"This is a good segue into our next piece of news, which is more just like trends, a hair trend that we've been seeing. So Phoebe is a redhead. And you know who else is a redhead? Freaking everyone else, literally. Kendall Jenner, I don't know if she's currently still red, but she went red recently. Sydney Sweeney, she went red. Barbie Ferreira went red before Sydney's true. Barbie, Zendaya, she has red hair going on. So we're seeing this mod apatow, so we do deutsch Dutch. Zoey Deutch all going red. It is like a very difficult color, like especially if you're not a natural redhead. Wait, did mod? Oh my did go red. Interesting. There's like whispers of red. Whisper red. Okay. I know. And then I was at an event yesterday, and there were some girls like Asian girls with red tinged brunette hair. And I was like, this is really happening. And it is something that I personally could never do because anytime my hair gets any warmth that red or orange, I like freak out. Like this is before when I used to have highlights and stuff, I would freak out. I'd be like, no, no, no, no, no. I need to go back to cool. My coloring washes me out. Everyone looks great in it. Yeah, I mean, I feel like this was a trend that I actually spoke on a OGX panel about. You did. You did. Like, in January. And I was like, I think that this is gonna be like a big thing. I mean, like, Gigi Hadid when read at one point. Sierra went right at one point. There's like different ways to do it too. You can do it like color blocking. So Bella Hadid did it where she had read in the front and then the rest of it was like brunette in the back, like those money pieces in the front. And you can also do like, people are getting crazy where they're going horizontally. So it's like a line of brunette, a line of red. There's so many different ways to play with it. Yeah. I'm into it. I like it. So Kendall Jenner's hair colorist who is the one who took her to read. She is a natural redhead, and so is Megan decker on the refinery team who wrote this story. I asked Megan, I was like, how do you feel? That everyone's trying to be red like you..

I don't know if you know what really the people want here, but go ahead. We're gonna give away a $100 gift card to paramount plus, which is your place to stream NCAA tournament games, the NFL, Champions League, the PGA Tour, and some of the best films and shows being made right now among them, mayor of Kingstown, starring Academy Award, nominee, Jeremy Renner. So just like get in the comments, shout out larnell, leaky black, dodo birds, doesn't matter to me. Leave your Twitter handle or your Instagram handle with your comment. That way if you win, we can contact you. All that's out of the way. All right, dead leg. What? A day. Some years, the madness, it doesn't arrive until Friday afternoon, maybe even Friday night. This year it has already arrived. We had two 12s. Beat 5s. We had an 11. Over a 6, three games went to overtime. One of which was improbably Kentucky, Saint Peter's, which is obviously where we'll start. For the tenth time, in the history of the NCAA tournament, a two seed lost to a 15 C final score Saint Peter's 85 Kentucky 79 in OT, a stunner in Indianapolis, dead leg on a scale of one to Sydney Sweeney. Oh, boy. How crazy is it? That John calipari's wildcats are already out of the 2022 NCAA tournament. Do you have that team in the final four? No, I had UCLA. Okay, well, that's interesting. That guy interesting could have been messier. This could have been messier here. Okay, so a couple things here. First of all, the people want you to make a peacock noise. Are you willing to do that on the podcast? I saw the hashtag Jeep, I saw the hashtag GP cock just so you know. Okay. As I, as I tweeted, I've been in studio all night. If my makeup looks great, it's because I've been in studio all night. It does. Thank you. And so I have to rush straight out of the CBS broadcast center, which is at 50 7th, but it's on 57th between tenth and 11th. They're in Manhattan. And then I got to get to 54th in Broadway. So they got a nice car waiting for me outside. I hopped in and it's, you know, 5 minute ride, not too bad, but I'm hustling, because I got to get back here to start the I on college basketball podcast. And I did start to see, 'cause I've been on TV for three straight hours. I started to see people want me to make a peacock sound. And it occurred to me on my ride back to the hotel. I don't know what sound peacocks make. Do I? I actually, I meant to look it up, but I haven't had time. Well, I don't know. You want to know how much? If you want to know how I spit my ride from the CBS broadcast center to my hotel, it was by looking on YouTube. Okay. And listening to peacocks makes sense. You want me to give it a shot? Let's hear it. Oh. Oh. Oh. Ah. Oh. Ah. Ah. Jonathan Chubb, what? Ah. Ah. Something like that. Wow. I mean, I give it to you, man. I didn't know if we were getting that, but the people demanded it. Don't ever say I don't prep for this podcast. I've got prep for this podcast. Oh, it's a leak. It's going in the drops, eventually. Okay? Going in the drops eventually. What an incredible, incredible day. Thank you to everyone that is up if you're up late on the east coast like us, well, more power to you, but particularly our West Coast mountain audience, maybe central time zone. Hello. Let me tell you, this is where you can tell. I've been in studio and you've been waiting to do this because I'm like still wired from being on TV for three straight hours and you so obviously are ready to go to sleep. Well, I just, I happen to only get, I mean, I'm up, I'm up the night before. Watching Notre-Dame and Mike bray and get it all done and then I'm trying to fall asleep and I'm geeked for the tournament and then I had to get up at I woke up at like 5 15. So I've just been averaging like four and a half hours for like 5 straight nights and it's about hitting me. I think I might be able to steal like 7 hours tonight, but I'm good to go with you buddy and this Saint Peter's win provided really an all time moment in the history of the tournament. I don't know if it's the biggest one ever, but I saw some incredible incredible stats coming out of this. One of which I think I want to highlight here shout to Tim Burke bubba Prague on Twitter who does an amazing job. Basically covering all facets of media. And he had the research. He said Kentucky's basketball budget for men is 12.5 times as much as Saint Peter's. And he said, I can almost, I'm almost certain this is the biggest upset by expenditures ratio ever without a doubt. He said for comparison, UMBC when it Virginia, Virginia was only spending 5.7 times more. This stuff actually means a ton. I tweeted earlier, Saint Peter's is the toughest job in the Mac, it doesn't pay its third assistant position, which is a borderline unheard of throughout most of division one. It is so overmatched in every single possible aspect. And yet for all the greatness of this game, this outcome, what the peacocks did, I freaking love that. I love it. I love it. You're not getting this anywhere else. You're not getting peacock noises. And I would do it, but I really don't know. I hope I'm not waking anyone else up right next door. Imagine you're in the room next to me. And at one 30 in the morning, you hear somebody making peacock noises. How outrageous? It's Saint Patrick's Day though. You get what you get. You know what, that's a great, great, great, great, great point. This is the glory of the tournament though. It absolutely is. You know, to get a school as small as Saint Peter's on the same court as Kentucky. Man, Kentucky came into this game with a 127 all time NCA tournament wins to its program. Saint Peter said zero. And now it has one. An amazing job by shaheen Holloway. Just incredible, man. Incredible, incredible stuff. It's the tenth time.

"Just full of wisdom. You know what? You know what? Every other day, the weed might have gotten to his brain, but he pulls out some really important lines. All right, euphoria where it's come back of the year award goes to Lexi. Season one Lexi wasn't that huge of a character. She was just kind of there. She was rude. Former best friend who rue ended up using for to cover up her drug usage and Lexi just wasn't a huge part of the show. She was a comforting character that you could look back on and be like, all right, well, at least there's one normal person. Sure, thank you for your world. She was like, she normalized the show. But this season she became a really important element and not even until the last half, like the last four episodes. We knew that she was creating this play. That would explain her entire life. I honestly didn't pay any attention to it. I just saw her with her little notepad and pen at Maddie's birthday party when Cass had the entire throw up scene and at school when Cassie was strutting down the halls with Nate. She had her pen in her notepad and no one knew what was going to happen and then Lexi just pulled out this incredible masterpiece of euphoria, explained and just completely. It was easily the best high school player anyway. And it was like it was anything even close to that. That would be incredible. Probably the best play that anyone has ever seen. So that's Judd Apatow's oldest daughter. Super talented. And she's been in a couple of his movies as like a little kid and then she was in a Pete Davidson movie a few years ago, but then when I saw her on this, I was like, oh, interesting. Like she has some real depth to her. Yeah, I thought the last couple episodes. It was like, wow, she's a really good actress. And she's a really good actress, and her entire situation with fez co in the way that she was able to express herself through this play as Sam Levinson did with this show. It was just some good translating lines there. And I felt like she completely played this character perfectly. Good job by her. All right, saddest moment of the season. This is a show that'll get sad from time to time. From time to time, I feel like every scene is just heart wrenching, really. There isn't one unsat scene. Well, give me the two sad. All right, the top two. Ashtray getting shot was just, we all felt it coming. I saw a few TikTok comments before the finale came out. If I actually get shot, this is all on Faye. I'm not watching the show again. If I says go dies, everyone knew it was a love ashtray at the home. He's incredible. He's the best. He's just, he loves stabbing people and killing people and playing. You know what, I think it's always shell shocking to murder a little kid on a TV show, especially in the way that they did it. The house was getting raided by an FBI and police officers and ashtrays just laying in the bathtub with an array of weapons. And shooting them at a bunch of high-tech soldier type people didn't know if that was the best move by him, but I understand why that was the decision and why Sam Levinson had to kill him off, but it's always shocking to kill little kids. Just a rough one. If you brought home a friend named ashtray, be concerned. I think that's a red flag in itself. All right, other saddest moment. Ruse little sister gia finding out that rue was using again. There was a lot of controversy because rue in her fucked up mind having this I need to manipulate everyone around me to not thinking that I'm using drugs, so I'm going to tell my little sister that I'm just smoking some weed to help with, you know, the addiction to help her not take drugs when in reality she's taking harder drugs to get her off of her case. Gia finding out that roux was actually using worse drugs than she had ever used and was about to kill herself was so intense just seeing all of the life pour out of her face and she thought that roux was finally getting better in a sense or tried to convince herself that as an older sister watching the disappointment in gia's face and understanding that her biggest role model rue was actually a terrible person, which she had always suspected, considering the life that rue's lead. But really like solidifying that in her drug usage and finding out that she was lying to everyone around her. It was just heartbreaking. It was really, really hard to watch. She had a really good sad face, too. She has a, I think she's a great actress. Character of the year. Character of the season. This one easily goes to Cassie. And tour de force. I hate her so much. I really hate her. She is the ultimate girl who I just would absolutely hate. Like never, ever want to be around. And I feel like this was expected. Season one, Sidney Sweeney has always been an incredible actress. She's showcased that through a white lotus through season one of euphoria. This was a completely different performance. I truly haven't seen anything like it. She just fully was the most horrifying and transcendent form of a teenage girl that anyone could be to the max. I would want to hook up with and every girl. And then never talk to again. She's like a one and done type of situation. She's just the most terrifying character I have ever watched. She she's like someone else. Yeah. Times 10,000. She has no fear. She's insane. She makes some of the craziest faces I've ever seen in my life. The best faces. Really some of the best. And she is such a beautiful young woman's Sydney Sweeney. She looks just absolutely horrific. And so many scenes in this TV show. Yeah, she can go from pretty to completely psychotically. Like, you would never, ever want to be around forever. And just like the shift between the types of characters that she can be, she has so much variety. I don't know. Really a great. It was so she kept the show going. I'm with you. You thought the best episode was episode 7, which was part one. Of lex's play. I think I agree. I thought, especially the ending with Cassie staring through the window. And just the steam. Oh yeah. And you know what? I talked to a few friends.

"Even when you're not looking at these things, somebody for whatever reason is anxious to tell you that they exist. They're sometimes somebody send me something and they'll be like, hey, I heard about this. Man really, and I'm like, I don't even know what you're talking about. And they're like, well, I saw on Facebook that I didn't see it. I didn't know that. First off, it's not true. And secondly, I didn't even know it was there. Then it's like, people will tell you. Oh man, so you're getting pummeled on Twitter. Even if you're a coach trying to stay away from it. You know, I saw you. I saw what people were saying on Twitter while I didn't. But thanks for bringing it up. And then maybe you go look at it. Now, I do think social like I saw a thing the other day. Sydney Sweeney. You know, Sydney Sweeney? I do not. She's my favorite actress now. All right. She's in your fora. Okay. And so never seen it. Euphoria is wonderful. Okay. And Sydney Sweeney is a great actress. And so I was, I don't know. She was on James Corden the other night. I was like, I'd like to see Sydney Sweeney's appearance on James Corden. And I'm not doing anything else on this plane. So I'll go find Sydney. I'll watch that. And then, of course, that leads you to other Sydney Sweeney YouTube videos. So now my entire YouTube is like I on college basketball and Sydney swinging. And there's a video and it says Sydney Sweeney is crying on Instagram Live. And I'm like, well, no. What happened? And it turns out she was trending one night for being ugly. Cities sweaty is ugly, was trending on Twitter. And by the way, she's not ugly. But she was jumped on Instagram Live and was like, I just, I don't know why people are being so mean. This is so hurtful. She's crying..

"And so they, instead of Maddie having a lot of rhinestones and glitter and neons and things like that, it's more monochrome, but it's still big. So they made this they took a sheet of paper with her face on it like a face map. And they created like four different styles of winged liner, and every day when she would go in, she would just point to which one she wanted for her look. And they said, she took the longest and the makeup chair. I asked about Zendaya, obvi. And I was like, what is Zendaya doing? And they're like, for this season, she's not doing much makeup. Yeah. But they said that call back to Mac is Zendaya suggested Mac face and body for her. So if you're wondering like that really natural skin look, that's what Zendaya is wearing. They also use shante future skin and face atelier to get this no makeup makeup look. And it really is it really had to be no makeup makeup because Sam Levinson, the director inside the trailer, he had printed out these signs that said, no foundation, your skin will look great. Trust me, Sam. Yeah. Like he was adamant that he didn't want people to look like they were made up, especially since they were being captured on film. And that also influenced Donnie told us on the podcast that they do not use powder and that's still true. No powder whatsoever, still using nano blur from indeed labs to kind of like take away shine. But really I think the most intricate and interesting beauty looks, maybe the nails, they had a bunch of press on nails, and did you watch the first episode yet? Not yet. Remember, I'd like to take a second to oh yeah, yeah. Just kidding. Okay. No, no, I'm so excited. I'm like, and I want to watch it just because of obviously Donny and the makeup looks. But yes, tell me more about the nails. Well, the nails there is a very specific scene with Sydney Sweeney. Where you will see those press on nails and they are there's rhinestones on the nails. There's some like 70s designs that she created. She was on set like doing last looks putting nails on the cast. So I think the nails will be really big feature this season and also a lot of lower lash looks. Johnny said, there's a lot of twiggy inspiration, so you'll see that either through like designs or through like shimmer hunter who plays Jules has her inner corner wing instead of outer corner wing. And then cat will have more, I think of the visually bold looks like the first episode is set on New Year's Eve. And she has like a color blocked eye of yellow and green. So there's just so much. There's so much and there's actually we're doing multiple stories for allure..

"News what's wrong with. I've got something on. Dr michael harris this again. If i told you before to leave it alone the civil come around it serious time. We called our best friend told her haraz and really is like who talks like that. Come out they said that multiple times in this movie too. I actually wrote that down. He's the professor said it multiple times. Come out with it you like that. Be on like a top ten list. Of how i tell people to get to the point. Also tiffany was like. I've got something. Dr michael harris. Okay veronica mars. I think we need to call up our best friend and let her know her husband released. It's kind of like really even for our little saw like when she said that it's like who talks are like i would say that like in a see that's the reason why was fascinated. How she by how she played that scene and how. Why is honesty fascinated by how this scene was played. Because she's like. I'm going to deliver these lines in a way that makes sense if you're watching this in another language. You're gonna know exactly what i'm saying. Neo these lines. Don't make sense. But i'm gonna give you. I fucking stan. This actress okay. Let me look her up. I actually am now convinced. My new favorite address. What's her turning. I always get one a movie. Tiffany sammy barbara. Okay let's see what she's up to sammy barber. Can we get you working all the time babe okay. So she is a producer she She was associate producer on show called american beauty star but she's also on handsome devils Deadly lessons was one of her first movies and she'd web of lies perfect obsession. She played molly. I think that movie Groupies working moms american gods. I mean we gotta get her even more out here. She has a couple completed. But we gotta get our queen and production and i love working mom so anyone who's been on that show. I automatically like yeah. I mean this. This girl's great. I'm absolutely going to follow this up with a a follow on twitter but not completed. I'm just gonna follow her. Yeah she's going to be booked and busy though we're gonna we're gonna prayer. I loved to get in early on these girls. I feel like i got in early. On sydney sweeney on here really. I feel like she did a lifetime. Movie and i was like. Who's this girl. She's gonna be famous. And then i look loaded. Imdb and she could just recently become famous. This is where you get you get some good you get some some of the good girls and boys coming out of here that like gone to great things. I'm very happy for everyone. especially you. Barber tiffany fucking killing it. So we cut back to lisa in michael's new house and the neighbor sees a girl. Beverly sees lisa and she makes her way across the lawn. She's wearing this cobalt blue sweater. It's like tank top but it feels like a sweater because it has he's tassels on it and it's a very aggressive shirt but she's coming at you and it just feels like that's like I don't know the texture was working for me in this movie. Normally i would hate on some sort of task shirt. But beverly sold me. So she's like. Hey listen this fella you're trash can this morning. It's a bottle nosy. But it's like michael's medication. He left in the middle of the road. She's like how are you doing this morning after your argument yesterday. At least it's like. I'm fine just was like a fight. We haven't been married for very long. Still finding out new things about him and blend is like all men have secrets. Okay i could tell you. A few stories michael's older than you. He's bound to have more history. And if you love each other you can get through anything speaking from experience. So at this point i started to wonder there was a few points. I felt like beverly was a red herring absolutely. I'm with you. The line about all men have history type of thing. She was just kind of being such an apologist for them. That was confusing especially because of her behavior barbecue where she didn't like that. He was acting weird toward her and that he wasn't even there in the beginning it was the scene was particularly confusing while truthfully like where it really like. Added up for me as like okay. This is sort of like culminating right At the very end when the door was open. Alice yes i was like two. She doing this on purpose. Like she's taking a little to launch call. The police come on girls. speed it up so we. This was the perspective lisa felt. She needed she just needed to be gas. Let into not telling her gut instinct and they hug and she's like my door's always open. Okay so once she's alone her cell rings and she takes a deep breath before answering it. Forty three forty eight to forty four forty six. Hello he left so suddenly. I wanted to let you know. I'm sorry really really sorry. You're sorry. Tiffany michael losses job. We we had to leave because of you. I know you lied to me too. Okay whatever are you serious right now lease the. There's some things have michael that you don't know that you really need to know. Oh god have you not done enough as your best friend. I need to warn you been married before. Yeah i know. I know about wendy. I guess we talk okay. You know i have to go straight. I gotta ask you about this. 'cause like it's it just haunts me in these lifetime movies and i'm always looking for a fresh take on me. I feel like sometimes in. This happens a lot in lifetime movies. It's like there is a such a lack of development that characters interest in one. Another can only be seen sexually driven unless the person as you know to me like. I thought patrick was neutered to me as far as any sort of lake. I'm thinking he's a romantic interest for lisa. But okay like what this character is doing is like. This is absolutely not like one of those. Were really like intense female friendships. Where tiffany's probably secretly in love with lisa. I don't think this is like that. But it's like there's not enough context given where the only thing you can kind of assume as like as an adult anyway as like. She is romantically interested in her with her. I hear what you're saying for me. Though when i was watching this i saw how passionately tiffany reacted to the whole situation. I thought she was just fully grossed out by the male authority taking advantage of his subordinate. I agree the number one thing they did for that was when she said like.

"About like privilege in her parents and how they don't get it and how they're blinkered the way the world works and all this stuff at the same time as she deeply enjoys the fruits of their money and their power and their ability to take such a vacation. And so there's this kind of idea of like the sort of pompous. You know spoiled little rich girl situation about her. But i also think like you said. There's some kind of wound at the center of her. That we're not really sure what it is. Whether like you said is the suppression of queer desire towards her friend. Or if it's this idea that she knows that her parents are kind of bullshit but she can't figure out how to express that are how to get away because she's also tied into it and has benefited from it so severely so you know. I think there's this idea with paula. Later you know policies. You're just using me for credit and i think it really wounds libya to her core because i think she has this idea deep down that she's a fraud that she belongs with her in this sort of girl boss world that she constantly is calling out rather than being kind of aberation from it. So that's going on with her. And pala and i think they're tension is really really interesting and i think a libya herself is great and sydney sweeney as an actor. I think is really so remarkable. I mean she's in everything. Now she's scraping you for. Es she's great in this. I think she's really really good at playing like Girl who had ruined your entire life energy like it's just like there's something so sinister just in her little pout and her sort of resting face i mean she has like resting evil face to me in a way that is really like i think just these to her talent. That's not. What probably looks like that. In this for sure i said challenging part because unlike most of the white tourist characters on the show she doesn't have a spiritual quest. She's on right. I mean she. Like i say is an under minor that seems to be her primary goal and then the last we see of her she has been completely folded into her parents world with after the bracelets and with that whole interaction with the hotel she becomes completely an ally of her parents and and knits herself. Back into that. I think one of the best lines and the whole show or the best exchanges and to to go back to that scene. Isaac was saying between the two of them. That's like a beautiful scene. Study is when you know policy saying to her that you know you think you're so different from your parents. But that's your tribe. That's who you are and sydney sweeney's character says like you don't realize like in this burglary. Something bad could have happened. Speaking referring to her parents could have been injured in this thing and policy says something bad did happen which referring to what happened to chi in the fallout there in and it's this idea that olivia really doesn't see outside of her own unit like her vision is just not beyond her own family but she thinks it is and that's kind of the tragedy of her character that she comes in so hot with all these ideas.

"All right. Isaac i have some lightning round questions for you. One of them is that you know. Okay sorry go go go on earlier mentioned that the sydney sweeney character olivia right. The daughter of the privileged mossbacher was i. Forget the exact word you use. But sociopathic gleam malevolent or something like that seven sociopathic one or the other. Yeah yeah and so talk a little bit more about her. Because we've talked about paula. We've talked about quinn. But we haven't talked about her and she is a mysterious figure. I mean her main motivation that we see is essentially to ruin everyone else's vacation especially her mother's and her brothers right. I mean she seems to be someone who is so stupid and resentment that her her primary goal is to make other people unhappy yet. I do think there's ways in which she's the most mysterious character on the show. There's a couple moments where it seems like part of what's going on with her is inability to admit queer desire to herself. There's a particularly when she sees rachel in a bikini for the first time and also her obsession with her friend paula. Paul is kind of diagnosis of her. There's a really great fight. The two of them have in towards the end of the show that she and her best friend. Paula have that. I feel like just a great scene study acting scene. But paul is diagnosis. Is that essentially. She is is breaking away from the family and treating them so horribly and in a way to kind of try to be. Paul is twinned to try to kind of become her. Which of course she cannot do for many reasons including the paula is not white and is not rich and she can't actually. Olivia can actually stop being who she is and as soon as it becomes convenient for her to do so. Olivia will just snap back to being the good daughter of these people and sure enough. That actually happens later in the episode. And so there's a mercurial aspect to that character. We're not totally sure where she stands but for for much of the show. Yeah as you said dana. It does seem like she's solely exists to save the most perturbing thing possible to whoever she's talking to knew. She keeps diagnosing her younger brother with various issues. She's constantly were meant to think making up ailments for paula. So that so as to make the mothers vacation were she's saying horrible things to the mother about her money even though it's their money pays for vacation. She's sort of this figure of pure spite but where they go with it towards the end goes into some some pretty interesting directions. I think am i read on her is that she's supposed to stand in. I think in certain ways for kids in college these days like i have a certain kids. These days has a little bit of. It's the one part of the show. Where i'm a little bit like this feels like it was written by an older person about younger people that maybe you know about kids these days on the internet like what's what's up with gen z. A little bit that although it is a little bit more complex and better written i think in certain ways than a lot of attempts to capture that kind of character. But i think you know what is very so funny as visual joke to me is all of the books that might quite has them reading throughout the series. I mean paula. And olivia constantly reading like de colonialist theory and like france finan and freud and all of these books that you would read as like a college freshman that blow your damn mind about the way the world works and then you feel inclined to like lecture. Every single person at dinner. And olivia is a big lecturer. I mean they're family dinners..

"Yeah that's crazy like the third person that said that no but honestly like i was upset i thought just the characters were so incredibly perfectly written the one criticism my head is i thought the most two dimensional character was belinda. Who is the manager. I thought that her dial. I just wasn't impressed with her dialogue and i wonder whether it has to do with the fact that mike white is a white guy. And he's i guess bisexual. I believe and so to me like he his sort of like sassy gay thing was speaking through the to jen's ears sydney sweeney and her friend. And that's why they're dialogue was so funny and sassy and queen. Obviously there's like the gay manager of the hotel than the jennifer coolidge very campy and like over the top and i just thought like he missed the mark on belinda. I wonder if it's just because it was like his conception of what a black woman working at this resort would think and talk like and i just found it a little. I thought the writing was so good. In general i wanted more from that character. That might be true. I'm not like i personally just was watching it to enjoy this show on have not picked it apart in the same way that everybody else is doing online. India however i do her character was just kinda like in contrast to everyone else like the consummate professional area. That's one way to look at it. But i just felt like all the white characters were so fully formed. And so three dimensional. And i way like got his athlete now who trends. We're friends gino cured his kp. You told me yeah. He is On my god his putney for that this like the sweetest no that it wasn't his but it was frat guys but knee. Oh no the frat guy. I think not body shame but honestly could've used a double like found it flat and not appealing. I'm sorry everything. That is unrealistic. I think if the show did anything right it was depicting a white man's us in a half true. I saw a lot of myself in jennifer coolidge character and in i was actually upset about the writer. Character which writer character the fiance alessandra dario or whatever. Her name is they. They ended up together in the end. No that's what casey thought to know. They just ended up hugging and being like it didn't work out but they like yes. They did not end up together. She did not end up with him. But anyway i here's what i thought. I just thought that it was. I don't know like it's very rare that there's a show that makes me think and makes me like have debates with friends and i thought that it was really smart. I read a little bit of the mike white. Who is the creator of the show of the profile in the new yorker about mike and it was talking about basically. He was the creator of the show enlightened which was a very short lived but critically acclaimed show on. Hbo that they cancelled. He felt very like screwed over by. Hbo and then during quarantine hbo called him and he thinks it just because he's a really fast writer and they're like we really need content and so he had a house in maui for while he came up with this idea they actually shot in the four seasons because it was still at that point closed dudakovic.

"Have you noticed that we no longer make weird problematic cartoons here at disney anymore. Would that start. And it's like well because there's a black lady here kenza green was heading it up and can you please that. I'm not sitting in a meeting being. That's where my whole entire thing is because there's a power dynamic and that's why going back to earlier. I was so shutdown when this aggression was happening because there was a power dynamic and got threatened of like. This doesn't this project might not happen of like because i'm not bowing down to this situation of you know so i can't wait for that day and to your point. That's where the unions appoint. Recently i think the head of hbo. I don't know if it's still a black woman or the person who's a green lighting helping green greenlight projects a black woman berry high up. Because i said to my friend who. She's running the show actually called black and i was saying it was like man. There's somebody like everytime there's always like black folks on. Hbo just because there's a black woman projects over the exactly like that's why you end up with hbo. Max having a show about street wear. That's not lake. That's not so inside baseball that you're like oh shit they going to steal everything out of the show but like a very specific to street wear or you get things like a black lady scott show or you get. Things like watchmen have black people in it. You know or craft country even just something as simple as like four you for your or even the fact that the characters are fairly repugnant on white load as they to a point that you're not like oh how glamorous you're like or like gossip girl like we said having somebody black people saying oh this is okay how men and at the bottom of the ninth and then you drop the white lotus. We've gotta go to our next to the next aright. Well we'll put a tv continuing. It's better this way so people can catch up and watch your spoil anything quite yet. I have to watch it right. I i i know of it because we had sydney sweeney as our cover star in august for the who what wear magazine and i truly knew nothing about her and it was like oh your delight and then after she left i google and i was like she. She's an euphoria. she's on this show that everybody loves him like she's turning this to a movie a tv show with all the earning it. Yeah oh last thing. I just wanted to mention where do you fall on this latest. Mandela effect was sindbad. Ever in a movie called should they. He was not a movie called suzanne but he did a movie about genie's and then shack did a movie about genie's called kazan called kazam. I don't understand i. I'm having a stroke every time one of these mandela effects comes. I know i think confusing black peop- black they are to just talk tall bald black men. They're like i've seen this four. Oh and there's really making up to the point where like sindbad's parents are not parents but kids like no. That wasn't my dad leaves about a. He doesn't need this. I just let him do his thing. You know doug he was on. He was not exactly responsible. Either he had about twenty five of these things. And then you of course Welcome to the program for the first time. Ever our boy chris chris castellani. Hey you got Baseball guy who is covering detroit year for the week Great story of you're working at a gas station right press stumbled upon you grind for. I've been making videos for awhile on nine. Just been doing it. My parents basement for like five years right. And they'd they'd grown like a solid following people in detroit and then spencer returnable for no hitter. And i guess. I told this publicly yet but for people willing to listen but i had another job lined up and the concerts sports media and it was monday night and i told my dad and my sign contracts sentiment non compete six months so and my dad was like it tomorrow. Signed turnbull throws no hitter. Video blows up. I wake up the next morning and dave's in my dna and it was seven thirty shift at the gas station. So i'm like and think about dave. He doesn't have the puck and blue. Check mark on this. Hack like trolling whatever. So i get there. And i'm like yeah. Don't cover michigan for thank you deport. And he got a call. I talked about on the run down a little bit a couple days ago. Like i get a call from massachusetts area code and some woman was buying her coffee and cigarettes right in front of me and i just said to my boss. I gotta take this. Go out. And i was on the phone like pacing back and forth and a speedway parking lot is people were like. It's up. chris. And i mean none of these people have any idea of my life is changing right. Row time yeah. And so. I walked back in two speedway my boss like. Are you all right man. I'm like yeah. I'm pretty good. And this is the part this part. I haven't told the even my parents about because i was talking texan back forth with them and they go okay. Whatever you don't tell anybody that barstools offering right now way to the contractor sign and i shit you not. This is like something out of a movie. The next guy walks into speedway's wearing saturdays for the boys. And i'm like hey guess what guess he's it wasn't a regular either so he's like are you kidding me. Here's my name. And then he message me like a day later. I thought you were joking. It all happened so fast as i could live two thousand. I probably won't have a crazy or twenty four hours man. Thank you appreciate it. You're still that's how it was when i hired and that's how it is when you get hired like that. He just sort of see something that he likes goes after. He'll just call you be like what what what what do you want to do. But it's also like you know that's the way to do it. It sucks when people are like you know. How do i get a job here. And it's like. I can't really tell you it's okay first thing. Get a job at a place. A gas station behind quirky story. Move security while you're doing. I mean the common theme usually is you have. You're doing some shit on your own for fun. It's like the two major ways like you have your own blog your own video series or you look like video game character. That's just ask what it's like you know you can't like fabricate the that setting and their circumstances and it's like just gotta happen but usually the common theme is that you were doing it on your own for fun for your own purposes own money for your own drive and dave like 'cause you can tell that you're videos were different than someone trying to get a job. You're trying to you know those. You end up being an intern to intern of an intern. You'd be your your boss. Millions of people being like. How did you do it. Like where do i fly really plied and just kind of get found out there or you can email people at more. Tell your story but that is always going to pale. In comparison to you know a true real genuine video sees right and then it just it never turns out. It's never like dave co five gets in contact with you and you happen to work for bleacher report. And you're already doing this and you're like oh it's like i work in a gas station. I were weird quirky thing. I'm surprised you didn't pull off your fucking name tag out. You see they were they. Were good to me. Has been my previous job. I i gave him two weeks and i work two weeks the way to do it. So welcome aboard all detroit lords. Baseball is just in general Where do we begin. A lot of shit was happening right before we were on camera and i was like. Let's talk and save and save and save everyone talking about the way lotus. Do we want to talk. Yeah so we were watching sweetie specifically the new. Show the white house on hbo. Which is very bizarre. I call it a dark comedy. It's like technically it's a murder mystery and we're like who who's going to end up being this dead body and who did it but it's also just funny along the way and sydney sweeney in sweeney is just like the hottest chick in the world right. Now i would say it's like and they armas Recall current you love kournikova per year. That's khomeini paved by you. That's she's that's plenty. Know you wanna know or these your tussles city news the fact that sweeney and alexander dario on the same show is like the original super teams together upon and wait. What you mean. it's torch. Yeah well a friend of might be that chick soon. Or maybe she's next glenn he'll be early to an actress or she just she's just. She's youtube national donald fans. It does matter when if you're like a celebrity true nonsense actress if you're a singer you know Sydney sweeney trenches like founder for the first time and and she is definitely like what yeah people can talk about the white load. It's a little bit and i. I watched three episodes last night. Four out of the drop every sunday is that right and i just like the. Hbo nine o'clock on show right. I didn't realize that they had my deserves to be to honest. I'm i'm i'm going to see it through. Because what else are we gonna do. But i'm like this shows kind of it makes me laugh as weird at times but on what what's been confused on what it is and what the show is but i also don't care like you very dark comedy if you walk into a hotel and you follow the lives of everyone and that's right. It would be like this. that's right. Ariza's is a scene in the latest episode. I don't think it's too much so i wouldn't give it out. Give out any names. There's they seen someone opens the door and there's a dude on his knees eating another dudes okay. Well like for tv for hbo. No hbo's niamh but but even for like premium shit dude just like one of the scenes on. That's a lot in the first episode. Just steve's zones ball that was looking at bowl goes he goes are they. Do they look bigger in connie britton his wife and she goes. I haven't seen him in a while. It's good it's a really good season gets emasculated the whole time but zinni sweeney is one of the new evicts glenn. He was almost horrified. That trend never heard of her. It leads.

"Where all of these people start out. Maybe a little bit more idealistic. The most which being the sydney sweeney character and then kind of decay over time until they wind up being jennifer coolidge and crying on a boat. And you know. I think that he's just. that's what. I was most impressed by as far as like. I'm still kind of caught up on like the jake. Lacy characters sort of like torpedoing his own honeymoon because he's obsessed with the quality of the room. He guy is something the high not in myself. Let's just say. I think that the reason the other reason why i'm kind of equivocating and just kind of pausing to see how the show works out is that i think it's too soon to tell a lot of things and i think that what mike wait is incredibly good at and i mean this genuinely think. Most people are not good at this most writers and also whether they're good at it or not i don't think there is interested in it. Which is he's just sort of laser focused on reviewing selfish. Everyone always is ultimately is not necessarily in a judgmental way. That that's what the human animal does you know the idea of human humans as animals. I mean it's in the episode. When steve zahn keeps talking about how babboons behave in the wild or whatever every character here knows better on some level but torpedoes themselves because of self interest self regard old behavior model behavior etc etc. That is well observed and i think sadly accurate Both in my own experience of life and just art that comes close to it or is interested in reflecting that. What i'm curious about going forward is is there anything past that. The show has no obligation to say that there is but i'm realizing that in my own experience with things i guess i kind of do want. This isn't exactly a fairy tale ending. But i'm interested in the dramatic storytelling. I see to be shown something that i don't always see. Which is the potential chance of redemption or change. But what if there's find out if this is purgatory and the perfect rejoinder because this is the non genre version of i mean i'm basically saying can this be superhero story where a ordinary person can transform by the end and this isn't mayor twenty to bring it up but that was kind of the leap mear attempt to take in the end of that. I found very moving. And i didn't have time for people being like. That's not realistic. Well yeah it's a television. Show you the mike white project is as elevated. You know in in a bunch of ways. I think it's it's sometimes. It's cartoony in the humor cringe. E or broader bright and. That's great because it's a tv show. He's a creative person. But i do think i'm curious to see where he goes with all these characters who have been circling the same drains. They brought with them when they got on that. But yeah i mean everybody thinks gonna leave themselves behind when they go on vacation but they just take the amplified version of themselves there. That's a good point. Let's we can wrap up there. We will be back on thursday. Discussing a number of things will also have a special guest on thursday. Andy chris. I'm in wailing country right now. So i may just behave like tracks for the next couple of days and see how it gets me in long island. You might might go over great. I feel like judging by some of the people. "I think just post scarlet and so it's like phoenix is heartbroken. I really liked it. Because i actually. It's a completely extended music video. It's really neat. Because it matches to me this kind of idea of you know how you can have themed album. So the album will kind of tell a story throughout the entire all the songs and i feel like that's very popular with i e mo punk music and like it doesn't i don't really think the music themselves like tells the story but because of the way they did the music video like this and i think machine gun kelly have weird like cut between him and then the plot it's very reminiscent of like early two thousands pop punk music videos. Because i feel like if you look a lot of blink one eighty to one. It'll be like them playing. And you know like. I was thinking of simple plan with the. Yes exactly simple. The oh my god amazing. This that energy or like good charlotte. This idea where they're kind of in the theme but they're kind of out of it as well they're kind of a narrator and so it's in and out in and out yeah. I was quite amused with it. My best friend was here last week. And she watch it with us and she had bailey. Didn't seems amused. I was like. I haven't i like this. I i did machine gun kelly. It was forty five minutes. Have gotten to look at him. All like really attractive rowdy boy. I wanted him ready. Boys kinsey also was illuminating. The concept of girls getting fridge in in case you guys haven't heard of this concept. It apparently came about in the green lantern rate is when the other green lanterns hong xia and concepts that a woman love interest or figure is killed off at the beginning of a story movie comic and then her death is used as character development for the male and the complete plot propulsion. Like it's the reason why they kind of go on their figurative choir hero's quest yes so this. This was very guilty of this they fridge. Sydney sweeney's character so fucking fast. She didn't even know what hit her. She had freezer burge. She was manic pixie. Dream girl that they're like we gotta get more than one trope in only forty five minutes. "Reese Witherspoon movie with I. Love this movie at that movie came to mind really what nailed it home was the scene where. The sister puts the the used tampons. In her mailbox and she comes out in the music's like. Whatever it's like this upbeat like you know a song and and like she's GonNa go out and face her sister and she throws him on the ground. I don't know something about that moment seemed very. Election and then also the way that she turns things to who to her vantage by getting rid of her current music teacher so that she can get the. Teacher that she wants. The way she plays that in this this weird. I, she just manipulates the situation, right it just felt very a lot like election interesting. I would've never never thought about. By the way that Song I ended up she zan I, liked it and added it to. Twenty Twenty playlists. Was that song. What is it called I I have here. It's Gazelle twin unflushed. Yeah. Gazelle twin. Yeah. They played a lot of that throughout and I really really liked There were a couple of things I did like about the movie one is the music in the way the music was were worked from that because I think there are a number of tracks from them that they they use and then. Also the classical music that was used really thought the music was done. Well, I also thought the cinematography was great. I thought there who were still style to the movie at time it was absolutely yeah. Yeah. No good good performances at good cinematography for sure and some interesting music choices. I'd say it's a mixed bag overall but like there's definitely some cool stuff going on with the music. And Yeah. I mean, really the story stories my main thing. So, election really interesting puzzle there. So my next my next piece is actually the black codes daughter. Is Twenty, fifteen film is. Just watched for the time recently and you know the whole private school setting. You know in that case, it's a boarding school here it's a music academy and also just the kind of the tone where there's not a lot of like actual like horror horror happening it's more creepy nece and Claustrophobia and like people being alone and like and like creeped. Out and and just the kind of general feeling being in that kind of a setting and being stuck in unsure of what's going to happen it kind of felt to me like it could be a pretty good companion piece there. No. Yeah. No. That is a good Yes. psychological horror is what I would say yes, it's it's definitely you know. Gets in the in the head, which is that not an eight to four film I think it is it is. So that's one of the things that they're really really good at doing i. think that's what the the witch of does as well is just really really getting under your skin and in your head and this one That's what it's going for. I don't know if it fully succeeds but yeah, the definitely. That is. Where this? Is is trying deadly and No that's a great when they didn't come to mind but that is great piece. Awesome say. I always say long the same lines though is a actually neon demon. The on Demon and neon demon that one of the things that made me think about it is that the on demons in the world of. Models and modeling, and it's almost like it's a version of Black Swan or this movie. It's almost like you know this is the music like swans dance and the on demand is modeling Rhonda and lots of. You know psychological horror lots of things implied in also you know is this really happening? Is this in the head that sort of thing I loved neon demand I actually have not really it since the first time I've seen it it's when I definitely need to revisit 'cause I loved that movie the look of it the feeling of it just can't recommend that when enough. But this was definitely one that I felt like I was a lesser. Version of that film. Yeah I mean we were just talking about the cinematography a few minutes ago and definitely like whenever whenever things start to get like. In this movie I mean I. It's got some really cool visuals and stuff which I you know I can absolutely see those being compared there, and then of course, just the you know another another particular arts world that the person is going nuts with. Bruno. So yeah, absolutely. That works. Also just as a quick aside before my next piece but the main star, this Sydney Sweeney does a great job she. She actually reminded me a lot of plaza. Anyway. She kinda got that kind of. I don't know she just kind of seems. Done with everything around her like you know she's kind of river it. You know over everybody and everything. Just, a little bit of that kind of yeah. I get what you're saying, and also at the same time maybe first impression is sweet but there's this darkness underneath shore. Yeah Yeah Absolutely So I, I only have one more piece. My my last piece is not a movie. But it is. It's kind of like they're the urban legend or whatever of Robert, Johnson selling soul of the devil you know. To become a great belief. And that, of course, there's many versions of that story over the years even in other songs and other musicians, musicians but you know I just figure that version is kind of like the classic and you know that this girl is kind of depending on what is real within the world of the movie and we're not a hundred percent sure on what's happening but what seems to be happening though is that she is you know. Rather than working necessarily for it, she's kind of taking the shortcut to become better than her sister and to become the best piano player and taking the shortcut by this demonic piece of music in this demonic notebook and so Yeah I think it's absolutely kind of stems from that same a folk tale and that is a great pc because I was trying to think of a movie specifically that dealt with that 'cause. I know. There's been lots of different ones I was thinking of the movie at which I I couldn't remember it very well I didn't bring it up but I believe it's called crossroads with a Ralph Macho. And then I was thinking isn't there something with the like the nation's de movie other think I was thinking of that that that's more of the devil went down to Georgia version. Of that of battling the devil but yeah. It's within.
