun early in this race. He runs in 23rd 24th. And then it's the drivers that have had bad days. Roman grow shop is 15 laps down. He runs in 25th Helio Castro Neves back out of the race track, but he is 18 laps down in 26th and James Hinchcliffe not officially out of the race. But 45 laps down in the 27th position Well, last year Indy car made a pledge to support diversity and inclusivity throughout the paddock and each of our events to get an update on some of those initiatives. Let's check in with Katie Kyle, who's with a member of the IndyCar community who is on track with diversity. Amanda Gross is a development engineer at Andretti Autosport. And first of all,.

"2nd 3rd 4th Place cars and I think part award started seven. He's leading this race. Ray Hall started. I think fifth maybe or something. He is in that second position, but the guys that all crashed big damage to grow John Willpower and Hinchcliffe. August. Smoking in there too hot. Amazingly enough. Usually you have an opening lap accident. The last place you want to be as mid pack. But it was the drivers at the front of the field who are going to take a hit as you mentioned because they missed the corner and then drivers at the back of the pack that got damaged race cars. It's amazing Pot Award. Grant Ray all really the only to cleanly make it through Turns one and two, and that's why they have jumped from seventh Starting position will work now your race leader Graham Ray, home started fifth now runs second. Felix Rosenquist is Third Scott Dixon runs fourth. Jones has jumped up from eighth to the fifth position, and then you've got our pole sitter Alex Below who runs in the sixth spot. Colton Herta is seventh. Alexander Rossi, who was on the front row. He all of a sudden finds himself in eighth. Marcus Ericsson is ninth and Sebastian Bourdais 10th. So David Basically, we threw everybody in the blender puree, and that's our lineup are are are official running order After three laps? Yeah, there's several cars Colton Herta. He cut the corner as well. Now I don't know the exact rule. He did go over the curbing, So I don't know if you go If you hit the curbing and you get you come out where you are, or if you have to go through that chicane. Colton did not go through that chicane, so I don't know if there's a penalty there or not. I think he's okay. But I'm not 100% sure watching Elio Castroneves car being taken off the race track by a record tough, tough weekend for him. Maybe so much speed from Elio. He was towards the top of the charts. Yesterday morning during practice but frustrating return to Portland for the fourth time Indy 500 champion Yes, sure is and like you said after such a good run yesterday. It's been 20 years since he's raced at this facility and be able to come out yesterday. After 20 year absence on this track and run as fast he found himself on top. The charge. A lot of fun ended up. I think the top three uh but they qualified. Just didn't hit it right. Just missed Mr points on the race track where he needed to be fast and qualified well and then, unfortunately out on the first lacquer today, So we just got word that any cars working on the official running order. Best of luck to them because of this messy start, and David, We also heard that the car is going to take no action and boy there was so much going on. Bably seems like a good call. How do you light light throwing penalties and drivers with his chaotic as that was? Yeah, you know. It seems like every year, it doesn't matter what series by the way that race here, turn one's always an issue on the first lap, so you know we sometimes we had an issue with turn one and middle. I'll short straightaway getting into Turn one, so they made the start line on the back straightaway going into a little bit of a different corner, where they spread out a little bit more. Not so sure would be a good idea that maybe start these guys on the back straightaway to where that maybe get strung out before they all pile up down into turn one so working lap number five under caution. With the opening lap accident that has taken Roman grow. Sean Elliott, Castro Neves and James Hinchcliffe unofficially out of the race. Castro Neves is he's being scored right now. 26, Grosjean and Hinchcliffe. Have already fallen four laps down, and it's Ryan Marine and Alex Wolff touched off the damage on those cars. Pretty significant right now. Those are the three drivers that have looked to have gotten the worst of this opening lap accident. It is part of award Grant Ray Hall, Felix Rosenquist, Scott Dixon and Jones. Your top five Alex Blow runs in sixth. Colton Herta seventh. Alexander Rossi. Eight. Marcus Ericsson ninth Sebastian Board A is 10 Scott McLaughlin runs in the 11th position. Max Chilton is 12th counter daily 13th Simon Passion on 14. Marina. Speak 1/15. Jack Harvey is 16 Takuma Sato 17th Kalem Island, Making his IndyCar debut runs in the 18th position. 19th is killing 30th is Ryan Hunter Ray. Jimmy Johnson is 21st Joseph New Garden Boy started 18th. He's already lost some spots running the 22nd position. Oliver ask you got turned in that opening lap accident he runs in 23rd willpower has made a couple trips to pit lane was some damage that looks like the right side of That race car He runs in 24th, but is still on the lead lap. And then it is Hinchcliffe. Castro, Neves and Grosjean, 25th, 26th and 27th final car on the lead lap. I just mentioned it, Ryan Marine is will power and he's been busy in front of you on pit Lane has made two trips to the pit lane, and they've already replaced the nose cone that part of the repair was quick. But it's that under wing that they're trying to repair and David could talk a bit about what that underweight does as far as generating performance on an Indy car. But the leading edge is what they're most concerned about on that under wing that going to work with the bear bond to try and Get that, in His best of shape is possible for willpower the rest of the way. But, David when you hear that What do you think Will power is in store for the rest of this race? If he's got that under wing damage, and that's exactly what it is under wing. So that means down force of that race car and you need all the mechanical and down four script that you can get at this very flat. Portland International Raceway, so it will affect him. There's no question about it, how much we're not sure until you get going, but any time that under wing is damaged, that it does affect straightaway speed, it could put more dragon there and definitely less down force. So again, working a full course caution here in Portland International Raceway. How has this melee shaking up? The points? Well are points that are coming to this weekend was part of award and he's the big winner right now is he has jumped to the race lead. As he is up 34 points on the entire field. Working black number six opening lap accident takes up a hand full of drivers. Hinchcliffe Castro members grow John out of the race infections. Hinchcliffe was out of his car back in the paddock. We know Helio Castro Neves. This car has been told back to the paddock as well. So they're days are done at Davey Hamilton for these drivers when you get so psyched up to go racing, and now all of a sudden you gotta back it back down to run. 56 laps under caution. Colton Herta at Graham, right holders in hot pursuit Heading up toward the keyhole. Graham Ray Hall took a long, hard look at making that move entering the keyhole. Now at the bottom of the keyhole, he's going to go to the inside. They are side by side. He came in for Real Letterman Lanigan racing and went from blacks to read a couple of turns the front wing in the number. 30 was down and away and Davey Hamilton disastrous stopped for Colt had heard And that's unforeseen set of circumstances when you have issues with that fuel Buckeye. Yeah, You know what? I feel bad Colton's had fuel issue. Problems. I mean, I know of three major ones with fuel issues in his career, and that was probably the worst one. Something happened with the filling nozzle. It wasn't venting or something. The field just was the valve was an open who knows what happened? Man. What a costly stop putting in from second to seventh. Now it doesn't seem like a lot of position on race track, but he was two seconds behind New garden. With that happened. "Magnate Annapolis Motor Speedway. It takes an army to properly covered this event, and we have that red Rakestraw Kurt Darling Brennan King. We will hear from Jake weary as well as Donald Davidson. Likely we'll hear from the star of the day, which is Elio Castro Neves. The star of the day is all of us. We deserve this man After the last 15 months to have this glorious of a race day, and this unique and dramatic of a finish, 35 lead changes today 13 different race leaders, just two yellow flag periods and 76 laps of green to finish the race. The fastest ever. And the 100 now 11 year. History of the events. Average speed for the winner 1 90.69. Oh, let us welcome a man that was a star of our coverage All month long. He and Jake weary did beyond the bricks every weeknight eight. Your remark walls coverage last weekend is joining us via the phone lives star buddy Mike Thompson. Good afternoon, my friend. I know you are all smiles any time. There is a race here Indianapolis Motor Speedway, but especially on one Mike. We're so much history was made in one day. Oh, absolutely. And the first thought I had after the race was, you know, there's a famous quote that Alistair Jr said, You know, you just don't know what Indy means. But I think when do you see what happened after the race and the emotion and the just the raw energy from the fans and the raw energy from Elio and his crew and so many people coming? That's what Indy means. That's that's right there. It encompasses everything. That's exactly what it means. When you see so many people coming that congratulate Elio and Mario coming over and giving him the kiss on the head and So many of Helios competitors coming over to congratulate him and the fans, you know, well after the race is over, still climbing the fence tow give their congratulations. That's what Indy means. I mean, that encompasses it all, doesn't it? I think at least so let's let's think about just just let's let's think about the amount of people though, that have seen Elia Race here because again he has now been In 21 consecutive Indy five hundred's. He is in the top 10 in terms of all time experience here. In fact, he has the third most miles completed on Lee behind A. J and Al Sr Hey is tied for eighth. I believe in terms of number of five hundred's competed in when it comes to 21. Oh, yes. He has now won four of them. So you have multiple generations of Indy fans and those if you're 25 years of age, all you know is basically A little cash for damages. Gonna win or come darn close to winning and Indianapolis 500 your thoughts about kind of the role that he has played these last two decades as a champion and ambassador for the sport might Always an outstanding ambassador, but I think especially over the last few years. He's even gained more fans that that's possible because he's come so close to that fourth win. You remember that great Julie had with Ryan Hunter. Randy was so close and you so disappointed and not get that win. And then you know, coming up just short against Takuma Sato into comas first win, and then he had a couple of lean years, the last couple years with Penske and you remember, he almost. I don't want to say bag, but he almost begged for another chance. You know, with with Roger when it looked like, you know, when we knew he wasn't coming back as a full time driver anymore with Penske. He almost kind of begged. Hey, I want another shot at this. And you know you knew that it was. You know, time was running out with Helios, the full time driver, but you do. We knew we had the skills we knew he had the ability to still be a in victory lane. But I think there's he's gained even more fans over the last few years with this pursuit of four wins, But I think the story lines today were so interesting because you know, sometimes we we kind of create these story lines going in in our heads that it's going to be the young guns against Against the wily vats. And sometimes maybe those won't play out. I mean, but they did today, didn't they? I mean, we had the young guns against the wily That's all day and we had such a great story and in counter Daly, leading and in front of his home fans in the home fans getting, you know, tear the roof off the place, basically cheering for Connor and tear the roof off the place for a Leo and so You know some of the story lines that we had going into the month. You know, we thought Scott Dixon was going to be unbeatable and Scott Dicks and he led briefly or else you would have had two years in a row or the pole sitter didn't even lead a lap later on in the race. Scott did lead, but You know, just amazing story lines. I think all day today, up and down, up and down the grid. No one can give a 30,000 ft view like J query does, And he often has that view at the top of Turn three for the Indy car radio network as Per usual, my friend, great job by you and all of your colleagues and I guess just first impressions and you start to try toe encapsulate what This race is all about today. I think the thing Greg that jumps out to me is this and I want to make it. There are people that are far more articulate than I can say this and express it and I know it's a point that's been expressed by a lot of them. But the number one question I get asked when people find out that I worked for IndyCar. I'm around a lot is Azalea Castor. Never really like that. The answer is resoundingly. Yes. You know, it was just very fitting. I think in a race where We were in a race to return to everybody, just wanting to feel normal again and wanting to feel like things were going to be okay. And therefore it was very fitting to kind of turn back the clock a little bit. And just feel like we have felt so many times before. And what better way to do that? To see a guy that now has one in three different decades. I guess you'd say I mean, we'll know I'm trying to think. Now, too, right? Correct. He's one of two different decades, but he has won over the course already, So, yeah. So you know, there was a lot about it that you had the love. No, you know. Quite simply. It was an interesting race because the two that appeared to be I really did think that You know, Scott Dixon was such a clear favorite and then Heard advocate looks so strong. Obviously just things come into play. I mean, you forget that it's a 500 mile race. I mean, it really is a race of endurance. Even still today with the technology is it is and the advancements made there of where it's not necessarily You know, it's not like the 19 teens where cars going, 500 Miles is unbelievable, but Still, there are factors that come into play so In the end, though, it just kind of felt like Greg. It ended out being as it should, with Castor never swimming it. Yes, that really is what he's like. There are 22 of those cars by the way that lasted 500 miles. Today, we will step aside for just a moment. We'll have some finally crafted commercial messages, but just as finally crafted as the latest traffic.

Donald Davidson Alistair Jr Jake weary Mario Elio Castro Neves Scott Dixon Ryan Hunter Elio Scott 500 miles Takuma Sato Greg Mike Thompson 30,000 ft Roger 25 years Penske 100 two years 500 mile

"Castro Davis. Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Unquestionably. There knows how to win. Has shown flashes that Should be written off. Tom Brady. Great analyzation right there. How about Patil award? Potter award with That's a good one. Seattle Seahawks. Now. Had a Buffalo also pot of really talented, really, really talented but still has yet to really show. It. Indeed, the discipline is there over 200 laps, not because he's on discipline. Just that there's maturity. There's just a natural experience that comes into play. Um Also a little bit handicapped by the engine that he's running. But really good, really good. That's still a year away, so we'll say Will say the Tennessee Titans. About Tony Kanaan. I would say that he is Green Bay Packers has won one under Aaron Rodgers. Still has it. You know that it's still there. Sometimes you wonder what exactly is missing. But other times. It's absolutely amazing. Not a shocker if he wins, but also not a shocker. If there's a disappointment, Alexander Rossi Uh, Alexander Rossi is I think personally. Also probably well, You know what? I lost you but also be the Chiefs. Massively talented. Marta tell driving his driving a race car. There has to be a little bit of fearlessness. A little bit of smart. Some drivers are more fierce than others. Some drivers are smarter than others, and some drivers have the ultimate mix of the two when it's the right timing for to be there, and that's Roxy. Rocky is the young version of Scott Diction. He's he is really, really good. Graham re hall. Granbury. How's the New England Patriots? Well, I shouldn't say that because you don't want any 500. But has the pedigree has everything lined up where you know, you think? OK, there's just Never seems to fade away. I realized the Patriots did last year, so that may be a bad analogy. Very good. I personally think People in Vegas are looking for a sleeper to throw an extra five bill on I would do it on Graham Ray Holt because he's been fast his teammate, one of last year's Takuma Sato, so obviously his team knows how to build good cars. He looked really good in traffic. And I think Memory always told me on at least five occasions and last year that he feels like this is the year. And I have no exactly, but he's not going to be in the thick of it. I think he is an outstanding outstanding flyers Put five bucks on C'mon, passion all Um Also really good. I mean, Seattle Seahawks. You don't mean like like right there any particular game And there's not surprise you at all. If there was a win, or New Orleans thinks one of those, too. I mean, probably the thing. Has won Indy 501 of the 500 with a great team. Still has a little left in the tank. And Again. If he went another one. It would not be a surprise. But if you get beat, you know in the second round. It doesn't necessarily totally stunned you either, but The things are obviously very well respected team over the last three or four years. That's exactly Simon. Passion Noise. Ryan Hunter raid. Ryan Hunter rate that Ryan had a rape, Probably the Patriots. He hasn't won multiple Indianapolis 500, but he did win one. He's a former Syrian champion. Still competitive, but clearly a lot of people would tell you that we're starting to see the sign that the better years are a year or two behind him. Is Marco Andretti, the Cleveland Browns. Excellent question. The Cleveland Browns are part of a Lord Baker Bayfield is 100% Pato Award. Perfect. I can't believe I didn't think of that award is Baker Mayfield Times 1000, Right? He's gone. Katie Bar the door look out! Fearless, Cocky, personable, likable, no holds barred. Doesn't not afraid to anybody that part of the war Baker makeup perfect analogy. Um Marco Andretti would be more like Going to give one Got Marco Andretti two guys that The talented race car driver, But the reality is can he lacked the one thing that other drivers have, and that is the fear of ever losing his job. So Marco and ready. I like Marco. I think the talented guy I think Marco's best chances of winning are probably in years past. You know, I think at this point, he knows his car probably is not one that capable of winning it. Um Mark Marco Andretti, probably the Dallas Cowboys. Who would be the San Francisco 40 Niners. Got Erickson. You got Carpenter Hinchcliffe daily. Uh, let me move on down. You got VK. No, the 40 Niners to be one month for you. Okay, one of the most elite out there. What One of the most elite out there that Everyone knows this particular year is not the same standard that they have been three years passed, but they're always taken seriously because they're in illustrious franchise. I think Montoya is a talented as anybody. In the history of this event. But he's also longer institution. What about yourself? New Garden? Could he possibly be the Baltimore Ravens? New garden is probably, um New garden is the Kansas City Chiefs until last year when they finally wanted everybody. I mean, there was no question that it was a you know, it was a matter of time that Patrick Mahomes was gonna win it. Joseph new gardeners, Patrick Holmes. Is the two time serious champion. Um, he has massively talented. He drives the Roger Penske shows with a great team. Joseph New Garden is probably right now. The most white hot driver of those who have never wanted to be 500. It is thought to be with in racing circles. Eventual inevitability. He is going to win India at some point This may not be the year because he starts towards the back. I think you started 19th or 20th. But What you set up your car to qualify and the way you set up your car to drive the 32. Other cars on the track are two totally different things. And if the Penske's managed to find Set up that allows him to drive well in traffic. The new garden will be running towards the front and if he's running towards the front, he's got a bit of chances. Anybody very interesting, Jake, we're you know, you've been doing this for a while, Looking forward to watching the race and taking it all in. I appreciate you staying up late on this Friday. No normally No, Jake is ready to go. But it seems like you've toned it down just a little bit on probably taking care of your body A lot more. So probably up earlier than normal. Back in the days before that big heart attack me, I where I would catch it at two a.m.. And that was like prime time for Jake. You You know what? I'm still typically up. So if you can, and nine times out of 10, I'm good to go for whatever you need, but I'll admit we're out today for card day with the final practice before the 500 on Sunday. Um It's been a long week of being out being tracked side by 89 a m, which is early for me. Admitting that I was up this morning about 7 30, which is a Zafar, as I'm concerned, is basically like to like that's like waking up to a M. That's farmer hours for me. So Scott MacLachlan In the machine of side of passion. Oh herder, And then Alexander Rossi. Marcus Eriksen was the big loser in that willpower Now entering the circuit as well. They'll get right in front of Takuma Sato. And behind him. Is the machine off Ramada grow shod. Also the machine of Felix Rosenquist just now making it out of the circuit, But Nick Yeoman Ramada Grow shot is making this field look silly at this point. He has pretty much fallen and we have a car off its jack Harvey. Yeah, it's Jack Harvey and turned seven. There is something wrong with that race car. He is very slow. Trying to get his way through the S is Jake the entire field just trying to get around Harvey without making contact again. The leader is Ramana grow Zhaan. But as we watch now, coming back on for the flat right rear of Jack Harvey, the machine that had the incident and pit road he's able to get back under some speed. But he's gonna have to come to pit road. He's working his way. And he wisely now starts to go to the left in turn number 12. Everybody's starting to back up around him. Jack Harvey now is gonna have to get to the outside is everybody is able to get underneath him. And here comes Jack Harvey dejected for sure. Jack Harvey on the Pit road, Davey. That's a tough, tough break for that. It all started when he came on to pit road. It all started with PETA Road right now. Flat tire by then we had a problem. Get that tire on. I'm gonna bring him in right now. We'll see. We'll see the unfortunate stop that they have to make. This is their third. I'm gonna have to have another one and Dalton.

"Your points leader Scott Dixon. He hasn't pitted since the lap number three and Ryan Marini comes into your view that three pit stop came because he was caught up in the opening. Last accident here comes to PNC Bank. Our crew going to work is entire pressure adjustment at the rear of the car. Just trying to find a bit more stability, Speedway fuel and Scott Dixon is down to the way it looks like Ed Jones. Willpower, feelings. Rosenquist Takuma Sato, a good battle into turn number one. This is the battle for the 13th position. Michael Jones will lead that. Great train willpower finally getting his fit foot back underneath him or speed. I should say underneath him feelings. Rosenquist will be right behind him. Those are some great battles, eh? Jones gets a nice launch out of turn up before but for the first time, it looks like well, power's back on his getting out. This is in the back half of the field at Jones and that blue mouse or electronic scar about four car lengths over willpower power about four over Felix Rosenquist. Then it's Takuma Sato charging hard. The fourth car on that train and Pato award the winner of Texas. Jake. Those five snake their way out of 10 hours got to actually just think to himself a sense of relief that he finally now is right in the thick of it to Michael's point, maybe finding some balance of that car trying to close it on Jones. He's got Rosenquist just behind him. No real movement is they kind of accordion themselves right now, and it's our number 13 Alex below fairly comfortable in third, but it looks as though that Rina's BK is getting a bit more racy with a back to the field, See Vaginal in pretty good shape in the night position. Alexander Rossi looks pretty comfortable in the 11th position. But again, things stacked up a bit behind that quote. Play front again, Jones and in turn over what Jones has 12 and willpower would like to get it back after that free fall through the field moments ago, so willpower will lose a couple of spots that its feelings Rosenquist, the machine of Takuma Sato, right there as well as well as Pato Award, But it is the machine of Ed Jones making his way through the switchback of five. It looks like he has a comfortable advantage over willpower. Yeah, there nose to tail. But Jones is comfortable right now. Over willpower Call it five car legs. The driver from Dubai will get hard on the brakes and yank that steering wheel to the left. Turn over seven willpower will mirror those inputs as they make their way through Turns 89 10 because of the fact that Ed Jones has that blue paint scheme, it still takes my eye getting used to it to realize that that is exactly who that is. But willpower is giving it a very hard examination because he is closing in. Even more so in that solid blue machine, But Rosenquist is right. They're right behind power with the same distance. That group now works its way through Turn number 13 30 lives complete Girls Yacht Harvey Pelo VK and New Guard. The top five of last year in the car, made a pledge to support diversity and inclusivity throughout the paddock and each of our events to get it. Update on some of those initiatives. We just finished Arden's first caution of the race, the only cost so far for 12 laps. Can't wait to see Mark what this does for Tony, Get on. I mean, he has a fast race car. We know that obviously Jake, where he has a scot of been tuned in with the drama being stuck in sixth gear. But now all of a sudden TK If they got those gremlins worked out Mark. He's back in the game and ninth with fast race cars should be addressing to see You guys got a young greenest BK right ahead of him rookie and Scott McLaughlin. I imagine they maybe taking the school here on this restart where we know with the way this thing is shaping up these restarts, you're gonna have to get everything you can adult Kellett Takuma Sato, a couple of guys that waited and waited and waited and waited. Graham Ray Hall, another one, and they waited it jealousy. It's Ray Hall Sato talent all waiting till lap 68 to go to pit road. Yeah, those are guys that pitted once got trapped a lap down, and I think there's thought process now Mark is because we ran so many laps under yellow better come in cab off and get back on the on the strategy with everybody else. The guys that didn't willpower Marcus Eriksen Pato Award Simon Passion. Oh, when those next round of pit stops happened, they're gonna be the first ones that come in, David. No question. Gonna be a long night for AJ point racing in the crew. Sebastian board A. They've got a pretty bad Death race car that they've got to put together. The good news is way Don't rate race until late in the afternoon tomorrow, so they do have some time, but it's still gonna be along. That form is gonna be a long night, guys. I see the car being backed into the garage right now, all the crew heading that way, and they're gonna evaluate it very quickly to see what all they need to fix. But it's gonna be a long night for that A J. Foyt group and let's go to pit road getting updates from Michael Young. Yeah, just touching on Joseph New Garden that it's that he will have to go back of the pack. Killed flat to follow the 29 tips Just got on the radio. You have to go to the back. Joseph didn't really argue with this. So you will see him restart in the 20th position. It restricted. No, David, that new gardens of what that goes to the rear of the field and board a pointed the goat herder for slowing up off of turn number two. Yeah, I don't know about that call. I don't think that was a great call. But that's just me from here point. Just like that driver. I got slow down in front of me in your fast you are and these speeds you gains quickly, guys and cold must have issue but we're behind you. You don't know that's happening. And you everybody slow down the facet good and just barely touched him. So I don't feel that's a fair call personally, But that zone that just means the race driver know what kind of help these cars work. Well, so Joseph New Garden slips all the way back to the 19 position. Nick Yeomin and so some of the momentum he had started to glean back.

"Onto pit road. Check it with our pit Reporters. See what stories they'll be following tonight? We've already heard from him his conversations with Alec. Hello, Jake. What? He gonna be keeping an eye on pit road tonight? Mark. I think it's going to be interesting to see exactly what Tony Kanaan decides to do The 2004 winner of this track, and that Brian heating and cooling Honda that he drives car number 48, he starts 23rd on interest points. Of course, that was fastest in the practice session. And what I was told is that at the beginning of the race, don't look for vintage T K to try immediately to go to an outside line and get aggressive. Gonna try to perhaps be a little bit conservative. Early knowing marked it with a double header. Got a baby, that car get a feel for the race before? Starts to make his move little further up Pit road. Let's welcome in Michael Young, Good evening, Mark Jade's 70 degree ambient and 77 degree track temperature identical to what we had earlier today, I'll be keeping an eye out. Scott Dixon, four time winner here at Texas Motor Speedway Pato Award will also be in by section expected a lot of that young man race number one did not show that well in ST Petersburg, but always good on Opal Simon Pageant. Oh Joseph New Garden, also in my area, and Young Colton heard along with Chad. Carvey. Thies, too young guns could make some big moves tonight as well. It's going to be a thriller tonight 212 laps Mark Jade's about Go racing, his motor Speedway 1.5 Mile oval that humans going to help us call action Tonight. Nick always so crazy Crazy night in the Lone Star State of Texas, the Texas Motor Speedway. Yeah, but those guys are pit lane talked about who they're watching. Marco will be watching our pole sitter Alex below, Not a lot of oval experience, And when we drop the green flag, he's gonna have two of the best. Willpower. Scott Dixon, right on that rear wing way. Expect some fireworks. We're gonna have some fun tonight. Davey Hamburger, No driver analyst. Three stops tonight is what we expect. Question is, How are the tires gonna wear? Well, I think that the tires are gonna be the thing that drivers wanted change. Quickest. I mean, Susan commander, get off those war out fire stones and put some fresh ones on. I think it's gonna gain them. Mark. I think it could be a three for one hour per lap. So it's gonna be a big big deal on tire strategy right for tonight. Trace us. Scott Dixon, the winner here a year ago. New GARDEN Dicks. Dicks is 12 in the last three Dick. You'll matter of fact, he's won a few types here one of those tracks and he's pretty dominant at Yeah, he's got a chance tonight Mark to become the King of Texas Motor Speedway. He and Elliot Castro Neves, who is on site coaching up Jack Harvey. For Meyer shake racing, both with four Texas wins Dicks and watching that practice session. Mark look really good. I think he's got a shot. Get 1/5. 1 is the field makes their way down the back straight and arresting this seed Nick Yeoman. How well this rookie does with the likes of willpower and Scott Dixon and cold and hurt her wrapped around it, But he's got a ton of confidence for sure. He certainly does. The fields stacked up in turns three and four. Alex below your pole sitter. Willpower to his outside Scott Dixon and last week's winner, Colton heard a and row two. Mark Jayne's Here They come at a turn. Number four Texas, Texas two step is underway at Texas Motor Speedway. Guys jockeying for position back in the field. Looks like a pretty clean start. Is Alex below, gonna see Scott Dixon Tuck it behind him. Dickson grabs me too. It's a nice jump for Scott Dixon is he gets the second the front five gets single file back to Jack Harvey. Down the back straightaway mark. They're going to three wide. Marcus Eriksen get shut down, low sided Pashto about those that are bottling up cars behind him. Pashto, currently running in the fifth position. Harvey board Davey Ke Eriksson all bottled up behind him in turn, number three up side by side Across the start, Finish line, Graham, Ray Hall and Sebastian board a going side by side. Everybody looking for that inside line. Marc Joseph knew Gardner, former Texas winner he'll get around Pato Award is the leaders set up for three Takuma Sato among those on the move early. He's plus three T K is taking opportunities when they come to him. He is plus four. Alexander Rossi has picked up a couple of positions. He's barely running 14 mark battle for the lead in a turnover. One Scott Dixon swings around the outside of his young teammate, Alex Below New Driver two p one. It's Scott Dixon down the back straight. Yeah, that wasn't much of a battle it all that now power has gained his will better back and he's dialing it in on Alex. Below cold. Herman stuck right into the tire tracks of willpower. Now if they come back into the vein straightaway, willpower about three car lengths behind second place running Alex below pretty good battles. Shaping up mark for the fifth position as well. Jack Harvey and that pink and black car trying to hold off Simon passionate with him in arts colors as they roar to turn to be Kate Board Day. All guys that are players at that, or rather erratic, moved by willpower trying to break that Arab little bit fives of clean air grab simple medical. He shot to the bottom of the racetrack off of turn over to still has a firm grasp of that their position. Your leader is Scott Dixon. Alex Below Run. Second willpower is third. You mentioned VK onboard a battling closely, but Picks up the seventh position mark as he clears VK attitude. Five laps in Davey Hamilton, a very clean start, and some of the movers includes Sado, Rafi and TK at the rear of the field. Yeah, right now we see T K. Yeah, right. He's gonna just take it easy and started actually went. My four guys right off got up a little bit. I lost from those back when you're right. Sato's coming up as well. Built right now, Look, we're all tight guys about a lot of passing. We've seen Pato award losing ground on the start of the race. I think just being cautious Couple guys trying that outside lane guy, our lane, But just not enough grip, right thereto. Hang on a complete those passes. But as this race goes more rubber's going to get down the racetrack, guys, I think you're gonna be forced to go up. But right now it's just a big street cars. Pretty good lesson for polo right now to be stuck in the tire tracks of his teammate of the veterans got Nixon Baby is he learned of the fast way around this racetrack? Well, I'll tell you what happened with the flow right now is he has a bit of confidence right now. Starting on the pole. I could tell he was not excited about that being on the pole. What you know from her 1st 1st time on the oval didn't have the confidence. But look at this guy's he let go. He probably five o'clock. We'll let my teammates got Dixon, who knows this place is one year many times. Get in front of me. Check it out. He's staying right with fixed the whole way has a nice little gap between him and power. Confidence is building in the skin. It's staying within 4/10 of Nick Yo, Ben Ami. He gets a really nice run off of turn up before, but Dixon's able to hold him off. But it's about a four car like advantage of the state that way for a while. Dixon and the Blue and orange PNC Bank colors as they round the turn over to the advantage for Dixon over Pelo Colon six car lengths mark, so they split up for turn number three below with a nice, healthy lead, though. Not a full 10. Carlin's over third place running will power couple of battles we've watched on the racetrack haven't materialized. Just Yeah, but Sebastian board day and read a speak A..
