"You know, I'm not mad. I'm not mad. I'm on a diet right now things are going really well my body's changing, but that being said, I am disappointed that day of reckoning WorldCom. I know we'll come. It'll come the next time. You're in here. We're going to start talking about potential band like I don't want. I don't wanna do this. But at the same time when we have a bed in place. I feel like there's got to be rules about this just forgot, you know, I wish I had a better excuse v. I appreciate it. Okay. Yeah. That's fly with us. We just woke up about a few hours ago donuts before and I will not drop the ball again. Patrick Beverley, okay. Wait on you. Okay. So let's let's dive into the bed Simmons Jared Dudley debate. Which really honestly was not much was eight Ben Simmons. I love the fact that after the game Ben Simmons said, I don't pay attention that step. Oh, he definitely. I mean, this is exactly and I was just thinking this last night. This is what happens when you poke the bear you poke Ben Simmons. He goes off thirty one points you poke Kevin Durant on Kevin Durant. You know, who I am? He goes off. You don't wanna poke the bear. You don't want to motivate teams. But when it comes to the seventy Sixers, I was very impressed by Ben Simmons because the crazy thing is if you see the narratives floating around people were saying, well, he kind of is average in the have quite he's like, no he he tends to choose to be passive not average. And my oh, my I mean, Ben Simmons Tobias Harris combined for sixty points, twenty rebounds granted Tobias had sixteen rebounds. But nevertheless, this seventy Sixers team they have proved when they are focused. Locked in committed active engaged doesn't matter who's on the court they can compete. They're usually the tougher team. I was a little disappointed Brooklyn a lot disappointed just because this was their first home game in four years and the play offs, and you'd expect there to be some kind of advantage. Especially withdrawal being out. But then Simmons is fully capable till biased has extremely capable JJ Radic found his stroke like when at least three pieces for the seventy Sixers show up. They can be a lot of teams in the overall picture of Ben Simmons, and the all star that he was a great player that he is a big guy like that handling the ball with the assists took just ninety three shots between ten and twenty four feet. He doesn't do it is this something as a basketball player when you have a weakness in your game. And this is true in anything is make your weakness Frank. I mean, would you imagine would you in his shoes be working on nothing, basically? But you're jumper in the off season to try and make that part of your repertoire, I assume you already is a lot of people think why does any shoot it needs to shoot it. Well, it takes time even myself as a player, I'm not necessarily an outside shooter. But I've been working on it for the past five six years and sometimes systems and offense is like I'm the quote, unquote, like most aggressive five player on our team we play small, so I. I know what my role is on my team. Right. It's the same thing for Ben Simmons. And I think the reason why you see in succeed yesterday is because Joel and beat is out which means he gets the play the five offense ably. He gets to be the guy that really brings everyone together in the paint. And he can determine the course of the game from transition all the way to the pay when Joel on on the floor. It's a little bit harder to manipulate where he is to be successful. But when Joel Embiid is off he can play a true five. He's a true point center because they've really used him as a screener. He turns the corner. Well, and all he thinks about his finishing the pain. He will need to develop a jump shot the same way that Williamson will need to develop a jump shot. But for now as long as Brett Brown can find ways to put him in a situation where he's not being exploited offensively. I think they'll be just fine. But yeah, I'm not gonna lie that that missing. Photo was hilarious. Please contact KENDALL. I was like yo the shade for the palm is you poke the bear you motivated him. And this is what you get. These are the consequences deadly. Jamie k- with us in studio here on the Sixers were back in the zone last night in his own. Brought to you by autozone. Getting his own autozone. And I'm sure part of Brett Brown is looking at the same guys. This is what I've been trying to tell you when you do focus in lock in. There is such a noticeable difference with that being said it was one game. I can't count on to buy Harris going six for six from three again like that. No, Tobia, slander slander here, but things tend to regress to the memes. So mean, excuse me mean I am very millennial. That's may may name. Dear God, I get so lost. And all of that. How concerned should we be going forward with this knee? And Joel Embiid extremely concerned if I'm a seventy sixer fan just because you don't want to be in a position where you're getting Blake Griffin. Right. Like, you know, your star is not healthy. And it's likely that he can't make it through a hole playoff series because the seventy Sixers have really invasions. And if you can't have him on the floor for two three games out of a series. You really hurt your chances. Because look at how the Celtics are playing look at the bucks. I know the raptors have dropped one. But they're still one of those contenders. I mean, even the Pacers. They were competitive with this. I'll take so if you're the seventy Sixers I'd be real concerned because you want him healthy. That's why you sat him out. He only played I believe eight games since all-star break trying to nurse, you know, his his health. So that he's ready for the playoffs. And it's still not working. I would be concerned the fact that they can you know, as you as you mentioned regression to the meaning. I mean, yeah, I it's probably potentially there. Because JJ Redick having a twenty-seven points shooting night twenty six point shooting night. So bias Harris. My goodness looking that good. A Ben Simmons being able to score thirty points without really scoring from the perimeter. These are all the best case scenarios. If glum beat is not out there. They need him. Because he is he's the best player on the seventy Sixers despite what Jimmy Butler. Thanks brown. Did a great job of responding from that loss because a lot of people criticizing his coaching a lot of people on this network were saying if you can't get out of the series, then you don't deserve to be the seventy Sixers head coach. Well, in fact, he showed that he's capable of coaching without Joel Embiid. But the problem is Joel Embiid. It's like something they can't control health. Right. So I don't think it should be penalized against coach today. Mckay with us here. And again before she was with us as an NBA analysts and now dominates the WNBA. She played at Stanford University. Did you guys I can't remember 'cause I remember covering you? When you were in the final four when I covered the women's basketball tournament. Did you guys ever play against North Carolina? Yes, I played against north. Carolina. My final home game to advance in the elite eight to advance to the final four. Okay. The reason I bring that up is, Sylvia. Hatch along time. Head coach at North Carolina is stepping down after North Carolina review. Rebound hatch shell made racially insensitive comments. And maybe there were also some reports that she pushed people to get back from injury faster than she needed to be, Sylvia. Hatch. Eliza woman that has a thousand winds on her resume and has a national championship. What did you make of when you heard this story? I honestly think and I lean on my experience with coach Tara VanDerveer hall of fame. Coach for one thing that co-star has done. The game has changed. It's funny. There's a difference between myself and my younger sisters were twenty one and twenty three like, we grew up without technology. You know, how that is? And they grew up with technology. The the way we treat young athletes. We sort of put them on a pedestal. They consider themselves bigger than themselves largely because of social media and the following that they get a young age. The game has changed and coaches have to adapt to that change. Right. Student athletes have to be catered to in a way that they haven't been catered to before you know, what it is like we went through it like when I was in college. We did a lot of sprinting we had to deal. There was some mental issues, you know, mental issues just trying to overcome that level of rigor because you see like Stanford like Notre Dame like Baylor. These are all steamed programs in their rigorous programs. And for a long time. We've considered our coaches to be parental type of figures in anything. They says goes even if that feels like it's pushing you beyond your boundaries, right? The game has changed. And I learned this firsthand. My coach coach Tara VanDerveer has changed her approach to recruiting to mentoring just to make sure that she is reaching the young student athletes. Right. If there's anything along the nature of racism, or you know, those type of like happening. That's a no go no matter what time you're in. But even now, I think soon athletes feel like they have the ability to call out coaches for for situations. Like this. It's it's rightfully unfair. Right. So I am I'm very sad to see her amazing career get ended, you know, so abruptly, but at the same time, I think coaches are realizing that they have to adapt to the needs of student athletes because we're not here to just be serviceable engines to your program, we are human beings as well. They're not gonna just be causing the sheet anymore. And I think what you're saying. There are two separate conversations wreck things did cross the line there with the things that were saying because we've seen that in the past remember back Markman, Gino and those teams at Kansas and all the fallout from a lot of what happened there before his ousting centered around things being said that closet cross a clear line. Like, you said that's time line is always existed. But for everything else this idea of maybe playing through or borderline injured playing through certain areas where before you, right? You just you you suck it up. And we had a voice we never felt bigger like number one student athletes. We wanted to feel like we had control of our bodies, right guys. And. Well, don't look at me. We. King. Let me tell you. Hey, reckless reckless put a fine line of of and really a lot with a head injury nowadays day to take no chances. But there's a fine line of the athlete watch to be on the on the court. Sometimes you have to be saved from themselves because you, you know, you I know for from Mike standpoint of getting on the field that Notre Dame. It's like, okay. And I actually I had that too. And then in the NFL if I didn't stay on the field. I wasn't getting back on the field..

"Hatch will enter staff that team doctor, and who is to blame most is at issue here. But we are talking about players playing through. Shoulder injuries concussions. Knee injuries stuff that got exacerbated because they were being told to play through it. And what did those players do they played through it because the power imbalance, Gino Auriemma warned us about really is. So tilted in favor of the paid manager as opposed to the unpaid labor and now they're trying to basically scare other players straight. What is no deal with this on its term? This is another part that is worth noting here. And I understand the North Carolina won a national championship. In one thousand nine hundred four understand the Sylvia. Hatch is a hall of Famer also watched enough university of North Carolina women's basketball to tell you. She's imminently replaceable like this person could get away with this. I would hope so. Quote, we need to get better as far as personnel. And there's a lot of talent out there. And a lot of guys that can help our franchise. So I'll be as active as I need to be the broad James about how this would be a critical off season for the Lakers sound like a shot at Magic Johnson to you. It sounds like a wakeup call. Or a reminder that the reason why Magic Johnson, and rob Pelinka got these jobs in the first place. It's not because they're really good at salary cap management in the CBA nuances and team construction. They're good because one guy Rupp linka was Kobe Bryant and James Harden's agent, a master of dealing with talent. And the other guy is a legendary winner who could attract stars want to play in that tradition. Their job is free agent acquisition. They have not gotten those. So LeBron seems to be saying why are you guys maybe here? Well to be fair. They did get one free agent. Pretty big deal. It's all day. Apollo say they had the job at DM loan. This is not a shot at magic. Because this is basically what I think the magic himself would say magic has been cleared that this is the year that they gotta bring some people in the thing that gets me about this though is not going to be just about you being actively recruiting LeBron. It's going to be about you, creating a situation that makes people what to play with you. And there are real questions as to whether a nother star wants to be a LeBron's orbit when everything is about LeBron if you win, and it is your fault, if you lose what can you LeBron James do to mitigate that that is your biggest role? I would think in this offseason. But we know the list we got a bunch of guys whose name start with k Kevin Durant Kawai Leonard Kemba Walker. Kyrie Irving, right. Go down the list who's gonna want to join up from that list. Maybe Kemba Walker. Right. Maybe who knows. But the thing is where the Lakers should be able to sell this. But we're not sure about that. No. We are not all right coming up next. Mike zion. Get a ten million dollar shoe deal. Like ten million dollars a year a lot of money. All right. The jets got off the classic uniform. Look, they decided to get themselves some new uniforms and. Oh, no. This is like what you have to do when you can't use the NFL logos in movies. Yes. They look like the New York. Seven forty sevens dutiful by Rawlings. Yeah..

Babo if you were Kevin Durant. Do you think he was talking about you? I wouldn't blame. Kevin Durant for thinking that Bo because the Bron James has a show called the shop. Putting Kevin Durant has the show. Call the borough groom on ESPN, plus LeBron James has a bunch of friends that he trusts heaven Durant has one rich climate who's his guy like you go down the list in terms of how they made their announcements how they carry themselves then both wanting to own teams. He's basically saying our buns have knows when you go through like somebody put this up on the internet, and it was all the different things. They'll lebron. Yes. There are direct similarities between the way the Kevin Durant. Try to handle this business in the way that LeBron James is trying to handle his business. There's no question about it. Now this was recorded a while ago as we understand it. It would I wouldn't know is. Just what was the dre of odd. Kevin Durant situation at that time because he knew what this sounded like he had somebody in mind. Yes. But Draymond green. It should be noted. If you're gonna make a defensive him just saying this innocently, he's living the words he saying he's signed with clutch. I've seen Draymond green and maverick Carter. "W women's basketball podcast around the rim. I am your host. Let's China Robinson joined by my theater, tastic and fabulous producer to Rica foster Bradsby, and we're really sorry that we did not get to visit with you last week. There was a lot of Super Bowl drama building up here in Atlanta, which made it difficult for me to get to the studio. But also, I think that. We were kind of rebelling against the whole patriots movement. Low key not you think the Rica and live here, y'all man. Somebody comes save me from new there live in Connecticut. This is still considered New England. So the amount of patriots fans that I am. So rounded by its very numbing. Oh, goodness. Well, the patient one I'm happy that we're back to women's basketball. And there was not a lot of traffic in Atlanta. I made it through the weekend with my best friend and my cousin in town. We had a very nice time. So yeah, we missed some time. "Milestone last night and c Vivian stringer. Rutgers coach gets her one thousand career win and the build up to it was great. She comes in all business, but everybody in the stands has t-shirts and handmade signs and larger than life photos of her kind of, you know, an anticipated this incredible milestone, and it was really cool to watch and to see her being mobbed by reporters. But I thought it was interesting that even when she was being asked about it leading up to her only concern was I want to get it over with. So the players are burdened with it. Yeah. It's such a coach's mentality. And it was cool. They had after the win. She's got a bunch of confetti dumped on her. And they take her over to a chair under the basket and had a bunch of video tributes from Kobe Bryant and David Stern, Billie. Jean king? Whoopi goldberg.
