A state advisory panel is doing damage control after recommendations regarding sex offenders stirred outrage in the community como fours. Joe Moreno reports. Members of the state and I'll say this is all a misunderstanding. Late last month, the sex offender policy board, which is a group that advises the state legislature, they included research in its agenda that says community notification actually undermines public safety. That research also finds that sex offender registry should be reserved for law enforcement and not be made available to the public. The chair of the panel says this research comes from an outside agency and there's no plans to recommend changing these policies here in Washington. There's a great deal of support for community notification on our board and I would be shocked if any proposals to limit that or in any way diminish that were successful. Now, what is under consideration by this panel is a comprehensive review of nearly three dozen felony sex offenses and whether they should be re -ranked in the sentencing guidelines. Drive -on ferry service between Seattle and Bainbridge will be closed for nearly a week as crews install a new walkway at Bainbridge Station. Crews will start the work on September 7th, work through the 13th. During that time, crews will lift the walkway structures into place on their concrete and steel pilings. That means no drive -on service and the Seattle Bainridge route will operate on reduced one -boat schedule. Again, that's 7th September through the 13th. Evangelism on SermonAudio
A highlight from Loving God First
"You are listening to Bible Direction for Life, the sermon podcast of Westside Baptist Church in Bremerton, Washington. We pray that the preaching and teaching you hear on this podcast connects the truth of the Bible to your life, that you would learn more about the triune God who made you and what he made you for. And now here's today's message. Well it's a great joy and privilege to be with you. The third thing I'm passionate about is donuts. Is it Sly's Donuts in Pozbo? Is that still there? Yeah? Okay. We used to call it the Farmacy, that's what we used to call it back in the day. Actually I'm not a big donut either, I'm just kidding, but I do remember the donut shop and there then there was one in Port Orchard that was really good. What was the name of that one? Do you remember just around, oh yeah, that's what it is now, right? But it was under a different name. How do we get on this topic anyways? It was me. All right. But it's a blessing to be here. I love being in the Northwest in the summertime. Thank you. This is a blessing from you to me. Just being here in the summertime, seeing the water is a refreshment. We have the dirt in Yucca Valley, but we don't have water. I tell people, it's like the beach, we have a lot of sand, we don't have water. And so it's just a blessing curling several of the curls around from, what is that, Tacoma into Gig Harbor and then coming around Port Orchard into Bremerton and just glancing over God's creation. That's just worth the trip right there, seeing something that I grew up with. And then this summer, actually March 20 years, that I've been a Christian. 20 years ago, last July, so just passed a couple of weeks ago, I came to faith in Christ in Stanwood, Washington, Warm Beach Christian Camp. Any of you familiar with that campground? All right, so 20 years ago, I went to that youth camp. I was 16, a month before my 17th birthday, and I had heard the gospel a thousand times. And I made a profession of faith when I was younger as a child. My dad's a first generation Christian. He wanted me to become a Christian naturally. He didn't put undue pressure upon me to become a follower of Christ, but I know he desired that for myself and my sister. And so went to the camp, heard the gospel, preached all week in cabin devotion. Somebody asked a question that I had heard a thousand times before. And that question is, if you were to die tonight, are you 100 % sure that you would die and go to heaven? And I knew that if God was good and if God was just that, I would die in my sins and go to hell. I knew I was living a double life. I knew that the wages of my sin was death, but I also knew the good news of the gospel. And it's that night that God melted me, humbled me, showed me my sin, my need for a savior. So this summer is special for me being up here because of March 20 years since I've been a follower of Jesus Christ. So I'm so grateful. Becky sends her love. She wished she could be here with us during this week. But as I mentioned to several of you, we have an older van with a lot of miles on it. And God spared our lives in the last road trip to Texas. So it was that balance of do we trust in the Lord driving to the northwest during the summer or is that tempting the Lord? And so after prayer and consideration, after seeing that even rental facilities don't have 12 passenger vans. So if something went wrong with our van, you can't even get a 12 passenger van. You can't fit two adults and seven kids into a tow truck either.

Democrats Embrace 'Harm Reduction,' Still Promoting Drug Use
"Something we can do right now is end this drug permissive culture As a result of the decriminalization Because as much as research shows that the availability of naloxone will save lives that's true Research also shows that you can't die from an overdose and you don't even need naloxone if you're not taking the drugs to begin with whether it's fentanyl heroin meth whatever it is But Democrats have embraced a very specific strategies called harm reduction And maybe you've heard that term before Again if you watch me on Fox News I talk about this all the time Harm reduction You see they don't want to stop people from using drugs because if you're telling them that what they're doing is bad that is judging them and that would be stigmatizing and you're not supposed to stigmatize drug addicts which is of course an absurd position I think we should absolutely stigmatize addicts If that stigmatization actually leads to them getting clean and not dying of an overdose something tells me once they are sober they'll thank us for stigmatizing them But Democrats don't want to do that And so they make something that's dangerous quote unquote safer except it's not really safer we hand out needles as much as we hand out Narcan which is one of the drugs for naloxone In Washington state for example we are told that we should expect to see someone who's overdosing on fentanyl We should expect it We should order naloxone from the county from the state they'll ship it to us always have it on you In case someone is overdosing In Tacoma Washington We're getting Narcan vending machines They already exist in Portland I think they exist already in parts of Los Angeles or maybe it's San Francisco But you have Narcan vending machine machines Naloxone vending machines And it's being pushed at least locally here in Washington by the Tacoma needle exchange

Yes, so the meteorology behind it is pretty interesting. Very wavy jet stream lots of undulations in the jet stream and basically, it's elongated from north to south. So when it does that it slows down, everything slows down. The whole pattern slows down and we end up with kind of a blocking scenario in the atmosphere and There's a very specific block going on right now in the Western U. S. And that's called an Omega block and an Omega block is a pretty textbook block. And really, it doesn't allow anything to move. So what happens is the the hot air kind of pools.
