"You couldn't pay me a million dollars a year to do his job, Mike. Why? If I'm not getting shot at or assaulted, if I actually do my job, there's a potential that I lose my job and get arrested. Why would you want to do that job? And then we wonder why we have less police officers. Welcome to another Financial Guys podcast. I'm Mike Hayflick, along with Mike Speraza. Mike, back after a beautiful Labor Day weekend. Yeah. It seems like the summer finally turned into summer here in the last week of the, uh, you know, no school times because it's been weird all summer, rain, warm, cold, windy. And then this weekend was pretty much perfect from Friday on. Beautiful. Yeah. I mean, I'm thinking middle of August to like middle of October that might be the best weather maybe in the country. I mean, it's calm. It's like 55, 60 at night, 75, maybe even 80. It's gorgeous. I don't know why more people don't come here in the summertime because it's really a great place to be. I do feel bad for kids though, because they're going back to school and 90 degrees schools and that's never fun. Yeah. The heat wave comes at the worst time. Yeah. Feel for those kids. 90 degrees in a school with no air conditioning is not fun. I remember. Well, they're just going to have to suck it up. I remember walking to school and like three foot snow uphill, both ways, six miles, eight miles home. I mean, I don't know how that could happen, right? Yeah. But they'll remember, but in the wintertime when it's not 90, they will, well, I'll be going, ah, we wish it was hot and humid again. That's right. So, um, so football season is upon us, Mike, um, massive upsets in college football already. Um, Colorado led by Deion Sanders and his son at QB, um, upsets Texas Christian university, TCU, a ranked team. And then last night, Duke, Duke, who's known for basketball, right? Yep. They ended up beating Clemson of all teams. Um, so are you into college football too? I am. I'm actually all in on the Deion Sanders train right now, too. I love what he's done with that program. I love his, his fire. He's never scared of anything. Uh, I love that. That was, that game was a lot of fun. I don't know if you watched that live, Mike, that was, um, back and forth. I think 80 points were scored in the game. It was wild kick returns, interceptions, touchdowns. I mean, you name it. They had it in that game. It was awesome. What's cool. I think, and I'm not saying like, you know, losing sucks, but some teams have lost for so long. And then to see a coach, the Clemson coach with his head down and he's just, he's shocked. That his team can possibly lose that his team could possibly be throwing picks. And, and, you know, at the very key moments in the game, like I like that because then it shows other losing teams, like with, you know, the history of losing that, yes, if you just work your ass off, you know, come together, get the chemistry, get a leader like a Deion Sanders to come in and say, I believe in you. Don't let anyone in the news tell you otherwise. I love that. Well, that's why I like him. And, you know, to bring it to politics, like it's, it's, it's, it's the Trump model, right? Of just I'm going to tell you how I feel and I'm going to, I'm going to prove what I say. And it's fun, right? I mean, you, you need, there's going to be a lot of people that hate him out there. I'm not one of them. I think he's awesome. But he's got that the bravado, right? Like I'm not scared of anything. I'm going to tell you how I feel. And you're right, Mike, we're going to go from zero to a hundred and it's going to take us five minutes instead of taking us 50 years. And he did that, right? I mean, not to say they're going to win a national championship this year, but they're going to compete every week, right? And this is a program that has stunk for the better part of two to three decades, right? So they're going to be, they're going to be pretty good. We're going to be fun to watch. And it's going to be fun to see the show of Deion Sanders. Cause I love it. And his son is a stud too, by the way, his quarterback son is a stud. All right. Now how about your grand Island Vikings? Yeah. Yeah. 35 nothing win on Friday. So that's a good start to the season. Nice. Very good. We'll see. We'll see what happens here. North Tonawanda coming up this week, but, beat up Newport 35 -0 last Friday night or this Friday night, I should say a couple of days ago.

"We wanted to talk about here and Randall, who is the lead byline in this, along with Ira Boudway, really did a marvelous job nailing this one. What ultimately we're talking about here is a new coach at the University of Colorado, if you haven't been paying attention to college football, I don't know where you've been because this has been must see TV. No one in college football has, as we write in the deck, harnessed the power of social media, the NCAA transfer portal and his own celebrity. They took Colorado and obviously we're only a couple games into the season. This school has gone from being a perennial loser to must see TV. There are so many millions, billions of dollars at stake that college football is able to influence the economics of college football are amazing. And along comes Dionne who transfers into Colorado and has put Colorado on the map and it really encapsulates how all of these changes in college football, uh, no one has been able to leverage it quite like Dionne and make it look as this much fun. So Randall went to Colorado and got to a watch game. What struck you about what he's building? So there's a show called coach prime coming and there's obviously you get to see all the glitz and glamour, all the glitz and glamour, but none of it is for show when you're him. around It is all truly authentic to who he is. There is no, Oh, turn it on. Turn it off. Coach prime is coach prime. The quotes are not fake. He does not like write it down. There is no paper. Everything that he says on the spot is truly off the top of his head. Is he just the right guy at the right place? And I'm thinking about Neil and I'm thinking about just some of the changes that have happened with college athletes that he's just someone who gets it and just came in at the right time and it's just exploded. It's both. He is someone who can relate to college athletes. I always call it Neil. I know it's name image likeness. It's all good. It's all good. Thank you. You're just kind. He's someone who gets the college life better than anybody. He was a professional athlete. He was a college athlete and he marketability understands probably better than any athlete ever because he was one of the most marketable athletes in the 90s. And so when you take that and you say hey I can teach you not only how to play well I can get you drafted and I can get you exposed more so than maybe any college in the world as far as athletics go. Because you think about it isn't just the media where they're playing at 10 a .m. or 12 a .m. or even a late night game it is his social media handle is it is the prime video documentary and it's his son social media handles it's excuse me all three of his son's social media handles. Also worth mentioning that his son is the quarterback of the team in the Heisman conversation already yeah so there's a lot going on here for sure I gotta confess I'm a duck University of Oregon that is who Colorado plays as we can this so is you know what I what I do appreciate about this is that he is off to a incredible start but the season's gonna test him now right right so that's the thing everybody has when he stepped in Colorado was one in 11 last year and now there are three and all so there's three times as many wins you could consider that a victory but he doesn't now the first three games TCU I believe lost the majority of their starters some graduated some went to the draft Nebraska's had a good defense but their quarterback has been a turnover machine and in the Colorado State game it was great theatrics but they should have blown them out yeah now Oregon is coming or they're going to Colorado Oregon is and it's one of these things where this is a football talent over the last decade that has been dominant and so can Colorado go in there and win because let me tell you right now if Colorado goes to wins the game where USC comes to Colorado Boulder yeah it it might be higher rated in the national championship yeah I agree and it will speak to where college football's going right where when suddenly we have a big 12 that has both those teams in it like we have a completely different pandemic which is why these multi -billion dollar TV deals have become the new language of college football well that's what I was going to ask you if you lose does Fox say eh coming we're not to no no no absolutely not he's too electric I mean you so I tried to do to work this in and the story it just didn't make the cut but I tried to add all of the coasters actually took something out of this incredible story I bet every nugget was so good I'll talk to my people no I didn't write the sentence because wasn't it worth it so I added every single pack 12 Instagram fault coaches Instagram followers together and to tried see just how much it would be in comparison idea it's not even remotely close I mean he I think it was and so it's one of these things where yes the hype train will slow down the broadcast may not come out as much but it's Deion Sanders he and his sons and the program are electric if they're they let's say four and four and eight weeks which I don't think they will be but if they are people are gonna still be talking about the gimmicks and the things that they do to make the program fun element the that is also just kind of worth mentioning there is one of the reasons that he's able to do all this is because of the transfer portal the team that he inherited and the team that he has right now completely different rosters and that could have never happened really until the past couple years yeah so he's been able to like use that profile that he has but then also the changes to the NCAA have enabled it and if it happens in college football it could happen in college basketball like well we could see this it is very it's controversial very controversial because you're essentially walking into a room full of athletes were there who before you got there and saying well you guys better get on board or get out of the way this is what he did in his first team in Colorado but but with that you know it's one of these things where if he doesn't do that and he parrots these players who maybe didn't win as many games as they should have or didn't compete to the level that he wants then what then he's then people are gonna be saying oh look Dion he could do it at Jackson State he couldn't do it at Colorado so it's two -sided coin but he's winning right now you know the other thing he's doing is selling sunglasses and we did this little side bar the merch the merch is also just worth talking about because so there was some shade thrown at Dion for not taking his sunglasses and his hat off at a press conference he turned that into motivation and endorses he these sunglasses right how much product did they sell? they sold 1 .2 million dollars for $67 sunglasses in a day and when I talk to the blenders I wear the CEO he said that at one time point when Dion was on set they were selling a pair a second oh my god insane I to have say and people go read it go online buy the magazine just check it out because the economic of impact what's happening in the town in terms of hotel rooms and just the tickets and so forth is unbelievable seventy million dollars in just one week imagine what's gonna happen if let's say LeBron says I'm going to Colorado for the USC game if he just says imagine what it's going to be by the end of the season it could be very well over 120 million dollars it's truly like what you know why you make a higher like this yeah but then everything else that has transpired is obviously going their way and it's amazing to see like this football program that really has not been significant for decades suddenly on the map and being led by somebody who's truly electric alright watch some football but definitely read this story no about doubt it it's a feature story Randall Williams Bloomberg News u .s. sports business reporter and our good way and and the the editor of Businessweek, Joe Weber here. Great story. Bloomberg Radio on demand and in your podcast feed on the latest edition of the Bloomberg Daybreak US edition podcast we looked at whether the auto workers strike is expanding with Bloomberg's Craig Trudell. I think the sort of wide held reputation is that this is a strike that will expand they've talked about you know by noon Friday if they don't have substantial progress made in these negotiations that they will sort of up the ante here so I think you know what what we've heard as this you know strike is is now you know a weekend is really that the sort of bid and ask here between the the union and the companies pretty remains vast and not a whole lot of budging on either side. So what are the biggest sticking points at this

I'm ecstatic for these guys. Get to another sweet 16. That's 8 in a row, which is just an incredible testament by our program and what we've been able to do these last 8 years. "TCU is playing in Denver against Arizona state or Nevada, two teams that in conference play played altitude TCU does not play at altitude in the big 12. That also maybe could be a factor to keep an eye on with the potential second round matchup with Gonzaga. Like Boone, I am on I really like Gonzaga's chances to make a deep run all the way to the elite 8 or maybe even the final four. I heard a wise man say that all I do is pour a drink and sort some data. And I texted that man. I said, you know what I'm doing? Important to drink and I'm sorting some data. And he said, I'm doing the same. And when you sort that data is the best team in the country over the last years. And so very excited to see what happens there. Northwestern poison state doesn't do a ton for me. So I feel like it's really much really setting up for the UCLA Gonzaga rematch and then seeing if Kansas is going to be able to get through what could be a tough couple of games after not covering in the first half against Howard. Any other first round game are all the lines as we do this all the lines are out right there obviously. Any other first round game line that sticks out to you that you like any other one. If not, that's fine. I just want to make sure we're covering those bases. Yeah, not much in this round. There's nothing too tasty because then you're also going to be looking at totals. I know I got you. I got you. Arizona state Nevada. Who do we like in that straight up in that first four? I'll say ASU. ASU. Yeah. I think ASU is favored in the game, but Nevada is better, Nevada is better in metrics, but I think ASU has to actually is actually favored in the game. ASU or Nevada. Unity lock, ASU. Let's head. Here we go. All right. Boone. Pick the region. First round to a final four

This time they handled number 23 TCU 63 58, jayhawks coach Bill self on the difference between this game and the 23 point loss last month. At least we started to rebound in 40 minutes for the most part. We did a good job on their guys. We felt I could really have big nights. In the NHL, David pasternak scored twice. He's got 40 for the season and Boston one again, three one over Ottawa, Florida, top ten Anaheim four three and overtime. It was James reimer stopping 26 shots, lady San Jose to a four zero shutout of Seattle, Philadelphia top Calgary four three. New York islanders over Pittsburgh four to two, Bo horvat and Anders Lee scored less than two minutes apart in the third period. Lee says his team played a complete game and didn't fold against the penguins. I'm really proud of our guys tonight. We could have gone another way. And we pushed through and we took control and were able to come out with just a big one. While Winnipeg goalie caught her hella buck had a spectacular night, he made 50 saves, leading the jets past the New York rangers four to one. At this point, we just taken wins anyway to come. We did a lot of good things. We brought some energy. And we definitely kept into the outside and controlled rebounds. So, you know, there was definitely a lot of those good block shots. It could be K, power play goal. So there's a lot of good stuff tonight. I know the shots are flop sided, but it was a good team game. "On Saturday, what else Indiana beating Illinois? I gave you 37 and a half. And he hit 38. I noticed that. 38 and a really good win. If you listen to the Saturday pod obviously, we're talking in real time. Good job on Indiana to come back and get that win. Another impressive win and I know IU fans are familiar with this. Big tan fans familiar with this, but if you're just, if you're not checking in every single day, just a reminder, Xavier Johnson is the team's third best player and their lead guard. He is still out. And in theory, if he can come back and be effective, you are looking at a very, very viable second weekend team. So continued good signs for IU there. Anything else from Saturn that I think is worth pointing out here. I'm scrolling through it, because you know what? You mentioned off the top. There wasn't a ton of upsets. There wasn't a ton of off script stuff. I do want to note the powerful scene as expected at Chrysler, Michigan got the win 84 72. I'm going to paraphrase izzo here as well. I think he said something to the effect of if ever I wish I had the power to win one game ever, it was this one for our community and for those people here has allowed and clear, but he's done way above and beyond and it was a really really as expected emotional scene, but something I did appreciate was how all of that was the continual backdrop throughout the game. But jeez, the game had a lot of urgency to it. And Michigan really composed itself and it's got so much work to do from an at large resume perspective, GP. But it did win by 12. It got a very, very important one and in doing so would split the season series with Sparta. That was really sweet. You know, I've seen the video in the pictures. They turned it green. And it was just a really sweet moment. I don't know if you saw the tweet from the Michigan State Athletic director earlier, but he was like, I just want to thank Michigan. For doing, again, I'm paraphrasing. But for doing what you did this weekend, we are rivals in sports, but our humanity overruns any of. Any of the places where our colors separate us. It was just like, those are two big time. And we've seen, we've seen this in college sports. Now multiple times under awful circumstances over the past few months. After Mike leitch died, the Mississippi coach, almost literally put Mississippi state stuff on its uniform on its helmet when it played its bowl game. And those two very bitter, I mean bitter rivals. Really came together. Like obviously based on where I live, my wife's a old miscreant, my brother in law and sister in law or Mississippi. We're surrounded by this stuff and those two schools don't like each other. And almost fans, I think we're genuinely rooting from a sense to be stayed in their bowl game. And lane kiffin went to Mike leeches funeral. And they really showed, hey, we can come together in this moment. We don't like your football team and you don't like our football team, but this is bigger than that. And same thing for Michigan and Michigan state this weekend. I thought it was terrific. It really, I don't know. I thought it was awesome. I thought it was an awesome thing. I agree. A couple more leftovers from Saturday. I will note we have, I don't know if we poke fun at vandy, but whatever. Vanity's one 5 in a row. And it beat auburn. I think auburn fans were filling up more than half of that joint and they really made the trip up to Nashville. You don't really need many excuses to make that trip. But the point is, the jungle traveled and it just don't say it didn't matter. It was a close game, but Vanderbilt has quietly won 5 in a row. And you know a month ago, I think there was just curiosity like is not that stackhouse was like in grave jeopardy. But I was like, well, this continued to a 5th season or not. Well, you look up and they've turned into a factor there. Auburn remains a roving target in the dark and has won two games since January 25th. Those games at home against Georgia at home against Missouri, now they destroyed Missouri less than a week ago, but just don't really know much. Rutgers did get a good win by one. Real quick on that. Auburn has one win over a top 40 Ken pom team all season. And it was shorthanded Arkansas. They really haven't done much. I haven't even looked. Oh, look at this real quick. I feel like they beat northwestern. Hold on. I feel like palms got them like on the night. 21. I mean, I don't know where palm. The point I was saying, they're 21st to kin bomb. They have strong computer numbers. But not a very strong resume. Again, one win over top 40 Ken pump team all season and that win was over a shorthanded Arkansas team. And on Vanderbilt while you're looking that up. Jerry steakhouse coaching the G league before he coached at vandy and had a great reputation. He worked in the grizzlies organization. And had a great reputation. And it obviously has not gone well at Vanderbilt, but I don't know if you've heard the same stuff, but when I talk to coaches about Jerry stackhouse, they do not goof on him. The way they goof on some other coaches who aren't having success. All I've ever heard from other coaches is that Jerry stackhouse is really good. It just hasn't, the win law stuff hasn't been right. But he is respected in the coaching community. Like, I hear good stuff about Jerry steakhouse. And it now looks like some of that is starting to show itself. Vanderbilt's still not going to make the incidentally tournament. I mean, there's still just 15 and 12. Let's calm down a little bit. But they are playing well lately. You know, like you said, 5 game winning streak, victories over almost Tennessee, Florida, South Carolina auburn. He seems to have this team headed in the right direction. And now we'll see, assuming he's back next season, I think that's a reasonable assumption. We'll see if we can get the program headed in the right direction. That direction being toward the NCAA tournament. All right. I'm not going to let myself get out of here without being rightfully ribbed over Nebraska, but before we get to that, I did bring up palms bracket and this is going into the weekend. So he did have auburn on the 9 line that'll drop it. How about this? Nevada was on the line lost. Oklahoma state on the 9 line lost. Iowa got drugged by northwestern, which northwestern. Again, love to just barrel into this thing. Break down the double doors. Extremely impressive to continue this kind of momentum. Iowa, though, lost. NC state gets the dub pit 8 line lost. Memphis, 9 line, lost auburn 9 9 lost Michigan state 8 line loss.

And it's just, I'm not putting this on Pete Nance. All of it, but he's not Bernie mannik. And that's been clear for a while. He was one of two from three in this game. And he's now shooting 28% from three. That's not Bernie Manning would never. It's not a Brady manic, but I saw this tweeted out and I wasn't able to watch every possession. And he stayed at what? Three turnovers in this game? That's also on Carolina's defense for not inducing that. There was just real I'm bringing up the box right here, GP. That's three turnovers. Three? So it says as much as that as it is anything with what you're getting to, and I know you know that, but that's rare, rare stuff, three turnovers in a game. Also was a major factor. Here's the thing though, with North Carolina. This is crazy to even be in this position, February 19th, and you're pre season number one, and you have zero quadrant one wins. That's insanity. As noted on one of the podcasts last week, there's only 18s because wake forest at some point gained a quadrant one win. Just 'cause the number shifted. So heading into this weekend, there were 8 schools from in a power conference without a quadrant one win. And it's North Carolina in 7 schools that clearly aren't going to the NCAA tournament. And North Carolina still has a chance. I know it seemed wild, but they're not that far from the right side of the bubble. 6 and 11 in the first two quadrants with an O one 9 record and quadrant one. So you get two losses in quadrant two. Nothing in quadrant three, nothing in quadrant four. And the rest of the schedule, it's equal parts simple. And. Filled with opportunity. What I mean by that is on Wednesday they're at Notre-Dame. I guess nothing on the road is simple simple, particularly for this team, but you should be able to handle Notre-Dame. I mean, Mike bray had announced he's not going to be the coach anymore in the middle of the season. If you can't beat that team, you don't deserve any of the stuff you're trying to get. After that, you get Virginia at home on Saturday. According to Ken palm, be favored in that game, at least based on the numbers right now. Then it's at Florida state, foreign states terrible. So you should be able to handle that. If you're a legitimate NCA tournament team, you should be able to handle that. And then the regular season finale inside the Dean Smith center against duke. Ken pom has the tar heels favorite in each of the next four regular season games. And based on the current net numbers. And as we've illustrated, they can change and with it the circumstances change. But based on the current numbers, right now, as of this minute, if North Carolina were to go for no in these next four, which again, according to Kevin will be favored in all four, they would enter the ACC tournament 8 and 11 in the first two quadrants with two quadrant one wins. That'd be heading into the ACC tournament. So they'd be three games below 500 in the first two quadrants with no additional losses. For some context, right now, and I think Jerry's got a Jerry palm has to update his bracket, maybe Monday morning, but as of Sunday Night, the last team in Jerry's bracket is Texas a and M and they're two games above 500 in the first two quadrants, but they have two quadrant four losses, which are like not technically, but they're like double losses. If you have a quad or four laws, there's like a double walls. So North Carolina still has a chance. As bad as they've been on season and as hopeless as it must seem right now, if you're a Carolina fan, you just watch your team, squander a lead and lose to an in state rival to remain winless in quadrant one, they can still get to the NCAA tournament fairly reasonably. Do you think they'll do it? Well, do you, 'cause I think did I ask you a week ago or 9 days ago and you said Kentucky know you and CS wasn't that your verdict then? Yeah, and now I would say Kentucky, yes, obviously Kentucky's one, two nice games since then. We'll get to that. And I think I would steal ever so slightly. You just can't quit this team. I would still ever so slightly say north Carolina is going to get there. I think Kentucky, I feel better, this time last week I felt better about North Carolina than Kentucky. Now I feel better about Kentucky than North Carolina, but I still, if I had to bet, I would bet on North Carolina still getting there. Somehow, some way. UNC's last 6 games, here we go. One point loss at home to pit. 6 point loss at duke and just in an unappealing game for Carolina duke. 7 point loss that felt like more at wake completely handled Clemson

"In Austin, I think I asked you this about Alabama a and M because it's interesting. Top two in the SEC top two in the big 12 close the regular season against each other. And I think I asked you, do you think Alabama takes in final game of the regular season for those two schools will be for the SEC title? And you said no. And I agree with you. I don't think so, except oh, by the way, Texas a and M winning in Missouri and one. That's the game we a game, we both missed in the final four and one. So I agree with you. I think Alabama will have that one that League One by the time we get there. But you know, we'll see. Yeah, Alabama just put George on probation over the weekend, by the way. Peter by 49. What did I tell you after Alabama lost Tennessee? I said, Georgia will pay for this. In Georgia, Georgia pay for it. The Alabama's now got two SEC wins like by these types of margins. They beat vandy by 50,000. I think it's 57, I think, was the number which again is unbelievable. I always round up to 50,000. And then beat Georgia by 49, which of course rounds up to 50,000. Alabama just smoking people. I think they'll have the SEC locked up by the final weekend of the regular season. Same question differently. Is Kansas at Texas regular season finale going to be for the big 12 title? It is going to be for a share of the big 12 title. Here is your schedule. Kansas at TCU. We will get to TCU in just a little bit here. They need to be noted with what they did over the weekend and we will get to horned frog fans. Then Kansas is home against West Virginia, home against Texas tech at Kansas. That's two in one at absolute worst. Texas meantime. Got into a real fight in the mud with Oklahoma and one 85 83. That was in Austin. And now, Tuesday night, home against Iowa state. Obviously winnable, but Iowa state can win that game. And then it's at Baylor at TCU if Texas can go two and one in that spot. It needs to go two and one and then Kansas has to lose at least one. I think it will be a free share. So Kansas can win the stand-alone big 12 regular season title. And I think when we get to Saturday March 4th, Texas will be on its home for playing and I don't know how the tiebreaker would sort out that way because Kansas because Kansas already has a win over Texas and then they'd split. I don't have the league tiebreaker scenarios in front of me right now. So that's my prediction is they will be playing for the chance. I don't think they will have the same lead record on March 4th. I have it. I actually played it out and have it exactly like that. I think Texas, I think Kansas won't go into that game with a one game lead in the standings. And it'll be Kansas wins outright big 12 champs. Texas wins, co champs. And as it pertains, and I know you know this, but just for clarity sake for people listening, as it pertains to tiebreakers in the league, that will just be to determine who's the one seed and the two seed in the big 12 tournament. They will, no matter what the tie breaker says, if they finish with the same league record, Kansas, Texas, or anybody else, you know, there's other schools that aren't out of this yet. You know, they will officially be listed as co big 12 champions. If you finish with the best record in the league, whether you lose a tiebreaker or not, you win at least a share of that big 12 title. And big Monday on Monday night is Jeff mason. Good Kansas at TCU. I think Kansas Kim pom protects gains as like a one point favorite in that game. But I'll be interested to see what the books do with that because obviously Mike miles junior is back and he's a real difference maker for that team. We'll get the TCU later on. That's the situation in the big 12. Awesome win for Kansas. Baylor, I think I flip flopped Baylor in Texas in the top 25 and one. Put Texas ahead of Baylor, drop Baylor one. I've never going to punish a team harshly for losing it Allen fieldhouse given that that's just about the only thing you can do at Allen fieldhouse. And now the weather expect partly cloudy skies with an excellent chance of maximum refunds. Wait, that can't be right. Oh, but it is. Who are you? I'm April. And we

It means a lot, you know, at the end of the day, we want to win every game. And with big 12, it's literally like a marshmallow game every time we step on the court. Crier furnished 23 points for the bears, who overcame a ten point deficit just over a month after wasting a 17 point lead in a loss to the horned frogs. What the Republicans are doing plain and simple is helping their friends, the multi millionaires, the wealthy corporations who pay no taxes from being audited. Well, the horned frogs came in as underdogs, but they overcame Michigan and put away the wolverines. Final score 51 to 45 TCU had no problem tearing up the vaunted Michigan defense, so score one for the big 12 as Michigan threw a couple of interceptions that were returned for touchdowns, Michigan rallied and stayed in the game, but in the end TCU got out to a 14 zero lead and never really looked back. Well, that could be about to change as a growing number of employers in large cities or other places where labor is tight. Discover it's actually cheaper to hire remote workers who live in places where labor is cheaper. You know, if you're in Boston or if you're in San Francisco, if you're in New York or if you have some of these big city centers, it's actually significantly more beneficial for you to hire remotely. But it has a chief economist at labor market researcher, light cast, says sub types of companies are especially likely to take advantage of cheaper labor available in places like Iowa, Arkansas and Kansas City, Missouri. The newer companies are also the ones that are going to be embracing it more because they don't have this investment in property and so like for them. Actually, they don't have to have an office. Yeah, unfortunately, as each new booster comes out and you recommendations come out, I think some of these things get a little bit more confusing, but the bottom line is now that there is only one booster available. It came out in September. It's changed from the original formulation of the COVID shot and that it covers the omicron variants that are circulating in the community. So it is recommended to get that updated booster to be up to date and to protect folks from getting severely ill from the COVID strains that are circulating right now. One of the things that we've seen some evidence of is shortage of some medications. I mean, internationally, antibiotics as I understand it are short, we also have some flu medications that are short. And maybe even some over the counter. Correct. So we have been hearing reports of local areas that have shortages of Tamiflu, which is the antiviral medication that is used to treat influenza. However, there's not nationally a shortage. What we do recommend for physicians and practitioners is to use those antiviral medications and reserve them for individuals who are at severe at risk for severe disease from influenza. So those that have other medical conditions, lung conditions, heart conditions, we also give Tamiflu to everyone that's hospitalized with influenza as well. There has been a shortage of amoxicillin, which is a common antibiotic use, especially in the pediatric population. Again, because of the increase in respiratory viruses that we've been seeing in children and then those children being prone to getting bacterial infections

Being a pretty solid season. Katie Thomas is with the Kearney consumer institute. So while consumers are certainly feeling the impact of inflation on their wallet, where they're feeling it, it sort of where you'd expect it, which is in gas and in food groceries, going out to eat to some capacity. And when it comes to gifting and holiday seasons, they really like to still spend. But with the new year, there are questions about just what people will be spending on and how that could affect retailers. Economists Gus faches with PNC Financial Services. Generally, what we see is consumers shifting from goods because we bought a lot of goods over the past few years. Towards services. And with inflation weary shoppers holding back on spending that could damp the retail outlook in the new year. I'm Charlie palette Bloomberg radio. Bloomberg radio on demand and in your podcast feed. On the latest edition of the Bloomberg businessweek podcast, a conversation with morning consult economist Caleb Brown about the strength of the U.S. consumer headed into 2023. My big concern is that consumer budgets are just starting off 2023 in a much weaker position than they did in 2022. We've seen in our surveys that we collect from among consumers, that it's been rising all year, the share who are saying that their monthly expenses, total more than their incomes. So they've been working away at their savings debt levels have been increasing and getting more expensive with interest rates. So all of those factors, I think are making the consumer a bit weaker. What's been surprising is how resilient spending has been so far, but the question now is kind of our income is going to close the gap enough with inflation to kind of allow them to keep spending or we're seeing more price sensitivity, the holidays where big toll on many. So are they going to be able to sustain positive growth in 2023? Well, I'm curious, Kayla, when you look at the data that we've gotten so far, have any of those ratios given you concerned because when you point those out to certain people and you say, this could be bad. They say, well, you have to compare it to the financial crisis and other sort of recessionary periods that we went through. And they say, well, it's not bad when you stack it up against that. What worries me is that, you know, you think about what did consumers use to spend. They have incomes, they have savings, they have debt. And where we are now is they've worked their way through the savings through their savings to a larger degree than they did at the start of last year. Incomes are still not keeping up with prices. If that changes, that could help, but for now purchasing power is going down. And then debt levels is that final piece, which has not been a

"They got the game clinching interception, Baylor was 7 and one, they were the number 12 ranked team in the nation and it's kind of crazy for TCU because TCU just had their head coach Gary Patterson stepped down last week. He said, midseason, I'm out, I gotta step down. He walked away. And this was the first game for TC without Gary Patterson. And not only this year but in like years and years. And he really brought TC to new heights. And so for them to go through that, losing their stable, longtime head coach, and then win without him, was a big deal. It's very cool, especially beating Baylor. It's just a really cool win for them. TCU quarterback Chandler Morris and Oklahoma transfer had a big game with you for 461 yards and two touchdowns. TCU wore their gray jerseys with purple helmets and red accents. It's my favorite uniform in all of college football they're beautiful. The gray, the purple, the red. That's the kind of Jersey you make in Madden. And it looks so fantastic. I love it. I think that I think I should wear the more often, honestly, Michael, why don't you wear that almost every week? I really love that Jersey. It's really I'm not kidding. It's my favorite Jersey and all the college football. It's the TCU gray with purple helmets at red accent. Oh, dude. It's sick. And of course, they put them on they won. So wear them even more. Number 8, let's talk about the final thing for college football week ten. Fresno state quarterback, Jake hainer. Man, I was so excited to watch this guy. He played Boise state. He did not have a good game Fresno state loss to Boise state 40 to 14 J canner was 22 for 38 passing two touchdowns, three interceptions, all three interceptions were bad decisions. Sometimes I'm like, oh, an interception was tipped or it wasn't his fault because of this or that I can't do that every single one of the interceptions Jake hainer through against Boise state were bad. Bad decisions, bad throws. And this is JK or second bad game this year against Hawaii earlier this year. We had four interceptions. And right now, Jay canner has a lot of NFL potential. I really think that he's ability to throw the ball along the sidelines is fantastic. And he's made some big time throws as your back shoulder throws, throws in a tight windows. The way he beat UCLA earlier this year, what made me go? This dude looks like an NFL quarterback. So the talent is there, the ability is there. And he's been really confident Jay cann has been really aggressive. This year, I think it's part of what has taken his game to the next level..

"I don't mind following that. Oklahoma BTC 52 to 31, this is another team in the college football playoff conversation. Now, Spencer Rattler, the Oklahoma quarterback former Oklahoma starting quarterback has now officially been benched because Caleb Williams is the new quarterback starting at Oklahoma. He had 5 total touchdowns for passing one rushing. That one rushing touchdown was a 41 yard run by Caleb Williams. It was very impressive. He was 18 for 23 passing for 295 yards. And those four touchdowns passing that I did mention, Caleb Williams is I'm becoming a really big fan of the guy. I like his demeanor, his teammates seem to like him. He seems like a good leader who is just very positive and I love watching Caleb Williams play quarterback. The way he sits in the pocket is very calm and strong. It's very unique the way he like his feet are very deliberate, very slow, but not slow 'cause he's like slow, slow because they're controlled and it's just a different style, a different temple. You don't often see where he's not bouncing his feet around a lot. He's very calm, very strong, very slow. And watch the way Caleb Williams uses his lower body to generate force with a football. It's really impressive. And I gotta say Caleb Williams reminds me a lot of parts of his game that are taken from two different former Oklahoma quarterbacks. One is he runs a lot like Jalen hurts, powerful, but quick, but man, Caleb Williams can really lower the shoulder and break a tackle, which I love Kyler Murray, he never could do that. But then he throws the ball like kyla Murray's got Kyler Murray's ability to throw the ball. He runs like Jalen hurts, Caleb Williams is fantastic. I love the guy. And it's just, I can not wait to watch him continue to progress and grow. Like he's not perfect. He's a little late on a couple of throws and still figuring it out. But definitely it's undeniable in my opinion that Oklahoma is a much better team with Caleb Williams as their starting quarterback. And it makes me wonder, I look back to some of the ugly wins at Oklahoma earlier in the year with those games have been blowouts if Caleb Williams had played all year. I don't know. I think you had to let the Spencer Rattler thing play out. But certainly Caleb Williams is fantastic. Now, I still worry about Oklahoma's defense. They gave up 31 points to TCU. TCU receiver Quinton Johnson had 7 catches for, listen to this a 185 yards and three touchdowns. That's ridiculous. So in the college football playoff, can Oklahoma stop an SEC team? I doubt it. And it's certainly if they match up with Cincinnati, that's like the dream scenario. Can we get Cincinnati against Oklahoma? 'cause that's a game Cincinnati has a legitimate shot. They probably don't win, but they have a better shot of beating Oklahoma than they do of beating Alabama or Georgia. So keep your eye on that. I'm curious how things all play.

You got a master's degree in athletic can go to Springfield College in Massachusetts. And you're the mental skills coach for the Dallas Mavericks NBA 2K League team Math JiJi for I think two seasons before your current role. Yes. That's correct. I was there for the inaugural season as well as the second season of the NBA 2K League since I mentioned during that second season and I was just absolutely enamored with every anything we had to say. I was like, this is just absolutely insane that a 2K League team would just bring on a mental skills coach and you were just all for you were you didn't even blink like and I when I said isn't this crazy or like yeah, but I love it. I think it's on the internet somewhere. I pull it up somewhere but insane. Yeah, I know that was I mean a really cool opportunity for me to get to talk about what I do on a platform and I mean, of course Like who who wouldn't want to find themselves in an opportunity like this? You know, I'm always grateful that the Mavericks have been very forward-thinking DK donkey 16,000. He's been with the mass for an extremely long time. He was the first full-time mental skills coach hired in the NBA. So it only made sense that they did the same with their 2K team and I was just extremely fortunate to be part of that

Here's UK coach John Calipari and Tom Leach. Let's talk about the match up with the Missouri and start with the Tillman got 6 10 to 60. Uh, talk to us about the defensive challenge that he presents you. What they do, and They do a great job. He just flies at the rim in transition. They get it in on a Mr Make and up the floor as well as anybody will play and their first look is to him. Just throw it to him. Need the most. And what happens is he puts his body on you. And it's mud wrestling. The good news is As much as the tires you out of tires him out. Which is why he'll get in foul trouble. They played picking roll with him different ways. Sometimes they'll just believe them back. And then other times still have him show hard it that that's affecting them. But you know, you've got to go with him to now. And they are you know they're they're good. They're good at what they do. Multiple pick and rolls. Again, toe free him up. We may shoot balls, but we're doing pick and rolls so that this big help Wolf wrote anybody to try to post that ball. They do a good job of it. Threes of over the course of the whole season, and I've been a big part of their attack. It seems, but lately they've made a good number of them. Right. That's typical as we walk in the gym, you know, on the luck meter. We're not real high right now. Oh, yeah. If you watch TCU, the reason they won the game is they make three three's within the last 2.5 minutes. They were down 9 11. And they made three trees. Bang, Bang, bang and You see, you did a little bit of ours. They had to dagger shots. They say they hooked left. Like wide open jumper wide open layup, Mr Both Bang Bang! Bang down, the other end becomes a little bit of a free throw thing and all the sudden TCU loses. So, um, yeah, they they've been baking them, Um Like I said, this is this is a great challenge for us. We need to keep praying against teams that air power ranked and rain. All right, in my opinion, and this is not going to come as a surprise to most of you that listen to me. That is the dumbest woman in Washington D. C and I've worked in D. C, and that's there's a lot of dumb people there. Well, if you think the cancel culture is just in Washington, D C. You're laboring under a sad misconception. It's come right here. Two good old DFW, our very own Republican Congressman Roger Williams, 25th congressional district and by the way that thing stretcher that district stretches from I'm not mistaken Southern Tarrant County Toe Austin and he serves on the board of trustees at TCU. He was among what I consider to be the pretty brave Republican congressman. Who challenged the electoral college results. That's a process by the way. They just didn't willy nilly pull it out of the air, and that's the problem for the TCU faculty, according to the Fort Worth Star Telegram. The TCU faculty Senate was considering a resolution calling for representative Williams removal from the board. They said that his actions under now get this. Listen to this is actions undermine TC use Miss Mission toe educate individuals to think. And act as ethical leaders and responsible citizens in the global community. In other words, we disagree with you. So we gotta cancel you out with me. Republican Congressman Roger Williams Congressman, How you doing? I'm good record today. I'm doing okay. This is about the dumbest thing I've ever seen. I want your reaction to this. TCU faculty trying to Trying to consider I guess to removing you. By the way you did. This was not something you just randomly did. This is a constitutional process, Is it not? No, I mean, I've sort uphold the Constitution, and that's exactly right. And because I didn't vote for the impeachment of Donald Trump, or because I wanted to make sure the electoral and all the votes counted in Arizona in Pennsylvania Didn't agree with the faculty. As you said the liberal fact faculty we have in all our colleges, so they decided that they would recommend that I get off the board The board I've been on for 20 years. Everybody knows I'm a conservative, but because it didn't agree with what they thought was right. They want Tomo Cancel me, as you said, and do away with freedom of speech and in a great university. Please. You know this is what I hate about this. You know you're Yes. You're Republican Congressman. A lot of people respect you. That may not necessarily I agree with you politically on that's what makes a great representative in TCU, for the most part is a great school. It's just these liberals that trying to put their agenda forward. You know, toe make the statement you undermine their mission to educate individuals to think and act as ethical leaders and responsible cities. Citizens in the global community. I don't even know what that means. Other than if you don't agree with us, you gotta go. Well, that's right. It's a mouthful, but that's the problem. I mean, think about. But in all the colleges across the country, we know we've got this problem everywhere. Think about what they're teaching our kids. I mean, they're teaching them a socialistic agenda. And if you stand up for what you think might be right, Arrest the wrong question. You may not get the great you're supposed to get. And these these these professors and a lot of rich tenured and I would challenge to say, Rick, have you ever been on 10? Years of you at a guarantee for your job? I've been on commission my whole life. So we got these tenured professors. That basically don't do a lot. I'm sure getting to the universities and they and they need to be made responsible. I mean, this is not gonna go away by them going away or saying we, whatever they've got to be made responsible. We've got to be able to know that our kids are having options so they can decide what's right and wrong and not Like a liberal left wing of the person that's trying to dumb down our future of our kids. Yeah. You know my daughter, God lover. I'm very blessed. She works for the dean of graduate studies, and I won't name the university. But it's a major university. If you come into this country from another country, she's the one that goes over and sees what you have. That may transfer for credits for Ah degree, but She and I talk all the time about this. And you know if you look at this, this is a guess. The board Voting on a measure that would prohibit elected officials from serving on the board in the future. I don't understand that angle, you know you've been in Congress since want 2012. You've been on the board at TCU since 2000 to, um you know, I look at this and I say, Why didn't why wouldn't anyone object to you back then? And I think it's because people are in the left. And in my opinion, not speaking for you, but I believe the left is so emboldened by this new cancel culture. That, you know, they will. Just like Harvard. You know, they've got the an entire movement in Harvard. Anybody that worked for the Trump administration that received a degree at Harvard. They're asking those degrees be rescinded. I mean, this is the craziest Mentality I've ever seen it does Nobody understand what the first Amendment says. Well, I mean, I guess they don't want to. You know it's nice to have the old frequency there so if you make two three four radio costume and you don't hear from him You can just push the button. Go back to the old frequency and You know this happens a lot with airlines. you just call him back and say You know for center We nobody you know. Typically what i'll say home on one two three five seven okay trying other frequency so You know it. It's it's just conversational etiquette. You know if you're sitting at a dinner table with a bunch of people You're not gonna just jump in you're gonna wait till there's a lull in the conversation before you Before you start saying what you need to say and just keep in mind that The controller is probably work in many airplanes. You're not the only one out there so And he may be dealing with an emergency that you don't know about so just have patience the thing. I'll add that this one is three to five. Seconds is a great rule of thumb. If you're changing being directed to change channels etc if you're flying to a non-controlled airport where you're flying back even in this situation. I'm practising now flying back to two hooks. And i'm twenty miles away but i'm still in the practice area. There's no reason why. I don't stay on the practice area. Assuming i have radios and then start listening to hooks at twenty miles knowing that. I'm not gonna call them. Until i'm twelve the ten miles. That's probably going to be more like four minutes. That i'm listening but i can learn a lot of information i can learn will weigh their landing traffic right now. Even if i've got the weather no that information that could have changed I know how busy they are. Kind of. Get a sense of are they. Do they have six jets lined up. And i'm going to have to hold out here for a while for some reason so i like to to listen a lot longer if approaching an airport or a center of area where there's a lotta aircraft. Yeah just switching radios. I like the three to five seconds. But i would say much longer. If i'm going somewhere. That has a radio. I should be at least listening in on some of that stuff. Oh definitely and i. I talked to people. I say look We were given two years and we're giving one mouth so what's more important listening or talking. I can learn so much by listening to what the tower is given the other airplanes. If i'm going from coming back here to remain in the pattern I'm probably going to get the same thing as the other airplanes in the pattern. They four airplanes in right traffic Chances are they're not gonna give me left traffic so i'm already p- expecting right traffic now. It may change it may change and you may have to a adjust but Already i got an idea of what's going on. I mean the runway may be closed. Maybe they had a disabled airplane on their on their own way So you know. Wouldn't it be nice to know if i'm going to divert to another airport. Wouldn't it be nice to know twenty five miles out rather than eight miles out. No down. I can make my decision. I might be right. On top of another airport that i can divert to the next best practices. Know what you're going to say and A close friend of mine works at tcu said pt is not stand it stands for push to talk it does not stand for push to think and Seeing and hearing a lot of student pilots around here watching a lotta people learn.

Early signing day: Latest on the nation's top 25 college football recruits
"It's signing day part one in college football with the early signing period. now which. I'm sure coaches love because they championship games and bowl games. All that other stuff. It is obviously been a very busy time for the uc coaching staff. And a big reason why is putting together a twenty three players signing class or recruiting class. I should say for the the class of two thousand and twenty one during the early signing period we are obviously huge fans of bear journal. Dot com chad. Brendel comes on this show all the time. He'll be with us tomorrow at three forty five but because it is sunday i wanted to bring in brent young who also covers. Uc's sports and pretty heavy recruiting emphasis for bearcat journal dot com. He is on twitter at. Excuse me at be young sports and He's with us this afternoon. I appreciate the time. What should i what what stands out most about this. This particular group of players the bearcats have inked You know what really stands out to me. The most i often travel on. It's just kind of the debt that that numerous positions the the high level of talent. It might not have the the top players like you know. You have last year with with prater and jean thomas and jane thompson. The four stars really really kind of flooding the top of the list. But what was really shown and this one is just the death and the amount of talent that they're able to bring in not really clear that you would expect kind of just be headliners for each class but just the amount of players that are highly rated at each physician. You're going to have numerous players. They're going to have big impact next year special teams but more further down the line right. Give me one or two players. That if i look at this bunch and i'm trying to find a kid who's gonna make an immediate impact year one or two stands out. You don't have to go with i. Brian threats i think first off. He's one of the seven early enroll. East coming in is going to be a player out of you. Know w kaufmann there and the clubs. They're gonna come in and be a player that wants to get on the field no matter what so. You're going to see him on special teams quite a lot. You're going to see him trying really find his role on the defensive side. You know obviously defense is going to have a humorous players that are going to have to be funneled out and figured out who's going to be replacing all the seniors that are currently on the roster. So yeah i think threats comes in. He has a knack for the ball defensively. He has the ability to make big plays. You know you play offense as well as the high school level but really defensively special teams where. I'm expecting him to kind of have almost an immediate impact and then outside of that You know give me. Give me an office alive because it seems. Recently we have causes there possibly had numerous true freshman. Kind break that that that you know. Talk to on the depth chart. And i think that you look at a player like luke collins where who could step in at the tackle position is one of the better fruits that program history for the bearcats. And i think he's gonna have a chance to really kinda shy know now. Land is gonna have a chance to really shine but and then of course you look at the depth as i've constantly mentioned it's going to be hard for some of these players really crack the rotation because now you see we've been able to turn you know one as one bs and constant we have players available at each position. So really specialties. Would be the place to watch out for. Maybe i'd a toxic to watch out for who could have an impact on kickoff teams kickoff return team things of that sort. There are seven kids from the greater cincinnati area around up the kids from from From from from this class from the greater cincinnati area. yeah. I talked about Gmc defensive player of the year. It of seems like that's been that the bearcats have been able to do is bring in big time defensive players from the great cincinnati area and that first off. He has a fantastic a phenomenal nickname. And it's the godfather dante. I mean better. Carry that with him and he'd better have it all the way throughout his playing career. Whether it is in the nfl anywhere he goes. Dante corleones the godfather of course from rain high school. He's going to be a cog in the middle. You shake his hand and he just completely engulfs your hand. It makes you feel small just a bowling ball of a player. And he kinda of exact situation as i say of the death i mean. He's he's the second lowest rated player in this entire recruiting class. But you've accused. Gmc defensive player of the year. you get sacks. he's going to be a big shopper. Upfront i mean forced. You gotta mentioned the land fickle. That really great story about him is is of course he. He sat down at the dinner table with his father. And he said you know data. I think i'm gonna be a bearcat and and we've said no. I don't accept that i need a little bit more. You know force behind that. And that's you know he said okay came back days later and i'm sure he fought as much force as possible and You know land is going to be a player. That i think is surprised. Because he's got the talent that his dad has of leeward hours another great flare out of princeton. I mean you just keep on going up and down the list and then of course you know you got ice. Jarman is a good outside player. And i already talked about mouth glenn. This is just going to be another one of those. The state of cincinnati is what they call it and and keeping hometown heroes around the greater cincinnati area. They're all gonna big impact on the team. All right look. I'm not gonna ask you to be an expert on every recruiting class in the country but there are folks at twenty. Four seven are relentless. Put this class up against other competitors in the put this class up against their competitors among a group of five schools.
