"I hope they bring back people a you Sokha Sake I hope they invest in people like maybe bring in a hero Osh. Modo or some of these other people who are out there plenty of them who are out there who are much better than who's there and who deserve a shot one day so Again I have. To say this about a w doesn't mean you hate women or you hate women's wrestling or you hate a w, it just means that they're not ready for prime time and they need I will say this I think for the tag team tournaments and Sir building it up to be on A. Dynamite show I think you absolutely need to show some clips I think you should show something as far vignette or or something goes to build into it. But as far as them not showing those matches on TV that's for the best for everybody period. Spurs near says and I don't I. Don't think this is a troll text message, but it makes wealthy why do the demos matter when smackdown beat everyone on Friday and then he has a very profane word for the w shells listen bro Yes smackdown was number one in eighteen to forty nine on Friday smackdown was alive show or a new show everything else had beat was in reruns if you WanNa Brag about that, knock yourself out in persons eighteen to thirty four smackdown on Fox lost to eighty W on Wednesday nights on TNT. There's not a lot to brag about. Here, no if you'd like to go for it accurately that you're trying to, and these are the reasons why when you if you're gonNA tweet or say something stupid like will the shows on Monday? That's way didn't do as good as the show on Wednesday and shut up you just really sound stupid doing that and there's a great example why you can come up with every excuse in the world look in the mirror and ask why you're shows atrophied to the point where you're making excuses about that startup show that you said wasn't going to be worthwhile anyway on Wednesday night. Person says last night a W had a good number of fans at dynamite with signs and all one fan said on twitter that they were not made to take a cova test. Do you think that is smart on behalf We just talked about this. It's an open air arena and the fans are way up in the cheap seats and they're all sequestered away from each other. So that's what's going to happen when win. Sports Return. And would fancier back in buildings? They're not gonNA test every single fan for covert they're going after do with new Japan does which is you open up the whole building and the the assigned seats are all six to ten feet apart from everybody else and you run at a very limited capacity new Japan is testing all these fancy in the building can't. It's impossible. So as as Mike noted Jesse, was there she took some pictures so they did what they did. But brother Baath was boss man I know you don't like stick and Puck and team sports and such, but you should watch hockey A. Lisa. Little Bit Watch a little the Stanley Cup playoffs you WanNa see a sports organization and actually nailed the post covert aesthetic hockey has done that if you there's not much you can say about the people that run the national. Hockey League and say it in a positive way sometimes but they have actually nailed how to run an empty arena and make it look really really good and I don't know if wrestling can take tips from that but They have done a dynamite job. Percents as Davis reported Fox, was looking for a one in eighteen to forty nine. They're not celebrating eight point five to a point six. Well, the other thing that people don't think about when they make these these goofy comparisons is If to look at value. How much did Fox pay for smackdown two, hundred and fifty million dollars a year. What's a w making from TNT fifty, million dollars a year. So I don't know I. Mean these numbers are closer not exact-. I don't know what the numbers are but. It's about fifty million or whatever for W it's about two, hundred, million. So. Fox's paying four times. As, much money. For a show that is beating reruns doing half of what they expected in eighteen to forty nine and is losing in eighteen thirty four to show that is being paid a quarter the money. All. Of this goes into consideration. It's not just well, you know one do this and the other two that one is on Fox. One is on Fox and being paid two hundred and fifty million dollars a year. The other one is on TNT and they're being paid forty five to fifty million dollars a year. So that's another thing to take into consideration. Tell me the people at Fox and TNT. They are taking all this into consideration whether you are not. What's dudes name something con the non the Non Tony Kahn con that W W higher. I'd give him a job and give him a they did give him a job give him anything. He wants because the money that he was able to negotiate for them out of out of USA and out of Fox, my God I don't know if they'll see numbers like that. Again, that was amazing. He deserves a job for what they were able to hustle out of those channels. Personnel says whatever happened to Lower Sullivan I have no idea are Sullivan disappeared. The activator is social media they've not mentioned him. I mean. Maybe he's been fired for all I know I have no idea because when they did all of their releases, they did that giant. Purge of talent. And you know for weeks afterwards we heard. Oh. We never knew this but so and so was released. Nobody said anything but so and so was released I mean he's kind of social media I mean for all I know he might be gone but maybe he's still there I have no idea what's going on with Larson's zero. Between The Lines

09:42 min | Last week

75 years after Hiroshima, they're still feeling its impact.

"This bomb has this frank for twenty thousand tons of TNT. Harnessing, the basic power of the universe. What I fifteen I am on August six, nine, hundred, forty, five, the US Air Force dropped the little boy uranium fission bomb on central hero. Shema. Making it the first city ever to be destroyed by a nuclear bomb. On August nine Nagy became the second when the bomb exploded around thirty percent of Hiroshima's population that were killed instantly many more died in the months and years to come. Now, the bombs brought to an end to world war two but the wool was horrified at the human cost. Russia has since become a byword for nuclear holocaust forever linked to the words never again. Now, this week marks the seventy fifth anniversary of the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki joining me to reflect on the legacy of those events. Tashi. Tauch. She is assistant professor at Georgetown University's School of Foreign Service and the author of political fallout, nuclear weapons testing, and the making of Global Environmental Crosses. Welcome. Tasha. Thanks for having me and Michael Gordon Professor of history at Princeton University and Co. it is a of a new book called the age of Russia. Welcome. Welcome. It's very good to be here. Now, Michael the fear of the nuclear age is the period after World War Two when the US dropped the bomb. The fee was that the nuclear weapons would become a common part of conventional warfare but in the seventy five years since he Russia and Nagasaki, there's not been a single bomb dropped in a conflict. Question is this because deterrence works or have we just been lucky I would say we've mostly been lucky It's quite rare that there are conflicts between nuclear-armed nations. The major example is the nineteen sixty, nine border conflict between the People's Republic of China and the Soviet Union. So there haven't been many occasions for things to escalate, and there's a strong incentive in those cases to de-escalate. There have however been very close near accidents whether missile just that needing on its own or people launching almost launching in fear of an attack and there. Have Been Plenty of conventional wars that could have escalated that way. So by and large, we've been lucky but we've been abetted by the fact that there has been an ambient taboo that has grown over the years against nuclear first use although that is rarely the policy of any nuclear power. Okay. Now from an Australian perspective, Tic- Japan was seen as an aggressor in the war, the war crimes but also as a victim because of the destruction wrought by the nuclear bombs have is the wool remit in Japan now aggressor and victim. Tarshi. Many pass through consider themselves as victims thinking that Japanese were misled by the government inter- Disastrous Wall Conquest. In this view here stands at the as the ultimate symbol of Japanese victim. But today is victim narrative faces two competing accounts. One is to recognize Japan's acts of wartime aggression, including tweeting massacres, forced labor, and sexual violence. If we see hero Shimmer from this perspective, it takes on a whole different meaning not. Not as a national tragedy, but rather as international event. killed not only the Japanese residents but also many colonial subjects and allied. POW's who are present in the city at the time of the Tom Bombing. The other interpretation that has also gained for Japan is to see the wartime conduct Japan as an act of self defense. This This lesion is narrative recaps here. As the ultimate proof of Western aggression. So fitting the predation of Japan's Joel Roles as. Aggressor and victim during the war will gain the upper hand in the future will depend on how sweet society around the world comes together and develops a shared understanding of the complex legacies or Corna reason on the war in the Asia Pacific region and back to the United States markle. There's a popular conception that Washington had to drop the bomb that it was the only way. To win the war, of course, the war in Europe come to an end in May of forty five. This is early August two, forty five is that true I mean what? What President Truman's options? So. This is a great question and it's one with a lot of confusion around it. Functionally. The only way the only government that had any power to end the war was the Japanese government which was in a position to surrender and the question was when would that happen would have happened later or earlier by summer nineteen, forty, five, it was already clear that the war was militarily lost. President Truman and the US government in general had basically fixed options of what they could do to try and encourage the Japanese government to take that move. There's only two that people usually talk about dropping the atomic bomb or invading the home islands of Japan. Both of those were on the table also having the Soviet Union inducing them to enter the wars of belligerent which happened on August eighth increasing the intensity of firebombing tightening the blockade of foodstuffs into the home islands. and modifying the terms of unconditional surrender to allow Japan to keep the emperor. The interesting thing is all six of those happen Truman pursued all sex and the war ended. It's unclear which ones were determinative. But the point is there wasn't like we had one option or nothing else. The US had plenty of options and exercised actually all of them. On the one level target for the bombs was obviously Japan on another level. Real target was the Soviet Union. How did the Kremlin of you? He Russia Mirror Negga? Second Markle. So. Really, the question here is a small set of people within the Kremlin stolen and his closest advisers and you that there was an atomic bomb project going on in the United States for years they've found that out from spies from Britain from spies in the United States, and they had their own uranium enrichment and bomb development program that was going on at I would say a medium scale What happens after the destruction of Hiroshima is I in absented himself for a few days he went into a depression and didn't. React to any of his advisors and then immediately massively escalated the Soviet development of their own atomic bomb. So they were both caught by surprise and not caught by surprise. It's true that the Americans didn't always think about the Soviet Union as a factor in any decision related to how the war was going to end but they also very strongly, we understood that the key issue was trying to get this the Japanese government to surrender faster because the faster they surrendered the less impact. The Soviet entry in the war would have to how the end game would play out in Asia, my guest, Michael Gordon, and Tashi Hitachi, and we're reflecting on the seventy fifth anniversary of Hiroshima. Tashi. One, hundred fifty thousand atomic bomb survivors still living in Japan. In fact, as a guest of Japan's Ministry of Foreign. Affairs this would have been in September twenty, sixteen I met one of one of the survivors now they're all in education and public law has plied an important part in shaping Japan's post-war Pacifism. Now, as generation dies out, is the role of pessimism in Japanese politics is that diminishing especially in the face of Rausing China Toshi? I don't think the passing of the atomic bomb survivors will diminish the strengths of pacifism in any short-term. The correctly memory of human magazine Japan has been fairly robust and the taken deep roots in popular culture. I can think of a good example that is Japanese animated wartime drama film released just four years ago in two thousand, sixteen cold in this corner of the world. This picture accounts of the wartime life in here she was a smash hit in the box office. Be, atomic bomb survivors will also active in passing down lessons from the world's first nuclear war to the next generation. The city's over here streaming nagy training. Many Japanese Ron Tears as storytellers who share the testimonies are waging victims and a second generation survivors are spearheading efforts for peace unjustice. Well, that brings me to today and really in the last that he is the end of the call was thirty years ago the US. And the Soviets on Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty non stop this was President Bush senior and Gorbachev in Russia in the inside at Union. Then just as it was collapsing now, both agree to significantly reduce their nuclear stockpiles and of course, the updated treaty between Moscow and Washington that expose I. Think it's February Knicks Jeez. So that's just a few days after the next president is warning Michael Do you think it will be resigned. I think that's entirely dependent on the results of the election. Joe. Biden has indicated that he would refine the treaty The trump administration has had many opportunities to re-sign the treaty, but they have not taken advantage of those opportunities yet. Russia's indicated that they're very interested in extending

NBA teams kneel during national anthem as season restarts

"Night, the embassy isn't got underway. And of course, there was a lot of attention being brought to what would happen during the national anthem. There were two games last night, and everybody kneels every single player, every single coach, even the officials. They all take a knee for solidarity with the national anthem. So I was curious as to what the broadcasters of the game on TNT, Shaquille O'Neal and Charles Barkley had to say, kind of surprising, actually, listen to Charles Barkley's response here. You're going to hear from shack first and then Charles Barkley type of God. They say you should do is you should do that. Everyone has their own platform. You know they're on their own brand. I'm proud of every one. And my thing is Listen. That's not the mean different things to different people. I'm glad these guys all unified where the people people don't kneel. You're not a bad person. Ex-Hulu CEO Jason Kilar named chief of WarnerMedia

"Warner media. At and T. The owner of Warner media made a big move hiring Jason Pilar. He had been the first head of Hulu he'd been gone from there for several years. Not doing anything of great notes since then but he was. He made quite a splash as head of Hulu and they have put him in charge of everything. I mean this is. He has never run a company of this magnitude. This is like a radical move. He's in charge of the. Hbo Streaming Service. He's in charge of CNN. He's in charge of the Warner Brothers Film and TV Studio Hbo. I mean this is quite an astonishing thing Hollywood is trying to figure out what to make of it. It's a bit of a controversial choice. Only because of his history Hulu now when he ran Hulu. It was the early days and it was owned by several different studios at once but he was known as kind of a gadfly and he published missives about the future of the business and he basically took down the linear streaming business in a memo that he famously wrote and predicted the future of on demand video which is largely. Come true but it was seen at the time as kind of an insubordinate thing to do and here he is now in charge of all of these media properties and reporting to John Stinky at. At and T. He was formerly Warner media. He's now been elevated to the president job at. At and T. and at and T. is not atypical. Hollywood companies so you could see both clashes developing upward at his company and downward with all these divisions at now. Report him yeah. There were clashes upward in the past. I mean he had owners like Fox and Disney which were separate companies. In the day you know this was early. Early Days Net flicks was establishing itself starting to and he would tell them. Basically your old school media my bosses and you don't know what you're doing and they ultimately did get rid of him but so he did look like he was right. In retrospect but when you look at a company like at and T. Up and down as you say I mean Bob Greene Blat is is supposed to be in charge of content for. Hbo Max and Hbo and all of that. You gotta wonder what he thinks of helping this guy. Suddenly being his boss and one of my sources said something in an admittedly. This is a one of their competitors. So you know. Take that into account but he said like why are they have to do this right now? Like this guy is supposed to start at the beginning of May. He can't even meet face to face with the people that he is the boss of and getting to know because he not a familiar guy to people in the old school. You know the Toby Emirates Runs Warner Film Studio. He's not a guy who has necessarily known in that kind of circle and he has. This person pointed out not only hasn't done anything this big but can't actually meet with his own people kind of striking. Yeah but I think that's kind of the point. They wanted someone who is GonNa come in here and have that streaming background because everything that. At and T. has done with the Warner Properties since they purchase them has been pointed towards the streaming future and HBO. Max is the biggest example of that. But they've also created a film studio at Warner Brothers specifically for streaming and they're looking at. How TAKE THOSE LINEAR? Tv brands like Turner TBS TNT and turn them into Digital Branson. I think that this is if you look at it closely. This is the perfect hire for that strategy because you have a digital streaming video pioneer. Who understands or at least has been familiar with the content business but is not of that business and I think that's the thinking. At and T. Yeah I mean it's an experiment and old school Hollywood which you can dismiss if you want to but has made content that people like to watch for a long time old school. Hollywood is like I'm not so sure and I say skeptical of everything that I am. I wonder what they saw that they were already quite top heavy and disorganized with management in terms of who is doing what at the streaming service and the film studio that set aside of service the streaming the whole thing just was kind of crazy confusing and you think you. I I kind of wonder well. What did you guys see? That made you feel like we have to do this. We have to do it right now. And time will tell. It is a kind of wild

The Show Must Go On: Wrestlemania Is Still Happening

"In the WWE. That is we say what our jobs are. Every day is to put smiles on people's faces all over the globe and we truly believe that and then this time maybe more than any other in in my memory people need those smiles right now more than anything that's WWE executive vice president. Paul Leveque better known as triple h talking about the decision to move forward with this weekend's wrestlemainia thirty six. It's the closest thing to live sports. That's happened in a wild but with no fans permitted the arena and concerns over the safety of the wrestlers and staff. What will the showcase of the immortals look like in the age of Corona virus? I mean at times. It's Friday April third this. Espn daily Greg. You're ready to talk wrassling. Damn Right Excel it talking about sports with funny named people trying to punch each other in the face. Greg Luzinski is a senior writer for. Espn you can check out. Lapsed Fan's guide to wrestlemainia on. Espn DOT COM. Yeah actually I wanted to ask you think. Most people know your name from hockey. How long have you been on the Wrestlemainia beat my wrestling a Bona Fides? Go back to when I was a we child watching Hulk Hogan and the more cartoonish W. F. which really sort of capture my heart as you know through the decades there have been times where it's been okay to say a wrestling fan and then sometimes when they've you don't mention it to a lot of people. I think we're in an okay dimension it part of wrestling right now. We're sort of a necessary to mentioned it portion because there's nothing else going on and wrestling is somehow improbably still happening. How is this even occurring? Well the way it's been occurring for the W. E. and their competition. A W which Ariza. Tnt network is that they've been holding shows in empty facilities but for me that means holding their weekly television programs raw and smackdown at the W. E. Performance Center a training facility in Orlando and what they've been doing literally holding it inside of an Empty Gymnasium. I'm the game triple agent. I would like to personally. Welcome you to the. Wwe Performance Center now. This show will be different from anything you've ever seen before. Sit Back Relax. And if you can't forget about the world around you and let. Wwe Do what we do. Let us put a smile on your face to start. That was a little bit awkward because the wrestlers would come out and they would look to the crowd. That wasn't there and they would do all of the usual pantomime they would do to get the fans excited except there was no fans getting excited. You see it doesn't matter if there's ten thousand fans at their zero fans because this is how I I remember that can only way I could describe it as it's like when you're at chucky cheese and the animatronic band starts playing into an empty room. It's still playing. It's still doing. Its own thing. But there's nobody that Iraq to it and that was like the first couple of weeks of this and also they've been utilizing more space around the performance center lake attacks in the parking lot and stuff like that to try to make it feel more than just trying to recreate something inside of an empty room derailed. Me With that chucky cheese analogy this. It's the it's the rock afire explosion ban. Greg get it right. There's nothing better than being in an empty room with the rock afire. Explosion Band and just hearing the gears clunk together. It's jarring but also satisfying so wrestlemainia. Thirty six is happening on Saturday. What was the original plan for the event the original plan was to hold wrestlemainia? Thirty six at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa and this was going to be a huge event for those who don't know it's not just simply wrestlemainia. Inside of a stadium. It is an entire city being overrun by. Wwe events you have the Access Fan Festival you have the WWE Hall of Fame Ceremony. Where wrestlers of old honored and put into a virtual hall of fame. Physical building doesn't exist quite yet and then also after Wrestlemainia the next day on Monday. It's tradition to hold Monday night raw in that same city so this isn't just simply one event on a on a on a Saturday night for The city of Tampa. It was a whole citywide sort of celebration for wrestling as of March. Third The W. E. and Tampa's mayor said there were no plans to postpone the event the W. E. said look the health safety of our fans and performance of our top priorities. But we remain committed to hosting Wrestlemainia at Raymond. James Stadium fast forward to March twelfth. Now you have Hillsborough County's commissioner less Miller saying he'll probably have to cancel wrestlemainia if the. Wwe doesn't make the decision itself because of the virus pandemic governor Rod Santa's that points that cities and counties should cancel mass gatherings over the next thirty days and so it was becoming a worse than worse. Look for W. E. to keep wrestlemainia scheduled framing Jamie Stadium on March sixteenth. They made the decision not to have upwards of sixty five seventy thousand people come to a stadium during a virus outbreak and instead moved into their performance center in Orlando. It's a two night event April fourth and April Fifth. How has wwe justified or explained their decision to go on with us? Well there's the public explanation and then there's the assumed explanation that the public explanation according to the WWe is that it is for the fans the fans are the lifeblood of the organization it is a panacea the fans to be able to hold this event. It is going to give them some comfort in a time of confusion and trouble. It's also going to be arrested for the performers themselves who you know are looking for some direction or looking for some focus in life during uncertain times. And that's sort of the the public explanation for this. If you know about the wrestling business you know that part of this is the fact that story lines that are going to have their big payoff. At wrestlemainia are a month long process. All the story lines all the action. They all run through. Vince McMahon they are on one track. And they're going to stay on that track through hell or high water. These are storylines narratives that the W has been planning to wrap up in culminate at Wrestlemainia happens every year and then they kind of moved to new stuff after that so from a function process to have wrestlemainia occur and wrap up which are the signature feuds and storylines of their season. If you will was a pretty important thing was there any blowback to all of this. Yeah I think there has been some in the rest in wrestling circles amongst wrestling reporters and and amongst the fans wondering okay. We are looking around the sports world. We're looking around the entertainment world. We're seeing literally every pro league every concert tour Disney on ice everything canceling out of concern about corona virus and yet professional wrestling roles on as a weekly television product so there is a bit of confusion. There're two why this continues while every other facet of sports entertainment seems to have stopped. What about amongst the wrestlers did any of them have reservations about participating in this one particular did so wrestler by the name of Roman reigns one of the bigger stars and WWe had a very highly publicized battle with leukemia? He left in October. Two thousand eighteen returned to WWE IN FEBRUARY. Two thousand nine thousand nine hundred and he's compromised so news started to break recently through some of the quote unquote dirt sheets in wrestling. The ones who report the rumor. Innuendo that Roman reigns was not going to be participating in his scheduled match against Goldberg for the Universal Championship at Wrestlemainia. Wwe basically said hey look. This is understandable situation. The health and safety of our performers paramount Sakiz. The biggest name that we know will not be participating but quite frankly until we see what events they air this weekend we won't know who else may have decided to pull out or had to be quarantined or any of that nature because they're being very clandestine about what the card will actually be the first wrestlemainia. That's taking place over multiple nights. It's also the first wrestlemainia that is going to be completely pretaped. So when did they take this weekend's event and what steps did they take to ensure the safety of the wrestlers in the people working on it? It's been a race against time for me. As I mentioned the performance center is in Orlando Florida Orlando Florida. Recently issued a stay at home order March twenty sixth that really closed out all the essential businesses. Just like we've seen all over the country so the WBZ has been racing. It's time to not only record wrestlemainia matches but also record. Future television matches programming as well as far as the safety of the wrestlers. It is a closed control facility. Stephanie McMahon the daughter of owner Vince McMahon who is the brand manager for WWe said to variety. Recently there's extensive testing screening. When you first come into the facility regardless of whether you're a talent crew member or anyone else if you have a temperature taken and you have a temperature over a hundred point four degrees you're automatically asked to leave also any wrestlers de out of the country or in contact anybody who's been out of the country you're not actually allowed to enter the facility. Either so they are taking some safety measures as far as trying to make sure anyone exhibiting symptoms isn't allowed in the facility or anyone who might have been exposed to corona virus through travel or relationships isn't allowed in the facility. Which is you know what you see from other companies as well but obviously there's no way to be sure without Virus testing whether anybody actually has the center of city so they tape this before the stay at home order. Does that mean this is going to be the last big event like this or is this something they're going to keep on doing? There is a lot of sort of mystery as to how these wrestling organizations are going to continue to keep on doing their thing. I'm not sure what the regulations mean for the performance in Orlando. I don't know if this is GonNa be it for their use facility or not. I can't tell you that. Eighty w their competition with also filming inside of an empty facility in Florida's well and there was news this week that they're gonNA be taking their show to some undisclosed to record matches going forward so I don't know if it's GonNa be a shell game where these companies have to start going to the few places around the country that don't have restrictions in place or what have you. But it's clear from both cases that even though they're putting a bunch of their product in the bag right now in our taping matches and episodes for future use on television. The show apparently is going to go on

YouTube TV: drop all sports channels please

"We're here to talk pocketbook stuff today on talking tech that you've heard me say over the last few months how concerned I am with both the rising cost of cable and streaming youtube. Tv cost thirty five dollars monthly in twenty nineteen. Now it's fifty dollars monthly. The reason all those sports fees that. I don't WanNA participate in so I found it rather bittersweet this week when Youtube announced it was dumping some forty two regional teams from its network due to excess pricing demands from Sinclair Broadcast Group. Which owns the streaming rights to games from the New York Yankees in La Kings for example? Good Move Youtube. But where does this leave us? I got some ideas. I'm Jefferson Graham. And you're listening to talking Tech Youtube. Tv is one of a handful of cable. Tv alternatives aimed at streaming fans. Who want to pay less for fewer channels than cable. I'm a youtube subscriber and the last I look. I'm still paying fifty dollars monthly for the service which as good as it is is still drastically overpriced. I liked it. I get the broadcast networks and the news channels but there are so many channels. I will never watch from cozy and Smithsonian to TNT TBS and especially the sports channels. I don't know where they are. I've never turn them on. Don't kill me but there's some of us who just aren't interested in sports and happened. Feel strongly that they shouldn't have to pay for it if they don't watch that's why I like Filo td a streaming service aimed at non sports fans with sells for twenty dollars monthly. How do they do it? No sports fees. Well that's all well and good but there's no news channels either and I need that so scratch. Filo Youtube decision to stand firm against the rising costs of sports is a good one but because it didn't lower the monthly fee doesn't help me so. I have an idea. Get rid of all the sports all of it. Put It on a separate here for the fan. Who wants the programming? Let me subscribe to Youtube for what I want. I'll be happy and not subject to the endless contract battles which nine times out of ten seemed to involve sports fees. I know I'm dreaming here. But it's my dream and I'm entitled to

"Broadcaster route for traditional local TV the and like Nebraska. Yes I went and found so the because everything is online does a youtube clip of like the K. H. A. S. Studio cruising is our last day without of life going on Taj for you end though thousand ten though the woman anchor. What was her name? I didn't catch eighty. She says quote. It'll be interesting to see where he'll be. I five to ten years from now. That was that was may fifth two thousand ten according to the Youtube stamp. They're literally here. We are ten years later. This is where you are so that was kind of a chill will. That was kind of interesting. Yeah Yeah it's I go back so I just moved apartments like yourself and you find things that you've been just hoarding from place to place place and I found vhs tapes of me that I made in college to send out to new stations. And that's I really think I came into media right as it turned digital because I was still being taught linear so I shot resume tapes and I had to put them on. VHS I was still signing up for things where I I would learn the news director in Duluth Minnesota and Bangor Maine and Charlottesville West. Like all these places says I would just send them my vhs tape and Hastings Nebraska general assignment news reporter because nobody wanted to hire me for sports I got paid eighteen thousand five hundred dollars in year one year. Two I got a big race. Nineteen thousand five. My First Job at the Davis Center Prize was something like like sixteen thousand five hundred. Yeah incredible by the way. That's six hundred and twenty five dollars every two weeks. That's what I was getting So that was the first Gig and they would let me do high school football on Fridays. Because I would always say. Let me do sports at anytime. Somebody was sick. I got then I get a news job in Louisville Louisville Kentucky again a news reporter three or four months the sports anchor leaves up in there and the the news director Adam. We think you'd be a great morning. Show how host and I was like which is a big time. Raise your an anchor like it's big-time deal. And I said I don't WanNa i WanNa do sports as let me just make a tape of me doing sports so that you can see it and I go out there on a Sunday and I asked the crew to stay late. I make it for them and I give it to him and he goes does Adam. You're so much happier like you're at and I go yes so I convinced them to let me do sports. I was there for three. And a half years I covered mantras Harrell and Russ Smith and paint CBA winning the national championship with Rick Pitino. It's still exists. I saw it. They beat Michigan. They took that away. I covered Teddy Bridgewater and Charlie strong and I covered affidavits. Michael Kidd Gilchrist like all those Kentucky teams and Calipari Tom Crean Indiana. And then I went viral by doing references and Seinfeld references and now everybody does that Shit and bleacher report. Kind of like brought me in. And that's Kinda how I crossed over at the time so this is now two thousand and thirteen people were like. Are you sure about going to a digital internet company and I was like yes. Yes like dude. My mom reminded me the other day when I was in Nebraska. I wanted to do sports so bad that I asked them. If I could do you an Internet television show and they said if it's not during work hours shore I created a show called sports stream because I thought all shows in the end had to have like an Internet word in there and I would convince everyone stay late on Sunday. We would shoot an hour long conversation me and the two sports guys about Nebraska football baseball all this shit and then I would go home on my laptop on final cut. Pro I would edit it and then I would put it on the website. And here's where it's fine. Fine I go guys. I think we can sell this to like the three persons sales department at KS TV. And I said I go to this one bar. One of the three rebars in town bowls is bar and grill and I said they'll buy advertising and we can do live shows from there and they're like we've never done anything like this before we we go. We sit down with the owner. WHO's this guy that I drink with all the time? And he's like a fifty year old man named Rod. He's the man and the the saleslady sits down and goes. Here's what we'll do. We'll give you banner ADS ON TV DOT COM and we'll say it's presented by Amadou Live shows for two two hundred dollars a month and the owner of the restaurant goes and I swear that the woman immediately goes how how about one hundred and I went. Are you kidding. Just knocked it all that the present and later that night he's like can you believe stealing a no and now I think about like Internet ad sales like we gave them the whole website like banners everywhere for a hundred dollars a month. But that's what I mean where I feel like. I came in during the era where I was competing with beat reporters at the Grand Island Independent. You know what I mean and so i. I have watched the kind of industry change and I'm so happy Cowan to bleacher report when I did because now it's like I get asked by traditional people all the time. How do I cross over and you know? No one's path is the same. If people looked at my path. And like I'm going to do that. I don't know if that's possible. I said the same thing about mind many many times because I took a detour into news for five years before I started covering during the Lakers which changed the entire trajectory of the rest of the Hellier. Do That I. It doesn't make any sense. I couldn't it wouldn't make sense even if I tried to explain it right now and we were going to long as it is but Another podcast go to our another time for that one but no but it is. It's a good lesson on top of the lesson that you actually just outlined do without stating it as such which is when people to turn on. TNT choose the night and you see them up there with shack and Wade and candace Parker and you you think. Wow that's amazing. That's what I WANNA do. Or How lucky that guy is or how talented he is like yes. Adam is very fortunate and very talented but he was cutting his own fucking vhs tapes and making his own show for a hundred dollars a month and should have been two hundred. I appreciate say it it. It is like it. Everybody has their back story about how they got to this spot. And it's important. The details are important. But it's just a great lesson. Listen to and and you know I. I know we've got a lot of younger listeners. And people who want to be in sports media and it all just looks like fun and and and just just a joy ride and it yes it the isn't it can be but it's also a lot a lot a lot of work in places like Hastings Nebraska. Yeah Sacra like my advice. To young people is nothing. Nothing is going to happen at the bar that you're going to need for the rest of your life on if I'm not saying you never go out because I did. I'm just saying that like if you're like Oh you know what if I spend my Friday night at the station or something like that and I edit. This highlight tape just to put on for like jobs or just to put on the Internet of like an interview I did. That's really cool. The more you stay in and work on your craft the more. It's going to help you later and so sacrifice early so so that later on people will go. You're so lucky and you say thank you and you don't want to give them a lecture but in your head you're like yeah it's an the vet. Let them think it's luck. Yeah no listen if nobody picks up the phone to call you to say hey come interview at pr or nobody picks the phone to tell me my own weird path. Go jumping from covering small town city hall to the Lakers. I mean but no somebody opened the door for us right but we put ourselves in a position to have that door opened and you know we are fortunate fortunate that look at us. Now look at us now man back in fact the day we were just doing a bunch of goofy factor fiction videos or crap APP my got out before I forget because I got to wrap up and you mentioned earlier. Jotted down you. You said you can with your all your catchphrases whatever. What was your best catchphrase? Ooh Ooh did you ever go to one or one that you thought. That's the one that's going to lunch my career I for about a year thought I was going to be the one that came on the news on the sports sports. I go hello and I just and in one day and other sports I came up to me he goes you really trying to get a low level thing to stick on. It was like yeah and he goes just just drop the catchphrases and no but for me it was like I dropped a lot of references because growing up Stuart Scout and Chris Berman were like idols and so I just wanted to. I wanted to try and do that and that was the most fun. This has been fun. It's been awesome so glad we got to do something together again. We get to hang out here but we really good at this by the way thank you I appreciate like I. It's a look I'm in the I'm in the host studying. I told you I was listening to you and Chris Mannix Howard's really good at this podcast thing. Thank you yeah it. It's it's it was such a foreign concept to me to be sitting in a chair like this with headphones on and a microphone. Whatever leading eating it like I was used to being interviewed but doing being in this chair at stake? I mean it's been three years in. I think if I listened to some of the early stuff I would cringe I still cringe. Sometimes I tried to listen to myself itself but I do. This is the most fun I have a lot of the time. Writing is great. Yes so but this format shared experience so much fun. Yeah Ed this is awesome again. I'm fucking thrilled for you. I cannot wait to turn on the TV Tuesday night. It's the show comes on at. I believe it seven. And we're going to be he doing. It's a thirty minute pre game show which is longer than usual because we're going to be announcing I believe the rising stars and then the next week we're announcing the Saturday night participants Nice Dunk contest. Three point like and to be able to actually like it is going to be Tuesday night. Show of record and I get to be part of it and I can't wait. I appreciate all the things..

"And that's I'm telling you through the research I just keep being more and more impressed with the man that check is and you realize the military family. The upbringing bringing the constant moving. And you realize that's why he can connect with everybody is he was always doing that and I think also with shack. Everyone complains complains about Shaq's accomplishments as though they're not good enough and shack so content and that's such a funny dichotomy where shack is like I. They have four titles. I feel great and we're all like well. What about this? What about that? And he's like I'm good and I don't think it's to shut us up or took took too because he's embarrassed. I think he's like that. Was that chapter. I now one of the biggest most successful businessman in America like when he brings another another product on the set. Or when you're driving around Atlanta and you pass a Papa John's in his one eight hundred call shack because he owns that Papa. John's you know what I mean or like. He sees the product ring that video thing he goes. That's great product and now he's like part owner like he's moved on to this next stage and I think that we're all very excited. Because I think we all know that what the show means. And so Look the fact that they're onset together together and we can talk about things like you know Paul. George haven't played a lot together. What is it like to kind of create that relationship? Can you do that in the Klaus now. We have two teammates not two guys that were on separate super teams. That could talk. Oh no no no. They were teammates. And so that's a unique perspective and that's we'll dive into it and you know me I'm a I like to start by no but I think that's a great point actually. I hadn't even considered that right Shack and Charles Kenny O.. Bring their own stuff to the table from their own experiences and they played against each other and shack and Chuck Famously Asleep brawled right. I was there that night that was horrified. Office head on my God yes and we were sitting courtside back then because that was back in the media is he's really four four they sold all our seats were millions and millions of dollars and we actually got bad it makes sense. Yeah but it's is it was it was so much more interesting to be is going to gain. You've sat down there. Oh yeah no ruins your for life. There's there's nothing nothing compared to what you were there. We were there. That was that what they used to call the summit and it was it was the Compaq Center like Compaq Computers Compaq even exist anymore now like gateway CEO MTA Compaq Center which is where the rockets are playing in. That was Yeah we we were sitting courtside when that things just went erupted out of control enormous human being enormous human beings that chuck actually lifted shack off. The ground is just I one of the most insane thing. That's awesome but you're right so shack and Dwayne have actually played together. Hogan body slammed Andre the giant. But they'll know there will be a different dynamic because because they had been teammates and they'll be able to speak to what the difficulties were. And who knows. Maybe you guys get into the whole bitter ending right. which should we at this point point? There's no point anybody denying it anymore. Shack cops the stuff much more easily when it was happening. Oh you mean you re tweeted me. Recently were shack was like I'm going to admit it. I was afraid of Jordan when we first played. That's the stuff that you look for out of analysts is the truth the sharing of emotions and I think also the fact that Wade has so many connections to the big guys in the sport right now Lebron. The Way Chris Paul is playing has that thunder team playing the way that the entire Mba community is is kinda faster say a little bit still in Carmelo so we have all the banana boat guys. Covered shack is like the big brother to a lot of these guys and I heard him saying this recently on. ESPN the N.. They did a special about how big man has changed. He's like if you want to know what I'd be like in today's game and if you really watch old shack on that magic not going coast to coast I see it so he has that dynamic and then Kansas has been away for twelve years. And that's the epicenter center of the NBA. Right now is Clippers Lakers so my job again tapping into them like trace APP and getting getting those stories where we get done a segment I go. That was good..

"You can show him a Gif. We've I've seen a million times and he's never seen it before and that's hilarious. He sees someone fall out. DASS hilarious Stephen at home does good. I like data eh down from good now for us. We know them all so for us. It's how do we use them. As part of the conversation I look at it as inside is inside our goal is how do we be the NBA. Show of record on Tuesday nights have a great time. And while we're we're doing it create a connection for us for that it looks like we're having fun on TV. The other thing is I think is is really important is inside an MBA on team what they do in Turner they let it breathe. I've seen rundowns at other television shows and the block and the B block. And and it's like we're GONNA have this. You'RE GONNA have this at Turner. It's we're GONNA hit Luca and that's all it says it doesn't say who's going to say what it doesn't say say we're GONNA roll this video package now for me. I talked to the producers and I know what video packages we have but everyone out there. We're just talking and I I think that's why people like it too is it's it's conversational. It's free flowing whereas a lot of other shows are are segmented and that's why it seems forced where this one it's like let's see work goes. Yeah and that is the beauty of that if you leave it open ended and you allow it to breathe. But also there's the benefit of years of them together where that chemistry and that understanding and being able to read each other lends itself to it being kind of open ended. You don't have to structure it for you guys you're GONNA be starting from scratch like you're GonNa have to kind of build it as you go. Think about when you go out to eat when you hear how long a food has been cooked. It makes it more appetizing. Twelve hour cooked ribs eight hour slow cooked pork and you go because there is time. I know it's baked in and that's GonNa be the challenge for us as sort of how do we pick it up quickly. And that's why it falls on me because I after the Nash. I have to be the guy that kind of goes out. That will. He's on the show. So let me think of another Bob cousy. That has to figure out a way to figure Garwood. Everyone's strengths are and make it seem like we've known each other for years and for me. That's an awesome challenge by the way. I'm glad that both times you said that you said gift with the hard G. I'm very much pro. Oh the hard g and you say shift. Because that's the Creator said but I kept getting angry tweets G. stands in for graphic With just as orgy but also jeff is a fucking peanut butter. How'd you has been a peanut butter my entire life if you say Jeff? I'm thinking peanut butter. I don't want my peanut butter confuse. You can moving picture we were more of a skippy house. I was as well crunchier creamy. See this is one of those foals did you. He's GonNa get upset at you know. Oh you're both false binary. I'm I'm amber peanut. Butter is I'm a bit like it's a mood thing like creamy peanut butter lot. I liked crunchy lot. It just like if you put in front of me I will not be disappointed. It's like regular EMINEM's peanut eminem's both good I don't have to like I like candidates both. Yeah but creamy is better creamy. Just fundamentally better yeah it just the way it interacts with the Jelly. You know sometimes you want a little bit of of of of chips come on every every kid that at the core of course of course well Jim anything that's like well if you want. The crunchiness Chicote creamy peanut butter flavored. Toast your bread. That's where you get your crunch or you can take like captain crunch and stick how. That's a rule breaker. Our how much time have you spent. You've always been a bunch of time down in Atlanta. 'cause you you've obviously you know the the whole lay out there but as far as shack dwayne hit the great the the cool Commercial Little Teaser with Dwayne weren't even in the same room for that really no because they shot him. Slow motion has to be on different cameras. So I'm looking and had a dot and I'm like Duane. You're the man Bro. You're you're like this is like Acting with Jabba. The HUTT Antibiotic stuff I thought. It was impressive for talking to dot. Damn Man I was. I was impressed I was I was convinced. How much time have you not with virtual dwayne dot? I remember like how much have you actually had with dwayne Shack Shack Candice Does Turner put you through at a rehearsal where you guys can at least fake it once and get a feel for it like how do you even prepare for that as a team. We're going to do some run. throughs throughs in some walk-throughs the Monday before so if it's coming on Monday today Just to Kinda get the feel for where we're all GonNa Stand Chakai of interactions now with for a years because bleacher report whenever there would be like. Hey here's your time to talk to the inside guys like I did a true detective season two trailer with Charles and Shack Act like four or five years ago and I everytime I go down there whether it's for like an NBA twitter show. We we see each other and that's been great weighed when we did the thing commercial. We got to go out and have dinner together with like Tara and Craig Barrett Turner and and that was fun because even over dinner. You get the vibe of the other guy like I'm I'm talking to wait about wine and Scotch and and we're talking about like his kids playing and all that it's you get the vibe of who you are and candice. I've been texting with the most because canvas I've done a few of the NBA twitter shows with and I don't know there's like an interesting connection there because I feel like we're both at the same level of excitement where we're ready to go wouldn't like let's let's take this to another level like let's surprise people but It's crazy because there are people that I've looked up to a different times like I remember when candice dunked in the the NBA. Like that is a superstar. You know in Tennessee and like how dominant she was weighed to watch like the farewell tour and then to see. Oh by the way. Ah Dinner I was like. Can I tell you. What am I fair basketball moments? He's like shows like when Michael Carter Williams had a triple double against you guys. In game one of the season he was like yeah. We did lose that game. I I thought we were the ship and he was like. I'm glad that was crate and then shack like shack is the greatest entertainer since Barnum and Bailey. Like you can watch anything. Anything and shack has a commercial yes and then also he walks shack. We were talking about this downstairs. Shack is a guy that when you meet him he changes your life off because you now have a shack story like if he walks into walgreens and comes up to like an older woman and kiss her on the top of the head. She's telling that for the rest of her her life. If shack walks goes out shirt like you're going to be like a really nice shirt shack like he'll mess your whole life because it check it so oh I'll have to contain my fan hood but that's what I've like. I say to after sitting next to same Jackson. I'm not scared anymore. Yeah because the scariest thing is going. Hey Samuel what do you think about this an MBA. I'm over you like if same doesn't think you're not like if he thinks you're not cool. You're screwed rude. You're just reduced to a pile of rubble. So after me and him kind of connected I was like this is going to be easy I. It's it's been easy ever since that's been my like after that I'm good and like I don't know Kansas at all. We've met a couple of times. I don't hardly know her but she seems like easy to yes. Engage with. dwayne Wade has has always been fantastic just a personality or sizing. How approachable helmet? He's he's he's incredible and really bright and really they gleaned and he was like tell me about you just like shut the fuck up which very rarely happens in our line of and Shack of course is everything that people probably probably perceive him to be. He's the biggest kid in the room and it doesn't matter how old he gets. He still just a big kid and he's gregarious like he can be Moody As beat days I'll I can't imagine from that side. I'll say this though I was watching a few. I've been watching like documentaries. As many as I can find all these guys to get information and the thing that I learned about shack is really. How intelligent is it's a part of him that I think people overlook he has incredible comedic timing incredible he has a real sense of what is going to work on television? And because I've been watching inside with a pen and a paper and I'm watching like how he interacts with Ernie and stuff. Sometimes I think he's the smartest guy on set and I'm not saying this because he's not gonNA list like I dunno shackling sincere podcast. I'm sorry but there are times times where I go shacks the one that gets the most. Yeah and and it's it's just a part of him that I think people overlook but the business side of him and like how he's navigated that part of his life but also like I noticed this about shack shack appreciates about Ernie is how hard earned he works. That I was down there one time and Ernie had these note cards because he if you ever notice he has no cards and he has one for each segment just a quick reminder. What we're talking about here so you don't need all the notes and and they don't use teleprompters so it's not like he needs words which is perfect because I do not use teleprompters? I can't read. I'm just kidding. But he was throwing Arne was starting out the note cards in shackles. The Mo and he's like I'm done with the show I got home and shakes like you'll see them like you should save them. But I know that shack appreciates attorney's effort so much and that's what I appreciate on Ernie but like they're just like the little nuggets pick up on these guys that add a little context is to just being the guy that sits on the left. And that's that's the shit that I love us. I've done this with Uber. Oh yeah no yeah. I don't think you I know we would do videos together. I be like okay Howard in the beginning for sure the fact that we would have to videos that were two minutes. And thirty seconds or less would infuriate you royal because it would be things like who's the most overrated player in the Hall Star Game and you'd be like if I don't give context I can't do this. Yeah and so what I always do. Is I would tell the producers I take let Howard go. Just let them go and if our first video is four minutes let it before minutes minutes because if we were after the first one came and we got to be shorter you would be like give me the fuck out of here. Yeah and so you have to know what people want. No you were graded did that. An thank God by the way that you newman..

"TNT they were so good then we had a little freeze come through and the bottom part of the tree pro help grow the branches that produce those sweet oranges now they're coming out again with our discount at the top of the tree but they taste terrible right because what you are grown what you are growing is a sour orange the root stock was a sour orange root stock that they grafted this sweeter fruit on too when we talk about all these free tree sales they're going to be coming up in January and February and people buy these orange trees there already grafted at so you're not gonna probably get it to ever change its taste flavor it can sometimes it'll go through a reversion there's no guarantee on that but anytime you go through a freeze if you lose the treat beyond the graft which you did because it came back from the base then what's growing is sour orange the root stock that they grafted this sweet orange on to okay is there it impossible to regret it no absolutely it's a very viable option so you got to be able to find the new fruit for you one find somebody who's growing or some place that has a sweet fruit that's doing gangbusters right now and we're gonna have to learn to take a cutting I'm pretty sure this is not the time the year to take the cutting usually April may or to the best months to take the cuttings from the orange tree that you want and grafted on to that so you need to do a little there's all kinds a you tube videos out there on the grafting it's so easy it's the most people make it sound like it's such a hard thing to do it's not a one take the missed out of that for you such an easy thing is just the right tool the right type of cutting in the right tableau grafting method it'll it'll do you wonder so keep growing the tree because you can you beat me to the question before I even had a chance to say it as that of the tree looks healthy otherwise grow it and use it as a rafting source use it as a base because that's that Cerrone's rootstock one of the best basis for grafting citrus on to in the long run alright here is her to in spring branch up next morning her to you are on the air good morning Randy my granddaughters they are buying two acres in new Braunfels Texas I want to move bottom it's not more than five feet tall.

"Makes sense but it makes sense on that platform and you know look this is this is where we cue the Kiefer Sutherland sound effect but it feels like snow piercer. Sir has become the new designated survivor. This is a show that has had to show runners to directors has been on the same network now twice has already been detoured eh five months detour at TBS. Don't pre already renewed for season two. no-one seen it until spring twenty twenty they. I put it in development at TNT in two thousand sixteen like I don't care how good or bad this show is because the behind the scenes means of it is so much more compelling already. It is definitely a show that is practically begging for every train related pun you could put in a lead whether it's the a train wreck whether it's referencing the number of times that this particular train has gone off the tracks left the station but we have no idea where it's going or who's on board and it's still just so baffling because the two announcements of the drama pick up to tbs and then the one drama that was on tbs leaving they yes and going back came within minutes of each other two hours and the cloth the came like I'm going to read this quote or at least try to make my way through it this is the quote that came from tbs and TNT about Snow Piercers move and this is from Kevin Riley who oversees all things TBS TNT and overseas and true TV and overseas content for each max quote. We've had the unique opportunity to more thoroughly test and explore where the show will best perform while we are still adding dramas to tbs such as obliterated after further research in consideration we've decided to keep snow piercer on TNT now that we've seen this incredible post apocalyptic apocalyptic sci fi series in its entirety and better understand the audience this show will appeal to we're confident it will perform strongest on TNT. This is a coded way of saying we've never before had a show that we've had entirely in the can and hasn't premiered yet and had let's say six to twelve months to over think. I think the process that we're doing entirely in the public eye because we keep making these announcements for no reason whatsoever they did not need to announce that snow piercer was moving from TNT into a solid eight months before that thing he made the announcement with zero context and zero executives talking about it like these are networks that are at a turning turning-point and nobody knows what the hell they're doing whether they're internally or from our vantage point either because I look we're writing these stories. I can't explain it. I don't know why they're doing this stuff. We're we're trying to get an exact Kevin Reilly Brett whites. If you're listening come on down a top five seriously we won't be mean but we may ask several different times and Y Y and please explain but you know seem like fair reasonable questions and we'll only torment you with one or two train sound effects but but you know what actually is definitely on TBS Leslie They Bang Theory. No baseball there we are that sounds like a transition position.

"Be doing a Po- show on eighty w dynamite might on Wednesday night soon as the show goes off the air within five minutes. We'll be on the air taking your calls in analyzing the show so join us then for that and then you can download the entire higher show including our on site correspondent and our mailbag segment that'd be on the red feed that'll be available very late. Wednesday night a little sooner for VIP members than for free listeners so if you're not a VIP member good incentive is earlier access by somewhere between twenty minutes in an hour and a half just depending on on editing and scheduling the VIP members get an earlier look at or earlier listen to the PLO show so be sure Wednesday night or first thing Thursday morning to download the Awa dynamite po show then I'll be hosting tomorrow night so a lot of podcasts and coming up. No doubt this is a good one. I really enjoyed this conversation. I learned a lot and I think you will too so here. Go Awa President Tony Kahn Tony. Thanks for joining me today here on the way killer podcast I assume today's pretty busy but do you feel like everything is sort of in place or oh my God. I've only got like over twenty four hours before we're alive. Where are you mentally know. This is like the complete opposite of how it wasn't school. I am not cramming at all were very well prepared and we've done all the work in advance and this is not like a last minute cramming session. is quite the opposite. I feel really really great about where we're at and I'm so excited about the first episode the dynamite tomorrow night can't believe it so it's on it's on TNT. Is that right now. Of course I think I heard let's talk. Speaking of which I talk about the advertising strategy is much as you can say in terms about where you've run ads like what the budget strategy was is what you expect to get in return for that and in terms of maybe a percentage increase in ratings because you've had ads on NFL Games. You've had has obviously on Warner media. Just talk about that strategy and what went into it yeah. I don't know if the election is getting this kind of coverage. We're getting amazing amazing press. I I it's a seriously like I I'm very thankful to the folks at TNT TNT and everyone working at Awa because they've done a great job getting the message out about the show on TNT tomorrow and the advertising during NFL Games was with a strategy strategy that we talked about. I think that's the premium ads base in American advertising is you know NFL TV ads and for us to get him. You know it was great real estate for us. I know you've seen the AD during the Vikings versus bears game and then there was also an ad during our game the Jaguars worst of the broncos goes game which you know we want which made it twice as Nice when that ad on TV copy and yeah. I'm just throw about it. they've done a great job advertising the show and we tried to get the message out you know both to like hardcore wrestling fans people who follow a wrestling sites that are social media and also through advertising on a lot of TV including wrestling TV. Have you done any other advertising Radio Radio Youtube facebook. Like what kind of strategy do you slash. I wonder media employees and believe in There's been some. There's been a significant different amount of podcasting advertising some podcasts. I'm sure most wrestling fans are very familiar with done some cool stuff with my friend Conrad and his podcast gas and you know the collaboration with star cast always great for our pay per views and and through that we've been able to get the word out about our TV to the hardcore fans and then yeah through you know things like you talked about social media facebook ads and then again through really mainstream TV ads whether it was is like the NFL ads we CBS or stuff that Warner has put together through their family relationship with HBO and the stuff we've done at airports you know you you come into some of the biggest airports in the world and you'll see ads for eight w on you know the screens Raines when you when you get off the plane or as you're waiting to board your plane and then we've also done some really awesome stuff in addition to that movie theaters where you go see a movie and and you know one of the trailers for Awa dynamite which I think is pretty awesome. That's so cool there's been during Ron. smackdown are those like just individual cable company buys or national. That's my understanding and I didn't you know we didn't to be honest the that was part of the partnership with TNT ent and Warner media they had purchased some of those ads and so it wasn't wasn't our idea in the first place to purchase something a good idea so what kind of research research or knowledge have you acquired in terms of the potential fan base of lapsed fans disgruntled fans uninspired fan into early watching a little bit or no wrestling that you think this ad blitz is GonNa. Bring back with images of Chris Jericho Jon Moxley and cody. Is it guesswork work. Is it hunches. Is it hard research. I don't think I don't think it is guesswork. I think we've got a business case for it. I mean there was the business case before we he had created a w or spend a dime or you know signed anybody was that we believe there were millions of APPs fans and there are millions of people that you know had been a regular wrestling watchers and and it was certainly a major part of their lives 'cause you saw you know big ratings every week for years and then that that kind of dropped off and I realized that there were a lot of people that like wrestling and you know there was great engagement with social media as far as wrestling went and I I love wrestling and I've never stopped loving wrestling and a lot of the wrestling I was watching that was the best wrestling wasn't really as readily available as it could have been most people didn't know about it and I felt like if you know some of the products are out there had better production values and to be honest like different creative direction in some ways and in different focus on you know some of the talent you know trying to trying to focus on the right people and Marketing to both like people who are really hardcore wrestling fans because there are a lot of people consuming a lot of wrestling that are really right now but there are also like millions of people we can bring back back and make it that much better for everybody because you know it. It's that much more fun for all of us. Obviously it's more profitable. It's more lucrative for the wrestlers and fans. It's obviously obviously a better experience when you're a big arenas and big shows with big production values and I think we're getting back to that. You know we've never been at a place like right right now where the production values have never been higher you know and not just with us. I think you know there have been changes. Recently you know we're we're not the only wrestling company using a lot of pyro anymore anymore and so I think it's it's great for the fans and you know does that make sense there. It was so there was a business case to begin with and then since then we've gone out and done you know pay per views that have been the most successful pay per views commercially than anybody has done this millennium. you know. I was hoping when we launch day W that my belief was if we WCW and its dying days still had had a very large audience and my belief was that if we went out that there would still be some market share there and if we could get back to where they were at the end and build off it would be great but in terms of pay per view and live attendants. We've actually are way ahead of where WCW wasn't last year because in our first to pay per views we did better by rates than anything thing they did in about the last year the company certainly after Bash at the beach two thousand when Hogan walked out and in terms of live attendance yeah. We've done a few shows now including tomorrow night. It'll be the third one that we've done that drew more fans than any. WCW Show in the last year the company was operating and it's the third show and we've only done three shows in the building's size bear in mind cause the other five shows. The other two are in smaller buildings that you know had good crowds to a bigger than I think. WCW might've at the end as well in those buildings so I guess my point is yeah like I not only did. Was this business case going in before we launched. That's the company but so far is. We've operated on some pay per views. we've seen it. There is evidence there and if you look at our buys a you know there are a lot of people buying a w paper views and and consuming wrestling that were not consuming. WWe What were they consuming a lot of different things. They might not have been watching ruffling at all. Some of them were maybe watching. WWE but not up large percentage nowhere close to a majority and you know so. It's really interesting but I also. I think that the early evidence supports the business case that I watch the company off so what rating are expecting on Wednesday. Oh come on. I did my vet straight. I don't think anybody's ever answer that question in a position similar to yours but are there okay a more and more serious question do you internally with TNT. Have you talked numbers and expectations without getting into specifics so we can headline w Oh you comes up. Twenty percent short of expectations aren't GonNa not hard numbers but have you internally talked about what the expectations are kind of having your mind a confidence. You'll you'll at least hit those yeah. I I am confident. I hit them. I I am almost grateful to them because I think they set a bar. I think we can hit and and really hit in in my allowed to to. What's the rating on your podcast wait. I just write down when people wearing the show's over. I edit what I feel need to be. Well we can we can really beat the heck out of these numbers they gave us and I think we can really beat the heck out of him and so I expect that we will beat the number they gave us because there are expectations for me are actually below my own expectations for the show. "One of the biggest months in, in wrestling at a very long time because AWOL would've Ori. Yes. Thank you. Yes. We'll get the impact maybe. But this is a big deal. It's a big month and it's it would be a big deal, just with AWB deal just with FOX, which you combine the two of them. Wow. I mean just clear your calendar, if you're not just a wrestling fan, but, you know and shows like this, I think people are wrestling fans but they're also fans of just following the industry and the trends in the ebbs and flows the ups and downs and the personalities and the drama behind the scenes. And, and, you know, the, the, the east coast, west coast, sh digs that are taken by different personalities at others. And that kind of thing this is going to be fun. What, what is a successful? Viewership number four eighty w on TNT TNT doesn't do a million viewers very often smackdown and raw do consistently above two million raw this week. You know, the, the third hour barely stayed above two million two point zero eight million. It started at over two point five million smackdown this week did one point eight two seven million. The lowest viewership total in the show's history this week, by the way. What's realistic for aid? And what's a good number for TNT, which, again for context, other than the NBA rarely does more than a million viewers, unless it's like a marquee movie. They buy rights to Lord, I don't, I don't even know just haven't had time to really wrap my mind around that TNA did seven hundred thousand on in that million range for a stretch on spike different era. Big names, part of the show during some of that stretch, although yeah, so I don't I don't know what to expect landscapes different. I mean one TV industry source said that he thinks a million is doable on the first week and TNT would love it and seven hundred thousand our above would be a success for TNT at this point. I think if Awa does that and it's not a disaster and a disaster would be three hundred thousand like impact, you know, level numbers from a couple of years ago, custodian just can't have a show doing that number on their on TNT as. Much as TNT once they're shell other from herself. But there are just a greatly reduced network at this point compared to the nineties, my take an with the TV industry source seven hundred thousand plus out of the gate. Good something to build on a million great deal. AWS should say, let's negotiate right now for a better deal. And, but I'd say five hundred thousand or below is, oh, this could be the plug could be pulled this, this the popularity of the product, you know, for the YouTube videos for being the elite doesn't, you know, doesn't translate can't project that out by ten or five to get the viewership numbers for weekly TV. I don't know. I mean I can't wait till mid October. When we get these numbers. It's so hard to say I mean, I so much of it's going to depend on the marketing push to how are they willing to both Awa and Turner, get behind this, and really try to spread the word. I mean, you're gonna have your core wrestling audience for sure. What can you get beyond that, you know, how many casual fans can you attract to this, and, you know, being in the heart of, of NBA see early on in the NBA season that's going to help if you don't get their swimming that they're willing to deliver some promotion for the for show or hopefully beyond that I that can only help them? I mean, I gosh, I mean, I think a million is doable. I mean I, I know it airs after the smackdown show but I mean, the, the mizzen MRs show is topped two million viewers last night, or on Tuesday night at and that's kind of crazy. When smackdown does one point eight two seven million. And for some reason, MS and MRs. Just below nine hundred thousand the week before. So I didn't expect it's kind of been like win smack downs numbers down. So as MS and MRs and for whatever reason this week that wasn't the case. So I mean that and then you mentioned impact, I mean, they would top a million viewers at one point. I think if you the key is just letting people know and.
