"Tastee freeze in orange on Chapman Avenue always spent a lot of time they're way too much time playing Pacman and battle zone battles, and Neil wrote in and said You have it backwards. Gallagher was the sequel to Coleccion, both inspired by space invaders. That's right. I didn't know that I thought Galaxy in came second that it was Rip off, but Galaxy in was the original. Gallagher was one of sort of the offshoots of it a better version of that same style of, uh, that same style of Program. Same style of game. I guess it was. We are in the middle of swamp Watch talking about what's going on in Washington, D C etcetera places like that one of the polls that came out was that 50 Sorry 49% of Americans see the United States. Safer from terrorism now than it was before the terrorist attacks of September 11th pretty amazing, considering we're 20 years later and of all of the safety things that we've been trying to do to keep ourselves safe that only less than half See that we are safer than we were. Mark Remillard is joining us live, but we're still waiting for Mark. Got it? Um, 64% a decade ago, said we were safer than before the September 11th attacks. We were talking earlier about. The I mean, now that we are close, we're approaching within days of the 20th anniversary of September 11th those those shows that are going to be on and how difficult they can be to watch and bringing back the issue of Whether or not we are safer or feel safer than we did. In the immediate days after September. 11th Mark is joining us live now. Mark Remillard from ABC News covering us covering the story for us and for ABC Mark this poll 49%. Uh, it's surprising to me, I would have assumed that the number would have been higher. Yeah, I think I think most people would expect after 20 years after two wars, trillions of dollars spent a fundamental changes to Certain aspects of our lives like traveling. When you go to the airport now it's vastly different now than it was prior to 9 11. Billions of dollars have been spent at the law enforcement agencies across the country, uh, local level up to the federal level in terms of efforting against terrorism. Training. All of these things, all of these factors that have been put into place as a result of 9 11, yet still just 49% of Americans say that they feel the United States is safer from terrorism than it was prior to 9 11. So we have seen that number, though, fluctuate quite a bit. It peaked in 2003 at 67% of people who said that the country was safer post 9 11 than pre 9 11. But it's very fickle. It goes up and down quite easily. And over the years and the last peak we saw was in 2011 64%. And that was after the death of Osama bin Laden. When was the poll done? I mean, does it take into account the fall of Afghanistan and the withdrawal and all of that? Yeah, this is this is looking at this. This was conducted August 29 to September 1st of this year. And so it does look at the, um at least very early and initial effects of that chaotic withdrawal out of Afghanistan. And I think that's Contributing to the steady decline we've seen since 2011 on the people who say that the US is safer that number going down As I said, we're down. What is that? 15 points in the last 10 years. And it's so I this mentioned in this, uh, poll that the effect of Afghanistan certainly part of that, Um and you know one of the things that I think this poll shows is the partisan nature of this the partisan ideology of this That currently more moderates and liberals say that they feel safer than Republicans just 39 or scooting out Republicans. I should say conservatives, its ideology based, so 39% of conservatives say that they feel the country is sick. Safer so you can see where the partisan ideology does play a role in this certainly I, um as we get closer to the actual anniversary, I'm curious. If people will spend more time I guess, imagining or re imagining what their life was, like, 20 years ago. And using that lends to look at the safety of the United States because I feel it's hard to me. There's no argument. We are safer than we were. That doesn't mean that there aren't threats out there. But I feel like we're better equipped now to deal with him. Yes, I think that that's a good thing to keep in mind. Right is so much has changed. But after 20 years, it sometimes starts to just feel normal, right that and I just used the airport example is one thing right? What we go through? To get through security to get on a plane. However effective those are I know there's been criticism of the T s A and its handling of things or or security measures. But regardless the the effect of that, I think has become so commonplace and we expect to get to the airport an hour and a half or two hours early to get through security. That these are things that we we, I think as time goes on, especially as younger generations come up that don't remember what life was like, as as pre 9 11. Then you know, people start to forget that it was ever any different. And so you might that might be skewing some of The perception here. I think one of the things too, that this report, and this poll didn't really specify was types of terrorism and you talk to Gary right there about emerging threats and over the last couple years..

"Yes. Oh, Oh! Oh! Nice. Oh, uh, True Yankee. She got to pose with the umpires. When the lineup cards were brought out after the third inning, the Yankees played a video that included the letters from the one that she wrote back in 1961, the one that Roy Hemy Road and then obviously the one that, uh Brian Cashman Road. And a zoom session in which Brian Cashman and an assistant general manager Jean after hman and pitcher Garrett Coal among those informing her of her invitation to come through out the first pitch and everything. She was shaking with excitement, just beaming when she was recounting to reporters how it felt to be at Yankee Stadium on this day. She says. I don't know where to start of, which was the best. What did I enjoy the most the whole piece from walking in the front door of the stadium at Gate 22 coming up to the locker with my name on it, suiting up walking out onto the field. It took my breath away. It's obviously taking my words away. Also, it was a thrill of a lifetime times a million. Now, I'm assuming that's the first time that she had been able to set foot on Yankee Stadium. The field on the field, and if that's the case That feeling is not something you forget. Oh, my God. I mean, I remember the first time getting on the field at Candlestick at PacBell. Any stadium. It's just like This is where the magic happens. I've never I've never been. I've never been in San Francisco at any one of the parks have never been on the field. But it was probably five years ago, six years ago on the field here at Dodger Stadium, and it was just a really quick thing. It was before the game like you walk in one side kind of walk around behind the batting cage, and then you walk out the other side. Get keep going. Get moving, but just Being on that same field. The moments of I I know every superstar who's ever played on this field right here. Totally. I remember the first time when I was 19 and, uh and Chico and Mike Baca told me if you want to do sports First apply for a press pass. You want to cover the 40 Niners, you know, go into the office and and requiring and try to get a press passes interning at K P A. Y and she go going to college, So I get a press pass from the 49 ers. I'm going to go just get practice. I'm not going to get paid for it. But I'm going to go cover the game's going to drive down to to the stick. And I remember because my dad's season tickets from the beginning of Candlestick from 1974 whenever it open to forget, um, are right at the 50 yard line, and everybody in the press box has to walk down the set of green stairs, um, at the 50 yard line to get to the field. That's how reporters will get to the field. You take the press elevator down, and then you'd walk down. And I remember Being able, like walk past my dad and like, Get on the field. Did you ignore him? Coolest thing? No, I think I said Hi. But like it was the coolest feeling of like the head nod. I'm going down to the field, Dad, and you're holding your press pass in front of you. Oh, this old. Yeah. Totally. Totally field access, right? Okay. Have fun up here in your seats. That's great. And your dad cried the whole time. He saw you walk down. No, I don't even think he noticed me walking down there. I'll never mind. We'll get into swamp watch when we come back to Gary and Shannon. "Why we're in the middle of Swamp Watch talking about what's going on in Washington, D C. There was actually a story that came out of. I believe it was Colorado this weekend, some conservative Republicans. Did a really informal nonscientific poll of who would be their top choice for 2024 presidential nominee this weekend, and Ron De Santis led a straw poll of presidential contenders 75% to Donald Trump 72%. There were a couple others. I think the third on the list was Ted Cruz at that point So just in terms of, uh, whoever will emerge as sort of the leader for Republicans heading into, uh Heading into 24. We are in swamp watch right now Getting a look at what's going on in Washington, and the president is expected to fall short of his commitment to shipping 80 million vaccine doses abroad by the end of June. Officials say there's been some regulatory hurdles. Some other red tape. The White House is pushing ahead with new plans for sharing the shots abroad. They announced the White House did the final allocations for the doses with 60 million shots going to the Global Kovacs vaccine sharing alliance 20 million directed to specific partners. Shipments will go out as soon as the countries are ready to receive the doses. They will sort out all the logistics and these are the places that are going to need it the most. I mean, you're talking about Brazil, Argentina, Colombia, Peru, Ecuador, all of the southern California, Southern California, South American, Latin American Caribbean countries that that are at highest risk, Perhaps Of seeing significant problems because of the ongoing numbers. The White House has not provided exact figures for how many doses go to each country. They just basically estimate for the for the region as a whole. Oh, Speaking of the president, his dog died. Yeah, I saw that. Just 13 years old. Right, champ? Yeah, This is not the one who was biting. Everybody was it. I don't think it was Biden's got champ from a breeder. After Biden was elected vice president back in 2000 and eight major was the one that was eating people. That's right. Major is the one who was getting headlines for his bad behavior. But German shepherd at the age of 13 beautiful dog, and he gone Yeah. The the New York mayor's race is going to be interesting. Tomorrow is their primary. So the last polls that came out for the ongoing race for mayor of New York It looks like former NYPD Captain Eric Adams is the one who holds the lead in this race. Safety is the biggest issue right now we've seen headline after headline of major cities, especially New York and Chicago right now. That are dealing with these spikes in crimes as we get back to normal after the pandemic, and one of the things that the one of the questions that was asked in this new survey was Who do you trust among all these people running for mayor of New York City? Who do you trust to address crime and public safety? I think it's pretty strong, Uh, idea that a former New York Police Department captain would have something to say about that. And, in fact, 39% of likely Democratic voters say that Eric Adams is the person to trust when it comes to crime and public safety 24% points more than Andrew Yang. He only got 15% 13% say they don't know who would most effectively combat crime and increase safety. The The issues based numbers are much higher than Andrew Yang's by a slimmer margin, though, when it comes to homelessness, stopping the spread of covid reopening the economy and education. But he by far Eric Adams has more first choice of 28% of Democratic voters, followed by Andrew Yang at 20%, Katherine Garcia 15 Maya Wiley at 13. Their primary is a tiered primary so there will be no runoff. Oh, that's right. I forgot about that You get to choose. I think there's eight Name's primary names that you're that appear on the ballot. And what you do in this tiered voting is tiered choice. You choose who you want first, and then it's weighted differently. You vote Eric Adams, and then you give a two and a three and a four and a five to these different candidates. And then first they just go through and first sweep one count. And whoever doesn't have enough. The last person basically say it's Maya Wiley. Just a guess. She gets gone, she gets pumped out. She's no longer eligible. But everybody who voted for Maya Wiley as the number one Their votes get recounted for their number two. So if they then have enough to get Eric Adams after just one recount that's supposed to be the new way to protect against ridiculously. Polarized politics. Yeah, but it's not a guarantee that our work, see how it's gonna work. Yeah, it's been. It's been in place in in a few other areas. I remember that in November, when we covered the election. There were a couple of states that we're doing it. But in New York City election like this, this is the first time that New York City has done one this consequential. So and then. Go ahead. No, no, I like cheer to step. Funny. Fun. Yeah, it is kind of fun. It would be something different. I wanted to mention this..

Ron De Santis Donald Trump Katherine Garcia Ted Cruz Andrew Yang 20% 24% 2000 75% Southern California Washington 15% 28% 39% November NYPD New York City Chicago southern California 72%

It's a 24 100 acres. They said zero containment. There are some evacuations. But it is pretty remote out in the Ventana wilderness northwest of the Arroyo Seco Recreation Area. 12 30. Every day we jump into a swamp Watch swamp is horrible. The government doesn't work. Come on, man. You can make this like a reality TV show Corn pop wasn't bad dudes. Always a pleasure to be anywhere but Washington D. C. Hey, Joe. Hey, a town all too clearly built on a swamp and in so many ways still a swamp that's a bunch of malarkey always had drained the swamp. I said, Oh, that's so I'll keep you happen, Man. SWAT watch You know the thing? Well, it looks like President Biden continues to have to defend himself for having that summit in Geneva with Vladimir Putin. National Security advisor Jake Sullivan. Sullivan was on ABC s this week. Yesterday he indicated to President Putin that the United States will respond. If certain harmful activities continue, And in this regard, the summit offered the opportunity to play some guardrails. Now time will tell whether those guard rails hold Alex Per She joins us now from Washington. With all of the latest, Alexa seems to be lingering. That's right, Gary and Shannon. So I mean, the president has faced criticism from Republicans. He's also faced criticism from members of his own party and even some some media outlets. It was not bed from The Washington Post written about how, uh they thought that he went easy on Putin in this summit. But, you know, national Security Advisor Jake Sullivan really pushing back and saying that defending this meeting, saying that And you know, Biden did actually get some important statements from Putin in that meeting primarily about, uh, cybersecurity and then and then also some of the human rights issues. We know the situation with Alexey Navalny it navalny. I've, um look Biden has been pretty clear from the outset that he wants to have space to privately and candidly talk with Putin. Uh, but right now, in terms of what happens next, there's going to be a little bit of a timetable. And they're saying that they're going to get about six months to decide whether or not you know from this meeting, and the discussions they talked about whether or not the U. S has gone going to levy more sanctions. Well, what were some of the indicators that we're looking for? Over the course of these next few months? Well, so I mean, I think the response to cyber security is going to be cheap among them. Even going into this meeting, the president was asked, you know, Will you act if if Putin doesn't do something about a lot of these Russian based hacking groups, and he said, Look, we're not looking for conflict. But yes, If something doesn't change, we will. We will act. I think again, you know, human rights is something else. That's that It's front of mind right now for for for the U. S. And then all Arms. You know, the arms race is always something, uh, that that's of concern. So you know, will Russia kind of tamp down some of its its military operations? That's that's also something that will be watching. No, that dictators love events where they get to sit down with a democratic president of especially places like the United States. I get what he gets out of it like to be legitimized and all of that. What does Biden get out of a summit like this? Well for Biden. You know both sides going into this meeting, Shannon said that U S Russian relations were at a low point by didn't want to kind of reset that at the end of the day. Having some sort of stable, more predictable relationship with Russia is good for the U. S. Because it allows us to focus on other adversary countries like China or preventing Iran from getting nuclear arms. I mean, it's one less thing to Worry about if you if you know kind of what you're getting with Vladimir Putin in Russia, And quite frankly, you know, the last the last couple of election cycles. It's been it's been kind of a mixed bag, um from from from from Russia. Alex. Great insight. Appreciate your time as always. Thank you both Alex pressure there for us. And for ABC News in Washington. Uh, one of the big stories that came out of Washington D C today was this decision from the Supreme Court a unanimous decision. That the N C double cannot enforce the rules that limit education related benefits things like computers and paid internships, etcetera that colleges will be offering to student athletes stay men now whether the student athletes could be paid salaries, cash money. That was not before the court. That's not what this was about, but the door is open for that. Yeah, if for no other reason, if you read through one of the Concurrent opinions by Judge Kavanaugh Justice Cabin. I should say he was basically saying the N C double A can't hide behind this forever, and the next course of action may very So that would mean the people that sued to get to this point are now saying, Hey, we may go back and try this again the right way so that we can have students be paid salaries. The CIA is the Mafia here. They have held these kids who bake billions for all the schools. They have held them back when it turned when it comes to compensating them for the amount of money that they bring in, it would be one thing. You know the whole amateur slash professional. Differences. That would be one thing to argue if they weren't bringing in all this money, right, But they are so you can't ignore that. And there's a lot of athletes who, you know they they make billions. They're huge superstars in college. They make millions of dollars for these schools and then they get injured. And then nothing right? It's the irony of them, saying that the reason they do this is to preserve the amateur nature of college sports. Then give the money back Then don't sign multi billion dollar TV contract Top charging $400 a seat right for a stadium that you could fit 109,000 people in just, uh yeah, So anyway, I I feel like that's going to that is one of those Tide is turning style rulings and all of this because there's other states, California I think is one of them. That has pushed this issue and put it back to the N C. Double A and said that if you are going to Basically use these young athletes to make your school some money. You gotta You gotta cut him in on some of that scratch. All right, coming up. Next, it looks like the president's following short of his commitment to ship a bunch of vaccine doses abroad will tell you all the latest when we come back. Gerry and Channel will continue with Swamp Watch. Amy King has an update on the news Governor Newsom and lawmakers are.

You know what happens is they make fake prescription drugs all over the world. And of course they don't really have The actual ingredients. So what they do instead they get they put fentanyl in there and, you know, like they might be making fake Oxy Kodo, but they'll put fentanyl in the fake pills. And fentanyl can be very deadly. And you don't need that much of it. And I think we can all agree that if you're some guy trying to stamp out fake Oxy, codeine pills and a lab somewhere In Mexico or Texas or wherever you're doing it. You're probably not being all that careful about the recipe, and so people buy those things thinking they're getting one thing, And it's a deadly surprise. "Live everywhere on the heart radio app on this Tuesday it's February. 9th President Trump's lawyers are arguing that the impeachment trial in the Senate is unconstitutional. One of their arguments, of course, is that because the president is no longer the president as written in the Constitution, you cannot have a trial because the only remedy For an impeachment trial in the Senate is to kick somebody out of office. The problem is he's been out of office for a couple of weeks already, so we'll keep an eye on that. That vote actually is expected later today. It's only gonna be a simple my simple majority. To consider this constitutional and then move on to the real part of the trial. Well, Los Angeles who will have the attention of everyone Next year. Next February, when, for the first time in nearly three decades, the Super Bowl comes to L. A. It will be a beautiful, so fi stadium and what a stage it will be. Cathy Schlozman is joining us. She is the L, A Sports and Entertainment Commission president and CEO and Kathy. I would assume that the clock started on this a long time ago in terms of preparation for Super Bowl 56. Yeah. Everybody thinks the clock turned on today. But, yes, we We started in 2016 when we won the bid in May of 2016 planning, but really the big work and And the excitement is starting today. What do you have to do to get them to agree to put a Super Bowl in your city? Ah lot after there's a There's a lot of responsibility, and they want to make sure they have a lot of events. It's not just the game and the things that are happening at the stadium. They bring so much business to the city with events and activities that were happening, so we have to Go out, find a different venues for them to host it. We have to help with the transportation and the marketing and promotion and, you know, they want to make sure that the residents in Los Angeles know that the Super Bowl on the activities air here and that they can participate you they don't want to just come there. Not a one and down there, not just a one game. This is a event that takes place for an entire week. And there's activities you know, and promotion and marketing and think economic impact that's happening the year leading up to it, you bring up economic impact, and I think it's gonna mean so much more next February than it has in years past. When you talk about bringing the Super Bowl to a city, I mean, because this is AH community just like every many communities in this country that have been shut down. For a year now almost and Ah, lot of people fallen on hard times, and this could be a boost for many people. You were right. We're the reason we're excited to have the event coming here. We were excited before Cove it But now with 2022 the game coming, this is an opportunity to bring business to the hospitality industry. The hotels, the caters all the people that haven't had any business over the last year, So it was exciting before it's a tremendous opportunity. Now we're so grateful that we have it. Coming up when we're going to be coming out of coded life will be getting back to normal, But people really need a shot in the arm. They need something to look forward to, and they need to know that there's some opportunity for them to participate, and that's what's exciting for us. Happiest. Lastman is l, a Sports and entertainment Commission President CEO Talking about Super Bowl 56 coming to L A. About a year from now, how Why does this spread geographically? I mean the reach of the potential impact of this next year. Right. We're telling everybody again. It's not about just what's happening at the stadium. This is a region wide. The whole Los Angeles County is going to be involved. There's going to be activities all over the place. There's gonna be hotel bookings all over the city and the county can't just do it. In the city. There's so much business that comes it has to spread out and it's great opportunity again for everybody to participate in Los Angeles. We should take our show there for that week. Well, if you could talk to somebody like that idea happy, huh? I knew if I had a connection like Kathy know somebody Gabby's Thank you so much for joining us. Appreciate it, And we are super excited and we were talking about the possibility. You know, these two Los Angeles teams. They both There's a shot for both of them to end up in the title game. I know. Wouldn't that be great? You know, you usually would not want that because in college football, you're dependent on the people traveling to visit to watch their teams that Super Bowl. Everybody comes for the events. It doesn't really matter who's playing on the field. So tab. Both of our l. A teams in the Super Bowl would be fantastic. Even even just in the hunt would be found. Totally. Kathy. Thank you Once again, we appreciate appreciate it. Okay? Flashman there again. L, a Sports and Entertainment Commission president and CEO of the You think about what was lost not by any fault of their own. But what was lost by the Tampa area simply because they didn't have almost two entire weeks of events and parties and things that lead up to the Super Bowl last year in Miami, you couldn't go anywhere without there being some sort of Super Bowl event or it was soon to be, or they just had had a Super Bowl event or insignia or some sort of celebration. I mean, it is just such a She said, shot into the arm of cities. When you have this magnitude of production and events and all of it, it's It's crazy, and it's so exciting to think about and I can't wait for those stadiums to have fans in them again because you know, just going to the game, which is great. It is. Wonderful, but you know when you don't have the fans, you miss Ah, huge percentage of the experience of a game. Somebody was talking about that It was an interview with a player. Somebody is talking about that. The Actual event itself. On Sunday, it was one of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. I can't remember who it was, but the question was, Did it make a difference for you? That's your home field like you knew what to expect. You know what the playing surface is, like? You know, the temperatures like you know what the the just where the locker rooms are like that type of thing. Can help the team feel comfortable doing what Still, Andrea response was, Yeah. I mean, Yeah, we knew everything was, but it's just it was different enough just because it's not home field advantage. Guys there are used to not knowing more things are. Well, First of all, they're led into the stadium. They're they're led in by people who know exactly where everything is. They don't hurt for anything. They don't wander around like me and Matt in DJ When we can't find the press box that there is different rebel directions on the hotel stationery, right? Like you take a left out this door. You go up two flights of stairs, take a right and then knock and then to give that guy An egg that's behind the window of that door. I mean, it's really crazy when you when you have to find the freaking press boxes, But they don't have that struggle. Who did. You have to give an egg too? There was a guy in Buffalo. You couldn't get to the press box until you went up A couple flights of stairs took a left. Took another right went through it. A couple trap doors was a whole to do. Hey, did you know that more people watch the Super Bowl in Boston than in Tampa? That's funny. That is funny. You know why? Yes. One Brady? Yeah. Oh, my God. J. Tom Brady's done it again when we come back Swamp Watch Bruce Castor, former President Trump's defense lawyer is speaking to the Senate. The argument today is about the constitutionality. The HBO has a new, uh It was the best selling novel. Ah, lot of people read it, but Bear town and HBO's gotta show. About it coming out in a couple weeks here to bear town. Democrats have asked former President Trump to testify under oath for the Senate impeachment trial, trying to get him to explain why he and his lawyers have disputed several of the factual allegations, they say at the center of their case. Trump adviser did not immediately return a message for comment. From this whole thing. It was the as It's a drop Don't do it. Marjorie Taylor Greene. We'll talk more about her in Swamp watch facing a house vote to try to strip her of her committee assignment, says she regrets some of the words of the past, but says they are just that words of the past. She's not specifically apologize for any racist or violent rhetoric. But she did say that she was simply asking questions when she would make social media posts about conspiracy theories like School shootings, being false flags and that the September 11th attacks never actually took place. Well, we all have had a craving for chicken. Waffles at some point Just saying chicken and waffles makes you want chicken and waffles, doesn't it? I well, I'll admit the first time I Even toyed with the idea of chicken and waffles. I was not excited about it. Had heard about it for a long time. But when the reality of Going to Roscoe's chicken and waffles was brought to me. It's the sweet and the savory together. I've never had anything before or since. That has been as good as two. Yeah, I mean, it fires up all of your palate, really? And ah, man last night was in Pasadena. And he wanted some Roscoe's chicken and waffles. Well, there's a place right there on Lake Avenue is here. North Lake Avenue, a 30 North Lake Avenue. Roscoe's chicken and waffles. Go to the restaurant. Get your chicken and waffles. The man entered the restaurant without a mask. And they said Sorry, sir, You gotta have a mask out front should have told you He said. I see your mask mandate. And I raise you because he left and he came back this time not armed with a mask. But with a gun because once you get it in your mind that you want chicken and waffles, you can not change course you cannot say okay, I'm not like your are. You're not even you're not gonna settle for a lettuce wrap without having the idea. Hey, I want chicken waffles. You're not even in the car on the way to the chicken and waffles. They're right there. You can smell them. You're in the vicinity of the chicken and the waffles and they tell you no. Of course, you're going to go back with a gun. He pointed the gun and he said, Put the chicken in the bag to the cook. He didn't want money, guys. He just wanted the chicken when he came back without the mask. Of course, the cashier told him he needs a mask. And he says, Yeah, well, if I don't put a mask on what you gonna do, and that's when he pulled out the gun. The cook refused to give up the chicken. I'm sorry if I'm working at a Roscoe's in some guy comes in with a gun and wants chicken. I'm gonna give it to him. That's not a hill. I'm going to die on. No, you're not wearing a mask. No chicken? Yeah, I see that gun. But still, you have no mask. No chicken for you. I took an oath. Yeah, I took it. It's okay to protect this chicken chicken. Thanks to all enemies, Foreign and domestic. Oh, my gosh. I mean, I love somebody takes pride in their work. But guys give up the chicken extra crispy. So wait a minute. I like a little X. Where were you last night? I wasn't trust me. I was not there. But you know what? It's funny. Because they visit l. A. I would have to go to Roscoe's people that live here. I haven't been to Roscoe's in the nearly two years I've been here. Isn't it a shame, But I don't want some chicken and waffles. Well, it's probably not. There's something about sitting at a table and eating Roscoe's chicken and waffles. That's true. The line dance sidewalk, Roscoe. I used to like it more because I would stop there because they're everywhere, right. So when I was in the field, I get that sometimes. But then I went to Charlotte and I had Bojangles chicken. Oh, Bo jangles that Z East Coast. My God. You ever have the bull berry biscuits in the morning? No, no, Berry, and they have the bull rounds, not hash browns Bo around the bow. Very biscuits have like blueberry. They had their top it frosted on the top. Extra frosting. Sort of like a doughnut. "Relaxing some of the rules. At least the state lockdowns are now lifted for the state of California in two individual counties now to figure out what is going to be going on because Back to the purple tears and the red didn't the orange and the yellow. Whatever that means, But we in southern California. In fact, most of the state is still under a purple tier status. Glad I wasn't putting money on those games in Vegas yesterday and just betton with you guys because I picked both those games wrong. Tom Brady, man. Can't this I'm I was rooting for the Packers the whole weight, not just gonna pick them. I would. I prefer Aaron Rodgers and I kept thinking about what you've said over and over again, which is Don't get why people so down on Tom Brady, you know, neither. I mean, he's clearly he's clearly great at what he does. You literally just picked a team out of nowhere and was like, Hey, Let's go to the Super Bowl, and they did. I mean, he just It speaks so much to what he brings to that locker room, the culture that he brings and the competitiveness and the demand for excellence and Just all of it. It goes so far beyond his own individual ability, and they were referring to. At least they're in the television broadcast. They were referring to Aaron Rodgers as being the You know the leader of that team, and it's a very thoughtful process. He's not an overly emotive guy. But when he speaks everybody in that locker room listens to him. Um, for some reason. It did not come together for him yesterday. Well, there were a couple issues. I mean, you can point to the choice to go for the field goal. You can point to the P I call they suddenly decided to call it the I late in the game like Oh, hey, talk about his jersey. You know, you can point to a couple of those things, but he didn't have great protection. I don't think yesterday. Um You know? Well, that the touchdown right mystery that's that right before the half the Tom Brady threw. This was Scott Miller. I think it was How do you with like, six or eight seconds left or whatever it was You don't just get everybody back like you play a big nickel defense where you've got five or dot You got six defensive backs or something like that. The only thing But you can't allow them to do it score a touchdown because there's there's not gonna be any time for anything else. It looked too easy at times for the Buccaneers, and it reminded me of when you would see the Patriots in the playoffs. They play differently. They you didn't know what was coming. They did. They played differently than they did the whole regular season and I felt like that. Watching Tampa Bay and I absolutely preferred in terms of the fun. I absolutely preferred watching that second game, the Bills and the Chiefs because Josh Allen is Crazy Athletic? Yeah, I just wanted it to be tighter of a game. Yeah, but But I just I was more excited to watch that one. The greatest MIM I saw was that there's a picture of Yoda and a picture of baby Yoda. And it's Tom Brady and Patrick Mahomes going into the people. They're the big goat, and the baby goes, means they're great, but that was a lot of fun, but it's just it's like There's not gonna be an upset. You know what I mean? Like it's whether it's Patrick Mahomes or Tom Brady. You're going to say, Of course, Have you seen anything on the line yet for the game? I haven't imagine its first Super Bowl where the home team plays it. Yeah, now Minnesota almost did that. A couple of years ago. If I'm not mistaken, the Vikings almost did it. They at least made it into the playoffs. I can't remember how far they got, but, yeah, that'll be that'll be interesting. The NFL did say they're gonna have 22,000 people there. Including several 1000 health care workers, who have been invited to the game chiefs are favored three points. Really? Yep. Even in Tampa. Yeah, Well, I mean, what is it? It doesn't matter as much of the Super Bowl, but you can imagine there will be a lot of Tom Brady. Fans. They're all right Swamp watch when we come back. All things Washington and Harriet Tubman may be headed to a 20 near you. Really? Yes, Interesting. Larry King doesn't Governor.

We are standing by to see if in fact, this list of pardons and commutations comes out of the White House. There's been a lot that's been said about it. On Sunday. "D C within as delicate terror coming up in Swamp Watch about tomorrow's electoral college vote in the certification there of The farther I get into this thread from John Roderick being dead, the more I hate him. Yeah, he He doesn't hate him. He loves him. He thinks he is funny. And clever. And he wants to tell everybody I'm not seem about his life. 25 tweet thread that this guy put out about his nine year old daughter. Complaining that she was hungry, asking if she could have a can of beans. And then he Forced well. He left it up to her, handed her the Cano butter and said, You do it and then 25 tweets. Over the course of a few hours. Explained. Play by play of what was going on. And this is the A hole that I actually was a little bit. What's the word? I had a little bit of? Pity for early on. He wrote. Eventually, she collapsed in a frustrated heap. And I said, explain the parts. The parts of the can opener that I give her, she said. This little wheel is meant to cut these gears. Turn the wheel when you spend the handle this other wheel looks like a gear, but it is him. And he says she couldn't figure out the clamping step a key element right before then. He said in the tweet before, he said, I should say that spatial orientation process visual ization in order of operation or not things she into its I knew this would be a challenge, but it was a rainy weekend like I knew my daughter was going to struggle figuring this out, but I was bored, and so I decided to torture her with it. I don't know if you've seen slow Children, but those slow Children posters on the street. That's my daughter. That's my daughter's picture on there. That's what he's saying. Basically. I mean, I had said earlier in the show that that would not be my thing because I was a child and still do not know how to put things together or how they work. I need to be told. I need to read something about it. It's just not the way my brain works. But you know, my dad's not outing me in my shortcomings on Twitter, he says. So he shows her that can opener and she got a can of baked beans. And she's like, how does this work and she studies it applies it to the top of the can. Sideways she struggles for with a while with a big dramatic size says We've Please just open the can. Many rights apocalypse. Dad was overjoyed. A teaching moment capitalized a teaching moment just dropped in my lap. So He said. Neither of us will eat another bite today till we get into this can of beans. On. Then she read about for a while, anyway, it goes on for 25 tweets and people started losing their minds on this guy. We'll just feed your daughter for crying out loud, you know, And so people are so pissed off at him that he won't just open the canopy and for his daughter They start going full. Cancel culture on this guy. They they start digging into tweets. When Twitter was just getting going. And they found old. What did they find? Well, what we always find an old tweets, old, racist and anti Semitic tweets were resurfacing. Do I have any? I'm not saying that because I don't want anybody to go through your fight me like where did Shannon go Lighter all about football. Uh, It's why would somebody think that that was an okay thing? To go through his tweets no to write him to tweet that in the first place. The racist anti Semitic stuff. Yeah, I didn't read what those were. Well, I just saw them described his racist and anti Semitic. He's he says. I was ignorant, insensitive to the message that my pendant pendant dad comedic persona was indistinguishable from how abusive Dads act talk and think that in relation to the nine year old story about the nine year old, he said in his apology. My story about my daughter in the can of beans was poorly told I didn't share how much laughing we were doing, how we had a bowl of pistachios between us all day like that's food, right like that's a meal. Don't stand a pretty good. I mean, they're good, But like if you're hungry, and somebody hands you a handful of pistachios. He did say. As for my written many, Oh boy even admitted that there were many. As for the many racist, anti Semitic, hurtful and slur filled tweets from my early days on Twitter, I can say on Lee this all of those two eats were intended to be ironic, sarcastic, and he thought that being an ally to marginalize communities meant taking the slurs of the oppressors and flipping them to mock racism, sexism, homophobia and bigotry. He says he was humiliated by my incredibly insensitive use of the language of sexual assault in casual banter. Does that mean I want to see these old tweets? Yeah, like rape jokes. Yeah, I guess rape joke. Those are funny all the time. Well as we told you, this guy is a podcaster. Apparently the podcast my brother, my brother and me. Was using his music because he's also a musician. They announced it would no longer use his music as its theme for that podcast. Um, we mentioned this. Also earlier, Ken Jennings is the partner in the podcast called Omnibus. Ken Jennings. The Jeopardy guy. Ken Jennings got pulled into this controversy to in response to a tweet asking about Rodricks anti Semitic comments earlier on Twitter, Ken Jennings tweeted. If we are words searching through old tweets. Now it's pretty easy to find what he actually thinks about anti Semitism on our show. He's always the pro Israel one, which Just because you're pro Israel doesn't mean you're not anti Semetic. Whatever. Uh, in in being dad's apology, he says At one point, I was a hipster. Intellectual from a diverse community, so I thought it was okay for me to joke and deploy slurs. Because you're a hipster intellectual from a diverse community, you get to tell rape jokes. Somebody tweeted. I promised I wouldn't tweet about being dad anymore. But This is the funniest apology I've ever heard. I thought being an ally meant using slurs, but in a cool way. Funniest apology I've ever heard. Uh, full of himself. Is this guy? It's incredible that that you would then it's one thing to apologize. Like I should never have said that I was trying to be funny or I was. I was trying to use Internet sarcastic way when you When you take it out of context I can under I could see how would be offensive. Period end of sentence. I'll see you next year when I start a new podcast and open a new Twitter account, but friend to explain like I was a hipster. I live amongst intellectual hipster to, like, refer to yourself as a hipster and then throw on that adjective intellectual and then say, that's why it's cool because I can make slurs because I came from a diverse community. Yeah, the suggestion being that if you It worked on so many levels. You just don't understand them. Yeah, right. Right. Right, right. I liked death Cab for cutie before anybody like death Cab for cutie. Um, crisp stir a little antiquated down. Yes, That's Yeah, That's part of it. Also, I mean, the guy if he's got a nine year old daughter, I don't know how old he is. You could probably do some math on that figure out how old he is, but he should not be using that term. And should not definitely be using it as a as an excuse for any reason Chris wrote us. We're talking about this in the first place I get what have you done? What sort of hardship of the put your kids through simply as a teaching lesson? Chris said. We made my five my young son five ish. Try one green being a dinner before he could get down from the table. He sat there and refused so long to eat that one grieving. He fell asleep at the table. We had to put him to bed for the night. That's like John Coble. I once forced him to eat broccoli, broccoli. And it did not go. Well. If he gets sick, I think what we had to do is one year of tried to force him to eat broccoli. He wouldn't do it. So the next year we raised money. Oh, that was a katarina. He had to The donation. But his face I'll never forget his face. His body rejected. The broccoli wasn't good. I had a friend in college, whose little brother would do that refused to eat something and then would make himself throw up. Like you gotta have a green being They'd may he'd eat a green bean and then just go. Raw I Oh, God. See and sit there proudly, like I told you. I was gonna throw up. What happened to that person? Where is you know? No idea. That is a great question is probably in his mid twenties by now. We should do a segment every now and then called. This was a disaster from my past. Where are they now? Tracked them down. All right. Swamp Lodge when we come back, you're thinking of people? Yes, yeah. Series of personal car accident that our lives became entangled with Danny was that.

Insys executive gave doctor lap dance while promoting drug, witness says

"They say that the lap dances began when they began rewarding a certain doctor for prescribing this opioid product they were paying him to speak at educational events about the drug at paying him acts like exorbitant amounts of speaker fees to then get on stage and talk to another room full of doctors about how great this drug is. Now, the problem is there were several events held did a Chicago restaurant that the founder of our chairman of insects owned attended by friends of this of doctors instead of clinicians, and the idea was there weren't really meant to be educational programs but were parties thrown to benefit the doctors and their buddies at one dinner in mid twenty twelve there was testimony that this stripper. Was sitting on the doctors lap kind of bouncing around. He had his hands sort of inappropriately all over her. Chest question. I'm sorry. Yeah. Is there a way to touch a stripper on her chest without it being inappropriate? Now. Remember, she's not a stripper at this point. She's the regional sales director. Okay. Is there a way to touch a regional sales director on the chest. That's appropriate. Wow. Like say say, no, I'm going go out. Darren came in here. Right. Okay. And. Oh is he bouncing on your lap at the time? Yes. Okay. And I'm touching his chest. Is that ever appropriate say two wrongs don't make a right? So no, there would never be a chance. Were you could touch his chest appropriately paid this doctor more than seventy thousand dollars in speaker fees? It's pretty good you've been paid to speak. Yes. Was it ever close to seventy eight thousand seventy thousand dollars. Now, this is an ongoing thing this is an ongoing court case. And I think this is only going to get dirtier where we were talking yesterday about how John Kapoor was accused of this. I think it's racketeering conspiracy. Is the charge that he faces and a few other of the executives there from insists, and how it is that they were giving these money they were putting on these fake parties, they were encouraging doctors to speak nicely about the in suspension will spray in exchange for tens of thousands of dollars in speaking fees, and you know, try to play it off as some sort of an educational clinic. When in fact, there were regional sales directors who double this strippers and lapdancer. So this is going to get better remember yesterday when we told you about the head of US intelligence agencies testifying before a Senate panel talking about how they don't believe North Korea will ever abandon its nuclear. Program. And they also believe we have not beaten ISIS. These are two things that the president is diametrically been vocal on the other side of I guess, you could say, well, he's pushing back today against those intelligence assessments, saying perhaps intelligence should go back to school love it. Hey, we'll also answer. The question in swamp. Watch whatever happened to John casick. Does anybody have that question? But if they did we'll have answer to it. Come back.
